The Reflection Of Student Disconnection In The Class
Student disconnection is like a virus that spreads to everyone in the class, just one student with their
head down and you soon have a pandemic of uninterested children. It s vital to stop this
disengagement as soon as it appears to keep it localized to one student. Currently, I am the long
term substitute for a High School Math II class featuring mostly tenth graders. At times it s difficult
to hold the attentionof a room filled with snarky teenagers. I use a variety of techniques to keep my
students engaged drawling from high quality instruction, classroom management skills, and our
teacher/studentrelationship. Every day the lesson plan for my class is fast paced and as exciting
as possible. The idea is to keep them busy the entire class to avoid disengagement. If we are
moving at a quick pace it s harder for students to zone out or they miss a ton of information. Next,
I utilize different types of materials to explain the topic of the day. I may start by giving notes and
lecturing, then move on to a video where the same idea is communicated more visually. Changing
up instruction methods seems to hold a student s attention better than if I simply drone on lecturing.
I also like to switch up activities, class may begin with a lecture for fifteen minutes, then move on
to a worksheet or some online learning. Changing activities provide a natural brain break, although
at times I implant those by telling a joke or allowing a student to share a story. Classroom

Examples Of Teenage Rebellion In Catcher In The Rye
Holden Caulfield: Teenage Rebellion Phony is defined as a fake or an ingenuine person, this word
was used most often by no other than Holden Caulfield, the most recognizable teenager in
American literature. To truly understand who Holden Caulfield is, we must take a trip back in time
to the 50s. The 1950swas a decade of prosperity and conformity, life in the 50s was simply
peaceful. However, in the summer of 1951, J.D Salinger published a book entitled The Catcher in
the Rye , the main protagonist of the novel, Holden Caulfield, described the 1950s as a disgusting
and phony era. Holden himself is depicted as a teenager disillusioned by the adult world. Holden
finds the hypocrisy of the adult world to be almost intolerable, with this mindset, he alienates
himself from the society and he soon realized that he wants to become a catcher in the rye ,
which is to be a guardian of children, protecting them from the ugliness of adulthood and the
process of maturity. The fuel that drove Holden to become who he is today was that of his
childhood sibling loss, after the tragedy, Holden became desperate and infuriated. Almost 70
years later, Holden Caulfield still resonates in American culture, this leaves reviews questioning,
why was the novel so meaningful and popular? Salinger s universal idea of alienation and
phoniness gave rise to the novel, never has anyone seen such a controversial book, but no one
realized that Salinger s message is pointed toward the faults of the American society. Throughout
the novel, Salinger provided numerous clues indicating his message to the readers about his
belief about the American society. One clue is when Holden mentions the phoniness in the adult
world, he can t help but judge a person based on his or her speech and appearance. For example,
in the novel, Holden decided that he is not fond of a businessman, therefore, he states: You
should see old Ossenburger... He started off with about fifty corny jokes, just to show us what a
regular guy he was...That killed me... He was telling us all about what a swell guy he was, what a
hot shot and all. I can just see the big phony bastard shifting into first gear and asking Jesus to send
him a few more stiffs (Salinger 23). From this

Analysis Of Jonathan Swift s Gulliver s Travels
Jonathan Swift was a writer known for his use of satire: the application of humor, irony,
exaggeration, and ridicule to expose and criticize. At a glance, the novel seems to be a travel log of
Lemuel Gulliver s adventures, but is primarily a work of satire. Through Gulliver s Travels, Swift
strives to satirize the eighteenth century humanity. Swift was titled a misanthrope, a hater of
humanity, his misanthropy rose from his disappointment in mankind. Swift utilizes Gulliver in
satirizing the population, which he was disappointed with, in each voyage of the novel. The satire
used in Gulliver s Travels is used to reveal how Swift regarded mankind, as societies who did not
exist to their utmost potential to be great but were instead exhibiting the frills of greatness.
Swift was recognized as a man of intelligence and used his intellect to display the anarchy,
corruption, and confusion of the eighteenth century England. He saw the idiocy and the vices
behind the façade of reason and common sense. His intelligence was capable to of identifying
evil in all its forms and areas of presence and he could not endure the lack of reason in any aspect
of human existence. His being of displeased with the ways of people, Swift felt accountable to try
to reform it. Corruption in religion was vigorously criticized along with the impractical use of
scientific knowledge in his works. Swift felt that man could never achieve perfection. He frequently
used a mask in his writing, hiding behind

Feminism In Persepolis
All women in their lifetime go through an experience that makes them feel proud and dignified to
be a woman. Marjane Satrapi strives to find this feeling of self worth and the satisfaction of being a
woman in Iran as she grows up during her war torn childhood in her bildungsroman, Persepolis.
Marjane experiences both positive and negative moments throughout the memoir such as growing
up alone in Austria, speaking against womens dress codes, and her constant struggle to make her
grandma proud, all which help her learn independence and help form her into a strong feminist
woman.
As Marjane experiences new ideas and culture once she moves to Austria as a teenager, she finds
that there are many things she doesn t agree with or understand. Fitting in as a teenager is hard
enough without having to deal with being stranded all alone, which is exactly what Satrapi had
to endure for years on end. During those years of growth, Marjane ran into many obstacles
including her relationship with boys and smoking. One of Marjane s first friends that she made
while living in Austria was the influence for much of her confusion when it came to social
activities. Marjane was surprised when she attended a party and it was the opposite of what
parties were like in Iran where there was dancing and food, instead people preferred to lie around
and smoke (Satrapi 185). Almost everything Marjane experienced in Austria was against how she
was raised in Iran. Marjane thought to herself, And then,

The Gang System And The Task System
During the time of slavery, planters and plantation organizers had two types of labor systems.
The Gang System and the Task System. The two differed greatly in that the gang system tasked
slaves to work all day, from sunrise to sunset, allowing for breaks for lunch and dinner. Louisiana
Sugar Plantations provided the most typical example of the gang system in the American South.
Slaves were expected to labor up to twenty four hours straight during harvest periods. Heat
exhaustion and accidents were common as many slaves were worked to death under the gang
system. This system is characterized by its brutality and inefficiency. Whereas under the task
system, the slaves would be given certain tasks to complete for the day. Tasks were often
measured in terms of an acre, additional on rice plantations in tidal floodplains, the work was
divided into sections as sectioned by irrigation ditches. The slaves would work more efficiently
to complete these tasks in order to enjoy the free time afforded to them by their masters. This
system allowed slaves to work for their own benefit. They could hunt, fish and work their own
plots, thereby improving their nutritional intake. Slaves could even sell surplus food in the local
markets as well for a modest amount of profit. The task system boosted short range performance.
When a slave finished his work he was done, but if a slave worked over his time, the master paid
for it. And when a slave accomplished two tasks in a day, they would

