To Be a Retail Assistant Manager
Now a days it is very hard to find a steady job. Everything going on with the economy and
unemployment it is extremely difficult. In order to get a stable job you need to have some sort of
knowledge in what you are doing. Even working at a department store requires sone knowledge. You
need to be able to work with customers and be up to date with everything that involves the store.
During my visit to mothers job I acquired some knowledge on how to manage a store. My mother
works at Nordstrom as a Retail Assistant manager. Most of the time she was on the go and extremely
busy. Customers had issues that she needed to solve. My mother had to fire and even hire many people
all in one day. My mother basically runs the entire store if the manger is not there. In order to be a
Retail Assistant Manager you need at least a high school diploma and good qualifications on your
GCSE s. (Retail Assistant manager job description totaljobs.com) To really stand out from the rest,
having a degree in retail management is great. From six a.m till five p.m my mother worked non stop.
To be a Retail Assistant Manager you need to be on your feet and be able to multi task. Determination
and drive for this job is the most important. This job requires you to deal with people all the time. Any
concern in the store goes directly to you or the actual manager. The manager considers a Retail
Assistant Manager as their second right man . Providing the latest updates about the store 24/7 to the

Two Other Philosophers, John Locke, And George Berkeley
Two other philosophers, John Locke, and George Berkeley have shown similar theories to the
discussion from the ideas presented by Plato. Unlike Plato who argues that we cannot determine what
is true or real based on experience, Locke argues that all knowledge which we use to determine what
is true or real comes from experience. And similar to Plato, Berkeley argues that only our ideas are the
only thing that is real. Locke also argues in his essay that knowledge is not something people are born
with. Locke differs from Plato, because Plato believes we do not know the true or ideal state of
something. This is so because on Earth the physical realm, we only experience shadows , or
reflections of the perfect ideal objects we have in our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Locke s second point in his argument is that knowledge comes from the senses and how we perceive
the world. This means that all the knowledge society has acquired comes from the observations and
reasoning people have made based on their perceptions. In his essay, Locke presents the idea of two
fountains of knowledge. These fountains of knowledge is where all the ideas that we can have have
come from. The first fountain of knowledge is sensation, which involves all the five senses of the
human body. It is because of sensation we have ideas such as hot, the color orange, sweet, and bright.
The second fountain of knowledge is experience, which helps explain the things we perceive from the
first sense, such as reasoning, thinking, and knowing. Locke then separates experience into two
categories, primary and secondary qualities. Primary qualities are qualities that an object can have
without us needing to sense it such as size of an object or the way it is moving. An object will already
have these qualities regardless if a person recognizes them or not. Secondary qualities are the other
qualities such as color, or the sound an object makes when it hits the floor. These our qualities that
exist in our mind, not qualities that an object has already on its own. A great example is wine. When it
comes to wine many people have different experiences on how a wine tastes. Imagine one bottle of
wine that is sampled by two different

and to exploit while others were born to obey and serve . This clearly was an ethnicity discrimination
against the two groups brought by Belgium colony.
However the Hutus and Tutsi are all Rwandese who speak the same language and they respect the
same traditions and taboos. The differences between the Tutsi and Hutus were at the beginning in the
early years was not based on the ethic or racial but it was because the coloniser supported and gave
power to the other. Tutsi were recognized, as the king by the different groups that they were consider

Rwandese, Belgian supported the Hutus and overthrew the Tutsi royal family. This led the Tutsis to
start fleeing the country to Uganda. At that period of time Rwanda was a state dominated by
Habyarimana who was Hutu, the international community did step in to put pressure on promoting
Human rights violations against the government but the president and his inner circle did everything to

Questions On The Legal Right
The overarching question which this essay will address is whether Stephanie has any legal right to
Sunderlandland or Sunderland. The essay will analyse three subsidiary questions, the first being
whether the Sunderland was a fixture or remained a chattel, if it was a fixture then the new owner of
the land also acquired ownership rights to it. The second issue is whether there was a valid contract, a
binding agreement to sell and transfer land in return for the payment of an agreed price , between
Stephanie and Wangle for Sunderlandland. In relation to this, the final question being whether
Stephanie was able to use the defence of proprietary estoppel, which revolves around the idea that if a

Nonetheless, there can be doubt casted upon the court s decision in Holland v Hodgson regarding the
looms being fixtures. This is because when using the first test Thompson proclaims that only if the
item, cannot be removed without destroying that structure... it will regarded as being part of the land ,
but was held that the looms could easily be removed without any serious damage to the flooring.
Conversely, in Chelsea Yacht and Boat Co Ltd v Pope the damage to the land was considered a
significant factor as the Court of Appeal deemed the degree of annexation of the houseboat which was
moored on the Thames to be insufficient as Tuckey LG stated: the houseboat could be moved quite
easily without injury to itself or the land. However, Berkley v Poulett undermined the importance of
the degree of annexation as Scarman LJ declared it may now prove nothing as, the second test,
purpose of the annexation takes precedence. The purpose of annexation is judged upon whether the
item has been so fixed for the better enjoyment of the object or to affecting a permanent improvement
of the freehold . Leigh v Taylor corroborates Scarman as the court held that the tapestries were chattels
as although they were affixed to the walls, the purpose of the annexation was for the tapestry to be
enjoyed as an ornament rather than to enhance the building . The case of Mew v Trismire further
strengthens Scarman s contention, as

Self Awareness And The Social Work
Self awareness and the use of self is a key component in social work practice. Depending upon how
one integrates their personal being and accompanying thoughts, experiences, emotions, and
consciousness into the helping profession has a profound impact on whether that integration is
positive or negative, particularly when it comes to that of one s relationships with their clients. While
remaining impartial is often critical to effective social work practice, the complete separation of self
from one s professional practice is not only impossible to realize, but would arguably have less of a
meaningful impact with one s relations with clients as well as self. Understanding the use of self and
the importance of self awareness in the social work profession is the first step in establishing a healthy
means of practicing and the impact that our own individuality has when interacting with clients. In this
paper I will analyze, and further critically reflect upon, four academic journals on the topic of the use
of self in social work; later applying this learning to an experience from my field placement.
In their article, The Integration of Personal and Professional Selves: Developing Students Critical
Awareness in Social Work Practice , Jay Marlowe, Cherie Appleton, Shirley Ann Chinnery, and
Stuibra Van Stratum (2015) interestingly explored the concepts of self awareness and use of self at the
stage immediately prefacing the career level. Focusing on third year social work

Observing the Mega picture and Paradigm Shifts
The definition of paradigm shift is a fundamental change in approach or underlying assumptions. The
paradigm shift that John Mcphee refers to in Basin and Range is the transition from pre tectonic plate
geology also know as old geology and the geology after the introduction of the now widely accepted
plate tectonic theory. Mcphee uses geologist Kenneth Deffeyes as a focal point by observing how an
old geologist can work after such an upheaval in ideology. The paradigm shift caused everyday
geologist including Kenneth Deffeyes to focus on seeing the mega picture of earth instead of the
single picture that geologist have been examining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was the first person to come up with the idea of Pangea. Kenneth Deffeyes is best known for his
discovery of a connection between what was happening on the seafloor and in the state of Nevada. His
first encounter with the concept of continental drift was when scientist J. Tuzo Wilson of The
University of Toronto and Fred Vine from Cambridge University published a paper which they
defined an oddly isolated piece of the mid ocean ridge off the coasts of Oregon and Washington. It
was a spreading center of what would eventually become known as Juan de Fuca Plate, one of the
smallest of all the crustal plates in the world. The volcanoes of the Cascades Mt. Hood, Mt. Rainier,
Mt.St. Helens, Glacier Peak were lined up behind its trench (Mcphee, Pg 136). This idea was only a
hypothesis at the time, but Deffeyes was eager to either confirm or disprove it. He made it very clear
that Continental drift is one hypothesis ill get seasick for (Mcphee, Pg.136). Deffeyes proximity to the
area in question and clearance to use high tech equipment made going on this voyage a no brainer.
Deffeyes went out to dredge the rock, but first he had to find the ridge, so he made a long pass with
his echo sounder tracing the profile of the bottom. The ridge axis rock, when he dredged it up, was
extremely young. But what at the end

