Augustine And Two Fathers Of The Greek Church
Augustine, and two Fathers of the Greek Church, St. Athanasius and St. Chrysostom ( Interior of the
Basilica. ). Not far away, in the center of the crossed halls of Saint Peter s and over the high altar sits
the Baldachin, a giant bronze and gilt canopy with four twisting pillars. Decorated in olive and laurel
vines with nude children at play and chasing swarms of bees to come to rest underneath the canopy at
a golden dove, symbolizing, peace, victory in peace, purity and unity, and the Holy Spirit, respectively
( Interior of the Basilica. ; DiMassa, 202 03). The bees symbolize a thing that works for the hive, its
only ultimate goal is the continual success of the hive with no recompense to itself (DiMassa, 202 03).

My next offensive argument is that the Catholic Church creates a space of hypocrisy by publicizing
one theme of morality but practicing whatever they like through alteration or blatant ignoring of
religious tradition within the clerical order with the intent on making money instead of upholding
doctrine. This hypocrisy extends to religious vows that were blatantly ignored by the clergy in the
past, and do so now with more secrecy. It is Cannon Law that competent authority of the Church must
take vows of the evangelical counsels of chastity, poverty, obedience, and charity (Catholic
Canonists). Meanwhile, in the past as seen by the previously mentioned criticisms of Pope Alexander
VI s use of great wealth to help seize the papacy and the modern Bishop of Bling shows that both the
vows of poverty and obedience to those vows are explicitly ignored by those who are supposed to
enforce them. As far as chastity goes, Pope Alexander IV had four, possibly more, very public children
with a mistress that he was able to legitimize and use for his own political ventures, as well as two
other mistresses he had while serving as pope, blatantly ignoring the vow of chastity (Murphy). In
more recent days the Catholic Church sex scandal of pedophilic priests and Cardinals shows not only
an air of disobedience and sexual immorality, but that the insubordination of the clergy hasn t stopped
since the more primitive days but has

they acknowledge not only its ecological, cultural, but also economic values. More to the point, this

Alice In Wonderland Analysis
Marriage has not always been about love. All throughout history, women were uprooted from their
normal lives and forced into loveless relationships as ways to provide their family money or power.
This is the starting for Disney s Alice in Wonderland. Alice is a young woman who is proposed by
Hamish, the son of Lord Ascot, per her mother s request. After running away from the proposal, Alice
falls down a rabbit hole into Underland where she meets some peculiar characters. Told that she must
kill the Jabberwocky as it has been foretold, Alice runs from her destiny only to realize that she must
do something to protect her friends and the place she dreamed of so long ago. After killing the
Jabberwocky, Alice returns to her to reject Hamish and start working for his father and travels the
world. Alice is using her dream to solve her marriage problem so her subconscious is using characters
that represents people or her inner conscious in the real world. The similarities between the real
humans and problems in Alice s world and the characters of Underland is closer than one may think.
The iconic White Rabbit represent Alice s mother as both lead them to a new situation that Alice does
not like. Tweedledee and Tweedledum represents the confusion Alice is facing because although she
does not want to get married, she does not want to be a burden to her family so in the dream, the twins
points in different directions and try to match. They fight as if one is trying to silence the

The Pros And Cons Of Roe V. Wade
In 1971 Jane Roe attempted to have an abortion, but was opposed by Henry Wade, the District
Attorney of Dallas who was determined to enforce the Texas law that made abortion, unless medically
necessary, illegal. The conflict only grew in strength and publicity until it landed at the Supreme Court
in the now legendary case of Roe v. Wade. When the legal battle was over, women were granted the
right to abortion in the second trimester, a right that continues to cause conflict 40 years later. The case
ran from 1971 1973 and it got a heated debate started across the United States. The topic of abortion
had always been debated heavily but Roe v. Wade sparked a wave of protests and new opinions. The
argument over abortion prior to Roe v. Wade is similar to what it is today; there are those who support
abortion (pro choice) and those who don t (pro life). Of course each has its exceptions to what is
viewed as acceptable. Many supported abortion because women went to extremely dangerous lengths
to terminate their pregnancies. ¨In 1965, illegal abortions made up one sixth of all pregnancy and
childbirth related deaths¨, (Planned Parenthood; Roe v. Wade). Many religious leaders and figures
were anti abortion because of their beliefs, ¨Doe v. Bolton [410 U.S. 179 (1973)] , the Supreme Court
ruled that the unborn child is not a ¨person¨ at any time before birth...¨ (The Catholic Advance; A Non
Person).
The abortion laws prior to Roe v. Wade in Texas were, for the most part,

The Edible Woman By Margaret Atwood And Mrs. Dalloway Essay
There are several different types of Narration and narrator roles in narratives, with each having a
different effect upon the novel. However, each of these different narrator and narration types have
their own advantages and limitations in regards the narrative. Each role, ranging from first to third
person, has its own unique advantages, including the personal insight into a characters, which can be
found in first person, to the understanding of several different points of view, as seen in third person,
and so on. Each role contrasts the other, exploring the novel, and understanding the characters, in
different ways to produce a different effect within the novel. Some of these contrasting, and differing
elements, can be found in The Edible Woman by Margaret Atwood and Mrs Dalloway, by Virginia
Woolf, where there is shown a clear difference between one narration style and another. These can
range from first person and third person narrator, a shifting and alternating narration, as can be seen in
Atwood s The Edible Woman, to 3rd person omniscient narrator, , and an indirect interior monologue
narration style, as can be seen in Mrs Dalloway by Woolf. Each text provides a different insight and
perspective into a narrative form, from narrator roles to Narration type, that helps bring the story to
life for the audience of the novel, and each has its own limitations and advantages to do with telling
the story.

