Essay Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is the most frequent cause of death between 1 month and
1 year of age (Naeye). SIDS is defined as the sudden death of any infant or young child that is
unexpected by it s history, and in which a thorough postmortem examination fails to determine an
adequate cause (Hunt 1987). It is important to consider both aspects of this definition in order not
to overdiagnose SIDS. A mistake of this nature would occur with failure to report a previous
history of seizures, or if at the time of the autopsy a differentiation between suffocation due to
rebreathing and SIDS was not made (Kemp 1993). One of the major characteristics of SIDS is that
of silent death , which occurs during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
to determine if the nucleus of the hypoglossal nerve and the nucleus of the vagus nerve showed
any abnormalities in SIDS patients. These structures were chosen because it is thought that some
victims may have their airway blocked by their tongue during sleep (the hypoglossal is known to
control tongue movements), or that possibly cardiac arrhythmia s may be the cause of SIDS death
(due to the vagus nerve) (Naeye). It was found that there were fewer neurons in the hypoglossal
nerve nuclei of SIDS victims with abnormally small carotid bodies. This could in fact be an
explanation for the obstruction of the airway by the tongue during obstructive apnea (Naeye). An
explanation of why there were fewer neurons was not given.
The human brain is not fully developed at birth (Kopp 1992). This plays a role in the aspect of
certain neurotransmitters which are vital to the human body. It has been demonstrated that in a
normal central nervous system, serotonin declines as well as norepinephrine in the first few months
after birth (Becker 1990). In a study conducted by Hilaire et al., it was postulated that increased
levels of serotonin might be involved in obstructive apnea, leading to SIDS (Hilaire 1992). The
reasoning for this was that serotonin depresses the hypoglossal respiratory output. The results did in
fact cause lethal apneas of newborn rats which were injected with L tryptophan thereby stimulating
serotonin synthesis.

How The Millions Of Life Changed After Hurricane Katrina
Millions of lives were changed in a day by a cruel and wasteful storm. President George W. Bush
said this after Hurricane Katrina struck the southeastern United States in late August of 2005. It
affected more than 15 million people and over 90 thousand square miles in the states of Florida,
Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.
First, Hurricane Katrina started by the Bahamas on August 23 and headed northwest towards
Florida. That evening it hit between Miami and Lauderdale, Florida as a category one hurricane.
Four days later, the strom moved on to the Gulf of Mexico and strengthened to be a category 3
hurricane. On August 29 it hit Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana and New Orleans, as a category 5
hurricane. The natural disaster brought 125 miles per hour winds, huge waves, flooding and
enormous surges. 80 percent of the city was underwater and there were billions of gallons of
water in New Orleans. About 1,000 people drowned because of the flooding and others struggled to
survive as water filled their homes. Tens of thousands of people, that either couldn t or ... Show

There was a total of 440 thousand residents before the natural disaster and after, about 75 percent
came back. 5 days after Hurricane Katrina struck, 34 thousand people were rescued from New
Orleans and a week later the whole city was evacuated. President George Bush contributed more
than 60 million for recovery, but the government of Kuwait donated even more with 500 million.
Americans donated more than 1 billion to the city and others from all over the world donated
billions to charity. After Hurricane Katrina, the Humane Society of the United States organized
the largest animal rescue in history. Hundreds of people from all over the country came to New
Orleans to rescue dogs and cats from rooftops and trees. Some even rescued goats and pigs. Many
animals were returned to their owners and other were put in shelters to be adopted by new

Essay Sam Houston
Sam Houston
Sam Houston was as legend reports a big man about six foot and six inches tall. He was an
exciting historical figure and war hero who was involved with much of the early development of
our country and Texas. He was a soldier, lawyer, politician, businessman, and family man, whose
name will be synonymous with nation heroes who played a vital part in the shaping of a young and
prosperous country. He admired and supported the Native Americans who took him in and adopted
him into their culture to help bridge the gap between the government and a noble forgotten race.
Sam Houston succeeded in many roles he donned as a man, but the one most remembered is the
one of a true American hero.

Surprisingly, Houston resigned his commission in the army over false accusations concerning his
involvement in slave trading.
Houston studied law in Judge James Trimble s law office in Nashville, Tennessee. Six months
later he passed the bar and started a law practice in Lebanon, Tennessee where he was appointed
Adjutant General of the state of Tennessee, with the military rank of Colonel. Next, he was
nominated and won the office of Attorney General of the Nashville District in Tennessee. Sam
later resigned to return to private law practice, but was soon elected by his fellow officers to the
position of Major General in the Tennessee state militia. He had a history of bouncing back and
forth between politics and the military. Nominated by Andrew Jackson s Democratic Party for
the U.S. House of Representatives, Houston won the election by getting 100% of the votes. Not
uncommon for politicians in the time period, Sam Houston badly wounded General William A.
White in a duel fought 6 miles south of Franklin, Kentucky. Soon after, in 1827 Sam was elected
Governor of Tennessee, replacing two term Governor William Carrol. Two years later he
married his first wife, Eliza Allen, an 18 year old daughter of a plantation owner. Within two
weeks of his marriage, Houston was announced as a candidate for re election as Governor of
Tennessee. Sam separated from his wife Eliza after less than four months of marriage. One week
later he resigned as Governor of

PSY 301 Week 3 Assignment Persuasion Who What To Whom Essay
This paperwork comprises PSY 301 Week 3 Assignment Persuasion Who What To Whom
Persuasion: Who, What, To Whom
As we explore persuasion, we can divide the persuasive communication into three parts: the
communicator, the message, and the audience. First, we will deal with what characteristics of
persuaders make people more likely to be persuaded. Next, we will think about characteristics of
the message that lead people to change. Finally, we will explore what characteristics of the
audience can lead them to be persuaded. (Feenstra, 2011, p. 88) For your assignment this week,
provide an in depth analysis of the three parts of persuasion. Please reference the bullet points below

(2011) states, As we explore persuasion, we can divide the persuasive communication into three
parts: the communicator, the message, and the audience. (p. 88). For your assignment this week,
construct a paper that provides an in depth analysis of the three parts of persuasion. Address the
following points in your paper:
1. Who Describe the Characteristics of the Persuader: What influences our ability to become
persuaded by someone? What specific characteristics must this person possess? Be sure to
address the impact of credibility, physical attractiveness, and likeability in your response. Why do
we respond well to those who possess such characteristics? Would we respond the same to an
unattractive, angry, or non credible person? Why not? 2. What Discuss the Characteristics of the
Message: What attributes are inherent in persuasive messages? How are we influenced by the
emotion, framing, narratives, and rational appeals in the messaging we receive? What is the
significance of the sleeper effect? 3. To Whom Examine the Characteristics of the Audience: Why
do different audiences perceive messages in different ways? What is the role of culture, gender,

Barbaric Masculinity In Anthony Burgess A Clockwork Orange
A clockwork orange by Anthony Burgess is commonly(different verb) praised for shedding light on
Toxic masculinity even in 2018 when in fact perpetuates and even normalizes this toxic form of
masculinity. The form of barbaric violent masculinity alex portrays is just that, barbaric and violent
to men and women today. However a Clockwork orangealmost inspires some to adopt this toxic
masculinity. Anthony Burgesstries to raise awareness for a reality he unknowingly inaugurates.
I cannot speak for the 1960 s or 1970 s when the book and movie were released, but in 2018 toxic
masculinity is neither common nor promoted in society. The type of masculinity promoted in
modern movies is a direct reflection of the values masculinity holds today.

is poverty the main factor affect crime

In the essay I m going to talk about criminology and criminology is the scientific study of crime and
criminals. Is one social group involved in crime more than other social groups? Crime is an
unlawful act punishable by the state, harmful act or omission against the public which the state
wishes to prevent and which, upon conviction is punishable by fine, imprisonment and in some
countries death. No conduct constitutes a crime unless it is declared criminal in the laws of the
country and poverty is the state of being extremely poor and being without things, having little

MARXISM AND CRIME
Marxist theory in general is that they believe that capitalism can only thrive though the
explerations of the working class, Marxist believes that they re a clear link between human
nature and the way we operate in a capitalist society. Marxist believes that capitalism is not only
an economic system but is also a political system, Marxist believe that a key role in the control of
the proletariat is the use of alienation in all aspects of society ; this provides the bourgeoisie with
a supple mass of workers who do not mind working for external rewards of a constant wage.