The Tax Laws And The United States Constitution
Ever since the ratification of the 16th amendment to the United States Constitution, Americans have
faced the burden of federal income taxes. Income taxes were first proposed as a better way of
gathering revenue, as well as an effective measure to manipulate economic spending. However, the
current tax code bears very little resemblance to the relatively simple codes that were originally
written into law. Today s tax laws have grown astonishingly complex and unequally distributes the
burden of tax liabilities. Our country should confront the issues derived from the increasing
complexity of the tax laws and equally distribute the obligations to each taxpayer.
Virtually all citizens and politicians alike, agree that the current tax code is entirely too complex, yet
nearly every year the system gets more complicated, not less. The reason is that simplicity almost
always clashes with the other goals within the tax policy. Most people believe income taxes should be
enforceable, fair, and beneficial to economic wealth, all while maintaining simplicity. But even those
who agree on the necessity of these goals often disagree about the hierarchical importance of each. As
a result, the tax policies usually represent a portion of each competing goal, leaving no room for
simplicity. For example, most countries tailor tax liabilities to the characteristics of the individual
taxpayer. That can make taxes more fair, but also more complex. Income must first be traced from a
business to the

Taxi Driver Social Disorganization
The film Taxi Driver, directed by Martin Scorsese, takes place in New York City during the 1970 s.
The main character Travis Bickle, played by Robert De Niro, is a United States Marine returning
home after serving his country. Taxi Driver appears to demonstrate the theory of Social
Disorganization. The audience can see this throughout the film in scenes where Bickle is driving
through the city. As the film continues Bickle appears to struggle with adjusting to such a large city
and coping with his sanity. This film takes a look at how Social Disorganization along with a mental
illness can contribute to someone s actions and behavior.
Travis Bickle is an extremely complex individual. It appears Bickle s mental state is deteriorating after
serving four years in the United States Marine Corps and seeing combat action in Vietnam. Bickle
seems to be an insomniac unable to sleep at night, part of the reason why he wants to drive a taxi cab
at night. Struggling to sleep, Bickle also consumes alcohol at various times of the day. The audience

Martin Scorsese beautifully demonstrates what a socially disorganized city might reflect. Whenever
Bickle is driving his taxi cab at night the audience can see prostitution, pimping, assault, robbery, and
drug dealing. In the movie one can see that there are really no institutions exhorting their control over
society. With a lack of control from institutions such as religion, politics, and school it allows crime to
take over and become a societal norm. Bickle sees that crime is rampant within the city and refers to
these individuals as scum. It is very apparent that social disorganization has especially taken hold of
the inner city, or Zone of Transition, which is where most minorities reside and where most crime
occurs. Bickle unfortunately both lives and primarily works in this

Hinduism has gone through the evolution as well. Influences of Islam and Christianity can be seen in

In addition, child marriage started to become more common as well. Often Muslim rulers and officials
kidnapped Hindu girls. Due to the kidnapping of the Hindu girls, their parent had to practice child

girls was seven and that marriage after the age of eleven or twelve was sinful. Just like the influence
of Muslim on Hindu, Christianity also has huge impact on a Hindu society. The British Colonization
of India had many effects on these beliefs. These effects ranged from a different use of the Caste
System and how it was practiced, or, on a larger scale where many Hindus converted due to the many

At District Court I went to courtroom 1C and 1D. I heard cases about misdemeanor such as assault

At District Court:
Prosecuter
The prosecuter asks who has an attorney to the people that wait in the courtroom. If someone do not

says the number docket to the judge and reads the indictment. He is seated in his desk all the time.
Defendants

finishing the hearing. All defendants are in the same courtroom waiting for their turn. They usually

Bhopal, Bhopal And Its Effects
Thirty years ago in Bhopal, India, an accident at the Union Carbide pesticide plant led to around thirty
tons of highly toxic gases to fill the air and spread through the nearby towns. When the accident
occurred, over 600,000 people were exposed to the very deadly gas. Over the past years, 15,000
people have been killed by the disaster and it s effects. (Union Carbide Corporation, 2001 2014) Toxic
material still remains in Bhopal to this day. (Taylor, 2014) This accident occurred in 1984 at the Union
Carbide plant, which had been established in Bhopal in 1969. Reports began months before the
disaster of the possibility of a huge accident. Staff had been being laid off for weeks prior and that had
led to less and less safety checks. (Taylor, 2014) The gas that leaked is named Methyl Isocyanine.
Methyl Isocyanine is used as a popular pesticide. When in it s liquid form, the chemical is odorless
and very flammable. In a gas though, it is highly toxic and irritating. The organic compound can also
be found in small amounts in certain cigarettes. Union Carbide was using Methyl Isocyanate as an
intermediate. Methylamine was made to react with phosgene to produce the Methyl Isocyanate, which
then reacts with 1 naphthol to form carbonyl, which is the final product. The accident was triggered
when water entered Tank E610, which contained more than 40 tons of methyl isocyanate, initiating a
runaway reaction. (Ganesh, 2015) An employee was flushing a corroded pipe and many stopcocks

What is the government doing for them, in order to help them? The Canadian government s promises

The First Nations experienced numerous traumatic events when the British invaded their lands. It all
started with the Indian Act in 1867. The British believed that their culture was superior to the First
Nations and therefore they should rule and have all the power. The British wanted to add Christianity

Inspired By Author, Harriet Beecher, Sarah Orne Jewett...
Sarah Orne Jewett began writing at an early age as she was inspired by, The Pearl of Orr s Island
written by Harriet Beecher Stowe. Jewett began writing in the style of the author of her inspiration and
thus fell in love with the style of writing that encapsulated nearly every author of her time, local color
writing. Local color writing is a style of writing that became popular just after the Civil War. Many
writers began writing with a focus on the way of life and nature in their direct surrounding areas and
regions. As mentioned by The Norton Anthology: American Literature Volume 2, local color writing
embodies the depiction of, ...the topographies, people, speech patterns, and modes of life of the nation
s distinctive regions (412). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each of these individually would not make up color writing but once they are all pieced together they
create an environment so familiar to Jewett and those who know the coast of Maine well. Jewett
writes the story as if the land is capable of enchantment and the reader gets that feel with each
description of the land. This too is a crucial aspect of local color, specifically when it comes to
satisfying the topography category. While each description of the land may not entirely be specific to
Maine, it is their author that constructs such a combination that the land comes alive and is a crucial
piece of the story just as crucial as the characters themselves. The characters in A White Heron are not
entirely specific to Maine, but their speech patterns as well as their way of life are for sure. The first
example of how the characters add to the local color of the story is when the ornithologist first meets
Sylvia. The stranger first met Sylvia out in nature while Sylvia was walking with her grandmother s
cow. The stranger was not in a place that he knew well and asked Sylvia about where the road is.
Sylvia helped the stranger because he had lost his way. This is a great example of how A White Heron
is local color writing. Sylvia represents her region of Maine and the stranger is just a representation of
people from outside of the Maine region that Sylvia hails from. Even though Sylvia is much younger
and much less experienced in the wild than the ornithologist,

How Blended Families Are Created From A Diverse Needs And...
Topic
Blended families are created from a diverse sets of needs as a result of family life changes, such as
divorce or death, and these changes result in situations where both adults and children find themselves
living with step family members stemming from both sides of the no longer intact family structure.
Deal (2014), a leading author and marriage therapist, likens the blended family to a 3 D puzzle that a
person is trying to complete without the benefit of instructions or even a picture as a point of
reference. Each family is different in roles and their structure; however, most members desire healthy
outcomes and basic principles for creating well functioning family units.

