Pros And Cons Of Prince Hamlet
Would anybody that is truly insane ever actually claim to others that he or she is insane (or
pretending to be insane), as Prince Hamlet did to his trusted companions Horatio and Marcellus?
Most likely not, as such a person probably would not be able to realize the extent of his or her
delusion on his or her own, and therefore would stubbornly deny that he or she is in fact crazy.
Furthermore, would any truly mad individual ever, if given a relatively easy opportunity to take
his or her revenge against someone who had committed great wrongs against him or her (and
therefore caused the individual to fall into insanity in the first place), take the time to evaluate the
pros and cons of taking revenge at that time as Prince Hamletdid while his hated uncle Claudius
(who had apparently killed Hamlet s father, the king of Denmark, taken the Danish throne for
himself, and even married Hamlet s mother Gertrude in the process) was attempting to pray for
forgiveness for his wicked deeds and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Certainly not a truly insane person would have taken his or her revenge immediately on impulse
(of course, unless he or she had become so crazy that all of his or her memories or senses had
been lost) without even fully realizing the details of the situation. These examples, as well as
Hamlet s purposefully disheveled appearances before his former love Ophelia, his playful
conversation with Ophelia s father (and Claudius s adviser and lackey) Polonius, and his actions
after his murder of Polonius, seem to show that the madness displayed by Hamlet during several
key parts of Williams Shakespeare s famous tragic play Hamlet was not real, but feigned. Despite
this, many common readers (and audiences) of Shakespeare s Hamlet are still often left believing
that the titular Prince Hamlet s supposedly feigned antic disposition is actually genuine

Identity And Identity In Alice Walker s Everyday Use
HOW DOES ONE DEFINE ONE S HERITAGE
It has been said that One of the greatest regrets in life is being what others would want you to be,
rather than being yourself. What should matter is being true to oneself and loving the person
that you have become. This short story is narrated by Mama who is telling her story of her two
daughters, Dee and Maggie. Both daughters live their lives in very different ways. In Dee s case,
she goes out to make all that she can of herself while leaving her mother and sister behind. Maggie
stays at home with their Mama and makes the most out of what surrounds her. All three ladies have
different perspectives of their own heritage and identity. The conflict in Everyday Use is that Mama
has these two daughters fighting over a quilt. In the end, readers will find that what matters most
is not forgetting where you come from and who you are as a person. In Everyday Use Alice
Walker emphasizes to her readers the importance of self identities and family through her use of
conflict, setting, and characterization, suggesting that sometimes people are so motivated in
pleasing others while neglecting the things that matter to them the most.
One s heritage and identity should not be separated from one s everyday life. The Everyday Use
story takes place in the late 1960s in the southern regions of America during the time when African
Americans were fighting for their identity and to preserve whatever heritage they have. According
to the statement that Mama made, colored asked fewer questions then than they do now . In the
yard, Mama awaits her daughter s return. The theme setting plays an important role in this story
because of Dee, the eldest daughter chooses to leave the place where she had grown up because
she believes that nothing will become of her if she stays in her home town. She chooses to leave
home and get an education while her sister Maggie stays home and is looked down upon by her
sister because she chose to stay at home. According to Mama, A yard like this is more
comfortable than most people know. It is not just a yard. It is an extended living room. 1 The
yard and the comparison to the living room are very clear that one think of one s living room as a

Essay on The Empowerment of Women in Trifles by Glaspell
From the beginning the women of Trifles by Susan Glaspell do not seem to have a significant
role in the play. These women appear to just be along for the ride while their husbands do the dirty
work of searching through the crime scene. In the end even though they serve as secondary
characters to their husbands, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters play a large role in portraying the theme of
this play, and without them the plot would not have been conducted nearly the same way to get the
message out to the audience.
As soon as the county attorney, the sheriff, his wife and Mr. and Mrs. Hale walk into the Wrights
house there is a clear division of power between the men and the women. The men walked in with
harsh faces ready to get the job ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bread has been left out of the bread box, the kitchen table had not been cleaned, the quilt that
she had been working on was unfinished and poorly stitched, and lastly the bird was missing from
the cage. After further investigation the women come to the conclusion that there was something
wrong going on in the Wright household that caused their house to be so chaotic.
Once the investigation starts one would think that the men would be the ones to solve the
investigation, when in reality they are too caught up on the stereotypes of women during this time
period and completely overlook the evidence as trifles . The men instead decide skip looking
through the kitchen and instead to do the majority of their investigating in barn and the bedroom
because during this time period these are places where men would feel dominant over women.
After some deep thought Mrs. Hale s comment I wonder if she was goin to quilt it or just knot it?
(1416): finally makes sense. The women were not referring to the quilt, but were instead referring
to Mrs. Wright hanging Mr. Wright. The men obviously were not very observant or well versed
with quilting terminology otherwise they could have easily deciphered this phrase and known that
the women had figured out the motive for the murder.
The theme of this play deals with the discrimination and poor treatment of women during this time
period. Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters

Trout Fishing Research Paper
Tips When Deciding to Go Trout Fishing in the Waters of Scotland
Before anything else, you should be able to find good trout fishing tackle that will suit your
preference. Always remember that the goal is to decide the tactics that you will use to go trout
fishing in the waters of Scotland, and that is the sole purpose of this article.
It will be very easy for those near the banks of the Don, Tweed or Clyde to decide where to go
fishing. Those also in the Isle of Lewis or any other areas surrounded by trout loch; the dilemma of
deciding the place to fish would be a piece of a pie. However, for others who are living in a central
area where population is denser, or those who need to travel since the area they are in is not
feasible for trout fishing, decisions about finding a spot in Scotland will require research and
planning.
Step 1: First and foremost, familiarize yourself with the area and especially on different ... Show

This time period is the open season for trout fishing.
Step 3: Another thing to be considered is selecting the region where you want to go fishing.
Excellent spots are found all throughout the Highlands. Some of the areas where you will find
excellent trout fishing spots are in rivers and lochs located at Argyll, Caithness, Orkney, Durness,
and Perthshire. You may also consider some commercially stocked fisheries on either the Central
belt or in Aberdeenshire.
Step 4: In addition, doing an inquiry about getting a fishing permit is a must. You need to get
permits for trout fishing on rivers since most of it is covered under Protection Orders. Permits are
affordable and can be easily picked up at tourist outlets, tackle shops, tour operators or angling
clubs. Standard permits will only allow you to fish for wild brown trout and rainbow trout, a
migratory fish permit is required for you to be able to do sea trout

The Dispersal Of Discipline
The dispersal of discipline in the UK via Anti Social Behaviour legislation In recent years the
Criminal Justice System has argued to reduce the prison population by incorporating punishment in
the community through use of anti social behaviour legislation (Gibbs, 2009). Behaviour once not
suitable for criminalisation has been dubbed anti social that may cause harassment, alarm or
distress (Home Office, 2003) which requires a form of punitive focus to prohibit risk to society,
however the definition is largely contested as being ambiguous (Doolin Child, 2011). Since the
introduction of Labour in 1997, collated evidence by people of a community has been a main
priority in determining the punishment of delinquent others to control... Show more content on

quality of life of the deviant youth should be at the forefront if the Government is to ever succeed

