Was Kurt Cobain bipolar? Thousands of people still research information about his death and what
could have caused it. Kurt Cobain became a rock legend when his band Nirvana formed in 1990s. He

In his teen years, he experimented with marijuana and heroin and started pushing himself away from
his father. Then soon left his father s place and stayed with different relatives. Cobain also spent time
living with friends when he could and sleeping in apartment building hallways and a hospital waiting

became addicted to it. Cobain eventually went to drug rehab but his sobriety didn t last long. He
survived a relapses on a heroin overdose a few months later. But he did not seek more treatment for
his drug addiction nor his bipolar disorder. Avoiding treatment is the worst thing you can do with
bipolar disorder because it tends to get worse if it s not treated. To improve your prognosis Kurt

depressed to the point where he did not want to live anymore. With that being said the author believes
that is probably why he did not seek any treatment for his disorder. The way Cobain handled his
disorder was using into his music to express himself. As well to reach out to the kids in that time

Happiness And Happiness Analysis
Weiner is continuing his research in Switzerland with the help of journalist friend; Susan. She invites
him to meet with a couple of Swiss people to interview their views on happiness. A wealthy banker, a
doctor, and a former Hollywood agent who s lived in Switzerland for the past ten years. Weiner asks
them on a scale of 1 10; how happy are you these days? , and the responses are as expected, multiple
eights and nines and even at seven. The Swiss interviewees were shocked as Weiner to see that they
were quite happy with their lives. During the interview with them, he further asks, what is it that
makes them happy? , the doctor replies, Envy. , explaining that the Swiss will do anything to avoid
envy with each other. Living by rules and judgment for example; no flushing the toilet after ten or no
laughing after midnight, etc. In addition to his research, he remembers that a certain naturalist,
claimed that humans have the innate love for nature through evolutionary past. Weiner then takes a
trip to Bern; a place so quaint, you might end up leaving from insanity, of it is so quiet and small. He
then travels to Zurich for a short while, to see how well people on that side of town spend their
happiness. To his shock, it is actually slow paced; every person is in no hurry to leave the beauty of
the surroundings. Switzerland is a place of rules and morals, but full of judgment and monitored
actions. Rules do not create more happiness, because it restricts your activities.

Triple Bottom Line
GETTING TO THE BOTTOM OF TRIPLE BOTTOM LINE
Wayne Norman and Chris MacDonald
Abstract: In this paper, we examine critically the notion of Triple Bottom Line accounting. We begin
by asking just what it is that supporters of the Triple Bottom Line idea advocate, and attempt to distil
specific, assessable claims from the vague, diverse, and sometimes contradictory uses of the Triple
Bottom Line rhetoric. We then use these claims as a basis upon which to argue (a) that what is sound
about the idea of a Triple Bottom Line is not novel, and (b) that what is novel about the idea is not
sound. We argue on both conceptual and practical grounds that the Triple Bottom Line is an unhelpful
addition to current discussions of corporate social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Organisations such as the Global Reporting Initiative and AccountAbility have embraced and
promoted the 3BL concept for use in the corporate world. And corporations are listening. Companies
as significant as AT T, Dow Chemical, Shell, and British Telecom, have used 3BL terminology in their
press releases, annual reports and other documents. So have scores of smaller firms. Not surprisingly,
most of the big accounting firms are now using the concept approvingly and offering services to help
firms that want to measure, report or audit their two additional bottom lines. Similarly, there is now a
sizable portion of the investment industry devoted to screening companies on the basis of their social
and environmental performance, and many of these explicitly use the language of 3BL.^
Governments, government departments and political parties (especially Green parties) are also well
represented in the growing documentation of those advocating or accepting 3BL principles. For many
NGOs and activist organisations 3BL seems to be pretty much an article of faith. Given the rapid
uptake by corporations, governments, and activist groups, the paucity of academic analysis is both
surprising and worrisome. Our recent search of the principal academic databases turned up only about
a dozen articles, mostly concentrated in journals catering to the intersection of management and
environmentalism. One book beyond Elkington s has been

The Aborigines Used Red Ochre For The Rock Carvingsxvi
The Aborigines used a variety of art to share stories including rock carvings, body painting and ground
designs which date back to more than 30,000 years ago. The Aborigines used red ochre for the rock
carvingsxvi. A special place where you can see Aboriginal rock carvings is Dampier Archipelago in
Western Australia where the rock carvings are thought to number in the millions. There are three main
types of Aboriginal art. The first being engraved geometric figures. The second being silhouettes of
humans and animals. The last being detailed figured. These go in order and show the progression of
Aboriginal intelligence because of the increasing detail and meaning in the artxvii. The Aborigines

The Aborigines used stone tools for hunting and gathering. Because they did not domesticate animals
or begin to farm, they had no need for anything more than stone tools. They also did not need to focus
so much on technological advancements because their lives were centered around the land and the
religious significance it containedxx. However, the Aborigines still made many scientific
advancements. They created many stone tools to hunt and fish such as knives, scrapers, axe heads,
spears, various vessels for eating and drinking, and digging sticks. They were also the first group to
introduce ground edges on cutting tools and to grind seeds into an edible or medicinal pastexxi. The
Aborigines also created the boomerang, which is now known as a common toy which returns when
one throws it but at this time it was used as a hunting weaponxxii. Although they did not develop a
system of writing until the time of the Europeans, they did create very detailed myths, or stories about
the landscape with a deeper meaning, which were passed on through generations. However, they
mainly used art to express religious significancexxiii. As well as oral myths, they also created oral
maps which were used to navigate and trade along with using the stars. The Aborigines also developed

Jack Warner Scandal Essay
The second individual that was a major player of this scandal was Jack Warner, the former VP of
CONCACAF. Warner was charged for the same crimes as Blazer that included wire fraud,
racketeering, and money laundering. However, his scheming was on a much larger scale. Not only was
he involved with Blazer during their time at CONCACAF, Warner was also involved in his own
bribery dealings, black market transactions, fraud mismanagement, and misuse of funds. Warner s
charges extend all the back into the 1980 s, however his more impactful charges came during the 2000
s. He was involved on two different occasions of selling World Cup tickets valued at a premium
within the Black Market, in which he made $350,000 during the 2002 and over a $1 million in 2006.
During the 2006, Ernst and Young, the audit firm for FIFA, found out about Warner s actions and he
was fined a maximum amount of $1, however only a fourth of that fine was ever paid. Jack Warner
was also implicated on having collusion within several World Cups including two awarded to South

