Hurricane Katrina Flood Risk Analysis
Article #1: Flood Risk Management in the United States and the Impact of Hurricane Katrina.
Article #1 Major points: The major points that the article focused on were that since people have first
stepped foot on this continent, flooding has always been present. This constant presence has required
the federal and local governments to help assist with the flood control, management, and the damages
that flooding causes. There have been many policies established to help with floodplain management,
but since the terrorist attack on September 11th, the risk analysis approach has taken precedent over
the other policies (Galloway 302). Different disasters in our history have encouraged a variety of
action from the government and other organizations. For instance, failing dams prompted a national
dam safety program and analyzed the risks of those living below dams (301). Also, after Hurricane
Katrina, levee maintenance importance was increased; as there were major levee malfunctions that
heightened the destruction. The integrity of these infrastructures (dams, bridges, levees) that protect
the population should be maintained and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, flood insurance was established in areas that are located within the floodplain (302), as
well as the relocation and removal of buildings in areas at risk of continual flooding. Furthermore,
after Hurricane Katrina, levee maintenance importance was increased. Hurricane Katrina also instilled
the importance of proper preparation before the disaster strikes. The government has actively helped
with the continual flood management in America; sharing the cost with local, state, and federal
governments (302). There are many factors and policies in the preparation and management for
flooding, but since the attacks on September 11th, the risk analysis approach has taken precedence

Passion To Teach For America
While my dedication to teaching at some capacity has been a lifelong passion, I would like to explain
why I want to join Teach for America by starting at the beginning of my own academic journey:
I could not read a sentence until I was in third grade, two to three full years behind my average peer.
In addition to being hopelessly behind in both reading and mathematics, I had terrible experiences
with bullying. The combination of poor academic performance and social issues was deadly to my
ability to learn. It took a year and two teachers who were incredibly dedicated to my individual
progress to catch me up to my peers. And that was all I needed two teachers who noticed and cared to
begin my work towards an eventual Ivy League education

10. Sinus Infection Cure It might be surprising to learn that reflexology can impact the congestion and
inflammation of a person s sinuses. A study found that 150 adults treated with nasal irrigation and
reflexology for two weeks showed an equal amount of significant improvement (5). A staggering 70%
of the study participants said they saw benefits from the treatments while 35% said they were able to
decrease the amount of sinus medications for their chronic sinus infections. Steps to Massaging Your

Ego Vs Ego
In modern society, the influences of ego have been increasingly important for people to address
because the degree of ego determines people s individual and social development. This essay focuses
on the negative influences of high level of ego, which is egotism. It is defined as high level of
selfishness. In the meantime, the discussion of ego and superego is also introduced. Ego is defined as
the true self of personality that makes people look for pleasure and selfish goals while superego refers
to the part which makes people seek for morality and consciousness. Superego is formed in early life
by parental education and can help people by stopping egotism. Egotism influences people s
aggressive behaviors, restrict people s well rounded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The result of this is that they cannot judge or think about this world from an objective point of view.
Egotism can blind people and prevent people in different ways, such as personal development. An
online article on the website of GoodNewsNetwork confirmed why egotism can blind people: the ego
mind isn t contributing to humanity and isn t able to look at the world as a whole. It s only able to look
at a fragmented piece of the whole that it identifies as Me (GoodNewsNetwork 9). So, egotism must
be removed or we will not really be able to reflect on ourselves nor think about other things properly.
Holiday explained the urgency of removing ego: Ego is the enemy of what you want and of what you
have. It repulses advantages and opportunities. It s a magnet for enemies and errors (Holiday 150). If a
person only let the egotism lead himself, he will only take care of himself regardless of other people s
feelings because he will only react to his own emotions and principles for pleasure. This leads to the
third harmful influence of social disconnection. Human s personality is divided into ego and super ego
(Simply Psychology 5). If a person just let the ego rule himself, he will only take care of himself
regardless of thinking about other people s feelings. This can break down his

The Ohio state university and its football program have been blessed with a rich history and tradition.
The traditions at Ohio State are second to none. At Ohio state football games you get to witness
amazing sites, for example the dotting of the i during script Ohio. This is easily one of the most well
known traditions in all of college football, or it could be the historic stadium nicknamed The

atmosphere for football. They are apart of one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports. Every year they
strap their pads up and face their arch rival Michigan, in a game that is highly anticipated and

excitement that every true college football fan can appreciate and loves to watch. Another great
tradition that comes along with this game is the gold pants. Since 1934 everytime Ohio State defeats

Abigail Williams, the Villian of The Crucible by Arthur...
In writing short stories, novels, or plays, there are certain standards the writer comes to meet. He will
choose a basic story element to go by; either man versus nature, man versus man, or man versus
himself. Then, a setting that is appropriate to the writer is chosen, a place where the writer envisions
the story happening. Inevitably the characters are introduced one by one, and the writer tries to convey
their personality and instill a mental image for the reader. There have always been the heroes, the
villains and the victims. Any story can revolve particularly around any of these, but often they all have
roles that create equilibrium in the plot. However, in The Crucible, Arthur Miller did not need to

Abigail Williams accuses all of these people with only two things in mind. One of them is her
desperate desire to be in the spotlight at all times. ealthy motives are the reasons for the murdering of
innocent people.
Abigail Williams main cause for her wild accusations is a selfish one. It is to be with John Proctor, a
married man with whom she has an affair. She is sent away but all she thinks of is being reunited with
him. Abigail drinks blood, wishing to be with John Proctor, which could happen only if his wife
Elizabeth died. She then, after committing adultery and contributing to the breaking of a marriage, is
not through. Abigail pursues John and does not recognize that the affair is over. She conveys this in
saying I have something better than hope, I think! (22). Abigail does not just miss her love, she
becomes ruthless to get him back.
Abigail William s aggressive personality easily persuades the other girls to follow her footsteps, and
back up anything and everything she says. This personality also frightens people in the courtroom to
question her truthfulness, or her relation with John Proctor. Due to her forceful behavior, the girls
support Abigail, and therefore become entangled in her web of lies, sins, and murders.
There are not many people like Abigail Williams who could send people to their death and feel no
remorse. With the exception of John

