Emergency Period Media
Emergency period media
In June, 1975, Indira Gandhi s government declared a state of emergency and suspended civil liberties.
Immediately after this declaration, the government tightened its controls on the Indian mass media,
especially o n the newspapers which had reputations of being free and lively. During the Summer of
1975, as Indira Gandhi became increasingly more threatened by the mounting criticisms of her
government, she declared a state of emergency. Immediately she took control of the press, prohibiting
their reporting of all domestic and international news. The government expelled several foreign
correspondents
(mainly American and British) and withdrew accreditation from more than 40 Indian reporters who
normally covered the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
H e urged the editors t o express their ideas fearlessly: However, Indira Gandhi s call made editors
suppress their best thoughts, and for the Indian mass media, freedom became a matter of history. Like
other dictators in history, Indira Gandhi s first attempt was t o impose thought control o n the
populous. F o r her, this was t o be effectuated not merely by controlling the Indian mass media but
also by moulding the media t o her own purpose. It has now becomea well known fact that during the
emergency Indira Gandhi had a firm grip
on the Indian mass media. This was especially true since radio and television in India are government
owned and operated; for Indira, there was the simple matter of controlling the newspapers in order to
achieve a total control of the mass media. She used at least three methods in manipulating the
newspapers: (1) allocation of government advertising; (2) shotgun merger of the newsagencies;and
(3) use of fear arousal techniques on newspaper publishers, journalists and individual shareholders.
The Indian newspapers depend a great deal on governmental advertising; without such revenues, it
would be difficult for many
Indian newspapers to stay in business. Unfortunately, this has kept many ofthem vulnerable
togovernment manipulation. The large scale possibility of such manipulation, however, was not fully
demonstra ted until Indira Gandhi s government decided to take advantage of this unique

How Does Swift Use Satire In A Modest Proposal
Analysis of Jonathan Swift s A Modest Proposal
MAKE AN INTRO FOR THIS SENTANCE!!!! In A Modest Proposal , Swift effectively uses satire
writing to reveal his annoyance with the government, papists, and overall citizens of poverty stricken
Ireland in the late seventeenth century. Jonathan Swift constructs a ridiculous essay which he titled A
Modest Proposal . He wrote this proposal to illustrate how backward the economy and standard of
living are in Ireland, but also how his proposal could improve the economy and standard of living for
the Irish people. Swift proposes that the babies of the poor will help the wealthy of Ireland, these
babies will be used to supplement their food source by being eaten. Now they will no longer be a
burden on society but now they will help contribute to the feeding of society. Swift makes this
proposal because of Ireland s current sub standard living standards. Within his proposal Swift is
offering a way to rid the county of its excess children and in turn using them to contribute to society
so they do not grow up either turn thieves for want of work, or leave their dear native ... Show more

The Cuisine Of Hokkaido, Japan
1.0 Introduction
1.1 Introduction
This report introduces the regional cuisine of Hokkaido, Japan. The food of Hokkaido is well known
worldwide because of its high quality and freshness of seafood. Hokkaido also produces dominant
amounts of Japan s meat, wheat and dairy so its cuisine is not just a thing entirely apart from the rest
of Japan s. There are many regional cuisine in Hokkaido including Genghis Khan barbecue, Hokkaido
ramen, Ishikari nabe and so on. Through my research, I find that there are many different cooking
methods that people in Hokkaido use. For example, originally, Genghis Khan barbecue only focuses
on burning and roast lamb and mutton. With more and more southern Japanese into Hokkaido, the
sauce and vegetables are gradually brought into the cuisine to adjust taste. I also find these cooking
methods are interesting, and would like to learn more about the Hokkaido cuisine.

1.2 History
Ancient people in Hokkaido are believed to catch salmon when they swam upstream. They are also
believed to use pots to cook acorn and plants. From 1603 to 1867, Russian and missions from other
countries arrived at Hokkaido but they were not allowed to enter. After 1869, the Meiji government
allowed people from other parts of Japan to immigrate to Hokkaido. These people brought their
different cuisine to Hokkaido. Under these influences, Hokkaido people developed their unique
cuisine by

Similarities And Differences Between Telecommuting And...
Telecommuting, remote work,[1] or telework is a work arrangement in which employees do not
commute to a central place of work. A person who telecommutes is known as a telecommuter ,
teleworker , and sometimes as a home sourced, or work at home employee. Many telecommuters work
from home, while others, sometimes called nomad workers , use mobile telecommunications
technology to work from coffee shops or other locations. According to a Reuters poll, approximately
one in five workers around the globe, particularly employees in the Middle East, Latin America and
Asia, telecommute frequently and nearly 10 percent work from home every day .[2] Today, as annual
leave or vacation is today seen as absence from the workplace rather than ceasing work,
telecommuting is used by office employees to work while on vacation.
The terms telecommuting and telework were coined by Jack Nilles in 1973.[3] ... Show more content

All types of technology assisted work conducted outside of a centrally located work space (including
work undertaken in the home, outside calls, etc.) are regarded as telework. Telecommuters often
maintain a traditional office and usually work from an alternative work site around 1 to 3 days a week.
[4] Telecommuting refers more specifically to work undertaken at a location that reduces commuting
time. These locations can be inside the home or at some other remote workplace, which is facilitated
through a broadband connection, computer or phone lines,[5] or any other electronic media used to

The World s Largest African Elephant
Satao the world s largest African elephant and one of the last surviving great tuskers was found dead
in Tsavo National Park, Kenya in June 2014. Satao was famous for its huge tusks that reached down to
the ground. The carcass of 45 year old elephant with its face mutilated and great tusks hacked off was
left for vultures and scavengers. Poachers had killed Satao with poisoned arrows for the ivory that
weighed over 100 pounds. According to the data provided by Landmark Analysis, poachers seeking
ivory had killed more than 100,000 African elephants in just three years. One of the largest mass
elephant slaughter in decades took place in Cameroon, in 2012 where poachers using Ak47s and
grenades had killed more than 300 elephants. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The elephants once roamed around the continents of Africa and Asia in abundance. Growing numbers
of human population, environment and climate change has played vital role in the loss of their natural
habitat resulting in the decline of elephant population. At the beginning of the 20th century, there were
few million African elephants and over 100,000 Asian elephants. Today, their estimated numbers
range from 450,000 to 700,000 for African elephants and 35,000 to 40,000 for Asian elephants.
Like most animals, elephants also play significant role in the ecosystem. The elephants help maintain
suitable habitats for other species. They pull down trees, clear out heavy bushes, dig waterholes and
create openings in the dense forests. Several tree species rely entirely upon elephant droppings for
seed dispersal and germination. Elephants require larger habitats to maintain food supply that has
brought them in direct competition with human race for living space. The ever increasing human
population has pushed elephants into smaller areas, exposing them to human contact and hindering
their freedom to roam. When humans and elephants live close together, the herds of elephants crossing
can damage crops and villages. Such incidents lead to conflicts with humans in which elephants
constantly lose and are killed.
Hunting has been one of the most significant reasons of the population decline in

