Why The Price Of Crude Oil
This essay will explain why the price of crude oil has fallen so dramatically. Also, it will analyse the
impact the fall in the price will have on major oil producing nations. Moreover, it will explore the
effect that the fall in price will have on major oil companies and their supply companies. Finally, it
will present how the fall in oil price might affect consumers in the European Union. Crude oil is the
one of the most important natural resource of the industrialised nations, which could generate heat,
drive machinery and fuel vehicles and airplanes (years, someone). Moreover, the crude oil
components are used to manufacture almost all chemical products, such as plastic, detergents, paints
and medicines (years, someone). Also, it plays a significant role in expanding technical ability to
discover new sources and extending the production lives of existing oil fields. Therefore, constant
changes in the price of the crude oil have an impact on a global economy (years, someone). According
to Bolton (2014), the oil price reaches the highest price of almost $150 a barrel in July 2008 and felt in
the second half of 2008 as the global financial crisis started. There are a many reasons why the price
were so high until the first half of 2008. Since 2002, the high demand for fuels in rapidly developing
countries, such as China and India increased. In addition, there was frequent disruptions to supply
crude oil to the global markets, such as political and security situation in

A Speech On The S Car Essay
Today s your day, Ez. Get in the fuckin car. Abe shouted from the driver s seat, even though I was
already making my way over to the car. I walked towards the passenger doors before he corrected me.
Not in the back. I saved shotgun for ya. It was only a couple months since I became an official a part
of the gang, and I already got to sit up front with Abe. I got in the small electric car and thought about
the precious seat. Solo said he worked to impress Abe for five hundred forty seven days (or a year and
a half) before he got shotgun, but now he was back sitting behind him. His blond curls were squished
against the door to make room for Sus s gigantic arms. Took you long enough, kid. Cob greeted me as
I closed the door. He called me kid , even though I was two years older. He was old enough to still be
in high school, if he could afford that shit. Abe turned the key as the door slammed. The recorded
rumble of a muscle car hummed from the speaker on the grill, which signaled the car was on. We
drove from my apartment on the north bank of the river, across the bridge into South Side. You re
gonna love this place, Ez, said Abe pointing to the overgrown skeleton of steel in front of us. We
drove into the discarded shamble of concrete until the chaos gave way to weeds a few miles down.
Without slowing down, Abe swerved into an abandoned construction site and skidded to a stop. We
got out of the car and walked through the columns of rust, broken slabs of concrete,

Analysis Of Mcgraw Hill Practice Operations Simulation
Critical Reflection Essay on McGraw Hill Practice Operations Simulation Learning experience from
the Practice Modules McGraw Hill Education has designed a series of learning games specifically
targeting students to improve their experience in a virtual like work scenario. One of them namely
Practice Operations would be discussed in this essay. Practice is a sequences of games which are
planned to incorporate immersive learning encounters and rich evaluation capacities. In this practice
operations simulation, there are 6 modules. To begin with, first module namely The Production
Process, I have learned how to prioritise decisions based on the client requirements. I aced how to
organize the production tasks as per the client s necessities, how to manufacture and ship products
based on the deadline and also by maintaining the maximum production percentage in the production
process. The Second module which is called managing suppliers includes ordering for raw materials
like for instance cotton, denim and silk. It helped me understand how to optimize our order based on
the factors like quality and lead time. The third module is known as forecasting and contracts, which
showed the significance of the understanding the idea of forecasting the demand of the up coming
seasons. This module entirely was based on the procurement process. In this module, you will decide
on which contracts to pursue, and enhance their receiving, production, and shipment departments

Alcohol Compared to Calories and Carbohydrates
Alcohol Compared to Calories and Carbohydrates
It has been question on whether alcohol contains high amounts of calories and carbohydrates. Is there
a correlation between alcohol, calories and carbohydrates? Does in increase in the amount of alcohol
cause an increase in calories and carbohydrates?
Numerous brands of beer with different alcohol ratings (appendix 1) were looked at (N=58), to decide
if alcohol (x̄ =4.765, S = 0.507461) has any effect to the amount of calories (x̄ =141.3275862, S =

Eyes Are The Biggest Betrayers
Eyes are the biggest betrayers. Some say eyes are windows to the soul. Who knows if they are... or if
there is a soul... But betrayers, yes, the eyes are... if you are not careful, they let your secrets out...
especially your desires. You know, hunger shines in the eyes before it can be seen in any other way.
Even if for a second before you hide it. Take care to wipe it out of your eyes before someone sees it.
Or they will think less of you. You are not a poor little famished girl, are you? Where are your
manners? Grandma s words echoed in Riya s ears while she was looking at Preeti.
Yes, there was a definite flicker of unguarded hunger before Preeti lowered her eyes and pretended
otherwise. How did she know to do that? Did her grandmother also tell her the same thing? How to
hide one s desires and hunger? Did these kids also get lessons in manners the same way?
Riya normally was a very well mannered girl, also because she was given ... Show more content on