The Violation Of Miranda Rights
Mr. Knight s statements to officers in the patrol car cannot be suppressed for violation of Miranda
rights because he was neither in custody not subjected to an interrogation. To suppress a statement
under the Fifth Amendment for violation of Miranda rights, (1) the suspect must be in custody of law
enforcement officials and (2) subjected to interrogation (3) without being first provided Miranda
warnings. United States v. Brownlee, 454 F.3d 131, 4 (3d Cir. 2006) (citing Rhode Island v. Innis, 446
U.S. 291 (1980)). Here, the police officers that detained Mr. Knight are law enforcement officials;
however, Mr. Knight was not in custody because he was stopped for a short and temporary amount of
time, and the officers explicitly told him that he would be free to go after completing the traffic
summons paperwork. Additionally, Mr. Knight s incriminating statements during his detention were
not the product of an interrogation because they were voluntary and not reasonably foreseeable by
Officer Davis. Consequently, Mr. Knight did not require a Miranda warning, meaning his
incriminating statements in the patrol car cannot be suppressed under the Fifth Amendment.

Waiting For Godot, By Judy Hegarty Lovett
Waiting for Godot is known to be a classic example of Theater of the Absurd , drama using the neglect
of conventional dramatic form to portray the ineptness of human struggle in a meaningless world.
Director Judy Hegarty Lovett and actor Conor Lovett s Beckett work with Gare St Lazare Players
Ireland has gained them a reputation as two of the world s foremost Beckett interpreters. Judy Hegarty
Lovett and her husband, Conor Lovett, had a very successful year in 2014. I was very interested to see
if this director/actor power couple held up to all the hype, and I was delighted to see such a strong
performance by both. Conor, although working in a lot of solo plays the past year, was a pleasure to
watch, and well deserved his Stage award for Acting Excellence, in 2014, for Title and Deed. Judy
Hegarty did an outstanding job in the production of Waiting for Godot with the use of the simplicity of
the character s needs, and subtle comical nature.
Although reading this play was entertaining, it was a lot more eye opening in theaters. Throughout
director Judy Hegarty Lovett s enactment, I was able to uncover themes within the performance that I
was not aware of previously. With the help of absurdity and comedy, she effectively portrayed themes
of choice, time, and uncertainty.
Waiting for Godot consists of two men, Vladimir (Didi) played by Conor Lovett and Estragon (Gogo)
played by Gary Lydon. Together they partake in many insignificant actions while trying to kill time

effects of using selected network resources in web based problem solving. This research targeted a
senior high school computer class and attempted to compare the effects of using selected and open
network resources on students intentions about their information system usage by means of
technology acceptance model (TAM) questionnaires and learning effectiveness by analysis of
covariance of tests in web based problem solving activities (Hsu, 2013). The activities used in this
research project allowed students to learn from the total process of problem solving. All of these
activities were student centered and not teacher centered. The subjects of this research project were
measured on the basis of pre and post test design in which each test was composed of fifteen multiple
choice question(Hsu, 2012)s . The control group was the open source group and the experimental
group was the selected resource group. At the end of the research project each student completed a
questionnaire(Hsu, 2012).The results of this research project show that the lower and mid ability
students greatly benefited from this selected resource learning process and the advanced learners
benefited more from the open network resources. This research also showed that digital library s and

Hamlet Gender Roles

Gender: Women, the Lesser Sex Throughout the Ages When one thinks of art and religion, one may
think of gender role defiance and non conformism. While this may be generally true in present times,
it was not always this way. Women and men have had distinctly different places in society, these
places often being unequal. Generally most well known works throughout the ages have adhered to
and represented what society regarded as the proper gender roles for men and women. This is
represented in three works of art which will be discussed: Hamlet by William Shakespeare, The
Courtier: Book 3 by Baldassare Castiglione, and Luncheon on the Grass by Eduoard Manet. While
these three forms of art come from different times and are of different mediums, they are connected in
that they follow and represent the gender roles of their time. Hamlet is regarded by many as
Shakespeare s most well known work. A tragedy focused on revenge, this work awed the Elizabethan
audience with its shocking themes and content. The play follows Hamlet, a prince who is fixated on
avenging his father, who was murdered by Hamlet s uncle Claudius. Throughout the entirety of the
play, Hamlet behaves erratically and irrationally, focused entirely on revenge. This play features two
prominent female characters, Gertrude, Hamlet s mother, and Ophelia, a girl in love with Hamlet. Out
of the entire cast, these are the only two females with names, and they are not

Advantages And Cons Of AFTA Or Asean Free Trade Area
In ASEAN we used AFTA or Asean Free Trade Area. It is a trade bloc agreement by Association of
Southeast Asia Nation. Under AFTA, there are six countries of Association of Southeast Asian Nation
(ASEAN) including Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Brunei, and Thailand are no tariffs
on approximately 8,000 product. Another four developed ASEAN nations will have further period to
phase in tariff cuts. In Asean we trade everything not only goods and services, but the citizen also can
go around these countries without visa and people can find job more easily. Because when the country
had opened for all members in ASEAN people can work in the proper ways not work illegal in other
ASEAN countries.
As a free trade area, members of ASEAN countries expect it to be more comfortable in the flow of
goods and services between ASEAN countries. Thailand had significant benefits from AFTA, because
in Thailand there are many manufacturing, and it is benefit from reduced the production. However, the