Argentina s Financial System
a. Historical Overview
The economic history of Argentina is one of the most studied, owing to the Argentine paradox , its
unique condition as a country that had achieved advanced development in the early 20th century but
experienced a reversal, which inspired an enormous wealth of literature and diverse analysis on the
causes of this decline. Argentina possesses definite comparative advantages in agriculture, as the
country is endowed with a vast amount of highly fertile land. Between 1860 and 1930, exploitation of
the rich land of the pampas strongly pushed economic growth. During the first three decades of the
20th century. Argentina outgrew Canada and Australia in population, total income, and per capita
income. By 1913, Argentina was the world s 10th wealthiest nation per capita. Beginning in the 1930s,
however, the Argentine economy deteriorated notably. The single most important factor in this decline
has been political instability since 1930, when a military junta took power, ending seven decades of

Harvey Milk And Its Impact On The Gay Community
A man by the name of Harvey Milk has left a mark on those in support of and the community of
lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) worldwide. Harvey Milk served as the first openly gay
individual to be elected into public office. Harvey Milk left a positive impact on the gay community
and the Castro district of San Francisco through his contributions in politics and stance as an openly

in United States history.
Harvey Milk was born in Woodmere, New York to a Jewish family. He played football and enjoyed
opera in high school, however he hid his love for opera from his friends (Shilts 1982: 8). Although he
acknowledged himself as a homosexual in high school, he kept it a secret from everyone else. He
attended the New York State College for Teachers in Albany where he majored in Mathematics and
minored in History. Upon graduation, Milk entered the United States Navy serving during the Korean
War. He served the nation for four years and was then discharged from the Navy as a junior grade
lieutenant for suspicion of homosexuality.
Homosexuality was looked down upon in this time period. A person could be arrested, even on
suspicion of homosexual status. A homosexual risked a police raid by going to a gay bar during the
1950s. The fear and anxiety of being raided by the police, pushed many into nearby parks and many

Core competencies create differentiation and sustainable competitive advantage in the target market,

including: employee involvement, brand recognition and family environment.
One of the things that sets Harley Davidson s culture apart from other businesses is employee
involvement. The participation of the employees in the business has been an essential component to
there success. In order to maximize employee involvement, the hierarchy and layers of management
have been minimized and an open door policy extends throughout the Company. Employees aren t
allowed to check their brains at the door or avoid responsibility or accountability. All employees are
expected to take the initiative to identify problems and solve them. In the late 80s, the Harley

Gas Turbine Essay
Gas turbines compete with Steam (Nuclear and Fossil Fuel) power plants to generate power around
the globe. Historically gas turbines have suffered from low levels of efficiency and poor reliability,
resulting in a reliance on the above mentioned alternatives to supply the consumer demand for
electricity. Initial assumptions and original efficiency values will be based on the ideal Brayton Cycle,
by replacing an open cycle Fig.1 with a closed cycle Fig. 2 (Huang Gramoll, n.d.)
This report will identify and discuss the improvements made to the modern day Gas turbine (when
compared against the simple Brayton Cycle Fig. 3), which show the significant progress made in
terms of efficiency.
In order to make gas turbines cost effective there is a need to improve overall cycle efficiency. Gas
turbines fundamentally operate by utilisation of a compressor and turbine to drive a common shaft.
The rotating shaft can then be connected to a generator to provide electricity, a propeller for ships or
the turbine can be utilised to provide propulsion of aircraft. However this report will focus on the gas
turbine within the power generation industry and will look at modifications and improvements in
design which can increase overall efficiency and cost effectiveness. In short the improvements made
to the gas turbine are as follows: Changes to the cycle temperatures Increasing the efficiency of turbo
machinery components Modifications to the basic cycle Cycle Temperature

Gun Control versus The Right to Bear Arms Essay

place to live. After all, ?Would a person be as likely to break into another family s home knowing that
the family has means of personal protection?? (Warren 308). ?Most everyone will agree that felons,

Bill of Rights comes into play with the second amendment. In 1689 the English Bill of Rights was

Rights allowed people to be armed ?suitable to their conditions? and ?allowed by law.? This right was
then transferred to the American colonies, and after the American Revolution, our Bill of Rights of
1791, further strengthened the second amendment claim of the people?s right to bear arms, with the
words ?the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.? The Bill of Rights limits
the power of the federal government. How does it do this? How about an example? Can the federal

Do you feel your government is fair? Does it manage the issues properly, with careful thought, and an
open, objective mind? Is it effective? Do you feel that the Senate is a sober chamber of second
thought? Do you feel that the best interests of the Canadian public are always preserved in the current

In terms of the reform option, as a country, we absolutely cannot afford to abolish the Senate, as it
serves as, and is meant to be, a body of un biased economic and social élite , who are capable of
making/approving decisions to benefit the citizens of Canada, rather than the House of Commons,
which makes decisions by majority, and in their own interest. The Senate is meant to play a neutral
role, to be the final judge to make the un biased, informed decisions. Sometimes, the Senate has taken
on other roles, which it performs and works with very effectively. In fairness to them, these often do
not receive much media coverage, increasing the public perception that Senators do very little. For
example, the Senate Standing Committee on Social Affairs, Science, and Tech released a report on the
Health Care system, a month before the Romanow Report on Human Health Resources Planning.
They have also researched issues such as poverty in Canada, and legalizing Marijuana.
No matter which angle one looks at this from, the effective existence of the Senate is necessary to
stabilize the government, as it is near to impossible to have an ideal House of Commons, as confirmed
by an English political journalist Walter Bagehot.
He wrote about the British parliamentary System (which our system is based off), and was quoted
saying, If we had an ideal House of Commons...

