California Drought Research Paper
One of the biggest world problems in California is water and how bad of a drought we are in. In
2011 our water level was average as we move on in the years you can see a dramatic change from
2011 to 2015. Also during the time from 2011 to 2015 63 trillion water was wasted according to
an article by Nick Kirkpatrick. The water has become such a great concern that Californiais now
starting to put water restrictions for residents that live in california. Such as only being able to
water 2 times a week, will be charge if seen wasting water such as car washes, broken sprinkler, etc.
Although there is really no way of bringing water or forcing it in California I have ideas that we
can work with from what we have already.

Importance of Religion in A Lesson Before You Die
A Fatalistic Predisposition before Settling In
In an 1973 interview conducted by Forrest Ingraham and Barbara Steinberg, Ernest J. Gaines states
that although he is not devoutly religious, it is his belief that for you to survive, you must have
something greater than what you are, whether it s religion or communism, or capitalism or
something else, but it must be something above what you are (Gaines and Lowe 52). When applied
to the narrator of his subsequent work, A Lesson Before Dying, it would seem that this principle is
reflected in the one thing Grant Wiggins initially holds above himself. I refer, of course, to Grant s
anticipation of the day that he will leave Bayonne in order to start a new life elsewhere, ideally in
the company ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, as Grant recounts the events of the trial in a degree of detail that suggests more than mere
inference, this issue becomes more ambiguous. From Grant s description of his aunt and Miss
Emma s thoughts, perceptions and behavior in the courtroom, to his exacting portrayal of Jefferson
s story, including details as specific as the type of wine, Apple White (Gaines 4), which prompts the
shooting, as recounted by Jefferson through Grant in third person, to the roughly two pages of
direct quotation that present the defense s closing arguments, we are left with such a complete
account of the trial that it is virtually impossible to believe Grant is not embellishing upon his own
assumptions. Yet with the closing lines of this chapter, Death by electrocution. The governor would
set the date (Gaines 9), the credibility of Grant s implicit prediction is authenticated, leaving the
reader with the impression that since the conclusion implied at the beginning is valid, and since the
premises seem plausible, that these premises must at least be grounded in a degree of truth. From
the outset, the marked tendency for Grant s prognostications to ultimately transpire

Classifications of Restaurants
Restaurant Classification Restaurants are found throughout the United States as well as other
countries. Restaurants are found in many different places such as street corners in mobile
businesses, buffets found in mid sized towns and cities, as well as upscale restaurants that are
most always found in larger and more populated areas. All of these places serve one purpose in
common; to aide to the desired foodcravings of countless people. A person might say that there
are no noticeable differences of each type of restaurant, but hidden beneath their common goals
are various differences that set each apart. Mobile food businesses have become very popular in
middle class areas and serve people of all kinds. Although the food may seem... Show more content

These types of restaurants are found mainly in big cities where they can charge people hundreds
of dollars for their meals. The meals may be smaller in size, but superior in quality. These places
have a fancy and elegant feel to them. Their customers wear formal clothing and eat their meals by
candlelight. The food is made of better quality ingredients so it is not unusual for food to take
much longer to be prepared and finally arrive at the customers table. Most of the

U.s National Debt And History
US national debt and history
The national debt of US is the amount owed by the federal government. In the past decade, $12.7
trillion have been added to the US national debt and at the end of fiscal year of 2016, the amount
is expected to be approximately $22.4 trillion including federal, state and local. Debt per citizen
will be over $63.000 and debt per taxpayer is about $163.000. The largest budget is medical care
which is about $1.5 trillion and mostly introduced by Obama s administration and government
policies.
The total US government debt was equally divided between federal and local debt at the
beginning of 20th century and it was less than 20% of GDP. While after the First World War, the
federal debt surged to 32% of GDP. Then,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Dissolution of the Soviet Union signaled the end of the Cold War and thus the US
government debt fell due to the decrease military budget as well as increased taxes in 1990s.
During last 2 decades, the US national debt started increasing again which could attributed to the
increasing spending on the war against global terror, bail out the banks and the budget of the plan
to recover the economy after the crisis in 2008. And finally the US national debt reached 120.6%
of GDP in 2014 and still kept increasing till today.
The surge in national debt during Bush and Obama administrations
It is true that there was a surge in US national debt in past decade, the total federal debt was
reaching 105% of GDP in 2012 which is the historically highest level since the Second World War.
Although the crest existed in the president term of Obama, however, the rise of debt started long
before Obama took office in the While House.
In fact, after the national debt decline at the end of 20th century, it resumed increasing with Bush
s first budget in fiscal 2002. And later on in 2007, the rise accelerated as the economy slid into the
worst recession since the Great Depression. From figure 1 we could clearly see that Figure 1
Obama did a much better job of limiting the deficit. On the other hand, Bush made it went from

A Few Good Men Plot Summary
An orphaned young girl teams up with a former enforcer, as they are pursued by a ruthless Mexican
mobster.
STORY COMMENTS
THE STRENGTH OF TEN MEN is a captivating action, thriller. The strength of this story is no
doubt the complex and highly compelling characters that drive the plot. The core characters are
thrust into a harrowing life and death situation where the stakes are extremely high.
The script offers intriguing twist and turns. There are solid themes about trust, family, believing, and
faith.
The idea of a young orphan girl teaming up with an enforcer is an appealing plotline. There s a
smart twist when the enforcer turns out to be the person who killed the young girl s father. In
addition, a ruthless Mexican mobster hunts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the most part, it sounds crisp and has a nice rhythm. The voices of the characters are consistent
with their personalities and reveals information about them.
The only area that should be polished is the running gag about whores. This is still overdone. It s
funny in the beginning, but then loses its charm. The discussion about big dicks isn t all that
engaging.
The overall tension works best in the opening. The conflict and tension in the second act can be
stronger if there s more of an urgency and ticking clock. The current pace hinders this. The tension
doesn t enhance again until the midpoint.
The script is professionally presented although there are a few minor typos (pages 4, 45, and 54).
Also, the character of Dennis introduced twice.
SUMMARY MARKETABILITY
The plot is engaging and merits consider with revisions, especially in the first half of the script
regarding the goal, tension, pace, and action.
The strengths of this script are the characters and they can attract talent.
The action is also well crafted.
The script should be marketable in both the domestic and international market.
The script should appeal to the mainstream action, thriller audience.

Globalization
Globalization: the Turkey case II)Introduction The term globalization has a strong emotional
charge. Some see globalization as a beneficial process which will contribute decisively to global
economic development inevitable and irreversible. Others are hostile to this process, if not fear,
believing that it increases inequality within and between nations, threatens employment and living
standards and thwarts social progress. The objective of this study, which is an overview of certain
aspects of globalization, is to indicate how a country can take advantage of this process, while
realistically assessing the potential and risks. That globalization offers great opportunities to

As GDP has more than tripled to 772 billion U.S. dollars in 2011 against 231 billion in 2002,
GDP per capita has soared over the same period, from 3 500 to 10 444 U.S. dollars.
Demonstrable Progress of the Turkish economy also strongly encouraged foreign trade. Exports

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Single Parenting...
A single parent could feel like a mouse racing on a wheel, where she/he is continually running,
trying to maintain a proper household and raise healthy children. This is a statement from Victoria
Thompson. I do believe in this statement because for me single parents, unlike the married couple,
are having a hard time in dividing their time with their work and taking good care of their kids. So,
single parenting faces more disadvantages like the experience of economic hardship, negative
judgment of the community and the psychological effects on rearing children that make the family
and relation cycle really complicated.
Single parenting is about having a child without living with a partner or spouse. In historical events,
the major reason ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, their children may suffer bullying because of having only one parent. This can affect the
children s way of living. Kids who are bullied can experience negative physical, school, and
mental health issues. The child will not be able to do what he wants because he will be afraid to
socialize with other children. Second, a child with a single parent can compare their selves to the
other children who have married parents. A child may feel envious about not having a father/mother
to guide him/her. According to Paul R. Amato, Children living with single parents are exposed to
more stressful experiences and circumstances than being children living with continuously married
parents. This statement proves that single parents are having a hard time raising their children.
Lastly, the children living with a single parent can have a hard time expressing their feelings.
Children who don t see or feel the act of love between his/her parent can have a hard time
expressing their feelings with other person. Due to unseen acts of love, the child may be confused
on how he/she will show their feelings with other person. So instead of showing it, they are going
to hide their feeling with their self

Martin Luther King J. And Malcolm X Essay
The 1950 s and 1960 s was an era of major conflict between African Americans and whites in the
United States which led to discrimination and disorder in the states. African Americans were
fortunate to have outstanding leaders who fought for a difference and change during the Civil
Rights movement. Both Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X were two powerful individuals
who gave hope to African Americans and oppressed people in the United States. They are both well
known individuals for their Civil Rights protesting. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X both
spread the message about African Americans having power and strength in the center of all the
hatred and discrimination around them. Although both leaders had the same dream and goal of...