How the Media Influences the Public Perception of Science...
Sometimes careless science publishing can weaken the public s confidence in science and the
government. The Media is enormously powerful and leading and will influence people s opinions
on everything. There are plenty of stories in the media that will change the public s perception of
science or even make them see a new perception. Sometimes these stories are just written to scare
the public into believing a certain thing just so they can sell their stories.
Stories sometimes are true and sometimes they are false but it is up to the public to believe in
what is right and what is wrong. In this day and age, where information is available at the touch of

The tabloid newspaper is the Sun and the broadsheet newspaper is the Times.
Firstly I will analyse the story written by the Sun, this tabloid covered the same story as the
Times and therefore we can find out their intentions. The Sun had the following bold headline
Deadly strain confirmed , I can clearly see from the start that they are trying to create a scare in
the public and capture the reader s attention very fast, this is because they don t tell you what
deadly strain they are talking about, if I were to see this in a newspaper lying around I would
pick it up because it already got me worried and caught my attention. This has made me think, are
they trying to inform the reader or just trying to sell their story? You only learn what the deadly
strain is after you read paragraph 1 so this proves my point.
On the 3rd paragraph the Sun states the following the swan had the strain which can be fatal to
humans. Instead of just using the swan had the H5N1 strain the Sun chooses to create more of an
impact by using the word fatal and implying it to humans. This makes the beginning of the article
to cause fear, evoke an element of alarm and perhaps imply that the readers should be fearful for
their own health. The article also mentions experts rushing to the scene to

The Chile Of Peru And Chile
For the fault zone that I chose to research for this project, I chose the Peru Chile Trench, also
known as the Chile Subduction Megathrust and as the Atacama Trench. It is called that because
the area between Peru and Chile is called The Atacama , and such was the plate named. The Peru
Chile trench is located along the western coast of Peru and Chile. It marks the zone where the
Nazca plate is being subducted beneath the South American plate and is approximately 3,666 miles
long. (Britannica, p.1)
Located on the fault are sediments, amongst them are turbidites. Turbidites are areas of sediment

Therefore, there are many seismic events that have taken place on our geologic timeline and at the
same time shaped our historic timeline.
The most recent large scale earthquake along the Peru Chile Plate was the 16 September
earthquake, which happened in 2015. It measured an M 8.3, one of the largest on record. 5 were
killed, and over 1 million were evacuated from greatly affected areas. However, compared to other
earthquakes that have taken place in Chile, this one was moderate.
In 2010, an 8.8 Mw earthquake shook Chile. It was approximately 200 miles southwest of Chile
and was approximately 375 miles long. A 2014 study attributed the quake to immense water
pressure located between the two plates. The region was stricken by strong aftershocks for months
after the quake, many of a magnitude of 5.0 Mw or greater.
The Tsunami that took place after the initial quake was caused by a portion of seabed rupturing
upwards, and displacing a large portion of the water being displaced. This water traveled at 450
miles, at 8 feet tall, to the Chilean and Peruvian coast. Early viewers of the tsunami later reported
waves being up to 10 feet tall. This rupture was believed to be caused by 2 unusually dense pieces
of seabed that had been previously undetected by scientists, and consequently caused a large
displacement of water. There were also small ruptures of seismic

Race And Racism In The Movie Glory Road
Throughout the years racism has been a problem in this world and is why I choose to watch
Glory Road. The movie also teaches that in this life things can be accomplished no matter what
the obstacles are for example your race. So let s take a look at the three cultural conflicts In Glory
Road, the first being colored people versus white people, second is a poor school versus rich school,
and lastly players versus coach. So the first cultural conflict in Glory road is colored people
versus white people and it s the most important issue in the movie. In the movie blacks are
treated prolly just because of their skin color. A really sad scene from the movies was when
Texas Western went to eat at a dinner and when Ched went to use the restroom he was jumped by
three white men. Another reason from Glory road was when Texas Western went to play other
colleges they were usually welcomed by other schools by throwing trash at the Texas Western
players in addition when the players names were be called for the starting line up... Show more

said his school was on a low budget. Then when Don went to the school gymnasium the floor
was squeaky and the lights were messed up. Funny thing was that the birds were leaving on top
of the ceiling lights. Additionally before Don accepted the job of coaching Texas Western men

coach to New York to recruit some players, coach Don had to pay his flight from his own pocket.

Jon Krakauer, released a nonfiction novel in the winter of January 1996, he created a book that

McCandless. The book clutches that young man s family lives and conceives to his parents, Billie
and Walt McCandless and also his sister Carine, that Christopher s life was of great significance
and was very much appreciated, it also lays a footprint in the lives that McCandless had met before
he also met his untimely demise. Krakauer s ultimate purpose of constructing the book, Into the

Krakauer did in fact believe that Christopher Johnson McCandless was completely sane. The
question of why would a man, who had great potential and many spoils want to venture out and
make a life in the wilderness where he has just his name and a handful of items? Krakauer
discussed that he found evidence that McCandless didn t seek out after the materialistic items
which his parents offered him, that s why his reaction to the car offer was greatly dramatic.
Krakauer has written the novel Into the Wild to use as a cautionary tale to say that the trait of
happiness isn t merely a trait at all. Happiness is indeed a characteristic that must be shared among
others in order to be true happiness. I HAVE HAD A HAPPY LIFE AND THANK THE LORD.
GOODBYE AND MAY GOD BLESS ALL! (199.) Krakauer described McCandless as a man who
faced death and stared it in the face but, after all that had happened to him he was at peace, serene
as a monk gone to God.

Essay on Death of a Salesman and Street Car Named Desire
Biff: will you take that phony dream and burn it before something happens
Compare how the authors of Death of a salesman and street car named desire explore the conflict

Truth and illusion are utilized in Tennessee Williams Streetcar Named Desire and Arthur Miller s
Death of a salesman through the use of the character; to lead the reader to a possible conclusion on
the beliefs that went into the American dream that prompted people to work hard was that america

This Contrasts Millers use of this dramatic technique as The Harmonious Flute is used to obscure
Willys sense reality, in contrast to Williams use of it to identify Blanches reality. Unlike Blanche,
Willy is compltetly oblivious to the truth and resides to his memories to conceal himself away
from the reality that the American dream has failed him. The flute is reminiscent of Willys past
and often symblozies when Willy is reminscing becasue he is unable to bare the truth that his
American dream is failing. This shows that Willy is unable to deal with the truth due to the false
reality that the maerican dream has presented him with and made him beliveing into. The best
example of this is the tape recorder which Willy accodentally sets in motion. In its shrieking ,
unpleasent tones of a child recounting phrases, we see how awful it is for Willy to have to live
an accurate account of the past such as this. This is a vivid expression of his unconscious desire to
repress the truth. This is proven even before the start of the play where the first stage directions

Australian Urbanisation Early 1900 s
The process of urbanisation is a central feature of Australian history. By 1900 over two thirds of
Australians were living in areas that were classified as urban. The growth of these cities was
encouraged by various factors; the interaction and engagement of economic, demographic, political
and social characteristics are definitely the key features that promoted the urbanisation of Australia.
However, with the development of Australia came problems that people living in cities had to
face. Environmental and health difficulties were to be over come in the city suburbs while
economic depression followed after a period of prosperity and progress.

