Comparing Dulce Et Decorum Est And Futility
Living through inhospitable experiences conveys the lingering mental deterioration of an individual s
humanity. Wilfred Owen conveys such notions in his poems Dulce et Decorum est and Futility , which
detail his own perspective upon the Great War by underlining the emotional and physical exhaustion
caused to the soldiers. Dulce et decorum est focuses on the grotesque horrors of war, as well the ever
declining human nature. Futility however details the uselessness of war and questions the pointless
meaning of life. Through the use of metaphors, and other poetic techniques, both the poems have
conveyed the antiwar themes and as a result, dictates a thorough insight of the consequences of war.
Owen s 1917 Dulce et decorum est provides insight by a result of personal experience, the physical
distress of a marine through distinct poetic techniques which represents the horrendous ideals of war

Michael Moore Capitalism
Capitalism and the free world have long been intertwined in their state of dependency. Reaping
insurmountable benefits, this economic system has become fully entrenched in our society, elevating
itself to a deity. In the 2009 documentary, Capitalism: A Love Story , film maker Michael Moore
advocates the blasphemous notion that capitalism is evil . Although the documentary targets an
American audience, its representation of capitalist corruption resonates globally. Throughout the
documentary Moore mercilessly critiques the status quo while illustrating his condemnation with stark
portraits of suffering ensued by economic crises to question the price that America is willing to pay for
its love affair with capitalism. Despite blatant bias, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is reinforced through his blatant bias, evident in his religious partiality, marginalisation of
capitalist voice and dichotomy of capitalism and democracy. Although his blatant bias weakens his
credibility, the arguments he poses are compelling and resonate with his audience. Through the
discriminating use of language, filming techniques and the support provided by high ranking
interviewees, Moore constructs a vivid diatribe against private enterprise. This poignant, satirical and
confrontational documentary effectively sways viewers beliefs in capitalism through instilling fear and
embedding seeds of hope for a better system that is beneficial to the common

Essay On My Second Attack
My second attack is an offline dictionary attack against team 10718 (Will Xu). Will stores the salted
SHA1 hash of each user s pin in their card file. He salts the hashes by concatenating the pin with the
user s name and their account creation time in seconds since Jan 1, 1970. However, usernames can
easily be found by examining the card s file name and the creation time can be found by examining
the file s creation date. As a result, this salting doesn t do much to protect against an offline dictionary
attack against a single user. My attack examines .card files and prints out their associated pins. It does
this by conducting a brute force attack in which it guesses creation times and pins and checks the
value of Hash(username || pin guess || time guess) against the value of the hash which is stored in the
.card file. Because I m able to make good guesses about the card creation time and the pin is short
enough to turn up in a small dictionary of possible pins, this attack typically runs in under a second.
While it would be possible to examine the card file s creation time to accurately estimate the
timestamp which was used in the salt, my attack code simply guesses ... Show more content on

Please note that this will throw an error unless you manually create the bin folder. Additionally, you
should also be aware that Will s ATM code has a bug which can cause it to hang (he acknowledges
this bug in his design doc). To test my attack, you must compile pin_extractor.c using the command
gcc lcrypto pin_extractor.c . You must then run the bank executable and create a user with a command
such as create user bob 2134 1 . Then run the executable which was created by building
pin_extractor.c and pass in a path to the card file which the bank just created. This can be done using a
command such as ./a.out bob.card . This should print the user s pin to the terminal. The following

Amazon Rainforest Fragmentation
III. Environmental Issues
Deforestation. Deforestation is one of the most critical problems in Brazil. Destroying natural habitat
is a direct threat to biodiversity (Wilson et al., 2015). Historically, deforestation rates have been high
in Brazil fluctuating between 25,000 to 50,000 kilometers squared per year. If deforestation were to
continue at the historical rates, then most of the Amazon would disappear within 50 to 100 years
(Shukla, 1990). While contemporary deforestation rates are not so severe, they are still high and have
recently begun to increase. In 2009, Brazilian deforestation was estimated at 7,008 kilometers squared
(May et al., 2011). After a slight decrease in the deforestation rate, with a valley in 2012 at 4,571

A habitat fragment that is too small cannot sustain species with larger ranges and populations can go
locally extinct. Species richness of many organisms has been shown to decline with fragment area.
Bryophytes, tree seedlings, palms, understory insectivorous birds, primates, and larger herbivorous
mammals are all species that decrease in population size in smaller fragments (Laurance et al., 2011).
Habitat fragmentation also causes the alteration of local ecosystem processes leading to biodiversity
loss (Wilson et al., 2015). About 70% of remaining forests in the world are within 1 km of the forest s
edge (Haddad et al., 2015). Having more edge means the fragment is more susceptible to impacts from
wind, heat, and light. These changes are known as edge effects. Edge effects change the community
composition of trees, lianas, and tree seedlings. Bees, wasps, flies, beetles, ants, and understory birds
also decrease in abundance near fragment edges (Laurance et al.,

The House of Mirth Essay
The House of Mirth Lily and Selden are on a walk together, Lily having broken her second planned
meeting with Percy Gryce in order to see Selden. The excuse she gave Gryce was that she had a
headache that first prevented her from going to church and second from going on a walk with him.
She instead convinces him to join the other guests and go to the Van Osburgh home in Peekskill.
Selden tells Lily that he views everything she does as having been premeditated. She disagrees, saying
she is impulsive, but Selden argues that her genius is being able to convert impulse into intentions.

Is it a celibate order? (74). Selden s republic of the spirit serves as his protective and exclusive society.
It allows him to find fault with everyone in order to exclude them, and is one of the reasons he will not
marry. Lily tells him, It is a close corporation, and you create arbitrary objections in order to keep
people out (75). In this sense Selden is the ideal man to be the observer in the novel since his
perceptions will not be corrupted by Lily s influence. Another feature that Selden brings into the novel
is that of being amphibious, that is, being able to live with the elite and also with the working classes.
I have tried to remain amphibious. Selden is in fact the only man who works in the novel, and his
ability to live in both worlds is symbolic of the role of the bachelor in the society. As Lily pointed out
earlier, she would never be allowed the pleasure of living alone and still maintaining her societal
position. Once again the intimacy of the cigarette is shared with Selden, but now the cigarette is used
to show casual friendship rather than sexual desire or marriage intrigue. This cigarette puts the final
rejection on Mr. Gryce, for not only is Lily avoiding a walk with him, but she is also committing what
he considers to be a vice. Book I, Chapter 7 Mrs. Trenor admonishes Lily for spending time with
Selden. It turns out that Mrs.