Analysis Of Seven Staircases Of Growth Strategies
Analysis of Seven Staircases to Growth
The distinctive seven staircases of growth strategies have been adopted by many successful
companies, such as Walt Disney, Gillette, Johnson Johnson, Home Depot, and many more. While one
single strategy may not yield a significant growth effect, implementing them concurrently and
consecutively can provide a powerful roadmap for near term and long term growth (Baghai, Coley,
White, 1996). Below is an analysis of Raytheon s seven staircases to continuous growth.
1. Maximizing existing customers:
Raytheon s primary customers are defense, other government, as well as commercial customers in
both domestic and international markets. The principal U.S. government customer includes the DoD,
U.S. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is how the customer validates the bidders qualifications, and at the same time it s a mean for the
contractors to influence the customer s award decision. In addition, product demonstration, white
papers, and various marketing activities are used as ways to attract new customers.
3. Innovation of products and services
Innovation is an important factor to enhance and differentiate Raytheon s offerings from those of the
competitors. The company s success depends on its ability to develop new and innovative products
and technologies in responding to the customer s critical needs. Brown (1991) pointed out that
Innovation can be a powerful method of securing a sustainable competitive advantage in both growing
and mature markets (p. 196). Although technological innovation is the most recognizable type, it s
worth noting that innovation can come from anywhere and anyone in the organization. For Raytheon,
there s an innovation center at every major Raytheon s sites to encourage new and innovative ideas
from any employees, any functions, or grade levels.
4. Innovation of the value delivery system
Generally, the delivery system for government contracts is regulated by the Federal Acquisition
Regulations (FAR), which sets forth policies, procedures and requirements for the acquisition of goods
and services by the U.S. government. During the bidding process, innovation of the value delivery
system is difficult to achieve as the defense contract

Federal Government Pros And Cons
On the other side of the issue, individuals in favor of the ruling claim that the federal government was
denying the 1st amendment rights of everyone s political speech. An American Spectator article writes
in favor of the court s ruling. Prior to the decision an individual such as George Soros is free to spend
$20 million to promote his favored candidates, but if two or more individuals get together to do the
same thing, neither can contribute more than $5,000 to the effort (Smith). Citizens United was simply
fighting for their constitutional rights to freedom of speech. During the oral arguments of the court,
Deputy Solicitor General Malcolm Stewart was asked by Justice Samuel Alito if the government s
current power over political campaigns would allow them to censor books made by corporations; he
responded with the statement that aligned with the government s position, yes they could. As a
politically active group, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another argument against the reform of campaign finances is the cost of a single election cycle for a
candidate. Even if everyone in America paid $3 in taxes, the fund would not be large enough to fund
more than one candidate. Referring back to the previous arguments against the problem of campaign
finances, the first amendment currently protects political speech, and the idea of public funded
elections might troublesome Constitutionalists. One final argument against public funding is the cost.
Elections are being paid for by people, why would Americans want to tax some of their hard earned
money to support someone they do not support. The money a taxpayer would put towards the public
fund would go to Republicans, Democrats, Green, Libertarians, and all various political party
members if they met the

California s Gas Prices Overpriced
California s Gas Prices Overpriced California since the gold rush has been known as the Golden State
where it s flooded with multicultural richness from the beaches to the mountains. California today is
the most densely populated state with 38.8 million residents and is still rising, however, not only is the
population ever increasing so are gas prices. Allysia Finley an editorial writer from The Wall Street
Journal states, The national average is $2.76 a gallon, while the Golden State drivers pay $3.88. Eco
virtue is expensive (Finley 1). Gas prices in California has left an effect of overpriced due to many
contributing factors: regulation over the environment, overconsumption, and how rational people think
at the margin.

However, mostly these regulations have affect only those small refineries drastically to the point of a
shut down and let only the big and powerful industrial companies take over and collect more profit.
Jennifer L. Brown author of The Market Effects of Going Green states, Additionally, trends in industry
concentrations during the time period reformulated gasoline regulation compliance appear to have
favored large refiners as small refiner market share decreased and industry concentration increased
simultaneously from 1997 to 1999 (Brown 126). Meaning that regulations in California can be visible
from the 90 s and have slowly increased, yet unnoticed to the public until now. While these large
corporations have slowly eliminated its small rivals and maintain more of the power of the market in
gasoline. Which later can have an effect of market failure.
Multiple solutions to California s problem have a rise in order to prevent a long run effect or a market
failure. For instance, Tom Steyer a billionaire environmentalist has proposed an oil extraction tax.
However, adding another tax can lead into two directions. First, if it becomes a corrective tax to
corporations it can correct their actions, and take account of the social cost. Which leads to low prices
for consumers, and at the same time protect the environment because the seller will have the incentive
to reduce low pollution. Or it can create

The Nwmp s Annexation Of Canada
The lands of Canada are vast and spread for thousands of miles touching two seas. The government of
Canada was set in the East in Ontario and could only reach so far. When British Columbia joined
confederation in 1871 it posed an issue to the government of Canada, the West coast was too far away
to easily control. As a solution to this the Canadian government created the Northwest Mounted Police
(NWMP), a group of officers who had jurisdiction on the West coast. The NWMP were successfully
able to stop and prevent the illegal whiskey trade plaguing the West, prevented the annexation of
Canada s western land, and most of all brough law and order to the lawlessness that existed in the
West. These brave men made the West a safer place for settlers. In the early 1870s American traders
came from America into the Northwest of Canada and they were causing troubles for the Canadian
government. While most Canadian traders were under the control of ... Show more content on

One thing the American people wanted was more land. Moving North into Canada would be easy
enough to take. The lack of defense may have been enough for the American government to move
North until the NWMP arrived. Word of the NWMP and their deeds had already made its way to the
ears of Americans and the raw efficiency of the NWMP discouraged any outlaws thinking they could
go North. With troops now holding the fort in the Northwest Americans did not want conflict and felt
that going North would not be their best option. If the Americans did go North they would be met with
resistance from the NWMP and any other soldiers sent by the Canadian government to fight in lands
that the Canadians knew well giving them the advantage. Having police in the Northwest assured both
governments that if there was an attack on Canadian land there would be men there to defend

Mutual Relationships With Mutual Relationship
There is a lot of different opinions when it comes to having a mutual relationship with a male and
female without it being anything more. Many believe that this is not right because they feel as though
that no man and woman could possibly be friends without any feelings involved in the relationship.
This view is often associated with the person who has a significant other that has a close friend that is
of the opposite sex. Others who have friends that are of the opposite sex feel as though nothing is
wrong with it because they are used to it. I feel as though this topic is rooted to the fact that it is only
for the people that are mature, it is important for people on both sides to be mature and have clear
intentions with both the friend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, people argue that a heterosexual male and female couldn t be friends because it often ends
with them starting a relationship even if they were friends with the person while they had a significant
other. I have also seen this happen where a friend of mines was friends with a girl that had a boyfriend
and he also had a girlfriend but now they were so close that their friendship has turned into a
relationship. I feel as though if everyone knows the other persons intention it will be less difficult,
even though sometimes their intentions often change.
Communicating with a person of the opposite sex about how you feel emotionally often helps because
something you would not feel comfortable with just venting to the same sex. Although men seem
strong and nothing ever phases them it is important to have a friend for emotional support. Often men
go through things that hit them emotionally and it is better to have a female to vent to rather than
another male. This is shown when someone loses a family or a tragic situation of that sort, sure your
buddies can give you a word of encouragement but to tell someone how you feel deep down inside it
is helpful to have a female to talk to. Often women are more comfortable to talk to than a guy about
something a male is going through on an emotional level. Emotionally, females feel as though men
create a safer environment because often times it is hard for them to trust their

