Suncor Case Study
AIR QUALITY
1.0 Terms of Reference
The terms of reference were given by the AENV 2007 which was issued by the Alberta Environment.
Under these regulations, the requirements were declared with respect to air quality measures. 2.0 Air

2.1 Screening
The study performed by Suncor primarily focused on long term effects, as short term effects were
innocuous to fauna and flora population. Suncor must focus on three respective phases during their
screening assessment to ensure adequate revision and risk mitigation. The pre construction air quality
phase as well as the operational phase air quality, and post project air quality. To simplify the measures

The pre construction terrestrial resources as well as the operational terrestrial resources, and post
project terrestrial resources. To simplify the measures Suncor should divide these into three sections
for the Voyager South Project. Terrestrial resources consider four components soil and terrain,
terrestrial vegetation wetlands and forest resources, wildlife and wildlife habitat, and biodiversity.
Suncor Energy Inc provides information on terrestrial resources required by AENV 2007. 3.2 Scoping

3.2.1 Temporal Scope
The temporal scope was not clearly outlined and assumptions were made that all development was
100 percent, and then reclaimed to closure for 100 percent. Only analysis on maximum disturbance
was made, even though development will be closed and reclaimed sequentially, therefore disturbance
at any given time will be less than assessed making the temporal scope highly inaccurate. 3.2.2 Spatial
Scope
The spatial boundary scope was well organized into categories. The SRSA was used for modelling old
growth forest. The LSA was established to focus on local effects and the RSA was focused on the Eco
district boundary, geographic and tophagraphic boundaries such as the eastern shoulder of the Birch
Mountains, woodland and caribou areas, average diameter of two moose ranges from the oil sands, the

Imagining the Future in Iraq Essay
Imagining the Future in Iraq
The future of Iraq remains unclear. There are those who have tried to categorize the current conflict as
the next Vietnam. Others have dubbed it the next Afghanistan, and others still see a future for Iraq
unlike any seen in history. In the midst of all this speculation, one thing is certain: eventually, the US
military must withdraw from occupied Iraq. As a matter of history, occupation does not last unless
there is a concomitant colonization and/or a significant population influx. Since the latter is absent
from the current situation in Iraq, it holds that an eventual American military withdrawal is inevitable.
Interestingly enough, the U.S. s divide and conquer method, i.e. one which attempts ... Show more

Just as in George Orwell s 1984, where the government was in the business of tampering with public
records to push their agenda, so too is the current administration sugar coating the truth with falsehood
and deceptively harming the American public by keeping them in the dark. Wouldn t it be ironic
though if Iraq managed, as in Iran, to take over the American Embassy and declare the independence
of its own theocratic state?
The current situation does after all mirror Iran s prior to the Revolution of 1979 in several ways. The
United States s presence was one that encouraged the political repression of those against the
established power in Iran and does the same today in Iraq. Further, Shias, who constitute sixty percent
of the Iraqi population and almost all of Iran s, tend to gather more than Sunnis in large groups during
such mourning holidays as Ashura and Arba een, and so have a ritual means of gathering en masse.
Also, just like the thousands of troops the U.S. has stationed around the country, so too did the Shah
employ tens of thousands of SAVAK agents, or secret police, to keep a tight grip on any potential
insurrection. Ultimately, the instability of the mass protests frightened the Shah and he fled to Egypt
shortly afterwards. In Iraq, escalating American deaths and an unstable situation could convince the

The Issue Of Horse Slaughter
In today s world dogs may very well be considered man s best friend, but in the days of old horses
weren t just man s best friend, they were the most important tool in his possession. From being a form
transportation to being used in competitions and battles to even being a source of food, horses have
always been an iconic figure in American history. Movies such as The Horse Whisperer, Dreamer, and
Flicka portray horses as majestic and powerful creatures full of grace and beauty that are much more
of a companion than a tool. This is quite possibly why the topic of horse slaughter has been such a
taboo in today s culture. While in many countries around the world horsemeat is considered a type of
delicacy, to most American s the idea of eating these exquisite creatures is hard to stomach. There are
people who see no wrong in slaughtering horses just like any other livestock animal, though others
find it inhumane and cruel. Those who are pro slaughter have many practical and economic reasons
for supporting it, while those opposed have ethical issues against it.
Proponents of the horse slaughter industry suggest it creates a source of income for many horse
owners. Horses are very expensive to own with the average annual cost of a horse being
approximately $3,876 per horse (Williams). Many horses are unwanted for several reasons, either they
don t have the potential the owner originally thought or they have gotten too old for work or the horse
may even be dangerous to be

The Short Term Memory Loss

The Short term Memory Loss
Memento is a great, unforgettable movie. Events throughout the film unfold in a confusing and
complicated way. The movie starts from the end of the beginning, in a nonlinear narrative. At times,
the story seems backward: after the main character, Leonard, loses his memory, he can only remember
up to his wife s brutal murder; he can t create new memories. Based on the revolving perspective of
the main character, who has to trust pictures, notes, and tattoos, the viewer learns not to trust anyone
in the film. This information is the foundation of Leonard s short term memory. The story is told in a
lurching backward motion, each scene jumps back in time, and ends where the previous one started;
then, the next one begins. Memento is a unique crime thriller that makes the viewer think deeply about
the endlessness of revenge, by using the cinematic techniques of a nonlinear narrative (1), repetition
(2), and the use of mirrors (3).
We are hooked from the beginning of Memento because it opens with murder, which seems like it
would be the end; Leonard s narrative is nonlinear or disjointed throughout the film. He is regularly
taking Polaroid pictures of places he goes or people he meets has to write down notes on pictures, take
pictures and get tattoos to remember things like who met recently. The last thing Leonard

