Pursuing A Rewarding Career As A Registered Nurse
I have enjoyed a very rewarding career as a Registered Nurse for the past twenty one years. I was so
fortunate to have positive experiences with educators while on the path to working toward my nursing
degree. I feel completely blessed and fortunate that I was able to find my passion at such a young age.
For many years, I have had the opportunity to work with the students in my district s Health Science
program while working as a staff nurse at my local hospital. Their curiosity, excitement, and
compassionate feeling about healthcare has encouraged me to pursue a career in education so that I
can continue to share my passion and have a hand in training the young students today for an exciting
and rewarding career in healthcare like I have

Decrease In Teen Suicide Research
Suicide is a very difficult topic to discuss, especially for those that have either attempted to end their
life or for the families of those that ended their life. However, it is a topic that continues to cause
headlines and tragedy as suicide attempts have been more and more common but studies have shown a
decline in teen suicide (Kolves, De Leon, 2015). According to Quinan Davidson et al (2013) an
average of 220, 000 people between the ages of 10 and 24 commit suicide. Suicide is considered to be
a death by a self injurious behavior in which the intent is to die (CDC.gov, 2015). According to the
Centers of Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) (2015) a total of 41,149 equaling to 113 suicides
per day or one in every 13 minutes. Suicide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the U.S, males tend to take their life four times more than woman and account for almost 78% of all
suicides (CDC.gov, 2015). In the United States the youngest child to take their life is between the ages
of 5 to 9, in 2001 and 2010 a total of 7 children took their own life in each year (WHO.int). Data taken
from the World Health Organization (2010) and Kolves and De Leon (2015) teens between the ages of
14 to 19 and young adults between the ages of 20 and 25 tend to have higher mortality rate due to
suicide, however there is a decrease with middle adulthood between the ages of 30 45, and once again
it suicide rates increase in middle aged adults between the ages of 50 and 55. In a recent study
conducted by Kolves and De Leon (2014), they found that in 11 counties in South American, suicide
rates increases for both female and males, from
1.04 to 2.32 for boys, and from 1.45 to 2.30 for girls between 2000 and 2009. Suicide rates continue to
remain the same in USSR countries such as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia, it is believed that the
high rates of suicide can be related to the economic and financial problems in the last decade, as well
as drugs and prostitution and a corrupt government (Kolves De Leon,

ASSESSING LEARNERS IN LIFELONG LEARNING
Learning Outcome
Be able to conduct and record assessments in accordance with internal and external processes and
requirements
2.1 Review the assessment requirements and related procedures of learning programmes (AQA.
2012).Assessment is the process by which a learner s skills and knowledge are reviewed in order to
evaluate what they have learnt or in the case of NVQs, how they are performing against the
competencies they are required to demonstrate. I see classroom assessment as having four main
purposes. The first three include: Diagnostic or needs assessment purpose: To determine what students
already know so teachers can decide the topics and approaches to use.
Formative purpose for teacher: To assess ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When teachers classroom assessments become an integral part of the instructional process and a
central tenet in their efforts to help students learn, the benefits of assessment for both students and
teachers will be boundless. The purpose of these assessments is to ascertain the student s levels of
understanding and see if there is any room for improvement and whether there are any weaknesses so
as to be able to correct them. My focus is to improve my assessments to make them motivating and to
enhance student learning.
Assessment challenges that have been identified are as follows: Figuring out what really is important
for students to know and be able to do in history.
Teaching the skills of doing history in a world of testing that often seems to value only factual
knowledge.
Identifying and using assessments that provide teachers with better information than only multiple
choice exams.
Getting students motivated to do a good job on essays and other written work.
Helping students learn to improve their own work and produce quality products.
Holding students accountable for quality work, as opposed to them just turning in something.
The assessments have to be conducted and recorded in accordance with internal and external
processes and requirements. I use these assessments to evaluate my practice and to identify any
opportunities for improvement.

Review of American Beauty Essay
Review of American Beauty
The 1999 Academy Award winning movie American Beauty has many major plots and shows the
reality of American life. This movie uses symbolism to get ideas across in many different situations
and it shows the actuality of life, it is not always what it looks like on the outside.
Lester and Carolyn Burnham seem like they have a perfect marriage and a perfect family life while in
turn they are having a lot of marriage problems. Lester is going through a midlife crisis; he quits his
high paying job for a fast food service job at Mr. Smiley s and he buys the car of his dreams. His wife,
Carolyn, is so upset by his new freedom that she has an affair with one of her colleagues and is caught

She is upset by the marriage problems her parents are having and blames her father for all of them.
Jane is also upset that her father is hitting on her friend Angela and he wants to have an affair with her.
Angela thinks Jane s father is sexy and she hits on him too, which makes Jane have problems with her
friend.
Ricky is a shy boy who moves in next door to Jane. All the kids at Jane s school consider him a freak ,
but him and Jane have a lot more in common than she might think. They end up becoming involved
with each other and realize that they both come from broken homes, and they both hate their fathers.
Ricky s father is an ex marine who beats him when he is upset and even though Jane s father does not
beat her and it would appear that their relationship is perfect, it is not. Ricky shows Jane a film he
made of a plastic bag blowing in the wind and he said it was the most beautiful thing he had ever
filmed. The plastic bag symbolizes freedom, the way it just blows freely in the wind. Ricky does not
experience this freedom because of his father and how strict he is.
Ricky is having homosexual relations with Lester, Jane s father, for money. One night Ricky s
homophobic father saw Ricky with Lester through the window and he forced him to move out of the
house. Ricky then goes to Jane s house and asks her to move to New York with him and she says yes.
Then, they hear a loud noise from downstairs, Ricky s father shot Lester