The Competitive Forces Challenging Hertz
External Analysis Based on the results of Porter s model, the following are the competitive forces
challenging Hertz (Appendix A). Competitive Forces Firstly, Hertz faces low threat of entry from the
competitors. As Hertz serves in the car rental and equipment rental industry it has low barriers to entry
due to need of excessive amount of startup cost and through product differentiation. With the company
s excellent economy of scale the new entrants might find difficult to survive. By aiming at the product
differentiate Hertz gained very good customer loyalty which new entrants might lack. To initiate a
rental business one needs to have good financial resources. The likelihood of achieving profit in the
rental industry may serve as a low barrier to the new entrants. Secondly, Hertz also faces the threat of
substitutes. There are other platforms such as train, taxi, bus shuttle that consumer uses as the means
of transport. Due to heavy competition in the car rental and equipment rental industry, consumers are
attracted towards the other rental services which offer similar products with low prices. For example,
Avis provides excellent customer service with low price on its car rental and United Rental provides
equipment rental service at lower price. This can make the Hertz rental business less useful. This can
affect the overall attractiveness of the industry. Thirdly, Hertz suffers high bargaining power from the
buyers as it is dependent on the customer s financial

Roman Funeral Eulogy
The upper class
The class in society a Roman held, played a huge role in how elaborate the funeral ceremony was, and
how well the body was preserved.
The wealthy would be guarentted an elaborate ceremony. The body of the deceased would be on
display for mourning for a lengthy period of time, and treated with extreme care, as explained earlier.
The body would never be left alone as it was belived this would be bad luck for the deceaseds
afterlife. After the mourning period, the funeral wpuld take place. It is a common misperception that
the funeral was a big parade, when in reality it was a quiet affair, and the funeral procession was more
of a celebration.
A Eulogy was usually only read for the very wealthy, differing from how funerals are conducted today.
However these were usually resrved only for the families with links to power. An example of how a
eulogy would go, is seen in Julius Caesars eulogy to his Aunt Julia, known as laudatio Iuliae amitae.

the kings, and on her father s side is akin to the immortal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Roman society was truly all about the wealth a person had in everything that was done. Death was one
of the very few things however to where even the poorest romans were treated decently. This is
because it was viewed politically and socially right to lay a soul to rest. If the wealthy didn t assist the
lower class with this, they would be haunted by the evil spirits (or so they believed). For this reason,
burial soceities were formed, known as the collegia. This meant that each week, citizens in the lower
class would put a small amount of money towards this, meaning that when they died, the collegia

Mike Trout In Major League Baseball
Major League Baseball has customarily shunned the idea of too much focus on individual player
limelight. America s pastime has prided itself on being the penultimate team sport.
There has been a burgeoning conversation over which player might warrant the moniker as the face of

There isn t a top 100 list posted, which doesn t have the name Mike Trout on it. Trout is either the top

to come up with a solution for that client. Guidelines for Making and Evaluating Referrals When
working with clients and making referrals on their behalf, it is key to follow up with clients on a
regular basis. There are several different ways that human service professionals can accomplish this.
We must make sure that we keep updated contact information like phone numbers, addresses and
email addresses for each client so that they can be reached. An appointment can be set up for the client
to come into the office and then the human service professional can inform the client about the types
of services available and the referrals that will be made. To track the success of the referral a case
manager can call the client or the agency to check in. A different way to track a referral is to set up an
appointment with the client to discuss how the referral is progressing. This way you are able to assess
the how the client is feeling about the referral and see if the client is in need of additional services.

Dr. Heidegger s Experiment
Hawthorne creates a delightfully dreary Gothic short story ¨Dr. Heidegger s Experiment¨ through the
use of a dilapidated family estate, heightened emotions from the characters Mr. Medbourne, Colonel
Killigrew, and Mr. Gascoigne, as well as unexplained objects such as the painting of Dr Heidegger s
lost love coming to life.
Hawthorne s short story is set in Heidegger s study, a room that was once magnificent, but when this
story occurs it has cobwebs and layer of dust covering the room. Gothic short stories regularly are set
in dilapidated family mansions, or in this case a study It was a dim, old fashioned chamber, festooned
with cobwebs, and besprinkled with antique dust, the cobwebs and dust add to the supernatural gothic

Heidegger s Experiment the characters experience various mysterious supernatural elements, such as a
painting coming to life or the bust of Hippocrates saying forbear, as well as seeing a double reality. Dr.
Heidegger s Experiment is in the Gothic classification because one startling event, characteristic of the
genre, ... the bronze bust of Hippocrates frowns, uttering the command to forbear, this supernatural
incident exhibits the characteristics of a gothic story (Knowlton 2). As Knowlton says, the very fact
that the bust speaks is a classic charistic of Gothic literature therefore justifying Dr. Heidegger s
Experiment placement in the Gothic genre. Another supernatural occurrence in Dr. Heidegger s
Experiment occurs when the picture of the young lady had stepped one foot upon the floor, this does
not happen everyday, and shows the gothic elements of this short story (Hawthorne 1). The double
reality in Dr. Heidegger s Experiment is apparent when ¨the tall mirror is said to have reflected the
figures of the three old, gray, withered grandsires, ridiculously contending for the skinny ugliness of a
shrivelled grandam, showing that the water from the spring of youth is just an illusion that ensnares it

