A Thousand Splendid Suns Reivew
Macbeth is a Shakespearean Tragedy Macbeth is considered to be one of the greatest Shakespearean
tragedies written by William Shakespeare. According to A.C. Bradley, it is the "most vehement, the
most concentrated, perhaps we may say the most tremendous, of the tragedies" (Bradley 333).
Macbeth, written by Shakespeare is a Shakespearean tragedy because it has a tragic hero,
mathemata, and a hamartia. These three characteristics are crucial to have in a Shakespearean
tragedy and prove that Macbeth is indeed one. More specifically, the tragic hero is one of the most
important of the three because without the hero, sympathy cannot be evoked. Macbeth is a tragedy
because it contains a tragic hero. In a Shakespearean tragedy, it is ... Show more content on

Since Macbeth causes the entire situation "he must end in destruction and despair" (Ribner 57). At
the end of the play when Macbeth ends in 'destruction and despair ', Scotland is finally "cured" and
order is restored. The natural order of the universe is also re–established because Malcolm replaces
Macbeth 's position as King. Scotland is no longer ruled by Macbeth 's tyranny; instead it is ruled by
Malcolm, an extremely honourable man: Nay, had I power, I should Pour the sweet milk of concord
into hell, Uproar the universal peace, confound All unity on earth. (Shakespeare 4.3.109–112)
Although Malcolm may not appear to be virtuous in this scene, he is very much so. At the beginning
of the play, Duncan does not test the loyalty of Macdonwald and Macbeth. As a result, Duncan is
betrayed by these two men who appeared to be honourable. Malcolm learns from his father 's
mistakes and tests MacDuff 's patriotism. Malcolm states he does not contain any qualities of a
virtuous king and that he would destroy all peace on earth. When MacDuff has a passionate
outburst, Malcolm reveals the truth that he is in fact an honourable man because he is able to
identify that MacDuff is a "child of integrity" (Shakespeare 4.3.129). This proves that Malcolm is in
fact a virtuous king because he is not easily fooled like Duncan. Instead, Malcolm is a cautious and
knowledgeable man who is likely to be a successful king. With a new honourable and sincerely

Motivation In Macbeth
Duncan is king as the first scene unfolds to represent the order and righteousness with which
Scotland is being ruled. This serves as a stark contrast between what Macbeth brings to Scotland
after his murder of Duncan and rise to the throne.
Malcolm, as Duncan's son, mourns when his father is murdered, but also fears for his own life and
reputations. He plays an important part in Macbeth when he returns with the English army to restore
order and good leadership to his country.
Donalbain also flees Scotland after his father's murder, but his continuing absence later in the story
presents mystery and gives insight into how strongly fear can affect one's actions.

He is also promised good fortune by the three witches, but his peaceful and righteous reaction
corresponds poorly with Macbeth's greed. He is yet another of Macbeth's new enemies, and his
murder spins a greater web of deceit and guilt around Macbeth.
Macduff is at first merely introduced as another Scottish nobleman, but his role in the story takes a
more significant turn when he seeks revenge after Macbeth murders his family. He is revealed as the
only one able to kill Macbeth, and his succes in doing so finally ends the story's treachery.
Ross and Lennox are noblemen of Scotland who at first know nothing of Macbeth's greedy
ambitions. As he ascends to the throne and creates a tyranny of Scotland, their suspicion is aroused
and they link forces with Macduff and Malcolm to bring justice Macbeth and prosperity to Scotland.
Fleance is only a minor character, but his father's legacy lives on because of his escape from the
murderers. He is the key to the witches' prophecy being fulfilled, and his claiming of the Scottish
throne is the crux of Banquo's line of kings.

What Is Power And Ambition In Macbeth
The Tragedy of Macbeth, the dark and bloody tragedy written by William Shakespeare, reveals the
story of Macbeth, a Scottish noble and general, who is visited by a trio of witches. The three witches
present a prophecy that triggers unwanted thoughts and actions, enabling Macbeth to grow from fear
and cowardice from evil doings to tyranny. This tragic play contains numerous themes, motifs, and
symbols. One of these themes is power and ambition. Power is the ability to direct or influence
people or things ("Power"). Ambition is the strong desire to do, achieve or obtain things
("Ambition"). Power and ambition is frequently revealed in the play by the thoughts and actions of
the two main characters, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth.
The prophecy, told ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The prophecy told by the sinister witches is what established the violent thoughts and actions of
Macbeth. Aside from the prophecy, Lady Macbeth and the thought and desire for power contributed
to the tragedy. These driving forces fueled his ambitions and eventually it spiraled out of control
causing the insanity and death of the couple. Macbeth became a cold–blooded tyrant and Lady
Macbeth encouraged it. They eliminated anyone or anything that seemed to be a threat to Macbeth's
title as king of Scotland. Once an immoral act was done to strengthen and intensify their power over
Scotland and its people, it was difficult to stop or undo. Macbeth committed murder after murder to
cover his previous wrongdoings, but it made everything worse. All of the evil deeds that Macbeth
and Lady Macbeth has done for power came with consequences, whether it was physical, mental, or
emotional consequences. In The Tragedy of Macbeth, power and ambition is presented as a
dangerous quality. It caused the series of multiple deaths, including the death and downfall of the
two main characters, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. They were destroyed by their impulsive ambition

The Real Macbeth
William Shakespeare wrote many plays in his lifetime based on historic events that he had
researched using a history books from various authors. One of these many plays are the Tragedy of
Macbeth, which Shakespeare did his research from the Chronicles of England, Scotland, and Ireland
by Raphael Holinshed. Shakespeare stayed true to the history retold by Holinshed in his play
Macbeth, but unfortunately Holinshed's Chronicles of England, Scotland, and Ireland contained
false information. Since some of the information was false in Shakespeare's research, his account of
Macbeth's characters, setting, and events also contain differences from the factual historic accounts.

In the play Banquo is killed by murders hired by Macbeth, because Banquo is thought to know of
Macbeth's wicked deed "O, treachery! Fly, good Fleance, fly, fly, fly! Thou mayst revenge. O slave"
these are the last words Banquo says in the play for he is telling his son Fleance to flee (Macbeth
p.343 ll.18–19). In Shakespeare's account Banquo is a righteous nobleman whom Macbeth has
killed because he fears Banquo knows what he has done and because Banquo's son Fleance was to
become king of Scotland Macbeth had the murderers attempt to kill him too, but there is no historic
account of Banquo ever existing (Thrasher pp. 37–39). The Tragedy of Macbeth is set in medieval
Scotland where it begins with the reign of Duncan the first, at the end a great battle between
Scotland and Norway "That now Sweno, The Norway's king, craves composition; Nor would we
deign him burial of his men Till he disbursed, at Saint Colme's Inch," (Macbeth p.305 ll.58–61) This
setting is plausible because Scotland had many enemies which they were having wars with during
this time such as the Norwegians, Danish, and the English (Thrasher p.36). Then as the play
progresses the scenes change between Scotland and London, England with Macbeth ruling Scotland
and Malcolm the Third hiding in England. "Malcolm and Donalbain, the king's two sons, are stol'n
away and fled, which puts upon them Suspicion of the deed" this shows that Malcolm and his
brother fled after the murder of their father Duncan (Macbeth

