Old Spice Ad Analysis
television advertisement companies, main intention is to captivate the audience in other to
purchase their product that they are portraying. In this essay, I will be analyzing these two ads,
Whale (Old Spice) and Susan Glenn (Axe). These ads are formulated to get their products noticed,
along with sparking the interest of the other goods they may offer. Countless methods are used to
convince the audiencethat s being targeted to buy the product. Therefore, these ads are similar in its
ability to gain the attention of their audiences by appealing to pathos. Through this essay I will
analyze the rhetorical effects that help bring these commercials to life. In the Old Spice... Show

The commercial also tries to appeal to middle class people as the spray is inexpensive and smells
good. While, relating to the middle class individuals it also seems to portray of regular looking
people. This therefore, makes the commercial look natural and realistic to the viewer, while
attracting their attention. The framing of the image directs your attention to Susan Glenn , as if
she was the only character in the commercial. The lighting around it predict her as if she was an
angel, and no one was better than her. For example, in the ad she is seen floating across the
street with firework sparks around her, like a light to a shadow. You can tell the love that he had
for her, especially when he says, not a girl, but the girl . The bathroom scene at the end with the
narrator, displays a feeling of sadness around it, as well him also being alone. The saddening
feeling at the end of the commercial where the narrator is in his bathroom, is an indirect way of
appealing to pathos in this commercial. As an audience, you feel sorry for him, missing his chance
with Susan Glenn . Therefore, of course you don t want the same thing to happen to you and miss
the girl of your dream because you don t smell good, from not

Hiroshima And The Atomic Bomb
On August 6th, 1945, the United States of America dropped the atomic bomb in Hiroshima,
Japan. This bomb decimated over two hundred thousand Japanese citizens, and caused the
Empire of Japan to surrender ending World War II. In his book Hiroshima, John Heresy reveals
the stories of six survivors, and how their lives were changed following the bombing. As you
might expect, the time succeeding the attack was rather hectic. Even more so for physicians and
nurses, as thousands of people were rushing towards them for medical assistance. Two
physicians, Dr. Masakazu Fujii, and Dr. Terufumi Sasaki, have survived to tell their stories. Dr.
Fujii ran a hospital that overlooked a river. When the bomb exploded, Dr. Fujii was blown off
his feet and landed in the water along with the remnants of his hospital. Dr. Sasaki was much
luckier than Dr. Fujii, because he remained uninjured and immediately started caring for those
close to him. At the time the bomb exploded, Reverend Mr. Kiyoshi Tanimoto is helping a friend
move his daughter s belongings and Father Wilhelm Kleinsorge, who was recently suffering
from a stomach illness, was resting on his porch. Mrs. Hatsuyo Nakamura had three children,
and when the bomb exploded, she was looking out the window. She gathers her children from
the wreckage, and takes them to Asano Park, which was designed for use as an evacuation area.
Miss Toshiko Sasaki is a clerk, and when the bomb exploded, was at her office. Debris landed on

U.s. R And D Industrial Policy
U.S. R D Industrial Policy While the United States touts free market policies as main guiding
principles, U.S. policy makers have actively used research and development (R D) industrial
policies to maintain and grow the U.S. economy. There are two types of R D, also known as
research and experimentation (R E), funding models; one is direct federal research dollars given to
industry, typically for basic research, and the other in the use of taxcredits for R D activities. Tax
credit policies began in 1981 as part of the Economic Recovery Tax Act (Talley, 2011). The U.S.
has long funded R D, however this funding has steadily decreased with the total in 1976 of just
over 1.2% of GDP with dropping below .8% of GDP in 2014 (AAAS, 2014a). As of 2013, South
Korea, Finland, Japan, Taiwan, and Germany all outspend the U.S. on direct R D funding relative
to GDP (AAAS, 2014b). The IMF and OECD indicate that R D tax credits are a main growth
strategy for the G 20 nations (IMF, 2014). This research topics explores how the United States
domestic industrial policies supporting research and development influence business and
entrepreneurial behaviors within the U.S., which industries has this benefited the most, overall
societal impacts of advancements in technology and automation, and finally how this supports
comparative advantage for the United States as well as implications for developing nations. The
U.S. Congress has funded the R D tax credit on a continual

Essay on Abstinence-Only Sex Education does work.
Abstinence only Sex Education does work.
Teenage sexual activity has sparked an outcry within the nation. With such activity comes a high
price. Studies have shown that there has been a significant rise in the number of children with
sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), emotional and psychological problems, and out of wedlock
childbearing. Sex has always been discussed publically by the media, television shows, music and
occasionally by parents and teachers in educational context. Teens hear them, and as the saying
goes, monkey see, monkey do , they are tempted to experiment with it. Therefore, it is important for
every teenager to be aware of the outcome associated with premature sex. If students are educated

Programs that encourage abstinence have become a vital part of school systems in the US. These
programs are usually referred to as abstinence only or value based programs while other programs
are called as safer sex, comprehensive, secular or abstinence plus programs which on the contrary
promote the usage of effective contraception. Although abstinence only and safer sex programs
disagree with one another, their core values and stand on the aims of sex education is to help teens
develop problem solving skills and the skill of good decision making. They believe that
adolescents will be better prepared to act responsibly in the heat of the moment (Silva). Most
programs that have been currently implemented in the US have seen a delay in the initiation of sex
among teens which proves to be a positive and desirable outcome (Silva).
Statistics from recent studies suggest that only 13% of U.S. teens have ever had sex by the age of
15. But by the age of 19, seven in ten teens of both sexes have had sex. Between 1995 and 2006
2008, the percentage of teens aged 15 17 who had ever engaged in sexual intercourse declined from
38% to 28%. Among teens aged 18 19, it declined from 68% in 1995 to 60% in 2006 2008. The
pregnancy rate among young women has declined steadily from 117 pregnancies per 1,000 women
aged 15 19 in 1990 to 70 per 1,000 in 2005. However in 2006, the rate increased for the first time in

Determination of Redusing Sugar Using Dns Method
1.0ABSTRACT The production of reducing sugars by acid of carbohydrate cereals powder, jams
(total sugar content) and jams (reducing sugar content) were performed in order to study reducing
sugar production. The study involved hydrolysis carbohydrate cereals powder and jams by
immersing in boiling water at environmental temperature. Acid hydrolysis was carried out through
reflux boiling for 20 minutes with 10ml 0f 1.5M concentrations of diluted sulphuric acid. Reducing
sugars concentrations were determined by spectrophotometry using the 3, 5 dinitrosalicylic acid
(DNS) method. The first sample was operated as blank for zero. The stock solution was prepared in

The above reaction scheme shows that one mole of sugar will react with one mole of 3,5
dinitrosalicylic acid. However, it is suspected that there are many side reactions, and the actual
reaction stoichiometry is more complicated than that previously described. The type of side
reaction depends on the exact nature of the reducing sugars.
Different reducing sugars generally yield different color intensities; thus, it is necessary to calibrate
for each sugar. In addition to the oxidation of the carbonyl groups in the sugar, other side reactions
such as the decomposition of sugar also compete for the availability of 3,5 dinitrosalicylic acid(http:
//www.ehow.com/about_5244996_general use dinitrosalicylic acid.html). As a consequence,
carboxymethyl cellulose can affect the calibration curve by enhancing the intensity of the
developed color. Although this is a convenient and relatively inexpensive method, due to the
relatively low specificity, one must run blanks diligently if the colorimetric results are to be
interpreted

Plenty Of Wild West Analysis
The second main weakness that is found in Global Americans is that it does not elaborate on how
the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show wrongfully portrayed Native Americans as dangerous or the
impact it had on the viewers. Global Americans makes a brief mention that Cody portrayed Indians
as victorious, but does not explain in what sense; primary sources, on the other side, illustrate that in
the show Indians were portrayed as savages that needed to be civilized. Although the roles that
Natives played were dramatized, they were concurrent with the perception American society and the
government perpetuated. This is illustrated by the article Plenty of Wild West Enthusiasm, from the
Washington Post, that describes how Indians ambushed a carriage

be bought off, but King Swein of Denmark and his new fleet was not offered this same deal and