Working As An Engineer For Electrical Engineering
Working as an engineer is much different than training to be an engineer, unlike school, there is no
typical day. Typically, engineers work in office buildings, laboratories, or industrial plants, but others
work outdoors at construction sites, oil exploration and production sites. In outdoor sites, engineers
usually monitor, direct operations, or solve on site problems. Some engineers travel extensively to
plants or work sites in their area and abroad. Having investigated a career in electrical engineering, I
have learned some information that I did not know before and made the decision of pursuing a career
in electrical engineering based on research and interview answers.
Many engineers work a standard 40 hour week, but at times deadlines or design standards may bring
extra pressure to a job, requiring engineers to work longer hours. Although extra pressure can be
uncomfortable, for many engineers the pay is worth the long hours. According to the U.S. Bureau of
Labor Statistics, The median annual wage for electrical engineers was $87,920 in May 2012. The
median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount
and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $56,490, and the top 10 percent earned
more than $136,690 (Statistics) . This means that an electrical engineer can earn as much as $136,690
in his or her career. That extra pressure in the field can lead to a raise for the hard work and dedication

Theme Of Perseverance In October Sky
It s not that I m so smart, it s just that I stay with problems longer, by Albert Einstein. By persevering
and not giving up, success can be reached. Perseverance is one of the themes in the novel October Sky
. This book revealed the life of a young boy, Homer Hickam Jr., also called Sonny, who fought for his
dream of building rockets against all odds amongst a small mining town. As time elapsed in the novel,
Sonny matured and learned many lessons about rocketry and life, such as pursuing a dream, the
influence of an important person, personal ambition versus loyalty to someone else... Amongst all the
important themes in the novel, persevering against all odds is the most important one. The Rocket
Boys faced countless failure and errors during their rocket building. With almost no support from the
rest of the town, the Rocket Boys had barely any resource when they started. Living in a town full of
miners, building rockets received criticism and mocking from townspeople and even his family. ...

Isolation In Beechdel s Fun Home
Fun Home follows the story of Alison as she deals with a dysfunctional family and learns about
herself and her sexuality in the process. In addition to this, another major focus within Fun Home is
Alison s father and his struggles with his sexual identity, ultimately leading to him taking his life.
There are several times within the work that Alison draws maps in order to show the audience the
physical locations of where the events portrayed took place. But beyond this, the maps serve to both
demonstrate her father Bruce s feelings of isolation and how he was perceived by the community he
lived in. To begin, maps are used as a means to demonstrate the isolation felt by Bruce throughout his
life. In the top panel on page 126, Bechdel shows the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are no other cities located on this map and all of the other labeled places are a plateau, a valley,
a ridge and a front. Having these be the only other objects labeled in the map is significant, as all of
these relate back to nature in some way or another. Because of this the audience gets the idea that their
town is alone with no other human civilization, or even signs of human existence to be found for miles
around. This is significant to Bruce s story as it demonstrates the feelings of isolation that he most
likely felt throughout his life in Beech Creek. As Alison stated on the page before, the town itself was
somewhat close minded. He killed himself because he was a manic depressive, closeted fag and he
couldn t face living in this small minded town one more second (125). Moreover, it can be assumed
that Bruce s sexuality would not have been tolerated. Because of this Bruce would likely feel isolated
and shut out from his community leading to his constant torment as he could not

Psychological Disorder Research Paper
A psychological disorder is a syndrome marked by a clinically significant disturbance in someone s
cognition, emotion regulation, or behavior. These thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are dysfunctional
and they interfere with regular day to day life. Sad moods that enlarge and become damaging can
signal a psychological disorder. However over time, definitions of what make a psychological disorder
have varied. For example, in the 1970 s, high energy children were typically just viewed as normal
kids running a little wild, but today they are seen as dysfunctional and diagnosed with attention
deficit/hyperactivity disorder. There are 450 million people suffering from psychological disorders,
but how are these disorders developed? Psychological

let s take a look remember the most important part of any electrical work is to ensure your own
personal safety in order to do that you need to identify the circuit you re going to be working on come
down to the electrical panel and identify the breaker that feeds that circuit turn off that breaker and
then verify the power has been turned off where you re working and then you can work safely when it

rds or damaged cords can be easily overloaded creating hotspots and represent a true fire and shock
hazard the other challenge you re going to have you usually have a lot of low power consuming
devices in there but they all need a plug so one option would be to put in an approved power cube the
problem with the cube tap is they re subject to user abuse you can cascade them by plugging more and
more into them which creates a hotspot and again it s a fire hazard so not really the preferred way to
go the third option would be to put in an approved power bar this is an entertainment center power bar
and it offers a number of features over the cube tab first of all it has overload protection to protect the
amount of power being used through the device second of all it has multiple outlets to meet all your
needs and finally it has surge suppression which will protect your sensitive electronic equipment don t
take a shortcut don t use extension cords get a permanently installed outlet there to meet all of your
needs other popular electrical renovation topics are light fixtures and ceiling fans let s take a look at a
typical light fixture replacement although it s relatively easy to install and replace there s a couple of
key components you should be careful of one is this insulation on the top of the fixture it s tempting to

Brazilian Culture Research Paper
I am half Brazilian and half Japanese. My grandmother immigrated to Brazil when she was three years
old. There she met my grandfather, whom was also Japanese, and started her family. I was born in
Brazil in 1989, and I lived there until I was eleven. In 2000, my mother decided to move to Japan
because of its exceeding economy. When I first arrived in Japan, I was in shock! I had no idea that a
world so different from the one I ve known even existed. Brazilians and Japanese are the complete
opposite. The Brazilian culture is individualistic, and Brazilians tend to value individualism. They all
want to be unique in a certain way; no Brazilian wants to be average or just like everybody else.