Progressives lived mainly in the cities, they were college educated, and believed that government
could be a tool for change (Benz,2003). The progressive era was a hard time with big changes that
made people s lives harder and made some live better. Money became hard and work became better
for women. Women had the best outcome of the era. They got work and the right to vote. Alcohol had
a hard time working out in this time. People tried to make, sell, and transport it without being fought
but this became hard so the laws were changed. The sixteenth amendment states that the congress
shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without
apportionment among the several states, and without regard to any census or enumeration. This means
that it allows federal government to levy an income tax from all Americans. Income tax allows for the
federal government to keep an army, build roads and bridges, enforce laws and carry out other
important duties (Fiskin, Forbath, Jensen, 2017). This amendment played a central role in building up
the powerful American federal government of the twentieth century by making it possible to enact a
modern, nationwide income tax. The income tax became by far the federal government s largest
source of revenue. The sixteenth

Asian Indians come from an area with the second largest population in the world, but form only one of
the smallest minorities in the United States. America was influenced by their religious and political
beliefs long before the first immigrants arrived in the 19th century. The congressional act of 1947

To make matters worse, famine devastated India from 1899 to 1902. Thus, large scale immigration
began in 1906, when six hundred Asians applied to enter the United States. They came here in hopes
of changing their lives around. Unfortunately, they soon found out that life in America was very
challenging. Many Indians were farmers back in India, but when they came to the United States they
had to take jobs no one else would. They also encountered prejudice. Whites sometimes associated the
Asian Indian immigrants with blacks, Chinese, or Japanese. Very often, Asian Indians were blamed for
the violence directed towards them. Whites did not want or try to understand Indian culture and
traditions. The Indian poet, Rabindranath Tagore (a winner of the Noble Prize in literature) traveled to
North America. When he applied for entry to the United States, Tagore encountered difficulties and
when he finally made it to the country, he experienced racial prejudice in Los Angeles. He cancelled
his tour and returned to India, saying in disgust, Jesus could not get into America because, first of all,
he would not have the necessary money, and secondly, He would be an Asiatic. Despite of everything
they encountered, the immigrants still believed that the life they left behind was much worse than thy
life they faced in America.
Another major problem Asian Indians faced came from the white population. Many people

The Ancient Roman world, the various Germanic and Norse barbarians, and Christianity all played a
big role in the creation of the society, politics and ideas in the Middle Ages. You may have not known
but the beginning of the Middle Ages (5th to 15th century) is marked when the Western Roman
Empire is invaded (1000 B.C) by the Germanic barbarians who were from Northern Europe ( Middle
Ages ). The Germanic people specifically the Goths, Vandals, Saxons and Franks adapted most of the
Romans ideas and ways of living and combined it with their own creating a new medieval culture in
Western Rome. The Huns started to invade the territory north of the Black Sea which was where the
Germanic People had settled. ( Middle Ages ). This led to the invasion of Western Rome which then
led to the fall of the Western Empire who had lost almost all their power to be able to defend
themselves. During the Middle Ages Catholic churches specifically the Popes were the ones who ruled
much of the society as there was not one government that untied all the people in Western Rome
during the Middle Ages ( Christianity In The Middle Ages. ). The society was greatly influenced by
the Catholic Church at the beginning of the Middle ages due to its power over the people and the
government which allowed them to create rules that were from God . After the collapse of the Roman

produce a sufficient amount of apples, the orchard will begin to become a steady revenue stream for
Zenda.
Triggers Further lack of income could be triggered by delays in planting, errors in maintenance of the
trees, failure to grow certain trees (ex. Kingston Black variety). Anything that delays the orchard from
becoming fully operational in the shortest time possible can reduce income.
6. Cost Analysis
This budget involves several factors. First of all, the estimated costs of establishing the U Pick apple
orchard and the cider orchard. To find the total cost, fixed costs and variable costs from year to year
for establishing and maintaining each of these orchards must be recorded. The second factor is how
much funding and aid Zenda will likely receive for this project, from various grants, donors, and
potential partners. Once each of these factors are determined, a budget can then be established
outlining how much money will be allotted to each portion of the

The Purpose Of The Individual Mandate
The term individual mandate, as a component of the Affordable Care Act, is a mandatory requirement
according to which the majority of people in the United States has to have some kind of health
insurance. Most specifically, according to the fundamentals of this regulation, any individual who can
afford a health insurance policy, but chooses not to do so, will have to pay a fine. Prior to the existence
of the individual mandate, health insurance companies had the choice to reject people with health
conditions that would potentially incur high costs. Because of this reason, a significant number of
people did not have any health coverage. In order to maintain insurance premiums reasonably steady
and sustain government cost balanced, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The individual mandate, at this point, presents itself as the most cost effective and affordable way
through which reasonably priced coverages are available to the mass population. The bests advantage
of the individual mandate, according to Nick Tate, is that it prevents insurance companies from
rejecting people because they have a pre existing health condition. Under this provision, all Americans
benefit a coverage plan regardless of their health Status. When healthcare companies are legally
obligated to accept policy holders with any situation, every single American has the obligation to
enroll in a healthcare plan. Therefore, the dilemma of people trying avoid having such a plan
disappear as it become illegal to be living without any coverage.
Government Subsidies for the Lower Income Individuals
To make it easier for every American to enroll in a plan, the Federal government provides lower
income taxpayers who do not receive insurance from employers or other sources and do not qualify
for an exemption with a premium tax credit to subsidize the purchase of qualified health plans
purchased through an Exchange. Radically the individual mandate reflects the image of a program

Integrity In The Medical Field
Integrity is a code of values which individuals follow. It means to follow moral and ethical convictions
such as being honest or doing the right thing. Integrity can be applied to many scenarios including the
workplace, the university or our home. For students such as myself, which are perusing a career in the
medical field, integrity has to be a core value for delivering decent healthcare. In the medical field
patients, every day entirely rely on the integrity of their doctors. By trusting the doctor or any other
medical professional they encounter, they expect their medical records and secrets to be treated with