Unlike in Britain, urbanisation had stimulated the growth of industrialisation.
By the nineteenth century, Australia had a relatively affluent, well housed, well fed and a healthy
population. The first increase in population occurred in 1830 when a bounty system, to catch
escaped convicts, was introduced and immigration was assisted on a large scale. During the 1850 s
the gold rushes bought the next influx of immigrants and Australia s population more than doubled
over a period of ten years. In this time before 1860, population grew largely due to immigration
rather than natural increase. In most urban areas a higher rate of population or an increasing degree
of urbanisation may be gained through natural increase, from immigration or a sizeable movement
from rural to urban areas. In Australia it was a merging of these three factors that encouraged
urbanisation. Yet, over seas migration was the most important source of Australian metropolitan
population growth, followed closely by natural increase. Rural to urban drift of population was
much less important, except during the post gold rush periods. The demographic variables such as
age structure, fertility, mortality, and marriage rates were also of considerable economic, social and
political significance, advancing

Demand And Supply Of Oil Prices
The sporadic nature of oil prices has over the years posed as a great deal of concern to
economists, investors, financiers, consumers, analysts and other relevant stakeholders. In a perfect
market, the price of a commodity is an indication of the present circumstances as well as future
signals that could impact demand and supply. Ordinarily, we expect prices of commodities to
move in response to changes that affect demand and supply at a relatively normal rate. When
prices change drastically within a short period and consistently over time, then such market is
fraught with high volatility a typical case of the crude oil market. A sudden increase in oil price
becomes a concern for the consumer as it results into a reduction in his purchasing power; thereby
struggling with allocation of income among competing demands. For an investor, high price
volatility increases risk associated with the investment and also creates uncertainties. High volatility
will impact the macroeconomic variables in an economy including but not limited to
unemployment, inflation, consumption, investment and industrial output (Ebrahim, Inderwildi et
al. 2014a). This paper seeks to evaluate oil price volatility by examining the trend of oil price
from 1970 to 2013. Attempts will be made to explain the causes and root factors influencing price
changes. Finally, a view on whether oil price volatility is inevitable will be established. Annual

Ottoman Disadvantages and its Implications on The Siege of...
Under Suleiman the Magnificent the Ottoman Empire was a force to be reckoned with, it ruled
the Middle East and Suleiman was quickly realizing his goal of advancing into Europe. However
in 1529 a major military upset in the Austrian city of Vienna would halt the Islamic Ottoman
expansion and save Europe from the possibility of Ottoman control. However this might not had
been the case if it were not for several key disadvantages the Ottoman Empirehad against the
Viennese. Suleiman the Magnificents defeat during the siege of Vienna, 1529, was caused by poor
weather conditions, chaos and disorganization amongst the Ottoman ranks, and a much stronger
Viennese defense than was anticipated.

This divided Hungary into two states, Royal Hungary and Ottoman Hungary, this division lasted
until 1700.
In the spring of 1529 Suleiman the Magnificent began to construct his massive army in Ottoman
Bulgaria, his objective is to conquer and secure control over all of Hungary and eliminate the
threat posed by Ferdinand I and the Holy Roman Empire. Estimates of the size of Suleiman s army
vary vastly from around 100,000 men to well over 300,000. The army also consisted of many units
of Sapahi, the elite Ottoman Calvary, and thousands and thousands of Janissaries, an extremely well
trained Ottoman fighting force. With such a vast group moving all at once there were certain
inherent difficulties the Ottomans faced. The biggest of these would be the sheer chaos caused by
the disorganization. Desertion was particularly rampant amongst the Ottoman forces and with the
disorganization it was nearly impossible to properly distribute resources, malnourishment was a big
problem because of the difficulty of acquiring food. This would mark a major disadvantage of the
Ottoman morale; it diminished their will to fight, and thus, their will to win.
Suleiman launched his campaign on May 10th, because this was so late in the year, the weather
was almost immediately a problem. The spring rains associated with that area of Europe caused
flooding and bridge wash outs were very common, this barley allowed to troops to leave

Preventing Physical Abuse Essay
Imagine being a three year old little boy and being attacked by your mother for going to the
bathroom in your pants. A little boy named Noah was brutally beaten to death for doing something
any three year old would accidently do. His mother and her boyfriend had spanked and punched
him leading to his last breath. (Carlson) This is an example of physical abuse. Physical abuse is the
infliction of physical injury to a person. (Martin 10) There is no leading cause to this type of
abuse. Physical abuse takes up 22.4% of all types of abuse in the United States. (Giarding) Many
physically abusive caregivers say that their physical abuse is just discipline to make the child

What Matters To Consumer Essay
What matters to Consumers?
Today, the differences in Macintosh computers and personal computers are smaller, but still
important. In fact, you can do everything on a Mac that you can do on a PC and vice versa. It is
more about how much you want to pay and what you will get in return. By looking at options
based on quality, capability, and price, we will see what consumers need. Choice and options are
driving factors for modern day consumers looking to buy a new computer.

Dahlmann hated himself in minute detail: he hated his identity, his bodily necessities, his

his fate. He decided at this moment that if he left he would live his life to the fullest and actually

John Eldredge s Wild At Heart
The premise behind Wild at Heart by John Eldredge is simply put: astounding. A book that dives
into the male psyche of today. Who we are, why we re here, what we do; or sometimes rather
don t do. Wild at Heart works hard to break the stereo type of what men are taught to be by the
world around them, and in doing so, helps self diagnose why you, as a guy living in todays
world, might feel unfulfilled. Long story short, I feel as though Eldredge communicated the
premise of Wild at Heart quite effectively. The hypothesis is proved several times throughout the
book, actually, each chapter helps prove the belief. However, the three main points in Wild at
Heart are the most potent. As men, we are innately wired for adventure, bravery and beauty. So
the main focuses in this book are as follows: A Battle to Fight, A Beauty to Rescue, and An
Adventure to Live. Somewhere along the way, so many of us fall along the way side of these
points. As Eldredge puts it, we hang up our six shooter and cowboy hat and grow up just as the
world has told us to do. We now see adventure as trading stocks and going to meetings at a
different coffee shop than usual. Society in large can t make up its mind about men. Where are the
real men? The world asks us. The answer that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Linear Analysis Lab Report
This experiment was performed to understand the process of linear least squared analysis as well
as developing the skills to use EXCEL and having the criteria for the best line of fit to ones
graphs. Linear least squared analysis is a statistical method to determine a line of best fit by
minimizing the sum of squares created by a mathematical function. A square is determined by
squaring the distance between a data point and the regression line. For the 1st order kinetics
graph, the y axis was for the sum of ln(A). The straight line equation came out to be y= 0.0224x
0.546 while the regression line was at a 0.99564 which was very good. For the 2nd order kinetics
graph, the y axis was for the sum of 1/A. The straight line equation came out to be
y=0.0575x+1.6104 while the regression line was at a 0.97327 which was also quite good. Each
data set had 9 degrees of freedom. The F value for the first graph was 2057.16 and the 2nd graph
was 327.67. Introduction: We used a set of data using least squares procedures and decided from
the evidence whether the 1st or 2nd order kinetics was a better suited match to describe the data.

involves a pair of measurements of an independent variable x and a dependent variable y. In this
case, our independent variable was Time(minutes) and the dependent variable was Abs(ODU). We

19th Century Policing
Since the dawn of human kind, there has been some form of policing; whether that policing is
based on taking revenge or the maintenance of public order and upholding the laws of the land.
Although 200 years have passed, policing policies fundamentally has not changed. In this essay, I
will be writing on early policing before the 19th century, policing in the 19th century, how policing
evolved in America, policing now, and then compare the similarities and differences between today
s policing policies and those of the 19th century.
With early peoples and their communities, there was no one that was officially charged with
upholding the laws. That duty was left mostly to the citizens, who would simply take vengeance
on those who wronged them or a family member (Helme 1). Eventually a system was developed,
known as tithing system, in which groups of people would come together to keep the peace in
their areas (Bohm, Haley 136). If these areas were large enough, then they would be grouped into
a hundred, and one or several hundred constituted a shire and governed by a shire reeve (Bohm,
Haley 136).
Before the advent of the what would be the metropolitan police force, there was in place a system
in which citizens, called constables, would patrol certain areas at night. One of the most notable
criticisms of the watch system was that the constables would often neglect their duties in favor of
getting drunk or sleeping and that they had little to no training. This practice was

