An Essay About Alcatraz
The Alcatraz
By: Tom
There is a quote saying, Break the rules and you go to prison, break the prison rules and you go
to Alcatraz ? It is about the prison Alcatraz! It is the place where the convicts of the century were
prisoned, like Al Capone, Birdman, Machinegun Kelly, and others. In the video game Call of
Duty: Black Ops II, Alcatraz is featured in a downloadable zombie survival map called Mob of the
Dead (10 fascinating facts about Alcatraz 7) . It might be interesting to know about history of this
amazing island and children there.
Alcatraz was actually used for American army fortress in 1950s. Then it changed to the America s
safest prison during that time! So much people tried to escape but it isn t easy to escape the Alcatraz.

It is called Al Capones band because Al Capone, the gangster boss played banjo in the band. The
Alcatraz was a island that was found by a Spanish explorer named Juan Manuel de Ayala in
1775, and named it Alcatrasez and that meant island of pelicans in Spanish, and he named it like
that because the island had lots of birds.( 10 fascinating facts about Alcatraz) Next it became an
U.S. Army fortress until 1950s that had about one hundred cannons. Then the Alcatraz became
the hardest prison to escape in United States America during that period. Now it is a tourist
attraction and an enjoyable place in San Francisco. It is so weird that one place changed several
times for few hundred years. But the for me I think it was even more weird when the Brazil s
biggest football stadium was used once for the 2014 Brazil world cup, and now became a
parking lot! By the way it is not impossible to escape the Alcatraz because five people were lost
from the Alcatraz including Frank Lee Morris and the Anglins brothers. Also the book Al Capone
Does My Shirts was a book that had a creative idea about the kids their. Alcatraz is a terrific
island. If anyone has a chance to visit the Alcatraz they should. Because of all these awesome facts
and histories this island have. It is always good and meaningful to visit famous

A Word Wall For Scientific Vocabulary
Science Class: A word wall for scientific vocabulary can be created for courses like Chemistry,
Physical Science, Earth Science, and Physics core classes. For example, in chemistry a word wall
for physical changes, chemical change, and periodic table vocabulary can be constructed by the
students. For Physics, words like speed, velocity, kinetic energy, and potential energy can be posted
on the wallfor a lesson on forces and motion to help facilitate the acquisition of academic
terminology for ELL learners in the field of science. Also concepts that are opposite to each other
like strong/weak, long/short. Hot/cold, soft/hard, ect. allows students to develop critical thinking
skills required for comparing and contract analysis.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
History Class:Pictures or actual replicas can fortify a timeline for a given period of history. For
example, scrutinize a photograph or an actual items from a specific place or time will bring
meaning to the ELL learner. If a video or movie rendition is presented and then a snap shot from the
video is affixed to the timeline then the students is to make multiple visual relationship between the
video, the picture, and the time in history.
English Class:A slideshow or power point presentation can create a visual representation for
teaching about similarities and differences between adjectives used to describe people. Or showing
pictures of characters in a novel will help the students put an image to a written discretion that may
not have been able to create with word only. This can also be used for other aspect within a novel
like a setting, plot, themes, and symbols to meet the language objectives and the core content
objectives.
Small Group Discussion
English Class:In a small groups setting, students will be given a stack of text card which have true
or false statements on them or I agree/disagree statements. As a group they need to decide if the
state if true or they agree with the statement or false or they disagree with the statement. This
decision must be supported by evidence or explained and by unanimous otherwise the card will be

Love Medicine Analysis
Domestic violence is present across America, but the role it has taken in the lives of Native
American women is most troubling as it can be harder to track. Tribal sovereignty can at times act
as a shield for violence. The independent nature of tribes as nations can impede systems established
to prevent reoccurring actions of violencewithin a society. However, as domestic violenceis largely a
result of societal systems, it is easiest and most thoroughly examined through narratives. Louise
Erdrich provides this in Love Medicine. The multi faceted perspectives provide an analysis of the
lives of Ojibwe people. As a reoccurring presence of Native American life, domestic violence is
displayed with repetition, ready to be examined through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No more are women welcome to be respected shaman, religious leaders: Thus, the primary role of
this education for Indian girls was to inculcate patriarchal norms and desires into Native
communities, so that women would lose their places of leadership in Native communities (Smith,
Boarding 90). Marie demonstrates this when she views her noteworthy accomplishments through
the position her husband has attained (Erdrich 153 154). In an Anglicized society, Marie s
accomplishments of raising children is negligible compared to what her husband can achieve.
Marie has internalized this status and cannot see the value in anything she has done to be proud
of. Gordie was raised by a woman who has lost her sense of accomplishment and might have
grown to be blind to the accomplishments of the women around them. The Anglo s historical belief
of gender hierarchy is problematic as negative attitudes toward women are a stronger indicator for
domestic violence than alcohol (Mildorf 29). The gender roles weren t just limited to social power,
but were further expressed through physical dominance. This was translated by the Native
American children s experiences at boarding school, where school leaders showed dominance
through physical abuse in addition to the psychological indoctrination. Sexual, physical, and
emotional violence was rampant. Even when teachers were charged with abuse, boarding schools

Essay On Argument Between Negros Art And Racial Mountain
Argument between Negros Art and Racial Mountain The Negros Art Hokum and The Negros
Artist and the Racial Mountain are well known article written by George S. Schuyler and
Langston Hughes and both of the articles were published in 1926. George Schuyler and Langston
Hughes both argue about Negros art in their article. George Schuyler argues that Negro art doesn t
exist on his article The Negro Art Hokum, while Langston Hughes disagrees with Schuyler s
article and writes a response to his article and argues that everyone has right to be them self and
everyone has their own beauty. Schuyler thinks that the Negros Art doesn t exist since all the work
done by African Americanwas formed on American soil so the work considers as American art, the
other reason is why he thinks that the Negros Art doesn t exist is that America is mostly surrounded

People can be what ever they want they can be black artist if they want or they can white artist if

be someone else who you are not. Langston Hughes gives an example where a young poet says I
want to be a poet not a Negro poet Hughes thinks that the young kid wants to be white. Form my
point of view the young poet said he wants to be poet but not Negro because in during 1920 s
white people were like superior and they have higher chances to become well known person. So
when the young poet said he doesn t want to be a Negro poet he actually meant that he would

Tube 1 And 2 Lab Report
Tube 1 and 2 contain functioning enzyme extract and substrate solution, ribose 5 phosphate.
Furthermore, the conditions in tube 1 and 2 allow the reaction to proceed to form ribulose 5
phosphate and the mount of product formed can be measured. With tube 1 and 2 being identical,
averaging the absorbance allowed minimizing the error due to differences in enzyme
concentration and contaminants within experimental procedure. Tube 3 is used to boil the
enzyme extract to investigate the relationship of temperature on the rate of pentose 5 phosphate
isomerase activity. Tube 4 and 5 act as controls for the absorbance and the effect of substrate and
enzyme on the absorbance reading are investigate respectively. Tube 6 acts as a comparison for
the known amount of product whereby the absorbance of other tubes can be compared to tube 6
in order to calculate amount of ribulose 5 phosphate present. Lastly, tube 7 acts a black for all the

Secondly, the sum of tube 4 (no enzyme) and tube 5 (no ribose 5 phosphate) were used to
adjusted the absorbance of tube 1 and 2 after using tube 7. As tube 4 only takes ribose 5
phospahte and tube 5 only contains the enzyme extract, by taking the difference of the sum of
these two values from the absorbance of one the full tubes (tube 1 or 2) it allows to account for
the absorbance caused by ribose 5 phosphate and the enzyme extract. And the adjusted absorbance
will indicate only the absorbance of the red complex formed by reaction between resorcinol
hydrochloric acid and ribulose 5 phosphate. Lastly tube 3 (boiled enzyme) is not used as denatured
enzyme has a different absorbance compared to active enzymes, thus tube 3 cannot be used to
adjust the absorbance values (Kabacoff and Laken,

Donald Trump Political Scandal
There once was a young man named Rod. Rod had worked hard for the majority of his life. He
was born into a poorer family in Chicago. He took odd jobs growing up and later in life went into
politics. His life was looking up he had made a name for himself and decided to run for
Governor. He won and was then given a chance to decide who would fill the new president s seat
in the senate. Instead of picking a member of his party, or picking the most qualified candidate he
decided to accept a bribe, almost like a payment, for the seat. Now one might recognize this story.
It s the story of Rod Blagojevich, the former Illinois Governor who was impeached from office
under an unanimous vote, and imprisoned for 14 years on many charges including corruption.
There are a few things that make news headlines what the Kardashians are doing, Donald Trump s
new racist claim, and Political Scandals. Corruption is spreading so fast. It s almost moving faster
than the flu through a kindergarten classroom.
It is known the the people elect to run this country are abusing their power. If an example is
needed just look at everyone s best friend: Richard Nixon. He did a really good job at covering up
his corruption. If only the guys didn t mess up Watergate he would have finished his second term.

