Royal Rumble Match Research Paper
Royal Rumble Match: Randy Orton wins the Royal Rumble eliminating Roman Reigns The Viper is
back in the main event picture after winning a fun Royal Rumble with a number of amazing moments.
From Jack Gallagher jumping off the top with an open umbrella, Baron Corbin shockingly eliminating
Braun Strowman, Luke Harper turning on Bray Wyatt, Lesnar getting eliminated by Goldberg in quick
fashion, to the Goldberg/Undertaker confrontation, what the match lacked in surprise entrants was
made up for in theatrics. Once the match got down to the final four of Orton, Wyatt, Jericho, Reigns,
Jericho was the first to go via Reigns Superman Punch, followed by Wyatt being eliminated by
Reigns. But, just when you thought we were on the verge of an Alamodome revolt, with Reigns
winning for the second time in three years, Randy Orton hit an RKO and threw Reigns over the top. ...

As you know we re not generally part of the crowd who consistently dumps all over Reigns in ring
ability here at CDW, but his entrance as the 30th competitor was an odd choice after the last two years

up Reigns turning into a black hat, I d be more on board, but the refusal to move Cena from his Never

Nelson Mandela
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was the first black president of South Africa and the first elected in a fully
representative democratic election. Rolihlahla Mandela was born into the Madiba clan in the village of
Mvezo, Transkei, on 18 July 1918. Mandela did his B.A and LLB from Cape Town. Hearing the
stories from his elders, he also wanted to contribute his level best to the freedom struggle of his

segregation and discrimination. Correspondingly, they felt empowered to adopt the necessary

In addition to the characteristics of Mandela and his followers, situational characteristics also
facilitated Mandela s success as a transformational leader. Along with domestic support, this system of
international backing culminated in his eventual release and inauguration as South Africa s first black
president on May 10, 1994. Mandela also earned high respect by his people. By this way it was easy

Clinical Question: In veterans with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), does quetiapine
monotherapy compared to placebo improve symptoms with tolerable adverse reactions? Search
Strategy: A PubMed search was conducted to locate primary literature on the use of quetiapine as
monotherapy in veterans with PTSD. Search terms used were quetiapine , monotherapy and PTSD to
ensure appropriate studies were retrieved by the search. Rationale for Selection of Literature: The
literature selected must addresses the use of quetiapine as monotherapy for PTSD. Thus, studies of
quetiapine as adjunctive therapy were ruled out as they were irrelevant to the clinical question. After
reviewing the available data from the literature search, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

in 1:1 ratio to quetiapine or placebo treatment for 12 weeks (1). Initially, patients started at a dose of
25mg at bedtime and clinical response and tolerability were used to guide titration (1). At the end, the
dose ranged from 50 to 800mg daily with an average of 258mg daily for the quetiapine arm (1). Other
psychotropic medications may not be used during the study except rescue mediations during the first 2
weeks including chloral hydrae for insomnia or agitation and lorazepam for anxiety or agitation (1).
Participants were followed up during week 1, 2, 4, 8 and 12 for evaluation (1). The primary outcome
was the total Clinician Administered PTSD Scale (CAPS) score which the quetiapine arm had a
greater reduction of score (75.40 to 53.85) than placebo arm (70.60 to 65.66) after 12 weeks with
p=0.02 (1). For secondary outcomes, quetiapine arm also had higher reduction in CAPS re
experiencing score, CAPS hyperarousal score, Davidson Trauma Scale and Hamilton Depression
Rating Scale (HAM D) scores than the placebo arm at the end (1). However, there was no difference
in CAPS avoidance/numbing score and negative symptom subscale of the Positive and Negative

Purloined Letter And The Murders In The Rue Morgue
The stories I chose for this unit are The Fall of the House of Usher, The Purloined Letter, and The
Murders in the Rue Morgue. The first story I chose involved with two siblings that have something
wrong with them. The brother who has a mental illness which leads to the suffering of fear and
anxiety, as well as having a morbid acuteness of the senses. The Purloined Letter tells about how the
queen got her letter stolen by Minister D, and yet Dupin stole that Minister D s letter who replaced the
stolen letter with a fake one. The Murders in the Rue Morgue tells about how Dupin solves the
murders of two people with a daughter s throat cut then being stuffed up a chimney and the mother
was strangled then thrown out a window.
The Fall of the House of Usher showed Roderick cope with death and gloominess by reading literature

People would also like to have immortality such as living beyond death or leaving a mark the world
for people to remember. The few people that would be different about death could be avoiding the
thought of death or they are not aware of the feeling about becoming closer to death. People would do
more positive things to leave their mark, so thinking of death would drive others to do good. The other
part of the people who think of negative things will believe that death will have a terrible outcome.
The only character I believe would act the closest to actual people would be Dupin. Dupin copes with
death by reading books and he does more good if he solves the impossible which leaves his mark on
the world. I could agree with Rodrick from The Fall of the House of Usher because of how he deals
with the feeling with similar to Dupin, because they have a hobby in literature and Roderick uses his

Reasons Why Student Athletes Should Not Be Paid For...
Division 1 and Division 2 colleges provide over 2.9 billion dollars a year in scholarships to student
athletes. Student athletes should not be compensated for participating in college sports. College
athletes can receive full ride scholarships for playing their sport of choice. Is the 40,000 dollars they
are receiving in scholarships not compensation; thus prompting the question is the top tier education
they are being provided with, not compensation enough? Most of the thousands of students that
participate in college sports compete for the love of the game, not for a paycheck. Furthermore,
college athletes understand that they may not compete at the pro level, in fact, only 2 % of college
athletes go on to play professionally. The main part of the term student athletes is student. Students do
not go to college expecting a check at the end of every month or to land a spot in the first round of the
draft, instead the purpose is to receive an education. All things considered, student athletes should not
receive compensation for playing sports in college because it would be almost financially impossible,
some are already provided with money from scholarships , and finally they are being provided with an
excellent higher education.
Some say colleges should pay athletes because it s a full time job, scholarships aren t enough, not all
players get scholarships or because the NCAA and universities make money off of the sports teams
and players. A big reason the controversy came