Rain drops were making excited loud noise while they touched soft, muddy, partially covered with
grass ground. Riya s heart was thumping with the beat of that noise.
There she saw her. Preeti was playing with a bunch of children in the rain. They were running and
jumping all over the place. They almost seemed to dance with the music rain was making, all soaked
and drenched. Preeti didn t look like a girl who found talking a task. She was giggling and making
faces. A boy pulled her plait and she ran after him. Both of them slipped in a puddle they hadn t
anticipated. They laughed louder lying all smeared in wet mud while their friends joined them in the
laughter.
Riya couldn t help laughing either. She wouldn t know whether Preeti could hear her from that far in
the rain but that s when Preeti saw her.
It was just a fraction of a second!
And Riya quickly turned her back to the balcony and ran inside. She could tell Preeti had seen
something in her eyes. And Riya was horrified.

The Theories Presented By Tolstoy And Bell
To categorize art by such vague criteria as expression and form would be difficult if it were not for the
several prevailing theories presented by Tolstoy and Bell. According to Tolstoy s theory of expression,
something is art only if it successfully does the following. First, it must have been created with the
intention of being art and revealed to an audience through a publicly accessible medium, even if the
audience is a single individual. These mediums must be physical things such as shapes, actions, or
words in order to be available to its viewers. Second, the medium of art must be an individualized
work that has not been replicated or mass produced. Third, he believes that the art must convey the
feeling or emotion that the artist experienced while producing the art. This emotion must also be
evoked within the audience. Lastly, the work must require self mediation or clarification in order to be
interpreted by said audience as art. As a result, a work is not required to be about something in order
to be art.
On the other hand, Bell offered the theory of formalism in order to determine if a work was art or not.
According to Bell, a work is art if it is an artifact that possesses significant form without referencing
what it represents. In this context, the significant form is the artistic value of the work that the author
intended for the audience to recognize. Additionally, the work does not have to be created solely with
the purpose of possessing significant form.

Persuasive Essay About My Best Friends
Making never thought to be friends. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would ever be friends
with Julie. I have never seen her in 2 years and suddenly we re best friends. Goes when we never saw
each other, she ran away, the carnival, and the movies. First, when I first started going to my
grandmother s when I was 9. My aunt Jessica still was friends with my grandmother albeit she is her
daughter. So I would come over to their house. I never talked to Julie so I didn t know much about her.
I would usually play with Jacob or Jami. One day when Jessica s husband, Josh left, Jami at the park
by herself, and someone calls Child Protective Services on them and we don t know who, but they
said that my grandmother called. Now I know for a fact that she didn t and whoever said she did is
lying. Jessica was enraged by this and never talked to my grandmother once. So I never was allowed
to see that part of the family often. When Julie was younger, she believed in that grandmother was in
the wrong. (Complex)
Second, once Julie turned 18 she escaped out of the house with barely anything of hers. She was not
treated well in that house. After 2 years, she found love for my grandmother. (Complex) She went to
my grandmother s to have a place to stay, she had her a boyfriend Kyle is staying with her. She is
staying there for how long, I don t know. When I went there for the summertime like I conventionally
do. I said hi to her, so casually we became friends. She brought me to drive to the movies with her
boyfriend and his acquaintances. It was an ok movie but it wasn t that terrific. Third, we are fairly
proximate friends now she by chance will bring me places with her. Where we customarily drive was
Jewel Osco, which is like 10 minutes away from my grandmother s. She usually goes there like every
other day, but not when the car has no gas. (Compound) She brought me to the fair in Peoria. It was
frolicsome only on the first day, for marginally of the time. (Compound) The last time I went there It
was just us so it was fun. She bought tickets for her and me, she didn t buy and other tickets, we
kenned we weren t going to be there for long so It didn t in reality establish sense to waste Mazuma.

The s Resistance Army By Joseph Kony
Some of the basic human rights we see as children of the United States are not guaranteed
everywhere. One example of this would be the oppressing of children in Uganda. As more and more
children were enslaved by the Lord s Resistance Army, led by Joseph Kony, the Invisible Children
was founded to raise awareness through their campaign of Kony 2012. After eight years of
campaigning against the Lord s Resistance Army, the Invisible Children posted a video titled Kony
2012. It began as an experiment, but with over 100 million views in only six days, the infamous
Joseph Kony went from an obscure villain to world known criminal. The campaign reached its goal in
April of 2012, when President Barack Obama announced that he would reignite the United State s
mission to help the African Union in stopping LRA violence. Who is the Lord s Resistance Army? The
LRA is a rebel Christian cult that has terrorized Uganda for nearly thirty years. In 1986, the LRA
began as an evolution of the Holy Spirit Movement. Led by Alice Lakwena, the Holy Spirit
Movement was a rebellion against the oppression of North Uganda by their president, Yoweri
Museveni.(invisible children, 2014) Claiming that she was possessed by the spirit of a long dead
Italian soldier, Lakwena was seen unfit to remain the leader of the Holy Spirit Movement. When she
was exiled in 1987, Joseph Kony, her supposed cousin, took over the group, renaming it the Lord s
Resistance Army. With hopes of bringing down the Ugandan