Essay on Easier, Faster Way to Entertainment
As time has progressed in society and people s values have changed, the entertainment industry has
seemed to focus less on talent and ethics, and more on social and appearance appeal. Media and
technology have become more important in everyday life, so a person may rely heavily on those
factors for pretty much anything, especially entertainment. In today s society, people have to complete
tasks in very little time, this concept has transferred over to how people spend their leisure time;
things have to be made available quickly so that little to no work has to be applied to in order to relax.
For example, the number of people who read books has been decreasing in recent years. People
simply want an easier, faster way to be entertained. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The media is constantly presenting beautiful, perfectly shaped super models and celebrities to public
viewers. This unrealistic image gives children and teens, specifically girls, an illustration of what they
should be, according to the media.
Movies and television have also contributed to value and personality change in society. Yes, blaming
the media for acts of violence cannot entirely be justified, but it certainly seems to have helped evolve
such things. Over the past few decades, movies, television, and even some music have progressed to
an aggressively violent stage. It seems the media often depicts gruesome, dark, and complex images in
movies and television. Viewing movies where innocent individuals are hurt or harmed seem to grow
increasingly enjoyable to audiences.
Showing women as things and not beings worthy of respect have become trendy in the media as well.
Some rap videos, often portray women as scantily clad and obedient to commands or desires. These
kinds of images are degrading to women who have worked to break the glass ceiling in the business
world, and to prove that women can be just as or even more powerful than men can.
The public has become increasingly reliant on the media, so entertainment has had to change with
today s society to fit those people s needs and keep hold of their attention. The

ANALYSIS
THE GRASSHOPPER AND THE BELL CRICKET
BY: YASUNARI KAWABATA
The grasshopper and the bell cricket is a short story, written by Yasunari Kawabata, written in a
narrative perspective of someone watching children searching for insects using colored and decorated
lanterns. I would like to think that the author is trying to symbolize life, and that it is not only one path
to go. We are all aiming for acceptance and to fit in to the society, but this story tells us that
The author, who put himself as narrator, describes how he walks through the halls of the university
and approaches the upper school and its playground, and he seems to get so emotionally attached that
he cannot take another turn. I turned right so as not to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even the narrator comments I felt slightly jealous of the boy, and sheepish . When the boy gives away
the grasshopper to a girl, who was one of many who wanted it, the girl shouted out Oh! It s not a
grasshopper. It s a bell cricket.
I read an analysis on this short story on a blog, called Generation , and I agree with his thoughts
behind the symbolism of the transformation of the bell cricket from the boy to the girl, he states that it
could be translated into the development of love and how, as rare as it is in the wild, one can captivate
with a simple giving gesture. The narrator goes on to explain the rarity of such a find; even if you have
the wit to look by yourself in a bush away from the other children, there are not many bell crickets in
the world.
I agree on the romantic messages behind this story, but I would also like to think that it describes, as I
mentioned in the beginning of the analysis, life in general with the hunting of acceptation, that it is not
only one way to go. It does not matter what color or decorations your lantern is, a multi colored is just
as beautiful.

Carl Jung s Attitude Towards Women
Carl Jung
Early Life
Carl Gustav Jung was born on July 26th 1875. He was born to Paul Achilles Jung and Emilie
Preiswerk in the town of Kesswil, Switzerland. Jung was the 4th child born but the only child that
survived. His family life was strained, and his mother spent the majority of her time locked in her
room, where she said that spirits visited her at night. When the family moved to Laufen his mother
was hospitalized due to an unknown physical ailment. Jung was sent to live with his mother s
unmarried sister, but was later sent back home to his father. The stressful relationship with his mother
in his early life influenced Jung s attitude towards women, one he describes as being of innate
unreliability . This was a view that he later referred to as the handicap I started off with.
As a child, Jung was often introverted and isolated. At 12 years old Jung was pushed so hard to the
ground by another classmate that he lost consciousness. Afterwards, his parents were led to believe
that he may have had epilepsy. It is unknown whether this event had a negative impact on him in the
future. Jung grew up with the belief that he had two opposing personalities: One personality being a
typical schoolboy, and the other being a largely influential figure from the past. Carl Jung s work was
largely influenced by his experiences as a child. As a boy, Jung would visit his attic to bring a small
wooden mannequin he had carved small sheets of paper with

Persuasive Essay On School Uniforms
Americans spend large amounts of money every year on clothes, when their children return to school.
Students want name brand clothing that comes with a high price tag, and not all parents can afford
these expensive brands; due to this, it leaves their children to be ridiculed by the students who parents
can. The mocking from peers affects students emotionally. Another issue with students being able to
decide for themselves what to wear is their choice to wear inappropriate attire. There is much
controversy within schools when determining what clothing is considered appropriate or
inappropriate. The argument has been made that by requiring students to wear uniforms it takes away
their individuality. This encourages the students to focus on their outward appearance more than their
inner characteristics. In the past attitudes toward school uniforms has been negative, but according to
West, Tidwell, Bomba, and Elmore, This practice is changing as more U.S. public school
administrators have become interested in the use of school uniforms (pg.92). Students should be
required to wear uniforms to school because it reduces the cost of school clothes, makes everyone
equal, and removes the issue of inappropriate attire.
Every year parents spend large amounts of money on clothes for their children in preparation for the
beginning of a new school year. This price increases with the desire to purchase expensive name brand
clothes to fit in with other students. School uniforms can

King Arthur Character Analysis
King Arthur isn t a strong leader! Everyone believes that King Arthur had a perfect kingdom and that
he was a strong and brave leader and could face any danger and come back alive. In King Arthur and
His Knights of the Round Table by Roger Lancelyn Green, King Arthur has trouble making crucial
decisions in the story and lets his emotions get the best of him during drastic times, during the trial of

she is the fairest, sweetest, loveliest, and purest maiden in all the world. Her will I wed, or die a
bachelor! Certainly she is among the fairest, said Merlin. Yet I would that you loved another; for by
her very beauty shall come the end of Logres (...). Even though Merlin warns Arthur about the danger
of him marrying Guinevere and Arthur refuses to listen to his advisor and this decision did bring the
end to the realm of Logres. King Arthur lets his past get the best of his judgement. King Arthur let

Reflection On The Scarlet Ibis
The symbol I chose as the focal point on my poster was the Scarlet Ibis (the bird). I chose this because
this was not only the title of the original story, but it was one of the main ideas in the story. When
Doodle found the bird outside, all he wanted to do was bury it when it died, and I think that was a
really special part of the story. I think this really shows who Doodle is, and how his family reacts to it
shows that they know he s sensitive so they treat him with kindness. The theme of the narrative is
perseverance because at first, the brother and his parents need to persevere through having this
disappointment of a child/brother. The brother perseveres through having a not so brother and possibly

Flossing is just as important as brushing. In fact, it can remove bacteria and plaque that you may not

Change Your Diet
What you eat can have just as much impact on your teeth and gums as your diet. A nutritious diet can
start a process called remineralization. These minerals help strengthen the teeth. There was a study
done by a dentist named Dr. Weston Price. He has traveled around the world and analyzed the dental
habits of people in different cultures.
Interestingly, he found that many of the people had nice teeth even though they did not brush and floss
regularly. He found that these people were following diets that were high in fat soluble vitamins and
minerals. They also followed diets that were low in refined sugar.
Therefore, you can improve your oral health by eating plenty of fruits, vegetables and lean protein.
You will also need to limit your intake of sugar and processed foods. You may have heard that
chewing gum is not good for your teeth. However, sugar free gum can benefit your teeth by
stimulating saliva production.