Neuman Systems Model
Neuman systems model. The NSM identifies that any system has boundaries meant to protect a single
client, family, or social issue within the system (Neuman Fawcett, 2011). The model is dynamic with a
continuum of variables that influence the stability of the system. The influence, such as stressors, can
alter the system or restore the system. A principle of the NSM is optimal wellness represented as the
greatest degree of system stability (Neuman Fawcett, 2011). The NSM theory asserts nursing to care
for a complex systsem, requiring an approach to assimilate and adapt into the system. The NSM
utilizes the internal and external cues of the environment to influence the system. The nature of the
system determines the complexity of the system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
NSM depicts stress and reaction to the stability of stress on the system. A patient and/or family
reaction to the transition from oncology care to hypervigilance in primary care can experience stress,
most often as psychological distress. The repeated cyclical nature of the response to the stresses of
changed home life, family functioning, body image, handling daily activities, or connecting with a
support group changes the client. The ideal of NSM is to attain optimal stability and reach a new
developmental level (Neuman Fawcett, 2011). NSM fits the need of the PICO project through the
interpretation of concepts and the dynamic nature of stressors and reactions to the basic structure
(patient and/or family). A key component in utilization of the NSM for screening psychological
distress after oncology care, is self report of the instability of transition to a new lifestyle. Cancer
related psychological distress is widespread (Hoffman, 2012). The distress can remain hidden as
priorities in cancer rehabilitation and family adjustment take place. The initial stressor of the cancer
diagnosis creates a change in the patient and/or family (basic structure functioning and energy
resources), however after cancer treatment (variables), the client system (patient and/or family) still is
adjusting to change (lines of resistance). Patients and families may not go back to their prior life
(environment) but transition into a new

Why Did Alcatraz Escape
Alcatraz The treacherous life at Alcatraz led many men to snap. Alcatraz was a death trap for some, on
an island just miles away from San Francisco, with the freezing currents of San Francisco Bay
surrounding it. Over the years there had been many escape attempts, but none as mysterious as the one
that Frank Morris, Allen West, and brothers Clarence and John Anglin had been plotting for months.
Numerous people believe that they died during this escape attempt, but evidence has shown that they
most likely escaped Alcatraz successfully and survived. This evidence includes no bodies were found,
a lot of people have claimed to have seen them, and a family friend later shared a picture of the
brothers after their escape with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evidence has been found, that proves they had an outside helper, who was included in their ingenious
plan. The day after the escape it was reported that an electrical cord, one hundred twenty feet long was
found missing. There was also a boat schedule for leaving Alcatraz and some magazines telling how to
tie and untie a boat from a dock and how a boat enters and exits a slip. These were found on Frank
Morris s desk. The theory is that they came up under the boat dock, went under the water and tied the
electrical cord to the scaling up by the rudder. Then fed the cord all the way around the dock so when
the prison launch was coming out of the slip they would be able to position the raft, so it would be
pulled out toward the mainland. Then they somehow untied the electrical cord and paddled to a nearby
getaway boat. Robert Checchi saw a Pristine white boat waiting for something, or someone on that

Effectiveness Of School Lunch And Nutritional Policies Essay
Youth between the ages of 5 and 18 consume up to nearly half of their daily nourishment in the school
setting (Gosliner et al, 2011, p. 146). With such a significant number as nearly half, it has become key
that students receive the correct nourishment from the school lunches provided to them. Parents and
students argue that school lunch and nutritional policies have overstepped their boundaries; however,
the schools and institutions feel the need to enforce and support the policies, stating they are
improving the child s health. The identification of each side s arguments is key to finding the
effectiveness of school lunch and nutritional policies and to find out if they are actually working to
help make students healthier and better educated about their diets.
The effectiveness of nutritional policies can be seen in the education of the students about their diets.
Many students have the mindset that a food is good for their health, which is only half the fight. This
first half is explained in a study done by the University of California, Berkeley: Overall, students rated
fresh fruit as the most important item to be able to by at school (69% responded important or very
important), followed by sports drinks (63%), green salad (55%), and other vegetables (53%) (Gosliner
et al, 2011, p. 148). The fact that students are able to know that these foods are healthy shows that the
nutritional policies are doing their job; the policies are working to shape a student s diet

The Islamic Religion Of Islam
The Islamic religion according to the Quran, is supposed to be a nonviolent religion that promotes
peace to others and especially people of there own religion. The way that the Islamic religion is now is
much different than it was in the past based on the Quran. During the times we studied in class, the
Muslims were very obeying of their ruler and their religion. An example of proper loyalty shown by
the Muslims is during the crusades. In today s society, people continue to break the rules of the Quran
through terrorism. Terrorist groups like Al Qaeda and Isis are two examples of Islamic terrorist
organizations. Since the time we studied in class, the Islamic religion has turned to a much more
violent religion The Quran is the most sacred document to the Islamic people and basically tells them
the way that they need to live. The Quran forces Islamic people to obey the Five Pillars of Faith .
These pillars include declaring the creed, which is There is no god but God, and Muhammad is his
Prophet. They also have to pray five times a day facing the sacred city of Mecca, give alms to the poor
in the community, fast each day during the month of Ramadan (the ninth month of the year), and make
a hajj, which is a pilgrimage to Mecca once in their lifetime (Spodek 348). The Quran also directly
states [2:190] fight in the way of Allah with those who fight with you, and do not exceed the limits,

Solomon Asch Conformity Study
In 1951, Solomon Asch, a gestalt psychologist conducted an experiment regarding conformity. In this
experiment, Asch tested how an individual can be influenced by a group of people and their views.
Even though the test wasn t extremely crucial. The purpose was to measure how likely individuals in
this society are to conform to the majority. Throughout the experiment, Asch saw how an individual
responded based on the answers of the group. With this, he was able to demonstrate how likely we are
to conform when there is group pressure.
In this experiment, Asch conducted a lab to test the conformity of the participants. All fifty of the
participants were males and students from a college in the United States. To be able to identify the
percentage of individuals that could conform to the thoughts and ideas of the majority, Asch had to
deceive the participants. The experiment involved seven confederates, most of them had agreed on
what they were going to say before the experiment unlike the real participant. In each of the trials,
both the participants and the confederates were shown cards one would be a single line, while the
other was a card with a set of lines. The participants and the confederates were to pick a line that
looked like the single line on the other card. However, the participant would usually be the second to
last to answer. Asch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this specific experiment, we can see how group pressure can affect our mental process and our

the conformity experiment was trying to show was how likely an individual is to give into society s
ideals and beliefs, without questioning, out of fear of being ostracized or because they believe that the
group is better informed. With this experiment, we can understand the reason why our behavior and
mental processes can

Scholars As Well As Public Figures Have Suggested That
Scholars as well as public figures have suggested that a world run by women would, fundamentally,
be a more peaceful and equal one. ladies, as the stereotype goes (and, actually, as a decent amount of
empirical research suggests), tend to be more collaborative in work and leadership, more empathetic,
and much, much less violent on an individual level. ,as Vice President Joe Biden recently suggested
foreign policy is a logical extension of personal relationships, and if women are widely acknowledged
to be canny at conducting them, perhaps it follows that female leadership in international affairs would
produce more empathy and collaboration between countries. To the extent that global problems like
violence and inequality are failures of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is the precondition for such peace. There cannot be peace between nations until there is peace
between the two halves of humanity, the mothers and fathers of all living and all yet to live. Steinem
sees a connection between what we have chosen to normalize in male female relations, and what we
see at the level of state and society.
The family is the basic cell of the government, she explains, it is where we are trained to believe that
we are human beings or that we are chattel, it is where we are trained to see the sex and race divisions
and become callous to injustice even if it is done to ourselves, to accept as biological a full system of
authoritarian government.
Truly, it should not come as a surprise to us that societies which are rooted in male dominance over
females are in no way peaceful or democratic; as noted by Steinem. We are never going to have
democratic countries or peaceful countries until we have democratic or peaceful families because you
must teach men to dominate in order to maintain a male dominated system and that is a very ugly
education, indeed, where the first to be dominated are those within men s own families who are
different from them
Domestic violence is the seedbed of all other violence based on

