Welfare Spending During The United States
Welfare spending in the United States of America has been realizing negative effects on the economic
standing of American society as a whole, more specifically in terms of long term growth in poverty
rates and high levels of unemployment.
As of the report for fiscal year 2011, the total funds spent for the federal welfare programs amounted
to roughly $ 1.03 trillion. . . This excludes entitlement programs to which people contribute (e.g.
Social Security and Medicare) , according to Sessions, J. (2011, p.1). SS expenditures in 2011 was
$725 billion while for Medicare, it amounted to $ 480 billion. The analytical findings of Brady, D.(
2009, p.81) stated that As countries devote a larger share of their economy to welfare, poverty declines
steeply. This happened to Scandinavia, Finland, and Sweden, and European continental countries like
Netherlands and Belgium. USA was identified to have high poverty and low welfare expenses. He also
made clear that poverty is not necessarily increased by higher welfare generosity.(p.84) and further
says that it benefits all rather than just the elderly or men (p.87). The 5 features of welfare state were
historically proven to reduce poverty through greater generosity with (1) social welfare expenditures,
(2) expenditures for public health, (3) social security, (4) government expenditures, and (5)
decommodification (p.91). Brady, D. (p.92) also contends that public employment is less effective
than welfare state generosity as a

Separating Music Into Different Categories Or Styles In Music
Categories or styles in music are identified as genres. Separating music into different genres can be
achieved by identifying shared traditions or conventions in musical pieces. Simon Frith argues that
genre categorization is a tool for record companies in order to gain maximum profit from their
recording artists The underlying record company problem, in other words, how to turn music into a
commodity, is solved in generic terms (1996, p. 76). Articles by Reebee Garofalo, Simon Frith, Hector
Qirko and Arnold Shaw explore how musical genres are constructed, defined, negotiated, and
maintained.
The construction of genre constantly varies and is often inconsistent. This can be attributed to the
demands of consumerism. Music labels constantly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this is Rhythm Blues , originally referred to as race music, the term rhythm blues
trended in 1949 as a means to describe music recorded by black artists. Relating back to the
overlapping of musical styles in genre, rhythm blues serves as a direct and immediate source for styles
of rock n roll that rose to popularity in the mid twentieth century, however its historical impact, as
well as its artists and character have had limited acknowledgement (Shaw, 1980, p.71). Garofalo
(1987) even claimed until the Second World War Black and country and western writers were
routinely excluded from the society (p.78). An example of this suppressed attention are the early
recordings of Rock n Roll artist Elvis Presley, Shaw notes that, before gaining fame, Presley s five
Sun disks had included songs originally written and recorded by a black Rhythm Blues artist (1980.
P.71). Shaw argues that while rock n roll is a white derivative of R B the two can easily be
distinguished, presenting a number of distinctions, R B comprises the 1940s and early 50s era, while
rock n roll surfaces in the mid 1950s (1980, p.74). Other distinctions include sociological aspects,
such as R B being the product of the black experience in a segregated world...forcing them to find
entertainment in...black locations (Shaw, 1980, p.74). In this aspect, R B has been maintained as a
musical aspect throughout its history, best explained by this quote from Honkers and Shouters (1978)
R B stemmed from a rich, indigenous folk tradition whereas pop music was a mishmash of European
influences (Shaw, 1980, p.78). R B received recognition in its role for the emergence of rock n roll in
the 1970s, providing an example of how those two genres have been negotiated by scholars to offer
roots and origins of genres in popular

Analysis Of Mirror By Sylvia Plath
Mirrors reflect the innermost part of the soul. A mirror can show you at your most beautiful and your
most unpleasant times. Sylvia Plath s poem Mirrors , conveys a message that is much deeper than the
words printed on the page. The denotation of Mirrors provides the reader a basic reading of the poem,
whereas the connotation gives a deeper meaning to the work. Plath s word usage conveys two
meanings to Mirrors , allowing the reader to better personalize the work. I am silver and exact. I have
no preconceptions. / Whatever I see I swallow immediately / Just as it is, unmisted by love or dislike. /
(Plath 739 lines 1 3) Reading these lines obviously describe a mirror. The mirror is a first person
narrator describing itself; it is silver and exact with no preconceptions . It takes in whatever looks at it
and feels no emotion towards it. Studying the text shows a deeper meaning. The mirror is exact,
nothing is wrong with the object itself. The mirror does not have any feelings, it will not judge
whomever is looking into it. Whatever looks into the mirror will see its entire self, without filters of
love or dislike. The next lines follow I am not cruel, only truthful / The eye of a little god, four
cornered. / (Plath lines 4 5) The mirror is not mean, it only shows the object its true reflection. It
seems to be a god like entity since it sees all. The connotation is seen as the mirror shows you who
you truly are. It casts back an image that some are happy with

couple of the many things that made Camden one of the most thriving cities in the United States back

Sicily is too far away and too numerous to be ruled even if conquered . Nicias recognized the complex
nature of the expedition. In order to succeed, the expedition had to assemble a huge armada and army
that required support from the entire Athenian empire (food, money, forces, etc). The logistical
difficulties to support the expedition alone may be enough to cause it to fail. Additionally, the far
distance between Athens and Sicily would complicate their ability to provide reinforcement. One of
Nicias s main objections to the Sicily Expedition was its Ambiguity. The decision to invade Sicily
fundamentally violated their grand strategy for war with Sparta. The supporters for the expedition had
presented no clearly defined objective, or displayed just intent for the expedition, this he feared would
lead to mission creep. The pretenses of the expedition were to assist an ally that grew to an offensive
operation against Syracuse. In reality, it was a scheme by avarice individuals who saw an opportunity
to expand the empire, while enriching themselves. The conquest of Sicily posed no vital interest to
Athens. The Egestaenas seek help, from their alliance with Athens, for their war against Selinus; they
warned of potential Syracusan domination of Sicily and aid to Sparta. Nicias argued that Syracuse, as
is, posed no threat to the Athenians interest, and even if it took over

Short Story Of A New House
People started running around frantic making sure that the new future Ashby wives had everything
they would need or want once they were brought into their new house. Housemaster Vaughn is said to
arrive in less than an hour with the three girls who were rescued out of their miserable lives to be
brought into this house that we ve all called home for most of our lives. All I can think about is this
house having something new brought in to change it up a bit. The past couple of weeks the house has
been filled with sadness because of Rose getting sicker and sicker, so all we need is something to help
take our minds off of it. While we re finishing filling the rooms with clothes, bedding, and all the

different colored eyes! How unique! I could stare into her eyes all day and not get bored. The girl

The Radio Corporation of America (RCA) was founded by GE in 1919 to further international radio.
GE used RCA as its retail arm for radio sales from
1919, when GE began production, until separation in 1930.[13] RCA would quickly grow into an
industrial giant of its own.