The Last King Of Scotland Essay
Despite all the sufferings and distorted decisions made throughout the film, The Last King of
Scotland, ethical behaviors are, in fact, evident as well. The Last King of Scotland is a film based on
a fictional story of Nicholas Garrigan. Characters within the film possess various qualities and make
certain decisions that inevitably proves their behaviors as ethical. Although there were extremely
dreadful and horrifying scenes that showed how monstrous people have the ability to be, with
respect to the ethicist, Aristotle, the ethical experience of obligation, as well as the teaching of the
church of the 8 beatitudes, it is conclusive that ethical behavior is evident in the film, The Last King
of Scotland. Dr. Junju was an ethical doctor in Uganda, who had worked with Dr. Garrigan. While

Macbeth: The Murder Of King Duncan
INVERNESS – Last night, while sleeping at Inverness in the castle of Macbeth, Thane of Cawdor
and Glamis, the King of Scotland, was slaughtered in an apparent murder–suicide. Several nobles
and Thanes – Macbeth, Macduff, Banquo, Lennox – and the sons' of the King, Malcolm and
Donaldbain, discovered the lifeless King Duncan the following morning. Found dead adjacent to
King Duncan were his two chamberlains, who appear to have killed the King before taking their
own life.
At the conclusion of a hazy, drunken night, King Duncan proceeded to his chamber in Macbeth's
castle, to which King Duncan was a guest for the evening. As it has turned out, that night would be
his last. King Duncan was then discovered the following morning, as Macduff, Thane ... Show more

Even more curious is the reaction of these two individuals. According to Macduff, at the beginning
of the day, when asked about Duncan, Macbeth stated he had yet to wake. Moments later, following
the discovery of the dead chamberlains and King Duncan, Macbeth claimed to have killed the
chamberlains, but "repent[ed] me of my fury/ That I did kill them" (II.iii.102–103). This strange turn
of events has led some to question Macbeth's story, especially as he prepares for his coronation as
the next King of Scotland. One of Macbeth's closest affiliated, Banquo, reported he "feared/ Thou
(Macbeth) playd'st most foully for't", having been the one behind the murder of the King (III.i.2–3).
In Macbeth's eyes however, Malcolm and Donaldbain are the prime suspects. Macbeth stated that
the boys "are bestow'd/ In England and in Ireland, not confessing/ Their cruel parricide [and] filling
their hearers/ With strange invention" about their father's assassination

Murder in the Castle, an Inside Look at the Death of King Duncan I of Scotland
Last night, King Duncan I of Scotland was murdered in his chamber. The king was staying at the
castle of his Thane, Lord Macbeth, on the night of his murder. King Duncan had been attending a
party that Lord Macbeth had arranged for him and his sons.
All of Scotland is in mourning for the murder of their beloved king, but everyone wants to know
who committed this foul deed, and why did they do this to their king? In this newspaper is
everything that we know at this time.
When we interviewed Macbeth, he said that at one point in the night he had woken up and went
outside of his room. As he approached the king's room, he saw two guards sleeping outside the door.
Looking closer, he saw that the guards were holding their daggers, and that both of their daggers
were full of blood and their clothes were also covered in blood. From this, he deduced that they
must have killed the king. When he saw this, Macbeth could not stop himself from killing the
guards. This is just one story from a witness; we cannot be sure whether or not Macbeth is actually
telling the truth, but if he is, then this is a wild story, indeed. The question is, was King Duncan
actually killed by his own guards, or is this a cover up. Why would Duncan's own guards kill him?
The more likely explanation is that Macbeth is lying, and that the evidence was planted to cover the
truth. But, without a confession, how could anyone ever know.

Manipulation In The Last King Of Scotland
The Last King Of Scotland Politics is always an act of manipulation and there may be a dissonance
between the public persona of a leader and the ruthless actuality of their lives. Kevin Macdonald's
2006 political biopic film The Last King of Scotland is based on political and personal events
throughout the narcissistic Adi Amin's despotic, traumatic and destructive rule of Uganda during the
1970s. It shows two different representations of Amin: one that manipulates his public persona as
someone who works for and with the people and the other as someone ruthless who will manipulate
anyone to stay in power. The film is also an act of manipulation as we witness these events through
the perspective of the politically naïve and altruistic eyes of Nick Garrigan. The director aims to
manipulate the audience to see Amin through fresh eyes as we simultaneously witness Amin's
attempts to position the people of Uganda. In the opening sequence we see the main character,
Nicholas, a newly graduated Scottish doctor, shown as a political outsider oblivious to the ... Show

influences us to view Idi Amin's as a man with charm, despite his contemporary reputation as a
psychotic. Amin's charisma is also very well portrayed during his speeches to a large mass of
people, where he exhorts them, "together we will make this country better... and stronger ... and

Paradox Of Loyalty In Macbeth
Society perceives loyalty as a strong feeling of support and allegiance. This is compromised when
loyalties end up in deception. For the most part, everyone has good intentions in our relationships
and life goals; however, sometimes our self–desires and devotions can contradict our true values of
loyalty. In William Shakespeare's play "Macbeth," loyalty was demonstrated by the following
characters, which ultimately ends in betrayal to either to themselves or others. Macbeth expresses
great loyalty to Duncan, but ironically, decides to murder him for sovereignty. Banquo is loyal to
Macbeth by staying quiet about his suspicions; however, it unintentionally betrayals Duncan and
Scotland. Macduff is a hard worker in his family by serving Scotland, but ironically he leaves his
family unprotected leading to their deaths. In Macbeth, the paradox between loyalty and betrayal is
ironic. Ironically, their initial loyalties bring about betrayal, ultimately causing the death of
characters. Thus, those who value loyalty must understand the consequences of their actions.
Selfish desires and ambitions can have great sovereignty over one's actions as their thirst for power
only grows. In the play, a loyal, honourable hero transforms into an evil murderer which is driven by
his greed and ambition. Macbeth is portrayed as a brave, loyal and courageous nobleman who is
incapable of committing evil deeds. Nevertheless, this changes when the witches prophecies are
introduced which causes macbeth to think about his aspirations for power and his nobility ranking.
He betrays king Duncan when he kills him and obtains the Scottish throne for himself. An example
of his loyalty in the beginning of the play in the place when king Duncan thanks Macbeth for his
bravery and victory in the battle; Macbeth responds and says, "The service and loyalty I owe, In
doing it, pays itself. Your Highness' part is to receive our duties, and our duties are to your throne
and state children and servants. Which do what they should, by doing everything safe toward your
love and honour" (I, iv, 25–30). Macbeth is pleading a great deal of loyalty by expressing that
serving him is its own reward and it is Duncan's duty is to accept what he owes him. This