One of Martin Luther King Jr. s greatest civil right acts accomplishment was the march on
Washington on August 28, 1963 where more than 20,000 people came to march from Washington
to the Lincoln memorial in Washington D.C. In the March for Jobs and Freedom in Washington
D.C. 1963 King gave his famous I Have a Dream speech that spoke of his hope for equality for all
Americans. Martin Luther King Jr. wanted all the races to come together for the hatred,
discrimination, and violence to be put to an end. Beyond the 1963 March on Washington, King
and his followers used a variety of nonviolent tactics to achieve equality through grassroots
activism, including the Montgomery bus boycott of 1955, the student sin ins of 1960, the Freedom
Rides of 1961, the 1963 demonstrations in Birmingham, and the Selma March of 1965. These
provided King with the opportunity to demonstrate the power of nonviolence in destroyed legal
segregation in American life (Cone 176). The 1964 Civil Rights Act and the 1965 Voting Rights
Bill showed the success of King s nonviolent approach.
Even though Martin Luther King, Jr. worked with white leaders to try and achieve civil rights for
African Americans, he knew that the African Americancommunity was getting frustrated with the
way things were going. Dr. King knew that violence was a threat if change didn t happen quickly
during the Civil Rights Movement. He told President Kennedy: if something isn t done to give the

Shakespeare-In-The-East Church Research Paper
Recently, I ventured out to the business district to see St. Dunstan in the East Church. It was a
church built in Saxon times, later restored, but burned down in the London fire. In 1697, Sir
Christopher Wren rebuilt the church. Then, it was bombed out during World War II. Today, only
the exterior and steeple remain. However, the initiative conservationist groups took to turn it into
a garden was magnificent and reminded me of Shakespeare s New Place in Stratford upon Avon.
All of the interiors are gone from the building, including any glass panes that were in the window,
but it is a small garden for the public to enter for free. That s one thing that I ve noticed about the
United Kingdom: that conservation groups tend to develop a space into a park or garden, reviving
the remains of older historical buildings. It also maintains the historical significance it has to the
city surrounding it.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dunstan in the East was quite small, we decided to find All Hallows by The Tower Church, the
oldest church in England. The church is still functioning and the land it was built on has been
religious grounds dating back 1300 years. It was destroyed in World War II, but rebuilt as a new
meeting place for God and man. The space had been developed to hold services, but also house a
museum in the crypt and to hold art. The art inside features new architectural developments in
London. However, to commemorate the Great Fire that occurred in the late 1600s, the main
collage piece created by Victoria Burgher featured fire over the new city pictures. The heritage that
the city carries is super interesting, especially because a lot of the commemorations are displayed
in churches across the United Kingdom. It s interesting to see that art and religion can both be
appreciated, but do not have to correlate with each

Compare And Contrast Indus River Valley Civilization
Although the Indus River Valley and Yellow River civilizations emerged close to the same time,
and upon the same continent, they didn t advance in the same way. While there are many
similarities that should have caused for relatable civilizations, the Indus River Valley civilization
quickly advanced with written records, ceramics, copper, an advanced sewer system, highly
populated cities, and their city was built in a grid like pattern. However, the Yellow River
civilizationhad some advancements like clay pottery, bronze and wooden tools, and silk clothing,
but it doesn t appear to have made fierce progress like the Indus River. This likely had to do with
the rivers they developed by and trade.

Natural Disasters In Spike Lee s When The Levees Broke
Disaster is no stranger to the city of New Orleans. Its unique geographic placement below sea level
makes the sinking city suitable for massive flooding. Its un American reputation, as discussed in
class, has created many local social issues that currently affects the city s demographic environment
today. Although any form of disaster can occur anywhere, I believe in the notion that any response
that New Orleans may give in relation to its disasters is best understood through the people and
historical implications of those who have served as an at fault, underlying factor of the end result
that its citizens have faced.
New Orleans has been notable in recent history for its natural disasters, like hurricanes. The city
has been historically planned and built to protect it from an environment that may endanger its
citizens and the city landscape. However, whenever a natural disaster occurs, the question of how
its damage could have been minimized always appears after the fact. These are events that happen
to people outside of their control, but I personally feel that sometimes specific people are ... Show

From that film, I learned about the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927, which left a permanent stain in
the fabric of black New Orleans memory. Managing to set off about 30 tons of dynamite on a
levee in an effort to protect New Orleans from the flooding Mississippi, their mission was a
success, preventing New Orleans from suffering serious damage. However, the decision resulted
in severe flooding in an area in New Orleans that largely served a black population. This incident

community was betrayed by those that are considered leaders in the

The Republican Party And Wendy Davis For The Democrat Party
One of the biggest Governor races in Texas history, the race was between Attorney General, Greg
Abbot and State Senator, Wendy Davis, Greg Abbot for the Republican Party and Wendy Davis for
the Democrat Party. Both candidates have a lot to offer to the state of Texas, and it was a very
nasty battle with many campaign segments bringing the opponent down, or trying to at least.
Attorney General Greg Abbott will take the win and become the TexasGovernor, winning by twenty
one points. His victory against Wendy Davis was worse than any Democrat has suffered since

Greg Abbott (Heinz). Throughout the speech he never mentioned tactics on how he won the

If you were to watch the speech, the viewer could easily tell he felt very honored, as anyone

his 20s and an oak tree fell on him, and paralyzed him from the waist down. You could see the
emotion in his eyes, and his shaken voice when he was talking about this subject, and that it was a
subject that was very sentimental to him. Texas is a state that provides many opportunities to many
people, it does not matter what race you are, if you have any disabilities, or how much education

they just cannot give up. Governor Abbott mentions that we can provide more

Conflict Resolution and the Australian Contract Law
Conflict Resolution and Australian Contract Law
Introduction: Australian contract law is based on Common Law as originated from the British
tradition. However, as noted by Australian Government (2012), said law is currently under review
and subject to evolution in the near future. This will be some relevance to the discussion hereafter,
which considers the implications of a contract between the parties of JG (the represented) and
ITMS (the representation) and further consider the implications of a conflict arising over this
contract.
Conflict Experience: Briefly, the conflict experience delineated in the case history concerns the
signing of Australian women s tennis player JG with management and marketing firm ITMS with
the intention that the latter would help secure marketing and sponsorship opportunities for the
former. As JG continued to perform well in her responsibilities as a rising tennis star elevating her
rank and achieving a relatively singular status in the field of Australian women s tennis her
management firm failed to capitalize on the opportunities newly available to her. According to the
case history, in 2010, JG had her most successful year on the Women s Tennis Association (WTA)
tour finishing the year ranked 42 in the world. During the period of 2010, no further business
opportunities were presented to JG by ITMS. Meanwhile, Australia s two other top players were

Thanks To Personal Computing Developing Into A Revolutionary
Thanks to personal computing developing into a revolutionary innovation in the early 1970s, 3D
printing was made possible in the late 1980 s. 3D printing technology was at one point only
available for the business elites because of its high cost and limited production by few companies.
This technology in the the late 1980s began as a new additive manufacturing, changing and
speeding up what use to be subtractive manufacturing. Subtractive manufacturing relied on tooling
and assembly lines since it began, 3D printinghowever made it possible for companies to fabricate
prototypes on demand. However 3D printing is no longer limited to manufacturing, but has

Stephanie Crawford says SLA Printers work by a focused beam of UV rays on the surface of the
object to be recreated. The CAD designed object is filled with what s called resin
(photopolymer). When the light hits the resin, the liquid hardens to form a high resolution 3D
model of the object that you designed. Hull, a few years later co found 3D Systems Corporation,
one of the first companies to sell a high end 3D printer and still is one of the leading companies
with this technology today. Charles Hull s first RP system, the SLA 1, was revealed in 1987
and quickly followed ongoing testing until this system was sold in 1988. As always after new
technology is discovered, there is always new competition, in 1987, Carl Deckard, who at the time
was working for University of Texas, filed a patent in the US for the Selective Laser Sintering

resin, you can use powdered material in the instead. SLS made it possible to use a variety of
materials ceramics, nylon, aluminum, glass and steel or silver. In 1989 another new Printing
process was invented by Scott Crump, he too co found a leading company today Stratasys Inc.