GE s long history of working with turbines in the power generation field gave them the engineering
know how to move into the new field of aircraft turbosuperchargers. Led by Sanford Alexander Moss,
GE introduced the first superchargers during World War I, and continued to develop them during the
Interwar period. Superchargers became indispensable in the years immediately prior to World War II,
and GE was the world leader in exhaust driven supercharging when the war started. This experience,
in turn, made GE a natural selection to develop the Whittle W.1 jet engine that was demonstrated in

No-Fault Divorce Pros And Cons
Marriage is a beautiful, life changing event that bonds two people together forever. However, together
forever isn t always the case for most couples. Marriages can fail for various reasons and divorces are
usually filed. Unfortunately, divorce is becoming more common and normal. When a couple becomes
unsatisfied in their marriage for whatever reason, they can file for a No fault divorce. In a No fault
divorce, either one spouse or both can file and does not have to prove any fault on account of the other
spouse. All the spouse needs to do is give any reason that the state honors for the divorce. When
considering a No fault divorce, it is important to first consider the pros and cons.
Pros of No Fault Divorce A No fault divorce can be beneficial in many ways such that the divorce
process is shorter, depending on the state s law of minimum required days of residence and less
expensive due to not having to deal with outrageous lawyer fees. A No fault divorce is also beneficial
because privacy is being respected. Spouses do not have to give reasons, point fault, or involve anyone
in their personal lives. No fault divorces have also shown less emotional stress and reduced incidents
of violence on children and spouses. Children play a big role in divorces. Seeing their parents split up

No fault divorces are an easy out. I believe you married your spouse for a reason, you love them and
you should work hard to keep your marriage long living and happy. No marriage is perfect, there are
always going to be fights and arguments, but there are ways to work on arguments in positive,
constructive ways. Getting a No fault divorce is a bad example for your children. Children will grow
up to believe that divorce is natural and its okay to get married and divorced several times for
unethical reasons. No fault divorces leave both spouses broken hearted, poor, and without custody.
Marriage is sacred and we should treat it as

Babylon Revisited Thesis
Throughout the time period in which the moderns were coming of age and were bearing the weight of
responsibility from the world around them there were many authors that came forth. One such author
was F. Scott Fitzgerald, who was probably one of the greatest American authors of the twentieth
century. One of his many stories that was of interest within class was Babylon Revisited . Within the
story it goes over the life of a man who has recently come off of being a drunk and is in the midst of
attempting to get his daughter back. He had made the mistake of locking his wife out after a fight
between the two in a bar, and now that she is dead he is blamed for that. His daughter is stuck with her

Question: A newly emerged virus has infected a previously naïve (uninfected) individual. Please
describe all the possible adaptive immune response to this uncharacterized virus
Introduction:
The adaptive immune response is the response of antigen specific lymphocytes to antigen, it functions
through a series of steps aimed at limiting or destroying a particular antigen. T and B cells primarily
mediate the responses of the adaptive immune system as they obtain the characteristics of specificity
and memory. There are two classes of adaptive immune response; humoral immune response and cell
mediated or antibody immune response. In order for the adaptive immune response to know when to

Their two primary jobs are to ensure antibody production against the appropriate target antigen occurs
and there is presentation of antigen to T cells and signals for T cell activation are provided. B cells
provide protection of the host by producing antibodies that identify and neutralize foreign objects like
viruses. These B cells then differentiate into plasma cells and memory cells. Plasma cells are
terminally differentiated B cells that remain committed to the continuous production and secretion of
antibodies. Each plasma will synthesise and secret only one type of antibody. Memory B cells are long
lived B cells that have specialised to remembering the type of substances that the immune system has
seen before, they are primed for rapid response to repeated exposure of the antigen. Memory B cells
are generated in the lymphoid tissue and migrate to the lymph nodes and reside in the ready mode for
activation in order to quickly recognise and attack any returning virus. T cells attack cells that have
become infected by viruses, there are two types of T cells the T helper cell ad the cytotoxic T cell. T
helper cells do not attack infected cells directly, instead they release chemical messengers known as
cytokines that signal differentiation, growth and action of other immune cells. Cytotoxic T cells go
around in the body looking for and wanting to destroy pathogenic cells directly. Cytotoxic T cells
attach to the compromised cell and release chemical factors that are able to kill their targets by
programming then to undergo apoptosis. * Dendritic

Analysis Of Abraham Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address
In Abraham Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address, He talks about the Civil War America was facing at
the time. In his speech, his exaggerative diction, allusions to the Bible, and appeals to emotion helped
strengthen and portray his point of view. Lincoln used numerous discriptive words in his speech. For
example, he called the Civil War a great contest. This downplayed the causes and effects of the Civil
War because the Civil War was much more dramatic and life altering than a contest. However, Lincoln
used this word to show that the Civil War was a show off and a fight over property between the
Northern and Southern states. Lincoln also used the the word scourge to define the effects of the war.
This showed the war for what it was, since

Narrative Consequences Of Trade In Mel Gibson s Apocalypto
We can presume that populations of human beings have been expending their time, energy, and
resources to acquire valuable commodities to trade for a very long time. This quintessentially human
behavior bolsters social bonds in ways that would have been a great boon to the survival chances of an
individual or tribe. In the movie Apocalypto , the early minutes depict two tribes of people coming
into contact for the first time. The potentially deadly levels of tension were eased with a simple
greeting from an elder tribesman and an exchange of boar meat for fish. Narrative elements aside, this
is a fantastic recreation of the likely roots of commerce . But, those times are long gone. These simple

When the Second World War was ending in 1945 the Allies met in Crimea for the Yalta Conference to

meeting s location nearer to his homeland than the homes of the other negotiating parties to exacerbate
their discomfort with jet lag. This also happened to be when Franklin Roosevelt was nearing the end

this bold move to capitalist markets, but USSR occupation of Poland deprived them of options. The

The Causes And Contributions Of The Human Genome Project
Human Genome Project A genome is the complete collection of an organism s genetic material. The
human genome is composed of about 20,000 to 25,000 genes located on the 23 pairs of chromosomes
in a human cell (Tortora, Funke, Case, 2016). According to the Human Genome Project (2000), A
single human chromosome may contain more than 250 million DNA base pairs, and it is estimated
that the entire human genome consists of about 3 billion base pairs. Now that we have identified what
a genome is, we will now examine the Human Genome Project. The Human Genome Project (HGP) is
a project that began in October of 1990 (Tortora, Funke, Case, 2016). The HGP lasted for 13 years, so
the end of the project was in 2003. Mapping the entire human DNA sequence was the main purpose of
the program (Tortora, Funke, Case, 2016). Associating specific human traits and inborn diseases with
genes at exact locations on the chromosomes was the goal of genomic mapping and sequencing (HGP,
2000). Figure 1 below shows the timeline through which the Human Genome Project got completed.
In 1990, the project commenced along with the Ethical, legal and social implication program (ELSI).
Fast forwarding to 1995, where the human physical mapping goal was achieved. Then in 1999, the
sequence of the first human chromosome was completed. Finally, in 2003, the project was completed.