Barack Obama Vs. Grumpy Cat
One picture has the ability to physically convey a message that is perceived through only one sense,
that is a meme. In Obama Vs. Grumpy Cat, comical devices are used to attract a percent of the nation
who may have grueling feelings towards Barack Obama. This high comedy meme is able to create
laughter among some Americans, including myself, while still having disapproving feelings towards
our nation s president. Grumpy Cat, also known as Tardar Sauce to her family, gained her fame in late
September of 2012. A photo of Tardar Sauce posted on Reddit, a popular social networking site, and
news website where registered community members can submit content. The photo quickly went viral
from the help of BuzzFeed and CNBC. Within 48 hours of the original Grumpy Cat post, 300 posts
associated with Grumpy Cat were submitted to Reddit. Her owner was able to quit her job during the
first week of the original post (Knowyourmeme.com). Since 2012, the memes of Grumpy Cat have
gotten increasingly stronger. Rather than just relabeling the original photo, meme makers took their
Grumpy Cat creativity to the next level. Different photos became merged with Grumpy Cat to create
an allusion. An allusion of Grumpy Cat s reaction to the situation appearing in the photo she is paired

Similarities Between The Beatles and Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd and the Beatles had more in common then they re often credited. Both bands members
were raised in the United Kingdom. The original framework for The Beatles was conspired by the best
friends, John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Likewise, Pink Floyd was created by best friends Nick
Mason and Roger Waters. By the same token, both bands were founded while the members received
their education. World War II was a pin point in each of the band members lives, if not directly
affecting them, then they were affected through their parents. Ironically, the two bands were also
branded for the sixties, largely the Beatles who were believed to be an instrument, attempted to be
used for ending the Vietnam War. As musicians often feel pressured ... Show more content on

This was the least of the confusion, the two bands matters were in original instrument choice among
the members, music style, the band members themselves, and at last the band names. Coincidentally,
both bands lost a member who motivated the group; Stuart Sutcliffe for the Beatles, and Syd Barrett
mentally handicapped before Pink Floyd s success. The most common factor for the two United
Kingdom, sixties era bands is that they both succeeded. With so many coincidences, the bands also
have their contrasting factors. The Beatles on one hand were largely public, acquiring names such as
the Quarry Men, instead Pink Floyd was underground and frolicked with names like T Set or Abdabs.
Large differences between the two bands are their rises in popularity. For Pink Floyd s underground
scene, they were not at the peak of their popularity in America until the early seventies; The Beatles
were into the Pop Culture which gave them leeway to high popularity. The war and Counterculture
provided the Beatles a great opportunity to experiment with their music, while Pink Floyd changed
largely because Barrett wanted to try mystique music which suited the culture a smidge better than the
blues. Because the controversial rises of fame, the bands trademark movies were created in totally
different generations; Yellow Submarine was released in 1968, Pink Floyd s The Wall was released in
1982. This presents why their strikingly similar reputations

Economic Recession In Gone Girl
A central point of the story in Gone Girl is the animosity between Nick and Amy in their marriage.
There are several reasons why these negative feelings exist, but the recession which occurred in the
early 1990s is the first in a long list. The time of Nick and Amy s mutual unemployment, shown
through various memories and diary entries, is remembered by both of the main characters as the point
when their marriage began to degrade. The novel s story has a tendency to exaggerate average
situations into worst case scenarios. Nick and Amy s marriage was perfect in the beginning, but after
the recession grew into a twisted and dysfunctional relationship. This exemplifies the effects of
economic recession and unemployment can have on people. Before

Multinational Banks and Financial Institutions
People in the modern world keep their funds stored in some type of financial institution, whether it s a
small local bank that only operates in a small town or a large multinational bank that has offices in
every major city around the world and caters to millions of people. With the responsibility of handling
the assets of millions of people banks are sometimes accused for activities that may be illegal, such as
money laundering: the method of concealing illegally acquired money or invasion of a client s
account. Unlike small banks, Multinational banks are the most susceptible to these accusations.
Multinational banks have to abide to the laws of multiple countries and any action they do could cause
controversy, whether it s considered good in the bank s eyes or if it s genuinely bad. While fiscal
government policies that affect revenue collection and expenditure set the limits for multinational
banks, ultimately multinational banks should be held to a higher international set of regulations. Their
actions may be legal in some countries while illegal in others, causing various problems that could
lead to the closure of offices in one country due to an action in another. Therefore, an international
governing body should be created to regulate t multinational banks and keep from getting in trouble
with national governments who have unique restrictions. Over the past decade the banking system has
globalized rapidly in foreign ownership of bank assets. Gyongyi Loranth, a

Norm Violations Paper
As we know, norms are social expectations that guide our behavior. In this paper, I will discuss norm
violations that I ve observed, and my own personal norm violation that I committed. I will describe
what happened, what was done, and the reactions of the people around when these norms begat. I will
also discuss the significance of folkways, mores, values, and sanctions to my observations.
There were two norms in which I observed. The first violation I spotted was a bit... out of the ordinary.
One day, I decided to take a trip to the Marketplace on Ming with one of my buddies. All was
seemingly normal until we stumbled upon a sight that shocked both of us. It was around 7:30 p.m.
when we walked upon a pack of humans standing in a circle with their dogs. They were located where
the suit stores and black tables are. As we first walked up, there seemed to be only a few dogs and a
few humans. As we drew nearer, though, we found that there were at least 30 humans and 30 dogs.
That was unbelievable. As we got within sight of the subjects, they all turned and looked at us at the
same exact time. Both the human faction and the dogs simultaneously turned to us. My friend and I
could not, at the time, decipher which party was in control, the humans or the dogs? My friend and I
decided that this sight was... too much... so we decided to slowly walk away in a backward manner.

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Procurement
something especially by effort. In construction terms, procurement refers to the process of acquiring
something. (Encarta Dictionary, 2009)
Procurement is comes from the word of procure which is means to bring about and to acquire .
Method is about organized method, technique, process or procedure . Procurement method is an
overall management structure and specific management practices used in the project such as houses,
office buildings, shopping complex, roads, bridges, etc. (Rosli Abdul Rashid, 2006)
Procurement is a term used to describe all activities undertaken by the client in seeking to bring about

In this method, it is an obligation to complete the project within the contract period, however, the
client may accept a later date to account for delays resulting from reasons listed in the contract.
In Design and Build Method, the contractor is responsible for undertaking both the design and
construction of the work in return for a lump sum price. To arrive at a choice of contractor, contractors
are required to develop a design (from an initial concept prepared by the consultant appointed to
advice the client) to a certain level, prepare a tender figure and submit the whole package which is
termed a proposal to be evaluated to meet the satisfaction of the client. A team of consultants will be
needed to assess each contractor s proposal. Evaluation of tenders in this case is usually difficult
because the contractors are not working with one design. Tenderers should be informed of the criteria
to be used, and whether price is likely to be a prime factor (Nwachukwu,