King Swein of Denmark and his new fleet had not. What happened during 1070 and 1071 could
be consider fact as it could legend. It is know that William made two different attempts both
unsuccessful, either in person or through a lieutenant to take Isle Ely where Hereward and his
forces were based. We also know that Hereward did not fear to pay for his Danish allies.
Hereward paid the Danish to sack the Peterborough and its Cathedral, which was now controlled
by the Norman Bishop. What it is still up to debate is how thing exact happenings, nor the
sequence of events. Eventually Swein, maybe seeing himself in a no win situation, gave the offer
to be paid off. The Normanssoon took Ely after the betrayal of the local monks secret causeways

escaped and, with loyal followers, remained a nuisance to king William for many more years to

Additional Research Report
The Future of Fiber Optics
I. What is Fiber Optics? Fiber optic technology is often discussed in a wide range of
conversations. This may be when people talk about TVs, phones, internet, or general technology.
Fiber optics may also be referred to when talking about light and optics. An optical fiber is defined
as a flexible, transparent fiber made by drawing glass (silica) or plastic to a diameter slightly
thicker than that of human hair (Wikipedia). These fibers are used as a means of light
transmission from one end of the fiber to the other end of the fiber and this is referred to as fiber
optic communications. These fibers are quite technologically advanced because they have the
ability to transmit more data and at a quicker rate than normal cables made of wire. There is also
much less lost data when using fiber optic technology. Clearly, the benefits of fiber optics are
much greater than traditional wired cables. Fiber optic cables are also used for the purpose of
lighting and sensing. There are already many practical applications of the technology such as lasers,
but these applications are just the beginning of the potential of this powerful technology.
II. How was Fiber Optics Discovered? Fiber optics as we know it today has been the result of a
long chain of inventions that all began with John Tyndall s 1854 discover that light can be
conducted through water and bent. Later in 1895, a

Marketing Strategy Of Maggi
Maggie was launched in India as a 2 minute noodle brand in 1983 when Indian consumers were
quite conservative about their food habits and preferred traditional Indian food over canned or
packaged food. Today, India is one of the fastest growing market for snack and Maggie was
estimated to have 70% share in the market. It almost doubled its size from 2010(2940 million
units) to 2014(5340 million units). It contributed 30% to the NestlГ© s 9000 crore annual
turnover. Starting off as a snack for children, Maggie quickly expanded its consumer base to
include students and young professionals and was even available in the most inaccessible parts of
India. The advertisements of Maggie became so popular that the tagline of bas 2 minute instantly

Taste of Maggi was of the form that was both new and familiar and one of the most important
factor in its success was it made possible for everyone to cook up something delicious quickly. It
was widely accepted as an alternative snack for college students bored from the regular mess
food or single working professionals living in the busiest cities of India. It gave mothers a tool to
quench hunger of children and also acted as a reward for children after doing something good.
Mothers always knew that it wasn t the healthiest food around but they tend to rationalise the
argument by adding their own special ingredients like vegetables which were frowned upon by
children but were easily consumed as part of Maggi. There were many recipes apart from the
general two minute one to match the snack to diverse tastes of India. The dishes ranged from
Maggi sandwiches to Maggi cutlets. The company also launched many variants in its product line
like Maggi soup and a healthy substitute, Atta

It s Not Difficult to Hack the System
It s not difficult to hack the system is what you hear from multiple professionals that work in the
energy security profession. A study found by University of Maryland department of engineering
there is a hacker attack every thirty nine seconds, affecting one in three Americans each year.[1]
This data was published in 2007 and has increased in the past decade. When Americans think of a
cyber attack, one would think of it being financial attack such as stolen credit card information.
What if cyber criminals took control of the power grid? The threat is real however and within 2011
to 2014 there were 362 known targeted cyber attacks against the ... Show more content on

This cost the economy from 6.5 10.8 billion of dollars with over a hundred fatalities in the
hospitals due to lack of power.[5]
With technology corporations knowing the risks involved with cyber attacks, research and
innovation have taken steps to prevent this apocalyptic scenario from happening again. The
Department of Energy has created localized grids that are normally connected to our traditional
grid, but has the option to be disconnected to support reliability and resiliency.[6] Microgrids use
advanced smart grid technologies and integrate distributed energy resources.[4] At time, they can
be used when there is a severe outage to offer local regions with reliable power even when a
physical or cyber threat occurs.[4]
Since we already have the technology to build a grid that is more resilient and less of a target for
adversaries, all Americans need to push for this to remain a priority and find ways to support
legislation for a rebuilding of the infrastructure system. With companies such as Intel who are in the
energy and security sectors but also researching artificial intelligence and self automated vehicles
and robots, there is a possibility that a rebuilding of the infrastructure system is plausible. With
individuals boarding millions of dollars into creating smart cities who knows what opportunities can
occur. As of this writing, just

The Tao, Te Tao
Through religion adherents are enabled to fulfill our need to search for and find meaning within
our own lives. Many religions help to provide its followers with this fulfillment through the
principal beliefs, which are held as sacred. Followers of Daoism follow traditions based on
philosophy and connectedness to nature and the world around us. Through this Daoists are enabled
to forge a strong bond with the world around them, using it to empower them, this then allows for
the followers to feel fulfillment in their lives as they strive to attain inner peace and immortality.
Daoism revolves around our interaction with Tao and the flow of Chi. The Tao (otherwise known
as the way) can be described as the order of the universe affecting everything throughout life.
Humans cannot understand the Tao and its working throughout the universe. The Tao manifests
itself within our world in many different forms, it is found within nature, the world and the
universe. The Tao Te Chingwritten by Laozi describes the Tao as The Tao that can be spoken of
is not the constant Tao; The name that can be named Is not the constant Name. (Tao Te Ching
Chapter 1) Another description of the Tao comes from the sage Chuang Tzu who defines the Tao
as The way is to man as rivers and lakes are to fish, the natural condition of life. (www.bbc.co.uk.)
From this we can see how the Tao is a concept that cannot be understood, it is a part of the
supernatural world transcending anything that we can

Effects Of Corporal Punishment
Corporal punishment affects a person s self esteem. Corporal punishment can negatively affect the
parent and the child, leaving them wondering the level of love from their parents. Corporal
punishment is illegal in some places, Some countries don t allow and even punish those who allow
corporal punishment. A parent could go to jail for spankingtheir child, hitting their children with
belts, flyswatters, paddles, ect. Corporal punishmentcan sometimes be very unnecessary, Not every
bad behavior needs to involve corporal punishment . It might be enough to have a serious
conversation with the child for them to see what they did wrong. When you start to give
teachers and other people who are not the parents the ability to punish a child so harshly, then
people can begin to abuse this power, and some usually do, in this society if you give an inch,
they take a mile There is no true way to determine if a child truly deserved the punishment or if it
was simply because a teacher was frustrated or fed up. That is because most of the time corporal
punishment is given based on opinion. Another big problem with corporal punishment by others
other than the parent is, what if the child gets injured, who is responsible? The parent, the person
who did the punishment, or no one? Another problem is, violence promotes more violence which
is bad, violence can get kids in more trouble in a different way with someone else, they will think
what they re doing is perfectly fine because their

American Nation Research Paper
The U.S. has been a melting pot since the beginning of time. Since Christopher Columbus
discovered America different nations such as the British, French, Africa, Mexico, American
Indians, and other countries have occupied this nation. Fortunately, overall as a nation we have
been able to live in America and still be able to practice our cultures. Although, some people have
biases against others beliefs, values, and norms the majority of Americans respect others rights.
This is why America is one of the most hated and respected nations in the world. America is made
up of immigrants which are why we are the most diverse, innovative, and leading country in the
world.
When the world looks at America you cannot look a person s face and say they are Americans just
by their color or physical attributes. Americans are made up of immigrants across the globe. An

Sociological Themes In The Film Erin Brockovich
Erin Brockovich (2000) is a film written by Susannah Grant and directed by Steven Soderbergh.
Based on a successful lawsuit by an environmental lawyer of the same name against the Pacific
Gas and Electric Company (PG E) of California, this film covers a wide range of popular cultural
and sociological themes. It addresses issues such as lack of formal training and opportunity to
capable individuals, stereotyping of women and the struggle for justice which are some of the
most prevalent sociological and pop cultural issues in America. The story is structured linearly and
presents the struggle of the protagonist Erin who is a mother of three and is struggling to make