Insanity In Edvard Munch s The Scream
In his diaries, the artist Edvard Munch admits that he struggled with insanity not only on a personal
level during his life, but also through his family. In fact, his sister was hospitalized for insanity at the
time The Scream was painted in 1893. If given a thorough enough analysis, the personal lives of most
artists are not perfect portraits of happiness. The thing that makes Edvard Munch a different kind of
artist is that he shows us an honest, even ugly, glimpse of his inner troubles and feelings of anxiety
through his painting The Scream, putting more importance on personal meaning than on technical skill
or beauty, a traditional goal of art. According to Munch s personal diaries, the idea for the modern art
painting The Scream came ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then I heard the enormous infinite scream of nature. So what does this quote actually mean? On the
surface, Munch describes a normal evening in Norway, taking a walk at sunset with some friends
beside a fjord. While an evening out walking by the water might sound relaxing and enjoyable at first,
on closer look we see that Munch is really describing a moment of an almost undeniable personal
crisis. In the painting s background, we can see two people walking away in the other direction,
creating the feelings of isolation and fear the artist talks about in his quotation. In the manner of a true
Expressionist painter, Munch uses color to express his emotional reactions to his environment,
commenting on the red sky and the bluish black fjord, described almost as an all consuming black
hole hell where tongues of fire viciously lick at the weary and overwhelmed subject, which is a
genderless figure. While there is certainly something gloomy about Munch s description of The
Scream landscape, the repeated use of the word blood in combination with the twirling, swirling, and
whirling warm tones used to paint the background suggest actual physical

`` Moral Machines `` By Robert J. Sawyer And Gary Marcus
Myths are a good representation of how technology works in a society. This is due to their valuable
lessons which relate the impact of technological history on society over a period of time. Two authors
by the names of Robert J. Sawyer and Gary Marcus elaborate the connection between science fiction
and ethics to technology which compares to Prometheus s myth. Sawyer explains the relationship in
her essay The Purpose of Science Fiction in which he justifies that science fiction can portray the
outcomes of future technology. Marcus justifies this connection in his essay Moral Machines when he
describes how automated machinery should include ethical moralities in reference to how they are
being used in real life scenarios. Sawyer and Marcus reveal the relationship of science fiction and
ethics to technology which relates to the themes of Prometheus through science fiction and ethical
motives. Prometheus was well known for giving the human race the gift of fire. He delivered fire to
the world by stealing it from Zeus due to a conflict between the two. Prometheus was punished for his
wrongdoing in which Zeus chained Prometheus to a boulder so an eagle would come to eat his liver
every day. Prometheus s actions can represent a theme of progress in which he helps humans proceed
around nature s boundaries. Humans encounter obstacles in their lives to achieve a better life and live
comfortably, but the fire is the stepping stone to human success. Prometheus s gift to the world

What Effect Do Earthquakes Have On Coastal Cities
One impact that an earthquake would have is that it would kill people. In the last 500 years several
million people have been killed due to earthquakes. Huge losses to property also happen because of
buildings collapsing. Electric poles, roads, bridges, canals, ect. also get badly damaged. Most of the
time these damages happen because the earthquakes shake the earth or rupture the surface.
Earthquakes can also cause landslides around hilly areas that can destroy property and can take lives.
Earthquakes can even cause fires because of breakage of gas pipes or electric lines while the
earthquake is in motion. Lastly, earthquakes can create tsunamis. Tsunamis are not usually created on

they have a few things in common. The extremes of a herniated disk can result in surgery, which leads
to removing the inflamed nerve or as simple as ice/heat and therapy. A bulging disk isn t really all that

Human Resources Outsourcing
ABSTRACT
In this globalization era, Human Resource Outsourcing (HRO) has come to the surface of business life
as a solution. When Multi national companies decided to outsource its Human Resources Operations,
they had only one major goal in mind and that is cutting costs. They have decided to outsource end to
end human resource operations to third party and today it has become the greatest of exposures. This
interesting solution is the main reason why this paper was being written. This paper will discuss about
the real concept of outsourcing especially human resource outsourcing, advantages and disadvantages

Technically speaking, outsourcing is not just the contract with a third party to perform a service for an
organization, but it also involves transferring a significant amount of management control and
decision making to the external supplier. The process of outsourcing is very much formal like other
business processes and it always includes a considerable degree of two way information exchange,
coordination, and trust. (Martin, 2006)
The concept of outsourcing became popular in the mid 1990s since then the trend of outsourcing has
increased to a great level. The reason for this increase in the popularity of the concept of outsourcing
was the rapid growth in the number of high tech companies in the early 1990s that were often not vast
or large enough to incorporate and run large customer service departments of their own.
There are four steps that generally covered by the process of outsourcing, which are:
1. Strategic thinking, developing the organization s philosophy about the role of outsourcing in its
activities.
2. Evaluation and selection, to decide on the appropriate outsourcing projects and potential locations
for the work to be done and service providers to do it.
3. Contract development, to work out the legal, pricing and service level agreement (SLA) terms
4. Outsourcing management or governance, to refine the ongoing working relationship between the
client and outsourcing service providers. (Shiravastav, 2007) Generally, the

How was India impacted by the global financial crisis?
The subprime crisis that emerged in the US housing mortgage market in 2007 Snow balled into a
global financial crisis, and a global economic recession followed. The Financial landscape has
changed significantly after the collapse of Lehman Brothers in September 2008. An important lesson,
post September 2008, is that irrespective of the degree of globalization of a country and the soundness
of its domestic policies, a financial crisis could spread to every economy.
The direct effect of the global financial crisis on the Indian banking and financial system was almost
negligible, thanks to the limited exposure to riskier assets and derivatives.