Frank Stella Early Childhood
Frank Stella is an American painter/printmaker born on May 12, 1936 in Malden,
Massachusetts. His parents were first generation Italian American parents. Stella s schooling
took place at Phillips Academy in Andover from 1950 1954. While there, he studied painting
with the abstractionist Patrick Morgan. Later, Stella attended Princeton University where he
earned a degree in history; Princeton did not offer a degree in studio art. During his time there,
he did take art courses but most of his learning was from self teaching. His professors, painter
Stephen Greene and art historian William Seitz, introduced Stella to the New York art world.
These professors helped to shape Stella s earliest artistic aesthetic. After graduating Princeton,

Flexibility of Management in Accounting Policy: Receivables are recognised and carried at
original invoice amount less a provision for any uncollectible debts. They make an estimate for
doubtful debts when collection of the full amount is no longer probable. The estimation of
provision of doubtful debt relative to receivable is regularly reviewed. Bad debts are written off as
incurred. As can be seen, it is a bit risky approach for the company not to assign provision of bad
debts according to the percentage of credit sales. It is to be noted here that the days of receivable

Essay about Shi ite Sunni Conflict
Iraq and Iran have been subjected to a civil war since the seventh century (Murphy 1). This
existing problem began because of political and theological divergence, but with the help of
outside forces such as Britain, Russia, and North America, it developed into a more complex crisis.
Many non Muslims believe the cause of the Shi ite and Sunni violence originated from their
religious differences. However the differences in tradition, education, law, and religious practices
are a small factor in this escalating problem. The core of their faith is practically identical. Both
factions believe that Muhammad, their prophet, was the messenger of Allah. They also believe that

Ali shared the same blood as Muhammad. In their opinion, this made Ali holy. Shi ites saw
caliphs more as spiritual and temporal leaders rather than rulers. Each side had its rational
notions, but since more people followed Bakr, he was appointed the next caliph. Shi ite
remained under his guidance, but felt it was an abomination. Two more leaders, Umar and
Utham, followed, each appointed by Sunnis. The Shi ite then began to act on their beliefs and
some of Ali s dedicated followers murdered Utham, bringing his reign to an abrupt end. In 656
A.D. Ali became the successor ( Sunni Shi a 2). Many Muslims knew the cause of Utham s
death and were angry at Ali, for he had not brought Utham s killers to justice, one of whom was
Mu awiya, who had been the governor of Damascus and cousin of Utham. When Ali was
assassinated in 661 A.D., Mu awiya felt great pleasure in his death and found his revenge in
stealing Ali s old position; there was, yet again, another Sunni leader. Mu awiya lead the Sunni
Muslims through a prosperous time, the Umayyad dynasty. This period of growth played a huge
role in the power, control, and population of the Sunni Muslims while the Shi ttes remained

Teenagers Vs Teenagers
Off the top of your head you may think life as a teenager is about the same no matter what
generation you are from, but that is not the case. Although there are definitely similarities, there are
many differences. A teen from the late eighty s, my parents generation, would feel a little awkward
living as a teen in 2017, my generation, and vice versa. Things like ways of communicating, fashion,
and moneyin my generation are very different than they were during my parents generation. Zip
click click click click. Zip click click click click. That was the sound my parents landlines made
as they dialed their friends phone numbers. Communication in the eighty s was much different
than it is today. They couldn t just send quick texts to whoever they wanted to whenever they
wanted to like we can. If they wanted to call and talk to someone, they had to be somewhere
where they had access to a phone and couldn t move very far. When they wanted to ask their
friend across the classroom about their plans after school, rather than pulling out their cell phone,
they would write down a note on a piece of paper. They then had their peers pass it around until it
made it to their friend. To stay in contact with family and friends who lived far away, besides
calling for an additional fee, they would sit down with some stationary and a pencil and write them
letters. Communicating is a lot simpler for teens nowadays than it was for teens in the late eighty s.

Public Meeting At The City Of Saskatoon Where I Grew Up
Bruno, Saskatchewan, a small town east of Saskatoon where I grew up, is known for its hay
farms, and cherry festivals. Similar to other small towns, you will find the town office on the
busiest street in town the main street. On February 22, 2016, I attended a public meeting in Bruno

on staying as long as it took for me to get the information I needed on policy and how the council

having some order. In addition, there was no form of talking stick, which caused Interruptions and

Even though the decision making process was scattered, shared decision making is what was
happening. On one issue they were all clear, quick and on the same page. On the other issues
discussed they were scattered. There was no one leader of the decision; there were multiple
leaders for a discussion at different times. Therefore, as an observer, this was extremely difficult
to follow along. Bruno council did follow shared decision making and a strategic planning
approach. Even though they used the majority of the steps, the discussion could have been more
formally approached. However, you can take into consideration this council represents a small
population. The support for this approach consists of reform minded policy makers and leaders,
which is hard to come by in a smaller community. These individuals that were sitting at the table are
knowledgeable individuals. However, they do not enable the experiences broader sectors do. Even
though, Bruno council lacks the broader spectrum, they do practice one of the most important
benefits of policy making, shared learning.
The first thing on the agenda was revising the employee code of conduct and conflict of interest
policy. The administrator asked if everyone read the code of conduct and the policy, some of the
council said no. One councillor then asked what the objection to the policy was. The councillor in
charge of the policy clarified. She brought forth words that should be changed. Therefore,

Vaccinations Should Not Be A Medical Exemption From...
Vaccinations: The Right to Choose Is requiring vaccinations overstepping the bounds of our
right to make our own medical choices for ourselves as well as for our children? Or, is it safe
and necessary for the greater good to prevent deadly diseases? Are those who choose not to
vaccinate themselves or their children putting the rest of the population at risk? Where should
the line, if any, be drawn? Why are more and more people using exemptions to vaccinations?
How safe and effective are vaccinations? I will share important information on both sides of the
issue to help you decide the answers to these questions. Currently, all fifty U.S. states offer a
medical exemption from vaccinations. This means that someone could be exempt from receiving
one or all of the vaccines based on medical necessity. For example, those who have compromised
or weakened immune systems should be able to get a medical exemption. These exemptions
require permission from a medical physician and getting them is difficult as most doctors in the
mainstream medical community support and encourage vaccinations. There are two other types of
exemptions religious and philosophical. As of October 2016, three states California, West Virginia,
and Mississippi do not offer either of these. They are medical exemption states only. Of the
remaining states, 32 of them offer medical and religious exemptions. Only the remaining 18 states
offer all three exemptions. These numbers are decreasing as more and