The causes of court delays in Malta are attributable to...
Court delays had already existed during the British Colonial period and while some delays are
considered as necessary, many people consider these delays as totally unacceptable. Numerous articles
are found online or on newspapers with regard to this issue and some people argue that the prolonging
of court delays is in breach of the fundamental right to a fair hearing in a reasonable time. These
delays relate to a variety of factors which to a certain extent are attributable to the procedure adopted
in the court. However, other factors such as the legal history, culture and social relations should also
be taken into consideration. During the Colonial period, the Maltese had resisted legal and judicial
interventions by the British authorities and this seems to affect the way we see the lawyer s
professional role today. At this point in time delays had already existed in civil litigation as the British
Royal Commission (1911) investigated these delays and it was in charge of reforms to the Maltese
judicial procedure. It focused mostly on the schedule followed by the courts for the hearing of cases.
Through these investigations, what emerged was that the system adopted for the hearing of civil cases
seemed to be based on the assumption that instead of a single session in which the case would be tried,
there would be a series of hearings, which could reach thirty or forty over a number of years and
which were usually separated from each other by periods of some three

Gender Bias For Dress Code

Student protests growing over gender equal dress codes I think that dress code at school is gender bias
because it s female specific, your socioeconomic status will help determine if you get dress coded or
not, boys don t usually get dress coded like girls do, and girls have a harder time dressing age
appropriate. Females are often targeted for dress code because the dress code lists more restrictions
and allocations for females instead of males. Dress code violations include baring shoulders, wearing
a tank top, or exposing a bra strap. Schools can be petty when getting on to girls for dress code issues.

An American War
American involvement in Vietnam was largely in response to Cold War polices and Strategies.
Kennedy took a much more laid back approach to Vietnam than Eisenhower did. He only wanted to
support the South and not give them direct military aid by getting involved. Kennedy believed that the
nations themselves should bear the burden of fighting the war and America would merely give them
supplies and political support. However, the administration s attempt to help the South largely failed

The fighting lasted for two days and nights, with both sides reporting heavy casualties. Ultimately in
the end the US won and Robert McNamara now had his strategy to win the war, numbers (We Were

North Vietnamese, which he thought would in the end lead to Ho Chi Minh surrendering because the
North Vietnamese would no longer be able to fight. The body count system was the only way he knew
to measure success since the ultimate US goal was to keep communist influence out of South Vietnam,

The US tactics for the war, such as its manpower policy had a great impact on the American soldiers.
One of the manpower policy tactics was to rotate soldiers out after a twelve month tour of duty, which

The Chaos Of Establishing An American Identity
On the Chaos of Establishing an American Identity: Charles Ives
Charles Ives is the quintessential 20th century American composer. From his early organ music and
music training to his later symphonic pieces and art songs, his music is drenched in early American
nostalgia, quotes, and culture. Not only has Ives come to be known so well for his establishment of an
American identity, but also his use of complex compositional techniques that fit so well in a post
Romantic era of music. Delving through the history of Ives requires a keen eye to see not only the use
of complexity, but to understand the context his music was written in. Through analyzing one of his
most notable orchestral works, Three Places in New England, one can see how Ives uses complex
compositional devices to not only establish his own identity as a composer but provide an American
context as well.
Biography
Charles Ives was born in 1874 in Danbury, Connecticut. Charles was raised in a musical family, his
father a well known bandmaster in his home county. George served as a soldier in the Union army
during the American civil war and was raised in the tradition of American military music, which
would be a great influence on his young son Charles musical development. Ives began his musical life
early playing drums and attending band events his father led in Danbury. In his early years, he picked
up many other instruments, soon becoming very proficient at the piano and organ. By the age of 14,

The Constitutional System Within The United Kingdom
A constitutional system within a country could be classified as one of the most important structures for
democracy; it should not only illustrate the structures and power of a government, but also state the
relationship between government and individuals. Constitutionalism can be classified into two distinct
categories: a codified written Constitutions (ie: United States), and an uncodified unwritten
constitution (ie: United Kingdom). Some consider the UK constitution as a risk to the democratic
society due to its flexibility and the chance of forming dictatorship. However, others believe that an
uncodified constitution could be beneficial within a constant changing and developing society. Hence,
rules and agreements could be easily modified and become up to date under an uncodified
constitution, whereas, a codified Constitution is less flexible with complex amendment procedures and
often seen as out dated.
In general, liberty and authority are two political factors that could be in constant conflict with each
other. Although John Stuart Mill (1869) suggested in On Liberty, that the only time a state could
interfere with an individuals freedom is by preventing harm from one another, the subject of a rigid
constitution and liberal democracy is still an on going discussion.
This essay will focus on the comparison between US Constitution and UK equivalent; the advantages
and disadvantages presented within the two constitutional systems, and secondly will discuss whether

After these expenses, the bank account was left with $4,000 in cash on March 31. Carmen decided to
expand by selling custom designed ribbon table arrangements for special events. As a result Carmen
she purchased a used sewing machine for $1,800 cash on May 1.
The investors asked Carmen to provide a financial report covering March 1st June 30th. Upon review
of this information, Carmen gathered the following. Customers paid $7,400 in cash for ribbons and
accessories, but she was still owed $320 for a transaction on June 30. A part time employee was still
owed $90 after being paid $1,510. Rent was paid in cash at the end of each month. Inventory
replenishments costing $2,900 had been delivered and paid for by June 30. Carmen estimated the June
30th merchandise inventory on hand had cost $4,100. Opening office supplies were almost all gone
with an estimated $20 in supplies was left.
Carmen did not know why Ribbons an Bows cash on June 30 was $3,390, which was less than the
April 1 balance of $4,000. She also had trouble accounting for the following in her financial report.
No interest had been paid on the investors loan. Related expenditures on the sewing machine and her
computer could prove to have estimated useful lives of 5 and 2 years respectively with no resale value.
She did not know how to account for the free legal work and cash register provided. She also had not
paid herself dividends for the four months of operations. If cash were available she