They tend to arrive later than they are supposed to. Even services such as trains or TV programs tend
to be delayed. Japanese, on the other hand, are extremely punctual. If they say eight clock, it s eight o
clock; not 7:59; not 8:01. Shops, buses, trains; all the services follow the exact time they are supposed
to. And the list goes on and on... People often ask me Are you more Brazilian or more Japanese? My
answer is: neither. I think that when someone lives at a different country from their own, it changes
them, and they become something else. You still maintain some aspects of the first country that you
lived in, but you also acquire some aspects of the second country. You don t fully become the second
race nor you can go back to be what you were before, leaving you at an intermediate state. I am
neither Brazilian nor Japanese, I am another race. When I was living in Brazil as a child, I identified
myself as Brazilian. My personality was typical of a Brazilian girl. But those thirteen years that I lived
in Japan affected me and I acquired some Japanese characteristics. I am easy going, friendly, and
passionate; I express my feelings and emotions freely; and I know when to say no as a Brazilian. But I
am also punctual; I pay attention to details; and I try not to disturb my neighbors as a Japanese would

The New England Patriots Played Against The Indianapolis...
Introduction
During the 2015 AFC Championship, the New England Patriots played against the Indianapolis Colts
on January 18th in the Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, MA. Prior to halftime, however, the Colts
brought suspicions of the Patriots having deflated their balls. They requested the pressures be checked
at halftime. Two referees, Blakeman and Prioleau, each measured the pressure of both the Patriots and
the Colts balls with separate gauges. The Officials came to the conclusion that all 11 of the patriots
balls were underinflated, the required pressure being between 27.2 28.2 pounds per square inch (psi).
Footballs from the colts were also being tested and appeared to be in the accepted range. This situation
was temporarily postponed so the game could continue. The balls were filled to regulation pressure
before restarting. The patriots went on to win 45 7.
Shortly after, the media began to question the cause of the footballs being deflated. Detractors came to
the conclusion they were merely deflated on purpose, while supporters thought they may have been
affected by the cold temperatures that day, which were in the high forties. This lead to the NFL hiring
the independent law firm, PWRWG, to further investigate.
PWRWG is a science law firm which was assigned to determine if the footballs could infact have been
affected by the weather alone. Using the universal gas law to solve for moles (n), it will be determined
if gas was released.

Tesco s Strategy At The New Retail Market

in decades with sales plummeting and its market share being lost to the discounters and upmarket
supermarkets. The management team was overhauled and a new CEO, Dave Lewis, was appointed.
Lewis shut 43 unprofitable stores and scrapped the development of 49 others. (Quinn, 2015) He also
brought about various job cuts and sold some of Tesco s subsidiaries such as the broadband. In his
attempt to reduce costs by over a quarter of a million pounds per annum, he decided to close the
Chestnut Headquarters and merge it with the Welwyn Garden City office, consequently reducing the
management overheads (Shapland, 2015) These and other associated measures are very drastic cost
cutting measures, but they alone cannot revive Tesco. It needs more than just reducing waste and
overheads. In the words of Alastair Dryburgh You can t compete on price with someone who has
systematically designed their business to be cheaper than you. (Dryburgh, 2014) Tesco needs to cope

strongly dislikes humans. Ariel falls in love with a human prince, Eric, and looks to the evil sea

singing voice. In the end, Eric kills Ursula and Ariel and Eric get married. When Ariel gives her voice

their looks and use their body seductively to get a man.
Another stereotype given to women in Disney movies is that every story ends with the princess falling

Essay On The Eucharist
When one thinks of the Eucharist, they might think that it is just Christ s Body and Blood, and after
we receive it, we can go along doing our own thing. That is false. You see, the Eucharist is not just
something you receive on Sunday, and forget about; it is more than that. We are called to perform
services in the world and in our communities because of the Eucharist. This paper is about what we
are called to do after we receive the Eucharist, and what we as Catholics should be doing already. The
Eucharist enables us to come together as a Church every Sunday, and sometimes more often than that.
It also unites us with the angels in heaven and the deceased, which enables all of God s people to
participate in the celebration of Jesus s sacrifice. As Catholics, we never really worship alone. At the
Eucharistic Liturgy, we gather with the young and old, the rich and poor, as well as millions around
the world and the saints in heaven, to celebrate Christ s sacrifice (Body of Christ, Broken for the
World). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

dignity and respect, no matter what their race, social status, etc. Let me remind you: this is because of
the Eucharist. The Eucharist educates us to this love in a deeper way; it shows us, in fact, what value
each person, our brother or sister, has in God s eyes, if Christ offers Himself equally to each one,
under the species of bread and wine. If our Eucharistic worship is authentic, it must make us grow in
awareness of the dignity of each person. The awareness of that dignity becomes the deepest motive of

Decline of Biblical Christianity and Rise of Modern ...
Christianity has quickly begun to lose its true meaning throughout the years. It s when people use
words like love and morals and common sense they just don t have the same meaning as they once did
all those years ago. Christianity though, unlike the previously stated words, has been modernized in
such ways that we have deceivingly altered things such as The Ten Commandments to foolishly fit our
desired lifestyles. We have begun a modernization of Christianity I like to refer to as, Twenty First
Century Christianity. Christianity within itself has been the most complex simple part of life many
have ever had to endure, until really the late 1900 s when simplicity became the American standard for
most. First it was transportation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Christianity is no longer a category in religion, but also a category of specific people ranging from,
yes again, modernized Christians who talk the talk but have no desire to walk the walk; and those who
are called radicles because they live out the Gospel teachings going overseas and devoting their lives
to Christ. Now what are the differences between cultural (modern) Christian and biblical Christian
lifestyles? Well as David Platt put it in his book Radicle, We are settling for a Christianity that
revolves around catering to ourselves when the central message of Christianity is actually about
abandoning ourselves. Basically, David Platt was kindly beating around the bush about us as an
American culture, his book Radicle being strictly about American Christian culture, being lukewarm
in our faith, relationship and devotion to Christ in the way we live. In Revelation 3:16, So, because
you are lukewarm neither hot nor cold I am about to spit you out of my mouth. Harsh? Yeah, probably
a little bit, and one might see this and do what many do in this era; see it, curse it, and go about their
lukewarm Christian lifestyle as they have been. You see, this is where our instant gratification society
begins to crumble. To live as the Bible commands us to also involves

