How Is The Australian Legend Poem
In the opinion of historian and author of The Australian Legend Russel Ward, his representation of the
typical Australian is a practical, rough man who gives things a go. Other perceived ideas stated in his
text are; masculinity and mateship, egalitarianism, larrikinism, anti intellectualism and stoicism.
Published in 1958, these ideologies symbolize the typical man in the days in was written, whereas
nowadays it can be perceived differently with modern, multicultural Australians. Though most of the
ideas are still accurate to todays people, it was only focused on the men, and not the women or general
society including the indigenous. I have chosen to analyse two classic Australian bush poems by two
well known competitors. The first one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

According to Dawson s aesthetic illustration, the life of a bushman is a tough and difficult scene,

Australian, this poem closely relates to the Stoicism and the Aussie battler , relating to the Bushmens

Nitrogen Cycle Lab
For the Nitrogen Cycle Lab, I, along with four other classmates, designed and created a self sustaining
nitrogen cycle. One factor that helped us create a successful self sustaining nitrogen cycle was we
elevated each tank by placing foam blocks under them. This increased the speed of the water flow.
Another good factor we included was we used tape to help loop the tubes to connect two tanks
together. The tape also prevented any tubes from shooting water upwards and out of the tank.
Although our water flow was successful in the end, we had multiple errors before we achieved a self
sustaining nitrogen cycle. One major issue that we came across was our holes were bigger than our
tubes. This created several different leaks which caused the water

Voter Id And The United States
Voter ID Discrimination The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or
abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of
servitude. The Fifteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution and one of the most important
when it comes to voting in the United States of America. This Amendment was ratified on February 3,
1870 after the civil war and was met by a flurry of great full voters and scornful American citizens.
Racism has been a problem in America since its founding and, despite common misconception, is still
a serious issue today. With the 2016 elections just around the corner it s important we has American
recognize the issue of voter ID discrimination and how it is not only going directly against the
constitution but also unethical and immoral in our modern American society.
While the main purpose for voter ID is to eliminate fraud and corruption in the American voting
system, it has brought with it consequences that discourage and even prohibit eligible voters to vote.
The 2012 election, a vast number of state required a government issued photo ID. Even the state
Indiana required this even though state GOP officials couldn t provide a single instance of a voter
committing the type of fraud the new ID law was supposed to stop (Berman). Surprisingly, in
Wisconsin, they will only except ID s containing a current address, birth date, signature and two year
expiration date that so far

Descriptive Use Of Imagery In Macbeth By William Shakespeare
Stories have an incredible ability to make readers see without using their eyes. Words that are
carefully placed together can create strong moments and feeling that the reader can easily visualize. A
writer and author who had best mastered this skill was William Shakespeare. Even though
Shakespeare wrote plays that were eventually performed live, he was still able to use imagery to
describe scenes that did not take place on stage. Because Shakespeare successfully understood human
nature, his imagery made the plays he wrote more emotional and complex. Imagery can be described
in several different ways. Visual imagery is one that most readers are familiar with. This is when the
writer uses descriptive words to create an image in the reader s minds. For example, saying the girls
golden hair glittered in the sunlight or the stars speckled the dark sky like precious jewels would
create a distinct picture. Another type of imagery is olfactory imagery. This is when descriptive words
are used to create a smell. This can become a powerful tool since humans are able to remember smells
longer than any other sense they posses. Auditory imagery is when a reader can hear sounds when
reading certain text. Examples of this can be the crack of a rusty cannon firing ... Show more content

The most powerful example of this in the play is in the second act. The scenes in the second act are
shrouded darkness. The darkness foreshadows King Duncan s death and the evil that is brewing within
Macbeth. In scene four of the play, the character Ross describes the darkness after Duncan s death. He
says By th clock tis day, and yet darkness strangles the traveling lamp. Is t night s predominance, or
the day s shame, that darkness does the face of the earth entomb, when living light should kiss it (2.4.6

the events that continue to transpire after Duncan s

Introduction
On 25 June 1950, North Korea forces launched a surprise invasion on South Korea under the
command of Kim Il sung and the North Korean People s Army. During this time, the North Korean
People s Army forced through the 38th parallel and pushed through the unprepared Republic of Korea
forces to the Southeast Pusan peninsula. The approximately 125 mile defensive perimeter was where
United Nation forces withdrew to by August, 1950 and held that Southeast position of the peninsula.
While UN forces were outnumbered, commanders were in search for a new course of action that
would help skew the war in favor of them. It was then General of the Army Douglas MacArthur first
envisioned his plan for what would become the Battle of Inchon. Inchon is located in the
Northwestern corner of modern South Korea and was a key location for the North Korean forces.
Inchon, located just 25 miles west of the nation s capital, Seoul, was a key location for North Korean
resupplies . Friendly intelligence and air reconnaissance observed that there were two major supply
lines that were along the two major highways coming from both the northeast and northwest. It was
through these two major supply lines that North Korean forces were able to then disseminate supplies
throughout the South Korean peninsula and ultimately down to the Pusan area in the southeast corner.
Because Inchon

ease. She is also the belle of the ball, bringing the attention of every young man. Jane is trustworthy
and serves as Elizabeth s confidant and mentor. Her unfailing positivity is part of what makes her so
beloved by everyone, however, it can hinder her ability to make decisions for herself. Her relationship
with Caroline Bingley is one such case. Caroline is an attractive young woman, known for her vain
and conceited personality. Elizabeth can clearly see her faults, while Jane is committed to seeing the
good in her. This leads to what Jane sees as a close friendship, when in reality Caroline is insincere in
her actions. Jane eventually comes