Business Case Analysis
In this particular situation, from my perspective as the furniture manufacturer, I believe that
negotiation would be the best means by which to solve the problem with the store owner. By using
negotiation, the furniture store and my manufacturing business may be able to reconcile and continue
dealing with each other after we have resolved the issue. With negotiation, the tone is not very formal,
outside legal counsel is not required, and the parties to negotiation set their own terms, making it
generally more cost effective and efficient than other methods. By comparison, in the case of
arbitration or litigation, the proceedings are far more formal and expensive, the process takes much
longer, and in the case of litigation in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, due to the potential harm this holdup may cause, I would offer a formal apology to both the
store owner and the store s customers in this situation. An apology letter may calm the customers
down and may keep them motivated to remain on the waiting list. Since apology law protects this
from being seen as an admission of guilt in Ontario, this may help to facilitate reconciliation. Upon
negotiating, I would agree to offer some of the money that will be lost due to the breach of contract
while my business seeks out a new supplier. I would also assure that a written contract with the
supplier will be created so that the store owner can be assured that my business is making steps to
ensure that an issue such as this one will not occur again.
It s not likely that the furniture store would be able to fight my business all the way to the Supreme
Court of Canada . The simple fact of the matter is that in any legal action, there is no inherent right to
the Supreme Court. Very few cases are heard by the Supreme Court, and they are often the ones that
deal with very serious injustices, and usually pertain to criminal matters. Thus, the Supreme Court
would be very unlikely to hear a breach of contract case involving two small businesses. As well, a
significant proportion of civil cases do not move past the Discovery stage and actually proceed to trial.

Compare And Contrast The Veldt And Marionettes Inc.
In the modern society, technology has repeatedly shown its unpredictability and unreliability.
Recently, many scary occurrences have aroused due to exceptional grade technology. The Veldt and
Marionettes Inc. by Ray Bradbury, both warn of the dangers of trusting any artificial intelligence.
These short stories support the theme that Ray Bradbury believed in, that technology hurts
humankind.
The Veldt is about children who find refuge for their feelings in a nursery that creates a virtual reality
to soothe their feelings. However, something goes wrong in the nursery causing the children to be able
to kill the parents in reality, even though the nursery was supposed to be only a virtual reality. This
shows that technology can turn its back and cause major dilemmas when abused. But, the nursery did
not only physically cause problems for the parents, it also provided a blanket of ignorance for them to
shield themselves under. The parents were too afraid to discipline their children, so they used the
nursery they had bought to allow themselves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the characters relied on fake human replicas of them, marionettes, to replace them for a

one of the marionettes to lock up its real self, in order to fall in love with his wife. Also, another
marionette was used to distract one s husband without him finding out for over a month. Once again,
both replicas were used as distractions as to what they users did not want to face: reality. This story

The Truth about Hackers In the winter of the year 2000 an eighteen year old hacker, who went by the
name Curador accessed about 26, 000 credit card numbers and put them on the internet. With the help
of an ex hacker, Curador was eventually tracked down and sentenced. All of this was explained in a
frontline interview with Curador himself also known as Raphael Gray. Who are these so called
hackers? Are peoples assumptions about teenage hackers correct? In 1995 the movie Hackers

The article, Finding ones own in cyberspace by Amy Bruckman, explains how anyone can form their
own cyber community. Bruckman says, the way a community is publicized or not publicized also
influences its character (175). Even though the hacker society has not been publicized, they are still
around. Hackers publicize the information that they want other people to hear. Their prerogative is to
portray themselves the way they want to be known. In an interview conducted with researcher Sarah
Gordon, who studies the psychology of virus writers and hackers, she states, There are lots of kids just
out joyriding on computer systems. Not everyone knows what they are doing or how serious they are
affecting other people. Therefore, many different cyber communities are formed including a few for
hackers. Also shown in Hackers is the idea that hackers not only come together through the internet,
but also in the real world. Everyday hackers do not limit their meeting places to just the cyber places
as shown in the film. The hytec environment such as raves is easy for Hollywood to associate with
hackers. However, raves and cyberspace are not the only places for hackers to meet. They can also
meet anywhere such as a coffee shop or a park. Hackers tend to be perceived as people with an
addiction or infatuation with computers. The movie shows the main character staying up all hours of

Essay on the African American Dream in Song of Solomon
The African American Dream in Song of Solomon
Like most Americans, African Americans have developed variations of the American Dream. Many
African Americans find that their dream differs from the traditional American dream in that there is no
immediate success. Sometimes the dream consists of equality via liberty or literacy, while at other
times it is a simple desire to know self through historical connection.
In Toni Morrison s Song of Solomon, Milkman was literate and had many options for further
education, if so desired. Milkman was apathetic toward education and work. In fact, he was not sure

s life. Once Milkman arrives into Shalimar, Virginia, the town in which Pilate spent much of her
earlier life, he discovers that Guitar has left him a message. As voiced by a local, Yeah. Said to tell you
your day was sure coming or your day...something like that...your day is here (262). Milkman receives
this message with shock and surprise. Not only must he work to discover his family history, but he
must do so while in danger of losing his life. He chooses to risk his life and continue his search for the

to gasp, to take another breath. But it was a living breath this time, not a dying one (279). Milkman
survives this fight and deters Guitar, but as he struggles for his life, all the worries disappear. This
struggle becomes his true struggle for life, not his fighting against those that surround his life. In this

Kingsolver s The Bean Trees
Barbara Kingsolver once said, Good fiction creates empathy. A novel takes you somewhere and asks
you to look through the eyes of another person, to live another life (Barbara Kingsolver Quotes).
Contemporary Literary Criticism includes authors critiques of Kingsolver s novel, The Bean Trees,

Kingsolver takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster with a manifold of feelings. Her novel,

Geographical facts and information present in the novel came from Kingsolver s knowledge of the
area. Hughes Walker was no Kentucky boy (Kingsolver 4). This quote acknowledged Kingsolver s
ability to distinguish the types of people who did and did not live in the area. The adventurous
childhood Kingsolver had and the area she grew up in helped influence her to write The Bean Trees.
Her longing for adventure carried over to Taylor and her personality. Kingsolver described some of the
perils Taylor would take. When I was just the littlest kid I would go pond fishing on a Sunday and
bring home the boniest mess of blue gills and maybe a bass the size of your thumb... (Kingsolver 3).
One big adventure Taylor went on was her decision to drive until she found a comfortable place that
she would call her forever home. Along with these two prominent factors of her childhood, Kingsolver
and her family also moved across the world to Africa, where she learned about another culture. At
seven years of age, Wendell announced the family would relocate to Africa so he could be more
efficacious in his practice of medicine ( The Bean Trees: Barbara Kingsolver ). While living in Africa,
Kingsolver experienced the feeling of being an outsider which led her to a more secluded life as she
believed she did not fit in. A new interest other than nature erupted in Kingsolver and she became
intrigued with people from other cultures. Everyday she wrote in a journal and later

overcoming conflicts in a working environment. Based on current strategies available on subject, it
tries to figure out some leading challenges to addressed, and extracting the best strategy for team