Drug Policy And Efforts Of Control Substance Abuse
Drug policy and efforts to control substance abuse have resulted in human rights violations in
many countries. 27 million people were problem drug users in 2013 (United Nations Office on
Drugs and Crime, 2013), representing a vulnerable and marginalised group (Petty, 2012). The need
for human rights to be at the forefront of any debate, policy or legislation regarding the war on
drugs is heightened by human rightsabuses resulting from such action namely torture and ill
treatment by police, extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detention, and denial of essential medicines and
basic health services (Human Rights Watch, 2009). The term drug user can be interpreted in the
context of law, culture and science, making the enactment of effective, harm preventative
legislation difficult. However, evidence of a lack of acknowledgement of fundamental human rights
in drug reform has lead to such rights violations, often stemming from the belief that drug addicts
are incapable of self governance and determination... extreme measurers are necessary to save them
from themselves (Petty, 2012). This essay will discuss human rights theories and mechanisms in
relation to drug reform and its associated violations of human rights.
The right to life, liberty, and health and equality before the law, as addressed in the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights (1948), are perhaps the most fundamental rights that have been
compromised by drug policy and reform. The INPUD (International Network

article states that not much research has been done, but most of the research has proven that
physical exercise helps neuropathways in the brain and rebuilding brain cells for healthier
development. This is essential for children and adolescents as they grow, and physical activity and
exercise is proving to be a huge factor determining many children and their future. A few studies,
however, provide evidence that exercise may facilitate specific types of cognitive functioning.
Children s executive functions appear particularly sensitive to exercise interventions,
(Tomporowski, 2012).
Kraft s article states that there is increasing evidence over the years that physical activity has a
direct and significant effect on cognitive function, as explained in the article. This article talks
about the research done on both animals and humans to prove that exercise is looked at the cause of

Similarities Between Ordinary People And Ordinary People
Think back to time where a family member or friend did something that was regrettable or could
cause guilt in the future. In the two novels, Ordinary People by Judith Guest and, The Book
Thief by Markus Zusak, a character either wants to embrace their past or wants to move on and
forget it. The first story, Ordinary People by Judith Guest, the character, Conrad wants to forget
the past and move on because of the guilt that carries with every memory. In the other novel, The
Book Thief, the character of Leisel wants to go back to her past and bring it back. Both
characters have a different view of their past, which affect their feelings towards it. The theme of
the story is developed through these feelings and attitude. The two main examples are, Conrad s
opening feelings in the beginning of Ordinary People, and Liesel s determination to go back to
the past. In Conrad s shoes he wants to forget the past, while Liesel wants it back Right as the
story of Liesel Meminger opens up, she is on her way to leaving her past behind and starting a
new life. The young german girl in the novel, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, is moving from
her home with her parents to a foster home in Molching to start a new life. She is leaving her
family because they were caught with having communist s affairs in a time where that was
strictly enforced as illegal. Tragedy strikes Liesel as the first sign of her wanting to go back to
her past shows, Liesel s brother, Werner, dies on the train to their new home. Later on in the
book Liesel has nightmares of her late brother s passing because she saw Death take the life right
out of his eyes. Later on in the story, the Huberman s learn that Liesel does not have the ability to
read or write, so they begin to teach her. When she can read and write well enough, she begins to
reach back into her past by writing a letter to her mother. But, heartbreak is brought with this later
when her parents have to break it to her that the letter will most likely never reach her birth
mother. Hans, who has been nothing but kind to Liesel since her arrival, says, You know, Liesel?
I nearly wrote you a reply and signed your mother s name. [...] But I couldn t. I couldn t bring
myself. (Zusak 16.1). This is

The Importance Of A Unified Communication Application
Communication within an organization is very important for keeping people informed, updated and
help move the organization forward. Cost of operations within a company is the top item that
companies work to reduce. A unified communication application is a means to help in the reduction
of operating costs.
A unified communications application like Skype has three main functions and a couple additional
abilities that can be used in a one to one interaction or a conference type interaction. Skype has
the ability to provide instant messenger, audio and/or video to users and provides a means for
multiple participants. The three features can be used simultaneously or in different combinations.
The instant messenger feature can be used for a quick note to another user or users and the
recipient(s) do not need to be at the computer when the message is sent (Figure 1). The time
needed to send an instant messenger message is real time which is much less than a normal
email, which reduces time. Skype instant messenger comes in handy when a user does not want
to interrupt a meeting by calling or wasting time going by Alice s office, Bob could send a quick
instant messenger note to Alice to see if they are available for a discussion.
The audio function is similar to a standard phone call with one exception. The normal operation
entails retrieving or typing in the phone number of a person s office, home, mobile or Skype
number and pressing the off hook button just like most

Portfolio Project
We changed our strategy after the first interim report. We realized that it is hard to use bottom up
approach to invest by looking into a particular stock to invest. Right now, we are trying to use top
down approach to invest in our portfolio. Top down approach is a method of analysis that involves
looking at the big picture first, and then analyzing the details of sector or industry then towards the
company or stocks. By first analyzing the overall picture, such as a macroeconomic trend, we can
start narrowing potential companies to invest.

According to the data and the graph we worked out, we have outperformed Nasdaq from 10/22
11/26 and ours outperformed both on 11/14. Please refer to our graph 1 for details. The reason we
think S amp;P 500 and Nasdaq could be a good benchmarks is that there are many tech stocks,
consumer goods and service stocks and energy stocks just as ours does. I think one of the reason
our portfolio hasn t performed well enough is because our portfolio has a potential correlations and
hasn t been diversified enough.
The stocks we picked are all that we know about, which we think has the potential to grow in the
future. We had Nokia, Apple, Google, At amp;T, Cisco, Intel for Tech stock, and we had RDS,
ETP, Duke, for energy, and Wells Fargo amp;co and Coca Cola for consumer goods and services.
There are some particular stocks that we d like to talk about: I, Lijing Lu, actually believe that
Nokia is going to perform well in two month when I first started trading because its release of

To what extent can preparedness and planning mitigate the effects of tropical revolving storms?
(40 marker) A tropical revolving storm is a term that covers hurricanes, tropical cyclones,
typhoons and willy willies. These intense low pressure weather systems are associated with
catastrophic wind speeds averaging at 120kmph and torrential rainfall. Tropical revolving storms
are huge and extremely violent extending to about 500km in diameter. They occur in the tropics
and the sub tropics and form over the oceans where sea surface temperatures are above 27 C.