A Pretty How Town
At one point or another in one s lifetime, people let go one thing to try and move on to something
bigger and better, whether it s a new job or new way of life. In its entirety, modernism is similar. It can
be defined as moving away from the traditional creations and activities towards news tasks formed by
the individualism and freedom within a man or woman. For instance, in the poem One Art by
Elizabeth Bishop, the speaker eventually moves on from his previous set of ideas to something new.
Similarly, in anyone lived in a pretty how town by E.E. Cummings, the main character doesn t feel
comfortable with the repetitious structure of the society he s placed in. This leads the main character to
form his own opinion, uncommon to his society, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem mentions that God will come down to save the world from dying while Satan leaves the
world, however, modernism always rejected religion, so mention God and Satan went against the
norm of society in that time period. In the current day, however, religion is widely accepted in poetry
unlike before. The poem also discussed an imaginary love story as it relates to the author, Sylvia Plath,
as she wrote this poem after she fell into depression due to her husband cheating on her. Throughout
all these poems from modernism, love and death seem to stand out as two big reoccurring themes.

result, they got trapped by heavy snowfall in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. While following the

Sea Power In The 19th And 20th Century
The sea presents the political and social view of a great highway, of better and commonly wide which
people may pass in all directions but on worn paths that led people to choose certain lines of travel.
These lines are called trade routes. Nevertheless, all the familiar and unfamiliar dangers of the sea,
both travel and traffic by water have always been easier and cheaper than by land. This advantage of
carriage by water was marked two hundred years ago when roads were few and very bad in an
unsettled society of frequent wars. Considering the experiences of Britain and U.S. in sea power
dominance, British displayed her dominance sea power and naval dominance in the 19th and 20th
century which resulted to the expansion of the British empire in North America, Australia, Asia, and
Africa. Britain s sea enterprise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Similarities Between Walter Lee And Frederick Douglass
Are We The Same or Nah? When two people are compared everyone pays attention to the similarities,
but not nearly as many people pay attention to the differences. Frederick Douglass was a slave in his
youth life and soon escaped to his freedom and became a writer. From A Raisin In The Sun, walter Lee
is a man of the middle class and thrives for money. When Frederick Douglass and Walter Lee are
compared there are multiple differences. These differences are work ethic, what is important, and also
loyalty. Many have worked hard like Frederick Douglass to reach their dreams, whereas others, such
as Walter Lee, will just wait for the good in life to happen to them or just give up.When Frederick
Douglass was a young boy he nobody bothered to supply slaves with an education. With this being

Authoritarian Leadership Style
How can group members adapt to work effectively if the leader is using an authoritarian style and the
group would prefer a more democratic style? As the chapter brought out it is not always a ruinous
event. Who in any group doesn t love a democratic style leader? Having experience with both and
depending on the group makeup and authoritarian leader is not always something I disagree with.
Nevertheless, the question that should be asked is, What is the group makeup? In working with
leadership that has an authoritarian style I have learned not to take it personally and to be open and
adaptable to every possibility, these two traits can be vital in this type of atmosphere. When I worked
in an environment where the authoritarian leader style was just that and the group would have

William felt the ever so soft caress of her fingers across his nametag. A thud the equivalent of the
deep, concussive boom of fireworks unleashed during the grand finale of a July 4th cascade pounded
in his chest. William s knees turned to Jell O. He stumbled backwards into the table and managed to
steady himself without upending the entire array of refreshments. A piece of half eaten miniature
carrot caught in his throat. William coughed in a reflexive fit, but the burst of air failed to dislodge the
meddlesome vegetable from his throat. Terror gripped William as the once easy breathes refused to
traverse the carrot. The panic intensified when the specter of someone giving him the Heimlich
maneuver in front of this exotic woman materialized in his mind. William punched his chest with his
right fist, buckled over, and coughed violently. The carrot dislodged and launched from his mouth,

Childhood Family Relationships
Parental child relationships seem to be linked to the health of an individual as they continue through
adulthood. Relationships that are comforting and emotionally important in a child s life are linked to
better overall health in the lifespan of an individual. In this article review, there will be a continual
referral to the behavior model depicted in Chen, Brody, and Miller s article on Childhood Close
Family Relationships and Health (CITE). ...this model proposes that characteristics of family
relationships including support, conflict, obligation, and parenting behaviors evolve and change from
childhood to adolescence. These characteristics, when considered in conjunction with developmental
needs, govern whether childhood family relationships are based on balance positive enough to fill a
moderating role in which they mitigate the effects that childhood adversities have on physical health.
Studies on the main effects of childhood family relationships on health have done much to show a
definitive correlation between childhood family conflicts and poor health. Specifically, conflicts or
adversities such as emotional abuse, physical abuse, and sexual abuse toward a child, parental mental
health, parental substance abuse problems, and parental divorce have a been linked to poor health in
adult individuals (CITE!!!). There have been a been studies on both the negative and positive family

