Northern Lights By Philip Pullman
Northern Lights is one of the bestselling book written by Philip Pullman who is a very well renowned
British writer. Most of his work related to fiction which is very popular in children and young adults.
Pullman has received many awards in which Carnegie Medal (1995) and Whitbread Book of the year
awards are the important ones. Pullman has also won Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, which is
consider to be very distinguish and prestige award for the writers who work for children literature. The
real fame Pullman receives from The Trilogy which was a series of novel related to adult fantasy for
dark materials. The series of novels published from 1995 2000. Northern Lights.
Pullman describes his dark material by using two characters, pre teens Lyra Belacqua Will Parry. Both
the characters travel through different worlds in order to find out the truth about death, sin, humanity
and God. The basic ideology behind this trilogy is to discuss the elements of innocence and its loss.
Pullman tried to explain innocence through his Dark Materials in which emphasis is given to

According to the writer, children are free from sins because they morally born pure. It s just they lose
this innocence later in life because of the experiences they acquire from the surroundings. Novel
Northern Lights consists of three parts in which the first part expresses the romantic idea related to
child innocence in contrast of Christian theological concepts regarding original sin. The second
chapter represents the overall existence of children regarding how they portrayed in contrast of
antagonist faction. Childhood innocence and modern ideas related to the relation of children with
respect to their categorization is also well explained by the writer. The last part is all about the division
between childhood and adulthood. The views related to innocence and experience is also well
expressed by the

Children Need a Healthy Breakfast
How Not Having a Healthy Meal in the Morning affects Children America is often referred to as the
most developed country worldwide where everything is easily accessible to residents. Recent research
has shown that 50 million Americans lack access to safe and nutritious food in the home, 17 million of
which are children. A perfect example of this can be seen in the recent film, A Place at the Table
where. Rosie, an 8 year old girl living in Colorado expressed the difficulty that she finds in
concentrating in school due to stomach discomfort. According to Rosie she spends most of her time in
class fighting her cravings while uncontrollably thinking of apples, oranges and bananas. Rosie is just
one of the 17 million children who does not have desert at nights. Most times when you picture a
starving child, America is the last place to come to mind. Being one of the most economically
advanced countries in the world, America is said to be the land of dreams and opportunities and the
home of proud citizens. However, in the recent film A Place at the Table , this idea was tarnished. The
film sought to expose the presence of hunger in the United States through the documentation of the
life of Americans who are unable to afford food. Jeff Bridges took on the role of a devoted advocate in
the battle against starvation in America. The US Department of Agriculture s statistical findings
revealed that out of the 50 million American residents that do not consume healthy nutritious

The Importance Of Goal Setting And Job Enrichment
In reading the The Elizabeth Layman article the reader tends to get an indepth outline of how job
redsighn can be accomplished. The nature of this reorganization included many elements including
goal setting and job enrichment. I hope, in the following pages, to show the reader how both of the
areas were approached.
This first question I would like to answer is, how are the principles of goal setting applied? As many
people are aware, goal setting is one of the best ways to improve employee motivation. This
motivation is maximized by setting clear, achievable goals and then making employees accountable to
those goals. It is said that goal setting can improve the way an employee performs by as much as
twenty five percent.
In this article goal, setting plays a very influential role in the redesign of the extended Health
Information Management system. The most obvious instances of goal setting were setting the physical
goals of implementing the new system and the benchmarks of service it had to achieve. The overall
goal was to have effective systems in place that would help manage the new system efficiently, while
covering all of the changing requirements in the industry. Some of the goal setting were not quite as
obvious. Take for example the area of performance reports. The performance report is only successful
if you set a standard fro what the performance is required to be. Once this goal is set regular
evaluation is needed to see where people stand in relation to

Where Cultures Collide
Does other people s cultures affect how you view the world? Some people stray way from their culture
and people view them differently. Culture really affects how people live and how other people view
things and how they think about other people. Where Cultures Collide , Everyday Use and What is

important.
In Pico Iyer s short story, Where Cultures Collide He shows how others stick to their culture. They see

Kelo V. City Of New London Case Study
One of the primary instances, and landmark cases, that spurred more debates on imminent domain is
the Kelo vs City of New London case. In Kelo v. City of New London, the Supreme Court held that
economic development constituted a public use that justified the taking of private property through
eminent domain. (R N.Y, 2016). Property rights have always been a challenge in every civilization.
This case garnered a lot of interest from the media and in turn that of the rest of U.S residents as it
shocked the nation. The case is related to a development project that the city wanted to undertake to
make the best use of the land in the area. The town of New London, a small city within Connecticut,
experienced downward spiraling economy when

John Locke s Theory Of Personal Identity In The 2000 Film...
The world of film for many is a wondrous place. It can be a place to escape reality, to relax, to learn,
or to philosophize all we have to do is look. In this case the 2000 film Memento by ... can also act as a
gateway to understanding John Locke s memory theory of personal identity. Locke s theory, in
summary, states that one s identity exists as far back as one can consciously remember. Whether it was
your fourth birthday party or your high school graduation, as far back as you can remember is where
your identity begins. Which is where the dilemma of Leonard Shelby comes into play. Leonard Shelby
suffers from a condition of anterograde amnesia, where he cannot create new memories, however,
long term memories from before his accident remain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, instead of the photo becoming clearer, the photo fades, just as our own memories fade.
Which leads to the question: are Leonard s memories even reliable? At the end of the film Teddy tells
Leonard that it was actually his wife that was the diabetic, not Sammy Jankis and that he killed his
wife by injecting her with insulin. The film then shows Leonard injecting his wife on the bed, but then
switches quickly back to him pinching her. This could actually be a way of telling the audience that
Leonard is suppressing his memories so that he can create another mystery/puzzle to figure out. He
might not only be suppressing his memories but altering them as well. There is a moment in the film
where Sammy is sitting in a chair in what appears to be a mental institution. For a short moment
Sammy is replaced by Leonard, who is then replaced by Sammy, further proving that Leonard s
memories may not be as reliable as were let on. His story might have instead combined with that of
Sammy s morphing his memories into something he believes. Teddy even touches on this when he
says that Leonards story of Sammy Jankis, Gets better every time you tell it. Which indicates some
alteration of the story. Which brings the question again, who is Leonard? Teddy sums this up very well
at the end of the film when he asks Leonard You don t know who you are...That s who you were. That
s not...what you ve become. If this speculation happens to be true then Leonard Shelby as he once was
before the accident no longer exists. He is now a hybrid between Sammy and his previous self. As
Locke mentioned, so that whatever has the consciousness of present and past actions, is the same
person to whom they both belong (Locke). However Leonard s past actions cannot be confirmed, not
by himself, nor Teddy; the picture is not entirely clear. It doesn t help that Leonard s present actions
memory can only last for so long. A perfect