A Summary Of Bernard WilliamsUtilitarianism And Integrity
All human beings behave in the same particular way. The two things that we constantly experience in
our lives are pleasure and pain. We are always trying to find pleasure while trying to avoid pain. We
seek pleasure and avoid pain because pleasure produces happiness and pain tends to produce sorrow
and anger. An action would be considered right if that action created happiness and an action would be
wrong if that action promoted the opposite of happiness (sorrow, anger, etc.). When we try to evaluate
the rightness or wrongness of an action we have to contemplate the consequences of other people
involved and not just of our own. Moral actions should result in maximizing happiness because it s the
right thing to do not only for yourself but for others as well. The utilitarianism approach states the we
should always try to produce the greatest amount of happiness for the largest amount of people over
the longest amount of time. Happiness is something that we always struggle to maintain constant in
our lives because we regularly find ourselves in problematic situations. When we are in these
controversial circumstances we may not incessantly do the right thing because we simply don t know
what the right thing to do is. How we deal with certain issues defines whether we acquire happiness or
not. In Bernard Williams Utilitarianism Integrity he provided us with two different scenarios in which
two people find themselves in tricky situations in regard to what the correct action

Grey Oaks Adult Only Pool
Growing up, most summer days consisted of my mother waking up my brother and me early so that
we could be the first to arrive at the swimming pool in order to secure our chairs for the day. However,
most occasions we noticed that other people had the same idea. Once we finally found an ideal spot
for our family to lounge for the day, my brother and I had to face the crowd of children splashing in
the water. Each day the chaotic scene reoccurred. My mom frequently told me that the Grey Oaks
Homes would be building a new pool any day, since a second pool was one of the things my parents
were promised when they moved in. The year my parents built a new home in Grey Oaks, I was four
years old. Now, I am seventeen and have only seen the situation worsen. Each year, dozens of new
homes are built in my neighborhood, yet a singular pool remains. My proposal is that the Rodrock

My Goals Essay
My Goals
There are three careers, which I may be aspired to:
Architects are licensed professionals trained in the art, and science of building design. This means the
overall artistic appreciation, plus the functional look of buildings, or other structures. They design the
overall aesthetic.
Artist generally fall into one of three groups:
Art Directors formulate design concepts, with presentation approaches for visual communications
media.
Fine Artists create original artwork using a variety of media combined with their own techniques.
Multi Media artists, (including Animators) create special effects such as animation, films, video,
computers, or other electronic media.
Service technicians specialize in home ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To become an Architect you will have to obtain a professional degree in Architecture from one of the
111 schools that are accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). A second
alternative option is to acquire one of three degrees in Architecture that are available through colleges,
and universities. `
If at all possible, Multi Media Art, and Animators would be my best interest:
Drawing characters, backgrounds, rims, cars, or trucks spends most of my pastime. In addition to
drawing, I would also like to partake classes in Animation. Art directors earned $56,880 in 2000, and
the highest 10% made more than $109,440 dollars. Artist work about 40 hours a week, but during
busy periods, they work overtime to meet deadlines.
Artists need patience to develop their profession. Spending long hours drawing, painting, and
sculpting, they use all the time there is to finish their projects.
Working in studios is the key to promoting and selling their successful works of art.
However, this can expose some artist to fumes from glue, paint, ink, plus other materials. Artists who
sit at drafting tables or use computers for extended periods may experience back pain, eyestrain, or
fatigue. Some Artists work in fine or commercial art studios located in office buildings (while others
work in private studios at home).
Studio surroundings usually are well lighted, and ventilated. Many Artists are self employed or work

Essay on A Child Soldier s Life
Carolina Quinones
Mr. Paradis
English 10
11 June 2013
A Child Soldier s Life The life of a child soldier is not an easy one; it s full of violence and bloodshed.
Children from most ages get recruited and are forced to do things that they are against, things that are
against their beliefs. But although child soldiers suffer through many mental disorders, they can still
be respectable adults. They go through many things, the recruiting itself, then the violence, after
comes the horrifying rehabilitation and last they are finally reintegrated into society. In A Long Way
Gone, Ishmael suffered from these things, himself explaining that at some point in his life, he just
went numb to everything (Beah 121).
Throughout Africa, rebel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This program takes away their guns and anything that remind them of the war, like the drugs, after
they put the child in a rehabilitation center and try to give them a new cycle, like going to school and
such and last they reintegrate them into society, both socially, economically and emotionally ( Recent
Developments in International Rehabilitation of Child Soldiers ). Different methods are taken to help
these children rehabilitate, but none the less, they are rehabilitated, and helped, taken away from the
war and returned to their childhoods.
After the children are rehabilitated, they are reintegrated into society with the hope that they will
continue their lives violence free. Actual studies have been made to evaluate the process of the
children after they are rehabilitated and thrown back into society. In the study, children who had killed
someone increased levels in hostility, others who survived rape also had high levels of anxiety and
hostility but they had shown greater confidence and prosocial attitudes. At the end of the study, the
improved community acceptance lowered levels of depression and improved confidence and prosocial
attitudes despite the violent past. (Betancourt, Sierra Leone s Former Child Soldiers: A Follow up
Study of Psychological Adjustment and Community Reintegration ). The study showed that despite

Essay On The Difference Between Civil Law And American...
Compared to the rest of the industrialized world, the United States is a fairly young country. As a
result, the U.S. has many institutions that differ from other advanced industrial democracies. One of
the most prominent differences between the U.S. and the rest of the industrialized world resides in our
legal systems. While the most common democratic judicial tradition, especially in social democracies,
is the civil law tradition, the U.S. differs and has a common law legal tradition. Many differences exist
between civil and common law traditions and the United States legal system would have stark changes
if it switched to a civil legal system.
A key difference between civil and common law legal systems is the role of the legal code. In civil
law, the legal code is the supreme source of justice in a society; a handbook on citizen rights,
responsibilities, and the law (Poloni Staudinger and Wolf 2016, p.97). In civil law, the the legal ...

In common law systems, less emphasis is placed on strictly following the words of the legal code, but
rather following the precedent set by previous cases findings. Furthermore, as mentioned earlier,
judges in common law nations have a prestigious connotation attached to their role. They hold a
highly sought after position and earn their black robe through the culmination of their legal career.
With the defendant under the presumption of innocence, these judges and the court act as neutral
actors and let the two opposing sides argue their case in front of a jury. Because of this, the common
law system is referred to as adversarial (Poloni Staudinger and Wolf 2016, p.100). One of the biggest
differences amongst common and civil law systems is the role of judicial review. Unlike in nations
with civil law, common law societies have a tremendous amount of judicial review oversight of
legislative or executive actions by the judiciary (Poloni Staudinger and Wolf 2016,

