The Ethics Of Gestational Surrogacy
Perhaps one of the greatest human desires is to create and love a child. There are those who, by nature,
do not possess such personal aspiration, seeking preventative measures to avoid conception. Then
there are those thrilled to take on the role of parent, whether or not pregnancy fit into the initial plan.
Still there are those who long for a tiny biological life, which cannot be traditionally conceived or
carried to term due to a failure of mechanisms within the body beyond the control of the intended
parents. Such problematic infertility issues have prompted would be parents to turn to surrogacy
arrangements to acquire a gestational surrogate, a woman who would consent to implantation and of a
couple s embryo created through in vitro fertilization (IVF) and carrying the fetus to termination
should a pregnancy result. Referred to as a Wild, Wild West globalized industry, the United States is a
relatively unregulated playground of opportunity for commercial for hire contractual surrogacy
otherwise found illegal in the majority of developed countries around the world. In terms of state to
state approaches regulating surrogacy reproductive modalities, a patchwork of laws exist from
extreme outlawing of surrogacy, permissibility with limitations, or most favorable flexible allowance

advantageous forum. There is no current overarching federal law regulating surrogacy

Design for Manufacturability
Design For Manufacturability Abstract This paper explores design for manufacturability using several
scholarly journal articles and books from different sources and industries. It starts by examining the
definition of design for manufacturability as it pertains to managers of supply chains. The paper then
discusses a fundamental topic that provides a foundation for learning design for manufacturability: the
principles of design. The next section of this paper outlines the benefits that design for
manufacturability has if a company chooses to implement it into their operations. Following the
benefits of design for manufacturability are several key guidelines that will give a company the best
chance for success while using design for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The solution of one problem most likely will not result in total success for the entire project, as it is a
part of a system. The fifth principle is the limited information principle. The traditional problem
solving approach is to bring in a consultant who is an expert in supposedly similar problems or to
become an expert in the problem yourself by delving into past problems that seem familiar. (McClure,
1999) Information should be limited so that, like traditional problem solving, it is not time consuming
and cluttered with useless information. The people to people principle is the sixth principle suggested
by Nadler. Anyone that has to do with any area of the problem needs to feel that they are included in
implementing a solution. The final principle discussed is the betermant timeline principle. The
familiar phrase If it ain t broke, don t fix it can only be used for the short term. Over time, everything
wears out eventually due to change in external and internal factors. Solutions to problems should be
monitored to help track change and evaluate improvement. (McClure, 1999) Requirements Before
Pursuing Design for Manufacturability After learning about these principles to design, one can now
start to understand design for manufacturability and its effects on the design and manufacturing

1. (5 pts) Describe the metabolic process providing your energy while you were walking (at an easy

The metabolic process providing my energy while I was walking at an easy pace is aerobic
metabolism. During aerobic metabolism, mitochondria absorb from the surrounding cytoplasm these
molecules: ADP, phosphate ions, O2, and organic substances like pyruvate. These molecules go
through the citric acid cycle. The electron transport chain is also involved to create ATP. For each
molecule of pyruvate that goes into the citric acid cycle, the cell gains 17 ATP molecules. Glycogen

After a retinal molecule absorbs light, the normally 11 cis form of the bound retinal molecule
straightens to become the 11 trans from. This change activated the opsin molecule. Opsin activates
transducin which is a G protein. This G protein then activates phosphodiesterase. Phosphodiesterase is
an enzyme that breaks down cyclic GMP. The break down of cyclic GMP removes them from the
gated sodium channels and makes the gated sodium channels inactive. Because of this, sodium ion
entry into the cytoplasm decreases.

Schizophrenia Is The Most Common Mental Illness
Schizophrenia is a chronic and severe disorder which is equal in both Men and Women and affects one
percent of the worlds population, it is the most common mental illness (Carlson 2014). Schizophrenia
is the suffering from a split mind which can start at a very early age and remain as a lifelong disease.
(Tsuang 1982) In the UK currently 250,000 people are suffering from Schizophrenia. (Crow 1991)
There are several symptoms which are found in Schizophrenics which are characterised by positive,
negative and cognitive symptoms. However some people may differ differently due to their diagnosis
of Schizophrenia. Some individuals may show all the symptoms listed, whereas others may only
display a small number of them. (Jones et al.) In addition, the description of the symptoms of
Schizophrenics indicates that the disorder has been around for thousands of years. (Jeste et al.1985).
According to the Biological approach, Schizophrenia occurs due to brain abnormalities which
involves the absence of normal behaviour. Although, due to Schizophrenia being strongly genetic and
heritable, the presence of unusual behaviour may be due to underlying biological factors. (Carlson
2014) The main types of biological treatments available for Schizophrenia are Electro convulsive
therapy (ECT) and Psychosurgery, however there are other drugs therapies available for
Schizophrenia.
Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) was developed in the 1930s and is the most effective treatment for
Schizophrenia.

Being Greeted with Death s Sting
Everyday someone is greeted with the sting of death. Sometimes it occurs with or without warning.

Friend from my family. She was the glue that held me and my siblings together throughout our adult
years. It was our ritual to speak before I started and ended my day. My Mother encouraged me to
continue on through my storms. During my deployments, I could count on her prayers. My Mother
knew what words to speak to soothe me and she could build me up with her understanding. I loved
that she never took sides when my siblings and I would have disagreements. She would remind us the
importance of family ties. As a child, I could remember coming home broken because I felt like an
outcast. The children were cruel to me. I was the kid in the home made dress or the plaid pants with
the penny loafers. You see, my Mother was a single parent raising five children. We lived in low
income housing and she worked several jobs to provide the essentials. In our home there were no
name brand clothing and hand me downs were the normality. She kept us feed, clean and a roof over
our heads. My Mother loved us all equally and made us feel as if we lived above poverty. We would
always have family night on Saturday. We would dance, laugh and watch movies. It was a treat to get