Validity and Reliability
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Research process involves several steps and each step depends on the preceding steps. If step is
missing or inaccurate, then the succeeding steps will fail. When developing research plan, always be
aware that this principles critically affects the progress. One of critical aspects of evaluation and
appraisal of reported research is to consider the quality of the research instrument. According to
Parahoo (2006), in quantitative studies reliability and validity are two of the most important concept
used by researcher to evaluate the quality of the study that is carried out. Reliability and validity in
research refer specifically to the measurement of data as they will be used to answer the research

Assessment of stability involves method of test retest method reliability and using of alternate forms
reliability.
3.2.1 Test retest method
This is the classical test of stability called test retest method. This method allows researchers to
administer the same measure to a sample twice and then compare the scores (Polit amp; Beck, 2012).
According to Wood amp; Rose Kerr (2006), test retest method is repeated measurements over time
using the same instrument on the same subject to produce the same result. For example, a test is
developed to measure knowledge of mathematics. The test is given to a group of students and repeated
two weeks later. Their score in both tests must be similar if the test measure reliably. A reliable
questionnaire will give consistent result over time. If the results are not consistent, the test is not
considered reliable and will need to be revised until it does measure consistently.
Based on the above example, the result from the first testing can be correlated with the result of the
second testing and resulted with high correlation. The comparison is performed objectively by
computing a reliability coefficient, which is an index of the magnitude of the test s reliability.
Reliability coefficient usually ranges between 0.00 and 1.00. The higher the coefficient, the more
stable the measure. Reliability coefficients above 0.80 usually are considered good as stated by Polit
and Beck (2012). For unstable variables, the

How Being A Single Mom Influenced My Life
Influenced Heart
For as long as I can remember my was always there for me. Deep down I honestly feel like she
molded me for my future. She made me who I am today by teaching me responsibility, finances and
life struggles. She never bothered to hide the cruelty of the real world.
First of all, if I look back I can always remember my mother teaching me responsibility. As early as
six years young my mom would sit down with me every night when she got home and go over my
homework to make sure it was done. I also remember her telling me constantly to take responsibility
for my actions. For example, when I was in highschool I brought cough tablets to school. My friend
was carrying my book bag when they searched her and found them. When I heard about it I stepped
forward and took responsibility for them and I ended up not getting in trouble because of my honesty.
From that moment forward I knew my mother had really raised me amazingly. Giving me the tools I
needed to be successful in life.
In addition to her teaching me respect she also expressed finances to me. My mother always would a
way o tell me about finances. Being a single mom it was hard raising three girls on her own. She
shopped smart and found ways to let us be involved. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of Robert Frost And The Tuft Of Flowers
There once lived a fellow named Robert Frost, who was one of the greatest poets of the 20th century.
In the year 1874, Robert s life began in San Francisco. He lived there for eleven years with his family
until his father died. When that happened, Robert, his mother, and little sister all moved to
Massachusetts. There, Robert went to high school and graduated top of his class. He went on to
complete only one term at Dartmouth College, and after that, two years at Harvard University. After
leaving college, Robert worked as a farmer and later as a factory worker for a short time. Next, he
taught English at Pinkerton Academy for four years. Mr. Frost s wrote many poems, one of which is
called The Tuft of Flowers, is one of Frost s earlier works. Accordingly, the focus this essay will be
analyzing that poem and comparing it with another Robert Frost wrote. There are two parts of this
essay, analyzing the first poem using four elements of poetry: theme, imagery, sound, and symbol, and
the second part is a comparison of the first another written by Frost, Acquainted with the Night.
In the beginning of The Tuft of Flowers, a newly mown field can be seen. The flowers and tall grasses,
which had been a haven and a joy for insects, animals, and people, were unceremoniously assaulted by
the blade of the workman. The author of the poem is observing the scene, alone; his loneliness is
evident. However, this hopelessness is as he was before he noticed the tuft of flowers. He viewed all

Why Christopher Ellis article is Informative The primary purpose of Christopher Ellis article is to
inform his particular audience of a study he was conducted. The author achieved his purpose of
explaining his study in a through way; subsequently he was able to show that lower income citizens

which is sometimes easier to understand. The graphs that the author uses are prevalent in the field of
political science, however they are not always helpful to non intellectuals because they are data

phrases. A downside of this article is that it is formatted with text in columns, which decreases

Social Support-Giving Communication
A communication approach to the study of social support views it as an interactive process involving
support seeking behavior, the giving of support, and a response to support by the receiver (Barbee,
1990; Burleson et al., 1994; House, 1981). Support giving communication includes any behaviors with
altruistic intent directed toward another individual (Dunkel Schetter, Blasband, Feinstein, Herbert,
1992, p. 90), such as providing advice or comfort. Those who receive effective social support may
experience benefits such as feelings of well being, a sense of being accepted and understood, and an
improved ability to control and cope with stressful events (Burleson, 1994).
Many types of social support have been examined in the literature.