Classical Liberalism And The Enlightenment
Paper #1: Classical Liberalism
Classical liberalism is the transition from focusing on government to focusing on the rights of
individuals. This transition came about during the time of the Enlightenment in the eighteenth century.
The Enlightenment period was when man started to have more faith in his own reasoning. People
began to look for evidence on their beliefs themselves and to find proof on these beliefs, so that they
could come up with their own opinions on things. One way that they did this was by going back and
rereading Roman and Greek texts and retranslating these texts. This new way of thinking also caused
the Protestant Reformation to occur. Some of the most influential Enlightenment writers were John
Locke, Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson, and the people of France s National Constituent Assembly.
John Locke was one of the most influential writers during the Enlightenment period, and was the first
Enlightenment Thinker . Locke is the author of the Two Treatises and believed that every person was
born with natural rights such as: life, liberty, and property (Locke). These rights were meant for
everyone, and not just the nobility or wealthy. Locke uses references from the Bible throughout the
Two Treatises stating that God created man without any state of inferiority (Locke). This disproves the
idea of Divine Right given from God that many countries in Europe had been participating in. John
Locke also discussed the importance of The Beginning of

Main Line Pictures Vs. Kim Basinger Essay
It seems like an awfully difficult task to calculate lost profits to Main Line Pictures in this case. Kim
Basinger, a well known and very reputable actress, walked away from a movie deal causing Main Line
Pictures to lose money. The amount of Main Line s loss can never be determined with pinpoint
accuracy, and Main Line would not have made the profit that they indicate they would have. However,
is the plaintiff correct and are the claims the plaintiff is bringing forward reasonable? First, Main Line
s maximum and minimum lost profit amounts should not be revised downward. The 3 million dollars
represents an estimate of predictable future cash flows from domestic distribution. The deal not being
finalized does not in any way change ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, Bruce Willis films usually bring in large amounts of money are box office hits, but Hudson
Hawk apparently was a flop and a big loss. Who could have predicted that? Now, let s discuss what
costs may or may not have been relevant to Main Line in determining lost profits. When Kim
Basinger walked away from Boxing Helena, she agreed to star in a movie, Final Analysis. She made 3
million dollars by making this movie. This indicates that Kim Basinger is a marketable actress and her
going rate is somewhere around three million dollars. If this is the case, which I say it is, then this
amount is relevant. Conversely though, I can also play devil s advocate in this situation and see why
Main Line is not entitled to this amount. After all, Main Line was only paying Ms. Basinger about 1
million dollars. Why should they reap the benefit if another movie company decided to pay her more
money for her services? Main Line is also not entitled to the differential profit loss by comparing
Basinger films to Fenn films. It is understandable how Main Line thinks they are because Basinger
films do make more than Fenn films, but who can say with certainty that this would have been the
case in Boxing Helena a controversial and unconventional film to say the least. Again I direct your
attention to the Bruce Willis and Whoopi Goldberg movie flop argument. Main Line is correct by

Andy Dick Chapter 6 Summary
Chapter 6: ...Or the Bible
Main Ideas:
1. Titles, situations and quotations are often connected to the Bible
2. The stories taken from the Bible provide a special type of significance
3. Character names play an important role in describing the story
Connection: In the book Moby Dick, there are parts of the story that connect to the main ideas for this
chapter. For example, when authors pick names, there s usually a purpose behind it. In this case, the
characters used in this book provide significance to the characteristics each character will possess as it
connects to the Bible. Ahab and Ishmael are both names that are found in the Bible and have a specific
persona or purpose. Also, many allusions to the Bible are found in Moby Dick as well. ... Show more

However, Andy is the only one who knows he didn t do it. This struggle provides parallels to Greek
writing based on the struggles Andy must face. For example, because he tries to escape prison, Andy
is seen as someone who s trying to return home, just like Odysseus. Also, Andy desires to have his
name cleared because he knows he s innocent. This struggle parallels to the one Achilles must battle,
which is trying to maintain one s dignity.
Chapter 9: It s More Than Just Rain and Snow
Main Ideas:
1. It s never just rain
2. Weather is used as a plot device
3. Atmospherics rain can be mysterious, murkier, and more isolating than other weather
4. Democratic element falls on the just and unjust man alike; forces circumstances to unfold
Connection: Again, in Shawshank Redemption, when Andy escapes from prison, he s found walking
through the rain. Just like what the chapter says, the rain that Andy is walking through is very
symbolic. What the rain implies is that Andy is now cleansed and free from prison. Andy is now a new
man due to the fact he can live without being trapped by the false guilt the court system bestowed on
him. Being cleansed by this rain makes Andy think of how grateful he is to have escaped.

Ritz Carlton Strategic Planing Essay
The Ritz Carlton is synonymous with luxury. The strategic planning throughout all aspects of it
experience has contributed to their reputation as a world class luxury hotel. Ritz Carlton s ability to
remain so successful has not been by accident or luck but by implementing a business plan that has
reevaluated its service design processes in order to deliver more experientially based employee and
customer engagement. (Nixon amp; Rieple, 2010) The management team of Ritz Carlton built a

The ability to standardize the each locations management plan to account for regional differences is
the reason for the Ritz Carlton s success. The success of adapting to each location s unique attribute
has produced a better experience for the Ritz Carlton s guest. Their business plan has been designed to
identify their target customer and what they value as luxury. The management team has identified the
critical process that every location has to implement. This standardization provides the structure for
the property manager to focus on the experiences of the customer. By using these different elements to
gather feedback for problems and solutions, they are developing the key process to anticipate a
customer s needs. The collection, analysis and distribution of information, including output and
quality reports on a company s process (Brown, Curry, Jeffery amp; Edmund, 2003 Pg 100) is exactly
what the Ritz Carlton management team has implemented. Their ability to anticipate their customer s
wants and needs has set them apart from their competition regardless of location and workforce.

Essay on John Keats La Belle Damn Sans Merci Analysis
Of all the themes in poetry, one that is most commonly used and stands out quite a lot is love. T. S
Elliot once quoted Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion . As such, it is
no wonder that the themes of unrequited love and despair are very prominent in poem La Belle Dame
sans Merci by John Keats. In this poem Keats clearly denotes his personal rebellion against the pains
of love and revealed the sad reality that; in pleasure, there is pain. This paper will take a closer look at
one of the most prominent themes in La Belle Dame sans Merci; Love and Despair.

He was all alone and the his expectations of the romance was shattered. It then dawned that his
suffering disappointment stemmed from the realization that she never really loved him the way he
thought she did. At this point the knight is lonely and hopeless, but he does not show anger towards
her. This shows his understanding that in love there is despair. Even though the love he feels for her is
pure and true, she did not have the same feelings.
The only clues in La Bella Dame sans Merci that depicts whether or not the love felt by the maiden
towards the knight is true, comes from the dreams of the knight when he was sleeping. In his dream he
comes to the realization that the maiden is pitiless and she has no mercy. His dreams can be
interpreted as if the knight subconsciously knew that the love wasn t real and that the maiden had
already left him, and his mind has already started shifting the blame towards her. This mentally
prepares the knight for the harsh reality that he has to face as he awakes. The dream might just be his
rationalization; a way of making her out to be evil in order to cope with the pain of learning his love is
unrequited, and in love there is despair.
Despair is the state of having lost all hope, of finding oneself unable to believe life will ever be good
again. The knight in La Belle Dame sans Merci falls into despair when he learns a relationship that

power, and showcasing the growth in economy and military power after betraying the people and
ridding of unwanted elements.
Furthermore, people turned to fascism because of the Great Depression which cost many jobs and
promise of a brighter future. Document A tells us that their economy fell pretty badly. It led to massive
unemployment rates. There was not enough support for society because many nations were financially
insecure due to the war. Fascist leaders painted a brighter picture of a booming economy and jobs to
these people. The fascist leaders were able to pinpoint the supposed problems of the nations that
caused them to decline. In document f, Hitler says that the Weimar Republic s policies are to blame