How Does Marjane Use Forgiveness In Persepolis
Persepolis Essay #1 Marjane Satrapi is a girl who lives in a country ruled by a man not loved by the
people. It is a place where many struggles happen and where she is forced to grow up and understand
the things happening around her. The author of this book conveys the theme of forgiveness through
internal conflict and her use of comics and images in the Persepolis novel. In the beginning of the
novel, Marjane has her life turned around when the shah of her country, Iran, started passing many
rules and regulations, which the people did not like. As a result, the people started to protest in the
streets and many would get hurt or worse trying voice their beliefs. An example of how this led to
Marjane believing the wrong things about people from what she heard from others is ... Show more

At least for now, Marjane is being taught to see things in a new light and this will help her in the way
the her mother intends. On the other hand, while Marjane s mother struggles to correctly teach her 10
year old daughter how to forgive, she and her husband still participate in the demonstrations taking
place around their town instead of setting a better example for their daughter. In a way, while Marjane
s mother tries to teach her one thing, her actions and the things she says with her father and the outside
world may teach Marjane otherwise. They both talk about the injustice of the regime in their country
freely and openly in front of Marjane without even thinking about the way they could be sending
mixed messages to their daughter. An example of how this has affected Marjane is the way her mother
reacts when they find someone close to them was executed while in prison and how two other family
friends, at their reunion described the way they were tortured and how their other cell mate, a member
of the guerillas, was also executed

Mabo Case
Legal studies Law Reform
Legal studies Law Reform
The Australian Legal System response to the Mabo case has changed greatly ever since the first time it
was introduced. Many different acts were introduced and/or amended as a result of this case. The
effectiveness of the law and the law reform in protecting the rights of individual and society at large is
demonstrated throughout this essay.
Eddie Koiki Mabo was born on Murray Island in 1936 and was an Indigenous Australian. In 1974,
during a conversation with two academics, Mabo became aware to the fact that his family did not own
their traditional lands and that it was, in law, owned by the Crown. The Queensland Government
wanted to remove any doubt that the Meriam people had total ... Show more content on

The Mabo decision ended the idea of terra nullius in relation to Australia, when it recognised the
Meriam people as the owners of the Murray Islands. It also opened the door for other Indigenous
groups to be able to claim ownership of land that they could prove a continuous connection with.
Unfortunately Eddie Mabo had died of cancer in February 1992, just 4 months before this historic
high court ruling that would change Australian land law. The judgement was so historic because it
completely overturned the idea of terra nullius and said that native title survived in many places, even
though the land had been taken by the Crown. With Terra Nullius distinguished, it proved the point
that Murray Islands first inhabitants were in fact the Meriam people.
With the Mabo case being successful many other cases came about for example Wik Peoples v. The
State of Queensland (also known as the Wik Decision). It is a decision of the High Court of Australia
in December 1996, regarding the right of access by the Wik peoples of Cape York Peninsula in North
Queensland to Crown land held under pastoral leases for cattle grazing. The court decided (4 judges to
3) that the rights of indigenous people who can prove a connection to the land can coexist with the
rights of the pastoralists, but where there is any inconsistency between the two, the rights of the
pastoralist will prevail. In other words, pastoral leases do not automatically

Who Is The Best Way For You Grow Our Money More Than Our...
When I m around 65 years old, I want to have the ability to quit working. I want, like almost all
Americans want, to be able to retire. Well, the trouble with that is that I, and just about everyone else,
probably won t have enough money to be able to retire just from the saved income from our jobs and
from social security. We ll have to take the money we save from our earnings and try to make it grow.
So the problem then lies in finding the best way to invest our savings so that it grows, like in this
image, large enough, and crucially, safe enough, to be able to retire upon. I think, that the best way to
grow our money large and safe enough is called an index fund. So today, I m going to explain what
index funds are, and why they re better than our other investing options. Owning stocks in general is
really pretty simple. In fact, it s a lot like owning cows. You can spend all of your money on one cow
that looks perfect, but then there s a lot to worry about. For instance, you have to worry about that cow
dying to disease or falling in a ravine or getting struck by lightening or getting lost. Or you can share
an entire herd of cows with a few other investors. Think about how much safer you are! The
likelihood of losing a whole herd to something is pretty small, and something really terrible would
have to happen. How does that relate to stocks? Well individual stock picking is like owning one cow,
while index funds are like owning the herd. And just like your cow could get

Hamlet s Weaknesses
Hamlet is one of the most complex characters in literature. He changes a lot throughout the story. His
mental state is what really leads to his death and the death of the King, Queen, and Laertes.
Hamlet has a couple weaknesses throughout the story. His first weakness or flaw would be in the very
beginning where he seems crazy in love with Ophelia. Polonius asks Ophelia, talking about Hamlet Is
he crazy with love for you? Ophelia replys I m not sure, but I m afraid he might be (Hamlet, 83).
Polonius is Ophelia s father and he says he has seen many girls fall for Hamlet s tricks and they all end
up with a broken heart. He was warning his daughter to stay away from Hamlet and to send all of
letters back and not give him the time of day. This is when Hamlet started acting crazy towards
Ophelia and his main weakness in this part was love. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One good example of this weakness would be in act 3 scene 2 when Hamlet has characters perform
the play called Mousetrap . The play was altered by Hamlet to reenact how Claudius murdered Hamlet
s father. Lucianus pours the poison into the sleeping king s ear (Hamlet, 173) . At this point Claudius
realizes that the whole play was intended to reenact what had happened in real life and he begins to
get very upset and stops the play. The reason this shows the weakness of Hamlet is because Claudius
has Hamlet arranged to be killed as soon as he is sailed off to another area. Claudius could not put the
heavy law down on Hamlet because everyone in Denmark loved him so much. Hamlet should have
thought this whole thing through a little more and realized that by doing this play, Claudius would get
upset and have to do something to stop everyone from finding out the truth. If Hamlet spent more time
thinking about the outcome he probably would have chosen a different way of approaching this

The Pros And Cons Of Piracy
Fourth recommendation is strengthening Government Policy and Domestic Legal Framework against
Armed Robbery ship and Piracy. International law government aim has relationship between all
countries. Besides that, they aim to impose duties and rights to ensure harmonisation among countries.
To achieve the goal, individual state play role to observe the law that adopt by the international law. In
fact, this goal remarkable as achievement, it still arguably lacks prosecution power in combating
piracy. It gives domestic laws to produce suitable system to bring the executioner to justice. Thus, an
objective legal framework that has strong procedural law is need for those purposes. Now a day, all
countries are concerns about the crime of armed robbery and piracy against ship Strait of Malacca to

Virtue In The Meno
In the Meno, Socrates finds the meaning of the word virtue in terms of human wisdom. This definition
pursues a further question which is what makes the quest for wisdom possible? (Gallagher,
Commentary on the Meno). In the beginning of the dialogue, Meno asks Socrates if virtue can be
taught. Socrates says that doesn t have a complete and comprehensive understanding of virtue. This is
an example of human wisdom, knowing that you don t know something.

