Delivery Drones Research Papers
Delivery Drones Imagine that you are eating breakfast and accidently spill coffee on your tie. You
have an important meeting in less than one hour and you do not have time to go to the store to buy a
new one. You pull out your phone and tap on the screen a few times; you have just ordered a tie
online. Thirty minutes later, you walk outside and take a package from underneath a drone. Inside the
package is the tie you had ordered. You quickly put on the tie and make it to the meeting on time.
Many people experience problems where a certain item is needed quickly, but they do not have the
time to go and buy it at a store. This is where delivery drones can play a major role. Although believed
to be dangerous and difficult to regulate, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One common argument against delivery drones is that they can invade privacy. The autonomy of
drones requires cameras, which many people think can be used to spy on people (Elzweig 173).
However, major companies that would utilize drones already have many peoples personal information
and have not done anything bad with them. Therefore, the pictures or videos from the cameras on
drones would most likely not be used to harm people.
Another argument that is made against delivery drones is that there is too much regulation from the
government (Stark 26). Right now, the FAA, or Federal Aviation Administration, has a rule that
autonomous drones cannot fly over highly populated areas (Peck 40). Another rule is that the drones
cannot fly in a large range (Peck 40). While rules like this are in place right now, the rules will almost
definitely change to fit with evolving technology. Therefore, regulations that are in place today will
probably not be in place in the

Corner Of Bitter And Sweet
I am going to be reflecting on the book Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet in this essay. I
definitely enjoyed this book because of the story being told and the way it transitions chapter to
chapter between old Henry and young Henry. I also am myself very interested in the World War 2 era
in history and it is very interesting to see the war from a Chinese or Japanese Americans perspective
as opposed to an only American perspective. (On page 12) I don t like that Henry s parents make him
speak in only English, especially because Henry s parents don t (for the most part) know how to speak
English. I would understand if Henry s parents made him speak only English in public, but I think he
should be able to speak in Cantonese to his parents. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I also think the way Henry describes this is great because, in a way it might not be old news, it might
just be that people are not talking about because of fear or sadness because old news is also something
that people don t talk about. Henry woke to the sound of a police cruiser (Page 61) I don t like that this
young boy has to wake up the sound of police sirens. Usually, young boys wake up to toys or a pet to
play with but not Henry today. Even for a boy of Henry s age, it would be scary to wake up to sirens. I
would be scared today at the age of fifteen to wake up to sirens. I ll be here where am I going to go
(Page 164) I think it is very sad that Henry has to see his friend like this locked up in a cage like an
animal or criminal. A twelve year old boy should not have to deal with such an experience in his
young life. In closing, I think the book is awesome and I really enjoyed reading it. The dialogue was
writing amazingly and the characters traits and beliefs were on key. I also really enjoyed the
relationships between Henry and Keiko as well as the relationship between Henry and his

English Essay We Are Virginia Tech
We Are Virginia Tech Speaking is form of art that can either be a natural gift or a practiced talent.
Much like there are several different ways a person can draw: cartooning, free hand, or realistic, there
are many ways in which a person can speak. Nikki Giovanni s speech We Are Virginia Tech makes
people cry, rejoice, and move on. A speech is one form of art that can evoke these types of emotions
from people. In Nikki Giovanni s poem We Are Virginia Tech, which was spoken at a memorial
ceremony for Virginia Tech shooting victims, she uses her tone and a repetition of words to make her
speech very powerful. The tone of her voice is very distinct, she speaks with poise and confidence,
while remaining remorseful but positive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People in the audience who lost close loved ones in this disaster may not think the other worldly
tragedies Giovanni describes are of the same magnitude as this. For others though these images she
gives may help them connect with the loss some are experiencing. Speeches can affect people in
different ways, some speeches will inspire you, others will make you reflect on your own life, some
will teach you a life lesson, but Nikki Giovanni s poem was meant to bring together a group of
disheartened people. Giovanni s speech did not affect me as intensely as it did to the families of the
victims who actually saw her give the speech. Similar to whether you are seeing a photo of a piece of
artwork or seeing it in person, seeing or hearing a recording of a speech it will affect you differently.
Sontag says, real art has the capacity to make us nervous (Sontag 759). This speech is meant to bring
out the sadness, but also the hope for a better future that people are feeling. Preston Risser said, her
poem brought out the hurt people were feeling and brought awareness to the situation at hand. As seen
in the video people are either crying after she is finished, or standing up with a newfound inspiration
to stand tall and put this tragedy in the past. The way a piece of art might make you feel does not have
to be displayed by some physical expression, it can be an emotion that is kept inside. In relation to

Evaluation Of Employee Performance Appraisal
Q5. What is meant by employee Performance Appraisal? What exactly do you measure or appraise
through performance appraisal process? Specifically discuss the reasons why the authors of your text
are generalizing that Performance Appraisal (PA) in public organizations is highly ineffective and
problematic. a. Employee performance appraisal evaluates an employee s work behavior comparing it
to predetermined well defined set of performance metrics (job related standards). The results are used
to provide feedback to the employee to show where improvements are needed and why they are
needed. These appraisals should/can also be used to assess training needs, promotion potential (retain,

It is not what I want or what I find as an attractive trait or behavior. Items such as character, looks,
race etc. should never be used, why well because they really have nothing to do with an individual s
job behavior. As a manager myself I find it difficult to truly appraise individuals, for many reasons,
one is that not everyone has the same job in my organization, two there are over 80 people that work
in there so remember and playing back all work performance is often a difficult job for the 3
supervisors I have. Moving back on track; performance appraisals should encompass relevant
performance standards and performance criteria in order to measure performance, which as stated in
both the lecture notes and text is an elusive term. c. Specifically discuss the reasons why the authors of
your text are generalizing that Performance Appraisal (PA) in public organizations is highly
ineffective and problematic. The authors in the text generalize PA s in public service are highly
ineffective and problematic for serval reasons such as the fact that about 20% of employees indicate
that the appraisal system motivated them to do a better job. Or that performance management is not
effective in providing specific expectations, useful feedback, engaging and energizing the work force,
or raising levels of employee satisfaction. The authors also list a plethora of paradoxes concerning
PAs. For example one is that employees are less certain or even