What Is The Impact On The Early Development Of Early...
Christianity belief is seen more as a theology while Greek thinking or Hellenism is seen more as a
philosophy. All theologists are philosophers but not all philosophers are theologists. Greek
philosophies had great impact on the early development of Christian thought. Much of the elements in
the early Greek philosopher s theories regarding the soul, creation, and salvation were reflected in the
development of early Christian thought. The Greeks were tenacious in asking why and how questions
concerning those and things around them, and even about themselves. The main purpose behind
theology is to understand and follow God s divine revelation. Philosophy tends to arrive to general
principles through consideration of what is perceived by the sense, which is then rationally evaluated.
Theologists like Augustine and Thomas Aquinas both discovered the use of Aristotle in the formation
of the Christian mind. Aristotle, a Greek philosopher, believed that all humans had a purpose and that
the purpose was for the greater good. However, the good life or the blessed life for Aquinas and
Augustine was heaven. For Greek thinkers like Aristotle or even Plato, human actions derived from
reason, rationality, and intellect. Christian thinkers like Augustine saw philosophical reflection as a
complement to theology. Those philosophical reflections were based off of the underlying intellectual
commitment of the Christian Faith. The thoughts of both Augustine and Thomas Aquinas

Columbus Day Essay
Christopher Columbus is famously known for being an Italian explorer. Christopher Columbus set sail
across the vast seas with three ships, Santa Maria, the Pinta, and the Nina to find a western sea route to
India, China and the mystical gold and spice islands of Asia. He was born in Genoa, Italy and died
May 20, 1506 in Valladolid, Spain. King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella funded Christopher Columbus
s voyage and he set sail upon the vast seas. He later found that he would find a new land that would
later become America. He began to make settlements in the Americas and then later came back just to
see that some settlements were destroyed. The indigenous indians were the people who destroyed
some of them. He began to capture and make them slaves and killed them.
When Christopher Columbus made the indians slaves he did terrible things to them and treated them
badly. Most people say Vikings first discovered America. Yes they were the first but that didn t have
the right materials to document their journey and voyages to the America s. There are many states in
the United States that don t celebrate Columbus Day as a holiday because of how badly he treated the
Indians. Christopher Columbus s first voyage was August 3, 1492 and he had set sail from Spain to
find an all water route to Asia. Almost more than two months later he landed on an island in the
Bahamas and called it San Salvador. On his second voyage he left Cádiz in Spain from 1493 to 1496

This act modified the methods for many different subjects, such as financial and non financial

The main role of the Act is to get managers to act in the best interests of shareholders. It additionally
requires managers to think about the long term effects of decisions; the welfares of the business s
staff; the business s connections alongside suppliers, clients, and others; and the impression of the

main hallmark of an autosomal recessive trait is that both men and women have an equal chance in

when discussing recessive genetic disorders? Consanguineous means people coming from the same
heritage. This is especially important when discussing recessive genetic disorders because it could
affect the chances of someone occupying the disease. 3. What is it about the inheritance pattern of
factor viii deficiency seen in Greg and Olga s pedigree that point toward it not being an autosomal
recessive trait? The trends point to factor viii not being autosomal recessive trait because clearly it
seems to be affecting males significantly more than females. This would mean that the trait does not

Use Of Illusion And Hide Reality Plays A Heavy Role On...
The use of illusion to hide reality plays a heavy role in William Shakespeare s Othello . Illusion is
used frequently throughout the play in relation to love, friendship and character personalities. Some
characters, especially Othello, cannot see through the illusion and assume what they see as reality.
Iago, however, uses this to his advantage by creating multiple illusions to manipulate the other
characters for power and revenge.
Iago is seen by most of the characters as an honest and trustworthy man who is always willing to listen
and give advice. Cassio, one of the characters who is fooled by the illusionary personality Iago has
created, says I never knew/ a Florentine more kind and honest (III.i.38 39). The audience however
knows that this is not the case, since at the beginning he says I am not what I am (I.i.62), meaning that
he has created an illusion of himself to fool others into believing he is trustworthy. Iago states I follow
him to serve my turn upon him (I.i.39), meaning that he only pretends to be loyal to Othello, acting as
a good servant so that when the opportunity arises, Othello will not suspect him of sabotaging his
marriage. Throughout the entire play, he pretends to be Othello s friend, feigning reluctance in voicing
his suspicions about an affair between Desdemona and Cassio. He gains Othello s trust by being a
good friend who is honest enough to tell him such horrible news. Iago creates the illusion of the affair

This changed patterns of trade deficit where before it was on the Portuguese it was now on China who
were pouring out everything in exchange for only silver which they didn t even reinvest in their
economy. This source isn t that reliable mainly because it was written by a British merchant who tried
convincing Britain into joining trade. Therefore it was a secondary document from the outside looking
in so all data may not be correct. Thus the global distribution of silver greatened the connection
between the west and the east eliminating old patterns of trade deficit. In the documents 3, 1, 5, and 6
they discuss how when silver came into the picture many payment and old money accounting methods
changed. Document 3 talks about how in China the economy began to fall due to cheaper grain
harvest. The reason that the harvest was cheaper is because the taxes where now forced to be paid in
silver which China dispersed very little silver into the economy. It is a reliable document because
elders of villages directly told Wang Xijue a court official of China about the first hand suffering of its
people. Document 1 states how the introduction of silver to China created much greed and whoever
has a lot can never have enough but whoever has little has enough. That is because of the suffering
brought on by silver whoever had a little needed to worry

Symbolism in The Farming Of Bones
In The Farming of Bones, a story based on tragic real life events written by Edwidge Danticat, a
Haitian girl named Amabelle attempts to establish a new life for herself in the neighboring Dominican
Republic after the tragic deaths of both her parents. After establishing herself in the Dominican town
of Alegria as a servant for a Dominican family, Amabelle s whole way of life is once again turned
upside down when Generalissimo Rafael Trujillo orders the slaughter of Haitians who are occupying
the Dominican Republic (Derby). Of the many themes and symbols used in this story the most
prominent of them is water. (Scribd Inc.) While ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the crossing a member of their group is shot by a Dominican soldier and another drowns in the
water. We see here that life is once again being represented by the river, the lives of two individuals
were taken attempting to cross over the border but at the same time a new life awaited Amabelle and
Yves in their native country and for Amabelle the hope for her still remained that she may be able to
locate Sebastien. Once they arrived in Haiti, Amabelle and Yves eventually settled at the family home
of Yves and lived there for many years. During her time in Haiti Amabelle frequently pondered the
fate of her lover Sebastien the people she formerly served in the Domincian Republic. Soon her
curiosity gets the best of her and Amabelle arranges to once again cross the border into the Dominican
Republic and visit her old home where she lived as a servant, to do this she would once again have to
cross over the water, albeit this time by bridge. After crossing over the bridge Amabelle Is driven back
to Alegria, were she first encountered Sebastian and were she believed that Senora Valencia might still
live. After she arrives in Alegria Amabelle finds that Senora Valencia is in fact still alive and located in
the same town. Amabelle locates Senora Valencia and after a brief discussion of the events that have
occurred in the many years since they have seen each other, Amabelle requests one thing from Senora
Valencia, to see the stream the one