Walt Disney Impact On The Economy
Introduction Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is a premier enterprise operating out of Florida. This
organization started back in 1971 by founders Walt and Roy Disney. Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is
the most visited theme park in the world. Over 50 million people visit these parks and resorts year
round. The organization is not only known for the services they provide, but the economic impact and
the programs offered to their employees. This writing assignment, I will elaborate on how this
company affects the economy, production, attitudes and motivation of their workers. Economic Impact
One of the many ways Disney affect the economy is by employing thousands of people. Currently, the
company has over 160,000 employees worldwide and counting. According to Walt Disney World Fun
Facts, the parks and resorts cover nearly 45 squares miles of land, the resort itself is the size of San
Francisco. However, one of the most amazing things about the land Disney owns, one third is for
conservation (Disney World Fun Facts, 2016). Economic success at this magnitude do not happen
overnight, but with vision and making the right decisions. One thing Disney had to consider early on
was the impact their decisions would make economically. According to Townsend (2002),
The economic way of thinking improves on common sense by looking beneath surface appearances.
Faced with a problem, an economist thinks in terms of variables rather than fixed quantities, seeking
systematic relationships

The Four Books Of Gospel Are Found In The New Testament
The four books of Gospel are found in the New Testament with names of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and
John. These four Gospels were included in the New Testament disregarding which is most accurate,
because all four Gospels portray different perspectives of Jesus. The four books of Gospel are divided
into Synoptics (Matthew, Mark, Luke), and John. Matthew portrays Jesus as Messiah, Mark portrays
Him as Suffering Servant, and Luke portrays Jesus as Universal Savior. The Gospel of John portrays
Jesus as Son of God. John is not part of the Synoptics Gospel because Synoptics focus on God s
kingdom while John focuses on who Jesus is. Each book supports their views of Jesus with their texts.

Mark 8:31 (NRSV) is written, Then he began to teach them that the Son of Man must undergo great

as Son of Man) that He must be rejected suffer and be killed by the people who were supposed to
welcome him. Jesus was later seen in end of Mark that He was crucified by teachers of law and
resurrected after death. Mark 10:45 (NRSV) remarks, For the Son of Man came not to be served but to
serve, and to give his life a ransom for many. Jesus came to the world so that He could serve other
people because he loved them. It was shown in Gospel of John how Jesus was washing disciples feet
before the Passover even though He was their teacher. Mark 10:34 (NRSV) describes, they will mock
him, and spit upon him, and flog him, and kill him; and after three days he will rise again. The
horrible things described in here was later fulfilled by Jesus which He suffered Mark s primary focus
of Jesus serving and suffering without other details distracting the readers. The Gospel of Mark is
divided into first half about Jesus serving in His ministry and second half about Jesus suffering. The
first half of Mark contains serving of Jesus by Casting out demons (Mark 1:21 34 and 5:1 19 NRSV),
healing leprosy (Mark 1:40 45 NRSV), and so on. The second half contains Jesus

Comparing Shlomo Yitzchaki And Rav Moshe Feinstein
Ralph Waldo Emerson, an American writer of poetry, lecturer, essayist and leader of the
Transcendentalist movement in the 19th century once said, A great man is always willing to be little .
Meaning that the best, brightest, strongest, bravest, smartest, most courageous people are always
willing to duck down to their colleagues level and make them feel as equals even though they aren t.
This quote could not better describe the greatest people of their respective generations, Rav Shlomo
Yitzchaki (a.k.a Rashi) and Rav Moshe Feinstein. These two great Jewish men asserted themselves as
leader of the Jewish people in each of their times and fought valiantly for to keep the Jewish people

Rav Shlomo Yitzchaki was born to Rabbi Yitzchak and his wife (not much is known about her) in
1040 in the town of Troyes, located in Northeastern France historically southeast of Paris and as the
Capital of Champagne, where some say he received his early education. His father s distinguished
family traced itself back to Rabbi Yochanan Hasandlar, a student of the tanna, a torah sage around the
end of the second Jewish Temple, Rabbi Akiva ben Yosef, lived from about 50 C.E to about 132 C.E,
and from there to King David, who was leader of the ancient Israelite kingdom as it retook its
homeland. His mother was the sister of Rabbi Shimon Hazaken, the elder. With his wife, Rashi had
three daughters but no sons, and their names were Yocheved, who married Rabbi Meir ben Shmuel
(one of Rashi s greatest students), Miriam who married Yehuda be Nathan (also known as the Rivan,
the completer of Rashi s commentary to the tractate of Makkot), and Rachel. In turn, their children the
Rashbam, Rabbenu Tam etc. who became later known as the tosafist were practically commentators
on Rashi comments. When it came to supporting his family, Rashi supported them through wine
although it s unclear what he did in the process of it s creation, whether it was creating it or selling it.
Furthermore, he was the unofficial Rabbi of the entire Troyes/Europe, because he was the greatest
torah scholar of his time and had his own Yeshiva. Therefore, he probably received money through
answering people s halachic questions. Unfortunately, on July 13, 1105 Rashi died at the age of 65, yet
had managed to be recognized as the foremost leader of his generations and write a commentary on
more than no one had done before him or after him. To conclude, Rashi