As a strategy to build an efficient team it is important to have a good leader and for each individual
team member to know what task he or she will take on. This is why communication is so important.
The team needs to be able to communicate with one another. To communicate issues, ideas, thoughts
and all other information that needs to be shared.
Challenges or Barriers
Some challenges or barriers that may happen with building teams are miscommunication, jealously,
members may feel as if another member is not completing his or her share of work, and some
members may not be used to working with a team. Miscommunication can lead to many issues. If
everyone in the team is not on the same page it will be hard for the team to meet their goals and
complete task. Jealously can also occur and cause a team member to not try as hard to complete his or
her share of work. If this happens the entire team will suffer. One of the most common conflicts have
been faced in working in teams is the fact that some team members may not contribute as much as
others. This can causes hurtles and may even cause groups to form within the team causing separation.
Another barrier that can arise is the fact that some team members may not be used to working with
others and may not be able to trust that his or her team will complete their share of the task.

The Duke Lacrosse team s story illustrates how a single lie can set off a storm of racial and status
related tension that has been simmering for years. The events that took place can be best described by
the ideas associated with the Conflict Theory Approach to socialization. The clash of white versus
black, rich versus poor, and privileged or entitled versus normal, made this the perfect opportunity for
media outlets to shed light on this idea of entitlement in society. Ultimately, turning what was

Innovation In Transport Industry Essay
Innovation in Transport Industry
Introduction
After Singapore independence, Singapore s bus service was provided by numerous small operators
and was highly split with both service and safety standards were low. The aggressive competition by
the private bus companies led to poor service, lack of incorporation and network economies eventually
resulting in the immediate bankruptcy of many of these companies. The government moved in a team
of civil servants, take over the fragmented companies and put together a tight outfit, making
reasonable profits. The new entity, SBS Transit, was eventually nationalized.

Since 1987, managing the three way tensions of ensuring profitability and acceptable quality had been
the job of the Public Transport Council (PTC), which regulates transport fares for both buses and
trains. In today, according to Fare Review Mechanism Committee Final Report (2013) (Anon., 2013)
the PTC implements a cap on annual fare adjustments which is based on the formula.
Exhibit 1: The Public Transport Quality
Affordability Profitability
In 1996, Singapore Government revealed one of its most aspiring and extensive plans for the
Singapore s land transport system. It contained details step the authorities to follow to achieve its
vision of a world class transport system for the city in the next 10 to 15 years time. The change to
existing schemes was proposed like revision of taxi fares. New schemes were introduced as well such
as Electronic Road Pricing (ERP), which eventually become omnipresent in Singapore. But among all
these implementation, the heart of the blueprint was that 75 Percent of all day to day trips in Singapore
would be made by public transport. In order to achieve this goal, improvements to public transport
were critical. The White Paper said that the government would enhance public transport, encouraging
more Singaporeans to switch from cars to train and bus, and easing traffic congestion. It would also
enhance railway and road networks so that commuters can

Renewable and Nonrewable Energy Resources Essay
Renewable and Nonrewable Energy Resources
Energy is used as part of everyday lives and can be used in one form or another. Energy is about doing
work and it is all around us. Animals need energy to live and machines need energy to work. Energy
exists in many forms, such as:
Light
Heat
Electrical
Mechanical
Atomic
Chemical etc.
There are different types of energy resources. They go into two groups, which are Non renewable and
Renewable.
NON RENEWABLE ENERGY RESOURCES ==============================

energy sources used by humans are non renewable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It comes from tiny plants and animals remains that used to live in oceans over a million of years ago.
As their remains built up on the ocean floor, layers of sediment were formed and gas was produced by
heat and pressure. Gas is cleaned and processed after it has been taken from the ground to get rid of
impurities. After this it is pumped into storage tanks and carried around the country. Natural gas really
has no smell but the distinctive smell has been added as a warning of leaks.
The advantages of gas are:
Shrinks when cooled
Turned into liquid, when put under pressure.
Easily portable in liquid form.
The production platform of gas to homes:
1) Gas is pumped to processing plants on shore.
2) Sent to compressor station.
3) Into storage tanks.
4) Gas companies supply it.
5) Into peoples homes.
6) Gas metres record how much gas is used.
Oil
Oil is a very important fuel and is used for many mostly to make them run smoothly. Oil is used as
one third of the energy we use today. There are many types and in many forms; one form is crude oil,
which comes straight out of the ground. It can be used in many different ways, like:
v In power stations oil is burnt for the heat energy it can provide.
v In engines that convert heat energy

Mediator Case Presentation
The Dispute at hand has been referred to mediation upon the suggestion of the Court. I have been
identified as the independent mediator for this dispute. My main objective is to fully diagnose the
situation by gathering and organizing all the relevant information. I aim to do so by building
credibility, fostering a positive relationship with the parties, and educating them about the mediation
process while securing their commitment to this process. In order to achieve this act it will require
broad psychological control and people management. Over the course of mediation procedure I will
apply the different elements of principled negotiation to achieve an agreement that is competent and
improves the existing hostile relationship of both parties.
Agreement
An essential element to the operation of the mediation process is that both parties agree and consent to
the intervention before preparatory activities begin. Therefore, a clearly written agreement should be
drafted. I plan to draft this document with the input from all parties, in order to aid interpretation and
minimise future ambiguity. The document will describe the clear intent and agreement between the
parties and will be signed by all parties and their counsels. The agreement will pay particular focus on
the following points:
Agreement to commit to mediation
Each individual party must use its best efforts to comply with the reasonable requests made by me in
order to ensure a punctual and expeditious determination

My Major At Nicholls State University
SELF EXPLORATION
My major at Nicholls State University is Mathematics with a concentration in Computer Science;
however, I plan to transfer to University of Louisiana at Lafayette to pursue a degree in Physics. The
process in which one would solve a problem has always appealed to me. In math, specifically
calculus, derivatives tell me how the original function acts and integrals tell me the relevance of the
original function to the x axis. Using a simple formula to find the answer to a seemingly impossible
problem that involves numbers that geniuses have discovered centuries ago is the most amazing thing
one could possibly do, in my opinion. Also, upon taking my computer science course, I have learned
how to write certain scripts. Writing these scripts has taught me of a connection between the person
and the computer; sort of like a collaboration.
Ten years from now, I can see myself finally being self sufficient; drinking tea in my own apartment
while watching TV and petting my kitty cat. Career wise, I want to work in an office probably creating
a new way to solve some sort of problem. I could see myself in the astrophysics, computer science, or
mathematics field. When I was younger, my dad and I would this game, Space Girl, in which I would
run around the house or outer space and I would jump on his back and flip over his head or, land on
earth. That s when I knew I wanted to work in an area that involved space and aeronautics. When I