Strategies And Methods For Designing A Meeting Essay
Meeting Strategies This paper will discuss strategies and methods for designing a meeting. For
purposes of this discussion, it is time for the quarterly board of directors meeting. Unfortunately, the
meeting will be discussing low profits, pending lawsuits and high employee turnover. To add to the
difficulty of delivering bad news, the board of directors are dispersed across the country that will
require time zone and location coordination. Barrett (2011) discusses meeting strategies and design.
She suggests the following ideas, which are define the meeting purpose, consider the audience, set an
agenda, consider the meeting setting (location, seating arrangements, etc.), the meeting time, ascertain
needed information, and establish tangible end product(s).
Meeting Purpose
As Barrett (2011) suggests, one of the most important first steps is to define the meeting purpose. The
meeting organizer must evaluate whether the meeting is held to inform, persuade, instruct, or engage.
In this scenario, the meetings purpose is a hybrid of informing the board and engaging them in
solutions and directions.
Consider the audience Next, Barrett (2011) suggests consideration of the audience. For this meeting,
the board of directors, who are the decision makers, is the audience. Included along with the board of
directors, key personnel such as the budget officer and legal team ought to be included. The meeting
setting and time in this scenario will vary due to the board of

The Importance Of Learning Experience
The nursing profession encourages lifelong update learning (NMC, 2010), and student nurses, as adult
learners and aspiring professionals, need to start developing themselves within the culture of lifelong
learning in the workplace and take responsibility for their learning (Hinchliff, 2004). This is possible
with effective communication in sharing appropriate experience, skills, and knowledge to facilitate
best practice and enhance learning opportunities (NMC, 2008).
The purpose of this essay is to analyse a specific episode of learning event that I have been involved in
practice setting which my mentor was the teacher. I will explore teaching style and learning theories
related to this experience. In addition, an action plan will be formulated and presented in appendices
to explore on how the learning event will impact on the registrant and highlight key development
areas to overcome. The learning experience that I will be looking at in this essay is the safe
administration of intramuscular depot injections taught by my mentor. Nursing and Midwifery council
(2009) considered administering intramuscular injection as an essential component of nursing training
for pre registration student nurses. Therefore, confidently learning how to administer this form of
injection is important for promoting safety and the quality of care delivered to the public (NMC,2015).
It is the role of the mentor to facilitate student learning in achieving this essential skill required for
registration (Ness et al, 2010).
Learning is defined by Howard (2009) as any event that brings about a relatively permanent change in
behaviour, resulting from either experience or practice. Knowles (2005, 2011) also sees learning as a
structured, premeditated means of trying ideas which are relevant to problems or challenges.
It is important that teacher established student preferred learning style prior to teaching event in order
to promote effective learning (Pritchad, 2013). West et al (2007) state that learning style preferences
influence how a learner understands and interprets teaching experience. Mentor need to know that
students have diverse types of learning styles as not all students learn in the same way, therefore,

Stokely Carmichael Black Power
What is Black Power? Black power is a movement lead by Stokely Carmichael which promoted the
idea of black empowerment and creating a community where blacks feel comfortable in. It implies
self determination and self motivation. This means blacks should not rely on white authority to fix
racial issues but rather take matters into their own hands. It is a call for blacks to define their own
goals. This was not only meant as freedom from white authority but also as economical and political
independence. In this way Black Power was taking control of the future of blacks in both economical
and political ways and establishing a community in which they will not have to suffer living as second
class citizens. Black power also encouraged blacks to have pride in their racial heritage and be proud
to be black. A way of promoting this was by using the slogan Black is Beautiful , to get people to see
the beauty of being black and not to be ashamed of their prominent black features. Stokely Carmichael
encouraged this form of Black Pride by saying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Era Of New Technology
The 1990s was the era of new technology. This era consists of wars and a variety of inventions coming
into our world, such as The Persian Gulf War, and the Google Search Bar. This decade was a time of
all sorts of records broken and right into the history book, just like when Eilleen Collins was the first

The Persian Gulf War was one of the great wars that helped America to be what is today. This war
helped people achieve freedom and liberty in their lives. Furthermore, the United States paid for the
war and it costs the U.S. millions of dollars in debt (NAGEL, 21). The war was declared on August
20, 1990. This war was declared because of Iraq s invasion in Kuwait on August 20, 1990. Iraq s
leader, Saddam Hussein, ordered the invasion and occupation of Kuwait with the apparent aim of
acquiring that nation s large oil reserves, canceling a large debt Iraq owed Kuwait, and expanding
Iraqi power in the region (EXAMINER.COM). Persian Gulf War took place in Southwestern Asia.
The U.S benefited some things not just for them, but for other countries. People said the U.S achieved
freedom for other countries such as Kuwait, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia. These countries did not possess
freedom. One thing the U.S benefited from this war, was respect. Another thing the U.S. gained during
this war was allies, such as Iran. Also, the U.S. gained respect from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. And as

began at age four or five. During training they learned certain skills with swords, but practiced with
sticks. Later at age 14, both warriors promoted up a rank. Young samurai promoted to a samurai in a

Shargel s Superstitions
Hanna, that s not formal ! Take it off ! Hanna s mother exclaimed, pointing at her red bandana. She
had it since she was born, and ever since she won an animal in a carnival game while wearing this
bandana at the age of four, she had decided that this was her lucky bandana. In April of 2014, she was
auditioning for her first of three auditions for orchestras. She planned on auditioning for California
Youth Symphony, El Camino Youth Symphony, and San Jose Youth Symphony. She disobeyed her
mother and snuck the bandana into her pocket, making sure it was not seen and that it was easily
accessible. She later received three letters in the mail, each saying that Hanna was accepted into their
orchestra. While some may discredit superstitions and rituals, these small acts can provide a sense of

Gerald L. Shargel claims that [He] will walk under ladders. [He] will let black cats pass in front of
[him]. But [he will] not pass up a beggar (Weiser 6). He usually gives each beggar he sees twenty
dollars. This small act not only impacts Shargel, but also the beggar. It makes the beggar happy that
they made some money, and it also makes Shargel happy that he is conducting his superstition.
Shargel uses this superstition because trials are never the same. With all the new people and new
cases, he might need a sense of repetitivity to comfort him or make him feel like there is a least one
constant with his variating life. Richard B. Lind asserts that he is not superstitious, but that he
acknowledges the possible contradiction to his belief by doing simple things like purposely [stepping]
on a crack (Weiser 10). Although he is not superstitious, he believes that dissipating superstitions will
clear his trial of any grip that superstitions have on his mind. By contradicting superstitions, he feels
that the bad energy they contain has no effect on his trials and that the trials will

