History Of Prague Spring
Prague Spring, 1968
The Prague Spring is referred to when the Warsaw Pact allies invaded Czechoslovakia in 1968. In
1948, communism was the only political party in Czechoslovakia. The communist take over was a
very popular movement. One reason why it was such a popular movement is because Joseph Stalin
signed an agreement with Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt that stated that, the Red Army,
which would then lead to pro communism, would liberate Czechoslovakia. The second reason why
this was such a popular movement is because the people of Czechoslovakia remembered what
happened with the Munich Agreement, where most of Czechoslovakia was surrendered to Nazi
Germany in 1938.
By the early 1950s, Czechoslovakia was a Soviet style dictatorship and a loyal ally of the Soviet
Union (Goldman 123). Antonin Novoty was appointed the head of Czechoslovakia in 1952 by Joseph
Stalin. Novoty was not well liked by the Communist Party. He refused to make changes to the political
system, thinking that it would improve the Soviet s political influence in Czechoslovakia. In 1967,
many very popular writers rebelled against him. It made it more difficult for Novoty to establish
policies. The Communist Party then asked him to resign in January 1968.
The post of the first Secretary of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia was given to a man named
Alexander Dubcek. Dubcek was a dedicated Communist, but was wary of the Soviet policies. He had
met many people who came from Stalin s

The Presidential Policy Directive Regarding The...
The Presidential Policy Directive regarding the organization of the National Security
Council System replaces all previous National Security Presidential Directives. This change allows
President Obama to shape the National Security Council to his liking, allowing for a more conducive
meeting structure for the designated attendees and chairs. The Presidential Policy Directive 1 seeks to
make the interagency aspect of the NSC more strategic, agile, transparent and predictable. The
Presidential Policy Directive 1 expanded the membership of the National Security
Council to include the Secretary of the Treasury, the Attorney General, Secretary of Homeland
Security, US Ambassador to the United Nations, the Chief of Staff, and the ... Show more content on

6) What DNI organization serves as the IC s center for long term strategic analysis? What are the most
authoritative reports by which the DNI conveys to senior national security leaders the judgments of
the IC on strategic national security issues called?
The National Intelligence Council is the main body for mid and long term strategic thinking and
analytical reporting. The most authoritative written assessment is the NIC Global Trends report
written every four years and briefed to the incoming president between election day and the
inauguration. This report often prepares the president for what the intelligence community believes to
the upcoming global issues his presidency will have to content with and provides a analytical
speculation of future trends beyond the presidential term. To write an analytical product every four
years is problematic when intelligence is fleeting and importance is constantly shifting. Considering
the fact that the President receives the Presidential Daily Brief (PDB) on a daily basis, a more realistic
approach for the NIC is to produce a report biennially. The NIC can express its strategic analytical
concerns with the mid and long term twice within a

With increase in age, there is gradual loss of elasticity in almost all the muscles of the body including
muscles of eyes. This reduction in elasticity of the eye muscles lead to inability of the person to focus
on an object kept at a distance. This condition gets worse in the situation of dim light or excess light.

from night blindness do not show any increased risk with age. In fact, there are chances that night

The Differences in Josephine and Mrs. Mallard of Kate Chopin s The Story of an Hour
Free! Body and soul free! , Mrs. Mallard kept whispering. One person s ultimate freedom may be seen
as a tragedy to another. Kate Chopin illustrates this idea in The Story of an Hour. The story is set in
the nineteenth century. Chopin uses the death of Mr. Mallard to show the reader Mrs. Mallard s deep
feelings. In the story, Josephine and Mrs. Mallard are sisters. Although the women come from the
same background, live in the same city, and outwardly appear to be satisfied with their lives, their
attitudes are very different. Chopin uses these two women as foil characters in the story. The
differences in the women are seen in their reactions to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mallard lets the reader know she feels imprisoned by her life as Mrs. Mallard, Mr. Mallard s wife.
Mrs. Mallard feels stifled and bound by her limited opportunities. Josephine and Mrs. Mallard may be
sisters, but they have very different outlooks on a woman s role in society.
The differences in Josephine and Mrs. Mallard are evident in their reactions to the news of Mr.
Mallard s death. Josephine cannot find a ray of hope in Mr. Mallard s death. She is overwhelmed with
sadness. She is very careful how she tells Mrs. Mallard of her husband s death. Josephine uses broken
sentences and veiled hints when telling Mrs. Mallard of Mr. Mallard s death. Josephine knows that
Mrs. Mallard depends on her husband for everything. However, Mrs. Mallard s reaction to the news is
very different. Mrs. Mallard loves her husband. She is saddened by the news, but she is able to see
into the future. She is able to see a future with color and brightness. Mrs. Mallard feels set free from
bondage. She no longer sees a world of restrictions but a world of opportunity and adventure. Her
husband s death brings revival to her soul. Chopin says, Mrs. Mallard is drinking in a very elixir of
life through that open window. The news of Mr. Mallard s death is tragic but brings very different
reactions from Josephine and Mrs. Mallard.
At the end of the story, when Mr. Mallard enters his house, Josephine and Mrs. Mallard respond very
distinctly. Josephine

Three Major Supreme Court Cases
The United States Supreme Court has heard many cases since it was established in 1788, but there
were three major cases that were most prominent in my view. Though every Supreme Court case
played a major role in history, the most prominent three were Palko vs. Connecticut, Brown vs. Board
of Education, and Miranda vs. Arizona. These three cases established some major things that we use
within the government to this day, and with that, these cases play a prominent role in United States
history.
The first major case, Palko vs. Connecticut, was heard by the Supreme Court in 1937 and involved
Frank Palko, a man whom was charged with second degree murder in the state of Connecticut. When
it was heard by the state of Connecticut, his conviction was appealed to seek higher degree conviction.
The state s local statute allowed the state to appeal criminal conviction, along with the defendant
himself. Setting aside the second degree murder conviction, the courts retried and convicted him of
first degree murder. After Palko s conviction, he brought an action to claim that the procedural statute
was unconstitutional because he claimed that it violated his 5th amendment guarantee against double
jeopardy. Palko fought for protection against double jeopardy to be a fundamental right, but his effort
for this fundamental right failed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

segregation is a violation of the Constitution s Equal Protection Clause because the schools were not