Sexual Offenders And The Modus Operandi Of Fenders
Your Voice:
Child sex abuse is an increasingly contemporary social problem. It is relatively neglected due to many
alleged offences being reported, long after they occurred or not being disclosed at all. I was
immediately interested in this article as I am very fascinated by the psychological and theoretical
explanations behind sexual offenders and the modus operandi of the offenders. This study produces
quantitative data which gives a comprehensive view about the subject. Not only does it research into
interfamilial offenders but also into extrafamilial, mid type and deniers. Thus generating an extensive
range of different types of criminals within the same topic. I found this article engaging to read as the
facts and figures gave a clear understanding to how many offences of child abuse are actually
prosecuted. It was frightening to read that the majority of the participants were interfamilial offenders,
suggesting an ultimate betrayal between the offender and the victim, plus the victims family. This
deeper level of scrutiny instantly made the article become more interesting. I am particularly keen to
discover how the offender selects the specific victim and how he/she fits the required needs of their
characteristics. Both Smallbone and Wortley note this study is shorthand of a much more detailed in
depth version.

The authors, Dr Smallbone and Dr Wortley believed that this study was necessary to conduct as the

Brief Analysis Of John Steinbeck s Life And Work
John Ernst Steinbeck Jr. was born on February 27, 1902 in Salinas, California. He was one of three
children, and the only male, born to John Ernst Steinbeck (father) and Olive Hamilton (mother).
Growing up, John s family lived in a small town where he would spend his summer working on farms
and ranches. Working on the farm gave him inspiration to write about the scenery, and many times, he
would write whenever he had free time in the laboratory of Spreckels Sugar Company. Seeing the
migrant workers also gave John an opportunity to see the hardships and troubles that many go through
just to stay in the United States, and he would use this to create stories later on in life Upon graduating
high school, John decided to attend Stanford University to study English Literature. However, despite
his time there, John was unable to earn a degree and was forced to look for work. New York City was
his first destination, but unable to publish anything there, John moved back to California, where he
would meet his first wife, Carol, while working as a tour guide and caretaker in Lake Tahoe.

Women Were Working In Factories Dbq Essay
Women who were working in factories were severely impacted socially and economically during the
nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Young women were found to dominate the silk and textile
factories, however, they did not receive the same pay as men. The chart referencing gender and age of
silk factory workers in five English Towns in 1833 reveals that 63 to 96% of the workers were female,
which of those were 35 to 53% under the age of 16. (Document A). The chart referencing gender and
age of silk factories in Nagano, Japan in 1901 show that 12,519 females worked in 205 mills, which
was 92% of the population. The ages of the female workers reveal that 18% were 14 and under, 48%

Not only did men have a higher pay, they would target women for sexual abuse, despite what they

factory work would only be temporary for them. As many of the females are young, the government

compared to workers in the West (Document F). The Meiji Government intended its audience to be
everyone; to show that the government has good intentions for the female worker, and provides better
care of them than in the West. However, Sakura Takuji recalls her life differently as a mill girl. Not

during work, as well as sexual abuse from low ranking supervisors who believed the women were

The case of Tyler Clementi is a clear example of bullying.
Feldman (2012) has noted that male adolescents are five times more likely to commit suicide than
females, although females attempt suicide more often than males (P.365). Males use more lethal
methods than females. Adolescent males use firearms, hanging, or jumping from height as method of
suicide while females tend to commit suicide by overdosing on drugs and cutting themselves. Parents
who own guns at home must unload, lock, and keep this item out of adolescent reach as a preventive
action. Parents must also control all prescription drugs in the house because it is easy access for
teenagers to harm themselves.
Occasionally, some people try to kill themselves just by putting their lives in danger, and they use self
destructive behavior. Some behavior are drugs and alcohol abuse, overeating, self starvation, bulimia,
smoking, reckless driving, stunts and dares, promiscuity and sexual risk taking, and those actions can
lead to injury or loss of life.
Suicidal Thoughts
Adolescents who are thinking about suicide often feel lonely, different. Here are some thoughts and
feelings that a suicidal adolescent may have:

I d rather feel pain than feel nothing.

I just want the pain to stop.

Jay Cohen and two friends established an online gaming site on the islands of Antigua and Barbuda;
they named the organization World Sports Exchange (WSE). Mr. Cohen was prosecuted by the U.S.
government; his conviction resulted in a battle between the U.S. and the two small Caribbean islands

In regards to online gaming, horse racing is a legal sporting event where betting is allowed to take
place online and across state lines. That fact alone makes the U.S. government s argument of morality
null and void. There is no difference between gambling on a horse race and betting on a sporting
event. Legislation that attempts to control individual choice is an infringement on civil liberties and
has not proven successful in the past, particularly with prohibition on gambling and alcohol. Mr.
Cohen lost a significant amount of his life because he was convicted on a ridiculous charge. Where is
the morality in that? Gambling continues to gain in popularity and many states are embracing the
industry in order to boost tourism, increase revenue, and create jobs. This trend will probably continue
as people begin to realize that the government should not decide whether or not a person can gamble.
This is a prime example of too much government; the country has more pressing issues to deal with
and should focus on problems that truly affect the American people.
Technological Environment Technology is a huge factor in this case because all WSE s transactions

Growth Hormone Research Paper
Hormones have been with you since birth. They helped you grow when you were a child. They
transitioned you from childhood to adulthood when you hit puberty. They help you regulate your body
temperature and blood sugar levels. The fact is that you would not be alive without them.
As your body begins to age, the levels of certain key hormones begin to decline also. With the decline
of these hormones, the body begins to show signs of aging. Declining muscle mass and a lack of sex
drive are just two signs that hormone levels are decreasing. The good news is that selective hormone
therapy can help reverse the signs of aging and begin to restore your youthful vigor.