The Death Of The Nazi Party

Twelve
Twelve. The age where boys around the world go to junior high for the first time. The age where some
boys have braces on their crooked teeth. The age where the voice of some boys becomes deeper.
Twelve for me means none of that. Twelve marks the year when a member of the Nazi party could
knock on our door and take me away. Twelve marks the age that I might never see my family again.
Growing up with the frenzy of the war outside my bedroom window seized my childish qualities and
innocence away from me. I do not have the option to play in the street like the others. I cannot
casually walk in the Berlin plaza freely, as it seems that every five seconds a Nazi soldier stops to
question me. I have seen guiltless people shot to death on the sidewalk by ruthless soldiers under
Adolf Hitler s command. I have seen brainwashed boys that I used to go to school with do the dirty
work for Hitler. I have seen things that the little boys and girls in America have not even seen in their
nightmares.
Being only eleven years old, I cannot remember the day my older brother went with the soldiers. They
took him to a camp in order to train in order to be like them. I really only know what my parents told
me, and they don t know that much either. The whole situation still remains a conundrum, and now it
seems that my brother became like those before him, cold and lifeless.
It alarms me that in two

Rhetorical Devices Used In The Death Of Benny Paret
In The Death of Benny Paret , the author uses rhetorical devices to give an apprehensive effect on the

amount of other rhetorical devices used help in giving the readers this effect. Griffith was
uncontrollable. This quote from the passage explains that Benny Paret was losing his fight and Griffith
was winning and the suspense builds up. Readers don t know if that fight is going to ever stop or what
will happen next. Just as important, there was an abundance of imagery throughout the passage to
bring the reader in with more to look for; to think about. ...he went down like a large ship which turns

Iolani Palace, once home to the late Queen Lili uokalani, is no exception. Iolani Palace is a historic
landmark that plays a vital key in Hawaiian history and culture. Iolani Palace was built to serve as a
monarchial seat and residence for the king or queen at the time and now functions as a museum. It is
important for people to be aware of the changes that happened at Iolani Palace because it plays a
significant role in Hawaiian history. The significance of Iolani Palace will always be represented in its
history and foundation of Hawai i; therefore, it should continue to receive funds to educate people

Examples Of Self-Justification In Criminal Justice
The criminal justice system is one of America s most inadvertently accepted institutions throughout its
history. However, the centuries old system is now deeply plagued with self justification, and it is a
bigger problem than people may think. Formulating analytical analogies on self justification.
Examining the effect of self justification that occurs both in the interrogator and the interrogated, and
showing scientific research that pinpoints the use of self justification and cognitive dissonance in
criminal justice and other institutions; All points show the injustices happening in the justice system.
Analogies of tone, purpose and point of view are all prevalent in self justification. Whenever

Saul Kassin, a professor of psychology at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York,
conducted an experiment relating to self justification within interrogators. In the experiment, Kassin
paired individuals who were either guilty or innocent of theft with interrogators who were told as well
if a person was innocent or guilty of theft. The combination of a person thinking they are innocent and
the interrogator thinking they guilty, resulted in the most amount of tension between both parties.
Kassin s experiment is a classic example of how self justification can take over a person s mind. Once
a person takes one step down the pyramid of choice, it is harder for them to see the other side, this is
exactly what happened in the experiment. Keise Izuma, another professor of psychology, conducted a
similar experiment outside of the criminal justice system. Izuma had 52 participants choose their
favorite wallpaper out of 2 selections. Izuma would then have an homes interior expert enter the
experiment room and either tell the participants they made a good decision choosing the wallpaper, or
if they had made a horrible decision. The expert either praised or scolded the participant for ten
minutes. 8/10 of the participants that were scolded switched which wallpaper

Analysis Of The Violin Concerto The Four Seasons
Antonio Vivaldi (1678 1741) was a violin virtuoso and composer who is most commonly known for
his concertos, most of which were written for violin. Born in Venice, Italy Vivaldi is considered one of
the greatest composers of the Baroque era and obtained the title of father of the concerto for his
numerous concerto pieces. His music was so impactful that even in this day and age, it is widely
popular and considered a staple in the genre of classical music.
The Baroque era lasted from 1600 to 1750 and is considered an era in which composers and artists
alike became increasingly interested in how music could enhance the expression of words (Forney
Prelude 3). Vivaldi s violin concerto The Four Seasons exhibits some of the major ... Show more

Vivaldi s violin concerto The Four Seasons can exhibit some of this artistic style with its detailed
style, yet easy to follow music helping the listener imagine the season the movement represents.
Morals and laws were starting to take interesting forms with the development of higher and lower
social classes, that would later influence how governments would rule and lead to revolutions. Finally,
the customs of the Baroque were those usually associated with the upper elite class such as wearing
powdered wigs and having largely decorated clothing. Overall the cultural climate of the Baroque era
was that which conveyed a grand and almost excessive sense of beauty that was highly ornate and
detailed.
Consequently, all of these ideologies and standards would influence Vivaldi in that his concertos and
Baroque concertos as a whole are based on the opposition between two dissimilar bodies of sound
(Forney Chapter 23). In The Four Seasons ritornello form is used which creates a central melody or
theme for most of his movements. Furthermore each movement is written in a sequence of Allegro
Adagio Allegro along with each being written as program music. Program Music is music written with
the intent to evoke an image or tell a story through the music s tempo, rhythm, notes, and overall style.
For example in the movement Spring the music evokes listener s minds to picture birds chirping and a