Descriptive Essay On Coming To School
And The forecast today will be bright and sunny! My mother turned off the television and told be to
get my backpack, for it was time to head to school. It was a new school year, and just starting the sixth
grade. I was new to the district last year, so I have only made a handful of friends . My mom sends me
off to the bus, and I look up at the sky. It was dark and cloudy, it seemed as if it would rain. I sighed,
and I get onto the morning bus. I walked into the building i ve managed to become so familiar with
during the last school year. Heading into the sixth grade wing, I find my locker, and open it with ease.
The girl next to me didn t have the same luck. I snicker at her struggle, then I offer some help. She
more than willingly handed me her locker combination, and I open her locker for her. She thanks me
and I headed into my class. I look around, the buzzing of voices swirled in my head. My eyes dart to
the door just in time to see the girl I helped earlier walk into the room. I smile and she smiles back,
then proceeds to go sit by her small group of friends. Over the next couple of days, we talk and get to
know each other. Later I find out her name is Lillian. I let her copy my work, she introduces me to her
friends, then they also copy my work. I began to make a lot of new friends, and that made me love
school even more. It went smoothly until I started to get pulled out everyday. The only downfall of

The Types Of Insurance Commercials
You need insurance If you haven t seen an All State or State Farm commercial you probably should
crawl out from the rock you are hidden under or you just do not watch television in general. These
companies spend millions of dollars on advertising and are on every channel. They are required to do
this because this is a very competitive market. The types of insurance commercials seen on television
have a vast range of genres. But, they all have one thing in common. Companies promote services or
products to the audience that convey its services are the best and most professional available at this
current time. The advertisements are relatively short and speak to immense types of audiences. Each
marketing communication covers a wide range of people from 18 year old teenage boys to even 80
year old women. The audiences of the commercials that I have chosen come in all different shapes and
sizes. The scale goes from your car hitting a stationary object to even an object hitting your stationary
car, we got it covered! The goal is to highlight a company s qualities in an effort to generate a likely
hood for individuals to consume their products or services. Although, car accidents and other
problems are devastating, insurance companies put a humorous spin on the commercial to show they
are willing to help you with it, in the most professional manner, no matter what. Insurance companies
understand that human beings make mistakes and try to personalize each experience in an effort to

In October, Richard McGinn, its chairman and CEO, was replaced by former CEO Henry Schacht.
Exhibit 2 shows key news events for Lucent during 2000. Lucent attributed the revenue revisions
affecting fiscal 2000 (its fiscal year ended on September 30) to a variety of factors. The initial $125
million adjustment was due to misleading documentation and incomplete communications between a
sales team and the financial organization with respect to offering a customer credits in connection with
a software license. 1 The company stated that the recorded sale did not meet its revenue recognition
rules. As a result, one employee was fired, and disciplinary action was taken against several others. In
subsequent revisions announced on December 22, Lucent took back $452 million in equipment that
had been sold to systems integrators and distributors but not been passed on to customers because of
their weakened financial condition. Lucent noted that in verbal agreements it had agreed to take back
the equipment, and it resolved to fulfill this commitment to preserve customer relationships. Also, the
company discovered that sales teams had verbally offered credits to customers for use at a later date to
help secure fourth quarter sales. It decided to reflect the credits as expenses in the fourth quarter,
reducing revenues by $74 million. Finally, revenue had been

Reza Shah paid a visit to Ankara to benefit from Ataturk s experience.
The intentions of Reza Shah were the same as Ataturk s intentions in turkey; he was working on
paralyzing the role of Islam in the society and on banning the hijab among other things. Reza shah
then forbade the Imam Hussain consolation gatherings. After he banned clerics from wearing turbans
in 1935 and forced them to wear western style clothing, in 1936, he officially banned hijab and later
on stopped working by the Islamic calendar. He also gave his official orders to stop condolences
rituals in Ashura (10th day of the holy month of Muharram) and banned Friday prayers speeches and
banned religious teachings at schools. For her part, Reza Shahs wife entered the Maisuma mosque in
Qom without wearing the hijab, and when the mosques servant asked her to put on clothes that are
suitable with her entry to the mosque, he was brutally beaten by her bodyguards. Among all things,
Shah Reza was preparing his son Mohammed Reza to assume power after him. So for that reason, his
son studied at the military school in Iran and then continued his education in Austria. After he
returned, he started to deal with politics under the supervision of his father who was always supporting

However, I may have not used all the skills necessary to draw out the client s feelings and meaning in
a therapeutic way (Ivey Ivey, 2007). I used open ended and closed questions to gather more in depth
information from the client. For example, What are your expectations? and Would you be satisfied
with your grades if your parents do not pressure you? I also used encouragers such as head nods and
repetition of key words stated by the client. I also summarized her story several times to clarify with
the client that I was hearing her correctly. I felt that she was motivated to elaborate (Ivey Ivey, 2007,
pg 231). I also used some observation skills such as observing the client s verbal and non verbal
behaviours, e.g. her voice tone, eye contact and the way she was sitting at certain point in the session.
While I listened to the tape, I realized that I had empathized and reflected on the client s feelings a few
times and this was done later in the interview. Not reflecting empathy earlier led the client to think that
I did not understand her situation. Also, I imposed my values on the client by telling her that eighty
percent is good even though she clearly stated that it is really bad for her. I thought this would have
made her feel better but it did not. If I were to meet this client again for the same issue I would reflect
empathy by saying the following: Getting good grades means a lot to you. I can see

