Television, Television And Public Places
1a. It is very important to draw comparison between the internet, library, television and public places
as a result of the fact the internet can also be considered or viewed as a public place where information
can be obtained freely at any point in time, and this makes it very important to know what the law says
about this disseminating information to the general public with respect to the first amendment.
Looking at this various medium i.e libraries, television and public places and what the law stipulates
according to the United State constitution the first amendment expressly forbids against depriving
citizens their right to freedom of speech, of press, right to assemble and petition the government. But
in this case emphasis is placed on the freedom of speech. The entire medium stated above has
differences between them and the difference between them how the freedom of speech law applies to
each one of them, for example the library consist of various material including the press, which has
been granted lots flexibility when it comes to freedom of speech been the oldest media but the content
available in the library is still controlled by the owner of the library so that it does not infringe on any
law. Likewise the television the government has set up various body to control what is being aired to
the general public, but it does not have any control of privately owned television providers such as
charter, dish etc. 1b. The internet is similar to the library, television

Candles, A Remarkable, Yet Simple Creation
Candles are a remarkable, yet simple creation. Understanding the origin of candles, types of candles,
benefits, uses, and how they work is most often ignored. Fragrant smells and vibrant colors can
occasionally overpower their overall importance. The history of candles may be unknown in some
instances, but studies have found evidence relating back to the Ancient Egyptians before 3,000 B.C. It
has also been found that the Ancient Romans developed the wicked candle later after 3,000 B.C.
(Communications, 2015) For hundreds of centuries, the creation of the candle has remained popular
for its uses throughout the world. Although candles continue to have admirable qualities throughout
their existence, explanation of candles often goes unnoticed and overlooked. Candle waxes have a
complex history along with several uses and benefits suitable for use in situations, such as when the
power goes out or to ward off bugs.
Origin
The history of candles may be unknown in some instances, but studies have found evidence relating
back to the Ancient Egyptians. The Ancient Egyptians used torches or other known as rushlights. The
cores of the reeds of torches, were soaked in melted animal fat and lit with a fire source. Although
unlike a true candle, the torches or rushlights did not have a wick. Later after 3,000 B.C., the Ancient
Romans developed the wicked candle. Rolled papyrus was dipped in melted animal fat (also known as
tallow) or beeswax then lit with fire. The light from the flame

A Project Management Class For Teams
OLS 371 is a project management class for teams to learn project management skills through planning
and developing through hosting a community service event in the form of a bike ride for Central
Indiana Bicyclers Association (CIBA). Team is defined as a group of people that come together to
achieve a common goal. The common goal for students in OLS 371 was to successfully host a bike
ride. The objectives for the pesky peddlers team were; 1. To host a CIBA bike event with a short and
long route. 2. Outline a bike routes effectively to ensure an easy/safe ride. 3. Prepare riders with easy
to read maps. 4. Ensure a safe route with well thought out Support and Gear (SAG) locations. Students

The storming stage is where team members are forced to address issues that might cause some form of
conflict. In the storming stage, the team is looking for structural clarity and rules to prevent conflict
from happening. The project manager needs to be assertive, actively listening to the members, and
encouraging members to view other alternatives. It is important to involve everyone in discussions.
The project manager raises difficult issues and coaches the team through their struggles. The pesky
peddlers had their operating guidelines in place, and roles and responsibilities were clearly defined. At
this point, students were supportive off each other and was appreciative of other s skills and
experience. The team responded well to the guidance of the project manager. During the norming
stage, the pesky peddlers team marked a short and a long route with Dan Henry s for bikers to follow.
Dan Henry s are symbols that allow riders to follow established courses easily without cues sheets or
map. However, each rider was provided a cue sheet a map at the beginning of the ride in case they had
questions during their ride. There were two SAG stops for the long route and one SAG stop for the
short route. Drinks and snacks were provided at both SAG stops free of charge to the riders. The pesky
peddlers gained confidence and felt a sense of momentum and this is how they were able to move on
the performing stage. The pesky peddler s team successfully made

Once again this can cause a lot of stress on both the public services and the citizens. This can lead to
the stress of families for their children knowing there is a sex worker on the loose. The public services
will be spending a lot of money trying to track this man down. Money will also be used for the
forensics of the murder. The public services will also have to contact the border security, previous
employees, friends and family to see if they know anything and to report to the police if they hear
anything or see him. This media story also highlights the risks involved in working in the sex industry
in the UK. In other European Countries prostitutes are given protection by the public services, The
risk involved in this type of work means that the Police will be regularly involved in investigations of
this nature, this may be seen as a good thing by some people as it keeps the Police active and aware of

The Great Trophy Debate
For many kids around the world, childhood sports are a cherished and blossom lasting friendships.
Some kids choose to participate and others just sign their children up. Recently, The Great Trophy
Debate has sparked a question of whether or not all participants should receive trophies or not.
Currently, many sport organizations have taken about traditional trophies and substituted participation
trophies for all. O Sullivan argues that participation trophies are not really trophies because the more
trophies given out, the less worth each will have. O Sullivan argues, Supporters of such trophies state
that trophies motivate kids to play, yet research shows that extrinsic motivation on its own can be
harmful, not helpful. ( The Great Trophy Debate. ) O Sullivan means that traditional trophies inspire
young athletes to compete with excellence. A trophy signifies an accomplishment. Yes, it is wrong and
harmful for an athlete to be solely motivated by winning a trophy. O Sullivan argues, that is equally as
harmful to remove this reward and act like a losing team is just as good as a winning team. Without
competition, what are sports?