Structural approaches may also be necessary to protect coastal areas. Preparedness includes the
education of populations. People need to know the dangers and what they can do to avoid them.
In Florida, evacuation routes have been prepared and cyclone shelters are clearly signed and
posted. Planning includes land use planning. This regulation is used to reduce the vulnerability of
people and property so for example, only low value land uses (recreational) can occupy coastal
strips, the areas most vulnerable to a storm. In Northeast Florida, coastal properties have been
rallied above the ground on stilts and have non residential functions on the ground (storage). This
means that hazards like the storm surges do not impact the people and less damage occurs to
infrastructure. Warning systems put in place to predict incoming storms inform the public about
them. This is linked with the effectiveness of the government and how developed the country is. A
less developed country is less likely to have the money to be able to afford such technology and
equipment meaning that no matter what form of planning or preparedness occurs, mitigation is less
likely to be achieved. More developed countries have the money to install advanced technology and
equipment to ensure that their population can be warned meaning that lives can be saved. In late

The Logistic Views Of King Philip King II
King Philip the II was an absolute monarch who centralized the government of Spain. Before the
reign of Philip II, the medieval era crept through the kingdom of Spain and slowly turned the
country over. The medieval era was a time where was was given away to the greedy hands of
many, but only to those who desired it for a urge of evil desire. The monarchy who once was the
way of the people was belittled, and almost no more. Even though they had a say for the law,
they used this power for the tyrannical abuse of religious affairs, and persecuted thousands not
following in the ways of christianity. The darkness that once swept across the kingdom of Spain
was pushed back by a man of logistic perspective. King Philip II was a man who led his country
to a golden age, furthering his people to push advancements forwards and enhance their way of
living. Philip took the nobles by storm, and contained their greedy ways by showing his
absolutism views of how a monarchy should rule the land. Although Philip II did so much for his
country, he shallowly let his kingdom perish through hard debt and taxes as well as his inherited
way of persecuting religious innocents. Before the reign of King Philip the II the land was
distraught and wounded as well as many other kingdoms along the world. The monarchy within the
kingdom thought it logistic to give land for fake loyalty, as this loyalty the people promised was
fake. Eventually things would fall apart, and time for these kingdoms that led

Over 27.1 million people in the U.S. were reported in drug use. An eighth of them people either
got injured or passed away. This is the reason we drug test at jobs. It helps keep the dangers away
from people and businesses. Our society as a whole will improve by being a lot safer. There will be
less shootings and catastrophes due to drugs. That s the purpose of drugtesting at jobs.
At work workers always have to be doing their job the correct way. For the employer they have

require drugs tests which means it will continue to lower. There is a 500% increase on

stop doing them and go on the right way in life. The purpose of the drug test is to get people to
stop doing them so everyone can be safer and more productive.
Snyder 1
There is at least a casualty a day caused by drugs. More Americans died from drug overdose in
2016 then died in the entirety of the Vietnam War. (Lopez). Innocent people die from them that
are just bystanders. This has to stop and drug tests are helping. A safer environment is the main
reason businesses started doing this. People should not have to give a life because of someone else
s actions. People at work are protected by the test as well. The employer saves money as well
because no equipment is destroyed and no lives will be taken.
Drug testing is for the better than the worse. The people who think otherwise need to be tested. It

The Battle Of Kapyong During The Korean War
The Battle of Kapyong was initiated by the Chinese and Korean forces that were attempting to
recapture lost territory. Aware of how crucial the land was to their enemy, UN forces dug in to
Kapyong Valley and prepared to cover the South Korean forces that were withdrawing from the
38th Parallel. The Canadians were located in Hill 677, and the Australians on Hill 504. The
Australians bore the brunt of the first attack and were forced to withdraw, overwhelmed by the
vast number of enemy troops. However, the soldiers of 2PPCLI stood their ground, and
prepared to meet the communist assault headfirst. Their defence proved to be a success, and the
last remaining soldiers of the Chinese army retreated with haste. The soldiers of 2PPCLI were
replaced by American reinforcements, allowed to get the rest they dearly deserved. From that
point onwards, little full scale battles took place, instead replaced by smaller skirmishes across
the 38th Parallel. The victory at Kapyong Valley was a turning point in the war; it stabilized the
frontlines, successfully covered the South Korean retreat, and protected Seoul from re occupation.
If it weren t for the Canadian s stand, the Chinese army would have an an excellent position to
make an assault on the South Korean Capital Seoul, and would meet comparatively little
opposition with the South Korean and UN forces weakened from previous battles. At the end of the
war the 2PPCLI and the other units that were defending the valley each received a

The Myths behind King Arthur
King Arthur In this paper will be discussed the myths behind King Arthur. King Arthur was a
British legend and over time the stories became a collection of stories written by different authors.
King Arthur was actually a general in the fifth century that fought to keep Brittan a free paradise of
the western hemisphere. With the different writers over the years writing about the great King Arthur
the stories got distorted and became more of myth than that of truth of the real King Arthur. The
first writings of King Arthur were around 830 by an author by the name of Nennius, according to
the Britons. There are many writings in existence today, as many as 200 over King Arthur. Much of
the myths of King Arthur and the legends of Merlin and Guinevere are what people read today.
Much of these are myths and not actual facts, though all started out with the actual life facts of
King Arthur from his birth in Tintagel to his death, they just got bent out of shape with the different
writers over the years. King Arthur was actually Lucius Artorius Castus, Arthur s name was
originally Artorius, a family name. This is where King Arthur became more of a myth than a real
person. The myths became more widespread when the marriage of Henry II and Eleanor of
Aquitaine in France. This is where the more romantic and spiritual myths began about King Arthur.
In this time the author Chretien de Troyes of the French court wrote about the Holy Grail. This is

Benefits Of Retirement Planning For Retirement
Retirement planning is essential for the future well being of retirees. Gaining knowledge and
perspective on the process will be beneficial. A lack of preparedness may stem from the
overwhelming amount of variables affecting and contributing to retirement planning. The following
literature reviews provide awareness on planning for retirement. In an article by Burke Goldman
(2015), three strategies are presented to adopt and implement proven features and solutions. First,
automatic plan features promote enrollment and escalation to produce better outcomes. Behavioral
economics contributes to the effectiveness. Examples includes hyperbolic discounting, heavily
discounting the importance of futurebenefits in favor of immediate action, and loss aversion,
motivated by avoiding loss than achieving gains. The second strategy involves instituting the 4 M s,
milestones, measurement, monitoring and management. In order to reach the goal retirement age
and income, the future retiree needs to recognize how much is required to save each year. The
funding goals are measured to determine if the individual needs to change course or pick up the
pace. Monitoring and management occur throughout the process. Third, connecting the dots
attempts to overcome the challenges associated with account balances and future income. For a
secure retirement, understanding options promotes the ability to achieve better outcomes. To assist

Historical Book Justice
Throughout much of the historical writings of the Bible, ranging from the book of Joshua to the
book of Esther, the central narrations depict the formation of kingship that leads Israel. This can
be further broken into three sections. First being the Theocracy, covering the period when Israel
was ruled by God. Second, is the Monarchy which traces Israel Kings from the good to the bad
leading to the nation s destruction. Third, is the restoration describing Israel s remnant after the
seventy years of captivity. For the sake of limitation, an example from each section will be

As noted in previous sections, the state of the world was far from shalom and God was on a
mission to restore this. However, it also seemed Israel was not going to be the source of
redemption as they only held the desire to be like the nations, lacking a manner of justice. Yet,
in this last category one can note of the beginning process of restoration until the time of Jesus.
In this section, there is one important verse to pay attention to. In Ezra 10:14 the idea of justice
is reinstated but not in a way that is simply justice put into action, but in the intent to regather the
people of God; to bring all back into a community of love. This is one step closer to restoring
shalom. The verse prior to this example is key in understanding this (Ez. 10:9 14). Ezra the priest is
calling the people of Israel to rid of their sin and draw back into a state that is founded in God s will

Causes And Effects Of Global Warming
Causes and Effects of Global Warming
Global warming is the heating of the earth at an unnatural pace due to humans. The world regularly
undergoes eras of warming and cooling, the current event is due to humans and is happening more
rapidly than ever before. Bill Freedman (2014) stated that, ...increases in global temperatures are
due to human activity (i.e., not due to solar variations, volcanic activity, cyclic warming or cooling
trends, etc.) ... This means that the warming of the earth is only global warming when it is caused
by humans. Currently, according to past trends on Earth, the planet is supposed to be undergoing a
cooling, but because of global warming the earth is on a heating trend. Global warming is caused
by the Industrial Revolution, increased greenhouse gases, and deforestation and impacts the world
by raising temperatures, melting polar ice caps, rising sea levels, and the extinction of species and
the harm of humans.
Causes of Global Warming
Global warming is a growing problem and if it is left alone, it will ruin the Earth. The main cause of
global warming is the industrialization of the world; this began with the Industrial Revolution in
the seventeenth century. The Industrial Revolution was the beginning of an era with machines,
which lead to mass production, and more jobs. It allowed countries to produce higher quality
products in less time. This was the switch from rural, agricultural towns to larger, urbanized cities.