The War Of The United States Army
Many stories are told throughout history with a flourish and twinkle in the eye. From tales of the
Roman Empire and its long suffering fall to revolutions sparked around the globe that ignite a sense
of patriotism and independence in its citizens, from France to Vietnam. A story that is passed down
from generation to generation, though, is the story of the Screaming Eagles, or the 101st Airborne
Division of the United States Army, and no other time is more ripe for storytelling about these
brave men, these Band of Brothersfrom the 506th Infantry Regiment, than World War II. From
simple beginnings in western Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia and New York and Arkansas, to
training camp in Georgia, we hear the stories of desperately young men transformed by war, by
death and destruction and small pieces of glittering hope, and we laud their bravery, their sacrifice,
and their determination. Who exactly are these Band of Brothers, and what did they do that
contributed so heavily to their god like status then and now? From Camp Toccoa in Georgia to the
beaches of Normandy, the bitterly cold forests of Belgium, the small towns of Amsterdam, and
finally to the heartland of the Third Reich, these raucous, courageous, honorable men shaped each
part of the war they attended, and their legacy lives on through story and media today.

Noninvasive Vital Signal Detector Essay
The purpose of the noninvasive vital signal detector is to detect the heart and respiration rate while
displaying the information through wireless technology in your home environment. Compared to
the conventional monitoring instruments such as electrocardiograms (ECGs) and apex
cardiograms (ACGs), this device must be more affordable and portable while it still maintains a
certain degree of accuracy as compared to the ECGs and ACGs. Electrocardiography is a
noninvasive recording of the electrical impulses that originates from the sinoatrial node of the heart
that is detected by electrodes placed near the heart. Unlike the conventional ECGs, the vital sign

CONSTRAINTS This device must be noninvasive. This device must be affordable to average
consumers (~$40). To maximize comfort this device will be made to transmit data wirelessly.
To decrease burden on the user, the device must be lightweight and compact. This device must
not potentially harm the user even if damaged or mistreated. The power supplied to the device
must be autonomously powered. The device must be comfortable. The device must have an
intuitive user interface. The current design will use two separate systems. The first system will
compose of the vital signal sensor and a wireless transmitter to transmit the data. The second
system will consist of a receiver with a signal processing program that will analyze the data
transmitted from the first device and output the data to the user. To obtain the most accurate
reading, the device must be placed directly over the heart where the heart pulse and respiration
expansion will be the greatest. There are many different ways to secure this device to the body. It
has been decided the best way to secure the device onto the body is to secure the device onto
nylon which will be wrapped around the person s chest and strapped on the back. The nylon will fit
itself onto the person s body to obtain an accurate reading with minimum outside interference even
when the user is active. The components of the device must move

When Google began, like any other company, management was very important. It was the baby of
Larry Page and Sergey Brin who were both students at Stanford during this time. The two had a
unique perspective on global information. Page and Brin rarely did things the conventional way
but there company was started on a basic structure. Google had added two new positions from
2004 but even those additional positions aren t the major catalysts of Google s managerial success
(Stross, 2008).
Page, in his first major reorganization since taking the reins as CEO earlier this week, placed
executives leading the groups directly under his supervision, eliminating management layers
thought to slow product development, according to sources familiar with the situation (Oreskovic.
A 2011). By bringing Gen Y ers into top management teams may provide the knowledge and
energy to speed up the renewal of American business leadership and American business. For
startups, we already bring in adult supervision to complement the skills and knowledge of
entrepreneurial kid techies. For the thousands of big companies lumbering along the 21st century,
it s time to bring the little fockers into shared power. At the moment, the world is just too complex
for Boomer CEOs. We need B Y team leadership. We need to follow the standard that Google has
put forth.
Explain senior management s role in preparing the organization for its most recent change.

Character Analysis Of Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart

Literary Analysis: character analysis
The introduction of a new culture to another culture can be quite a challenge, as well as life
changing for those individuals who decide to assimilate the new beliefs and customs. The arrival of
the missionaries to Nigeria affected the the Ibo culture and introduced its people to a new set of
religious beliefs and westernized customs. Chinua Achebe s novel, Things Fall Apart, portrays the
contrasting reactions of people to the new culture brought to their clan by the missionaries. Achebe
depicts the story of a prideful father put to shame when his own son decides to embrace the new
unfamiliar culture, as an act of rebellion against his father. Nwoye, the son, and Okonkwo, the

The new culture to which Nwoye was introduced to was completely different to what he had
known all of his life, and he found beauty and peace, despite contradicting his father s opinion.
But there was a young lad who had been captivated. His name was Nwoye, Okonkwo s first son.
It was not the mad logic of the Trinity that captivated him. He did not understand it. It was the
poetry of the new religion, something felt in the marrow. The hymn about brothers who sat in the
darkness and in fear seem to answer a vague and persistent question that haunted his young soul
the question of the twins crying in the bush and the question of Ikemefuna who was killed.
(Achebe 147, para. 5). In this new religion, Nwoye found a refuge from all of the questions that
tormented him, ever since his father participated in the killing of Ikemefuna. The white man was
also their brother because they were all sons of God. (Achebe 145, para.1). This new teaching from
the missionaries caught Nwoye s attention because he could not understand the reason why
Ikemefuna had had to be executed, and now more than ever he was sure that Ikemefuna had been
treated unfairly by the people from his village and Okonkwo.
Nwoye s choices regarding his religious conversion affected him, but he was more than happy
following his new beliefs. What moved Obierika to visit Okonkwo was the sudden appearance of
the latter s son, Nwoye,

Media Influence on Public Policy Essays
Policymaking is a political process which is affected by various social and economic factors
(Hofferbert, 1974) and media systems play an integral role in shaping the social context in which
policies are developed. Through the media, citizens learn how government policies will affect them,
and governments gain feedback on their policies and programs. Media systems act as the primary
channels between those who might want to influence policyand the policymakers controlling the
scope of political discourse and regulating the flow of information. Textbook policymaking follows
an orderly sequence where problems are identified, solutions devised, policies adopted,
implemented, and lastly evaluated (Mazamanian Sabatier, 1989). In reality,... Show more content on

This effect does not refer to the sole influence of CNN on policymaking, but rather on the power of
global media networks to determine political processes through selective coverage of certain issues.
This is particularly important, as most of the public rely on the media for access to foreign policy
information (Brown Vincent, 1995). Gilboa notes that: The [CNN] concept was initially suggested
by politicians and officials haunted by the Vietnam media myth, the confusion of the post Cold War
era, and the communications revolution. Despite evidence to the contrary (Hallin, 1986), many
leaders still believe that critical television coverage caused the American defeat in Vietnam. Since
then, many have viewed the media as an adversary to government policies in areas such as
humanitarian intervention and international negotiation. (Gilboa, 2005, p. 37)
To determine whether the media has the power to influence policymaking, Robinson (2000)
devised the policy media interaction model (See Table 1), using the theoretical framework of press
state relations in the United States outlined by Hallin (1986). This model was applied to a number
of US humanitarian interventions, which took place in the 1990s. The results showed, that critical
reporting by the media with a strong pro intervention frame had a strong role in shaping the US
government policies when policymakers were uncertain about their actions but a weak role when
government policies

Explaining Fast Fashion
How fast fashion is affecting the environment is a very serious topic since this type of
consumerism in the United States is heavy on supply and demand, and because of that shoppers
want it all and want it now which is basically fast fashions motto. The way to make these pieces
of clothing heavily rely on cheap materials that can be made quickly, so that is polyester and
cotton being made in big factories that emit out toxins into our earth. Cotton being one of the
most used fabrics takes a lot to be made into a single garment. Uzbekistan which is the 6th
biggest producer of cotton had faced many conflicts during production since cotton uses so much
water to be made it has dried up the 4th largest lake the Aral Sea because of how much we need to
produce cotton fashion. (Prospectjournalucsd) Buying these cheap garments that become
unwearable after 5 times (Forbes) of wearing it usually gets thrown out after and producing more
waste that gets put into our waterways since theses garments shed easy and through washing them
can find their way into oceans and on the shores everywhere. (Sweeny) So with the help of
shoppers, being able to cut down on the purchase of fast fashion can help aid in keeping the
ecosystem in order.
Benefits of Not Buying Fast Fashion
A benefit of not buying fast fashion would be becoming more aware of what how shoppers affect
the earth and taking that into