Walt Disney s Impact On American Society
Walt Disney once said, You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world.
But it takes people to make the dream a reality. What Disney is trying to say is that you can dream
anything you want to be or do, but it takes someone to make his/her dream a reality (Brainy Quotes).
What Disney is trying to say is that you can dream anything you want to be or do, but it takes hard
work to make it a reality. Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois to his father
Elias Disney and mother, Flora Disney. Disney was one of five children, four boys and, one girl. After

To start with, Disney turned his TV series into a theme park. Disney s TV series was so popular that it
ran for 29 seasons and because it was so popular Disneyland opened. Disneyland was a huge success.
Disneyland the series became a theme park because it was so popular and millions of people loved the
characters. People wanted to go see the characters and interact with them. So Disney created a place
where it was possible for people to do that (Beattie). This suggests that viewers wanted to spend time
with the characters they watched at home. Disney had a great idea to turn his shows into an
amusement park, which attracted a lot of people. At the same time, Disney used his T.V. show to
advertise his amusement park. By 1954, Disney had recognized the growing popularity of television
and produced a series called Disneyland, which he initially used to promote his new Disneyland theme
park in California (Lackmann). This maintains that Disney was a smart and bright person who knew
how to be successful. Additionally, Disney wanted to create a homelike atmosphere at his park.
Disneyland put a new spin on amusement parks when its gates opened in Anaheim, California, on July
17, 1955. Before deciding whether to enter Disney s Adventureland, Frontierland, Tomorrowland, or

Death In The Woods
A Critical Analysis of Death in the Woods Death in the Woods is a story about a woman that lives a
hard life. When she was a girl she worked for a German farmer and his wife. When she was a little
older she married a man named Jake Grimes thinking she would get away from the crude work of the
farmer. She soon finds out that life doesn t get any better for her than it already was.
Later in the story she is found dead by a rabbit hunter in the woods (Cleveland).
Death in the Woods seemingly concerns a farm woman, Mrs.Grimes, who, only in her early forties,
seems old and probably psycotic. She doesn t have a first name in the story, and, indeed, very little is
known about her life at all in the story. It s like no one knows who she ... Show more content on

A person could then appropriate a single one of these truths and try to go by it. That is when he or she
would become a grotesque. The stories in Winesburg, Ohio do grapple with Anderson s intended
theme, and a story such as Hands clearly illustrates what he means by grotesque (Ellis 2).
The hands belong to Wing Biddlebaum, formerly Adolph Myers, a teacher in a Pennsylvania village
who was beaten and run out of town for caressing boys. Anderson Cleveland 4 is oblique about Wing s
homosexuality, for the thrust of the story. In the story Death in the Woods, as a girl, Mrs. Grimes was
sexually abused her German owner (Doneskey 1 3).
The Philosopher provides a more subtle illustration of grotesque and introduces the idea that a
grotesque need not be pitiable or tragic; in fact, he can be wildly humorous as demonstrated at the
beginning of the story with the philosopher s description (Doneskey 1 3).
Anderson was interested in the development of the artist type, the inner desires of repressed people,
the failure of people to communicate their true selves; the way conventions and tradition have twisted
and distorted the individual (Doneskey 1 3).
Anderson wrote several versions of the tale before he felt that he had to come close to telling it
adequately, and one of the most narrative devices

Orientalism in M. Butterfly
She is petite, submissive, and great in bed, the greatest combination for the perfect woman. Yellow
fever is the psychological inclination towards Asian woman that has been expressed by a portion of
the male population. This stereotype is a part of orientalism that continues to be discussed amongst
today s society; it is deemed odd or labeled as a fetish. M. Butterfly a Tony Award playwright written
by David Henry Hwang consists of ideas related to orientalism through the layers developed in gender
identity, global politics and art forms. The play begins in the present 1988 with Rene Gallimard sitting
in a Paris prison. Gallimard declares himself as a celebrity, and relishes that his fame has spread to

Butterfly does not reflect the complications between the U.S. and China, but certainly depicts secret
intelligence being traded among the Chinese from an outlier source, French diplomat Rene Gallimard,
who did not realize this deception from his Perfect Woman , Song Liling. Before the full context of M.
Butterfly can be explored, it is important to establish the oriental stereotype that is expressed in the
play.
Oriental women have long been fetishized into a stereotype; they are depicted as submissive and
passive, and are silenced by the double pressure from race and sex , Oriental woman, as Said (1979)
states in Orientalism, is usually viewed ―with sexist blinders and serves as ―the creatures of a male
power fantasy and Asians as a whole are considered to be inferior and emasculated, easy targets for
exploitations and dominance. Asian woman, always caged and subordinate both in the patriarchic
society and in the Oriental rhetoric tradition, are natural subjects for the White s desire (Weilin).
This stereotype is still regarded in todays society. According to Prof. Dr. Opfermann and Prof. Dr.

David Henry Hwang had two objectives in mind ... (1) Negating

Causes And Consequences Of The Great Recession
CAUSES AND CONSEQUENCES OF THE GREAT RECESSION The most recent four years of the
turbulent financial execution brought up a larger number of issues than gave answers about reasons for
the Great Recession of 2008 2009. Most business analysts are faulting the land business sector
breakdown and the tailed it budgetary emergency as fundamental driver of the Recession. Be that as it
may, the genuine macroeconomic reason was the change of the national macroeconomic approach
from the Demand backing to Supply bolster methodology amidst 1980s. In this article I am going to
discuss the reasons of the Great Recession and its results. The monetary methodology before 1980 s
has been based on the thoughts of the full job and the wages development as the consequence of the
development of profitability. The full vocation and the wages development have empowered the
increment in the interest for merchandise and administrations. That development has affected the
increment in the supply and has invigorated the organizations to put into new innovations encouraging
the further development of efficiency. The stagflation of 1970 s truly harmed this methodology. In
1980 s the Keynesian model of the monetary development, which depends on the backing of the
development of Aggregate Demand, has been supplanted by the neo liberal model of financial
development based upon the backing of the development the Aggregate Supply. Increment sought
after as it takes after from the established