My Observation At The Landlord And Tenant Supervisor
Introduction:
This report is based on my observation at the Landlord and Tenant Board which is located 3 Robert
Speck Parkway Suite 520 Mississauga, Ontario L47 2G5 on Tuesday, January 26th, 2016 and
Wednesday, January 27th, 2016. Throughout the day at the Landlord and Tenant Board we had
observed many different cases.
In terms of location, the office building was in close juxtaposition to a public bus stop that had a route
that lead directly from Brampton. The bus schedule conveniently operated every 9 minutes. There
were two Brampton busses that lead into the location, the 502 and the 103. The bus was convenient
and reliable however if you are going everyday it will become very costly. If you are a tenant with a
car it is simple to drive from Brampton to Mississauga. The parking is conveniently in front of the
building, but there is a cost for parking; for the whole day $7.00, for an hour $5.25, for 40 minutes
$3.50 and for 20 minutes $1.75. As for the parking, it is convenient to have your own source of
transportation nonetheless it is quite costly.
When you walk into the building there is a front desk with a security guard able to direct you to the
floor you need to go to. The Landlord and Tenant Board is located on the 5th floor, the Board Office
has five separate cubicles with secretaries able to help you with various questions. The Board Office is

Homelessness And Its Effects On Society
It s time to declare a war on homelessness, which is evolving into a crisis, proclaimed Mayor Kirk
Caldwell in The Honolulu Star Advertiser. (Katel, 841 864) Homelessness has become a widely
known issue in the United States. Many people today are living in the streets without a source of food,
water, or a place to sleep at night. Some who are among the homeless include the elderly, children,
and those who are mentally ill. This is a cause for concern for citizens who are living their daily lives.
Some people express their fear of homeless persons, believing that they are just beggars for money
and take up space on the streets. Although the description homeless people is not always true,
homelessness does affect society and puts the future generation at risk of becoming homeless as well.
People need to bring attention to the homeless problem across the United States so action can be taken
and change will take place.
Homelessness can be divided into two groups: people who are homeless, and those who are
chronically homeless. According to The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD),
homelessness includes those who are living in dwellings unfit for human habitation, in emergency
shelters or temporary housing, and/or leaving such a place. (Katel, 841 864) On the other hand, those
who are considered chronically homeless are usually homeless for one or more years and have a
disability or some kind of addiction. Today, homelessness is not a new issue America is

Example Of Social Identity Theory
Few people are going to openly admit to being prejudice against people of other races, gender, and
religions. However that doesn t stop many of us from having unintentional racist thoughts. In 1979,
Henri Tajfel, a social psychologist, proposed that the groups which people belonged to are an
important source of pride and self esteem. Groups give us a sense of social identity: a sense of
belonging to the social world. This ideal of categorizing and subconsciously labeling ourselves is
better known as Social Identity Theory . Tajfel continues by saying In order to increase our self image
we enhance the status of the group to which we belong. For example, England is the best country in
the world! We can also increase our self image by discriminating and holding prejudice views against
the out group (the group we don t belong to). For example, the Americans, French etc. are a bunch of
losers! Therefore, we divided the world into them and us based through a process of social
categorization (i.e. we put people into social groups). This is known as in group (us) and out group
(them). Social identity theory states that the in group will discriminate against the out group to
enhance their self image. We all unintentionally discriminate against others that are in the out group ,
and by doing this we are excluding ourselves from certain religions, cultures, races, and even genders.
This ideal of labeling ourselves can be traced back to childhood and factors such as where we

The Performance Of Tone Mapping
3 PREVIOUS WORK
Because of the great interest of HDR images and their advantages, tone mapping techniques are used
to display these images on LDR devices. Many researchers made different studies for evaluating the
performance of tone mapping algorithms. Debevec and Malik proposed that a HDR image can be
created from three or more LDR images of the same scene under different exposures. Through
technological advances and the development of photograph technology, we can get access to HDR
cameras which can take HDR photos and videos directly now. Therefore, there is an increasing
demand for tone mapping algorithms. There are two types of tone mapping algorithm: global
operators and local operators. The global tone mapping methods are simply mapped the input HDR
image I^h (x,y) to an output LDR image I^l (x,y) = f (I^h (x,y)) , where f () is a global compression
function which is spatially invariant, such as gamma function, linear function, histogram based
function and the function adapted to tone reproduction curves. Hence, the local tone mapping methods
decompose the input HDR image into multiple layers or areas, apply different compressing algorithm
in different layers or areas and recombine all the layers or areas into a LDR image. Similar with
Durand, Farbman which segmented the HDR image into two layer a base layer and a detail layer,
while the base layer is obtained by applying an alternative edge reserving smoothing operator and the
detail layer is obtained by

Morris Water Maze Essay
Intro:
Stress is a change that disrupts or tries to threatens to disrupt bodies homeostasis to an unusual degree.
Anything that can induce a significant disturbance in homeostasis is the stressor that can be either
chronic or acute depending on it s duration. This in term can cause the body to response in certain
ways to adapt to the stress but at certain time when the stress prolongs an individual can enter a stage
of exhaustion where upon the body can no longer adapt to the stress thus can cause deleterious effects
on learning and memory. Certain spatial learning memory tasks such as water maze performance may
be impaired due to the exposure of stress. Morris water maze is a procedure

They were then tested on the morris water maze and found the distance taken to travel and find the
platform decreased from first trials to second trials indicating better short term spatial learning while
the measurement in long term spatial learning the socially stressed rats were swimming longer
distances to get to the platform between first and second sessions. Which suggests that long term
spatial memory in the morris water maze was impaired. This experiments indicate that exposure to
social insabilty stress only impaired long term spatial memory and not short term spatial memory in
the morris water maze. This current study after rats were exposed to the stress were placed back into
their housing with another rat that was also exposed to the stress procedure but exposure the rat may
be some sort of coping mechanism for the rats and that might be as to why the stress didn t effect short
term spatial memory in the morris water maze. As well this study is focusing on social stress by
isolating the rats but by exposing them to another rat in the same housing they were before exposure
to the stress may make the rats bond as they both were exposed to the stress which could mitigate the
prior stress exposure. In addition short term memory might not have been effected due to stresses
ability to effect distinct memory systems

