John Keats Homer, Fears, Nightingale, And Urn
The Power of Keats Poems
(An Analysis of Keats Poems called Homer, Fears, Nightingale, and Urn)
John Keats was a romantic poet in the early 1800s. He lived from 1975 to 1821, a rather short lived
life and died at the young age of just twenty five. Although Keats died at a young age, the years that
he lived he created a huge impact on society with his poems. Keats developed an interest in poetry and
reading at a young age, setting him up to become an avid poet. John Keats expressed one major
message in each of the poems called On First Looking Into Chapman s Homer, When I Have Fears
That I May Cease to Be, Ode to a Nightingale, and Ode on a Grecian Urn.
In the poem On First Looking Into Chapman s Homer, John Keats emphasizes the message of
exploration, amazement, and ambition. Keats, a typical romantic poet, is intrigued with nature. In the
first four lines of the poem, Keats is searching for something, making the reader ponder. Yet did I
never breathe its pure serene (line 7). Line seven expresses the beauty of the poem and reveals how it
isn t the content of the poem, rather the language. Keats expresses amazement in this poem by
implying the moment that he read Homer s work. He is truly moved by his work and is truly interested
in the language and imagery of Homer s work. It inspired John Keats to write this poem. Ambition
was a key characteristic of John Keats. He was always looking forward to new and better projects that
urged him to become a better poet.

Threats Of Net Neutrality
Threats
Net Neutrality: There has been a recent push by the government to limit the freedom of the internet
which could affect streaming services. In a nutshell, net neutrality is the idea that all Internet traffic
should be treated equally and that internet providers like Comcast, AT T and Verizon can t be allowed
to play favorites based on business deals. Specifically, they can t block or slow down some websites
and services but not others (forcing sites to pay extra to not have that happen to them). It s about
keeping the Internet a level playing field, the way it s been since the internet began. If net neutrality
were to pass, then customer s would either have their internet usage limited by providers and may

How Graffiti Has Changed Over Time
Guillermo Corte
Professor Peppard
English 110 86
04 May 2015 How Graffiti has Changed over Time. Graffiti is the act of inscribing or drawing on
walls for the purpose of communicating a message to the general public. The term comes from the
Greek term Graphein, which means to write. Graffiti has been around since men first started drawing
pictures in caves. However, the focus of this paper is not on pre historic or amateur graffiti, but on the
modern hip hop graffiti movement that began in the late 1960 s. The graffiti has two versions: a legal
aspect, in which artists are able to spray paintings and murals of great spectacle and technical. The
illegal side, is where they express their painting in public spaces such as schools, metros, trains,
posters, and wall Streets, etc. Graffiti are a poor choice for people who practiced this objective
because it deny people in follow good roads which is seen a bad self expression and they also may be
expensive, putting pressure on low income families. Controversial, secrecy, and taboo are some points
that connect with graffiti argument where graffiti has changed over the years.
The difference between art and vandalism is the vandal do not respect for another individual
properties. However, society still discriminates against very talented men and women who put their
talents to the public. These are considered as vandals because they damage private property and
pollute the environment in any way. This

The Nature of Solitude in Chopin s Novel, The Awakening
The Nature of Solitude in Chopin s Novel, The Awakening
The name of the piece was something else, but she called it Solitude. When she heard it there came
before her imagination the figure of a man standing beside a desolate rock on the seashore. He was
naked. His attitude was one of hopeless resignation as he looked toward a distant bird winging its
flight away from him. (47)
All along the white beach, up and down, there was no living thing in sight. A bird with a broken wing
was beating the air above, reeling, fluttering, circling disabled down, down to the water...when she
was there beside the sea, absolutely alone, she cast the unpleasant, pricking garments from her, and for
the first time in her life she stood naked in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The word desolate is used to describe the rock, offering up connotations of a barren, dismal
lifelessness. The figure of the man is naked, or exposed and defenseless. His demeanor reflects
hopeless resignation as he views a distant bird winging away from him. Here resignation can be taken
to mean an unresisting acceptance of something as inescapable and as a surrender. Looking at this
passage in this light, I cannot help but connect it with Robert. After finally vocalizing his love for
Edna, Robert is in a way naked, free of the pretenses of socially conscious manners. Following this
admission, however, Robert leaves off waiting for Edna, gives up on fulfilling his love, due, I think, in
many ways to the social consequences that this would surely bring. Thus Robert too is hopelessly
resigned to social moires which influence him to let his forbidden love wing away from him. This
passage then foreshadows both Robert s resignation and Edna s own experience at the end of the
novel.
The second passage repeats several of the same images. On the beach there is no living thing in sight
and Edna is absolutely alone. Thus the desolation and solitude from the first passage reappear. The
figure of the bird is also depicted again, only in this instance the bird has a broken wing and reel[s]
down, disabled towards the water, closer to the figure of Edna

may give a person antibodies against the diseases, but there is no way to control the amount. If there is
a low amount of antibodies, than the person is likely to develop the disease. This information relates to
my TED talk because vaccines are a problem and harm the body. Because of how society views them,
people believe that they can develop immunity against diseases which is not the case. This will

Comparing Dreams In Death Of A Salesman And Fences
In Death of a Salesman and Fences there are many similar things happening between the characters of
both plays. There are many hopes and dreams that are either realistic or wild hopes, regardless none of
the hopes and dreams actually come true. That then leads to affecting the relationships between every
character and usually negatively affecting the hopes and dreams of the next generation while being the
cause behind all of the conflicts that go on and become the reason that the fathers and sons do not get
along. Both plays have extremely forgiving wives, and son(s) that they do not know how to connect to
them so they end up ruining their relationships with them.
Within Death of a Salesman there are many different hopes and dreams between both Willy and Biff.
There hopes and dreams at times go back and forth between being realistic and wild hopes that are so
out there for them that they will never happen, and then goes on to fester until it drives at least Willy
out of his mind because of his secrets as well as the fact that he cannot seem to reach his dream. I
think the things that ate Willy up so bad were the secrets that he had been keeping from his wife
mainly the affair he had years ago. The affair seems to be the root of a lot of the issues that Willy is
facing throughout the play. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Lomax and Fellow Prisoners are Treated Essay
How Lomax and Fellow Prisoners are Treated
In this essay I will be looking at ways in which Lomax conveys how he and his fellow prisoners are
treated here in this passage from the book. To show evidence of this I will select quotes which show
choices of form, style, vocabulary and narrative viewpoint. Overall I aim to highlight the ways in
which the attitudes and values are conveyed to the reader.
Lomax Perfectly describes his transition from a P.O.W camp to Outram
Gail. What our captors were in fact doing was consigning us to a lower circle of hell . This extremely
poignant statement shows use of imagery in a way that stands out to the reader. He uses lower circle of
hell , which is a simile to emphasize the absurdity of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is mostly from the viewpoint of Lomax now, as an old man who can look back and comment on
it with toned down emotion and consideration.
Moving on to the use of adjectives which Lomax has liberally used throughout the first paragraph we
get the impression that there was no pre meditated violence or planned torture, it was just neglect of
the most damaging kind. some of his colleagues were bored, slovenly and brutal . Both bored and
slovenly are adjectives that describe well the casual attitude of the guards. I would imagine that the
attitudes of these guards were strongly disliked by Lomax morals. He doesn t believe in laziness, to
him every thing must have a purpose and he likes to carefully consider and plan any thing he does. I
cannot imagine that this lax, thoughtless behaviour impressed him much.
Further on in the second paragraph there is more evidence of imagery, and how Lomax uses it to good
effect. cradling those frail creatures of skin and bone in his own emaciated arms . This comes across
strongly in many ways; firstly he is implying that these creatures have taken on a kind of sub human
form through their illness and horrific neglect and deprivation. Secondly the man looking after them is
also rather emaciated . A rather juxtaposed statement as the carer is almost as weak and sick as whom
he is caring for. The descriptive