Theme Of Manipulation In Othello
Manipulation is the controlling by artful, unfair, or insidious means especially to one s own advantage.
In the play Othello by William Shakespeare, Iago uses manipulation to procure what he wants. The
story of Othello is about a man named Othello, who married a the virtuous Desdemona. Othello and
Desdemona are madly in love and have already overcame many obstacles to be together, much to the
dismay of Roderigo. A man who longed for Desdemona, and consistently chased after her. He was
overlooked for a high position in the army and had heard rumors that Othello has slept with his wife
Emilia. For these crimes, man named Iago is out to destroy Othello s life. Iago deceives many people
and through his subtle actions, kills Othello and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To be sure that Othello would be the one charged with murder when the time came about, he told
othello to strangle her rather than poison her. With her strangled in her own bed, the killer would be
obvious to discern, unlike poisoning her, which would be more difficult to prove. Iago knew othello
would jump at this idea as well. He knew that this act was one of revenge and the best way to get said
revenge was to kill her where she had betrayed him.
Iago manipulates Roderigo. Othello has told Iago to murder Cassio. Iago then turns to Roderigo to do
his dirty work. He says to Roderigo, If you will watch his going thence, which I will fashion to fall out
between twelve and one, you may take him at your pleasure: I will be near to second your attempt, and
he shall fall between us. Come, stand not amazed at it, but go along with me; I will show you such a
necessity in his death that you shall think yourself bound to put it on him (4. 2. 235 242). Iago was
more than well informed by roderigo himself about how much he was willing to sacrifice for
Desdemona. He even has mentioned killing himself over her. Iago uses this to his advantage when he
implies that to be with Desdemona, Roderigo has to kill Cassio. Additionally, if Cassio is killed it will
only prove himself more veritable in othello s eyes, which is exactly what he needs at all times to
ensure that his plot will go through.
At the very end of it all, Iago was a master

The Change in Food Production in Pollan’s The Ominvore’s...
Food production has changed drastically throughout the span of this country s history, shifting from
small scale farms into mega facilities that horde animals inhumanely. In Pollan s The Ominvore s
Dilemma, he showcases the transformative nature of food production throughout the years, by
emphasizing the commercialization and industrialization aspects of this continual food evolution.
Though Pollan expresses his opinions on modern day methods of food production and categorization
of these means of production, he experiences the dilemma that is commonly faced by many
individuals in this day and age. Therefore, he undergoes the endeavor to find the solution to this
national dilemma.
He poses the question: what should we have for dinner? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many consumers are not able to see where their food comes from, similarly to how the corn no longer
has the information of how it was produced. The change in food production also is evident in the
decline in personal nature via packaging. Two centuries ago, people were able to purchase their corn
from the farm where the corn had been grown and most likely where they had developed a more
personal linkage with the farmer on a local level. Now, the connection between the source of
consumer s food production and the consumer itself are separated by thousands of miles, lacking
communication, acknowledgement, and awareness of the production process. Pollan implements
something as simple as a produce sack to showcase the reality that modern day consumers are denied
their right to know where and how their food was developed, violating one foundation of food justice:
the right to know what one is eating.
A possible explanation for why food production has changed so much can be that its consumers have
also evolved as a society the commercialization of agriculture has culminated this alteration within the
industry. The consumer s desire to connect back with their ancestors can be easily ascertained by
going to healthier markets like Wholefoods, among others. Pollan compares Wholefoods to a good
quality bookstore, filled with extensive nutritional vocabulary on their packaging. However, much of
it is not

Todd s Original Culture And The Mainstream Culture
1. Todd is facing challenges between both worlds, for his original culture and the mainstream culture
are exceedingly different from one another. Todd s original culture, Zuñi, is a culture in which one is
considered a private people. They tend to display fewer emotions/feelings in public; however, that
doesn t mean they don t love each other. Zuñi people show their love through actions such as helping
one another, by caring for the people we love when they need us. Therefore, Todd expresses his love
to his family by possibly helping the family cook or getting a job to support his family. Todd is used to
keeping his feelings to himself and not showing his true self in public. Zuñi believes in self control;

It is a necessity to be able to understand the cultural background of someone else because society as a
whole takes things from each other. For instance, through the influence of the development jobs and
trading of resources, many similar beliefs are borrowed and practiced within different groups of
people. This is very useful in a workplace, for one will know how to handle and approach another
person with a different culture without coming off as disrespectful or ignorant in a negative aspect.
This can be applied with a Christian approaching a Muslim or vice versa. Knowing this skill can allow
them to have a successful conversation.
3. Having a global awareness can help one as a public speaker, for it allows the speaker to be familiar
with what s going on in the world. With this awareness, the speaker is able to connect his speeches to
real life crisis/issues that are currently happening today. His audience may feel truly affected in certain
issues in the world today such as Black Lives Matter. Black Lives Matter has black family members
that may have lost their lives due to unlawful killing from the police. Thus, this caused the family to
become very emotional when hearing about these tragic events. Provided that the public speaker
speaks about motivation from this unfortunate event, then the speaker will be able to get the audience
s attention. With this attention, the audience will

Critical Analysis Of Abigail Adams And The Declaration Of...
The author of the document we are analyzing is Abigail Adams. Abigail Adams is a strong minded
women in her early thirties. (First Lady Biography) She is the wife of John Adams, a prominent figure
in the Continental Congress. From this document we can infer that Abigail is concerned about the
women and their rights. They have time and warning given them to see the Evil and shun it. I long to
hear that you have declared an independency and by the way in the new Code of Laws which I
suppose it will be necessary for you to make I desire you would Remember the Ladies, and be more
generous and favourable to them than your ancestors. (Adams, Letter) In this quote Abigail is
explaining to John that when they write the Declaration of Independence they should keep the women
in mind and be more supportive of them.
There are multiple intended audiences for this document. The primary intended audience is her
husband John Adams. The letter is specifically addressed to her husband John and mailed to him
privately. On the other hand it could also be considered a public letter. This document could be
considered a public letter because she is intending for John to tell the others how she feels. She wants
John to persuade the members of the Continental Congress to carefully consider women as they are
making their decisions on the new laws. Abigail wants John to convince the members of the
Continental Congress that women deserve to be heard and have equal rights.

expected that one of us needs help on a busy night we jump in wherever help is needed. That could be
attributed to being a value we all share; that we will help where it is needed. Another value we share is
having fun in the workplace. We all try to get along the best we can whether it s by sharing stories or
making jokes. We try to make it an enjoyable place to be. A third value that can be identified within
this small pizza culture is that we try to look and act our best, especially towards customers (even
those that can t be helped to be nice). We understand that appearance and appropriate body language
and etiquette is important and we try to carry that out as best we can, even while being covered in
flour ninety percent of our shifts. The norms identified from the values discussed above are as follows;
to achieve maximum success in the workplace we re expected to help other stations when busy.