Dementia means [loss of mental faculties] as stated Advances in Art Therapy edited by Harriet
Wadeson et. al. Jean Durkin. Being simply senile is not the same as having Alzheimer s for the simple
fact that people who experience senility are experiencing symptoms of natural aging, not neurological
complications. Senility is shown in the decline of physical and mental abilities. People decline to
accept the fact that Alzheimer s disease is in fact a disease. Senility is normal. This disease is not a
natural progression of age. Many people misunderstand this fact because they mistake forgetfulness or
confusion in age as Alzheimer s disease. A website dedicated to Alzheimer s disease and dementia
called Alz.org describes possible causes for this deadly unforgettable disease. The cause as described
by the website is plaque deposits of proteins, specifically beta amyloid block nerves or that tangles
called tau best described as knotted fibers spawn in

Oracle Employ And Manipulate Users And Roles
Oracle DBAs employ and manipulate users and roles, as well as various other objects on a daily basis.
They do not belong to a schema similar to other objects, including profiles and tablespaces. Users and
roles access schema objects like tables, views, synonyms, and indexes. Even novice DBAs possess a
reasonable awareness of working with tables including querying, updating, reading, and deleting data
from them. Because tables can easily expand in row numbers, performance will inevitably suffer. An
adept DBA should retain a fundamental expertise of indexes to alleviate these performance issues.
Much like the index of a book, a database index speeds up table searches by adopting pointers to rows
of data in contrast to performing full table scans to locate a minute amount of data. An index is a data
structure (most commonly a B tree) that stores the values for a specific column in a table. The B tree
index is the prevailing index and takes advantage of an efficient algorithm for searching columns of
high cardinality. This type of search is performed in logarithmic time which exponentially decreases
the time to execute a search. Fig 2 illustrates a B tree index and how it provides more granular levels
of information at each level. An index is constructed on the last name column of a table. Oracle uses
Miller as the root node and divides any last names that are alphabetically less than Miller on the left
child node and any last names greater on the right side. The next level

The Potential Majors Of The Belk Scholar s Program
Course Overview I found this course to be highly valuable in its efforts to provide insight on the
potential majors of the Belk Scholar s program. While there remain many questions about the future
path of the program, it did help to solidify both my understanding of the major options and my
personal decision. I am more confident now that the M.S. in Economics is the option I will pursue.
Throughout the course, with every new topic, I always found myself asking the economic questions of
each issue. Furthermore, I continue to find the subject matter to be fascinating. Equally as beneficial
as knowing which path I am leaning towards was learning more about the other options. Prior to the
class, I had an incomplete idea of what Mathematical Finance is. As most people believe, I had taken
it to be a field dedicated primarily to money and how it is used. I now understand that this
misconception ignores the core of the field; which is risk. Our readings from Against the Gods were
beneficial in building a foundation for the field of Mathematical Finance. As was pointed out during
class, the book was very dense, but it did an excellent job in delivering complete information. I read
some additional chapters on my own and would have liked to have additional time during class to
discuss other parts of the book. The last of the degree options to discuss is the Data Science path.
While we did not dedicate a portion of the class solely to the data science field as we did with

Study on African American Youth and Young Adults with...
This paper proposes to address the psychological needs, behavioral factors, social factors surrounding
a stratified sample of African American youth and young adults with incarcerated fathers. In doing so,
assessment measures possessing test retest reliability to assess subjects mental health conditions, stress
related behavior, socioeconomic status, and interpersonal relationships. Incarcerated fathers who are
imprisoned for non violent crimes and are opened to reconcile and/or improve their relationship with
their children. Sample will be drawn from a non profit organization geared toward keeping imprisoned
fathers in the Federal Bureau of Prisons and have had some communication with their children via pre
paid phone calls and Corrlinks (an electronic mail system in the FBOP prisoners and their families).
Mothers or caretakers will be encouraged to participate in the proposed intervention programs.
Introduction
Studies have shown that children of incarcerated mothers experience more mental health issues as
well as disruptions in their life because, more than likely, the mother was the primary caregiver prior
to incarceration. Therefore, more programs for reuniting children with their mothers have been
implemented yet the long time/short term effects of such programs remain unclear. Additionally, given
the effects of maternal incarceration tend to cause more disruption of the lives of youths, an
examination addressing reconciling relationships between

