Twelve. The age where boys around the world go to junior high for the first time. The age where some
boys have braces on their crooked teeth. The age where the voice of some boys becomes deeper.
Twelve for me means none of that. Twelve marks the year when a member of the Nazi party could
knock on our door and take me away. Twelve marks the age that I might never see my family again.
Growing up with the frenzy of the war outside my bedroom window seized my childish qualities and
innocence away from me. I do not have the option to play in the street like the others. I cannot
casually walk in the Berlin plaza freely, as it seems that every five seconds a Nazi soldier stops to
question me. I have seen guiltless people shot to death on the sidewalk by ruthless soldiers under

View of the Quarter Over the Christmas holidays I visited one of my favorite childhood restaurants in
the Metairie area. Quarter View, located on Clearview Parkway, has been one of my favorite places to

In the Republic, Plato starts his argument by saying that education in music and poetry should occur
before any physical training. This is due to the fact that our mental abilities develop much faster than
our physical strength. We use our brains to analyze the world around us by listening and learning from
others. When we re younger, our brains are more malleable and easier to manipulate. As children, we
re more likely to believe every story we hear because we don t know any better. Since children don t
know the difference between what s allegorical and what s the truth, everything presented to them is
the truth. Plato expresses his concern for this, as most of the stories children hear include arguing and
punishment. Children will then take this as the truth and view fighting as a normal and a reasonable
way to solve conflict. This is what makes narrative art and drama dangerous for children, who more or
less start off as decent people but are then corrupted by the allegories they hear during their childhood.
Adults, on the other hand, can still be corrupted by narrative art, though it s not as simple. Art uses
illusions to make one ignore the truth. Plato uses the example of a stick looking crooked when it s in
water. Despite our knowledge of the fact that the stick is indeed straight, we still see it as bent. The
same concept applies to illusions in art. As Plato describes, while we know that a trompe l œil painting
is two dimensional, we still see the objects within the painting as three dimensional. We can walk into
an art gallery with the pre conceived notion that every painting is in fact only two dimensional, and
still fall victim to the illusion. This, Plato states, is because it appeals to the inferior part of the human
soul. It ignores truth and measurements and is irrational to the point where it shouldn t make sense.

The Prolonged Identity Crisis Economic Difference of East and West Germany
In February of 1945, the Nazi Germans got defeated and soon surrendered to the allied powers.
Germany s nation was split between the four allied powers: United States, Great Britain, Soviet
Union, and France. In addition, the capital city of Berlin was also divided amongst the Allied Powers
into four sections. However, tensions among the Western Powers and Soviet Union caused a shift into
a Cold War. In 1949, Germany and the city of Berlin got divided into two nations in which became
known as the West and East Germany. West Germany is known as the Federal Republic of Germany
(FRG) and is supported by the three Western Powers. East Germany is known as the German
Democratic Republic (GDR) and is governed by the Soviet Union. The Western Powers and the Soviet
Union created different philosophy within the territories that they governed. Each of the territory has
its own identity, economy outlook, and lifestyle.
East Germany and West Germany struggles to identify their social identity because of the
reconstruction of the German society guided by the Western Powers and Soviet Union. The GDR was
closely monitored by the Soviets and FRG was overseen by the Western Powers. As tensions increased

worldwide. Inflammation is characterized by vascular fragility, infiltration of leukocytes, and edema.
Glomerular disease may manifest by three major syndromes: nephritic syndrome, nephrotic syndrome,
and rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis (RPGN). Nephritic syndrome consists of sudden onset of
hematuria, non nephrotic range proteinuria (1.5 g/24 h), active sediment with red blood cell (RBC)
casts or dysmorphic RBCs, acute renal failure, and hypertension. Nephrotic syndrome is characterized
by heavy proteinuria ( 3.5 g/24 h), edema, hypoalbuminemia, and hyperlipidemia. RPGN is

renal failure usually over a period of weeks to months. Glomerulonephritis accounts for the majority
of progressive renal disease in many parts of the world.

Glomerulonephritis has diverse etiologies related to disorders of the immune system, including

You would think the U.S. would be a little more advanced with sport communication through social
media because of our obsession with both, but the Juventus F.C. website s design was simple and

Australian Film allows the rest of the world to have an insight into our way of life, our communities
and our land. Australian film usually provides a hard working and hardy stereotype who lives in the
outback and takes pride in his mates, and for a lot of the country, this is mostly true. The typical
Australian is a laid back, hard working community member who prides the relationship they have with
their mates, who may not even be a person. The saying a man s best friend is his dog is incredibly true
for many, especially Australians, where dogs can be found in all walks of life. At least, this is Kriv
Stender s perspective of Australian identity, seen in his 2011 film Red Dog.
Red Dog tells the story of a dog who wandered around the outback before settling down in Dampier, a
mining town of north Western Australia. There he finds himself a home and a family, within the close
knit community. This reflects Stender s perspective of the Australian identity, and what qualities are
valued within Australian culture.
The environment within the film shows a vast, dry and barren land, coated in a layer of red dust that is
iconic within Australian film, and builds onto the identity. This is red dirt is so rich in its colour, and

Abraham Lincoln began as a lawyer born in Kentucky who gained attention to himself through having

The Wall Film Analysis
The Wall is one of the most popular and regarded albums of a band known as Pink Floyd. The album
was then turned into a movie whose screenplay was written by Rodger Waters, a member of the band.
The film adaptation of the album is based on events that occurred during Rodger Waters life and uses
multiple design elements to shape the viewers sense of the characters, narrative, and themes of the
film while using little dialogue and mainly telling the story though the use of songs off of the album.
The songs from the album played throughout the film are used to tell the story of a troubles rock star
as the film flashes back and forth from his past, his present self in reality. but also how he visualizes
his present self from his state of mind.
Beginning with the opening scene, the design elements used already begin to shapes the viewers
understanding of the film. The image of a long and grey hallways is the first image the viewer sees. As
the camera dollies in to the end of the hallway where a maid is cleaning rooms, the viewer can already
sense the depressing feeling the scene is creating with the use of grey colors. When this image cuts
out, the opening credits are shown, then followed by a man lighting a lantern. The lighting is very
dark, which is seen again and again throughout the film, and the man s face is only illuminated by this