Married in the 2007, Bill and Dawn (which are not their real names, as they require anonymity to
protect their children), currently have four children. Bill brought two children (a 9 year old son and an

Insurance Companies and Hurricane Sandy
Hurricane Sandy Introduction How did the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the
New Jersey emergency agencies and private insurance companies work together or did they? to help
victims of the horrific winds and water associated with Hurricane Sandy? This paper delves into that
issue. Insurance Companies and Hurricane Sandy From news reports it would appear that insurance
companies did not provide the emergency assistance that victims of Hurricane Sandy had hoped for.
This is not to say that all insurance companies failed to deliver the help that their policyholders
expected, but clearly some companies failed to deliver, and their efforts were not always in sync with
FEMA and the NF Office of Emergency Management. For example, as far as the National Flood
Insurance Program s efficiency in getting checks to homeowners, the payouts ...have not come quickly

Why Do We Have The Right To Bear Arms
The Second Amendment states, A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a Free State,
the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The Second Amendment was
adopted on December 15, 1791, as part of the first ten amendments in the Bill of Rights. Many
arguments have been thrown around saying that the terminology of the Second Amendment is very
outdated and the Second Amendment needs to be rewritten or repealed altogether. The right to bear
arms gives the people the power to resist a tyrannical government.
The Right to Bear Arms has been a fundamental right just as the freedom of speech and the rest of the
amendments since the Bill of Rights have been ratified. Some people think and feel that law abiding
citizens should not be able to own any guns and that we are supposed to allow the government to keep
us safe. Some think that the Second Amendment is the most important amendment because it keeps
the government from being able to impose tyranny. As we look at history, many governments have
unarmed their citizens and terrible things happened. The Second Amendment prevents that from
happening in the United States if gun control advocates got their way of getting all guns banned only
police would have weapons, then we would live in a dictatorship. ... Show more content on

Letter of Appeal Essay
I am studying to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. I am writing to appeal for my financial aid. I feel
a letter was proper because of certain circumstances that occurred during my life that contributed to
me withdrawing from Psychology, College prep writing, college prep arithmetic and failing PRN

high school. I enrolled in several courses which were Psychology, College prep writing and College

Throughout the course of the LPN I ve came across several trial and tribulations where there were
several occasions I had to come to class with my daughter because I could not find someone to watch
my daughter, which was the reason why I failed the PRN0374 course. There were days that I had to
miss class because I could not find a babysitter and there were times where my babysitter would
cancel on me last minute. Many of the times I took chances bringing my daughter to school with me
and having to hide her in the back of the classroom just so the professor wouldn t send me home
because she was with me.
Now that I ve found a reliable sitter for my daughter I am doing a lot better in my PRN class and I m
looking forward to going to clinicals and graduating with my classmates. I ve come very far with
different obstacles that I was faced with but I am determined and motivated to finish Miami Dade
College and become a nurse to give my daughter the future she deserves. I refuse to let anything come

anything in life to look at other options in order to handle the situation better. Education is extremely
important to me and I am a student who is very serious about my future and the upcoming semester
will prove so. Regardless of my previous poor work ethic, I am a mature person and if given a chance,

There should be a call for stricter regulation of post mortem human tissue. It would seem obvious that
what is of paramount value in life would necessarily depreciate in death. This is not true of the human
body. With the emergence of biotechnology and the consequent need for post mortem human tissue,
the human cadaver has become quite valuable. In pieces and parts or in its entirety, organizations will
pay top dollar for the human body, even after it houses the human spirit.
Throughout history, civilizations have found uses for the bodies, organs and tissue of the dead. The
potential for the human cadaver is ever expanding. Since 1954, human organs have been successfully
transplanted into living recipients who would otherwise die. (Ranee Khooshie Lal Panjab) Modern
researchers use cadaver tissue to study physiological processes and conduct testing. Clinicians restore
transplant recipient functions through procedures that include skin grafts and corneal transplants.
Cadavers are essential to medical school anatomy classes, forensic experts measuring body
decomposition etc. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) organs worldwide both are
legal and illegal, but the use of the organ only decrease half of the actual need.
A particular heated debate has risen on the matter of legislative defaults on cadaveric organ donation.

Protestant Churches Decline
Protestant denominations in contemporary America are declining, while non denominational churches
are seeing an increase in membership. One of the principal reasons is losing the young people. If the
church continues to lose interest of the younger generations, then the likelihood of the generations to
follow will also not attend, as most children follow their parents. The churches losing members and
not being replaced with members, inevitably decreases the membership. A spokesman for the UMC
stated the membership of the United Methodist Church would cease to exist if the church did not start
reaching out to more people, especially the younger, diverse crowd (Methodists grow abroad, continue
slippage in U.S., 2011). Moreover, the Presbyterian Church has shrunk as well (Ostling, Bonfante,

also impacting the decline. The Protestant denominations of before, were predominately white

De hong sees communism becoming increasingly important to many people but has yet to make up
her own mind about the situation. She continues to watch those in power, including those over the
teaching school where she now resides. When she learns that a favorite teacher and then her best
friend, Cousin Hu, had been Communists and had been either chased from the city or executed for
their political beliefs, she makes up her mind that she, too, will become a Communist.
Chapter 5:
De hong asks to be a part of the communist movement but she s found too young. A short time later,

with a Kuomintang general. Using his military freedom, they travel outside the walled city
occasionally and De hong leaves messages for her Communist counterparts.. The Communists then

Government
The company deals with the government by having orders being taken from them of certain amount of

rural areas.
Local Community
The Local Community has interest towards the business, because having cheap goods sold in specific

Trade Unions
Capital Foods does not operate with any Trade Unions.

Digital Communication, Data, And Codes
When we enter data onto a computer system or other device by way of the keyboard, each character is
encoded into an equivalent binary coded pattern, using one of the standard coding schemes that are
used for the transposition of information. When representing all characters on a keyboard, an
exclusive pattern of 7 or 8 bits in size is used. The use of 7 bits means that 128 different elements can
be represented, while 8 bits can represent 256 elements. At the receiving end the process is reversed to
show the character key strike instead of the binary code.
The most commonly used code patterns are the Extended Binary Coded Decimal (EBCDIC) and the
American Standard Code for Information Interchange codes (ASCII). Both coding schemes support all
the normal alphabetic, numeric, and punctuation characters, more commonly referred to as printable
characters and a range of additional control characters, known as non printable characters.
This paper will be discussing what data transmission is. Other points we will discuss will be: What is
digital communication, data communication, data transfer, and what is transmission as used in
telecommunications?
Data transmission is the movement of data in form of bits between multiple devices. The transfer can
take place by using various materials such as coaxial cables and Fiber Optics. There are two types of
data transmissions, parallel and serial.
Digital data transmission can occur in two basic modes: serial or parallel. Data within a

became known as the Kuiper Belt was first suggested by astronomer Kenneth Edgeworth in 1943. He
suggested that, comets and other larger bodies might exist past Neptune. Several years later in 1951,
astronomer Gerard Kuiper predicted the existence of icy objects that formed a belt just beyond the
orbit of Neptune. This became known as the Kuiper Belt or less commonly known as the Edgeworth

which they named Sedna. This was followed by discoveries in 2005 and 2008. In 2005 a KBO slightly
smaller than Pluto was identified and named Eris. It was the discovery of Eris which has its own moon