America s Miscegenation Anxiety And The State Of Virginia
Even through contradictory politics and the use of religion as justification in the formation and
adherence to these segregation laws, the resolve of individuals have collectively played a tremendous
role in racial equality in all facets of life.
Before the Civil War, the Constitution gave rights, individual rights, only against the government.
After the Civil War, the 14th Amendment clearly defined national citizenship and prohibited any
single state to deprive any person of life, liberty or property without due process of law, to deny any
citizen the privileges and immunities of citizenship, or to deny any person the equal protection of the
laws. After the Supreme Court ultimately neutralized this amendment through its decision in ... Show

Is it not the foundation of a greater or less share of beauty in the two races? Are not the fine mixtures
of red and white, the expressions of every passion by greater or less suffusions of colour in the one,
preferable to that eternal monotony, which reigns in the countenances, that immovable veil of black
which covers all the emotions of the other race? Add to these, flowing hair, a more elegant symmetry
of form, their own judgment in favour o f the whites, declared by their preference o f them, as
uniformly as is the preference o f the Oran ootan for the black women over those o f his own species.
(Jefferson 186, italics mine) Reading Jefferson s constructed history in Notes against his lived history
his own liaisons with women not of his own species enters us into the profound rhetorical
contradictions of interracialism in America.
In many cases, the success of the major legal battles during the Civil Rights era depended on the
effort, courage, and tenacity of individuals. Richard Loving and Mildred Jeter were two such
individuals. By marrying one another, Richard being white, and Mildred being considered negro,
Richard and Mildred broke the Virginia Racial Integrity Act

Tutankhamun Burial
Ancient Egypt revolved around the belief that one was reborn after death and would be guaranteed
eternal life if the body was preserved and buried properly. Tutankhamun became a pharaoh of Egypt at
the age of nine during the 18th Dynasty. His rain lasted approximately 10 years when he died
unexpectedly and consequently his tomb and burial was rushed leaving him with a much smaller and
less impressive tomb that was common for 18th dynasty tombs. Tutankhamun s tomb was discovered
still sealed by British archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922 in the Valley of the Kings. Evidently, as to
the undersized scale of the tomb it was hardly touched by grave robbers as every other tomb had been,
leaving the modern world with great treasures and artefacts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These paintings, through limited, show evidence that Tutankhamun s funeral preparations comply with
Osirin burial customs. The paintings depict scenes of Tutankhamun s preparation and voyage to the
afterworld. The northern wall of the burial room portray scenes from the Opening of the mouth
ceremony and Tutankhamun, followed by his Ka, being greeted by Osiris. The Opening of the mouth
ceremony was perfumed by Ay, Tutankhamun s successor as he had no heirs to the throne, and it
allowed the deceased to be reborn again in the afterlife and keep all his senses. Tutankhamun is
greeted by the sky goddess Nut who is a symbol of resurrection, representing the dead pharaoh being
reborn into the afterlife. A scarab beetles is displayed above a solar boat on the wast wall symbolising
new life and the twelve baboon deities represent the hours of the night the pharaoh must travel to be
reborn. On the southern wall of the burial room Tutankhamun is pictured being welcomed to the
afterlife by Isis, Horus and Anubis. Both Horus and Anubis are holding Ankhs which convey
Tutankhamun s eternal life in the afterworld. Each wall depicts a different scenes with the similar
theme of resurrection, new life and eternal life, all concepts associated with Osirian funerary

Hr Role In The Military Profession
No one is more professional than I, I am a Noncommissioned Officer, a leader of Soldiers . The NCO
creed tells us that the expectation is to be professional. What does being professional consist of? The
Army is an American Profession of Arms, a vocation comprised of experts certified in the ethical
application of land combat power, serving under civilian authority, entrusted to defend the
Constitution and the right and interests of the American people. In this essay, I will identify the
importance of the role of Human Resources (HR) Sergeant in the Profession of Arms.
As you look at the Army and think of it as a profession of Arms, you have to look at the balancing
roles of professional leaders. First, is the role of the strategic leaders, they balance the relationship
between the Army s four fields of expertise and its current and potential future operating environment.
The second area of balance is the relationship between the Army s culture and climate and its
institutional practices. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These professionals devote years of service and attend countless training classes in order to become
experts in the chosen field. I feel that as HR professionals we have the role is to educate, mentor,
develop junior enlisted members in the military, and hope they truly know we care about them. It is
our duty as leaders to always place their needs above our own and honor the uniform, pledge an oath
we took when we decided to serve as a HR Sergeant. As a member of this special profession I have
experienced frustrations when Soldier have not been informed, but have had the opportunity to
witness great Non Commissioned Officers work together to help our Soldiers with difficult issues and
situations for the betterment of Soldier, Command, and unity. This is why I believe the HR Sergeant