Hadrian's Wall: A Very Brief History Of Scotland
The history of Scotland, in regards to this application, began in 1st Century AD. The Romans had
landed in the British Isles not long prior, and had overwhelmed a significant amount of southern
Britain. However, they had been unable to take most of Scotland, only staking a claim to the Firth of
Forth in the southern part of the territory. The Romans suffered constant raids from the Picts,
(Scots,) and so during a visit to Britannia in 122 AD, Emperor Hadrian decided that the best course
of action would be to build a wall, (known as Hadrian's Wall,) to prevent Scottish raids. Merely 20
years later, it was decided by Emperor Antoninus Pius that a wall further north, the Antonine Wall,
was to be built, and this marked the northern border of the Roman Empire for 8 years before the
Roman forces retreated to Hadrian's wall. Despite several small invasion attempts by the Romans,
the various tribes did not lose much, if any land. This state of affairs continued until around the 5th
century and the collapse of the Roman Empire.

Apparition In Macbeth
Act four of Shakespeare's Macbeth develops several key factors that unfold in the final scene. In the
beginning of the Act, Macbeth speaks to the witches to secure his sense of security as King. The
witches deceive Macbeth and make him believe that he can: spurn fate, scorn death, and they cause
him to bear false hope. The witches trick Macbeth into thinking his position as King is secure
through four double–meaning apparitions. The third apparition is an illusion of "a king /[That]
[wore] upon his baby–brow the round/ And top of sovereignty" (4. 1. 88–90). The third apparition
was symbolic of Malcolm, the child who was the rightful King of Scotland. After Malcom's father,
Duncan, was murdered Malcolm fled his homeland and sought safety in England. In Malcolm's
absence, Macbeth terrorized Scotland and even those in Macbeth's inner circle were forced to take
desperate measures. Macduff journeyed to England "to pray the holy king, upon his aid" (3. 6. 30)
because Macbeth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Malcolm stated that the "tyrant, whose sole name blisters" (4. 3. 12) was "once thought honest" (4.

"loved [Macbeth] well" (4. 3.12) and Macbeth had "not touch'd [Macduff]" (4.3.13). Macduff even
left his family in Scotland within Macbeth's reach. Malcolm proposed the idea that although he was
young, Macduff may offer him as a "weak, poor, innocent lamb/ T'appease an angry god" (4.3. 15–
17). Malcolm's insinuations offend Macduff who protested that he was not treacherous; however,
Malcolm wisely says that any good man in "virtuous nature may recoil/ [Under] an imperial charge"
(4. 3. 19–20), after all, "Angels are bright, still though the brightest fell" (4. 3. 22). Malcolm was not
upset with Macduff, and he did not mean to dishonor him, Malcolm questioned Macduff's loyalty to
Macbeth "for [his] own safeties" (4. 3.

Effects Of Betrayal In Macbeth
Betrayal: the disloyal action that results in the ultimate feeling of hurt. For there to be betrayal, there
must be trust; the breaking of trust is the ultimate way of betrayal. It spurs upon the influence of
others and is provoked by the ambitious mind. To fulfill one's desires, betrayal is an action that is
easy to perform. This concept is exhibited in William Shakespeare's play, Macbeth, as the
implications of betrayal lead the main character, Macbeth, to his downfall. With the influence of the
three evil witches, Macbeth is easily convinced about his auspicious future, causing him to
overconfident himself and commit a betrayal that eventually results in one that he experiences. The

His infidelity breaks the trust between him and Duncan because of his immense betrayal to not only
the King, but to the country of Scotland. He quickly becomes a man whom Duncan could no longer
rely upon, for this reason, Duncan awards the title to a noble and courageous soldier, Macbeth.
Dramatic irony is presented in this line because as Duncan is addressing the unfaithfulness of the old
thane, it is followed by the entry of Macbeth to the scene, a man who later misuses his power to
betray the King. To Duncan, Macbeth, the Thane of Glamis, is appeared to be virtuous and
courageous because of his heroic performance in the battle for defeating the opponent, Macdonwald.
The King demonstrates his satisfaction towards Macbeth through a conversation with Banquo. He
describes Macbeth as "full so valiant, And in his commendations [King Duncan is] fed; It is a
banquet to [him]... It is a peerless kinsman." (1.4.56–60). In this speech, King Duncan truly admires
Macbeth's valiancy and describes him as a man without equal. He congratulates Macbeth for his
courage on the battlefield and as followed by the witches' prophecies of Macbeth, "...All hail,
Macbeth, hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor..." (1.3.50), he replaces and becomes the new Thane of
Cawdor. This speech reveals the gullible nature of Duncan who once trusted the old thane and anew,
believes the new thane will be loyal to the country. By all means, Duncan is clueless of

Macbeth Book Vs Movie Essay
In the story of Macbeth and the film was a very amazing story I have ever read about Shakespeare.
It was very interesting how this story was told depending on the time where must of the things that
have been written in this story match with the ancient beliefs and experiences people had to go
through. For example the fact that many people believe in the prophecies of the witches.
In this story we see how Macbeth was a good example of trust with the witches to fulfill his desire
of becoming a king as the witches had manifest to him. In the film we can see many things that were
told in the story, also while watching the film of Macbeth I find out there was many parts of the film
that was so different from the book. One of the main differences ... Show more content on

Suddenly after Duncan wakes up and sees Macbeth next to his bed, he then starts freaking out and
when he sees Macbeth caring a dagger in his hand and stats yelling for help. Macbeth then kills
Duncan brutally before he leaves the room. In the story it was mentioned how Macbeth kill him
while sleeping. The difference is that in the book they never mention having Duncan wake up to see
Macbeth next to his bed with the dagger in his hand. It was also believe that Macbeth didn't kill him
brutally as it made it seem in the movie.
Lastly but not least the last thing I would like to point out in this story is in the ending of the story in
the book. Malcolm is the last person to talk here in the story after he becomes king of Scotland. He
talks about the new era for the people of Scotland and how he will find a way to clear everything
wrong Macbeth did while reign he mentions that things will get better in Scotland. In the film the
story shows us that the story of Macbeth might not be over. In the film it shows how a new man
who's name is Malcolm who visits the wishes and it is believe that the story might will continue
with the new character of Macbeth willing to become king as it was told of Macbeth.