To What Extent Has Modern Liberalism Departed from...
There are huge differences between classical and modern liberalism and as a result classical liberals
believe that modern liberals have not stayed true to initial ideas posed by the likes of John Locke
given that modern liberals have embraced collectivism while classical liberals favoured pure
individualism. But they are fundamentally both forms of liberalism so are united in their belief of
freedom and rights of the individual but they have slightly different views on the type of freedom they
support.
Classical liberalism has a belief in utilitarianism first posed by Jeremy Bentham, this is where
individuals make tiny calculations about whether their actions will maximise pleasure or minimise
pain . This is an egotistical form of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
T.H. Green argued that freedom is the ability of the individual to develop individuality and this is a
positive thing. This is thus done through self fufillment and pushing one s own knowledge. Positive
freedom places emphasis on the individual flourishing rather than survival of the fittest so therefore
the state should offer equal opportunities to all. This has seen modern liberals support the welfare state
whereas classical liberals focused on standing on your own feet. But, this is not totally different to
core liberal beliefs. The state only intervenes to ensure equality such as education and health. Modern
liberals defend the welfare state on the basis of equality of opportunity. The welfare state has
attempted to address issues such as idleness and want and squalor , named by the Beveridge Report by
William Beveridge. Overall, Modern liberals believe in providing an equal playing field to help the
individual flourish in society rather than the individual just battling for themselves.
This belief in some state intervention and positive freedom has lead liberals of modern times to a
belief in welfare and economic management. Modern liberals support economic management,
proposed first by John Maynard Keynes, who argued that governments could manage their economies
in order to thrive. They believe in a mixed economy where you sometimes must tax and spend and yet
other times you

GENESIS AND ANCIENT MYTHS OF THE NEAR EAST
When one approaches the biblical text, it is important to explore the cultural context in which the text
occurs. With regard to the Book of Genesis, it is important to examine the writing with other
contemporary works of similar geography and topics. The people of ancient Mesopotamia, where the
oldest civilizations originated, produced a number of stories of creation and natural occurrences. It is
important to note that many of the stories of the Sumerians, Akkadians and Hebrews began as oral
traditions as the events they depict predate writing, so it is difficult to date these works on the basis of
when these prehistoric myths were initiated. Comparison to writings contemporary to the people of
Israel, can offer a deeper understanding of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just as there existed beings outside of creation in the Enuma Elish, the Hebrew God was present prior
to the formation of the world. As the universe becomes defined in the following stages, the
development described in each of the stories show a resemblance in events and the order in which they
occurred. It is important to note that light existed, in both stories, independent of celestial bodies.
Next, in same order, the sky and ground are created, followed by luminaries or the sun, moon and
stars. The fact that the sequence of the creation stories is nearly identical can hardly be accidental
according to some scholars. Subsequently, man is created with elements of divinity, given the task of
working the soil . At the conclusion of each creation story, the deities rest from their work. While it is
necessary to refrain from exaggerating the influence found in these similarities, it is equally essential
to remain open to the understanding that these works emerged within a similar conceptual world .
Though many similarities in the creation stories of Genesis and the Enuma Elish, the divergences are
much more far reaching and significant . Unlike the gods of depicted in the Enuma Elish who were
coexistent and coeternal with the comic matter , the Hebrew God is transcendent and separate from the
substance of the cosmos, having Himself created it. While the Hebrew God exists in eternity past,

Why Is It Ok To Lie
People aged 18 to 29 were among the groups most likely to say lying was sometimes ok. Lying can
sometimes be ok when used for a good purpose. In article 1, It s the Truth: Americans Conflicted
about Lying , it states an obvious example is when you re lying to protect someone from serious harm.
This quote from Article 1 suggests that when someone is in need of help it is ok to lie. The quote also
makes you think of how lying can benefit someone other than yourself. As said in article 3, Brad
Blanton: Honestly tell the Truth , it states ...we shouldn t manipulate the truth except for rare times if
you re hiding Anne Frank in your attic because her life is in danger. Article 3 informs, or suggests, you

How Exercise And Different Body Positions Essay
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment was to become familiar with the electrocardiograph to help us
determine the heart electrical activity. As well as, to observe how exercise and different body
positions(conditions) can affect the activity of the heart.
Introduction
Trained professionals can look at the EKG tracing and determine if the heart is normal or if the heart
is abnormal. An ECG records the electrical activity of the heart. The heart produces tiny electrical
impulses which spread through the heart muscle to make the heart contract (Kenny, 2015). There are
two different types of cells. Autorhythmic (electrical) cell begins electrical activity and triggers
contractile fiber, and contractile (myocardial) generates force to pump blood. With each heartbeat the
cardiac system starts with the pacemaker (called the SA node) that conducts electricity. The electrical
current travels from the SA node and signals the atria to contract. Then into the Antrioventucular node,
which signals the ventricles. Eventually, into a bundle of his, left and right bundle branches, and lastly
Purkinje fibers. Purkinje fibers then stimulate the contractile fibers. In addition, the EKG
(electrocardiogram) illustrates a series of waves and flat lines (isoelectric) usually seen on computer
monitors. Waves represent electrical activity through the heart and the physical events that take place
in the heart, systole (contraction occurs and blood pumps into the arteries) and diastole (blood

Pardoners Tale, Chaucer, Canterbury Essays
The Pardoner s Subconscious Character
quot; The Pardoner s Tale, quot; by Geoffrey Chaucer, makes evident the parallel between the internal
emotions of people and the subconscious exposure of those emotions. This particular story, from The
Canterbury Tales, is a revealing tale being told by a medieval pardoner to his companions on a journey
to Canterbury. Though the Pardoner s profession is to pardon and absolve the sins of people, he
actually lives in constant violation of sins such as gluttony, gambling, and, most importantly, avarice.
The Pardoner does feel guilt and advocates not to commit avarice; he exclaims, quot; Radix malorum
est Cupiditas, quot; (line 426) as his theme more than once. Because he ... Show more content on

The old man is the guide to spiritual and physical death, as is easily seen by the deaths of the three
rioters. Thus, the old man looks of death: quot;Lo how I vanysshe, flessh, and blood, and skyn! quot;
(Line 732). On the other hand, the Pardoner s profession is to absolve sinners and steer them towards
life; he guides people to spiritual and even physical life! Therefore, he personifies all that is pure and
innocent, such as a youthful and innocent boy. Both, with this physical aid, do good jobs of preaching
to people to get their desired results.
The eager minds of the people and the skill of the two preachers are what lead the people to either life
or death. It is obvious that the Pardoner does not actually use sacred relics to cure anything:
quot;Relikes been they, as wenen they echoon / Thanne have I in latoun a sholder boon / Which that
was of an hooly Jewes sheep. quot; (Lines 349 51). He has actually quot;cured quot; those who come
to him seeking salvation and pardon. This mindset, with the addition of the Pardoner s great skill in
making himself sound so innocent and pure, is what actually cures the people. The people just need
something tangible, like the fake relics, to hold on to and believe in to be quot;cured quot;. Again, the
same is true for the old man. The three rioters that come to him are already in search of and eager to
find Death, as opposed to life or salvation. When the old man points them in the right