I Believe Vision And College Alumni Into Accelerating...
Introduction
I believe vision promotes and excels college alumni into accelerating career pathways that promote
autonomy, innovation, and leadership expressed independently and as a team. Fostering the next
generation builds the framework for the assumptions relied upon to support the community needs for
career ready hires. In addition, vision aligns personal beliefs and career goals as a career services,
director. I would articulate, steward, and promote this vision to foster alignment with stakeholders
students, parents, and community leaders. In turn, encouraging career goals through exploration
through desires, needs, individual values, behavior and actions. Simply the opportunity to lead in
providing students with tools to make strategic and informed decisions about the career paths.
Articulating a Vision I believe collaborative planning with faculty, career development officers, and
hiring recruiters from a shared governance perspective. In addition, to articulating, developing and
rolling out the vision and prompting feedback to measure those expected outcomes. I would start by
communicating with those who teach, requesting structured curriculum to incorporate career
opportunities relative to their courses. The effective avenues to reach the masses would include
forums, press releases, college open houses, career fairs, website presence, faculty retreats, courses
and college wide updates all areas requiring community/workforce collaboration.

Trust Infidelity
Life would be significantly different if there were not cheating hearts . In fact, society as a whole
would be very changed without those experiences. Think of television programming. What would a
soap opera be all those couples just being faithful? What would be happening on Desperate
Housewives? How many blues songs would have remained unwritten? Country music would certainly
have to march to a beat of a different drummer. The impact is probably more painful and realistic
when you break it down to a person level.
Each cheating situation has its own twist, but the result is still the same. There is a breach of trust.
Even if your partner never finds out you cheated, you have lost trust in yourself. The relationship is
certainly broken.

Can you accept some responsibility for what happened?
Can both of you ever be 100% committed?
It is incredibly hard to make this relationship work. On the other hand, if you can work through this,
the strength in your relationship becomes rock solid.
Perhaps for some this is just a natural course of events. If the relationship were never based on honesty
and trust infidelity wouldn t be much of a surprise. It still hurts, but many times there are signs along
the way. Maybe it is a way out of a bad situation.
Are there some couples that can survive infidelity? Yes. It is generally connected with a deep religious
conviction or awakening. Those types of beliefs rely on love and forgiveness and can be an asset in
repairing the broken relationship. So perhaps the key to dealing with a cheating heart to go find
religion, get a good counselor, and work it out.
To those couples who choose to severe the relationship and do it with kindness and dignity ,
Congratulations, you deserve and earned; respect.

What Does The Globalization Of Drug Trade Benefit...
To what extent does the globalization of drug trade benefit countries in the golden triangle and South
America? The two sources I choose to evaluate was a letter to the president of Peru and a 335 page
book about drug trafficking around the world. Both of these sources provide valuable information to
my research question.
The letter to the president of Peru was from H.E. Jose Antonio Garcia Belaunde who is the minister of
foreign affairs in Peru. This letter was created at the General Debate of 64th Period of Sessions of the
United Nations General Assembly in New York, on the twenty eighth of september 2009. Because the
letter was a primary source it has no known or thought of limitations. The purpose of the letter was to
inform the president about the drug trade problem in Peru and its effects on the country. It was only
made for his eyes to see but was then release to the public with none of it changed on the United
Nations website. There are no limitations for its purpose because the letter was not a cry for help,
made Peru look weak and was made to inform the president. This source is valuable because it is
primary and shows exactly what is going on in South America. The author is also trustworth, qualifies

Argumentative Essay On Black Power
Through the mid 1900 s, the black movement began in hopes of creating a better future around a
certain view that was based around social and political aspects. The Black Power movement came
about due to the fact that over the recent years, non violent actions were not combatting racism and
advocators of this movement wanted to start seeing results. The main purpose of this was because
blacks had simple, humane requests to end racism and give everyone equal opportunity. After
researching there was a passage that fit perfectly into describing the overall view of the movement and
how there was a direct controversy.. The controversy over Black Power reflected and perpetuated a
split in the civil rights movement between organizations that maintained that nonviolent methods were
the only way to achieve civil rights goals and those organizations that had become frustrated and were
ready to adopt violence and black separatism . (). When looking at both Stokely Carmichael and Dr.
King s views there can be contrasts on both including some viewing King s view as outdated with
little change and Carmichael as turning their beliefs into a racially integrated society that some did not
agree with.
The black power movement was also known as black nationalism which in other words meant that
there was advocacy for the racial redefinition for African American citizens. The first person who
claimed the term, black power and used it in a social and racial term was Stokely Carmichael. It was

The Clash of Civilization (Samuel Huntington Article...
The article titled the Clash of Civilization written by Samuel Huntington tries to analyze the world
after the cold war.
Huntington in his thesis clearly states that the new era of world politics will not be based on conflicts
occurring due to ideological or economic clashes amongst states, but rather the dominating source of
conflict will be cultural.
Huntington proposes that instead of classifying countries into first, second or third worlds, one should
classify countries in terms of their civilization. He defines one as the highest cultural grouping of
people and the broadest level of cultural identity people have. Characterization of civilization can be
seen through language and religion, but the issue arises that people ultimately ... Show more content

4. Even though the west have never been more powerful in both cultural and economic influence, non
western civilizations have been promoting indigenization.
5. It is easier to change economic and political differences then to change cultural ones, because
religion makes a sharp distinction between who you are?
6. regional trade has increased among similar cultures and floundered among dissimilar ones. A classic
example of this notion is how Japan has not been able to be very successful in bringing together other
east Asian countries due to its different culture, while the common culture between China and other
East Asian countries has managed to expand regional trade amongst them.
Hence, Huntington proclaims that the clash of civilization will occur at two levels, at the micro level
conflicts will occur along civilizational borders, while at the macro level conflicts will happen where
power and ideology will be in question.
Huntington notes that the dominance of the west through its power and influence will be
predominantly to preserve their status and to be able to confront non western civilizations when their
position is threatened. He then predicts that conflicts between the west and the rest is primarily going
to be on the cultural or power differences. He believes that non western civilizations have three
choices, either to isolate and