Court of Appeal Holding Clarifies Employer Calculation of Probationary Period
A recent ruling by the California Court of Appeal clarifies when a government employer should
calculate the beginning and end of an employee s probationary period. In California Department of
Correction and Rehabilitation v. California State Personnel Board (2015) Cal.App.5th , the Court of
Appeal held that the first day of the probationary period should be counted when calculating the
probationary period, and therefore, any notice not properly served as required by statute within the
period is defective.
The case revolved around Appellant, McCauley, who was hired as a Correctional Sergeant at Avenal
State Prison. His new position began on December 2, 2008 and was subject to a 12 month
probationary period before becoming permanent. On December 1, 2009, the California Department of
Correction and Rehabilitation (CDCR) served McCauley with a notice of rejection removing him from
the position effective December 8, 2009. On December 2, 2009, another document was served on him
extending his probationary period until December 8, 2009. McCauley contended the papers were
invalid due to the CDCR s failure to comply with timing and notice requirements in relation to the
duration of the probationary period. He appealed to the California State Personnel Board which agreed
with him and revoked the notice of rejection. The CDCR thereafter challenged the finding by filing a
writ of mandate in the trial

The Pros And Cons Of Aggregation Company
After developing a game, the next step for the creators is obviously to introduce the game into the
market. However, game creators cannot deal directly with online retailers, rather they have to partner
up with an aggregation company that will do the middle between creators and retailers. The game we

multiple character classes. The game is completed when the player beats the final boss. Then, score

Essay on Violent Video Games Affect on Youth Today
In the more recent times it seems as if America s youth is becoming more violent. Concern for those
aspects in our society which influence violent acts has become an issue since the tragedy at
Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. Many feel one aspect of today s society affecting our
nation s youth in a negative manner is video games. Is this form of entertainment really a factor in
teen violence? I think not. We should blame the parents for teen violence, not video games.
John Holts article, Kinds of Discipline states that the youth watch very carefully what people around
them are doing and want to do the same. The example of these grownups is contagious (490). Now
days the media makes it seem like it s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

seeing only their own weapon and whatever is in front of them. The game boards are also set up to
resemble hospitals, and often areas that are quite similar to school hallways. One must account for the
fact that many of the weapons used are those of the sort that do not exist or are only seen in movies.
Laser guns and triple barreled grenade launchers are not lifelike and are even less lifelike when used
against four armed monsters.
Ken Schroeder s 1997 article, Halving Fun showed that when confronted with questions concerning
the appeal of these games many will say that they enjoy doing things that they could never do in real
life. In fact, a ten year old girl was quoted to say, a video game with someone smashing a guy s head
in is not going to make the kid go out and smash their friend s head in (73). So whether or not they are
desensitized to the violence does not necessarily make them more prone to it.
In the article, Video Violence: Where does the Buck Stop, Deborah Enders explained that video games
are also rated for violence. These ratings do not prevent a kid from buying a violent video game
though (27 28). This however could also be the parents fault. For most kids it is difficult to come up
with the money to buy titles for fifty plus dollars. If parents are giving their kids the money to buy

Civil War Turning Point Analysis
Before the Civil War, tensions between the North and South were rising. The North put protective
tariffs on the South for their own benefit and Lincoln planned on abolishing slavery in the expanding
territories. Those actions made the South angry and viewed them as a threat to their lifestyle. As a
result, this led to the Civil War. As the war went on, Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered to
Union General Ulysses S. Grant at the Appomattox Courthouse on April 9, 1865. This was a colossal
turning point as this led to the end of the Civil War, making the North victorious. However, during the
attempts to unite the country back together, the attempt of the Radical Republicans trying to gain
support backfired. White Southerners were so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the North need a great leader the most, they had Abraham Lincoln. President Lincoln was an
effective leader during the war. He was very firm in his orders and was a direct problem solver.
Lincoln preferred to react to problems and to circumstances that others had created rather than to
originate policies and lay out long range designs. At first, however, Lincoln believed that he should
leave the running of the army to his generals. With the generals running the Union army, the
leadership was inefficient. The ineffective leadership of the generals led to defeats of many battles in
1862. After many frustrating exchanges with his generals, Lincoln had to change leadership styles. He
became more assertive and decisive. He became more direct with his orders and used his power as
Commander in Chief to guide his army. In 1863, he issued direct instructions to his generals. Lincoln
placed General Joseph Hooker, who had repeatedly defied his suggestions, into strict military relation
to General Halleck. He told Halleck to give Hooker orders as he would have to obey them. In other
words, Lincoln was a powerful leader as he was able to give out orders efficiently. As he changed this
leadership style to a more dominant one, the Union army won important victories, notably at
Vicksburg and Gettysburg. Lincoln s leadership got the Union army moving and eventually got
General Lee to surrender at the Appomattox Court House in Virginia in 1865, winning the Civil

Obstacles In The Appalachian Trail
The Appalachian Trail is a massive walking trail that is said to be roughly 2,150 mile long from end to
end (pg. 7). This trail is one of few enormous walking trails in the United States. It runs from Georgia
all the way to Maine. People set off to walk this trail every spring. They may walk it straight through
or in sections. Many obstacles are involved throughout the trail such as: animals, the weather,
diseases, and even plants can be a danger as Bryson states multiple times throughout his book. People
walk these trails to get a sense of nature that one would not normally feel on a regular daily basis
elsewhere. The problem with this is that it creates a division between us and nature. We now have to

He talks a lot about the reason and way the trail was created. He faces many challenges on his walk
such as the wildlife (bears), the weather (snow), and he even talks about giving up quite a few times.
Another way that Americans are so far disconnected to nature is because we know that we can go and
sleep in a nice warm bed in a heated house full of food and everything needed to live. That causes a
large disconnection. Now days when a family goes camping they think heat, running water, and
electricity still counts. That is not the camping I grew up with where we bring water and it s typically
cold, the food made is pre bought and roasted over an open flame, and we do not have any electricity.
This is otherwise known as rough camping. Being out in the woods can be a challenge if not properly
prepared for the obstacles faced. The book A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson was a great read and
very much exhibited the division between Americans and the natural world people tend to forget. It
takes true dedication to walk through the Appalachian Trail. With sweat, time, and dedication it will