African American Child Segregation Essay
Segregation and discrimination have brought traumatic distress to the black community as it is still
evident in today s society.Though it is illegal to segregate others because of their racial background or
religion, the terror of this act is just the same as it was when it was legal. Upon discovery about their
ancestor s past, African American children unconsciously strip any positive perspective they have of
themselves which eventually passes on to others around them.
A study done by Psychologists Kenneth and Mamie Clark in the 1940 s was done in order to test the
effects segregation has on African American children. A set of 4 almost identical dolls, different in
color, were placed before a group of 3 7 year old children. The question
which doll do you prefer and why? was asked which most children chose the white doll. Additional to
their responses, the children would associate positive comments ... Show more content on

Machiavelli s Principalities
Through this IO, my understanding on Machiavelli s principalities had improved tremendously as the
class discussed about his principles of fear and fortune, and connected them to real world examples.
Initially, I came into the discussion with an understanding as to why it is better to be feared than to be
loved if a prince cannot be both, however, I had a difficult time connecting it to the real world.
Through the class discussion, I was able to realize that this principle is used in families, where the
parents are the Prince and the children are The People. I knew that when the people is fearful of their
Prince, they will not rebel against him because they would be too afraid of the consequences.
Similarly to parents, by being both loved

Battle Of Kadesh Essay
First and foremost, the primary sources inform us on the different players involved in the ongoing
conflict between Egypt and the Hittites, showing both empires with great armies, but more
importantly, comprehensive awareness of the Hittite army of this time period is deeply indebted to
Egyptian reliefs. Kadesh was a city located in Syria and was the site of the famous battle between
Egypt s King Rameses II and the Hittite Empire s King Muwatalli II. This battle, known as the Battle
of Kadesh, is thoroughly documented in primary sources like Rameses II s texts, letters, Seti I s
reliefs, and Rameses II s reliefs at Ramesseum and Luxor.
Rameses II was very vocal about the Battle of Kadesh. He depicted a great Egyptian victory at Kadesh
and for many years, this depiction was believed to be true. Today, however, scholars of the battle have
varied views regarding Rameses II s account of the battle and believe the battle itself was likely a
draw, at best. Rameses II aimed to yield permanent measures against the Hittites and push them far
away from Egypt s borders. A fundamental goal of Rameses campaign was to seize Kadesh, which
was the central hub for trade at the time, and was controlled by the Hittites. ... Show more content on

The Egyptian army was not the only to use chariots in battle. In fact, an incredibly influential power of
the Hittite army was their extremely large chariot force. There are reliefs of the Hittite chariots
heading into battle. In one of the reliefs, three soldiers are depicted, one of which is wielding a very
large lance. All three soldiers are shown with helmets and what looks to be armor. Iron weapons also
gave the Hittites a great advantage over the bronze weapons of Egypt. Though the Hittites had an

Chamomile is derived from the two Greek words kamai melon meaning ground apple because of its
apple like aroma and because this herb grows near the ground. Studies show that drinking German

You are BBBY s CEO, Steven Temares. It is April 2004 and you are about to decide what to do with
the company s excess cash:
Keep it?
Pay it out and issue debt?
You structure your analysis by answering the following questions:
1. What is wrong with building up cash? Provide (at least two) reasons in favor and against keeping
cash in the firm.
Against:
By paying out excess cash and issuing debt, BBBY could improve return to equity holders and raise
earnings per share (by a share repurchase).
Leverage can increase a firm s expected earnings per share. An argument is that by doing so, leverage
should also increase the firm s stock price. Because BBBY ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Evaluate the decision from the perspective of BBBY s shareholders: does the proposed repurchase
program increase shareholder s value? Provide some calculations to illustrate your answer.
The repurchase program increases the shareholder s value. This is because of a rise in the price of the
shares of the original shareholders.
●Scenario with a debt to capital ratio of 40%
Increase in share price =(11228584.26/296854) 37 = 0.825275253
Total increase in value = 0.825275253*296854 = 244986.26
●Scenario with a debt to capital ratio of 90%
Increase in share price =(11534817.13/296854) 37 = 1.856869471
Total increase in value = 1.856869471*296854 = 551219.13