Causes and Treatments of Peptic Ulcer Disease
A peptic ulcer can be defined as an excavation that forms in the mucosal wall of the stomach, in
the pylorus, in the duodenum, or in the esophagus (Brunner, Suddarth and Smeltzer, 2008).
According to Fromm, (2009) Helobactor pylori is a gram negative bacteria that is the cause of
most peptic ulcer disease and is considered a primary risk factor in the development of gastic
cancer (pg. 394). Other causes include stress, and excessive secrtion of Hydrochloric acid in the
stomach. Transmission of H. pylori according to Gurney, Carvalho, Gonzalez, Galaviz Sonstein
(2014) states there is strong research supporting that H. pylori can be spread person to person
through direct contact with saliva, vomit, or fecal matter (pg. 393). H. Pylori is more prevalent in
crowded areas without reliable access to clean water. Other risk factors include poor hygiene,
smoking, and close living conditions with someone who is infected with H. pylori. Symptoms of an
ulcer include a burning sensation in the stomach and esophagus, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation
and bleeding. Treatment of Peptic UlcerDisease includes antibiotics to eradicate H. pylori bacteria;
proton pump inhibitors are used to treat NSAID induced ulcers and other ulcers not associated with
the bacterial infection, smoking cessation and dietary modifications. Surgical management is
recommended for ulcers that fail to heal after 12 16 months of treatments and the procedures
include pyloroplasy, anrectomy or vagotomy.

Summary Of Sleuthing The Alamo
Sleuthing the Alamo is a very interesting book written by James E Crisp that was published in
2005. The book focuses on talking about unveiling the myths that occurred during the Texas
revolution. Myths such as Davy Crockett s death are explained in this book which is probably the
centerpiece of this text. Not only does it unveil some myths but it tells us some anecdotes that
happened back then. James E Crisp reveals this information by using reliable sources such as books,
documents, paintings, films and among others. The story begins with the author telling us what

was a deep segregation in his hometown of Henrietta as he was growing up he never talked to an
African American kid until he was attending college. Since he was just a child he didn t really
understand why people of color were treated differently or looked down upon. Sadly
discrimination also happened within his family as he states that Not taking blacks seriously as
individuals and at the same time reacting to their incongruous presence with hysteria (either
comedic or tragic) was a major part of our way of life. (p.16).
During 1992 he was in process of completing an article laying out his revisionist case and during
this process he encountered something that made him feel disappointed. What the author
encountered was a racist speech by Sam Houston who was James Texas boyhood idol, which

Professor Vo mentioned the idea that many immigrant families whose descendants grow up in
the United States as opposed to their home country tend to grow up differently. An example is
the multigenerational Japanese families living in the United States as growing up the first
generation made their entire families and future generations act very Americanized to assimilate
into the community. This idea is not forgotten in Su s memoir when he talks about wearing a
suit at Bob Big Boy s, I don t want to wear my suit. ... We are going to be eating with white

how he does not want to wear his suit for something that seemed so trivial while his father insists
he does so that they impress the white people that they can act and look like them. It can then be
assumed that early on in his childhood, his family wanted to be like the white community so that
they could better fit in when living in America. However, this proves to become contradictory
later in the memoir when Su tells his father that he loves him. His father s response, Are you
trying to imitate those white people by telling me those fucking words? (Su 150). This proves to
become quite a contradictory response to what he previously told his son before of not being

Utopia
Utopia The Impossibility of Perfection
The latter end of [this] commonwealth forgets the beginning. ?William Shakespeare, The Tempest
From Plato s The Republic to Karl Marx s Communist Manifesto, the search for a perfect social
state has never stopped; its ultimate goal of achieving a human society that exists in absolute
harmony with all due social justice, however, has proved to be woefully elusive. The pure concept
of a utopia can be theoretically visualized as a perfect geometric circle: one that is seamless, all
inclusive, yet impossible to draw out in reality.
In 1516, Sir Thomas More depicted in his famed Utopia what he envisioned to be an ideal state?one

What, then, is the root of all these evils? According to Hythloday, it is the economic system that
is built upon the fundamental principle of private ownership: So long as private property
remains, there is no hope at all of effecting a cure and restoring society to good health (More, 29)
Utopia has no currency, no use for precious metals or luxury of any sort, and most importantly
abolishes private ownership. The result, as Hythloday mythically describes it, is a perfect world
in which people leave in accord because they are cut off from the source of greed and envy. In this
world, people develop a complete detachment to the unnecessary material life because they do not
own anything except for their own bodies. Yet despite its apparent seamlessness, this theory is
doomed to fall apart when it is subjected to examination from the capitalistic perspective. When the

Turing Red Flag By Toby Walsh
Toby Walsh addresses a number of concerns that many will overlook when it comes to
technological advancements such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). I am sure there will be many
who will be too fascinated by an AI inhibiting human behavior to worry about the consequences.
As some may argue, we re just not at that point yet for many to care. However, as we get closer I
do believe that the Turing Red Flag would benefit society as whole but not for all the reasons
Walsh discusses. First, I agree that self driven vehicles should clearly be identifiable to human
drivers. It could serve for a number of purposes, similar to how student drivers are identifiable on

It makes sense considering how we currently do not have anything in place to safeguard us from
issues that may arise in the future. I feel like it s a step in the right direction but it depends on
how deep the law wants to go in regulating the use of AI. The basic concept of the law seems fine,
though. For example, going back to autonomous cars and how they should be identifiable to
human drivers, it should be something subtle like what Walsh said, a distinct license plate. It
definitely should not have a flashing green light placed on top of the vehicle. Imagine a world
of self driving cars all with flashing green lights. It s not only intrusive but it s also very
distracting. If we had AI blatantly impersonating a celebrity, such as commentating the World Cup
as Messi, we wouldn t it periodically inform us that he s a bot because as mentioned earlier, it
would take away from the experience. It might create a new social norm where humans will
themselves pretend to be AI and who knows what issues (if any) that will bring. In addition to
requiring AI to properly introduce themselves, it should also indicate that it s collecting data. Thus,
the basic concepts of the Turing Red Flag law should be sustainable while carrying numerous

Nuba Wrestling, The Original Art
*Pankration* According to Nigel Binns, in his book Nuba Wrestling, the original art he speaks
of the Greecian art of wrestling boxing called Pankration, which was originally an art form from
Africa (It is similar to Nuba Wrestling mixed with Hausa Boxing) and that the Greeks adopted it