Essay on The Physics of Motorcycle Roadracing
Despite what some people may think, motorcycle roadracing is not only a highly strenuous sport, but
there is much more involved than just twisting the throttle and turning the handlebars. There are a
number of powerful forces working on the bike and the rider. There is, of course, the downward pull
of gravity, friction between the tires and the track, and centrifugal force which acts to the outside of
the turn. The key to cornering at high speeds is to perfect the lean angle of the motorcycle so that the
force of gravity reaches equilibrium with the centrifugal force attempting to stand the bike back up. If
the bike is leaned to far, it falls over. If it is not leaned far enough, centrifugal force pulls it back up
and the turn is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the rider would push on the left handlebar (turning the bars to the right) in order to make
a left turn. This may seem like a foreign concept at first, but it makes sense in the context of
gyroscopic motion. Consider a bicycle wheel:
The effects of gyroscopic precession can be felt when the wheel is held by the axle in the position
shown, spun, and then turned sharply to the left or right. If the wheel is turned to the left, the top will
twist to the right, pushing the bottom to the left. The same applies to a motorcycle when the wheels
are spinning very quickly and the machine is turned. Turning the handlebars to the left would force the
top of the wheel to move to the right, thus leaning the motorcycle in the opposite direction that the
wheel was turned.
The equation for this motion of the wheel is
T=IWv
where T is the torque, I is the moment of inertia, v is the wheel speed, and W is the angular velocity of
the turn. This equation relies on the conservation of the wheel s angular momentum.(Sport Rider
2002)
Steering Method #2: Body Steering
The concept of body steering relies on the rider s shifts in weight and pressure application on various
parts of the motorcycle to turn it. Theoretically, one could turn a bike without ever touching the
handlebars simply by shifting body weight. For example, to turn the bike to the left, the rider could

Explain The Four Temperaments
 The four temperaments categorises personality into four types: sanguine, choleric, melancholic and
phlegmatic.  Four temperaments is a proto psychological theory that believes that individuals are
one of the four personality types.  In Ancient Greece, these four temperaments are linked to the four
body humors (blood, yellow bile, black bile and phlegm). These four humors are also believed to be
linked with the four elements (air, fire, earth and water).  It was theorised that an unproportioned

The Status Of Women In Society
The status of women in a society is a significant reflection of the level of social justice in that society.
In the literature, women s status is commonly described in terms of their education, income,
employment, health, fertility, etc. somewhere it has shown thattheir roles within family, community
and society also. But if we are talking about tribal communities, the role playing by women is crucial
and substantial. According to the Oxford dictionary a tribe is a group of people in a primitive or

themselves as having a common ancestor . Tribalare assumed the original dwellers of this

active process enabling women to realize their full identity and power in all spheres of life
(Gnanadhas Mahalekshmi, 2011). Empowerment is a process that takes a person from a position of
powerless inaction to responsible action. The process moves through several stages from a)

for those actions. Empowerment is a complex concept and it is interpreted in many ways. It comes

Biblical Hermeneutics Essay
Biblical Hermeneutics
By: Rev. Clint A. Starnes
September 7th, 2013
In its most basic definition, biblical hermeneutics refers to the art and science of biblical
interpretation. It is considered an art because understanding, which is required for interpretation,
requires a feel for the subject matter being interpreted, not just an analyzation of data. Biblical
hermeneutics is also considered a science due to the fact that some aspects of the interpretation
process resemble the activities of natural science. Because of this dual nature of hermeneutics, it is
almost impossible for an interpreter to arrive at a neutral conclusion. Good or bad, most biblical
interpreters translate scripture based upon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A scholar of this school of thought, Theodore of Mopsuestia, stated that the primary method for
interpreting Scripture should be the grammatical historical method. This method stated that a text
should be interpreted according to the rules of grammar and the facts of history. The exegetical
principles of this school of thought laid the groundwork for modern exegesis. Augustine, who lived
from A.D. 354 430, was a genius in certain aspects of biblical exegesis. He was part of the Western
School of interpretation. He developed significant theories of biblical interpretation such as: the
interpreter must possess a genuine Christian faith the literal and historical meaning of Scripture should
be held in high regard, to name a few. Unfortunately, Augustine forsook most of his own principles
and tended to follow a method of allegorization. His theories, however, became the predominant view
of the middle ages.

The period known as Medieval Exegesis lasted from approximately A.D. 600 1500. Little original
exegesis was done, with most biblical students concentrating on compiling the works of the patriarchal
exegetes. During this period however, a four fold meaning of Scripture, originally developed by
Augustine, became the primary method of biblical interpretation. The principles of this method stated
that in each passage of Scripture there were four meanings, letter, allegory, moral, and anagogy
(eschatological). During this

Gina Kleege Blind Rage
Disability narrative is a significant type of writing that presents life experiences and point of views of
people with disabilities, either in first or third person. Autobiographies are an effective method of
communication for disabled people to express their opposing viewpoints to the ethical and logical
views of the disabled in the society (Couser). Georgina Kleege, an English professor at the University
of California Berkeley and has written many personal essays, books, and literature of this type of
writing to expand her thoughts of disability representation to her readers. One of her essays titled,
Blind Rage: An Open Letter to Helen Keller, published in 1998, Kleege writes about her experiences
with her disability blindness. She ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, she starts out the letter by describing her uneasy morning with conflicting snow, technological
problems, bad attitude of reader, etc in great detail (186 189). She took almost her first half of the
paper describing her unfortunate day. Thus, her first intention was to entertain and engage her readers,
making them want to read on. After the readers understand what s going on, there s a shift in the
structure. In the middle of the essay, she states, which brings me to the present moment and to you,
Helen Keller...This is precisely why I m writing to you (189). Kleege moves on to her main point on
why she is writing to Keller and what she wants the readers to learn. She wants to tell Keller and the
remaining audience that she s angry about the world being inaccessible to her because of her
blindness. Even more, she s unable to complain about it because of people s judgemental views in
comparing her and Keller. People would indeed say something similar to why can t you be more like
Helen Keller, especially since you re really nowhere near as bad off as she was. (190) People would
view her as an unreasonable person for complaining. With the entertaining and then concerning
structure, Kleege provides them a relaxed, enjoyable setting that makes them more likely to listen to
significant purpose she writes about