(Impact of cloud computing in supply chain, 2015) The difference between distributed computing with
individualized computing is that the cloud technology gives an extensive variety of capacities. The
usage of cloud built solutions depends on different elements, for example, the division in which the
business works; the practicality of porting existing parts on cloud, size of the organization, and the
area of customers and so on. It helps in reducing the time required as well as minimize the fixed cost
of the company. Therefore, it is not logistic to make a single explanation of implementation of cloud
computing technology. For example, a newly started company can adopt the cloud based solution
easily but it is difficult for existing firms to shift their supply chain to cloud technology. Let consider a

For want of a nail the kingdom was lost C that s how the catechism goes when you boil it down. In
the end, you can boil everything down to something similar C or so Roberta Anderson thought
much later on. It s either all an accident ... or all fate. Anderson literally stumbled over her destiny in
the small town of Haven, Maine, on June 21st, 1988. That stumble was the root of the matter; all the
rest was nothing but history.
2
Anderson was out that afternoon with Peter, an aging beagle who was now blind in one eye. Peter had
been given to her by Jim Gardener in 1976. Anderson had left college the year before with her degree
only two months away to move onto her uncle s place in Haven. She hadn t realized how lonely she d
been until Gard brought the dog. He d been a pup then, and Anderson sometimes found it difficult to
believe he was now old C eighty four in dog s years. It was a way of measuring her own age. 1976
had receded. Yes indeed. When you were twenty five, you could still indulge in the luxury of believing
that, in your case, at least, growing up was a clerical error which would eventually be rectified. When
you woke up one day and discovered your dog was eighty four and you yourself were thirty seven,
that was a view that had to be re examined. Yes indeed.
Anderson was looking for a place to cut some wood. She d a cord and a half laid by, but wanted at
least another three to take her through the winter. She had cut a lot since those early days when

Analysis Of Blood On The Forge By William Attaway
A Change of Culture Culture has the power of informing you of someone s identity. It is said that
culture is the way of life a group of people follow, meaning their behaviors, beliefs, values, and
symbols that identify them as where they came from, who they are, and who they can become. On the
other hand, we know that culture is always changing and adapting to the lifestyle and advances of the
present day. This can happen by the adaptation groups of people have suffered in order to achieve a
better way of living other than the one they ve previously had. Examples of these changes can be seen
with the Great Migration in the 1900s. A movement in which many African Americans moved to the
North to work and settle in the steel mills in search of a better life. In Blood on the Forge by William
Attaway, we are able to in fact prove that culture can change and adaptation plays a key role in our
existence. The book portrays this change through the life and experiences of the Moss brothers and
their lifestyle from Kentucky to Pennsylvania. With that of culture comes our identity through music.
The death of the blues serves as an example in how culture is put up to the challenge of change.
Melody, Chinatown, and Big Mat represent the loss of folk culture which accompanied the Great
Migration of Black people from the rural South to the industrial North (Waldron 58). As we begin to
read, we are able to interpret their lives and identity in the South through Melody s music. This

Storytelling
The concept of digression is explored and mastered by Shahrazad throughout the sets of stories that
comprise The Arabian Nights. Unlike the stories of Jaques and his Master, in Jaques the Fatalist,
where digression plays well in a journey without a specific purpose, the stories of Shahrazad and her
use of digression has a clear objective. The main character of The Arabian Nights, Shahrazad, makes
use of her abilities as an effective storyteller to keep her audience engaged with a perfect sense of

In a traditional point of view, humans are above animals, but the ability of the merchant to understand
the animals defies the traditional hierarchy. This decentralization of the relationship between a human
and an animal is significant in the fact that the words of a rooster end up influencing the actions of a
person (the merchant). The rooster represents the traditional patriarchal concept of male superiority
over female since he discusses a stern piece of advice with a dog, after he jumped on a hen and,
finishing with her, jumped down and jumped on another (Haddawy, 19), displaying a behavior of
control and disrespect over the opposite sex. The rooster indirectly advises the merchant, through his
conversation with the dog, to fall on her (referring to the merchant´s wife) (19) and beat her with an
oak branch until she has no desire to question her husband´s actions. The merchant heeds the words of
the rooster, and reestablishes the hierarchy of male over female dominance by using impulsive and
violent animal like brutality. Yet, the hierarchy of human reason dominance over animalistic behavior
was diminished after the merchant followed the advice of his cock. The Tale of the Merchant and the
Demon also explores changes of hierarchies related to the crossing of human animal border. In the
First Old Man´s Tale, the infertile wife of the old man, driven by her jealousy, causes the death of the
old man´s mistress, and