The Victorian Era
Art Historian, Daniel Siedell said, In such a society as the Victorians , when public society is so
stifling, steam is naturally going to be driven underground. The reform of the Victorian era, a time in
England of refinement and high decorum surrounding the years of Queen Victoria s reign, did not
produce revolution but the opposite: stagnation. And so at this time in England there were ingredients
present to create a real revolution and bring a dismantling of the Victorian spirit, but they were
underground and silent. Oscar Wilde aimed to bring that underground movement above ground
through flagrancy. Wilde s innovative faith as well as shocking literature were two gears of the same
vehicle. They were gears dependent upon each other to bring anti Victorian aestheticism to the surface
of English society and culture. Oscar Wilde s literary revolt against propriety paralleled his
unconventional view of religion both were a rejection of law and an embrace of beauty.
In as much as Wilde influenced The Victorian era and what came thereafter, the Victorians society in
England was Wilde s environment and the cause of who he was. The era, during and around when
Queen Victoria was on the throne in England, was characterized by what they thought was, revolution.
It was grounded on delicacy, refinement, good words, and all other forms of high decorum that
reflected the prosperous bourgeoisie according to Walter Murdoch, a prominent Australian academic
and essayist (18). In a

Great Political Debates
The Great Political Debate Ben Franklin once said there is only two certainties in life, death and taxes.
Although you may not agree with this statement, it does provide two key topics that are highly
debated amongst parties of the United States democracy. In terms of death, abortion and the death
penalty are debated topics that each party has a different stance on. Those topics are an area of
government that do not have a consensus. When it comes to taxes, every party has general ambitions
on how to treat taxing citizens. Even though there are a multitude of political parties present in politics
today, the only parties that are repeatedly mentioned election after election are the democratic and
republican parties. These two parties usually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The democratic party relates the issue of abortion in a court case called Roe verse Wade. In this court
case, the US Supreme Court affirmed the legality of a woman s right to have an abortion under the
14th amendment. As one can see, depending on how you interpret the 14th amendment determines the
outcome of legality. Since the Supreme Court is the final arbiter of the law, the states must grant the
right to abortion, regardless of being a red state or not. Another democratic view on abortion is that a
woman should never have to fear the ability to pay for an abortion. In the democratic platform for
America in 2004 it stated, we stand proudly for a woman s right to choose, consistent with Roe v.
Wade, and regardless of her ability to pay (Democratic platform). This is in opposition of the
republican view, as republicans do not want health care providers to provide for abortions. The
democratic view is that all women should have access to an abortion, which is most likely going to be
through health care. Overall, one can see that the democratic view on abortion differs from the
republican viewpoint through the interpretation of the 14th amendment and thoughts on paying for

Brazil s President Dilma Rousseff Stalls Betting Legislation
Brazil s President Dilma Rousseff Stalls Betting Legislation
Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff has put a lid on the progress of the 671 2015 legislation that was
expected to offer provisions for the regulated spots betting and fixed odds. The president killed off an
attempt to legalize sports betting by vetoing 36 clauses before signing a bill that was earlier approved
by the country s senate. President Dilma fears that the bill lacks proper mechanisms to prevent
possible social impact. According to Ted Menmuir, the president cited that law makers needed more
time to review the context and framework of the laws. Government ministers have also supported the
presidents sentiments, by stating that legislation 671 2015 was far from perfect, thus needed more time
for assessment so as to help the government understand the impact of licensing sports betting and to
protect consumers.
Over the past decade, online sports betting has exploded globally and in Brazil thanks to the
improvement s in technology and growth of internet to the mass market. Different countries and
territories often exhibit different approaches regarding the legality regulation of gambling, over last
decades, Brazilian authorizes have taken a less proactive and restrictive approach to online gambling.
However, the changes being witnessed at the global marketplace has forced the citizens and
authorities in Brazil to start rethinking their strategies. Although the regulatory environment remains

A Ponzi scheme of this size and magnitude probably won t happen again. The Ponzi has been around

Exchange Commission (SEC) has put several detectors in for the Ponzi scheme. This should be
labeled a white collar crime but should be punished as a blue collar crime. The only to ensure that this
does not happen again is to get rid of all the thieves in the world. That will be difficult task. A Ponzi

The Atheist Argument From Evil Essay
Have you ever encountered something and said to yourself Why me? Or have you wondered Why do
so many people lose their lives to murders or accidents? There is so much suffering in this world that
we hear about, including rapes, war, genocide, or natural disasters. Every person has different disasters
and oftentimes we cannot come up with a possible reason these happen to us. This thought has led
some philosophers, such as William Rowe, to believe that God does not exist. Although there are some
logical possible reasons God permits evil, it seem unlikely that there are logical reasons for the huge
amount of suffering the world experiences. The large amount of suffering seems to suggest that there
is no God rather than an inactive one. The atheist argument from evil goes as follows:
There exist horrendous evils that an all powerful, all knowing, perfectly good being would have no
justifying reason to permit.
An all powerful, all knowing, perfectly good being would not permit an evil unless he had a justifying
reason to permit it.
Therefore, God does not exist.
According to William Rowe, some evils may serve a greater good, such as free will. However, there
are other evils that seem to serve no greater good, such as natural evils that include cancer or
tornadoes that kill millions of people and other creatures every year. One example that Rowe provides
is the following: A fawn is horribly burned in a forest fire caused by lightning. It lies on the forest

Short, Long And Sentence Length
The issue of sentence length leaves many writers scratching their heads. Short, long, medium length
sentences which are better? Does it make a difference? Why should we pay attention to sentence
length anyway?
For one, it adds as much meaning to a text as the words you choose. Sentence length conveys a
specific mood and rhythm and matches the actions being described. For example, if you were writing
a tense car race, shorter sentences may help heighten the suspense of the scene. On the other hand,
longer sentences may work better when writing about complex philosophical abstractions.