Samsung s Four Theories Of Strategies
There are four main theories of strategy that we are going to look out for. Each theory contains
different views about the human capacity to think in a rational way and to act in an effective way.
The classical theory which assumes that rational economic man is in charge of the firm, the
evolutionary theory that doesn t rely on managers but instead they expect the markets to secure
maximization of profit in which according to it the market selects the winner. The processual theory
is like the evolutionary in being skeptic about rational economic man being in charge but still not
too confident about the markets securing the profit maximizationin which it takes a very different
view of human nature, and the last theory we are going to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

My Personal Philosophy Of Philosophy
Statement of Philosophy My personal philosophy its important for me that I stay true to my
personal, moral and ethical values that has followed me throughout my life. The American Nursing
Association stats The nurse owes the same duties to self as to others, including the responsibility to
preserve integrity and safety, to maintain competence and to continue personal and professional
growth . (American NurseAssociation, 2011, p. 7)Jean Watson says that nursing should be
concerned with the pursuit of hidden truths and new insights, developments of knowledge in
relation to the human experiencing caring healing, health and illness (Watson, 2012, p. 2), and
when the nurse does this, the nurse can be open to learn new discoveries of how to be in a
professional human caring healing relationship with individuals or better serve humankind and
global civilization . (Watson, 2012, p. 2). Personally, having the opportunity to impact someone
everyday is very powerful, I want to be a compassionate nurse by the words I use, my actions, and
my attitude can help another human being to heal and that is something that I will remember all
throughout my life.

Disney Gender Roles
For many years, Disney has made fairy tale films that are full of lovable characters that children
cannot seem to get enough of. The traits of many of the characters remain great models for
children to watch and learn from. Adults tend to see a bit more than just the good qualities they
embody, which leads to the realization that these films are far from perfect. Upon closer inspection,
Disney films embrace patriarchal and sexist ideologies when it comes to their characters something
that Disney has been nearly successful in eradicating in their most recent films. From the earliest
films to the most recent, the portrayal of genderroles, of both the hero/heroine and the villain, has
changed for the better. The earliest princesses, Snow White,... Show more content on

In response to criticism and to avoid being called sexist, Disney started using more male villains.
According to Amy Davis, there exist several different types of male villain: pirate kings,
enemies of the earth, magically dangerous, criminally dangerous, comic, and idiotic. Ratcliffe,
from Pocahontas, is an enemy of the earth villain and concerned only with what wealth he can
gain from the land. The Shadow Man, from The Princess and the Frog, is a magically dangerous
villain and a practitioner of voodoo. He exerts his magical power to manipulate other people to
do what he wishes, and his primary goal consists of becoming ridiculously wealthy. Shan yu,
from Mulan, is a criminally dangerous and arrogant villain with a grandiose sense of self who is
intent on conquering the whole of China. Hans, from Frozen, is probably a criminally dangerous
villain, although he lacks mention in Davis s book. Being the youngest in his family, he feels as
though he does not get anything he believes he deserves, so he manipulates Anna to gain access to
her kingdom and wealth. Gaston, from Beauty and the Beast, is a comic villain composed of more
brawn than brain. He only cares about acquiring wealth, a category that also includes Belle. These
male villains all have similar characteristics greed, arrogance, overconfidence, and violent
tendencies (Amy Davis Ch.

The Differences Between Dementia And Alzheimer s Disease
When a lot of people think about dementia or Alzheimer s disease, they usually use the two
interchangeably and think they have to do with memory. It is true that they have to do with
memory, but there are major differences between dementia and Alzheimer s disease.
Misconceptions and lack of knowledge can lead to death or injury, which is why initiatives like
Healthy People 2020 are so important. Dementias and Alzheimer s affect a person s daily life in
many ways and it can be dangerous or deadly if not diagnosed and dealt with properly. It is
important that there is an increase in people and their caregivers who are aware of the diagnosisand
a decrease in preventable hospitalizations. Before explaining why this initiative is so important, it
is necessary to explain the differences between dementia and Alzheimer s disease. Dementia is
actually not a disease. It s a bunch of symptoms and is seen more as an umbrella term ( ). It is
generally used to describe the loss or decline of cognitive functioning to the point where it
affects the person s daily life. Dementia occurs in people who have diseases such as ( ). It is
generally seen as an elder problem that develops as someone ages, but this is not necessarily
true. Most people who have dementia or Alzheimer s are 65 or older, but there is a type of
dementia that affects younger people. This type is called Early Onset Dementia (EOD) that affects
people under 65 years, while 65 years and older would be Late Onset Dementia

nurses deal with general conditions, others specialize in neurological or emergency care. One of the
most common specializations is cardiac telemetry. Cardiac Telemetry Cardiac telemetry nurses
specialize in cardiac care and in the use of electrocardiogram equipment. They must systematically
apply their nursing judgment skills to perform assessments designed to evaluate pain, psycho social
background and patient education needs. Based on this information, they must identify risks, make

Colan was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2005. He passed away in

Gene Colan s mark making is exceptional. The strokes of the pencil and hatching are used to
communicate form and structure to the figures and elements in his drawings. Solid black would
immensely flatten the images, but the quick hatch work brings energy and life to the characters.

The mark making in the man in the last panel align with the contours of his head and face, bringing
form to his features and facial structure. Similar pencil strokes are scene in the crowd, but are less
pronounced when compared to the man in his own panel.
The buildings are successful in the sense of pattern, but are not correct in terms of perspective.
Overall, this page has nice mark making, but lacks in readability.
The black placement in the page brings attention to the areas framed by light. The figures are the
focal point in both panels.
In the first panel, the black placement weights the bed as it recedes into the floor, but then is
balanced out by the cast shadow of the wall in the top left corner. The second panel has a similar
effect from the bed black placement. However, the face on the poster on the wall is staring right at
the viewer, and he becomes the focal point of the room instead of the figures in the bed.
The hatch direction gives form to all the surfaces of the room. The bed covers specifically benefit
from the directional hatching in the folds. The forms also benefit from the directionality.
The artist has left plenty of room for world bubbles and any other text.
The overview of the down shot successfully establishes the anchor points of the room before
moving to a close up on the characters in the bed.