Contextual Interpretation Of Religion In Shakespeare s Hamlet
Contextual Interpretations Of Religion
In Shakespeare s Hamlet At the time of Shakespeare s writing The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of
Denmark (hereby referred to as Hamlet), the two most commonly practiced denominations of
Christianity in Europe were Catholicism and Protestantism. Within the play itself, Shakespeare
references the traditions and ideas of both religions freely, creating cause for debate among modern
scholars as to what part, if any, religious context plays in Hamlet. The influence of both religions is
evident; however, as Shakespeare mixes the two, difficulties arise in finding a clear interpretation of
the opposing religious contexts. The idea of Catholicism as the foremost religion in Shakespeare s
Hamlet arises as a direct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this time period, Denmark was considered a Protestant (and more specifically, Lutheran)
nation. It has never been made clear whether or not Shakespeare intended to mirror the true to life
Denmark in his work, but the references can be easily inferred. One of the most important pieces of
evidence related to Protestantism in Hamlet is in reference to the University of Wittenberg, which
Hamlet, Horatio, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern attend during the course of the work. Wittenberg, the
city in which their university is located, is widely known as the birthplace of Protestantism and was
made famous in part by Martin Luther s Protestant Reformation and the nailing of the 95 Theses to the
door of the All Saints Church. The university itself also has significant ties to Protestantism; Martin
Luther himself was a professor at the University of Wittenberg and it was during his tenure as
Wittenberg s Doctor of Bible that Luther conceived of his famous 95 Theses. In addition, the
University of Wittenberg served as a center of the Protestant Reformation movement in Europe.
Therefore, it can be inferred that during their time at the university, Hamlet and his acquaintances
would likely have been very heavily exposed to and quite possibly even expected to serve the

The types of biscuits as snacks grow fast both in taste, packaging and form. Biscuit snacks have wide
market with market targets including children, boys and girls. The competition, therefore is tight

Rio Sonora Valley Incident Analysis
In August 2014, while I was on holidays in a remote region of Mexico called The Rio Sonora Valley, I
witnessed the most outrageous natural disaster I have ever seen. It was caused by the spilling of more
than 40,000m3 of copper sulphate in the river, which savagely polluted it and affected thousands of
people, cattle and fish among others. This particular incident triggered my research about water
pollution, with a special focus on copper, and led me to the discovery of chitosan as a possible
cleanser of river waters.
Copper commonly occurs as a pollutant in surface fresh waters and it can be extremely toxic to fish ,
and so its removal is often necessary . There are several methods that exist in the actuality, such as

The Woman Who Walked Into Doors
Paula s voice, in which the entire novel is related, combines convincing staccato storytelling, slangy
working class diction, frank revelations, and agonized reconstruction of the past in sometimes profane
and often touching tones. Here Paula remembers her teenaged self, both attracted and repelled by the
man she will so disastrously marry: He was a ride. It was the best way to describe him, from the first
time I heard of him to the last time I saw him. He wasn t,t gorgeous. There was never anything

Paula is the woman who walked into doors [1] because she explains her cuts, bruises, and broken
bones by her clumsiness walking into doors, falling down stairs rather than their real causes, her
husband s violent physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. This euphemism shows the contradiction of
subaltern speech: it can suggest and imply but it cannot truly speak in a language that society is
willing or able to decode. In fact, the entire novel rests on the inherent contradiction of subaltern
speech because Paula, a subaltern figure, narrates the entire book. The book shows Paula as she
struggles to know and speak [herself], to borrow a phrase from Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak s Can the
Subaltern Speak? [2] In Spivak s problematic, the there is no unrepresentable subaltern subject that

final nor absolute. Spivak s writings on fictional representations of subalterns, such as her preface to

Fundamental Analysis of Pharmaceutical Stocks
Fundamental Analysis
Fundamental analysis is a technique that attempts to determine a security s value by focusing on
underlying factors that affect a company s actual business and its future prospects. On a broader scope,
you can perform fundamental analysis on industries or the economy as a whole. The term simply
refers to the analysis of the economic well being of a financial entity as opposed to only its price
movements.
Fundamental analysis serves to answer questions, such as:
Is the company s revenue growing? * Is it actually making a profit? * Is it in a strong enough position

Socrates Unexamined Life
Socrates theory of the unexamined life would argue that that a life spent without self examination was
a life that was wasted. Socrates believed that a person should question their motives and what they
valued in life. He believed a life spent pursuing material gain or power was a life that was not a life
well spent. Instead Socrates believed that a person should constantly be looking inward. They should
question their motives and better themselves by correcting any motives or actions that are not pure. To
Socrates the noblest pursuit in life was the quest for knowledge. He wanted people to question what
they knew and search for answers for that which they did not know. While I agree with most of
Socrates ideas on the unexamined life I do not agree that an unexamined life is wasted. I agree with
Socrates that we should constantly be looking to better ourselves by ... Show more content on