Puritan Society In The Scarlet Letter By Nathaniel Hawthorne
In the Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne harshly criticizes Puritan society. From hypocrisy to
forgiveness, Hawthorne uses hidden messages and motifs to express his criticism of society and to
spread his messages. A social judgement explored by Hawthorne is that a majority perspective stifles
individuality.
Dimmesdale best exemplifies the social judgement presented in the novel. Puritanical society s ideals
suppress Dimmesdale s desire to come out as a sinner because he has a status he isn t willing to give
up. Public humiliation for sins was prominent in puritanical times and people wanted to avoid it at all
costs. However, in his attempts to preserve his reputation and hide his identity, he deteriorates his

Hawthorne explores the motif of good versus evil in The Scarlet Letter, and it is a classic motif present
in the famous story of Adam and Eve. The opening scene presents Hester on the scaffold, receiving
the punishment of a scarlet letter A . Her community describes her as sinful by nature, which was a
common description of women during puritanical times. By the first scene, Hester can be scene as a
parallel to Eve. Hester is perceived as sinful while standing on the scaffold, just as Eve was after
eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil before Adam had. Hester s banishment is
also similar to Eve s, both mentally and physically. Hester and Eve must face confrontation with a
judgmental figure and experience banishment from a society in which they had lived. Arthur
Dimmesdale, a religious leader in the novel, exhibits traits of Adam in Adam and Eve. Unlike Hester,
Dimmesdale decides to conceal his secret for seven years due to his need to preserve his reputation.
Dimmesdale parallels Adam because just as Adam hid his sin from God, Dimmesdale hid his sin from
his society. Adam is discovered by God after trying to hide, but confesses to God that he had eaten the
forbidden fruit. While Dimmesdale does confess his sin, he does it to a different kind

Essay On Bubble Wrap
Data Analysis The question was What kind of bubble wrap would protect an egg the best. A
hypothesis sprouted out of the question: If the 195 bubble wrap (which had the largest bubbles) is used
then the egg will be the most protected. This experiment was done on December 30, 2016. The
independent variable for this experiment was the type of bubble wrap used to wrap the eggs. The
dependent variable is whether or not the egg cracked. Whether or not the egg cracked was affected by
how well it was protected. Some of the control variables that are in the experiment are, the height the
eggs are dropped at. The brand of eggs used is another control variable. The control group were the
eggs that were not wrapped in any bubble wrap. To conduct this experiment one egg was wrapped in
one of the sizes of bubble wrap. The bubble wrap had a length of 81.28 cm., and a width of 19.28 cm.
After the egg was completely wrapped it was dropped from a height of 1.7 meters. These steps were
repeated three times for every kind of bubble wrap used. All the type of bubble wrap protected at least
one egg. However 195 (or 2.52 cm.) bubble wrap protected the ... Show more content on

The dependent variable is caused by the independent variable. The bubble wrap is what protected
some of the eggs. Without any bubble wrap the eggs were most likely going to crack. The bubble wrap
with 195 bubbles on it protected all three eggs the best. The reason why it did is because this bubble
wrap had the most air in the bubbles. The reason why this makes a difference is because the more air
that is in the bubbles the egg has more of a cushion like landing. The bubbles are taller than the rest of
the bubble wrap types could also have protected the egg more. With taller bubbles this bubble wrap
would keep the egg farther away from the hard ground. The hypothesis of this experiment was

Imagery Throughout History Has Been A Big Factor In Creating
Imagery throughout history has been a big factor in creating social norms and acts as a site of conflict.
Throughout time, we have used art pieces such as stories, mythology, paintings and movies as a way
of conflict, to get a point across, or to tell a story. A big theme presented over time has been the
ideologies of women and their role. Through time, we are able to see the way in which the roles of a
female has been continuously constructed and reconstructed over and over again. This paper will look
at the portrayal of femme fatale throughout history showing the lack of progression when it comes to
gender stereotypes.
The femme fatale is a mysterious, seductive woman who lures men into dangerous or compromising
situations, attracting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These characteristics are even present in the story of Adam and Eve. In fact, characteristics drawn
from biblical contexts seem to be very prominent. It is through these images of a woman that first
create these gender stereotypes. As we go on, it will be seen that different pieces of work allow
maintaining and further reinforcing the stereotype of the femme fatale. The story of Adam and Eve is
perhaps the first example of a femme fatale. Eve the first woman on earth, created from a man s rib as
a gift to Adam from god. Eve sought the Tree of Knowledge and as the story goes, bit into the apple in
the Garden of Eden, letting all evil into the world. Eve brought about the fall of mankind and
introduced things such as sin and death. She was tempted by the serpent and further, tempts Adam

Another popular example is taken from Jewish tradition. The very popular Lilith is also associated

Lilith shows up as a naked lady to seduce husbands who otherwise are reasonable husbands. Lilith s

Essay about Believing in the Paranormal
A ghost, according to the article History of Ghosts on History.com, is a person s spirit once it has
separated itself from the body after death. Also known as specters, ghosts continue existing even after
the heart stops and the corpse is cold, and they fall under the category of paranormal phenomena.
When something is considered paranormal, it simply means that science has no explanation for it. So
if science can t explain it, it can t be real, right? Not necessarily. It just means that it hasn t been
proven a fact, it s all in theory. But Jack Porter makes a valid point in his article, The Study of
Paranormal Phenomenon is a Legitimate Science , when he says, It is important to remember the Big

Faint whispering and laughing, along with having their blankets yanked from their bed and harsh slaps
and pinches. It wasn t until 1820, when John Bell died, that the events began to die down, but even to
this day the Bell family descendents say that mysterious things happen inside the old home. There
have even been reports of ghosts of historical figures as well. One of the most frequently reported
dates back to the 16th century. Mother of Queen Elizabeth I and wife to King Henry VIII, Anne
Boleyn was executed at the Tower of London in 1536 after being accused of witchcraft, treason,
adultery and incest. There have been sightings of the woman s ghost reported at the tower and other
locations such as her home, Hever Castle in Kent. (History.com) Then there s the White House in the
United States. Considered to be perhaps the most haunted house in America, there has been several
reported phenomenons, many of them believed to be sightings of past presidents of the United States.
Mary Todd Lincoln, wife of Abraham Lincoln, believed strongly in the occult and often held seances
in order to communicate with her sons. She had told friends she had heard former president Andrew
Jackson stomping and swearing through the halls of the presidential residence. Jackson s bedchamber,
also know as the Rose Room, is said to be one of the most haunted rooms in the White House. But he

Critical Points Of Current Knowledge
Review of Literature
A literature review is a text written by various authors to consider the critical points of current
knowledge including substantive findings, as well as theoretical and methodological contributions to a
particular topic. For any research work it is utmost important to create necessary theoretical
background. For this researcher mainly relied on the secondary information available in research
papers, books, business magazines, newspapers, survey reports of different companies etc. This
referring also helped in bringing about coherence in overall understanding of the area of study. In this
context a literature review through many international and national journals, books, magazines and

Mary Nesbitt and John Lavine in their research paper on Reinventing the Newspaper for Young Adults
in 2012 in their Research has shown that intensive implementation of the Readership Institute s
experience research can produce positive outcomes with a crucial audience. When given a choice
between traditional Newspaper and ad E paper content that has been intentionally chosen and
presented to improve their reading experience, young adult readers clearly and strongly prefer the
Traditional Newspaper. It was clear that there are many definite reasons to choose Traditional
Newspaper. Now its a time for newspapers and publishing houses to develop and test a variety of
approaches and use those experiences to increase the Readership.