History Rhymes
A NAME IS MUCH MORE THAN JUST A NAME. HISTORY DOES NOT REPEAT ITSELF but
sometimes it rhymes.
I m just asking simple question and expect simple answers.
Q: is it alright to name an Indian kid Ajmal Amir Kasab?
Q: is it okay to name a kid living in America Osama bin Laden?
One of the lessons of history is that nothing is often a good thing to do and always a clever thing
to say. If we do not learn from the mistakes of history, we are doomed to repeat them. When it
comes to the lessons of history there are doubtless many things we could aspire to learn.
Some of those would be more practically useful, in terms of contributing to the normal and decent
functioning of well meaning societies than others. One lesson of history is that religion has many
lives, and a habit of resurrection. How often in the past have God and religion died and been
reborn! Atheism ran wild in the India of Buddha s youth, and
Buddha himself founded a religion without a god; after his death Buddhism developed a complex
theology including gods, saints, and hell. It is an utter shame that Saif Ali Khan and Kareena

Case Study #1 Euro Disney, The First 100 Days 1.0Introduction Ever since the first Disneyland
was founded in 1955 in Anaheim, California, the Walt Disney Company had experienced nothing
but success in the theme park business until its second oversea Disneyland Euro Disney was
opened in France in 1992. Following the success of the company s first oversea Disneyland in
Tokyo, Japan, on April 12, 1992, within its $4.4 billion budget, Euro Disney was opened in Marne

American popular culture has always had a great influence on Japan. Thus, the design of the
Tokyo Disneyland was virtually identical to the Anaheim Disneyland. Most aspects of the
Tokyo Disneyland remained as American as possible. Second, there is an increasing trend in
Japan toward leisure. The Tokyo Disneyland had even become a special cultural haven in Japan.
Despite the different way of life between Japan and the U.S., Japanese people maintained great
interests in the Disney s brand of entertainment. The annual festive party on the New Year s Day
and Evening has been an extremely popular celebration. And feedbacks from Tokyo Disneyland
visitors were overwhelmingly positive. As a result, managers of Disney were convinced that
everything they imported that worked in the U.S. worked in Tokyo. 4.0Euro Disney Having seen
the success achieved by two native Disneylands and the Tokyo Disneyland, with full of optimism,
Disney launched another international Disneyland the Euro Disney on April 12, 1992, in France
within its $4.4 billion budget. However, unlike Tokyo Disneyland, Euro Disney did not
experience the same success in terms of admissions and revenues. There were several reasons that
could explain the frustrations of Euro Disney. First and one of the most crucial factors were
cultural issues. While the success of Tokyo Disneyland was a major factor behind the decision to
create Euro Disney, the cultural challenges of France were very

Major event
(i)The 1960 s to the mid 1970 s saw a booming New Zealand economy and a Labour shortage
throughout New Zealand. The Pacific Island people were vital to filling these shortages.
(ii)Dawn raids of the 1970s in New Zealand were undertaken by the police at the direction of the
Department of Immigration.
(iii)In 1964 the Cook Islands were granted full internal self government; A Constitution Act was
created. This allowed open access to New Zealand by the Cook Island people.
Community contribution
(i)New Zealand had relaxed its immigration controls and it was the highest rate of Pacific Island
people migration to New Zealand.
(ii)The Pacific Island people felt mistreated. From this emerged the Polynesian Panthers, a group
who stood up for their rights.
(iii)The Cook Islands wanted to be self governed but knew they wouldn t survive economically,

Effects of Concentration on Enzymatic Activity of Salivary Amylase
Rose Cruz
Arapahoe Community College
The purpose of this lab was to see if there was a relationship in the amount of concentration of
salivary amylase to the amount of time it took to break down starch. To determine if varying
concentrations affected the reaction time of the breakdown of starch, we used 4 different dilutions of
salivary amylase and used 2 controls (positive/negative). Amylase is an enzyme responsible for
breaking down starch into sugars. It is hypothesized that a lower concentration of amylase would
cause the breakdown of starch to take a longer period of time or a slower reaction rate as opposed
to a higher concentration of amylase. The results of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the concentration of the reactant (substrate) changes and is increased while the enzyme
concentration stays the same, the higher the concentration, the lower the reaction rate will be for
the enzyme to break down the increased amount of reactant (Factors affecting Enzyme Activity,
n.d.). The same applies for if the concentration of enzyme changes and is increased while other
factors stay the same. The higher the concentration of enzyme, the higher the reaction rate will be
as the enzyme breaks down the reactant. In this experiment concentration affects the enzymatic
activity increasing or decreasing the amount of concentration of amylase in a solution (Factors
affecting Enzyme Activity, n.d.). If there is more concentration of enzyme there are more active
sites available for a reaction to occur (Phenix, n.d.). To see the reaction and breakdown of starch
we used Lugol s Iodine Reagent since it turns black in the presence of starch (Bauer and Norman,
2015, p. 92). We placed mixtures of the amylase and starch solutions in each of the wells
containing Lugol s Iodine at 30 second intervals. Depending on what solution was used and how the
amylase broke down the starch, the color change was noted over time. Due to the information about
how concentration affects the reaction rate of an enzyme and substrate, we figured that a lower
concentration of amylase would cause a slower reaction rate meaning that with a

The Ever Changing Definition Of Home
The Ever Changing Definition of Home (change title)
I guess one might call it naivete, but at first, I simply associated home with the single definition
of where an individual lived or as something synonymous to an address. As I progressed into high
school, and moved yet once again, I realized that was not the case. Now I believe home is an
atmosphere created by the people that are surrounding me. I can be anywhere and feel at home
as long as I m with those people. My home is ever changing and developing as new people come
in and out of my life. The unforgettable memories and feelings of comfort and love created by the
people surrounding me are the cornerstone of my idea of home.
My house was teepeed or toilet papered during my last week in California. My older sister and I
both woke up disoriented, to our dog barking. We sleeply opened the front door assuming he had
to pee, but when we stepped out of the house we saw white. There were countless rolls of toilet
paper hanging from the countless number of trees. We stood there stunned. Already frazzled, I
remembered how my mom had warned us that if we wanted to get our security deposit returned on
our rented house, the house would have to be in tip top condition for the inspection. Our house
had never been t ped before. Why did it have to be tped the day of the inspection?
Our backyard was huge, so I marveled at the amount of time, effort, and toilet paper the pranksters
had exhausted to cover the large ground stretching