King James was born on June 19, 1566 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Known as James VI, he was the

The Effects of Unwise Decisions in William Shakespeare's...
People can be easily manipulated into making foul decisions. In William Shakespeare's play
Macbeth, brave Macbeth makes unwise decisions that affect his entire way of living. He starts off
the play as a noble warrior and progressively evolves into an evil tyrant. He is accompanied through
part of the play by his wife Lady Macbeth, and she is part of the reason why this loyal man starts to
change. She manipulates Macbeth into killing Duncan for her own personal gain. Throughout the
play, it is shown how Macbeth destroys everything around him because of his avaricious motives.
Shakespeare illustrates the evils of greed as Macbeth transforms from a loyal subject, to a
remorseful murderer, and finally to a paranoid and overconfident tyrant.
In the beginning of the play, Macbeth proves that he is a loyal warrior by defending Scotland against
the army of Norway. Macbeth is in the front lines cutting down anyone in his path. He held off
Norway's army for so long that they started to fall back, but Macbeth was not finished. When asked
to report on the battle, the captain of Scotland's army tells the king that " brave Macbeth . .
..unseamed him [Macdonwald] from the nave to th' chops, / And fixed his head upon our
battlements" (1.2.16,22–23). Duncan is amazed to hear of what Macbeth has been doing during the
war, and especially his victory over Macdonwald. When the battle is finally over and victory has
fallen on Scotland, Ross, the king's messenger, gives the king the final

Chain In Macbeth
In the play Macbeth written by William Shakespeare the idea of the Great Chain of being can be
viewed by the audiences clearly. In the Elizabethan era it was thought that all the creations were
seen as a logical progression from light, to water, to earth, to planets, animals and lastly humans.
This particular sense of order has a fixed place in hierarchy of the reality. In this play a noble hero
Macbeth breaks the chain of being. Likewise, in the movie the Last King of Scotland directed by
Kevin Mac Donald tells the viewers that that a general soldier named Idi Amin became a President

To support, Macbeth wants to become a king and to do so he was aware that he has to kill Duncan
according to the prophecy of witches. Banquo I says, "dreamt last night of the three weird sisters: To
you they have showed some truth" (II.i.19–20). Macbeth replies, "I Think not of them" (II.i.21). The
above quotes taken from the play helps one to understand that Banquo is curious to know about
Macbeth's opinion regarding the prophecy but he lies to his friend. Macbeth does not want Banquo
to be conscious of his haste to become a king and the fact that the predictions are extremely
significant for him. This is clearly a lie because one was able to notice in the play that Macbeth and
Lady Macbeth have already plot a plan against the King Duncan but hesitate to tell Banquo as he
cannot resist anything against the King. Moreover, Idi Amin also lie for greed to his nation before
becoming a President. To analyze, initially in the movie The last King of Scotland Idi Amin seems
very promising to his nation he witnesses a better future and better land for the people in Uganda.
As the time pass by, he does contradictory to his spoken words. He is a greedy man who sends the
Ugandans money towards the military aid due to which his people suffers from economic horror. In
short, Greed and lying are the two events which outcomes when one breaks the chain of being.

The Tragedy Of Macbeth By William Shakespeare
Whenever mankind knows that there is something better in store for them in the future, they begin
seeking out the quickest way to that goal as soon as possible, as depicted in The Tragedy of Macbeth
by Shakespeare. He acquires two prophecies from the witches, one already come into being and the
other, becoming king, yet to occur. He fights menacing urges but eventually succumbs to them; thus,
throughout the play, Macbeth transforms from an honorary soldier in Scotland to a ghastly tyrant.
Macbeth becomes power hungry because of the prophecy, and as a result, decides to kill the current
King Duncan to fulfill his hunger. Shakespeare employs eye and hand imagery to explore the
psychological consequences of sin that devour Macbeth's sanity and transform him into an unstable,
psychotic ruler.
A war breaks out between Scotland, Norway and Hebrides. Macbeth, the Thane of Glamis and a
general in King Duncan's army, fights in the name of the Scotland. According to a sergeant, when
Macbeth faces the enemy, Macdonwald– leader of the rebel army–he " ne'er shook hands, nor bade
farewell to him,/ Till he unseam'd him from the nave to the chaps,/ And fix'd his head upon our
battlements" (1.2.23–25). Before Macbeth eliminates Macdonwald, he does not waste time letting
Macdonwald shake hands with him, which means that he does not trust the leader of the rebel army,
hands signifying trust. The nave implies rebirth and chaps represent determination and strength.

The Three Witches In William Shakespeare's Macbeth
The story begins where Macbeth and Banquo have just returned from war. The three witches appear
and inform them that Macbeth will be Thane of Cawdor and soon enough King of Scotland. They
also inform Banquo that he will beget a long line of kings. After that Macbeth is crowned Thane of
Cawdor by King Duncan. He tells Lady Macbeth what the witches told him and she takes control of
the situation by forcing him to murder King Duncan in his own castle. Lord Macduff, Thane of Fife
happened to be staying at Macbeths castle the same night as King Duncan. Macduff was asleep
when he was awoken by a strange noise. He wasn't quite sure what it was so, he went to investigate.
As he exited his chambers he noticed a strange light flickering in King Duncan's room. Then all of
the sudden it went out. He could only assume it was a candle but who could be awake at this time?
As he approached King Duncan's room he saw that the guards who were there last night were
nowhere to be found. He turned into the room and there lay King Duncan dead in his bed. Macduff
is stuck in awe and the three witches appear before him. The first one tells him that Banquo will

Similarities Between Macbeth And The War Of Three Henrys
Throughout history, books were written based on past experiences whether it was the author's own
or just plain history. Before books, stories were passed down through generations based off of
history. For example, Macbeth by William Shakespeare was based of 11th century Scotland, the
Kingdom of Alba, and emulated its struggle for power. The elements of Macbeth and power struggle
can be seen in other parts of history like during the War of Three Henrys as they were fighting for
the throne. The struggle for power can also be seen over battles for land like the Israeli–Palestinian
conflict. Reading Shakespeare's Macbeth through the historical lens, highlights how elements of
Macbeth and the struggle for power within the play mirror the history ... Show more content on

Britannica talks about the conflict and explains,"The first war immediately followed Israel's
proclamation of statehood on May 14, 1948. Arab forces from Egypt, Transjordan (Jordan), Iraq,
Syria, and Lebanon occupied the areas in southern and eastern Palestine not apportioned to the Jews
by the United Nations (UN) partition of Palestine and then captured east Jerusalem, including the
small Jewish quarter of the Old City, in an effort to forestall the creation of a Jewish state in
Palestine." (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica). Through this, it is seen that much like
Macbeth, the war over Israel and Palestine was and is still a power struggle as they have been
fighting over the land since 1948. In Macbeth, they praised Macbeth by saying, "All hail, Macbeth,
thou shalt be king hereafter! Thou shalt get kings, though thou be none. So all hail, Macbeth and
Banquo!" (Shakespeare I.3.70–71). They hailed him as King and Banquo as his second hand, but
because of the struggle for power, Macbeth had Banquo killed to have no threats to the throne. The
religions of Judaism and Islam motivate the Israelis and Palestinians just as how Lady Macbeth
convinced Macbeth. They are fighting for that land for their religion and no other reason. In
Macbeth, Macbeth may not have killed King Duncan if it had not been for Lady Macbeth's
persuasion. Much like Israel, Macbeth lacked

