Discrimination And Sexism In The Movie Hidden Figures
The movie Hidden figures is based on a true story of three opinionated Negro women and their
onerous journey towards success. Together they did everything in their power to fight against
discrimination and prove that women are just as capable as men. The trio played an essential role in
the launch of the astronaut John glenn into space, as well as orchestrating his return and landing. The
movie showcases what can be done in the face of adversity, and what can happen the walls of
discrimination and sexism are knocked down. The protagonist, Katherine, is first introduced to us as a
child who is exceedingly smart for her age and is solving problems that even adults would never
dream of attempting. Much to her teachers delightment, the screens show Katharine hard at work,
chalk in hand, scribbling away on the blackboard. It is mentioned early on in the movie that Katherine
can calculate any numbers you put in front of her; there isn t a problem out there she is incapable of
solving. She takes pride in informing people, when they underestimate her, that she was the first
Negro female student at West Virginia university graduate school. Katherine constantly displays
diligence with everything she does and dedicates all her efforts and most of her time towards her job.
To me, It is not at all surprising that her outstanding talent for calculating complex math problems and
her perspicacious mind landed her a high ranked job at NASA and led to her making history. As we
have seen,

The Anti-Romani Regime
Despite the past forced assimilation processes, the majority of the Roma remained illiterate, as well as
often excluded from various employment opportunities and dependent on petty theft or begging up to
World War II.
These conditions worsened in the Protectorate. Being an ethnic minority and, by national socialist
standards, classed as racially inferior, the Romani people were a clear target and part of the Third
Reich s goal to purge Europe of all impure races .
Hence, anti Romani propaganda and measures, which would finally turn into a genocide, started soon
after the establishment of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and continued throughout the war.
On November 11th 1940, when approximately 6 540 Czech Roma were living in the Protectorate,

Shakespeare Authorship
For this project, I believe that I am an anti stratfordian. There is no possible way that Shakespeare
could have written all of his works in such minimal time. Going into this project, I expect to form a
more educated and informed opinion on this matter. I would like to acknowledge both sides of the
argument and pick a side. Before I started researching for this project, I had no idea where to start.
Frankly, I didn t even realize how controversial the Shakespeare s authorship question really was. I
wasn t sure which websites were true or which ones simply wanted you to believe their side, no matter
what false information they presented to you. However, by the end of my research, I am hoping to find
four reliable and informative websites ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first I didn t think it was possible for him to write all of those plays. After I did my research, I
learned that playwrights would put other playwrights names on their plays so they would sell. This
allowed me to see that it wasn t Shakespeare s fault that he was claiming these many plays. They also
would put his name on it to pay tribute to him. I learned that Shakespeare did indeed, have a
respectable education, despite what anti stratfordians say. The education that Shakespeare received
from his grammar school was a big help, but it was his immense amount of reading that mainly
contributed to the writing of the plays. Shakespeare really understood everything about how plays
worked, whether it be picking the right actors or making small cramped stages work. Even though he
was a commoner who wrote about nobles and royalty, he was exposed to them in such a way that he
was able to create entire plays based on the upper class lifestyle. But the opposing side thinks Edward
de Vere was the true Bard. But since he died in 1604, and Shakespeare s big plays were produced after
Vere s death, it leads me to believe de Vere is not the true Bard. Lots of famous and respectable people
would disagree with me and claim that Shakespeare isn t the true Bard. However, the majority of
potential evidence points towards Shakespeare being the true Bard. There are too many speculations,
conspiracies, and opinions for it to be

Speech on Twins
Speech on Twins In the United States there are thousands of babies born every day but how many of
them are twins? Twins today are more common than they once were. There is actually a 3 percent
chance that if you are pregnant right now you could be having twins. Twins are something miraculous
and special. I have had the pleasure of meeting seven different sets of twins in my life time thus far.
Only one set is older than I am while the rest range from juniors in high school to just starting pre
school. Today, I am going to talk to you about three things. First I am going to discuss the bond that
most sets of twins share. Secondly I will address individuality and its importance among twins. Last I

Emotional Intelligence. I View Emotional Intelligence As
Emotional Intelligence I view Emotional intelligence as being able to keep my emotions in check,
making sure they are appropriate, and that I am handling situations in the best emotional manner
possible. Our emotional intelligence or lack there of, can significantly impact our future work
relationships, and personal relationships. How we emotionally interpret information we are given and
then process it for each situation we face is totally up to us. I encountered a situation last semester that
I feel I used Emotional intelligence to guide me in a positive direction, towards furthering my