The Politics Of The Middle Class Essay
reform was mounted by an alliance that brought together wealthy industrialists and other members of
the upper class, but moved beyond to well educated members of the middle class, as well as middle
class voters. Reformers aimed to break down the political organization that thrived on immigrant votes
and claimed to break down the corrupt government that thrived on the public s purse. Concerns about
political corruption were closely connected to the rising fear of immigrants notably, the Great
Unwashed . They wanted to make local government more efficient and accountable for the tastes and
preferences of the middle class. Unlike most machine bosses and their followers who had little formal
education, many reformers were upper class wealthy industrialists. The strong contrast between the
educational background, class status, and interests of the reformers and political machines contribute
to reasons for why there seems to be a struggle for power with the reformers representing the upper
class and the, political machines representing the working class and immigrants. In addition to the
basis for their formation, the legislature that had been put in place by the reformers is not only proof
of this struggle for power, but also further disadvantaged the working class and empowered the upper
class. Reformers initiated several positive reforms to change the patronage system of government, but
many of them had repercussions that adversely affected working class citizens. To combat

Obstructive Sleep Apnea ( Osa ) Essay
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a major health problem, as more than 22 million adults in the U.S
suffer from OSA.1 The prevalence of moderate to severe OSA in older adults aged 65 and over is
twice as high as that in middle aged adults.2 Unfortunately, estimates suggest that 85% of individuals
with moderate to severe OSA remain undiagnosed.3 Individuals with untreated moderate to severe
OSA are at a greater risk for depression (DEP), mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and dementia
compared to individuals with no OSA. In OSA, repetitive intracranial blood flow surges during apneic
episodes cause disturbances in microvascular functions, resulting in hypoperfusion4 6 and poor
cerebral vasomotor reactivity.7 9 Hypoxemia promotes the development of cerebral small vessel

oxidative stress,14,15 which alters blood brain barrier functions and leads to the formation of C

the regulation of mood and cognition 11,19,20 and 2) reduction of prefrontal and frontal lobe vascular

Analysis Of Frremont High By Jonathan Kozol
Most people assume that America has the best education in the world. In fact, my dad moved our
whole family here mainly for us (his children) to get a good education. However, what he and many
others are not aware of is the effects that economic inequality has on education. Jonathan Kozol s
Fremont High discusses how the lack of funding affects the quality of education that students are
receiving. Homeless on Campus by Eleanor J Bader brings light to the hardships of homeless college
students and the fact that school institutions aren t providing them any assistance. On the other hand,
Anu Partanen s Finland School Success explores how getting rid of economic inequality had greatly
benefited education in Finland.
Jonathan Kozol, who is an American writer, best known for his books on public education in the
United States wrote about the condition of which students at a public high school in Los Angeles were
going through. In his essay, Fremont High , Kozol informs us of how students success was being
affected because of the lack of well equipped classrooms, as well as necessary classes to help them
succeed in college. Kozol starts off with a vivid description of the classrooms he was visiting. He
describes the conditions of these classrooms by saying that nearly a third of all the classrooms in the
school, were located in portables...in converted storage closets windowless and nasty (713). This is