2008 two more objects categorized as dwarf planets were discovered. One is named Makemake after
the Polynesian creation god and the other is named Haumea after the Hawaiian goddess of fertility and

The Argument Of Violent Video Games
Learning is a deep human need, like mating and eating, and like all such needs it is meant to be deeply
pleasurable to human beings. ― James Paul Gee, Why Video Games Are Good for Your Soul:
Pleasure and Learning. Some people have controversial argument that violent video games should be
banned, claiming about the content of video games can change the behavior and attitudes of the
players. Since the early 2000s, advocates of video games have emphasized their use as an expressive
medium, arguing for their protection under the laws governing freedom of speech and also as an
educational tool. Violent video games allow players to divert their aggression into the virtual world
instead of the real one. Video games have become not only a form of entertainment, but also another
way for people to escape reality and to enter their own virtual fantasy. James Gee explains that, if you
blame violent video games for horrific events that have occurred is much like putting the blame on
food for the cause of obesity. According to the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), 58 percent
of all Americans play video games, and nearly half of Americans over 50 play. The organization also
found that 45 percent of gamers are women and that the average gamer is 30 years old. Gameplay is
also on the rise one study shows that average daily video game play among kids ages 8 to 18 rose
from 26 minutes per day in 1999 to almost 110 minutes (nearly two hours) per day by 2009. The
numbers are even higher for boys, 25 percent of whom play video games for four or more hours per
day. Violent video games should not be ban because violent video games can be good for developing
cognitive, physical, and many more hidden skills, help to understand and learn to control emotions,
and banning violent video games is against the fourteenth amendment of the United States.
Violent video games strengthen and coordinate to visual skills. Researchers from the University of
Rochester found, people who frequently play video games have better visual skills of their
surroundings. Than people who do not or rarely play any video game. This means people who play
videogames, are better suit around his or her surrounding and could help improve our society. Many

It left a lifelong impression on Schultz (Gallo, Forbes). From his father s struggles, Schultz realized he
wanted to work hard to pursue a career he loved and was passionate about. Since Schultz did not have
endless opportunities due to his families financial struggles, he needed to strive to be the best he could
be, hoping that one day he would be able to provide for his family in ways that his parents could not.
Schultz s childhood and young adulthood struggles before his success qualify him as a twice born
leader, which is characterized by Warren Bennis as someone who has re invented him or herself and
become a leader due to their hard work and success while overcoming many obstacles. Bennis
highlights in his book that often times it is much harder for people to become leaders when they need

that one day he would be leading such a successful and prominent business. As he strived to work his

Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin In The Sun
The Importance of the Struggle in A Raisin in the Sun
Why do some people persist despite insurmountable obstacles, while others give up quickly or never
bother to try (Gunton 118)? A Raisin in the Sun, a play by Lorraine Hansberry, is a commentary on
life and our struggle to comprehend and control it. The last scene in the play between Asagai and
Beneatha contrasts two contemporary views on why we keep on trying to change the future, and
reaches the conclusion that, far from being a means to an end, the real meaning of life is the struggle.
Whether we succeed or not, our lives are purposeful only if we have tried to make the world a better
place for ourselves and others only, in other words, if we follow our dreams. ... Show more content on

It was in this sort of mood that Beneatha formulated an idea about the sheer stupidity and cruelty of
nature in general and people in specific: Don t you see there isn t any real progress, there is only one
large circle that we march in, around and around, each of us with our own little picture in front of us
our own little mirage that we think is the future (Hansberry. Raisin). Misery and stupidity are always
present: man does not seem capable of eliminating them once and for all. Their existence conspires to
thwart dreams, and Beneatha decided that she was tired of the struggle, tired of deluding herself with
an unworkable vision, tired of having to fight against the unchangeable facts of life a view she might
have kept, as many have, if it were not for Asagai s gentle reasoning.
For Asagai, the struggle to achieve our own views of the future was the real essence of life. His was
the generation of African dreamers who passionately advocated the independence of their continent
from colonial rule, for whom revolution and upheaval were generally perceived as the only ways to
improve the lot of their homelands. In his country, he lived daily with oppression, misery, and

Slavery Argument Against Slavery
Slavery, though it was an inexcusable, helped shape the nation that we live in today. In the last few
weeks, I have become much more knowledgeable on the topic of slavery. People on both sides of the
slavery argument (pro slavery and anti slavery) earnestly believed in what they stood for. The
resistance to the end of slavery was likely out of fear, but some of the proslavery arguments were
completely ridiculous. John C. Calhoun once noted that slavery was necessary to keep the United
States from having internal conflicts. He believed that it was the free blacks that caused the social
disturbances in the North. Numerous southern slave owners held this same view, in fact, many were
convinced that the South was exempt from these disturbances because many of the African Americans
were slaves and had no means to cause these public disturbances. For these Southerners, slavery was
not just a practice, but a way of life. They feared what would happen if slavery was to be abolished.
This is proven because, years before the civil war was even a thought, the South was already starting
to get defensive about the question of slavery. Even though the practice of slavery was a big part of
how Southerners lived their daily lives, Calhoun s argument of why slavery was a necessary good
lacked foundation. Under no circumstances is acceptable to treat another human being as property. It
makes no difference as to whether or not they are of an inferior race, color, or cognitive

as a dietary method for improving cardiovascular health. The main nutritional focuses of the diet are
high intake of unsaturated fats, high intake of fiber, low intake of saturated fats, and low intake of
sodium. Food choices should be centered around fresh vegetables, fruits, nuts, legumes, whole grains,

A study by Vafeiadou et al. (2015), showed that dietary replacement of saturated fats (SFAs) by
unsaturated fats did not improve cardiovascular function, but did result in beneficial effects on
cardiovascular biomarkers. In this randomized, controlled, single bind study 195 men and women at
moderate risk for cardiovascular disease, were randomly assigned to a 16 week isoenergetic diet that
were either rich in SFAs, MUFAs, or polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). The primary cardiovascular
measurement of function was flow mediated dilation, and secondary measurements were blood
pressure, arterial stiffness, and serum levels of various biomarkers (lipids, glucose, insulin resistance).
The results of this study showed that replacing a SFA diet with those of MUFAs or PUFAs did not
significantly change flow mediated dilation, or arterial stiffness, a process which probably occurs at a
rate much slower than the scope of this study. There was a significant decrease in recorded blood
pressure of the MUFA and PUFA diet groups, compared to the increase in blood pressure of the SFA
diet group. Other biomarkers such as total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and the total cholesterol/HDL
cholesterol ratio improved significantly in the MUFAs and PUFAs diet replacement compared to that

Bong Joon ho s 2013 science fiction film, Snowpiercer, based in a graphic novel of the same name,
offers a look into a frozen future where the last of mankind lives on an evermoving locomotive. It s a
contemporary film focused around the theme of classism in society, driven by metaphors for where we
are and where we are going. With an almost mashup of Orwell meeting the 99%, the story focuses on
the inhabitants of the suppressed population of the train s tail section, led by Chris Evans Curtis,
revolting against the forward living. The film s narrative in relation to its theme is the focal point of
the film and it s main driving force. By using a linear narrative, Joon ho allows the story to move
forward as the characters move towards the front of train. With each decision Curtis makes, the
blocking of his movements is always in a forward motion. He is always looking forward because he
has a definite purpose and only second guesses in a scene (the only scene) where he looks forward and
backward toward two separate outcomes of one decision as the camera follows his head movement in