Disadvantages Of Policy Debate
Policy Debate was the first debate established in the National Verbalization and Debate Sodality. In
Policy Debate there are two teams in a room: The Affirmative Team and the Negative Team. This
commenced the base affirmative versus negative in Lincoln Douglas. Two people are on each team
just as most debates are. Three variants of verbalizations (Constructives, Cross Examinations and
Rebuttals) take place. Each debater gives all three verbalizations. The Constructives, which is eight
minutes, start with the first Affirmative Constructive, withal kenned as the 1AC, which is the base
case made afore every other verbalization that commences and has the substructure of what both
side will be arguing. This is followed by the Cross Examination, which is three Minutes, of the
1AC, which is when the negative side questions the affirmative side and the affirmative must
answer every question and is unable to ask any questions back. Then, the first Negative
Constructive, withal kenned as the 1NC, is presented (this is identically tantamount thing as the
affirmative constructive except conspicuously for the negative side), and the 1NC is Cross
Examined (this is when the negative side is asked and must answer and may not ask questions
back). After all four verbalizers conclude their Constructive Verbalizations and are Cross Examined,
then the Rebuttals, which is five Minutes, commence. A rebuttal is when the affirmative or
negative side is able to rebut any assailments made on their

Chronic Illness Of The American Population
A child is not their disease, neither is their family. However, it is often difficult for them to
disconnect their self from the detrimental effects of it. In spite of the fact that the majority of the
American population appears quite healthy, over 32 million children are currently suffering from a
chronic illness. According to njhealth.org, chronic illness is an illness that may last throughout a
person s life, although the frequency and severity of symptoms can change. Nearly 43% of
American children are currently afflicted with at least 1 of many chronic ailments ranging from
diabetes to cancer. Many of these children may never return to their precedent state of well being;
physically, emotionally, socially, and psychologically. During such horrific times as these it is
important to remember that the children are not the only ones suffering; their family is as well.
Children who are physically ill have a tendency to feel more psychological distress than those who
are not. A decrease in ones physical healthcan lead to and increased risk of depression,
hopelessness, helplessness and anger. Social and relationship issues that are extremely common
amongst patients who are ill also cause an increase in these emotions. Disease has the ability to
ravage the self and outside relationships. It is especially important during times such as these to
remember that ones physical and emotional health is in correlation to one another. Your body

Nonviolent Civil Disobedience
I believe that peaceful resistance to laws positively impacts a free society. It gives citizens the
right to protest against what they believe is wrong without the use of violence. Although it is not
right to purposefully break the law it is better to break the law in a peaceful way rather than in a
way that could bring harm to other people. Civil disobediencecommonly has to do with laws that
conflict with people s moral beliefs. Gandhi used nonviolent civil disobedience to protest racial
laws in South Africa and in India s struggle for independence. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and others
made civil disobedience a main turning point of the Civil Rights Movement. They defied the Jim
Crow laws through sit ins, boycotts, and protests.

Black Box Model Of Consumer Behaviour
The black box model shows the interaction of stimuli, consumer characteristics, and decision
process and consumer responses. It can be distinguished between inter personal stimuli (between
people) or intrapersonal stimuli (within people). The black box model is closely related to the
black box theory of behaviourism, where the focus is not set on the processes inside a consumer,
but the relation between the stimuli and the response of the consumer. The marketingstimuli are
planned and processed by the companies, whereas the environmental stimulus is given by social
factors, based on the economic, political and cultural circumstances of a society (Chuahan, 2013).
The central aim of effective marketing management is to discover what goes on in the mind of the
customer the black box (source).

Similarities Between Frankenstein And The Sorrows Of Young...
In the 19th century, a wave of suicides swept through Europe and the United States. This ripple in
European society was known as the Werther Effect, named after the book, The Sorrows of Young
Werther. The book is picked up by the creature in Frankenstein, and it could be argued that it
causes the creature s suicide along with the many other suicides the book is accused of causing. In
Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, the creature reads The Sorrows of Young Werther by Johann
Wolfgang von Goethe. This novelinfluences the creature s thinking in both positive and negative
ways. The two Gothic novels actually show a variety of similarities. In The Sorrows of Young
Werther, the protagonist, Werther, reads The Odyssey and unconsciously imitates the protagonist.
Some irony is shown when the creature in Frankenstein picks up The Sorrows of Young Werther
and imitates Werther. Both characters misapply the literature they read to their own lives by taking
the desires and aspirations of the main characters of the stories they read as their own. Both Werther

suicide. The Sorrows of Young Werther affected the creature in mainly negative ways. It could be
identified as one of the major causes of the death of the monster because it gave him the idea of
suicide. The monster took Werther s desires and aspirations as his own which led to his downfall.
The few positive effects that the novel had were that it enabled the creature to understand human
emotions better, and it gave him someone to relate to. Overall, The Sorrows of Young Werther

necessary to settle similar disputes. Constructive measures like these are the stepping stones that

traits tend to experience different degrees of subjective well being . . .individuals who are more
extraverted, agreeable, conscientious, and emotionally stable tend to experience greater

(Christopher). The prior events to a time of conflict can affect the way an individual reacts. Such
prior events include, mood, emotion, and behavior. What all of these three traits relate to is,
personality. Someone with a high level of personality or well being find more hope during

Persuasive Essay On Legalize Medical Marijuana
Many medically ill patients experience agonizing pain everyday that they can not easily control
with regular pain medicine, so what s the next best thing? There have been many recent cases
where medical patients have used medical marijuana for therapeutic uses and found that it had
slowed the progression of their disease or helped cure it. Medical marijuana has started to become
more popular with medical communities and researchers. Medical marijuana can affect many
things in a positive way such as financial situations and social aspects, while having benefits on
medical illnesses. Medical marijuana that does not contain the THC drug should be legalized in the
United States because it would provide therapeutic benefits without making the user feel high. The
District of Columbia and approximately thirty states have laws that allow some sort of medical
marijuana use. Since there is about half of the 50 states that have legalized medical marijuana it
would be tough for patients to travel to another state if it is not legalized through the United States.
The United States needs to legalize medical marijuana so that patients who are traveling to
hospitals throughout the country, such as the Mayo Clinic, do not need to worry about restrictions
with their marijuana. If a person traveling to the Mayo Clinic where to get pulled over, they could

An Interview to Compare Adult Learners
The purpose of this 10 minutes interview with three different individuals in age ranges of 20 s, 40