  • 2. Hurricane Katrina Flood Risk Analysis Article #1: Flood Risk Management in the United States and the Impact of Hurricane Katrina. Article #1 Major points: The major points that the article focused on were that since people have first stepped foot on this continent, flooding has always been present. This constant presence has required the federal and local governments to help assist with the flood control, management, and the damages that flooding causes. There have been many policies established to help with floodplain management, but since the terrorist attack on September 11th, the risk analysis approach has taken precedent over the other policies (Galloway 302). In addition to being hopelessly behind in both reading and mathematics, I had terrible experiences with bullying. The combination of poor academic performance and social issues was deadly to my ability to learn. It took a year and two teachers who were incredibly dedicated to my individual progress to catch me up to my peers. And that was all I needed two teachers who noticed and cared to begin my work towards an eventual Ivy League education ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She is sent away but all she thinks of is being reunited with him. Abigail drinks blood, wishing to be with John Proctor, which could happen only if his wife Elizabeth died. She then, after committing adultery and contributing to the breaking of a marriage, is not through. Abigail pursues John and does not recognize that the affair is over. She conveys this in saying I have something better than hope, I think! (22). Abigail does not just miss her love, she becomes ruthless to get him back. Abigail William s aggressive personality easily persuades the other girls to follow her footsteps, and back up anything and everything she says. This personality also frightens people in the courtroom to question her truthfulness, or her relation with John Proctor. Waiting For Godot, By Judy Hegarty Lovett Waiting for Godot is known to be a classic example of Theater of the Absurd , drama using the neglect of conventional dramatic form to portray the ineptness of human struggle in a meaningless world. Director Judy Hegarty Lovett and actor Conor Lovett s Beckett work with Gare St Lazare Players Ireland has gained them a reputation as two of the world s foremost Beckett interpreters. Judy Hegarty Lovett and her husband, Conor Lovett, had a very successful year in 2014. I was very interested to see if this director/actor power couple held up to all the hype, and I was delighted to see such a strong performance by both. Conor, although working in a lot of solo plays the past year, was a pleasure to watch, and well deserved his Stage award for Acting Excellence, in 2014, for Title and Deed. Judy Hegarty did an outstanding job in the production of Waiting for Godot with the use of the simplicity of the character s needs, and subtle comical nature. Although reading this play was entertaining, it was a lot more eye opening in theaters. Throughout director Judy Hegarty Lovett s enactment, I was able to uncover themes within the performance that I was not aware of previously. With the help of absurdity and comedy, she effectively portrayed themes of choice, time, and uncertainty. Hamlet Gender Roles Rebecca Nottke Dr. Lawson HUM 1010 42 Nov. 15th, 2017 Gender: Women, the Lesser Sex Throughout the Ages When one thinks of art and religion, one may think of gender role defiance and non conformism. While this may be generally true in present times, it was not always this way. Women and men have had distinctly different places in society, these places often being unequal. Generally most well known works throughout the ages have adhered to and represented what society regarded as the proper gender roles for men and women. This is represented in three works of art which will be discussed: Hamlet by William Shakespeare, The Courtier: Book 3 by Baldassare Castiglione, and Luncheon on the Grass by Eduoard Manet. While these three forms of art come from different times and are of different mediums, they are connected in that they follow and represent the gender roles of their time. Hamlet is regarded by many as Shakespeare s most well known work. A tragedy focused on revenge, this work awed the Elizabethan audience with its shocking themes and content. The play follows Hamlet, a prince who is fixated on avenging his father, who was murdered by Hamlet s uncle Claudius. Throughout the entirety of the play, Hamlet behaves erratically and irrationally, focused entirely on revenge. This play features two prominent female characters, Gertrude, Hamlet s mother, and Ophelia, a girl in love with Hamlet. Competitive Forces Firstly, Hertz faces low threat of entry from the competitors. As Hertz serves in the car rental and equipment rental industry it has low barriers to entry due to need of excessive amount of startup cost and through product differentiation. With the company s excellent economy of scale the new entrants might find difficult to survive. By aiming at the product differentiate Hertz gained very good customer loyalty which new entrants might lack. To initiate a rental business one needs to have good financial resources. The likelihood of achieving profit in the rental industry may serve as a low barrier to the new entrants. Secondly, Hertz also faces the threat of substitutes. There are other platforms such as train, taxi, bus shuttle that consumer uses as the means of transport. Due to heavy competition in the car rental and equipment rental industry, consumers are attracted towards the other rental services which offer similar products with low prices. For example, Avis provides excellent customer service with low price on its car rental and United Rental provides equipment rental service at lower price. This can make the Hertz rental business less useful. This can affect the overall attractiveness of the industry. Prior to halftime, however, the Colts brought suspicions of the Patriots having deflated their balls. They requested the pressures be checked at halftime. Two referees, Blakeman and Prioleau, each measured the pressure of both the Patriots and the Colts balls with separate gauges. The Officials came to the conclusion that all 11 of the patriots balls were underinflated, the required pressure being between 27.2 28.2 pounds per square inch (psi). Footballs from the colts were also being tested and appeared to be in the accepted range. This situation was temporarily postponed so the game could continue. The balls were filled to regulation pressure before restarting. The patriots went on to win 45 7. Shortly after, the media began to question the cause of the footballs being deflated. Detractors came to the conclusion they were merely deflated on purpose, while supporters thought they may have been affected by the cold temperatures that day, which were in the high forties. This lead to the NFL hiring the independent law firm, PWRWG, to further investigate. PWRWG is a science law firm which was assigned to determine if the footballs could infact have been affected by the weather alone. Using the universal gas law to solve for moles (n), it will be determined if gas was released. Data Pressure of the Patriots ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