Participation trophies are wrong because they diminish the value of trophies and wreck the
competitive spirit of youth sports. Yes, some parents and kids take youth sports too seriously.
Participation trophies are not the answer to solving this issue. Participations trophies are unjust
because they do not reward those who deserve it and do reward those who do not deserve it. A
utilitarian would also see these trophies as an awful use of resources. Wouldn t the result be the same
if youths were all given participation trophies or they all were not given anything? The minimum
number of trophies optimizes the effect it has on the athletes. This is the best use of resources and
truly embodies what a trophy

The Membrane Potential Between Outside And The Inside Cell...
Option 2:
The resting membrane potential is the difference between the outside and the inside cell membrane
polarity. It is called a resting potential because it occurs when a membrane is not being stimulated or
conducting impulses (Ritchison n.d.). This polarity can be measured and it is about 70mv. In the
resting membrane potential, outside the cell has a more positive polarity and inside the cell has more
negative polarity. There are more Na+ and Cl on the outside and larger negative proteins (because they
cannot go through the tiny pores to outside) and more K+ inside the cell (Ceballos, 2016).
Diffusion, electrostatic pressure, and sodium potassium pump are the main forces affecting the resting
membrane potential. Diffusion and electrostatic pressure work against the resting membrane potential
and sodium potassium pump help the resting potential. Diffusion occurs if there is a concentration
gradient present and the molecules move from the higher concentration to the lower concentration.
Electrostatic pressure work as simple as a magnetic effect, which is characterized by the opposite
attraction of. Sodium Potassium pump is an active mechanism and need energy (by food etc.) to work.
In this case, 3 Na+ ions are excluded to the outside of the cell and 2 K+ ions brought into to the cell.
This energy supply occurs through food we eat and they break ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) to ADP
(Adenosine Diphosphate). In action potential, only axon depolarization occurs, not to

Immigrants Adjust To American Culture
There are many ways for people from other countries to adjust to living in the United States. There are
also things that immigrants think they have to do to fit in. In this essay I will include the best ways for
immigrants to adjust to American culture. I will also include challenges immigrants face to fit in in
America. Finally, I will include what immigrants do to adapt to America. There are many ideas that
can help immigrants adjust to America. There are some that we can argue that are the best. I am going
to tell you the ones I think are the personal best. One is the share your life experiences. I know this
because it states in http://denizenmag.com/2011/09/5 ways to adjust to american culture/ it states,
Sharing your life experiences is one thing, and life as a TCK is pretty awesome. This shows that
immigrants can share their life experiences and and can help Americans learn about places they have
not been. Also, immigrants can explore and try new things. I know this because in

American football game may sound strange to you. Go to one and figure it out for yourself. This
shows that if they try knew things they may learn more about America. Another, idea is to get
involved in as many things as you can. Such as, clubs at school and volunteering for community
service. Getting involved will help you get to know more people and learn about things we do in

Conflict is one of our most interesting aspects of life. Although it is more ornamental as a spectator,
we finally find ourselves engaged in our interpersonal conflict experience. On the other hand, conflicts
in interpersonal relationships break down, and began to destroy relationships. As communications
becomes invalid, your sentiment takes over and it will destroy your relationship. This can create short
term and long term damage to the relationship. It is about understanding, trust and effective

Global Warming And Global Climate Change
Global warming and global climate change has been a consistent news headline and global topic for
the past two decades. From a political standpoint, there has been great debate as to whether or not
humans are completely to blame, partially to blame, or to blame at all for the changes we are seeing in
the Earth s climate. However, from a scientific perspective, this is not the case. From the Kyoto
Protocol, to dummy downed explanation like in Al Gore s An Inconvenient Truth , to NASA s
comprehensive monitoring of the Earth s vital signs , the idea that the human race has had a gigantic
and irreversible effect on the global climate is the consensus among the scientific community.
According to one major study, ninety seven percent of climate scientists those who solely focus on
studying the earth s climate agree that the changes we are seeing are very likely caused by human
activity ( very likely being with at least 95% certainty). (W.R.L. Anderegg) Unfortunately, scientific
evidence does not always correlate with proactive measures in society. Taking the United State s
government and society as a case study, large scale projects or changes tend to be reactionary with
contemporary issues. While frustrating, this fact can be somewhat understandable for a few major
issues like military force or foreign economic aid (due prudence for the best course of action).
Unfortunately, this doesn t seem to be the case for the global climate; that is, Mother Nature does not

Advantages Of Reflexive Standardization Of The Information...
According to Ole Hanseth et al (2010), reflexive standardization is the process of supporting efforts to
bring about order and organization in a function, and instead of achieving positive results, negative
results are achieved. Reflexive standardization brings about negative results as a result of failing to be
planned adequately from the onset. For instance, take for example the Norwegian hospital; the
development of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) was developed as a fragmented record of
databases. The records brought about challenges in the manner in which they were accessed and as a
result, there was need to redesign the system. Instead of setting aside a development team to redesign
the system based on thorough research, the hospital decided to centralize the database and create
several views for different system users to view these records. This was deemed to be the reflexive
standardization of the information system. It had both advantages and disadvantages as discussed.
Necessity and Advantages
The proverbial elephant in the room was the scattering of records and the need to ... Show more

Most are not able to fully imitate a traditionally synchronized system such as an hospital. They thus
offer the necessary support to these systems instead of fully taking over their functions. In this case,
the systems present seemed to hinder the proper functioning of the hospital to its optimal potential. It
did not do much to increase service delivery thus came off as a hindrance to the success of the hospital
s functions. The system was also deemed by Ole Hanseth (2010) as a complex system. The word
complex is defined with respect to the ability of the new practitioners to understand the use of the
system. By being complex, the system fails in its quest to become a better solution as opposed to
traditional record keeping