Bertrand Delanoe, Mayor of Paris.
(Quoted shortly after the inauguration of the Vélib system, July 2007.)
According to his inauguration, the Vélib system appoints the need of both personalized and mobility
and low carbon solutions for urban transport passenger system. The main modal for this system is to
provide low environments that reduce the impact of mobility service for large cities and urban centers.
For this application, Vélib use Cyclocity as the basic ideas to be user friendly as possible.
The main components of the system are the bike, the stations where they are attached and the software
that can track the bikes journey and the rental time of each journey made. One of the common
rationales cited by bike programs is that they provide an effective substitute for at least some of the
large numbers of short distance trips made by cars in urban areas, often with only one person in the
car. Such trips make poor use of scarce public resources, and of course carry with them a heavy
environmental burden.
If many passengers tend to use private vehicle, this objective cannot be achieved. However Paris has

Health Insurance System
In the United States, there are three basic systems in which healthcare are financed: private insurance,
public insurance, and uninsured. Within private and public insurance, there are several different types
of plans that assist in financing health care. Private health insurance utilizes various healthcare
providers to provide cost sharing in receiving healthcare services through benefits provided by
employers or for premiums (Shi Singh, 2015). Some examples of healthcare providers are commercial

their families or veterans and their families with health insurance plans for health care services at a

John Hancock Is The Founding Father

Founding Fathers are well known and everyone knows a little about each one. John Hancock, for me

John Hancock, who was born in Braintree, Massachusetts on January 23, 1737 grew up with his
mother, father, and two siblings. At a very early age, Hancock s father passed away and his mother

After graduating in 1750, John continued his education at Harvard University. In 1754, he earned his

The Demise of a Patriarchal Society Throughout history, women have endured constant oppression

was the perfect option. Being that the movie was based on the true event of the RMS Titanic sinking, I
knew I could also find a lot of research during the time of the Titanic to help strengthen my paper. The
movie Titanic took place in the early 1900 s, a time rich in sociological issues. Their way of life was a
lot different than ours today. Some major sociological concepts that were shown several times in the
movie were, social stratification, gender inequality and sexism, inequality of income, and
discrimination. During this time period people faced huge gaps in wealth, gender, class, and race.
Gaps between the rich and poor were extreme. The wealthy were rich and the poor were in poverty.
The middle class was not a common standing within society: you were either upper or lower class. It
was very difficult to rise above the lower class standing, and easier to fall below the upper class line
(Prezi web). Men dominated in almost all social standings; voting, ownership of land, professions,
wealth, etc. Women were still viewed as property and in most ways, treated as such. The gap between
the upper and lower class caused discrimination amongst them. Lower class was treated poorly by the
upper class and seen as less worthy. In my paper I plan to include all of these sociological issues, and
clearly connect them within the movie, Titanic. The movie Titanic was a drama,

Essay On Irish Immigration
Just recently, over 4 million immigrants came to the United States from Europe. According to A
Library of Congress Book: Immigrants, By 1890, New York City alone will have twice as many Irish
as Dublin... and as many Germans as Hamburg. Over 75% of the immigrants are from Ireland and
Germany. Now, since it was obviously not a coincidence that 4 million people were added to the
United States population so quickly, you wonder what the reasons were behind their large movement.
The Irish had the motivation to move when, in the mid 1840s, a potato blight, caused the famine. The
late blight , which is, according to Britannica.com, a disease of potato and tomato plants that is caused
by the water mold, Phytophthora infestans, that occurs in humid ... Show more content on

They viewed the United States by its offer of greater economic opportunity. They thrived for more
freedom from government control and left Germany to find that. Most of the German immigrants
came to mid western states and became farmers. Those who were not hired as farmers were anything
from tailors to servants to clerks to food merchant at Urban Centers. In my opinion, our country is
populated enough and we do not need people from other countries joining in now. There is a reason
that Germans are called Germans, and that Irish are called Irish. It is because of the fact that being a
German is because you are from Germany and same with any other country. As long as we are staying
in our country, why must others leave theirs? We are called Americans because we are from America
and everyone else gets their title because of their nationality, place of birth, or simply where the family
originated. This could also cause problems for our country with a largely increasing population. If you
think about it, you realize that if our country doesn t change with the new population, folks may have
to either build new homes or move in with residents of the area. People have different ideas but this
can seriously cause major issues for our country. I am not sure that the United States would even be
considered as our country

Financial Crisis in This Time is Different by Reinhart and...
People always think that the technology renovations, institutional changes and experience gains can
make the world emerge from financial crisis saying that this time is different . But they may be too
optimistic. The outrageous truth is that each new financial crisis is not predicted or forestalled. As
Reinhart and Rogoff said in their book This Time is Different , technology is changing, fashion is
changing, but self deception of governments and investors are not.
A banking crisis usually refers to a situation in a general market adjustment when faith in banking
institutions falls, and people start trying to move their money to other places for safe keeping.
(RationalWiki) If we need to find something in common for all financial crises, that will be excessive
build ups of debt. Excessive debt accumulation makes banking industry more profitable and more
stable than it really is and it will easily be ignored at the beginning. However, if the equilibrate has
been destroyed, systemic risk will grow and increases more quickly and greater than usual.
Cyprus is an island country in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, which is based on agricultural
production and tourism. In the first half of 2003, under the influence of global economic crisis and the
European Crisis, the crises of Cyprus struck and caused higher unemployment and lower economic
increase. As a country in Eurozone, Cyprus attracted large amount of deposit funding from overseas
with its increasing nation s credit

Using One-Stage Cluster Sampling
In cluster sampling, instead of selecting all the subjects from the entire population right off, the
researcher must take several steps in order to gather his or her sample population.
First, the researcher must select various groups or clusters, and then from each cluster, the researcher
begins to choose the individual subjects by either simple random or systematic random sampling. The
researcher can even opt to include the entire cluster and not just a subset from it depending on the
design study they have chosen.
For my particular study, I have chosen to use a simple random control trial, which is pretty common
for the testing of behavioral sciences. I have also chosen to use one stage cluster sample, this sample
includes all of the children with PTSD and severe forms of trauma that were picked from all the
randomly selected clusters in the sample set. I did this to keep my internal validity high and avoid
selection bias, as well as minimizing any other form of bias and threats to internal validity by
equalizing the conditions on all other influences except for the ... Show more content on

There are numerous ways to keep a tight control over the internal validity of your research study
which is extremely important in the studies overall accuracy. The same concept can be attributed to
the studies external validity. Having the study include an accurate range of, important demographic
characteristics of the participants including gender, age, and sex can enhance external validity. The
setting scope or range should also be an accurate representation including clinical therapists, and study