Logging And Land Conversion Activities For Agriculture And...
Logging and land conversion activities for agriculture and palm oil plantation by local communities,
small scale farms, and plantation companies in Indonesia through slash and burn method have brought
a persistent phenomenon called the Transboundary Haze Pollution (THP) in Southeast Asia.
Widespread forest/land fires and the resulting haze emerge from Sumatera and Kalimantan island,
particularly intense during the dry season, have polluted the air of Singapore and Malaysia with
poison smoke, thus causing economic, social, and environmental loss, posing serious health risk and
inflicting regional tension (Jones, 2014; World Bank, 2015 Islam et al, 2016). The government of
Indonesia has introduced a number of legislations regarding the prevention and prohibition of burning
forest and land, such as environmental protection and management and the control of pollution and
environmental damage due to land and forest fires, however, it is far from satisfactory in tackling the
THP problem. In terms of ASEAN perspectives, the ASEAN member countries have declared war
against illegal logging and forest destruction, yet, the forest and land fires still occurred (Ariadno,
2013).
Perceived economic and environmental benefits are believed to be the main contributing factor behind
these activities. The plantation firms, which are mostly owned by the Indonesian, Malaysian, and
Singaporean investor, certainly do have economic interest. Through combustion, which is the most

Conformity And Cult Development
Cult development is fascinating phenomenon that occurs all around the world. Their membership
growth is a complex interaction facilitated by conformity and manipulation. Cult membership can
have a major impact on those who are involved. Leaving a cult can cause much distress for both the ex
member and their family. It is important to understand cult affiliation factors and the development of
their membership in order to provide proper therapeutic intervention for those who leave cults.
Cults tend to appeal to individuals who have some sort of vulnerability that can be exploited. A study
done by Egan Hunter (1998) demonstrated that fact in adolescents. Adolescence is a time of extreme

Analysis of the Film Chasing Amy Essays
Analysis of the Film Chasing Amy
Chasing Amy is a movie that uncovers the hardships we find within the confusion of love and sex in
our lives. Sometimes the line between love and sex seems almost invisible, but the differences and
complications of understanding that are quite clear in this movie. The issues presented in Chasing
Amy are directly related to the discussions of Politics of Sexuality as well as everyday life in our
culture. Our culture, in contrast to Ancient Greece, uses sexuality to characterize people by their
sexual behaviors. Other cultures view sex as a raw pleasure activity while our society has elevated it
to the expression of a person s identity and moral code. Chasing Amy contributes to this view of

Banky comments to Alyssa that, Everyone needs *censored*. This statement could have the typical
misogynist meaning of male dominance and female submission to them in every way. It also could be
a subconscious truth that Banky needs *censored* because he is homosexual and uses this behavior as
a front in order to over it up. This position, that he is in love with Holden, is supported throughout the
movie but Banky is too uncomfortable with his sexuality to admit the truth. Banky s behavior masking
his homosexuality is proof of what we repeated many times in class that we question and criticize
others because it cause us to question our own reality. He was homophobic because he was
uncomfortable with not fitting society s heterosexual category. Holden is Banky s best friend but does
not have the same outlook as he. Holden seems to be an open mind individual yet he views Alyssa as a
slut when he becomes aware of her past exotic, sexual experiences, such as multiple partners. This is
the typical treatment of women who are sexually experienced with men who are too immature to deal
with it. Holden cannot continue their relationship as he judges Alyssa who is more experienced than
he. He labels her as a slut to compensate for his feelings of inadequacy. Holden pays too close
attention and gives too much significance to sex in his relationship with Alyssa. He allows his

Kwanzaa Book Review
Saint (1997) wrote a book to introduce children to the significance of the African American holiday of
Kwanzaa. Kwanzaa is a non religious cultural holiday based upon the ancient customs of Africa. The
holiday was created in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga and is the first original African American
holiday dedicated to African culture and spirituality (Saint, 1997). Additionally, the holiday is a time
where African Americans honor the traditions of their African ancestors. According to Walter (1996),
Dr. Karenga created the holiday based on the harvest festivals of several African cultures. Harvest
celebrations were traditional throughout Africa and were a time where people gave thanks for the first
fruits of their harvest (Walter, 1996). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, Saint (1997) used visual imagery to convey a message and assist the reader in
consciously and unconsciously relating the certain colors used in the book to the principles of
Kwanzaa and thus, later fostering a sense of pride whenever the colors are seen. For example, Saint
(1997) used the colors red, black, and green throughout the book to help children identify these colors
as symbols of the Holiday. Therefore, when the child later sees the colors they will automatically
relate the colors to the holiday, which will in turn assist the child in remembering the pride instilling
principles expressed by the holiday. Saint (1997) also explained in detail the significance of Kwanzaa
as well as the importance and meaning of its seven principles. Also, in order to clarify the meaning of
the principles, Saint (1997) explained the principles in writing as well as with a corresponding picture.
This in turn, provided the child with a visual representation to identify with the written explanation.
Additionally, Saint (1997) used phonetic spelling in addition to the standard spelling in order to help
the reader pronounce the African principles correctly. Overall, Saint (1997) did an excellent job of not
only introducing African American children to their African culture, but also attempting to instill a

The Most Important Event in My Life Essay example
The Most Important Event in my Life
The most important event in my life, didn t even happen to myself, but happened to my older sister,
Becky. The reason I am writing about her is because the things that have happened to her and the
things she has done in the past have affected me tremendously as well as my family. Her life used to
be filled with nothing else but drugs, stealing, and lying. My family has never been the same since
then.
It all started out when my very shy, self conscious sister didn t really fit in well. She was 16, chubby
and had very few friends. One day Becky s best friend Debbie introduced her to 19 year old guy name
John. Becky and John hit it off very well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

canceled, so we stayed an extra day. The next day I finally get home, not to find a warm home with
my family greeting me at the door, but instead to find my parents and my sister with a couple of
suitcases in their hands walking to the car. I proceed to ask my mother what was wrong with my sister
and she replied with Yesterday Becky confessed that for the past year, she has been doing heroin. My
heart sank. I never thought it was that serious. My parents took her to rehab, and I went into my room
and cried the rest of the day.
My parents came back, surprisingly still with my sister. They said that the rehab wouldn t take my
sister because she was 18 and a legal adult and could easily sign herself out whenever she wanted. The
rehab told my parents that Becky would have to face her withdrawals at home. Now I never knew how
people acted when they went through withdrawals, but I do know now that it has to be the most
painful and frightening sight I have ever seen. Becky had to stay in my parents