Concussions Or Mild Traumatic Brain Injuries
Concussions or mild traumatic brain injuries (MTBI) are the most common forms of traumatic brain
injury. There are between 1.6 and 3.8 million concussions a year that occur due to sports and
recreation accidents alone (CDC). Mild concussions and MTBIs were once thought to be insignificant
in terms of consequences. However, there now is significant evidence that neurological even with
what is thought to be a mild injury, physiological, and cognitive changes can occur. Individuals
sustaining mild brain injuries often report an assortment of physical, cognitive, and
emotional/behavioral symptoms referred to as post concussion syndrome (PCS). There are many
symptoms associated with PCS, but these symptoms are often mistaken as behavior, mood, and/or
adjustment disorders.
A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury (TBI) that results from a bump, blow, or jolt to the
head or body that causes the head to move quickly. The sudden movement can cause the brain to move
in the skull. This movement can result in stretching and damaging the brain cells and create chemical
changes in the brain. A young brain may more susceptible to the chemical changes that occur in the
brain after a concussion. These changes may lead symptoms that affect their cognitive, physical,
emotional, and sleep functions. While concussions affect people differently, most people will have
symptoms that last for a few days to a week. More serious concussions may last for weeks, months or
even longer. (Davies,

Politics As A Method Of Resolving Conflict Essay
It is important to consider that politics is a contested concept with numerous differing views and
perspectives presented to us. These different perspectives can offer similar perspectives on the concept
of politics and what it means; whilst other times the views are strongly contrasting creating debate on
the subject. The main examples of the differing views of politics are as follows: Politics as the art of
government; which is the more traditional view of politics. Politics as public affairs; a view which
focuses on public institutions rather than civil society. Politics as compromise and consensus; a view
which sees politics as a method of resolving conflict. The final view of politics is the view that politics
is power; this more cynical view of politics focuses more on the idea of power within the state. This
essay will serve to set out these definitions; compare and contrast them with one another to hopefully
ascertain a detailed idea of the concept of politics.
To begin we should examine what is commonly seen as the traditional view of politics: politics as the
art of government. This point of view suggests that the study of politics is solely the study of
government, the administrative arm of the state, more specifically the legislature and executive
branches with a lesser focus on the judiciary wing. Government can be seen in the following way: ...
institutions responsible for making collective decisions for society. More narrowly, government refers

Themes In A Visit From The Goon Squad
It is said that a man can never walk into the same river twice, not because the river is changing that
after all is inevitable but because the man will never be the same man as he once was. Time, like a
river flows in a set direction and once past no amount of nostalgia is capable of reversing its course.
Just as it is impossible to reverse the passage of time, it is impossible to retain a past identity. Jennifer
Egan s novel, a Visit from the Goon Squad, is a collection of short stories that each have a distinct
voice and style. Although each chapter can stand alone, they are bound together by thematic elements
and a complex web of relationships centered around Bennie Salazar a music executive and his
assistant Sasha. In this passage Egan s fifth narrator, Jocelyn, a recovering drug addict and a childhood
friend of Bennie Salazar, returns to the Los Angeles home of her teenage love interest, Lou,a man old
enough to be her father who drove her into adapting the sex, drugs and rock and roll lifestyle. With
Lou on his deathbed, the now forty three year old Jocelyn reunites with Rhea, another high school
friend, and ponders the impact that time has had on their lives. This passage suggests the
destructiveness of time on characters and relationships. Using setting, word choice, and
personification Egan presents time as truly being a goon.
To start, Egan employs setting to reveal the separation time has created between characters and the
characters and their former

The Sunflower By Simon Wiesenthal Essay
Vince Lombardi, an American football player, and a coach, once said, Leaders aren t born, they are
made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work. With these words, Lombardi
highlights that people are nurtured to become a leader and a follower. For instance, Lombardi asserts
that a person is trained, whether to be a leader, or a follower, through eagerness and determination.
The book, The Sunflower, written by Simon Wiesenthal, an author and a Jewish holocaust survivor,
who focuses on one of the most controversial topics during and after World War II, forgiveness. In this
book, Weisenthal talked about a questionable case in which Karl, an SS soldier who murdered
plentiful of people, asked Weisenthal for forgiveness for all the pain he had done towards all the
people that were affected by him. When it comes to the topic of whether people are born to become
leaders or followers or is one trained by the environment, most people will readily agree that people
are conditioned to become a leader or a follower, where this agreement usually ends, however, is on
the question of, What makes a person a leader? Whereas some are convinced that people are natural
born leaders. Becoming a leader consists with a few reasons such as developed leadership skills, the
bystander apathy, and the diffusion of responsibility.

in a language. It is the study of the inter relationship between elements of sentence structure, and of
the rules governing the arrangement of sentences in sequences. It is concerned with the way sentences
are used by the author. If we concentrate on the structure and ordering of components within a
sentence, we are studying what is technically know as the syntax of a language. It is the sequence or
the ordering arrangement of elements which helps the writer to convey his intended meaning. The
syntax tries to find out whether the sentences are simple, compound or complex, whether the
structures are basic or derived, what their frequency is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

At times the noun phrase is reduced to a simple monosyllable and sometimes there is a lot of
complexity both horizontal and vertical. The use of much premodification indicates that the
things/events are happening right in front of the narrator, who constantly compares the occurring
events to the other things to make the communication more interesting and familiar.
Attributive adjectives, noun modifiers, compound word modifiers and relative clauses are used for
various situations. Generally, a higher density of the above is not common in speech/conversation, but
certain characters do use them even while speaking, which shows the Indian English users inclination
towards bookish English.
The following example presents a series of modification, which is quite suggestive of Balram s

Sage 50 Accounting
QuickBooks and Sage 50 Accounting are both great options for small business accounting. These
programs help manage business finances which can drastically save time that may have been spent
creating Excel spreadsheets and more. However, while both programs are sufficient for small
businesses, the programs differ based on what they can offer your company. Many users claim that
Sage 50 Accounting has a more complex interface than QuickBooks Accounting has. Each of the

If change is forced on people normally problems occur. Change must be realistic, achievable and
measurable, so as managing director it is extremely important to understand how to engage
employees, and lead the business, in working around this change (TFG 2014). Change management
enables employees to adopt a change so that business objectives and outcomes can be achieved.
Whenever there is some sort of organizational change employees can experience varied levels of
discomfort. As managing director leading change requires juggling a number of psychological factors,
such as how employees think, how they perceive their current situation, how they will perceive a new
change (Price and Lawson 2008). To ensure the success of any change initiative, manager s efforts
should go first towards considering how your employees will perceive the change and approaching
this in the best way. Planning, leading organizing, negotiating and controlling are four management
functions that can be used and implemented to keep employees motivated towards company goals and
reassured about the businesses direction in a time of change.
Organizations are continually faced with a changing environment, therefore a need for a shift in
strategic direction, must be implemented. The successes of major organizational change initiatives are
almost always dependent on the incorporation of its workers and employees to help implement these
changes.