As this hormone declines, it can cause sleeping problems, mood swings, and clouded thinking. It also
leads to higher levels of cortisol and lower levels of sex hormones. Therapy helps to reverse these
problems.
Growth hormone, also known as HGH, is necessary for the development and maintenance of various
organs and tissues. It helps increase muscle mass and strengthens bone structure. This hormone is
often used with children who have growth issues or anyone who has hormone deficiencies.
Testosterone serves functions in men. A man s body uses testosterone to stimulate the growth of facial
hair, increase sex drive, and produce sperm. Testosterone therapy helps men get more energy,
improved memory, better moods, improved muscle mass, and increase sexual stamina.
Testosterone is also critical for women. As testosterone levels decline as a woman ages, body mass
begins to decline, making it harder to keep a healthy weight. It also plays a role in sex drive and mood.
Estrogen levels are critical for women as they age. This hormone helps regulate bone growth,

Business Logistics And Logistics Of Ups
Business logistics
Introduction
The firm that would be assessed throughout this paper when referring to the topic of business logistics
is UPS. It is a well known courier service which operates in almost every nation in the world. UPS is
known for its quality services such as speedy delivery, best maintenance of cargo, and the providence
of a wide variety of tools that helps the customers in various different prospects, such as tracking
order. This paper would specifically emphasize upon the operations management and logistics of UPS
alongside performing a SWOT analysis of the firm. Finally, some suggestions will be provided which
may help the firm in performing better overall business logistics and operations management.
1 Critically evaluate the existing process flows in the operations management and logistics with
reference to a literature review on logistics theories.
Let s first have a look at the notion of logistics and then relate it with the operations management of a
courier service such as UPS. Logistics is the deemed as the actionable process of transporting and
temporarily storing different supplies. The category to which a company can efficiently and effectively
do these mentioned duties can differentiate its overall place in itsrelative industry. These mentioned
tasks related to transfer procedures are often a subset of the greatersystem of supply chain

Argumentative Essay On Wolfdogs
A wolf dog hybrid is just what the name states: a cross between a wolf and a domesticated dog. They
are a breed that attempts to add a wild side to man s best friend. Imagine giving a belly rub to a wolf,
it sounds fun and exciting. However, seeing that they are part wild animal, wolfdogs create a lot of
problems. Many wolfdogs are dangerous and cause harm to their owners and end up either being put
down or badly abused. Would it be better for everyone if wolfdogs are not allowed as pets or even
bred in the first place?
As previously stated, wolf dog hybrids can be very dangerous. During a wolf s adolescence there is a
great increase in hormones, thus causing their wild animal instincts and behaviors to kick in.
Furthermore, physical and mental maturity happen at different rates for dogs and wolves, this makes it
hard to predict when a hybrid will come to that full maturity. Hybrids are known for being
unpredictable. In 2003, Koa, a 1½ year old hybrid from Idaho, was euthanized after killing a 13 month
old boy. Despite the fact that this was not Koa s first time injuring a child, it still came as a shock
since Koa was said to be good natured. When asked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2000 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a report on the different breeds
of dogs involved in fatal human attacks in the United States between 1979 and 1998. According to the
report, out of 238 deaths that were studied, wolfdogs were involved in 14 cases, while Pit Bulls and
Rottweilers were involved in 122 of these deaths. Pit Bulls were involved in 22 American deaths in
2016 alone. It seems that hybrids aren t the big problem here. If other breeds of dangerous dogs, such
as Pit Bulls, are considered acceptable as pets, then why not wolfdogs? Raising and owning a wolfdog
is not for the inexperienced or faint hearted, however it can be done. If cared for and trained properly,
a hybrid could turn out to be an enjoyable

Influence Of English In The Japanese Language
2. English in the Japanese language
2.1. Adaption and Integration: Influence of English on Japanese Language Use
It has been many years since English was first introduced to Japanese society. In the progress of the
19th, 20th and 21st century, the English language was a continuous but varying influence on the
Japanese language and its culture. The result of this centuries long process is a Japanese language that
contains more than its fair share of English loanwords.
Although most Japanese people, even those of older age, are familiar with a lot of English loanwords,
this does not necessarily mean they are familiar with English. In my personal experience, I witnessed
a Japanese woman struggling to find the English word for elevator , despite ... Show more content on