Disadvantages Of Job Fairs
Job seekers typically search corporate websites first during the job search process. Posting jobs on
company websites casts a broad net, capturing the interest of the largest possible talent pool. Potential
employees are instantly exposed to company highlights, diversity information, employee benefits, and
work life balance programs (Cascio, 2016). Career fairs are typically industry specific which
automatically refines the talent pool. Most career fairs require an upfront participation fee however,
companies can discern qualified candidates from unqualified candidates rather quickly and save an
exorbitant amount of recruitment expenses (Career Trend, 2017). Also, this platform generates high
applicant flow. External recruitment allows companies to choose from a talent pool who could have
been recently trained or educated therefore having up to date knowledge and skills (Cascio, 2016).
Because external candidates have not been exposed to office politics and office norms they are more
likely to accept change and innovation (Cascio, 2016). Lastly, external recruitment provides a
convenient way to satisfy job place diversity requirements through hiring minorities and women
(Cascio, 2016). DISADVANTAGES OF RECRUITMENT ADVERTISING AND CAREER FAIRS
Several issues arise due to the large talent pool attracted from posting open positions on company
websites. Often times, applicants have an incomplete and/or inaccurate understanding of what the job

The Illusions Of Education In Plato s The Republic
In the Republic, Plato starts his argument by saying that education in music and poetry should occur
before any physical training. This is due to the fact that our mental abilities develop much faster than
our physical strength. We use our brains to analyze the world around us by listening and learning from
others. When we re younger, our brains are more malleable and easier to manipulate. As children, we
re more likely to believe every story we hear because we don t know any better. Since children don t
know the difference between what s allegorical and what s the truth, everything presented to them is
the truth. Plato expresses his concern for this, as most of the stories children hear include arguing and
punishment. Children will then take this as the truth and view fighting as a normal and a reasonable
way to solve conflict. This is what makes narrative art and drama dangerous for children, who more or
less start off as decent people but are then corrupted by the allegories they hear during their childhood.
Adults, on the other hand, can still be corrupted by narrative art, though it s not as simple. Art uses
illusions to make one ignore the truth. Plato uses the example of a stick looking crooked when it s in
water. Despite our knowledge of the fact that the stick is indeed straight, we still see it as bent. The
same concept applies to illusions in art. As Plato describes, while we know that a trompe l œil painting
is two dimensional, we still see the objects within the painting as three dimensional. We can walk into
an art gallery with the pre conceived notion that every painting is in fact only two dimensional, and
still fall victim to the illusion. This, Plato states, is because it appeals to the inferior part of the human
soul. It ignores truth and measurements and is irrational to the point where it shouldn t make sense.
We re drawn to this inferior part of our soul as it allows us to rebel in ways that wouldn t be deemed
moral in other regards.
Poets, Plato believes, work in the same way as trompe l œil paintings. They are presented in one way
but represent something completely different. Poets create images that are far removed from the truth ,
therefore indulging the irrational part of the

for almost every trial conducted. See Figure 1. Equations 1 and 2 demonstrate how the conversions
were performed and how moles/ molecular weights of each substance were incorporated in the

The Prolonged Identity Crisis Economic Difference of East and West Germany
In February of 1945, the Nazi Germans got defeated and soon surrendered to the allied powers.
Germany s nation was split between the four allied powers: United States, Great Britain, Soviet
Union, and France. In addition, the capital city of Berlin was also divided amongst the Allied Powers
into four sections. However, tensions among the Western Powers and Soviet Union caused a shift into
a Cold War. In 1949, Germany and the city of Berlin got divided into two nations in which became
known as the West and East Germany. West Germany is known as the Federal Republic of Germany
(FRG) and is supported by the three Western Powers. East Germany is known as the German
Democratic Republic (GDR) and is governed by the Soviet Union. The Western Powers and the Soviet
Union created different philosophy within the territories that they governed. Each of the territory has
its own identity, economy outlook, and lifestyle.
East Germany and West Germany struggles to identify their social identity because of the
reconstruction of the German society guided by the Western Powers and Soviet Union. The GDR was
closely monitored by the Soviets and FRG was overseen by the Western Powers. As tensions increased

Glomerulonephritis Essay
Glomerulonephritis (GN), or the inflammation of glomeruli, is a leading cause of renal failure
worldwide. Inflammation is characterized by vascular fragility, infiltration of leukocytes, and edema.
Glomerular disease may manifest by three major syndromes: nephritic syndrome, nephrotic syndrome,
and rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis (RPGN). Nephritic syndrome consists of sudden onset of
hematuria, non nephrotic range proteinuria (1.5 g/24 h), active sediment with red blood cell (RBC)
casts or dysmorphic RBCs, acute renal failure, and hypertension. Nephrotic syndrome is characterized
by heavy proteinuria ( 3.5 g/24 h), edema, hypoalbuminemia, and hyperlipidemia. RPGN is
characterized by active sediment (RBC casts and dysmorphic RBCs) and rapid development of acute
renal failure usually over a period of weeks to months. Glomerulonephritis accounts for the majority
of progressive renal disease in many parts of the world.
ETIOLOGY
Glomerulonephritis has diverse etiologies related to disorders of the immune system, including
abnormal immunoglobulin and complement regulation. Glomerulonephritis is caused by immune
processes that lead to deposition of antibodies and complement within the glomerulus. This results in