The Over-Glorification Of Che Guevara
To a large extent, popular culture glorifies the revolutionary, Che Guevara, by omitting his fatal flaws
and by turning his image into one of positivity and chic revolution. Che has become a pop culture icon
through his image appearing on t shirts, paintings and other popular media. While the trend is a
familiar one in Cuba, where his original supporters come from, it has become a western norm. Many
people will support Che through purchasing products in relation to him without knowing about him, or
what he stands for. Although Che was a heroic figure during the revolution to overthrow the
dictatorship of Batista, pop culture has influenced the masses to believe that he should be celebrated
but it fails to acknowledge his problematic qualities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The struggling masses agree to robbing banks because none of them has a penny in them. He tries to
justify his actions by saying that they are in aid of those living in poverty, giving him a type of power
that people cannot oppose due to being seen as someone who has no morality. Che tried to regulate the
lives of the people living in Cuba, but failed to abide by the same regulations on alcohol, informal
gambling and relations between men and women.
Cuba is still a communist country, but it still battles with people living in poverty (I). An image of a
run down street in Cuba is an example of the Cuba Che has left behind and that his efforts were in
vain because his main reason for having a communist takeover was to eradicate poverty, and yet that
is still the reality in Cuba today. Even though that is the reality, an image of Che appears alongside this
run down road on the wall, as people admire Che, and don t link their current living situation to that of
Che s help in creating the basis of the society they now live

Essay On Maternity Leave
Women in the United States should be guaranteed a paid maternal leave. The United States is the only
industrialized country that does not guarantee paid maternity leave. The Family and Medical Leave
Act was passed in 1993, and it protects a woman s position at her job for 12 weeks: It does not
mandate pay (Holohan). Paid maternity leave is not unheard of in the United States. California, New
Jersey, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island these are the states that offer some form of paid leave to new
mothers. It is not enough to only have four states offer paid leave. Only 12% of Americans are able to
take a paid maternity leave (NPR). Paid maternity leave should be mandated in every state. Many
people do support the idea of paid leave, but some oppose because they do not want to pay for it. The
way maternity leave could be paid for is the same principle as Social Security. A small portion of
people s paychecks would go towards paid leave. Some people do not realize that paid maternity leave
does not mean that women are simply paid the same as if they were still working. The states that allow
paid maternity leave only allow four to six weeks of their time off to be paid. It is different among ...

to work before her body is even able to sit without using a pillow so she can be in less pain. Women
should not have to leave their babies after a few weeks because they cannot afford to take all 12

birth, which is why the United States needs to mandate paid maternity leave in every

Ronald Reagan Ethos
President Reagan in his grief driven, yet inspiring speech Explosion of the Space Shuttle Challenger
Address to the Nation, he expresses the nation s collective anguish in the wake of the accident. Reagan
s purpose is to praise the lost astronauts for their service and assure to NASA and the rest of America
that, even if these deaths happened, they should continue working towards space explorations for
future generations. He adopts a somber yet reflective tone in order to evoke a sense of a silver lining
in the minds of the American families across the nation. To do so, Ronald Reagan utilizes the three
rhetorical appeals: ethos, pathos, and logos.
At the start of his speech, Reagan chooses to apologize for the postponement of the annual State ...

He first commemorates the pioneers of space for their service, noting their courage and painstakingly
stating each of their names slowly and reverently. He is giving life to the astronauts, working to show
the audience that these are not just two words on a procter, but courageous trailblazers on a mission to
pursue their dreams of space exploration for America. Reagan is trying to establish their emotions to
bridge this gap from random stranger to fallen hero and draw much needed respect for them in the
wake of this tragedy, and solace for their loved ones. Reagan even addresses the schoolchildren
watching their teacher die upon launch and states that sometimes painful things like this happen (6).
Reagan knows that the children are going to be the future astronauts and shuttle engineers, so he is
essentially trying to reassure them that, though this is what can happen to pioneers, this is the only
way progress can be made. If he doesn t do this, people start to question the necessity for continuing in
this race for space and ultimately doubt the need to fund NASA. Reagan chooses to address these
concerns

The And Medicinal Purposes Of Ginger
Zingiber officinale, commonly known as Ginger, is a prevalent kitchen spice that has both been used
for dietary and medicinal purposes around the world. A member of the Zingiberacae family, ginger is a
flowering plant that is said to have originated in India, but was harvested to extinction. It is now
cultivated predominately in India, China, and Jamaica. Although this is a flowering herb, the root or
rhizome of the plant is regularly utilized for cooking or for medicinal purposes. The powder of the
rhizome is often made into a tonic that is consumed by the patient. Ginger has been used traditionally
in various cultures as a remedy for a number of different conditions. In Bone and Mills (2013), it is

addition, 6 gingerol is a phenol that is rapidly metabolized in comparison to the rates of other isolated
components of the ginger rhizome. The metabolism rate of the compound has been documented at
about 30 minutes (Benzie Watchel galor, 2011, Ch.7 p.6). The concentration of the phenol is also
found to be higher within the tissue when compared to plasma. The combination of a high metabolism
rate and tissue concentration levels makes 6 gingerol the most bioactive component within the ginger
rhizome. The highest concentration of 6 gingerol can be found in the gastrointestinal tract (Benzie
Watchel galor, 2011, p. 6). This is important when considering treatment of GI conditions using
ginger.
Ulcerative colitis is an idiopathic, chronic inflammatory condition that is characterized by the
inflammation of the colon and rectum. This is a disorder that affects the innermost layer of the colon,
known as the mucosal layer. Similar to other inflammatory bowel diseases, ulcerative colitis results
from abnormal and increased activation of the intestinal immune system. The increased presence of
the inflammatory mediators within the tissue leads to the disruption of the mucosa and ultimately

Database Backup and Disaster Recovery for ABC Company
A backup and recovery plan is necessary for the databases that the ABC Company uses for its business
needs. In the event of a natural disaster, human error, hardware failure, or any other corruption or loss
of data, backup and recovery measures will mean the difference between an inconvenience and a
catastrophic loss of company data. The following report addresses various options for backup and
recovery, and proposes what measures ABC Inc should adopt for its SQL Server 2012 servers.
Database Backup SQL Server 2012 supports three scopes of backup and an additional special purpose
backup type. The first of the three backup types is whole database which as its name implies, backs up
the entire database. A partial database backup backs up read/write filegroups and, possibly, one or
more read only files or filegroups according to Microsoft (n.d.). File or filegroup backups are
conducted on singe file or filegroups. Finally, a copy only backup is an out of schedule backup that is
initiated for a special purpose, and does not affect the normal cycle of backups. When a backup is
conducted, it can be a full backup or a differential backup. A full backup will copy the entire database,
while a differential backup will backup only the changes that have been made since the last backup
was conducted. Whole, partial, and file/filegroup backups all can be full or differential backups. A
copy only backup can only be a full backup because it does not change the transaction log, and