Archetype And Jung
Carl Jung and his Analytical Psychological approach serves as the most beneficial theory in
beautifully describing human personality. Jung s approach rested on the idea of psychic energy
and this energy formed the basis to personality. Three common principles of psychic energy
included the Opposition principle, where Jung viewed conflict between polar psychological forces
as the source of energy in behavior motivation. For example, the greater the conflict in one s life,
the greater the energy to grow and overcome that conflict. Another aspect of psychic energy rested
on the idea of equivalence. Jung had a background in physics, and he attributed all energy, including
psychic energy, as something that lacks creation and destruction, rather,... Show more content on

Nurture in a peculiar manner. Jung believed human beings possessed the innate need and primary
motivation for becoming their true selves, also known as, Individuation and Transcendence.
However, there does exist environmental factors that play into catalyzing our Individuation, but
also thwarting our ultimate goal in life. Such thwarting forces exist in social pressures that force us
to be pseudo selves and inhibit us from becoming our true manifestations of our personal human
energies. In terms of Determinism vs. Free Will, I believe Jung held on to a moderate stance of
both aspects. Deterministically, like mentioned before, Carl Jung believed we each have an innate
drive towards individuation and we inherit prior human experiences that shape our behavior.
However, I do believe Jung held a notion of free will by inferring that humans individuate by choice,
especially when freely accepting the persona, anima/animus, and shadow archetypes that lead to
self individuation (Schultz Schultz, 2017, p.

By the time he was 14 he was already snorting cocaine. He lies all the time, steals money from his
mother s purse and take items from the house. He does all of this to feed his addiction to cocaine.
His family doesn t want to give up on him but they are divided about what to do to help him
overcome this addiction. His addiction has split the family down the middle some wanting to
continue enabling him and others wanting to let him go completely. The one thing they do agree
on is if Chad continues down this path of destruction his actions would result in his death. A
person s cocaine addiction creates disorder and chaos for the entire family. When a person
succumbs to the addiction of cocaine family responsibilities are pushed to the back burner. The
addiction then becomes priority over everything that was once important. Children are neglected,
abandoned, and in some cases mentally and physically abused (Nazario, 1997). Cocaine addition
causes a person who once enjoyed spending time with family to become isolated and withdrawn
because they would rather be doing drugs with other addicts. Drug use is very harmful because it
will eventually take over a person s life. When a person becomes desperate to use drugs he or she,
will do anything to get them. They will steal money or items to sell to get their hands on drugs

Summary Of The Art Of Living Consciously By Nathaniel Branden
In 1999, Nathaniel Branden published a very influential book called The Art of Living
Consciously. This book discussed various ways one can build their self esteem. This is one of
many of Branden s books on self esteem but this one is focusing on the aspect of living
consciously. He promotes this as the idea of living consciously as a healthy aspect of selfesteem in a
person s mental abilities and respect for reality. He applies his theory of living consciously to
specific aspects of life such as relationships, parenting, and in the workplace. Branden portrays his
ideas in a very approachable way, many of his sentences seem somewhat open ended so you can
you relate it your everyday life. For example, he states What determines the level... Show more

He explains to use how we may be able to live consciously and how we can shift our focus from
consciously living; the flipping the switch as mentioned earlier. He explains that what can help
us all live this way is by knowing what we are doing while we are doing it. Though this may
seem like a very simple task but one that would require some discipline. One of the interesting
aspects of Branden s work is that he walks us through situations we would encounter in our
everyday lives and then has the reader ask themselves questions like How can we be more
conscious in this area? and How can we tell we are doing right? This helps the reader feel more
connected with his writing. They may be able to envision how they can live more conscious and
their life and become more aware of how to living this way. Some of the topics Branden really
highlighted throughout his book was the importance of reason and the commitment of
awareness. But he s does this in such a desirable approach, he does not try to validate his points
instead he examines life starting from child and shows how things in life could have affected
your way to practice the principles to live in this state. He writes about the lives of himself and
other involved in his life and puts us in situations showing that to be more aware of the reality
around you can make yourself stand out to others who bury themselves in unconsciousness. Yet
his way of displaying this message is so approachable because he discourages the common idea
that reason rather than experience is the key to knowledge and he also speaks to you through
your experiences that really make you think. This really helps bring the reader closer to the
experience Branden is try to put forth and the stories, exercises and discussions really help portray
that message. Instead of describing the good life, he invites us into discover this life for ourselves

Champlain, governor of New France, sent Nicolet to contact the Ho Chunk people, make peace
between them and the Huron and expand the fur trade, and possibly to also find a water route to
Asia. Accompanied by seven Huron guides, Nicolet left New France and canoed through Lake

rather small storehouses for furs. During the French colonial period, the first black people came

Introduction
ISIS in recent times a terrorist organization that has been carrying out fatal beheadings, attacks and
sending threats to the Western world in no uncertain terms. In particular, their anger is mostly
aimed at the United States of America because of previous issues with that country. To be more

They are only playing a consultative role to the Iraqi armed forces and Syrian rebels that are
fighting them in Syria.
This book seeks to define ISIS, who they are and what their purpose is. From their point of view,
this terrorist organization seems to be engaging in a religious war against their enemies. However
the UK and US do not see the war as a religious one, but mainly one that rids the world of the new
age terrorists.
They are called new age terrorists as they have broken ranks from the original group al Qaeda.
This gives people cause for concern, as their new age methods tend to be more vicious and radical
that then of the original group.
The operation of their group is controlled similar to a business and they also have strengths in
numbers. Therefore, with their current resources in the area and their growing numbers, they are
slowly becoming a force to be reckoned with. This means that at any given time they are capable
of carrying out an attack on the western world. The concern is that they want to have their voices
heard and this means by any means necessary they will try to get the world s attention.
This group is unlike any other the world has seen before due to its operations. No other terrorist
group has been so organized to get things done rather quickly and effectively. Their reach extends
outside of those countries and has been actively trying to recruit new

Immigrants In Canada
Canada is a country that is known as a mosaic of people and cultures, meaning; it opens it arms to
immigrant families and gives them the freedom to express their own cultural values, ideas, beliefs
and customs. It is this system that welcomes thousands and thousands of immigrants a year with
open arms and the idea of a better life. This idea however, is sometimes not always as easy as it is
thought to be. Though Canadais an amazing country for immigrants to start a new life and get
better education, health care, and job opportunities, immigrant families are met with many
challenges before they are able to become accustom to their new life. It is important to understand
the true difficulty of the Immigrant Experience and the impact it has on families including adults
as well as children. If it is easier to understand the difficulties immigrant families go through in
search of a better life in Canada there can be more resources made to help them. It is important to
take into consideration each individual difficulty that is faced and properly research each factor in
order to have a better understanding on how to make the complete economic and societal
integration of immigrants happen faster. There is a number of categories that relate to the
integration of immigrants into society and a number of steps they must take to be a part of
Canadian society. In order to understand these steps they have to be thoroughly researched.
Language Barriers
When immigrants first step into Canadas borders the most obvious challenge they have to face is
the barrier that is set immediately due to language differences. Canadas official languages include
both English and French these languages arguably are the most difficult languages to learn. In
many ways, for immigrants the first step to both economic and societal immigration is learning
English. Without learning English and proper English literacy skills there is little chance of getting
a well paying job, making connections with people in Canadian society and overall, without English
immigrants are unable to communicate with others around them in society during everyday life.
Language and Literacy training also relate to immigrant s employability. In a study showing

Diversity In Medicine
In recent years, there has been a predicted shortage of physicians in the United States of America
by 2025, numbering between 46,000 and 90,000 physicians for a growing United States
population 1. However, the more pressing issue will be an even bigger shortage of minority
physicians. Minorities are underrepresented in medical facilities as students and faculty.
However, one minority especially has been on the decline since 1978. African American males in
the medical field have been on a steady downward trend. In 1978, 1,410 African American males
applied to medical school, compared to 2014, when 1,337 African American males applied to
medical school 2. This downward trend is concerning to many persons both inside and out of the
medical field. A recent article published by the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

in all races, genders, and ethnicities, and will provide an increase in the quality of healthcare for the
United States population. A new generation of minority physicians is a step towards eliminating
health inequalities for the rapidly changing United States population 4. Consequently, more
minority physicians will lead to an increase in racial minority participation in clinical research.
According to the National Cancer Institute, more white people participate in their studies, despite