Essay on Helling V. Carey
1. Introduction Rarely any physician intends to harm patients when he or she provides treatment to
them. Patients see physicians and specialists in full faith that they will get help with a condition. What
complicates the patient doctor relationship is that the outcome of each patient s treatment is different
because of individual health conditions and the course of treatment chosen by the doctor. Problems
arise when a patient is not satisfied with care provided by the doctor or in extreme cases when a
patient dies. Since most of the time it is hard to clearly determine whether the outcome was solely a
result of the course of treatment chosen by the doctor or whether other factors played a role too, quite
often patients take their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mrs. Helling filed a lawsuit against her ophthalmologist but during the trial the court ruled in favor of
the defendants arguing that in ophthalmology it was not a standard of profession to perform routine
glaucoma tests in patients under forty years of age. It is important to note here that the standards of the
profession did require performing pressure tests if the patient s complaints and symptoms indicated
that the patient may be suffering from glaucoma. The defendants argument was that the test was given
thirty days after the patients first complained of visual field problems. The jury decided in favor of the
defendants and the court ruled accordingly. The Court of Appeals affirmed the lower court s decision
at which point the plaintiff petitioned for a review of the case. On appeal the Supreme Court of
Washington reversed the judgment and ruled for the plaintiff stating that the defendants were negligent
in not having administered the test at a time when the disease could have been prevented (LexisNexis,
Helling v. Carey). The court s decision was largely based on the argument that the test was simple and
inexpensive and should have been administered considering the severity of the injury that resulted
from the failure to give it. As suggested by Meltzer in the New England Law Review, two
explanations to the decision in Helling are possible. First, that the court intended to abrogate the

and united, and willing to help each other, to the point that they would even risk their lives for one
another. Their culture has certain aspects of it that every nation should have. In his book, John Hersey
explores the effects that culture and environment have on an individual s views and belief through
analyzing a stereotypical Japanese man, an Americanized Japanese priest, and a widowed Japanese
woman and how they react similarly to the bombing of Hiroshima. The influence of Japanese culture
has an astounding impact on the reactions of Hersey s characters.
Throughout his writing, Hersey s story reveals the effects of the Japanese culture on the people after
the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. After the bomb was dropped, it was not everyone for
themselves but rather, the opposite. People came together to help the wounded, and since so many
were hurt and there wasn t enough first responders, everyone was willing to help one another. This
wasdue to the Japanese culture and how close it makes everyone. Unlike Americans, the Japanese are
not selfish. Varley Pride wrote about the pride the Japanese culture brings book, Japanese Culture.
This Japanese pride is another important reason as to why the Japanese help each other they hate to
see one another hurt or wounded. The Deep Culture of Japanese Values in Tcworld speaks to how

Nursing Concept Analysis Paper
A concept is an image molded from ones on personal experience, knowledge, expectations and
emotions. Concepts are the abstractions and the building blocks of theories and conceptual
frameworks (Cline, 2015). Concept analysis is a term that refers to the process of unfolding,
exploring, and understanding concepts for the purpose of delineation, comparison, clarification,
refinement, and validation (Townsend Scanlan, 2011, p.1 ). Concept analysis makes a vague or unclear
concept to clearer so that everyone shares a common language. When a theory is conceptually
analyzed, it is considered valued. Concept analysis is a method of concept development and is a
component of theory development. A major portion of the nursing theories, research and concepts are

Walker and Avant s concept analysis model was used to analyze the concept of spiritual care to
provide an inclusive definition of the spiritual care in nursing. The concept analysis was done based
on Jean Watson s caring theory. According to Watson spiritual care is the core of nursing care.
Spirituality is a critical component in nursing to provide holistic care to the patient. Even though the
increasing awareness of spiritual care present, such care is lacking in nursing (Ramezani et al., 2014).
This paper will provide a detailed description of concept analysis on spirituality based on Jean Watson
s caring theory. It also provide information on various steps of concept analysis, literature review of

The Wild By Jon Krakauer
Psychology serves a Role Kids who have been a victim of maltreatment are often times hindered in
development as the rest of their life plays out. No matter the starting age, a family neglect can create
in kids an odd and unpleasant feeling. The constant exposure to depressors and bring me downs that
effected kids see really puts them into a terrible cycle. Some cases of maltreatment lead to
extraordinary stories and even more impressive characters. In Into the Wild, by Jon Krakauer, we can
observe that Chris McCandless fell into this vicious cycle, and was effected by it throughout his
adventurous life. Some of McCandless experiences later in life can be directly correlated with his
childhood difficulties. But, in order of make sense ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The way kids are raised by their parents effects their decision making and their values, beliefs and self
image until the day they die. If a kid grows up figuring things out herself or is neglected etc., that kid
is forced to do what is necessary to develop as fully as possible. Hamama and Arazi describe family
relationships as being crucial in the development of the child. The article specifies that two direct
ways that kids are hurt is through family cohesion and subjective well being. Family cohesion, in this
article, is defined as the connections between family members that each family has, while subjective
well being talks about people s understanding of the life they live and how they react to everyday
situations and how all that effects their emotional and cognitive mind. These two factors have shown
to be directly correlated to children acting aggressively or unpleasant, according to Hamama and
Arazi. Children s aggression behavior includes three parts, according to Hamama and Arazi. 1. A
cognitive dimension hostility;2.an emotional dimension anger; and 3. A behavioral dimension physical
and verbal violence is how they defined aggressive behavior. Those two factors are largely what
influences children and their development, in Hamama and Arazi s eyes(Hamama and Arazi). This
article lays a great foundation for the explanation of Into the Wild. Into the Wild is the non fiction
story of how Chris McCandless, a normal guy in his later

Latin American Identity Essay
The contemporary application of the term Hispanic is a prime example of imperial erasure and re
identification of indigenous peoples to the Americas with their colonizers. Those referred to as
Hispanic are designated as tied to Spain or the Spanish language, but may be of any race, ethnicity, or
culture; furthermore, this term is often incorrectly used interchangeably with more specific terms like
Latinx that denote origins in the region of Latin America. Many people of mixed native and European
blood have no connection to their ancestry to the former. Before the indigenous people of the
Americas were stripped of their language and culture, they were unique civilizations and empires like
the Nahua people whose point of view is recorded in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their practice of human sacrifice was brutal at the very least, but served a purpose in the grand
scheme of their hegemony. They dominated neighboring nations and sacrificed prisoners of war,
believing that the source of all life, the sun, would die unless it were fed with human blood (xxxviii
xxxix). A strong component of the Nahua identity was this status as a military power in present day
central Mexico, reinforced by an education system in which fathers vowed to send their sons to school
to be taught the fundamentals of religion and ethics, and were also trained in the arts of war (xlv). This
identity was challenged when the Spaniards arrived with alien technology such as metal armor,
cannons, and arquebuses. The Aztec Empire exhibited a class system consisting of land owning
nobles, the middle class divided into familial clans, a class of slaves and indentured servants, and a
body of wise men who served as religious scholars (xlii). The government was headed by a king of
noble blood and based in the elaborate capital of Tenochtitlan. The Nahua identity in regards to
lifestyle was tied to their transition from bands of nobles into an urban