Paradise Bent Video Analysis
For Video Reflection Paper Two, I decieded to watch and write about Paradise Bent . Paradise Bent
follows Heather Croall learning about the Fa afaine s of Somoa everyday life, past, and place in their
culture. Fa afaine are Somoan boys who are brought up as girls, and act as girls in everyday Samoan
life. The first aspect of the video I found interesting was how it seemed that the Fa afaine are a new
trend and sect of Samoan society. What I found interesting was how the arrival of the European
missioniaries correlated with the explosion of transvestism. What also fascinated me was how after the
European s came, the girls of Samoa seemed to be overshadowed and replaced. I found it intersting
how the traditional Samoan female roles of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I thought it was strange how the western, and more imporantly Christian culture, led to Samoan
women being forced to wear breast coverings and mandatory dresses. This was because they
percieved them to be too revealing and sexual. One aspect of the video that I found surprising was
how Samoan religion supported the Fa afaine. Christianity is the official religion of Samoa. A core
value of Christianity is the close sexual bond and relationship between a man and woman. I found it
shcoking how accepting the Samoan minsiters and pastors were of the Fa afaine. I was also suprised
how the Fa afaine were allowed to dress as women while attending church. A second aspect of the
video that I found surprising was how accepting the enitre communtity was of the Fa afaine and the
open roles they played in everyday Samoan society. I found it shocking how at five years old, Blondie
s mom gave him dresses to wear and openly praised his siblings when they referred to him as their
sister . His mom allowed and praised him for wearing lava lava under his armpits and shaving his
entire body to mimic that of a woman. What was also suprising was how after his mom s actions,
Blondie began viewing himself as a female and saw the women of the community as his role models.
Because of this, he and the thousands of other Fa afaine performed the traditional daily

The Only Crime Is Pride Critical Lens
Reflection Essay The quote Think: all men make mistakes, But a good man yields when he Knows his
course is wrong, And repairs the evil: The only Crime is pride, said by Teiresias. (This excerpt is from
Antigone, by the classical Greek playwright Sophocles.) This quote can mean several different things.
It all depends on how you interpret it. I believe that Teiresias is explaining that a good man knows
how to admit when he is wrong and tries to fix the problem that his mistake has caused. The only
crime is pride. Teiresias is demonstrating the negative side of a man and what bad guys do instead.
There is no crime in being wrong, however, when someone s pride is blinding them from admitting
their wrongs , then that is when someone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are going to mess up. We were created to make mistakes so that way we could learn from them. It
is our job to fix our miscalculations. Letting your pride keep you from telling the truth will result in a
worse outcome than the original predicament. Teiresias makes it clear that it is alright to make
mistakes, but trying to cover the mistakes up is not the right thing to do. Think about it, every time
you choose to tell a lie you have to tell 1,000 more just to cover up the first lie. Wouldn t it just me
easier to tell the truth? It takes a good man to confess his wrongs, those who can not always find
themselves in bad predicaments all the time. Telling the truth is always the way to go. I use to have the
hardest time confessing the things that I do incorrectly. It was hard for me to accept that I could mess
up, but when I got older I started playing sports. Playing basketball and soccer you have to confess to
the things you did/do wrong or otherwise you will not be able to improve as a player. Now I am the
first to admit what I have done before my coaches even have the time to acknowledge what I did
wrong. This makes the situation easier and makes my coaches job simpler as