Movie My Favorite Movie
I love watching movies. Their ability to transport you to another world for two hours and make
you care about people that aren t real is the most unrecognized form of magic. I m not a critic, so
any movie will do, as long as I m interested enough to watch it. Many movies stick in my mind,
whether it s a hilarious joke, an awesome fight scene, or simply a unique plot. There is one movie,
however, which stands out among them all. A filmI had never heard of before viewing called
Prisoners. From start to finish, I was invested in the characters and their goals. I felt their fear and
desperation. I was in the movie, not sitting on my living room couch. The movie Prisoners was
suspenseful, chilling, and memorable, so there is no doubt in my mindthat it is my favorite movie,
and I will likely remember it for the rest of my life. The backbone of any good movie is the story.
The story is the rope that the movie uses to drag you in, to make you feel for the characters, to
make you more than a simple movie viewer. Prisoners was about Keller Dover, an average man
with a teenage son and a young daughter. They have friends down the street, another family just
like them. Life isn t perfect, but it s far from anything worth complaining about. Then. the
unthinkable happens. The young girl goes missing. From that moment on, both the police and
Keller search for her, but they use methods that are drastically different from each other. This poses
a question to the audience: How far would you go for the people you love? The way the movie
portrayed the desperation of Mr. Dover and the detective assigned to the case was perfect. As
time went on, doubt and fear began to take over the minds of everyone involved. As they mystery
was slowly unraveled, many twists and turns prevented the solution from being obvious. I was
constantly thinking about what might have happened, and I was still nowhere near to close. The
emotions felt by everyone who feared for this innocent girl and wondered where she was exploded
on the TV screen. It was suspenseful, heart wrenching, and everything you could want from a
movie. Truly, an excellent story propelled Prisoners into my mind and my heart, more than earning
my favor. Besides a great storyline,

Corruption Of Corruption
Introduction In a democratic system like India, the role played by the judiciary is of paramount
prominence. The judiciary, through its immaculate reasoning ability helps to keep a democracy
proficiently running, and this is perhaps one of the causes why the Independence of the judiciary
is the cornerstone of India s democracy. Transparency and accountability these are two
fundamental words which help in instituting a system of good governance in any country.
Statistics and studies have shown that where there exists a veil of secrecy, there exists corruption.
And as depressing as it is, the one body which adjudicates on corruption and lays down guidelines
to prevent such corrupt activities has been affected by corruption itself. The reason why the
collegium system was criticized and the government wanted to remove it was this very reason; it
was injected and filled with corruption. The collegium system had no room for transparency, thus it
eventually led to activities of corruption and nepotism taking place. Such acts of corruption,
nepotism etc. would in the long run affect the judiciary and the stability of the government. The
NJAC Act was introduced in the light of these events to overcome these issues and to provide a
more dependable and stable mechanism to the appointment of judges to the High Court and the
Supreme Court of India. After the National Judicial Commission Bill was introduced in the Lok
Sabha on August 11, 2014 by the Hon ble Law minister Mr. Ravi

Personal Philosophy Of School Social Work
I am interested in school social work. My biggest goal is to work and help neglected children.
When volunteering at Bessemer Elementary I got to see a school social worker in action.
Making sure the children weren t being abused, making sure that a child had the necessary needs
to grow, and be successful in, and outside of school. This field has always interesting to me
because when I was younger I had a family social worker. She came to visit my brothers and I after
my father passed when it became hard for my mother to take care of all five of us. Every time
she came she had a big smile on her face, and she gave my mother hope that everything would be
okay; which is what I want to help someone else with.
A School Social Workeris someone that trained to help students, parents, and sometimes staff
with child needs. A school social worker focuses on providing a great outcome for the child, and
the family they are working with. A school social worker can help with mental health which is

The Australian Healthcare System Has Been Evolving Since...
Introduction The Australian healthcare system has been evolving since the beginning of the
colonisation of Australia. Today, Australia has an extremely efficient healthcare system although it
still has several issues. The influencing factors, structure, and current issues of the Australian
healthcare system will be throughly discussed and explained in this essay.
Influencing Factors When Australia was first colonised, health services were considered to be an
issue to be dealt with by local governments (Evolution of Government Involvement in Health Care,

In 1928, a national health insurance scheme was proposed but not implemented because it would
have required businesses to provide contributions to health insurance for their employees (Evolution
of Government Involvement in Health Care, n.d). Another national health insurance scheme was
proposed in 1938 but it was also rejected (Evolution of Government Involvement in Health Care,
n.d; Hilless Healy, 2001). The next proposal was the 1945 Pharmaceuticals Benefits Act. This Act
was not implemented because the Australian Medical Association challenged it in the High Court
of Australia and it was decided that parliament had exceeded its constitutional power (Hilless Healy,
2001). In 1946, under the Hospital Benefits Act, the Commonwealth began to subsidise public
hospitals under the condition that patients would not be charged (Evolution of Government
Involvement in Health Care, n.d; Hilless Healy, 2001). This act is similar to the current Medicare
system. Australia s first national health plan was introduced in 1950 (Evolution of Government
Involvement in Health Care, n.d). Five years after the first attempt at a Pharmaceutical Benefits
Act, the Australian Government implemented the 1950 Pharmaceutical Benefits Act, which is still
in effect today (Hilless Healy, 2001). In 1953, the National Health Act was introduced by The

Miller Vs. Johnson Case
Miller v. Johnson 1995 was a United States Supreme Court Case that decided whether racial
gerrymandering was unconstitutional or not. This issue was very controversial, but before
being able to understand how the case affected the use of racial gerrymandering, one has to
understand what gerrymandering is. Every state is made up of different districts, and each
district is entitled to their own votes when it comes to elections. Gerrymandering is the
manipulation of district boundaries in a way that creates a political advantage in elections by
putting a large group of people who are likely to vote for a certain party in one district. In the
case of Miller v. Johnson 1995, only one congressional district in Georgia was primarily African
American between 1980 and 1990. However, in 1990, Georgia s black population was at 27%,
and many African Americans felt that they were being underrepresented. Georgia s General
Assembly was prompted to re draw district boundaries in such a way that the black population
would be more represented in terms of electoral votes. Two drafts of boundaries were created that
were subsequently denied by the Justice Department. Finally, a draft was approved and an
additional black majority district was created. However, the new plan was considered an
abomination due to the way that it was geographically positioned. The third district alone split eight
counties and five municipalities and covered a territory of approximately 6,784 square miles. It

The Problem With Illegal Aliens
Introduction Despite the multiple laws and policies that were implemented in the United States,
there is still a problem with illegal aliens or immigrants. The U.S. government has spent millions of
dollars to secure our southern border but, with that being said, the government has charged the
Department of Homeland Security to create and implement new and innovative ways to justify and
solidify those polices. In this case study, there will be a focus and analytical approach to three of
the main issues which continue to surface on immigration enforcement. These issues are: who is an
illegal alien; who can detain illegal aliens; and when can they be deported?

This situation along with many others lead to the demise of the company many years later. Many
illegal aliens migrate to the United States for work opportunities so they can support their families.
Many people have negative attitude toward these individuals but, not all of the individuals that

Who can detain illegal aliens? Any law enforcement branch including the Department of
Homeland Security (DHS) operating under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) has the
right to detain any person seeking illegal entry into the U.S. This Act was passed by congress and
is the main law that legislates and regulates immigration. This authority is prescribed by the
Secretary of DHS to all law enforcement agency operating from the local level all the way up to the

to the body s energy density. A 20 year study on 120,000 men and women found that people who

over time about 4 pounds per year (19). Through increasing the daily intake in trivial increments,
the body substantially results in an increased BMI (body mass index) and an increased body fat
percentage score. Another study conducted at Harvard found that a 60 percent increase occurs
in children for each 12 ounce they additionally drink daily. (________) The growing correlation
between obesity and sugar has led to further studies, and statistical data. Researchers have

The Imitation Game Historical Inaccuracies
The Imitation Game is a 2014 American historical drama film directed by Morten Tyldum and

caused Germany to lose the war. I had a lot of German history in high school, since it is obviously

happened and how it was used. Furthermore, I think that the movie is really entertaining; however,
it helps the viewer to understand the historical events taking place and conveys the importance of
those events. I was able to understand the historical event, even though the creators of the movie
had made many changes. I like how Alan Turingis characterized by the filmmaker and how his
personality changes throughout the movie. In general, I think that historical movies are a great
way to tell history as long as the historical events are portrayed close to the historical record. In
my opinion, it is a good way to illustrate history to students because history can be pretty dry if not
taught correctly, and movies help to make it more entertaining. However, historical movies only
show a certain civilization or event, which makes them limiting in conveying the whole economic
and global effects of the events portrayed. If historical movies are combined with informing
lectures and textbook readings, the whole history can be conveyed very accurately to students, and
the films make it more fun to study