I hadn t seen Chris Evans outside of his Marvel ventures and was impressed by his ability to make his
heavily flawed character seem charismatic. It s easy to see why the tail sectioners choose to follow
him; he is the the one they deem smart and driven enough to lead them to their journey s end. I can t
tell if it s the way he meant the character to be portrayed and that s just Evan s natural charismatic
nature showing through but it adds a layer to the character that makes his decisions and emotions seem
more concrete. The rest of the cast does a great job of carrying out action beats in relation to the
workings of the class and machinery present in the film s screenplay. I do feel that some other
characters expositions are not layered enough to evoke any emotion and that does take away from the

A Comparison Of Jesus In The Book Of Matthew, Mark, Luke...
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are all different stories on the life of Jesus. They all tell the same story
just in different aspects. The reason that they all tell the story in different aspects to show the different
events in Jesus life. One writer might focus on the legend of Jesus and another writer might focus on
the being on Jesus. Some might focus on the beginning stages of the life of Jesus. It s like a book with
chapters written by different authors: but the book s purpose is for reader s to learn about the life of
Jesus, in all aspects. The authors of the different chapters are Matthew, Mark, Luke and John; they all
give their own view point. In the book of Matthew he speaks on small details in the life of Jesus and

beloved physician . In the book of Luke he elaborates on the humanity of Jesus Christ, and the order
of the life of Jesus Christ. John says, And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His
disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is
Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. (John 20:30 31). The goal in
the book of John was to make people believe in Jesus, to help them see that Jesus is Christ and the Son
of God. In the book of Matthew he speaks on small details in the life of Jesus and prophecies as well.
Matthew speaks on the birth of Jesus being born to a virgin and he also tell us that the Jesus being
born was a fulfillment of a prophecy. You cannot chose the one that is more authoritative because each
book tells a different story and view on the life of Jesus. The writings are used to tell different points

Participation Awards Research Paper
Participation awards encourage involvement by recognizing the hard work of everyone involved,
which is why they shouldn t be seen as pity awards that students don t deserve. By rewarding
participation, you applaud the effort and hard work of the deserving winners, but also the hundreds of
other competitors who put forth their best effort. Unfortunately, parents like James Harrison don t
understand the purpose or benefit of participation awards, resulting in the stigma around them. James
confiscated his son s award saying that these trophies will be given back until they EARN a trophy,
and sometimes your best is not good enough, but often, your best effort is enough. You re not always
going to be the best, even if you try your hardest, and

Analysis Of The Book Chapter One
CHAPTER ONE She wasn t overly fond of driving, with the faith that one had to put in the other

morning traffic that she had spent the past hour in. Wasn t even overly fond of that corner market
coffee that she had purchased from that service station when it was she d fuelled up earlier that
morning. Not that, considering the manner she d awoken that morning, she was likely to be fond of

circling down that drain of her own psychosis. It also, she had learned, made her far more prone to
poetry and prose in her own mind. Neither of which helped her with the actual problem, or even

Understanding Air Pollution Causing By Nitrogen Oxide
When a huge amount of nitrogen oxide is being emitted into the air it forms smog and acid rain. Acid
rain can damage everything that it falls on mainly the environment; it contaminated human resources
such as water and etc. Once the acid rain contaminates the water resources it deteriorates the water
quality causing more nitrogen to be in the water. With more nitrogen present in the water it upset the
chemical balance of nutrients/ minerals that are being consume by the aquatic plants and animals. As a
result, it can lead up to depletion in oxygen which are the key component of all living things. Without

The Blind Side Film Techniques
Everyone was created for a reason. Don t ever allow yourself to feel trapped by your choices. Take a
look at yourself. You are a unique person created for a specific purpose. Your gifts matter. Your story
matters. Your dreams matter. You matter. Real Michael Oher. In the visual text The Blind Side the
director John Lee Hancock presented to us, how Michael Oher was a positive influence on Sean
Tuohy, the football team/coach and Leigh Anne. To display this to the viewers, Hancock used the film
technique of low key lighting in the scene where Michael was sauntering solo in the crisp, drenched
night, long shot in the scene where Michael was on the field with his football team/coach and dialogue
in the scene where Michael graduates to Ole Miss University. Do you believe a young teenage boy can
transform someone to become a better person? Well, start believing! Hancock used these film
techniques to reinforce the way Michael was a positive influence on Sean Tuohy, the football
team/coach and Leigh Anne and made them exceptional people. ... Show more content on

Through the use of low key lighting, long shot and dialogue, Hancock made me recognize the
significance of friends and family by revealing to me the positive influence one young teenager can
have on a range of people in this case Michael is having a positive influence on Sean, his football
team/coach and Leigh Anne. Not only did Michael influence these characters in a positive way, but
they influenced him as well and changed him for the better. I m concerned about the fact that our
society is not improving instead it is becoming much worse with all the stereotyping that is rumoured.
Avoid stereotyping others because you are not going to receive anything from it apart from putting
others down. A million people did not believe in Michael at the start, but I am certain they changed
their view on him

An Analysis Of Edward Hopper s Nighthawks
To explain, Nighthawks was painted in 1942, right after the U.S. entered World War II. At the time,
the war dominated the culture that Americans lived in, and everything was focused on supporting the
war effort. Necessities such as food or clothing were rationed for troops, and neighborhood wide
drives were held to collect scrap metal. There were advertisements urging people to work for the
patriotic good, and newsreels about battles were shown in theaters before movies (The U.S. Home
Front During World War II). This atmosphere of intense focus and dedication was the result of fear.
The bombing of Pearl Harbor, which was what prompted the U.S. to become involved in the war, was
an invasion of the American consciousness, (Erenberg and Hirsch). ... Show more content on

His artistic career began as he studied at the Correspondence School of Illustrating in New York City
and then at the New York School of Art. While he initially started with learning about illustration, he
eventually began to study painting and drawing (Levin, Hopper). At the New York School of Art, he
was taught by William Merritt Chase, an Impressionist painter, and with Robert Henri, who was a
realist (Murphy). Perhaps being exposed to their teachings were what influenced the approach that
Hopper took to his artwork He traveled often to many places across Europe, but as mentioned before,
Paris was a particular favorite of his. He married Jo in 1923, and she became a huge part of his artistic
process. She kept detailed records of his pieces and often modeled for them; in fact, she was the one
who posed for the woman in Nighthawks (Levin, Edward Hopper: An Intimate Biography, 349).
Hopper struggled as an artist until the 1920s; his work was mostly ignored and unrecognized, and had
to make the majority of his sales from etching and prints. He finally achieved critical success after his
second one man show, Recent Watercolors by Edward Hopper, in which every single painting was
sold (Troyen, 63 64). From there, Hopper began to achieve national exposure and critical acclaim. His
artwork was exhibited in many galleries and collections, most