The Beauty Of Spring, By Gerard Manley Hopkins
At first, Gerard Manley Hopkins s poem, Spring, seems to be just about the season of spring per its
title. However, in considering Hopkins s Catholic Christian background, this poem is also about
beauty and sin and their effects on nature in relation to the story in the book of Genesis about Adam
and Eve. Spring is a Petrarchan sonnet split into an octet and sestet and is organized in such a way to
allow Hopkins to discuss beauty and how it (through sin) corrupts itself and humanity personified in
the season of spring and Adam and Eve, accordingly. The themes of the beauty of spring and the
nature of the Garden and humanity are essential in the poet s Christian understanding of sin and the
Incarnation and Passion of Jesus Christ. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, in the case of this poem by Hopkins, no problem is introduced in the octet, but is in the
sestet. Hopkins signifies this turn by asking a question about the nature of spring s beauty and where it
is from, just as juice is the characteristic flavor and essence of fruit in one meaning of the word (OED
n.1.a.). Hopkins answers this question by mentioning the Christian view of the earth s sweet being in
the beginning, thus referring to the Garden of Eden in Genesis (10 11). As inferred by Hopkins in the
first stanza and the Christian tradition which he holds, the Garden was a place of life and flourishing
rather than death, and the beginning refers to the creation story involving Adam and Eve. Thus,
according to Hopkins, the beauty of spring is identified in the sestet as a strain from the earth s sweet
being in the beginning in the Garden of Eden (10 11). Furthermore, the sestet involves a change of
word choice and figurative language instead of merely a topic change. After describing where spring s
beauty arises, the poet prayerfully addresses Christ and asks him to retrieve this strain of spring s
beauty before it cloy[s] / cloud[s]...and [makes] sour with sinning the innocent mind and Mayday in
girl and boy (10 13). In this address, cloy refers to the potential for spring to disgust the innocence of
Adam and Eve, the innocent...girl and boy, with gratification beyond

Circle Of Stone Woman s Journey To Herself Summary
Section One
Circle of Stones Woman s Journey to Herself is basically a guide for women to find their true selves
using the ancient archetypal feminine manifest form. There are a group of women that are being very
detailed about the journeys, dreams, and visions they experienced in their lives. They are being very
open and telling the truth so the author was able to use all their stories to create a feminine space so
we can relate and look at our lives through the women s ancient culture and rituals. It takes you on a
journey a meditative experience of the lost feminine so by the end of the book you can be awaken and
be able to help other women. The book first talks about how important it is for women to cry. The

years ago until laws were introduced. The laws took all the rights from women which lead us to now.
Women went from having everything and knowing themselves. To being confident, protective, and

true self you have to leave behind the usual role you are expected to do and basically do what you
want. Through the processes of finding yourself you have to go through different stages and the book
takes you through them. The stages are sense of depth, feelings, process, fear, need, self, growing
being, gathering wholeness, embracing woundedness, finding her voice. By the end of this book you
should have a vision for the impact women should and will have on our current culture and society.
Also, you should know how your life will better from the impact you have on other women and the
impact they have on you. This book really shows how women can and should work together and

Understanding Literacy And Its Basic Definition
Literacy is a resource that when allocated amidst political, social and gender constraints benefits
society as a whole. Literacy by its basic definition is how one can read, write and communicate
effectively with people. Beyond that, it s about being competent in a subject area. For example,
reading in a literate level means that a person is able to read fluently by pronouncing words correctly
without many mistakes. Another form of literacy when reading, is when a person can read in public
without having many issues. For example in a conference, meeting, or social gathering, the person is
adept in being competent. Of course this idea of literacy and competency is subjective by nature.
Utilizing proper vocabulary, grammar and structure are components of being literate in the discipline
of English. Communication is essential as well and can also be a form of literacy. Communicating is
how a person has the ability to develop a strong argument against someone and provide more reasons
why their point may be argued. It is important to realize that it is also important to listen to others and
benefit from the life experiences of others literacy. In a technologically driven society my literacy in
computers has benefited me immensely, as it has allowed me to bestow upon others forms of
competency that will hopefully be a domino effect of education that betters society. Literacy is the
ability to read and write, or be competent in a discipline. It is important to be

Slaughter Is The Violent Killing Of A Large Number Of People
Slaughter. As defined by the Merriam Webster Dictionary, slaughter is the violent killing of a large
number of people. Synonyms including; bloodbath, butchery, carnage, death, holocaust, massacre. I,
for one, hate this ugly word. It causes several things to come to mind when I hear it muttered: The
Holocaust, genocide, death, all of the repulsive and vial occurrences of the world summed in one
word. It s a grim topic, and most certainly one that doesn t occur in the US anymore, right? After all,
one of the world s leading super powers couldn t possibly be dealing with a magnanimous amount of
bloodshed on our lands. Am I correct? Well, what if I told you that over 3.7 billion farm animals are
killed every year in the United States for food. The ongoing slaughter of billions of animals a year,
with little thought or consideration to the inhumane abuse that these animals experience, is a
saddening truth that shouldn t be a fact today. Many say that the process of farming today is a marvel,
with the fact that we can feed an entire nation so quickly. There is no famine, no lack of food at any
time. It is a marvel we can create such a method that is so effective to feed thousands a day and I
would agree if animals that are killed for food weren t treated like a machine on an assembly line.
Several companies, like Perdue, make claims that their animals are treated righteously, live happy, and

Australian Identity
Australia is a young, modern country made up of a diverse and multicultural population, therefore, it s
difficult to say that it has a single national identity. This essay will examine what Australia s identity
may look like, specifically, through art.
Australia has only been here for little over 200 years whereas other countries have a lot of history with
solid identities. Australian art is an important factor that helps to create its identity because its artists
are passionate about the unique aspects and symbols of Australia and they incorporate them into their
works to really show what they think Australia is.
Australian Impressionism is a good place to start to reflect on the early influences in Australian art. In

Ned Kelly is considered to be a folk hero and is remembered as one of Australia s most significant
people because he stood up to corrupt police officers, unfair laws and biased government. Kelly is
immortalized in Sidney Nolan s Ned Kelly collection of 27 paintings that re count his daring exploits
with the law. Nolan was sympathetic to this story as he, himself, was a fugitive from the law and,
using various Australian landscape scenes as a backdrop, transcended his own conflict onto the canvas

Essay on Television as a Cultural Forum
Television can be considered a cultural forum. By cultural forum, this means issues and points of view
can be discussed openly and almost without punishment. These issues can vary anywhere from male
dominance in the household, to wars, to racism, to political jabs and still be covered under freedom of
speech. Television can hold a wide variety of opinions which may offend, but for the most part due so
to prove a point.