Examples Of Good Intentions In Romeo And Juliet
Good Intentions With Bad Outcomes Besides the more obvious messages that Shakespeare supports
throughout Romeo and Juliet, there is a less obvious that you can follow throughout the whole story.
Virtue itself turns vice, being misapplied, And vice sometime s by actions dignified. (Romeo and
Juliet 2.3:21 22). The ongoing message of good intentions with bad outcomes can be seen with almost
every character, not just Juliet and Romeo. One of the characters it embodies the most though is Lady
Capulet. You can see her good intentions for Juliet and how much she cares for her many times in the
story. That he shall soon keep Tybalt company; And then I hope thou wilt be satisfied (Romeo and
Juliet 3.5:91 92). When she sees her daughter crying she assumes it s over her deceased cousin and
tells her she ll kill who killed him. She has good intentions in saying this with the hopes of bringing up
her daughter s spirit. If she did follow through with that plan it would ve upset Juliet though. Even
though she would ve been trying to help it would ve ended poorly. ... Show more content on

Three Ohmic Contact Metallization Schemes
Abstract:
Three ohmic contact metallization schemes to n type GaN (n GaN) namely Ti/Al/Ni/Au, Ti/Al/Mo/Au
and Ti/Al/Re/Au are compared with respect to their contact resistance, root mean square values of
surface roughness, annealing temperature and the mechanism of ohmic contact formation.
Introduction:
Gallium nitride (GaN) is a binary III/V direct bandgap semiconductor with a bandgap of 3.4 eV
commonly used in light emitting diodes since the 1990s. GaN has a low sensitivity to ionizing
radiation which makes it a suitable material for solar panels on satellites. Various military and space
application also benefit from the usage if this radiation hardened material. Besides the wide bandgap,
high breakdown field and high saturation velocity of GaN make it very promising for high power,
high speed and high temperature electronic devices. GaN devices offer five key characteristics: high
dielectric strength, high operating temperature, high current density, high speed switching and low on
resistance. These characteristics are due to the properties of GaN, which, compared to silicon, offers
ten times higher electrical breakdown characteristics, three times the bandgap, and exceptional carrier
mobility. Low resistance Ohmic contacts with a smooth morphology, and good edge acuity and
thermal stability are imperative in the successful implementation of all these devices, particularly high
power devices which require high power conversion efficiency and heat management. The

Labor Market Flexibility
Labor Market Flexibility is, in theory, the prerogative of employers to hire and subsequently fire
workers without oversight, or the regard for regulation and/or influence of work unions (Marmot
Wilkinson, 2006). The thought process behind this idea is that firms are more likely to increase their
workforce, and that a greater portion of society can be employed. Through my experience in watching
the financial industry and business oriented Bloomberg News channel on Television, the model of
having less regulatory oversight and influences from outside sources brings down the operating costs
of companies and corporations, thereby allowing for greater investments by said firms, presumably, to
hire more people. As indicated by (Marmot Wilkinson, 2006), individuals with higher levels of job
insecurity are thought to be more enticed to work harder than others, so this labor market model would
be followed by an uptick in population wide productivity levels. This would thereby lead to an
increase ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is not healthy, and it should change. While regulations are costly for businesses to comply with, they
are needed to make sure that no industry gets in worse in its quality for workers and that no one can be
let go without just cause. Furthermore, this should be in addition to proper notifications of any
mistakes made and how to keep them from happening again, without fear of unemployment for it just
occurring once. References: Marmot, Michael, and Richard G. Wilkinson. Social determinants of

Abelard and Aquinas Essay
Peter Abelard was a renowned dialectician from 1079 to 1142. He subjected theological doctrines to
logical analysis. In other words, he used rational argument to discover truth. Saint Thomas Aquinas,
was a believer in the power of reason, giving St. Augustine s theory an alternate approach. He taught
in Paris and Italy during the years 1225 to 1274. Both of these new age thinkers changed the way
Catholic followers viewed the natural world.
Peter Abelard was one of the new thinkers that applied scholasticism to his theological aspects.
According to the excerpt Scholastic thinkers assumed that some teachings of Christianity, which thy
accepted as true by faith, could also be demonstrated to be true by reason (238). Peter ... Show more

His greatest work was
Summa Theologica. In this work he attempted to merge faith with reason, and the works of Aristotle
with the scriptures. Historically, he is seen as an alternate approach to St. Augustine s view of the city
of man versus the city of God. Augustine and Aquinas shared the belief that the original sin was Adam
and Eve s venture through the garden of good and evil. On page 239, Aquinas held that both faith and
reason came from God, they were not in opposition to each other; properly understood, they supported
each other.. He did not want people to shun the idea of reason, he wanted the world to see that it was
not evil. Combining Christianity with Aristotelian knowledge, he shed light upon the difficulty to
distinguish common ground between the natural world and the supernatural world. The excerpt is
divided into two different sections, Whether, Besides the Philosophical Sciences, Any Further
Doctrine Is Required? and Whether God Exists?. In the second section he proves five ways God exists
by using Aristotle s technique in philosophy, they are motion, nature of efficient cause, possibility and
necessity, the graduation to be found in things, and the governance of the world. The way he words his
logic is extremely confusing. For example, Now it is not possible that the same thing should be at one
in actuality and potentiality in the same respect, but only in different respects. For what is actually hot

What Is The Battle Of Jutland Essay
The Battle of Jutland There are many battles that make up a war, both large and small. Each battle
won is a step towards winning the war. Some conflicts are more critical than others. The Battle of
Jutland which took place during World War I was one such battle. The Battle of Jutland was a pivotal
point and set the tone for the rest of World War I. After World War I began the British had put up a
blockade in order to keep Germany from entering the Atlantic and causing interference with the
British Naval Fleet and their merchant trade. It wasn t too long before the Germans had enough and
realized something had to be done. The Battle of Jutland was set into motion by an attack by the
German Navy on the towns of Lowestoft and Yarmouth, on the night of April 24th and 25th 1916.
They did this in order to garner a response from the British Navy. With ... Show more content on

Both sides went at this full force and exhausted massive amounts of resources. Though the battle was
short lived it was hard fought by both opposing sides. Although they were outranked in terms of size
and number by the British Naval Fleet, the German Navy fought mightily and according to them they
emerged the victor of this battle. However according to the British side they were the winners of the
battle. It s hard to determine who was the clear winner of this battle in the aftermath. After the Battle
of Jutland both sides of the conflict limped away with severe damages to their fleets, in ships and
casualties lost. The British lost a total of 6,784 men and 14 ships including three battle carriers.
Germany lost 3,058 men and 11 ships total, and for this reason Germany claimed victory. However
due to the size difference of the fleets at the beginning of the battle Germany suffered enough loss that
it was unable to recover enough to sail and operate its fleets. It never challenged the British Naval
Fleet