The Self Essay
The Self Every situation that an individual is exposed to throughout life, helps mold our self. As
humans we have the ability to see ourselves from the outside, and all through life we try to see what
others see and our self revolves around the generalized other. We observe how others perceive us and
we make conclusions depending on our observations. How we act around others depends on the image
we feel they have towards us.
Charles Horton Cooley, a symbolic interactionist, concluded that our sense of self develops from
interactions with others. Cooley described this process as the ... Show more content on

On the other hand if you see yourself as an individual who can communicate without a problem and
you see that you can keep others interested in a given conversations, your reaction is more positive.
Through this looking glass self we develop a self concept. Depending on the observations we make
concerning the reactions of others we develop feelings and ideas about ourselves. The reflection we
see in the mirror is either negative or positive depending on the feedback we get back from those
around us. Misjudgments of the reactions of others become part of our self concept also the
misinterpretations of how others think of us. Self concepts begins in childhood but it continues to
develop throughout life. As we observe how other people react to us, we modify our self.
The self is never a finished project, and it continues to change as our life takes different turns. Our self
reacts to the environment that we are in. As the self expands we put together the different reactions
making us a unique individual. Every individual has a different way of thinking and therefore they
make their own choices about certain situations. Going through different life changes, means the self
is expected to change to accommodate the life stage we find our selves in. The way we perceived

Hot Tubs Research Paper
Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury, Coco Chanel (n.d.) once said. Nothing
describes this quote quite like the soothing hot tub. The steaming water, the bubbling frame, or
perhaps just the sheer cost in installation give the hot tub such a luxurious connotation. In the movies,
bliss is often pictured as some bare chested man, wearing gold chains galore, arms around two
bikinied blondes, that is lounging in a massive hot tub. Even on a less grand scale, it is always quite a
mark of rank for a middle class household to have possession of such a comfort as a Jacuzzi. When
mentioned, one can just feel a warm massage from little jets spurting out water all around your body.
The bubbling water warms one s body and soul with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, I have only experienced the luxury of hot tubs only a few times in my life. Living in Phoenix,
where heat is already the de facto temperature, owning a hot tub is often less than desirable.
Phoenicians do not need a Jacuzzi because we can get wet and toasty just by perspiring when we walk
outside. However, when my family and I travel to another state, there is sometimes a Jacuzzi at the
place we stay. So, while in a more favorable climate than in Arizona, my family always takes
advantage of getting into the spa. Entering a hot tub is always memorable: one foot in hot to the touch;
slide into the pool uncomfortable, at first; but, wait a moment the coziest sensation there could be.
Relaxing in the tub is always a communal opportunity. My father discusses something with my
mother. My older sister adds her two cents to the conversation, and my brother and I comment when
appropriate. It becomes as pleasant a discourse as if we were having supper around the dinner table. It
is always a lovely time. If there is a swimming pool nearby, my dad likes to jump in it after leaving the
Jacuzzi. My mom and my sister do not understand why, but it is a strangely incredible feeling. The
warmth on your body from the hot tub ecstatically contrasts upon impact with the coolness of the
swimming pool as you jump into it. I feel like it is what happens when molten lava, flowing down a
volcano, hits a cold ocean tide. It is quite a strange sensation, but it is rather exhilarating, as well.
Overall, bathing in hot tubs has been a very rare occurrence in my life. However, I can say, upon
recollection, that there is one word that consistently describes all those experiences: family.
Conversing with one another across the bath is easy due a hot tub s round nature. Chilling, per say,
together during a common relaxing bath brings such an interpersonal sense of fellowship. Concluding,

Desperate Housewives reinforces these stereotypes about women in the first seasons. Females are

family. Adjectives such as caring, loving or sympathetic are often used to describe them. On the other
hand, men have to be the breadwinners and they are career focused to provide the appropriate amount

The Parthenon of Athens was the temple of Athena Parthenos, known as the Greek goddess of
wisdom, and was built in the 5th century BC. According to Silverman (n.d.), this Doric peripteral
temple was built on the Acropolis in Athens to replace two earlier temples of Athena that were
destroyed by the Persians. The style of the Parthenon denotes clear Doric design. It has rectangular
base dimensions of 69.5 by 30.9 meters with low steps along each side and a cella length of 29.8
meters and 19.2 meters in width. The Parthenon has internal two tiered Doric colonnades and exterior
columns in peripheral format that measure 1.9 meters in diameter and 10.4 meters in height. Eight
columns are located at the façade with seventeen on the opposing sides. Six columns denote the front
and back portico. The cella of the structure housed the statue of Athena Parthenos dressed in armor
and holding Nike, the goddess of victory to the Athenian people, in her right hand. 23 Doric columns

The Russian Revolution was an extremely difficult time for everyone. The events that occurred lead to
the idea of communism today. A great amount of events occurred during the years leading up to the
revolution. First, Russia had already faced many other wars and the country was struggling because of
lack of communication from their Emperor Tsar Nicholas II. Next, during the revolution, Nicholas II
was pushed out of office and the country started to follow the ideas of Lenin and the Bolsheviks. The

this time of hardship and moved to other countries permanently. Eventually, Lenin and the Bolsheviks

