Pro evolution: Why? Creation versus evolution is a highly argumentative topic, especially in today s
society. A recent debate, between Bill Nye The Science Guy and Ken Ham, has sparked even more
controversy over this particular topic. A poll administered by Gallup shows that forty six percent of
Americans believe God created humans as they are now ten thousand years ago, and that the only
reliable dating system is the Word of God (Lovan 1). Many others believe that humans have evolved
into how they are in present times, and that science, and its ways of dating things, is reliable and

would benefit the economy more than instituting tariffs and non tariff trade barriers. However, the
reality is quite different. Politically, tariffs help to strike a balance between social welfare and the
politicians goals. One theory is that campaign contributions are needed for re election; and to achieve
these funds, politicians will weigh this need against welfare reducing protection for industry lobbyists
(Magee, 2011). The models would suggest that the tariffs should actually be much higher than they are
due to the low efficiency cost of tariffs compared to the substantial gains provided for the producers
(Magee, 2011). However, developed countries actually have very low tariffs. There are six possible
explanations for why developed countries have such low tariffs when the political theories behind why
we have tariffs at all would suggest they should be higher.

to the current two party system. However, some ideologies remain the same such as moral stance, and
socioeconomic status. Other ideologies like economic view and stance on government power have

remember that even though these two parties are completely different, they originated from the same
party with one main goal; To create a government that is run for and by its people (Mayne, 23). I have
still not developed a political identity, but over the past three years of my residence in the United

Anne has completely crossed over. She has a necklace of human tongues, which is crazy weird.
However, Mary Anne is still wearing her culottes and her pink sweater, the very pieces of clothing that
made her appear so American at the beginning of the story. The reason for Mary Anne s change is not
because of the Vietnamese or even Vietnam, even though it appeared to be at the beginning. It s the

by Jennifer Egan both perpetuate this idea of women as submissive. Egan presents female characters
who only exist in the context of men, thus leaving them to be seen as inferior to the men. These tropes
of women in literature, and Egan s use of them, fit into the larger conversation: there is a degradation
of women in literature due to common conceptions of women in society.
Egan presents multiple female characters in Ask Me if I Care . The short story touches on a group of
friends, and in this group are the two characters of Rhea and Jocelyn both female. While they may
seem to be presented differently, Rhea as a not interested in being sexualized character and Jocelyn as
a sexualizes herself character, both ultimately play into the trope of submissive and degraded women.

There has always been a considerable debate over many of the developmental areas for early
childhood, however throughout this essay it is going to discuss the roles of Nature versus Nurture in
children s language development. Language development can be understood by in which the way
children will learn to communicate language in early childhood. Nature and nurture both play vital
roles for learning language in young children, as it is fundamental skill to learn language. Thames and
York s (2004, p. 603) reference states there are a range of factors that are involved in developing
literacy; suggesting that both nature and nurture contribute together in language development. To dig a
little deeper, we need to understand that there are four main components to language development:
Phonology, Syntax, Semantics and Pragmatics. The nature nurture debate can be asked in two
questions. First, do children learn and acquire language through a prewired section that s built into
their brains from birth? Or secondly, do children learn language through the participation in their
environment? (Berk, 2013, p. 359) Language is an important skill that children acquire, as it s the key
to communicating, learning and thinking. Children will develop in all developmental areas through
play experiences, observing, interacting with others while mimicking some of these actions, this refers