Hurricanes And Its Impact On The United States
Hurricanes have affected the Caribbean islands for many centuries but particularly in the 19th century.
During the 1840 s Cuba was affected by three hurricanes that all happened within four years of each
other in 1842, 1844, and 1846. Many scholars have looked over these hurricanes in Cuba as not really
having much of an in depth affect on Cuba s life and history but just as being hurricanes. But Louis A.
Pérez Jr. a professor and scholar, labeled these 19th century hurricanes as a flash point to look at Cuba
s history from multiple angles. saw the 1842, 1844, and 1846 hurricanes as being more than just
storms by using multiple resources like the Archivo Nacional de Cubaa, Havana, encyclopedias, such
as the Encyclopedia of Hurricanes, Typhoons, and Cyclones by David Longshore (New York, 1998),
and descriptive chronologies by David L. Niddrie and David M. Ludlow to name a few. By reviewing
and using all of these resources, Louis A. Pérez concluded that the 1840 s hurricanes had an effect on
agriculture, social relations, and the overall national identity of Cuba.
The Cuban coffee, tobacco, and sugar productions transformed in the 19th century due to the
hurricanes of 1842, 1844, and 1846. The productions of coffee, tobacco, and sugar prior to the 1840 s
hurricanes were profitable businesses. Many Cuban farmers saw the productions as a great way to
grow and to invest in the future. But once the 1844 hurricane hit Cuba, many farmers were left
completely devastated as the

Surrogate Motherhood
In the past adoption was the only alternative for infertile women who wished to have children.
Advances in technology however have created new options for women who have a defective uterus or
defective ovaries. Two alternatives that are gaining popularity are straight surrogacy and host
surrogacy. In straight surrogacy, or traditional surrogacy, the surrogate mother is impregnated with the
sperm of the intended father by way of artificial insemination. In these cases, the surrogate mother not
only carries the child but is genetically linked to the child as well. She however relinquishes her role
of social mother to the intended mother. In host surrogacy the intended parents produce an embryo
through in vitro fertilization, which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such extreme cases however are rare and for the most part surrogacy is successful, with problems
being minimal. In fact research shows most cases are successful. In the largest and most representative
study of surrogate mothers so far, 34 women were interviewed approximately one year after they had
given birth. After handing over the child, eleven of the woman experienced only mild difficulties, one
reported moderate difficulty, and the rest reported not having any difficulties. After a year only two
reported experiencing occasional mild difficulties, while the rest reported none. In none of the cases
did any of the woman report feeling that the child was like their own. As it was put by one of the
woman, she never viewed it as handing over the child, instead she considered she was handing back
the child. Surrogate mothers often report feeling a positive sense of self worth, that seeing their
commissioning couple s faces once the child is born makes the whole process worthwhile. Surrogacy
has not only benefited many couples hoping to have children, but surrogate mothers wishing to give
the gift of life to a child as well. Surrogacy however has also raised ethical questions in determining
who claims the right as the legal parent of a child, sometimes creating problems that can be difficult to
resolve. Surrogacy should therefore be

Summary Of Kenneth Slessor s North Country
Through the immersion of one in a variety of physical environments, the manipulation of genre, form
and perspective presents a polysemic representation of a diverse range of landscapes, in turn allowing
responders to develop complex understandings into the human psyche. Specifically, through the
interwoven utilization of complex allusions and personalized outlooks Alain De Botton s The Art Of
Travel shapes humanities greater knowledge of traveling s impact on the human behavior and
perception. Likewise, this notion is extended amongst Kenneth Slessor s minimalistic, poetic piece
North Country in which the composer highlights man s dichotomous relationship with the physical
world, and how ongoing, differentiated experiences cultivate interpersonal growth and develop
individualized standpoints towards the wider globe. Consequently, both texts elicit portrayals of
innumerable landscapes, which foreground the intricacies of civilization through the construction of a
piece that reveals the subjectivity of our human mentalities today.
Recollecting empowers the individual to delve deeper into meaningful encounters that assist in
developing identity whether it be from a reminisced, imaginative or realistic. Illustrating this analogy
is Botton s AOT through its alteration of the basic novel structure to fully capture landscapes as the
product of personal perception, all whilst challenging the reader to reconsider the true sense of these
places and their everlasting impact on

An Arundel Tomb by Philip Larkin literary criticism
An Arundel Tomb is about a Tomb. The people this statue represents are Richard and Eleanor
FitzAlan. The poem is about love, and how it hasn t always meant the same thing and what it meant to
the couple, the people then, and the people now. It was also about death. It was written in 1956 but not
published until 1964 in Philip Larkin s The Whitsun weddings . The author uses slant rhymes Puns
and to prove his point. The poem is about what a man sees when he looks at a sculpture. What it
meant to him and what it meant to the couple. The speaker thinks the statues show love, then He starts
to question if the statue even shows love. There is a slant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Larkin said this of his own work Love isn t stronger than death just because statues hold hands for 600
years. We see with his other drafts of this poem he wanted us to think it is not true with the qualifying
he put there. He wrote Love isn t stronger than death just because statues hold hands for 600 years. On
his draft. IN a way much of what the speaker says is actually true. The holding of hnds is new before
1840 they were not even together they were separate.
The poem is also about death. It was the last poem in the book the whitsun weddings Which has
meaning in itself it was the poem the book ended in or died. Maybe it was put at the end because it
was not his favorite one might say? Well he had this poem spoken at his funeral. So the placement and
his own life shows that this poem was about death. These people s culture Any way we decide to
perceive this art work is what will be remembered. This also shows that the book the whitsun
weddings should be read in the order the author puts the poem in. Why did the poet put the poem in
that specificate place in the book? It is about how love will servive death or what we perceive as love.
The poem is about a man questioning love or questioning what will survive

ON 5TH SEPTEMBER 2014 DURING THE MONSOON SEMESTER 2014 INTRODUCTION:
Facebook is the most popular social networking site over the world with more than eight hundred
million users. It has become so much part of people s life that anyone can get access to their personal
information. Facebook was created by Mark Zuckerberg with the concept of allowing people to share
their common interest, but with time it has lost its real essence. As a matter of fact, it is a very useful
medium of communication to stay connected with friends and family, but it has some positive as well
as negative effects on the society. It is a social network which was created as a social media platform
to connect people and in many ways it seems that it has achieved its purpose. However, facebook s
popularity and massive use masks its psychological damages which are: addiction, depression and
isolation. The following analysis deals with both positive and negative effect of Facebook on the
society especially on students. Most students start using it as a pastime, but often end up getting
addicted of it which sometime is annoying. OBJECTIVE: The main objective of this project work is to
analyse the various

Essay on Commonality of Synesthesia Induced by Serotonin
The study of synesthesia has grown exponentially over the past few decades and as a result there is
some level of ambiguity as to the scope of what defines it. Gail Martino and Lawrence Mark propose
that synesthesia can be categorized into strong or weak. The former refers to those who experience a
vivid image in one sensory in response to stimulation in another , whereas the latter is characterized as
cross sensory correspondence[s] expressed through language, perceptual similarity and perceptual
interactions during information processing (Martino and Marks, 2001). This view implies that even
the subtlest forms of cross modal interactions that take place in the individual, albeit associating
certain sounds to sight, deserve some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conversely, the administration of melatonin allowed for a subject to experience grapheme color
synesthesia, in which S1 activation was lowered allowing for the dis inhibit[ion] of S2a receptors
leading to synesthesia (p. 903). These conclusions thus support the notion that the uptake of serotonin
in the S2a receptors has some correlation to synesthetic experience, yet it is unclear which S2a
receptors were specifically looked at. Berit Brogaard recently conducted a study that looked at Brang
and Ramachandran s serotonin hypothesis across drug induced and acquired forms of synesthesia.
Brogaard states that it has been shown in several studies that psychedelic hallucinogens that function
primarily as serotonin agonists, such as LSD, often induce auditorial visual synesthesia . It is believed
that this form of drug induced synesthesia is a result of an alternation of functional brain connectivity
caused by the binding of serotonin to S2a receptors (p. 5). In regards to acquired synesthesia following
brain injury research has shown that necrosis following tissue damage leads to local neurotransmitter
flooding caused by an excessive release of serotonin and glutamate (Brogaard, 2013). Damaged tissue
requires the cells in the brain to shift to anaerobic glycolysis, which quickly depletes the ATP levels
present and ultimately causes the membrane ion