Five years from now no one is going to care that I had to retake a class along the way. I signed up to
retake the class, dropped my class load to part time, and geared up for this semester. At first I wanted
to keep this information of not passing the class to myself. I didn t want to allow others to judge me,
ridicule me, or perhaps discourage me from continuing on with my pursuit of becoming a registered
nurse. Slowly over time I have confided in a small group of people about my small speed bump, in
what I thought would be a smooth road through nursing. I have received overwhelming support,
compassion, and positive feedback from all that I have spoken with about this situation. It finally sunk
in that I m not the only one this has ever happened to, and I shouldn t let it hold me back. Fast forward
to this past January when my classes would start again. When I walked into class I was surprised to
see some familiar faces from my cohort last semester. Suddenly it didn t seem so bad. They too were
upset that they were having to repeat the class, but they also wanted to continue on in their studies just
like I did. Hearing the stories from the other classmates about having to re enroll in this class again
this semester it was evident that there was a lot of self negative talk going on towards themselves, but
also placing blame on others for their setbacks and current situation. I

This research paper is intended for everyone expected to lead, manage and implement change. It
covers every aspect of managing change, including essential principles, managing stakeholders,
dealing with resisters, building effective change teams and more.
Introduction
Significant organizational change occurs, for example, when an organization changes its overall
strategy for success, adds or removes a major section or practice, and/or wants to change the very
nature by which it operates. It also occurs when an organization evolves through various life cycles,
just like people must successfully evolve through life cycles. For organizations to develop, they often
must undergo significant change at various points in their development. That s why the topic of
organizational change and development has become widespread in communications about business,
organizations, leadership and management.
Leaders and managers continually make efforts to accomplish successful and significant change it s
inherent in their jobs. Some are very good at this effort (probably more than we realize), while others
continually struggle and fail. That s often the difference between people who thrive in their roles and
those that get shuttled around from job to job, ultimately settling into a role where they re frustrated
and ineffective.
There are many schools with educational programs about organizations, business, leadership and
management. Unfortunately, there still are not

The Chair Of Reniseneb
On display in The Metropolitan Museum is the Chair of Reniseneb, which was constructed in 1450
B.C. in Egypt during the New Kingdom period. The Chair of Reniseneb is a wooden chair veneered
with ebony, a heavy dark brown timber, and ivory, a hard creamy white substance. The chair is made
up of small pieces of wood that is pieced together almost like a puzzle. Egyptian trees did not grow
big or thick, therefore big panels of wood needed to be imported which was very expensive. Thus the
Egyptian carpenters became really adapt in inlaid work made from small pieces of variously colored
wood or other materials. In Ancient Eygypt, the higher ranked an individual was, the taller was the
chair or furniture he sat on. The Chair of Reniseneb belonged to the scribe Renyseneb, therefor the
chair sits higher on beaded blocks. The legs of the furniture were often carved in the form of animal
legs or the hind parts of some animal such as the lion. Therefore, the foot of the Chair of Reniseneb is
shaped as an animal paw and the legs of the chair are shaped similar to an animals leg. Both the legs
and the feet are veneered with ebony, a heavy dark brown color. The Egyptians enjoyed having
cushions which were often were stuffed with dried leaves or goose down, creating a plush seat.
Therefore, the seat of the chair was restored to have a woven seat ... Show more content on

palaces, and writing on papyrus. The Egyptians were great artists of their time and their furniture

How Technology Can Improve Their Mental Cognition
Franky Nassivera
In a time, where scientists are able to create both usable limbs and organs with the use of a 3d printer;
it comes as no surprise that people would also turn to technology to improve their mental cognition as
well. Companies like Lumosity, CogniFit, and CogMed are constantly advertising for their products
ability to boost a person s intelligence. This however may not be the case. In one of Lumosity s most
recent advertising campaigns, it states that No matter why you want a better brain, lumosity.com can
help. It s like a personal trainer for your brain. Improving your performance with the science of
neuroplasticity, but in a way that just feels like games. Start training with lumosity.com right now, and

drug. This thought is enhanced when before this statement, actors are stating why they would want to
use the product. With quotes like I did it to be quicker. , To stay sharp. , and To remember people s
names. (4) it allows the viewer to associate those results with Lumosity without actually seeing any
evidence. With over 50 million members and over 1.1 billion games played, Lumosity has created an
empire over the brain game industry: growing its user base about 200% year over year from 80,000
members in October 2007. (5) With all of these new users, there should be plenty of information to