Sugarloaf Mountain Resort Court Cases
On March 21, 2015, Reuters reported that the King Pine lift at Sugarloaf Mountain Ski Resort
malfunctioned. Nine chairs travelled backwards on the cable, injuring seven people; three of whom
required hospitalization for non threatening injuries. Sugarloaf experienced a similar incident on
December 28, 2010. (Cavalier, 2015) Bangor Daily News reported that eight individuals were
hospitalized for injuries as a result of the derailment of the Spillway East chairlift. Rick Tounge, one
of the eight injured, stated, I think we re pretty conscious of the risk we think we re taking (in skiing),
and that involves trees and other skiers and that stuff. You don t expect the chair to try and kill you.
(Portland Press Herald, 2011) Michael Katz filed suit against Sugarloaf Mountain Resort on the
following six causes of action: I. negligence, II. common carrier liability, III. strict product liability,
IV. breach of warranty, V. loss of consortium, VI. punitive damages. The defendants moved for
dismissal of claims II, III, and IV. The Superior Court of Maine granted the motion to dismiss claims
III and IV but denied the motion to dismiss on claim II. (Michael and Patricia Katz et al v. CNL

Ar 15 Arguments
Since I was about 6 years old I have been exposed to shooting firearms, within my family it wasn t
uncommon to have a weekend day set aside to go to the rifle range and shoot our old tin cans from the
meals we prepared that week. My experience with shooting firearms ranges from little, basically
antique, single shot bolt action 22LR all the way up to high powered hunting rifles, Ar 15 s and AR 10
s. The day after I turned 18 I went out and purchased a tactical Mossberg 500 shotgun. Then shortly
after in light of some political discussion about banning AR 15 s I purchased one for my self in hopes
if laws did change that I could be grandfathered into whatever the new law may arise. From there my

The Rise Of Drug Prohibition
Drug prohibition is rarely viewed negatively by many Americans. The failure of drug prohibition has
sparked some debate in the last fifty years, however, the ignorance about illegal substances has led to
little discussion on alternatives to prohibition. Legalizing all drugs would be a better alternative than
perpetuating the failed war on drugs. The drug war has negatively impacted many lives by demonizing
users and corrupting public officials. Criminalizing alcohol did not work in the 1920s and the same
thing is true today about illicit drugs. Prohibition has stripped away a fundamental right we should
have in a free society, and that is the right to consume whatever you want as an adult. The choice to
consume alcohol was stripped from us at one point, however, Congress eventually passed the 21st
Amendment making alcohol legal again. Alcohol prohibition has given us the opportunity to see the
transformation of a once illegal drug become a legal and regulated substance. The 18th Amendment of
the Constitution made alcohol consumption, distribution and production illegal. Prohibition
subsequently gave birth to a criminal industry. Prohibition fostered the growth of powerful criminal
organizations. It is clear that criminalizing a substance previously legal and letting the criminal market
regulate it was a failure. The illegality of alcohol led to a black market where users were persecuted by
society, which is exactly what the war on drugs is doing now. In our society,

Super Normal Case Study
2.3 Super Normal
Being a concept to celebrate sustainability in durable design, Super Normal is a concept developed by
furniture designer Jasper Morrison and product designer Naoto Fukasawa. It refers to timeless
products that serve people without drawing attention to themselves (Fukasawa Morrison 2012).
Calling for a re realization of unobtrusive designs in daily life, Super Normal encourages designers to
re acknowledge the parts people naturally think are good in design. Generally, designers or even
people who buy designs do not advocate normal as a design concept, they expect something special or
novel to catch eyes. However, the products that make a difference in daily life are invisible (Norman,
2013, p.13). Design is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here, the term beauty involves both forms, shapes and the relationships between people and the
circumstances (Fukasawa Morrison, 2012, p.110). Not that there is anything wrong with beauty in
Super Normal. On the contrary, the beauty of a product can elicit positive emotions that open up the
cognitive system and inspires people to find out creative solutions easily (Norman, 2002). Here is a
clear cut case (Pic.10) that illustrates the aesthetic differences between Arial and Helvetica. They both
are sans serif typefaces that are universally embraced by different applications. At first glance, they
seem extremely similar. But if designers examine the characters in each type closely, the differences
become apparent. Mark Simonson[9], an American graphic designer, produced an analysis of these
two types, showing how much more refined design of Helvetica than that of Arial (Simonson, 2001).
The primary difference between the two is the treatments of their endings. While Helvetica is
vertically cut, Arial is slightly angled. For instance, the tail of the a is gently curved in Helvetica, but
not in Arial. Similarly, the top of the t and the ends of the strokes in the C and S are perfectly
horizontal in the former but slightly angled in the latter. The letterforms of Helvetica demonstrate
exactly how thoughtfully designed they are. The typeface is uniform and structurally sound by
adhering to a guide of

My Local Organic Farming Community

to learn pressing issues young farmers face. I almost immediately notice that Sonoma County, which
is quite a large, has extremely knowledgeable leaders on the topic of food politics. Furthermore, I
found these people are generous and living an organic local lifestyle. Aside from the given importance
of eating local and healthy, there are two major factors which make it critical for me to learn and eat
organic foods.