Jonas Salk Effective Polio Vaccine
In 1955 medical researcher Jonas Salk introduced an effective polio vaccine. At the time polio was
considered the biggest threat to public health, yet Salk refused to profit by patenting the vaccine
because he was more concerned with preventing disease than with personal gain. This is an act of
abnegation because Mr.Salk did not sell this for profit, he made this for the well being of other people.
In a world where selfish people are easier to find than selfless people, it makes it wonderful to have
selfless people around. Being selfless not only benefits you, but as well as the others around you. As
an example, take a moment to ponder the decision of Jonas Salk. He created an effective vaccine for
polio, and was pinned between two choices.

Voodoo In African-American Culture
In American popular culture, the word voodoo has become synonymous with macabre imagery and
the practice of dark magic. This notion is evident in the portrayal of voodoo in movies, music,
literature, and on the Internet. Voodoo is often inaccurately used as a single term to refer to a number
of different African Diasporic religions, including West African Vodun, Hatian Vodou, and American
Voodoo. Also included is hoodoo, an African American folk magic that has gradually supplanted
American Voodoo since the early 19th century. Hoodoo itself is not a religion, although it does borrow
elements from both African and European religions and shares a historical connection with Vodun,
Vodou, and Voodoo.

Both hoodoo and Voodoo are found throughout contemporary American society. Most notable is the
imagery of Voodoo, which is appealing for a variety of reasons, specifically the dark themes. As stated
by author Yvonne P. Chireau, Voodoo, as it is used in the American context, connotes an illicit form of
spirituality, and many images have been used to bolster the notorious associations between it, racial
blackness, and evil magic (8). In addition to this, hoodoo and Voodoo are often used synonymously,
creating further confusion for the general public with little knowledge of the true nature of hoodoo and
the religious tradition of Voodoo. Despite these inconsistencies with reality, the focus on the darker
elements and the problematic identification seems to create even more commercial appeal for Voodoo

The Alaska Earthquake Research Paper
An earthquake with a magnitude of 9.2 occurred in the northwestern state of Alaska in 1964. It was so
powerful that it made fishing boats in Louisiana, which is a southeastern state in the U.S., sink.
Magnitude is the amount of energy that s given off during an earthquake. What exactly is an
earthquake?
Our planet has four main layers, which are: the inner core, outer core, mantle, and crust. The inner
core is the center, or middle, of Earth. The crust is the top layer, and it s the layer we walk on. Both the
mantle s top area and the entire crust have many pieces in them, kind of like the pieces of a jigsaw
puzzle.
The pieces that make up the crust and mantle are called tectonic plates. They re always slowly
moving, and they can slide past each other or even bump into one another. The edges of these pieces,
or plates, are called plate boundaries. They have lots of faults, which are the surfaces where they slip
past each other, and these faults are where most earthquakes happen. ... Show more content on

When the plate moves far enough, a fault unsticks, or breaks apart the edges, which causes an
earthquake. Basically, earthquakes are what happens when two plates suddenly bump into one another
or slide past each other, usually along a fault.
The reason the earth shakes during an earthquake is because of stored energy. When the edges are
stuck together but the plates continue to move, the energy that would usually make the pieces slide
past each other becomes stored or saved. When the rough edges unstick, this stored energy is released
in every direction in seismic

Confederation which was the first federal government that was approved by Congress in 1777 in

The issues that the raised from the Articles of Confederation was the distribution of power, instead of
giving too much power to central government like Britain, the founders decided to place the sovereign
power on the hands of the states. Also, they did not have national court system to impose laws that
were approved by government, and did not have a President.

My Reflection Of Writing A Class In The Classroom
When I started this classes, I was full of expectations, I did not have any idea what topic we could
discuss or how I can write my first homework. I could mention some improvement in my skills after
started this class; it helped to develop my creative thinking skills, I learned many things such as
writing objectively, making Quotation marks and coordinating my ideas better in this language. This
class has helped me to express my ideas more clearly in an essay, it has allowed me to create essay
organized and understandable to the reader. I did all my assignment on time although many times I
had to review them. In many times homework became hard for me and I had to ask my classmate to

too much. I know that my grade is an accurately reflect of my performance. At the end of this course, I
expect to receive a final grade like B+, B , or C+ because I came all my classes, did my homework
and took my exam. I think I have learned a lot but I know that I should focus more on grammar.
I initiate this course without a clear idea of how I could really wrote a three page essay in English. I
can honestly say that this is the first time that a class has really scared me, always I have passed all my

Obtain a Cleaned Base History:
Base Demand + Activities + Circumstances = Final Demand Plan
When changing the demand planning process to adopt the concept, markets need to adapt historical
data. This task will be done once during the implementation of the concept.
Maintain a Cleaned Base History:
Once the concept is in place, maintain the Cleaned Base History by cleaning history of the new
historical data. This task is to be done every month/week in the monthly and weekly Demand Planning
cycles.
Validation of Cleaning with Statistical Forecasting:
Statistical Forecasting tools are strongly recommended to support Obtain a Cleaned Base History
process. Indeed,
Demand planners and Sales Marketing need to validate the consistency of the Cleaned Base History
with statistical simulation tool.
Judgmental approach:
This involves the knowledge and experience of the Demand Planners and people from Sales
Marketing. Their judgment based on the business experience is the most important input in the
cleaning process.
Mathematical approach:
Mathematical and graphical techniques support the judgmental approach. They highlight data that,
potentially, need to be cleaned and thus ease the manual work.
Distinction is needed for three types of products:
The strategy to clean depends on the category:
· Category 1 : Mix products
Detailed cleaning is necessary
· Category 2 : Baseline products
Only exceptional circumstances will be removed

Examples Of Multivariate Analysis
As we have discussed in earlier chapter, there are a variety of multivariate techniques available to the
researcher or analyst. Also, there are multitude of issues involved in each of their application.
Therefore, it becomes evident that successful completion of a multivariate analysis involves not only
the selection of correct method but also several other issues. There are other issues to be addressed
such as problem definition, empirical issues and critical diagnosis of results.
A six step approach to multivariate analysis is presented in subsequent paragraphs. This process helps
the researcher, analyst or user in applying the appropriate multivariate method or technique to analyse
the data. The different stages in the structured approach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The researcher or analyst needs to define the research problem and analyse the objectives in
conceptual terms, before specifying the variables or measures. The role of conceptual model
development or theory cannot be overstated. Whether in academic or applied research, the researcher
must view the problem in conceptual terms by defining the concepts. Then he has to identify the
essential relationships that are to be investigated.
A conceptual model need not be detailed and complex. It can be just a simple representation of
relationships to be studied. For example, if a dependence relationship is proposed as research
objective, then the researcher has to specify the dependent and independent concepts. For an
application of an interdependence technique, the dimensions of structure or similarity should be
specified. Sometimes a concept or an idea, rather than specific variables, is defined in both
dependence and interdependence situations.
Once the objective and conceptual model are specified, then the researcher has to select the suitable
multivariate technique based on the measurement characteristics of dependent and independent
variables. Variables for each concept are generally specified prior to the study. But, it may be
necessary to respecify or even state in a different form, for example, transformations or creating