26 April, 2016 During the Protestant Reformation, there was one man who was in control of it all.
Born in Noyon, Picardy, France on July 10, 1509, Jon Calvin was known as the most important
figure in the second generation of the Protestant Reformation. Calvin played a huge part in the
spread of Protestantism and Christianity throughout Scotland, England and the Netherlands.
Although this might have been good for his reputation throughout the Christian community, he did

coach Tom Herman, leading them to a 13 1 record and a Peach Bowl victory over the Florida State
Seminoles.
Herman is not your average college football head coach. While he believes in the X s and O s, he
also takes prides in analytics, specifically two sets of stats. As we see in the world of sports, every
aspect of the game is starting to become more based around analytics.
At AAC media days, Herman talked about those two stats and more with SB Nation s Steven
Godfrey and Bill Connelly.
When asked about what two stats Herman looks at the most. He mentioned the turnover battle and
yards.
First numbers I look at are turnovers, Herman said. Second numbers I look at are yards. ... Show

For Houston, the turnover battle was their friend last season as their turnover margin was plus 1.5
per game. When you have a turnover margin at that rate, you will win a lot of football games.
The only game the Cougars lost last season due to the turnover battle not being in their favor was to
the Connecticut Huskies. In that game alone, Houston turned over the ball four times. That is a not
recipe for success.
However, Herman is also right when he says yards don t matter because in that game against
UConn, the Cougars out gained the Huskies 318 315.
Finally, one more stat that Herman spoke about was explosive plays, which Houston charts and it s
another why they are successful.
If you win the turnover battle and the explosive play battle in the same game, you win it 98 percent
of the time, Herman told Godfrey and Connelly.
Obviously, these are the stats to success for the Cougars and thus far it has worked out for them. It
will be interesting to see if these stats continue to work in their favor this upcoming season as they
try to repeat as AAC

Monocacy River Essay
Environmental
The largest environmental feature of the Southeast Corridor is the Monocacy River. As the largest
tributary into the Potomac river, limiting negative environmental impacts is a key constraint of
redevelopment in the area (Frederick County Planning and Permitting Department, 2010). In
addition, the Monocacy River is also utilized for local water supply. As a classified Tier II Stream
Segment, our portion of the river has a high Benthic Index and Fish Index of Biotic Integrity. The
State of Maryland has identified the river as a State Green Infrastructure Corridor and Sensitive
Species area. Any new development along the river would have to have a setback of up to 175 ft
from the river due to the Waterbody Buffer Ordinance.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Frederick County is looking to increase Historic Tourism and park segways to historic sites. Our
redevelopment has the potential to incorporate these historic goals (Frederick County Planning and
Permitting Department, 2010).
Community Services Under Frederick County jurisdiction, in order to fund improvement to new or
existing public services like schools, parks, libraries, public safety, and infrastructure a Capital
Improvements Program is utilized.
Schools
Currently, the Southeast Corridor is districted for Lincoln Elementary School, Crestwood Middle
School, and Tuscarora High School (Office of the County Executive, 2017). The County has set a
goal of keeping countywide school capacity at 90%. However, under the county s Adequate Public
Facilities Ordinance, any schools that service new development areas must have school enrollment
100% under capacity for all phases of development. The Tuscarora High School will need an
additional 60 to cope with future development but is it anticipated to be solved by redistricting
through the Board of Education. Unfortunately, Lincoln Elementary School has an anticipated
deficit of 620 seats with all current development projects, meaning another elementary school will
need to be built at a rough price of $42 million for more redevelopment to be approved.

The Rising Cost Of Higher Education
The rising cost of higher education is a topic of large concern today. As tuition prices continue to
grow at a quicker pace than housing prices, consumer prices and average hourly wages, it is
becoming harder and harder for the average American family to afford going to college. What
factors have been driving this large rise in tuition prices? This thesis aims to set up a supply and
demandframework to analyze the various forces that may be driving the price of higher educationto
rise above the Consumer Price Index over time. After defining long run supply and demand for
the higher education market, this thesis addresses economy wide factors and summarizes the
findings of Robert Archibald and David Feldman in Why Does College Cost So Much?. Next,
this thesis examines higher education specific factors and specifically tests the hypothesis: The
long run supply curve for higher educations is theoretically vertical. The inability for supply to
meet the increasing demand for higher education results in a supply and demand imbalance that
drives up the price of higher education. After looking at both economy wide and higher
education specific factors, it is apparent that slow productivity growth and large wage increases
for professors (cost disease) and an unresponsive total enrollment (supply) in the face of rising
demand are largely driving the increase in the price of higher education. In order to curb this
rising prices, his thesis will offer a few policy implications and

Love Between a Parent and Child in After Making Love We...
Love Between a Parent and Child in After Making Love We Hear Footsteps There are several
different definitions for the word love. Love is a simple four letter word, with a multitude of
caring and feeling behind it. There is a difference between loving somebody and being in love
with somebody. The love between two best friends or between a husband and wife are the types
of love that people want to last forever. However, there are no guarantees that it will last forever.
Furthermore, the love between family members and the love between a parent and child is the
kind of love that will last a life time. In Galway Kinnell s poem After Making Love We Hear

The feeling of security that the parents give by being there helps the young boy sleep at night.
For example, Galway Kinnell writes: and says, Are you loving and snuggling? May I join? he
flops down between us and hugs us and snuggles himself to sleep, his face gleaming with
satisfaction at being this very child. The parents understanding of knowing that the child needs
security is just one the many responsibilities they have for being a parent. Furthermore, the
parents feel that even though the situation there in is very frustrating, they would not give it up
for anything. The love for their child will never go away. Kinnell expresses this feeling of love
on the last couple of lines of the poem: This one whom habit of memory propels to the ground of
his making, sleeper only the mortal sounds can sing awake, this blessing love gives again into
our arms. The love between a parent and child is unconditional. It comes straight from the heart.
The bond between a parent and child is something that only a parent can really understand. It
starts before the child is born and will last a life time. Parents want to protect their child from any
kind of harm. From the day the child is born, the mother and father will be the one that the child
will depend on. The parents will be the one the child relies on whenever the child gets hurt, needs
help, needs a shoulder to cry on,

The Asperger Syndrome (RTT)
About Asperger Syndrome
The disorder is named after Hans Asperger, a Viennese pediatrician who, in 1944, first described a
set of behavior patterns apparent in some of his patients, mostly males. Asperger noticed that
although these boys had normal intelligence and language development, they had severely impaired
social skills, were unable to communicate effectively with others, and had poor coordination.
According to the Asperger Syndrome Coalition of the United States, the onset of AS may be later
than what is typical in autism or at least it is recognized later. Many kids are diagnosed after age 3,
with most diagnosed between the ages of 5 and 9.

Onset occurs between 6 and 18 months of age.[9] During this time there are subtle developmental
deviations and early indicators of Rett syndrome. A period of developmental stagnation is
followed by developmental regression where language and motor milestones regress, purposeful
hand use is lost, and acquired deceleration in the rate of head growth (resulting in microcephaly in
some) is seen. Hand stereotypes are typical, and breathing irregularities such as hyperventilation,
breathholding, or sighing are seen in many. Early on, autistic like behavior may be seen. The
infant with Rett syndrome often avoids detection until 6 18 months, owing to a relatively normal
appearance and some developmental progress. However, closer scrutiny reveals disturbance of the
normal spontaneous limb and body movements that are thought to be regulated in the brainstem.
The brief period of developmental progress is followed by stagnation and regression of previously
acquired skills. During regression, some features are similar to those of autism. It is, hence, easy to
mistakenly diagnose Rett syndrome for

around Excellent Coaching Every Time for Everyone which provided a focus on four main key
objectives, these were:
More appropriately qualified and skilled coaches
A more diverse workforce
A culture of self improvement
A better supported workforce.
This report will discuss the current status of coach education and coach learning in the UK. These
findings will then be used to identify and recommend to the management board of Sports Coach
UK and the Minister for sport where the investments from the central Governments for coach
education and development should be placed.

participation of young people in sport, community involvement and social responsibility and that
the health in Britain has gone down. Sports Coach UK (2008) agreed that it was in need of

having their future lined up for themselves I felt like I was all alone not knowing what my future
was going to look like. Once 10th grade ended I decided to get a job. I became a cashier at a fast

Chemical Insecticides Or Utilitarianism
Chemical Insecticides or Utilitarianism
Harmful chemicals have been used throughout time to kill off insects and various plagues that
have been considered harmful to the environment. Many have questioned how helpful they
really are to our environment. Pesticides, herbicides, and insecticides have proven to be more
detrimental to humans, plants, and animals than was ever expected. The use these chemicals
has proven to be more costly than beneficial. The use of chemicals has failed to take many
ethical values into consideration. One that I will discuss today is the ethic of Utilitarianism.
Utilitarianism s claim the purpose of morality is to make the world a better place (Ethics S14).
If utilitarianism was practiced more than we wouldn t have such a big problem with the use of
chemical pesticides. I will start by stating a crucial fact that has changes the life of nature as it
was once known. Since the mid 1940 s over 200 basic chemicals have been created for the use in
killing insects, weeds, rodents, and other organisms (Carson 43). The use of these chemicals have
spread quickly. One of these chemical pesticides is dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, better known
as DDT. DDT was first discovered in 1874 and used during WWII, to kill lice. After being used
during the war it began to be used in the agricultural world as an insecticide. The problem with this
was that although the agriculture industry was benefiting, it was benefitting at a cost to the
environment.