Violence In Macbeth
The Tale Of Macbion that I have created is based on the famous play of William Shakespeare
Macbeth. Since the play was written in Old English challenging for children ages of 5–7 years, I
recreated the story to make it more children–friendly. Macbeth revolves around killing and graphic
imagery of blood. This is not suitable for a younger audience as their mindsets will be affected by
such violence in the play. The first change I made was instead of Macbeth murdering King Duncan
by a dagger, Macbeth feeds King Duncan rotten bananas disguised as fresh bananas, who has to
leave the city to find a cure. This was a non–violent option because he doesn't die, this would have
been inappropriate for a younger audience. Another example is how Macbeth ... Show more content

Throughout the entire play, Macbeth's greed clouds his perception which leads to his destruction in
the play. The example is when Macbeth is Thane of Glamis and Cawdor, and the general of the army
he still seeks for more power. Macbeth's pure greed for becoming the King is out of control which
results in the actions taken by him. Banquo's prophecies also concerned Macbeth since Banquo will
have heirs to the throne. He put his reign over a good friendship with Banquo, so he killed Banquo
as well. Macbeth's lust for the ultimate prize of becoming the King of Scotland affected his
relationships. "Stars hide your fires; Let not light see my black and deep desires" (Macbeth 1.4.57–
58). This quote illustrates Macbeth's greed thoroughly. Macbeth is seen referring that how his true
real intentions of becoming a King of Scotland and having more power are kept a dark secret from
everyone. "I grant him bloody, Luxurious, avaricious, false, deceitful, Sudden, malicious, smacking
of every sin that has a name." (Macbeth 4.3.67–69). This quote shows how greedy Macbeth is and
someone who contains evil last bit there ever could be. Both Malcolm and Macduff had realized that
he was deceiving everyone while living the luxurious lifestyle as a king. They relate his personality
and actions to the one word which describes him the best

Analysis Of The Last King Of Scotland: The Ethics Of Race...
Picasso, Van Gogh, Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Titian, Monet, Rembrandt, Raphael, Warhol and

they are all men. The general public could name several of these men before they could name a
single female or minority artist of equal stature. The truth is that all historically great artists are
white men. To a modern western society that champions racial and gender equality this statement
screams injustice, as it should. To combat this injustice society is faced with two options; either

Presently some aspiring artists are denied the training and platform necessary to develop their talent
while other artists are forced to not only be artists but also activists and public figures. In her article
Why Are There No Great Woman Artists, Linda Nocklin poses an eye opening question. She say,
"Would Senor Ruiz have paid as much attention or stimulated as much ambition for achievement if
Picasso had been a girl?" In the history of art talent has been stunted because the talented artist was
either a woman or a racial minority. To move forward as a society artists must be accepted with open
arms regardless of their race or gender. To create an environment that encourages artistic endeavors
regardless of race and gender, racial and gender issues must not be taboo in the classroom. Students
must learn how to overcome their differences and celebrate their diversity. Studying art and the
shortcomings of diversity that art has experienced can open the minds of students. Leo Marx
addresses this concept in his article Huck at 100. He advises that racial issues should be discussed in
the classroom, but that they must be handled with care and sensitivity. It is incredibly important to
the future success of art that art's "White men's club" be a thing of the past. Encouraging the talent
of the future is imperative. It is also crucial though

Restoration Of Order In Macbeth
It's within the innate nature of the world to experience the progression of order to disorder. And only
sometimes does a restoration occur to repair the damage and reestablish the peace.
William Shakespeare's, Macbeth, highlights the restoration and establishment of order. This
establishment is seen within three key characters within the play: King Duncan, Malcolm, and
Macduff.
The play opens under the original reign of King Duncan, a great ruler to his people and all of

all his loyal subjects. This reign of order did not last long into the play before his murder at the

Essay on Historical Macbeth Compared To Shakespeares Macbeth
Although most of Shakespeare's play " Mac Beth " is not historically accurate,
MacBeth's life is the subject of the tragedy. There are characters and events that are based on true
events and real persons but, Shakespeare's "MacBeth " differs significantly from
history's MacBeth. The first example of a difference between the Shakespeare
"MacBeth" and historical Mac Beth is the death of Duncan I. In Shakespeare's "
Mac Beth ", Duncan I was murdered by MacBeth.

infants and we have no responsibilities and experiences. At the beginning of the play, order is
represented as the witch's prophecy. However, this order gets disrupted by Duncan's killing. Order
does get restored at the end of the play when Macbeth is decapitated and Malcolm is crowned king.
In this play, disruption of order can lead to progress.
At the beginning of the play, the witch's three prophecies represent the order established in the play.
The first two of the three prophecies regard Macbeth being named the Thane of Cawdor and then

This

Inverness Castle, the Macbeth residence on Friday Evening– Breaking news, the honorable King
Duncan of Scotland was found dead in his sleep with multiple stab wounds to the chest. Watchmen
have yet to identify who committed such a horrendous felony. The locals of Scotland are in utter
shock and awe of the tragic events that took place last night. The great lands of Scotland are still
with the breaths of the helpless citizens that don't know what to do now that the king is dead. As
loyal citizens they all want the death of the king to be avenged. As of this morning, at approximately
6:05 A.M., there still aren't many actions taken place to bring this death to justice, but there is a

They all just looked at each other not knowing what to do with themselves. After what just happen,
not many people would know what to do with themselves. The time was now 7:20 A.M. and they all
began to walk out of the castle in distress and all of Scotland was waiting to hail Macbeth as the new
king of Scotland, as they had already known that King Duncan was dead. Little did they know the
events that occurred right behind those large, gated doors. Each of them walked out, Macbeth
walking out first, with his wife by his side, Macduff following, then Banquo, and then Angus. The
crowds eyes were wondering, where is Ross?, Why are there only five royal subjects, and not six?
The five that did remain knew that Ross was killed inside of that castle. The crowd swarmed
Macbeth and the others asking them where is Ross? What happened in there? All of them were to
flustered to answer any questions regarding what happened in that dungeon. Minutes had gone by of
this, and all of a sudden Lady Macbeth yelled out that Ross is dead, and no one knows what
happened because it was dark, anything could've happened in there! We don't know if one of them
killed him in that room or he killed himself! The crowd was stunned, taken aback by the dreadful
news that Lady Macbeth just uttered. There were reporters every ready with questions to ask each
and every one of them. On one side there was Macduff struggling to get the words out of his mouth
to answer the question, then there was Banquo about to pass out from the pain in his thigh, and
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth telling everyone to back away, and leave them be during these tough
times in Scotland. No other information was reported but it seemed the five still alive were taken by
the authorities, but Macbeth and Lady Macbeth were taken to Scone to crowned as