White Collar vs Blue Collar
Imagine there is a society, and in this society there are only two households, one of them is a
white collar family, the other is a blue collar or working class family. To keep it simple, white
collar workers are highly skilled and usually work in an office setting, while blue collar workers
perform more labor based jobs and get their hands dirty. Now you may ask, what do these two
groups have to do with each other? Well, their differences are what bring them together, and
neither group would be able to operate without the other. Personally, I grew up and still live in a
white collar familyand this alone has shaped my household environment. I would also imagine
growing up in the other class would have an impact on your household environment as well.
Although these two households are quite different from each other, they still impact one another
and society today wouldn t be the same without either of them. If someone were to talk about a

home I think of a place of peace and acceptance that you share with the ones you love. No matter
what your definition of home is, everyone grows up in a different home environment. I first lived in
Farmington, Minnesota but eventually moved to Prescott, Wisconsin in fourth grade. One of the
things that I think has effected my very own home environment is the fact that my dad has a white

The Bad Sides Of Evil In Shakespeare s Hamlet As A Bad Man
Hamlet as a Bad Man The Hamlet is one of the greatest plays by Shakespeare, which provides an
account of an example of the Victorian royal feud. The main character of the play, Hamlet, whose
characters help in providing the directions for the play, depicts different demeanors depending on
how one views him. It is normative for a prince to orchestrate the revenge for the death of his
father, especially if the killer occupies the throne that one is an heir of. The play, therefore, may
help in depicting Hamletas a bad person in different views in terms of the political crisis that his
kingdom was going through.
The Bad Sides of Hamlet The book The Hamlet by Shakespeare provides an account of a political
crisis that enveloped the kingdom of Denmark. King Claudius murdered his brother and married his
wife queen Gertrude because of malice. The king had a beautiful wife, was prosperous and ruled
the kingdom, all to the envy of his brother. Hamlet, the son of the slain king, was an orderly and
well behaved prince as the play begins. He is in love with Ophelia, and befriends many of the
workers in the palace, until his father s ghost appears to him and exposes to him the truth, requiring
him to avenge the death of his father; So art thou to revenge, when thou shalt hear... (Shakespeare).
It is evident that evil resided in the heart of Hamlet all these while, for from the time the ghost
insinuated at exposing to him who killed his father he retorted, Haste me to know, that I,

What Does Betrayal Mean To You Essay
To someone I loved,
There was a point in time when I was hurt. It was emotional so there weren t any physical marks
for evidence. I had been hurt by the words and actions of those close to me. There was a quote I
saw that said, The saddest part about betrayal is that is always comes from the ones you believe
were loyal. That quote lived true for me. Betrayal comes around but only from the ones you thought
were loyal. It s hard for me to trust anyone, but the pain should wear off in the night. By morning, I
ll forget there was ever pain in the first place.
I had been hurt before but this time around, the pain was different. It came with a sense of
endangerment. I had a feeling something bad would happen as the pain diminished each day. So ...

Metaphorically speaking, of course. My guard was put down, and I was hit. The cannonball
struck me in the area where many before me had been hurt: my heart. Now I was in disbelief
because I couldn t trust my instincts for an extended period of time. Who was this cannonball?
Well, it was someone who I thought was close to me, someone who I thought wouldn t crush my
heart the way it was shattered. That person was you.
You didn t directly hurt me though. This time it was a matter of games I played in my head. At that
time, I couldn t admit I has fallen in love with you. I was putting an unnecessary weight on my
shoulders. Luckily, that weight didn t kill me. That weight weakened me for sure, but I wasn t
dead yet. Theoretically speaking, I could ve openly admitted to loving you and the weight could ve
been removed.
Instead, I chose to take the more difficult path. That path sent me to sleep every night with a
pounding in my head. Every bang was another denial. I couldn t fall in love. I absolutely couldn t
fall in love. Trying to persuade myself, I continued to say it over and over again. You betrayed me.
Although it was indirect, you still hurt me because I never imagined you for being the cause of the
hammering in my head. You broke my heart without intentionally doing. You broke my heart
without even knowing

The United States Army Aviation Operations
Although Army Aviation has endured a multitude of challenging moments throughout history, none
have compared to those faced in the land that has historically dared and tried many great nations
such as the Macedonian Army around 330 B.C. and the Russian Army in the 1970 s and 1980 s.
Because of this, this paper will be an informative look at the challenges the United States Army
Aviation Operations faced during Operation Enduring freedomin Afghanistan from 2001 to 2014.
Included in the research, I will discuss the unforgiving terrain, such as a high mountain environment
Aviators operated in, the extreme temperatures, degraded visual cues, the human errors aspect, as
well the enemy situation, all which tested them all.
Aviation Operations in Operation Enduring Freedom A Sense of Reality To illustrate my point,
imagine your mission is to conduct a night air assault (AA) into a rocky mountain top landing zone
(HLZ) that is perched high upon the Hindu Kush. In addition to the confinement and high altitude
of the HLZ, your aircraft is loaded to its maximum capacity; with a crew of four plus 12 fully
loaded combat troops. Furthermore, the moon illumination is steadily decreasing, and by H hour
the backdrop has crossed into a dark sea of incomprehensible pictures. At this point, you have just
check marked the four death inducing factors of flying in Afghanistan: high, hot, heavy, and dark.
After several failed attempts to land at your LZ, it becomes clear that the environment

Describe The Main Hypothesis Tested In The Study
1.Describe the main hypothesis tested in the study.
The main hypothesis being tested within the study was whether or not the fusiform gyrus was a
Region of Interest (ROI) that specialised in the perception of the human face. This main hypothesis
was confirmed in Part 1 of testing and was thus expanded in Part II and III, in which they
eliminated alternative hypothesis.
2.Explain why this new ROI technique is important for fMRI research.
The Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is a functional neuroimaging procedure that
used MRI technology to measure our brains activity through blood flow changes and our voxels.
In past experiments the researcher would have been required to scan images of the entire brain for
each comparison, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Explain one of the alternative accounts of the function of the FFA and how the current study is able
to refute (prove wrong) this account.
Imaging studies in the past have reported that the region of the fusiform gyrus is more active during
face recognition than object viewing, during face matching than location matching and during
viewing normal faces other than scrambled faces or textures. This research was a great beginning,
but it does not establish that this FFA is specifically involved in face recognition, as there is a range
of alternative interpretations of what can activate our brains. These alternative interpretations
include low level feature extraction, visual attention that is greater in faces and recognition of basic
items and recognition of human objects.
To test the first hypothesis the researcher ran an initial test to determine that the Region of Interest
was the fusiform gyrus. Following this he then measured the activity in this specific region to
subjects using four comparison tasks. Each of these tasks tested the alternative accounts that were
previously listed.
Part III tested one of these alternative accounts for faces compared with another human object e.g
hands. In these tests the data that was collected displayed higher intensity reactions in the ROI
when parts of the face were compared to viewing human

The Death Of The Front Door Of A Home
In the front door of a home, a police officer is waiting to give terrible news to a family. I am
sorry, your son died in a car accident. The evidence found in the scene leads to the conclusion
that your son was driving while texting. A simple text message can change your life forever and
the life of innocent people around you. The only reward you will gain from this event, is a toe
tag; a tag that is place only on dead people. Many people died each year while driving and texting
and it is disgraceful to see authorities not suspending the person s driver licensee or taking him
to jail. I am against this event, due to the painful consequences it contains. Each time a person is
driving and texting, they are holding a Russian revolver. The person can have luck and pull the
trigger without having any consequences, however the person can run out of luck and one day
die in the scene. The person at times does not die alone; instead, the person drags innocent
people to the arms of death with him. A couple of letters are not worth your life or the life of
others, so why even try to take a risk? If you are having trouble containing yourself from using
your smart phone devised, there are many ways to avoid a toe tag. In order to avoid a deadly car
collision, an individual can text before driving, place his smartphone devised out of his reached or
just simply turn it off (Goldsborough). Such simple tasks to do and yet many people decided to be
rebels. It is amazing how people rather