A Woman s Best Quality Eggs
A woman is at her most fertile when she is in the ages 20 to 24. Infertility is generally defined as
the inability to conceive after one year of unprotected sex. At the age of 30 fertility starts to
gradually decline, the chance of successfully conceiving each cycle drops from 22% to just 6 to
8% between 30 and 40 years of age. This big drop in fertility is due to the ageing of a female s
eggs. When born women have around a million eggs, by the time they reach their mid thirties
this number will have dropped to around 25,000. Unfortunately, a woman s best quality eggs
will likely have been used up when younger, meaning the ones left over are of a worse quality
and therefore less fertile. Women also release fewer eggs when they get older. In terms of
successful IVF treatment (which is more often used by older women), for women under 35
years the success rate is around 27%, but for women over 40 years old that drops to as low as
6%. The graph to the left shows the general trend in the drop in fertility, backing up what was
said earlier, and further backed up by Benjamin Younger, the executive director of the American
Society for Reproductive Medicine. He states that fertility continues to decline after the age of 35
but takes a nosedive at the age of 38. Clearly fertility is something to be worried about, and
looking at these stats it is well worth getting pregnant younger in order to have a better chance of
getting pregnant and also having good quality eggs still. Health

Scenario Of A School Counselor
The role of a school counselor is to successfully reach the child where they are and to find ways
that will help benefit them to succeed no matter what comes their way. As a counselor it is
important to use methods and techniques that work best in the situation that is presented as well as
what works best for that student. It takes careful consideration on which direction to go when
counseling students as all students are not the same and everyone handles things different. The
focus of the counselor is to provide guidance, support and direction for all students.
In the following scenarios we see two very different situations that need to be addressed in very

foster care homes, and two different schools and is currently in 1st grade, he was pulled from his
previous school where his sibling still go. The teacher complains of his behavior, lack of focus and
disruption to the rest of the class. The teacher has referred Steven to the counselor to get him
further help in managing his classroom behavior. The second Scenario is a young girl in ninth
grade, named Abby. Abby lives with her mom and two biological brothers. Mom works two jobs
just to get by and Abby spends most of her time home alone with her brother, helping care for
them. Abby is struggling academically, missing a lot of school, and is often seen alone. Abby has
always succeeded really well in school and now things are

The Cleveland Elementary School Shooting
The Cleveland Elementary School Shooting, 1989 Some refer to it as The Slaughter in a School
Yard, The Stockton Massacre, and others as The Cleveland Elementary School Shooting.
Something as horrifying as someone shooting down innocent children playing at recesses on
school grounds was never expected here in the United States of America. Although there was
past cases of school shootings, this was the first shooting to be televised on national television
of its magnitude (Taining, P et al., 2014). A mass murderer is defined as someone who
slaughters many people at one time. This particular incident unfortunately was not the slaughter
of people, but it was children. It happened around 11:40 AM on January 17th, 1989 in Stockton,
California. A man by the name of Patrick Edward Purdy opened fire on children ages six through
nine playing at recess on school grounds of Cleveland Elementary School. This tragic case
brought questions to people everywhere in our nation as to why it was so easy for a mentally
unstable individual such as Patrick Purdy to enter a gun store and purchase a semiautomatic
weapon ( Slaughter in a, 2001). Patrick Edward Purdy was born November 10, 1964 in Fort
Lewis Washington. His parents divorced at age two. He is described as an adolescent as quiet but
unable to cope with anything. He had a troubled relationship with his mother and was made to leave
his mother s home after an altercation between the two resulting in him hitting her. He

Microsystem Summary
Johnson (2006) eloquently talks about healthcare systems as cumbersome, unwieldy, unfriendly and
opaque to its users (Johnson, 2006, p. i10). It is the challenge of this post to take the clinical
microsystem where I practice, the HIV Health Service Center clinic, and discuss the
interrelationships of this microsystem to the microsystems of other primary care clinics in the
county system. The main role of the mesosystem is to support the microsystems. According to
Bronfenbrenner s ecological system s theory, the mesosystem contains the relationship between two
systems, or between the primary care clinics in the county system and the macrosystem which
contains both the microsystem and the mesosystem. Moreover, the Multnomah County Health
Department could be identified as the macrosystem here or we could identify the larger state system
as the macrosystem. Communication between systems is an area that could be enhanced to
improve overall functioning of the clinics.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Team members huddle each morning to coordinate care for the day. Communication between other
primary care clinics is conducted through EPIC, county email and during monthly provider
meetings where all providers meet to discuss policy or attend some form of continuing education
to enhance patient care. Communication with the macro system of the Multnomah County Health
Department is less clearly developed on a daily basis creating a sense of disconnect with the
macrosystem. Nevertheless, one area where the macrosystem clearly sets the pace is in the area of
implementing a trauma informed care approach throughout the county system. Best practices for
trauma informed care is set at the state and federal levels through SAMHSA and is then translated
into practice at the meso and micro system levels. Initially developed at the macrosystem level,
policy around trauma informed care is imbedded in every level of

NAFTA boosted regional trade but had some undesirable effects. The Mexican government used
to subsidize corn. It kept the crop price high so small farmers could stay in business. And it kept
corn product prices low so poor people could eat. The trade agreement removed tariffs in order to
lower costs and encourage investment between the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The Mexican
government ended its corn subsidy, and the U.S. government continued to subsidize highly
productive American corn producers. Seventy five thousand Iowa farmers grew twice as much
corn as three million Mexican farmers at half the cost. U.S. corn flooded Mexico. Illegal
immigration led to massive militarization of the border. In Mexico, manufacturers built new
factories for cars, TVs and other goods, replacing some jobs that used to be in the U.S. NAFTA

AND ITS BACKGROUND 1.1 Introduction Mobile phones have become very popular in recent
years and their development has been amazing. It is no wonder why they have become
irreplaceable. With all applications which go with them they have gained a huge popularity with
the people nowadays especially the teenagers. A mobile phone (also known as a cellular phone, cell

In addition, not possessing mobile phone/s is higher in the age bracket 15 16 year olds when
compared to 13 14 olds. The spread of mobile communication among teenagers has been
markedly rapid during the latter half of the 1990s. Young people have created and developed a
communication culture that incorporates many special features, such as a rise in the use of text
based communication channels. Teenagers intersecting and selective use of communication
channels has generated multimedia communication. From the theoretical standpoint provided
by symbolic interactions, we can ask whether communication through new media technologies
generates new forms of social interaction. If this is the case, how could we describe and analyze
these new forms of interaction? The media landscapes created by teenagers serve to articulate
their personal space, as well as enabling their presentation of self and defining their relationships
to others. The quality of sleep of almost half of 16 year olds may be affected by text messaging
on mobile phones, a study from Belgium says. The sleep of one in four 13 year olds could be
affected too, says the researchers, who looked at the effects of text messaging on sleep interruption
in teenagers (Journal of Sleep Research (2003:12:263). In the

How Is Entertainment Ruining Society
Mr. Gabler s assertion that entertainment would eventually ruin society, although not entirely
invalid, is not correct. Entertainment has been a near essential part of culture since culture has been
around. While entertainment has been a part of society for an indefinite time in recent years it has
become increasingly integrated into the everyday lives of people. In the 18th century a popular
example of entertainmentwould be the theatre. This was the era of great poets and writers like
Shakespeare. Despite the increasing notoriety these establishments attained the people who
regularly attended still only did so on a weekly basis and would not have had more than two or
three hours worth of exposure to these events. This meant that the people... Show more content on