These words, which are taken from English and used functionally in Japanese conversation primarily
by native speakers, often have an already existing, possible common Japanese equivalent. Therefore,
these loanwords could be considered redundant and quite double to an outsider. However, in certain
situations, the English word is greatly preferred, whereas the Japanese word would stand out strangely,
for reasons which will be thoroughly discussed in this section. These English loanwords in Japanese
language have been dubbed double loanwords , for the sake of creating an understandable and clear
term, specifically for this paper.
Notably, there are two domains where these double loanwords appear in Japanese speech; fashion and
food. These domains are not coincidental, as both have been heavily influenced by foreign culture.
Japanese fashion and Japanese Western style cuisine, or youshoku 洋食, are inspired largely by their
French, English and American equivalents. Although these Japanese styles do originate in Western
influence, they have been made their own by the Japanese fashion industry and the Japanese

Diabetes affects the periodontal condition by feeding harmful bacteria that thrives under your gums
with sugars from your blood circulation. With more bacteria attacking your body, your immune
system must fight much harder and has less energy to work on other issues like diabetes. Another risk
of having this bacteria living in your mouth is that these bacteria enter the blood system and attach to
the inner walls of the blood vessels forcing the immune system building a barrier around them and
slowly closing up the arteries. When the arteries getting narrower the heart must work harder to pump
the blood through and this cause increase in blood pressure. You must be aware of the affect of
smoking that cause systemic and oral problems as well. Nicotin from the cigarettes cause constriction
in the blood vessels that also increase blood pressure and result in less blood flowing through the gum
tissue. When this happens, the immune cells have no access to the harmful bacteria that cause the

Weather Associated On Weather Conditions
Generally to predict the future weather information we have to use the past weather reports. Todays
weather may not exactly match with weather of the same day in the privous year. The probability that
the weather condition of the day in consideration will match the same day in previous year is very
less. But the probability that it will match within the span of adjacent fortnight of previous year is very
high.So we can take the adjacent fortnights weather report into consideration to predict the current day
weather. To predict the future s weather condition, the variation in the conditions in past years must be
utilized. There are various approaches available in weather forecasting, from relatively simple

Artificial neural network was combined with the genetic algorithm to get the more optimized
prediction . An improved technique that uses artificial neural network with photovoltaic system was
proposed by Isa et al.that utilizes perceptron model with Levenberg Marquardt algorithm. Apart from
neural network Fuzzy logic has also been being used in weather prediction models. The rainfall was
classified into three fuzzy sets which can be predicted by making use of simple fuzzy rules . Also a
fuzzy self regression model was proposed by Lu Feng and Xu xiao Guang which makes use of the
form of self related sequence number according to observed number. The self related coefficients were
computed by making use of Fuzzy Logic . A combined approach of neural network with Fuzzy Logic
is being proposed for the weather prediction system. The work has applied principle component
analysis technique to the fuzzy data by making use of Autoassociative neural networks.
But the main problem with the methods discussed above is most of they don t provide any
mathematicalrelationship between different parameters. Data not been being mathematically described

that could be used for prediction is still desired. A new sliding window approach for the same is being
proposed in this text for weather prediction.

I Choose Maus by Art Spiegleman
I chose Maus by Art Spiegleman. To be honest, I learned about the book from a television show,
Comic Book Men. They were talking about a graphic novel that won the Pulitzer. That peaked my
interest, so I decided to research the topic of the book. When I discovered that it was an autobiography
about a complex relationship between a father and son, I firmly wanted to read it. The son learning of
his father s story of the holocaust was his way of to understand himself and his heritage and the
journey is fascinating. When this assignment for generalist practice two came up, I jumped at the
opportunity.
Maus is a graphic novel. A graphic novel is predominantly told with pictures over words. This novel in
particular relies on a strong and realistic artwork to tell its story along with the imagery of mice. The
novel was released in two parts, the book format is the two parts put together. It is divided into five
chapters, and has 296 pages. The first part was published in 1973 and was completed with the second
portion in 1991 to create the final complete book. This was clearly a labor of love and a tribute to his
father.
There are a multitude of issues in Maus. Loss of loved ones, couple s troubles, competition of dead
loved ones, are just to name a few. This treatment will be focused on repairing the father and son
relationship. Strained since childhood, their relationship has gotten progressively worse since the
death of Art s mother. Art struggles to understand his father on

Piracy in Somalia Essay
Piracy in Somalia has come about due to years of internal fighting and weakened government. With

millionaires because the government of those hostages will step in and pay the ransom (The effects of
the Somali pirates on aid). There is nothing stopping the pirates if people are just giving them what
they want as soon as they ask for it. The pirates have created a unique system that has easily allowed
them to continue to pirate with little conflict between one another. The former fishers, military, and
technicians have joined together and mutually have all the skills needed to pirate including; difficulties
of the navigation and handling ships, weapon and fighting training, and high tech equipment. They
happen to be in a spot where lots of cargo ships have to go through as well as Somalis in port cities
that tell the pirates when these ships are coming through. The pirates have a good distribution of
power and profits and, without a greedy leader, everyone gets paid and no one rebels which could

honey has also been used to treat ailments and fight infection. It has become a popular skin care
ingredient and many people enjoy using a honey face mask to cleanse, moisturize, and treat their skin.