Macbeth
Synopsis
Macbeth is a play about a Scottish nobleman who learns, from a prophecy given to him by three
witches, that he is to become king. When Macbeth's ambition overcomes his moral judgement, he
assassinates the reigning king and fulfils the prophecy. In doing so, however, he undermines his own
rule with insecurity – insecurity he created when he upset the natural succession to the throne.
Beheaded in battle, Macbeth's death allows the rightful heir to reclaim the throne and order is
restored.
Historical background
The play is set in Scotland and the characters' names, including Duncan, Macbeth, Malcolm and
Siward, are based on the names of real 11th century British figures. Although Duncan and Macbeth
were both kings in life as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the beginning there were rumours that Shakespeare had used real incantations for the witches'
scenes, which could have been enough to perpetuate the idea of a curse.
Even without real incantations, the supernatural concepts could have been enough to suggest a
curse.
Historians have also documented a number of accidents that have occurred in the staging of the play,
from prop daggers switched with real daggers to cast illnesses and venue–related catastrophes. Other
productions have suffered crippling reviews, or critics have savaged the actor playing Macbeth.
The most enduring reason, however, is that because Macbeth is the shortest of Shakespeare's
tragedies and popular with audiences, a theatre would stage the play if it were in financial trouble. A
production of Macbeth therefore meant that it was a last–ditch effort to save an ailing venue or
company, an indication of impending