Similarities Between Gegosh And The Epic Of Gilgamesh
There are many shared experiences that make the journeys of Gilgamesh and Orestes similar. Orestes
and Gilgamesh reform their characters by going through a series of events; at each event, their
character is modified or strengthened in a analogous way by their communities or peers. Although
they both begin content with their situations, they become aware that something needs to change in
order for there to be peace within their societies. Following this realization, various influences force
the leading characters to go through with their personal trials that they have been contemplating, in
turn forcing them to have the strength and courage that they had not possessed prior to this point. In
order to help Gilgamesh and Orestes learn the virtue and importance in comradery and community,
each is paired with a companion to aid them in their trials. At the conclusion of the stories, the
characters fully comprehend that the wellbeing of the community is more important than their own
person gains. Both title characters from The Epic of Gilgamesh and The Oresteia undergo parallel
journeys, with the most pivotal similarity being the effect that the community has on the shaping
events that Gilgamesh and Orestes undergo.
In The Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh begins as an inconsiderate ruler who does not respect his people
or the community. It becomes clear from early on in the novel that Gilgamesh has caused an upset in
society, and for the population to function smoothly he has to change his ways. The text reads, Neither
the father s son nor the wife of the noble is safe in Uruk; neither the mother s daughter nor the warrior
s bride is safe (Gilgamesh, I:i). This excerpt shows how the subjects under Gilgamesh s rule were
scared of him. Not a soul in the town was safe because of the king, and this caused a great upset to the
ways of society. Gilgamesh did not see the wrong in his doings and did not take into account the
consideration the feelings of his pupils. In order for the community to obtain peace, their ruler will
have to learn that he is the change that needs to occur.
Although he had been banished for quite some time, Orestes returns to mourn his father and discovers
the great injustice that had been

Essay The American with Disabilities Act
As stated by the founding fathers of America All men are created equal. Black, white, brown, short,
tall, smart, and dumb, all are created equally. Therefore every person deserves fair judgement.
Unfortunately, it is a profound fact that not everyone is born normal and capable of task typical for a
common person, who is free from disability. In my opinion, the quote All men are created equal serves
to promote a friendly environment that helps encourage equality among people and aids to recognize
the similarities rather than the differences that separates men. Even so, with this hope, the disabled
community still struggles for equality. According to Legal Rights by the National Association of the

employers from refusing to hire or promote an individual because of his or her impairment and
requires employers to provide reasonable accommodations for applicants or employees who are deaf
or hard of hearing (Tucker 28). If a deaf or hard of hearing employee can pass the essential part of the
job qualification, he or she is protected by the ADA to be hired. Also, the ADA prohibits employers to
discriminate disabled people in means of recruitment, job applications procedures, pay rates, and
promotions. The second title, Title II, Requires all state and local government agencies to make all of
their services accessible to individuals with disability (NAD 22). This ensures people with disability to
be able to participate in services, programs, and activities who can meet the essential eligibility
requirements. Such places that must make these accommodations are schools, libraries, police and fire

Research Paper On Wild Bill Hickok
There is something about the word dead that many people suddenly feel dread. It is just your usual
English word and I guess the meaning is what scares most people. It is dead the unknown the
mysterious and so on. In the old days in the American west or Wild west there was a man who was
considered to be one of the greatest gunfighters. His name was Wild Bill Hickok and he met with
death in Deadwood, South Dakota. There we have it perhaps he should never have gone to a town
with a name like that. His full name was James Butler Wild Bill Hickok and he came into this world in
1837 in the state of Illinois in the U.S. He first got notoriety as a gunfighter in 1861 when without any