Cuckoo s Nest Psychiatry
A more negative portrayal of the institution system is shown in One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest
(1975) directed by Milos Forman. It is considered to demonstrate the changing face of psychiatry. The
film which was based on Ken Kesey s book of the same title, was made during the period which is
known as the Anti Psychiatry Movement during the 60 s and 70 s. The public s consciousness around
the reality of psychiatric institutions and psychiatry itself was developing in a different way. A number
of theorists worked together in order to outline the issues which were still a major part in psychiatry.
(Fleming and Manvell, 1985) In his book Madness and Civilisation: A History of Insanity in the Age
of Reason (1964), Michael Foucault discussed the nature of asylums as a way of institutional control
(Donaldson, 2005). He argued that the running of these institutes were not effective at all and infact
harmful to the patients (Donaldson, 2005). It was pointed out that all the patients were forced to accept
a role given to them set by the institute (Fleming and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, physicians and especially psychiatrists began to call illness (that is, of course mental illness)
anything and everything in which they could detect a sign of malfunctioning, based on no matter what
norm (Fleming and Manvell, 1985). R.D Laing talked about the labeling of illness as a way of social
control in The Politics of Experience and The Birds of Paradise (1967) (Donaldson, 2005). Laing saw
psychiatry as a political profession that is used to repress individuality. (Fleming and Manvell, 1985).
During this time, psychiatry s authority was questioned as it is shown in the 1975 production of One
Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest. In the film we see the free spirited R.P. McMurphy, played by Jack
Nicholson, banished to a psychiatric unit rather than prison for committing statutory

Low Carb Vs. Low Fat Diets
Justin Kinkead Mr. Roberts English 101 015 Research Paper 12/9/15 Low Carb vs. Low Fat Diets
Imagine that you are significantly overweight. One day, you decide that it would benefit your health to
lose weight, so you decide to limit what you eat in order to do so. You discuss this with a friend and,
he or she, being of similar body composition and weight, decides to set the same goal. Over the next
several months, both of you eat considerably less food than you usually would without regarding
nutrient intake. After this time has passed, you find that you have only lost a few pounds of body
weight, while your friend has lost near twenty. You tell yourself that this doesn t make any sense, but
you cannot help but wonder why this happened. Did you eat more? Did you exercise less? Did you eat
the wrong foods? Eventually you give up on trying to find an explanation, so you determine that this
happened solely as a result of genetics. Scenarios similar to this actually happen fairly frequently in
the modern world. Some people may live healthily or lose weight by eating in moderation, while
others develop chronic conditions and become overweight. This phenomenon has been studied by
scientists for decades, but the results of studies have often conflicted with each other. Despite this, it
seems clear that two major nutrient categories have the largest effect on health and weight:
carbohydrates and fats. However, it is still debated which plays a larger role in the matter. This paper

Murder Dbq
What is murder? Murder is killing of another human being under conditions specifically covered in
law as you can see in doc. A. Can it be civilized? Is all murder the same? I think it can be civilized and
not all murder is the same, but it also can be uncivilized. Was the Marshall Murdered that was in lost?
Yes and no because it was voluntary manslaughter because it was done in the heat of the moment, doc.
C when the plane crashed the U.S. Marshal Edwards Mars was injured badly. There was a piece of
shrapnel stuck in him and Jack the doctor decided to remove it so that he might heal up and get back
to normal. But it caused him to get worse because the lack of supplies that were on the Island. Also the
other people that were on the land were getting mad because he was wasting all the medicine on a
dead man. The Marshal was begging to die but Jack wouldn t give up so Sawyer decided to shoot him
in the chest to kill him, but it just made the suffering worse. So Jack went in the tent and strangled him
to end his suffering. The reason why i think that it was civilized is because it was hurting the others
the person as you can see in doc. B it says to manage control is definition of civilized and that s all