The Logical Problem Of Evil Essay
In this paper I will discuss the logical problem of evil and how it seems to reject the existence of God
as an omni 3 being. I will first layout the logical problem of evil, and then I will explain why it
succeeds in disproving the existence of God. I do this through pointing out the contradictions between
the definition of God as an omni 3 being and the problem of redeemed and unredeemed evil. As well
as by proving that admittance of evil in any way when in reference to the choices of God invalidates
the omni 3 definition of God. I will address claims from those who believe in God about justification
of evil as well as the concept and depth of human understanding.
The logical problem of evil is almost as old as the concept of an omni 3 being as the one true God.
God in this context being a mix of the Judeo Christian belief that God is the Greatest Conceivable
Being (GCB). Being the GCB implies 3 things: God is all good (Omnibenevolent), all knowing
(Omniscient), and all powerful (Omnipotent), this is commonly referred to as omni 3. This argument
boils down to a simple three part argument structure:
1. If God, as an omni 3 being, exists then evil can not exist at all.
2. Evil clearly exists.
3. As a result, God as omni 3 can not exist.
This is a very simple argument; premise, interference, implied contradiction, and a conclusion. It is
simply through an application of modus ponens that, some believe, we are able to disprove the
existence of God as an Omni 3 being.

Compare And Contrast The Four Empires Of Mesopotamia
The Four Empires of Mesopotamia
In the ancient land of Mesopotamia many great factions fought for control of the land, many rose and
many fell the only constant in Mesopotamia was war. All of the civilizations that lived in
Mesopotamia rose and fell like the sun.
Sargon the leader of the Akkadians, This man would climb up the ranks of the group until he was the
leader. Once he became the leader he started planning and strategizing as well as start growing an
army. He trained the army in many tactics and strategies. During the middle of his planning he came
up with the Turtle Formation this was one of the most effective strategies at the time consisting of
shields in the front spears in the middle with the spears poking out and at the very back archers.

Puerto City Market History
Ponce City Market is a new development including retail, residential and commercial space that
repurposes the historic Sears Roebuck and Company building in the Old Fourth Ward district of
Atlanta.
The site has been in public use at least back to the 1860 s when it was a popular day trip for Atlantans
who wished to visit Ponce de Leon Springs for their reputed health benefits. The springs on the site
were named by Atlanta physician, Dr. Henry L. Wilson, for Juan Ponce de Leon, of Fountain of Youth
fame, and it is from these springs, rather than the Spanish explorer, that Ponce de Leon Avenue takes
its name. Over time additional attractions were built at the site to capitalize on the popularity of the
springs and in 1903 the construction of a true amusement park was begun. Ponce de Leon Park
remained a local attraction through the early 1920 s.
In 1924, the park now closed, Sears Roebuck and Company chose the site for their Southeastern
headquarters and began work on the current structure, completing the first phase in 1926. The building
is one of the largest in the South and is located on a sixteen acre site facing Ponce de Leon Avenue.
Sears closed their retail store on the site after more than fifty years but maintained the building as a
regional office until 1987.
Several years after Sears final departure, the City of Atlanta bought ... Show more content on

Arguments Against Banning Catcher in the Rye Essay
The Catcher in the Rye

Why The Catcher in the Rye Should Not be Banned
By: Ryan Gash
By: Ryan Gash
There are people who would like to see The Catcher in the Rye banned from our schools because it
contains disturbing issues. In my opinion they are overlooking the message that J.D. Salinger was
trying to communicate. In this novel, the characters exhibit a wide scope of behaviors from honorable
to ignominious. The novel presents issues such as respect for religion, or lack thereof. As though these
issues were not enough by themselves, there is also the subject of intolerance of others. How, may you
ask, should this novel be allowed in our schools? Well, the answer lies deep within the symbolism of
the novel, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Holden considers himself somewhat of a pacifist, he does care enough about certain things in
his life that he is willing to fight for them. This devotion should be respected, not frowned upon.
Holden s moral behaviors are not the only things that he should consider improving. Holden also
seems to have a lack of respect toward religion. We hear him say that he doesn t really like the twelve
disciples but he does like Jesus. He says his reason is because the disciples didn t help Jesus while he
was alive. This particular idea of Holden s is totally askew. He evidently has not understood the Bible
clearly and therefore his feelings may be derived from his misinterpretations. He also mentions that he
considers himself an atheist because religion seems to be too much for him. Holden seems to have had
too many negative experiences for him to be able to believe in God. This is all ironic though because
when he talks to the nuns he insists upon giving them a $10 donation and attempts to pay for their
lunch but they do not allow him to. I believe that Holden truly believes in God and is just waiting until
something good happens for him to be able to start having faith.
Holden s lack of religious knowledge is not the only thing that Holden is intolerant of; he also is
intolerant of most people. Holden s lack of respect for nearly

Value Of Sacrifice Research Paper
The word sacrifice means that something is given up in order to benefit another person. Sacrifices are
placed into categories based upon what is being given up in order to benefit someone else. There can
be political, personal, and in this piece of literature, religious sacrifices. Therefore, I will be discussing
the vital values of sacrifices established in bible stories along with when they are to be taken place.
As mentioned previously, sacrifices can vary in types such as personal, political, and religious. A
personal sacrifice comes from within someone such as a someone giving up a get together with friends
to help their mom around the house or helping out a friend study for future exams instead of going to
the movies. Next are political sacrifices which are all about political events, obviously, and it all can
go from quitting your job, giving up money and joining a simple protest to raging mobs all depending
on the drive of the people and their reaction to the event. Now religious ... Show more content on

Take Abraham for example, a patriarch, who was a very devotional and humble servant of God,

Furthermore, Abraham also had to give up his son. He and his wife Sarah had given out hope of
parenting, but God had promised Abraham that he and his descendants were going to be blessed. His
supposedly blessed son was asked to be offered as a sacrifice to God, Jehovah. Not only was Abraham
making a sacrifice, but his adult son Isaac was also willing to obey his father in giving his life without
questioning. The value of obedience and trust are portrayed with this sacrifice. Though, when is it

Purpose/Hypothesis: Incidence of second ACL Injury after ACL reconstruction is 17 times higher than
healthy uninjured peer athletes. There is high interest in understanding and correcting LE mechanics
during single leg landings as the majority of injuries occur during single leg tasks. Strengthening and
motor control of the proximal hip musculature has been emphasized to improve pelvic stability and
reduce injury risk. Alternatively, decreased load acceptance at the knee may contribute to excessive
hip drop during landing. Those with ACLR consistently demonstrate quadriceps weakness and

The isometric strength of the quadriceps was significantly different side to side (INV QUAD = 2.72 ±
0.77, UNINV QUAD = 3.07 ± 0.78, quad LSI = 89% ± 14%). The hip drop of the two limbs were
weakly related to one another (r= 0.237, p = 0.026), the involved limb demonstrated more hip drop
than the uninvolved (INV HIP ADD =14.55 ± 5.05, UNINV HIP ADD = 11.00 ± 5.31). Quadriceps
strength symmetry and normalized max knee extensor moment were inversely related to hip drop with
a stronger relationship on the surgical limb (INV: QUAD MVIC r = .341 p = .001, KNEE MOM: r =
.425 p .001 (n=88), UNINV: QUAD MVIC r = 0.278 p = .009, KNEE MOM: r = .294 p = .005).
Conclusions: There is a significant correlation between sagittal plane knee and frontal plane hip
moment during SLL in both limbs. Increased quadriceps strength and increased knee moment was
associated with less hip drop during landing. Moreover, the quadriceps strength asymmetry in this
population further amplified this relationship on the surgical side. The increased hip drop indicates
that the participants involved side was not fully recovered post surgery. Limitations: As a prospective