Chicago World s Fair History
The World s Fairs have all contributed to this country and the world, but three specific Fairs in
Chicago, St. Louis, and New York have greatly influenced society today. Chicago hosted one of the
most popular World s Fairs in 1893, which celebrated the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus
coming to America. People came from all over to enjoy the Fair despite the slight damage the Great
Fire caused Chicago. When 1904 rolled around, St.Louis enthusiastically accepted the invitation to
host the World s Fair and the Olympics of 1904. Many new entertainment methods and specific plays
and musicals came out of this Fair, including the film and musical, Meet Me in St. Louis. In 1964, the

It took up 286 acres in Jackson Park and celebrated the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus
arrival in America. The Chicago World s Fair, also known as the World s Columbian Exposition,
started near the beginning of the Gilded Age, heading out of the Reconstruction Era. There were plans
to make this Fair one of a kind, to be remembered for centuries to come, but its leaders often looked to
earlier Fairs for inspiration. One of these was the 1889 World s Fair in Paris, which gave Chicago the
idea of creating the Midway Plaisance. Midway was a part of the Fair that provided visitors with fun
and educational world history lessons on developing countries and how far humanity has
come(www.encyclopedia.chicagohistory.org). The racism and sexism specifically at the Chicago
World s Fair was very significant. There were days set aside for only white people and far less days
for black people; women could not put their exhibits in the same buildings as the men s exhibits.
Multiple tragedies marked the end of the fair. A smallpox epidemic that originated at the fair in
midsummer spread throughout the city by early autumn. Then, just before the gala closing ceremonies
were to be held, Mayor Carter Harrison was assassinated. Finally, shortly after the fair s close, a fire
swept through the fairgrounds, destroying many of the buildings
(www.encyclopedia.chicagohistory.org). On October 31, 1893, the Chicago World s Fair came to a

Band 6 Episode 7
It is well known that entertainment texts have a natural tie to health topics, which is evidenced by the
90+ medical drama television series. One example of an entertainment text is through the script of
ABCs hit television series, Grey s Anatomy. While the whole series of Grey s Anatomy bears great
relation to health communication study, a more discrete version of the script is seen within particular
episode entitled Give Peace a Chance, Season 6 Episode 7, which can be directly related to health
communications and narrative paradigm. This specific episodes plot and script focuses on one of the
medical professionals becoming the patient and, in turn, observing how he takes on the patient role
and how the other health care professionals balance between their roles as health care providers and
friends. In this episode, Isaac, a well known and well liked hospital lab technologist, comes to Dr.
Derek Shepherd with a consult. Dr. Shepherd scanned over the scans given to him and states that the
diagnosis is a massive spinal cord tumor which had overtaken the spine and the blood supply and that
he would love to operate, but would have to cut the spinal cord to remove the tumor. Dr. Shepherd
then asked Isaac who the doctor on the case is, to which he replies You are. These are my scans and I
want you to remove my tumor. Throughout the episode, Isaac continues to encourage Derek to

Characteristics Of The Following Stereotypes
 What are the characteristics of the following stereotypes? o Aunt Jemima/Mammy Mammy
represented as a defense to slavery. She was born in ante bellum America and was portrayed as fat,
pitch black, and happily obedient to her master and mistress. Mammy was docile, loyal, and jovial,
and understood her value of society. She was considered the antithesis of white ladies, white ladies
being fragile and beautiful. She was also classified as sexual. In her own family, she was the leader, an

 Note the types and sheer volume of the arts/images revealed in this film. What might be the
cumulative effect of 150+ years of these images on Americans?
I noticed that the majority of the plethora of pictures shown in this video were that Blacks, women,
men, and even the children, were very dark, had eyes and lips bulging out, jovial and content with
slavery, and were usually portrayed eating watermelon. Americans seeing these pictures for 150+
years would eventually emit off the fact that most, if not all, Blacks looked like this and were content
of slavery. The pictures evoking off the savage like pictures would give off the fact that Blacks freed
from slavery would end up like this to humanity, acting all savagely to Whites. All of these caricatures
were far from the truth of the reality of how Blacks were; rather, they were drawn up by Whites who
manipulated the White society to believe that these caricatures were facts, which in reality, they were
not.

Gender Trouble By Judith Butler
INTRO
Judith Butler, the author of Gender Trouble (1990), is an American philosopher who was born in
Cleveland, Ohio, in 1956.
A feminist (that is, a participant in the cultural, political, and theoretical currents surrounding the
advocacy of the rights of women), she has published more than a dozen books and has been active in
debates ranging from lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transsexual rights to Middle Eastern politics. She
works on identity issues and prejudice against minorities, having personal experience of both. Her
mother lost her Hungarian family in the Nazi Holocaust during World War II, and, as a lesbian, Butler
has herself experienced discrimination. She has spoken about the difficulty of coming out as a
teenager and about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Butler intervened in these debates by questioning the very idea of stable gender identity.
THE ANSWER
No political revolution is possible without a radical shift in one s notion of the possible and the real.
Judith Butler, Gender Trouble: Feminism and the Subversion of Identity
Judith Butler argues that gender becomes ´real´ by a person unconsciously acting in ways that are
accepted to be masculine or feminine and that even biological sex is a product of culture.
Gender is imposed through patterns of thought in the society, but history shows that identities have
changed over time, then it is impossible to say that they are fixed and eternal.
Gender Trouble is an original and radical text that employs for political ends the analytical methods of
poststructuralist theory (and its challenge to categories and ideas of objective truth).
IDEAS
Because there is neither an essence that gender expresses or externalizes nor an objective ideal to
which gender aspires, and because gender is not a fact, the various acts of gender create the idea of
gender, and without those acts, there would be no gender at

that they re getting very close to understanding these bizarre particles.