She is actually a complex character which the filmmakers use to highlight various concepts of
popular and sociological culture. Firstly she is shown to be a woman who is judged by those
around her because of how she looks and how she has a knack for behaving erratically. She is
even judged by the women who she works with as they consider her nothing short of White
Trash because of how she dresses and because of the mess her personal life is in. Secondly, they
construct the concept of an individual s capability regardless of their gender and class through
Erin s character. She does not have formal training of being a lawyer yet she is able to
understand the technicalities of law based on her own intelligence and capabilities. Thirdly, they
handle the struggle of proving yourself despite being a woman in the 1990 s. According to the
US census of 1990, despite starting to become more professionally aware women occupied
clerical and administrative support positions in the 1990 s ( We The American Women , 1993).
They were underrepresented in holding professional titles such as doctors, lawyers etc. Erin is an
antithesis to this concept. Even though she begs for a secretarial position at the beginning of the
film, she proves her mettle as having the potential to become a lawyer by the end of the

Humility In The Early Christian Community
One major issue that the early Christian community is the idea of humility. They had a major
problem with just putting trust in the Lord and listening what the Bible says. My brothers, do let us
have a little humility; let us forget our self assertion and braggadocio and stupid quarreling, and do
what he Bible tells us instead. (p 28). This passage from The First Epistle of Clement to the
Corinthians, shows that it is extremely important to just listen to the Bible and stop trying to figure
out and do everything ourselves. This is impossible and I believe that is what Clement was trying to
tell the Corinthians. Another issue that the early Christian community had was straying from the
Church Manual that was talked about in The Didache.

Analysis Of A QuinceaпїЅera
A QuinceaГ±era is one of the most important days in the life of a Mexican teenage girl. It is a
celebration on the girl s fifteenth birthday that is a marker of her entrance into womanhood
(learnnc.org.) The purpose is also to give thanks to God for his blessings, and to present a young
woman to the community, (learnnc.org.) The QuinceaГ±era honors the girl and her family at
this point in her life. The young woman typically wears a pink or white, very nice and formal,

important people in the ceremony of the big party are her maids of honor and escorts, all of the
various ages that she has completed. Her female relatives give gifts, and her parents and
godparents planned the event (learnnc.org.) Delaney, a fictional character, is turning fifteen on

Bracero Program History
Mexican nationals have migrated across the border for short term agricultural work since the 19th
century. With a shortage of jobs, Mexican workers seek the promise of what the neighboring labor
market of the United States has to offer. At the same time, the U.S. economy is in need workers to
grow the economy and the history of U.S. relations with Mexicobegan as self sustaining system of
circular migration.
On August 4, 1942 the United States recocnized a need for a temporary intergovernmental
agreement to set the standards for Mexican agricultural labor (officially referred to as the Mexican
Farm Labor Program). The program lasted much longer than anticipated and in 1951, Congress
formalized the Bracero Program with Public Law 78. From 1942 ... Show more content on

The subject then became controversial when more Mexican nationals, desperate for work, were
willing to take on these backbreaking jobs at wages most Americans weren t willing to work for.
American farm workers had reason to be concerned that the braceros would be competing with
them for the same jobs but at lower wages. The original concept of the Bracero Program was to
serve and protect both Mexican and domestic workers. For example, Americans would receive at
least the minimum wage in the area of the current work; guaranteed employment for three
fourths of the contract period; adequate, sanitary, and free housing; food provided at a low cost;
job insurance would be at employer s expense; and free transportation back to Mexico was
provided when the seasonal contract was up (Bracero History Archive, 2017) . The agriculture
employers were also only supposed to hire braceros when there was high labor shortage, and
were not to abuse the system. However, employers ignored many of these regulations and
Mexican workers were used as strikebreakers while native workers were put out of a job. The
only party who benefited from this injustice were the growers because they got cheap labor. This
imbalance went unchecked and as a result farm wages dropped suddenly from the 1940s to
the1950s, farm wages dropped sharply as a percentage of manufacturing wages, a result in part of
the use of braceros and undocumented laborers who lacked full rights in American

How Aristarchus Made A Large Jump From Terrestrial...
How Aristarchus made a large jump from terrestrial measurements of scale to the celestial is truly
impressive. Without any measures of the sizes of and distances to any celestial objects,
Aristarchus was able to measure both for the Moon. He was able to use something he knew about
the Earth and a bit of smart geometry to deduce the size of the Earths shadow at the distance of the
Moon. By watching the Moon go through the Earth s shadow which is formally known as a lunar
eclipse, Aristarchus could determine the ratio between the size of the shadow at the distance to the
Moon and the size of the Moon.
Aristarchus knew that on average two times a year, the surface of the full Moon becomes dark for
a period ranging up to around two hours. It was reasoned that during these times, the Moon was
passing through the shadow cast by the Earth, known as a lunar eclipse. The eclipse would only
occur during the full Moon because that s the time when the Moon is on the opposite side of the
Earth from the Sun. Aristarchus realized that the longest lunar eclipses must occur when the Moon
passes right through the center of the Earth s shadow, and so that the angular size of the Earth s
shadow could be measured by noting the difference in the position of the Moon before and after
the eclipse. He could then compare this angular size to the angular size of the Moon to get the ratio
between them. He used the formula Now by using the formula.
The moon could fit into earth roughly

College Admissions Essay-My Birth And My Name
My Birth and My Name
An outstanding mission was complete on this day. Although, it did take nine months and a lot of
effort, it was still complete all thanks to my amazing mother (and partially my dad, too).
Unfortunately, their mission wasn t quite the success. They had to fertilize an egg, form a fetus,
then wait nine months until the baby comes out healthily. My parents got the first two steps done
with no problem, but only partially completed the last step. My mother held the fetus inside of her
successfully for the nine months, but when it was time for it to come out, it was nearly dead! It
had its umbilical cord wrapped around its neck, suffocating it for the whole time and no one knew
anything about it. Can you believe that?! I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

outside my family is allowed to call my by that nickname. It makes me extremely uncomfortable
when they do. Others, such as friends or educators, are welcomed to call me nearly anything.
Some of my friends are calling me Mitch or an odd sounding way to pronounce my actual name.
Grandma Mitch (an inside joke), and Mom, also stuck with me for awhile. One name, that isn t a

Frankenstein s ambition

Victor s driving, obsessive ambition ruined his life and led to his own death and the murder of his
loved ones. Illustrate how ambition affects not only Victor and Robert Walton, but also the creature
in Frankenstein.
Thesis Statement: Ambition and the quest for knowledge is a fatal flaw in the characters of Victor
Frankenstein, Robert Walton, and the creature.
In Mary Shelley s 1818 novel, Frankenstein , a recurring motif of ambition and the quest for
knowledge is present among the characters of Victor Frankenstein, Robert Walton and the creature.

Victor begins to possess an unnatural drive in his quest for knowledge where he begins intense
study and experimentation, These thoughts supported my spirits, while I pursued my
undertaking with unremitting ardour. My cheek had grown pale from study, and my person had
become emaciated with confinement eventually isolating himself from his friends and family.
As the seasons passed Victor s obsession with his studies continued to grow, And the same
feelings which made me neglect the scenes around me caused me also to forget those friends
who were so many miles absent, and whom I had not seen for so long a time highlighting how
his ambition is a fatal flaw, neglecting the outside world and his loved ones. Victor s ambition to
research and attempt to create life drains him of health and sensibility, Every night I was
oppressed by a slow fever, and I became nervous to a most painful degree which is ironic to the goal
he wishes to achieve. Shelly s use of irony illuminates how Victor s obsessive ambition has become

Victor s blindness to what his end result will produce is immediately revealed when his final work

Blake s Songs of Innocence and of Experience are a much studied part of the

Naples, Italy is located in southern Europe along the coast, east of the Mediterranean Sea. Its
longitude and latitude are 40.8450В° N and 14.2583В° E, which means that Naples never gets
directed sunlight overhead any day throughout the year. Naples has an elevation of about 20 feet
above sea level. This is relatively low, and the city itself is close to the sea as well. This is kind of
scary because the sea levels keep rising, and in the future Naples could be submerged in water.

monthly temperature averages and precipitation.
Naples Climate Classification
Naples Italy s climate classification is a CSA. This climate is typical of places in the
Mediterranean area, this climate is a subtropical climate. The places around the Mediterranean Sea
is where this climate is mostly found. This climate is also found in southern Oregon and in most of
California. It is found in parts of Western and Southern Australia as well and in southwestern South
Africa. Some sections of Central Asia and central Chile are CSA too. This Climate has a dry and
hot summer and a rainy winter.
California and central Chile have the same Koppen classification with CSA. Both of the places
are on the western side of each of their continents. These places have the same climate throughout
the year. During the winter it rains but the summers in both places are always dry barely any rain,
it is hard to grow crops in the summer. There is also high pressure in all these places and when
there is high pressure there is less precipitation.