No longer are people spending a few hours per week on entertaining events like plays or fairs.
Rather we see a complete integration of entertainment into daily life. Televisionruns on a 24/7
basis, the internet is constantly available for entertaining purposes, and shows or movies are
streamed by the billions per year. This constant exposure to entertainment has given people less
time to think and therefore has blurred the lines between the entertainment and reality. In fact,
entities like reality TV has completely negated any sense of fictional entertainment. This has had
conflicting effects. Smoking, for example, is commonly considered to be highly detrimental to
your health. This is advertised today in commercials, shows, and movies. However, it is these
same methods of defaming it that it became a widespread issue originally. In the mid 20th century
smoking became wildly popular due to famous movie stars being portrayed as smoking. People

Life Of The Chosen Analysis
The Life of the Chosen
Our story begins in the late Medieval era, the 16th century. Right after the death of Al Andalus, the
arabic prince of Denmark. The country of Denmark was in a political turmoil to defend their
reputations as one of the strongest, superpower nation of the world. But after their great warrior
king s death, the other allied and opposing countries were beginning to undermine the status of
modern day Denmark. Whilst all this is happening, the nation itself was beginning to change in the
direction of the ideology of Europe, one of these new values was Chivalry. The solution devised by
the new administration was to follow the European revolution and create an army similar to that of
Britain, solving the status problem and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Typical Medium Dynamical Cluster Approximation
We generalize the typical medium dynamical cluster approximation (TMDCA) for systems with off
diagonal disorder.
By applying our approach to the Anderson model we consider the effects of nonlocal correlations
and typical environment beyond the local Blackman, Esterling, and Berk (BEB) method. %coherent
potential approximation.
Our formalism allows us to systematically study the effects of off diagonal disorder on the phase
diagram of traditional three dimensional Anderson model.
Disorder which is inevitably present in most real materials can drammatically affect their
properties~cite{Lee_RevModPhys,Belitz_RevModPhys}. It can lead to changes of their structure
and transport. One of the most prominent effects of disorder is the spacial confinement of charge
carriers known as Anderson localization ~cite{Anderson}.
The simplest model used to study these disorder effects is the
Anderson model which is a single band tight binding model with a random on site disorder potential.
Such a model is justified when the introduction of disorder in, for example a binary alloy by
substitution of host atoms by impurities, does not affect the neighbors and leads to the change of
the local potential on the substitution site only. In this situation the disorder appears only in the
diagonal terms of the Hamiltonian and hence is referred to as diagonal disorder (DD) case.
However, in the case when the bandwidth of from the dopant impurity atoms is very different from
the band width

The Hidden Personality
The essay He Would Never Hurt a Fly: War Criminals on Trial in The Hague
Written by Slavenka Drakulic in 2004 recaptures the life in Yugoslavia during the ethnic
War and a crucial period of the dissolving country. This period of life was the 60 s and the
generation was healthy there was no formula, cotton diapers, and no danger (Drakulic 1118). The
essay is told by a native of Croatia, who uses her personal familiarity of people and the community
to report using both journalism and fiction. It tells a story of the trial of a trusting young man
named Goran Jelisic that becomes cultivated by the war going on around him. Goran was a ... Show

It is debated in the essay that Goran was a narcissistic and antisocial personality determined by
two psychiatrists (Drakulic 1122), or was he a victim of the war that lead him to kill for eighteen
days. Another theory was that he was forced and afraid of his life. I find it ironic that he plead
guilty and was willing to take his punishment with no defense. This essay showed how we all are a
victim of our upbringing and surroundings. It portrays a life of a normal human that had goals and
ambitions but failed due to power of one s inner soul. You can t help but feel that Goran was a
victim and not just a killer that turned, with the blink of an eye into a monster. He pretended to
be God and got a high of showing his power by executing prisoners (Drakulic 1125). He was a
young farm mechanic given a pistol and power that he had never received before, but had longed
for his whole life.
It seems like Goran could have been anyone of us from the grocery store clerk, the CEO of a big
corporation, or the stay at home mother that had just had enough. The human race is a complex
breed that at any point we can be pushed over the edge. Looks can be deceiving and while
everything appears to be put together the inner battle within ones soul could portray a monster
waiting to be pushed over the edge. I believe that no one is brought into this world evil; they are a
product of their environments that forms their inner demons.

The Cold War as it is called was a war that started because of tensions between the United States
and its allies and the Soviet Union and its allies. The tensions that developed were primarily over
military, political, cultural and social ideas that varied greatly between the two nations. Each Nation
and its allies developed a distrust that would last for many years and introduce new military and
political methods that would shape our future.

Stalin thought the USA and Britain had not helped the USSR enough in World War II. They
charged the United States with practicing imperialism and attempting to stop revolutionary
activity in other countries. Both nations were somewhat correct in their fears. The United States
was trying to encourage Capitalism, and the Soviet Union was trying to spread communism, but
they both believed it was the politically, socially and militarily correct thing to do. Because of
these strong beliefs the tensions between the two nations grew stronger, and negotiations grew
further apart. The tensions between what was often referred to as the West (United States) and
the East (Soviet Union) grew stronger. Espionage, spying and the development of nuclear
weapons was on the rise. Each nation was counter acting each others moves to be stronger and
stay ahead of the other in the field of military operations. Propaganda was on the rise to raise
awareness of the others actions and build encouragement for their respective views. The distrust
that was developing was growing stronger as the war carried on. However, each nation knew that
a real war involving the loss of men and destruction of property was not a solution. Both the United
States and the Soviet Union were equally strong, some with large armies and others with weapons
of mass destruction. Each nation was trying to match or overtake the other in both these areas

The Importance Of The Humanities Faire
The Humanities Faire, which varies year to year, is a very valued outread of Jesse Remington
High School. The 2018 Humanities Faire will be Colonial America. Going into the Faire, it is
important to know all of the aspects and have an overview of what the Faire is going to focus on.
Colonial America is often viewed as just the 13 original English colonies, but often people leave
out the fact that there were already French, Spanish, Dutch, and other groups of people in America.
That is an important factor to America, along with Great Britain and what happened there to cause
people to voyage over to America. Another them that must covered is the religious groups and
strifes between those. To accomplish all of this, strong and willing leaders are needed.
The way the leaders have been set up in the past two fairs have worked really well. Having two
seniors or a senior with a junior has made each group and the overall goal succeed. Keeping the
senior as a group leader is wise because they have the most Faire experience and knowledge.
Having that second senior or junior is great help for more guidance and helps make the Faire
become more of a success and supported. The way they should be paired is by looking at the
strengths and weaknesses of each senior/junior and deciding who would work best together to make
the project a great achievement.
In order to be a leader, people should know what it takes to be a leader. This means they should be
the students that have

Why Cheerleading Should Be Considered A Sport
A cheerleader, by definition, is a person who is a member or of a group who shout out special
songs or chants to encourage the team and entertain the crowd during a game. Yet, you see
cheerleaders doing more than just standing around and being pretty in movies, television shows,
and even their own games. They throw people in the air and catch them, they do flips, jumps. They
have their own competitions. But why is it still not considered a sportto many?
A sport is defined as an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team