Transformational Vs Servant Leadership Case Study
Summary of Article
Journal 2
Title: Transformational versus servant leadership: a difference in leader focus
Author: A. Gregory Stone, Robert F. Russell and Kathleen Patterson
The main content in the article is to compare and contrast both similarities and differences of
transformational leadership and servant leadership. Transformational leadership was introduced by
James MacGregor Burns (1987) and Bernard M. Bass (1985a) while servant leadership was developed
by Robert Greenleaf (1997). Both leadership concepts are frequently applied or adopted by the
researches and people who engage in the industry.
In order to increase subordinate performance, leader who apply transformational leadership is engage
in building commitment to organisation objectives and giving authority to his/her followers to achieve
the defined objectives (Yukl, 1998). Transactional leadership is the other extreme of transformational
leadership due to its lesser democratic authority given to followers, concern on task fulfilment and
monitor performance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast, results showed a negative relationship between transactional leadership and job
satisfaction. Research carried out in Journal 2 showed an extensive study on servant leadership by
comparing with others leadership concepts. Results of Farling et al. (1999) discovered that servant
leadership depend on a spiritual base to obtain their sources of values. Study of Horsman (2001)
perceived servant leadership as the prominent leadership model and recognized an association
between servant leadership and the personal features of spirit. Outcomes of both researches conducted
by James Laub (1999) and Rusell (2000, 2001) revealed that further empirical research should be
conducted to prove the validity or accuracy of the relation between personal values and characteristic
of servant leadership

The novel was published in the year 1937. It is a depiction of a woman, whose life itself is an
endeavour to oppose patriarchy. The protagonist show case great characteristic traits of representing
the spirit of change. She breaks the norms that are posed by the male chauvinistic people around her.
As the novel begins it is evident that Janie is suppressed by her own grandmother. This is the first
level of suppression she undergoes. Here, a woman is suppressed by another woman of her own
family, who has a mind that is glutted with the notions of patriarchy. The grandmother in Their Eyes
Were Watching God though understands the sufferings of Janie, believes that it is her duty to get Janie
married to the much older rich man. She believes that only a male support can make her life secured
and happy. Here the grandmother represents the familial violence that is meted out to young women
by people with patriarchal ideologies. According to her, a man is superior to a woman. She believes
that only a man can give life and protection to a woman. The grandmother sticks to the old beliefs
about marriage. This is one of the notorious notions that the patriarchal society hold on to. She fails to
understand that women can live a secured life without even getting married. However, Janie is
suppressed here. Janie is unable to protest against her much beloved grandmother. She becomes Logan

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart ( 1719-1787 )
Joannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart better known as, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
(1756 1791) was born in Salzburg, Austria to Leopold and Anne Marie Mozart. Leopold Mozart (1719
1787) was a violinist, composer and the Vice Kapellmeister to the court of the Archbishop of
Salzburg. His elder sister Marie Anne also nicknamed Nannerl , and are the only two to survive out of
seven children. He and his sister were both child prodigies in music. At the age of three, Mozart would
watch and mimic his elder sister as she played the harpsichord. Mozart s father gives up composing
and eventually becomes a teacher when he recognizes his children s talents, he spent a lot of time with
them on music and othe subject at which they also exceeded in these areas as well. Leopold teaches
Mozart how to play the clavier, organ, and violin. At the age of four, he had already mastered some of
the works his father had him play and by the time he was five, he had already composed a small
andante and an allegro. In 1762, Mozart and his family traveled across Europe on a long tour that took
three years to the courts of Paris, London, Munich, Mannheim, The Hague, and back to Paris, home
and then Zurich, and Donaueschingen were they performed for the imperial court and nobles. In some
of the cities they visited on tour Mozart would play, and sometimes his sister would improvise or play
in courts, public, or church. In Paris, Mozart s first music was published, sonatas for violin and

Life And Death That Polish Literature
Writing thrives as a favorable way of expressing one s ideas and beliefs. Sharing one s thoughts on
paper has always been part of the role of being a writer; it serves a purpose of writing a reflection of
one s personal thoughts and opinions. From the Medieval era to the Renaissance era, Poland is
remarked as a period of change. Poland was expanding as a country and many political events were
occurring. During this span of time, Polish literature signifies various changes in its themes, beliefs
and language all constituted with a purpose. The theme of life and death overpowers Polish literature
written during these two eras. Two pieces that demonstrate an experience of death and how the author
s worldview comes through the text are Jan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The piece that demonstrates a wide scope of his worldview is Laments. Jan Kochanowski expresses
his despair and emotions after the loss of his child in the form of treny. Treny are an older style of
writing that praise the life and accomplishments of those who passed, especially well known figures.
Kochanowski s Laments can be distinguished from the typical treny for the sole reason that the subject
is a child instead of a famous or intellectual individual. However, the main character in Laments is
Kochanowski himself. He plays the role of a grieving father and author who struggles to find the value
and trust in any philosophy, religion and life itself after his daughter s death disrupted his reality. In
the article Why We Write About Grief, Oates explains that Grief is the most humane of emotions but it
is a one sided emotion; it is not reciprocated. This is exactly what makes Laments credible for the
Kochanowski s worldview through death. He experienced it himself as a parent; one cannot simply
understand how it feels to lose a child. It is not a typical telling of a story about death; it is the dark
emotions of a mourning father. Throughout the Laments, Kochanowski intertwines the theme of
searching ways to relieve pain and his bitter reflection on death. Specifically, he expresses a rebellion
against death.

The Benefits Of Legalizing Gambling Essay
People may think of the benefits of legalizing gambling first, but there come clear distinct problems
that could be the result of the legalization. It is without question that there would be instances of
players betting on various games whether it be on games in their league or others, and would give the
leagues another giant problem to monitor of their players. There have already been clear problems
with a variety of players in different sports like John Daly in golf, Michael Jordan, and Charles
Barkley all infamously having gambling problems, which could have been much worse if sports
betting were legal in their time. To make it worse, the leagues show a blind eye to the gambling that is
going on currently, and has gone on for some time, within the teams and organizations and basically
no repercussions being put on the team and players. There have also been situations where people like
Tim Donaghy and Pete Rose and infamous for their gambling habits on games that they were involved
in with Rose being a player, and Donaghy a referee. This brings the largest problem that could be
involved with the possibility of games outcomes being influenced by players or referees connected
with possible situations like Tim Donaghy found himself in during the 2004 NBA season, when he
was put under federal investigation for betting on games. Between that and the Pete Rose ongoing
situation with the MLB, those are considered two of the worst scandals in sports history along with the