In the episode of Father Knows Best, Betty seeks to pursue a traditionally male dominated profession.
Even though society looks down upon it, Betty still perseveres in her endeavors to pursue a job she
likes. Due to the current times, society sets a certain standard and you are expected to follow along
with it. Going against the grain is usually shunned or you are set apart from everyone else. I feel this is
a great quality, and more people should be like this.
In these two episodes, discrimination is evident. In Father Knows Best Betty is discriminated against
for attempting to pursue a profession that, in that time, was male dominated. In 2005, men and women
should be considered equals in the work force, and be entitled to the same opportunities. In that era,
women were teachers, men were doctors, etc. There were standard jobs for each sex. This is fine to
talk about because it is in the TV realm. Writers are allowed to poke fun at society s unwritten
standards. In All in the Family Archie discriminates again African Americans and George
discriminates against Caucasians. Archie is brutally honest, even for our generation. His complete
disregard for feelings almost makes him appear archaic, but when put under a microscope, we see the
writers are challenging society, pushing the envelope even further. This freedom

One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn s Faith
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn is a professed Christian. However, according to some critics, this does not
necessarily make his writings quot;Christian quot; (Schmemann 39). Biblical principles can clearly be
identified in One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich. They can be seen through Solzhenitsyn s views
on the world as a divine creation, the nature of evil, and faith in the future.
The Christian faith is rooted in the belief that God created everything, and that it is good. According to
Christian belief, God has a plan for His creation, and therefore there is no need to be pessimistic. At
first, this Christian view seems an unlikely fit with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shukhov s attribution of nature to a divine Creator is a fundamental Christian belief (Zamoyska 216).
The nature of evil, from the Christian standpoint, is that all evil comes from man s sin. This makes
evil a very personal force, rather than something abstract. Schmemann describes the Christian idea of
evil as a fall. He states that evil is quot;this fall from on high and the horror, grief and suffering it
evokes quot; (41). Evil, or sin, is controlled by the individual. Each person has the ability to choose
between right and wrong. In many parts of the novel, prisoners must decide whether or not to help
their prison mates. When Shukhov goes to the infirmary, his fellow prisoners save his rations, so he
may eat (Solzhenitsyn 25). Later, Tsezar decides to give Shukhov the rest of his cigarette instead of
giving it to Fetyukov (31). The Russian authorities and guards have made the decision to carry out the
injustices of the prison camp. The freedom of the individual to choose right from wrong, an important
idea in Christianity, is obviously present in this novel.
Finally, Solzhenitsyn s novel expresses one of the most important Christian principles, hope for the
future. In Christianity, since Christ paid the price for the sins of the world, there are no lost causes.
Christians have faith that Christ will return someday and that there will be a heaven. In the same way,
in the midst of the terrible conditions of the prison camp, Shukhov can be pleased at

A World Full of Loneliness
In life, everyone wants to have somebody they can call a friend. The unfortunate reality of this is that
at some point in time, almost every person will experience loneliness. Of Mice and Men, by John
Steinbeck, deals with the hardships of two friends who put their belief in a giant pipe dream. The book
follows George and Lennie s troubled and laborious life until their plans go very awry. King of
Hoboes, Arvel Pearson , by Errol Lincoln Uys, is a nonfiction text which overviews Arvel Pearson s
life as a professional hobo. This includes a detailed version of what it was like to be a hobo in the time
period known as the Great Depression and provides an idea of ... Show more content on

Later in the chapter, after the men have talked for a while, Curley s wife enters the bunk too. An
argument takes place following her arrival and Crooks is reduced... to nothing by a threat made by
Curley s wife (Steinbeck 81). This proves to be a reminder to Crooks as to why he should never let
people inside his built up walls. Steinbeck uses this portion of his book to exemplify loneliness; his
main theme of the novel. Crooks begins all alone, befriends someone just this once, but remains lonely
by the end. If Crooks is not threatened and remains a friend of Lennie s, the message this sends would
be very different; however the reality of this situation occurring is unlikely. During the 1930 s, a time
recognized as the Great Depression, almost everyone primarily wants to survive and that left most
people working to earn a stake; friendships are an unimportant matter. In King of Hoboes it mentions
that Arvel Pearson had a partner but it [did not] work out (Uys 47). If one of them makes it onto a
train, but the other one misses it then most likely they will be separated for good. As a hobo, Pearson s
story mentions there [are] nights [he will] get homesick waiting for a train with nobody to talk to (Uys
48). This could be a reason a hobo might attempt to make a friend. The solitude that a hobo faces can
be overwhelming, but traveling with a partner seemingly could solve this problem. The character or
person will make a friend to cope with the

Watergate Complex After The Watergate
On an ordinary morning of June 17, 1972, five burglars were caught in the Watergate complex after
signs of breaking in were found on the doors. No one at that time knew this subtle crime would lead to
the greatest scandal in the US history and the resignation of the current President, Richard Nixon.
Evidences later showed that the Watergate Incident was only a mere part of the ugly crimes the Nixon
Administration had committed to achieve their ultimate goal of reelection, and Nixon had
intentionally attempted a cover up to save his reputation. The Watergate incident had inflicted a deep
suspicion inside the US citizens toward the government, especially the President, because during his