Introduction In our society today, the older population is a diverse and growing group with more and
more individuals reaching the life stage of late adulthood, and even very late adulthood. According to
Hutchison (2015), the late adulthood stage begins at 65 years of age and continues through 85 years of
age and the very late adulthood stage begins at 85 and carries through until death. During the aging
process, many changes occur within the body and mind as well as family structure and social roles.
Individuals who have reached these life stages today may have lived through the Great Depression,

Short Term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy ( Stpp )
Short Term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Short term psychodynamic psychotherapy (STPP) focuses
on uncovering the root of emotional suffering. Followers of this therapeutic approach argue against
individuals having free will. Our early life experiences and biological drives determine the
motivations of the unconscious, which control our actions, thoughts, and behaviors. During our first
few years of life, emotions are the predominant form of communication. Having a secure attachment
to his or her caretaker is essential to an infant s survival. If a young child s expression of emotion
provokes a negative reaction from the caretaker, then survival is perceived to be in peril. In order to
protect the attachment, young children create defenses to hide those emotions. Because they were
formed in the early years, these defenses evolve into habitual adaptive mechanisms that come out
when certain feelings are triggered in order to preserve the present relationship. Certain emotions,
negative attachment issues, and other early life experiences might cause the adaptive mechanisms to
become maladaptive. Even though these defenses may have solved a past problem, they may create
greater problems in present relationships. Examining a client s belief s, emotions, early life
experiences, and thoughts can give insight into recurring patterns (i.e., transference). Awareness of
emotional trigger to these defensive unconscious reactions can help begin the process of changing the

Effective Teaching
Education is something that constantly has to change with the changing world. Change is an
evolutionary process. We cannot continue to educate our children for factory work but educate for
creativity. (Hetland 66) With this change comes new forms of learning. Students today are
technophiles. They love their video games and they can t put down their smart phones, iPods, and
social networks. The challenge for working in the electronic age is that we have so much access to
information but we still have the same brain we always had. The problem is not access to information.
It is integrating that information and making sense out of it. Students must learn to use ... Show more

To help students gain confidence in higher order thinking with complex text, effective teachers
gradually increase task complexity, moving from lower level to higher level task.
Many students believe that reading informational text is a waste of time because they can just search
the web for what they need at that time. Effective teachers get their students to believe the text is
important to get the students to read it. For teachers to increase the perceived value of reading is to
help students understand how reading the text benefits them across a range of situations. Effective
teachers give students opportunities to apply the informational text they read to concrete classroom
task.
Effective teachers set up frequent opportunities for collaboration to support students social motivation
for reading informational text. Social interaction around text has to be well managed to ensure that
students listen to one another. The students get to use creativity making new things and makes old
things new. Students build on one another s thoughts to explain the major theme of the text by
successively adding key elements as they take turns contributing to the synthesis. This helps students
become more skillful in interpreting complex text.
Today all students need to feel in control of their world. Teachers who give students choices in their
informational reading helps them develop an interest in reading. Making simple choices is a rewarding

Describe The Causes And Effects Of European Imperialism
Despite a blistering cold war between east and west Europe in the 1950 s, including the violent
suppression of anti communist protests in 1956 Hungary, the six founders of the ECSC reconvened in
1957 and signed the Treaty of Rome, which created the European Economic Community, or the
Common Market . 1960 1969: A period of Economic Growth The 1960 s are generally regarded as a
fruitful period for the European economy. The six EU nations agreed to stop charging custom duties
when trading each other and agreed to joint control over food production, which resulted in a surplus
of agricultural produce. In May 1968, French students revolted and took a portion of Paris. Ten
million workers soon joined the students, and a general strike ensued. The so called 68 generation s
protests against capitalism, consumerism, traditional French institutions, and what they viewed as
American Imperialism led to an overhaul of French society and behavior still seen today. 1970 1979:
A Growing Community and The First Enlargement On January 1, 1973, Denmark, Ireland, and the
United Kingdom joined the EU, which at this point has nine members. The short Arab Israeli war of
October 1973 resulted in a widespread energy and economic crisis in Europe. In 1974 and 1975, the
Iberian Peninsula, the last stronghold of right wing dictatorships, joined the rest of democratic Western

The, By John Abel
Just as Steinbeck diverges from the usual interpretation of Charles and Caleb as Cain, he does too in
the cases of Adam and Aron as the biblical Abel. Abel is originally described as the good one, the
innocent and more likeable, after all it was his gift that God preferred over Cain s. This is also the case
of Adam s son Aron, that Aron is the preferred son over Caleb.
In the first generation of the Trasks, following the Abel Cain framework, Steinbeck had Adam as the
Abel figure. Because there is only little information about Abel s personality in the Biblical story from
Genesis, people make their own assumptions of Abel s character. All we know is that Abel was the
preferred one and at the same time, he was killed by his brother Cain, ... Show more content on

Adam and Aron had also one thing in common, that they left their home, with no regard to their
family. Adam simply went to the army, which seemed as some kind of escape than a service for the
country and Aron decided to leave the Salinas to go to college.
After Cyrus died, Adam told Charles that he hated their father, even though Cyrus preferred Adam the
whole time. This is another example of strange behavior to his brother Charles, who feels abandoned
in their family home. Adam did not write him any letters, only to inform him if and when he was
coming home. At this point of the story, Adam is no longer the pure and innocent Abel figure. When
Adam tells Charles about his time spent in prison, Charles felt warmth for his brother you can only
feel for one who is not perfect and therefore no target for your hatred (East of Eden 144). Leatham
claims that at this point in the novel, the standard interpretation of Cain and Abel breaks down, and so
do[es] the dualism that separated Charles and Adam and the arbitrary and false divisions humans in
general draw in order to categorize others and order their world (Leatham 14). This means that neither
Charles nor Adam are longer a hundred percent pure good or bad characters, it seems like they
exchanged some of the traits. Adam is not an entirely good character because he neglects his family,
he disrespects his father and he is not hard working, but on the other hand, a reader has to see

Gender Stereotypes In Australia
It can be argued that it is the students and academic teaching staff themselves who are forcing females
into female type jobs and males into male type jobs . Connell et al. (2013) discuss gender cannot be
argued against as being irrelevant to educational outcomes and student performance. A significant
factor in Australia in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries was the expansion of education on a
massive scale, with the result being a school conceiving social class (Connell et al. 2013, p.106).
Kimball (1995) relates working concepts of meritocracy are closely linked to science. Science is
believed to be true and objective, a more meritorious type of knowledge that has accurate ideas,
methodologies and people. Science automatically assumes that it is elevated above other forms of
knowledge, becoming apparent in scientists one way method of communication, with an attitude that
there is nothing to be gained by communicating with a non scientific person (Kimball, 1995, p.141).