The Misconceptions Of Authoritarianism
Authoritarianism is a regime type and, furthermore, a political vision that seeks to create
compliance in authority and establish order and peace by striving for absolute legitimacy. In an
authoritarian regime, power relations are vertically organized, where there is little to no
accountability for those in power and where civil and political rights of citizens, if established, are
restrictive and violated. Two common misconceptions of authoritarianismare that they are durable
and they have always have a paternal figure as leader. To the first point: though an authoritarian
regime would be relatively simple to establish, the difficult task of legitimizing and consolidating
absolute authority makes authoritarian rule an incredibly arduous endeavour. Authoritarian regimes
can easily be snubbed out as quickly as they began to burn, pointing to how the legitimacy of
authority is by far the most essential tool to the authoritarian. But who is the authoritarian? Many
see authoritarian regimes as patrimonial, meaning that though there still might be complex
institutions of bureaucracy, security, and even political parties, all authority comes from the top
and the top alone. However, there can also be authoritarian regimes run by an institution, whether
through a military junta or hegemonic political party. Authoritarianism can easily derive from civil
society instead of through the military, yet the coercive powers of military are essential for
consolidating power. The rise and

Analysis On Spanish And American Culture

However, the hope of building a new life wasn t the only reason why Europeans crossed the
Atlantic, ambitious countries like Spain wanted to colonize the new land, in order to increase their
wealth. Spanish explorers took to the sea to claim new colonies for Spain. Known as
conquistadores, they conquered much of the Americas. (Danzer, Gerald A. The Americans. Student
text. Evanstan: McDougal Littel, 2005.). Spanish explorers lived among the Native Americans, and
built several missions in the south and west of the US, were they taught Native Americans their
culture and language, not always in the friendliest way, as they abused Native Americans
physically, and punished them if they didn t obey them. This oppression behavior led to several
uprisings against the Spanish, ending with the victory of the Native Americans. In spite of this,
Spanish culture had already spread along the south and the west of the US, and still remains on the
continent, irrevocably linking the two cultures. But this link is still not strong enough to overcome
the time that has elapsed since Spanish and Native Americans shared the same land, and that s why
the two cultures still have some differences.

Casino Gambling Argumentative Essay
I don t gamble because winning a hundred dollars doesn t give me great pleasure, But losing a
hundred dollars pisses me off (Alex Trebek). I am here to tell you why Casino Gambling is such
a big problem in this country and why it should be stopped. How does not just affect people in a
way that can destroy any type of life they have built up, to how it hurts the people that just love
around casinos
The interesting thing about this is that Gambling was illegal until around the 80 s. Today, casino
gambling is legal in 23 states. Of those states most of these casinos aren t the Grand Style Las
Vegas casinos where people can stay the night and see a show. They are small where the only form
of entertainment is throwing your money away. (Frum,2013) Due to this, it is really easy for
someone to get sucked in and create an addiction to gambling that can easily get out of control.
People (Healthstatus.com) have argued the gambling is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This statement is false. In 1978 New Jersey allowed Atlantic City to build up casinos to help
revive their fading economy. At first, there was a little raise in the economy and more jobs were
being created but in the long run it did nothing to help the economy. This is because that most of
the money that goes into a casino, stays in a casino. The rest of the profits that go into taxes are
spent on helping the community after the negative side effects of creating a casino. (Newburger,
2009) According to the National Association of Realtors, communities within 10 miles of a casino
show double the rate of crime, poverty, and other financial distress. In research done by Ph.D
Harriet Newburger, in 1999 the city s poverty rate was 23.6% compared to the national average
of 11.3%. It was 12.9% in 2005 while the national average was 5.8%. Even now, the rate is still
higher that the rate was in 1978 when gambling was made legal.

The Effect Of Insulin Humalog On Lowering Blood Glucose...
Audience and Purpose of Description
The audience for this description is the population of Type I Diabetes, Type II diabetes, their
caregivers, they health care providers, as well as general public interested in this process. The
purpose of this technical document is to inform the audience, step by step how Insulin Humalog
works in lowering blood glucose level.
Introduction to Process
Every human body wants to maintain blood glucose (blood sugar) level in normal range (70 100mg
/dl). After we eat, the stomach digest food breaking it down into type of sugar, called glucose.
Furthermore, this glucose is released into the bloodstream (Figure 1). The rise of glucose level
triggers the pancreas, one of the body s organ, to release insulin, a hormone, it blood stream.

Prejudice, Stereotyping and Discrimination on the Web
Prejudice, Stereotyping and discrimination on the Web People think that racism and discrimination
doesn t exist anymore, but surprisingly they do; both existed throughout human history.
Discrimination may be defined as a negative, harmful behaviour toward people based on their group
membership. Whereas prejudice which is an opinion rather than a fact; is a negative attitude toward
members of a group, that is often very strongly held. Stereotypes are individuals beliefs that
members of a group share particular attributes; someone might think that Arabs are terrorists, or
doctors are intelligent and compassionate. Unlike prejudice and discrimination terms that refer to
negative attitudes or actions stereotypes can be either... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

they would eat more rather than fixing their problem. Old Fashioned Prejudice is one of the forms
of prejudice; the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) is name of three distinct past and present right wing
organizations in the United States. After the American Civil War the KKK was created on
December 24, 1865, this group represents the White Christian civilization they believe in many
concepts and rights that should be essential to civilized and moral society. Some people might find
them as ignorant and racist but they are certainly convinced about their beliefs and actions towards
illegal immigrants and black people. On one of the hate websites KKK they mention white all the
time that others might be offended and bothered, their mission is to live in a country with white
people only. Again Frustration caused this group it started after the War before that people didn t
mind black people. Martin Luther King has become a human rights icon and he represented all
African Americans; he fought for their rights since the 50 s. Throughout the history till the present
African Americans still might feel discriminated and an outcast. Stereotypes is a huge effect on
people and how they feel about others, a kid might not think of a Black man in the middle

New entrants to the automotive market have been a threat to General Motors. Some of these
entrants include Nissan and Hyundai. Although, they have been around for a while, they are
increasingly gaining a large portion of the market and have been very efficient in product
development and bringing new models to the market quickly. In response to this threat General
Motors has attempted to stream line their product development portion of their business. In the
past, General Motors would have to go through several departments and systems to take a car from
design phase to actual production. The average was typically 48 months for this process.
After some analysis, General Motors has formed a single committee that now handles the entire
product development process. They removed all of their former design and