The Benefits Of Medical Marijuana

Responsibility 8: Corporate Social Responsibility12 4.Recommendations12 5.Conclusion14
6.References15 1. Introduction Corporate entities of all types need a governing body. In the
case of a company, this is its board of directors. Corporate entities governed by a board of
directors face the central challenge of the agency issue. Whenever a principal has to rely on
agents to handle his or her business, governance issues arise. (Tricker 2012) Presently, corporate
governance is an evolving concept as such there is no fixed definition. However, corporate
governance has been defined as, the system by which companies are directed and controlled.
(The Report of the Cadbury Committee on The Financial Aspects of Corporate Governance: The
Code of Best Practice 1993) Recent high profile corporate failures, scandals and, in some cases,
executive corruption, have focused international regulatory and public attention on the need for
having appropriate corporate governance standards and practices. (Leblanc 2005) As such, much
emphasis is being placed on board evaluation. The principles based model of corporate
governance is applied in Commonwealth countries. Under this model companies are required to
report that they have followed the governance principles laid down in the codes or to explain why
they have not. (Tricker 2012) Guyana being a Commonwealth country is subject to this self
regulatory framework of corporate governance. This paper used the

Disney And Disney Of Disney Land Essay
When asked about Disney the overwhelming majority will have happy thoughts associated with
Disney. However, my research into Euro Disney radically changes my opinion on such a
glamourous franchise. This is coming from one of the biggest Disney advocates in the world, Euro
Disney is an embarrassment to the Disney name as well as the brand. The disrespectful manner
Disney went about creating a new world in a foreign nation lead directly to its looming demise.
Disney world has invented an immensely strong brand that is easily one of the most recognized
brands in the history of the world. Through making heartwarming movies for families Walt Disney
created characters that were completely embraced and beloved by all. Walt Disney was able to
provide people with an escape to a world full of happiness based on his characters. Most notably he
created Mickey Mouse which allowed the Disney company to spin an entirely new world after
Walt s death in 1955 called Disney Land. From the creation of Disney Land in 1955 the company
has expanded into six different resorts/theme parks making over billions of dollars and one of the
most successful business models of all time.
A way a person behaves and thinks is influenced by where they are raised. The reason for this is
because they are exposed to certain situations that may only be prevalent in the area where they
live. In other terms this can be seen as cultural differences. Cultural differences can vary drastically
from city to city.

The Causes And Effects Of CO2 Ocean Acidification
CO2 ocean acidification has become a big problem. This problem started increasing around the
industrial revolution. Since the industrial revolution the ocean has become more acidic by 30%.
Industrial and agricultural activities have released more and more carbon dioxide into the
atmosphere. Studies show that a quarter of all carbon dioxidereleased into the atmosphere is
absorbed into the ocean. As the CO2 levels rise in the atmosphere, the CO2 levels also rise in the
ocean. The CO2 that is absorbed into the ocean changes the chemistry of the ocean making the
water more acidic. This process is called ocean acidification. [1] When the CO2 dissolves into the
water, it mixes with the water (H2O) and creates carbonic acid(H2CO3). This reaction is reversible
and it is a equilibrium. This means that this reaction is balanced and if you add something to
one side the result will come out equal to the other. For example if you added more CO2 the
reaction will produce more H2CO3. Adding more H2CO3 will make Hydrogen and bicarbonate
appear more abundantly. H2CO3 easily breaks down into HCO3 1 (Bicarbonate) and
H+(Hydrogen). Shellfish in the sea rely on calcium carbonate to form their shells. Since there is an
abundance of hydrogen in the ocean, carbonate combines with the hydrogen. Carbonate would
rather combine with hydrogen than calcium. This is why ocean acidification is causing a depletion
in the population of shellfish. [3] Scientist would not have been able to

Application Letter For The Master Of Public Health Program...
My name is Pratik Dey Sourav, and I am applying to the Master of Public Health program at New
York University. The bulk of my professional experience has been as a physician working in
Bangladesh, which incidentally was where I first witnessed the power and impact of a well
executed public health program. I recently moved to the United States and am now seeking an
education in Public Healthto address the gaps in my profile as well as give me access to career
opportunities in public healthadministration. My long term goal is to improve the public health
environment in Bangladesh.
Working as a medical professional in a developing country opens one s eyes to how parts of the
world can still lag behind what one assumes to be the status quo of community health . Even so,
focused efforts of well meaning professionals can truly make a difference in the lives of
communities that are otherwise hard to reach. Bangladesh has had its fair share of challenges in the
public health sector that are still to be surmounted. That said; recent initiatives in public health have
yield astonishing improvements in maternal health, infant mortality rates and general community
health awareness. In particular, during my first WHO sponsored project in which I studied
maternal mortality in rural Bangladesh, I surveyed one of the most underdeveloped and
underprivileged areas of Bangladesh, called Palash Bari . What I saw there was nothing short of
amazing. A village, where even a basic necessity

The Global Ascent Of The Nation State Essay
Those born after 1980 may take for granted the fact that the world is made up of about 200 nation
states, which appear to be more or less equal in terms of the legitimacy of their nationhood.
However, history suggests that not all nation states are created in quite the same way. According to
Wimmer and Feinstein: the global ascent of the nation state over the pass 200 years was a
discontinuous process, unfolding in various waves linked to the break up of large empires. By
comparing the creation of nation states in the nineteenth century to those of the twentieth century, it
is evident that, while the end result was the same, the means of creating nation states can be quite
different. There are many factors and events which lead up to independence and nation state
creation, such as nationalist sentiment, revolution, war, treaties, and tensions between people and
rulers.
Nation states created in the nineteenth century are more akin to what Montserrat Guibernau defines
as nations . Based on Guibernau s definition, nations are groups of people conscious of forming a
community, and they share a common past and culture. Conversely, in the process of creating a
nation state, a group hopes to develop the community after the fact. Nation states may be the result
of a treaty or consolidation of ethnic territories, meaning their histories can be fragmented and
incongruent. The new nation states of the nineteenth century, namely of France and the United
States of America, are

Arguments against the Use of School Uniforms
Uniforms
School uniforms in England were first introduced during the occupation of King Henry VII.
England is mostly known for their school uniforms even though British people are not very
interested, in fact they spend less money on clothes than the people of many European countries.
Although, the school uniforms are part of the British image, many individuals oppose the use of
school uniforms. The British is mostly known for their clothes, more specifically the school
uniforms, it is one of their dress code. Britain has influenced many countries to make school
uniforms compulsory. Many continents like Africa and Asia were forced while they were being
colonized by Britain to make school uniforms compulsory. Both the public and private schools are
required to have its won colures, styles and the dress code most not be neglected. When students are
shown or exposed to the positive sides of having school uniforms, they become more responsible
students but do school uniforms contravenes the student rights to self expression.
The most typical arguments against school uniforms are that students are not allowed to choose
what they want to wear. The students are limited, and there is no other way for self expression. The
only way for modern students to become unique and different from each other, is by having
different clothes and not school uniforms. Unfortunately, school uniforms make everybody look
almost the same. Many parents even complain about the

What Is The Similarities Between Hamlet And King Lear
Shakespeare s Hamlet and King Lear are not only exhibitions of human experience but also studies
in the spiritual life of man. Through these two plays Shakespeare has elaborately attempted to get
a meaning out of life, and not to show its mystery or madness despite the fact that madness as
simulation has been a source of fascination in these two tragedies. In Shakespeare s Madness and
Music, Kendra Preston Leonard says that Hamletand King Learultimately focus on crises of family
and power and involve a recurring early modern trope: madness (1). Concerning madness, Foucault
says in Madness and Civilization, that it constitutes the knot more than the denouement, the
peripety rather than the final release (32). Foucault sheds light on the... Show more content on