It is anticipated that 4G speeds could be as high as 100 Mbps. Thus, 4G will represent another
quantum leap in mobile Internet speeds and picture quality. Ericsson confirms that 4G could bring
connection speeds of up to 50 times faster than 3G networks and could offer three dimensional visual
experiences for the first time. The following graph represents what has been the typical progression of
wireless communications:
Quality of Service Challenges In wireless networks, Quality of Service (QOS) refers to the measure
of the performance for a system reflecting its transmission quality and service availability (e.g., 4G is
expected to have at least a reliability of 99.99%). Supporting QOS in 4G networks will be a major
challenge. When considering QOS, the major hurdles to overcome in 4G include: varying rate channel
characteristics, bandwidth allocations, fault tolerance levels, and handoff support among
heterogeneous wireless networks. Fortunately, QOS support can occur at the packet, transaction,
circuit, and network levels. QOS will be able to be tweaked at these different operating levels, making
the network more flexible and possibly more tolerant to QOS issues. Varying rate channel
characteristics refers to the fact that 4G applications will have varying bandwidth and transition rate
requirements. In order to provide solid network access to support the anticipated 4G applications, the
4G networks must be designed with both flexibility and scalability. Varying

As the story goes on it in fact is a little sad because the young boy decided to go on and discover
bigger, better things in life and he always forgets about the tree that loves him so much. This reminds
me of when kids are in their teens years, how we are too busy trying to fit in amongst our peers and try
new things. We are so caught up in other activities that we tend to forget about our parents and we
give more importance to other things and end up taking our parents for granted. Regardless of how the
boy neglects the tree that anxiously waits for him daily, the tree never holds a grudge because of how
strong the love is. The tree is always so excited to see the boy whenever he visits but the boy doesn t
feel the same way. Come Boy, come and climb up my trunk and swing from my branches and eat

The Impact Of Immigration On The Us Economy
The number of immigrants entering the United States legally is greater today than it was at the turn of
the century, so as the US economy. US economy has proved to be raised dramatically in the past few
years. This made me think about Immigration and the US economy on a same page in my mind. Many
questions started populating in my head such as Does immigration in some way affect the US
economy? If yes, how? After doing some research, I found that Immigration plays an important role in
the US economy. I ll start with my own background, how this question is connected to me and what
other people think about immigration. Next, I ll talk about my research findings and the unexpected
answers I got to my question. Are those answers same as people s view. As a final point, I ll talk about
what I learned in the process of researching the impact of immigration on the US economy before
concluding my essay.
Background:
I, myself is an immigrant and I know the struggle it takes to immigrate to the other country. Presently,
when we talk about immigrants, the few things that comes in our mind are terrorism, illegal
immigrants and they are the people who steal our jobs. Is that the real meaning of immigrants? The
point where this issue strikes me was, Does Immigration have only negative impacts on the US
economy? Why does media always portray immigration as a bad thing for the US economy? We often
believe things in a way in which media wants us to. Between 2000 and 2012, there was a

The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark Essay
The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark
Miss Brodie fails to be a good teacher because she teaches on her own accord, gives her students
wrong impressions, and displays unprofessional behavior towards her staff and pupils.
As a schoolteacher in Edinburgh during the 1930 s there were many rules and regulations that teachers
had to adhere to in order to successfully feed the minds of their young pupils. Schoolteachers had
more of a responsibility during this period than today because school was the only source of
information and education that people could receive. Due to this fact, the government set strict
policies and curriculums (and still do) that teachers must follow so that students could grow up to

She chose to ignore these mandatory guidelines and pursued her own fashion and material when
instructing her students. This is why Miss Jean Brodie fails to be a decent teacher.
Miss Jean Brodie is a very self centered person who likes to talk about herself to her class. She
mentions to her class on several occasions that she is in the prime of her life and that it is the best time
of ones life. Although she states that ones prime is when they are born , Miss Brodie contradicts this
statement and leads her class to believe that life is no good until one reaches their prime, which is at
her age. This is misleading for the students who are at a susceptible age. By giving this wrong
impression her students are left to believe that they have nothing to look forward to until they reach
Miss Brodie s age.
Another example of how Miss Brodie gives her student the wrong impression was her repetitive
attacks on Miss MacKay. It was obvious the two teachers did not like one another, which is bound to
happen in any profession. However, advertising this dislike to her classroom only leads to problems.
The first time that this occurs is when Miss Brodie was leading here class out to the elm tree for the
imaginary history lesson. On the way outside she stops her class in front of Miss MacKay s office,
points to a picture of the old Prime

Cisco s Loyal Customer Base
Loyal Customer Base Cisco has a powerful presence among sizeable corporations, which creates a
vast loyal customer base. Cisco has a strong impact over enterprise purchasing decisions, for which
several of its IT leaders acquire Cisco products virtually by default. Cisco s customers perceive the
safety of purchasing from a resilient global leader, which gives these corporations the opportunity to
acquire WLAN equipment bundled with switches, and other equipment at great prices. The
significance of Cisco s loyal customer base is magnified by the fact that, through 2017, more than
60% of global revenue from sales of wired and WLAN access infrastructure will continue to come
from North America, Western Europe and Japan. (Gartner) WEAKNESSES Dependency on Suppliers
and Manufacturers Cisco has an outsourced manufacturing strategy which creates a considerable
dependency on its suppliers and manufacturers for several components. As a result, Cisco does not
have a lot of influence on the operations of these manufacturers and there have been some supply

longer lead times on many of its products. Moreover, as a result of previous contracts, the organization
is forced to pay higher prices for certain components, reducing the organization s profit margin.