There are several reasons for my position on this. First, it is very possible for a person to live an
unselfish life without self examination. For example we have no idea if Florence Nightingale spent
time examining her own life. Yet, even if she spent no time on self examination I believe she still
would have been a great person. I believe some people are motivated by a desire to help others that
does not require them to examine their own lives to motivate them to do good. While conversely it is
possible for an evil person to understand what their motivations and desires are, while doing nothing
at all to better themselves. If self examination does anything it maximizes a person s potential. An
unexamined life can be considered a full life that accomplished many great things, but it is likely that
if the person had spent time examining their life they could have accomplished even more. I think it
would be better to say that an unexamined life is one that did not reach its full

Hello Year 8, my name is Nikki Caro and today I am going to talk to you about the film Whale Rider. I
directed Whale Rider in 2002. I did not write the plot by I was adapting he book Whale Rider written
by Witi Ihimaera. When I was directing the film I wanted to keep the traditional Maori culture as a
main feature of the film and also represent the changes to the culture through generational differences.
Today I will be talking to you about how I used filmic techniques to represent the strong sense of
Maori culture and to show the generational differences between the Maori elders and the modern
world. I will show the use of filmic techniques through two short film extracts from Whale Rider

world of women s leadership. This is the first time we can see the changing cultural traditions in this
clip.
When the children are performing, we can see how they have less respect for the culture by mucking
up and not concentrating. I showed this disrespect by doing a full length shot on all the kids and then
zooming in on Pai s face showing her in shock. I also added in a scene showing the community
laughing. This scene shows how the whole community isn t committed to their culture. Pai is the only
child who doesn t find this disrespect funny. This scene shows how Pai is fully committed to her
culture and the generational differences between the elders and the new generation. The new
generation in the film do care about their culture which is the complete opposite to the elder
generations who show full respect to their ancestors.
When Pai s father, Porourangi arrives, the mise en scene of their surroundings is important because it
connects them with their culture. Their surroundings include carvings and cultures of their ancestors
and their Gods .

Where is Here? a science fiction story written by Joyce Carol Oates. It a story about a man who goes

the house there was another family living there.
The story takes place in a neighborhood that is very quiet and no incidents in the past years. It is

this eerie feeling through out the entire story. While stranger is outside looking around the house while
being watched by the mother and father. The parents bicker whether to let him in or not, then decide to
let him in, he says he is okay but the mother insists that he come in. The stranger is in the house
looking around with the company of the parents. This visitor is polite, but steps over boundaries and
starts asking about personal details that show into the family s lives. He also talks about his past in the
house. With every question, the stranger asked the tension of the story increases. The mother and

The Nine Noble Virtues Of Grendel Vs. Beowulf
Working Title Grendel and Beowulf are being compared to the nine noble virtues. The nine noble
virtues explains what a hero should be and what characteristics make them noble. The characteristics
are what you expect from a hero. Courage, Truth, Honor, Fidelity, Discipline, Hospitality, Self
Reliance, and Perseverance are the Nine Noble Virtues. According to the Vikings, these traits are what
make a hero noble. Grendel and Beowulf have some of these virtues. Grendel and Beowulf are similar
in some ways through the virtues. Beowulf portrays the Nine Noble Virtues better than Grendel
because of his Courage, to stand up against Grendel. Truth, he believes what is right is the right thing
to do. Honor, he sticks to the idea that he is good, and that Grendel is and will always be evil. Fidelity,
he will always fight for his kingdom and his friends. Industriousness, he fights hard against Grendel
and works hard to defeat him. Self Reliance, he doesn t rely on weapons or other people to fight
Grendel. And Perseverance, Beowulf defeats Grendel, and never gives up. Grendel only has five of
these nine traits while Beowulf has seven out of the nine. Meaning that Beowulf is nobler than
Grendel. Beowulf and Grendel have some of the nine virtues, but not all. Grendel is less noble than
Beowulf. Beowulf has Courage, Truth, Honor, Fidelity, Self Reliance, and Perseverance. He is
courageous because he is the one to stand up to Grendel and of Now I mean to be a match for Grendel,
settle the outcome in single combat. (Beowulf 425 426). He has truth because he told the truth about
him and Breca swimming in the sea and of Well friend Unferth, you may have had your say about
Breca and me. But it was mostly the beer doing the talking. The truth is this: When the going was
heavy in those high waves, I was the strongest swimmer of all. We d been children together and we

protection against the whale beasts. But Breca could never move out farther or faster from me than I

One in every seventeen people in America suffers from a mental disorder. These disorders inhibit the
afflicted person from functioning properly and coping normally with daily life. Many afflicted with a
psychological disorder do not exhibit obvious symptoms, as medical advancements have made it
possible for these disorders to be suppressed or even nonexistent. Today, however, harsh stigmas exist
that unfairly categorize those with a mental illness as violent, unfriendly, and abnormal. The media