Analysis Of I Was A Puerto Rican, By Esmeralda Santiago
Question 1 Foreshadowing
I push my cart away, toward the apples and pears of my adulthood, their nearly seedless ripeness
predictable and bittersweet. This quote, and entire prologue, are taken from the memoir When I
was a Puerto Rican, by Esmeralda Santiago and they foreshadow that her whole life is changed,
just like the fruit she eats and that are in her life. Santiago life is totally turned around in this
memoir and the prologue shows that. The author weaves foreshadowing into the memoir by
showing us how her life changed dramatically and once she came to the United States everything
was different, just like fruit here in the United States and in Puerto Rico. The author uses the
technique of foreshadowing to give something to look forward to in her story and build suspense
and anticipation.
Santiago used foreshadowing to show that her life changed and that it changed a lot. Her life is
foreshadowed that it will change and that she lets her past go. Leaving her past in the past and
moving on with her present and future. Santiago s life was horrible growing up. Her parents did
not always get along, their home was not always safe, clean, and good for her and her family, they
were always moving, etc. After they moved to New York, a couple years later, her life was

you can see, she left her past in the past and went on with her amazing new life. When I was a

letter which is the center of all activity is both the crime (proof of infidelity) and root of the

Deductive Reasoning
Deductive Reasoning In order to fully understand deductive reasoning, there are certain points to be
noted. First, what is the nature of deductive reasoning? Logical strength is defined as the property
of an argument whose premises, if true provide support for its conclusion. Deductive and inductive
arguments are also distinguished based on the point that logical strength is a matter of degree. This
distinction makes it necessary to understand the nature of deductive reasoning. Therefore, deductive
arguments are those whose premises guarantee the truth of the conclusion, and inductive arguments
are those whose premises make it reasonable to accept the conclusion though do not absolutely
guarantee its truth. Deductive reasoning is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
В•The logical operators also play crucial part in telling precisely how the truth of the statement as a

that Keanu Reeves is gay. Negation the statement p is false is true when the component statement is

Before, going into this we need to look at the past discriminative policies adopted many companies,
responsible for many acts of discrimination against minorities. Menial and low level jobs were
offered to certain ethnic and minority groups. Even, woman was denied certain job categories on
the ground of strength and their capabilities. This discriminatory policy adopted for so many
decade has led to a situation where there cannot be a level playing field without taking certain
affirmative action. Thus short run violations of the rule are justified to create a more just
distribution of benefits. In order to make an effective policy, the supreme company should be able
to predict, as best it can, how many minorities and women it would select over time, without
adopting the policy of discrimination. These predictions would constitute the institution s
affirmative action in terms of goals (Anderson, 2002). It is for the supreme company to think in
the public interest by maintaining such policy. For example let us take a very apt example; A

who grows tomatoes. If the nation thinks a modest program of redistributing income is legitimate,
then it uses a social security payout formula that gives disproportionate return to low wage earners

advance in my career. Currently, at the core of my PLN would be my 2nd grade teaching team
that I work alongside daily. This is comprised of 4 other teachers; one an intervention specialist,
and other generalist teachers in 2nd grade. To expand this, our current building hosts
Kindergarten 5th grade, with at least 4 teachers in each grade level. I would also consider all of
these teachers, as well as support staff to be a part of my direct PLN. I attend meetings,
professional development and training with these individuals. I also connect with them on a daily
basis in regards to educating our students. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our district also receives updates and professional development through State Support Team 9
(SST9), and I would consider SST9 to be a part of my PLN as I have collaborated and networked
with other professionals in surrounding districts in meetings held by SST9. In regards to online
resources, I use a few websites for professional learning and networking. The first would be
Pinterest. I typically search Pinterest for classroom ideas, but also use this website on a personal
level. In conjunction with Pinterest, I use the website TeachersPayTeachers to purchase lesson
ideas and resources. The reason I feel that this website should be added to my PLN, is because all
of the sellers on TeachersPayTeachers typically have a teaching blog which I can search for ideas
as well. I would categorize Pinterest, TeachersPayTeachers, and teaching blogs into one cohort,
because typically searching through one of these mediums will lead me to another. Another online
resource I use professionally would be

Story Of An Hour And The Interlopers
All stories have emotions. But each story has a different way of showing emotion. The story of
an hour. by Kate Chopin and The Interlopers. by Saki are two such stories. In The story of an
hour. Mrs. Mallard recives news, from her sister, that her husband has died in a train wreck. You
would think that she would be upset but it is the oposite, she seems ecstatic. She later explains
that she is now free from her husbands control. When she abandoned herself a little whispered
word escaped her slightly parted lips. She said it over and over under hte breath: free, free, free!
Whereas in The Interlopers the two men, Georg Znaeym and Ulrich von Gradwitz, who have been
enemies since they were born, get trapped under a tree. While under the tree decide to become
friends.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each character deals with sadness. In The Interlopers. the two men are arguing in the forest when a
tree falls on them, trapping them. They later see their men coming towards them both exited to be
rescued they start yelling. Cheering as they run towards them they quickly realize that it is not their
men but wolves. Who are they? asked Georg quickly, straining his eyes to see what the other would
gladly not have seen.

Euclidean Distance
The Euclidean distance is measured by the measuring the distance between two points. (Paynich
Hill, 2014) He was concerned with where the child was shot and most of the fatal wounds were
to the head. These were usually shot at a distance. The Bethlehem study is based on a 17 year
old Christian Alsatian Johnny Thalijaya who was shot in front of his father in October of 2001
in Mayner Square. He was just yards from the church. He had a bag of rice in one hand and a
small nephew in the other. He was not armed. He did not present a danger to the Israeli military
encampment the outside of Bethlehem. He was shot twice in the chest and abdomen and died
instantly. The Euclidean distance was 968 meters from Hindaza hill to where he was shot,... Show

Tactical maps are usually used to predict a new crime in a series or spree or identify where the
suspects may live in a series of offense. With tactical mapping products you wait for the next
offense to happen to create a new map and prediction and help catch the offender. There are only
a few analyst across the country that ever do tactical analysis. This function seems to be
increasing but it does require the analyst to work very closely with the case detectives and that
relationship has to be nurtured over time. We could easily have a tactical set of what we call hot
spot could map to track a crime clusters, spree, series or patterns of crimes that was originally
identified at the administrative level. The person making the map needs to remember the purpose
of the map and that the map is readable after spending the time on the map. Also that the map
displays what the creator is trying to convey. Different people may use different maps for different
reason. As long as the map conveys what it needs to over a short period of time that is all that is
really important. Paynich, R., Hill, B. (2014). Fundamentals of crime mapping (2nd Ed.).