Origin Of Pug Colors
Pugs originated in 400 B.C in China. In China at around 700 B.C these dogs were only bred and
owned by the emperors. It is believed that there was an ancient Chinese law that prevented
anyone other than an emperor to own the breed. A person could only own a pug if it were a gift
from an emperor, illegal ownership of a pug was punishable by death. The name pug came about
when some people found a similarity between the pug s facial expression to that of a marmoset
monkey called Pug in the 1700 s. This breed is commonly seen in fawn or black color, but, the
origin of the black and silver pug colors is not known. It is suspected that the black color was
considered a birth defect, therefore many of those unfortunate pugs were put to death at

Pond Scum Analysis
Ancient Greek Philosophers, such as Aristotle and Socrates, were renown for challenging societal
norms and striving for individual achievement. Similarly, Henry David Thoreau endeavored to
experience a fulfilling life, while also questioning the contemporary values of the nineteenth
century. In 2015, Kathryn Schulz, a staff writer at The New Yorker, wrote Pond Scum, a fiery
indictment against Thoreau and his novel Walden. Schulz uses her prodigious talent for wordplay
and literary deconstruction to make her case that Thoreau was a hypocrite and a misanthrope.
Yet, Schulz s argument falls flat by focusing heavily on oversimplification. Pond Scum provides
a fresh opportunity to replace the common idea of Thoreau as a wilderness hermit, with an
image of a more complex and contradictory person to be admired. Thoreau should be praised for
attempting to balance his transcendental beliefs with the joys of living, and finding a way to
live a richer life. Unlike the caricature of the wilderness recluse, Thoreau s views on nature and
civilization were more complex. Thoreau s retreat to the woods was for both spiritual and
intellectual inspiration. Even though he spent two years in the woods, he preferred to only be
there occasionally: The poet must, from time to time, travel the loggers path and the Indian s trail,
to drink at some new and more bracing fountain of the Muses, in the far recesses of the wilderness
(Thoreau, The Maine Woods). Thoreau purposefully used the phrase time to time, to show he
preferred his time in the wilderness in mild doses. In The Maine Woods he expresses his preference
for partially cultivated country, which explains his time traveling around Concord. Thoreau found a
middle ground: permanent residence in the partially cultivated land, with occasional trips into the
city and wilderness for inspiration. Schulz belittles Walden as simply cabin porn, comparing
Thoreau s time in the woods to Laura Ingalls Wilder time spent in the woods. She believes that
Wilder lived what Thoreau merely played at, and that Wilder s stories were more harrowing.
However, Thoreau did not live, nor did he recommend, a life fully detached from society. In
fairness to Schultz, most people

Then the Alcatraz became the hardest prison to escape in United States America during that period. Now it is a tourist attraction and an enjoyable place in San Francisco. It is so weird that one place changed several times for few hundred years. But the for me I think it was even more weird when the Brazil s biggest football stadium was used once for the 2014 Brazil world cup, and now became a parking lot! By the way it is not impossible to escape the Alcatraz because five people were lost from the Alcatraz including Frank Lee Morris and the Anglins brothers. Also the book Al Capone Does My Shirts was a book that had a creative idea about the kids their. Alcatraz is a terrific island. If anyone has a chance to visit the Alcatraz they should. • 4. Love Medicine Analysis Domestic violence is present across America, but the role it has taken in the lives of Native American women is most troubling as it can be harder to track. Tribal sovereignty can at times act as a shield for violence. The independent nature of tribes as nations can impede systems established to prevent reoccurring actions of violencewithin a society. However, as domestic violenceis largely a result of societal systems, it is easiest and most thoroughly examined through narratives. Louise Erdrich provides this in Love Medicine. The multi faceted perspectives provide an analysis of the lives of Ojibwe people. As a reoccurring presence of Native American life, domestic violence is displayed with repetition, ready to be examined through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No more are women welcome to be respected shaman, religious leaders: Thus, the primary role of this education for Indian girls was to inculcate patriarchal norms and desires into Native communities, so that women would lose their places of leadership in Native communities (Smith, Boarding 90). Marie demonstrates this when she views her noteworthy accomplishments through the position her husband has attained (Erdrich 153 154). In an Anglicized society, Marie s accomplishments of raising children is negligible compared to what her husband can achieve. Marie has internalized this status and cannot see the value in anything she has done to be proud of. Gordie was raised by a woman who has lost her sense of accomplishment and might have grown to be blind to the accomplishments of the women around them. The Anglo s historical belief of gender hierarchy is problematic as negative attitudes toward women are a stronger indicator for domestic violence than alcohol (Mildorf 29). The gender roles weren t just limited to social power, but were further expressed through physical dominance. This was translated by the Native American children s experiences at boarding school, where school leaders showed dominance through physical abuse in addition to the psychological indoctrination. Sexual, physical, and emotional violence was rampant. Even when teachers were charged with abuse, boarding schools ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay On Argument Between Negros Art And Racial Mountain Argument between Negros Art and Racial Mountain The Negros Art Hokum and The Negros Artist and the Racial Mountain are well known article written by George S. Schuyler and Langston Hughes and both of the articles were published in 1926. George Schuyler and Langston Hughes both argue about Negros art in their article. George Schuyler argues that Negro art doesn t exist on his article The Negro Art Hokum, while Langston Hughes disagrees with Schuyler s article and writes a response to his article and argues that everyone has right to be them self and everyone has their own beauty. Schuyler thinks that the Negros Art doesn t exist since all the work done by African Americanwas formed on American soil so the work considers as American art, the other reason is why he thinks that the Negros Art doesn t exist is that America is mostly surrounded by white peopleso many activities and art created by African American were influence by white people so, if the African American... People can be what ever they want they can be black artist if they want or they can white artist if they want, the only thing he wanted to tell people was that be proud of who you are, don t try to be someone else who you are not. Langston Hughes gives an example where a young poet says I want to be a poet not a Negro poet Hughes thinks that the young kid wants to be white. Form my point of view the young poet said he wants to be poet but not Negro because in during 1920 s white people were like superior and they have higher chances to become well known person. Furthermore, the conditions in tube 1 and 2 allow the reaction to proceed to form ribulose 5 phosphate and the mount of product formed can be measured. With tube 1 and 2 being identical, averaging the absorbance allowed minimizing the error due to differences in enzyme concentration and contaminants within experimental procedure. Tube 3 is used to boil the enzyme extract to investigate the relationship of temperature on the rate of pentose 5 phosphate isomerase activity. Tube 4 and 5 act as controls for the absorbance and the effect of substrate and enzyme on the absorbance reading are investigate respectively. Tube 6 acts as a comparison for the known amount of product whereby the absorbance of other tubes can be compared to tube 6 in order to calculate amount of ribulose 5 phosphate present. Lastly, tube 7 acts a black for all the other tubes (1 6) because it only contains tris buffer. The effect of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Secondly, the sum of tube 4 (no enzyme) and tube 5 (no ribose 5 phosphate) were used to adjusted the absorbance of tube 1 and 2 after using tube 7. As tube 4 only takes ribose 5 phospahte and tube 5 only contains the enzyme extract, by taking the difference of the sum of these two values from the absorbance of one the full tubes (tube 1 or 2) it allows to account for the absorbance caused by ribose 5 phosphate and the enzyme extract. And the adjusted absorbance will indicate only the absorbance of the red complex formed by reaction between resorcinol hydrochloric acid and ribulose 5 phosphate. Lastly tube 3 (boiled enzyme) is not used as denatured enzyme has a different absorbance compared to active enzymes, thus tube 3 cannot be used to adjust the absorbance values (Kabacoff and Laken, ... He won and was then given a chance to decide who would fill the new president s seat in the senate. Instead of picking a member of his party, or picking the most qualified candidate he decided to accept a bribe, almost like a payment, for the seat. Now one might recognize this story. It s the story of Rod Blagojevich, the former Illinois Governor who was impeached from office under an unanimous vote, and imprisoned for 14 years on many charges including corruption. There are a few things that make news headlines what the Kardashians are doing, Donald Trump s new racist claim, and Political Scandals. Corruption is spreading so fast. • 9. The War Of The United States Army Many stories are told throughout history with a flourish and twinkle in the eye. From tales of the Roman Empire and its long suffering fall to revolutions sparked around the globe that ignite a sense of patriotism and independence in its citizens, from France to Vietnam. A story that is passed down from generation to generation, though, is the story of the Screaming Eagles, or the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army, and no other time is more ripe for storytelling about these brave men, these Band of Brothersfrom the 506th Infantry Regiment, than World War II. From simple beginnings in western Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia and New York and Arkansas, to training camp in Georgia, we hear the stories of desperately young men transformed by war, by death and destruction and small pieces of glittering hope, and we laud their bravery, their sacrifice, and their determination. Who exactly are these Band of Brothers, and what did they do that contributed so heavily to their god like status then and now? From Camp Toccoa in Georgia to the beaches of Normandy, the bitterly cold forests of Belgium, the small towns of Amsterdam, and finally to the heartland of the Third Reich, these raucous, courageous, honorable men shaped each part of the war they attended, and their legacy lives on through story and media today. It was the baby of Larry Page and Sergey Brin who were both students at Stanford during this time. The two had a unique perspective on global information. Page and Brin rarely did things the conventional way but there company was started on a basic structure. Google had added two new positions from 2004 but even those additional positions aren t the major catalysts of Google s managerial success (Stross, 2008). Page, in his first major reorganization since taking the reins as CEO earlier this week, placed executives leading the groups directly under his supervision, eliminating management layers thought to slow product development, according to sources familiar with the situation (Oreskovic. A 2011). By bringing Gen Y ers into top management teams may provide the knowledge and energy to speed up the renewal of American business leadership and American business. For startups, we already bring in adult supervision to complement the skills and knowledge of entrepreneurial kid techies. For the thousands of big companies lumbering along the 21st century, it s time to bring the little fockers into shared power. At the moment, the world is just too complex for Boomer CEOs. We need B Y team leadership. We need to follow the standard that Google has put forth. Explain senior management s role in preparing the organization for its most recent change.