News broadcasts and reports are equally culpable in their portrayal of mentally challenged individuals.
In the fight to gain an interested audience, reporters sell stories instead of simply telling them. As a
result, mental illness is overemphasized to elicit a stronger reaction from the audience.
A good story catches public attention either by focusing on conflict and controversy or by raising
issues of public safety all perspectives that may place journalists in direct conflict with mental health
advocates. News media, particularly newspapers, are among the most frequently identified sources of
mental health information. This gives them great scope to dispel inaccurate and stigmatizing
stereotypes perpetuated in the entertainment media or to reinforce and amplify them. Results show
that news representations of mental illness [...] are largely inaccurate and negative. Reporters
emphasize the violent, delusional and irrational behavior of people with a mental illness, and often
sensationalise headlines or story content in order to attract attention .
What makes this type of stigmatization so dangerous is that the news is generally accepted as factually
based, when, in reality, a disproportionate amount of broadcasting and newspaper articles are not; they

The Mystery Of The False Confession In Arthur Miller s The...
The Mystery of the False Confession Noah White Ms. Maney American Literature 12/10/2017 In post
9/11 America, one of the most debated topics is the use of torture and unreliable interrogation
techniques to extract information from suspects. Said use of torture is considered not only heinous but
somewhat notorious for producing unreliable and false confessions. In Arthur Miller s The Crucible, a
spotlight is shined on this topic by the situation of the Salem Witch Trials in which so called witches
are forced to confess to their non existent offenses by threat of hanging. Considering these points, the
question must be asked; why are false confessions so prevalent and why do they occur? One of the
earliest recorded instances of a false confessions was the confession of Robert Hubert in 1666 after the
Great London Fire. The London fire destroyed thousands of houses, businesses, 87 churches, and
killed tens of thousands of people. And the man who confessed to starting it? A disabled man in a
wheelchair who wasn t even in London on the day that it started. It is speculated that Robert Hubert,
after slight suspicion on behalf of the king, was interrogated or even tortured for a confession.
According to Rob Jones of History of Forensic Psychology, Despite the many obvious flaws and
impossibilities in Hubert s confession, a scapegoat was needed (Jones 1). Only around the 1980 s did
psychologists and other social scientists begin to truly investigate the phenomena of the false

The Importance Of Love In The Novel Between Shades Of Gray
William Sloane Coffin once said, The world is too dangerous for anything but truth and too small for
anything but love. (good connection) Within the novel Between Shades of Gray, written by Ruta
Sepetys, the main character, Lina, gets transported to labor camps with her whole family besides her
father. Lina then spends most of her time at these labor camps being starved and searching for her
father. Throughout the whole experience of the labor camp, love is what keeps Lina moving and stops
her from giving up. The novel, Between Shades of Gray, written by Ruta Sepetys, demonstrates love
overcomes fear and suffering.
First of all, in the beginning of the novel, Lina finds love in her relationships which helps her defeat
all pain. As she suffers traumatic events, Lina finds hope through her friends and family, allowing her
to survive horrendous labor camps. Additionally, expressing their strong connection, Lina also learns
to cling onto her friends and family mentally when they physically aren t there. When Lina gets
seperated from her boyfriend, Andrius, he gives Lina a stone to remember him by. While feeling alone
one night, Lina says, I will see you...I will. I reached into my pocket and squeezed the stone (336).
This stone symbolizes their love and hope to just see each other again. Without this stone to hold onto,
Lina would probably give up. Then, soon after Lina found out her father died in prison, which built
onto all the stress and suffering in her life. Before

Naked Lunch Literary Analysis
Naked Lunch Analysis The book Naked Lunch could be measured as at times, poetic, but the
belligerent content, troubling images, duplication of sentences, and its nonexistence story plot makes
it something unquestionably dreadful to read. The novel is organized as a series of poorly linked

What are some of the challenges in determining the time of death using insects?
Ans. Some of the challenges in determining the time of death using insects would be keeping the body
in a cold environment which would completely stop decomposition. Another challenge would be
burning the body in a flammable liquid that would damage the body.
2. Why is entomology an important area of forensic science? How can this area help criminal
investigations?
Ans. Entomology is an important area in forensic science because it can prove the time and place of an
incident and can also help in catching the killer.
3. What is the process of collecting insect samples? What challenges are there in collecting samples of
insects from human remains?
Ans. First of all, forensic entomologists get the temperature of the body, and then look for the
presence of maggot mass. They also count in the weather outside the body. The body getting enough
sunlight or none at all makes it a big challenge for them. It can affect the time of when insects usually
tend to appear in the body.