Benjamin Lev s Struggle With Their Ultra Orthodox...
Critical Lens Hypothesis: Asher Lev s struggle to reconcile his gift with his ultra orthodox religious
beliefs can be explained in Freudian terms. The human psyche is an incredibly complex system. It
controls us in every aspect of our lives, rewarding us for a job well done while also making us feel
guilty for each mistake we make. Our psyche is influenced by the world in which we live, by our
immediate family and friends and also by those who we will meet during our lives. Each and every
stage of life will result in us experiencing more, and in doing so, those experiences will shape who we
will become. Our psyche is made up of three very important parts: the id, the ego, and the superego.
The id is the primitive and instinctive component of personality. It consists of all the biological
components of personality, including the life instinct and the death instinct. The id is the only part of
our psyche which is present from birth. It is concerned only with the immediate satisfaction of our
needs and has no respect for the consequences or impact on other people. The ego is the part which
attempts to reconcile our id s irrational tendencies with the realities of the world. The ego is tasked
with working out realistic ways of satisfying the id s demands, often postponing satisfaction to avoid
negative consequences of society. The superego s function is to control the id s impulses, especially
those which society forbids and to reward us when we do good (ideal

Cyber Bullying Persuasive Essay
Inspirational speaker, writer, and community leader Anna Maria Chávez once said Cyber Bullies can
hide behind a mask of anonymity online, and do not need direct physical access to their victims to do
unimaginable harm. Cyberbullying is negatively taking over technology and adults aren t aware of the
potential dangers it has on their children. To start, children and teens do not talk to their parents about
the acts of cyberbullying that occur on their technology. Over half of young teens do not tell their
parents when cyberbullying occurs. (Webstar, 2017) This is a big problem. This means that children
are hurting, the result of cyberbullying, and they are afraid to talk to their parents, or any adult for that
matter. They are keeping their emotions bottled up inside them, and parents have no idea this is
happening. In fact, only 1 in 10 teens tell an adult if they have been a cyberbully victim. (Webstar,
2017) These numbers should not be the effect of cyberbullying. Children have to seek help from
adults and stop the cyber bullies hiding behind their screen. Might I add, it should not be all on the
children s shoulders. They are the victim, and they should stand up for themselves, but why should it
be all on them? Parents have to be on the lookout for cyber bullying these days. Only 32% of parents
actually monitor their children s social networking activities, while 28% admitted they only
occasionally, rarely or never monitor activity. (Anderson, 2016) This 28% of

The Future Prospects Of Norway
In order to discuss the future prospects of Norway for the coming years, it is interesting and useful to
review the performance of the country in the past to identify possible trends.
At the end of 2013, Norway was calculated as having the second highest GDP in the world (only
under Luxembourg), as it was 65,515 US dollars per capita. The following graph (Chart 1 see
appendix) shows the growth in Norway s GDP from 1970. Here, we can see the effect of the recession
in 2008, and how it reflected on the downfall of the GDP s value. Only until 2010 is where we see the
value become even with the pre crisis number. Yet, according to Figure 1 (below), the index shows
that it has not yet reached the value that it would have, following the trend prior to 2008.
Figure 1. Norway s Gross Domestic Product. The graphic shows the growth of GDP for Norway in
red, Luxemburg in black and the rest of the OECD countries in grey.
Source: OECD, 2014
Apart from GDP, there are also other indicators that can give us an impression of the economic
performance of Norway in the past years. For instance, in 2013 the long term unemployment rate was
9.3% and the overall trend suggests it may continue to go down (Appendix 1, Chart 1). This refers to
those in unemployment that are aged 15 and over, were without work during the reference week, yet
were available for and actively seeking for work during the previous four weeks.
Moreover, the inflation and long term interest rates

Why Did Crispin Run
What would you do if a fierce tyrant came at you swinging his sword savagely? When Crispin s

that after being set free Crispin s best interests would be to escape but some people think that he still

no reason not to run from John. His life was horrible even before his mother died and after she died

Midwifery Care Shortage Essay
Introduction
There is a predicted midwifery workforce shortage (The Department of Health, 2013). To address this,
the Australian Government has been implementing measures to support midwives to work to their full
scope of practice including increasing midwifery care in community settings (Department of Health
and Ageing, 2010).
This research proposal aims to understand and interpret metropolitan hospital based lived experience
of providing extramural midwifery care after hospital based midwifery experience.
From this understanding any issues that impact negatively on midwives may be identified and the risk
mitigated.
Contextual review
The majority of maternity care is provided within a hospital setting and within a medical model
(Owens, et al., 2016).
The Australian Government policy is to increase women s access to midwifery care within their local
community (Department of Health and Ageing, 2010) however the majority of publically employed
metropolitan midwives are siloed into discrete areas of practice (antenatal, birthing, postnatal care and
home visiting). Providing care outside of a hospital setting is new to many metropolitan Australian
midwives.
Literature review
A literature review was undertaken in August and September 2016 through Queensland University of
Technology (QUT) library service to ascertain if this experience has been studied and to identify other
similar studies and how they were designed.