Weiner asks them on a scale of 1 10; how happy are you these days? , and the responses are as expected, multiple eights and nines and even at seven. The Swiss interviewees were shocked as Weiner to see that they were quite happy with their lives. During the interview with them, he further asks, what is it that makes them happy? , the doctor replies, Envy. , explaining that the Swiss will do anything to avoid envy with each other. Living by rules and judgment for example; no flushing the toilet after ten or no laughing after midnight, etc. In addition to his research, he remembers that a certain naturalist, claimed that humans have the innate love for nature through evolutionary past. Weiner then takes a trip to Bern; a place so quaint, you might end up leaving from insanity, of it is so quiet and small. He then travels to Zurich for a short while, to see how well people on that side of town spend their happiness. To his shock, it is actually slow paced; every person is in no hurry to leave the beauty of the surroundings. Switzerland is a place of rules and morals, but full of judgment and monitored actions. • 4. Triple Bottom Line GETTING TO THE BOTTOM OF TRIPLE BOTTOM LINE Wayne Norman and Chris MacDonald Abstract: In this paper, we examine critically the notion of Triple Bottom Line accounting. We begin by asking just what it is that supporters of the Triple Bottom Line idea advocate, and attempt to distil specific, assessable claims from the vague, diverse, and sometimes contradictory uses of the Triple Bottom Line rhetoric. We then use these claims as a basis upon which to argue (a) that what is sound about the idea of a Triple Bottom Line is not novel, and (b) that what is novel about the idea is not sound. We argue on both conceptual and practical grounds that the Triple Bottom Line is an unhelpful addition to current discussions of corporate social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Organisations such as the Global Reporting Initiative and AccountAbility have embraced and promoted the 3BL concept for use in the corporate world. And corporations are listening. Companies as significant as AT T, Dow Chemical, Shell, and British Telecom, have used 3BL terminology in their press releases, annual reports and other documents. So have scores of smaller firms. Not surprisingly, most of the big accounting firms are now using the concept approvingly and offering services to help firms that want to measure, report or audit their two additional bottom lines. Similarly, there is now a sizable portion of the investment industry devoted to screening companies on the basis of their social and environmental performance, and many of these explicitly use the language of 3BL.^ Governments, government departments and political parties (especially Green parties) are also well represented in the growing documentation of those advocating or accepting 3BL principles. For many NGOs and activist organisations 3BL seems to be pretty much an article of faith. Given the rapid uptake by corporations, governments, and activist groups, the paucity of academic analysis is both surprising and worrisome. Our recent search of the principal academic databases turned up only about a dozen articles, mostly concentrated in journals catering to the intersection of management and environmentalism. The Senate is meant to play a neutral role, to be the final judge to make the un biased, informed decisions. Sometimes, the Senate has taken on other roles, which it performs and works with very effectively. In fairness to them, these often do not receive much media coverage, increasing the public perception that Senators do very little. For example, the Senate Standing Committee on Social Affairs, Science, and Tech released a report on the Health Care system, a month before the Romanow Report on Human Health Resources Planning. The Huns started to invade the territory north of the Black Sea which was where the Germanic People had settled. ( Middle Ages ). This led to the invasion of Western Rome which then led to the fall of the Western Empire who had lost almost all their power to be able to defend themselves. During the Middle Ages Catholic churches specifically the Popes were the ones who ruled much of the society as there was not one government that untied all the people in Western Rome during the Middle Ages ( Christianity In The Middle Ages. ). The society was greatly influenced by the Catholic Church at the beginning of the Middle ages due to its power over the people and the government which allowed them to create rules that were from God . The orchard will likely not receive any profits within the first five or so years. Probability The probability of not acquiring much income within the first few years is almost certain. Expected Outcome While the apple trees are growing and maturing, there will not be any major profit or revenue incurred by the apple orchard. It can be expected that after the trees mature enough to produce a sufficient amount of apples, the orchard will begin to become a steady revenue stream for Zenda. Triggers Further lack of income could be triggered by delays in planting, errors in maintenance of the trees, failure to grow certain trees (ex. Kingston Black variety). Anything that delays the orchard from becoming fully operational in the shortest time possible can reduce income. 6. Cost Analysis This budget involves several factors. First of all, the estimated costs of establishing the U Pick apple orchard and the cider orchard. To find the total cost, fixed costs and variable costs from year to year for establishing and maintaining each of these orchards must be recorded. The second factor is how much funding and aid Zenda will likely receive for this project, from various grants, donors, and potential partners. The Purpose Of The Individual Mandate The term individual mandate, as a component of the Affordable Care Act, is a mandatory requirement according to which the majority of people in the United States has to have some kind of health insurance. Most specifically, according to the fundamentals of this regulation, any individual who can afford a health insurance policy, but chooses not to do so, will have to pay a fine. Prior to the existence of the individual mandate, health insurance companies had the choice to reject people with health conditions that would potentially incur high costs. Under this provision, all Americans benefit a coverage plan regardless of their health Status. When healthcare companies are legally obligated to accept policy holders with any situation, every single American has the obligation to enroll in a healthcare plan. Yes, blaming the media for acts of violence cannot entirely be justified, but it certainly seems to have helped evolve such things. Over the past few decades, movies, television, and even some music have progressed to an aggressively violent stage. It seems the media often depicts gruesome, dark, and complex images in movies and television. Viewing movies where innocent individuals are hurt or harmed seem to grow increasingly enjoyable to audiences. Showing women as things and not beings worthy of respect have become trendy in the media as well. Some rap videos, often portray women as scantily clad and obedient to commands or desires. Analysis the Grasshopper and the Bell Cricket ANALYSIS THE GRASSHOPPER AND THE BELL CRICKET BY: YASUNARI KAWABATA The grasshopper and the bell cricket is a short story, written by Yasunari Kawabata, written in a narrative perspective of someone watching children searching for insects using colored and decorated lanterns. I would like to think that the author is trying to symbolize life, and that it is not only one path to go. We are all aiming for acceptance and to fit in to the society, but this story tells us that The author, who put himself as narrator, describes how he walks through the halls of the university and approaches the upper school and its playground, and he seems to get so emotionally attached that he cannot take another turn. I read an analysis on this short story on a blog, called Generation , and I agree with his thoughts behind the symbolism of the transformation of the bell cricket from the boy to the girl, he states that it could be translated into the development of love and how, as rare as it is in the wild, one can captivate with a simple giving gesture. The narrator goes on to explain the rarity of such a find; even if you have the wit to look by yourself in a bush away from the other children, there are not many bell crickets in the world. I agree on the romantic messages behind this story, but I would also like to think that it describes, as I mentioned in the beginning of the analysis, life in general with the hunting of acceptation, that it is not only one way to go. He was born to Paul Achilles Jung and Emilie Preiswerk in the town of Kesswil, Switzerland. Jung was the 4th child born but the only child that survived. His family life was strained, and his mother spent the majority of her time locked in her room, where she said that spirits visited her at night. When the family moved to Laufen his mother was hospitalized due to an unknown physical ailment. Jung was sent to live with his mother s unmarried sister, but was later sent back home to his father. The stressful relationship with his mother in his early life influenced Jung s attitude towards women, one he describes as being of innate unreliability . This was a view that he later referred to as the handicap I started off with. As a child, Jung was often introverted and isolated. At 12 years old Jung