  • 2. Pros And Cons Of Prince Hamlet Would anybody that is truly insane ever actually claim to others that he or she is insane (or pretending to be insane), as Prince Hamlet did to his trusted companions Horatio and Marcellus? Most likely not, as such a person probably would not be able to realize the extent of his or her delusion on his or her own, and therefore would stubbornly deny that he or she is in fact crazy. Furthermore, would any truly mad individual ever, if given a relatively easy opportunity to take his or her revenge against someone who had committed great wrongs against him or her (and therefore caused the individual to fall into insanity in the first place), take the time to evaluate the pros and cons of taking revenge at that time as Prince Hamletdid while his hated uncle Claudius (who had apparently killed Hamlet s father, the king of Denmark, taken the Danish throne for himself, and even married Hamlet s mother Gertrude in the process) was attempting to pray for forgiveness for his wicked deeds and... Certainly not a truly insane person would have taken his or her revenge immediately on impulse (of course, unless he or she had become so crazy that all of his or her memories or senses had been lost) without even fully realizing the details of the situation. These examples, as well as Hamlet s purposefully disheveled appearances before his former love Ophelia, his playful conversation with Ophelia s father (and Claudius s adviser and lackey) Polonius, and his actions after his murder of Polonius, seem to show that the madness displayed by Hamlet during several key parts of Williams Shakespeare s famous tragic play Hamlet was not real, but feigned. Despite this, many common readers (and audiences) of Shakespeare s Hamlet are still often left believing that the titular Prince Hamlet s supposedly feigned antic disposition is actually genuine ... • 3. Identity And Identity In Alice Walker s Everyday Use HOW DOES ONE DEFINE ONE S HERITAGE It has been said that One of the greatest regrets in life is being what others would want you to be, rather than being yourself. What should matter is being true to oneself and loving the person that you have become. This short story is narrated by Mama who is telling her story of her two daughters, Dee and Maggie. Both daughters live their lives in very different ways. In Dee s case, she goes out to make all that she can of herself while leaving her mother and sister behind. Maggie stays at home with their Mama and makes the most out of what surrounds her. All three ladies have different perspectives of their own heritage and identity. The conflict in Everyday Use is that Mama has these two daughters fighting over a quilt. In the end, readers will find that what matters most is not forgetting where you come from and who you are as a person. In Everyday Use Alice Walker emphasizes to her readers the importance of self identities and family through her use of conflict, setting, and characterization, suggesting that sometimes people are so motivated in pleasing others while neglecting the things that matter to them the most. One s heritage and identity should not be separated from one s everyday life. The Everyday Use story takes place in the late 1960s in the southern regions of America during the time when African Americans were fighting for their identity and to preserve whatever heritage they have. According to the statement that Mama made, colored asked fewer questions then than they do now . In the yard, Mama awaits her daughter s return. The theme setting plays an important role in this story because of Dee, the eldest daughter chooses to leave the place where she had grown up because she believes that nothing will become of her if she stays in her home town. She chooses to leave home and get an education while her sister Maggie stays home and is looked down upon by her sister because she chose to stay at home. According to Mama, A yard like this is more comfortable than most people know. It is not just a yard. It is an extended living room. 1 The yard and the comparison to the living room are very clear that one think of one s living room as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Essay on The Empowerment of Women in Trifles by Glaspell From the beginning the women of Trifles by Susan Glaspell do not seem to have a significant role in the play. These women appear to just be along for the ride while their husbands do the dirty work of searching through the crime scene. In the end even though they serve as secondary characters to their husbands, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters play a large role in portraying the theme of this play, and without them the plot would not have been conducted nearly the same way to get the message out to the audience. Once the investigation starts one would think that the men would be the ones to solve the investigation, when in reality they are too caught up on the stereotypes of women during this time period and completely overlook the evidence as trifles . The men instead decide skip looking through the kitchen and instead to do the majority of their investigating in barn and the bedroom because during this time period these are places where men would feel dominant over women. After some deep thought Mrs. Hale s comment I wonder if she was goin to quilt it or just knot it? (1416): finally makes sense. The women were not referring to the quilt, but were instead referring to Mrs. Wright hanging Mr. Wright. The men obviously were not very observant or well versed with quilting terminology otherwise they could have easily deciphered this phrase and known that the women had figured out the motive for the murder. The theme of this play deals with the discrimination and poor treatment of women during this time period. Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Media is enormously powerful and leading and will influence people s opinions on everything. The region was stricken by strong aftershocks for months after the quake, many of a magnitude of 5.0 Mw or greater. The Tsunami that took place after the initial quake was caused by a portion of seabed rupturing upwards, and displacing a large portion of the water being displaced. This water traveled at 450 miles, at 8 feet tall, to the Chilean and Peruvian coast. Early viewers of the tsunami later reported waves being up to 10 feet tall. Demand And Supply Of Oil Prices The sporadic nature of oil prices has over the years posed as a great deal of concern to economists, investors, financiers, consumers, analysts and other relevant stakeholders. In a perfect market, the price of a commodity is an indication of the present circumstances as well as future signals that could impact demand and supply. Ordinarily, we expect prices of commodities to move in response to changes that affect demand and supply at a relatively normal rate. When prices change drastically within a short period and consistently over time, then such market is fraught with high volatility a typical case of the crude oil market. A sudden increase in oil price becomes a concern for the consumer as it results into a reduction in his purchasing power; thereby struggling with allocation of income among competing demands. For an investor, high price volatility increases risk associated with the investment and also creates uncertainties. High volatility will impact the macroeconomic variables in an economy including but not limited to unemployment, inflation, consumption, investment and industrial output (Ebrahim, Inderwildi et al. 2014a). This paper seeks to evaluate oil price volatility by examining the trend of oil price from 1970 to 2013. Attempts will be made to explain the causes and root factors influencing price changes. In the spring of 1529 Suleiman the Magnificent began to construct his massive army in Ottoman Bulgaria, his objective is to conquer and secure control over all of Hungary and eliminate the threat posed by Ferdinand I and the Holy Roman Empire. Estimates of the size of Suleiman s army vary vastly from around 100,000 men to well over 300,000. The army also consisted of many units of Sapahi, the elite Ottoman Calvary, and thousands and thousands of Janissaries, an extremely well trained Ottoman fighting force. With such a vast group moving all at once there were certain inherent difficulties the Ottomans faced. The biggest of these would be the sheer chaos caused by the disorganization. Desertion was particularly rampant amongst the Ottoman forces and with the disorganization it was nearly impossible to properly distribute resources, malnourishment was a big problem because of the difficulty of acquiring food. This would mark a major disadvantage of the Ottoman morale; it diminished their will to fight, and thus, their will to win. Long story short, I feel as though Eldredge communicated the premise of Wild at Heart quite effectively. The hypothesis is proved several times throughout the book, actually, each chapter helps prove the belief. However, the three main points in Wild at Heart are the most potent. As men, we are innately wired for adventure, bravery and beauty. So the main focuses in this book are as follows: A Battle to Fight, A Beauty to Rescue, and An Adventure to Live. Somewhere along the way, so many of us fall along the way side of these points. As Eldredge puts it, we hang up our six shooter and cowboy hat and grow up just as the world has told us to do. Linear least squared analysis is a statistical method to determine a line of best fit by minimizing the sum of squares created by a mathematical function. A square is determined by squaring the distance between a data point and the regression line. For the 1st order kinetics graph, the y axis was for the sum of ln(A). The straight line equation came out to be y= 0.0224x 0.546 while the regression line was at a 0.99564 which was very good. For the 2nd order kinetics graph, the y axis was for the sum of 1/A. The straight line equation came out to be y=0.0575x+1.6104 while the regression line was at a 0.97327 which was also quite good. Each data set had 9 degrees of freedom. The F value for the first graph was 2057.16 and the 2nd graph was 327.67. Introduction: We used a set of data using least squares procedures and decided from the evidence whether the 1st or 2nd order kinetics was a better