Advantage Of Home Field Advantage
There are advantages to playing at home outside of during the game like no traveling, sleeping in your
own bed, and home cooked meals (Voyer, 2015). Other researchers implied that another possible
influence for the home team is officiating bias (Wright and House 1984). In Baumeister and
Steinhilber s study, a supportive audience increased the home team s general motivation during the
game (Baumeister and Steinhilber 1984). Previous research suggested humans are alike animals in a
way that both are more confident, more powerful, and have less stress in their own territory than the
opponent s territory (Ardrey, 1966; Lea 1984; Brown 1987; Forsyth, 1990). According to study done

differed from previous experiment because of how the experimenters from previous studies only
looked at data for how many wins a team had at home and away. An example of a study is how

example is how Jon Bois s study calculated only how many more games a team would win if they

The Disitive And Positive Impacts Of Globalization
Globalisation
Introduction
Globalisation is considered one of the greatest milestones that have happened to the world. Before 25
years, no one imagines that s/he can buy a shirt or even a mobile cover from a different country and it
will be shipped in few days. Although the term globalisation is founded in the nineteenth century, the
application of this concept become obvious and widely use in the last 25 years (Dicken, 2007). The
next section of this report defines globalisation term. The third section mentions some of the positive
and negative impacts of globalisations. The fourth section discusses the impacts of globalisation on
business operation. Finally, the last section concludes the report.
1. What is globalisation?
Many researchers and organisations have defined the term globalisation. For instance, The United
Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) defines globalisation as the
ongoing process that is linking people, neighbourhoods, cities, regions and countries much more
closely together than they have ever been (UNESCO, 2010). Furthermore, Parker B. defines
gloabalisation as a process whereby worldwide interconnections in virtually every sphere of activity
are growing (Parker, 2005: 5). In general, most of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Life After St. Jerome s Indian Horse Novel Study
Life after St. Jerome s: Indian Horse Novel Study For years, First Nations children endured the
harrowing experiences of residential schools. It was not until 1996, did the final residential school
close down. It took over a hundred years of physical, physiological, and the sexual abuse of thousands
of children before residential schools existed no more. Although they do not exist anymore, residential
schools continue to cause pain throughout First Nations communities. There are a variety of novels
that describe the accounts of residential school survivors, both fiction and non fiction, each powerful
in their own way. Indian Horse, a novel by Richard Wagamese, is one of these novels. The book
follows Saul Indian Horse, a boy of Ojibwe descent, and his experiences within St. Jerome s Indian
Residential School. Saul turns to hockey as a form of protection from the fowl memories of his
experiences at St. Jerome s, using the game to ignore the sexual abuse he endured. This denial results
in Saul s pain, which comes out in the form anger on the ice, and which ultimately results in him
taking up alcohol. It is only when Saul returns to St. Jerome s, that he is able to stop the denial, and
begin his path to healing. Richard manages to lead the reader down the same path of denial as Saul,
therefore allowing the reader to experience the same feeling of shock as felt by Saul in his moments of
realization. Saul s denial of his sexual abuse

Stopping World Hunger in Cuba
Many wise people have had much to say on the subject of hunger. World hunger quotes can help us to
understand what others think about this heartbreaking subject. Perhaps in understanding, a workable
solution will be found and hunger will be a thing of the past.
The ever more sophisticated weapons piling up in the arsenals of the wealthiest and the mightiest can
kill the illiterate, the ill, the poor and the hungry, but they cannot kill ignorance, illness, poverty or
hunger. Fidel Castro
While often demonized in the US, Fidel Castro did much work to bring the poorest and the worst off
of people the basics of healthy living. One of the injustices he attempted to right was the starvation of
the poorest of the Cuban people. Castro was a Marxist and a socialist. He believed that each man
woman and child was entitled to the things that make life possible.
The world s wealthiest countries can afford to build weaponry that can wipe entire peoples so that it is
like they never lived. They can throw away the poor, the hungry, the completely disenfranchised
people at the very margins of society. Yet such an approach will do nothing to remove the problems
that economic inequality creates. Only addressing the root issue of inequality will forever solve the
problem.
Further, he believed that if one person had to go without food so that another may feast that something
was indeed wrong with the system. He worked to bring food to everyone on his island and succeeded

Developing The Stormwater Master Plan
Following is a description of the important data and their potential uses in developing the Stormwater
Master Plan:
a) The accuracy and resolution of topographic data that determines the drainage area boundaries,
slopes and flow paths have a significant impact on the quality of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
and flood mapping. The FMC team expects that the high quality topographic data of Freetown,
including the upstream mountainous areas, will be provided by SLRA within a week of the project
inception. A basemap showing ortho rectified aerial imagery will significantly help in ground truthing
and resolving discrepancies in data. Additionally topographic survey will be required to determine the
centerline of existing and proposed storm drain alignment and establish vertical and horizontal
geometric characteristic of the urban storm water drainages and structures, centerlines and cross
sections.
b) Geographic coordinates of significant features on or adjacent to the urban storm water drainages
and structures, including buildings, markets and roads will be required. It is assumed that such GIS
data are readily available to support the development of the Master Plan.
c) Assuming the long term rainfall data are readily available from the Meteorological Office, all
rainfall records from local rain gauges will be compiled. The rainfall data should have a time interval
of one hour or less. The rainfall records will be used as input to the model and to determine the peak
flows

The Rocking Horse Winner, By D. H. Lawrence
In literature, a symbol suggests that there is more meaning than what it appears to be. In the short
story The Rocking Horse Winner, D.H Lawrence uses many symbols that relate to the story s theme
and lets readers apply this to their daily lives. Symbols such as the whispering house, the rocking
horse, and money allude to a deeper truth found in the text. The story not only relates to the emotional
toils Paul s family encounters, but also brings awareness to the realistic run ins the world faces today.
The Rocking Horse Winner is a tragic tale about an overly materialistic mother who is compulsive
about money. She feels no instinctual love for her children and as a result, her son Paul attempts to
earn her love. The word money is an echo throughout the story. Representing obsession, greed, and
despair, the loss of an ideal family and the lack of value for her children, is the major theme of the
story. The family of five s house is described as a pleasant garden home, made up of valuables, and
also has servants. The house itself has a repeat of There must be more money! There must be more
money! Symbolizing that their humble abode is not truly a home, the pleas of greed relate to the
mother s materialism and lack of nurture. As the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Symbolically, the rocking of the horse could represent the parallels of life and death/ God s
intervention. It continues to rock back and forth between hope and reality. Taking care of his children,

belief and in many stories of biblical text show selfishness and corruption when an individual is