The Basic Concepts Of The Game
Part 1
Section 1: The basic concepts of the game
Baseball is a team sport played over a special field with play divided into periods called innings. Each
of these innings is further separated into two halves; the top and the bottom of the innings. Points in
baseball are scored by the team on offense hitting the thrown ball and running around the four bases
back to the starting position to score. But, if the runner is tagged with the baseball by one the players
on defense before completing the run, that runner is out. After three outs, the inning moves from the
top to the bottom or from the bottom of one inning to the top of the next and the teams switch sides.
During a half inning the entire defensive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Section 2: The layout of the field
The baseball field, (also sometimes referred to as the diamond), is a specially designed field made of
two basic parts; the infield and the outfield. The infield is where most of the action happens. It is
defined by four bases at each corner of the diamond shaped infield set into the ground and evenly
spaced apart. In Professional and high school leagues the bases are 90 feet apart from each other. The
infield is mainly made of dirt except for a lake of grass in the middle with an island of dirt in the
middle called the pitcher s mound. The pitcher s mound is 60.5 feet from home plate in professional
and high school level play. The batter stands at a special plate called home plate where the pitch will
be thrown to from the pitcher s mound. The hitter will attempt to hit the ball with his bat and put the
ball into play. There are chalk painted rectangles on either side of home plate that defines where the
batter stands. In which box the batter stands in depends on if he/she is left handed or right handed.
There is another painted box behind home plate that defines where the catcher crouches to catch the
ball if the batter misses.
Looking at the diagram, hopefully you notice that there are two long white lines labelled as foul lines.
The foul lines define the sides of the infield and the outfield. If any ball is hit and it goes to the right of
the first base side foul line or if it goes

Analysis Of Theseus And The Minotaur
A hero is universally seen as a selfless individual who puts the needs of other before themselves.
Heroes usually hold the same values; honor, nobility, integrity, and strength. Now what happens when
a person does not hold those heroic values? What if their motivations did not have good intentions?
These are the questions that will be answered using the deconstruction critical lenses. The Greek myth
of Theseus and the Minotaur has evolved into the modern trilogy of Batman which, when
deconstructed, reveals how the selfish motivations of these supposed heroes can be perceived as
heroic under the right circumstances.
In the Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur the young Athenian prince Theseus sets out on a hero
s journey to conquer the minotaur and gain fame. On Theseus s journey he encounters multiple
obstacles, which he overcomes with the help of different companions he meets along the way. The
young Theseus beings his journey emanating the values of a hero which during the Greek era were:
honor, nobility, integrity, and strength but as time passes he slowly begins to lose those values until
finally these qualities are replaced with arrogance. Before Theseus made his trek to slay the minotaur
he was already known as a hero, as he had made the trip to Athens from his mother s home in southern
Greece on foot. The journey on foot itself is not too harsh, what is harsh are the obstacles one faces
along the way. One such obstacle were bandits, the young Theseus had no qualms

Analysis Of Susan Bordo s Globalization Of Eating...
Demi Lovato once said, I m not going to sacrifice my mental health to have the perfect body.
However, today we find that many individuals are doing the completely opposite. In Susan Bordo s,
Globalization of Eating Disorders essay, they fall into the media trap, the self image trap, where they
are concerned of what people may think about them. Americans nowadays have pageants, modeling,
and media to thank for this absurd notion. Fit women, along with strong men give this motivation to
others to want to be like them. Most people should be comfortable with their own bodies. Americans
are mesmerized with media and enthralled by one s body image, and ,as a result, face ramifications
like eating disorders and anorexia.
Why are Americans so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequences arise with obsession of body image. Once one begins their expedition of trying to be
skinnier, more fit, beautiful, and it builds up until it becomes a severe phobia. One begins to slack on
eating, differing their diets and what not. In The Globalization of Eating Disorders , Bordo implies
that one generation becomes the menswear manufacturers, the diet industries, and the plastic surgeons
discovered the male body. (). Males tend to be fond of the strength aspect, strong and tough minded.
Drugs such steroids and others help themselves, because they achieve their goals, or so they think.
Instead they deplete themselves, they lose the real journey of trying to become strong and robust.
Drugs have side effects, so of course it tends to play with your mental and physical states. According
to drugabuse.gov, the use of anabolic steroids increases irritability and aggression in a person.(NIH).
Women, however tend to be focused on the beauty aspect. Women want others, to believe and see in
them the true beauty of a woman. Females always tend to think their beauty is on the outside,
proclaiming their self image as their true beauty. However, they do not look inside themselves to find
it. Inside one person lies the true beauty, not on the outside. It seems to be that way, people judge
based off women s looks and their makeup. Women still, however, want to be beautiful. It messes with
their mental state, they become completely

International Journal Of Communication ( 19328036 ) Essay
Becker, H. S. (2010). How to Find Out How to Do Qualitative Research. International Journal Of
Communication (19328036), 4545 553.
Background: In 2009 the National Science Foundation held a conference and issued a document about
qualitative methods what they are lacking. This article pointed out the shortcomings of that report. The
NSF went so far has to tell researches using qualitative methods to learn real science defined as
theoretically derived, testable hypotheses, with methods of data gathering in order to get NSF grants.
This would throw out case studies and surveys, which allow unique research insights and are often the
start of bigger ideas. Becker (2010) counters that good qualitative data is based around interpreting
data as you get it. When conducting research the researchers may not know very much about their
object of study and as they learn, it raises more questions, allowing researcher to gather more data and
better interpretations.
Commentary: This article focused on qualitative research, for both experimental and non experimental
data. Such as surveys, questionnaires, and case studies. This would be useful when designing a
qualitative study to know researchers may have to go back and re think their design even in the data
collection part of the study.