Camelot Caper Short Story
The Camelot Caper written by Elizabeth Peters in 2012, is a nonfiction story about a young American
woman who goes to England to meet her grandfather and return an old family heirloom. Jessica soon
realizes that returning the ring would be more dangerous and more of an adventure than she ever
thought, when she is followed by two men who try to steal the ring. While escaping from the two men
that were chasing her, she discovered a new friend and lover in David. David is the next most
important character of this story because he is the hero of the story. He gets beaten up multiple times,
climbs through miles of rocky and swampy terrain, makes elaborate plans for escape, ideas to capture
the pursuers, and he is shot in the shoulder, all because he is in love with Jessica. His mouth curved up
and he gave her a quick hard kiss (Peters, pg 215). As Jessica and David follow and are followed by
the two men, and she finally discovers that one of them is her cousin John and the other is one of his
friends named Frank who is helping with one of John s schemes. John is a smart, young man who used
a fake mustache to deceive Jessica and David, so that they would stay away from her grandfather long
enough until he died, and he takes Jessica and David through many adventures including chasing,
being chased, kidnaping and being shot at. Jessica and David visited various English cities, which
included: Salisbury, London, Stonehenge , and finally Cornwall, where her grandfather lived,

The For Healthy Border 2010 Essay
The Healthy Border 2010 consisted of 11 focus areas with 21 objectives regarding public health
problems that the inhabitants of the US Mexico border were facing. Some of the objectives were met
and some were not. To meet the unmet objectives of health promotion and disease prevention, the
framework of Healthy Border 2020 was constructed. This framework is composed of 5 focus areas,
which are chronic and degenerative diseases; infectious diseases; maternal and child health; substance
abuse and mental health conditions; and injuries. Cancer is the second leading cause of death world
wide and cervical cancer is the third most common cancer (9%) in women as well as seventh (4%)
among all cancer deaths. (Chabra 2016). One of the objectives of Healthy Border 2010 was to reduce
cervical cancer death by 30%in the United States and 20% in Mexico. This objective was not
completely but about to meet in Mexico by the year 2010 however, the cervical cancer death rate in
the United States has not met its target by the deadline. Therefore, the area of cervical cancer is an
important area of concern in the US Mexico border. New objectives for cervical carcinoma has been
set in the Healthy Border 2020 . The new objectives include decreasing the mortality in women of 25
years or older by 20%; maintaining screening for women between 25 to 64 years at 80%; screen for
women at 21 years and older; maintaining the coverage of HPV vaccinations for girls 9 11 years at

The Pros and Cons of Homework Essay
Homework: Does it Help, or Harm Us? When a class is almost over and a teacher starts assigning
homework, every student s heart drops. When students have an excess of homework, they do not do as
well. Even though homework is a good tool to help teachers teach students subjects, teachers should
give less homework because too much homework causes mental health issues in students and less
homework helps improve test scores. The first reason teachers should give students less homework is
that it takes away their childhood. When a student goes to school for seven hours a day, and then goes
home to three hours of homework, they do not get to be a kid. It is suggested that student adopt an
eight eight eight schedule. This schedule being eight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Assigning less homework in schools could reduce teen anxiety and teen depression rates (Kohn). The
next reason too much homework is harmful to students is that studies show more homework to cause
lower test scores. One to two hours of homework a week does not cause a major change in test scores
(Wolchover). There is no evidence of homework having any academic benefit in elementary or middle
school, and the academic benefit found in high school is very weak (Kohn). Homework is not shown
to help students academically until grades ten through twelve (Wolchover). There is also no proof that
homework increases good study habits in students (Kohn). On top of too much homework making
standardized test scores lower, much of this homework is just busy work (Wolchover). Many teachers
ask their student to re write pages in a textbook. This just causes the student to spend time on
something that has no real purpose. Remedial work has no positive effect on students. It just takes up
more time ( Too Much Homework Can Cause Stress, Depression and Lower Grades, Studies Suggest
). Even homework that is useful in some way should be limited. Studies show that a student s time is
more useful when they play an instrument or a sport. Parent s want their student to be good at many
things. It is more important to be a well rounded person than to ace all of your tests (Wolchover). One