With the use of some questionnaires, the three interviews have shown that in different age ranges

and economic status but, what needs to be learned and the purpose of learning are different
depending on the age of an individual. The ability to keep information within an individual also
differs due to aging. The interview clearly shows that as an individual age, the ability to remember
facts, dates, and names decline and memory storage is not functional as it used to be. Therefore,

you. In the Utah Driver s Handbook it says, Always stay 2 seconds away from the vehicle in front
of you this way there should be no reason to crash into them, there should be plenty of time to
respond if they happen to slam on their brakes. Also the closer you get to the person, the higher the
chances of getting in an accident. I am assuming that most people would not like to crash their
automobile. If I am right, there is no reason that you should be following any closer than

Designing A Twelve Week Support Group For Those Who Have...
Alexis Strong
Final Paper
Terri Nelson
FSW 406
May 5th, 2016
Group Description
I will be designing a twelve week support group for those who have lost someone to suicide. The
purpose of support groups is to help members cope with stressful life events and revitalize existing
coping abilities (Toseland) but the purpose of this specific support group will be to give members
involved a sense of normality and a feeling of belonging. Within such a tragedy it isn t uncommon
to let the grief transcend into a depression or isolation, but it s proven that human relationships (i.e
groups) can provide the needed support for individuals to work through their grief and heal. The
issue addressed will be moving forward after the loss of a loved one.
The group will be closed, as with such personal and delicate content it s important to create trust
and cohesion, which has a better chance of occurring if the group is closed. Cerel (2009) states
that it isn t clear if open ended group membership leads people to be re traumatized by constantly
hearing stories of violent death over and over. Growing together as a limited group can teach
individuals coping techniques and give meaningful support. Flatt (2007), states that commonly
Survivors of Suicide groups often meet anywhere from 1 ВЅ to 2 hours and Wesner (1999) suggest
groups occur weekly. Having this be consistent is crucial.
There are a multitude of overall goals of the group that have to do with individual and societal
perceptions of

The Biofuel And Biomass Industry
Abstract
The biofuel and biomass industry has become potentially more beneficial over the last few
decades. They have considerably reduced the usage of fossil fuels. As the non renewable energy is
being replaced by the renewable energy, new initiatives are proposed for the continuous
development of supply chain network for biofuel energy. The main aim is to determine the optimal
model of supply chain for the biofuel industry, operations of biofuel supply chain, and also design
a reliable supply chain network for the biofuel and biomass industries. Multiple papers have been
discussed in considering various challenges present in the biofuel production market. The key
objective of the paper is to maximize the profit, study the changes in ... Show more content on

Playtex Ad Comparison Essay
Two similar ads were found in People magazine relating to the subject of a woman s menstrual
cycle. Every girl dreads this time of the month, which is why these ads are featured. What kind of
coverage the individual wishes to adhere is completely connected to their daily priorities. It is
important because each Miss has her own opinion and different comfort levels to relate and look
for. There is the Playtex ad, exclaiming the sport level protection that is comfortable, while the
Tampax brand emphasizes relaxing protection anywhere you desire to explore. The Playtex and
Tampax ads attempt to sell tampons and pads to young women. They attract potential buyers by
providing a delightful image in the center of the page. Both brands are complying light colors and
active scenes. The two ads attempt to bring attention that their products insist in comfort, while all
women find it hard to be comfortable during this time. The main titles of the interacting

that it is indeed a women s product. It s noticeable that she skateboards regularly, due to it being

Aristophanes Lysistrata
Lysistrata Reflection
Is Aristophanes Lysistrata an effective form of political protest?
In Ancient Greece during the 5th century BCE, women assumed the role given to them by men,
usually characterizing them as housewives who would rarely leave their residence. The play
Lysistrata, by Aristophanesshows an effective form of political protest by swapping gender roles to
prove the power of lust. In order for the woman in Lysistrata to create an effective social
movement they define the change they wish to see, pressure the opposing force by denying them
what they desire, and effectively reach their end goal. All steps that are key to a persuasive protest.
Lysistrata and the fellow woman of Greece desire to put an end to the Peloponnesian war
occurring throughout their country in order to bring home their husbands. Taking on the leading
role, Lysistrata gathers a large group of woman and asks them, Don t you miss the fathers of your
children when they go off to war? (Lysistrata Line 108 109) By posing this question, Lysistrata
causes the woman to consider stepping outside their gender assumed roles and making a shift in
power. This question defines the change that the woman aspire to achieve. To put an end to a war
torn country and return love into their households. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This causes the males to suffer and pressures them into listening to the commands of woman. In the
time of Aristophanes, the occurrence of woman overpowering men was nearly unheard of, making
this play an empowering force. It s the movements that are willing to take risks, and willing to do
bold action over time, that are the most successful. (L.A. Kauffman) This quote represents the
actions of the woman in Lysistrata. By swearing an oath to, Give up all male penises. (Lysistrata
line 135) The woman pressure their husbands into what they want by stripping them of the powerful

Nelson Mandela
Nelson Mandela s Values
It will be hard to believe if a person says A man who served twenty seven years in prison, turned
out to be one of the greatest presidents our world has seen . Well this did actually happen and this
former president is still living today. Nelson Mandela was born on July 18, 1918 in Transkei, South
Africa, he was a leader of the anti apartheid movement in the 1940s. Mandela was jailed for 27
years for acts of sabotage against the South African state, and shortly after his release from prison
he led a multi racial party for the first time ever in South Africa s history. By doing this he was
elected as the first black/democratic president of South Africa. Throughout his years as a president
he has been widely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout his battle against apartheid and helping to bring democracy to South Africa, Mandela
adopted a democratic leadership style (Johnson). And according to Johnson Democratic leaders set
policies through group discussion and decision, encouraging and helping group members to
interact, requesting the cooperation of others and this was exactly what Mandela did (Johnson).
Mandela s other key value that supported his leadership and democratic style was his strong
disapproval for injustice. Mandela never tolerated injustice; he believed that justice was the only
path to success. For instance, when Mandela got to Robin Island where he was to be imprisoned,
he was told to jog to the prison gate. He firmly refused and started a hunger strike with other
inmates to condemn the condition they were living in. This worked out in their favor and the
conditions improved (Hume). This example highlights Mandela s value for denouncing injustice
and oppression. Nonetheless, Mandela believed Consensus to be the superior decision making
process to build commitment and motivation in group members toward group objectives. Using
Consensus meant that justice would be served at its best when making a decision and Mandela
fully supported this process (Johnson).
Ultimately, Nelson Mandela is viewed as a revolutionary leader for his ability to empower and
motivate others using his strong regard for consensus and the