Character Analysis Of Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart EA 3.2 Literary Analysis: character analysis The introduction of a new culture to another culture can be quite a challenge, as well as life changing for those individuals who decide to assimilate the new beliefs and customs. The arrival of the missionaries to Nigeria affected the the Ibo culture and introduced its people to a new set of religious beliefs and westernized customs. Chinua Achebe s novel, Things Fall Apart, portrays the contrasting reactions of people to the new culture brought to their clan by the missionaries. The new culture to which Nwoye was introduced to was completely different to what he had known all of his life, and he found beauty and peace, despite contradicting his father s opinion. But there was a young lad who had been captivated. His name was Nwoye, Okonkwo s first son. It was not the mad logic of the Trinity that captivated him. He did not understand it. It was the poetry of the new religion, something felt in the marrow. The hymn about brothers who sat in the darkness and in fear seem to answer a vague and persistent question that haunted his young soul the question of the twins crying in the bush and the question of Ikemefuna who was killed. (Achebe 147, para. 5). In this new religion, Nwoye found a refuge from all of the questions that tormented him, ever since his father participated in the killing of Ikemefuna. The white man was also their brother because they were all sons of God. (Achebe 145, para.1). This new teaching from the missionaries caught Nwoye s attention because he could not understand the reason why Ikemefuna had had to be executed, and now more than ever he was sure that Ikemefuna had been treated unfairly by the people from his village and Okonkwo. Nwoye s choices regarding his religious conversion affected him, but he was more than happy following his new beliefs. • 14. Media Influence on Public Policy Essays Policymaking is a political process which is affected by various social and economic factors (Hofferbert, 1974) and media systems play an integral role in shaping the social context in which policies are developed. Through the media, citizens learn how government policies will affect them, and governments gain feedback on their policies and programs. Media systems act as the primary channels between those who might want to influence policyand the policymakers controlling the scope of political discourse and regulating the flow of information. Textbook policymaking follows an orderly sequence where problems are identified, solutions devised, policies adopted, implemented, and lastly evaluated (Mazamanian Sabatier, 1989). In reality,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This effect does not refer to the sole influence of CNN on policymaking, but rather on the power of global media networks to determine political processes through selective coverage of certain issues. This is particularly important, as most of the public rely on the media for access to foreign policy information (Brown Vincent, 1995). Gilboa notes that: The [CNN] concept was initially suggested by politicians and officials haunted by the Vietnam media myth, the confusion of the post Cold War era, and the communications revolution. Despite evidence to the contrary (Hallin, 1986), many leaders still believe that critical television coverage caused the American defeat in Vietnam. Since then, many have viewed the media as an adversary to government policies in areas such as humanitarian intervention and international negotiation. (Gilboa, 2005, p. 37) To determine whether the media has the power to influence policymaking, Robinson (2000) devised the policy media interaction model (See Table 1), using the theoretical framework of press state relations in the United States outlined by Hallin (1986). This model was applied to a number of US humanitarian interventions, which took place in the 1990s. The results showed, that critical reporting by the media with a strong pro intervention frame had a strong role in shaping the US government policies when policymakers were uncertain about their actions but a weak role when government policies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Explaining Fast Fashion How fast fashion is affecting the environment is a very serious topic since this type of consumerism in the United States is heavy on supply and demand, and because of that shoppers want it all and want it now which is basically fast fashions motto. The way to make these pieces of clothing heavily rely on cheap materials that can be made quickly, so that is polyester and cotton being made in big factories that emit out toxins into our earth. Cotton being one of the most used fabrics takes a lot to be made into a single garment. Uzbekistan which is the 6th biggest producer of cotton had faced many conflicts during production since cotton uses so much water to be made it has dried up the 4th largest lake the Aral Sea because of how much we need to produce cotton fashion. Jung s approach rested on the idea of psychic energy and this energy formed the basis to personality. Three common principles of psychic energy included the Opposition principle, where Jung viewed conflict between polar psychological forces as the source of energy in behavior motivation. For example, the greater the conflict in one s life, the greater the energy to grow and overcome that conflict. Another aspect of psychic energy rested on the idea of equivalence. Nurture in a peculiar manner. Jung believed human beings possessed the innate need and primary motivation for becoming their true selves, also known as, Individuation and Transcendence. However, there does exist environmental factors that play into catalyzing our Individuation, but also thwarting our ultimate goal in life. Such thwarting forces exist in social pressures that force us to be pseudo selves and inhibit us from becoming our true manifestations of our personal human energies. In terms of Determinism vs. Free Will, I believe Jung held on to a moderate stance of both aspects. Deterministically, like mentioned before, Carl Jung believed we each have an innate drive towards individuation and we inherit prior human experiences that shape our behavior. However, I do believe Jung held a notion of free will by inferring that humans individuate by choice, especially when freely accepting the persona, anima/animus, and shadow archetypes that lead to self individuation (Schultz Schultz, 2017, p. ... He promotes this as the idea of living consciously as a healthy aspect of selfesteem in a person s mental abilities and respect for reality. He applies his theory of living consciously to specific aspects of life such as relationships, parenting, and in the workplace. He explains to use how we may be able to live consciously and how we can shift our focus from consciously living; the flipping the switch as mentioned earlier. He explains that what can help us all live this way is by knowing what we are doing while we are doing it. Though this may seem like a very simple task but one that would require some discipline. One of the interesting aspects of Branden s work is that he walks us through situations we would encounter in our everyday lives and then has the reader ask themselves questions like How can we be more conscious in this area? and How can we tell we are doing right? This helps the reader feel more connected with his writing. They may be able to envision how they can live more conscious and their life and become more aware of how to living this way. Some of the topics Branden really highlighted throughout his book was the importance of reason and the commitment of awareness. But he s does this in such a desirable approach, he does not try to validate his points instead he examines life starting from child and shows how things in life could have affected your way to practice the principles to live in this state. He writes about the lives of himself and other involved in his life and puts us in situations showing that to be more aware of the reality around you can make yourself stand out to others who bury themselves in unconsciousness. Yet his way of displaying this message is so approachable because he discourages the common idea that reason rather than experience is the key to knowledge and he also speaks to you through your experiences that really make you think. It is this system that welcomes thousands and thousands of immigrants a year with open arms and the idea of a better life. This idea however, is sometimes not always as easy as it is thought to be. Though Canadais an amazing country for immigrants to start a new life and get better education, health care, and job opportunities, immigrant families are met with many challenges before they are able to become accustom to their new life. It is important to understand the true difficulty of the Immigrant Experience and the impact it has on families including adults as well as children. If it is easier to understand the difficulties immigrant families go through in search of a better life in Canada there can be more resources made to help them. It is important to take into consideration each individual difficulty that is faced and properly research each factor in order to have a better understanding on how to make the complete economic and societal integration of immigrants happen faster. There is a number of categories that relate to the integration of immigrants into society and a number of steps they must take to be a part of Canadian society. In order to understand these steps they have to be thoroughly researched. Language Barriers When immigrants first step into Canadas borders the most obvious challenge they have to face is the barrier that is set immediately due to language differences. Canadas official languages include both English and French these languages