  • 3. Children Need a Healthy Breakfast How Not Having a Healthy Meal in the Morning affects Children America is often referred to as the most developed country worldwide where everything is easily accessible to residents. Recent research has shown that 50 million Americans lack access to safe and nutritious food in the home, 17 million of which are children. A perfect example of this can be seen in the recent film, A Place at the Table where. Rosie, an 8 year old girl living in Colorado expressed the difficulty that she finds in concentrating in school due to stomach discomfort. According to Rosie she spends most of her time in class fighting her cravings while uncontrollably thinking of apples, oranges and bananas. Rosie is just one of the 17 million children who does not have desert at nights. Most times when you picture a starving child, America is the last place to come to mind. Being one of the most economically advanced countries in the world, America is said to be the land of dreams and opportunities and the home of proud citizens. However, in the recent film A Place at the Table , this idea was tarnished. The film sought to expose the presence of hunger in the United States through the documentation of the life of Americans who are unable to afford food. Jeff Bridges took on the role of a devoted advocate in the battle against starvation in America. The US Department of Agriculture s statistical findings revealed that out of the 50 million American residents that do not consume healthy nutritious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Importance Of Goal Setting And Job Enrichment In reading the The Elizabeth Layman article the reader tends to get an indepth outline of how job redsighn can be accomplished. The nature of this reorganization included many elements including goal setting and job enrichment. I hope, in the following pages, to show the reader how both of the areas were approached. This first question I would like to answer is, how are the principles of goal setting applied? As many people are aware, goal setting is one of the best ways to improve employee motivation. This motivation is maximized by setting clear, achievable goals and then making employees accountable to those goals. It is said that goal setting can improve the way an employee performs by as much as twenty five percent. In this article goal, setting plays a very influential role in the redesign of the extended Health Information Management system. The most obvious instances of goal setting were setting the physical goals of implementing the new system and the benchmarks of service it had to achieve. The overall goal was to have effective systems in place that would help manage the new system efficiently, while covering all of the changing requirements in the industry. Some of the goal setting were not quite as obvious. Take for example the area of performance reports. The performance report is only successful if you set a standard fro what the performance is required to be. Once this goal is set regular evaluation is needed to see where people stand in relation to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Culture really affects how people live and how other people view things and how they think about other people. Where Cultures Collide , Everyday Use and What is Cultural identity . All cultures affect how people view the world. It shows you how culture is very important. In Pico Iyer s short story, Where Cultures Collide He shows how others stick to their culture. • 6. Kelo V. City Of New London Case Study One of the primary instances, and landmark cases, that spurred more debates on imminent domain is the Kelo vs City of New London case. In Kelo v. City of New London, the Supreme Court held that economic development constituted a public use that justified the taking of private property through eminent domain. (R N.Y, 2016). Property rights have always been a challenge in every civilization. This case garnered a lot of interest from the media and in turn that of the rest of U.S residents as it shocked the nation. The case is related to a development project that the city wanted to undertake to make the best use of the land in the area. • 7. John Locke s Theory Of Personal Identity In The 2000 Film... The world of film for many is a wondrous place. It can be a place to escape reality, to relax, to learn, or to philosophize all we have to do is look. In this case the 2000 film Memento by ... can also act as a gateway to understanding John Locke s memory theory of personal identity. Locke s theory, in summary, states that one s identity exists as far back as one can consciously remember. Whether it was your fourth birthday party or your high school graduation, as far back as you can remember is where your identity begins. Which is where the dilemma of Leonard Shelby comes into play. Leonard Shelby suffers from a condition of anterograde amnesia, where he cannot create new memories, however, long term memories from before his accident remain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, instead of the photo becoming clearer, the photo fades, just as our own memories fade. Which leads to the question: are Leonard s memories even reliable? At the end of the film Teddy tells Leonard that it was actually his wife that was the diabetic, not Sammy Jankis and that he killed his wife by injecting her with insulin. The film then shows Leonard injecting his wife on the bed, but then switches quickly back to him pinching her. This could actually be a way of telling the audience that Leonard is suppressing his memories so that he can create another mystery/puzzle to figure out. He might not only be suppressing his memories but altering them as well. There is a moment in the film where Sammy is sitting in a chair in what appears to be a mental institution. For a short moment Sammy is replaced by Leonard, who is then replaced by Sammy, further proving that Leonard s memories may not be as reliable as were let on. His story might have instead combined with that of Sammy s morphing his memories into something he believes. Teddy even touches on this when he says that Leonards story of Sammy Jankis, Gets better every time you tell it. Which indicates some alteration of the story. Which brings the question again, who is Leonard? Teddy sums this up very well at the end of the film when he asks Leonard You don t know who you are...That s who you were. That s not...what you ve become. If this speculation happens to be true then Leonard Shelby as he once was before the accident no longer exists. He is now a hybrid between Sammy and his previous self. As Locke mentioned, so that whatever has the consciousness of present and past actions, is the same person to whom they both belong (Locke). However Leonard s past actions cannot be confirmed, not by himself, nor Teddy; the picture is not entirely clear. It doesn t help that Leonard s present actions memory can only last for so long. • 8. How Does Marjane Use Forgiveness In Persepolis Persepolis Essay #1 Marjane Satrapi is a girl who lives in a country ruled by a man not loved by the people. It is a place where many struggles happen and where she is forced to grow up and understand the things happening around her. The author of this book conveys the theme of forgiveness through internal conflict and her use of comics and images in the Persepolis novel. In the beginning of the novel, Marjane has her life turned around when the shah of her country, Iran, started passing many rules and regulations, which the people did not like. As a result, the people started to protest in the streets and many would get hurt or worse trying voice their beliefs. On the other hand, while Marjane s mother struggles to correctly teach her 10 year old daughter how to forgive, she and her husband still participate in the demonstrations taking place around their town instead of setting a better example for their daughter. In a way, while Marjane s mother tries to teach her one thing, her actions and the things she says with her father and the outside world may teach Marjane otherwise. They both talk about the injustice of the regime in their country freely and openly in front of Marjane without even thinking about the way they could be sending mixed messages to their daughter. An example of how this has affected Marjane is the way her mother reacts when they find someone close to them was executed while in prison and how two other family friends, at their reunion described the way they were tortured and how their other cell mate, a member of the guerillas, was also executed ... • 9. Mabo Case Legal studies Law Reform Legal studies Law Reform The Australian Legal System response to the Mabo case has changed greatly ever since the first time it was introduced. Many different acts were introduced and/or amended as a result of this case. The effectiveness of the law and the law reform in protecting the rights of individual and society at large is demonstrated throughout this essay. Eddie Koiki Mabo was born on Murray Island in 1936 and was an Indigenous Australian. In 1974, during a conversation with two academics, Mabo became aware to the fact that his family did not own their traditional lands and that it was, in law, owned by the Crown. The Queensland Government wanted to remove any doubt that the Meriam people had total ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Mabo decision ended the idea of terra nullius in relation to Australia, when it recognised the Meriam people as the owners of the Murray Islands. It also opened the door for other Indigenous groups to be able to claim ownership of land that they could prove a continuous connection with. Unfortunately Eddie Mabo had died of cancer in February 1992, just 4 months before this historic high court ruling that would change Australian land law. The judgement was so historic because it completely overturned the idea of terra nullius and said that native title survived in many places, even though the land had been taken by the Crown. With Terra Nullius distinguished, it proved the point that Murray Islands first inhabitants were in fact the Meriam people. With the Mabo case being successful many other cases came about for example Wik Peoples v. The State of Queensland (also known as the Wik Decision). It is a decision of the High Court of Australia in December 1996, regarding the right of access by the Wik peoples of Cape York Peninsula in North Queensland to Crown land held under pastoral leases for cattle grazing. The court decided (4 judges to 3) that the rights of indigenous people who can prove a connection to the land can coexist with the rights of the pastoralists, but where there is any inconsistency between the two, the rights of the pastoralist will prevail. In other words, pastoral leases do not automatically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Who Is The Best Way For You Grow Our Money More Than Our... When I m around 65 years old, I want to have the ability to quit working. I want, like almost all Americans want, to be able to retire. Well, the trouble with that is that I, and just about everyone else, probably won t have enough money to be able to retire just from the saved income from our jobs and from social security. We ll have to take the money we save from our earnings