The Importance Of Social Work
A movie that one would watch and not immediately think social work, would be X Men: First Class.
At first glance, it is a simple action movie about mutants with inhuman powers, but upon further
inspection, social work concepts are bound to shine through. One concept in particular that becomes a
crucial plot point in the movie is ethics. Such a concept leads to a connection between the movie and
the ethical principles in social work that can be seen in the characters interactions with the main
character throughout the film. The main character in the film, Charles Xavier, or Professor X, becomes
a type of spiritual teacher for the group of mutants in the film. Xavier acts as somewhat of a social
worker through his efforts to get the group of mutants to learn to control their powers (Donner,
Goodman, Kinberg, Singer Vaughn, 2011). The first social work term demonstrated would be
acceptance. Acceptance is to treat clients in a humane and considerate manner (DuBois Miley, 2014,
p. 120). Xavier first displays his acceptance of the mutants by complementing their inhuman skills.
Whilst working with a mutant named Banshee, Xavier reacts to Banshee s ability to scream at a
frequency high enough to break any glass by exclaiming, What you re doing is incredible! (Donner et
al., 2011). Words like these portray an accepting attitude that is a vital part of ethical social work
practice. Xavier also utilizes the principle of individualization. Individualization is the

Royal Rumble Match Research Paper Royal Rumble Match: Randy Orton wins the Royal Rumble eliminating Roman Reigns The Viper is back in the main event picture after winning a fun Royal Rumble with a number of amazing moments. From Jack Gallagher jumping off the top with an open umbrella, Baron Corbin shockingly eliminating Braun Strowman, Luke Harper turning on Bray Wyatt, Lesnar getting eliminated by Goldberg in quick fashion, to the Goldberg/Undertaker confrontation, what the match lacked in surprise entrants was made up for in theatrics. Once the match got down to the final four of Orton, Wyatt, Jericho, Reigns, Jericho was the first to go via Reigns Superman Punch, followed by Wyatt being eliminated by Reigns. Informative Research Papers Clinical Question: In veterans with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), does quetiapine monotherapy compared to placebo improve symptoms with tolerable adverse reactions? Search Strategy: A PubMed search was conducted to locate primary literature on the use of quetiapine as monotherapy in veterans with PTSD. Search terms used were quetiapine , monotherapy and PTSD to ensure appropriate studies were retrieved by the search. Rationale for Selection of Literature: The literature selected must addresses the use of quetiapine as monotherapy for PTSD. At the end, the dose ranged from 50 to 800mg daily with an average of 258mg daily for the quetiapine arm (1). Other psychotropic medications may not be used during the study except rescue mediations during the first 2 weeks including chloral hydrae for insomnia or agitation and lorazepam for anxiety or agitation (1). Participants were followed up during week 1, 2, 4, 8 and 12 for evaluation (1). The primary outcome was the total Clinician Administered PTSD Scale (CAPS) score which the quetiapine arm had a greater reduction of score (75.40 to 53.85) than placebo arm (70.60 to 65.66) after 12 weeks with p=0.02 (1). For secondary outcomes, quetiapine arm also had higher reduction in CAPS re experiencing score, CAPS hyperarousal score, Davidson Trauma Scale and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAM D) scores than the placebo arm at the end (1). The first story I chose involved with two siblings that have something wrong with them. The brother who has a mental illness which leads to the suffering of fear and anxiety, as well as having a morbid acuteness of the senses. The Purloined Letter tells about how the queen got her letter stolen by Minister D, and yet Dupin stole that Minister D s letter who replaced the stolen letter with a fake one. The Murders in the Rue Morgue tells about how Dupin solves the murders of two people with a daughter s throat cut then being stuffed up a chimney and the mother was strangled then thrown out a window. The few people that would be different about death could be avoiding the thought of death or they are not aware of the feeling about becoming closer to death. People would do more positive things to leave their mark, so thinking of death would drive others to do good. The other part of the people who think of negative things will believe that death will have a terrible outcome. The only character I believe would act the closest to actual people would be Dupin. Dupin copes with death by reading books and he does more good if he solves the impossible which leaves his mark on the world. • 6. Reasons Why Student Athletes Should Not Be Paid For... Division 1 and Division 2 colleges provide over 2.9 billion dollars a year in scholarships to student athletes. Student athletes should not be compensated for participating in college sports. College athletes can receive full ride scholarships for playing their sport of choice. Is the 40,000 dollars they are receiving in scholarships not compensation; thus prompting the question is the top tier education they are being provided with, not compensation enough? Most of the thousands of students that participate in college sports compete for the love of the game, not for a paycheck. Furthermore, college athletes understand that they may not compete at the pro level, in fact, only 2 % of college athletes go on to play professionally. The main part of the term student athletes is student. Students do not go to college expecting a check at the end of every month or to land a spot in the first round of the draft, instead the purpose is to receive an education. All things considered, student athletes should not receive compensation for playing sports in college because it would be almost financially impossible, some are already provided with money from scholarships , and finally they are being provided with an excellent higher education. Some say colleges should pay athletes because it s a full time job, scholarships aren t enough, not all players get scholarships or because the NCAA and universities make money off of the sports teams and players. • 8. Neuman Systems Model Neuman systems model. The NSM identifies that any system has boundaries meant to protect a single client, family, or social issue within the system (Neuman Fawcett, 2011). The model is dynamic with a continuum of variables that influence the stability of the system. The influence, such as stressors, can alter the system or restore the system. A principle of the NSM is optimal wellness represented as the greatest degree of system stability (Neuman Fawcett, 2011). The NSM theory asserts nursing to care for a complex systsem, requiring an approach to assimilate and adapt into the system. The NSM utilizes the internal and external cues of the environment to influence the system. The nature of the system determines the complexity of the system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... NSM depicts stress and reaction to the stability of stress on the system. A patient and/or family reaction to the transition from oncology care to hypervigilance in primary care can experience stress, most often as psychological distress. The repeated cyclical nature of the response to the stresses of changed home life, family functioning, body image, handling daily activities, or connecting with a support group changes the client. The ideal of NSM is to attain optimal stability and reach a new developmental level (Neuman Fawcett, 2011). NSM fits the need of the PICO project through the interpretation of concepts and the dynamic nature of stressors and reactions to the basic structure (patient and/or family). A key component in utilization of the NSM for screening psychological distress after oncology care, is self report of the instability of transition to a new lifestyle. Cancer related psychological distress is widespread (Hoffman, 2012). The distress can remain hidden as priorities in cancer rehabilitation and family adjustment take place. The initial stressor of the cancer diagnosis creates a change in the patient and/or family (basic structure functioning and energy resources), however after cancer treatment (variables), the client system (patient and/or family) still is adjusting to change (lines of resistance). There was also a boat schedule for leaving Alcatraz and some magazines telling how to tie and untie a boat from a dock and how a boat enters and exits a slip. These were found on Frank Morris s desk. The theory is that they came up under the boat dock, went under the water and tied the electrical cord to the scaling up by the rudder. Then fed the cord all the way around the dock so when the prison launch was coming out of the slip they would be able to position the raft, so it would be pulled out toward the mainland. • 10. Effectiveness Of School Lunch And Nutritional Policies Essay Youth between