The Role Of Children In The 1800s
The way children grow up and are treated by their parents has changed immensely from the 18 and
1900s. Adult perspective of children has also changed. Children are no longer viewed as property, but
an actual human being who has choices. New laws and organizations have outlawed and forbid certain
acts against children. In the United States, if one is under the age of 18 years old they are considered a
child. There is a vast difference between how children were treated in the 1800s and in today s
society; whether it s child abuse or child labor, how children are raised has changed for the better. It is

Previously, education was reserved for the wealthy. There were also a few smaller schools for parents
who chose to send their kids. For example, Huck Finn was not required to attend school, but chose to

were becoming more numerous and states were beginning to require school attendance. By 1920, all
of the states required students from ages 8 to 14 to attend school for part of the year. These schools
were one roomed school houses with classes ranging in all ages. Kids walked to school everyday,
most walked around four to five miles round trip. Students learned with limited school supplies,
sometimes only a slate, chalk, and a few educational books. School discipline, however, could be
rather strict. Teachers were allowed to smack kids with rulers and other objects. Another difference
from today s schooling is the lunches. There was no such thing as a school lunch program, so students
usually carried their lunch to school in metal

Comparing T-Mobile, Axe And Nike
Different companies have their own unique ways in advertising their products through TV
commercials, billboards, print ads and such. These marketing styles are commonly called as

advertisers use unrealistic propaganda about certain products, it has become effective in attracting
consumers to buy their products. Bandwagon is one technique used to convince people to join the

Saturation And Synthesis Essay
Discussion When the degree of saturation Ω is equal to one, the system is at equilibrium. When Ω is
greater than one, precipitation should occur because the solution is saturated in ions with respect to the
solid mineral form. The data show that gypsum should have started precipitating between sample 1
and sample 2 collection time, because this is when the degree of saturation moves to beyond 1. The
peak saturation for gypsum occurs between sample 3 and sample 4, and decreases afterwards. This
decrease is most likely caused by the decrease in available ions after gypsum continued to precipitate
through the experiment, leaving fewer calcium and sulfate ions to contribute to the degree of
saturation. As evaporation continues, halite approaches ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Health Risks Associated With The Additives
You Are What You Eat Do you read the labels on the products you buy? Do you know what is put in
the food you consume? There are many health risks associated with the additives in products. Most
Americans are unaware of the risks that are linked with the additives in commonly purchased
products. My daughter was one year old when I realized she was allergic to artificial coloring. One
morning we woke up and I made us a toasty bagel. I topped the warm crunchy bagel with light pink,
strawberry, cream cheese. We enjoyed our bagel as we watched Sunday morning cartoons. Suddenly I
noticed her face was as red as a cherry. In a panic I took her to the bathroom to check for other
symptoms. She was red from head to toe with red raised bumps all over. I immediately called the
doctor, who advised me to take her to the emergency room. After the doctor examined her she told us
it was a food allergy. I realized she broke out after eating food that contained artificial coloring. Once I
started to look at labels, to avoid buying harmful products, I realized almost everything contained
added coloring. Many manufactures over use artificial coloring in the United States, which can lead to
serious health problems. Americans need to become aware of what is added to our food, and ban
artificial coloring. How can we find a solution to a problem, if most of us are UN aware that a
problem exists? First, we must find out what is in artificial colors. Artificial color, food color, and

At a hundred and four years old, the State Theatre still stands as one of Bay City s most recognizable

Review Of The Defense Of Cover Songs
Don Cusic argues in his article, In Defense of Cover Songs, that cover artists should be awarded the
same legitimacy as songwriters, while critics believe otherwise, saying that singers should write their
own music. Cusic believes that being a cover artist does not take away any credibility from he or she
as an artist. Cover songs have existed for just as long as original music and they prove to be an outlet
for singers who are not able to write their own songs. Even great music legends such as Ella Fitzgerald
and Elvis Presley have created cover songs. Cover songs are so relevant because they are still
currently taking place in the time that is lived in today. This article is able to shed light on this topic.

Cusic then lets the reader know that cover songs are able to be hits in several genres at once, even
though they are not performed by the same artist.
Then, Cusic asserts that a cover song is a history lesson for a new audience that has never heard the
original song. These new songs and hits are able to generate new revenue from their sales and they
also generate a new market for cover artists. Cover songs are also beneficial because listeners enjoy
hearing a new artist perform familiar music to get them acquainted with that artist. Cusic also goes on
to explain how buyers may feel cheated when they buy an entire album, buy they only enjoy the hit
single. He then states that just because an artist has added is or her own written songs on an album, it
does not mean that those songs will be his or her strongest. Cusic now informs the reader that there
have been songwriters who write songs specifically for other artists to sing. There have even been
artists who have accepted their talents as a singer and not a songwriter, not feeling the need to be a co
writer on their albums. He then moves on to say that if an artist is caught in a time warp, he or she
should find great recordings to cover. Doing so does not make he or she any less of an artist. Little
Richard was not given the recognition that he deserved due to the segregation of the times. Instead,
singers who covered his songs received the credit. Singers have

Wiretapping In The United States
Many state legislatures in the United States enacted statutes that prohibited anybody from listening in
on telegraph communication. Telephone wiretapping began in the 1890s, following the invention of
the telephone recorder,[46] and its constitutionality was established in the Prohibition Era conviction
of bootlegger Roy Olmstead. Wiretapping has also been carried out under most Presidents, sometimes
with a lawful warrant since the Supreme Court ruled it constitutional in 1928. On October 19, 1963,
U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, who served under John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B.
Johnson, authorized the FBI to begin wiretapping the communications of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The wiretaps remained in place until April 1965 at his home and June 1966 at his office.[47] The
history of voice communication technology begins in 1876 with the invention of Alexander Graham

Second Hand Smoke Speech
Second hand Smoke He has his father s eyes and his mother s lungs. this is the message run by a

The Health And Funding Of Health Services Essay
Executive summary Healthcare IT infrastructure varies widely in developed countries, as indeed does
the organisation and funding of health services. This report provides a synopsis of the position in
France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, Poland and the USA. We also have brief
notes on EU level activities. Overall, developing countries have populations that are ageing and
becoming more demanding. This, coupled with technological progress, pushes up operational costs
faster than the general growth in prices or even incomes. The resulting cost control pressures are one
of the main drivers of IT expenditure. Improving service is also important but is generally secondary.
Thanks to the National Programme for IT (NPfIT) in England , the UK spends more money on health
IT than any other country in Europe, with €2.4bn of the EU s total of €8bn; France and Germany tag
along next at about €1.2bn each. US expenditure is significantly larger even on the most conservative
estimate, Americans spend at least half as much again as Europeans. When we look at expenditure per
capita, a different picture emerges. The high spending countries are Sweden (€62), the USA (€53) and
the UK (€43); next is the Netherlands on €31, then France and Germany with €19 and €17
respectively, while countries that have barely started to modernise their health services (such as Italy
and Poland) spend about €10 per person. There are many problems with comparability. For example, a