This scientific advancement is the result of Fermilab s ongoing NOvA experiment, which hopes to
uncover the secrets of those elusive particles called neutrinos. The study released its final results
earlier this week. The experiment s gigantic particle detector is capable of detecting neutrinos fired
from an impressive 500 miles distance, but the scientists are having a hard time forming significant
conclusions from this recent success. It s incumbent for these quantum physicists to progress their
theories because to understand which neutrinos are heavier or lighter will help us construct theories

FERMILAB S EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE
In order to detect these far flung neutrinos, Fermilab s neutrino beam uses an underground detector
capable of measuring the neutrino composition of each shot. After being fired, the neutrinos oscillate
500 miles through the Earth s crust. When one of the neutrinos collides with one of the atoms in the
detector, a signature trail of particles and light is released which is used to identify the neutrino as an
electron, muon or tau. Most neutrinos shot out of Fermilab are composed of muons, but because of
this experimental method, scientists can actually infer how many are transform in transit from muon to
electron.

Civil Disobedience and the Bible Essay
Civil disobedience is a nonviolent opposition to a law through refusal to comply with it, on grounds of
conscience.
I understand why somebody might want to oppose the law. Somebody might have their own beliefs on
what is right and wrong and they wouldn t know when they re disobeying. But when you do know
what you re doing, if you don t obey a certain law set forth for you to follow, there most likely will be
some kind of consequence for not following the law. You could go to jail, be put on restraint, have
something taken away, etc. There are a number of other consequences that could be given to someone
for disobeying a law.

Current Trends Of Data Mining
Current Trends in Data Mining
Sardor Khodjaev
I. INTRODUCTION
Data itself is useless, until it is mined and transformed into a valuable source of knowledge discovery.
Due to its conversion into useful information, data mining has become the leading source being used
in many fields worldwide. Data mining is based on complex algorithms that allow for the
segmentation of data to identify patterns and trends, detect anomalies, and predict the probability of
various situational outcomes. [1] Many organizations from healthcare to multimedia and more are
relaying on data and getting developed through the use of it. Regardless of how, data warehouse
changed its rhythm and dimension in terms of measurements such as: variety, volume and velocity.
Today, one can see the current trends of data mining in different fields such as social networks,
healthcare and businesses. As data mining is giving the opportunity for those fields to get advanced,
Big Data is also opening up new doors within itself as the new trends emerge.
However, Big Data suggests something more than just an analysis of huge volumes of information.
The problem is not that the organizations create high volume of data, but the fact that most of them are
presented in a format consisting with traditionally poor structured form of database such as: a web
based magazines, images, videos, text documents, machine code and geospatial data . All of these are

The Theories Of The Typology Of Serial Killers
A serial killer is a person who commits a series of murders, often with no apparent motive and
typically following a characteristic or predictable behavior pattern. Theories on Serial Killers Holmes
and DeBurger (1998) specified the typology of serial killers and expressed this typology into four
distinct categories: Visionary killers are categorized as being out of touch with reality and are noted as
hearing voices in their head Mission oriented serial killers, state that their life s mission is to kill
certain kinds of people Hedonistic killers gain their thrills from the joy of the act and these are the
majority of serial killers Power/control killers seek more satisfaction through bloodlust and having
complete control over their victims (Walsh) Law enforcement and social scientists have often tried to
assess serial killers who have been caught in order to better understand their reasons for acting violent.
Since serial killers have a definitive personality profile. Some serial killers share the same behaviors
such as; wetting the bed and wanting to start fires. While these reasons are not associated with all
serial killers, there has been a tendency for these traits to be present in the majority of serial killers
that have been studies. Social science has discovered that about 90% of serial killers are Caucasian
males. These individuals are most times very smart. Serial killers usually come from dysfunctional
families, or have had one parent abandon them at an early age. Psychological analysis has reasoned
that this dysfunction or abandonment has caused many individuals to commit criminal acts. Female
Serial Killers Female serial killers have been discovered by going by significant data to killer for
money or pure excitement as opposed to their male counterparts who have other reasons for killing.
Poison is usually seen to be a common technique used by female serial killers. Female serial killers
also have been shown to have longer careers as murderers than males and they typically carefully plan
their crimes through a methodical process. Kelleher and Kelleher (1998) in a study on serial killers
selected seven different categories for women who kill: Black widow Angel of death Revenge killer

Technology As A Way Of Life And Express
The new generation of students entering and already enrolled in university are members of a digital
age growing up surrounded by many forms of digital technology as they are the first generation of
youth to have internet technology easily available at their disposal. This current generation have
already been labelled by sociologist as digital natives (Prensky 2001a) and the net generation
(Tapscott 1998) (Prensky 2001a; Tapscott 1998 as cited in Murphy 2010). Technology is not
something new to these students as its presence in their life have made them quite comfortable to the

As university professors are being presented with new types of students, there is a call to integrate
advanced technology into their course design, and ultimately, educators must lead the way and use the
technology in a fashion that positively aids their students: technology should be used with the needs of
the learners in mind and with the goal of improving student learning as the focus (Russo et al. 2014).
If this idea is implemented and acknowledged correctly, then many advantages can arise that enhance
student learning in university classrooms. The first benefit of instructors introducing advanced
technology into their teaching is that technology connects with students, which ultimately arouses
their interest because technology as a whole is a relevant and important part of student s lives. When
students are interested and engaged in the class material they become motivated to pay attention and
focus on what they are being taught, which leads to an improved retention rate of information. This
relates to the DVD that West, Pudsey and Dunk West created for teacher to give to their students to
work within their learning, and they found that it easily assimilates into their everyday life world
(2010). Another advantage is that the use of technology supports collaboration skills within students.

had secret meanings to them that an unknown viewer would not notice.
Crackdown on Homeless: This headline appeared the day after the presumed homeless man identified
himself as Truman s father. After he did this, random people took him away. The intent of the
newspaper was to convince Truman that the person he encountered was a homeless man and that

Asian American Population And Asian Americans
The Asian American population is a major facet of American life; beginning their lives as immigrants
they have worked their way to become integral members of society. In 2010 there were 14.7 million
Asian Americans living in the United States and in 2011 that number increased to 18.2 million.1
Culturally, Asian American people have traditions and beliefs that contradict those of the Western
world.2 Culture molds people s values, attitudes, and beliefs; influences their perceptions of self and
others; and determines the way they experience their environment. 10 As a result there are certain
barriers that exist when communicating with Asian Americans due to their cultural background.
Additionally, Asians living in America suffer from the Model Minority Myth, which typecasts these
people as being financially and educationally well off in comparison to other ethnic groups.2 Due to
this Asian Americans aren t considered more at risk for many health risks compared to other
ethnicities; cultural and physical barriers act as a hindrance to Asian Americans receiving healthcare
services, primarily mental health related services.
According to Spencer et al. Asian Americans often stigmatize mental health. As a result many
individuals forgo taking advantage of mental health services because it promotes cultural feelings of
shame or embarrassment.2 The article analyzed the connection between discrimination and the usage
of mental health services on a national sample of Asian Americans.