machines. The examples included the engineering of chemicals and iron productions, use of steam
power and the plant machine method. Due to the developments in the way of production in the
industries, employment especially the textile industry featured both male and female genders
improving the overall living standards of people. Sexual revolution can also be described as sexual
liberation because it was seen as freedom from the traditional codes of behavior to interpersonal
relationships and sexuality (Gill 103). As a result of this there was witnessed several changes in the
general perceptions and traditions held, especially on gender and social stereotypes, which resulted to
sexual liberation. This paper is going to look into industrial revolution and find out the extent to which
it constituted to sexual revolution and the everyday social and family life for both men, women and
the children.
Industrialization took place earlier in the western countries than the other parts of the world. Through
the introduction of machines that made work easier in the industries, employment was no longer a
man s thing and women found an opportunity to work (Carlin 318). The revolution created a shortage
in labor and textile factories absorbed young single ladies from the rural areas. The

Controversy Surrounding The New Immigration Reform Essay
There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the new immigration reform that was introduced by
President Barack Obama. The issue has been split between politicians because one side wants illegal
immigrants to face deportation while others want to make drastic changes to improve the broken
system, so President Obama decided to take his own legal action on the issue. Three critical elements
of the President s executive actions are: cracking down on illegal immigration at the border, deporting
felons not families, and accountability by passing criminal background checks and paying their fair
share of taxes (The White House). Every year hundreds of thousands of immigrants come into the
United States illegally. These immigrants come to America for a variety of reasons; whether it s
hoping for a chance at a better life or escaping violence and poverty in their home country. America s
immigration system has been broken for decades. Too many employers cheat the system by hiring
undocumented workers who don t have proper work authorization. There are millions of people living
in the shadows that are afraid of being caught by authorities and sent back. These ongoing problems
are neither good for the economy or the country. Obama has argued that this has been an ongoing
problem for decades and that its time to fix this broken system. The President s actions will streamline
legal immigration to boost our economy and will promote naturalization for those who qualify (The

First Philippic Against Marcus Essay
In Cicero amp;#8217;s, amp;#8220;First Philippic against Marcus Antonius, ; he is offering his view
on the political situation after the death of Caesar. His purpose for coming before the Senate is to drive
them to the realization that Marcus Antonius and his actions are slowly breaking down the unity of the
country. He praises Marcus Antonius for his fine speech, intentions, and promises, then points out the
fallacies and unconstitutionality of Marcus Antonius amp;#8217; actions. He reminds the Senators that
amp;#8220;Nothing was done any longer through the Senate amp;#8230; ; because measures were
being passed without declaration or consent. The Senate and Caesar amp;#8217;s advisors are Cicero
amp;#8217;s audience even though the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
amp;#8220;Were any exiles recalled? One amp;#8230;Were any tax exemptions granted? None. ; At
this point, the Senate can agree with Cicero amp;#8217;s contentment because Marcus Antonius has
done many admirable deeds. But after this remark, Cicero amp;#8217;s tone changes. amp;#8220;So
determined was his action that I am amazed by the contrast between that day and all the others which
have followed. ; He points out the days when Marcus Antonius deeds were just and great and then
there is a sudden transformation, a dramatic mood or tone change.
Cicero continues to confirm his credibility because his speech cannot be effective without the Senate
being convinced that he has only good intentions at heart. He states the circumstances that prompted
his departure. He explains that amp;#8220;Nothing was any longer done through the Senate, many
significant measure were passed through the Assembly of the people amp;#8230;without even
consulting the Assembly, and against its wishes. The consuls elect declared they did not dare come
into the Senate at all. The liberators amp;#8230;were excluded from the very city which they had
rescued from servitude amp;#8230; ; Cicero felt that amp;#8220;it was less disagreeable to learn of
these things that to see them amp;#8230; ; so he

Bartolome de Las Casas Book Review
An Account much abbreviated of the destruction of the Indies, Indianapolis, IN, Hackett Publishing
Company INC., 2003
Bartolme De Las Casas is an interesting character. His passion for people who at the time were seen as
a sub species of humans (if even human at all) is remarkable. De Las Casas came from a modest
family and was well educated. He was brought into the world of the America s through his father
Pedro De Las Casas who was an encomiendo himself. His travels through the New World prior to
1510 when he became an ordained priest shaped his crusade to defend the Natives.
There are many clues in this book which point to the exaggeration of its content. For instance at one
point De Las Casas goes as far as to say that 12 million ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
De Las Casas did affect King Charles the 5th and in 1542 after reading Brevisima Relacion he quickly
created the New Laws which conveniently put an end to some of the rights of the encomienda which
the monarch felt gave too much power to Spanish land owners in the Americas. De Las Casas gave the
King the perfect excuse to take power back from the encomiendos justifying it with Christianity which
the Spanish monarchs were responsible to uphold. The political system of the time and its relation to
the Catholic Church makes every situation involving members of the clergy to have political
repercussions. The royals used De Las Casas to take power back for them selves; De Las Casas used
his political leverage and the crowns responsibility to protect the values of Christianity to aid his
cause. While it is clear what the monarchs gain from De Las Casas was, De Las Casas passion to help
the Indians seems purely genuine to me. Although at times reading the book I became frustrated and
bored (even while I read such brutal details and events) I understand the need for the exaggerations
and over done dramatics. Even though it is not 100% true that De Las Casas witnessed all the horrible
events that he described it is true that they did occur. The means justifies the end in this case and the
need for attention at this time to the terrible treatment of the Natives was worth the repetitive and at
times