Sun as she effectuated her role as the superior head of the Younger family. In order to truly decipher
what the author wishes to share through the eyes of this character, it is important to take a thorough
and insightful analysis of her. By closely evaluating her role in the family, what she wants, her
personality, and, even what inanimate object she can be compared to, the reader will see what the
author, Lorraine Hansberry, had in mind as she matured this character. Mama s role in the Younger
family is very beneficial for the entire household. Her role continuously portrays her as arbitrator
throughout the play mainly because of the situations the family keeps running into. When Ruth, Mama

Essay on Neurobiological Mechanisms for Alcoholism
Neurobiological Mechanisms for Alcoholism
While alcohol could well be considered the most socially acceptable psychoactive drug in our society,
the dangers of alcohol abuse and addiction are well known. However, not everyone who uses, or even
abuses, alcohol will actually become an alcoholic who is physically dependent on the drug. Not all of
the mechanisms that cause one to become addicted to alcohol have been clarified. However, there
seem to be two main reasons for alcohol addiction. One is that the chronic consumption of alcohol
causes changes in the brain that result in a dependence on alcohol. Another is that some individuals
have abnormalities in their brains that result in a greater tendency to become addicted to alcohol. The

This manifests itself as increased tolerance to the effects of alcohol, since more of the drug is required
to achieve the same depressant and intoxicating effect.4 Because of the damage to the function of the
GABA inhibitory system, the CNS tends toward hyperexcitability, resulting in the anxiety, tremors,
disorientation, and hallucinations associated with alcohol withdrawal. Chronic exposure to alcohol
may also increase the sensitivity of glutamate receptors, and since glutamate is an excitatory
neurotransmitter this would contribute further to CNS hyperexcitability.5
Alcohol also seems to affect the binding properties of receptors for opioid peptides, as well as the
synthesis of these peptides. Specifically, alcohol may stimulate the release of lt;beta endorphins,
neurotransmitters held responsible for euphoria and anesthesia, accounting for some of the
intoxicating effects of alcohol.6 The experimental observation that the administration of opioid
blockers reduces craving for alcohol has led to FDA approval of naltrexone, a drug that interferes with
the function of opioid receptors, as a treatment for alcoholism.7
Thus, alcohol can cause physical addiction directly through its effects on many receptor sites in the
postsynaptic membranes of neurons. However, another important factor in the development of
alcoholism appears to be that the brains of alcoholics have abnormal neurotransmitter systems,

Effects Of Mongol Rule On China
In breaking down the causations and effects of the Mongols regarding their rule on China during 1200
1500, one can see these include the implementation of governing philosophies of elected officials that
shaped Chinese culture, the influence of tax farming systems on China s economy, and the influence
of trade on social hierarchies. An example of an impact by the Mongols on Chinese rule is the
negative influences of tax farming on Chinese economy. Another example of a causation of Mongol
rule on China is the of tax farming systems in order to improve revenue in the area.
China during Mongol domination, incorporated philosophy and organization into the government,
which helped it shape their cultural and political outlook. An example of an impact of Mongol rule on
China s government is their use of provinces to organize China s cities, specifically with Yunnan. The
Mongols used provinces to systemize the government and appointed governors to each district, where
that governor would take care of the taxes. The reason for this method of organization is that the
Mongols trusted foreigners more than the Chinese, so they appointed their tasks to foreigners such as
the governor of Yunnan. The governor of Yunnan didn t have any major positions, but he helped
develop the trade in his region and promoted Confucian belief which along with the provincial
organization shaped China. An example of a causation for the incorporation of Confucian belief in
government was due to the Mongols

Reaction Paper On Preposition
Preposition is a part of a sentence. Without a preposition, a sentence may not carry any meaning even.
A sentence may fail to give its complete meaning without a preposition. It is the most commonly used
functional word in sentences. A preposition is placed anywhere in a sentence. According to the rules of
forming a sentence, a sentence does not end with preposition. The usage of preposition at the end of
sentence is not grammatically correct, still, it is used. It is permissible in the modern times. A
preposition that comes at the end of sentence is called stranded preposition. No concrete and clear
definition can be given for each preposition except for a few. Most of the time, the meaning of
prepositions can only be inferred ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Placed over)
Preposition may be of a word or phrase,
e.g. (of words) at, in, on, etc.
e.g. (of phrases)
In spite of , on account of, instead of, etc. At times a preposition functions as a modifier. (I.e. as an
adjective or as an adverb)
e.g.
We arrived at 12 0 clock. (Adverb)
The news about him is not true. (Adjective)
The word preposition has its origin from a Latin word praepositia meaning placed before that is pre
positioned. It is placed before a noun, a pronoun, or a phrase. It shows or explains its temporal or
logical relationship of an object (a noun, a pronoun, or a phrase)
with some other noun or pronoun or adjective or phrase in sentences. Preposition tells or gives the
information or idea on the relationship between nouns or pronouns or something else. It tells, in what
relation a noun or a pronoun stands in regard to something else in a sentence.
The cat is under the table.
Here the preposition under is placed before the noun table and explains in what way the noun cat
stands in relation to the other noun table, in other words, the preposition under, explains in what way
the two nouns cat and table is related to each other:

Barbiturates Essay
The Inaba text describes the phenomenon of therapeutic index. Addiction to barbiturates can be
critical in terms of lethality as measured by the therapeutic index. Describe how this phenomenon
might lead to an accidental overdose. Why is this factor more critical with barbiturates than with other
classes of depressant drugs? Barbiturates are nonselective central nervous system (CNS) depressants,
capable of producing all degrees of depression from mild sedation and hypnosis to general anesthesia,
deep coma and death. The extent of CNS depression varies with the route of administration, dose and
pharmacokinetic characteristics of the particular barbiturate. Patient specific factors such as age,
physical or emotional state and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The drug is usually sold as a white powder, either in colorful capsules, tablets, and suppositories, or
dissolved in liquid for injection. Oral ingestion is usually preferred over injection, since results occur
quickly enough with the short acting capsules. Some barb freaks prefer the surging rush that comes
with mainlining, however, and ignore the possibilities of severe infection and abscess that may result
if the vein is missed and the drug is injected under the skin. Gangrene can occur if an artery is hit, and
may necessitate amputation of the affected part. Barbiturates affect the central nervous system by
depressing or inhibiting nerve signals in the brain, altering chemical balance and decreasing functions
of some organ systems. Heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, and neurological action are all
depressed, and general relaxation of the skeletal muscles occurs. Effects of the drug increase
according to dosage, as body functions decelerate: from anxiety relief to sedation to hypnosis to
anesthesia to coma to death. Once ingested, the drug enters the bloodstream and is distributed
throughout the body, with the highest accumulation in fat deposits and organ tissues. Barbiturates are
ultimately metabolized and eliminated through the kidneys and liver. Rate of effect depends on how
quickly the drug = moves through the body and is metabolized. Laboratory tests can indicate the
presence of barbiturates in the body. Dosage, type of barbiturate,