Global Future Of The United Kingdom
Global look in the next twenty five years
Introduction
Power in the global system is relative and always changing. Countries and regions fall and rise mainly
due to the unbalanced levels of economic growth, imperial overstretch and wars. Some global regions
develop more drastically compared to others due to domestic institutions, policies, effective political
leadership, technology and the ability to mobilize state resources that put them at an advantage
position over another state and regions. Just some decades ago, the United Kingdom has been the
center of the global.
The next 25 years will witness drastic shifts in technology and may even change the idea of being
human beings to an amazing scale. However, in the short run, the next 25 years, the globe will still be
under the activities of nation states and the key issue will be the power shift from the west to the east
(Forbes, 2013). By 2040, the international platform will be more sophisticated, divided between a
wide America sphere of influence in the Middle East, Europe and south Asia, and a Chinese sphere in
Africa and East Asia. Even while having its sphere of influence, the United States will experience
challenges from previous peripheries. The huge, well educated populations of Brazil, Turkey, Poland,
and the surround states will create their blocks, and Russia will strive to revive itself.
Nonetheless, The United States will not cease being the world s strongest superpower. The financial

Of An Hour And Herman Melville s Bartleby, The Scrivener
Kate Chopin s Story of an Hour and Herman Melville s Bartleby, the Scrivener , both demonstrate the
theme of isolation and going against the oppression that was around in their time. Kate Chopin s main
theme is about how married women have less freedom and are restricted in the 19th century. She
portrayed it by talking about the experience in Mrs. Mallard s point of view when, she heard her
husband was presumed dead in a train accident. The way Bartleby, the Scrivener was written, through
the use of the setting imply that Bartleby is going against something he himself cannot change.
Bartleby s action was going against the working world, by refusing to eat and participate in the
economy, since Bartleby was not cooperating with anyone and protesting by himself. Compared to
Story of an Hour , Bartleby, the Scrivener shows more of the theme of justice because Kate Chopin s
story was more focused toward Mrs. Mallard without explaining the circumstance of why she wanted
freedom. While Bartleby, the Scrivener showed more detail regarding the setting of Bartleby, which
makes it easier to understand that he is rebelling against the system for his belief, even if he cannot
change anything by himself. Both works demonstrate the theme of isolation and resistance, however
Herman Melville express the theme better because of his use of characterisation and setting involved
in the story.
Kate Chopin is implying that getting marry is a bad thing because if one has an unhappy

for epic changes and became the common voice of the people. The Temperance Movement had major
impacts on the United States and changed how alcohol was viewed in epic proportions. The
Temperance Movement started in the early 19th century. Its effects took a major hold after the
American Civil War when drinking drastically increased among the middle class. As people got paid
less, they sought comfort in saloons. People like Reverend Mark Matthews of Seattle s ... Show more

She became the voice of the people and travelled across the United States giving speeches, her most
famous speech being Our Girls . People believed in her views and her ability to achieve goals. She
began to attract attention and grew a large following. In many different ways, Stanton represents an
epic hero. She undertakes a vast journey and returns home in both a figurative and literal sense.
Figuratively, Stanton went on a journey speaking out on the effects of alcohol and women s suffrage.
In a literal sense, she went across the United States speaking to groups and sharing her views. Another

Analysis Of Total Eclipse By Annie Dillard
Description Essay Total Eclipse By Annie Dillard
Annie Dillard s Total Eclipse depicts her own existential crisis while watching the 1979 solar eclipse.
Using metaphors and Stream of Consciousness Writing she details her own dissociative hallucination.
She begins her work by describing her morning, comparing it to an avalanche, It had been like dying,
She wrote. that sliding down the mountain pass. It had been like the death of someone, irrational, that
sliding down the mountain pass and into the region of dread. IT was like slipping into fever, or falling

she is standing outside on a mountain, watching the eclipse with her husband. She slips into a
dissociative delusion, writing, I looked at Gary; He was in the film. Everything was lost, He was a
platinum print, a dead artist s version of life. I saw on his skull the darkness of night mixed with the
colors of day. My mind was going out; my eyes where receding the way galaxies recede to the rim of
space. Gary was light years away, gesturing inside a circle of darkness, down the wring end of a
telescope. He smiled as if he saw me; the stringy crinkles around his eyes moved. The sight of him,
familiar and wrong,

madman but rather as a character banding the borderline between sanity and madness. Such a situation
evokes questions about the nature of madness and its understanding in our world. From the
philosophical perspective, this topic has been raised by numerous philosophers; among whom Michel
Foucault, in the book Madness and Civilization: A History of Insanity in the Age of Reason, is the
most famous for his critique of the post Enlightenment attitude ... Show more content on

He joins a small gang of criminals to make easy money. Before the day of the heist, his wife and
unborn child die in an accident. He is forced to commit the crime and in the middle of it is met by the
Batman. Startled, he falls into a vat of chemicals in the factory where the crime is taking place and
escapes it with already changed personality. From this moment, all his crimes are motivated, among
other reasons, by the need to cope with the reality around him. Such an interpretation of madness is
astonishingly similar to the one presented by Plato in Phaedrus. In this dialogue, Plato discusses the
relationship between madness, divinity, and love (eros). What is formed by a combination of madness
and love is a passion which is characterised as human madness. On the opposing side, there is divine
madness which Plato directly regards as a gift from the god. Among this category, four different
subtypes of madness are distinguished and one of them can be read as a perfect justification of Joker s