FIGURE 1: PORTER S GENERIC STRATEGY ADAPTED FROM (UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE, 2015) THE CURRENT SITUATION In 2014, Tesco witnessed its worst financial year in decades with sales plummeting and its market share being lost to the discounters and upmarket supermarkets. The management team was overhauled and a new CEO, Dave Lewis, was appointed. Lewis shut 43 unprofitable stores and scrapped the development of 49 others. (Quinn, 2015) He also brought about various job cuts and sold some of Tesco s subsidiaries such as the broadband. In his attempt to reduce costs by over a quarter of a million pounds per annum, he decided to close the Chestnut Headquarters and merge it with the Welwyn Garden City office, consequently reducing the management overheads (Shapland, 2015) These and other associated measures are very drastic cost cutting measures, but they alone cannot revive Tesco. It needs more than just reducing waste and overheads. In the words of Alastair Dryburgh You can t compete on price with someone who has systematically designed their business to be cheaper than you. (Dryburgh, 2014) Tesco needs to cope and not compete, and this issue is highlighted in various contexts in the report. • 31. Disney and Traditional Stereotypes Essays A little girl sits on the floor with her gaze fixed on the television screen in front of her, watching magical images dance before her eyes and catchy songs flow through her ears. Even though she had seen it at least twenty times before, she still loved The Little Mermaid just as much as she did the first time she watched it. As she watched it, she longed to be a beautiful mermaid with a curvy body and wonderful singing voice like Ariel. She longed to be saved by the handsome Prince Eric, and fall in love and live happily ever after like Ariel did. In today s society, women strive to achieve equality between the sexes. In the end, Eric kills Ursula and Ariel and Eric get married. When Ariel gives her voice up to become human, she becomes concerned with how she will communicate with Eric. Ursula tells her, You ll have your looks, your pretty face, and don t underestimate the importance of body language and The men up there don t like a lot of blabber, they think a girl who gossips is a bore. Yes, on land it s much preferred for ladies not to say a word. This suggests that all women need to do is maintain their looks and use their body seductively to get a man. • 33. Essay On The Eucharist When one thinks of the Eucharist, they might think that it is just Christ s Body and Blood, and after we receive it, we can go along doing our own thing. That is false. You see, the Eucharist is not just something you receive on Sunday, and forget about; it is more than that. We are called to perform services in the world and in our communities because of the Eucharist. This paper is about what we are called to do after we receive the Eucharist, and what we as Catholics should be doing already. The Eucharist enables us to come together as a Church every Sunday, and sometimes more often than that. It also unites us with the angels in heaven and the deceased, which enables all of God s people to participate in the celebration of Jesus s sacrifice. As Catholics, we never really worship alone. At the Eucharistic Liturgy, we gather with the young and old, the rich and poor, as well as millions around the world and the saints in heaven, to celebrate Christ s sacrifice (Body of Christ, Broken for the World). ... One soon begins to realize that all people are children of God and need to be treated equally with dignity and respect, no matter what their race, social status, etc. Let me remind you: this is because of the Eucharist. The Eucharist educates us to this love in a deeper way; it shows us, in fact, what value each person, our brother or sister, has in God s eyes, if Christ offers Himself equally to each one, under the species of bread and wine. If our Eucharistic worship is authentic, it must make us grow in awareness of the dignity of each person. The awareness of that dignity becomes the deepest motive of our relationship with our neighbor (Dominicae Cenae, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Decline of Biblical Christianity and Rise of Modern ... Christianity has quickly begun to lose its true meaning throughout the years. It s when people use words like love and morals and common sense they just don t have the same meaning as they once did all those years ago. Christianity though, unlike the previously stated words, has been modernized in such ways that we have deceivingly altered things such as The Ten Commandments to foolishly fit our desired lifestyles. We have begun a modernization of Christianity I like to refer to as, Twenty First Century Christianity. Christianity within itself has been the most complex simple part of life many have ever had to endure, until really the late 1900 s when simplicity became the American standard for most. First it was transportation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Christianity is no longer a category in religion, but also a category of specific people ranging from, yes again, modernized Christians who talk the talk but have no desire to walk the walk; and those who are called radicles because they live out the Gospel teachings going overseas and devoting their lives to Christ. Now what are the differences between cultural (modern) Christian and biblical Christian lifestyles? Well as David Platt put it in his book Radicle, We are settling for a Christianity that revolves around catering to ourselves when the central message of Christianity is actually about abandoning ourselves. Basically, David Platt was kindly beating around the bush about us as an American culture, his book Radicle being strictly about American Christian culture, being lukewarm in our faith, relationship and devotion to Christ in the way we live. In Revelation 3:16, So, because you are lukewarm neither hot nor cold I am about to spit you out of my mouth. Harsh? Yeah, probably a little bit, and one might see this and do what many do in this era; see it, curse it, and go about their lukewarm Christian lifestyle as they have been. You see, this is where our instant gratification society begins to crumble. To live as the Bible commands us to also involves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. The Politics Of The Middle Class Essay reform was mounted by an alliance that brought together wealthy industrialists and other members of the upper class, but moved beyond to well educated members of the middle class, as well as middle class voters. Reformers aimed to break down the political organization that thrived on immigrant votes and claimed to break down the corrupt government that thrived on the public s purse. Concerns about political corruption were closely connected to the rising fear of immigrants notably, the Great Unwashed . They wanted to make local government more efficient and accountable for the tastes and preferences of the middle class. Unlike most machine bosses and their followers who had little formal education, many reformers were upper class wealthy industrialists. The strong contrast between the educational background, class status, and interests of the reformers and political machines contribute to reasons for why there seems to be a struggle for power with the reformers representing the upper class and the, political machines representing the working class and immigrants. In addition to the basis for their formation, the legislature that had been put in place by the reformers is not only proof of this struggle for power, but also further disadvantaged the working class and empowered the upper class. Reformers initiated several positive reforms to change the patronage system of government, but many of them had repercussions that adversely affected working class citizens. To combat ... • 37. Obstructive Sleep Apnea ( Osa ) Essay Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a major health problem, as more than 22 million adults in the U.S suffer from OSA.1 The prevalence of moderate to severe OSA in older adults aged 65 and over is twice as high as that in middle aged adults.2 Unfortunately, estimates suggest that 85% of individuals with moderate to severe OSA remain undiagnosed.3 Individuals with untreated moderate to severe OSA are at a greater risk for depression (DEP), mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and dementia compared to individuals with no OSA. In OSA, repetitive intracranial blood flow surges during apneic episodes cause disturbances in microvascular functions, resulting in hypoperfusion4 6 and poor cerebral vasomotor reactivity.7 9 Hypoxemia promotes the development of cerebral small vessel disease (C SVD).10 13 Repeated rapid alternations between hypoxia and reoxygenation cause oxidative stress,14,15 which alters blood brain barrier functions and leads to the formation of C SVD.16 18 The consequences of C SVD are 1) disruption of neuronal activity in regions involved in the regulation of mood and cognition 11,19,20 and 2) reduction of prefrontal and frontal lobe vascular perfusion,10,21 23 which causes neuronal metabolic deficiencies that may lead to synaptic loss and neuronal damage.24,25 The progression of C SVD is now known to be associated with new onset depression,26 MCI,27,28 and an increased risk for dementia.27,29,30 Based on this supporting evidence, we hypothesize that C SVD may mediate ... • 38. Analysis Of Frremont High By Jonathan Kozol Most people assume that America has the best education in the world. In fact, my dad moved our whole family here mainly for us (his children) to get a good education. However, what he and many others are not aware of is the effects that economic inequality has on education. Jonathan Kozol s Fremont High discusses how the lack of funding affects the quality of education that students are receiving. Homeless on Campus by Eleanor J Bader brings light to the hardships of homeless college students and the fact that school institutions aren t providing them any assistance. On the other hand, Anu Partanen s Finland School Success explores how getting rid of economic inequality had greatly benefited education in Finland. Jonathan Kozol, who is an American writer, best known for his books on public education in the United States wrote about the condition of which students at a public high school in Los Angeles were going through. In his essay, Fremont High , Kozol informs us of how students success was being affected because of the lack of well equipped classrooms, as well as necessary classes to help them succeed in college. Kozol starts off with a vivid description of the classrooms he was visiting. He describes the conditions of these classrooms by saying that nearly a third of all the classrooms in the school, were located in portables...in converted storage closets windowless and nasty (713).