Analysis Of Red Dog
Australian Film allows the rest of the world to have an insight into our way of life, our communities
and our land. Australian film usually provides a hard working and hardy stereotype who lives in the
outback and takes pride in his mates, and for a lot of the country, this is mostly true. The typical
Australian is a laid back, hard working community member who prides the relationship they have with
their mates, who may not even be a person. The saying a man s best friend is his dog is incredibly true
for many, especially Australians, where dogs can be found in all walks of life. At least, this is Kriv
Stender s perspective of Australian identity, seen in his 2011 film Red Dog.
Red Dog tells the story of a dog who wandered around the outback before settling down in Dampier, a
mining town of north Western Australia. There he finds himself a home and a family, within the close
knit community. This reflects Stender s perspective of the Australian identity, and what qualities are
valued within Australian culture.
The environment within the film shows a vast, dry and barren land, coated in a layer of red dust that is
iconic within Australian film, and builds onto the identity. This is red dirt is so rich in its colour, and
this can be seen in the scene where Red Dog earns his name, after being coated in the dust while
sitting on the back of a trailer as it travelled across the land. The wide angle camera shots used in the
scenes prior to this show the large emptiness of the

Lincoln-Douglas Debate Essay examples
Every single moment that takes place in history arguably leaves an effect that lasts much longer than
just the initial outcome. The Lincoln Douglas Debates are by far one of the truest examples of this
happening. The seven debates between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas that took place in 1858
had extreme importance in Illinois that created effects that decided the presidential election of 1860.
The Lincoln Douglas debates were a series of several debates that took place all over the state of
Illinois. In these debates, two men argued in order to express their beliefs and standpoints on certain
issues, primarily slavery, in an attempt to be elected into a seat in the U.S. Senate. The two men that
participated in these debates were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Abraham Lincoln began as a lawyer born in Kentucky who gained attention to himself through having
contrasting beliefs to Douglas over the topic of slavery. Through the Lincoln Douglas debates, Lincoln
morphed into a candidate prepared to become an unforgettable president (History).
On June 16, 1858 made the statement a house divided against itself cannot stand, in a speech about
slavery, deeply contrasting with Douglas s views and speaking about the conspiracy of the democratic
plot to get slavery legalized in every state. This conspiracy, of course, was being partly conspired by
Stephen Douglas. Three weeks later, Stephen Douglas refuted these claims while also calling Abraham
Lincoln a dangerous abolitionist (Looking for Lincoln). Being an abolitionist at the time held a very
negative connotation because abolitionists were often irrational extremists (Morel 4). The following
evening, in the exact same place as Douglas had spoken, Lincoln spoke once more.
The Lincoln Douglas debates all began due to the fact that Douglas had been travelling all over the
state of Illinois making speeches in order to increase the likelihood of his chance to be reelected into
the U.S. Senate. More often than not, less than a week later, sometimes the very same night, the
annoying Republican candidate, Lincoln would follow suit and speak to the same group of

Three Hispanic Traditions
Hispanic traditions are passed down through the generations to emphasize the sacredness of family
devotion and cement the bonds that bind with love, honor, and the transmittal of wisdom. The
Hispanic people are distinctively indigenous representatives of predominately Spanish speaking
countries which recognize three essential holidays: Cinco de Mayo, Mexican Independence Day, and
Puerto Rican Emancipation Day. With food, fun, parades, and parties, Mexicans jubilantly observe
Cinco de Mayo in remembrance of a small Mexican army s triumph over the much publicized, high
caliber French army during the Battle of Pueblo in the French and Mexican War. The holiday is
significant because it reminds the people of courage, heart, and determination exhibited

Analysis Of The Movie The Wall
The Wall Film Analysis
The Wall is one of the most popular and regarded albums of a band known as Pink Floyd. The album
was then turned into a movie whose screenplay was written by Rodger Waters, a member of the band.
The film adaptation of the album is based on events that occurred during Rodger Waters life and uses
multiple design elements to shape the viewers sense of the characters, narrative, and themes of the
film while using little dialogue and mainly telling the story though the use of songs off of the album.
The songs from the album played throughout the film are used to tell the story of a troubles rock star
as the film flashes back and forth from his past, his present self in reality. but also how he visualizes
his present self from his state of mind.
Beginning with the opening scene, the design elements used already begin to shapes the viewers
understanding of the film. The image of a long and grey hallways is the first image the viewer sees. As
the camera dollies in to the end of the hallway where a maid is cleaning rooms, the viewer can already
sense the depressing feeling the scene is creating with the use of grey colors. When this image cuts
out, the opening credits are shown, then followed by a man lighting a lantern. The lighting is very
dark, which is seen again and again throughout the film, and the man s face is only illuminated by this
small sense of light. Due to his costume, the audience can tell that he is a respected and high ranking

Melisman Vs. Freeman Summary
Stakeholders encase all individuals and groups who in one way or another are impacted by the
presence, successes, or failure of a business. Employees, suppliers, managers, the community,
customers, competition, the government, and stockholders are all considered, in the broadest sense, to
be stakeholders. Stockholders, unlike the rest, in addition to being stakeholders, are their own little
group. Stockholders are the owners or public and private limited companies. Companies have the right
to restrict ownership, and spread it over as few or as many individuals as they wish. Stockholders own
pieces of the company and with that have a vested interest in the financial growth of the company.
Money speaks, and in all cases, with the exception of eleemosynary companies, the owners are most
concerned with making profit. Together stakeholders and stockholders comprise all crucial groups in
business affairs. Business theories plot the two against each other, as business can only be managed to
favorably manage one of the two. Edward Freeman and Milton Friedman, two highly respected
individuals were the faces of the square off. Freeman believed that firms should center themselves on

Freeman believes that firms should center there managerial approaches around the appeasement of
stakeholders. Freeman firmly believes in what goes around comes around; much of his philosophy is
based upon the ideology that relationships run circular. He specified that if a firm was good to their
supplier than the supplier would be good to the firm; if the firm were to run into financial trouble,
Freeman suggested that the suppliers might extend billing periods and maintain prices. Within the
same idea, Freeman also pointed out that the same was true with customer service. Customers,
stakeholders, when well provided for with customer service, are likely to continue coming to the
establishment and providing