arguably are the most difficult languages to learn. In many ways, for immigrants the first step to both economic and societal immigration is learning English. Without learning English and proper English literacy skills there is little chance of getting a well paying job, making connections with people in Canadian society and overall, without English immigrants are unable to communicate with others around them in society during everyday life. Their ability to transport you to another world for two hours and make you care about people that aren t real is the most unrecognized form of magic. I m not a critic, so any movie will do, as long as I m interested enough to watch it. Many movies stick in my mind, whether it s a hilarious joke, an awesome fight scene, or simply a unique plot. There is one movie, however, which stands out among them all. A filmI had never heard of before viewing called Prisoners. From start to finish, I was invested in the characters and their goals. I felt their fear and desperation. I was in the movie, not sitting on my living room couch. The movie Prisoners was suspenseful, chilling, and memorable, so there is no doubt in my mindthat it is my favorite movie, and I will likely remember it for the rest of my life. The backbone of any good movie is the story. The story is the rope that the movie uses to drag you in, to make you feel for the characters, to make you more than a simple movie viewer. Prisoners was about Keller Dover, an average man with a teenage son and a young daughter. They have friends down the street, another family just like them. Life isn t perfect, but it s far from anything worth complaining about. Then. the unthinkable happens. The young girl goes missing. From that moment on, both the police and Keller search for her, but they use methods that are drastically different from each other. This poses a question to the audience: How far would you go for the people you love? The way the movie portrayed the desperation of Mr. Dover and the detective assigned to the case was perfect. As time went on, doubt and fear began to take over the minds of everyone involved. As they mystery was slowly unraveled, many twists and turns prevented the solution from being obvious. I was constantly thinking about what might have happened, and I was still nowhere near to close. The emotions felt by everyone who feared for this innocent girl and wondered where she was exploded on the TV screen. It was suspenseful, heart wrenching, and everything you could want from a movie. Transparency and accountability these are two fundamental words which help in instituting a system of good governance in any country. This issue was very controversial, but before being able to understand how the case affected the use of racial gerrymandering, one has to understand what gerrymandering is. Every state is made up of different districts, and each district is entitled to their own votes when it comes to elections. Gerrymandering is the manipulation of district boundaries in a way that creates a political advantage in elections by putting a large group of people who are likely to vote for a certain party in one district. In the case of Miller v. Johnson 1995, only one congressional district in Georgia was primarily African American between 1980 and 1990. However, in 1990, Georgia s black population was at 27%, and many African Americans felt that they were being underrepresented. Georgia s General Assembly was prompted to re draw district boundaries in such a way that the black population would be more represented in terms of electoral votes. Two drafts of boundaries were created that were subsequently denied by the Justice Department. Finally, a draft was approved and an additional black majority district was created. The Imitation Game Historical Inaccuracies The Imitation Game is a 2014 American historical drama film directed by Morten Tyldum and written by Graham Moore, which is based on the biography Alan Turing: The Enigma by Andrew Hodges. I like how Alan Turingis characterized by the filmmaker and how his personality changes throughout the movie. In general, I think that historical movies are a great way to tell history as long as the historical events are portrayed close to the historical record. In my opinion, it is a good way to illustrate history to students because history can be pretty dry if not taught correctly, and movies help to make it more entertaining. However, historical movies only show a certain civilization or event, which makes them limiting in conveying the whole economic and global effects of the events portrayed. If historical movies are combined with informing lectures and textbook readings, the whole history can be conveyed very accurately to students, and the films make it more fun to study ... As tuition prices continue to grow at a quicker pace than housing prices, consumer prices and average hourly wages, it is becoming harder and harder for the average American family to afford going to college. What factors have been driving this large rise in tuition prices? This thesis aims to set up a supply and demandframework to analyze the various forces that may be driving the price of higher educationto rise above the Consumer Price Index over time. After defining long run supply and demand for the higher education market, this thesis addresses economy wide factors and summarizes the findings of Robert Archibald and David Feldman in Why Does College Cost So Much?. Next, this thesis examines higher education specific factors and specifically tests the hypothesis: The long run supply curve for higher educations is theoretically vertical. The inability for supply to meet the increasing demand for higher education results in a supply and demand imbalance that drives up the price of higher education. After looking at both economy wide and higher education specific factors, it is apparent that slow productivity growth and large wage increases for professors (cost disease) and an unresponsive total enrollment (supply) in the face of rising demand are largely driving the increase in the price of higher education. The use these chemicals has proven to be more costly than beneficial. The use of chemicals has failed to take many ethical values into consideration. One that I will discuss today is the ethic of Utilitarianism. Utilitarianism s claim the purpose of morality is to make the world a better place (Ethics S14). If utilitarianism was practiced more than we wouldn t have such a big problem with the use of chemical pesticides. I will start by stating a crucial fact that has changes the life of nature as it was once known. One of these chemical pesticides is dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, better known as DDT. DDT was first discovered in 1874 and used during WWII, to kill lice. After being used during the war it began to be used in the agricultural world as an insecticide. The problem with this was that although the agriculture industry was benefiting, it was benefitting at a cost to the environment. There ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Origin Of Pug Colors Pugs originated in 400 B.C in China. In China at around 700 B.C these dogs were only bred and owned by the emperors. It is believed that there was an ancient Chinese law that prevented anyone other than an emperor to own the breed. A person could only own a pug if it were a gift from an emperor, illegal ownership of a pug was punishable by death. The name pug came about when some people found a similarity between the pug s facial expression to that of a marmoset monkey called Pug in the 1700 s. • 54. Pond Scum Analysis Ancient Greek Philosophers, such as Aristotle and Socrates, were renown for challenging societal norms and striving for individual achievement. Similarly, Henry David Thoreau endeavored to experience a fulfilling life, while also questioning the contemporary values of the nineteenth century. In 2015, Kathryn Schulz, a staff writer at The New Yorker, wrote Pond Scum, a fiery indictment against Thoreau and his novel Walden. Schulz uses her prodigious talent for wordplay and literary deconstruction to make her case that Thoreau was a hypocrite and a misanthrope. Yet, Schulz s argument falls flat by focusing heavily on oversimplification. Pond Scum provides a fresh opportunity to replace the common idea of Thoreau as a wilderness hermit, with an image of a more complex and contradictory person to be admired. Thoreau should be praised for attempting to balance his transcendental beliefs with the joys of living, and finding a way to live a richer life. Unlike the caricature of the wilderness recluse, Thoreau s views on nature and civilization were more complex. Thoreau s retreat to the woods was for both spiritual and intellectual inspiration. Even though he spent two years in the woods, he preferred to only be there occasionally: The poet must, from time to time, travel the loggers path and the Indian s trail, to drink at some new and more bracing fountain of the Muses, in the far recesses of the wilderness (Thoreau, The Maine Woods). Thoreau purposefully used the phrase time to time, to show he preferred his time in the wilderness in mild doses. In The Maine Woods he expresses his preference for partially cultivated country, which explains his time traveling around Concord. Thoreau found a middle ground: permanent residence in the partially cultivated land, with occasional trips into the city and wilderness for inspiration. Schulz belittles Walden as simply cabin porn, comparing Thoreau s time in the woods to Laura Ingalls Wilder time spent in the woods. She believes that Wilder lived what Thoreau merely played at, and that Wilder s stories were more harrowing. However, Thoreau did not live, nor did he recommend, a life fully detached from society. In fairness to Schultz, most people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