Examples Of Satire In The Butter Battle Book
Satire of The Butter Battle Book.
Dr. Seuss, an amazing writer who showed the world of satire and literature to all ages. Books
such as The Lorax, The Foot book and The Butter Battle Book are perfect examples of that.
Seuss, a man known for his creative vision and use of words, made these books a satire gold
mine! We already know about his rhymes but Seuss was also extremely good at using
exaggeration. Don t forget his amazing use of onomatopoeias or his profound use of repetition. I
could go on forever but the fact is Dr Seuss and his creative mind has an amazing talent for using
satire to make his books come to life. To make his books stick around for so long and to open the
minds of his reader to the world of satire and the amazing world of literature.
This creative talent is most clearly shown by the uses of exaggeration all throughout the book
The Butter Battle. Whether it s the fact that these two races are fighting over what side they
butter their bread. Or the fact that each side believes one is worse because of that fact. No
matter where you look in this book, there will always be a use of exaggeration! One being, So
you cant trust a Zook who spreads his bread underneath! Every Zook must be watched! He has
kinks in his soul! (Seuss). This quote is a perfect example of exaggeration, it s very obvious that
no one would have kinks in their soul because of how they butter their bread. Or that every Zook
has to be watched! Another great example would be the line, I ll blow you up he yelled, into
pork and wee beans (Seuss). Now we all know that you cant blow someone up into pork and wee
beans! It s just physically impossible but that doesn t stop Dr. Seuss from using it and using it
effectively. To sum this all up, it s very easy to see that exaggeration is just one of the few pieces
of satire Dr. Seuss uses. But it is used extremely effective and makes the reader more interested and
gives them a few laughs in the process!
In addition to exaggeration, Seuss has an incredible knack for using repetition that makes the
reader more engaged. Makes the reader want to see what that next funky word will be, what goofy
sentence will follow. This simple piece of satire has immense power! With just a few

Case Study Of Waterbury
Historical Overview As Maya Angelou once said, Diversity makes for a rich tapestry. We must
understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value, no matter their colour; equal in
importance no matter their texture. Maya Angelou stated this quote beautifully because as a social
workers, it s important to be able to understand that although clients come from all different
backgrounds, they are still human. Still human in the fact that they have feelings and should be
treated equally no matter where they come from, their gender, or their race. Having an
understanding of where a client comes from when trying to support them is crucial. It will not only
give the social worker insight into issues the client may be facing, but overall it makes them more
well rounded. The community that will be assessed in this paper is Waterbury. Waterbury is a city
located in New Haven county. According to the City of Waterbury website, The original settlement

(CT Data, 2016). Each year, the population of Waterbury has risen, so it s expected that in a few
years from now the population will be higher. Based off the information from the CT Data website,
within the population of 109,551, 25.1 percent are in poverty (CT Data, 2016). This is a high
number to think about considering 25.1 percent is approximately 27,497 people living in poverty.
Although this is a high number to think about, it s not very surprising because the median
household income in Waterbury is $40,467 (CT Data, 2016). Compared to many other towns in

Philosophical Themes In Vertigo
Vertigo is an intriguing film throwing several philosophical themes at the viewer, including the
ideas of love, appearance/reality, and subjective/objective personality. By the use of camera shots,
editing, colour, and more, Vertigo provides viewers to immerse themselves into these themes and
ponder over what these messages mean and apply to their individual ways of thinking. An
interesting concept from the filmthat I want to dwell on more is the theme of appearance vs.
reality. The film creates a conflict between these two opposites, mainly by the physical form of
Gavin Elster s wife Madeleine (also known as accessory to murder Judy ) to the protagonist of the
film, John Scottie Ferguson as he tries to unravel the mystery of who she really is.
Following the philosophical theme, Madeleine is both a literal image and a real person. As a real
person, Madeleine is of course Judy, a woman with a similar face that Gavin Elster exploited to
use in his plan to murder his wife for riches. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One profile subsists of several combining factors, which create a distinct image that the viewer
and Scottie attain of Madeleine until the end of the film. In this profile, Madeleine wears a grey
suit, dyes her hair blond, ties her hair in a curled bun, and walks in brown shoes. This visual
image is important, as it appears again through a sequence later in the film, where Scottie forces
Judy through a rigorous process of shopping and stylizing to obtain the identical image of
Madeleine . The film emphasizes the finish of the transformation with the completed Judy,
walking towards the screen with a smile as an identical image of Madeleine. The scene even
throws a bright green halo of light behind Judy as it zooms in, (as I said in my Initial Thoughts
post on Coursesite) to emphasize her ethereal, goddess like image in Scottie s subjective

Napoleon was born in Ajaccio, Corsica, on 15 August 1769, the second of Carlo and Letizia
Bonaparte s eight children. In 1778, Napoleon began his education at Autun and later attended
school in Brienne, excelling in mathematics and science. Following a year s study at the Ecole
Militaire in Paris, he was commissioned in the artillery in 1785. The year 1789 saw the outbreak of
the French revolution, which created an atmosphere of opportunity that would not have existed
under the Bourbons, and Napoleon was to make the most of it.

He signed a Concordat with the Pope in 1801 which restored religion to France, but his greatest

his being proclaimed Emperor in 1804. At the coronation, Napoleon crowned himself, taking the
crown from the Pope in a symbolic manner to show that power stemmed from the state and not the
church as with previous monarchs.
It was an uneasy peace however, and plans were made to invade Britain by crossing the English
Channel, but these were abandoned when Napoleon marched his highly trained Grand ArmГ©e
into central Europe to meet the converging forces of Austria and Russia. Capturing a large part of
the Austrian army at Ulm, Napoleon crossed the Danube to face the remaining Austrians and the
Russians at Austerlitz. The result was a decisive victory known as the Battle Of Three Emperors
on 2 December 1805. Austria sued for peace, but a new coalition was formed of Britain, Russia
and Prussia. Napoleon defeated the Prussians at Jena in 1806, and the Russians at Friedland in 1807.
Following these victories, Napoleon was at the pinnacle of his career. With a great display of
pomp he met the Tsar of Russia at Tilsit and a new Franco/Russian alliance was born. Portions of
Prussia were divided into new states, and Napoleon later announced a new policy of economic
warfare that was to become known as the Continental System. Its goal was to