the ages of 5 and 18 consume up to nearly half of their daily nourishment in the school setting (Gosliner et al, 2011, p. 146). With such a significant number as nearly half, it has become key that students receive the correct nourishment from the school lunches provided to them. Parents and students argue that school lunch and nutritional policies have overstepped their boundaries; however, the schools and institutions feel the need to enforce and support the policies, stating they are improving the child s health. The identification of each side s arguments is key to finding the effectiveness of school lunch and nutritional policies and to find out if they are actually working to help make students healthier and better educated about their diets. The effectiveness of nutritional policies can be seen in the education of the students about their diets. Many students have the mindset that a food is good for their health, which is only half the fight. This first half is explained in a study done by the University of California, Berkeley: Overall, students rated fresh fruit as the most important item to be able to by at school (69% responded important or very important), followed by sports drinks (63%), green salad (55%), and other vegetables (53%) (Gosliner et al, 2011, p. 148). The fact that students are able to know that these foods are healthy shows that the nutritional policies are doing their job; the policies are working to shape a student s diet ... The way that the Islamic religion is now is much different than it was in the past based on the Quran. During the times we studied in class, the Muslims were very obeying of their ruler and their religion. An example of proper loyalty shown by the Muslims is during the crusades. In today s society, people continue to break the rules of the Quran through terrorism. Terrorist groups like Al Qaeda and Isis are two examples of Islamic terrorist organizations. Since the time we studied in class, the Islamic religion has turned to a much more violent religion The Quran is the most sacred document to the Islamic people and basically tells them the way that they need to live. The Quran forces Islamic people to obey the Five Pillars of Faith . These pillars include declaring the creed, which is There is no god but God, and Muhammad is his Prophet. They also have to pray five times a day facing the sacred city of Mecca, give alms to the poor in the community, fast each day during the month of Ramadan (the ninth month of the year), and make a hajj, which is a pilgrimage to Mecca once in their lifetime (Spodek 348). • 12. Solomon Asch Conformity Study In 1951, Solomon Asch, a gestalt psychologist conducted an experiment regarding conformity. In this experiment, Asch tested how an individual can be influenced by a group of people and their views. Even though the test wasn t extremely crucial. The purpose was to measure how likely individuals in this society are to conform to the majority. Throughout the experiment, Asch saw how an individual responded based on the answers of the group. With this, he was able to demonstrate how likely we are to conform when there is group pressure. In this experiment, Asch conducted a lab to test the conformity of the participants. All fifty of the participants were males and students from a college in the United States. To be able to identify the percentage of individuals that could conform to the thoughts and ideas of the majority, Asch had to deceive the participants. The experiment involved seven confederates, most of them had agreed on what they were going to say before the experiment unlike the real participant. In each of the trials, both the participants and the confederates were shown cards one would be a single line, while the other was a card with a set of lines. The participants and the confederates were to pick a line that looked like the single line on the other card. However, the participant would usually be the second to last to answer. Asch ... There cannot be peace between nations until there is peace between the two halves of humanity, the mothers and fathers of all living and all yet to live. Steinem sees a connection between what we have chosen to normalize in male female relations, and what we see at the level of state and society. The family is the basic cell of the government, she explains, it is where we are trained to believe that we are human beings or that we are chattel, it is where we are trained to see the sex and race divisions and become callous to injustice even if it is done to ourselves, to accept as biological a full system of authoritarian government. Truly, it should not come as a surprise to us that societies which are rooted in male dominance over females are in no way peaceful or democratic; as noted by Steinem. We are never going to have democratic countries or peaceful countries until we have democratic or peaceful families because you must teach men to dominate in order to maintain a male dominated system and that is a very ugly education, indeed, where the first to be dominated are those within men s own families who are different from them Domestic violence is the seedbed of all other violence based on ... My Observation At The Landlord And Tenant Supervisor Introduction: This report is based on my observation at the Landlord and Tenant Board which is located 3 Robert Speck Parkway Suite 520 Mississauga, Ontario L47 2G5 on Tuesday, January 26th, 2016 and Wednesday, January 27th, 2016. Throughout the day at the Landlord and Tenant Board we had observed many different cases. In terms of location, the office building was in close juxtaposition to a public bus stop that had a route that lead directly from Brampton. The bus schedule conveniently operated every 9 minutes. There were two Brampton busses that lead into the location, the 502 and the 103. The bus was convenient and reliable however if you are going everyday it will become very costly. If you are a tenant with a car it is simple to drive from Brampton to Mississauga. The parking is conveniently in front of the building, but there is a cost for parking; for the whole day $7.00, for an hour $5.25, for 40 minutes $3.50 and for 20 minutes $1.75. As for the parking, it is convenient to have your own source of transportation nonetheless it is quite costly. When you walk into the building there is a front desk with a security guard able to direct you to the floor you need to go to. The Landlord and Tenant Board is located on the 5th floor, the Board Office has five separate cubicles with secretaries able to help you with various questions. • 15. Homelessness And Its Effects On Society It s time to declare a war on homelessness, which is evolving into a crisis, proclaimed Mayor Kirk Caldwell in The Honolulu Star Advertiser. (Katel, 841 864) Homelessness has become a widely known issue in the United States. Many people today are living in the streets without a source of food, water, or a place to sleep at night. Some who are among the homeless include the elderly, children, and those who are mentally ill. This is a cause for concern for citizens who are living their daily lives. Some people express their fear of homeless persons, believing that they are just beggars for money and take up space on the streets. Although the description homeless people is not always true, homelessness does affect society and puts the future generation at risk of becoming homeless as well. People need to bring attention to the homeless problem across the United States so action can be taken and change will take place. Homelessness can be divided into two groups: people who are homeless, and those who are chronically homeless. According to The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), homelessness includes those who are living in dwellings unfit for human habitation, in emergency shelters or temporary housing, and/or leaving such a place. • 17. Example Of Social Identity Theory Few people are going to openly admit to being prejudice against people of other races, gender, and religions. However that doesn t stop many of us from having unintentional racist thoughts. In 1979, Henri Tajfel, a social psychologist, proposed that the groups which people belonged to are an important source of pride and self esteem. Groups give us a sense of social identity: a sense of belonging to the social world. This ideal of categorizing and subconsciously labeling ourselves is better known as Social Identity Theory . Tajfel continues by saying In order to increase our self image we enhance the status of the group to which we belong. For example, England is the best country in the world! We can also increase our self image by discriminating and holding prejudice views against the out group (the group we don t belong to). For example, the Americans, French etc. are a bunch of losers! Therefore, we divided the world into them and us based through a process of social categorization (i.e. we put people into social groups). This is known as in group (us) and out group (them). Social identity theory states that the in group will discriminate against the out group to enhance their self