  • 3. Welfare Spending During The United States Welfare spending in the United States of America has been realizing negative effects on the economic standing of American society as a whole, more specifically in terms of long term growth in poverty rates and high levels of unemployment. As of the report for fiscal year 2011, the total funds spent for the federal welfare programs amounted to roughly $ 1.03 trillion. . . This excludes entitlement programs to which people contribute (e.g. Social Security and Medicare) , according to Sessions, J. (2011, p.1). SS expenditures in 2011 was $725 billion while for Medicare, it amounted to $ 480 billion. The analytical findings of Brady, D.( 2009, p.81) stated that As countries devote a larger share of their economy to welfare, poverty declines steeply. This happened to Scandinavia, Finland, and Sweden, and European continental countries like Netherlands and Belgium. USA was identified to have high poverty and low welfare expenses. He also made clear that poverty is not necessarily increased by higher welfare generosity.(p.84) and further says that it benefits all rather than just the elderly or men (p.87). The 5 features of welfare state were historically proven to reduce poverty through greater generosity with (1) social welfare expenditures, (2) expenditures for public health, (3) social security, (4) government expenditures, and (5) decommodification (p.91). Brady, D. (p.92) also contends that public employment is less effective than welfare state generosity as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Separating Music Into Different Categories Or Styles In Music Categories or styles in music are identified as genres. Separating music into different genres can be achieved by identifying shared traditions or conventions in musical pieces. Simon Frith argues that genre categorization is a tool for record companies in order to gain maximum profit from their recording artists The underlying record company problem, in other words, how to turn music into a commodity, is solved in generic terms (1996, p. 76). Articles by Reebee Garofalo, Simon Frith, Hector Qirko and Arnold Shaw explore how musical genres are constructed, defined, negotiated, and maintained. The construction of genre constantly varies and is often inconsistent. This can be attributed to the demands of consumerism. Music labels constantly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of this is Rhythm Blues , originally referred to as race music, the term rhythm blues trended in 1949 as a means to describe music recorded by black artists. Relating back to the overlapping of musical styles in genre, rhythm blues serves as a direct and immediate source for styles of rock n roll that rose to popularity in the mid twentieth century, however its historical impact, as well as its artists and character have had limited acknowledgement (Shaw, 1980, p.71). Garofalo (1987) even claimed until the Second World War Black and country and western writers were routinely excluded from the society (p.78). An example of this suppressed attention are the early recordings of Rock n Roll artist Elvis Presley, Shaw notes that, before gaining fame, Presley s five Sun disks had included songs originally written and recorded by a black Rhythm Blues artist (1980. P.71). Shaw argues that while rock n roll is a white derivative of R B the two can easily be distinguished, presenting a number of distinctions, R B comprises the 1940s and early 50s era, while rock n roll surfaces in the mid 1950s (1980, p.74). Other distinctions include sociological aspects, such as R B being the product of the black experience in a segregated world...forcing them to find entertainment in...black locations (Shaw, 1980, p.74). In this aspect, R B has been maintained as a musical aspect throughout its history, best explained by this quote from Honkers and Shouters (1978) R B stemmed from a rich, indigenous folk tradition whereas pop music was a mishmash of European influences (Shaw, 1980, p.78). R B received recognition in its role for the emergence of rock n roll in the 1970s, providing an example of how those two genres have been negotiated by scholars to offer roots and origins of genres in popular ... • 5. Analysis Of Mirror By Sylvia Plath Mirrors reflect the innermost part of the soul. A mirror can show you at your most beautiful and your most unpleasant times. Sylvia Plath s poem Mirrors , conveys a message that is much deeper than the words printed on the page. The denotation of Mirrors provides the reader a basic reading of the poem, whereas the connotation gives a deeper meaning to the work. Plath s word usage conveys two meanings to Mirrors , allowing the reader to better personalize the work. I am silver and exact. I have no preconceptions. / Whatever I see I swallow immediately / Just as it is, unmisted by love or dislike. / (Plath 739 lines 1 3) Reading these lines obviously describe a mirror. The mirror is a first person narrator describing itself; it is silver and exact with no preconceptions . It takes in whatever looks at it and feels no emotion towards it. Studying the text shows a deeper meaning. The mirror is exact, nothing is wrong with the object itself. The mirror does not have any feelings, it will not judge whomever is looking into it. Whatever looks into the mirror will see its entire self, without filters of love or dislike. The next lines follow I am not cruel, only truthful / The eye of a little god, four cornered. / (Plath lines 4 5) The mirror is not mean, it only shows the object its true reflection. It seems to be a god like entity since it sees all. The connotation is seen as the mirror shows you who you truly are. It casts back an image that some are happy with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sicily is too far away and too numerous to be ruled even if conquered . Nicias recognized the complex nature of the expedition. In order to succeed, the expedition had to assemble a huge armada and army that required support from the entire Athenian empire (food, money, forces, etc). The logistical difficulties to support the expedition alone may be enough to cause it to fail. Additionally, the far distance between Athens and Sicily would complicate their ability to provide reinforcement. One of Nicias s main objections to the Sicily Expedition was its Ambiguity. The decision to invade Sicily fundamentally violated their grand strategy for war with Sparta. The supporters for the expedition had presented no clearly defined objective, or displayed just intent for the expedition, this he feared would lead to mission creep. The pretenses of the expedition were to assist an ally that grew to an offensive operation against Syracuse. In reality, it was a scheme by avarice individuals who saw an opportunity to expand the empire, while enriching themselves. The conquest of Sicily posed no vital interest to Athens. The Egestaenas seek help, from their alliance with Athens, for their war against Selinus; they warned of potential Syracusan domination of Sicily and aid to Sparta. Marriages can fail for various reasons and divorces are usually filed. Unfortunately, divorce is becoming more common and normal. When a couple becomes unsatisfied in their marriage for whatever reason, they can file for a No fault divorce. In a No fault divorce, either one spouse or both can file and does not have to prove any fault on account of the other spouse. All the spouse needs to do is give any reason that the state honors for the divorce. When considering a No fault divorce, it is important to first consider the pros and cons. Pros of No Fault Divorce A No fault divorce can be beneficial in many ways such that the divorce process is shorter, depending on the state s law of minimum required days of residence and less expensive due to not having to deal with outrageous lawyer fees. A No fault divorce is also beneficial because privacy is being respected. Spouses do not have to give reasons, point fault, or involve anyone in their personal lives. Please describe all the possible adaptive immune response to this uncharacterized virus Introduction: The adaptive immune response is the response of antigen specific lymphocytes to antigen, it functions through a series of steps aimed at limiting or destroying a particular antigen. T and B cells primarily mediate the responses of the adaptive immune system as they obtain the characteristics of specificity and memory. There are two classes of adaptive immune response; humoral immune response and cell mediated or antibody immune response. In order for the adaptive immune response to know when to respond, how ... Their two primary jobs are to ensure antibody production against the appropriate target antigen occurs and there is presentation of antigen to T cells and signals for T cell activation are provided. B cells provide protection of the host by producing antibodies that identify and neutralize foreign objects like viruses. These B cells then differentiate into plasma cells and memory cells. Plasma cells are terminally differentiated B cells that remain committed to the continuous production and secretion of antibodies. Each plasma will synthesise and secret only one type of antibody. Memory B cells are long lived B cells that have specialised to remembering the type of substances that the immune system has seen before, they are primed for rapid response to repeated exposure of the antigen. Memory B cells are generated in the lymphoid tissue and migrate to the lymph nodes and reside in the ready mode for activation in order to quickly recognise and attack any returning virus. T cells attack cells that have become infected by viruses, there are two types of T cells the T helper cell ad the cytotoxic T cell. T helper cells do not attack infected cells directly, instead they release chemical messengers known as cytokines that signal differentiation, growth and action of other immune cells. Cytotoxic T cells go around in the body looking for and wanting to destroy pathogenic cells directly. Cytotoxic T cells attach to the compromised cell and release chemical factors that are able to kill their targets by programming then to undergo apoptosis. * Dendritic ... • 22. The Causes And Contributions Of The Human Genome Project Human Genome Project A genome is the complete collection of an organism s genetic material. The human genome is composed of about 20,000 to 25,000 genes located on the 23 pairs of chromosomes in a human cell (Tortora, Funke, Case, 2016). According to the Human Genome Project (2000), A single human chromosome may contain more than 250 million DNA base pairs, and it is estimated that the entire human genome consists of about 3 billion base pairs. Now that we have identified what a genome is, we will now examine the Human Genome Project. The Human Genome Project (HGP) is a project that began in October of 1990 (Tortora, Funke, Case, 2016). The HGP lasted for 13 years, so the end of the project was in 2003. Mapping the entire human DNA sequence was the main purpose of the program (Tortora, Funke, Case, 2016). Associating specific human traits and inborn diseases with genes at exact locations on the chromosomes was the goal of genomic mapping and sequencing (HGP, 2000). Figure 1 below shows the timeline through which the Human Genome Project got completed. In 1990, the project commenced along with the Ethical, legal and social implication program (ELSI). Fast forwarding to 1995, where the human physical mapping goal was achieved. Then in 1999, the sequence of the first human chromosome was completed. Finally, in 2003, the project was completed. • 23. Classical Liberalism And The Enlightenment Paper #1: Classical Liberalism Classical liberalism is the transition from focusing on government to focusing on the rights of individuals. This transition came about during the time of the Enlightenment in the eighteenth century. The Enlightenment period was when man started to have more faith in his own reasoning. People began to look for evidence on their beliefs themselves and to find proof on these