Communication Is A Cornerstone Of Building A Strong...
Introduction
Communication is a cornerstone of building a strong relationship (Robinson, 2012). Numerous studies
show that marriages that do not have an effective communication between partners easily end up in
divorces. Researchers have identified the habits that people have that hinder effective communication
in marriages (Kusi Kusi, 2015). These habits are: avoiding the expression of honest feelings and
opinions about issues; failing to listen to a partner and being quick to react to the partner s comments
on issues; being subjective in a dialogue; failing to allow a partner adequate time to respond to one s
questions; and using negative impolite language that seem to order a partner rather than request a
partner (Kusi Kusi, 2015). These habits and much hinder effective communication in marriages, which
often lead to divorces.
Topic Problem
Many people believe that infidelity is the major cause of divorces in relationships. However, this is not
the case. The main cause of failure in a relationship is the lack of proper communication. Infidelity,
trust issues, different expectations, addictions, responsibilities, money issues, narcissism, and different
priorities are simply the underlying factors that cause a deterioration in communication among couples
(Wright, 2000). Consequently, poor communication, which is triggered by the underlying factors, is
the basic cause of break ups (Chapman, 2013). This research aims to affirm that poor communication
is the major cause

The Framers Of The U.s. Constitution Essay
Introduction The majority of people, if not all, by human nature are greedy and work toward their own
desires and betterment. This natural instinct to protect one s self interest actually is a positive force in
the world. People will naturally work toward improving their station in life and the innovative ideas
that are unleashed and actions that are taken in these pursuits improve other people s lives as well. The
issue begins when this greed grows unchecked and becomes a desire to have power over others.
History has long shown that people who have power, especially power protected by a governing body,
should be held accountable. A community of people should never assume that those they have elected
to govern them possess greed that is more virtuous than individual greed. The Framers of the U.S.
Constitution recognized this abuse of power and were intent to put in place a system that included
separation of powers and checks and balances to protect American citizens from tyranny. Although the
Constitution does not specifically address term limits on public servants in government leadership,
there is evidence that some of the Framers understood that the negative effects of power hungry public
officials. During the Constitutional Convention, Benjamin Franklin made a speech and he said there
are two passions which have a powerful influence on the affairs of men. These are ambition and
avarice; The love of power and the love of money. What I will be addressing in this paper

Cicero s First Catilinarian Oration Essay
Cicero s First Catilinarian Oration: A Rhetorical and Literary Analysis
The pen is mightier than the sword. As a youth, I disagreed with this statement. How could a pen ever
defeat a sword? Over time, I have come to understand how words and speech can influence
generations more than just fear or force. Cicero s speeches are prime examples of how rhetoric is more
powerful than military prowess or use of arms. His rhetoric influenced public policy and successive
generations. Unlike Caesar and Pompey, he had no significant military command yet; his reputation
was just as strong. Cicero s general objectives in the First Catilinarian Oration were to portray Catiline
as a traitor, achieve support for an action against Catiline, and protect himself from any repercussions.
To demonstrate this rhetoric I will analyze sections 3 and 4 from his First Catilinarian Oration. I have
choses these sections because they best show how Cicero uses rhetoric to achieve his objective. In
order to classify and understand Cicero s rhetoric, first I will define the kinds of speech and parts of
rhetoric. Second, I will analyze his rhetoric by commenting on his chosen rhetorical techniques and
topics.
According to Aristotle, there are three kinds of speech: deliberative oratory, forensic oratory, and
epideictic oratory. Cicero s First Catilinarian Oration falls mainly under the deliberative oratory
category but, has elements of forensic and epideictic oratory. Deliberative oratory is any rhetoric

Gender Inequalities Of Sports And Gender Inequality
Gender Inequalities in Sport
Men throughout history have been the dominant gender, from the times of hunting with stone weapons
to the modern day metal and automated machines. Many negative connotations are thought of when
comparing women to men like strength, but less so when comparing men to women. Is it the society s
view that women are weaker than men or is it a natural fact brought to light? In sports women
experience many prejudices, but even so some sports are equal or even female dominant. However the
sheer majority lie in the male dominated section leaving women feeling oppressed and as if they have
unequal rights, and they mostly do. Some instances of women oppression or unequal rights in sport
belong to the sponsorships they receive, the effect media plays on children and women and also the
history of sport and of gender inequality itself. The physical make up of each gender also effects
stereotyping and how people perceive each gender.
Gender inequality is a hot political issue today and inequality itself has been prevalent in sport
throughout its history. The inventor of the modern Olympics, Pierre de Coubertin, created the
Olympics with the mindset that women should not be allowed to compete but only spectate. Today
women do compete just like men do and many women excel in sports that men can t do well in and
vice versa. Gender inequality has been, in large, a major part of society since the beginning. Men
would always rule the country and the household. Women