Medtronic Case Study
Harvard Business School 9 698 004 July 8, 1997 We ve Got Rhythm! Medtronic Corporation s
Cardiac Pacemaker Business The legacy of Medtronic Corporation, the company that created the
cardiac pacemaker industry, is a proud one. Starting from its earliest pacemakers, which had to be
carried outside the body, Medtronic had achieved dramatic improvements in the functionality, size and
reliability of these devices. In so doing it had extended the lives, and improved the quality of life, for
hundreds of thousands of people in whom pacemakers had been implanted. The pacemaker has been
designated as one of the ten most outstanding engineering achievements in the world over the past 50
years, along with the digital computer and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Several key employees left the company, seeing greater opportunity to develop their new pacemaker
product ideas in new start ups rather than within Medtronic. These competitors proved much faster
than Medtronic at developing new products that advanced the state of the art in pacemaking.
Medtronic was also pummeled by two major product recalls related to product quality problems.
Observers felt the company would have lost even more of the market during this period, were it not
for its strong worldwide salesforce and the lingering legacy of its brand reputation amongst surgeons,
the primary customer group. 1 This citation was made by the National Society of Professional
Engineers in 1984. Professor Clayton M. Christensen prepared this case as the basis for class
discussion rather than to illustrate either effective or ineffective handling of an administrative
situation. Some of the data and names in this case have been disguised to protect the proprietary

Visual Leaners Essay
Sometimes you need to see it to believe it. The most well represented style in school is the Visual
learning style. This is a person who learns best by reading and seeing. A visual learner will retain the
most information by looking at words on a chalkboard and copying their notes down. They will also
learn by reading over their notes or a textbook, and highlighting important facts as they go along.
These students will be comfortable with writing outlines, designing posters and making diagrams to
represent what they have learned. Also working with puzzles and colors will come easily to them.
Teachers hoping to help visual learners might give hand outs of the information needed or use an

These students will most likely move their lips silently when reading. Classes that are taught in a
lecture type style will be most beneficial for these learners. To retain information these students will
repeat their notes over and over out loud. Auditory learners will most likely have a talent in music by
being able to better hear different pitches of sound and tunes (Duker, 1971). Memorizing songs will
come easily to them and they may find themselves memorizing their lessons in the form of some
melody in their head. These students will be most likely be at ease when they have to put their ideas in
form of a speech and will be better at explaining their ideas out loud than writing them down on paper.
In the classroom teachers should emphasize that their students who are auditory learners should bring
a tape recorder to class so that they can listen to the lecture at home. Teachers should also make sure
they explain concepts that and not just write them down (Slaughter, 2002). Especially material learned
from reading should be discussed as a class. Along with class discussions, class debates will be best
suited for a verbal learner. Records that put the lesson in a form of a song or rhymes to remember
information will also help these students. When giving instructions for an assignment or a project
repeating the steps a couple times will help these students to follow along. Letting the child choose to

The Powers Of The U.s. Congress
Examining the Powers of the U.S. Congress Congress has constitutional rights established that reserve
a solidified position to influence the budget and its process. With most of its power being apparent
with discretionary funds in which appropriations bills occur, it also has a hand in mandatory funding
by way of legislation. A bicameral process with rules attached, takes place to carry out the proposed
budget prepared by the Executive branch. Although the President and his administration begin the
budgetary process, Congress still has a large amount of power that sometimes isn t even used.
Nevertheless, Congress is an enduring participant in the budget appropriation process.
Power of the Purse
In the budget appropriation process, Congress is granted influential powers from the constitution. In
Article 1, Section 8, Clause 1, the power to control or limit federal spending is placed in the hands of
Congress. This power is known as the Power of the Purse , which may be regarded as one of the most
effective weapons by which representatives can be armed with (Whener, 2006). Its importance
branches from the requirements Congress is granted for legislative approval of financial measures.
Among the checks and balances of the government, this ability to maneuver and influence the budget
is a democratic cornerstone. The Power of the Purse is Congress s main weapon against Executive
oppression by allowing congressional approval of appropriations (Whener, 2016). However, even

Kant s View Of Enlightenment
Kant s general proposed understanding of Enlightenment first originates with the enlightenment of the
individual. Within the first few lines of Kant s essay, what is Enlightenment? , he states the definition
of enlightenment as man s emergence from his self incurred immaturity (Kant 1). Kant first highlights
the problem of immaturity, which he says to be the inability to use one s own understanding, but lack
of resolution and courage to use it without the guidance of another (Kant, 1). Kant most likely sees
this problem of intellectual immaturity as a result of the interference of the church and/or the state in
allowing the free discussion of ideas and challenging of status quo ideas. As a progressive philosopher
in 18th century Prussia, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, a monarch that understands that the more ideas that are expressed in a thoughtful manner, the
more society can become enlightened. As Kant succinctly describes the motto of such a monarch,
Argue as much as you like and about whatever you like, but obey! (Kant, 6). Once the intellectual
freedom is allowed to expand, people are more able to cultivate a mindset of critical thinking and are
therefore freed from the yoke of intellectual immaturity. Since individual enlightenment in some ways
actually depends on public enlightenment, this provides another condition for a fully enlightened
society to exist. While enlightenment should start from one s own process towards enlightenment
regardless of external conditions in the world, the monarch s own enlightenment and the policies he
creates for free thinking would aid in the flourishment of an enlightened society that stems from
people s comfortability to discuss their enlightened ideas in

Friar Lawrence Is Wrong Essay
Friar Lawrence is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because Friar could have told
everyone that they were married and he gives Juliet the potion. This conflict could have easily been
resolved if Friar Lawrence would have been truthful. The first reason I gave you is that Friar
Lawrence could have told everybody. He agreed to marry Paris and Juliet after Friar had married
Romeo and Juliet. This leads to Romeo thinking Juliet is dead and killing himself. The two families
might have understood there children s to marry each other if it was coming from a Friar. Lawrence
could have also told Paris to not marry Juliet when Paris was talking to him. I married them; and there
stol n marriage day Act V Scene III Line 233. At the end of the story Friar finally admits that he
married the two, and he was wrong for doing so. The second reason is that Friar shouldn t have given
Juliet the potion. Giving Juliet the potion have to many things that could have gone wrong. Friar then
tries to send a letter to Romeo, it never gets to him because of a plague. Balthasar then gives Romeo
the wrong information about Juliet. This ends up having Romeo think Juliet is dead then killing

Disadvantages Of 3d Printers
Amazing machines
3 D print technology has significantly altered over the years. With the help of Computer Aided
Designs, millions of items can be created via printing them 3 Dimensionally. Whatever you can
imagine, you can make! These magnificent machines have become more affordable and extremely
useful, making them a revolutionary tool in the arts of Medicine, Science, and Engineering. From
prosthetics to everyday items (plates, mugs, etc.) these machines can make them all easily and
affordable; but nevertheless, can a machine like this have no drawbacks or complications?
With such high demands, the 3D printer market is expected still to grow as high as 17.2 billion dollars
by 2020 . Though costs have dropped and are expected to keep decreasing. The first ... Show more

With this taking place, their factories become more eco friendly by not wasting their materials and
ceasing the waste products of them, while saving time and money. But not only that, some even create
full scale cars using 3d printers.
AS well as sustaining the ability to produce prosthetic limbs, 3d printing is also extremely useful for
creating artificial organs for needy patients in hospitals. But not only organs, but skin, bone, cartilage,
blood vessels, surgical tools as well as even hearts and stem cells can just as well be made by these
magnificent machines.
As 3d printing is additive manufacturing , consequently, it s products are printed from the ground up.
So therefore there s no waste of materials as opposed to other forms of production. Another buff of
having a 3d printer at hand would be using it to design and construct spare parts for everyday items.
Say, your favorite coffee mug s handle breaks; with the right measurements, you can have a
replacement part designed and printed accordingly, in no time instead of buying yourself a whole new