beliefs, so that they could come up with their own opinions on things. One way that they did this was by going back and rereading Roman and Greek texts and retranslating these texts. This new way of thinking also caused the Protestant Reformation to occur. Some of the most influential Enlightenment writers were John Locke, Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson, and the people of France s National Constituent Assembly. John Locke was one of the most influential writers during the Enlightenment period, and was the first Enlightenment Thinker . Locke is the author of the Two Treatises and believed that every person was born with natural rights such as: life, liberty, and property (Locke). These rights were meant for everyone, and not just the nobility or wealthy. Locke uses references from the Bible throughout the Two Treatises stating that God created man without any state of inferiority (Locke). This disproves the idea of Divine Right given from God that many countries in Europe had been participating in. John Locke also discussed the importance of The Beginning of ... When Kim Basinger walked away from Boxing Helena, she agreed to star in a movie, Final Analysis. She made 3 million dollars by making this movie. This indicates that Kim Basinger is a marketable actress and her going rate is somewhere around three million dollars. If this is the case, which I say it is, then this amount is relevant. Conversely though, I can also play devil s advocate in this situation and see why Main Line is not entitled to this amount. After all, Main Line was only paying Ms. Basinger about 1 million dollars. Why should they reap the benefit if another movie company decided to pay her more money for her services? Main Line is also not entitled to the differential profit loss by comparing Basinger films to Fenn films. It is understandable how Main Line thinks they are because Basinger films do make more than Fenn films, but who can say with certainty that this would have been the case in Boxing Helena a controversial and unconventional film to say the least. • 30. What Is The Impact On The Early Development Of Early... Christianity belief is seen more as a theology while Greek thinking or Hellenism is seen more as a philosophy. All theologists are philosophers but not all philosophers are theologists. Greek philosophies had great impact on the early development of Christian thought. Much of the elements in the early Greek philosopher s theories regarding the soul, creation, and salvation were reflected in the development of early Christian thought. The Greeks were tenacious in asking why and how questions concerning those and things around them, and even about themselves. The main purpose behind theology is to understand and follow God s divine revelation. Philosophy tends to arrive to general principles through consideration of what is perceived by the sense, which is then rationally evaluated. Theologists like Augustine and Thomas Aquinas both discovered the use of Aristotle in the formation of the Christian mind. Aristotle, a Greek philosopher, believed that all humans had a purpose and that the purpose was for the greater good. However, the good life or the blessed life for Aquinas and Augustine was heaven. For Greek thinkers like Aristotle or even Plato, human actions derived from reason, rationality, and intellect. Christian thinkers like Augustine saw philosophical reflection as a complement to theology. The Financial Reporting Council ( Frc ) The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has recently released four new standards: FRS 100 Application of Financial Reporting Requirements; FRS 101 Reduced Disclosure Framework; FRS 102 The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland; and FRS 103 Insurance Contacts. FRS 100 basically describes who does what with the new UK GAAP. It describes which principles apply to which type of business; when a business can apply the reduced disclosure framework; and when a business should follow a statement of recommended practices, or SORP. FRS 101 lays out a reduced disclosure framework for entities. Certain entities can choose to use this reduced disclosure framework while creating their financial statements. FRS 102 ... This act modified the methods for many different subjects, such as financial and non financial reporting, company communications with shareholders, and the responsibilities of company heads. The main role of the Act is to get managers to act in the best interests of shareholders. It additionally requires managers to think about the long term effects of decisions; the welfares of the business s staff; the business s connections alongside suppliers, clients, and others; and the impression of the company s procedures on the surrounding area. The Company Law Review Group was established by the government in 1998 in order to contemplate ways to modernize company law. The Company Law Review guidelines were the starting point for the modifications suggested by the Company Law Reform White Paper released in 2005. Then the White Paper proposals turned into an outline for a Bill, which then finally received official approval and passed in 2006, (companieshouse.gov.uk, 2014). Some of the main effects of the Companies Act on private companies are: an individual and simplified model of Articles of Association; individual requirements for accounting and reporting; no requirement for a company secretary; no requirement for an annual meeting; and simplified rules about share capital, (companieshouse.gov.uk, 2014). The main hallmark of an autosomal recessive trait is that both men and women have an equal chance in acquiring the trait. 2. What does consanguineous mean? Why is this concept especially important when discussing recessive genetic disorders? Consanguineous means people coming from the same heritage. This is especially important when discussing recessive genetic disorders because it could affect the chances of someone occupying the disease. 3. What is it about the inheritance pattern of factor viii deficiency seen in Greg and Olga s pedigree that point toward it not being an autosomal recessive trait? The trends point to factor viii not being autosomal recessive trait because clearly it seems to be affecting males significantly more than females. This would mean that the trait does not affect the males and females equally which takes away from the hallmark of an autosomal recessive trait where they have equal chances. • 37. Use Of Illusion And Hide Reality Plays A Heavy Role On... The use of illusion to hide reality plays a heavy role in William Shakespeare s Othello . Illusion is used frequently throughout the play in relation to love, friendship and character personalities. Some characters, especially Othello, cannot see through the illusion and assume what they see as reality. Iago, however, uses this to his advantage by creating multiple illusions to manipulate the other characters for power and revenge. Iago is seen by most of the characters as an honest and trustworthy man who is always willing to listen and give advice. Cassio, one of the characters who is fooled by the illusionary personality Iago has created, says I never knew/ a Florentine more kind and honest (III.i.38 39). The audience however knows that this is not the case, since at the beginning he says I am not what I am (I.i.62), meaning that he has created an illusion of himself to fool others into believing he is trustworthy. Iago states I follow him to serve my turn upon him (I.i.39), meaning that he only pretends to be loyal to Othello, acting as a good servant so that when the opportunity arises, Othello will not suspect him of sabotaging his marriage. Throughout the entire play, he pretends to be Othello s friend, feigning reluctance in voicing his suspicions about an affair between Desdemona and Cassio. He gains Othello s trust by being a good friend who is honest enough to tell him such horrible news. Iago creates the illusion of the affair by filling Othello s mind ... Three Ohmic Contact Metallization Schemes Abstract: Three ohmic contact metallization schemes to n type GaN (n GaN) namely Ti/Al/Ni/Au, Ti/Al/Mo/Au and Ti/Al/Re/Au are compared with respect to their contact resistance, root mean square values of surface roughness, annealing temperature and the mechanism of ohmic contact formation. Introduction: Gallium nitride (GaN) is a binary III/V direct bandgap semiconductor with a bandgap of 3.4 eV commonly used in light emitting diodes since the 1990s. GaN has a low sensitivity to ionizing radiation which makes it a suitable material for solar panels on satellites. Various military and space application also benefit from the usage if this radiation hardened material. Besides the wide bandgap, high breakdown field and high saturation velocity of GaN make it very promising for high power, high speed and high temperature electronic devices. GaN devices offer five key characteristics: high dielectric strength, high operating temperature, high current density, high speed switching and low on resistance. These characteristics are due to the properties of GaN, which, compared to silicon, offers ten times higher electrical breakdown characteristics, three times the bandgap, and exceptional carrier mobility. Low resistance Ohmic contacts with a smooth morphology, and good edge acuity and thermal stability are imperative in the successful implementation of all these devices, particularly high power devices which require high power conversion efficiency and heat management. Labor Market Flexibility Labor Market Flexibility is, in theory, the prerogative of employers to hire and subsequently fire workers without oversight, or the regard for regulation and/or influence of work unions (Marmot Wilkinson, 2006). The thought process behind this idea is that firms are more likely to increase their workforce, and that a greater portion of society can be employed. Through my experience in watching the financial industry and business oriented Bloomberg News channel on Television, the model of having less regulatory oversight and influences from outside sources brings down the operating costs of companies and corporations, thereby allowing for greater investments by said firms, presumably, to hire more people. As indicated by (Marmot Wilkinson, 2006), individuals with higher levels of job insecurity are thought to be more enticed to work harder than others, so this labor market model would be followed by an uptick in population wide productivity levels. Augustine and Aquinas shared the belief that the original sin was Adam and Eve s venture through the garden of good and evil. On page 239, Aquinas held that both faith and reason came from God, they were not in opposition to each other; properly understood, they supported each other.. He did not want people to shun the idea of reason, he wanted the world to see that it was not evil. Combining Christianity with Aristotelian knowledge, he shed light upon the difficulty to distinguish common ground between the natural world and the supernatural world. The excerpt is divided into two different sections, Whether, Besides the Philosophical Sciences, Any Further Doctrine Is Required? and Whether God Exists?. Orestes and Gilgamesh reform their characters by going through a series of events; at each event, their character is modified or strengthened in a analogous way by their communities or peers. Although they both begin content with their situations, they become aware that something needs to change in order for there to be peace within their societies. At the conclusion of the stories, the characters fully comprehend that the wellbeing of the community is more important than their own person gains. Both title characters from The Epic of Gilgamesh and The Oresteia undergo parallel journeys, with the most pivotal similarity being the effect that the community has on the shaping events that Gilgamesh and Orestes undergo. In The Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh begins as an inconsiderate ruler who does not respect his people or the community.