Line seven expresses the beauty of the poem and reveals how it isn t the content of the poem, rather the language. Keats expresses amazement in this poem by implying the moment that he read Homer s work. He is truly moved by his work and is truly interested in the language and imagery of Homer s work. • 5. How Graffiti Has Changed Over Time Guillermo Corte Professor Peppard English 110 86 04 May 2015 How Graffiti has Changed over Time. Graffiti is the act of inscribing or drawing on walls for the purpose of communicating a message to the general public. The term comes from the Greek term Graphein, which means to write. Graffiti has been around since men first started drawing pictures in caves. However, the focus of this paper is not on pre historic or amateur graffiti, but on the modern hip hop graffiti movement that began in the late 1960 s. The graffiti has two versions: a legal aspect, in which artists are able to spray paintings and murals of great spectacle and technical. The illegal side, is where they express their painting in public spaces such as schools, metros, trains, posters, and wall Streets, etc. Graffiti are a poor choice for people who practiced this objective because it deny people in follow good roads which is seen a bad self expression and they also may be expensive, putting pressure on low income families. Controversial, secrecy, and taboo are some points that connect with graffiti argument where graffiti has changed over the years. • 6. The Nature of Solitude in Chopin s Novel, The Awakening The Nature of Solitude in Chopin s Novel, The Awakening The name of the piece was something else, but she called it Solitude. When she heard it there came before her imagination the figure of a man standing beside a desolate rock on the seashore. He was naked. His attitude was one of hopeless resignation as he looked toward a distant bird winging its flight away from him. (47) All along the white beach, up and down, there was no living thing in sight. A bird with a broken wing was beating the air above, reeling, fluttering, circling disabled down, down to the water...when she was there beside the sea, absolutely alone, she cast the unpleasant, pricking garments from her, and for the first time in her life she stood naked in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The word desolate is used to describe the rock, offering up connotations of a barren, dismal lifelessness. The figure of the man is naked, or exposed and defenseless. His demeanor reflects hopeless resignation as he views a distant bird winging away from him. Here resignation can be taken to mean an unresisting acceptance of something as inescapable and as a surrender. Looking at this passage in this light, I cannot help but connect it with Robert. After finally vocalizing his love for Edna, Robert is in a way naked, free of the pretenses of socially conscious manners. Following this admission, however, Robert leaves off waiting for Edna, gives up on fulfilling his love, due, I think, in many ways to the social consequences that this would surely bring. Thus Robert too is hopelessly resigned to social moires which influence him to let his forbidden love wing away from him. This passage then foreshadows both Robert s resignation and Edna s own experience at the end of the novel. The second passage repeats several of the same images. On the beach there is no living thing in sight and Edna is absolutely alone. Thus the desolation and solitude from the first passage reappear. The figure of the bird is also depicted again, only in this instance the bird has a broken wing and reel[s] down, disabled towards the water, closer to the figure of Edna ... Vaccines may give a person antibodies against the diseases, but there is no way to control the amount. If there is a low amount of antibodies, than the person is likely to develop the disease. This information relates to my TED talk because vaccines are a problem and harm the body. Because of how society views them, people believe that they can develop immunity against diseases which is not the case. This will strengthen my position because I believe that vaccines hinder and harm the body, and by describing the damaging effects of them, I will be able to enhance my claim about vaccines. Mercury and Autism. SafeMinds Autism Environment. SafeMinds, 2009. Web. 20 Dec. 2016. This article discusses how mercury and other toxins could be a cause of autism. There are many hopes and dreams that are either realistic or wild hopes, regardless none of the hopes and dreams actually come true. That then leads to affecting the relationships between every character and usually negatively affecting the hopes and dreams of the next generation while being the cause behind all of the conflicts that go on and become the reason that the fathers and sons do not get along. • 10. How Lomax and Fellow Prisoners are Treated Essay How Lomax and Fellow Prisoners are Treated In this essay I will be looking at ways in which Lomax conveys how he and his fellow prisoners are treated here in this passage from the book. To show evidence of this I will select quotes which show choices of form, style, vocabulary and narrative viewpoint. Overall I aim to highlight the ways in which the attitudes and values are conveyed to the reader. Lomax Perfectly describes his transition from a P.O.W camp to Outram Gail. What our captors were in fact doing was consigning us to a lower circle of hell . This extremely poignant statement shows use of imagery in a way that stands out to the reader. He uses lower circle of hell , which is a simile to emphasize the absurdity of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is mostly from the viewpoint of Lomax now, as an old man who can look back and comment on it with toned down emotion and consideration. Moving on to the use of adjectives which Lomax has liberally used throughout the first paragraph we get the impression that there was no pre meditated violence or planned torture, it was just neglect of the most damaging kind. some of his colleagues were bored, slovenly and brutal . Both bored and slovenly are adjectives that describe well the casual attitude of the guards. I would imagine that the attitudes of these guards were strongly disliked by Lomax morals. He doesn t believe in laziness, to him every thing must have a purpose and he likes to carefully consider and plan any thing he does. I cannot imagine that this lax, thoughtless behaviour impressed him much. Further on in the second paragraph there is more evidence of imagery, and how Lomax uses it to good effect. cradling those frail creatures of skin and bone in his own emaciated arms . This comes across strongly in many ways; firstly he is implying that these creatures have taken on a kind of sub human form through their illness and horrific neglect and deprivation. Secondly the man looking after them is also rather emaciated . A rather juxtaposed statement as the carer is almost as weak and sick as whom he is caring for. The descriptive ... There are huge differences between classical and modern liberalism and as a result classical liberals believe that modern liberals have not stayed true to initial ideas posed by the likes of John Locke given that modern liberals have embraced collectivism while classical liberals favoured pure individualism. But they are fundamentally both forms of liberalism so are united in their belief of freedom and rights of the individual but they have slightly different views on the type of freedom they support. Classical liberalism has a belief in utilitarianism first posed by Jeremy Bentham, this is where individuals make tiny calculations about whether their actions will maximise pleasure or minimise pain . This is thus done through self fufillment and pushing one s own knowledge. Positive freedom places emphasis on the individual flourishing rather than survival of the fittest so therefore the state should offer equal opportunities to all. This has seen modern liberals support the welfare state whereas classical liberals focused on standing on your own feet. But, this is not totally different to core liberal beliefs. The state only intervenes to ensure equality such as education and health. Modern liberals defend the welfare state on the basis of equality of opportunity. The welfare state has attempted to address issues such as idleness and want and squalor , named by the Beveridge Report by William Beveridge. Overall, Modern liberals believe in providing an equal playing field to help the individual flourish in society rather than the individual just battling for themselves. This belief in some state intervention and positive freedom has lead liberals of modern times to a belief in welfare and economic management. With regard to the Book of Genesis, it is important to examine the writing with other contemporary works of similar geography and topics. The people of ancient Mesopotamia, where the oldest civilizations originated, produced a number of stories of creation and natural occurrences. It is important to note that many of the stories of the Sumerians, Akkadians and Hebrews began as oral traditions as the events they depict predate writing, so it is difficult to date these works on the basis of when these prehistoric myths were initiated. Just as there existed beings outside of creation in the Enuma Elish, the Hebrew God was present prior to the formation of the world. As the universe becomes defined in the following stages, the development described in each of the stories show a resemblance in events and the order in which they occurred. It is important to note that light existed, in both stories, independent of celestial bodies. Next, in same order, the sky and ground are created, followed by luminaries or the sun, moon and stars. The fact that the sequence of the creation stories is nearly identical can hardly be accidental according to some scholars. Subsequently, man is created with elements of divinity, given the task of working the soil . At the conclusion of each creation story, the deities rest from their work. While it is necessary to refrain from exaggerating the influence found in these similarities, it is equally essential to remain open to the understanding that these works emerged within a similar conceptual world . Though many similarities in the creation stories of Genesis and the Enuma Elish, the divergences are much more far reaching and significant . Unlike the gods of depicted in the Enuma Elish who were coexistent and coeternal with the comic matter , the Hebrew God is transcendent and separate from the substance of the cosmos, having Himself created it. • 16. How Exercise And Different Body Positions Essay Purpose The purpose of this experiment was to become familiar with the electrocardiograph to help us determine the heart electrical activity. As well as, to observe how exercise and different body positions(conditions) can affect the activity of the heart. Introduction Trained professionals can look at the EKG tracing and determine if the heart is normal or if the heart is abnormal. An ECG records the electrical activity of the heart. The heart produces tiny electrical impulses which spread through the