Aztec DBQ
Aztec DBQ
The Aztec empire thrived in Mexico from the 13th to the 16th centuries. In the early 16th century,
Spanish Conquistadors overtook the Aztecs as a part of the Age of Exploration. Since then, historians
have struggled to define how history should remember the Aztecs. The Aztecs were a sophisticated
civilization because of their organized government, intricate religious rituals and memorable
traditions.
The Aztecs were sophisticated for their organized government. The Aztec government consisted of
strong rulers. Their prestigious rulers led them through conquests such as how their ruler, Itzcoatl did
in 1427 (doc C). Itzcoatl was a ruler who vastly contributed to the advancement of the Aztecs by
leading them in the claiming of more land. Aztecs had their own capital, Tenochtitlan. They were
cultured and their population grew to 300,000 in 1519 (doc F). The Aztecs were sophisticated because
of their rapid population growth and their strong rulers.
Secondly, the Aztecs were a sophisticated civilization because of their complex religion and religious
rituals. The Aztecs treated warriors as a royal member, leading up to the sacrifice (doc H). This made
them advanced because they organized the sacrifice and elevated warriors status to that of a living ...

The Film Adaptation Of Richard Matheson s I Am Legend
The film adaptation of Richard Matheson s 1954 novel, I am Legend, was released in December of
2007. Starring Will Smith, and directed by Francis Lawrence, the movie utilizes a viral outbreak,
instead of a bacterium (like the book), to spread the disease (Lawrence). Dr. Alice Krippin genetically
engineers the measles virus to act as an anti cancer treatment. She remarks in an interview that out of
the 10,009 clinical trials, there have been 10,009 confirmed cancer free patients. However, the Krippin
virus mutates within the bodies of the patients and begins destroying what makes them human. KV
becomes transmittable through saliva. New York City is put into a quarantine when the number of
infected become too great, and U.S. Army virologist, Robert Neville, is working to find a solution to
prevent further spread. The virus mutates further and is airborne, leading the president to order the
destruction of the bridges leading off Manhattan and quarantine all the infected on the island.
Revealed through flashbacks, Robert Neville s family dies because of this order. In an attempt to save
his wife and child, he has them evacuated from the Southport dock, but as the helicopter is taking off,

Competitive pressures associated with the jockeying among rival sellers
For global game industry, every company competes violently.
According our case, there are several rivals in this industry, such as Electronic Art, Activision Inc,

which produce game playing device, like Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, also create their own game with

My First Day At School
Fahima woke up before her alarm went off. Today was a big day. It was her first day as a second
grader at her new school, East Pennsboro Elementary. She got out of bed, brushed her teeth, got
dressed, and put on her headscarf.
When she got downstairs, she saw that her dad was making her favorite breakfast, pancakes. She sat
down at the table, and her dad gave her a big good morning hug.
Are you excited for your first day at school, Fahima? he asked with a smile.
Fahima nodded. Although she was excited, she was also very nervous. What if no one included her?
What if they thought she was weird?
She finished her breakfast and realized she was nearly late. Fahima said her goodbyes, and walked
down through her new neighborhood to the bus stop. Just as she got there, the bus arrived.
Thank goodness I m not late, she thought, that would be a bad first day.
Once Fahima got on the bus, she didn t know where to sit. She plopped her stuff down on a seat in the
back and sat down. Everyone else was talking and laughing, but Fahima sat alone.
After what seemed like forever, the bus screeched to a stop outside of her new elementary school.
According to her schedule, she was in room 202 with a teacher named Mr. Greene. She got off the bus
and followed the horde of students into the school. Once Fahima got to her classroom, she saw her
teacher, a kind looking man wearing a bright pink tie.

Kapasi lacks affection towards Mr. Kapasi. She never asked him about the patients who came to the
doctor s office, or said that his job was a big responsibility (53). In contrast, Mr. Kapasi shows Mrs.
Kapasi affection. After his son died of typhoid he tried to console Mrs. Kapasi, and all the kids he
eventually had. And the countless other ways he tried to console his wife and keep her from crying in
her sleep (53). In this passage, Mr. Kapasi feels that he is deserving of affection but his wife is not
giving him what he deserves. This leads Mr. Kapasi to thinking that Mrs. Das s affection is special to
him and he enjoys it. And when Mr. Kapasi sees the affection Mrs. Das shows towards him, he is
moved by it. When Mr. Kapasi thought once again about how she had said romantic , the feeling of
intoxication grew (53). This affection felt contemporary to Mr. Kapasi, with the lack of affection he
receives from his wife.
By fantasizing about Mrs. Das, Mr. Kapasi tries to disregard the problems he has with his own wife.
Continually Mr. Kapasi tries to deduce that Mrs. Das is right for him. Unlike his wife, she had