Shortly after getting involved with local Farmers Guild, which now has 11 chapters, I realized the dire
importance to spread the word and message about the future of young farmers. The typical American
farmer is over 57, white and male; he often has no succession plan. One of my clients, Larry Peter the
Owner of Petaluma Creamery worked in agriculture as a young man picking prunes and raspberries.
He washed milk bottles; bottle fed calves, and drove a forklift for ten years while he learned the
business. He saved his money, bought run down houses, fixed them up, and rented them out. In doing
research, I found farmers and ranchers earned a median annual income of nearly $61,000 in 2010,
according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. (1) Seven of the 10 best paying U.S. cities for
farmers were in California, ranking at $80,0000 $87,000 annually. According to a recent report
commissioned by the USDA, there will be 20,000 fewer university graduates in the fields of
agriculture and the environment than will be needed in just the next five years. In order to feed 9
billion people by 2050, we will need a diverse population of agriculture researchers who can think
outside the hectare and leverage the experience of nontraditional learners including veterans, refugees
from rural backgrounds, migrant farmworkers and female farm owners. (5)

  • 2. How Is The Australian Legend Poem In the opinion of historian and author of The Australian Legend Russel Ward, his representation of the typical Australian is a practical, rough man who gives things a go. Other perceived ideas stated in his text are; masculinity and mateship, egalitarianism, larrikinism, anti intellectualism and stoicism. Published in 1958, these ideologies symbolize the typical man in the days in was written, whereas nowadays it can be perceived differently with modern, multicultural Australians. Though most of the ideas are still accurate to todays people, it was only focused on the men, and not the women or general society including the indigenous. I have chosen to analyse two classic Australian bush poems by two well known competitors. The first one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Dawson s aesthetic illustration, the life of a bushman is a tough and difficult scene, having to battle many seasonal and lifelong challenges. • 3. Nitrogen Cycle Lab For the Nitrogen Cycle Lab, I, along with four other classmates, designed and created a self sustaining nitrogen cycle. One factor that helped us create a successful self sustaining nitrogen cycle was we elevated each tank by placing foam blocks under them. This increased the speed of the water flow. Another good factor we included was we used tape to help loop the tubes to connect two tanks together. The tape also prevented any tubes from shooting water upwards and out of the tank. Although our water flow was successful in the end, we had multiple errors before we achieved a self sustaining nitrogen cycle. One major issue that we came across was our holes were bigger than our tubes. This created several different leaks which caused the water ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Voter Id And The United States Voter ID Discrimination The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude. The Fifteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution and one of the most important when it comes to voting in the United States of America. This Amendment was ratified on February 3, 1870 after the civil war and was met by a flurry of great full voters and scornful American citizens. Racism has been a problem in America since its founding and, despite common misconception, is still a serious issue today. With the 2016 elections just around the corner it s important we has American recognize the issue of voter ID discrimination and how it is not only going directly against the constitution but also unethical and immoral in our modern American society. While the main purpose for voter ID is to eliminate fraud and corruption in the American voting system, it has brought with it consequences that discourage and even prohibit eligible voters to vote. The 2012 election, a vast number of state required a government issued photo ID. Even the state Indiana required this even though state GOP officials couldn t provide a single instance of a voter committing the type of fraud the new ID law was supposed to stop (Berman). Surprisingly, in Wisconsin, they will only except ID s containing a current address, birth date, signature and two year expiration date that so far ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Descriptive Use Of Imagery In Macbeth By William Shakespeare Stories have an incredible ability to make readers see without using their eyes. Words that are carefully placed together can create strong moments and feeling that the reader can easily visualize. A writer and author who had best mastered this skill was William Shakespeare. Even though Shakespeare wrote plays that were eventually performed live, he was still able to use imagery to describe scenes that did not take place on stage. Because Shakespeare successfully understood human nature, his imagery made the plays he wrote more emotional and complex. Imagery can be described in several different ways. Visual imagery is one that most readers are familiar with. This is when the writer uses descriptive words to create an image in the reader s minds. For example, saying the girls golden hair glittered in the sunlight or the stars speckled the dark sky like precious jewels would create a distinct picture. Another type of imagery is olfactory imagery. This is when descriptive words are used to create a smell. This can become a powerful tool since humans are able to remember smells longer than any other sense they posses. Auditory imagery is when a reader can hear sounds when reading certain text. Examples of this can be the crack of a rusty cannon firing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most powerful example of this in the play is in the second act. The scenes in the second act are shrouded darkness. The darkness foreshadows King Duncan s death and the evil that is brewing within Macbeth. In scene four of the play, the character Ross describes the darkness after Duncan s death. He says By th clock tis day, and yet darkness strangles the traveling lamp. Is t night s predominance, or the day s shame, that darkness does the face of the earth entomb, when living light should kiss it (2.4.6 10)? This visual imagery describes how dark the scene really is. This creates an eerie atmosphere for the events that continue to transpire after Duncan s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Battle Of Inchon Landing The Battle of Inchon Landing WO1 Ryan P. Hoover Warrant Officer Basic Course 02 14 CW3 DATE Introduction On 25 June 1950, North Korea forces launched a surprise invasion on South Korea under the command of Kim Il sung and the North Korean People s Army. During this time, the North Korean People s Army forced through the 38th parallel and pushed through the unprepared Republic of Korea forces to the Southeast Pusan peninsula. The approximately 125 mile defensive perimeter was where United Nation forces withdrew to by August, 1950 and held that Southeast position of the peninsula. While UN forces were outnumbered, commanders were in search for a new course of action that would help skew the war in favor of them. It was then General of the Army Douglas MacArthur first envisioned his plan for what would become the Battle of Inchon. Inchon is located in the Northwestern corner of modern South Korea and was a key location for the North Korean forces. Inchon, located just 25 miles west of the nation s capital, Seoul, was a key location for North Korean resupplies . Friendly intelligence and air reconnaissance observed that there were two major supply lines that were along the two major highways coming from both the northeast and northwest. It was through these two major supply lines that North Korean forces were able to then disseminate supplies throughout the South Korean peninsula and ultimately down to the Pusan area in the southeast corner. Because Inchon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If step is missing or inaccurate, then the succeeding steps will fail. When developing research plan, always be aware that this principles critically affects the progress. One of critical aspects of evaluation and appraisal of reported research is to consider the quality of the research instrument. According to Parahoo (2006), in quantitative studies reliability and validity are two of the most important concept used by researcher to evaluate the quality of the study that is carried out. Assessment of stability involves method of test retest method reliability and using of alternate forms reliability. 