Theme Of Life Lies In Blanche Dubois
Dealing with the harsh truths of life can be tough for anyone to handle, which is why people tell
themselves lies. These lies are called life lies a falsehood used to rationalize the lifestyle people are
living or actions they have committed. Tennessee Williams and Henrik Ibsen investigate how life lies
can turn into delusions a state of mind or way of life when they are used to cope with the stresses of
everyday life. Williams protagonist, Blanche DuBois, was a former southern belle forced to move in
with her sister, Stella, after her husband s suicide and being evicted from Belle Reve, her family home.
To cope with these traumatic events, Blanche decided to recreate her character. To do so, she lied to
the people around about her sinful past because she wanted to appear to them as the pure, southern
belle she once was. As the lies piled up, she came to believe them as truth, therefore, creating her
delusion. Blanche only came to further and more deeply believe her delusion as the play progressed.
On the other hand, Ibsen s protagonist, Nora, had been taken advantage of her whole life. She was
merely a pawn of the two most important men in her life: her father and husband. Unlike Blanche,
Nora s delusion was innate she was taught these lies were the truth from birth, whereas Blanche
consciously created her delusions to protect her from past sins. Through a series of realizations, Nora
came to see the truth of the lie she was living. Nora was a doll confined to the walls and ways of
Torvald, her husband s, doll house. Tennessee Williams, in A Streetcar Named Desire, and Henrik
Ibsen, in A Doll s House, employ life lies portrayed as delusions as coping mechanisms; Ibsen
explored how a new life and freedom can be gained from a realization of one s delusion, while
Williams explored how unwillingness to accept a delusion can further trap and confine people.
Williams utilized the symbols of light and darkness to hide Blanche physically just as she used lies to
cover up and cope with her tainted past. Blanche avoided direct exposure to light because she was
afraid of exposing herself and, therefore, her past. She [couldn t] stand a naked lightbulb in Stella s
house because of the fear it would expose her