  • 2. California Drought Research Paper One of the biggest world problems in California is water and how bad of a drought we are in. In 2011 our water level was average as we move on in the years you can see a dramatic change from 2011 to 2015. Also during the time from 2011 to 2015 63 trillion water was wasted according to an article by Nick Kirkpatrick. The water has become such a great concern that Californiais now starting to put water restrictions for residents that live in california. Such as only being able to water 2 times a week, will be charge if seen wasting water such as car washes, broken sprinkler, etc. Although there is really no way of bringing water or forcing it in California I have ideas that we can work with from what we have already. • 3. Importance of Religion in A Lesson Before You Die A Fatalistic Predisposition before Settling In In an 1973 interview conducted by Forrest Ingraham and Barbara Steinberg, Ernest J. Gaines states that although he is not devoutly religious, it is his belief that for you to survive, you must have something greater than what you are, whether it s religion or communism, or capitalism or something else, but it must be something above what you are (Gaines and Lowe 52). When applied to the narrator of his subsequent work, A Lesson Before Dying, it would seem that this principle is reflected in the one thing Grant Wiggins initially holds above himself. I refer, of course, to Grant s anticipation of the day that he will leave Bayonne in order to start a new life elsewhere, ideally in the company ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, as Grant recounts the events of the trial in a degree of detail that suggests more than mere inference, this issue becomes more ambiguous. From Grant s description of his aunt and Miss Emma s thoughts, perceptions and behavior in the courtroom, to his exacting portrayal of Jefferson s story, including details as specific as the type of wine, Apple White (Gaines 4), which prompts the shooting, as recounted by Jefferson through Grant in third person, to the roughly two pages of direct quotation that present the defense s closing arguments, we are left with such a complete account of the trial that it is virtually impossible to believe Grant is not embellishing upon his own assumptions. Yet with the closing lines of this chapter, Death by electrocution. The governor would set the date (Gaines 9), the credibility of Grant s implicit prediction is authenticated, leaving the reader with the impression that since the conclusion implied at the beginning is valid, and since the premises seem plausible, that these premises must at least be grounded in a degree of truth. From the outset, the marked tendency for Grant s prognostications to ultimately transpire ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Restaurants are found in many different places such as street corners in mobile businesses, buffets found in mid sized towns and cities, as well as upscale restaurants that are most always found in larger and more populated areas. All of these places serve one purpose in common; to aide to the desired foodcravings of countless people. A person might say that there are no noticeable differences of each type of restaurant, but hidden beneath their common goals are various differences that set each apart. Mobile food businesses have become very popular in middle class areas and serve people of all kinds. Although the food may seem... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These types of restaurants are found mainly in big cities where they can charge people hundreds of dollars for their meals. The meals may be smaller in size, but superior in quality. • 5. U.s National Debt And History US national debt and history The national debt of US is the amount owed by the federal government. In the past decade, $12.7 trillion have been added to the US national debt and at the end of fiscal year of 2016, the amount is expected to be approximately $22.4 trillion including federal, state and local. Debt per citizen will be over $63.000 and debt per taxpayer is about $163.000. The largest budget is medical care which is about $1.5 trillion and mostly introduced by Obama s administration and government policies. The total US government debt was equally divided between federal and local debt at the beginning of 20th century and it was less than 20% of GDP. While after the First World War, the federal debt surged to 32% of GDP. Then,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Dissolution of the Soviet Union signaled the end of the Cold War and thus the US government debt fell due to the decrease military budget as well as increased taxes in 1990s. During last 2 decades, the US national debt started increasing again which could attributed to the increasing spending on the war against global terror, bail out the banks and the budget of the plan to recover the economy after the crisis in 2008. And finally the US national debt reached 120.6% of GDP in 2014 and still kept increasing till today. The surge in national debt during Bush and Obama administrations It is true that there was a surge in US national debt in past decade, the total federal debt was reaching 105% of GDP in 2012 which is the historically highest level since the Second World War. Although the crest existed in the president term of Obama, however, the rise of debt started long before Obama took office in the While House. In fact, after the national debt decline at the end of 20th century, it resumed increasing with Bush s first budget in fiscal 2002. And later on in 2007, the rise accelerated as the economy slid into the worst recession since the Great Depression. From figure 1 we could clearly see that Figure 1 Obama did a much better job of limiting the deficit. On the other hand, Bush made it went from about 58% ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. A Few Good Men Plot Summary An orphaned young girl teams up with a former enforcer, as they are pursued by a ruthless Mexican mobster. STORY COMMENTS THE STRENGTH OF TEN MEN is a captivating action, thriller. The strength of this story is no doubt the complex and highly compelling characters that drive the plot. The core characters are thrust into a harrowing life and death situation where the stakes are extremely high. The script offers intriguing twist and turns. There are solid themes about trust, family, believing, and faith. The idea of a young orphan girl teaming up with an enforcer is an appealing plotline. For the most part, it sounds crisp and has a nice rhythm. The voices of the characters are consistent with their personalities and reveals information about them. The only area that should be polished is the running gag about whores. This is still overdone. It s funny in the beginning, but then loses its charm. The discussion about big dicks isn t all that engaging. The overall tension works best in the opening. The conflict and tension in the second act can be stronger if there s more of an urgency and ticking clock. The current pace hinders this. The tension doesn t enhance again until the midpoint. The script is professionally presented although there are a few minor typos (pages 4, 45, and 54). Also, the character of Dennis introduced twice. SUMMARY MARKETABILITY The plot is engaging and merits consider with revisions, especially in the first half of the script regarding the goal, tension, pace, and action. The strengths of this script are the characters and they can attract talent. The action is also well crafted. The script should be marketable in both the domestic and international market. • 8. The Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Single Parenting... A single parent could feel like a mouse racing on a wheel, where she/he is continually running, trying to maintain a proper household and raise healthy children. This is a statement from Victoria Thompson. I do believe in this statement because for me single parents, unlike the married couple, are having a hard time in dividing their time with their work and taking good care of their kids. So, single parenting faces more disadvantages like the experience of economic hardship, negative judgment of the community and the psychological effects on rearing children that make the family and relation cycle really complicated. Single parenting is about having a child without living with a partner or spouse. In historical events, the major reason ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, their children may suffer bullying because of having only one parent. This can affect the children s way of living. Kids who are bullied can experience negative physical, school, and mental health issues. The child will not be able to do what he wants because he will be afraid to socialize with other children. Second, a child with a single parent can compare their selves to the other children who have married parents. A child may feel envious about not having a father/mother to guide him/her. According to Paul R. Amato, Children living with single parents are exposed to more stressful experiences and circumstances than being children living with continuously married parents. This statement proves that single parents are having a hard time raising their children. Lastly, the children living with a single parent can have a hard time expressing their feelings. Children who don t see or feel the act of love between his/her parent can have a hard time expressing their feelings with other person. Due to unseen acts of love, the child may be confused on how he/she will show their feelings with other person. So instead of showing it, they are going to hide their feeling with their self ... And Malcolm X Essay The 1950 s and 1960 s was an era of major conflict between African Americans and whites in the United States which led to discrimination and disorder in the states. African Americans were fortunate to have outstanding leaders who fought for a difference and change during the Civil Rights movement. Both Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X were two powerful individuals who gave hope to African Americans and oppressed people in the United States. One of Martin Luther King Jr. s greatest civil right acts accomplishment was the march on Washington on August 28, 1963 where more than 20,000 people came to march from Washington to the Lincoln memorial in Washington D.C. In the March for Jobs and Freedom in Washington D.C. 1963 King gave his famous I Have a Dream speech that spoke of his hope for equality for all Americans. Martin Luther King Jr. wanted all the races to come together for the hatred, discrimination, and violence to be put to an end. Beyond the 1963 March on Washington, King and his followers used a variety of nonviolent tactics to achieve equality through grassroots activism, including the Montgomery bus boycott of 1955, the student sin ins of 1960, the Freedom Rides of 1961, the 1963 demonstrations in Birmingham, and the Selma March of 1965. These provided King with the opportunity to demonstrate the power of nonviolence in destroyed legal segregation in American life (Cone 176). The 1964 Civil Rights Act and the 1965 Voting Rights Bill showed the success of King s nonviolent approach. Even though Martin Luther King, Jr. worked with white leaders to try and achieve civil rights for African Americans, he knew that the African Americancommunity was getting frustrated with the way things were going. Dr. King knew that violence was a threat if change didn t happen quickly during the Civil Rights Movement. He told President Kennedy: if something isn t done to give the ... • 11. Shakespeare-In-The-East Church Research Paper Recently, I ventured out to the business district to see St. Dunstan in the East Church. It was a church built in Saxon times, later restored, but burned down in the London fire. In 1697, Sir Christopher Wren rebuilt the church. Then, it was bombed out during World War II. Today, only the exterior and steeple remain. However, the initiative conservationist groups took to turn it into a garden was magnificent and reminded me of Shakespeare s New Place in Stratford upon Avon. All of the interiors are gone from the building, including any glass panes that were in the window, but it is a small garden for the public to enter for free. That s one thing that I ve noticed about the United Kingdom: that conservation groups tend to develop a space into a park or garden, reviving the remains of older historical buildings. It also maintains the historical significance it has to the city surrounding it.