3.2.1 Test retest method This is the classical test of stability called test retest method. This method allows researchers to administer the same measure to a sample twice and then compare the scores (Polit amp; Beck, 2012). According to Wood amp; Rose Kerr (2006), test retest method is repeated measurements over time using the same instrument on the same subject to produce the same result. For example, a test is developed to measure knowledge of mathematics. The test is given to a group of students and repeated two weeks later. Their score in both tests must be similar if the test measure reliably. A reliable questionnaire will give consistent result over time. If the results are not consistent, the test is not considered reliable and will need to be revised until it does measure consistently. Based on the above example, the result from the first testing can be correlated with the result of the second testing and resulted with high correlation. The comparison is performed objectively by computing a reliability coefficient, which is an index of the magnitude of the test s reliability. Reliability coefficient usually ranges between 0.00 and 1.00. The higher the coefficient, the more stable the measure. Reliability coefficients above 0.80 usually are considered good as stated by Polit and Beck (2012). For unstable variables, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She made me who I am today by teaching me responsibility, finances and life struggles. She never bothered to hide the cruelty of the real world. First of all, if I look back I can always remember my mother teaching me responsibility. As early as six years young my mom would sit down with me every night when she got home and go over my homework to make sure it was done. I also remember her telling me constantly to take responsibility for my actions. For example, when I was in highschool I brought cough tablets to school. My friend was carrying my book bag when they searched her and found them. When I heard about it I stepped forward and took responsibility for them and I ended up not getting in trouble because of my honesty. From that moment forward I knew my mother had really raised me amazingly. Giving me the tools I needed to be successful in life. • 11. Analysis Of Robert Frost And The Tuft Of Flowers There once lived a fellow named Robert Frost, who was one of the greatest poets of the 20th century. In the year 1874, Robert s life began in San Francisco. He lived there for eleven years with his family until his father died. When that happened, Robert, his mother, and little sister all moved to Massachusetts. There, Robert went to high school and graduated top of his class. He went on to complete only one term at Dartmouth College, and after that, two years at Harvard University. After leaving college, Robert worked as a farmer and later as a factory worker for a short time. Next, he taught English at Pinkerton Academy for four years. Mr. Frost s wrote many poems, one of which is called The Tuft of Flowers, is one of Frost s earlier works. Accordingly, the focus this essay will be analyzing that poem and comparing it with another Robert Frost wrote. There are two parts of this essay, analyzing the first poem using four elements of poetry: theme, imagery, sound, and symbol, and the second part is a comparison of the first another written by Frost, Acquainted with the Night. In the beginning of The Tuft of Flowers, a newly mown field can be seen. The flowers and tall grasses, which had been a haven and a joy for insects, animals, and people, were unceremoniously assaulted by the blade of the workman. The author of the poem is observing the scene, alone; his loneliness is evident. However, this hopelessness is as he was before he noticed the tuft of flowers. He viewed all ... She suggests the following ideas, which are define the meeting purpose, consider the audience, set an agenda, consider the meeting setting (location, seating arrangements, etc.), the meeting time, ascertain needed information, and establish tangible end product(s). Meeting Purpose As Barrett (2011) suggests, one of the most important first steps is to define the meeting purpose. The meeting organizer must evaluate whether the meeting is held to inform, persuade, instruct, or engage. In this scenario, the meetings purpose is a hybrid of informing the board and engaging them in solutions and directions. Consider the audience Next, Barrett (2011) suggests consideration of the audience. For this meeting, the board of directors, who are the decision makers, is the audience. Included along with the board of directors, key personnel such as the budget officer and legal team ought to be included. • 15. The Importance Of Learning Experience The nursing profession encourages lifelong update learning (NMC, 2010), and student nurses, as adult learners and aspiring professionals, need to start developing themselves within the culture of lifelong learning in the workplace and take responsibility for their learning (Hinchliff, 2004). This is possible with effective communication in sharing appropriate experience, skills, and knowledge to facilitate best practice and enhance learning opportunities (NMC, 2008). The purpose of this essay is to analyse a specific episode of learning event that I have been involved in practice setting which my mentor was the teacher. I will explore teaching style and learning theories related to this experience. In addition, an action plan will be formulated and presented in appendices to explore on how the learning event will impact on the registrant and highlight key development areas to overcome. The learning experience that I will be looking at in this essay is the safe administration of intramuscular depot injections taught by my mentor. Nursing and Midwifery council (2009) considered administering intramuscular injection as an essential component of nursing training for pre registration student nurses. Therefore, confidently learning how to administer this form of injection is important for promoting safety and the quality of care delivered to the public (NMC,2015). It is the role of the mentor to facilitate student learning in achieving this essential skill required for registration (Ness et al, 2010). Learning is defined by Howard (2009) as any event that brings about a relatively permanent change in behaviour, resulting from either experience or practice. Knowles (2005, 2011) also sees learning as a structured, premeditated means of trying ideas which are relevant to problems or challenges. It is important that teacher established student preferred learning style prior to teaching event in order to promote effective learning (Pritchad, 2013). West et al (2007) state that learning style preferences influence how a learner understands and interprets teaching experience. Mentor