  • 2. Augustine And Two Fathers Of The Greek Church Augustine, and two Fathers of the Greek Church, St. Athanasius and St. Chrysostom ( Interior of the Basilica. ). Not far away, in the center of the crossed halls of Saint Peter s and over the high altar sits the Baldachin, a giant bronze and gilt canopy with four twisting pillars. Decorated in olive and laurel vines with nude children at play and chasing swarms of bees to come to rest underneath the canopy at a golden dove, symbolizing, peace, victory in peace, purity and unity, and the Holy Spirit, respectively ( Interior of the Basilica. ; DiMassa, 202 03). The bees symbolize a thing that works for the hive, its only ultimate goal is the continual success of the hive with no recompense to itself (DiMassa, 202 03). The same can be said ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My next offensive argument is that the Catholic Church creates a space of hypocrisy by publicizing one theme of morality but practicing whatever they like through alteration or blatant ignoring of religious tradition within the clerical order with the intent on making money instead of upholding doctrine. This hypocrisy extends to religious vows that were blatantly ignored by the clergy in the past, and do so now with more secrecy. It is Cannon Law that competent authority of the Church must take vows of the evangelical counsels of chastity, poverty, obedience, and charity (Catholic Canonists). Meanwhile, in the past as seen by the previously mentioned criticisms of Pope Alexander VI s use of great wealth to help seize the papacy and the modern Bishop of Bling shows that both the vows of poverty and obedience to those vows are explicitly ignored by those who are supposed to enforce them. As far as chastity goes, Pope Alexander IV had four, possibly more, very public children with a mistress that he was able to legitimize and use for his own political ventures, as well as two other mistresses he had while serving as pope, blatantly ignoring the vow of chastity (Murphy). In more recent days the Catholic Church sex scandal of pedophilic priests and Cardinals shows not only an air of disobedience and sexual immorality, but that the insubordination of the clergy hasn t stopped since the more primitive days but has ... • 4. Alice In Wonderland Analysis Marriage has not always been about love. All throughout history, women were uprooted from their normal lives and forced into loveless relationships as ways to provide their family money or power. This is the starting for Disney s Alice in Wonderland. Alice is a young woman who is proposed by Hamish, the son of Lord Ascot, per her mother s request. After running away from the proposal, Alice falls down a rabbit hole into Underland where she meets some peculiar characters. Told that she must kill the Jabberwocky as it has been foretold, Alice runs from her destiny only to realize that she must do something to protect her friends and the place she dreamed of so long ago. After killing the Jabberwocky, Alice returns to her to reject Hamish and start working for his father and travels the world. Alice is using her dream to solve her marriage problem so her subconscious is using characters that represents people or her inner conscious in the real world. The similarities between the real humans and problems in Alice s world and the characters of Underland is closer than one may think. The iconic White Rabbit represent Alice s mother as both lead them to a new situation that Alice does not like. Tweedledee and Tweedledum represents the confusion Alice is facing because although she does not want to get married, she does not want to be a burden to her family so in the dream, the twins points in different directions and try to match. They fight as if one is trying to silence the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Pros And Cons Of Roe V. Wade In 1971 Jane Roe attempted to have an abortion, but was opposed by Henry Wade, the District Attorney of Dallas who was determined to enforce the Texas law that made abortion, unless medically necessary, illegal. The conflict only grew in strength and publicity until it landed at the Supreme Court in the now legendary case of Roe v. Wade. When the legal battle was over, women were granted the right to abortion in the second trimester, a right that continues to cause conflict 40 years later. The case ran from 1971 1973 and it got a heated debate started across the United States. The topic of abortion had always been debated heavily but Roe v. Wade sparked a wave of protests and new opinions. The argument over abortion prior to Roe v. Wade is similar to what it is today; there are those who support abortion (pro choice) and those who don t (pro life). Of course each has its exceptions to what is viewed as acceptable. Many supported abortion because women went to extremely dangerous lengths to terminate their pregnancies. ¨In 1965, illegal abortions made up one sixth of all pregnancy and childbirth related deaths¨, (Planned Parenthood; Roe v. Wade). Many religious leaders and figures were anti abortion because of their beliefs, ¨Doe v. Bolton [410 U.S. 179 (1973)] , the Supreme Court ruled that the unborn child is not a ¨person¨ at any time before birth...¨ (The Catholic Advance; A Non Person). The abortion laws prior to Roe v. Wade in Texas were, for the most part, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Edible Woman By Margaret Atwood And Mrs. Dalloway Essay There are several different types of Narration and narrator roles in narratives, with each having a different effect upon the novel. However, each of these different narrator and narration types have their own advantages and limitations in regards the narrative. Each role, ranging from first to third person, has its own unique advantages, including the personal insight into a characters, which can be found in first person, to the understanding of several different points of view, as seen in third person, and so on. Each role contrasts the other, exploring the novel, and understanding the characters, in different ways to produce a different effect within the novel. Some of these contrasting, and differing elements, can be found in The Edible Woman by Margaret Atwood and Mrs Dalloway, by Virginia Woolf, where there is shown a clear difference between one narration style and another. These can range from first person and third person narrator, a shifting and alternating narration, as can be seen in Atwood s The Edible Woman, to 3rd person omniscient narrator, , and an indirect interior monologue narration style, as can be seen in Mrs Dalloway by Woolf. Each text provides a different insight and perspective into a narrative form, from narrator roles to Narration type, that helps bring the story to life for the audience of the novel, and each has its own limitations and advantages to do with telling the story. • 7. Analysis Of Seven Staircases Of Growth Strategies Analysis of Seven Staircases to Growth The distinctive seven staircases of growth strategies have been adopted by many successful companies, such as Walt Disney, Gillette, Johnson Johnson, Home Depot, and many more. While one single strategy may not yield a significant growth effect, implementing them concurrently and consecutively can provide a powerful roadmap for near term and long term growth (Baghai, Coley, White, 1996). Below is an analysis of Raytheon s seven staircases to continuous growth. 1. Innovation of products and services Innovation is an important factor to enhance and differentiate Raytheon s offerings from those of the competitors. The company s success depends on its ability to develop new and innovative products and technologies in responding to the customer s critical needs. Brown (1991) pointed out that Innovation can be a powerful method of securing a sustainable competitive advantage in both growing and mature markets (p. 196). Although technological innovation is the most recognizable type, it s worth noting that innovation can come from anywhere and anyone in the organization. For Raytheon, there s an innovation center at every major Raytheon s sites to encourage new and innovative ideas from any employees, any functions, or grade levels. 4. Innovation of the value delivery system Generally, the delivery system for government contracts is regulated by the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), which sets forth policies, procedures and requirements for the acquisition of goods and services by the U.S. government. Federal Government Pros And Cons On the other side of the issue, individuals in favor of the ruling claim that the federal government was denying the 1st amendment rights of everyone s political speech. An American Spectator article writes in favor of the court s ruling. Prior to the decision an individual such as George Soros is free to spend $20 million to promote his favored candidates, but if two or more individuals get together to do the same thing, neither can contribute more than $5,000 to the effort (Smith). Citizens United was simply fighting for their constitutional rights to freedom of speech. During the oral arguments of the court, Deputy Solicitor General Malcolm Stewart was asked by Justice Samuel Alito if the government s current power over political campaigns would allow them to censor books made by corporations; he responded with the statement that aligned with the government s position, yes they could. Even if everyone in America paid $3 in taxes, the fund would not be large enough to fund more than one candidate. Referring back to the previous arguments against the problem of campaign finances, the first amendment currently protects political speech, and the idea of public funded elections might troublesome Constitutionalists. One final argument against public funding is the cost. Elections are being paid for by people, why would Americans want to tax some of their hard earned money to support someone they do not support. California today is the most densely populated state with 38.8 million residents and is still rising, however, not only is the population ever increasing so are gas prices. Allysia Finley an editorial writer from The Wall Street Journal states, The national average is $2.76 a gallon, while the Golden State drivers pay $3.88. Eco virtue is expensive (Finley 1). Meaning that regulations in California can be visible from the 90 s and have slowly increased, yet unnoticed to the public until now. While these large corporations have slowly eliminated its small rivals and maintain more of the power of the market in gasoline. Which later can have an effect of market failure. Multiple solutions to California s problem have a rise in order to prevent a long run effect or a