There are those who, by nature, do not possess such personal aspiration, seeking preventative measures to avoid conception. Still there are those who long for a tiny biological life, which cannot be traditionally conceived or carried to term due to a failure of mechanisms within the body beyond the control of the intended parents. Such problematic infertility issues have prompted would be parents to turn to surrogacy arrangements to acquire a gestational surrogate, a woman who would consent to implantation and of a couple s embryo created through in vitro fertilization (IVF) and carrying the fetus to termination should a pregnancy result. Design for Manufacturability Design For Manufacturability Abstract This paper explores design for manufacturability using several scholarly journal articles and books from different sources and industries. It starts by examining the definition of design for manufacturability as it pertains to managers of supply chains. The paper then discusses a fundamental topic that provides a foundation for learning design for manufacturability: the principles of design. The next section of this paper outlines the benefits that design for manufacturability has if a company chooses to implement it into their operations. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The solution of one problem most likely will not result in total success for the entire project, as it is a part of a system. The fifth principle is the limited information principle. The traditional problem solving approach is to bring in a consultant who is an expert in supposedly similar problems or to become an expert in the problem yourself by delving into past problems that seem familiar. (McClure, 1999) Information should be limited so that, like traditional problem solving, it is not time consuming and cluttered with useless information. The people to people principle is the sixth principle suggested by Nadler. Anyone that has to do with any area of the problem needs to feel that they are included in implementing a solution. The final principle discussed is the betermant timeline principle. The familiar phrase If it ain t broke, don t fix it can only be used for the short term. Over time, everything wears out eventually due to change in external and internal factors. Solutions to problems should be monitored to help track change and evaluate improvement. (McClure, 1999) Requirements Before Pursuing Design for Manufacturability After learning about these principles to design, one can now start to understand design for manufacturability and its effects on the design and manufacturing process. In the experiment, Kassin paired individuals who were either guilty or innocent of theft with interrogators who were told as well if a person was innocent or guilty of theft. The combination of a person thinking they are innocent and the interrogator thinking they guilty, resulted in the most amount of tension between both parties. Kassin s experiment is a classic example of how self justification can take over a person s mind. Once a person takes one step down the pyramid of choice, it is harder for them to see the other side, this is exactly what happened in the experiment. Overall the cultural climate of the Baroque era was that which conveyed a grand and almost excessive sense of beauty that was highly ornate and detailed. • 15. Essay on The Physics of Motorcycle Roadracing Despite what some people may think, motorcycle roadracing is not only a highly strenuous sport, but there is much more involved than just twisting the throttle and turning the handlebars. There are a number of powerful forces working on the bike and the rider. There is, of course, the downward pull of gravity, friction between the tires and the track, and centrifugal force which acts to the outside of the turn. The key to cornering at high speeds is to perfect the lean angle of the motorcycle so that the force of gravity reaches equilibrium with the centrifugal force attempting to stand the bike back up. If the bike is leaned to far, it falls over. If it is not leaned far enough, centrifugal force pulls it back up and the turn is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the rider would push on the left handlebar (turning the bars to the right) in order to make a left turn. This may seem like a foreign concept at first, but it makes sense in the context of gyroscopic motion. Consider a bicycle wheel: The effects of gyroscopic precession can be felt when the wheel is held by the axle in the position shown, spun, and then turned sharply to the left or right. If the wheel is turned to the left, the top will twist to the right, pushing the bottom to the left. The same applies to a motorcycle when the wheels are spinning very quickly and the machine is turned. Turning the handlebars to the left would force the top of the wheel to move to the right, thus leaning the motorcycle in the opposite direction that the wheel was turned. The equation for this motion of the wheel is T=IWv where T is the torque, I is the moment of inertia, v is the wheel speed, and W is the angular velocity of the turn. This equation relies on the conservation of the wheel s angular momentum.(Sport Rider 2002) Steering Method #2: Body Steering The concept of body steering relies on the rider s shifts in weight and pressure application on various parts of the motorcycle to turn it. Theoretically, one could turn a bike without ever touching the handlebars simply by shifting body weight. For example, to turn the bike to the left, the rider could simply ... Starnes September 7th, 2013 In its most basic definition, biblical hermeneutics refers to the art and science of biblical interpretation. It is considered an art because understanding, which is required for interpretation, requires a feel for the subject matter being interpreted, not just an analyzation of data. Biblical hermeneutics is also considered a science due to the fact that some aspects of the interpretation process resemble the activities of natural science. This method stated that a text should be interpreted according to the rules of grammar and the facts of history. The exegetical principles of this school of thought laid the groundwork for modern exegesis. Augustine, who lived from A.D. 354 430, was a genius in certain aspects of biblical exegesis. He was part of the Western School of interpretation. He developed significant theories of biblical interpretation such as: the interpreter must possess a genuine Christian faith the literal and historical meaning of Scripture should be held in high regard, to name a few. Unfortunately, Augustine forsook most of his own principles and tended to follow a method of allegorization. His theories, however, became the predominant view of the middle ages. 3 The period known as Medieval Exegesis lasted from approximately A.D. 600 1500. Little original exegesis was done, with most biblical students concentrating on compiling the works of the patriarchal exegetes. During this period however, a four fold meaning of Scripture, originally developed by Augustine, became the primary method of biblical interpretation. Logging and land conversion activities for agriculture and palm oil plantation by local communities, small scale farms, and plantation companies in Indonesia through slash and burn method have brought a persistent phenomenon called the Transboundary Haze Pollution (THP) in Southeast Asia. Widespread forest/land fires and the resulting haze emerge from Sumatera and Kalimantan island, particularly intense during the dry season, have polluted the air of Singapore and Malaysia with poison smoke, thus causing economic, social, and environmental loss, posing serious health risk and inflicting regional tension (Jones, 2014; World Bank, 2015 Islam et al, 2016). The government of Indonesia has introduced a number of legislations regarding the prevention and prohibition of burning forest and land, such as environmental protection and management and the control of pollution and environmental damage due to land and forest fires, however, it is far from satisfactory in tackling the THP problem. In terms of ASEAN perspectives, the ASEAN member countries have declared war against illegal logging and forest destruction, yet, the forest and land fires still occurred (Ariadno, 2013). Kwanzaa is a non religious cultural holiday based upon the ancient customs of Africa. The holiday was created in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga and is the first original African American holiday dedicated to African culture and spirituality (Saint, 1997). Additionally, the holiday is a time where African Americans honor the traditions of their African ancestors. Harvest celebrations were traditional throughout Africa and were a time where people gave thanks for the first fruits of their harvest (Walter, 1996). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, Saint (1997) used visual imagery to convey a message and assist the reader in consciously and unconsciously relating the certain colors used in the book to the principles of Kwanzaa and thus, later fostering a sense of pride whenever the colors are seen. For example, Saint (1997) used the colors red, black, and green throughout the book to help children identify these colors as symbols of the Holiday. Therefore, when the child later sees the colors they will automatically relate the colors to the holiday, which will in turn assist the child in remembering the pride instilling principles expressed by the holiday. Saint (1997) also explained in detail the significance of Kwanzaa as well as the importance and meaning of its seven principles. Also, in order to clarify the meaning of the principles, Saint (1997) explained the principles in writing as well as with a corresponding picture. This in turn, provided the child with a visual representation to identify with the written explanation. Additionally, Saint (1997) used phonetic spelling in addition to the standard spelling in order to help the reader pronounce the African principles correctly. Posting jobs on company websites casts a broad net, capturing the interest of the largest possible talent pool. Potential employees are instantly exposed to company highlights, diversity information, employee benefits, and work life balance programs (Cascio, 2016). Career fairs are typically industry specific which automatically refines the talent pool. Most career fairs require an upfront participation fee however, companies can discern qualified candidates from unqualified candidates rather quickly and save an exorbitant amount of recruitment expenses (Career Trend, 2017). • 34. The Illusions Of Education In Plato s The Republic In the Republic, Plato starts his argument by saying that education in music and poetry should occur before any physical training. This is due to the fact that our mental abilities develop much faster than our physical strength. We use our brains to analyze the world around us by listening and learning from others. When we re younger, our brains are more malleable and easier to manipulate. As children, we re more likely to believe every story we hear because we don t know any better. Since children don t know the difference between what s allegorical and what s the truth, everything presented to them is the truth. Plato expresses his concern for this, as most of the stories children hear include arguing and punishment. Children will then take this as the truth and view fighting as a normal and a reasonable way to solve conflict. This is what makes narrative art and drama dangerous for children, who more or less start off as decent people but are then corrupted by the allegories they hear during their childhood. Adults, on the other hand, can still be corrupted by narrative art, though it s not as simple. Art uses illusions to make one ignore the truth. Plato uses the example of a stick looking crooked when it s in water. Despite our knowledge of the fact that the stick is indeed straight, we still see it as bent. The same concept applies to illusions in art. As Plato describes, while we know that a trompe l œil painting is two dimensional, we still see the objects within the painting as three dimensional. We can walk into an art gallery with the pre conceived notion that every painting is in fact only two dimensional, and still fall victim to the illusion. This, Plato states, is because it appeals to the inferior part of the human soul. It ignores truth and measurements and is irrational to the point where it shouldn t make sense. We re drawn to this inferior part of our soul as it allows us to rebel in ways that wouldn t be deemed moral in other regards. Poets, Plato believes, work in the same way as trompe l œil paintings. They are presented in one way but represent something completely different. Poets create images that are far removed from the truth , therefore indulging the irrational part of the ... At least, this is Kriv Stender s perspective of Australian identity, seen in his 2011 film Red Dog. Red Dog tells the story of a dog who wandered around the outback before settling down in Dampier, a mining town of north Western Australia. There he finds himself a home and a family, within the close knit community. This reflects Stender s perspective of the Australian identity, and what qualities are valued within Australian culture. The environment within the film shows a vast, dry and barren land, coated in a layer of red dust that is iconic within Australian film, and builds onto the identity. This is red dirt is so rich in its colour, and this can be seen in the scene where Red Dog earns his name, after being coated in the dust while sitting on the back of a trailer as it travelled across the land. The wide angle camera shots used in the scenes prior to this show the large emptiness of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through the Lincoln Douglas debates, Lincoln morphed into a candidate prepared to become an unforgettable president (History). On June 16, 1858 made the statement a house divided against itself cannot stand, in a speech about slavery, deeply contrasting with Douglas s views and speaking about the conspiracy of the democratic plot to get slavery legalized in every state. This conspiracy, of course, was being partly conspired by Stephen Douglas. Three weeks later, Stephen Douglas refuted these claims while also calling Abraham Lincoln a dangerous abolitionist (Looking for Lincoln). Being an abolitionist at the time held a very negative connotation because abolitionists were often irrational extremists (Morel 4). The following evening, in the exact same place as Douglas had spoken, Lincoln spoke once more. The Lincoln Douglas debates all began due to the fact that Douglas had been travelling all over the state of Illinois making speeches in order to increase the likelihood of his chance to be reelected into the U.S. Senate. More often than not, less than a week later, sometimes the very same night, the annoying Republican candidate, Lincoln would follow suit and speak to the same group of ... • 45. Melisman Vs. Freeman Summary Stakeholders encase all individuals and groups who in one way or another are impacted by the presence, successes, or failure of a business. Employees, suppliers, managers, the community, customers, competition, the government, and stockholders are all considered, in the broadest sense, to be stakeholders. Stockholders, unlike the rest, in addition to being stakeholders, are their own little group. Stockholders are the owners or public and private limited companies. Companies have the right to restrict ownership, and spread it over as few or as many individuals as they wish. Stockholders own pieces of the company and with that have a vested interest in the financial growth of the company. Money speaks, and in all cases, with the exception of eleemosynary companies, the owners are most concerned with making profit. Together stakeholders and stockholders comprise all crucial groups in business affairs. Business theories plot the two against each other, as business can only be managed to favorably manage one of the two.