water. An acne mask is made from 1/3 cup of warmed honey, one to three crushed aspirin, and three
tablespoons coconut, olive, or almond oil. After adding the crushed aspirin to the blended honey and
oil, apply the mask to skin. After ten to 15 minutes, rinse off the mask, and pat dry the face.
Moisture is important for all types of skin, but people suffering from acne should not use lotions and
creams that clog pores. A face mask that moisturizes and fights acne is the perfect solution. It is made
from one teaspoon each of plain yogurt and warmed honey. Mix the ingredients, apply the mask to the
face, leave on for between ten and 20 minutes, rinse with lukewarm water, and pat the face dry.
There are also honey face mask recipes designed for people seeking anti fungal, anti aging,
exfoliation, and skin calming benefits using only natural ingredients. With several items from the
kitchen cabinets and refrigerator, people can whip up honey based face masks to treat nearly any skin
condition. Not only will they save money, they will also avoid applying unknown and potentially

Why A Monument Is Important Essay
Everyone can learn from the world s history, but we don t always remember its history. This is where
monuments come in handy. Monuments are made in remembrance of an event that people feel
strongly about. Monuments are not just randomly thrown together, or at least shouldn t be. When
making a monument there are a few things that cannot be overlooked or discarded, like the fact s that
people can and will become attached to some monuments, and that the history behind where the
monument is built and its name are extremely important, and that all monuments must be created with
respect and respected once made. To start things off we will discuss how and why the attachment that
can occur between a monument and a person can not to be overlooked. As I said before, monuments
are built in remembrance of something that people feel strongly about. One of the many reasons
people can feel strongly about a monument or an event is because, that person may have been there for
the event. They could have had a loved one involved in the event, or they could just feel strongly
about what occurred during the event. For many, monuments are places that they can remember a
loved one that has been lost in a tragic event and pay respects to. This causes some ... Show more

should be treated with the utmost respect, so if respect cannot be shown to a monument, then it should

What Is The Conflict Of The Victorian Age
He Victorian age experienced a conflict between science and religion. The era found its orthodoxy
battered by movements of thoughts, like Positivism, Empiricism, Utilitarianism, Rationalism,
Liberalism and Marxism which assailed all honest minds with scepticism. There was the new Biblical
criticism and a spurt of scientific progress. They led the generation to secularization, agnosticism,
atheism and religious passivity.
Mostly, the writers of the age revolted against the deification of material progress. The poets were
perhaps the best interpreters of the age (Brett 18). They illustrated in their poems the religious temper,
its faith, doubts and conflicts of their time. The age these poets inherited was rather a fluid transitional
one. The dilemma of the age assaulted the poets very deeply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Victorian era (Joseph 305).
The progress of science had greatly influenced the temper of the age. Tennyson was conversant with
the concepts of geology, astrology and evolution, which contested and undermined the Biblical

Differences Between the Birds the Movie and the Birds...
The Birds The Birds, the movie was directed by Alfred Hitchcock and was based on the short story
The Birds written by Daphne du Murrier. If you would have read the book and then watched the
movie, you would see that very few things are the same. In both the short story and the movie flocks
of gulls, robins, crows, and sparrows join each other. This is really weird because different species of
birds never work together. The story and the film both have the same climate. It is cold and chilly; the
ground is frozen and it will be a black winter. The climate gives the versions of the story a creepy and

man, and the man s mother and younger sister. In the film, it shows more of the school and the
children then it does in the short story. The radio is also more involved in the short story then it is in
the film. More events happen in the film, such as the fire at the gas station and the restaurant. The film

Bible And Leadership In The New Oxford Annotated Bible
Throughout the class Bible and Leadership we the class have learned of leaders that caused great
change. The greatest leader of the The New Oxford Annotated Bible the man who gave birth to the
New Testament, Jesus Christ. The class textbook The Art of Leadership by Manning and Curtis splits
leadership into three types teacher, Hero and Ruler. The book even describes Jesus as a teacher since
teachers and rule breakers. It is apparent that Jesus is a rule breaker since he values worship over
societal rules Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands
before they eat. Jesus answered them And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of
your tradition? (New Revised Standard Version, Matthew 15.2,3) Jesus rocked the establishment
saying that the society should never trump the reason for society and that is the commandment. Jesus
was also a hero since he was responsible for great causes and noble works. In Jesus s time Judaism
and Jewish society was based around the concept of hierarchy, some people on top but most are on the
bottom. Jesus helped perpetuate egalitarian philosophy with a simple sentence Do to others as you
would have them do to you (New Revised Standard Version, Luke 6.31). This was and still is a great
cause to champion for, equality and fairness. Though the text described the concept of rulers as
aggressive, cold and calculative with the likes of Napoleon, Caesar and Hitler but even though Jesus
was none of those things he was still a ruler. A ruler that knew how to lead his disciples and followers.