Jones Blair Company Essay
Pontificia Universidad CatГіlica de Chile Facultad de AdministraciГіn AnГЎlisis Caso Jones Blair
Company Fecha: 9 Abril 2008 Caso Jones Blair Company Jones Blair Company comercializa
preferentemente sus pinturas y artГculos varios relacionados en el estado de Texas. En este estado
atiende tanto el ГЎrea metropolitana de Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) como tambiГ©n al resto de las
ГЎreas rurales del estado.
Show more content on

publicidad podrГa no dar resultado.
publicidad finalmente compra

The March On Washington For Jobs And Freedom
Faith is taking the first step even when you don t see the whole staircase.
On Wednesday, August 28th in the year 1963, a historical first step was taken at the Washington
Monument in our nation s capital. This first step, taken by one nameless American, signaled the
beginning of an event that shaped the nation, perhaps even the world;
The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. This march was organized by civil rights
activists who shared a common objective: the social and economic equality of Americans. One such
activist was the educated and charismatic Martin Luther King Jr., whose iconic I Have a Dream
speech marked the culmination of the event. His poignant speech is credited with the subsequent
passage of the Civil Rights and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a student preparing to study law and perhaps politics, this event speaks to me particularly. To
be half the activist and orator that King was would be amazing, and I aspire to be as influential as
he is in the world of United States politics. I think that if I was allowed the opportunity to witness
the march, one of the largest and arguably most influential in America s history, I would be
further inspired to embark on the pathway toward a political career. Although this protest was not
an official effort by the United State s government itself, I believe events like this are what make
the foundation of our government. Our government should stay true to a reflection of the people s
values and beliefs, and this march forced the government to stay true to it s people in the best way
possible. The leaders of this march were people who shaped political history as well, and continue
to do so. For example, John Lewis was, at the time of the March on Washington, a chairman of the
Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. Today, half a century later, he is an active member of
the House of Representatives. Did John Lewis know that this march would cement his place in the
halls of history for centuries to come? Attending this march was so powerful it shaped the course
of people s lives. If I got the chance to witness it, would that give me the inspiration to

Hong Kong Roswell Research Paper
In 1947 Walter Haut, a public information officer for the Roswell army air field, issued a press
release that military personnel had recovered a flying disc that had crashed near a ranch near
Roswell. However, the Military later informed the public that the object was not a flying disc ,
but a weather balloon. The story was nearly forgotten until the late 1970 s, when UFO
researchers began interviewing people affiliated with the Roswell incident, and recovering
documents. They came to the conclusion that a UFO did crash at the ranch near Roswell, alien
bodies were recovered by the military, and there was a cover up in place. Then books, movies,
and television episodes were created that talked about what happened near Roswell, and polls
showed that a large number of people believed that an alien spacecraft did crash in Roswell. In
response to the allegations made by UFO researchers, the U.S government released a report in
1994 explaining that the weather balloon that crashed in Roswell was from Project Mogul, a top
secret military program where microphones were flown on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However, if this object was a soviet spy plane, most of the technology would be way ahead of its

The plane that crashed could also looked like the witnesses idea of a UFO. The top secret soviet
aircraft could of been an in winged aircraft such as the prototypes of the german Horten aircraft.
There was new jet engine technology used in many of the Horten aircraft, so a silver Soviet

Main Themes Of The Prince By Machiavelli
1. Machiavelli wrote The Prince because he wanted to give Lorenzo The Magnificent, a book that
highlights major keys to being a Prince and being one efficiently. Also, The Prince was written
because to gain endeavor by the prince it is customary to give him something a person holds most
valuable, Machiavelli held his knowledge most valuable.
2. The way Governments are Established and Held , is a theme in The Prince. Machiavelli says, The
dominions thus acquired have either been previously accustomed to the rule of another prince, or
else have been free states, and they are annexed either by force of arms of the prince himself, or
of other, or else fall to him by good fortune or special ability. , he then further explains this topic
in the next nine chapters. Another one of the major themes is War . Machiavelli explains how to
use the methods of offense and defense in a war if a princes foundation is stable for four chapters.
Finally, Reputation is a theme of The Prince. Throughout the last twelve chapters Machiavelli
explains how you should act to keep in favor of your citizens.
3. The role of armies is to maintain its country s defense through fortifications. This ensures security
and stops enemies from attacking a prince s country.
4. Machiavelli s advice is more realistic. He writes the real truth of the matter than to its
imagination , compared to other writers that have, have imagined republics and principalities which
have never been seen or known to exist in reality .
5. Machiavelli says it is better for a prince to be both feared and loved, because men will love at
free will and fear at the will of their prince, but a prince must rely solely on his power that he
already has. It is possible for a prince to be both. A prince could show love by giving constant
support for many of the citizens of his country, but should also be feared because he should give
consequences to citizens who do not follow the rules of the country.
6. Conspiracy, a prince should not worry about conspiracies when people are well, but when
people are hostile, he should fear conspiracies. Merit, a prince should show merit, and honor those
who excel. Goodness, a prince should gain