In order to assess this impact, it was necessary to add email and voice services to the Profile
Configuration and the server named FTP located in the Washington DC subnet. The graphs below
illustrate the impact of background load on point to point throughput and point to point utilization
for the back_load and no_back_load scenarios. The data in these charts is reflective of using the
predefined Email(heavy) application profile metric. Figure 3 Email Point to Point Throughput (bits
/sec) Figure 4 Email Pont to Point Utilization
It s clear that background load has a significant impact on link throughput and utilization. The
simulation without background loading remains steady and relatively flat with throughput at
roughly 2Kbps and link utilization at under 5%. When background load is added, we see a marked
upward trend in utilization and throughput early in the simulation that keeps with our scheme of
incrementally ramping up background load from 19,200 to 32,000 during the first 8 minutes,
followed by a less pronounced continued upward trend over the remainder of the simulation. Link
throughput begins to stabilize at just over 30kbps late in the simulation, while link utilization
approaches 50%. Interestingly, we see a sharp drop in email download response time during the first
seconds of both scenarios even as background load is ramping up at the same time. However, both
scenarios flatten out to a more consistent level as the simulation

Bipolar Disorder Essay
Bipolar disorder also known as manic depression has always been a mystery since the 16th
century. History has shown that it can appear in almost everyone. Bipolar disorder causes mood
swings in energy, thinking, and other behavior. Having a bipolar disorder can be very disabling
(Kapczinski). A study was evaluated and about 1.3% of the U.S population of people suffers
from bipolar disorder. Stressors and environmental influences can trigger and cause a person to go
through numerous episodes. Bipolar disorder is characterized according to the severity of the
stages. According to Kapczinski, there are four different stages that a person with bipolar disorder
can experience. The prognosis of a disorder is different in each particular patient... Show more

Despite the similarities, there are more common symptoms in bipolar depression than it is in
regular depression. For example, bipolar depression has individuals feeling guilty, hopeless, sad,
empty, unpredictable mood swings, and feelings of restlessness. People with bipolar depression
also tend to move very slow, gain weight, and sleep a lot (Hatchett). On the other hand the
hypomania state has led observers to feel that bipolar patients are addicted to their mania. Paranoia
or irritable characteristics begin to manifest in this stage. Hyperactive behavior can sometimes
lead to violence and speech becomes very rapid (Hirschfeld, 1995). A mixed episode is when
you have both manic and depressive symptoms at the same time. According to Hirschfield, Those
afflicted are a special risk because there is a combination of hopelessness, agitation, and anxiety
that makes them feel like they, could jump out of their skin (Hirschfeld, 1995). Up to 50% of all
patients with mania have a mixture of depressed moods. This episode is considered very
dangerous because individuals feel as if they could commit suicide.
There is more to the treatment of bipolar disorder than medication, but the medication Lithium has
been the primary treatment since the 1960 s. In four studies

Chechens, Belarusians Chuvashes, Kazakhs, Buryats, Tuvinians, Yakutians and Bashkirs. The
official language in Russia is Russian. Russian language uses a Cyrillic alphabet, which includes 33
letters. The alphabet looks similar to the Roman alphabet, but it has different pronunciations. Many
of the smaller ethnic groups living in the urban areas speak Russian. However, many of the rural
minorities speak their own language at home or within their ethnic group to maintain their own
heritage. Other known languages spoken in Russia are Tarter, Chucash and Udmurt. Once the fall
of the communist rule, many of the schools began to teach the language that was dominant in each
particular ethnic group and region. Students are increasingly studying other languages such as
English, French, German, Spanish and Chinese, but they are not required to learn other languages.
In 1917, with the October Revolution, communists discouraged all religion worshiping. At that
time, arresting religious leaders of all faiths or, to the extreme, executing them was to encourage

The Success Of A Company
INTRODUCTION
Defining a successful organisations is a difficult task with a lot of variables that have to be
considered. The outcome of a company s strategies targeting to achieve specific goals cannot
always be translated and be acknowledged as being successful. This paper is focusing on what
success is for a company, the different areas that a company can achieve success, regarding the
goals that are set, and through Coca Cola s sustainability report will try to demonstrate which and
how performance indicators are used to form a successful organisation.
DEFINE SUCCESS
To define or measure success, firstly the organisational purpose must be decided. The purpose of
a company is not always to become more profitable. Profit provides the organisation with the
capability to compensate stakeholder s expectations. As the corporations operates within society it
should be also be concerned with societal issues and become more social responsible. Many argue
that, financial success of an organisation benefits society, by providing new placements, upgrading
the status of the area they operate and paying more taxes accordingly to their profit. As Milton
Friedman argues, the purpose of an organisation is to maximize profit, and through the company s
financial success show social responsibility, as society can also be benefit from it. Therefore
employees should focus their efforts according to the owners interests and not acting in the interest
of someone other like society.