Dichotomy Between Eastern And Western Religions
Myths are culturally accepted stories that humans have orally constructed and passed on from
generation to generation to serve our larger perception of life and humanity. Further, myths help
guide us in their teachings about creation, good and evil, mortality, and suffering. However, these
myths contrast between Eastern and Western regions. Eastern regions depart from Western regions
in terms of their religious influence. Religionin Eastern regions helps shape the importance of
humans relationship with a higher power through the embodiment of rituals and sacrifices much
like in Native American and Shinto religious beliefs. Although Eastern regions branch from these
diverse cultures, they centralize on the belief that the relationship between Godand humans is
universal and essential for humanlife.

Importance Of Observation And Documentation In Teaching...
Teachers are aware of what they should do in the classroom when teaching young children. Teachers
should provide opportunities to develop positive dispositions toward learning when working with
young children to make sure they are using their knowledge and skills. Teaching young children,
the skills that need to learn about is the big key of understanding what the information that you will
need when you are assessing the young children. In this paper, the reader will read about observation
and documentation as assessment and why is it important? The reader will also read about the
difference between looking at and authentically or genuinely observing a child, the types of
documentation, two types of documentation that relate how teachers use the documentation in the
classroom and how documentations would be useful as assessments.
Observation is something that educators do carefully to gain information about young children.
Documentation is the process of collecting evidence that serves as a record. When teachers observe
the young children, it provides the information that the teachers need to build relationships with
individual children and enable them to be successful learners. The best way the teachers should
learn about children by carefully watching them, listening to them and studying their work. When
the teachers are watching and listening to children helps us understand what they are feeling,

as significant protection, potentially shielding the bacteria to the mutagenic effects the UV

The second control plate was also observed to have furry and pigmented red growth in all the

the bacteria had red pigmented growth but it is speckled, pinpointed and the original swipes

The quadrant exposed to 20 sec of UV light showed significantly less growth than the 10 sec
quadrant and the colonies are pinpointed with several beige colonies in between the red
speckles. Original swipe pattern of the bacteria was not observed in this colony. In the quadrant
exposed to 30 seconds of UV light, the differences are even more significant as the colonies are

Marc Chagall
Marc Chagall as an artist and as a person cannot be categorized. He was born in Vitebsk, Russia,
learned to paint in St. Petersburg and lived in Paris, Berlin, and the United States. His career is
influenced by many different factors. His Hasidic Jewish upbringing reflected in the content of his
paintings greatly. The lyrical fairy tales of Jewishmysticism, the stories of the Bible, and the
Rabbis and scholars who surrounded him in his childhood come out onto his work. When he went
to art school in St. Petersburg it was the period when he became exposed to the avant garde
movement in art.

Chagall in order to continue painting used a patterned tablecloth instead of a canvas. He did not
disguise this surface but retained elements of it in his composition. You can see the pattern over
the fiddler s shoulder and on his leg. He has the fiddler floating in mid air with the town below
him above and beside him. The different buildings in the town are arranged in geometric shapes
and lines. The most important thing as in all Chagall compositions is the symbolism. The
fiddler symbolizes severa!l things at once, a memory from Chagall s childhood, from his
homeland and on a personal level himself. His childhood memory was that of his uncle Neuch
who didn t play the violin very well but who was enthusiastic when he played it. Its wider
Russian significance is that of the failed revolution of 1905. The leader of this revolution was a
Jewish fiddler named Edouard Sormus, who led workers through the streets to fight for their
rights. Chagall saw himself in the fiddler, a solitary individual, isolated by the strangeness and
mystery of art. The whole build up of the painting reinforces the poetical dimension of the picture.
This painting was important to Chagall. He used the symbol of the fiddler in other composition, for
example The Violinist (1911), and The Green Violinist (1923 24).
Another major work of his, the painting I and the Village (1911 1914) suggests the complexities of
opposition and unity, the confrontation

Age Of Enlightenment DBQ
The Age of Enlightenment, a movement during the 17th and 18th century started from the
Europeans, later moving into American colonies. The point of this movement was for the society to
reform on a new base such as emphasizing reason and individualism over tradition. Enlightenment
thinkers, Montesquieu, Rousseau, Beccaria, Locke, and Voltaire helped launched this project
amongst Europeans. John Locke, for example, criticized absolute monarchy and favored self
government. Voltaire also believed that people should be able to speak their minds without the fear
they may be punished. Through these philosophy influence, this eventually leads to European

Racial Profiling And The War On Terrorism

Racial profiling is a futile method in preventing domestic and international terrorism. But regardless
of this fact, the United States has attempted to employ this technique in its counter terror and
espionage efforts dating back as early as World War II. And as long as this has been present in has
been a point of contention and discussion amongst the American populace, as this country has well
documented accounts of this throughout their history that include: the internment of Japanese
Americans in WWII, the profiling of minorities and low income areas during the War on Drugs,...

This was not the first time that a racial make up was used to classify and compartmentalize a
possible threat to the nation. (Elliott, 2006).
The earliest example of racial profiling would be during the Japanese internment Executive Order
9066 was a United States presidential order signed and issued during World War II by President
Franklin D. Roosevelt on February 19th, 1942. The order authorized Secretary of War, and the
Military Commanders whom he may from time to time designate to prescribe certain areas as
military zones, clearing the way for the removal, relocation and incarceration of Japanese, German,
and Italian Americans to internment camps. During this time racial profiling was used as a mode
of creating suspicion and investigation, and this was highlighted in the case of Korematsu v. United
States, 323 U.S. 214. The case involved a man named Fred Korematsu, Mr. Korematsu was a
Japanese American citizen living in San Leandro, California who, when commanded to enter one of

The, By Francisco Cantu And Sad Truth Of Life
A large portion of transitioning into adulthood is the realization, the biggest and most life altering
one is discovering that not everything is as you imagined or hoped. Francisco Cantu s essay
Bajadas , is a great example of this as it discusses his changing viewpoints regarding his job as a
Border Patrolagent as he comes to realize more about what the job truly entails. Unveiling the
disappointing and sad truth of life is a pivotal point in someone s life, having the ability to make or
break the person, clearly seen in the essayas Cantu discusses a year s worth of experiences with
the Border Patrol. Cantu s personal experience is an effective way to shed light on a plethora of

As defined by The Pew Trusts, It [Border Patrol] maintains and monitors border fencing, patrols
land borders, operates land based surveillance equipment, and conducts search and rescue
missions, among other duties. This idea is what excited him, that he would be out there doing
his best for all the immigrants that needed some help. He explains it to his mother as a need to
go, to grow as a person and learn how to face situations of danger as well as how to understand
the region and landscape better. He would also be using all the information and experience that
he had available to him. (Cantu 57) He later discusses how he can hardly deal with all the dark
things that he is experiencing realizing it was not at all as he expected. He mentions losing sleep,
having nightmares, as well as struggling with thoughts of how his job is not as fulfilling as he
needed or expected. He later goes on to state that he had accepted his role in the situation, as
someone who could do his best to protect and provide support to these immigrants in such a trying
and difficult time in their life and hoping to make an impact.
Life is constantly changing and transforming as we age, learn and experience more, Cantu s essay
conveys this message clearly with all the seemingly unimportant situations adding up to deliver one
large message. Life is constantly in a state of adjustment as more information is gathered and used
to make decisions and change the path ahead of them. In