need to know that students have diverse types of learning styles as not all students learn in the same way, therefore, understanding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Black power is a movement lead by Stokely Carmichael which promoted the idea of black empowerment and creating a community where blacks feel comfortable in. It implies self determination and self motivation. This means blacks should not rely on white authority to fix racial issues but rather take matters into their own hands. It is a call for blacks to define their own goals. This was not only meant as freedom from white authority but also as economical and political independence. In this way Black Power was taking control of the future of blacks in both economical and political ways and establishing a community in which they will not have to suffer living as second class citizens. Black power also encouraged blacks to have pride in their racial heritage and be proud to be black. However, when my family and I travel to another state, there is sometimes a Jacuzzi at the place we stay. So, while in a more favorable climate than in Arizona, my family always takes advantage of getting into the spa. Entering a hot tub is always memorable: one foot in hot to the touch; slide into the pool uncomfortable, at first; but, wait a moment the coziest sensation there could be. Relaxing in the tub is always a communal opportunity. My father discusses something with my mother. My older sister adds her two cents to the conversation, and my brother and I comment when appropriate. It becomes as pleasant a discourse as if we were having supper around the dinner table. It is always a lovely time. If there is a swimming pool nearby, my dad likes to jump in it after leaving the Jacuzzi. My mom and my sister do not understand why, but it is a strangely incredible feeling. The warmth on your body from the hot tub ecstatically contrasts upon impact with the coolness of the swimming pool as you jump into it. I feel like it is what happens when molten lava, flowing down a volcano, hits a cold ocean tide. It is quite a strange sensation, but it is rather exhilarating, as well. Overall, bathing in hot tubs has been a very rare occurrence in my life. However, I can say, upon recollection, that there is one word that consistently describes all those experiences: family. The failure of drug prohibition has sparked some debate in the last fifty years, however, the ignorance about illegal substances has led to little discussion on alternatives to prohibition. Legalizing all drugs would be a better alternative than perpetuating the failed war on drugs. The drug war has negatively impacted many lives by demonizing users and corrupting public officials. Criminalizing alcohol did not work in the 1920s and the same thing is true today about illicit drugs. Prohibition has stripped away a fundamental right we should have in a free society, and that is the right to consume whatever you want as an adult. The choice to consume alcohol was stripped from us at one point, however, Congress eventually passed the 21st Amendment making alcohol legal again. Alcohol prohibition has given us the opportunity to see the transformation of a once illegal drug become a legal and regulated substance. The 18th Amendment of the Constitution made alcohol consumption, distribution and production illegal. Prohibition subsequently gave birth to a criminal industry. Prohibition fostered the growth of powerful criminal organizations. It is clear that criminalizing a substance previously legal and letting the criminal market regulate it was a failure. It refers to timeless products that serve people without drawing attention to themselves (Fukasawa Morrison 2012). Calling for a re realization of unobtrusive designs in daily life, Super Normal encourages designers to re acknowledge the parts people naturally think are good in design. Generally, designers or even people who buy designs do not advocate normal as a design concept, they expect something special or novel to catch eyes. However, the products that make a difference in daily life are invisible (Norman, 2013, p.13). Design is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Here, the term beauty involves both forms, shapes and the relationships between people and the circumstances (Fukasawa Morrison, 2012, p.110). Not that there is anything wrong with beauty in Super Normal. On the contrary, the beauty of a product can elicit positive emotions that open up the cognitive system and inspires people to find out creative solutions easily (Norman, 2002). Here is a clear cut case (Pic.10) that illustrates the aesthetic differences between Arial and Helvetica. They both are sans serif typefaces that are universally embraced by different applications. At first glance, they seem extremely similar. But if designers examine the characters in each type closely, the differences become apparent. Mark Simonson[9], an American graphic designer, produced an analysis of these two types, showing how much more refined design of Helvetica than that of Arial (Simonson, 2001). The primary difference between the two is the treatments of their endings. While Helvetica is vertically cut, Arial is slightly angled. For instance, the tail of the a is gently curved in Helvetica, but not in Arial. Similarly, the top of the t and the ends of the strokes in the C and S are perfectly horizontal in the former but slightly angled in the latter. The letterforms of Helvetica demonstrate exactly how thoughtfully designed they are. The typeface is uniform and structurally sound by adhering to a guide of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. My Local Organic Farming Community For the past few years I ve slowly started getting involved with my local organic farming community to learn pressing issues young farmers face. I almost immediately notice that Sonoma County, which is quite a large, has extremely knowledgeable leaders on the topic of food politics. Furthermore, I found these people are generous and living an organic local lifestyle. Aside from the given importance of eating local and healthy, there are two major factors which make it critical for me to learn and eat organic foods. I have special needs nephew named Lucas you must eat organically. In fact, all his food is measured and blended to get the proper nutrients and enough calories for the day. He is quite sensitive to food, and chemicals, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shortly after getting involved with local Farmers Guild, which now has 11 chapters, I realized the dire importance to spread the word and message about the future of young farmers. The typical American farmer is over 57, white and male; he often has no succession plan. One of my clients, Larry Peter the Owner of Petaluma Creamery worked in agriculture as a young man picking prunes and raspberries. He washed milk bottles; bottle fed calves, and drove a forklift for ten years while he learned the business. He saved his money, bought run down houses, fixed them up, and rented them out. In doing research, I found farmers and ranchers earned a median annual income of nearly $61,000 in 2010, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. (1) Seven of the 10 best paying U.S. cities for farmers were in California, ranking at $80,0000 $87,000 annually. According to a recent report commissioned by the USDA, there will be 20,000 fewer university graduates in the fields of agriculture and the environment than will be needed in just the next five years. In order to feed 9 billion people by 2050, we will need a diverse population of agriculture researchers who can think outside the hectare and leverage the experience of nontraditional learners including veterans, refugees from rural backgrounds, migrant farmworkers and female farm owners.