A Thousand Splendid Suns Reivew

  • 1. A Thousand Splendid Suns Reivew Macbeth is a Shakespearean Tragedy Macbeth is considered to be one of the greatest Shakespearean tragedies written by William Shakespeare. According to A.C. Bradley, it is the "most vehement, the most concentrated, perhaps we may say the most tremendous, of the tragedies" (Bradley 333). Macbeth, written by Shakespeare is a Shakespearean tragedy because it has a tragic hero, mathemata, and a hamartia. These three characteristics are crucial to have in a Shakespearean tragedy and prove that Macbeth is indeed one. More specifically, the tragic hero is one of the most important of the three because without the hero, sympathy cannot be evoked. Macbeth is a tragedy because it contains a tragic hero. In a Shakespearean tragedy, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since Macbeth causes the entire situation "he must end in destruction and despair" (Ribner 57). At the end of the play when Macbeth ends in 'destruction and despair ', Scotland is finally "cured" and order is restored. The natural order of the universe is also re–established because Malcolm replaces Macbeth 's position as King. Scotland is no longer ruled by Macbeth 's tyranny; instead it is ruled by Malcolm, an extremely honourable man: Nay, had I power, I should Pour the sweet milk of concord into hell, Uproar the universal peace, confound All unity on earth. (Shakespeare 4.3.109–112) Although Malcolm may not appear to be virtuous in this scene, he is very much so. At the beginning of the play, Duncan does not test the loyalty of Macdonwald and Macbeth. As a result, Duncan is betrayed by these two men who appeared to be honourable. Malcolm learns from his father 's mistakes and tests MacDuff 's patriotism. Malcolm states he does not contain any qualities of a virtuous king and that he would destroy all peace on earth. When MacDuff has a passionate outburst, Malcolm reveals the truth that he is in fact an honourable man because he is able to identify that MacDuff is a "child of integrity" (Shakespeare 4.3.129). This proves that Malcolm is in fact a virtuous king because he is not easily fooled like Duncan. Instead, Malcolm is a cautious and knowledgeable man who is likely to be a successful king. • 3. Motivation In Macbeth Duncan is king as the first scene unfolds to represent the order and righteousness with which Scotland is being ruled. This serves as a stark contrast between what Macbeth brings to Scotland after his murder of Duncan and rise to the throne. Malcolm, as Duncan's son, mourns when his father is murdered, but also fears for his own life and reputations. He plays an important part in Macbeth when he returns with the English army to restore order and good leadership to his country. Donalbain also flees Scotland after his father's murder, but his continuing absence later in the story presents mystery and gives insight into how strongly fear can affect one's actions. He is also promised good fortune by the three witches, but his peaceful and righteous reaction corresponds poorly with Macbeth's greed. He is yet another of Macbeth's new enemies, and his murder spins a greater web of deceit and guilt around Macbeth. Macduff is at first merely introduced as another Scottish nobleman, but his role in the story takes a more significant turn when he seeks revenge after Macbeth murders his family. He is revealed as the only one able to kill Macbeth, and his succes in doing so finally ends the story's treachery. Ross and Lennox are noblemen of Scotland who at first know nothing of Macbeth's greedy ambitions. As he ascends to the throne and creates a tyranny of Scotland, their suspicion is aroused and they link forces with Macduff and Malcolm to bring justice Macbeth and prosperity to Scotland. Fleance is only a minor character, but his father's legacy lives on because of his escape from the murderers. He is the key to the witches' prophecy being fulfilled, and his claiming of the Scottish throne is the crux of Banquo's line of kings. What Is Power And Ambition In Macbeth The Tragedy of Macbeth, the dark and bloody tragedy written by William Shakespeare, reveals the story of Macbeth, a Scottish noble and general, who is visited by a trio of witches. The three witches present a prophecy that triggers unwanted thoughts and actions, enabling Macbeth to grow from fear and cowardice from evil doings to tyranny. This tragic play contains numerous themes, motifs, and symbols. One of these themes is power and ambition. Power is the ability to direct or influence people or things ("Power"). The prophecy told by the sinister witches is what established the violent thoughts and actions of Macbeth. Aside from the prophecy, Lady Macbeth and the thought and desire for power contributed to the tragedy. They eliminated anyone or anything that seemed to be a threat to Macbeth's title as king of Scotland. Once an immoral act was done to strengthen and intensify their power over Scotland and its people, it was difficult to stop or undo. Macbeth committed murder after murder to cover his previous wrongdoings, but it made everything worse. One of these many plays are the Tragedy of Macbeth, which Shakespeare did his research from the Chronicles of England, Scotland, and Ireland by Raphael Holinshed. Shakespeare stayed true to the history retold by Holinshed in his play Macbeth, but unfortunately Holinshed's Chronicles of England, Scotland, and Ireland contained false information. In the play Banquo is killed by murders hired by Macbeth, because Banquo is thought to know of Macbeth's wicked deed "O, treachery! Fly, good Fleance, fly, fly, fly! Thou mayst revenge. In Shakespeare's account Banquo is a righteous nobleman whom Macbeth has killed because he fears Banquo knows what he has done and because Banquo's son Fleance was to become king of Scotland Macbeth had the murderers attempt to kill him too, but there is no historic account of Banquo ever existing (Thrasher pp. 37–39). The Tragedy of Macbeth is set in medieval Scotland where it begins with the reign of Duncan the first, at the end a great battle between Scotland and Norway "That now Sweno, The Norway's king, craves composition; Nor would we deign him burial of his men Till he disbursed, at Saint Colme's Inch," (Macbeth p.305 ll.58–61) This setting is plausible because Scotland had many enemies which they were having wars with during this time such as the Norwegians, Danish, and the English (Thrasher p.36). Then as the play progresses the scenes change between Scotland and London, England with Macbeth ruling Scotland and Malcolm the Third hiding in England. Moments later, following the discovery of the dead chamberlains and King Duncan, Macbeth claimed to have killed the chamberlains, but "repent[ed] me of my fury/ That I did kill them" (II.iii.102–103). This strange turn of events has led some to question Macbeth's story, especially as he prepares for his coronation as the next King of Scotland. One of Macbeth's closest affiliated, Banquo, reported he "feared/ Thou (Macbeth) playd'st most foully for't", having been the one behind the murder of the King (III.i.2–3). In Macbeth's eyes however, Malcolm and Donaldbain are the prime suspects. • 15. Macbeth by William Shakespeare: Murder in the Castle, an... Murder in the Castle, an Inside Look at the Death of King Duncan I of Scotland Last night, King Duncan I of Scotland was murdered in his chamber. The king was staying at the castle of his Thane, Lord Macbeth, on the night of his murder. King Duncan had been attending a party that Lord Macbeth had arranged for him and his sons. All of Scotland is in mourning for the murder of their beloved king, but everyone wants to know who committed this foul deed, and why did they do this to their king? In this newspaper is everything that we know at this time. When we interviewed Macbeth, he said that at one point in the night he had woken up and went outside of his room. As he approached the king's room, he saw two guards sleeping outside the door. Looking closer, he saw that the guards were holding their daggers, and that both of their daggers were full of blood and their clothes were also covered in blood. From this, he deduced that they must have killed the king. When he saw this, Macbeth could not stop himself from killing the guards. This is just one story from a witness; we cannot be sure whether or not Macbeth is actually telling the truth, but if he is, then this is a wild story, indeed. The question is, was King Duncan actually killed by his own guards, or is this a cover up. Why would Duncan's own guards kill him? The more likely explanation is that Macbeth is lying, and that the evidence was planted to cover the truth. But, without a confession, how could anyone ever know. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Manipulation In The Last King Of Scotland The Last King Of Scotland Politics is always an act of manipulation and there may be a dissonance between the public persona of a leader and the ruthless actuality of their lives. Kevin Macdonald's 2006 political biopic film The Last King of Scotland is based on political and personal events throughout the narcissistic Adi Amin's despotic, traumatic and destructive rule of Uganda during the 1970s. It shows two different representations of Amin: one that manipulates his public persona as someone who works for and with the people and the other as someone ruthless who will manipulate anyone to stay in power. The film is also an act of manipulation as we witness these events through the perspective of the politically naïve and altruistic eyes of Nick Garrigan. The director aims to manipulate the audience to see Amin through fresh eyes as we simultaneously witness Amin's attempts to position the people of Uganda. This empathy influences us to view Idi Amin's as a man with charm, despite his contemporary reputation as a psychotic. Amin's charisma is also very well portrayed during his speeches to a large mass of people, where he exhorts them, "together we will make this country better... and stronger ... and FREE", as the camera pans over adoring faces. When he speaks it seems that he has been in people's shoes: that's why they love him so much and choose to only look at his exterior ... • 19. Paradox Of Loyalty In Macbeth Society perceives loyalty as a strong feeling of support and allegiance. This is compromised when loyalties end up in deception. For the most part, everyone has good intentions in our relationships and life goals; however, sometimes our self–desires and devotions can contradict our true values of loyalty. In William Shakespeare's play "Macbeth," loyalty was demonstrated by the following characters, which ultimately ends in betrayal to either to themselves or others. Macbeth expresses great loyalty to Duncan, but ironically, decides to murder him for sovereignty. Banquo is loyal to Macbeth by staying quiet about his suspicions; however, it unintentionally betrayals Duncan and Scotland. Macduff is a hard worker in his family by serving Scotland, but ironically he leaves his family unprotected leading to their deaths. In Macbeth, the paradox between loyalty and betrayal is ironic. Ironically, their initial loyalties bring about betrayal, ultimately causing the death of characters. Thus, those who value loyalty must understand the consequences of their actions. Selfish desires and ambitions can have great sovereignty over one's actions as their thirst for power only grows. In the play, a loyal, honourable hero transforms into an evil murderer which is driven by his greed and ambition. Macbeth is portrayed as a brave, loyal and courageous nobleman who is incapable of committing evil deeds. Nevertheless, this changes when the witches prophecies are introduced which causes macbeth to think about his aspirations for power and his nobility ranking. He betrays king Duncan when he kills him and obtains the Scottish throne for himself. An example of his loyalty in the beginning of the play in the place when king Duncan thanks Macbeth for his bravery and victory in the battle; Macbeth responds and says, "The service and loyalty I owe, In doing it, pays itself. Your Highness' part is to receive our duties, and our duties are to your throne and state children and servants. Which do what they should, by doing everything safe toward your love and honour" (I, iv, 25–30). Macbeth is pleading a great deal of loyalty by expressing that serving him is its own reward and it is Duncan's duty is to accept what he owes him. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Romans had landed in the British Isles not long prior, and had overwhelmed a significant amount of southern Britain. However, they had been unable to take most of Scotland, only staking a claim to the Firth of Forth in the southern part of the territory. The Romans suffered constant raids from the Picts, (Scots,) and so during a visit to Britannia in 122 AD, Emperor Hadrian decided that the best course of action would be to build a wall, (known as Hadrian's Wall,) to prevent Scottish raids. Merely 20 years later, it was decided by Emperor Antoninus Pius that a wall further north, the Antonine Wall, was to be built, and this marked the northern border of the Roman Empire for 8 years before the Roman forces retreated to Hadrian's wall. • 23. Apparition In Macbeth Act four of Shakespeare's Macbeth develops several key factors that unfold in the final scene. In the beginning of the Act, Macbeth speaks to the witches to secure his sense of security as King. The witches deceive Macbeth and make him believe that he can: spurn fate, scorn death, and they cause him to bear false hope. The witches trick Macbeth into thinking his position as King is secure through four double–meaning apparitions. The third apparition is an illusion of "a king /[That] [wore] upon his baby–brow the round/ And top of sovereignty" (4. 1. 88–90). The third apparition was symbolic of Malcolm, the child who was the rightful King of Scotland. After Malcom's father, Duncan, was murdered Malcolm fled his homeland and sought safety in England. In Malcolm's absence, Macbeth terrorized Scotland and even those in Macbeth's inner circle were forced to take desperate measures. Malcolm's insinuations offend Macduff who protested that he was not treacherous; however, Malcolm wisely says that any good man in "virtuous nature may recoil/ [Under] an imperial charge" (4. 3. 19–20), after all, "Angels are bright, still though the brightest fell" (4. 3. 22). • 25. Effects Of Betrayal In Macbeth Betrayal: the disloyal action that results in the ultimate feeling of hurt. For there to be betrayal, there must be trust; the breaking of trust is the ultimate way of betrayal. It spurs upon the influence of others and is provoked by the ambitious mind. To fulfill one's desires, betrayal is an action that is easy to perform. This concept is exhibited in William Shakespeare's play, Macbeth, as the implications of betrayal lead the main character, Macbeth, to his downfall. His infidelity breaks the trust between him and Duncan because of his immense betrayal to not only the King, but to the country of Scotland. He quickly becomes a man whom Duncan could no longer rely upon, for this reason, Duncan awards the title to a noble and courageous soldier, Macbeth. Dramatic irony is presented in this line because as Duncan is addressing the unfaithfulness of the old thane, it is followed by the entry of Macbeth to the scene, a man who later misuses his power to betray the King. To Duncan, Macbeth, the Thane of Glamis, is appeared to be virtuous and courageous because of his heroic performance in the battle for defeating the opponent, Macdonwald. The King demonstrates his satisfaction towards Macbeth through a conversation with Banquo. He describes Macbeth as "full so valiant, And in his commendations [King Duncan is] fed; It is a banquet to [him]... It is a peerless kinsman." (1.4.56–60). In this speech, King Duncan truly admires Macbeth's valiancy and describes him as a man without equal. He congratulates Macbeth for his courage on the battlefield and as followed by the witches' prophecies of Macbeth, "...All hail, Macbeth, hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor..." (1.3.50), he replaces and becomes the new Thane of Cawdor. In William Shakespeare's play Macbeth, brave Macbeth makes unwise decisions that affect his entire way of living. He starts off the play as a noble warrior and progressively evolves into an evil tyrant. He is accompanied through part of the play by his wife Lady Macbeth, and she is part of the reason why this loyal man starts to change. She manipulates Macbeth into killing Duncan for her own personal gain. Throughout the play, it is shown how Macbeth destroys everything around him because of his avaricious motives. Shakespeare illustrates the evils of greed as Macbeth transforms from a loyal subject, to a remorseful murderer, and finally to a paranoid and overconfident tyrant. In the beginning of the play, Macbeth proves that he is a loyal warrior by defending Scotland against the army of Norway. Macbeth is in the front lines cutting down anyone in his path. He fights menacing urges but eventually succumbs to them; thus, throughout the play, Macbeth transforms from an honorary soldier in Scotland to a ghastly tyrant. Macbeth becomes power hungry because of the prophecy, and as a result, decides to kill the current King Duncan to fulfill his hunger. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Britannica talks about the conflict and explains,"The first war immediately followed Israel's proclamation of statehood on May 14, 1948. Arab forces from Egypt, Transjordan (Jordan), Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon occupied the areas in southern and eastern Palestine not apportioned to the Jews by the United Nations (UN) partition of Palestine and then captured east Jerusalem, including the small Jewish quarter of the Old City, in an effort to forestall the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine." (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica). Through this, it is seen that much like Macbeth, the war over Israel and Palestine was and is still a power struggle as they have been fighting over the land since 1948. In Macbeth, they praised Macbeth by saying, "All hail, Macbeth, thou shalt be king hereafter! Thou shalt get kings, though thou be none. So all hail, Macbeth and Banquo!" (Shakespeare I.3.70–71). They hailed him as King and Banquo as his second hand, but because of the struggle for power, Macbeth had Banquo killed to have no threats to the throne. The religions of Judaism and Islam motivate the Israelis and Palestinians just as how Lady Macbeth convinced Macbeth. They are fighting for that land for their religion and no other reason. • 49. Violence In Macbeth The Tale Of Macbion that I have created is based on the famous play of William Shakespeare Macbeth. Since the play was written in Old English challenging for children ages of 5–7 years, I recreated the story to make it more children–friendly. Macbeth revolves around killing and graphic imagery of blood. This is not suitable for a younger audience as their mindsets will be affected by such violence in the play. The first change I made was instead of Macbeth murdering King Duncan by a dagger, Macbeth feeds King Duncan rotten bananas disguised as fresh bananas, who has to leave the city to find a cure. This was a non–violent option because he doesn't die, this would have been inappropriate for a younger audience. Another example is how Macbeth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the entire play, Macbeth's greed clouds his perception which leads to his destruction in the play. The example is when Macbeth is Thane of Glamis and Cawdor, and the general of the army he still seeks for more power. Macbeth's pure greed for becoming the King is out of control which results in the actions taken by him. Banquo's prophecies also concerned Macbeth since Banquo will have heirs to the throne. He put his reign over a good friendship with Banquo, so he killed Banquo as well. Macbeth's lust for the ultimate prize of becoming the King of Scotland affected his relationships. "Stars hide your fires; Let not light see my black and deep desires" (Macbeth 1.4.57– 58). This quote illustrates Macbeth's greed thoroughly. Macbeth is seen referring that how his true real intentions of becoming a King of Scotland and having more power are kept a dark secret from everyone. "I grant him bloody, Luxurious, avaricious, false, deceitful, Sudden, malicious, smacking of every sin that has a name." (Macbeth 4.3.67–69). Both Malcolm and Macduff had realized that he was deceiving everyone while living the luxurious lifestyle as a king. Picasso, Van Gogh, Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Titian, Monet, Rembrandt, Raphael, Warhol and Pollock, these names have three things in common. They are all great artists, they are all white, and they are all men. The general public could name several of these men before they could name a single female or minority artist of equal stature. The truth is that all historically great artists are white men. To a modern western society that champions racial and gender equality this statement screams injustice, as it should. To combat this injustice society is faced with two options; either scour history to find female and minority artists whose talent was suppressed from the global stage because of their race or sex, or invest all effort into ensuring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Presently some aspiring artists are denied the training and platform necessary to develop their talent while other artists are forced to not only be artists but also activists and public figures. In her article Why Are There No Great Woman Artists, Linda Nocklin poses an eye opening question. She say, "Would Senor Ruiz have paid as much attention or stimulated as much ambition for achievement if Picasso had been a girl?" In the history of art talent has been stunted because the talented artist was either a woman or a racial minority. To move forward as a society artists must be accepted with open arms regardless of their race or gender. To create an environment that encourages artistic endeavors regardless of race and gender, racial and gender issues must not be taboo in the classroom. Students must learn how to overcome their differences and celebrate their diversity. Studying art and the shortcomings of diversity that art has experienced can open the minds of students. Leo Marx addresses this concept in his article Huck at 100. He advises that racial issues should be discussed in the classroom, but that they must be handled with care and sensitivity. It is incredibly important to the future success of art that art's "White men's club" be a thing of the past. Encouraging the talent of the future is imperative. It is also crucial though ... There is large discrepancy between the real version of Macbeth and Shakespeare's embellished version. William Shakespeare's Macbeth tells of a tragic story of the life of the King of Scotland and his uprisings and declination of power. However, the real story of Macbeth tells the story of a brilliant Scottish king. It is believed that Shakespeare rearranged the plot of the story to flatter King James I. • 73.