  • 2. Television, Television And Public Places 1a. It is very important to draw comparison between the internet, library, television and public places as a result of the fact the internet can also be considered or viewed as a public place where information can be obtained freely at any point in time, and this makes it very important to know what the law says about this disseminating information to the general public with respect to the first amendment. Looking at this various medium i.e libraries, television and public places and what the law stipulates according to the United State constitution the first amendment expressly forbids against depriving citizens their right to freedom of speech, of press, right to assemble and petition the government. But in this case emphasis is placed on the freedom of speech. The entire medium stated above has differences between them and the difference between them how the freedom of speech law applies to each one of them, for example the library consist of various material including the press, which has been granted lots flexibility when it comes to freedom of speech been the oldest media but the content available in the library is still controlled by the owner of the library so that it does not infringe on any law. Understanding the origin of candles, types of candles, benefits, uses, and how they work is most often ignored. Fragrant smells and vibrant colors can occasionally overpower their overall importance. The history of candles may be unknown in some instances, but studies have found evidence relating back to the Ancient Egyptians before 3,000 B.C. It has also been found that the Ancient Romans developed the wicked candle later after 3,000 B.C. (Communications, 2015) For hundreds of centuries, the creation of the candle has remained popular for its uses throughout the world. Although candles continue to have admirable qualities throughout their existence, explanation of candles often goes unnoticed and overlooked. Candle waxes have a complex history along with several uses and benefits suitable for use in situations, such as when the power goes out or to ward off bugs. Origin The history of candles may be unknown in some instances, but studies have found evidence relating back to the Ancient Egyptians. The Ancient Egyptians used torches or other known as rushlights. The cores of the reeds of torches, were soaked in melted animal fat and lit with a fire source. Although unlike a true candle, the torches or rushlights did not have a wick. Later after 3,000 B.C., the Ancient Romans developed the wicked candle. Some kids choose to participate and others just sign their children up. Recently, The Great Trophy Debate has sparked a question of whether or not all participants should receive trophies or not. Currently, many sport organizations have taken about traditional trophies and substituted participation trophies for all. O Sullivan argues that participation trophies are not really trophies because the more trophies given out, the less worth each will have. O Sullivan argues, Supporters of such trophies state that trophies motivate kids to play, yet research shows that extrinsic motivation on its own can be harmful, not helpful. ( The Great Trophy Debate. ) O Sullivan means that traditional trophies inspire young athletes to compete with excellence. A trophy signifies an accomplishment. Yes, it is wrong and harmful for an athlete to be solely motivated by winning a trophy. O Sullivan argues, that is equally as harmful to remove this reward and act like a losing team is just as good as a winning team. Without competition, what are sports? Trophies are expensive. • 7. The Membrane Potential Between Outside And The Inside Cell... Option 2: The resting membrane potential is the difference between the outside and the inside cell membrane polarity. It is called a resting potential because it occurs when a membrane is not being stimulated or conducting impulses (Ritchison n.d.). This polarity can be measured and it is about 70mv. In the resting membrane potential, outside the cell has a more positive polarity and inside the cell has more negative polarity. There are more Na+ and Cl on the outside and larger negative proteins (because they cannot go through the tiny pores to outside) and more K+ inside the cell (Ceballos, 2016). Diffusion, electrostatic pressure, and sodium potassium pump are the main forces affecting the resting membrane potential. Diffusion and electrostatic pressure work against the resting membrane potential and sodium potassium pump help the resting potential. Diffusion occurs if there is a concentration gradient present and the molecules move from the higher concentration to the lower concentration. Electrostatic pressure work as simple as a magnetic effect, which is characterized by the opposite attraction of. Sodium Potassium pump is an active mechanism and need energy (by food etc.) to work. In this case, 3 Na+ ions are excluded to the outside of the cell and 2 K+ ions brought into to the cell. This energy supply occurs through food we eat and they break ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) to ADP (Adenosine Diphosphate). In action potential, only axon depolarization occurs, not to ... • 10. Global Warming And Global Climate Change Global warming and global climate change has been a consistent news headline and global topic for the past two decades. From a political standpoint, there has been great debate as to whether or not humans are completely to blame, partially to blame, or to blame at all for the changes we are seeing in the Earth s climate. However, from a scientific perspective, this is not the case. From the Kyoto Protocol, to dummy downed explanation like in Al Gore s An Inconvenient Truth , to NASA s comprehensive monitoring of the Earth s vital signs , the idea that the human race has had a gigantic and irreversible effect on the global climate is the consensus among the scientific community. According to one major study, ninety seven percent of climate scientists those who solely focus on studying the earth s climate agree that the changes we are seeing are very likely caused by human activity ( very likely being with at least 95% certainty). (W.R.L. Anderegg) Unfortunately, scientific evidence does not always correlate with proactive measures in society. Taking the United State s government and society as a case study, large scale projects or changes tend to be reactionary with contemporary issues. While frustrating, this fact can be somewhat understandable for a few major issues like military force or foreign economic aid (due prudence for the best course of action). • 11. Advantages Of Reflexive Standardization Of The Information... According to Ole Hanseth et al (2010), reflexive standardization is the process of supporting efforts to bring about order and organization in a function, and instead of achieving positive results, negative results are achieved. Reflexive standardization brings about negative results as a result of failing to be planned adequately from the onset. For instance, take for example the Norwegian hospital; the development of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) was developed as a fragmented record of databases. The records brought about challenges in the manner in which they were accessed and as a result, there was need to redesign the system. Instead of setting aside a development team to redesign the system based on thorough research, the hospital decided to centralize the database and create several views for different system users to view these records. This was deemed to be the reflexive standardization of the information system. It had both advantages and disadvantages as discussed. Necessity and Advantages The proverbial elephant in the room was the scattering of records and the need to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 12. Benjamin Lev s Struggle With Their Ultra Orthodox... Critical Lens Hypothesis: Asher Lev s struggle to reconcile his gift with his ultra orthodox religious beliefs can be explained in Freudian terms. The human psyche is an incredibly complex system. It controls us in every aspect of our lives, rewarding us for a job well done while also making us feel guilty for each mistake we make. Our psyche is influenced by the world in which we live, by our immediate family and friends and also by those who we will meet during our lives. Each and every stage of life will result in us experiencing more, and in doing so, those experiences will shape who we will become. Our psyche is made up of three very important parts: the id, the ego, and the superego. The id is the primitive and instinctive component of personality. It consists of all the biological components of personality, including the life instinct and the death instinct. The id is the only part of our psyche which is present from birth. It is concerned only with the immediate satisfaction of our needs and has no respect for the consequences or impact on other people. The ego is the part which attempts to reconcile our id s irrational tendencies with the realities of the world. The ego is tasked with working out realistic ways of satisfying the id s demands, often postponing satisfaction to avoid negative consequences of society. The superego s function is to control the id s impulses, especially those which society forbids and to reward us when we do good (ideal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Cyber Bullying Persuasive Essay Inspirational speaker, writer, and community leader Anna Maria Chávez once said Cyber Bullies can hide behind a mask of anonymity online, and do not need direct physical access to their victims to do unimaginable harm. Cyberbullying is negatively taking over technology and adults aren t aware of the potential dangers it has on their children. To start, children and teens do not talk to their parents about the acts of cyberbullying that occur on their technology. Over half of young teens do not tell their parents when cyberbullying occurs. (Webstar, 2017) This is a big problem. This means that children are hurting, the result of cyberbullying, and