Afraiding the report would damage Nixon s credibility, because it revealed that the government was
lying to its people about the US troop populations in Vietnam, the Plumbers broke into the office of
the psychiatrist of Daniel Ellsberg with the attempt of finding embarrassing documents that would
discredit Daniel. They failed, however, and Daniel was exonerated from all of the charges after the
break in was uncovered. The Watergate Burglary was also a mission given to the Plumbers to monitor
the democratic party. However, in the morning of June 17, 1972, the Plumbers were caught inside the
Watergate complex, and their address books showed that they are connected to the White House.
There is no direct evidences that Nixon had ordered the Watergate burglary, but what he had done
subsequently was just as despicable. Nixon had directed a criminal cover up of the Watergate incident
to destroy evidences, interfere investigations, and annihilate scandals that would lead the Watergate
Incident to himself, because it was CRP, his organization, that had funded the burglars the Post
reported in August 1972 that a $25,000 check designated for CRP actually went to pay for the
Watergate burglary (the Post). Two months after the burglary, Nixon declared that his counsel, John

The Epidemic Of Child Obesity
Over the past decade there has been an epidemic on the rise. This epidemic is child obesity. We spend
millions of dollars each year trying to help or prevent the onset of obesity. Some of the reasons are due
to our youth consuming more processed foods and not being physically active. However, we as a
society cannot just blame the laziness and not eating the correct types of foods as the cause for obesity.
This problem is more complex than people think and we can fix it, but we do need government
cooperation. There are many causes of obesity some of which are poverty, food insecurity, parenting,
and physical activity. The United States has the highest amount of people below the poverty line in its
history. Since these people make below $20,000 dollars a year, their only way of feeding themselves is
buying the cheapest food. The cheapest food in a food market is almost always processed food. These
types of foods do not have the best nutrient content. Eating these types of foods more frequently can
increase a person s risk of becoming obese. One of the many reasons people consume processed foods
is because they are very cheap The relative price of fresh fruits and vegetables it s gone up by 40%
since 1980 when the obesity epidemic first began. In contrast, the relative price of processed foods has

Research Paper On Six Sigma
Abstract
Six Sigma is a business instrument for the betterment of a process. It is a controlled approach and
methodology for obviating defects in any process such as manufacturing, businesses and any product
or service. Six Sigma has been gaining tremendous popularity in industry today. However, academics
have conducted limited research on this rising phenomenon. Interpreting Six Sigma primarily requires
giving out a conceptual definition and describing an underlying theory. This topic uses Grounded
theory approach and meager literature available to suggest an initial definition and theory of Six
Sigma. This paper indicates that although tools and techniques on the topic are similar to earlier
approaches of quality management, it provides a structure which is more detailed. This emerging
structure for quality management attempts to improve the quality of the yield of a process by
identifying and obviating the defects and causes lowering variability in business processes. Also one
of the important areas touched upon is the conceptual understanding of Six Sigma. Each Six Sigma

Come to the Stone by Randall Jarrell
Randall Jarrell was one of the few poets of his time to vividly and accurately depict the horrible and
confusing reality of war. His experience in the military provided him with a deep understanding of
both the mind of a solider and a civilian. With this understanding of the human consciousness, Jarrell
deeply explores the actions, feelings, and interactions of people in times of war. Through his
sympathetic, psychological portrayal of a diverse range of narrative personas in his dramatic
monologues, Jarrell displays the dehumanizing forces of war. In the poem, Come to the Stone... Jarrell
establishes the simple fact of man s cruelty and explores the chaotic and confusing experience of war
through the eyes of a young boy. The intense experience of this poem is generated in the plain speech
of the lines. The people are punishing the people, why? The line isn t in quotation marks. It s Jarrell
who asks why, not the child. Still, the line is phrased like a child s observation and question. It is a
puzzle, a riddle, and a stark fact, like man s inhumanity to man, like violence especially against the
innocent, which is unthinkable suffering that s imposed by choice. After the bombers flash by, entering
and leaving the battlefield in an instant, the narrator sees that The ants had littered with their crumbs a

Love is never the same way twice. However, one particularly unusual case is the relationship between
Dominique Francon and Howard Roark in Ayn Rand s novel, The Fountainhead. It is a relationship
characterized by destruction and dominance. Roark is an architect who refuses to follow the rules of

her love is, by nature, destructive. It is easy to see how Dominique might feel that Howard is better off

Essay on The Messianic Idea in Judaism
The Messianic Idea in Judaism
Belief in the eventual coming of the moshiach is a basic and fundamental part of traditional Judaism.
It is part of Rambam s 13 Principles of Faith, the minimum requirements of Jewish belief. In the
Shemoneh Esrei prayer, recited three times daily, we pray for all of the elements of the coming of the
moshiach: ingathering of the exiles; restoration of the religious courts of justice; an end of
wickedness, sin and heresy; reward to the righteous; rebuilding of Jerusalem; restoration of the line of
King David; and restoration of Temple service.