Seven Wonders of the Ancient World
Abstract
Various Wonders of the World lists have been compiled over the ages in order to catalogue the
most spectacular natural and man made constructions. The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is
the first known list of remarkable man made creations of classical antiquity, and was based on
guide books popular among Hellenic sight seers and only includes works located around the
Mediterranean rim. Later lists include those for the Medieval World, the Modern World, the
Natural World and others. The list that will be discussed today is the Seven Wonders of the Ancient
World. The historian Herodotus (484 BC ca. 425 BC), and the scholar Callimachus of Cyrene (ca
305 240 BC) at the Museum of Alexandria, made early lists of seven wonders but ... Show more

The gardens were destroyed in an earthquake after the 1st century BCE.
The lush Hanging Gardens are extensively documented by Greek historians such as Strabo and
Diodorus Siculus. Through the ages, the location may have been confused with gardens that
existed at Nineveh, whose king at the time was Nimrod, since tablets from there clearly show
gardens. Writings on these tablets describe the possible use of something similar to an
Archimedes screw as a process of raising the water to the required height. The Greek Historian
Diodorus (Antipar) said: The Garden was 100 feet long by 100 feet wide and built up in tiers so
that it resembled a theater. Vaults had been constructed under the ascending terraces which
carried the entire weight of the planted garden; the uppermost vault, which was seventy five feet
high, was the highest part of the garden, which, at this point, was on the same level as the city
walls. The roofs of the vaults which supported the garden were constructed of stone beams some
sixteen feet long, and over these were laid first a layer of reeds set in thick tar, then two courses
of baked brick bonded by cement, and finally a covering of lead to prevent the moisture in the
soil penetrating the roof. On top of this roof enough topsoil was heaped to allow the biggest trees
to take root. The earth was leveled off and thickly

Why Enron Became A Middle Man Company
With the changing of the economy in the late 1990s, as the old millennium was ending and the
new one beginning, one particular company discovered a new way to rise to the top in the
trading business. Enron, originally known as a natural gas pipeline company [started by
Kenneth Lay in 1985], soon became known as an energy trading corporation that bought and
sold gas as well as electricity. (Fox, 1). With over 20,000 employees and 40 worldwide
businesses, The Houston, TX Corporation soon became a prodigy of the times. Originally it made
its profit by promising to deliver a particular amount of gas to certain businesses at market price on
particular days. (O Harrow Jr.). Soon, Enronbecame a middle man company, placing it between
buyers and sellers and making money off of the difference between the selling and buying prices.
Their books were kept closed to each opposing party, making Enron the only one to know both
prices. (O Harrow Jr.). After entering many complex and intense contracts, the corporation entered
into business with Arthur Andersen, an accounting firm who handled Enron s auditing. (Fox, 6).
Enron had complex services and high rising stocks. At the top of the game, Enron was a company
worth about $70 billion; its stocks were trading at a rate of $90 a share, and seemed indestructible.

Arms And Weapons In Beowulf
Another example of weapons in Beowulf references to arms and armor, very accurate to the
Anglo Saxons traditional shields and weapons. Then Hrothgar s thane leaped onto his horse
and, brandishing a spear, galloped down to the shore; there, he asked at once: Warriors! Who are
you, in your coats of mail, who have steered your tall ship over the sea lanes to these shores? ....
Never have warriors, carrying their shields, come to this country in a more open manner. Nor
were you assured of my leader s approval, my kinsmen s consent. I ve never set eyes on a more
noble man, a warrior in armour, than one among your band; he s no mere retainer, so ennobled
by his weapons. ... The boar crest, brightly gleaming, stood over their helmets: superbly
tempered, plated with glowing gold, it guarded the lives of those grim warriors. ... Their byrnies
were gleaming, the strong links of shining chain mail chinked together. When the sea stained
travelers had reached the hall itself in their fearsome armour, they placed their broad shields
(worked so skillfully) against Heorot s wall. Then they sat on a bench; the brave men s armour
sang. The seafarer s gear stood all together, a grey tipped forest of ash spears; that armed troop
was well equipped with weapons. .... in common we all share sword, helmet, byrnie, the trappings
of war. (Levick, 1) Anglo Saxon Honor Code Fighting was seen as something honorable and a way
of life. If one s family was murdered, that person was expected to gain

Analysis Of The Wife Of His Youth By Chesnutt
How does it feel to be ripped away from someone you love, only to be separated and to not
remember each other? In the story The wife of his youth by Chesnutt, Mr. Ryder has a woman
from his youth named Liza Jane whom loved him very much. Liza Jane waits for years on her
husband, when in reality he has quite become a successful man. The protagonist Mr. Ryder
tends to be a man of his word. In that case that seems to be very charming, and I am pretty sure
many women have fallen for that. Loyalty has always been a big part in my life, and Mr. Ryder is a
very loyal man. I can connect to him because, I have lost someone very near and dear to my heart,
and when they came back to my life I was able to still be loyal to them. If Ms. Jane had not

This house is fully equipped with 21st century technology. Even though there are no people the
house works on a specific schedule 24 hours 7 days a week. The story begins normally, alarm
clock goes off and right away that s a sign of people. What was not expected was that there is no
humans beings what so ever, it was just one little house by it self, around is just rubble and
debree. Since this story is written as if it was in the future, everything is automated. The house is
a machine that did everything from cleaning to preparing food. Although people are not present
(because of the nuclear holocaust), the house still functions. The climax of the story is when a
weak tree bough crashed through the kitchen window, knocking over cleaning solvent over the
stove. Instantaneously the kitchen catches fire. The house tried its best to defend itself but as
we all know nature is unstoppable. This story is phenomenon; it s very intense and has you on
the edge of your seat the whole time. This story is made for the reader to visualize the actual
story, as if you were actually there. All that is left is the lonely house and the wounded dog. What
happens in the end really is unexpected and even sad. In Ray Bradbury s short story August 2026:
There Will Come Soft Rain , He uses various literary devices to warn us about the dangers of
technology . Bradbury uses symbols to illustrate that humans are to dependent on technology. He

Essay about Coming Of Age In Mississippi
Coming of Age in Mississippi is an eye opening testimony to the racism that exemplified what it
was like to be an African American living in the south before and after the civil rights
movements in the 50 s and 60 s. African Americans had been given voting and citizen rights, but
did not and to a certain degree, still can not enjoy these rights. The southern economy that Anne
Moody was born into in the 40 s was one that was governed and ruled by a bunch of whites, many
of which who very prejudice. This caused for a very hard up bringing for a young African American
girl. Coming of Age in Mississippi broadened horizon of what it was like for African Americans to
live during the 40 s, 50 , and 60 s. There are many traces of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Also, I think that since she was busy with everything else in her life that she could not really
hang out with friends, church was a place for her to make some friends. Religion was not just a
factor for Anne, but for many of the slaves during the Civil War. The slaves would use religion
as a way to get away from the harsh realities of their lives. Also they viewed Jesus and Moses as
heroes who lead their people to freedom. Their religion was aimed toward the real world rather
than being in heaven when they died. Basically, their singing or praying was about being
delivered from slavery. They also used hymns as special codes for meeting points while trying to
escape. To me the song Swanee River has a different meaning to the song on page 129. To me
Swanne River was talking about being at home and a child, being around the familiar faces; your
family and friends. Also, I think that home refers to being back on the plantation where they know
they have security. Not in the sense of being safe, but being where they know and somewhat have
fun. The song on page 129 about god s hebben means to me that black and white people are the
same, minus the color of their skin. It is saying that every one is the same in God s eyes, and
when we get to heaven we are all going to look the same. To me the Swanee River song tells me
that the black people miss being at home and as much as they hated being owned by whites they
miss being on the