they are afraid to talk to their parents, or any adult for that matter. They are keeping their emotions bottled up inside them, and parents have no idea this is happening. In fact, only 1 in 10 teens tell an adult if they have been a cyberbully victim. (Webstar, 2017) These numbers should not be the effect of cyberbullying. Children have to seek help from adults and stop the cyber bullies hiding behind their screen. Might I add, it should not be all on the children s shoulders. They are the victim, and they should stand up for themselves, but why should it be all on them? Parents have to be on the lookout for cyber bullying these days. Only 32% of parents actually monitor their children s social networking activities, while 28% admitted they only occasionally, rarely or never monitor activity. (Anderson, 2016) This 28% of ... The Future Prospects Of Norway In order to discuss the future prospects of Norway for the coming years, it is interesting and useful to review the performance of the country in the past to identify possible trends. At the end of 2013, Norway was calculated as having the second highest GDP in the world (only under Luxembourg), as it was 65,515 US dollars per capita. The following graph (Chart 1 see appendix) shows the growth in Norway s GDP from 1970. Here, we can see the effect of the recession in 2008, and how it reflected on the downfall of the GDP s value. Only until 2010 is where we see the value become even with the pre crisis number. Yet, according to Figure 1 (below), the index shows that it has not yet reached the value that it would have, following the trend prior to 2008. Figure 1. Norway s Gross Domestic Product. The graphic shows the growth of GDP for Norway in red, Luxemburg in black and the rest of the OECD countries in grey. Source: OECD, 2014 Apart from GDP, there are also other indicators that can give us an impression of the economic performance of Norway in the past years. For instance, in 2013 the long term unemployment rate was 9.3% and the overall trend suggests it may continue to go down (Appendix 1, Chart 1). • 17. Midwifery Care Shortage Essay Introduction There is a predicted midwifery workforce shortage (The Department of Health, 2013). To address this, the Australian Government has been implementing measures to support midwives to work to their full scope of practice including increasing midwifery care in community settings (Department of Health and Ageing, 2010). This research proposal aims to understand and interpret metropolitan hospital based lived experience of providing extramural midwifery care after hospital based midwifery experience. From this understanding any issues that impact negatively on midwives may be identified and the risk mitigated. Contextual review The majority of maternity care is provided within a hospital setting and within a medical model (Owens, et al., 2016). The Australian Government policy is to increase women s access to midwifery care within their local community (Department of Health and Ageing, 2010) however the majority of publically employed metropolitan midwives are siloed into discrete areas of practice (antenatal, birthing, postnatal care and home visiting). Providing care outside of a hospital setting is new to many metropolitan Australian midwives. • 21. Saturation And Synthesis Essay Discussion When the degree of saturation Ω is equal to one, the system is at equilibrium. When Ω is greater than one, precipitation should occur because the solution is saturated in ions with respect to the solid mineral form. The data show that gypsum should have started precipitating between sample 1 and sample 2 collection time, because this is when the degree of saturation moves to beyond 1. The peak saturation for gypsum occurs between sample 3 and sample 4, and decreases afterwards. This decrease is most likely caused by the decrease in available ions after gypsum continued to precipitate through the experiment, leaving fewer calcium and sulfate ions to contribute to the degree of saturation. As evaporation continues, halite approaches ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although calculated degrees of saturation for halite did not exceed 1, the sudden decrease in sodium and chloride ions in solutions indicate that precipitation most likely occurred, and then exhausted the ions to the point where the solution was no longer saturated. Because the precipitate was not analyzed, whether or not halite did precipitate out is not known. The order of precipitation recorded in the experiment agrees with Usiglio s original ... There are many health risks associated with the additives in products. Most Americans are unaware of the risks that are linked with the additives in commonly purchased products. My daughter was one year old when I realized she was allergic to artificial coloring. One morning we woke up and I made us a toasty bagel. I topped the warm crunchy bagel with light pink, strawberry, cream cheese. We enjoyed our bagel as we watched Sunday morning cartoons. Suddenly I noticed her face was as red as a cherry. In a panic I took her to the bathroom to check for other symptoms. She was red from head to toe with red raised bumps all over. I immediately called the doctor, who advised me to take her to the emergency room. After the doctor examined her she told us it was a food allergy. I realized she broke out after eating food that contained artificial coloring. Once I started to look at labels, to avoid buying harmful products, I realized almost everything contained added coloring. Many manufactures over use artificial coloring in the United States, which can lead to serious health problems. Review Of The Defense Of Cover Songs Don Cusic argues in his article, In Defense of Cover Songs, that cover artists should be awarded the same legitimacy as songwriters, while critics believe otherwise, saying that singers should write their own music. Cusic believes that being a cover artist does not take away any credibility from he or she as an artist. Cover songs have existed for just as long as original music and they prove to be an outlet for singers who are not able to write their own songs. Then, Cusic asserts that a cover song is a history lesson for a new audience that has never heard the original song. These new songs and hits are able to generate new revenue from their sales and they also generate a new market for cover artists. Cover songs are also beneficial because listeners enjoy hearing a new artist perform familiar music to get them acquainted with that artist. Cusic also goes on to explain how buyers may feel cheated when they buy an entire album, buy they only enjoy the hit single. He then states that just because an artist has added is or her own written songs on an album, it does not mean that those songs will be his or her strongest. Cusic now informs the reader that there have been songwriters who write songs specifically for other artists to sing. There have even been artists who have accepted their talents as a singer and not a songwriter, not feeling the need to be a co writer on their albums. He then moves on to say that if an artist is caught in a time warp, he or she should find great recordings to cover. Doing so does not make he or she any less of an artist. The Health And Funding Of Health Services Essay Executive summary Healthcare IT infrastructure varies widely in developed countries, as indeed does the organisation and funding of health services. This report provides a synopsis of the position in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, Poland and the USA. We also have brief notes on EU level activities. Overall, developing countries have populations that are ageing and becoming more demanding. This, coupled with technological progress, pushes up operational costs faster than the general growth in prices or even incomes. The resulting cost control pressures are one of the main drivers of IT expenditure. Improving service is also important but is generally secondary. Thanks to the National Programme for IT (NPfIT) in England , the UK spends more money on health IT than any other country in Europe, with €2.4bn of the EU s total of €8bn; France and Germany tag along next at about €1.2bn each. US expenditure is significantly larger even on the most conservative estimate, Americans spend at least half as much again as Europeans. When we look at expenditure per capita, a different picture emerges. The high spending countries are Sweden (€62), the USA (€53) and the UK (€43); next is the Netherlands on €31, then France and Germany with €19 and €17 respectively, while countries that have barely started to modernise their health services (such as Italy and Poland) spend about €10 per person. Not all of the mechanisms that cause one to become addicted to alcohol have been clarified. However, there seem to be two main reasons for alcohol addiction. This manifests itself as increased tolerance to the effects of alcohol, since more of the drug is required to achieve the same depressant and intoxicating effect.4 Because of the damage to the function of the GABA inhibitory system, the CNS tends toward hyperexcitability, resulting in the anxiety, tremors, disorientation, and hallucinations associated with alcohol withdrawal. Chronic exposure to alcohol may also increase the sensitivity of glutamate receptors, and since glutamate is an excitatory neurotransmitter this would contribute further to CNS hyperexcitability.5 Alcohol also seems to affect the binding properties of receptors for opioid peptides, as well as the synthesis of these peptides. Specifically, alcohol may stimulate the release of lt;beta endorphins, neurotransmitters held responsible for euphoria and anesthesia, accounting for some of the intoxicating effects of alcohol.6 The experimental observation that the administration of opioid blockers reduces craving for alcohol has led to FDA approval of naltrexone, a drug that interferes with the function of opioid receptors, as a treatment for alcoholism.7 Thus, alcohol can cause physical addiction directly through its effects on many receptor sites in the postsynaptic membranes of neurons.