image. We all unintentionally discriminate against others that are in the out group , and by doing this we are excluding ourselves from certain religions, cultures, races, and even genders. This ideal of labeling ourselves can be traced back to childhood and factors such as where we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. The Performance Of Tone Mapping 3 PREVIOUS WORK Because of the great interest of HDR images and their advantages, tone mapping techniques are used to display these images on LDR devices. Many researchers made different studies for evaluating the performance of tone mapping algorithms. Debevec and Malik proposed that a HDR image can be created from three or more LDR images of the same scene under different exposures. Through technological advances and the development of photograph technology, we can get access to HDR cameras which can take HDR photos and videos directly now. Therefore, there is an increasing demand for tone mapping algorithms. There are two types of tone mapping algorithm: global operators and local operators. The global tone mapping methods are simply mapped the input HDR image I^h (x,y) to an output LDR image I^l (x,y) = f (I^h (x,y)) , where f () is a global compression function which is spatially invariant, such as gamma function, linear function, histogram based function and the function adapted to tone reproduction curves. Hence, the local tone mapping methods decompose the input HDR image into multiple layers or areas, apply different compressing algorithm in different layers or areas and recombine all the layers or areas into a LDR image. Similar with Durand, Farbman which segmented the HDR image into two layer a base layer and a detail layer, while the base layer is obtained by applying an alternative edge reserving smoothing operator and the detail layer is obtained by ... Anything that can induce a significant disturbance in homeostasis is the stressor that can be either chronic or acute depending on it s duration. This in term can cause the body to response in certain ways to adapt to the stress but at certain time when the stress prolongs an individual can enter a stage of exhaustion where upon the body can no longer adapt to the stress thus can cause deleterious effects on learning and memory. Certain spatial learning memory tasks such as water maze performance may be impaired due to the exposure of stress. This experiments indicate that exposure to social insabilty stress only impaired long term spatial memory and not short term spatial memory in the morris water maze. This current study after rats were exposed to the stress were placed back into their housing with another rat that was also exposed to the stress procedure but exposure the rat may be some sort of coping mechanism for the rats and that might be as to why the stress didn t effect short term spatial memory in the morris water maze. As well this study is focusing on social stress by isolating the rats but by exposing them to another rat in the same housing they were before exposure to the stress may make the rats bond as they both were exposed to the stress which could mitigate the prior stress exposure. In addition short term memory might not have been effected due to stresses ability to effect distinct memory systems ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Essay on Helling V. Carey 1. Introduction Rarely any physician intends to harm patients when he or she provides treatment to them. Patients see physicians and specialists in full faith that they will get help with a condition. What complicates the patient doctor relationship is that the outcome of each patient s treatment is different because of individual health conditions and the course of treatment chosen by the doctor. Problems arise when a patient is not satisfied with care provided by the doctor or in extreme cases when a patient dies. Since most of the time it is hard to clearly determine whether the outcome was solely a result of the course of treatment chosen by the doctor or whether other factors played a role too, quite often patients take their ... Mrs. Helling filed a lawsuit against her ophthalmologist but during the trial the court ruled in favor of the defendants arguing that in ophthalmology it was not a standard of profession to perform routine glaucoma tests in patients under forty years of age. It is important to note here that the standards of the profession did require performing pressure tests if the patient s complaints and symptoms indicated that the patient may be suffering from glaucoma. The defendants argument was that the test was given thirty days after the patients first complained of visual field problems. The jury decided in favor of the defendants and the court ruled accordingly. The Court of Appeals affirmed the lower court s decision at which point the plaintiff petitioned for a review of the case. On appeal the Supreme Court of Washington reversed the judgment and ruled for the plaintiff stating that the defendants were negligent in not having administered the test at a time when the disease could have been prevented (LexisNexis, Helling v. Carey). The court s decision was largely based on the argument that the test was simple and inexpensive and should have been administered considering the severity of the injury that resulted from the failure to give it. As suggested by Meltzer in the New England Law Review, two explanations to the decision in Helling are possible. First, that the court intended to abrogate the privilege of the ... The Japanese are close and united, and willing to help each other, to the point that they would even risk their lives for one another. Their culture has certain aspects of it that every nation should have. In his book, John Hersey explores the effects that culture and environment have on an individual s views and belief through analyzing a stereotypical Japanese man, an Americanized Japanese priest, and a widowed Japanese woman and how they react similarly to the bombing of Hiroshima. The influence of Japanese culture has an astounding impact on the reactions of Hersey s characters. Throughout his writing, Hersey s story reveals the effects of the Japanese culture on the people after the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. After the bomb was dropped, it was not everyone for themselves but rather, the opposite. People came together to help the wounded, and since so many were hurt and there wasn t enough first responders, everyone was willing to help one another. This wasdue to the Japanese culture and how close it makes everyone. Unlike Americans, the Japanese are not selfish. The article specifies that two direct ways that kids are hurt is through family cohesion and subjective well being. Family cohesion, in this article, is defined as the connections between family members that each family has, while subjective well being talks about people s understanding of the life they live and how they react to everyday situations and how all that effects their emotional and cognitive mind. It was not until 1996, did the final residential school close down. It took over a hundred years of physical, physiological, and the sexual abuse of thousands of children before residential schools existed no more. Although they do not exist anymore, residential schools continue to cause pain throughout First Nations communities. There are a variety of novels that describe the accounts of residential school survivors, both fiction and non fiction, each powerful in their own way. Indian Horse, a novel by Richard Wagamese, is one of these novels. The book follows Saul Indian Horse, a boy of Ojibwe descent, and his experiences within St. Jerome s Indian Residential School. One of the injustices he attempted to right was the starvation of the poorest of the Cuban people. Castro was a Marxist and a socialist. Symbols such as the whispering house, the rocking horse, and money allude to a deeper truth found in the text. At first glance, it is a simple action movie about mutants with inhuman powers, but upon further inspection, social work concepts are bound to shine through. One concept in particular that becomes a crucial plot point in the movie is ethics. Such a concept leads to a connection between the movie and the ethical principles in social work that can be seen in the characters interactions with the main character throughout the film. The main character in the film, Charles Xavier, or Professor X, becomes a type of spiritual teacher for the group of mutants in the film. Xavier acts as somewhat of a social worker through his efforts to get the group of mutants to learn to control their powers (Donner, Goodman, Kinberg, Singer Vaughn, 2011). The first social work term demonstrated would be acceptance. Acceptance is to treat clients in a humane and considerate manner (DuBois Miley, 2014, p. 120). Xavier first displays his acceptance of the mutants by complementing their inhuman skills. Whilst working with a mutant named Banshee, Xavier reacts to Banshee s ability to scream at a frequency high enough to break any glass by exclaiming, What you re doing is incredible!