was pushed so hard to the ground by another classmate that he lost consciousness. Afterwards, his parents were led to believe that he may have had epilepsy. It is unknown whether this event had a negative impact on him in the future. Jung grew up with the belief that he had two opposing personalities: One personality being a typical schoolboy, and the other being a largely influential figure from the past. Students want name brand clothing that comes with a high price tag, and not all parents can afford these expensive brands; due to this, it leaves their children to be ridiculed by the students who parents can. The mocking from peers affects students emotionally. Another issue with students being able to decide for themselves what to wear is their choice to wear inappropriate attire. There is much controversy within schools when determining what clothing is considered appropriate or inappropriate. The argument has been made that by requiring students to wear uniforms it takes away their individuality. This encourages the students to focus on their outward appearance more than their inner characteristics. In the past attitudes toward school uniforms has been negative, but according to West, Tidwell, Bomba, and Elmore, This practice is changing as more U.S. public school administrators have become interested in the use of school uniforms (pg.92). Court delays had already existed during the British Colonial period and while some delays are considered as necessary, many people consider these delays as totally unacceptable. Numerous articles are found online or on newspapers with regard to this issue and some people argue that the prolonging of court delays is in breach of the fundamental right to a fair hearing in a reasonable time. These delays relate to a variety of factors which to a certain extent are attributable to the procedure adopted in the court. However, other factors such as the legal history, culture and social relations should also be taken into consideration. During the Colonial period, the Maltese had resisted legal and judicial interventions by the British authorities and this seems to affect the way we see the lawyer s professional role today. At this point in time delays had already existed in civil litigation as the British Royal Commission (1911) investigated these delays and it was in charge of reforms to the Maltese judicial procedure. It focused mostly on the schedule followed by the courts for the hearing of cases. Through these investigations, what emerged was that the system adopted for the hearing of civil cases seemed to be based on the assumption that instead of a single session in which the case would be tried, there would be a series of hearings, which could reach thirty or forty over a number of years and which were usually separated from each other by periods of some three ... • 41. The Constitutional System Within The United Kingdom A constitutional system within a country could be classified as one of the most important structures for democracy; it should not only illustrate the structures and power of a government, but also state the relationship between government and individuals. Constitutionalism can be classified into two distinct categories: a codified written Constitutions (ie: United States), and an uncodified unwritten constitution (ie: United Kingdom). Some consider the UK constitution as a risk to the democratic society due to its flexibility and the chance of forming dictatorship. However, others believe that an uncodified constitution could be beneficial within a constant changing and developing society. Hence, rules and agreements could be easily modified and become up to date under an uncodified constitution, whereas, a codified Constitution is less flexible with complex amendment procedures and often seen as out dated. In general, liberty and authority are two political factors that could be in constant conflict with each other. Although John Stuart Mill (1869) suggested in On Liberty, that the only time a state could interfere with an individuals freedom is by preventing harm from one another, the subject of a rigid constitution and liberal democracy is still an on going discussion. This essay will focus on the comparison between US Constitution and UK equivalent; the advantages and disadvantages presented within the two constitutional systems, and secondly will discuss whether or ... Being simply senile is not the same as having Alzheimer s for the simple fact that people who experience senility are experiencing symptoms of natural aging, not neurological complications. Senility is shown in the decline of physical and mental abilities. People decline to accept the fact that Alzheimer s disease is in fact a disease. Senility is normal. This disease is not a natural progression of age. Many people misunderstand this fact because they mistake forgetfulness or confusion in age as Alzheimer s disease. A website dedicated to Alzheimer s disease and dementia called Alz.org describes possible causes for this deadly unforgettable disease. • 45. Oracle Employ And Manipulate Users And Roles Oracle DBAs employ and manipulate users and roles, as well as various other objects on a daily basis. They do not belong to a schema similar to other objects, including profiles and tablespaces. Users and roles access schema objects like tables, views, synonyms, and indexes. Even novice DBAs possess a reasonable awareness of working with tables including querying, updating, reading, and deleting data from them. Because tables can easily expand in row numbers, performance will inevitably suffer. An adept DBA should retain a fundamental expertise of indexes to alleviate these performance issues. Much like the index of a book, a database index speeds up table searches by adopting pointers to rows of data in contrast to performing full table scans to locate a minute amount of data. An index is a data structure (most commonly a B tree) that stores the values for a specific column in a table. The B tree index is the prevailing index and takes advantage of an efficient algorithm for searching columns of high cardinality. This type of search is performed in logarithmic time which exponentially decreases the time to execute a search. Fig 2 illustrates a B tree index and how it provides more granular levels of information at each level. An index is constructed on the last name column of a table. Oracle uses Miller as the root node and divides any last names that are alphabetically less than Miller on the left child node and any last names greater on the right side. The next level ... • 46. The Potential Majors Of The Belk Scholar s Program Course Overview I found this course to be highly valuable in its efforts to provide insight on the potential majors of the Belk Scholar s program. While there remain many questions about the future path of the program, it did help to solidify both my understanding of the major options and my personal decision. I am more confident now that the M.S. in Economics is the option I will pursue. Throughout the course, with every new topic, I always found myself asking the economic questions of each issue. Furthermore, I continue to find the subject matter to be fascinating. Equally as beneficial as knowing which path I am leaning towards was learning more about the other options. Prior to the class, I had an incomplete idea of what Mathematical Finance is. As most people believe, I had taken it to be a field dedicated primarily to money and how it is used. I now understand that this misconception ignores the core of the field; which is risk. Our readings from Against the Gods were beneficial in building a foundation for the field of Mathematical Finance. As was pointed out during class, the book was very dense, but it did an excellent job in delivering complete information. I read some additional chapters on my own and would have liked to have additional time during class to discuss other parts of the book. The last of the degree options to discuss is the Data Science path. While we did not dedicate a portion of the class solely to the data science field as we did with ... This paper proposes to address the psychological needs, behavioral factors, social factors surrounding a stratified sample of African American youth and young adults with incarcerated fathers. In doing so, assessment measures possessing test retest reliability to assess subjects mental health conditions, stress related behavior, socioeconomic status, and interpersonal relationships. Incarcerated fathers who are imprisoned for non violent crimes and are opened to reconcile and/or improve their relationship with their children. Sample will be drawn from a non profit organization geared toward keeping imprisoned fathers in the Federal Bureau of Prisons and have had some communication with their children via pre paid phone calls and Corrlinks (an electronic mail system in the FBOP prisoners and their families). Mothers or caretakers will be encouraged to participate in the proposed intervention programs. Introduction Studies have shown that children of incarcerated mothers experience more mental health issues as well as disruptions in their life because, more than likely, the mother was the primary caregiver prior to incarceration. Therefore, more programs for reuniting children with their mothers have been implemented yet the long time/short term effects of such programs remain unclear. Additionally, given the effects of maternal incarceration tend to cause more disruption of the lives of youths, an examination addressing reconciling relationships between ...