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dunstan in the East was quite small, we decided to find All Hallows by The Tower Church, the oldest church in England. The church is still functioning and the land it was built on has been religious grounds dating back 1300 years. It was destroyed in World War II, but rebuilt as a new meeting place for God and man. The space had been developed to hold services, but also house a museum in the crypt and to hold art. The art inside features new architectural developments in London. However, to commemorate the Great Fire that occurred in the late 1600s, the main collage piece created by Victoria Burgher featured fire over the new city pictures. The heritage that the city carries is super interesting, especially because a lot of the commemorations are displayed in churches across the United Kingdom. Its unique geographic placement below sea level makes the sinking city suitable for massive flooding. Its un American reputation, as discussed in class, has created many local social issues that currently affects the city s demographic environment today. Although any form of disaster can occur anywhere, I believe in the notion that any response that New Orleans may give in relation to its disasters is best understood through the people and historical implications of those who have served as an at fault, underlying factor of the end result that its citizens have faced. New Orleans has been notable in recent history for its natural disasters, like hurricanes. The city has been historically planned and built to protect it from an environment that may endanger its citizens and the city landscape. However, whenever a natural disaster occurs, the question of how its damage could have been minimized always appears after the fact. From that film, I learned about the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927, which left a permanent stain in the fabric of black New Orleans memory. Managing to set off about 30 tons of dynamite on a levee in an effort to protect New Orleans from the flooding Mississippi, their mission was a success, preventing New Orleans from suffering serious damage. However, the decision resulted in severe flooding in an area in New Orleans that largely served a black population. Conflict Resolution and the Australian Contract Law Conflict Resolution and Australian Contract Law Introduction: Australian contract law is based on Common Law as originated from the British tradition. However, as noted by Australian Government (2012), said law is currently under review and subject to evolution in the near future. This will be some relevance to the discussion hereafter, which considers the implications of a contract between the parties of JG (the represented) and ITMS (the representation) and further consider the implications of a conflict arising over this contract. Conflict Experience: Briefly, the conflict experience delineated in the case history concerns the signing of Australian women s tennis player JG with management and marketing firm ITMS with the intention that the latter would help secure marketing and sponsorship opportunities for the former. As JG continued to perform well in her responsibilities as a rising tennis star elevating her rank and achieving a relatively singular status in the field of Australian women s tennis her management firm failed to capitalize on the opportunities newly available to her. According to the case history, in 2010, JG had her most successful year on the Women s Tennis Association (WTA) tour finishing the year ranked 42 in the world. The need for human rights to be at the forefront of any debate, policy or legislation regarding the war on drugs is heightened by human rightsabuses resulting from such action namely torture and ill treatment by police, extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detention, and denial of essential medicines and basic health services (Human Rights Watch, 2009). The term drug user can be interpreted in the context of law, culture and science, making the enactment of effective, harm preventative legislation difficult. However, evidence of a lack of acknowledgement of fundamental human rights in drug reform has lead to such rights violations, often stemming from the belief that drug addicts are incapable of self governance and determination... extreme measurers are necessary to save them from themselves (Petty, 2012). This essay will discuss human rights theories and mechanisms in relation to drug reform and its associated violations of human rights. The right to life, liberty, and health and equality before the law, as addressed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), are perhaps the most fundamental rights that have been compromised by drug policy and reform. People need to know the dangers and what they can do to avoid them. In Florida, evacuation routes have been prepared and cyclone shelters are clearly signed and posted. Planning includes land use planning. This regulation is used to reduce the vulnerability of people and property so for example, only low value land uses (recreational) can occupy coastal strips, the areas most vulnerable to a storm. In Northeast Florida, coastal properties have been rallied above the ground on stilts and have non residential functions on the ground (storage). This means that hazards like the storm surges do not impact the people and less damage occurs to infrastructure. Warning systems put in place to predict incoming storms inform the public about them. This is linked with the effectiveness of the government and how developed the country is. A less developed country is less likely to have the money to be able to afford such technology and equipment meaning that no matter what form of planning or preparedness occurs, mitigation is less likely to be achieved. Aware of how crucial the land was to their enemy, UN forces dug in to Kapyong Valley and prepared to cover the South Korean forces that were withdrawing from the 38th Parallel. The Canadians were located in Hill 677, and the Australians on Hill 504. The Australians bore the brunt of the first attack and were forced to withdraw, overwhelmed by the vast number of enemy troops. However, the soldiers of 2PPCLI stood their ground, and prepared to meet the communist assault headfirst. Their defence proved to be a success, and the last remaining soldiers of the Chinese army retreated with haste. The soldiers of 2PPCLI were replaced by American reinforcements, allowed to get the rest they dearly deserved. From that point onwards, little full scale battles took place, instead replaced by smaller skirmishes across the 38th Parallel. King Arthur was a British legend and over time the stories became a collection of stories written by different authors. King Arthur was actually a general in the fifth century that fought to keep Brittan a free paradise of the western hemisphere. With the different writers over the years writing about the great King Arthur the stories got distorted and became more of myth than that of truth of the real King Arthur. The first writings of King Arthur were around 830 by an author by the name of Nennius, according to the Britons. There are many writings in existence today, as many as 200 over King Arthur. Much of the myths of King Arthur and the legends of Merlin and Guinevere are what people read today. First, automatic plan features promote enrollment and escalation to produce better outcomes. Behavioral economics contributes to the effectiveness. Historical Book Justice Throughout much of the historical writings of the Bible, ranging from the book of Joshua to the book of Esther, the central narrations depict the formation of kingship that leads Israel. This can be further broken into three sections. First being the Theocracy, covering the period when Israel was ruled by God. Second, is the Monarchy which traces Israel Kings from the good to the bad leading to the nation s destruction. Third, is the restoration describing Israel s remnant after the seventy years of captivity. For the sake of limitation, an example from each section will be analyzed. However, it also seemed Israel was not going to be the source of redemption as they only held the desire to be like the nations, lacking a manner of justice. Yet, in this last category one can note of the beginning process of restoration until the time of Jesus. In this section, there is one important verse to pay attention to. In Ezra 10:14 the idea of justice is reinstated but not in a way that is simply justice put into action, but in the intent to regather the people of God; to bring all back into a community of love. This is one step closer to restoring shalom. The verse prior to this example is key in understanding this (Ez. 10:9 14). Ezra the priest is calling the people of Israel to rid of their sin and draw back into a state that is founded in God s will (justice acted in love, love, generosity, and service) (Oswalt ... • 45. The Causes And Effects Of CO2 Ocean Acidification CO2 ocean acidification has become a big problem. This problem started increasing around the industrial revolution. Since the industrial revolution the ocean has become more acidic by 30%. Industrial and agricultural activities have released more and more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Studies show that a quarter of all carbon dioxidereleased into the atmosphere is absorbed into the ocean. As the CO2 levels rise in the atmosphere, the CO2 levels also rise in the ocean. The CO2 that is absorbed into the ocean changes the chemistry of the ocean making the water more acidic. This process is called ocean acidification. [1] When the CO2 dissolves into the water, it mixes with the water (H2O) and creates carbonic acid(H2CO3). This reaction is reversible and it is a equilibrium. This means that this reaction is balanced and if you add something to one side the result will come out equal to the other. For example if you added more CO2 the reaction will produce more H2CO3. Adding more H2CO3 will make Hydrogen and bicarbonate appear more abundantly. H2CO3 easily breaks down into HCO3 1 (Bicarbonate) and H+(Hydrogen). Shellfish in the sea rely on calcium carbonate to form their shells. Since there is an abundance of hydrogen in the ocean, carbonate combines with the hydrogen. Carbonate would rather combine with hydrogen than calcium. This is why ocean acidification is causing a depletion in the population of shellfish. [3] Scientist would not have been able to ... The Global Ascent Of The Nation State Essay Those born after 1980 may take for granted the fact that the world is made up of about 200 nation states, which appear to be more or less equal in terms of the legitimacy of their nationhood. However, history suggests that not all nation states are created in quite the same way. According to Wimmer and Feinstein: the global ascent of the nation state over the pass 200 years was a discontinuous process, unfolding in various waves linked to the break up of large empires. By comparing the creation of nation states in the nineteenth century to those of the twentieth century, it is evident that, while the end result was the same, the means of creating nation states can be quite different. There are many factors and events which lead up to independence and nation state creation, such as nationalist sentiment, revolution, war, treaties, and tensions between people and rulers. Nation states created in the nineteenth century are more akin to what Montserrat Guibernau defines as nations . Based on Guibernau s definition, nations are groups of people conscious of forming a community, and they share a common past and culture. Conversely, in the process of creating a nation state, a group hopes to develop the community after the fact. Nation states may be the result of a treaty or consolidation of ethnic territories, meaning their histories can be fragmented and incongruent. Whether it s the fact that these two races are fighting over what side they butter their bread. Or the fact that each side believes one is worse because of that fact. No matter where you look in this book, there will always be a use of exaggeration! One being, So you cant trust a Zook who spreads his bread underneath! Every Zook must be watched! He has kinks in his soul! (Seuss). This quote is a perfect example of exaggeration, it s very obvious that no one would have kinks in their soul because of how they butter their bread. Or that every Zook has to be watched! Another great example would be the line, I ll blow you up he yelled, into pork and wee beans (Seuss). Now we all know that you cant blow someone up into pork and wee beans! It s just physically impossible but that doesn t stop Dr. Seuss from using it and using it effectively. To sum this all up, it s very easy to see that exaggeration is just one of the few pieces of satire Dr. Seuss uses.