Eliza Faris O Flaherty
Fortunately for Kate, she had many female mentors throughout her childhood; the strong and
independent widows in her family and the nuns at her school taught her to live a life of the mind as
well as the life of the home. Her father, Thomas O Flaherty, was an Irish immigrant was a very

including her father. After just two months into her term at Sacred Heart, Kate came home and from
there on out was homeschooled by her great grandmother. Eliza Faris O Flaherty, Kate s mother, was a

Examples Of Tim Johnson In To Kill A Mockingbird
In To Kill a Mockingbird there are many themes that Tim Johnson represents. The main theme would
be racism, but there are other themes such as problems Atticus has to face, those who resent racism in
Maycomb, and the lingering sensation of the people of Maycomb not wanting to do certain things. On
top of this, Tim Johnson is a representation of the suffering the African Americans in Maycomb.
Finally,
To Kill a Mockingbird is a fictional book that can still be applied in today s society. For example, the
story talks about Atticus Finch, a lawyer from Maycomb, Alabama, who takes on a court case in
which an innocent African American is accused of rape. The story also talks about the struggles of
Finch s children, Scout and Jem, as they live their lives being bullied for their father s actions. With
that being said, To Kill a Mockingbird also consists of many themes that make the story applicable to
the current world. An example of a theme in the story would be Tim Johnson, a sick dog that Atticus
had to put down. Finally, the dying dog shows many characteristics that the people of Maycomb also
show. The main and most hinted at theme that Tim Johnson represents would be racism. Tim Johnson
is an old sickly dog, that needs to be put out of its misery, just as Maycomb is when dealing with
racism. This is supported by the quote Maycomb was an old town, but it was a tired old town when I
first knew it. (6). Maycomb is old and tired town in the sense that it is old

Some issues addressed by the Beats were spiritual and sexual liberation, legalizing certain drugs,
environmental awareness, opposition to harmful industrialization, and the promotion of peace. Among
the Beats hoping to encourage change through their work were authors Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg,
William Burroughs, Neal Cassady, and Gregory Corso. Writers, such as the above stated, moved away
from the standard structured style of writing and went toward spontaneous and unadulterated prose.
This style of writing allowed the true, underlying thoughts to come out instead of the supposed to s
and the I shouldn t have s . Through their works as well as the works of others, a transition came into
effect for American society...from war and unrest to peace and freedom to do whatever floats your
boat. In his novel, On the Road, Jack Kerouac speaks of his own experiences as a writer on the road
during the Beat Generation. He basically gives the reader the true essence of the Beat life...on the
road, going any way the wind blows. For example, he writes: Filled with dreams of what I d do in
Chicago, in Denver, and then finally in San Fran... I started hitching up the thing. Five scattered rides
took me to the desired Bear Mountain Bridge, where Route 6 arched in from New England. Basically,
this shows the freedom and fearlessness in the attitude of a Beat writer. In general, the Beat attitude
had a huge impact on American society. Their free spirited demeanor sparked

Data Processing And Processing Of Data
We will be talking about processing of data. So, depending on how the data are processed and the
inference is made, most signal processing methods fall into one of the two categories: Batch
processing and Adaptive processing.
The example that we will be taking in the field of wireless communications, will deal with Batch
processing method. In this method, emtire data block is recieved and gathered before it is to be
processed; and any inference about the transmitted data X is made only on the basis of the entire block
of data To understand the process of batch signal processing in a better way, we will take an example
in detail later.
MULTIPLE ACCESS TECHNIQUES
These techniques allow a large number of users to access information through the same channel in
wireless communication systems, also regarded as air interface as mentioned previously. Thus, also

category:

For, FDMA, an allocated bandwidth over the channel is divided among the users connected over that
channel. In, TDMA, each of the users take turns to transmito r reciveve data over the same frequency.
While in CDMA, each user has a specific code according to which the original information is
modified so that it appears as noise to the other users connected over the same channel and hence

The world is full of wonderful and amazing natural scenery, many of them located in the United

The Collapse of Democratic Choice
With over 1 million businesses operating in Canada, corporate responsibility is a major issue that
should be recognized by citizens within society. In simple terms, corporate responsibility is the ethics

power. Regulation is essential in order for good government. Corporate responsibility occurs when
initiatives taken by these corporations benefit all the stakeholders. These stakeholders vary from the

