10. Revisiting Philippine Professional
Standards for Teachers
Domain 1. Content Knowledge and Pedagogy
Strand 1: Content knowledge and its application
within and across curriculum areas
Strand 4: Strategies for promoting literacy and
numeracy
Strand 5: Strategies for developing critical and
creative thinking, as well as other higher-order
thinking skills
11. How do you design a
learning process using
available models in the
workplace ?
17. Using the 5G model in
classroom:
• Teachers can do less
discussion and content
instruction
• Learners are responsible for
their own learning
• Experiential-based learning
18. THE 5G MODEL
GANDA (BEAUTY)
• make sense of beauty by beginning
with experiences that keep learners
in awe

19. THE 5G MODEL
GALING (SKILL)
• explore a set of skills by sustaining
interest in finding patterns,
relationships, and outcomes,
individually or collaboratively

20. THE 5G MODEL
GAHUM (POWER)
• deepen interaction by maximizing
remote collaboration capabilities of
technology platforms

21. THE 5G MODEL
GILIW (AFFECTION)
• demonstrate empathy by enabling
learners to document and share their
problem-solving experiences

22. THE 5G MODEL
GUGMA (LOVE)
• induce collective wellbeing by
incorporating in routines and
schedules for wellness check-ins

23. Let’s summarize the model:
GANDA: What experience yields learners in awe?
GALING: How can it be maximized for engagement?
GAHUM: How will it empower learners to learn
more?
GILIW: How will it endear learners with
significant others?
24. Can we use the 5G
model in the face to
face classes?
26. Day 1: (GANDA)Identify polygons through picture
analysis.
(GALING) School site investigation where polygons
can be found.
Day 2: (GAHUM) Leaners need to accomplish a chart about
classifying polygons.
Day 3: (GILIW) Make a house plan using the properties of
polygons.
Day 4: (GUGMA) Create a video that clearly states the
importance of polygons in human endeavors.
Day 5: Assessment/Remedial
29. Day 1:
GALING
Allow learners to
investigate the school
premises. Using a
provided worksheet,
identify things that
shows various shape and
take a picture of these
30. Day 2: GAHUM
Group the class. Given a
chart, classify the
shapes as polygons or
non-polygons. Make a
generalization out of
your answers.
Polygon Non-polygon
31. Day 3:
GILIW
With a pair, design a
house structure using the
concept of polygon and it
should be responsive to
any form of disaster or
calamities.
32. Day 4: GUGMA
State your personal reasons
why polygons are important to
various aspects of life (i.e.
transportation, carpentry,
architecture, etc.) and how
does it affect human
conditions?

The main purpose of education is to provide the opportunity for acquiring knowledge and skills that will enable people to develop their full potential, and become successful members of society.
Teachers should not always do the talking. We need to guide them to be the best version of themselves. And one of the key elements to realize this is to properly design learning experiences that enables one to reach its full potential.
No f2f classes
No physical contact
Lives and business suffered, especially in education
Shocked with new learning modalities (modular, online, etc.)
Hybrid Flexible (HyFlex) Learning is a teaching method that combines elements of hybrid and blended learning into a flexible course framework that allows students to attend classroom sessions, participate online, or do both. (tulad ngayon ung transportation strike…nag oonline then after balik sa f2f) and to certain phenomena like bagyo, ung teacher cant be able to attend physical classroom, etc.
Hybrid learning refers to learning that integrates complementary face-to-face (synchronous) and online learning (asynchronous) experiences in service of intended learning objectives. All students in a hybrid course are expected to undergo the same combination of online and in-person activities. In contrast, the “flexible” aspect of HyFlex is that students are given choice in how they participate in the course and engage with material in the mode that works best for them over the course and from session to session.
Hindi lang ung narinig, naalala pero nagagamit nila sa buhay nila ang mga lessons kaya naman ito ay indicator ng learning. Learners are not programmable objects. Sila mismo ang gumagawa ng ways and means para matuto sila with the guidance of the teacher. Because its our innate role as teachers to let this leaners learn.
And what are the possible ways to realize this and make it real? One of which is lesson planning.
(next slide)
The 5E model is a planning tool for inquiry teaching that provides a structure for students to connect science ideas with their experiences and apply their learning to new contexts. The 5E model comprises five phases that help teachers build a sequence of coherent and engaging learning experiences for students.
I. Activity – This will bring understanding to what the learners already know and clarity to what learners should learn further. At this early stage, the student should already have a retrospect of what they will be learning through the activity that will be presented.
II. Analysis – A more in-depth understanding of the lesson, it is another phase where the students will process and classify what is valid and not. The teacher on this part will ask further questions and will also lead as a facilitator rather than mere lecturing and sharing facts and ideas. The students know gains a wider view of the lesson but at the same time draws closer to the main topic.
III. Abstraction – The teacher on this part will now focus entirely on the lesson being presented and ask more lead questions to lead the students in reinforcing what they know and should know more. The student here starts to feel more the importance of the lesson to her and see the necessity of it to his/her life.
IV. Application – The word itself describes the stage as bringing the student to a more practical way of using HOW are they going to use what they have learned and thinking of new ways on how it can be improve further.
Note lang na need ba ipasok lahat sa isag araw? No.
This G of the model encourages teachers to find ways how to
Naman. Kaya nga this model is designed for teachers to make them as facilitators of learning/activity at less ang talking or delivery of the content through discussions. Para nde na sya matawag na traditional.
These activities are designed to make teachers be aware na ifafacilitate nalang natin ang activities. Sabi nga ni sir Cil Gie ng Lunduyan, the activities are powered by experiences. Less content.
