It s a well known fact that college is one of the most memorable experiences in life, and one of the
most anticipated. I had interviewed David Tanaka about his college adventure. He s witty, energetic
young man working as a sixth grade social studies teacher at Kalama Intermediate. He was my sixth
grade English teacher, the best one I ve ever had. We were really close in my first year of middle
school, mostly because I didn t really have friends at the time so I always hung out in his classroom. I

Throughout history, storytellers have used fantastic fables to entertain his or her audience. Filled with
larger than life characters and amazing tales of heroism, on the surface these fables simply seem like
mass entertainment much in the same way comic book heroes entertain us today on the silver screen.
However, most of the time these epic, fantastic tales have a much deeper purpose for both the
storyteller and the audience. While the stories aim to entertain, more importantly, the epic tales exist to
hand down crucial histories from generation to generation. This is important to the culture in which
the story takes place, and is a true observation for the story of Sundiata, the founding of the Mali
Empire, and the descendants of these Mali people. While on the surface, the story is a heroic tale of
Sundiata s early life as he overcomes many obstacles, defeats mystical and magical foes, and finally
emerges triumphant, it is really a tale designed to teach the audience the history of the Mali Empire
and the values and culture of the Mali people. This is tremendously important to the Mali people back
when the story was first told and is still important to them today.
As a historical oral epic, the tale of Sundiata tells the reader the story of the creation of the Mali

On November 8, 1519, Spanish leader, Hernan Cortes landed in modern day Mexico, bringing along
six hundred Spaniards and a lot of native allies. The Aztecs, who were natives in Mexico, welcomed
Cortez with opened arms because they believed he was one of their gods, Quetzalcoatl. From the
beginning, they were willing to share their land and wealth with the Spaniards but they Spaniards did
not want to share this land and began to continue with their plan to conquer the land. Throughout this
two year campaign where the Spanish and Aztecs were fighting for ownership of the land, and after
thousands of people killed, the Spanish conquered the land, seizing the existence of the Aztec Empire.
This cultural encounter changed the lives of both the Aztec and Spaniards greatly by the change in
language, religion, and the benefits this take over had on the Spanish Empire. Once central Mexico
was taken over by the Spaniards, the use of the Aztec language, Nahuatl, was quickly put to an end.
The Spaniards saw that the two different languages kept a separation between the two cultures and

The previous paragraph explains how the concept of logos contributes to how Marcus represents the
target in the social justice chart because it explains how Marcus uses postconventional morality right
after the kids were captured by the Department of Homeland Security, Marcus kept on asking the

The following statement would indicate faraday s reputation in popularity, Faraday s lectures were so
popular that they had to have one way traffic near Albemarle street, (Falconer, DVD, 2008). It is
therefore a tempting thought that Faraday was an early pioneer in teaching methods and would not
look out of place in schools and television today. However, chapter four comments about other

T.S.Eliot wrote Prufrock poem six years before its publication in the Egoist 1917. From the first
glance at the poem one can figure out the personal touches of its writer who genuinely described the
days and nights of the places, streets and cities that he had been to. It probably was Eliot himself to
nourish such rich observations from his abundant experience; Mathiessen describes it as Prufrock
seems to spring from Eliot s detached super cultivated fastidious young man from Harvard;