  • 2. The Reflection Of Student Disconnection In The Class Student disconnection is like a virus that spreads to everyone in the class, just one student with their head down and you soon have a pandemic of uninterested children. It s vital to stop this disengagement as soon as it appears to keep it localized to one student. Currently, I am the long term substitute for a High School Math II class featuring mostly tenth graders. At times it s difficult to hold the attentionof a room filled with snarky teenagers. I use a variety of techniques to keep my students engaged drawling from high quality instruction, classroom management skills, and our teacher/studentrelationship. Every day the lesson plan for my class is fast paced and as exciting as possible. The idea is to keep them busy the entire class to avoid disengagement. If we are moving at a quick pace it s harder for students to zone out or they miss a ton of information. Next, I utilize different types of materials to explain the topic of the day. I may start by giving notes and lecturing, then move on to a video where the same idea is communicated more visually. Changing up instruction methods seems to hold a student s attention better than if I simply drone on lecturing. I also like to switch up activities, class may begin with a lecture for fifteen minutes, then move on to a worksheet or some online learning. Changing activities provide a natural brain break, although at times I implant those by telling a joke or allowing a student to share a story. Classroom management ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Examples Of Teenage Rebellion In Catcher In The Rye Holden Caulfield: Teenage Rebellion Phony is defined as a fake or an ingenuine person, this word was used most often by no other than Holden Caulfield, the most recognizable teenager in American literature. To truly understand who Holden Caulfield is, we must take a trip back in time to the 50s. The 1950swas a decade of prosperity and conformity, life in the 50s was simply peaceful. However, in the summer of 1951, J.D Salinger published a book entitled The Catcher in the Rye , the main protagonist of the novel, Holden Caulfield, described the 1950s as a disgusting and phony era. Holden himself is depicted as a teenager disillusioned by the adult world. Holden finds the hypocrisy of the adult world to be almost intolerable, with this mindset, he alienates himself from the society and he soon realized that he wants to become a catcher in the rye , which is to be a guardian of children, protecting them from the ugliness of adulthood and the process of maturity. The fuel that drove Holden to become who he is today was that of his childhood sibling loss, after the tragedy, Holden became desperate and infuriated. Almost 70 years later, Holden Caulfield still resonates in American culture, this leaves reviews questioning, why was the novel so meaningful and popular? Salinger s universal idea of alienation and phoniness gave rise to the novel, never has anyone seen such a controversial book, but no one realized that Salinger s message is pointed toward the faults of the American society. Throughout the novel, Salinger provided numerous clues indicating his message to the readers about his belief about the American society. One clue is when Holden mentions the phoniness in the adult world, he can t help but judge a person based on his or her speech and appearance. For example, in the novel, Holden decided that he is not fond of a businessman, therefore, he states: You should see old Ossenburger... He started off with about fifty corny jokes, just to show us what a regular guy he was...That killed me... He was telling us all about what a swell guy he was, what a hot shot and all. I can just see the big phony bastard shifting into first gear and asking Jesus to send him a few more stiffs (Salinger 23). From this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of Jonathan Swift s Gulliver s Travels Jonathan Swift was a writer known for his use of satire: the application of humor, irony, exaggeration, and ridicule to expose and criticize. At a glance, the novel seems to be a travel log of Lemuel Gulliver s adventures, but is primarily a work of satire. Through Gulliver s Travels, Swift strives to satirize the eighteenth century humanity. Swift was titled a misanthrope, a hater of humanity, his misanthropy rose from his disappointment in mankind. Swift utilizes Gulliver in satirizing the population, which he was disappointed with, in each voyage of the novel. The satire used in Gulliver s Travels is used to reveal how Swift regarded mankind, as societies who did not exist to their utmost potential to be great but were instead exhibiting the frills of greatness. Swift was recognized as a man of intelligence and used his intellect to display the anarchy, corruption, and confusion of the eighteenth century England. He saw the idiocy and the vices behind the faГ§ade of reason and common sense. His intelligence was capable to of identifying evil in all its forms and areas of presence and he could not endure the lack of reason in any aspect of human existence. His being of displeased with the ways of people, Swift felt accountable to try to reform it. Corruption in religion was vigorously criticized along with the impractical use of scientific knowledge in his works. Swift felt that man could never achieve perfection. He frequently used a mask in his writing, hiding behind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Marjane Satrapi strives to find this feeling of self worth and the satisfaction of being a woman in Iran as she grows up during her war torn childhood in her bildungsroman, Persepolis. Marjane experiences both positive and negative moments throughout the memoir such as growing up alone in Austria, speaking against womens dress codes, and her constant struggle to make her grandma proud, all which help her learn independence and help form her into a strong feminist woman. As Marjane experiences new ideas and culture once she moves to Austria as a teenager, she finds that there are many things she doesn t agree with or understand. Fitting in as a teenager is hard enough without having to deal with being stranded all alone, which is exactly what Satrapi had to endure for years on end. During those years of growth, Marjane ran into many obstacles including her relationship with boys and smoking. One of Marjane s first friends that she made while living in Austria was the influence for much of her confusion when it came to social activities. Marjane was surprised when she attended a party and it was the opposite of what parties were like in Iran where there was dancing and food, instead people preferred to lie around and smoke (Satrapi 185). Almost everything Marjane experienced in Austria was against how she was raised in Iran. Marjane thought to herself, And then, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Gang System And The Task System During the time of slavery, planters and plantation organizers had two types of labor systems. The Gang System and the Task System. The two differed greatly in that the gang system tasked slaves to work all day, from sunrise to sunset, allowing for breaks for lunch and dinner. Louisiana Sugar Plantations provided the most typical example of the gang system in the American South. Slaves were expected to labor up to twenty four hours straight during harvest periods. Heat exhaustion and accidents were common as many slaves were worked to death under the gang system. This system is characterized by its brutality and inefficiency. Whereas under the task system, the slaves would be given certain tasks to complete for the day. Tasks were often measured in terms of an acre, additional on rice plantations in tidal floodplains, the work was divided into sections as sectioned by irrigation ditches. The slaves would work more efficiently to complete these tasks in order to enjoy the free time afforded to them by their masters. This system allowed slaves to work for their own benefit. They could hunt, fish and work their own plots, thereby improving their nutritional intake. Slaves could even sell surplus food in the local markets as well for a modest amount of profit. The task system boosted short range performance. When a slave finished his work he was done, but if a slave worked over his time, the master paid for it. • 10. Disney Gender Roles For many years, Disney has made fairy tale films that are full of lovable characters that children cannot seem to get enough of. The traits of many of the characters remain great models for children to watch and learn from. Adults tend to see a bit more than just the good qualities they embody, which leads to the realization that these films are far from perfect. Upon closer inspection, Disney films embrace patriarchal and sexist ideologies when it comes to their characters something that Disney has been nearly successful in eradicating in their most recent films. From the earliest films to the most recent, the portrayal of genderroles, of both the hero/heroine and the villain, has changed for the better. The earliest princesses, Snow White,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In response to criticism and to avoid being called sexist, Disney started using more male villains. According to Amy Davis, there exist several different types of male villain: pirate kings, enemies of the earth, magically dangerous, criminally dangerous, comic, and idiotic. Ratcliffe, from Pocahontas, is an enemy of the earth villain and concerned only with what