However, what about the majority and common good of the people, like jobs? Murray Dobbin is one
of Canada s most popular progressive political commentators and analysts who explained that,
They influence politicians and political parties with huge amounts of cash; they threaten government
that dare to consider any laws that lessen their power or privilege; they withdraw capital to punish
governments that don t take them seriously; they spend millions on lobbyist to persuade legislators
(Dobbin).
Officials are not required to keep formal records of their contracts with lobbyists, and there is some
scope for lobbyists to avoid registration by claiming that they are merely responding to requests for
information from officials. The government has set up regulations relating to lobbying, but these
regulations are not restricting lobbying, it is making it even more legal. Teeple outlined that,
The process of registering lobbyists began under the Mulroney government in 1989. The Lobbyists
Registration Act essentially puts the onus on lobbyists to register, pay a fee, and list their areas of
interest. By its very principles, the Act legitimizes the role of the lobbying industry (Teeple).
It has to be emphasized that registration is not regulation . Allowing lobbyist to enter parliament
legitimately eats away at Canada s democracy even more. It is a form of corruption, because really it

Chattel Slaves In Ancient Egypt
Chattel slaves were mostly captives of war. All captives, including civilians not a part of the military
forces, become a royal resource. The pharaoh would then resettle the captives by moving them into
colonies for labour, giving them to temples, giving them as rewards to deserving individuals, and
giving them to his soldiers as booty. Some chattel slaves began as free people who were found guilty
of committing illicit acts and were forced to give up their freedom. Other chattel slaves were born into
the life from a slave mother.

As indentured slaves they did not lose all their civil rights; and sometimes the economic security
gained through their new status might seem to be worth giving up some freedoms for. A remnant of
these customs is seen in the demotic contracts concerning security, where grasping the hand refers to
the narrator s hand being held by the creditor showing the money ower giving the creditor power over
the slave. Debt slavery was bashed in the Late Dynastic Period. It has been said that the vizier was

virtual slavery.

Intercity no. 11 barge on the side at about a 45 degree angle. The collision caused the steel hulls of the
two vessels to rub against each other and create sparks and heat from the friction. These sparks and
heat could have potentially been the ignition source of the fire. The crude oil had an estimated
flashpoint of 80 degrees Fahrenheit meaning the oil was a grade C flam¬mable liquid. Fire and
explosions started in the first few minutes on Intercity no. 11. The Midwest Cities immediately went
full astern to get away from the fire and Intercity no. 14 drifted away. The Intercity no. 11 grounded
and sank. The vapors from the escaped crude oil were blown over the African Star s bow and ignited.
The flames spread throughout the ship. The fire was in hold 2, 4, and 5. The paint was burning and the
supplies and cargo on deck was also on fire. The smoke was very thick and it filled a large portion of
the ship, including the engine space and living quarters. The pilot decided the best option was to run
the vessel aground to aid in the firefighting and rescue operations. There was burning oil around the
vessel in the water. Some people tried to jump overboard but they would land in the fires. Many
people tried to escape out the port holes due to the fact that they were trapped in their room. Many
people s life jackets and clothing caught on fire and they burned. Ropes on the life boats had burned,

The Vietnam war had far reaching effects on the United States, other than the vast amount of
casualties suffered, which was a total of 211,454 casualties throughout the war. Firstly, Congress
replaced its military draft with an all volunteer force as well as reducing the voting age to 18.
Congress was also inspired to restrict the president s ability to send American forces into combat
without their explicit approval with the War Powers Act. President Johnson was unwilling to raise the
taxes during the war, which resulted in a cycle of inflation and a devastated economy in his wake. U.S.
military morale was weakened by the war and the U.S. commitment to internationalism was severely

Informational Constraints
1. Chapter eight describes three broader goals of one s audience in addition to those discussed earlier
in the textbook. One of these is security. Another is professional growth. As the textbook notes, people
want to develop and grow on the job...they want to learn more skills and assume new duties...and they
want to work for an organization that is developing and growing (Markel, 2012). 2. Constraints within
technical writing are things such as the amount of information that can be gathered for a paper, the
required length and format, the due date, etc. (Markel, 2012), that impact the writing process. These
often help a writer compose a document however they also can be a hindrance as well. An example of