A Research on Robotic Surgery
Robotic Surgery Technology is transforming the medical field with the design of robotic devices and
multifaceted imaging. Even though these developments have made operations much less invasive,
robotic systems have their own disadvantages that prevent them from replacing surgeons all together.
Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) is a broad notion encompassing a lot of common procedures that
existed prior to the introduction of robots. It refers to general procedures that keep away from long
cuts by entering the body through small, usually about 1cm, entry incisions, through which surgeons
use long handled instruments to operate on tissue inside the body. Such operations are directed by
viewing equipment and, therefore, do not automatically need the use of a robot. Yet, it is not incorrect
to say that computer assisted and robotic surgeries are categories that fall under minimally invasive
surgery (Robotic Surgery, n.d.). A laparoscopic approach appears to be associated with a reduction in
surgical trauma and blood loss. In addition, it is presumable that some of the benefits of minimally
invasive surgery such as reduced analgesic requirements, a shorter recovery period and reduced
hospital stay (Kuhry, 2005). It has become a forerunner in the quest of improving surgical results by
dropping postoperative pain and lessening recovery time. Yet, the use of laparoscopic instruments can
be awkward and cumbersome, thus escalating operative time and dropping dexterity, which can

Midwestern English Is Also Diverse Enough To Have...
Midwestern English is also diverse enough to have sub varieties of English within the region. There
are two notable sub varieties: Yooper English and Iron Range English. Yooper English is spoken in the
Upper Peninsula of Michigan and is heavily affected by the Canadian Raising. While the origin of the
term Yooper is ambiguous, speakers of this sub dialect sound more like Northern Canadian speakers
than English speakers from the Dakotas. Iron Range English is along the Minnesotan coast of Lake
Superior, and developed when the region was mined for iron and taconite. This dialect is heavily
influenced by the Scandinavian pitch accent and the Canadian Raising as well. There are also
Midwestern English dialect islands areas settled by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Fargo is not a well known movie among younger generations, and this stereotyping seems
to be dying out.
The second is the overriding concept that Midwestern English is inherently accent less, when
compared to other variations of English within the United States. While Midwestern English is distinct
enough to be included in many hand drawn dialect maps of the US, the Midwestern accent is often
labeled as unknown accent (Hartley 2005) (Preston et al 2002). This is because many people outside
of the Midwest believe that the region has no distinguishable accent or linguistic feature to stereotype
(Preston et al 2002). As much of the Midwest was (and continues to be) agriculturally based, there are
very few distinct working class accents, as are common in New York City (Hartley 2005).
In US mainstream culture, there is a tradition of associating the Midwest with General American
English (Preston et al 2002) (Joos 1942) (Lippi Green 2012). Consequently, there are many who refer
to Midwestern English as the most accurate variation of English pronunciation in the United States
(Preston et al 2002). This is, understandably, a very dangerous assumption to make. First, individual
regions in the US are unified by a relatively common accent: Texas has the Texan accent, Southern
states have the Southern accent, the Southwestern states have the Western accent and so on (Lippi
Green 2012). By identifying the Midwest as

The onus on notification of infectious disease is still seen today in the Control of Disease Act 1984
and the Regulation of the Infectious Diseases 1988. This may have positive benefits to public health,
limiting illnesses such as food poisoning and rapid identification of outbreaks of bacterial meningitis,
measles and other illnesses through prompt notification and medical or environmental intervention.
The role of social conscience however and its manifestation in social control may have been
responsible for dividing communities through encouraging individuals to report their apparently ill
neighbours.
Locating public health
The tradition of public health and inherent understanding of the term, dates back as early as pre
Christian times, classified in five periods or bodies of thought: The Graeco Roman period with
emphasis on water and sanitation, the Medieval emphasis on epidemics, the Enlightenment emphasis
on disease prevalence, the Industrialisation emphasis on working conditions and Modern era emphasis
on bacteriology and virology (Rosen 1993 cited in Costello and Haggart