and try to make it grow. So the problem then lies in finding the best way to invest our savings so that it grows, like in this image, large enough, and crucially, safe enough, to be able to retire upon. I think, that the best way to grow our money large and safe enough is called an index fund. So today, I m going to explain what index funds are, and why they re better than our other investing options. Owning stocks in general is really pretty simple. In fact, it s a lot like owning cows. You can spend all of your money on one cow that looks perfect, but then there s a lot to worry about. For instance, you have to worry about that cow dying to disease or falling in a ravine or getting struck by lightening or getting lost. Or you can share an entire herd of cows with a few other investors. Think about how much safer you are! The likelihood of losing a whole herd to something is pretty small, and something really terrible would have to happen. How does that relate to stocks? Well individual stock picking is like owning one cow, while index funds are like owning the herd. And just like your cow could get ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Hamlet s Weaknesses Hamlet is one of the most complex characters in literature. He changes a lot throughout the story. His mental state is what really leads to his death and the death of the King, Queen, and Laertes. Hamlet has a couple weaknesses throughout the story. His first weakness or flaw would be in the very beginning where he seems crazy in love with Ophelia. Polonius asks Ophelia, talking about Hamlet Is he crazy with love for you? Ophelia replys I m not sure, but I m afraid he might be (Hamlet, 83). Polonius is Ophelia s father and he says he has seen many girls fall for Hamlet s tricks and they all end up with a broken heart. He was warning his daughter to stay away from Hamlet and to send all of letters back and not give him the time of day. This is when Hamlet started acting crazy towards Ophelia and his main weakness in this part was love. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One good example of this weakness would be in act 3 scene 2 when Hamlet has characters perform the play called Mousetrap . The play was altered by Hamlet to reenact how Claudius murdered Hamlet s father. Lucianus pours the poison into the sleeping king s ear (Hamlet, 173) . At this point Claudius realizes that the whole play was intended to reenact what had happened in real life and he begins to get very upset and stops the play. The reason this shows the weakness of Hamlet is because Claudius has Hamlet arranged to be killed as soon as he is sailed off to another area. Claudius could not put the heavy law down on Hamlet because everyone in Denmark loved him so much. Hamlet should have thought this whole thing through a little more and realized that by doing this play, Claudius would get upset and have to do something to stop everyone from finding out the truth. If Hamlet spent more time thinking about the outcome he probably would have chosen a different way of approaching this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Pros And Cons Of Piracy Fourth recommendation is strengthening Government Policy and Domestic Legal Framework against Armed Robbery ship and Piracy. International law government aim has relationship between all countries. Besides that, they aim to impose duties and rights to ensure harmonisation among countries. To achieve the goal, individual state play role to observe the law that adopt by the international law. In fact, this goal remarkable as achievement, it still arguably lacks prosecution power in combating piracy. It gives domestic laws to produce suitable system to bring the executioner to justice. This definition pursues a further question which is what makes the quest for wisdom possible? (Gallagher, Commentary on the Meno). In the beginning of the dialogue, Meno asks Socrates if virtue can be taught. Socrates says that doesn t have a complete and comprehensive understanding of virtue. This is an example of human wisdom, knowing that you don t know something. Hannah Arendt is a very famous philosopher. Disneyland was a huge success. Disneyland the series became a theme park because it was so popular and millions of people loved the characters. People wanted to go see the characters and interact with them. So Disney created a place where it was possible for people to do that (Beattie). This suggests that viewers wanted to spend time with the characters they watched at home. Disney had a great idea to turn his shows into an amusement park, which attracted a lot of people. At the same time, Disney used his T.V. show to advertise his amusement park. By 1954, Disney had recognized the growing popularity of television and produced a series called Disneyland, which he initially used to promote his new Disneyland theme park in California (Lackmann). This maintains that Disney was a smart and bright person who knew how to be successful. Additionally, Disney wanted to create a homelike atmosphere at his park. Disneyland put a new spin on amusement parks when its gates opened in Anaheim, California, on July 17, 1955. When she was a girl she worked for a German farmer and his wife. When she was a little older she married a man named Jake Grimes thinking she would get away from the crude work of the farmer. She soon finds out that life doesn t get any better for her than it already was. Later in the story she is found dead by a rabbit hunter in the woods (Cleveland). Death in the Woods seemingly concerns a farm woman, Mrs.Grimes, who, only in her early forties, seems old and probably psycotic. She doesn t have a first name in the story, and, indeed, very little is known about her life at all in the story. It s like no one knows who she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A person could then appropriate a single one of these truths and try to go by it. That is when he or she would become a grotesque. The stories in Winesburg, Ohio do grapple with Anderson s intended theme, and a story such as Hands clearly illustrates what he means by grotesque (Ellis 2). The hands belong to Wing Biddlebaum, formerly Adolph Myers, a teacher in a Pennsylvania village who was beaten and run out of town for caressing boys. Anderson Cleveland 4 is oblique about Wing s homosexuality, for the thrust of the story. In the story Death in the Woods, as a girl, Mrs. Grimes was sexually abused her German owner (Doneskey 1 3). The Philosopher provides a more subtle illustration of grotesque and introduces the idea that a grotesque need not be pitiable or tragic; in fact, he can be wildly humorous as demonstrated at the beginning of the story with the philosopher s description (Doneskey 1 3). Anderson was interested in the development of the artist type, the inner desires of repressed people, the failure of people to communicate their true selves; the way conventions and tradition have twisted and distorted the individual (Doneskey 1 3). Anderson wrote several versions of the tale before he felt that he had to come close to telling it adequately, and one of the most narrative devices ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yellow fever is the psychological inclination towards Asian woman that has been expressed by a portion of the male population. This stereotype is a part of orientalism that continues to be discussed amongst today s society; it is deemed odd or labeled as a fetish. M. Butterfly does not reflect the complications between the U.S. and China, but certainly depicts secret intelligence being traded among the Chinese from an outlier source, French diplomat Rene Gallimard, who did not realize this deception from his Perfect Woman , Song Liling. Oriental women have long been fetishized into a stereotype; they are depicted as submissive and passive, and are silenced by the double pressure from race and sex , Oriental woman, as Said (1979) states in Orientalism, is usually viewed ―with sexist blinders and serves as ―the creatures of a male power fantasy and Asians as a whole are considered to be inferior and emasculated, easy targets for exploitations and dominance. Causes And Consequences Of The Great Recession CAUSES AND CONSEQUENCES OF THE GREAT RECESSION The most recent four years of the turbulent financial execution brought up a larger number of issues than gave answers about reasons for the Great Recession of 2008 2009. Most business analysts are faulting the land business sector breakdown and the tailed it budgetary emergency as fundamental driver of the Recession. Be that as it may, the genuine macroeconomic reason was the change of the national macroeconomic approach from the Demand backing to Supply bolster methodology amidst 1980s. In this article I am going to discuss the reasons of the Great Recession and its results. The monetary methodology before 1980 s has been based on the thoughts of the full job and the wages development as the consequence of the development of profitability. The full vocation and the wages development have empowered the increment in the interest for merchandise and administrations. That development has affected the increment in the supply and has invigorated the organizations to put into new innovations encouraging the further development of efficiency. The stagflation of 1970 s truly harmed this methodology. In 1980 s the Keynesian model of the monetary development, which depends on the backing of the development of Aggregate Demand, has been supplanted by the neo liberal model of financial development based upon the backing of the development the Aggregate Supply. The two sources I choose to evaluate was a letter to the president of Peru and a 335 page book about drug trafficking around the world. Both of these sources provide valuable information to my research question. The letter to the president of Peru was from H.E. Jose Antonio Garcia Belaunde who is the minister of foreign affairs in Peru. This letter was created at the General Debate of 64th Period of Sessions of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, on the twenty eighth of september 2009. The purpose of the letter was to inform the president about the drug trade problem in Peru and its effects on the country. There are no limitations for its purpose because the letter was not a cry for help, made Peru look weak and was made to inform the president. This source is valuable because it is primary and shows exactly what is going on in South America. The author is also trustworth, qualifies to write about drug trade and not biased. The Black Power movement came about due to the fact that over the recent years, non violent actions were not combatting racism and advocators of this movement wanted to start seeing results. The main purpose of this was because blacks had simple, humane requests to end racism and give everyone equal opportunity. After researching there was a passage that fit perfectly into describing the overall view of the movement and how there was a direct controversy.. The controversy over Black Power reflected and perpetuated a split in the civil rights movement between organizations that maintained that nonviolent methods were the only way to achieve civil rights goals and those organizations that had become frustrated and were ready to adopt violence and black separatism .