Real estate deals not only with the architectural design and infrastructure of a building but also with
its finance and potentiality. It is an area that is highly influenced by the population density, income
generation and tastes of the people and economic growth of a country under different period of time.
Real Estate Finance System in Bangladesh:
The housing finance sector in Bangladesh is both underdeveloped and highly segregated.
Private construction finance:
The predominant way of financing is through landowner and developer self finance, e.g., by selling
part of the land parcel or other land and subscribing the housing development fully before
construction starts. Buyers of individual units in multifamily apartments have to put down a 25 or
more percent advance and the unit has to be paid for in a few large installments before the house is
completed. This type of financing arrangement is difficult for all but the highest income groups in
the absence of mortgage financing.
Public construction finance:
After the failed attempt to stimulate BHBFC to lend for lower cost housing developments the
Prime Minister‟s Office recently established a Housing Fund called the Grihayan Project, which
provides low cost funds to NGOs and public sector developers for the construction of low to
moderate income housing schemes. The Housing Fund is administered by an inter ministerial
committee of 17 members and includes one NGO

Pharmaceutical Industry and Drug Essay
Chapter 21
Questions 1 through 7
1. On balance, do you think Merck is an ethical and socially responsible company? Why or why
not? How about Pfizer?
In my opinion, Merck is not an ethical and socially responsible company with introducing Vioxx
into pharmaceutical market. Before the Vioxx approval by FDA, scientists from University of
Pennsylvania found that the drug could bring some serious results such as cardiovascular, and
there were many serious cardiovascular problems during testing on patients. However, Merck
ignored these negative effects, kept developing Vioxx was order to get ample profits. At the same
time , through Direct to consumer advertising , Merck made customers believe Vioxx that was
safer and more effective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For tort lawyers, these relative risks are enriching lawyers and destroying the pharmaceutical
industry through an excess of litigation and reactionary over regulation. Thus, tort lawyers are
taking a lot of benefits from cases happened because of these relative risks.
For the consumers, customers should always be aware with the side effects from taking drugs in a
long term. They should balance the benefits and harm for their health; and make decision after
doctor s suggestion.
5. Do you think Merck CEO Gilmartin acted wisely in recalling Vioxx? Why or Why not?
We don t think Merck CEO Gilmartin acted wisely in recalling Vioxx. First of all, Vioxx was
taking a large share in the market. It increased huge sales for the company. Product Vioxx was in
the market for a while; many customers were taking benefits from the product. Since the huge of
sales, we could easily tell this product meets the customers needs. Since the controversy
happened, Vioxx would raise the risk of heart attacks. However, it was not absolutely proved that
the drug is the direct factor to cause the heart disease. In case, it says the drug shows no risk by
several other studies. Therefore, if Gilmarin recalled the product, it means the company admitted
the factor of risk in heart disease for Vioxx. Customers would start to question other Merck s
products, so it would hurt other products for Merck. Merck lost market shares and reputation in the
future. Oppositely, if

The Us Strategy For Winning The Global War On Terrorism
In light of this, it should be mentioned that the US strategy for winning the Global War on
Terrorism is predicated on creating an international environment inhospitable to terrorists and all
those who support them (Fogarty 2001). Meaning, that the fight against terrorism heavily relies on
international cooperation. In order to achieve such a feat, nevertheless, America must be amiable by
fellow governments and their citizens. Unfortunately, the reports and findings on GTMO makes it
increasingly difficult for the American administration to do so, for the inhumane treatment makes
citizens of other countries upset. Quoting General Colin Powell, people from other nation states are
beginning to doubt the moral basis of our fight against terrorism(Duberstein as cited in
Washington Monthly 2008). This proves to be an immense hindrance to the war, as America
cannot hope to face all of the world s terrorists alone. To put this in perspective, one can take a
look at the situation with Turkey and Russia. Earlier this year, a Russian jet was shot down by
Turkey, having flown into the latter s airspace without permission (BBC 2015). Granted, there lies
in factors such as the decades long animosity between the two countries. Albeit, who s to say that
America s relations with countries will never reach such lows? Rather, previous Secretary of
Defence Chuck Hagel says that one of the greatest long term dangers America faces is that we are
now mistrusted by many nations, even our

The Underlying Causes Of The Great Depression
According to the textbook, one of the underlying causes of the Depression was the crash of the
stock market in 1929. On October 29, 1929 the U.S. Stock market crashed and is known today as
Black Tuesday. During that time the most common credit extended to people was what was
called a call loan. The stock buyer would put down 10 to 50 percent of what the stock was worth
and borrow the rest to make full payment. If the stock dropped below a certain price the lender
could call back the loan, demanding immediate payment in full. Billions of dollars were lost by a
great many people, sending the economy into a tail spin.
Another factor was the problems with the economy. Agriculture had been in a severe depression for
years already and the industrial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the article one of the lessons learned is that just because you qualify to get a loan
does not mean you should get a loan. The Great Depression was caused by a huge credit bubble that
finally burst. Banks loaned money to Wall Street who loaned money to investors. Investors
lowered their qualifications for getting loans so more people took out loans. It was a cycle that
finally collapsed. And it is a cycle that is easy for people to fall into today. Many of us get a loan
then we fall into trouble and can t pay the loan back so we go take out another loan to pay the first
one and so on and so on (Brenner, L.,

Factors For Improving Nue, Crop Physiological Efficiency...
There are two foremost factors for improving NUE, which are crop physiological efficiency and
agronomic efficiency. The primary goal of plant breeding targeting for NUE is to increase plant
N sink ability, thus the characterization of traits, which connect to NUE improvement, gives
breeders good breeding tools (Cormier et al., 2013). On the other hand, agronomic efficiency as
soil ability to maintain and supply N (i.e. N source) could be improved by fertilizer and field
management techniques. Improvement of single crop ability or cultivation technique could not
bring an ideal result on NUE due to the complexity of N dynamics which is governed by both
plant and agricultural regimes (Fraisier et al., 2000; Pathak et al., 2008). In fact, several NUE
studies emphasize the importance of synchrony of N supply from fertilizer, pedosphere and
environment, to plant N demand (Sandhu et al., 2000; Cassman et al., 2002; Grant et al., 2002;
Shanahan, et al., 2008). As agricultural management mainly responsible for N supply as N source,
and plant N sink ability is the plant physiological property, which is genetically controlled.
Therefore, integrated effort and improvement in breeding and agricultural management is necessary
to ensure betterNUE. The physiological source sink relationship within a single plant (i.e.
assimilation, translocation and remobilization) has already been discussed elsewhere in this paper;
therefore, the source and sink only refers to N source in pedosphere , and