  • 2. Suncor Case Study AIR QUALITY 1.0 Terms of Reference The terms of reference were given by the AENV 2007 which was issued by the Alberta Environment. Under these regulations, the requirements were declared with respect to air quality measures. 2.0 Air quality Environment 2.1 Screening The study performed by Suncor primarily focused on long term effects, as short term effects were innocuous to fauna and flora population. Suncor must focus on three respective phases during their screening assessment to ensure adequate revision and risk mitigation. The pre construction air quality phase as well as the operational phase air quality, and post project air quality. The pre construction terrestrial resources as well as the operational terrestrial resources, and post project terrestrial resources. To simplify the measures Suncor should divide these into three sections for the Voyager South Project. Terrestrial resources consider four components soil and terrain, terrestrial vegetation wetlands and forest resources, wildlife and wildlife habitat, and biodiversity. Suncor Energy Inc provides information on terrestrial resources required by AENV 2007. 3.2 Scoping + Public Involvement 3.2.1 Temporal Scope The temporal scope was not clearly outlined and assumptions were made that all development was 100 percent, and then reclaimed to closure for 100 percent. Only analysis on maximum disturbance was made, even though development will be closed and reclaimed sequentially, therefore disturbance at any given time will be less than assessed making the temporal scope highly inaccurate. 3.2.2 Spatial Scope The spatial boundary scope was well organized into categories. The SRSA was used for modelling old growth forest. The LSA was established to focus on local effects and the RSA was focused on the Eco district boundary, geographic and tophagraphic boundaries such as the eastern shoulder of the Birch Mountains, woodland and caribou areas, average diameter of two moose ranges from the oil sands, the Fort McMurray area and development of new ... • 3. Imagining the Future in Iraq Essay Imagining the Future in Iraq The future of Iraq remains unclear. There are those who have tried to categorize the current conflict as the next Vietnam. Others have dubbed it the next Afghanistan, and others still see a future for Iraq unlike any seen in history. In the midst of all this speculation, one thing is certain: eventually, the US military must withdraw from occupied Iraq. As a matter of history, occupation does not last unless there is a concomitant colonization and/or a significant population influx. Since the latter is absent from the current situation in Iraq, it holds that an eventual American military withdrawal is inevitable. Interestingly enough, the U.S. s divide and conquer method, i.e. one which attempts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just as in George Orwell s 1984, where the government was in the business of tampering with public records to push their agenda, so too is the current administration sugar coating the truth with falsehood and deceptively harming the American public by keeping them in the dark. Wouldn t it be ironic though if Iraq managed, as in Iran, to take over the American Embassy and declare the independence of its own theocratic state? The current situation does after all mirror Iran s prior to the Revolution of 1979 in several ways. The United States s presence was one that encouraged the political repression of those against the established power in Iran and does the same today in Iraq. Further, Shias, who constitute sixty percent of the Iraqi population and almost all of Iran s, tend to gather more than Sunnis in large groups during such mourning holidays as Ashura and Arba een, and so have a ritual means of gathering en masse. Also, just like the thousands of troops the U.S. has stationed around the country, so too did the Shah employ tens of thousands of SAVAK agents, or secret police, to keep a tight grip on any potential insurrection. Ultimately, the instability of the mass protests frightened the Shah and he fled to Egypt shortly afterwards. In Iraq, escalating American deaths and an unstable situation could convince the ... • 4. The Issue Of Horse Slaughter In today s world dogs may very well be considered man s best friend, but in the days of old horses weren t just man s best friend, they were the most important tool in his possession. From being a form transportation to being used in competitions and battles to even being a source of food, horses have always been an iconic figure in American history. Movies such as The Horse Whisperer, Dreamer, and Flicka portray horses as majestic and powerful creatures full of grace and beauty that are much more of a companion than a tool. This is quite possibly why the topic of horse slaughter has been such a taboo in today s culture. While in many countries around the world horsemeat is considered a type of delicacy, to most American s the idea of eating these exquisite creatures is hard to stomach. There are people who see no wrong in slaughtering horses just like any other livestock animal, though others find it inhumane and cruel. Those who are pro slaughter have many practical and economic reasons for supporting it, while those opposed have ethical issues against it. Proponents of the horse slaughter industry suggest it creates a source of income for many horse owners. Horses are very expensive to own with the average annual cost of a horse being approximately $3,876 per horse (Williams). Many horses are unwanted for several reasons, either they don t have the potential the owner originally thought or they have gotten too old for work or the horse may even be dangerous to be ... • 5. The Short Term Memory Loss Amina Diini Donavon Davidson English Composition 11/22/16 The Short term Memory Loss Memento is a great, unforgettable movie. Events throughout the film unfold in a confusing and complicated way. The movie starts from the end of the beginning, in a nonlinear narrative. At times, the story seems backward: after the main character, Leonard, loses his memory, he can only remember up to his wife s brutal murder; he can t create new memories. Based on the revolving perspective of the main character, who has to trust pictures, notes, and tattoos, the viewer learns not to trust anyone in the film. This information is the foundation of Leonard s short term memory. The story is told in a lurching backward motion, each scene jumps back in time, and ends where the previous one started; then, the next one begins. Memento is a unique crime thriller that makes the viewer think deeply about the endlessness of revenge, by using the cinematic techniques of a nonlinear narrative (1), repetition (2), and the use of mirrors (3). We are hooked from the beginning of Memento because it opens with murder, which seems like it would be the end; Leonard s narrative is nonlinear or disjointed throughout the film. He is regularly taking Polaroid pictures of places he goes or people he meets has to write down notes on pictures, take pictures and get tattoos to remember things like who met recently. The last thing Leonard ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. A Pretty How Town At one point