Wilfred Owen conveys such notions in his poems Dulce et Decorum est and Futility , which detail his own perspective upon the Great War by underlining the emotional and physical exhaustion caused to the soldiers. Dulce et decorum est focuses on the grotesque horrors of war, as well the ever declining human nature. Futility however details the uselessness of war and questions the pointless meaning of life. Through the use of metaphors, and other poetic techniques, both the poems have conveyed the antiwar themes and as a result, dictates a thorough insight of the consequences of war. Although the documentary targets an American audience, its representation of capitalist corruption resonates globally. • 4. Essay On My Second Attack My second attack is an offline dictionary attack against team 10718 (Will Xu). Will stores the salted SHA1 hash of each user s pin in their card file. He salts the hashes by concatenating the pin with the user s name and their account creation time in seconds since Jan 1, 1970. However, usernames can easily be found by examining the card s file name and the creation time can be found by examining the file s creation date. As a result, this salting doesn t do much to protect against an offline dictionary attack against a single user. My attack examines .card files and prints out their associated pins. It does this by conducting a brute force attack in which it guesses creation times and pins and checks the value of Hash(username || pin guess || time guess) against the value of the hash which is stored in the .card file. Because I m able to make good guesses about the card creation time and the pin is short enough to turn up in a small dictionary of possible pins, this attack typically runs in under a second. While it would be possible to examine the card file s creation time to accurately estimate the timestamp which was used in the salt, my attack code simply guesses ... • 5. Amazon Rainforest Fragmentation III. Environmental Issues Deforestation. Deforestation is one of the most critical problems in Brazil. Destroying natural habitat is a direct threat to biodiversity (Wilson et al., 2015). Historically, deforestation rates have been high in Brazil fluctuating between 25,000 to 50,000 kilometers squared per year. If deforestation were to continue at the historical rates, then most of the Amazon would disappear within 50 to 100 years (Shukla, 1990). While contemporary deforestation rates are not so severe, they are still high and have recently begun to increase. In 2009, Brazilian deforestation was estimated at 7,008 kilometers squared (May et al., 2011). After a slight decrease in the deforestation rate, with a valley in 2012 at 4,571 kilometers ... Species richness of many organisms has been shown to decline with fragment area. Habitat fragmentation also causes the alteration of local ecosystem processes leading to biodiversity loss (Wilson et al., 2015). About 70% of remaining forests in the world are within 1 km of the forest s edge (Haddad et al., 2015). Having more edge means the fragment is more susceptible to impacts from wind, heat, and light. Multinational Banks and Financial Institutions People in the modern world keep their funds stored in some type of financial institution, whether it s a small local bank that only operates in a small town or a large multinational bank that has offices in every major city around the world and caters to millions of people. With the responsibility of handling the assets of millions of people banks are sometimes accused for activities that may be illegal, such as money laundering: the method of concealing illegally acquired money or invasion of a client s account. Unlike small banks, Multinational banks are the most susceptible to these accusations. Multinational banks have to abide to the laws of multiple countries and any action they do could cause controversy, whether it s considered good in the bank s eyes or if it s genuinely bad. While fiscal government policies that affect revenue collection and expenditure set the limits for multinational banks, ultimately multinational banks should be held to a higher international set of regulations. Their actions may be legal in some countries while illegal in others, causing various problems that could lead to the closure of offices in one country due to an action in another. The government moved in a team of civil servants, take over the fragmented companies and put together a tight outfit, making reasonable profits. My main objective is to fully diagnose the situation by gathering and organizing all the relevant information. I aim to do so by building credibility, fostering a positive relationship with the parties, and educating them about the mediation process while securing their commitment to this process. In order to achieve this act it will require broad psychological control and people management. Over the course of mediation procedure I will apply the different elements of principled negotiation to achieve an agreement that is competent and improves the existing hostile relationship of both parties. Agreement An essential element to the operation of the mediation process is that both parties agree and consent to the intervention before preparatory activities begin. Therefore, a clearly written agreement should be drafted. I plan to draft this document with the input from all parties, in order to aid interpretation and minimise future ambiguity. The document will describe the clear intent and agreement between the parties and will be signed by all parties and their counsels. The process in which one would solve a problem has always appealed to me. In math, specifically calculus, derivatives tell me how the original function acts and integrals tell me the relevance of the original function to the x axis. Using a simple formula to find the answer to a seemingly impossible problem that involves numbers that geniuses have discovered centuries ago is the most amazing thing one could possibly do, in my opinion. Also, upon taking my computer science course, I have learned how to write certain scripts. Writing these scripts has taught me of a connection between the person and the computer; sort of like a collaboration. Ten years from now, I can see myself finally being self sufficient; drinking tea in my own apartment while watching TV and petting my kitty cat. Court of Appeal Holding Clarifies Employer Calculation of Probationary Period A recent ruling by the California Court of Appeal clarifies when a government employer should calculate the beginning and end of an employee s probationary period. In California Department of Correction and Rehabilitation v. California State Personnel Board (2015) Cal.App.5th , the Court of Appeal held that the first day of the probationary period should be counted when calculating the probationary period, and therefore, any notice not properly served as required by statute within the period is defective. The case revolved around Appellant, McCauley, who was hired as a Correctional Sergeant at Avenal State Prison. His new position began on December 2, 2008 and was subject to a 12 month probationary period before becoming permanent. On December 1, 2009, the California Department of Correction and Rehabilitation (CDCR) served McCauley with a notice of rejection removing him from the position effective December 8, 2009. On December 2, 2009, another document was served on him extending his probationary period until December 8, 2009. McCauley contended the papers were invalid due to the CDCR s failure to comply with timing and notice requirements in relation to the duration of the probationary period. Many feel one aspect of today s society affecting our nation s youth in a negative manner is video games. Is this form of entertainment really a factor in teen violence? I think not. We should blame the parents for teen violence, not video games. Laser guns and triple barreled grenade launchers are not lifelike and are even less lifelike when used against four armed monsters. The North put protective tariffs on the South for their own benefit and Lincoln planned on abolishing slavery in the expanding territories. At first, however, Lincoln believed that he should leave the running of the army to his generals. With the generals running the Union army, the leadership was inefficient. The ineffective leadership of the generals led to defeats of many battles in 1862. After many frustrating exchanges with his generals, Lincoln had to change leadership styles. He became more assertive and decisive. He became more direct with his orders and used his power as Commander in Chief to guide his army. In 1863, he issued direct instructions to his generals. Lincoln placed General Joseph Hooker, who had repeatedly defied his suggestions, into strict military relation to General Halleck. He told Halleck to give Hooker orders as he would have to obey them. In other words, Lincoln was a powerful leader as he was able to give out orders efficiently. The main components of the system are the bike, the stations where they are attached and the software that can track the bikes journey and the rental time of each journey made. One of the common rationales cited by bike programs is that they provide an effective substitute for at least some of the large numbers of short distance trips made by cars in urban areas, often with only one person in the car. The late blight , which is, according to Britannica.com, a disease of potato and tomato plants that is caused by the water mold, Phytophthora infestans, that occurs in humid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They viewed the United States by its offer of greater economic opportunity. They thrived for more freedom from government control and left Germany to find that. Most of the German immigrants came to mid western states and became farmers. Those who were not hired as farmers were anything from tailors to servants to clerks to food merchant at Urban Centers. In my opinion, our country is populated enough and we do not need people from other countries joining in now. There is a reason that Germans are called Germans, and that Irish are called Irish. It is because of the fact that being a German is because you are from Germany and same with any other country. As long as we are staying in our country, why must others leave theirs? We are called Americans because we are from America and everyone else gets their title because of their nationality, place of birth, or simply where the family originated. This could also cause problems for our country with a largely increasing population. If you think about it, you realize that if our country doesn t change with the new population, folks may have to either build new homes or move in with residents of the area. People have different ideas but this can seriously cause major issues for our country. I am not sure that the United States would even be considered as our country ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Financial Crisis in This Time is Different by Reinhart and... People always think that the technology renovations, institutional changes and experience gains can make the world emerge from financial crisis saying that this time is different . But they may be too optimistic. The outrageous truth is that each new financial crisis is not predicted or forestalled. As Reinhart and Rogoff said in their book This Time is Different , technology is changing, fashion is changing, but self deception of governments and investors are not. A banking crisis usually refers to a situation in a general market adjustment when faith in banking institutions falls, and people start trying to move their money to other places for safe keeping. (RationalWiki) If we need to find something in common for all financial crises, that will be excessive build ups of debt. Excessive debt accumulation makes banking industry more profitable and more stable than it really is and it will easily be ignored at the beginning. However, if the equilibrate has been destroyed, systemic risk will grow and increases more quickly and greater than usual. • 45. Using One-Stage Cluster Sampling In cluster sampling, instead of selecting all the subjects from the entire population right off, the researcher must take several steps in order to gather his or her sample population. First, the researcher must select various groups or clusters, and then from each cluster, the researcher begins to choose the individual subjects by either simple random or systematic random sampling. The researcher can even opt to include the entire cluster and not just a subset from it depending on the design study they have chosen. For my particular study, I have chosen to use a simple random control trial, which is pretty common for the testing of behavioral sciences. I have also chosen to use one stage cluster sample, this sample includes all of the children with PTSD and severe forms of trauma that were picked from all the randomly selected clusters in the sample set. I did this to keep my internal validity high and avoid selection bias, as well as minimizing any other form of bias and threats to internal validity by equalizing the conditions on all other influences except for the ... There are numerous ways to keep a tight control over the internal validity of your research study which is extremely important in the studies overall accuracy. The same concept can be attributed to the studies external validity. Having the study include an accurate range of, important demographic characteristics of the participants including gender, age, and sex can enhance external validity. The setting scope or range should also be an accurate representation including clinical therapists, and study ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Theme Of Life Lies In Blanche Dubois Dealing with the harsh truths of life can be tough for anyone to handle, which is why people tell themselves lies. These lies are called life lies a falsehood used to rationalize the lifestyle people are living or actions they have committed. Tennessee Williams and Henrik Ibsen investigate how life lies can turn into delusions a state of mind or way of life when they are used to cope with the stresses of everyday life. Williams protagonist, Blanche DuBois, was a former southern belle forced to move in with her sister, Stella, after her husband s suicide and being evicted from Belle Reve, her family home. To cope with these traumatic events, Blanche decided to recreate her character. To do so, she lied to the people around about her sinful past because she wanted to appear to them as the pure, southern belle she once was. As the lies piled up, she came to believe them as truth, therefore, creating her delusion. Blanche only came to further and more deeply believe her delusion as the play progressed. On the other hand, Ibsen s protagonist, Nora, had been taken advantage of her whole life. She was merely a pawn of the two most important men in her life: her father and husband. Unlike Blanche, Nora s delusion was innate she was taught these lies were the truth from birth, whereas Blanche consciously created her delusions to protect her from past sins. Through a series of realizations, Nora came to see the truth of the lie she was living. Nora was a doll confined to the walls and ways of Torvald, her husband s, doll house. Tennessee Williams, in A Streetcar Named Desire, and Henrik Ibsen, in A Doll s House, employ life lies portrayed as delusions as coping mechanisms; Ibsen explored how a new life and freedom can be gained from a realization of one s delusion, while Williams explored how unwillingness to accept a delusion can further trap and confine people. Williams utilized the symbols of light and darkness to hide Blanche physically just as she used lies to cover up and cope with her tainted past. Blanche avoided direct exposure to light because she was afraid of exposing herself and, therefore, her past.