Change and Emotions in The Things They Carried by Tim...
Albert Einstein once said, The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be
changed without changing our thinking. This quote relates to Lieutenant Jimmy Cross from the short
story The Things They Carried, by Tim O Brien and the narrator from Cathedral, by Raymond Carver
in that they both change. Lieutenant Cross gets distracted by Martha, a girl he is in love with, during
the War and one of his man dies. The narrator from Carver s short story gets jealous about a blind man
his wife used to read to and is not happy that they are having him over their house. Even though the
narrator is very similar to Lieutenant Cross in that they both have a connection with someone that
makes them change, they are also very different in the emotions that they go through. These two
characters share many similarities throughout the short stories. They both go through an event that
makes them see things differently. Lieutenant Cross is in love with Martha even though he knows that
she is probably not in love with him. He gets too distracted with Martha and does not really focus at
his job as a lieutenant. One event that changed him was when Ted Lavender, one of his men, died.
This made him realize that he was too distracted by Martha and did not cared enough for his men. He
felt guilty and had to change his attitude towards his job. O Brien states: He would accept the blame
for what had happened to Ted Lavender. He would be a man about it. He would look them

My Last Soccer Game
Passes were flying, brisk and beautifully, to their intended targets. The kicks, arched with perfection,
barely kissed the ground before their departure was rocketed off in direction of the stark white goal
posts. As I gazed around the field, I gathered this sense of calm from my team mates. The scoreboard
counted down towards start of the game as the breeze whispered to me a silent farewell. But the
breeze wasn t my concern at this point; we were about to play Richland center and I had a good
feeling that today was going to be one to remember.
Coach called everyone over to the gleaming metal benches located on the Richland center Track that
surrounds the football field. In this instance however, it also doubled as the soccer ... Show more

Richland center raced towards our goal at lightning pace down the left sideline. This is when instinct
kicked in, and I assumed center stage along with the streaking orange RC player.
The world in my eyes had changed. Nothing mattered more to me at this moment then shutting down
that player. I had done this over a hundred times. I was on them in a flash, but that split second was all
it took. I felt a pop. The ball was out of bounds and I was on the ground. But why was I on the
ground? This had never happened before. The Richland center player capitalized on my lapse in
concentration and restarted the play before I could think any longer on the matter. And that s when I
knew something was wrong. Everything sort of stopped; all noise became absolutely pin drop silent. I
couldn t even feel the sting of the cold breeze. The only thing that mattered was stopping them from
scoring. We had worked to hard for me to give up. I kicked the ball out of bounds once again. The
world was sort of coming back at this point. And all I could hear was people yelling at me to sit down.
Why would I want to sit down? They were going to score; I couldn t let them do that. The team
shouldn t be asking me to do anything of the sort. That s when I noticed I was limping. Why was I
limping? I only fell for a few seconds. But there was that question again, Why did I fall? I didn t have