  • 2. Essay Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is the most frequent cause of death between 1 month and 1 year of age (Naeye). SIDS is defined as the sudden death of any infant or young child that is unexpected by it s history, and in which a thorough postmortem examination fails to determine an adequate cause (Hunt 1987). It is important to consider both aspects of this definition in order not to overdiagnose SIDS. A mistake of this nature would occur with failure to report a previous history of seizures, or if at the time of the autopsy a differentiation between suffocation due to rebreathing and SIDS was not made (Kemp 1993). One of the major characteristics of SIDS is that of silent death , which occurs during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... to determine if the nucleus of the hypoglossal nerve and the nucleus of the vagus nerve showed any abnormalities in SIDS patients. These structures were chosen because it is thought that some victims may have their airway blocked by their tongue during sleep (the hypoglossal is known to control tongue movements), or that possibly cardiac arrhythmia s may be the cause of SIDS death (due to the vagus nerve) (Naeye). It was found that there were fewer neurons in the hypoglossal nerve nuclei of SIDS victims with abnormally small carotid bodies. This could in fact be an explanation for the obstruction of the airway by the tongue during obstructive apnea (Naeye). An explanation of why there were fewer neurons was not given. The human brain is not fully developed at birth (Kopp 1992). This plays a role in the aspect of certain neurotransmitters which are vital to the human body. It has been demonstrated that in a normal central nervous system, serotonin declines as well as norepinephrine in the first few months after birth (Becker 1990). In a study conducted by Hilaire et al., it was postulated that increased levels of serotonin might be involved in obstructive apnea, leading to SIDS (Hilaire 1992). The reasoning for this was that serotonin depresses the hypoglossal respiratory output. The results did in fact cause lethal apneas of newborn rats which were injected with L tryptophan thereby stimulating serotonin synthesis. There has also been evidence that ... Four days later, the strom moved on to the Gulf of Mexico and strengthened to be a category 3 hurricane. On August 29 it hit Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana and New Orleans, as a category 5 hurricane. The natural disaster brought 125 miles per hour winds, huge waves, flooding and enormous surges. 80 percent of the city was underwater and there were billions of gallons of water in New Orleans. He had a history of bouncing back and forth between politics and the military. Nominated by Andrew Jackson s Democratic Party for the U.S. House of Representatives, Houston won the election by getting 100% of the votes. Not uncommon for politicians in the time period, Sam Houston badly wounded General William A. White in a duel fought 6 miles south of Franklin, Kentucky. Soon after, in 1827 Sam was elected Governor of Tennessee, replacing two term Governor William Carrol. Two years later he married his first wife, Eliza Allen, an 18 year old daughter of a plantation owner. • 16. Teenagers Vs Teenagers Off the top of your head you may think life as a teenager is about the same no matter what generation you are from, but that is not the case. Although there are definitely similarities, there are many differences. A teen from the late eighty s, my parents generation, would feel a little awkward living as a teen in 2017, my generation, and vice versa. Things like ways of communicating, fashion, and moneyin my generation are very different than they were during my parents generation. Zip click click click click. Zip click click click click. That was the sound my parents landlines made as they dialed their friends phone numbers. Communication in the eighty s was much different than it is today. They couldn t just send quick texts to whoever they wanted to whenever they wanted to like we can. If they wanted to call and talk to someone, they had to be somewhere where they had access to a phone and couldn t move very far. When they wanted to ask their friend across the classroom about their plans after school, rather than pulling out their cell phone, they would write down a note on a piece of paper. Similar to other small towns, you will find the town office on the busiest street in town the main street. On February 22, 2016, I attended a public meeting in Bruno s town office. The public meeting was a town of Bruno regular monthly council meeting. I planned on staying as long as it took for me to get the information I needed on policy and how the council made decisions. On one issue they were all clear, quick and on the same page. On the other issues discussed they were scattered. There was no one leader of the decision; there were multiple leaders for a discussion at different times. Therefore, as an observer, this was extremely difficult to follow along. Bruno council did follow shared decision making and a strategic planning approach. Even though they used the majority of the steps, the discussion could have been more formally approached. However, you can take into consideration this council represents a small population. The support for this approach consists of reform minded policy makers and leaders, which is hard to come by in a smaller community. These individuals that were sitting at the table are knowledgeable individuals. However, they do not enable the experiences broader sectors do. Even though, Bruno council lacks the broader spectrum, they do practice one of the most important benefits of policy making, shared learning. The first thing on the agenda was revising the employee code of conduct and conflict of interest policy. The administrator asked if everyone read the code of conduct and the policy, some of the council said no. One councillor then asked what the objection to the policy was. Vaccinations: The Right to Choose Is requiring vaccinations overstepping the bounds of our right to make our own medical choices for ourselves as well as for our children? Or, is it safe and necessary for the greater good to prevent deadly diseases? Are those who choose not to vaccinate themselves or their children putting the rest of the population at risk? Where should the line, if any, be drawn? Why are more and more people using exemptions to vaccinations? How safe and effective are vaccinations? I will share important information on both sides of the issue to help you decide the answers to these questions. Currently, all fifty U.S. states offer a medical exemption from vaccinations. This means that someone could be exempt from receiving one or all of the vaccines based on medical necessity. For example, those who have compromised or weakened immune systems should be able to get a medical exemption. These exemptions require permission from a medical physician and getting them is difficult as most doctors in the mainstream medical community support and encourage vaccinations. There are two other types of exemptions religious and philosophical. As of October 2016, three states California, West Virginia, and Mississippi do not offer either of these. They are medical exemption states only. Of the remaining states, 32 of them offer medical and religious exemptions. Only the remaining 18 states offer all three exemptions. • 19. A Woman s Best Quality Eggs A woman is at her most fertile when she is in the ages 20 to 24. Infertility is generally defined as the inability to conceive after one year of unprotected sex. At the age of 30 fertility starts to gradually decline, the chance of successfully conceiving each cycle drops from 22% to just 6 to 8% between 30 and 40 years of age. This big drop in fertility is due to the ageing of a female s eggs. When born women have around a million eggs, by the time they reach their mid thirties this number will have dropped to around 25,000. Unfortunately, a woman s best quality eggs will likely have been used up when younger, meaning the ones left over are of a worse quality and therefore less fertile. Women also release fewer eggs when they get older. In terms of successful IVF treatment (which is more often used by older women), for women under 35 years the success rate is around 27%, but for women over 40 years old that drops to as low as 6%. The graph to the left shows the general trend in the drop in fertility, backing up what was said earlier, and further backed up by Benjamin Younger, the executive director of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. He states that fertility continues to decline after the age of 35 but takes a nosedive at the age of 38. Clearly fertility is something to be worried about, and looking at these stats it is well worth getting pregnant younger in order to have a better chance of getting pregnant and also having good quality eggs still. Scenario Of A School Counselor The role of a school counselor is to successfully reach the child where they are and to find ways that will help benefit them to succeed no matter what comes their way. As a counselor it is important to use methods and techniques that work best in the situation that is presented as well as what works best for that student. It takes careful consideration on which direction to go when counseling students as all students are not the same and everyone handles things different. The focus of the counselor is to provide guidance, support and direction for all students. In the following scenarios we see two very different situations that need to be addressed in very different ways. The first scenario is a young boy, named Steven. He has been in three different foster care homes, and two different schools and is currently in 1st grade, he was pulled from his previous school where his sibling still go. The teacher complains of his behavior, lack of focus and disruption to the rest of the class. The teacher has referred Steven to the counselor to get him further help in managing his classroom behavior. The second Scenario is a young girl in ninth grade, named Abby. Although there was past cases of school shootings, this was the first shooting to be televised on national television of its magnitude (Taining, P et al., 2014). A mass murderer is defined as someone who slaughters many people at one time. This particular incident unfortunately was not the slaughter of people, but it was children. It happened around 11:40 AM on January 17th, 1989 in Stockton, California. A man by the name of Patrick Edward Purdy opened fire on children ages six through nine playing at recess on school grounds of Cleveland Elementary School. This tragic case brought questions to people everywhere in our nation as to why it was so easy for a mentally unstable individual such as Patrick Purdy to enter a gun store and purchase a semiautomatic weapon ( Slaughter in a, 2001). By applying our approach to the Anderson model we consider the effects of nonlocal correlations and typical environment beyond the local Blackman, Esterling, and Berk (BEB) method. %coherent potential approximation. Our formalism allows us to systematically study the effects of off diagonal disorder on the phase diagram of traditional three dimensional Anderson model. Disorder which is inevitably present in most real materials can drammatically affect their properties~cite{Lee_RevModPhys,Belitz_RevModPhys}. It can lead to changes of their structure and transport. One of the most prominent effects of disorder is the spacial confinement of charge carriers known as Anderson localization ~cite{Anderson}. The simplest model used to study these disorder effects is the Anderson model which is a single band tight binding model with a random on site disorder potential. Such a model is justified when the introduction of disorder in, for example a binary alloy by substitution of host atoms by impurities, does not affect the neighbors and leads to the change of the local potential on the substitution site only. In this situation the disorder appears only in the diagonal terms of the Hamiltonian and hence is referred to as diagonal disorder (DD) case. The 2018 Humanities Faire will be Colonial America. Going into the Faire, it is important to know all of the aspects and have an overview of what the Faire is going to focus on. Colonial America