  • 2. History Of Prague Spring Prague Spring, 1968 The Prague Spring is referred to when the Warsaw Pact allies invaded Czechoslovakia in 1968. In 1948, communism was the only political party in Czechoslovakia. The communist take over was a very popular movement. One reason why it was such a popular movement is because Joseph Stalin signed an agreement with Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt that stated that, the Red Army, which would then lead to pro communism, would liberate Czechoslovakia. The second reason why this was such a popular movement is because the people of Czechoslovakia remembered what happened with the Munich Agreement, where most of Czechoslovakia was surrendered to Nazi Germany in 1938. By the early 1950s, Czechoslovakia was a Soviet style dictatorship and a loyal ally of the Soviet Union (Goldman 123). Antonin Novoty was appointed the head of Czechoslovakia in 1952 by Joseph Stalin. Novoty was not well liked by the Communist Party. He refused to make changes to the political system, thinking that it would improve the Soviet s political influence in Czechoslovakia. In 1967, many very popular writers rebelled against him. It made it more difficult for Novoty to establish policies. The Communist Party then asked him to resign in January 1968. The post of the first Secretary of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia was given to a man named Alexander Dubcek. Dubcek was a dedicated Communist, but was wary of the Soviet policies. He had met many people who came from Stalin s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The National Intelligence Council is the main body for mid and long term strategic thinking and analytical reporting. This report often prepares the president for what the intelligence community believes to the upcoming global issues his presidency will have to content with and provides a analytical speculation of future trends beyond the presidential term. To write an analytical product every four years is problematic when intelligence is fleeting and importance is constantly shifting. Considering the fact that the President receives the Presidential Daily Brief (PDB) on a daily basis, a more realistic approach for the NIC is to produce a report biennially. Though every Supreme Court case played a major role in history, the most prominent three were Palko vs. Connecticut, Brown vs. Board of Education, and Miranda vs. Arizona. These three cases established some major things that we use within the government to this day, and with that, these cases play a prominent role in United States history. The first major case, Palko vs. Connecticut, was heard by the Supreme Court in 1937 and involved Frank Palko, a man whom was charged with second degree murder in the state of Connecticut. When it was heard by the state of Connecticut, his conviction was appealed to seek higher degree conviction. The state s local statute allowed the state to appeal criminal conviction, along with the defendant himself. Setting aside the second degree murder conviction, the courts retried and convicted him of first degree murder. There are between 1.6 and 3.8 million concussions a year that occur due to sports and recreation accidents alone (CDC). Mild concussions and MTBIs were once thought to be insignificant in terms of consequences. However, there now is significant evidence that neurological even with what is thought to be a mild injury, physiological, and cognitive changes can occur. Individuals sustaining mild brain injuries often report an assortment of physical, cognitive, and emotional/behavioral symptoms referred to as post concussion syndrome (PCS). There are many symptoms associated with PCS, but these symptoms are often mistaken as behavior, mood, and/or adjustment disorders. A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury (TBI) that results from a bump, blow, or jolt to the head or body that causes the head to move quickly. • 19. Politics As A Method Of Resolving Conflict Essay It is important to consider that politics is a contested concept with numerous differing views and perspectives presented to us. These different perspectives can offer similar perspectives on the concept of politics and what it means; whilst other times the views are strongly contrasting creating debate on the subject. The main examples of the differing views of politics are as follows: Politics as the art of government; which is the more traditional view of politics. Politics as public affairs; a view which focuses on public institutions rather than civil society. Politics as compromise and consensus; a view which sees politics as a method of resolving conflict. The final view of politics is the view that politics is power; this more cynical view of politics focuses more on the idea of power within the state. This essay will serve to set out these definitions; compare and contrast them with one another to hopefully ascertain a detailed idea of the concept of politics. To begin we should examine what is commonly seen as the traditional view of politics: politics as the art of government. This point of view suggests that the study of politics is solely the study of government, the administrative arm of the state, more specifically the legislature and executive branches with a lesser focus on the judiciary wing. Themes In A Visit From The Goon Squad It is said that a man can never walk into the same river twice, not because the river is changing that after all is inevitable but because the man will never be the same man as he once was. Time, like a river flows in a set direction and once past no amount of nostalgia is capable of reversing its course. Just as it is impossible to reverse the passage of time, it is impossible to retain a past identity. Jennifer Egan s novel, a Visit from the Goon Squad, is a collection of short stories that each have a distinct voice and style. Although each chapter can stand alone, they are bound together by thematic elements and a complex web of relationships centered around Bennie Salazar a music executive and his assistant Sasha. In this passage Egan s fifth narrator, Jocelyn, a recovering drug addict and a childhood friend of Bennie Salazar, returns to the Los Angeles home of her teenage love interest, Lou,a man old enough to be her father who drove her into adapting the sex, drugs and rock and roll lifestyle. With Lou on his deathbed, the now forty three year old Jocelyn reunites with Rhea, another high school friend, and ponders the impact that time has had on their lives. This passage suggests the destructiveness of time on characters and relationships. Using setting, word choice, and personification Egan presents time as truly being a goon. People came from all over to enjoy the Fair despite the slight damage the Great Fire caused Chicago. When 1904 rolled around, St.Louis enthusiastically accepted the invitation to host the World s Fair and the Olympics of 1904. Many new entertainment methods and specific plays and musicals came out of this Fair, including the film and musical, Meet Me in St. Louis. It took up 286 acres in Jackson Park and celebrated the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus arrival in America. The Chicago World s Fair, also known as the World s Columbian Exposition, started near the beginning of the Gilded Age, heading out of the Reconstruction Era. There were plans to make this Fair one of a kind, to be remembered for centuries to come, but its leaders often looked to earlier Fairs for inspiration. One of these was the 1889 World s Fair in Paris, which gave Chicago the idea of creating the Midway Plaisance. Midway was a part of the Fair that provided visitors with fun and educational world history lessons on developing countries and how far humanity has come(www.encyclopedia.chicagohistory.org). The racism and sexism specifically at the Chicago World s Fair was very significant. There were days set aside for only white people and far less days for black people; women could not put their