A commonsense argument is one that appeals to a person s understanding and experience of how the
world works. The textbook notes, if your audience s commonsense arguments match yours, your
argument is likely to be persuasive. Often, people can act in mysterious ways, and this is an effective
way to present an argument. Like the University of Maryland s University College notes on their
website, Clear thinking requires that you state your claim and support it with concrete, specific facts.
This approach appeals to our common sense... ( Writing Arguments, 2011). 7. One type of argument is
one that argues against the writer themselves, instead of against the writer s argument. This is known
as a ad hominem argument, or an argument against the speaker (Markel, 2012) according to the
textbook. Ad hominem arguments are useful in convincing someone to do something or of a side of
something because of a characteristic they possess. These arguments are logical fallacies that are
colloquially known as mistakes in reasoning ( What is..., n.d.) that are often not mistakes that can help
writers and speakers win persuasive

  • 2. Discrimination And Sexism In The Movie Hidden Figures The movie Hidden figures is based on a true story of three opinionated Negro women and their onerous journey towards success. Together they did everything in their power to fight against discrimination and prove that women are just as capable as men. The trio played an essential role in the launch of the astronaut John glenn into space, as well as orchestrating his return and landing. The movie showcases what can be done in the face of adversity, and what can happen the walls of discrimination and sexism are knocked down. The protagonist, Katherine, is first introduced to us as a child who is exceedingly smart for her age and is solving problems that even adults would never dream of attempting. Much to her teachers delightment, the screens show Katharine hard at work, chalk in hand, scribbling away on the blackboard. It is mentioned early on in the movie that Katherine can calculate any numbers you put in front of her; there isn t a problem out there she is incapable of solving. She takes pride in informing people, when they underestimate her, that she was the first Negro female student at West Virginia university graduate school. Katherine constantly displays diligence with everything she does and dedicates all her efforts and most of her time towards her job. To me, It is not at all surprising that her outstanding talent for calculating complex math problems and her perspicacious mind landed her a high ranked job at NASA and led to her making history. • 3. The Anti-Romani Regime Despite the past forced assimilation processes, the majority of the Roma remained illiterate, as well as often excluded from various employment opportunities and dependent on petty theft or begging up to World War II. These conditions worsened in the Protectorate. Being an ethnic minority and, by national socialist standards, classed as racially inferior, the Romani people were a clear target and part of the Third Reich s goal to purge Europe of all impure races . Hence, anti Romani propaganda and measures, which would finally turn into a genocide, started soon after the establishment of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and continued throughout the war. On November 11th 1940, when approximately 6 540 Czech Roma were living in the Protectorate, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Shakespeare Authorship For this project, I believe that I am an anti stratfordian. There is no possible way that Shakespeare could have written all of his works in such minimal time. Going into this project, I expect to form a more educated and informed opinion on this matter. I would like to acknowledge both sides of the argument and pick a side. Before I started researching for this project, I had no idea where to start. Frankly, I didn t even realize how controversial the Shakespeare s authorship question really was. I wasn t sure which websites were true or which ones simply wanted you to believe their side, no matter what false information they presented to you. However, by the end of my research, I am hoping to find four reliable and informative websites ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At first I didn t think it was possible for him to write all of those plays. After I did my research, I learned that playwrights would put other playwrights names on their plays so they would sell. This allowed me to see that it wasn t Shakespeare s fault that he was claiming these many plays. They also would put his name on it to pay tribute to him. I learned that Shakespeare did indeed, have a respectable education, despite what anti stratfordians say. The education that Shakespeare received from his grammar school was a big help, but it was his immense amount of reading that mainly contributed to the writing of the plays. Shakespeare really understood everything about how plays worked, whether it be picking the right actors or making small cramped stages work. Even though he was a commoner who wrote about nobles and royalty, he was exposed to them in such a way that he was able to create entire plays based on the upper class lifestyle. But the opposing side thinks Edward de Vere was the true Bard. But since he died in 1604, and Shakespeare s big plays were produced after Vere s death, it leads me to believe de Vere is not the true Bard. Lots of famous and respectable people would disagree with me and claim that Shakespeare isn t the true Bard. However, the majority of potential evidence points towards Shakespeare being the true Bard. There are too many speculations, conspiracies, and opinions for it to be ... There is actually a 3 percent chance that if you are pregnant right now you could be having twins. Twins are something miraculous and special. Five years from now no one is going to care that I had to retake a class along the way. I signed up to retake the class, dropped my class load to part time, and geared up for this semester. At first I wanted to keep this information of not passing the class to myself. I didn t want to allow others to judge me, ridicule me, or perhaps discourage me from continuing on with my pursuit of becoming a registered nurse. Slowly over time I have confided in a small group of people about my small speed bump, in what I thought would be a smooth road through nursing. I have received overwhelming support, compassion, and positive feedback from all that I have spoken with about this situation. It finally sunk in that I m not the only one this has ever happened to, and I shouldn t let it hold me back. Fast forward to this past January when my classes would start again. When I walked into class I was surprised to see some familiar faces from my cohort last semester. Suddenly it didn t seem so bad. They too were upset that they were having to repeat the class, but they also wanted to continue on in their studies just like I did. This research paper is intended for everyone expected to lead, manage and implement change. Introduction Significant organizational change occurs, for example, when an organization changes its overall strategy for success, adds or removes a major section or practice, and/or wants to change the very nature by which it operates. It also occurs when an organization evolves through various life cycles, just like people must successfully evolve through life cycles. For organizations to develop, they often must undergo significant change at various points in their development. That s why the topic of organizational change and development has become widespread in communications about business, organizations, leadership and management. Leaders and managers continually make efforts to accomplish successful and significant change it s inherent in their jobs. Some are very good at this effort (probably more than we realize), while others continually struggle and fail. That s often the difference between people who thrive in their roles and those that get shuttled around from job to job, ultimately settling into a role where they re frustrated and ineffective. There are many schools with educational programs about organizations, business, leadership and management. Unfortunately, there still are not