  • 3. Two Other Philosophers, John Locke, And George Berkeley Two other philosophers, John Locke, and George Berkeley have shown similar theories to the discussion from the ideas presented by Plato. Unlike Plato who argues that we cannot determine what is true or real based on experience, Locke argues that all knowledge which we use to determine what is true or real comes from experience. And similar to Plato, Berkeley argues that only our ideas are the only thing that is real. Locke also argues in his essay that knowledge is not something people are born with. Locke differs from Plato, because Plato believes we do not know the true or ideal state of something. This is so because on Earth the physical realm, we only experience shadows , or reflections of the perfect ideal objects we have in our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Locke s second point in his argument is that knowledge comes from the senses and how we perceive the world. This means that all the knowledge society has acquired comes from the observations and reasoning people have made based on their perceptions. In his essay, Locke presents the idea of two fountains of knowledge. These fountains of knowledge is where all the ideas that we can have have come from. The first fountain of knowledge is sensation, which involves all the five senses of the human body. It is because of sensation we have ideas such as hot, the color orange, sweet, and bright. The second fountain of knowledge is experience, which helps explain the things we perceive from the first sense, such as reasoning, thinking, and knowing. Locke then separates experience into two categories, primary and secondary qualities. Primary qualities are qualities that an object can have without us needing to sense it such as size of an object or the way it is moving. An object will already have these qualities regardless if a person recognizes them or not. Secondary qualities are the other qualities such as color, or the sound an object makes when it hits the floor. These our qualities that exist in our mind, not qualities that an object has already on its own. A great example is wine. When it comes to wine many people have different experiences on how a wine tastes. Imagine one bottle of wine that is sampled by two different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However the Hutus and Tutsi are all Rwandese who speak the same language and they respect the same traditions and taboos. The differences between the Tutsi and Hutus were at the beginning in the early years was not based on the ethic or racial but it was because the coloniser supported and gave power to the other. Tutsi were recognized, as the king by the different groups that they were consider divine and responsible for fertility . When the Belgians passed on another ethnic difference to the Rwandese, Belgian supported the Hutus and overthrew the Tutsi royal family. This led the Tutsis to start fleeing the country to Uganda. At that period of time Rwanda was a state dominated by Habyarimana who was Hutu, the international community did step in to put pressure on promoting Human rights violations against the government but the president and his inner circle did everything to prevent democracy . Evidently this will bring sort of jealousy and anger towards other ethnic. On April 6 1994 the president Habyarimana was returning where he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Questions On The Legal Right The overarching question which this essay will address is whether Stephanie has any legal right to Sunderlandland or Sunderland. The essay will analyse three subsidiary questions, the first being whether the Sunderland was a fixture or remained a chattel, if it was a fixture then the new owner of the land also acquired ownership rights to it. The second issue is whether there was a valid contract, a binding agreement to sell and transfer land in return for the payment of an agreed price , between Stephanie and Wangle for Sunderlandland. In relation to this, the final question being whether Stephanie was able to use the defence of proprietary estoppel, which revolves around the idea that if a verbal promise is made to someone who ... This is because when using the first test Thompson proclaims that only if the item, cannot be removed without destroying that structure... it will regarded as being part of the land , but was held that the looms could easily be removed without any serious damage to the flooring. Conversely, in Chelsea Yacht and Boat Co Ltd v Pope the damage to the land was considered a significant factor as the Court of Appeal deemed the degree of annexation of the houseboat which was moored on the Thames to be insufficient as Tuckey LG stated: the houseboat could be moved quite easily without injury to itself or the land. However, Berkley v Poulett undermined the importance of the degree of annexation as Scarman LJ declared it may now prove nothing as, the second test, purpose of the annexation takes precedence. The purpose of annexation is judged upon whether the item has been so fixed for the better enjoyment of the object or to affecting a permanent improvement of the freehold . Leigh v Taylor corroborates Scarman as the court held that the tapestries were chattels as although they were affixed to the walls, the purpose of the annexation was for the tapestry to be enjoyed as an ornament rather than to enhance the building . The case of Mew v Trismire further strengthens Scarman s contention, as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Self Awareness And The Social Work Self awareness and the use of self is a key component in social work practice. Depending upon how one integrates their personal being and accompanying thoughts, experiences, emotions, and consciousness into the helping profession has a profound impact on whether that integration is positive or negative, particularly when it comes to that of one s relationships with their clients. While remaining impartial is often critical to effective social work practice, the complete separation of self from one s professional practice is not only impossible to realize, but would arguably have less of a meaningful impact with one s relations with clients as well as self. Understanding the use of self and the importance of self awareness in the social work profession is the first step in establishing a healthy means of practicing and the impact that our own individuality has when interacting with clients. In this paper I will analyze, and further critically reflect upon, four academic journals on the topic of the use of self in social work; later applying this learning to an experience from my field placement. In their article, The Integration of Personal and Professional Selves: Developing Students Critical Awareness in Social Work Practice , Jay Marlowe, Cherie Appleton, Shirley Ann Chinnery, and Stuibra Van Stratum (2015) interestingly explored the concepts of self awareness and use of self at the stage immediately prefacing the career level. Observing The Mega Picture And Paradigm Shift Jason Weinhaus 9/20/16 Martin Wells Comparative Planetology Observing the Mega picture and Paradigm Shifts The definition of paradigm shift is a fundamental change in approach or underlying assumptions. The paradigm shift that John Mcphee refers to in Basin and Range is the transition from pre tectonic plate geology also know as old geology and the geology after the introduction of the now widely accepted plate tectonic theory. Mcphee uses geologist Kenneth Deffeyes as a focal point by observing how an old geologist can work after such an upheaval in ideology. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was the first person to come up with the idea of Pangea. Kenneth Deffeyes is best known for his discovery of a connection between what was happening on the seafloor and in the state of Nevada. His first encounter with the concept of continental drift was when scientist J. Tuzo Wilson of The University of Toronto and Fred Vine from Cambridge University published a paper which they defined an oddly isolated piece of the mid ocean ridge off the coasts of Oregon and Washington. It was a spreading center of what would eventually become known as Juan de Fuca Plate, one of the smallest of all the crustal plates in the world. The volcanoes of the Cascades Mt. Hood, Mt. Rainier, Mt.St. Helens, Glacier Peak were lined up behind its trench (Mcphee, Pg 136). This idea was only a hypothesis at the time, but Deffeyes was eager to either confirm or disprove it. He made it very clear that Continental drift is one hypothesis ill get seasick for (Mcphee, Pg.136). Deffeyes proximity to the area in question and clearance to use high tech equipment made going on this voyage a no brainer. Deffeyes went out to dredge the rock, but first he had to find the ridge, so he made a long pass with his echo sounder tracing the profile of the bottom. • 8. The Tax Laws And The United States Constitution Ever since the ratification of the 16th amendment to the United States Constitution, Americans have faced the burden of federal income taxes. Income taxes were first proposed as a better way of gathering revenue, as well as an effective measure to manipulate economic spending. However, the current tax code bears very little resemblance to the relatively simple codes that were originally written into law. Today s tax laws have grown astonishingly complex and unequally distributes the burden of tax liabilities. Our country should confront the issues derived from the increasing complexity of the tax laws and equally distribute the obligations to each taxpayer. Virtually all citizens and politicians alike, agree that the current tax code is entirely too complex, yet nearly every year the system gets more complicated, not less. The reason is that simplicity almost always clashes with the other goals within the tax policy. Most people believe income taxes should be enforceable, fair, and beneficial to economic wealth, all while maintaining simplicity. But even those who agree on the necessity of these goals often disagree about the hierarchical importance of each. As a result, the tax policies usually represent a portion of each competing goal, leaving no room for simplicity. For example, most countries tailor tax liabilities to the characteristics of the individual taxpayer. That can make taxes more fair, but also more complex. Income must first be traced from a business to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main character Travis Bickle, played by Robert De Niro, is a United States Marine returning home after serving his country. Taxi Driver appears to demonstrate the theory of Social Disorganization. The audience can see this throughout the film in scenes where Bickle is driving through the city. As the film continues Bickle appears to struggle with adjusting to such a large city and coping with his sanity. This film takes a look at how Social Disorganization along with a mental illness can contribute to someone s actions and behavior. Travis Bickle is an extremely complex individual. It appears Bickle s mental state is deteriorating after serving four years in the United States Marine Corps and seeing combat action in Vietnam. Bickle sees that crime is rampant within the city and refers to these individuals as scum. Bhopal, Bhopal And Its Effects Thirty years ago in Bhopal, India, an accident at the Union Carbide pesticide plant led to around thirty tons of highly toxic gases to fill the air and spread through the nearby towns. When the accident occurred, over 600,000 people were exposed to the very deadly gas. Over the past years, 15,000 people have been killed by the disaster and it s effects. (Union Carbide Corporation, 2001 2014) Toxic material still remains in Bhopal to this day. (Taylor, 2014) This accident occurred in 1984 at the Union Carbide plant, which had been established in Bhopal in 1969. Reports began months before the disaster of the possibility of a huge accident. Staff had been being laid off for weeks prior and that had led to less and less safety checks. (Taylor, 2014) The gas that leaked is named Methyl Isocyanine. Methyl Isocyanine is used as a popular pesticide. When in it s liquid form, the chemical is odorless and very flammable. In a gas though, it is highly toxic and irritating. The organic compound can also be found in small amounts in certain cigarettes. Union Carbide was using Methyl Isocyanate as an intermediate. Methylamine was made to react with phosgene to produce the Methyl Isocyanate, which then reacts with 1 naphthol to form carbonyl, which is the final product. The accident was triggered when water entered Tank E610, which contained more than 40 tons of methyl isocyanate, initiating a runaway reaction. People from around the world would immigrate to Canada to make a new beginning for themselves, to get away from their nationwide issues in their own countries. Canada would welcome them with open arms and offer them residence, help them get a job, and give them some money to start their new lives. The Canadian government s promises towards the First Nations are being neglected. This research paper explores the mistreatment of aboriginals to this day. This is proven by the government stealing the First Nations land, also the government putting the aboriginal community into reserves, and finally the discrimination that has and is still occurring towards the First Nations. The First Nations experienced numerous traumatic events when the British invaded their lands. It all started with the Indian Act in 1867. The British believed that their culture was superior to the First Nations and therefore they should rule and have all the power. The British wanted to add Christianity and agriculture to the indigenous population. So the government proceeded to create the Indian Act which essentially gave the Indian handlers more power to civilize the First Nations. The Indian handlers would now be able to manage the First Nations land, their money and resources. The Indian Act was created due to the belief ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jewett began writing in the style of the author of her inspiration and thus fell in love with the style of writing that encapsulated nearly every author of her time, local color writing. Local color writing is a style of writing that became popular just after the Civil War. Many writers began writing with a focus on the way of life and nature in their direct surrounding areas and regions. As mentioned by The Norton Anthology: American Literature Volume 2, local color writing embodies the depiction of, ...the topographies, people, speech patterns, and modes of life of the nation s distinctive regions (412). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each of these individually would not make up color writing but once they are all pieced together they create an environment so familiar to Jewett and those who know the coast of Maine well. Jewett writes the story as if the land is capable of enchantment and the reader gets that feel with each description of the land. This too is a crucial aspect of local color, specifically when it comes to satisfying the topography category. While each description of the land may not entirely be specific to Maine, it is their author that constructs such a combination that the land comes alive and is a crucial piece of the story just as crucial as the characters themselves. The characters in A White Heron are not entirely specific to Maine, but their speech patterns as well as their way of life are for sure. The first example of how the characters add to the local color of the story is when the ornithologist first meets Sylvia. The stranger first met Sylvia out in nature while Sylvia was walking with her grandmother s cow. The stranger was not in a place that he knew well and asked Sylvia about where the road is. Sylvia helped the stranger because he had lost his way. This is a great example of how A White Heron is local color writing. Topic Blended families are created from a diverse sets of needs as a result of family life changes, such as divorce or death, and these changes result in situations where both adults and children find themselves living with step family members stemming from both sides of the no longer intact family structure. Deal (2014), a leading author and marriage therapist, likens the blended family to a 3 D puzzle that a person is trying to complete without the benefit of instructions or even a picture as a point of reference. Each family is different in roles and their structure; however, most members desire healthy outcomes and basic principles for creating well functioning family units. Bill brought two children (a 9 year old son and an 8 year old daughter) into the marriage, and Bill and Dawn now have two biological children (a 7 year old daughter and a 4 year old daughter). The insight that they bring to the topic of blended families comes from the past nine years of striving to create a healthy family unit. . History According to Lisa Zeleznikow and John Zeleznikow (2015), over 40% of adults in the United States have at least one step relative living with them. This paper delves into that issue. Insurance Companies and Hurricane Sandy From news reports it would appear that insurance companies did not provide the emergency assistance that victims of Hurricane Sandy had hoped for. This is not to say that all insurance companies failed to deliver the help that their policyholders expected, but clearly some companies failed to deliver, and their efforts were not always in sync with FEMA and the NF Office of Emergency Management. Why Do We Have The Right To Bear Arms The Second Amendment states, A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The Second Amendment was adopted on December 15, 1791, as part of the first ten amendments in the Bill of Rights. Many arguments have been thrown around saying that the terminology of the Second Amendment is very outdated and the Second Amendment needs to be rewritten or repealed altogether. The right to bear arms gives the people the power to resist a tyrannical government. The Right to Bear Arms has been a fundamental right just as the freedom of speech and the rest of the amendments since the Bill of Rights have been ratified. Some people think and feel that law abiding citizens should not be able to own any guns and that we are supposed to allow the government to keep us safe. Some think that the Second Amendment is the most important amendment because it keeps the government from being able to impose tyranny. When representing all characters on a keyboard, an exclusive pattern of 7 or 8 bits in size is used. The use of 7 bits means that 128 different elements can be represented, while 8 bits can represent 256 elements. At the receiving end the process is reversed to show the character key strike instead of the binary code. The most commonly used code patterns are the Extended Binary Coded Decimal (EBCDIC) and the American Standard Code for Information Interchange codes (ASCII). Both coding schemes support all the normal alphabetic, numeric, and punctuation characters, more commonly referred to as printable characters and a range of additional control characters, known as non printable characters. The Argument Of Violent Video Games Learning is a deep human need, like mating and eating, and like all such needs it is meant to be deeply pleasurable to human beings. ― James Paul Gee, Why Video Games Are Good for Your Soul: Pleasure and Learning. Some people have controversial argument that violent video games should be banned, claiming about the content of video games can change the behavior and attitudes of the players. Since the early 2000s, advocates of video games have emphasized their use as an expressive medium, arguing for their protection under the laws governing freedom of speech and also as an educational tool. Violent video games allow players to divert their aggression into the virtual world instead of the real one. Video games have become not only a form of entertainment, but also another way for people to escape reality and to enter their own virtual fantasy. James Gee explains that, if you blame violent video games for horrific events that have occurred is much like putting the blame on food for the cause of obesity. According to the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), 58 percent of all Americans play video games, and nearly half of Americans over 50 play. The organization also found that 45 percent of gamers are women and that the average gamer is 30 years old. Gameplay is also on the rise one study shows that average daily video game play among kids ages 8 to 18 rose from 26 minutes per day in 1999 to almost 110 minutes (nearly two hours) per day by 2009. The numbers are even higher for boys, 25 percent of whom play video games for four or more hours per day. Violent video games should not be ban because violent video games can be good for developing cognitive, physical, and many more hidden skills, help to understand and learn to control emotions, and banning violent video games is against the fourteenth amendment of the United States. Consuming one particular caffeine filled drink can almost always solve the morning grogginess and lack of motivation for the majority of people. Coffee has become part of the daily routine for the majority of people all around the world, and due to the constant demand for coffee, there are numerous multi million and multi billion dollar successful coffee chain companies that can be found internationally and all over the globe. While Schultz attended Northern Michigan University pursuing a degree in Communications, he probably never envisioned that one day he would be leading such a successful and prominent business. Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin In The Sun The Importance of the Struggle in A Raisin in the Sun Why do some people persist despite insurmountable obstacles, while others give up quickly or never bother to try (Gunton 118)? A Raisin in the Sun, a play by Lorraine Hansberry, is a commentary on life and our struggle to comprehend and control it. The last scene in the play between Asagai and Beneatha contrasts two contemporary views on why we keep on trying to change the future, and reaches the conclusion that, far from being a means to an end, the real meaning of life is the struggle. Whether we succeed or not, our lives are purposeful only if we have tried to make the world a better place for ourselves and others only, in other words, if we follow our dreams. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was in this sort of mood that Beneatha formulated an idea about the sheer stupidity and cruelty of nature in general and people in specific: Don t you see there isn t any real progress, there is only one large circle that we march in, around and around, each of us with our own little picture in front of us our own little mirage that we think is the future (Hansberry. Raisin). Misery and stupidity are always present: man does not seem capable of eliminating them once and for all. Their existence conspires to thwart dreams, and Beneatha decided that she was tired of the struggle, tired of deluding herself with an unworkable vision, tired of having to fight against the unchangeable facts of life a view she might have kept, as many have, if it were not for Asagai s gentle reasoning. For Asagai, the struggle to achieve our own views of the future was the real essence of life. His was the generation of African dreamers who passionately advocated the independence of their continent from colonial rule, for whom revolution and upheaval were generally perceived as the only ways to improve the lot of their homelands. • 39. Slavery Argument Against Slavery Slavery, though it was an inexcusable, helped shape the nation that we live in today. In the last few weeks, I have become much more knowledgeable on the topic of slavery. People on both sides of the slavery argument (pro slavery and anti slavery) earnestly believed in what they stood for. The resistance to the end of slavery was likely out of fear, but some of the proslavery arguments were completely ridiculous. John C. Calhoun once noted that slavery was necessary to keep the United States from having internal conflicts. He believed that it was the free blacks that caused the social disturbances in the North. Numerous southern slave owners held this same view, in fact, many were convinced that the South was exempt from these disturbances because many of the African Americans were slaves and had no means to cause these public disturbances. For these Southerners, slavery was not just a practice, but a way of life. They feared what would happen if slavery was to be abolished. This is proven because, years before the civil war was even a thought, the South was already starting to get defensive about the question of slavery. Even though the practice of slavery was a big part of how Southerners lived their daily lives, Calhoun s argument of why slavery was a necessary good lacked foundation. Under no circumstances is acceptable to treat another human being as property. It makes no difference as to whether or not they are of an inferior race, color, or cognitive ... A study by Vafeiadou et al. (2015), showed that dietary replacement of saturated fats (SFAs) by unsaturated fats did not improve cardiovascular function, but did result in beneficial effects on cardiovascular biomarkers. In this randomized, controlled, single bind study 195 men and women at moderate risk for cardiovascular disease, were randomly assigned to a 16 week isoenergetic diet that were either rich in SFAs, MUFAs, or polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). The primary cardiovascular measurement of function was flow mediated dilation, and secondary measurements were blood pressure, arterial stiffness, and serum levels of various biomarkers (lipids, glucose, insulin resistance). The results of this study showed that replacing a SFA diet with those of MUFAs or PUFAs did not significantly change flow mediated dilation, or arterial stiffness, a process which probably occurs at a rate much slower than the scope of this study. There was a significant decrease in recorded blood pressure of the MUFA and PUFA diet groups, compared to the increase in blood pressure of the SFA diet group. The film s narrative in relation to its theme is the focal point of the film and it s main driving force. At the time, the war dominated the culture that Americans lived in, and everything was focused on supporting the war effort. Necessities such as food or clothing were rationed for troops, and neighborhood wide drives were held to collect scrap metal. There were advertisements urging people to work for the patriotic good, and newsreels about battles were shown in theaters before movies (The U.S. Home Front During World War II). This quote relates to Lieutenant Jimmy Cross from the short story The Things They Carried, by Tim O Brien and the narrator from Cathedral, by Raymond Carver in that they both change. Lieutenant Cross gets distracted by Martha, a girl he is in love with, during the War and one of his man dies. The narrator from Carver s short story gets jealous about a blind man his wife used to read to and is not happy that they are having him over their house.