The Moshiach
The moshiach will be a great political leader descended from King David (Jeremiah 23:5). The
moshiach is often referred to as moshiach ben David (moshiach, son of David). He will be well versed
in Jewish law, and observant of its commandments. (Isaiah 11:2 5) He will be a charismatic leader,
inspiring others to follow his example. He will be a great military leader, who will win battles for
Israel. He will be a great judge, who makes righteous decisions (Jeremiah 33:15). But above all, he
will be a human being, not a god, demi god or other supernatural being.
It has been said that in every generation, a person is born with the potential to be the moshiach. If the
time is right for the messianic age within that person s lifetime, then that person will be the moshiach.
But if that person dies before he completes the mission of the moshiach, then that person is not the
moshiach.
When Will the Moshiach Come?
There are a wide variety of opinions on the subject of when the moshiach will come. Some of Judaism
s greatest minds have cursed those who try to predict the time of the moshiach s coming, because
errors in such predictions could cause people to lose faith in the messianic idea or in Judaism itself.

I was so fortunate to have positive experiences with educators while on the path to working toward my nursing degree. I feel completely blessed and fortunate that I was able to find my passion at such a young age. For many years, I have had the opportunity to work with the students in my district s Health Science program while working as a staff nurse at my local hospital. Their curiosity, excitement, and compassionate feeling about healthcare has encouraged me to pursue a career in education so that I can continue to share my passion and have a hand in training the young students today for an exciting and rewarding career in healthcare like I have ... • 3. Decrease In Teen Suicide Research Suicide is a very difficult topic to discuss, especially for those that have either attempted to end their life or for the families of those that ended their life. However, it is a topic that continues to cause headlines and tragedy as suicide attempts have been more and more common but studies have shown a decline in teen suicide (Kolves, De Leon, 2015). According to Quinan Davidson et al (2013) an average of 220, 000 people between the ages of 10 and 24 commit suicide. Suicide is considered to be a death by a self injurious behavior in which the intent is to die (CDC.gov, 2015). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the U.S, males tend to take their life four times more than woman and account for almost 78% of all suicides (CDC.gov, 2015). In the United States the youngest child to take their life is between the ages of 5 to 9, in 2001 and 2010 a total of 7 children took their own life in each year (WHO.int). Data taken from the World Health Organization (2010) and Kolves and De Leon (2015) teens between the ages of 14 to 19 and young adults between the ages of 20 and 25 tend to have higher mortality rate due to suicide, however there is a decrease with middle adulthood between the ages of 30 45, and once again it suicide rates increase in middle aged adults between the ages of 50 and 55. In a recent study conducted by Kolves and De Leon (2014), they found that in 11 counties in South American, suicide rates increases for both female and males, from 1.04 to 2.32 for boys, and from 1.45 to 2.30 for girls between 2000 and 2009. When teachers classroom assessments become an integral part of the instructional process and a central tenet in their efforts to help students learn, the benefits of assessment for both students and teachers will be boundless. The purpose of these assessments is to ascertain the student s levels of understanding and see if there is any room for improvement and whether there are any weaknesses so as to be able to correct them. My focus is to improve my assessments to make them motivating and to enhance student learning. Assessment challenges that have been identified are as follows: Figuring out what really is important for students to know and be able to do in history. Teaching the skills of doing history in a world of testing that often seems to value only factual knowledge. Identifying and using assessments that provide teachers with better information than only multiple choice exams. Getting students motivated to do a good job on essays and other written work. Helping students learn to improve their own work and produce quality products. Holding students accountable for quality work, as opposed to them just turning in something. The assessments have to be conducted and recorded in accordance with internal and external processes and requirements. I use these assessments to evaluate my practice and to identify any opportunities for improvement. FIG. 2 Assessment objectives Good assessments should follow these ... This movie uses symbolism to get ideas across in many different situations and it shows the actuality of life, it is not always what it looks like on the outside. Lester and Carolyn Burnham seem like they have a perfect marriage and a perfect family life while in turn they are having a lot of marriage problems. Lester is going through a midlife crisis; he quits his high paying job for a fast food service job at Mr. Smiley s and he buys the car of his dreams. She is upset by the marriage problems her parents are having and blames her father for all of them. Jane is also upset that her father is hitting on her friend Angela and he wants to have an affair with her. Angela thinks Jane s father is sexy and she hits on him too, which makes Jane have problems with her friend. Ricky is a shy boy who moves in next door to Jane. All the kids at Jane s school consider him a freak , but him and Jane have a lot more in common than she might think. They end up becoming involved with each other and realize that they both come from broken homes, and they both hate their fathers. Ricky s father is an ex marine who beats him when he is upset and even though Jane s father does not beat her and it would appear that their relationship is perfect, it is not. • 6. Walt Disney Impact On The Economy Introduction Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is a premier enterprise operating out of Florida. This organization started back in 1971 by founders Walt and Roy Disney. Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is the most visited theme park in the world. Over 50 million people visit these parks and resorts year round. The organization is not only known for the services they provide, but the economic impact and the programs offered to their employees. This writing assignment, I will elaborate on how this company affects the economy, production, attitudes and motivation of their workers. Economic Impact One of the many ways Disney affect the economy is by employing thousands of people. Currently, the company has over 160,000 employees worldwide and counting. According to Walt Disney World Fun Facts, the parks and resorts cover nearly 45 squares miles of land, the resort itself is the size of San Francisco. However, one of the most amazing things about the land Disney owns, one third is for conservation (Disney World Fun Facts, 2016). Economic success at this magnitude do not happen overnight, but with vision and making the right decisions. One thing Disney had to consider early on was the impact their decisions would make economically. According to Townsend (2002), The economic way of thinking improves on common sense by looking beneath surface appearances. Faced with a problem, an economist thinks in terms of variables rather than fixed quantities, seeking systematic relationships ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His father s distinguished family traced itself back to Rabbi Yochanan Hasandlar, a student of the tanna, a torah sage around the end of the second Jewish Temple, Rabbi Akiva ben Yosef, lived from about 50 C.E to about 132 C.E, and from there to King David, who was leader of the ancient Israelite kingdom as it retook its homeland. His mother was the sister of Rabbi Shimon Hazaken, the elder. With his wife, Rashi had three daughters but no sons, and their names were Yocheved, who married Rabbi Meir ben Shmuel (one of Rashi s greatest students), Miriam who married Yehuda be Nathan (also known as the Rivan, the completer of Rashi s commentary to the tractate of Makkot), and Rachel. In turn, their children the Rashbam, Rabbenu Tam etc. who became later known as the tosafist were practically commentators on Rashi comments. When it came to supporting his family, Rashi supported them through wine although it s unclear what he did in the process of it s creation, whether it was creating it or selling it. Furthermore, he was the unofficial Rabbi of the entire Troyes/Europe, because he was the greatest torah scholar of his time and had his own Yeshiva. Therefore, he probably received money through answering people s halachic questions. • 12. The Beauty Of Spring, By Gerard Manley Hopkins At first, Gerard Manley Hopkins s poem, Spring, seems to be just about the season of spring per its title. However, in considering Hopkins s Catholic Christian background, this poem is also about beauty and sin and their effects on nature in relation to the story in the book of Genesis about Adam and Eve. Spring is a Petrarchan sonnet split into an octet and sestet and is organized in such a way to allow Hopkins to discuss beauty and how it (through sin) corrupts itself and humanity personified in the season of spring and Adam and Eve, accordingly. The themes of the beauty of spring and the nature of the Garden and humanity are essential in the poet s Christian understanding of sin and the Incarnation and Passion of Jesus Christ. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, in the case of this poem by Hopkins, no problem is introduced in the octet, but is in the sestet. Hopkins signifies this turn by asking a question about the nature of spring s beauty and where it is from, just as juice is the characteristic flavor and essence of fruit in one meaning of the word (OED n.1.a.). Hopkins answers this question by mentioning the Christian view of the earth s sweet being in the beginning, thus referring to the Garden of Eden in Genesis (10 11). As inferred by Hopkins in the first stanza and the Christian tradition which he holds, the Garden was a place of life and flourishing rather than death, and the beginning refers to the creation story involving Adam and Eve. Thus, according to Hopkins, the beauty of spring is identified in the sestet as a strain from the earth s sweet being in the beginning in the Garden of Eden (10 11). Furthermore, the sestet involves a change of word choice and figurative language instead of merely a topic change. After describing where spring s beauty arises, the poet prayerfully addresses Christ and asks him to retrieve this strain of spring s beauty before it cloy[s] / cloud[s]...and [makes] sour with sinning the innocent mind and Mayday in girl and boy (10 13). • 16. Understanding Literacy And Its Basic Definition Literacy is a resource that when allocated amidst political, social and gender constraints benefits society as a whole. Literacy by its basic definition is how one can read, write and communicate effectively with people. Beyond that, it s about being competent in a subject area. For example, reading in a literate level means that a person is able to read fluently by pronouncing words correctly without many mistakes. Another form of literacy when reading, is when a person can read in public without having many issues. For example in a conference, meeting, or social gathering, the person is adept in being competent. Of course this idea of literacy and competency is subjective by nature. Utilizing proper vocabulary, grammar and structure are components of being literate in the discipline of English. Communication is essential as well and can also be a form of literacy. Communicating is how a person has the ability to develop a strong argument against someone and provide more reasons why their point may be argued. It is important to realize that it is also important to listen to others and benefit from the life experiences of others literacy. In a technologically driven society my literacy in computers has benefited me immensely, as it has allowed me to bestow upon others forms of competency that will hopefully be a domino effect of education that betters society. The Internet also provided a new way to distribute music with new formats such as mp3, mpeg, and wav; and this led to the rise of the P2P (peer to peer) file sharing technology. His experience in the military provided him with a deep understanding of both the mind of a solider and a civilian. With this understanding of the human consciousness, Jarrell deeply explores the actions, feelings, and interactions of people in times of war. Through his sympathetic, psychological portrayal of a diverse range of narrative personas in his dramatic monologues, Jarrell displays the dehumanizing forces of war. In the poem, Come to the Stone... Jarrell establishes the simple fact of man s cruelty and explores the chaotic and confusing experience of war through the eyes of a young boy. The intense experience of this poem is generated in the plain speech of the lines. The people are punishing the people, why? The line isn t in quotation marks. It s Jarrell who asks why, not the child. Still, the line is phrased like a child s observation and question. It is a puzzle, a riddle, and a stark fact, like man s inhumanity to man, like violence especially against the innocent, which is unthinkable suffering that s imposed by choice. Dominique, an independent, rich newspaperwoman, does everything in her power to destroy his career. Despite this, it is clear that they love each other, and have a connection and understanding that would be impossible for most. Dominique s campaign against Howard is largely for his own good, and is motivated by her lack of experience with happiness, as well as the fact that her love is, by nature, destructive. It is easy to see how Dominique might feel that Howard is better off being unsuccessful. His work goes against every idea society has at the time, and as such, people rarely understand or appreciate it. When explaining why she left him, Dominique says, she had run from the dread of seeing him hurt by the world (Rand 613). She believes he has no chance to succeed when the public opinion is so consistently inconsistent with true talent. The people of the world will do everything to tear down an independent man like Roark, and she knows it.