  • 2. Delivery Drones Research Papers Delivery Drones Imagine that you are eating breakfast and accidently spill coffee on your tie. You have an important meeting in less than one hour and you do not have time to go to the store to buy a new one. You pull out your phone and tap on the screen a few times; you have just ordered a tie online. Thirty minutes later, you walk outside and take a package from underneath a drone. Inside the package is the tie you had ordered. You quickly put on the tie and make it to the meeting on time. Many people experience problems where a certain item is needed quickly, but they do not have the time to go and buy it at a store. This is where delivery drones can play a major role. The autonomy of drones requires cameras, which many people think can be used to spy on people (Elzweig 173). However, major companies that would utilize drones already have many peoples personal information and have not done anything bad with them. Therefore, the pictures or videos from the cameras on drones would most likely not be used to harm people. Another argument that is made against delivery drones is that there is too much regulation from the government (Stark 26). Right now, the FAA, or Federal Aviation Administration, has a rule that autonomous drones cannot fly over highly populated areas (Peck 40). Another rule is that the drones cannot fly in a large range (Peck 40). While rules like this are in place right now, the rules will almost definitely change to fit with evolving technology. Therefore, regulations that are in place today will probably not be in place in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Corner Of Bitter And Sweet I am going to be reflecting on the book Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet in this essay. I definitely enjoyed this book because of the story being told and the way it transitions chapter to chapter between old Henry and young Henry. I also am myself very interested in the World War 2 era in history and it is very interesting to see the war from a Chinese or Japanese Americans perspective as opposed to an only American perspective. (On page 12) I don t like that Henry s parents make him speak in only English, especially because Henry s parents don t (for the most part) know how to speak English. Usually, young boys wake up to toys or a pet to play with but not Henry today. Even for a boy of Henry s age, it would be scary to wake up to sirens. I would be scared today at the age of fifteen to wake up to sirens. I ll be here where am I going to go (Page 164) I think it is very sad that Henry has to see his friend like this locked up in a cage like an animal or criminal. A twelve year old boy should not have to deal with such an experience in his young life. In closing, I think the book is awesome and I really enjoyed reading it. Much like there are several different ways a person can draw: cartooning, free hand, or realistic, there are many ways in which a person can speak. Nikki Giovanni s speech We Are Virginia Tech makes people cry, rejoice, and move on. A speech is one form of art that can evoke these types of emotions from people. As seen in the video people are either crying after she is finished, or standing up with a newfound inspiration to stand tall and put this tragedy in the past. • 6. The Victorian Era Art Historian, Daniel Siedell said, In such a society as the Victorians , when public society is so stifling, steam is naturally going to be driven underground. The reform of the Victorian era, a time in England of refinement and high decorum surrounding the years of Queen Victoria s reign, did not produce revolution but the opposite: stagnation. And so at this time in England there were ingredients present to create a real revolution and bring a dismantling of the Victorian spirit, but they were underground and silent. Oscar Wilde aimed to bring that underground movement above ground through flagrancy. Wilde s innovative faith as well as shocking literature were two gears of the same vehicle. They were gears dependent upon each other to bring anti Victorian aestheticism to the surface of English society and culture. Oscar Wilde s literary revolt against propriety paralleled his unconventional view of religion both were a rejection of law and an embrace of beauty. In as much as Wilde influenced The Victorian era and what came thereafter, the Victorians society in England was Wilde s environment and the cause of who he was. The era, during and around when Queen Victoria was on the throne in England, was characterized by what they thought was, revolution. • 12. The Atheist Argument From Evil Essay Have you ever encountered something and said to yourself Why me? Or have you wondered Why do so many people lose their lives to murders or accidents? There is so much suffering in this world that we hear about, including rapes, war, genocide, or natural disasters. Every person has different disasters and oftentimes we cannot come up with a possible reason these happen to us. This thought has led some philosophers, such as William Rowe, to believe that God does not exist. Although there are some logical possible reasons God permits evil, it seem unlikely that there are logical reasons for the huge amount of suffering the world experiences. The large amount of suffering seems to suggest that there is no God rather than an inactive one. The atheist argument from evil goes as follows: There exist horrendous evils that an all powerful, all knowing, perfectly good being would have no justifying reason to permit. An all powerful, all knowing, perfectly good being would not permit an evil unless he had a justifying reason to permit it. Therefore, God does not exist. According to William Rowe, some evils may serve a greater good, such as free will. However, there are other evils that seem to serve no greater good, such as natural evils that include cancer or tornadoes that kill millions of people and other creatures every year. One example that Rowe provides is the following: A fawn is horribly burned in a forest fire caused by lightning. It lies on the forest floor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The opening scene presents Hester on the scaffold, receiving the punishment of a scarlet letter A . Her community describes her as sinful by nature, which was a common description of women during puritanical times. By the first scene, Hester can be scene as a parallel to Eve. Arthur Dimmesdale, a religious leader in the novel, exhibits traits of Adam in Adam and Eve. Unlike Hester, Dimmesdale decides to conceal his secret for seven years due to his need to preserve his reputation. Dimmesdale parallels Adam because just as Adam hid his sin from God, Dimmesdale hid his sin from his society. There have been sightings of the woman s ghost reported at the tower and other locations such as her home, Hever Castle in Kent. (History.com) Then there s the White House in the United States. Considered to be perhaps the most haunted house in America, there has been several reported phenomenons, many of them believed to be sightings of past presidents of the United States. Mary Todd Lincoln, wife of Abraham Lincoln, believed strongly in the occult and often held seances in order to communicate with her sons. She had told friends she had heard former president Andrew Jackson stomping and swearing through the halls of the presidential residence. Jackson s bedchamber, also know as the Rose Room, is said to be one of the most haunted rooms in the White House. But he isn t the only president said to be wandering the halls of the ... • 25. Short Term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy ( Stpp ) Short Term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Short term psychodynamic psychotherapy (STPP) focuses on uncovering the root of emotional suffering. Followers of this therapeutic approach argue against individuals having free will. Our early life experiences and biological drives determine the motivations of the unconscious, which control our actions, thoughts, and behaviors. During our first few years of life, emotions are the predominant form of communication. Having a secure attachment to his or her caretaker is essential to an infant s survival. If a young child s expression of emotion provokes a negative reaction from the caretaker, then survival is perceived to be in peril. In order to protect the attachment, young children create defenses to hide those emotions. Because they were formed in the early years, these defenses evolve into habitual adaptive mechanisms that come out when certain feelings are triggered in order to preserve the present relationship. Certain emotions, negative attachment issues, and other early life experiences might cause the adaptive mechanisms to become maladaptive. Even though these defenses may have solved a past problem, they may create greater problems in present relationships. Examining a client s belief s, emotions, early life experiences, and thoughts can give insight into recurring patterns (i.e., transference). Awareness of emotional trigger to these defensive unconscious reactions can help begin the process of changing the recurring ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The six EU nations agreed to stop charging custom duties when trading each other and agreed to joint control over food production, which resulted in a surplus of agricultural