The Chair of Reniseneb is a wooden chair veneered with ebony, a heavy dark brown timber, and ivory, a hard creamy white substance. • 13. Cuckoo s Nest Psychiatry A more negative portrayal of the institution system is shown in One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest (1975) directed by Milos Forman. It is considered to demonstrate the changing face of psychiatry. The film which was based on Ken Kesey s book of the same title, was made during the period which is known as the Anti Psychiatry Movement during the 60 s and 70 s. The public s consciousness around the reality of psychiatric institutions and psychiatry itself was developing in a different way. A number of theorists worked together in order to outline the issues which were still a major part in psychiatry. (Fleming and Manvell, 1985) In his book Madness and Civilisation: A History of Insanity in the Age of Reason (1964), Michael Foucault discussed the nature of asylums as a way of institutional control (Donaldson, 2005). • 14. Low Carb Vs. Low Fat Diets Justin Kinkead Mr. Roberts English 101 015 Research Paper 12/9/15 Low Carb vs. Low Fat Diets Imagine that you are significantly overweight. One day, you decide that it would benefit your health to lose weight, so you decide to limit what you eat in order to do so. You discuss this with a friend and, he or she, being of similar body composition and weight, decides to set the same goal. Over the next several months, both of you eat considerably less food than you usually would without regarding nutrient intake. After this time has passed, you find that you have only lost a few pounds of body weight, while your friend has lost near twenty. You tell yourself that this doesn t make any sense, but you cannot help but wonder why this happened. Did you eat more? Did you exercise less? Did you eat the wrong foods? Eventually you give up on trying to find an explanation, so you determine that this happened solely as a result of genetics. Scenarios similar to this actually happen fairly frequently in the modern world. Some people may live healthily or lose weight by eating in moderation, while others develop chronic conditions and become overweight. This phenomenon has been studied by scientists for decades, but the results of studies have often conflicted with each other. Despite this, it seems clear that two major nutrient categories have the largest effect on health and weight: carbohydrates and fats. However, it is still debated which plays a larger role in the matter. This paper ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the early 16th century, Spanish Conquistadors overtook the Aztecs as a part of the Age of Exploration. Since then, historians have struggled to define how history should remember the Aztecs. The Aztecs were a sophisticated civilization because of their organized government, intricate religious rituals and memorable traditions. The Aztecs were sophisticated for their organized government. The Aztec government consisted of strong rulers. Their prestigious rulers led them through conquests such as how their ruler, Itzcoatl did in 1427 (doc C). • 25. Examples Of Tim Johnson In To Kill A Mockingbird In To Kill a Mockingbird there are many themes that Tim Johnson represents. The main theme would be racism, but there are other themes such as problems Atticus has to face, those who resent racism in Maycomb, and the lingering sensation of the people of Maycomb not wanting to do certain things. On top of this, Tim Johnson is a representation of the suffering the African Americans in Maycomb. Finally, To Kill a Mockingbird is a fictional book that can still be applied in today s society.