market failure. For instance, Tom Steyer a billionaire environmentalist has proposed an oil extraction tax. However, adding another tax can lead into two directions. First, if it becomes a corrective tax to corporations it can correct their actions, and take account of the social cost. Which leads to low prices for consumers, and at the same time protect the environment because the seller will have the incentive to reduce low pollution. Or it can create ... • 10. The Nwmp s Annexation Of Canada The lands of Canada are vast and spread for thousands of miles touching two seas. The government of Canada was set in the East in Ontario and could only reach so far. When British Columbia joined confederation in 1871 it posed an issue to the government of Canada, the West coast was too far away to easily control. As a solution to this the Canadian government created the Northwest Mounted Police (NWMP), a group of officers who had jurisdiction on the West coast. The NWMP were successfully able to stop and prevent the illegal whiskey trade plaguing the West, prevented the annexation of Canada s western land, and most of all brough law and order to the lawlessness that existed in the West. With troops now holding the fort in the Northwest Americans did not want conflict and felt that going North would not be their best option. If the Americans did go North they would be met with resistance from the NWMP and any other soldiers sent by the Canadian government to fight in lands that the Canadians knew well giving them the advantage. • 11. Mutual Relationships With Mutual Relationship There is a lot of different opinions when it comes to having a mutual relationship with a male and female without it being anything more. Many believe that this is not right because they feel as though that no man and woman could possibly be friends without any feelings involved in the relationship. This view is often associated with the person who has a significant other that has a close friend that is of the opposite sex. Others who have friends that are of the opposite sex feel as though nothing is wrong with it because they are used to it. However, people argue that a heterosexual male and female couldn t be friends because it often ends with them starting a relationship even if they were friends with the person while they had a significant other. I have also seen this happen where a friend of mines was friends with a girl that had a boyfriend and he also had a girlfriend but now they were so close that their friendship has turned into a relationship. I feel as though if everyone knows the other persons intention it will be less difficult, even though sometimes their intentions often change. Communicating with a person of the opposite sex about how you feel emotionally often helps because something you would not feel comfortable with just venting to the same sex. Although men seem strong and nothing ever phases them it is important to have a friend for emotional support. Often men go through things that hit them emotionally and it is better to have a female to vent to rather than another male. This is shown when someone loses a family or a tragic situation of that sort, sure your buddies can give you a word of encouragement but to tell someone how you feel deep down inside it is helpful to have a female to talk to. • 12. Insanity In Edvard Munch s The Scream In his diaries, the artist Edvard Munch admits that he struggled with insanity not only on a personal level during his life, but also through his family. In fact, his sister was hospitalized for insanity at the time The Scream was painted in 1893. If given a thorough enough analysis, the personal lives of most artists are not perfect portraits of happiness. The thing that makes Edvard Munch a different kind of artist is that he shows us an honest, even ugly, glimpse of his inner troubles and feelings of anxiety through his painting The Scream, putting more importance on personal meaning than on technical skill or beauty, a traditional goal of art. So what does this quote actually mean? On the surface, Munch describes a normal evening in Norway, taking a walk at sunset with some friends beside a fjord. While an evening out walking by the water might sound relaxing and enjoyable at first, on closer look we see that Munch is really describing a moment of an almost undeniable personal crisis. In the painting s background, we can see two people walking away in the other direction, creating the feelings of isolation and fear the artist talks about in his quotation. In the manner of a true Expressionist painter, Munch uses color to express his emotional reactions to his environment, commenting on the red sky and the bluish black fjord, described almost as an all consuming black hole hell where tongues of fire viciously lick at the weary and overwhelmed subject, which is a genderless figure. While there is certainly something gloomy about Munch s description of The Scream landscape, the repeated use of the word blood in combination with the twirling, swirling, and whirling warm tones used to paint the background suggest actual physical ... • 13. `` Moral Machines `` By Robert J. Sawyer And Gary Marcus Myths are a good representation of how technology works in a society. This is due to their valuable lessons which relate the impact of technological history on society over a period of time. Two authors by the names of Robert J. Sawyer and Gary Marcus elaborate the connection between science fiction and ethics to technology which compares to Prometheus s myth. Sawyer explains the relationship in her essay The Purpose of Science Fiction in which he justifies that science fiction can portray the outcomes of future technology. Marcus justifies this connection in his essay Moral Machines when he describes how automated machinery should include ethical moralities in reference to how they are being used in real life scenarios. Sawyer and Marcus reveal the relationship of science fiction and ethics to technology which relates to the themes of Prometheus through science fiction and ethical motives. Prometheus was well known for giving the human race the gift of fire. He delivered fire to the world by stealing it from Zeus due to a conflict between the two. Prometheus was punished for his wrongdoing in which Zeus chained Prometheus to a boulder so an eagle would come to eat his liver every day. In the last 500 years several million people have been killed due to earthquakes. Huge losses to property also happen because of buildings collapsing. Electric poles, roads, bridges, canals, ect. also get badly damaged. Most of the time these damages happen because the earthquakes shake the earth or rupture the surface. Technically speaking, outsourcing is not just the contract with a third party to perform a service for an organization, but it also involves transferring a significant amount of management control and decision making to the external supplier. The process of outsourcing is very much formal like other business processes and it always includes a considerable degree of two way information exchange, coordination, and trust. (Martin, 2006) The concept of outsourcing became popular in the mid 1990s since then the trend of outsourcing has increased to a great level. The reason for this increase in the popularity of the concept of outsourcing was the rapid growth in the number of high tech companies in the early 1990s that were often not vast or large enough to incorporate and run large customer service departments of their own. There are four steps that generally covered by the process of outsourcing, which are: 1. • 19. A Summary Of Bernard WilliamsUtilitarianism And Integrity All human beings behave in the same particular way. The two things that we constantly experience in our lives are pleasure and pain. We are always trying to find pleasure while trying to avoid pain. We seek pleasure and avoid pain because pleasure produces happiness and pain tends to produce sorrow and anger. An action would be considered right if that action created happiness and an action would be wrong if that action promoted the opposite of happiness (sorrow, anger, etc.). When we try to evaluate the rightness or wrongness of an action we have to contemplate the consequences of other people involved and not just of our own. Moral actions should result in maximizing happiness because it s the right thing to do not only for yourself but for others as well. The utilitarianism approach states the we should always try to produce the greatest amount of happiness for the largest amount of people over the longest amount of time. Happiness is something that we always struggle to maintain constant in our lives because we regularly find ourselves in problematic situations. When we are in these controversial circumstances we may not incessantly do the right thing because we simply don t know what the right thing to do is. How we deal with certain issues defines whether we acquire happiness or not. In Bernard Williams Utilitarianism Integrity he provided us with two different scenarios in which two people find themselves in tricky situations in regard to what the correct action ... • 24. Essay On The Difference Between Civil Law And American... Compared to the rest of the industrialized world, the United States is a fairly young country. As a result, the U.S. has many institutions that differ from other advanced industrial democracies. One of the most prominent differences between the U.S. and the rest of the industrialized world resides in our legal systems. While the most common democratic judicial tradition, especially in social democracies, is the civil law tradition, the U.S. differs and has a common law legal tradition. Many differences exist between civil and common law traditions and the United States legal system would have stark changes if it switched to a civil legal system. A key difference between civil and common law legal systems is the role of the legal code. With the defendant under the presumption of innocence, these judges and the court act as neutral actors and let the two opposing sides argue their case in front of a jury. Because of this, the common law system is referred to as adversarial (Poloni Staudinger and Wolf 2016, p.100). It is without question that there would be instances of players betting on various games whether it be on games in their league or others, and would give the leagues another giant problem to monitor of their players. There have already been clear problems with a variety of players in different sports like John Daly in golf, Michael Jordan, and Charles Barkley all infamously having gambling problems, which could have been much worse if sports betting were legal in their time.