produce. In May 1968, French students revolted and took a portion of Paris. Ten million workers soon joined the students, and a general strike ensued. Abel is originally described as the good one, the innocent and more likeable, after all it was his gift that God preferred over Cain s. This is also the case of Adam s son Aron, that Aron is the preferred son over Caleb. In the first generation of the Trasks, following the Abel Cain framework, Steinbeck had Adam as the Abel figure. Because there is only little information about Abel s personality in the Biblical story from Genesis, people make their own assumptions of Abel s character. Adam and Aron had also one thing in common, that they left their home, with no regard to their family. Adam simply went to the army, which seemed as some kind of escape than a service for the country and Aron decided to leave the Salinas to go to college. After Cyrus died, Adam told Charles that he hated their father, even though Cyrus preferred Adam the whole time. This is another example of strange behavior to his brother Charles, who feels abandoned in their family home. Adam did not write him any letters, only to inform him if and when he was coming home. At this point of the story, Adam is no longer the pure and innocent Abel figure. When Adam tells Charles about his time spent in prison, Charles felt warmth for his brother you can only feel for one who is not perfect and therefore no target for your hatred (East of Eden 144). Leatham claims that at this point in the novel, the standard interpretation of Cain and Abel breaks down, and so do[es] the dualism that separated Charles and Adam and the arbitrary and false divisions humans in general draw in order to categorize others and order their world (Leatham 14). This means that neither Charles nor Adam are longer a hundred percent pure good or bad characters, it seems like they exchanged some of the traits. Connell et al. (2013) discuss gender cannot be argued against as being irrelevant to educational outcomes and student performance. A significant factor in Australia in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries was the expansion of education on a massive scale, with the result being a school conceiving social class (Connell et al. 2013, p.106). Science is believed to be true and objective, a more meritorious type of knowledge that has accurate ideas, methodologies and people. The following graph represents what has been the typical progression of wireless communications: Quality of Service Challenges In wireless networks, Quality of Service (QOS) refers to the measure of the performance for a system reflecting its transmission quality and service availability (e.g., 4G is expected to have at least a reliability of 99.99%). Supporting QOS in 4G networks will be a major challenge. When considering QOS, the major hurdles to overcome in 4G include: varying rate channel characteristics, bandwidth allocations, fault tolerance levels, and handoff support among heterogeneous wireless networks. Fortunately, QOS support can occur at the packet, transaction, circuit, and network levels. QOS will be able to be tweaked at these different operating levels, making the network more flexible and possibly more tolerant to QOS issues. Varying rate channel characteristics refers to the fact that 4G applications will have varying bandwidth and transition rate requirements. • 45. Controversy Surrounding The New Immigration Reform Essay There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the new immigration reform that was introduced by President Barack Obama. The issue has been split between politicians because one side wants illegal immigrants to face deportation while others want to make drastic changes to improve the broken system, so President Obama decided to take his own legal action on the issue. Three critical elements of the President s executive actions are: cracking down on illegal immigration at the border, deporting felons not families, and accountability by passing criminal background checks and paying their fair share of taxes (The White House). Every year hundreds of thousands of immigrants come into the United States illegally. These immigrants come to America for a variety of reasons; whether it s hoping for a chance at a better life or escaping violence and poverty in their home country. America s immigration system has been broken for decades. Too many employers cheat the system by hiring undocumented workers who don t have proper work authorization. There are millions of people living in the shadows that are afraid of being caught by authorities and sent back. These ongoing problems are neither good for the economy or the country. Obama has argued that this has been an ongoing problem for decades and that its time to fix this broken system. The President s actions will streamline legal immigration to boost our economy and will promote naturalization for those who qualify (The White ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. First Philippic Against Marcus Essay In Cicero amp;#8217;s, amp;#8220;First Philippic against Marcus Antonius, ; he is offering his view on the political situation after the death of Caesar. His purpose for coming before the Senate is to drive them to the realization that Marcus Antonius and his actions are slowly breaking down the unity of the country. He praises Marcus Antonius for his fine speech, intentions, and promises, then points out the fallacies and unconstitutionality of Marcus Antonius amp;#8217; actions. He reminds the Senators that amp;#8220;Nothing was done any longer through the Senate amp;#8230; ; because measures were being passed without declaration or consent. The Senate and Caesar amp;#8217;s advisors are Cicero amp;#8217;s audience even though the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... amp;#8220;Were any exiles recalled? One amp;#8230;Were any tax exemptions granted? None. ; At this point, the Senate can agree with Cicero amp;#8217;s contentment because Marcus Antonius has done many admirable deeds. But after this remark, Cicero amp;#8217;s tone changes. amp;#8220;So determined was his action that I am amazed by the contrast between that day and all the others which have followed. ; He points out the days when Marcus Antonius deeds were just and great and then there is a sudden transformation, a dramatic mood or tone change. Cicero continues to confirm his credibility because his speech cannot be effective without the Senate being convinced that he has only good intentions at heart. He states the circumstances that prompted his departure. He explains that amp;#8220;Nothing was any longer done through the Senate, many significant measure were passed through the Assembly of the people amp;#8230;without even consulting the Assembly, and against its wishes. The consuls elect declared they did not dare come into the Senate at all. The liberators amp;#8230;were excluded from the very city which they had rescued from servitude amp;#8230; ; Cicero felt that amp;#8220;it was less disagreeable to learn of these things that to see them amp;#8230; ; so he ... • 47. Bartolome de Las Casas Book Review An Account much abbreviated of the destruction of the Indies, Indianapolis, IN, Hackett Publishing Company INC., 2003 Bartolme De Las Casas is an interesting character. His passion for people who at the time were seen as a sub species of humans (if even human at all) is remarkable. De Las Casas came from a modest family and was well educated. He was brought into the world of the America s through his father Pedro De Las Casas who was an encomiendo himself. His travels through the New World prior to 1510 when he became an ordained priest shaped his crusade to defend the Natives. There are many clues in this book which point to the exaggeration of its content. For instance at one point De Las Casas goes as far as to say that 12 million ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... De Las Casas did affect King Charles the 5th and in 1542 after reading Brevisima Relacion he quickly created the New Laws which conveniently put an end to some of the rights of the encomienda which the monarch felt gave too much power to Spanish land owners in the Americas. De Las Casas gave the King the perfect excuse to take power back from the encomiendos justifying it with Christianity which the Spanish monarchs were responsible to uphold. The political system of the time and its relation to the Catholic Church makes every situation involving members of the clergy to have political repercussions. The royals used De Las Casas to take power back for them selves; De Las Casas used his political leverage and the crowns responsibility to protect the values of Christianity to aid his cause. While it is clear what the monarchs gain from De Las Casas was, De Las Casas passion to help the Indians seems purely genuine to me. Although at times reading the book I became frustrated and bored (even while I read such brutal details and events) I understand the need for the exaggerations and over done dramatics. Even though it is not 100% true that De Las Casas witnessed all the horrible events that he described it is true that they did occur. The means justifies the end in this case and the need for attention at this time to the terrible treatment of the Natives was worth the repetitive and at times ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