heart muscle to make the heart contract (Kenny, 2015). There are two different types of cells. Autorhythmic (electrical) cell begins electrical activity and triggers contractile fiber, and contractile (myocardial) generates force to pump blood. With each heartbeat the cardiac system starts with the pacemaker (called the SA node) that conducts electricity. The electrical current travels from the SA node and signals the atria to contract. Then into the Antrioventucular node, which signals the ventricles. Eventually, into a bundle of his, left and right bundle branches, and lastly Purkinje fibers. Purkinje fibers then stimulate the contractile fibers. In addition, the EKG (electrocardiogram) illustrates a series of waves and flat lines (isoelectric) usually seen on computer monitors. Waves represent electrical activity through the heart and the physical events that take place in the heart, systole (contraction occurs and blood pumps into the arteries) and diastole (blood ... Pardoners Tale, Chaucer, Canterbury Essays The Pardoner s Subconscious Character quot; The Pardoner s Tale, quot; by Geoffrey Chaucer, makes evident the parallel between the internal emotions of people and the subconscious exposure of those emotions. This particular story, from The Canterbury Tales, is a revealing tale being told by a medieval pardoner to his companions on a journey to Canterbury. Though the Pardoner s profession is to pardon and absolve the sins of people, he actually lives in constant violation of sins such as gluttony, gambling, and, most importantly, avarice. On the other hand, the Pardoner s profession is to absolve sinners and steer them towards life; he guides people to spiritual and even physical life! Therefore, he personifies all that is pure and innocent, such as a youthful and innocent boy. Both, with this physical aid, do good jobs of preaching to people to get their desired results. The eager minds of the people and the skill of the two preachers are what lead the people to either life or death. He has actually quot;cured quot; those who come to him seeking salvation and pardon. The people just need something tangible, like the fake relics, to hold on to and believe in to be quot;cured quot;. Again, the same is true for the old man. During the 1840 s Cuba was affected by three hurricanes that all happened within four years of each other in 1842, 1844, and 1846. Many scholars have looked over these hurricanes in Cuba as not really having much of an in depth affect on Cuba s life and history but just as being hurricanes. But Louis A. Pérez Jr. a professor and scholar, labeled these 19th century hurricanes as a flash point to look at Cuba s history from multiple angles. saw the 1842, 1844, and 1846 hurricanes as being more than just storms by using multiple resources like the Archivo Nacional de Cubaa, Havana, encyclopedias, such as the Encyclopedia of Hurricanes, Typhoons, and Cyclones by David Longshore (New York, 1998), and descriptive chronologies by David L. Niddrie and David M. Ludlow to name a few. By reviewing and using all of these resources, Louis A. Pérez concluded that the 1840 s hurricanes had an effect on agriculture, social relations, and the overall national identity of Cuba. The Cuban coffee, tobacco, and sugar productions transformed in the 19th century due to the hurricanes of 1842, 1844, and 1846. The productions of coffee, tobacco, and sugar prior to the 1840 s hurricanes were profitable businesses. Many Cuban farmers saw the productions as a great way to grow and to invest in the future. Advances in technology however have created new options for women who have a defective uterus or defective ovaries. Two alternatives that are gaining popularity are straight surrogacy and host surrogacy. In straight surrogacy, or traditional surrogacy, the surrogate mother is impregnated with the sperm of the intended father by way of artificial insemination. After handing over the child, eleven of the woman experienced only mild difficulties, one reported moderate difficulty, and the rest reported not having any difficulties. After a year only two reported experiencing occasional mild difficulties, while the rest reported none. In none of the cases did any of the woman report feeling that the child was like their own. As it was put by one of the woman, she never viewed it as handing over the child, instead she considered she was handing back the child. Surrogate mothers often report feeling a positive sense of self worth, that seeing their commissioning couple s faces once the child is born makes the whole process worthwhile. Surrogacy has not only benefited many couples hoping to have children, but surrogate mothers wishing to give the gift of life to a child as well. Summary Of Kenneth Slessor s North Country Through the immersion of one in a variety of physical environments, the manipulation of genre, form and perspective presents a polysemic representation of a diverse range of landscapes, in turn allowing responders to develop complex understandings into the human psyche. Specifically, through the interwoven utilization of complex allusions and personalized outlooks Alain De Botton s The Art Of Travel shapes humanities greater knowledge of traveling s impact on the human behavior and perception. Likewise, this notion is extended amongst Kenneth Slessor s minimalistic, poetic piece North Country in which the composer highlights man s dichotomous relationship with the physical world, and how ongoing, differentiated experiences cultivate interpersonal growth and develop individualized standpoints towards the wider globe. Consequently, both texts elicit portrayals of innumerable landscapes, which foreground the intricacies of civilization through the construction of a piece that reveals the subjectivity of our human mentalities today. Recollecting empowers the individual to delve deeper into meaningful encounters that assist in developing identity whether it be from a reminisced, imaginative or realistic. Illustrating this analogy is Botton s AOT through its alteration of the basic novel structure to fully capture landscapes as the product of personal perception, all whilst challenging the reader to reconsider the true sense of these places and their everlasting impact on ... Essay on Commonality of Synesthesia Induced by Serotonin The study of synesthesia has grown exponentially over the past few decades and as a result there is some level of ambiguity as to the scope of what defines it. Gail Martino and Lawrence Mark propose that synesthesia can be categorized into strong or weak. The former refers to those who experience a vivid image in one sensory in response to stimulation in another , whereas the latter is characterized as cross sensory correspondence[s] expressed through language, perceptual similarity and perceptual interactions during information processing (Martino and Marks, 2001). This view implies that even the subtlest forms of cross modal interactions that take place in the individual, albeit associating certain sounds to sight, deserve some ... Conversely, the administration of melatonin allowed for a subject to experience grapheme color synesthesia, in which S1 activation was lowered allowing for the dis inhibit[ion] of S2a receptors leading to synesthesia (p. 903). These conclusions thus support the notion that the uptake of serotonin in the S2a receptors has some correlation to synesthetic experience, yet it is unclear which S2a receptors were specifically looked at. Berit Brogaard recently conducted a study that looked at Brang and Ramachandran s serotonin hypothesis across drug induced and acquired forms of synesthesia. Brogaard states that it has been shown in several studies that psychedelic hallucinogens that function primarily as serotonin agonists, such as LSD, often induce auditorial visual synesthesia . It is believed that this form of drug induced synesthesia is a result of an alternation of functional brain connectivity caused by the binding of serotonin to S2a receptors (p. 5). In regards to acquired synesthesia following brain injury research has shown that necrosis following tissue damage leads to local neurotransmitter flooding caused by an excessive release of serotonin and glutamate (Brogaard, 2013). Damaged tissue requires the cells in the brain to shift to anaerobic glycolysis, which quickly depletes the ATP levels present and ultimately causes the membrane ion ... • 24. The Logical Problem Of Evil Essay In this paper I will discuss the logical problem of evil and how it seems to reject the existence of God as an omni 3 being. I will first layout the logical problem of evil, and then I will explain why it succeeds in disproving the existence of God. I do this through pointing out the contradictions between the definition of God as an omni 3 being and the problem of redeemed and unredeemed evil. As well as by proving that admittance of evil in any way when in reference to the choices of God invalidates the omni 3 definition of God. I will address claims from those who believe in God about justification of evil as well as the concept and depth of human understanding. The logical problem of evil is almost as old as the concept of an omni 3 being as the one true God. God in this context being a mix of the Judeo Christian belief that God is the Greatest Conceivable Being (GCB). Being the GCB implies 3 things: God is all good (Omnibenevolent), all knowing (Omniscient), and all powerful (Omnipotent), this is commonly referred to as omni 3. This argument boils down to a simple three part argument structure: 1. If God, as an omni 3 being, exists then evil can not exist at all. 2. Evil clearly exists. 3. As a result, God as omni 3 can not exist. This is a very simple argument; premise, interference, implied contradiction, and a conclusion. It is simply through an application of modus ponens that, some believe, we are able to disprove the existence of God as an Omni 3 being. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Puerto City Market History Ponce City Market is a new development including retail, residential and commercial space that repurposes the historic Sears Roebuck and Company building in the Old Fourth Ward district of Atlanta. The site has been in public use at least back to the 1860 s when it was a popular day trip for Atlantans who wished to visit Ponce de Leon Springs for their reputed health benefits. The springs on the site were named by Atlanta physician, Dr. Henry L. Wilson, for Juan Ponce de Leon, of Fountain of Youth fame, and it is from these springs, rather than the Spanish explorer, that Ponce de Leon Avenue takes its name. Over time additional attractions were built at the site to capitalize on the popularity of the springs and in 1903 the construction of a true amusement park was begun. Ponce de Leon Park remained a local attraction through the early 1920 s. In 1924, the park now closed, Sears Roebuck and Company chose the site for their Southeastern headquarters and began work on the current structure, completing the first phase in 1926. We hear him say that he doesn t really like the twelve disciples but he does like Jesus. He says his reason is because the disciples didn t help Jesus while he was alive. This is all ironic though because when he talks to the nuns he insists upon giving them a $10 donation and attempts to pay for their lunch but they do not allow him to. I believe that Holden truly believes in God and is just waiting until something good happens for him to be able to start having faith. Holden s lack of religious knowledge is not the only thing that Holden is intolerant of; he also is intolerant of most people. Holden s lack of respect for nearly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Value Of Sacrifice Research Paper The word sacrifice means that something is given up in order to benefit another person. Sacrifices are placed into categories based upon what is being given up in order to benefit someone else. There can be political, personal, and in this piece of literature, religious sacrifices. Therefore, I will be discussing the vital values of sacrifices established in bible stories along with when they are to be taken place. As mentioned previously, sacrifices can vary in types such as personal, political, and religious. A personal sacrifice comes from within someone such as a someone giving up a get together with friends to help their mom around the house or helping out a friend study for future exams instead of going to the movies. Next are political sacrifices which are all about political events, obviously, and it all can go from quitting your job, giving up money and joining a simple protest to raging mobs all depending on the drive of the people and their reaction to the event. Now religious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Take Abraham for example, a patriarch, who was a very devotional and humble servant of God, willing to exchange his wealth and comfort from living in a nice home and in the suburbs to living in a nomadic lifestyle. He was willing to do this because he had faith, love and trust in God who asked him to do this life changing action. His sacrifice pertains value of Abraham s relationship with God. Furthermore, Abraham also had to give up his son. He and his wife Sarah had given out hope of parenting, but God had promised Abraham that he and his descendants were going to be blessed. His supposedly blessed son was asked to be offered as a sacrifice to God, Jehovah. Not only was Abraham making a sacrifice, but his adult son Isaac was also willing to obey his father in giving his life without questioning. The value of obedience and trust are portrayed with this sacrifice. Though, when is it proper to make a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Long Day Landing Essay Correlation Between Lower Extremity Biomechanics and Hip Drop During Single Leg Landing Post ACLR Purpose/Hypothesis: Incidence of second ACL Injury after ACL reconstruction is 17 times higher than healthy uninjured peer athletes. There is high interest in understanding and correcting LE mechanics during single leg landings as the majority of injuries occur during single leg tasks. Strengthening and motor control of the proximal hip musculature has been emphasized to improve pelvic stability and reduce injury risk. Alternatively, decreased load acceptance at the knee may contribute to excessive hip drop during landing. Those with ACLR consistently demonstrate quadriceps weakness and reduced knee extensor moment during landing. Our aim is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The isometric strength of the quadriceps was significantly different side to side (INV QUAD = 2.72 ± 0.77, UNINV QUAD = 3.07 ± 0.78, quad LSI = 89% ± 14%). The hip drop of the two limbs were weakly related to one another (r= 0.237, p = 0.026), the involved limb demonstrated more hip drop than the uninvolved (INV HIP ADD =14.55 ± 5.05, UNINV HIP ADD = 11.00 ± 5.31). Quadriceps strength symmetry and normalized max knee extensor moment were inversely related to hip drop with a stronger relationship on the surgical limb (INV: QUAD MVIC r = .341 p = .001, KNEE MOM: r = .425 p .001 (n=88), UNINV: QUAD MVIC r = 0.278 p = .009, KNEE MOM: r = .294 p = .005). Conclusions: There is a significant correlation between sagittal plane knee and frontal plane hip moment during SLL in both limbs. Increased quadriceps strength and increased knee moment was associated with less hip drop during landing. Moreover, the quadriceps strength asymmetry in this population further amplified this relationship on the surgical side. The increased hip drop indicates that the participants involved side was not fully recovered post surgery. Limitations: As a prospective study, it is possible the participants had deficits prior to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Communication Is A Cornerstone Of Building A Strong... Introduction Communication is a cornerstone of building a strong relationship (Robinson, 2012). Numerous studies show that marriages that do not have an effective communication between partners easily end up in divorces. Researchers have identified the habits that people have that hinder effective communication in marriages (Kusi Kusi, 2015). These habits are: avoiding the expression of honest feelings and opinions about issues; failing to listen to a partner and being quick to react to the partner s comments on issues; being subjective in a dialogue; failing to allow a partner adequate time to respond to one s questions; and using negative impolite language that seem to order a partner rather than request a partner (Kusi Kusi, 2015). These habits and much hinder effective communication in marriages, which often lead to divorces. Topic Problem Many people believe that infidelity is the major cause of divorces in relationships. However, this is not the case. The main cause of failure in a relationship is the lack of proper communication. Infidelity, trust issues, different expectations, addictions, responsibilities, money issues, narcissism, and different priorities are simply the underlying factors that cause a deterioration in communication among couples (Wright, 2000). Consequently, poor communication, which is triggered by the underlying factors, is the basic cause of break ups (Chapman, 2013). This research aims to affirm that poor communication is the major cause ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Monocytogenes Two years later, in 1989, the consumption of L. monocytogenes contaminated shrimp was found to be responsible for 10 confirmed cases of listeriosis with 100% mortality in Connecticut, USA (Riedo et al., 1994). • 36. The Framers Of The U.s. Constitution Essay Introduction The majority of people, if not all, by human nature are greedy and work toward their own desires and betterment. This natural instinct to protect one s self interest actually is a positive force in the world. People will naturally work toward improving their station in life and the innovative ideas that are unleashed and actions that are taken in these pursuits improve other people s lives as well. The issue begins when this greed grows unchecked and becomes a desire to have power over others. History has long shown that people who have power, especially power protected by a governing body, should be held accountable. A community of people should never assume that those they have elected to govern them possess greed that is more virtuous than individual greed. The Framers of the U.S. Constitution recognized this abuse of power and were intent to put in place a system that included separation of powers and checks and balances to protect American citizens from tyranny. Although the Constitution does not specifically address term limits on public servants in government leadership, there is evidence that some of the Framers understood that the negative effects of power hungry public officials. During the Constitutional Convention, Benjamin Franklin made a speech and he said there are two passions which have a powerful influence on the affairs of men. These are ambition and avarice; The love of power and the love of money. What I will be addressing in this paper ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Cicero s First Catilinarian Oration Essay Cicero s First Catilinarian Oration: A Rhetorical and Literary Analysis The pen is mightier than the sword. As a youth, I disagreed with this statement. How could a pen ever defeat a sword? Over time, I have come to understand how words and speech can influence generations more than just fear or force. Cicero s speeches are prime examples of how rhetoric is more powerful than military prowess or use of arms. His rhetoric influenced public policy and successive generations. Unlike Caesar and Pompey, he had no significant military command yet; his reputation was just as strong. Cicero s general objectives in the First Catilinarian Oration were to portray Catiline as a traitor, achieve support for an action against Catiline, and protect himself from any repercussions. To demonstrate this rhetoric I will analyze sections 3 and 4 from his First Catilinarian Oration. I have choses these sections because they best show how Cicero uses rhetoric to achieve his objective. In order to classify and understand Cicero s rhetoric, first I will define the kinds of speech and parts of rhetoric. Second, I will analyze his rhetoric by commenting on his chosen rhetorical techniques and topics. According to Aristotle, there are three kinds of speech: deliberative oratory, forensic oratory, and epideictic oratory. Cicero s First Catilinarian Oration falls mainly under the deliberative oratory category but, has elements of forensic and epideictic oratory. Deliberative oratory is any rhetoric ... • 39. Gender Inequalities Of Sports And Gender Inequality Gender Inequalities in Sport Men throughout history have been the dominant gender, from the times of hunting with stone weapons to the modern day metal and automated machines. Many negative connotations are thought of when comparing women to men like strength, but less so when comparing men to women. Is it the society s view that women are weaker than men or is it a natural fact brought to light? In sports women experience many prejudices, but even so some sports are equal or even female dominant. However the sheer majority lie in the male dominated section leaving women feeling oppressed and as if they have unequal rights, and they mostly do. Some instances of women oppression or unequal rights in sport belong to the sponsorships they receive, the effect media plays on children and women and also the history of sport and of gender inequality itself. The physical make up of each gender also effects stereotyping and how people perceive each gender. Gender inequality is a hot political issue today and inequality itself has been prevalent in sport throughout its history. The inventor of the modern Olympics, Pierre de Coubertin, created the Olympics with the mindset that women should not be allowed to compete but only spectate. Today women do compete just like men do and many women excel in sports that men can t do well in and vice versa. Gender inequality has been, in large, a major part of society since the beginning. Men would always rule the country and the household. Women ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