or another in one s lifetime, people let go one thing to try and move on to something bigger and better, whether it s a new job or new way of life. In its entirety, modernism is similar. It can be defined as moving away from the traditional creations and activities towards news tasks formed by the individualism and freedom within a man or woman. For instance, in the poem One Art by Elizabeth Bishop, the speaker eventually moves on from his previous set of ideas to something new. Similarly, in anyone lived in a pretty how town by E.E. Cummings, the main character doesn t feel comfortable with the repetitious structure of the society he s placed in. This leads the main character to form his own opinion, uncommon to his society, ... The poem mentions that God will come down to save the world from dying while Satan leaves the world, however, modernism always rejected religion, so mention God and Satan went against the norm of society in that time period. In the current day, however, religion is widely accepted in poetry unlike before. The poem also discussed an imaginary love story as it relates to the author, Sylvia Plath, as she wrote this poem after she fell into depression due to her husband cheating on her. Throughout all these poems from modernism, love and death seem to stand out as two big reoccurring themes. Each poem mentioned losing a loved one in shape or another which brings up the question, why did these authors these poems detailing their lives instead of keeping it ... Sea Power In The 19th And 20th Century The sea presents the political and social view of a great highway, of better and commonly wide which people may pass in all directions but on worn paths that led people to choose certain lines of travel. These lines are called trade routes. Nevertheless, all the familiar and unfamiliar dangers of the sea, both travel and traffic by water have always been easier and cheaper than by land. This advantage of carriage by water was marked two hundred years ago when roads were few and very bad in an unsettled society of frequent wars. A thud the equivalent of the deep, concussive boom of fireworks unleashed during the grand finale of a July 4th cascade pounded in his chest. William s knees turned to Jell O. He stumbled backwards into the table and managed to steady himself without upending the entire array of refreshments. A piece of half eaten miniature carrot caught in his throat. William coughed in a reflexive fit, but the burst of air failed to dislodge the meddlesome vegetable from his throat. Terror gripped William as the once easy breathes refused to traverse the carrot. The panic intensified when the specter of someone giving him the Heimlich maneuver in front of this exotic woman materialized in his mind. Legislation that attempts to control individual choice is an infringement on civil liberties and has not proven successful in the past, particularly with prohibition on gambling and alcohol. • 34. What Is The Conflict Of The Victorian Age He Victorian age experienced a conflict between science and religion. The era found its orthodoxy battered by movements of thoughts, like Positivism, Empiricism, Utilitarianism, Rationalism, Liberalism and Marxism which assailed all honest minds with scepticism. There was the new Biblical criticism and a spurt of scientific progress. They led the generation to secularization, agnosticism, atheism and religious passivity. Mostly, the writers of the age revolted against the deification of material progress. The poets were perhaps the best interpreters of the age (Brett 18). They illustrated in their poems the religious temper, its faith, doubts and conflicts of their time. The age these poets inherited was rather a fluid transitional one. What he lacked was the dramatic power of the Elizabethans. Tennyson was the most representative poet of the Victorian era (Joseph 305). The progress of science had greatly influenced the temper of the age. Tennyson was conversant with the concepts of geology, astrology and evolution, which contested and undermined the Biblical beliefs, evoking crisis in faith. He was at once mystical and sceptical in his own temper, and so was fit to become the spokesperson of the doubts and unbelief, and the quest for religious certainties of his age (Kalla 118). • 37. Differences Between the Birds the Movie and the Birds... The Birds The Birds, the movie was directed by Alfred Hitchcock and was based on the short story The Birds written by Daphne du Murrier. If you would have read the book and then watched the movie, you would see that very few things are the same. In both the short story and the movie flocks of gulls, robins, crows, and sparrows join each other. This is really weird because different species of birds never work together. The story and the film both have the same climate. It is cold and chilly; the ground is frozen and it will be a black winter. The climate gives the versions of the story a creepy and suspenseful feeling. Each version also has the main characters boarding up the windows. Anyone who thought the birds won t attack are ... The radio is also more involved in the short story then it is in the film. More events happen in the film, such as the fire at the gas station and the restaurant. The film shows more details then the short story and helps you visualize the attacks more. There is no real ending to the short story. The readers are just left hanging with the family in the house, fearing for their lives and showing that the father is giving up by smoking the last cigarette. In the film the characters are able to slip out of the house during a time when the birds weren t attacking and drive away to San Francisco, or at least away from Bodega ... • 38. Bible And Leadership In The New Oxford Annotated Bible Throughout the class Bible and Leadership we the class have learned of leaders that caused great change. The greatest leader of the The New Oxford Annotated Bible the man who gave birth to the New Testament, Jesus Christ. The class textbook The Art of Leadership by Manning and Curtis splits leadership into three types teacher, Hero and Ruler. The book even describes Jesus as a teacher since teachers and rule breakers. It is apparent that Jesus is a rule breaker since he values worship over societal rules Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands before they eat. Jesus answered them And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? (New Revised Standard Version, Matthew 15.2,3) Jesus rocked the establishment saying that the society should never trump the reason for society and that is the commandment. Jesus was also a hero since he was responsible for great causes and noble works. In Jesus s time Judaism and Jewish society was based around the concept of hierarchy, some people on top but most are on the bottom. Jesus helped perpetuate egalitarian philosophy with a simple sentence Do to others as you would have them do to you (New Revised Standard Version, Luke 6.31). This was and still is a great cause to champion for, equality and fairness. Though the text described the concept of rulers as aggressive, cold and calculative with the likes of Napoleon, Caesar and Hitler but even though Jesus was none of those things he was still a ruler.