Countless methods are used to convince the audiencethat s being targeted to buy the product. The framing of the image directs your attention to Susan Glenn , as if she was the only character in the commercial. The lighting around it predict her as if she was an angel, and no one was better than her. For example, in the ad she is seen floating across the street with firework sparks around her, like a light to a shadow. You can tell the love that he had for her, especially when he says, not a girl, but the girl . The bathroom scene at the end with the narrator, displays a feeling of sadness around it, as well him also being alone. The saddening feeling at the end of the commercial where the narrator is in his bathroom, is an indirect way of appealing to pathos in this commercial. • 4. Hiroshima And The Atomic Bomb On August 6th, 1945, the United States of America dropped the atomic bomb in Hiroshima, Japan. This bomb decimated over two hundred thousand Japanese citizens, and caused the Empire of Japan to surrender ending World War II. In his book Hiroshima, John Heresy reveals the stories of six survivors, and how their lives were changed following the bombing. As you might expect, the time succeeding the attack was rather hectic. Even more so for physicians and nurses, as thousands of people were rushing towards them for medical assistance. Two physicians, Dr. Masakazu Fujii, and Dr. Terufumi Sasaki, have survived to tell their stories. Dr. Fujii ran a hospital that overlooked a river. When the bomb exploded, Dr. Fujii was blown off his feet and landed in the water along with the remnants of his hospital. Dr. Sasaki was much luckier than Dr. Fujii, because he remained uninjured and immediately started caring for those close to him. At the time the bomb exploded, Reverend Mr. Kiyoshi Tanimoto is helping a friend move his daughter s belongings and Father Wilhelm Kleinsorge, who was recently suffering from a stomach illness, was resting on his porch. Mrs. Hatsuyo Nakamura had three children, and when the bomb exploded, she was looking out the window. She gathers her children from the wreckage, and takes them to Asano Park, which was designed for use as an evacuation area. R And D Industrial Policy U.S. R D Industrial Policy While the United States touts free market policies as main guiding principles, U.S. policy makers have actively used research and development (R D) industrial policies to maintain and grow the U.S. economy. There are two types of R D, also known as research and experimentation (R E), funding models; one is direct federal research dollars given to industry, typically for basic research, and the other in the use of taxcredits for R D activities. Tax credit policies began in 1981 as part of the Economic Recovery Tax Act (Talley, 2011). The U.S. has long funded R D, however this funding has steadily decreased with the total in 1976 of just over 1.2% of GDP with dropping below .8% of GDP in 2014 (AAAS, 2014a). As of 2013, South Korea, Finland, Japan, Taiwan, and Germany all outspend the U.S. on direct R D funding relative to GDP (AAAS, 2014b). The IMF and OECD indicate that R D tax credits are a main growth strategy for the G 20 nations (IMF, 2014). This research topics explores how the United States domestic industrial policies supporting research and development influence business and entrepreneurial behaviors within the U.S., which industries has this benefited the most, overall societal impacts of advancements in technology and automation, and finally how this supports comparative advantage for the United States as well as implications for developing nations. With such activity comes a high price. Studies have shown that there has been a significant rise in the number of children with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), emotional and psychological problems, and out of wedlock childbearing. Sex has always been discussed publically by the media, television shows, music and occasionally by parents and teachers in educational context. Teens hear them, and as the saying goes, monkey see, monkey do , they are tempted to experiment with it. Therefore, it is important for every teenager to be aware of the outcome associated with premature sex. If students are educated about the impact of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Programs that encourage abstinence have become a vital part of school systems in the US. These programs are usually referred to as abstinence only or value based programs while other programs are called as safer sex, comprehensive, secular or abstinence plus programs which on the contrary promote the usage of effective contraception. Although abstinence only and safer sex programs disagree with one another, their core values and stand on the aims of sex education is to help teens develop problem solving skills and the skill of good decision making. They believe that adolescents will be better prepared to act responsibly in the heat of the moment (Silva). Most programs that have been currently implemented in the US have seen a delay in the initiation of sex among teens which proves to be a positive and desirable outcome (Silva). Statistics from recent studies suggest that only 13% of U.S. teens have ever had sex by the age of 15. But by the age of 19, seven in ten teens of both sexes have had sex. Between 1995 and 2006 2008, the percentage of teens aged 15 17 who had ever engaged in sexual intercourse declined from 38% to 28%. Among teens aged 18 19, it declined from 68% in 1995 to 60% in 2006 2008. The pregnancy rate among young women has declined steadily from 117 pregnancies per 1,000 women aged 15 19 in 1990 to 70 per 1,000 in 2005. The study involved hydrolysis carbohydrate cereals powder and jams by immersing in boiling water at environmental temperature. Acid hydrolysis was carried out through reflux boiling for 20 minutes with 10ml 0f 1.5M concentrations of diluted sulphuric acid. The above reaction scheme shows that one mole of sugar will react with one mole of 3,5 dinitrosalicylic acid. However, it is suspected that there are many side reactions, and the actual reaction stoichiometry is more complicated than that previously described. The type of side reaction depends on the exact nature of the reducing sugars. Different reducing sugars generally yield different color intensities; thus, it is necessary to calibrate for each sugar. In addition to the oxidation of the carbonyl groups in the sugar, other side reactions such as the decomposition of sugar also compete for the availability of 3,5 dinitrosalicylic acid(http: //www.ehow.com/about_5244996_general use dinitrosalicylic acid.html). As a consequence, carboxymethyl cellulose can affect the calibration curve by enhancing the intensity of the developed color. Although this is a convenient and relatively inexpensive method, due to the relatively low specificity, one must run blanks diligently if the colorimetric results are to be interpreted ... • 10. The Future Of Fiber Optics James Gourley PHS 208 Barrett Honors Contract Additional Research Report The Future of Fiber Optics I. What is Fiber Optics? Fiber optic technology is often discussed in a wide range of conversations. This may be when people talk about TVs, phones, internet, or general technology. Fiber optics may also be referred to when talking about light and optics. An optical fiber is defined as a flexible, transparent fiber made by drawing glass (silica) or plastic to a diameter slightly thicker than that of human hair (Wikipedia). These fibers are used as a means of light transmission from one end of the fiber to the other end of the fiber and this is referred to as fiber optic communications. These fibers are quite technologically advanced because they have the ability to transmit more data and at a quicker rate than normal cables made of wire. There is also much less lost data when using fiber optic technology. Clearly, the benefits of fiber optics are much greater than traditional wired cables. Fiber optic cables are also used for the purpose of lighting and sensing. There are already many practical applications of the technology such as lasers, but these applications are just the beginning of the potential of this powerful technology. II. How was Fiber Optics Discovered? Fiber optics as we know it today has been the result of a long chain of inventions that all began with John Tyndall s 1854 discover that light can be conducted through water and bent. A study found by University of Maryland department of engineering there is a hacker attack every thirty nine seconds, affecting one in three Americans each year.[1] This data was published in 2007 and has increased in the past decade. When Americans think of a cyber attack, one would think of it being financial attack such as stolen credit card information. What if cyber criminals took control of the power grid? The Department of Energy has created localized grids that are normally connected to our traditional grid, but has the option to be disconnected to support reliability and resiliency.[6] Microgrids use advanced smart grid technologies and integrate distributed energy resources.[4] At time, they can be used when there is a severe outage to offer local regions with reliable power even when a physical or cyber threat occurs.[4] Since we already have the technology to build a grid that is more resilient and less of a target for adversaries, all Americans need to push for this to remain a priority and find ways to support legislation for a rebuilding of the infrastructure system. With companies such as Intel who are in the energy and security sectors but also researching artificial intelligence and self automated vehicles and robots, there is a possibility that a rebuilding of the infrastructure system is plausible. Many religions help to provide its followers with this fulfillment through the principal beliefs, which are held as sacred. Followers of Daoism follow traditions based on philosophy and connectedness to nature and the world around us. Through this Daoists are enabled to forge a strong bond with the world around them, using it to empower them, this then allows for the followers to feel fulfillment in their lives as they strive to attain inner peace and immortality. Daoism revolves around our interaction with Tao and the flow of Chi. The Tao (otherwise known as the way) can be described as the order of the universe affecting everything throughout life. Humans cannot understand the Tao and its working throughout the universe. The Tao manifests itself within our world in many different forms, it is found within nature, the world and the universe. The Tao Te Chingwritten by Laozi describes the Tao as The Tao that can be spoken of is not the constant Tao; The name that can be named Is not the constant Name. (Tao Te Ching Chapter 1) Another description of the Tao comes from the sage Chuang Tzu who defines the Tao as The way is to man as rivers and lakes are to fish, the natural condition of life. Corporal punishment can negatively affect the parent and the child, leaving them wondering the level of love from their parents. Corporal punishment is illegal in some places, Some countries don t allow and even punish those who allow corporal punishment. A parent could go to jail for spankingtheir child, hitting their children with belts, flyswatters, paddles, ect. Corporal punishmentcan sometimes be very unnecessary, Not every bad behavior needs to involve corporal punishment . It might be enough to have a serious conversation with the child for them to see what they did wrong. When you start to give teachers and other people who are not the parents the ability to punish a child so harshly, then people can begin to abuse this power, and some usually do, in this society if you give an inch, they take a mile There is no true way to determine if a child truly deserved the punishment or if it was simply because a teacher was frustrated or fed up. That is because most of the time corporal punishment is given based on opinion. Another big problem with corporal punishment by others other than the parent is, what if the child gets injured, who is responsible? The parent, the person who did the punishment, or no one? Another problem is, violence promotes more violence which is bad, violence can get kids in more trouble in a different way with someone else, they will think what they re doing is perfectly fine because their ... They had a major problem with just putting trust in the Lord and listening what the Bible says. My brothers, do let us have a little humility; let us forget our self assertion and braggadocio and stupid quarreling, and do what he Bible tells us instead. (p 28). This passage from The First Epistle of Clement to the Corinthians, shows that it is extremely important to just listen to the Bible and stop trying to figure out and do everything ourselves. This is impossible and I believe that is what Clement was trying to tell the Corinthians. Another issue that the early Christian community had was straying from the Church Manual that was talked about in The Didache. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the same time, the U.S. economy is in need workers to grow the economy and the history of U.S. relations with Mexicobegan as self sustaining system of circular migration. On August 4, 1942 the United States recocnized a need for a temporary intergovernmental agreement to set the standards for Mexican agricultural labor (officially referred to as the Mexican Farm Labor Program). The subject then became controversial when more Mexican nationals, desperate for work, were willing to take on these backbreaking jobs at wages most Americans weren t willing to work for. American farm workers had reason to be concerned that the braceros would be competing with them for the same jobs but at lower wages. The original concept of the Bracero Program was to serve and protect both Mexican and domestic workers. For example, Americans would receive at least the minimum wage in the area of the current work; guaranteed employment for three fourths of the contract period; adequate, sanitary, and free housing; food provided at a low cost; job insurance would be at employer s expense; and free transportation back to Mexico was provided when the seasonal contract was up (Bracero History Archive, 2017) . The agriculture employers were also only supposed to hire braceros when there was high labor shortage, and were not to abuse the system. However, employers ignored many of these regulations and Mexican workers were used as strikebreakers while native workers were put out of a job. The only party who benefited from this injustice were the growers because they got cheap labor. This imbalance went unchecked and as a result farm wages dropped suddenly from the 1940s to the1950s, farm wages dropped sharply as a percentage of manufacturing wages, a result in part of the use of braceros and undocumented laborers who lacked full rights in American ... • 24. How Aristarchus Made A Large Jump From Terrestrial... How Aristarchus made a large jump from terrestrial measurements of scale to the celestial is truly impressive. Without any measures of the sizes of and distances to any celestial objects, Aristarchus was able to measure both for the Moon. He was able to use something he knew about the Earth and a bit of smart geometry to deduce the size of the Earths shadow at the distance of the Moon. By watching the Moon go through the Earth s shadow which is formally known as a lunar eclipse, Aristarchus could determine the ratio between the size of the shadow at the distance to the Moon and the size of the Moon. Aristarchus knew that on average two times a year, the surface of the full Moon becomes dark for a period ranging up to around two hours. It was reasoned that during these times, the Moon was passing through the shadow cast by the Earth, known as a lunar eclipse. The eclipse would only occur during the full Moon because that s the time when the Moon is on the opposite side of the Earth from the Sun. Aristarchus realized that the longest lunar eclipses must occur when the Moon passes right through the center of the Earth s shadow, and so that the angular size of the Earth s shadow could be measured by noting the difference in the position of the Moon before and after the eclipse. He could then compare this angular size to the angular size of the Moon to get the ratio between them. He used the formula Now by using the formula. The moon could fit into earth roughly ... You can see the pattern over the fiddler s shoulder and on his leg. He has the fiddler floating in mid air with the town below him above and beside him. The different buildings in the town are arranged in geometric shapes and lines. The most important thing as in all Chagall compositions is the symbolism. The fiddler symbolizes severa!l things at once, a memory from Chagall s childhood, from his homeland and on a personal level himself. His childhood memory was that of his uncle Neuch who didn t play the violin very well but who was enthusiastic when he played it. Its wider Russian significance is that of the failed revolution of 1905. The leader of this revolution was a Jewish fiddler named Edouard Sormus, who led workers through the streets to fight for their rights. Chagall saw himself in the fiddler, a solitary individual, isolated by the strangeness and mystery of art. The whole build up of the painting reinforces the poetical dimension of the picture. This painting was important to Chagall. He used the symbol of the fiddler in other composition, for example The Violinist (1911), and The Green Violinist (1923 24). In Japan, education is shorter, harder, and very different than America. Japan is very dedicated to education and are honored for it. Education is one of the most important things to the people of Japan. By examining Japanese education, it shows how Japan is able to teach and learn history, environmental, transportation, religion, teaching, and mostly math. Roosevelt on February 19th, 1942. The order authorized Secretary of War, and the Military Commanders whom he may from time to time designate to prescribe certain areas as military zones, clearing the way for the removal, relocation and incarceration of Japanese, German, and Italian Americans to internment camps. During this time racial profiling was used as a mode of creating suspicion and investigation, and this was highlighted in the case of Korematsu v. United States, 323 U.S. 214. The case involved a man named Fred Korematsu, Mr. Korematsu was a Japanese American citizen living in San Leandro, California who, when commanded to enter one of two Japanese internment camps, declined to leave his town. Korematsu refused to do so based on the claim that the Executive Order violated his personal rights and was unconstitutional as it violated the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution. Why Enron Became A Middle Man Company With the changing of the economy in the late 1990s, as the old millennium was ending and the new one beginning, one particular company discovered a new way to rise to the top in the trading business. Enron, originally known as a natural gas pipeline company [started by Kenneth Lay in 1985], soon became known as an energy trading corporation that bought and sold gas as well as electricity. (Fox, 1). With over 20,000 employees and 40 worldwide businesses, The Houston, TX Corporation soon became a prodigy of the times. Originally it made its profit by promising to deliver a particular amount of gas to certain businesses at market price on particular days. (O Harrow Jr.). Soon, Enronbecame a middle man company, placing it between buyers and sellers and making money off of the difference between the selling and buying prices. Their books were kept closed to each opposing party, making Enron the only one to know both prices. (O Harrow Jr.). After entering many complex and intense contracts, the corporation entered into business with Arthur Andersen, an accounting firm who handled Enron s auditing. (Fox, 6). Enron had complex services and high rising stocks. At the top of the game, Enron was a company worth about $70 billion; its stocks were trading at a rate of $90 a share, and seemed indestructible. • 53. The Us Strategy For Winning The Global War On Terrorism In light of this, it should be mentioned that the US strategy for winning the Global War on Terrorism is predicated on creating an international environment inhospitable to terrorists and all those who support them (Fogarty 2001). Meaning, that the fight against terrorism heavily relies on international cooperation. In order to achieve such a feat, nevertheless, America must be amiable by fellow governments and their citizens. Unfortunately, the reports and findings on GTMO makes it increasingly difficult for the American administration to do so, for the inhumane treatment makes citizens of other countries upset. Quoting General Colin Powell, people from other nation states are beginning to doubt the moral basis of our fight against terrorism(Duberstein as cited in Washington Monthly 2008). This proves to be an immense hindrance to the war, as America cannot hope to face all of the world s terrorists alone. To put this in perspective, one can take a look at the situation with Turkey and Russia. Earlier this year, a Russian jet was shot down by Turkey, having flown into the latter s airspace without permission (BBC 2015). Granted, there lies in factors such as the decades long animosity between the two countries. Albeit, who s to say that America s relations with countries will never reach such lows? On October 29, 1929 the U.S. Stock market crashed and is known today as Black Tuesday. During that time the most common credit extended to people was what was called a call loan. The stock buyer would put down 10 to 50 percent of what the stock was worth and borrow the rest to make full payment. If the stock dropped below a certain price the lender could call back the loan, demanding immediate payment in full. • 55. Factors For Improving Nue, Crop Physiological Efficiency... There are two foremost factors for improving NUE, which are crop physiological efficiency and agronomic efficiency. The primary goal of plant breeding targeting for NUE is to increase plant N sink ability, thus the characterization of traits, which connect to NUE improvement, gives breeders good breeding tools (Cormier et al., 2013). On the other hand, agronomic efficiency as soil ability to maintain and supply N (i.e. N source) could be improved by fertilizer and field management techniques. Improvement of single crop ability or cultivation technique could not bring an ideal result on NUE due to the complexity of N dynamics which is governed by both plant and agricultural regimes (Fraisier et al., 2000; Pathak et al., 2008). In fact, several NUE studies emphasize the importance of synchrony of N supply from fertilizer, pedosphere and environment, to plant N demand (Sandhu et al., 2000; Cassman et al., 2002; Grant et al., 2002; Shanahan, et al., 2008). As agricultural management mainly responsible for N supply as N source, and plant N sink ability is the plant physiological property, which is genetically controlled. Therefore, integrated effort and improvement in breeding and agricultural management is necessary to ensure betterNUE. The physiological source sink relationship within a single plant (i.e. assimilation, translocation and remobilization) has already been discussed elsewhere in this paper; therefore, the source and sink only refers to N source in pedosphere , and ...