wealth he can gain from the land. The Shadow Man, from The Princess and the Frog, is a magically dangerous villain and a practitioner of voodoo. He exerts his magical power to manipulate other people to do what he wishes, and his primary goal consists of becoming ridiculously wealthy. Shan yu, from Mulan, is a criminally dangerous and arrogant villain with a grandiose sense of self who is intent on conquering the whole of China. Hans, from Frozen, is probably a criminally dangerous villain, although he lacks mention in Davis s book. Being the youngest in his family, he feels as though he does not get anything he believes he deserves, so he manipulates Anna to gain access to her kingdom and wealth. Gaston, from Beauty and the Beast, is a comic villain composed of more brawn than brain. He only cares about acquiring wealth, a category that also includes Belle. • 13. The Differences Between Dementia And Alzheimer s Disease When a lot of people think about dementia or Alzheimer s disease, they usually use the two interchangeably and think they have to do with memory. It is true that they have to do with memory, but there are major differences between dementia and Alzheimer s disease. Misconceptions and lack of knowledge can lead to death or injury, which is why initiatives like Healthy People 2020 are so important. Dementias and Alzheimer s affect a person s daily life in many ways and it can be dangerous or deadly if not diagnosed and dealt with properly. It is important that there is an increase in people and their caregivers who are aware of the diagnosisand a decrease in preventable hospitalizations. Before explaining why this initiative is so important, it is necessary to explain the differences between dementia and Alzheimer s disease. Dementia is actually not a disease. It s a bunch of symptoms and is seen more as an umbrella term ( ). It is generally used to describe the loss or decline of cognitive functioning to the point where it affects the person s daily life. Dementia occurs in people who have diseases such as ( ). It is generally seen as an elder problem that develops as someone ages, but this is not necessarily true. Most people who have dementia or Alzheimer s are 65 or older, but there is a type of dementia that affects younger people. The black placement in the page brings attention to the areas framed by light. The figures are the focal point in both panels. In the first panel, the black placement weights the bed as it recedes into the floor, but then is balanced out by the cast shadow of the wall in the top left corner. The second panel has a similar effect from the bed black placement. However, the face on the poster on the wall is staring right at the viewer, and he becomes the focal point of the room instead of the figures in the bed. The hatch direction gives form to all the surfaces of the room. The bed covers specifically benefit from the directional hatching in the folds. The forms also benefit from the directionality. Q: is it alright to name an Indian kid Ajmal Amir Kasab? Q: is it okay to name a kid living in America Osama bin Laden? One of the lessons of history is that nothing is often a good thing to do and always a clever thing to say. If we do not learn from the mistakes of history, we are doomed to repeat them. When it comes to the lessons of history there are doubtless many things we could aspire to learn. Some of those would be more practically useful, in terms of contributing to the normal and decent functioning of well meaning societies than others. One lesson of history is that religion has many lives, and a habit of resurrection. How often in the past have God and religion died and been reborn! Atheism ran wild in the India of Buddha s youth, and Buddha himself founded a religion without a god; after his death Buddhism developed a complex theology including gods, saints, and hell. Effects of Concentration on Enzymatic Activity of Salivary Amylase Rose Cruz Arapahoe Community College The purpose of this lab was to see if there was a relationship in the amount of concentration of salivary amylase to the amount of time it took to break down starch. To determine if varying concentrations affected the reaction time of the breakdown of starch, we used 4 different dilutions of salivary amylase and used 2 controls (positive/negative). Amylase is an enzyme responsible for breaking down starch into sugars. It is hypothesized that a lower concentration of amylase would cause the breakdown of starch to take a longer period of time or a slower reaction rate as opposed to a higher concentration of amylase. The results of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the concentration of the reactant (substrate) changes and is increased while the enzyme concentration stays the same, the higher the concentration, the lower the reaction rate will be for the enzyme to break down the increased amount of reactant (Factors affecting Enzyme Activity, n.d.). The same applies for if the concentration of enzyme changes and is increased while other factors stay the same. The higher the concentration of enzyme, the higher the reaction rate will be as the enzyme breaks down the reactant. In this experiment concentration affects the enzymatic activity increasing or decreasing the amount of concentration of amylase in a solution (Factors affecting Enzyme Activity, n.d.). If there is more concentration of enzyme there are more active sites available for a reaction to occur (Phenix, n.d.). To see the reaction and breakdown of starch we used Lugol s Iodine Reagent since it turns black in the presence of starch (Bauer and Norman, 2015, p. 92). We placed mixtures of the amylase and starch solutions in each of the wells containing Lugol s Iodine at 30 second intervals. Depending on what solution was used and how the amylase broke down the starch, the color change was noted over time. Due to the information about how concentration affects the reaction rate of an enzyme and substrate, we figured that a lower concentration of amylase would cause a slower reaction rate meaning that with a ... Alexis Strong Final Paper Terri Nelson FSW 406 May 5th, 2016 Group Description I will be designing a twelve week support group for those who have lost someone to suicide. The purpose of support groups is to help members cope with stressful life events and revitalize existing coping abilities (Toseland) but the purpose of this specific support group will be to give members involved a sense of normality and a feeling of belonging. Within such a tragedy it isn t uncommon to let the grief transcend into a depression or isolation, but it s proven that human relationships (i.e groups) can provide the needed support for individuals to work through their grief and heal. The issue addressed will be moving forward after the loss of a loved one. The group will be closed, as with such personal and delicate content it s important to create trust and cohesion, which has a better chance of occurring if the group is closed. Cerel (2009) states that it isn t clear if open ended group membership leads people to be re traumatized by constantly hearing stories of violent death over and over. Growing together as a limited group can teach individuals coping techniques and give meaningful support. Flatt (2007), states that commonly Survivors of Suicide groups often meet anywhere from 1 ВЅ to 2 hours and Wesner (1999) suggest groups occur weekly. Having this be consistent is crucial. Throughout his battle against apartheid and helping to bring democracy to South Africa, Mandela adopted a democratic leadership style (Johnson). And according to Johnson Democratic leaders set policies through group discussion and decision, encouraging and helping group members to interact, requesting the cooperation of others and this was exactly what Mandela did (Johnson). Mandela s other key value that supported his leadership and democratic style was his strong disapproval for injustice. Mandela never tolerated injustice; he believed that justice was the only path to success. For instance, when Mandela got to Robin Island where he was to be imprisoned, he was told to jog to the prison gate. He firmly refused and started a hunger strike with other inmates to condemn the condition they were living in. This worked out in their favor and the conditions improved (Hume). This example highlights Mandela s value for denouncing injustice and oppression. Nonetheless, Mandela believed Consensus to be the superior decision making process to build commitment and motivation in group members toward group objectives. Using Consensus meant that justice would be served at its best when making a decision and Mandela fully supported this process (Johnson). The data in these charts is reflective of using the predefined Email(heavy) application profile metric. Figure 3 Email Point to Point Throughput (bits /sec) Figure 4 Email Pont to Point Utilization It s clear that background load has a significant impact on link throughput and utilization. The simulation without background loading remains steady and relatively flat with throughput at roughly 2Kbps and link utilization at under 5%. When background load is added, we see a marked upward trend in utilization and throughput early in the simulation that keeps with our scheme of incrementally ramping up background load from 19,200 to 32,000 during the first 8 minutes, followed by a less pronounced continued upward trend over the remainder of the simulation. Link throughput begins to stabilize at just over 30kbps late in the simulation, while link utilization approaches 50%.