exhibits in the same buildings as the men s exhibits. Multiple tragedies marked the end of the fair. A smallpox epidemic that originated at the fair in midsummer spread throughout the city by early autumn. Then, just before the gala closing ceremonies were to be held, Mayor Carter Harrison was assassinated. Finally, shortly after the fair s close, a fire swept through the fairgrounds, destroying many of the buildings (www.encyclopedia.chicagohistory.org). What might be the cumulative effect of 150+ years of these images on Americans? I noticed that the majority of the plethora of pictures shown in this video were that Blacks, women, men, and even the children, were very dark, had eyes and lips bulging out, jovial and content with slavery, and were usually portrayed eating watermelon. Americans seeing these pictures for 150+ years would eventually emit off the fact that most, if not all, Blacks looked like this and were content of slavery. The pictures evoking off the savage like pictures would give off the fact that Blacks freed from slavery would end up like this to humanity, acting all savagely to Whites. All of these caricatures were far from the truth of the reality of how Blacks were; rather, they were drawn up by Whites who manipulated the White society to believe that these caricatures were facts, which in reality, they were not.  Explain the three uses of Jim Crow: o Dance Jim Crow Dance was a dance that started on the plantation as a result of dancing being outlawed in 1690. Judith Butler, Gender Trouble: Feminism and the Subversion of Identity Judith Butler argues that gender becomes ´real´ by a person unconsciously acting in ways that are accepted to be masculine or feminine and that even biological sex is a product of culture. Gender is imposed through patterns of thought in the society, but history shows that identities have changed over time, then it is impossible to say that they are fixed and eternal. Gender Trouble is an original and radical text that employs for political ends the analytical methods of poststructuralist theory (and its challenge to categories and ideas of objective truth). Due to its conversion into useful information, data mining has become the leading source being used in many fields worldwide. Data mining is based on complex algorithms that allow for the segmentation of data to identify patterns and trends, detect anomalies, and predict the probability of various situational outcomes. The Theories Of The Typology Of Serial Killers A serial killer is a person who commits a series of murders, often with no apparent motive and typically following a characteristic or predictable behavior pattern. Theories on Serial Killers Holmes and DeBurger (1998) specified the typology of serial killers and expressed this typology into four distinct categories: Visionary killers are categorized as being out of touch with reality and are noted as hearing voices in their head Mission oriented serial killers, state that their life s mission is to kill certain kinds of people Hedonistic killers gain their thrills from the joy of the act and these are the majority of serial killers Power/control killers seek more satisfaction through bloodlust and having complete control over their victims (Walsh) Law enforcement and social scientists have often tried to assess serial killers who have been caught in order to better understand their reasons for acting violent. Since serial killers have a definitive personality profile. Some serial killers share the same behaviors such as; wetting the bed and wanting to start fires. While these reasons are not associated with all serial killers, there has been a tendency for these traits to be present in the majority of serial killers that have been studies. Social science has discovered that about 90% of serial killers are Caucasian males. These individuals are most times very smart. Serial killers usually come from dysfunctional families, or have had one parent abandon them at an early age. Psychological analysis has reasoned that this dysfunction or abandonment has caused many individuals to commit criminal acts. Female Serial Killers Female serial killers have been discovered by going by significant data to killer for money or pure excitement as opposed to their male counterparts who have other reasons for killing. Poison is usually seen to be a common technique used by female serial killers. Female serial killers also have been shown to have longer careers as murderers than males and they typically carefully plan their crimes through a methodical process. As university professors are being presented with new types of students, there is a call to integrate advanced technology into their course design, and ultimately, educators must lead the way and use the technology in a fashion that positively aids their students: technology should be used with the needs of the learners in mind and with the goal of improving student learning as the focus (Russo et al. 2014). If this idea is implemented and acknowledged correctly, then many advantages can arise that enhance student learning in university classrooms. The first benefit of instructors introducing advanced technology into their teaching is that technology connects with students, which ultimately arouses their interest because technology as a whole is a relevant and important part of student s lives. When students are interested and engaged in the class material they become motivated to pay attention and focus on what they are being taught, which leads to an improved retention rate of information. This relates to the DVD that West, Pudsey and Dunk West created for teacher to give to their students to work within their learning, and they found that it easily assimilates into their everyday life world (2010). In 2010 there were 14.7 million Asian Americans living in the United States and in 2011 that number increased to 18.2 million.1 Culturally, Asian American people have traditions and beliefs that contradict those of the Western world.2 Culture molds people s values, attitudes, and beliefs; influences their perceptions of self and others; and determines the way they experience their environment. 10 As a result there are certain barriers that exist when communicating with Asian Americans due to their cultural background. Additionally, Asians living in America suffer from the Model Minority Myth, which typecasts these people as being financially and educationally well off in comparison to other ethnic groups.2 Due to this Asian Americans aren t considered more at risk for many health risks compared to other ethnicities; cultural and physical barriers act as a hindrance to Asian Americans receiving healthcare services, primarily mental health related services. Of An Hour And Herman Melville s Bartleby, The Scrivener Kate Chopin s Story of an Hour and Herman Melville s Bartleby, the Scrivener , both demonstrate the theme of isolation and going against the oppression that was around in their time. Kate Chopin s main theme is about how married women have less freedom and are restricted in the 19th century. She portrayed it by talking about the experience in Mrs. Mallard s point of view when, she heard her husband was presumed dead in a train accident. The way Bartleby, the Scrivener was written, through the use of the setting imply that Bartleby is going against something he himself cannot change. Bartleby s action was going against the working world, by refusing to eat and participate in the economy, since Bartleby was not cooperating with anyone and protesting by himself. Compared to Story of an Hour , Bartleby, the Scrivener shows more of the theme of justice because Kate Chopin s story was more focused toward Mrs. Mallard without explaining the circumstance of why she wanted freedom. While Bartleby, the Scrivener showed more detail regarding the setting of Bartleby, which makes it easier to understand that he is rebelling against the system for his belief, even if he cannot change anything by himself.