is often viewed as just the 13 original English colonies, but often people leave out the fact that there were already French, Spanish, Dutch, and other groups of people in America. That is an important factor to America, along with Great Britain and what happened there to cause people to voyage over to America. The way the leaders have been set up in the past two fairs have worked really well. Having two seniors or a senior with a junior has made each group and the overall goal succeed. Keeping the senior as a group leader is wise because they have the most Faire experience and knowledge. Having that second senior or junior is great help for more guidance and helps make the Faire become more of a success and supported. The way they should be paired is by looking at the strengths and weaknesses of each senior/junior and deciding who would work best together to make the project a great achievement. Santiago life is totally turned around in this memoir and the prologue shows that. The author weaves foreshadowing into the memoir by showing us how her life changed dramatically and once she came to the United States everything was different, just like fruit here in the United States and in Puerto Rico. The author uses the technique of foreshadowing to give something to look forward to in her story and build suspense and anticipation. The letter which is the center of all activity is both the crime (proof of infidelity) and root of the criminal act (its theft). The thief of the letter holds ascendancy and power using blackmail as his method, thus throwing the natural order of things out of balance. Good must triumph over evil, but who s good? The clear and coherent line between good and evil becomes dark and foggy, and blur just as the smoke that filled the apartment. Consequently, the foreseen main battle which emerges of dueling wit between the deductive detective and the clever thief, provide our hero and villain? Delving deeper into the work it s painstakingly clear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Deductive Reasoning Deductive Reasoning In order to fully understand deductive reasoning, there are certain points to be noted. First, what is the nature of deductive reasoning? Logical strength is defined as the property of an argument whose premises, if true provide support for its conclusion. Deductive and inductive arguments are also distinguished based on the point that logical strength is a matter of degree. This distinction makes it necessary to understand the nature of deductive reasoning. Therefore, deductive arguments are those whose premises guarantee the truth of the conclusion, and inductive arguments are those whose premises make it reasonable to accept the conclusion though do not absolutely guarantee its truth. Deductive reasoning is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... В•The logical operators also play crucial part in telling precisely how the truth of the statement as a whole is determined by the truth values of its component statements. They also define the different kinds of truth functional statement as explained above. Four kinds of truth functions: 1.It is false that Keanu Reeves is gay. Negation the statement p is false is true when the component statement is false and false when the component statement is true 2.Manny Pacquiao is the world s featherweight champion and he has not been defeated so far. Conjunction В– true if and only if both statements are true and false it both is false or either one is false 3.Either he stole it or somebody else stole it. Disjunction В– true when either one of the components is true or if both are true, it is false when both are false В•It is to note that disjunction is to be considered among complex statements. Consider the example, either Mac did it or Bud it. This statement will still be grammatically correct if written as either Mac or Bud did it but this perhaps is merely a simple statement containing compound subjects. В•It is also important to note that in a disjunctive truth function the two disjuncts are exhaustive but not exclusive. This means that the disjuncts cannot be both false (exhaustive) but both may be true (not exclusive). 4.If one commits homicide then he must be imprisoned. Implication В– if p then q; the first component is called the antecedent, the second ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Affirmative Actions Running Head: AFFERMATIVE ACTION Affirmative Actions Affirmative action is an action taken by an organization to select on the basis of race, gender, or ethnicity by giving due preferences to minorities like women and races being not adequately represented under the existing employment. To make the presentation of all these compositions almost equal in proportion to do away the injustice done in the past. Affirmative action is not free from controversies. It is one of the issues in the country, which has raked most controversies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before, going into this we need to look at the past discriminative policies adopted many companies, responsible for many acts of discrimination against minorities. Menial and low level jobs were offered to certain ethnic and minority groups. Even, woman was denied certain job categories on the ground of strength and their capabilities. This discriminatory policy adopted for so many decade has led to a situation where there cannot be a level playing field without taking certain affirmative action. Thus short run violations of the rule are justified to create a more just distribution of benefits. In order to make an effective policy, the supreme company should be able to predict, as best it can, how many minorities and women it would select over time, without adopting the policy of discrimination. These predictions would constitute the institution s affirmative action in terms of goals (Anderson, 2002). It is for the supreme company to think in the public interest by maintaining such policy. For example let us take a very apt example; A Michigan farmer who grows sugar beets is relevantly different from his neighbor across the road who grows tomatoes. If the nation thinks a modest program of redistributing income is legitimate, then it uses a social security payout formula that gives disproportionate return to low wage earners over ... PLN Reflection When looking at the scope of my personal learning network (PLN) I am realizing that it is much larger than I initially thought, however I do feel it could and will grow exponentially as I advance in my career. Currently, at the core of my PLN would be my 2nd grade teaching team that I work alongside daily. This is comprised of 4 other teachers; one an intervention specialist, and other generalist teachers in 2nd grade. To expand this, our current building hosts Kindergarten 5th grade, with at least 4 teachers in each grade level. I would also consider all of these teachers, as well as support staff to be a part of my direct PLN. I attend meetings, professional development and training with these individuals. I typically search Pinterest for classroom ideas, but also use this website on a personal level. In conjunction with Pinterest, I use the website TeachersPayTeachers to purchase lesson ideas and resources. The reason I feel that this website should be added to my PLN, is because all of the sellers on TeachersPayTeachers typically have a teaching blog which I can search for ideas as well. On Wednesday, August 28th in the year 1963, a historical first step was taken at the Washington Monument in our nation s capital. This first step, taken by one nameless American, signaled the beginning of an event that shaped the nation, perhaps even the world; The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. This march was organized by civil rights activists who shared a common objective: the social and economic equality of Americans. One such activist was the educated and charismatic Martin Luther King Jr., whose iconic I Have a Dream speech marked the culmination of the event. His poignant speech is credited with the subsequent passage of the Civil Rights and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a student preparing to study law and perhaps politics, this event speaks to me particularly. To be half the activist and orator that King was would be amazing, and I aspire to be as influential as he is in the world of United States politics. I think that if I was allowed the opportunity to witness the march, one of the largest and arguably most influential in America s history, I would be further inspired to embark on the pathway toward a political career. Although this protest was not an official effort by the United State s government itself, I believe events like this are what make the foundation of our government. Our government should stay true to a reflection of the people s values and beliefs, and this march forced the government to stay true to it s people in the best way possible. The leaders of this march were people who shaped political history as well, and continue to do so. For example, John Lewis was, at the time of the March on Washington, a chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. Today, half a century later, he is an active member of the House of Representatives. Did John Lewis know that this march would cement his place in the halls of history for centuries to come? Attending this march was so powerful it shaped the course of people s lives. If I got the chance to witness it, would that give me the inspiration to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hong Kong Roswell Research Paper In 1947 Walter Haut, a public information officer for the Roswell army air field, issued a press release that military personnel had recovered a flying disc that had crashed near a ranch near Roswell. However, the Military later informed the public that the object was not a flying disc , but a weather balloon. The story was nearly forgotten until the late 1970 s, when UFO researchers began interviewing people affiliated with the Roswell incident, and recovering documents. They came to the conclusion that a UFO did crash at the ranch near Roswell, alien bodies were recovered by the military, and there was a cover up in place. Then books, movies, and television episodes were created that talked about what happened near Roswell, and polls showed that a large number of people believed that an alien spacecraft did crash in Roswell. Machiavelli wrote The Prince because he wanted to give Lorenzo The Magnificent, a book that highlights major keys to being a Prince and being one efficiently. Also, The Prince was written because to gain endeavor by the prince it is customary to give him something a person holds most valuable, Machiavelli held his knowledge most valuable. 2. The way Governments are Established and Held , is a theme in The Prince. Machiavelli says, The dominions thus acquired have either been previously accustomed to the rule of another prince, or else have been free states, and they are annexed either by force of arms of the prince himself, or of other, or else fall to him by good fortune or special ability. , he then further explains this topic in the next nine chapters. Another one of the major themes is War . Machiavelli explains how to use the methods of offense and defense in a war if a princes foundation is stable for four chapters. Finally, Reputation is a theme of The Prince. Throughout the last twelve chapters Machiavelli explains how you should act to keep in favor of your citizens. 3. The role of armies is to maintain its country s defense through fortifications. This ensures security and stops enemies from attacking a prince s country. 4. Machiavelli s advice is more realistic. He writes the real truth of the matter than to its imagination , compared to other writers that have, have imagined republics and principalities which have never been seen or known to exist in reality . 5. Machiavelli says it is better for a prince to be both feared and loved, because men will love at free will and fear at the will of their prince, but a prince must rely solely on his power that he already has. It is possible for a prince to be both. A prince could show love by giving constant support for many of the citizens of his country, but should also be feared because he should give consequences to citizens who do not follow the rules of the country. 6.