  • 2. Emergency Period Media Emergency period media In June, 1975, Indira Gandhi s government declared a state of emergency and suspended civil liberties. Immediately after this declaration, the government tightened its controls on the Indian mass media, especially o n the newspapers which had reputations of being free and lively. During the Summer of 1975, as Indira Gandhi became increasingly more threatened by the mounting criticisms of her government, she declared a state of emergency. Immediately she took control of the press, prohibiting their reporting of all domestic and international news. The government expelled several foreign correspondents (mainly American and British) and withdrew accreditation from more than 40 Indian reporters who normally covered the ... H e urged the editors t o express their ideas fearlessly: However, Indira Gandhi s call made editors suppress their best thoughts, and for the Indian mass media, freedom became a matter of history. Like other dictators in history, Indira Gandhi s first attempt was t o impose thought control o n the populous. F o r her, this was t o be effectuated not merely by controlling the Indian mass media but also by moulding the media t o her own purpose. It has now becomea well known fact that during the emergency Indira Gandhi had a firm grip on the Indian mass media. This was especially true since radio and television in India are government owned and operated; for Indira, there was the simple matter of controlling the newspapers in order to achieve a total control of the mass media. She used at least three methods in manipulating the newspapers: (1) allocation of government advertising; (2) shotgun merger of the newsagencies;and (3) use of fear arousal techniques on newspaper publishers, journalists and individual shareholders. The Indian newspapers depend a great deal on governmental advertising; without such revenues, it would be difficult for many Indian newspapers to stay in business. Unfortunately, this has kept many ofthem vulnerable togovernment manipulation. The large scale possibility of such manipulation, however, was not fully demonstra ted until Indira Gandhi s government decided to take advantage of this unique ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. How Does Swift Use Satire In A Modest Proposal Analysis of Jonathan Swift s A Modest Proposal MAKE AN INTRO FOR THIS SENTANCE!!!! In A Modest Proposal , Swift effectively uses satire writing to reveal his annoyance with the government, papists, and overall citizens of poverty stricken Ireland in the late seventeenth century. Jonathan Swift constructs a ridiculous essay which he titled A Modest Proposal . He wrote this proposal to illustrate how backward the economy and standard of living are in Ireland, but also how his proposal could improve the economy and standard of living for the Irish people. Swift proposes that the babies of the poor will help the wealthy of Ireland, these babies will be used to supplement their food source by being eaten. Now they will no longer be a burden on society but now they will help contribute to the feeding of society. Swift makes this proposal because of Ireland s current sub standard living standards. Within his proposal Swift is offering a way to rid the county of its excess children and in turn using them to contribute to society so they do not grow up either turn thieves for want of work, or leave their dear native ... • 4. The Cuisine Of Hokkaido, Japan 1.0 Introduction 1.1 Introduction This report introduces the regional cuisine of Hokkaido, Japan. The food of Hokkaido is well known worldwide because of its high quality and freshness of seafood. Hokkaido also produces dominant amounts of Japan s meat, wheat and dairy so its cuisine is not just a thing entirely apart from the rest of Japan s. There are many regional cuisine in Hokkaido including Genghis Khan barbecue, Hokkaido ramen, Ishikari nabe and so on. Through my research, I find that there are many different cooking methods that people in Hokkaido use. For example, originally, Genghis Khan barbecue only focuses on burning and roast lamb and mutton. With more and more southern Japanese into Hokkaido, the sauce and vegetables are gradually brought into the cuisine to adjust taste. I also find these cooking methods are interesting, and would like to learn more about the Hokkaido cuisine. Figure 1 Hokkaido Genghis Khan Source: http://en.visit hokkaido.jp/food/bbq.html 1.2 History Ancient people in Hokkaido are believed to catch salmon when they swam upstream. They are also believed to use pots to cook acorn and plants. From 1603 to 1867, Russian and missions from other countries arrived at Hokkaido but they were not allowed to enter. After 1869, the Meiji government allowed people from other parts of Japan to immigrate to Hokkaido. These people brought their different cuisine to Hokkaido. Under these influences, Hokkaido people developed their unique cuisine by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Similarities And Differences Between Telecommuting And... Telecommuting, remote work,[1] or telework is a work arrangement in which employees do not commute to a central place of work. A person who telecommutes is known as a telecommuter , teleworker , and sometimes as a home sourced, or work at home employee. Many telecommuters work from home, while others, sometimes called nomad workers , use mobile telecommunications technology to work from coffee shops or other locations. According to a Reuters poll, approximately one in five workers around the globe, particularly employees in the Middle East, Latin America and Asia, telecommute frequently and nearly 10 percent work from home every day .[2] Today, as annual leave or vacation is today seen as absence from the workplace rather than ceasing work, telecommuting is used by office employees to work while on vacation. The terms telecommuting and telework were coined by Jack Nilles in 1973.[3] ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All types of technology assisted work conducted outside of a centrally located work space (including work undertaken in the home, outside calls, etc.) are regarded as telework. Telecommuters often maintain a traditional office and usually work from an alternative work site around 1 to 3 days a week. Satao was famous for its huge tusks that reached down to the ground. The carcass of 45 year old elephant with its face mutilated and great tusks hacked off was left for vultures and scavengers. Poachers had killed Satao with poisoned arrows for the ivory that weighed over 100 pounds. According to the data provided by Landmark Analysis, poachers seeking ivory had killed more than 100,000 African elephants in just three years. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The elephants once roamed around the continents of Africa and Asia in abundance. Growing numbers of human population, environment and climate change has played vital role in the loss of their natural habitat resulting in the decline of elephant population. At the beginning of the 20th century, there were few million African elephants and over 100,000 Asian elephants. Today, their estimated numbers range from 450,000 to 700,000 for African elephants and 35,000 to 40,000 for Asian elephants. Like most animals, elephants also play significant role in the ecosystem. The elephants help maintain suitable habitats for other species. They pull down trees, clear out heavy bushes, dig waterholes and create openings in the dense forests. Several tree species rely entirely upon elephant droppings for seed dispersal and germination. Elephants require larger habitats to maintain food supply that has brought them in direct competition with human race for living space. The ever increasing human population has pushed elephants into smaller areas, exposing them to human contact and hindering their freedom to roam. When humans and elephants live close together, the herds of elephants crossing can damage crops and villages. Such incidents lead to conflicts with humans in which elephants constantly lose and are killed. Hunting has been one of the most significant reasons of the population decline in ... • 7. Theme Of Manipulation In Othello Manipulation is the controlling by artful, unfair, or insidious means especially to one s own advantage. In the play Othello by William Shakespeare, Iago uses manipulation to procure what he wants. The story of Othello is about a man named Othello, who married a the virtuous Desdemona. Othello and Desdemona are madly in love and have already overcame many obstacles to be together, much to the dismay of Roderigo. A man who longed for Desdemona, and consistently chased after her. He was overlooked for a high position in the army and had heard rumors that Othello has slept with his wife Emilia. For these crimes, man named Iago is out to destroy Othello s life. To be sure that Othello would be the one charged with murder when the time came about, he told othello to strangle her rather than poison her. With her strangled in her own bed, the killer would be obvious to discern, unlike poisoning her, which would be more difficult to prove. Iago knew othello would jump at this idea as well. He knew that this act was one of revenge and the best way to get said revenge was to kill her where she had betrayed him. Iago manipulates Roderigo. Othello has told Iago to murder Cassio. Iago then turns to Roderigo to do his dirty work. He says to Roderigo, If you will watch his going thence, which I will fashion to fall out between twelve and one, you may take him at your pleasure: I will be near to second your attempt, and he shall fall between us. Come, stand not amazed at it, but go along with me; I will show you such a necessity in his death that you shall think yourself bound to put it on him (4. 2. 235 242). Iago was more than well informed by roderigo himself about how much he was willing to sacrifice for Desdemona. He even has mentioned killing himself over her. Iago uses this to his advantage when he implies that to be with Desdemona, Roderigo has to kill Cassio. Additionally, if Cassio is killed it will only prove himself more veritable in othello s eyes, which is exactly what he needs at all times to ensure that his plot will go through. Food production has changed drastically throughout the span of this country s history, shifting from small scale farms into mega facilities that horde animals inhumanely. In Pollan s The Ominvore s Dilemma, he showcases the transformative nature of food production throughout the years, by emphasizing the commercialization and industrialization aspects of this continual food evolution. Though Pollan expresses his opinions on modern day methods of food production and categorization of these means of production, he experiences the dilemma that is commonly faced by many individuals in this day and age. Therefore, he undergoes the endeavor to find the solution to this national dilemma. He poses the question: what should we have for dinner? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many consumers are not able to see where their food comes from, similarly to how the corn no longer has the information of how it was produced. The change in food production also is evident in the decline in personal nature via packaging. Two centuries ago, people were able to purchase their corn from the farm where the corn had been grown and most likely where they had developed a more personal linkage with the farmer on a local level. Now, the connection between the source of consumer s food production and the consumer itself are separated by thousands of miles, lacking communication, acknowledgement, and awareness of the production process. Pollan implements something as simple as a produce sack to showcase the reality that modern day consumers are denied their right to know where and how their food was developed, violating one foundation of food justice: the right to know what one is eating. A possible explanation for why food production has changed so much can be that its consumers have also evolved as a society the commercialization of agriculture has culminated this alteration within the industry. The consumer s desire to connect back with their ancestors can be easily ascertained by going to healthier markets like Wholefoods, among others. Pollan compares Wholefoods to a good quality bookstore, filled with extensive nutritional vocabulary on their packaging. However, much of it is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This can be applied with a Christian approaching a Muslim or vice versa. Knowing this skill can allow them to have a successful conversation. 3. With this awareness, the speaker is able to connect his speeches to real life crisis/issues that are currently happening today. His audience may feel truly affected in certain issues in the world today such as Black Lives Matter. Black Lives Matter has black family members that may have lost their lives due to unlawful killing from the police. That could be attributed to being a value we all share; that we will help where it is needed. Another value we share is having fun in the workplace. We all try to get along the best we can whether it s by sharing stories or making jokes. We try to make it an enjoyable place to be. A third value that can be identified within this small pizza culture is that we try to look and act our best, especially towards customers (even those that can t be helped to be nice). • 12. Jonas Salk Effective Polio Vaccine In 1955 medical researcher Jonas Salk introduced an effective polio vaccine. At the time polio was considered the biggest threat to public health, yet Salk refused to profit by patenting the vaccine because he was more concerned with preventing disease than with personal gain. This is an act of abnegation because Mr.Salk did not sell this for profit, he made this for the well being of other people. In a world where selfish people are easier to find than selfless people, it makes it wonderful to have selfless people around. • 13. Voodoo In African-American Culture In American popular culture, the word voodoo has become synonymous with macabre imagery and the practice of dark magic. This notion is evident in the portrayal of voodoo in movies, music, literature, and on the Internet. Voodoo is often inaccurately used as a single term to refer to a number of different African Diasporic religions, including West African Vodun, Hatian Vodou, and American Voodoo. Also included is hoodoo, an African American folk magic that has gradually supplanted American Voodoo since the early 19th century. Hoodoo itself is not a religion, although it does borrow elements from both African and European religions and shares a historical connection with Vodun, Vodou, and Voodoo. In addition to this, hoodoo and Voodoo are often used synonymously, creating further confusion for the general public with little knowledge of the true nature of hoodoo and the religious tradition of Voodoo. It was so powerful that it made fishing boats in Louisiana, which is a southeastern state in the U.S., sink. Magnitude is the amount of energy that s given off during an earthquake. What exactly is an earthquake? Our planet has four main layers, which are: the inner core, outer core, mantle, and crust. The inner core is the center, or middle, of Earth. The crust is the top layer, and it s the layer we walk on. Both the mantle s top area and the entire crust have many pieces in them, kind of like the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. The pieces that make up the crust and mantle are called tectonic plates. They re always slowly moving, and they can slide past each other or even bump into one another. The edges of these pieces, or plates, are called plate boundaries. They have lots of faults, which are the surfaces where they slip past each other, and these faults are where most earthquakes happen. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the plate moves far enough, a fault unsticks, or breaks apart the edges, which causes an earthquake. Basically, earthquakes are what happens when two plates suddenly bump into one another or slide past each other, usually along a fault. The reason the earth shakes during an earthquake is because of stored energy. When the edges are stuck together but the plates continue to move, the energy that would usually make the pieces slide past each other becomes stored or saved. There are other issues to be addressed such as problem definition, empirical issues and critical diagnosis of results. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The researcher or analyst needs to define the research problem and analyse the objectives in conceptual terms, before specifying the variables or measures. The role of conceptual model development or theory cannot be overstated. Whether in academic or applied research, the researcher must view the problem in conceptual terms by defining the concepts. Then he has to identify the essential relationships that are to be investigated. A conceptual model need not be detailed and complex. It can be just a simple representation of relationships to be studied. For example, if a dependence relationship is proposed as research objective, then the researcher has to specify the dependent and independent concepts. For an application of an interdependence technique, the dimensions of structure or similarity should be specified. Sometimes a concept or an idea, rather than specific variables, is defined in both dependence and interdependence situations. Once the objective and conceptual model are specified, then the researcher has to select the suitable multivariate technique based on the measurement characteristics of dependent and independent variables. Variables for each concept are generally specified prior to the study. But, it may be necessary to respecify or even state in a different form, for example, transformations or creating dummy variables, after the data has been collected. Stage 2: Develop the analysis ... In Professional and high school leagues the bases are 90 feet apart from each other. The infield is mainly made of dirt except for a lake of grass in the middle with an island of dirt in the middle called the pitcher s mound. Heroes usually hold the same values; honor, nobility, integrity, and strength. Now what happens when a person does not hold those heroic values? What if their motivations did not have good intentions? These are the questions that will be answered using the deconstruction critical lenses. The Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur has evolved into the modern trilogy of Batman which, when deconstructed, reveals how the selfish motivations of these supposed heroes can be perceived as heroic under the right circumstances. In the Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur the young Athenian prince Theseus sets out on a hero s journey to conquer the minotaur and gain fame. On Theseus s journey he encounters multiple obstacles, which he overcomes with the help of different companions he meets along the way. The young Theseus beings his journey emanating the values of a hero which during the Greek era were: honor, nobility, integrity, and strength but as time passes he slowly begins to lose those values until finally these qualities are replaced with arrogance. Before Theseus made his trek to slay the minotaur he was already known as a hero, as he had made the trip to Athens from his mother s home in southern Greece on foot. Background: In 2009 the National Science Foundation held a conference and issued a document about qualitative methods what they are lacking. This article pointed out the shortcomings of that report. The NSF went so far has to tell researches using qualitative methods to learn real science defined as theoretically derived, testable hypotheses, with methods of data gathering in order to get NSF grants. This would throw out case studies and surveys, which allow unique research insights and are often the start of bigger ideas. Becker (2010) counters that good qualitative data is based around interpreting data as you get it. When conducting research the researchers may not know very much about their object of study and as they learn, it raises more questions, allowing researcher to gather more data and better interpretations. Commentary: This article focused on qualitative research, for both experimental and non experimental data. Such as surveys, questionnaires, and case studies. This would be useful when designing a qualitative study to know researchers may have to go back and re think their design even in the data collection part of the study. Davis, J., Sandifer Stech, D. Even though these developments have made operations much less invasive, robotic systems have their own disadvantages that prevent them from replacing surgeons all together. Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) is a broad notion encompassing a lot of common procedures that existed prior to the introduction of robots. It refers to general procedures that keep away from long cuts by entering the body through small, usually about 1cm, entry incisions, through which surgeons use long handled instruments to operate on tissue inside the body. Such operations are directed by viewing equipment and, therefore, do not automatically need the use of a robot. Yet, it is not incorrect to say that computer assisted and robotic surgeries are categories that fall under minimally invasive surgery (Robotic Surgery, n.d.). In addition, it is presumable that some of the benefits of minimally invasive surgery such as reduced analgesic requirements, a shorter recovery period and reduced hospital stay (Kuhry, 2005). This may have positive benefits to public health, limiting illnesses such as food poisoning and rapid identification of outbreaks of bacterial meningitis, measles and other illnesses through prompt notification and medical or environmental intervention. The role of social conscience however and its manifestation in social control may have been responsible for dividing communities through encouraging individuals to report their apparently ill neighbours.