suited match to describe the data. In this essay, I will be writing on early policing before the 19th century, policing in the 19th century, how policing evolved in America, policing now, and then compare the similarities and differences between today s policing policies and those of the 19th century. With early peoples and their communities, there was no one that was officially charged with upholding the laws. That duty was left mostly to the citizens, who would simply take vengeance on those who wronged them or a family member (Helme 1). Eventually a system was developed, known as tithing system, in which groups of people would come together to keep the peace in their areas (Bohm, Haley 136). If these areas were large enough, then they would be grouped into a hundred, and one or several hundred constituted a shire and governed by a shire reeve (Bohm, Haley 136). Before the advent of the what would be the metropolitan police force, there was in place a system in which citizens, called constables, would patrol certain areas at night. The Bad Sides Of Evil In Shakespeare s Hamlet As A Bad Man Hamlet as a Bad Man The Hamlet is one of the greatest plays by Shakespeare, which provides an account of an example of the Victorian royal feud. The main character of the play, Hamlet, whose characters help in providing the directions for the play, depicts different demeanors depending on how one views him. It is normative for a prince to orchestrate the revenge for the death of his father, especially if the killer occupies the throne that one is an heir of. The play, therefore, may help in depicting Hamletas a bad person in different views in terms of the political crisis that his kingdom was going through. The Bad Sides of Hamlet The book The Hamlet by Shakespeare provides an account of a political crisis that enveloped the kingdom of Denmark. King Claudius murdered his brother and married his wife queen Gertrude because of malice. The king had a beautiful wife, was prosperous and ruled the kingdom, all to the envy of his brother. Hamlet, the son of the slain king, was an orderly and well behaved prince as the play begins. He is in love with Ophelia, and befriends many of the workers in the palace, until his father s ghost appears to him and exposes to him the truth, requiring him to avenge the death of his father; So art thou to revenge, when thou shalt hear... (Shakespeare). It is evident that evil resided in the heart of Hamlet all these while, for from the time the ghost insinuated at exposing to him who killed his father he retorted, Haste me to know, that I, ... • 42. What Does Betrayal Mean To You Essay To someone I loved, There was a point in time when I was hurt. It was emotional so there weren t any physical marks for evidence. I had been hurt by the words and actions of those close to me. There was a quote I saw that said, The saddest part about betrayal is that is always comes from the ones you believe were loyal. That quote lived true for me. Betrayal comes around but only from the ones you thought were loyal. It s hard for me to trust anyone, but the pain should wear off in the night. The cannonball struck me in the area where many before me had been hurt: my heart. Now I was in disbelief because I couldn t trust my instincts for an extended period of time. Who was this cannonball? Well, it was someone who I thought was close to me, someone who I thought wouldn t crush my heart the way it was shattered. That person was you. You didn t directly hurt me though. This time it was a matter of games I played in my head. At that time, I couldn t admit I has fallen in love with you. I was putting an unnecessary weight on my shoulders. Luckily, that weight didn t kill me. That weight weakened me for sure, but I wasn t dead yet. Theoretically speaking, I could ve openly admitted to loving you and the weight could ve been removed. Instead, I chose to take the more difficult path. That path sent me to sleep every night with a pounding in my head. Every bang was another denial. I couldn t fall in love. I absolutely couldn t fall in love. Trying to persuade myself, I continued to say it over and over again. You betrayed me. Although it was indirect, you still hurt me because I never imagined you for being the cause of the hammering in my head. You broke my heart without intentionally doing. • 43. The United States Army Aviation Operations Although Army Aviation has endured a multitude of challenging moments throughout history, none have compared to those faced in the land that has historically dared and tried many great nations such as the Macedonian Army around 330 B.C. and the Russian Army in the 1970 s and 1980 s. Because of this, this paper will be an informative look at the challenges the United States Army Aviation Operations faced during Operation Enduring freedomin Afghanistan from 2001 to 2014. Included in the research, I will discuss the unforgiving terrain, such as a high mountain environment Aviators operated in, the extreme temperatures, degraded visual cues, the human errors aspect, as well the enemy situation, all which tested them all. Aviation Operations in Operation Enduring Freedom A Sense of Reality To illustrate my point, imagine your mission is to conduct a night air assault (AA) into a rocky mountain top landing zone (HLZ) that is perched high upon the Hindu Kush. In addition to the confinement and high altitude of the HLZ, your aircraft is loaded to its maximum capacity; with a crew of four plus 12 fully loaded combat troops. Furthermore, the moon illumination is steadily decreasing, and by H hour the backdrop has crossed into a dark sea of incomprehensible pictures. At this point, you have just check marked the four death inducing factors of flying in Afghanistan: high, hot, heavy, and dark. • 44. Describe The Main Hypothesis Tested In The Study 1.Describe the main hypothesis tested in the study. The main hypothesis being tested within the study was whether or not the fusiform gyrus was a Region of Interest (ROI) that specialised in the perception of the human face. This main hypothesis was confirmed in Part 1 of testing and was thus expanded in Part II and III, in which they eliminated alternative hypothesis. 2.Explain why this new ROI technique is important for fMRI research. The Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is a functional neuroimaging procedure that used MRI technology to measure our brains activity through blood flow changes and our voxels. In past experiments the researcher would have been required to scan images of the entire brain for each comparison, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Explain one of the alternative accounts of the function of the FFA and how the current study is able to refute (prove wrong) this account. Imaging studies in the past have reported that the region of the fusiform gyrus is more active during face recognition than object viewing, during face matching than location matching and during viewing normal faces other than scrambled faces or textures. This research was a great beginning, but it does not establish that this FFA is specifically involved in face recognition, as there is a range of alternative interpretations of what can activate our brains. These alternative interpretations include low level feature extraction, visual attention that is greater in faces and recognition of basic items and recognition of human objects. To test the first hypothesis the researcher ran an initial test to determine that the Region of Interest was the fusiform gyrus. Following this he then measured the activity in this specific region to subjects using four comparison tasks. Each of these tasks tested the alternative accounts that were previously listed. Part III tested one of these alternative accounts for faces compared with another human object e.g hands. In these tests the data that was collected displayed higher intensity reactions in the ROI when parts of the face were compared to viewing human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. The Misconceptions Of Authoritarianism Authoritarianism is a regime type and, furthermore, a political vision that seeks to create compliance in authority and establish order and peace by striving for absolute legitimacy. In an authoritarian regime, power relations are vertically organized, where there is little to no accountability for those in power and where civil and political rights of citizens, if established, are restrictive and violated. Two common misconceptions of authoritarianismare that they are durable and they have always have a paternal figure as leader. To the first point: though an authoritarian regime would be relatively simple to establish, the difficult task of legitimizing and consolidating absolute authority makes authoritarian rule an incredibly arduous endeavour. Authoritarian regimes can easily be snubbed out as quickly as they began to burn, pointing to how the legitimacy of authority is by far the most essential tool to the authoritarian. But who is the authoritarian? Many see authoritarian regimes as patrimonial, meaning that though there still might be complex institutions of bureaucracy, security, and even political parties, all authority comes from the top and the top alone. However, there can also be authoritarian regimes run by an institution, whether through a military junta or hegemonic political party. Authoritarianism can easily derive from civil society instead of through the military, yet the coercive powers of military are essential for consolidating power. The rise and ... Spanish explorers lived among the Native Americans, and built several missions in the south and west of the US, were they taught Native Americans their culture and language, not always in the friendliest way, as they abused Native Americans physically, and punished them if they didn t obey them. This oppression behavior led to several uprisings against the Spanish, ending with the victory of the Native Americans. In spite of this, Spanish culture had already spread along the south and the west of the US, and still remains on the continent, irrevocably linking the two cultures. But this link is still not strong enough to overcome the time that has elapsed since Spanish and Native Americans shared the same land, and that s why the two cultures still have some differences.