In Breast Cancer, The Estrogen-Estrogen Receptor Complex
In breast cancer, the estrogen estrogen receptor complex cause cell proliferation (Frank, 2013).
Hormone therapies can target the effects of hormones in two ways: 1) by stopping the production of
estrogen and testosterone, reducing their levels, and 2) by binding to the hormone receptor and
blocking the hormone from binding (Frank, 2013). In breast cancer, drugs such as Lupron prevent the
ovaries from making estrogen by blocking cues from the brain that regulate the ovaries (Frank, 2013).
In prostate cancer, Lupron works the same way to prevent the testes from producing testosterone

To even have a chance at success, health education programs must be implemented before the age of
14 (Williams, 1987). Health education programs are being implemented in schools that will teach
about the dangers of smoking and passive smoking (Williams, 1987). This is a preventative measure to
decrease the amount of people in society who are smoking and prevent children from picking up this
habit. Another health disparity is ethnic background. A study found that Asian women are referred for
late treatment for a breast lump compared to Caucasian women (Winship, 1997). Part of this disparity
is the disbelief that Asian women can/will develop breast cancer (Winship, 1997). Hospitals and
medical professionals also contribute to this disparity with ignorance towards minority cultures and
lack of interpreters (Winship, 1997). There must be changes implemented to medical and nursing
training as well (Winship, 1997). Medical manufacturers have been delayed with responding to the
needs of ethnic minorities such as a providing a variety of shades for prosthetics (Winship, 1997).
There is a need for strategically targeted educational material that will educate Asian women and
women of other ethnic backgrounds about the risks of breast cancer or even developing any form of
cancer (Winship, 1997). In prostate cancer, there is a very high incidence and mortality rate seen in
black Americans (Gilligan, 2005). There are major social

The Use Of Media And Media During The French Revolution
Media and propaganda have helped establish free societies, overthrow governments, and incite wars
throughout history. Revolutionaries utilized each to inspire and unite the populace during the French
Revolution. Persuasive newspapers and pamphlets featured opinion pieces that convinced commoners
of the drastic economic, social, and political changes needed to improve their quality of life, role in
society and potential for social advancement. Revolutionaries used art in museums and mass
distributed prints as propaganda to rally the masses with nationalistic themes of heroism, martyrdom
and the power of the people. Music and festivals also contributed by infusing the masses with passion
to unite against the monarchy and fight for the revolution. The use of media and propaganda in the
French Revolution systematically distributed revolutionary ideas to the people and drastically altered
the course of the movement.
The French Revolution officially began in 1789, but the monarchy made a series of disastrous earlier
decisions which created the perfect conditions for the movement to thrive and engulf the country in
chaos. King Louis XVI dedicated funds to assist the American colonists in their fight for
independence against the British. While the French succeeded in their goal, the war left France with a
depleted treasury. Peasants became dissatisfied with the government after a series of droughts and
poor harvests. Tensions were further inflamed by the high taxes the monarchy

Environmental Pollution
Introduction: Our planet relies on vegetation as a source of oxygen and cutting it down takes away that
source. This creates an unstable balance where civilization needs to rely on something else for that
missing part of oxygen. To what extent should humans prevent deforestation in major forests
worldwide? Forests cover about 30% of our entire planet and scientists are predicting that within the
next 50 100 years, deforestation will cause all non protected forests to be cut down (National
Geographic). As stated by the NASA Earth Observatory author and editor Rachel Lindsey, In the
Amazon alone, scientists estimate that the trees contain more carbon than ten years of human
produced greenhouse gases (Lindsey). As people cut down trees on a daily basis, the carbon that is
held in the tree is released into the atmosphere, adding to the already present global warming problem.
As the trees are cleared, people tend to replace this previously forested area with pastures and fields to
grow crops on. This is not only bad for the environment, it additionally creates a hotter climate.
Meanwhile, Science News author and previous writer/editor for the Chicago Adler Planetarium Janet
Raloff shows readers that nitrous oxide has a large impact on the ozone of our planet, contributing to
global warming and climate change. The ozone absorbs most of the radiation coming from the sun to
the earth. As trees are cut down, it increases the rate of nitrous oxide released into the atmosphere

Characterizing Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin Receptors in...
Background Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin belong to the calcitonin family of peptides and have high
affinity binding sites in the rat spinal cord. The aim of this study was to functionally characterize
receptors for Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin in the spinal cord of rats. We assessed the expression of c
fos in response to intraplantar formalin in the lumbar regions of spinal cord in conscious rats.
Methods:
Amylin (0.05nmoles) or Salmon Calcitonin (0.005nmoles) were administrated intrathecally) 10 min
before the start of formalin test. Antagonists were injected intrathecally 10min before the
administration of either of the peptides.
Results:
Two hours after formalin stimulation, rats pretreated intrathecally by either Amylin or Salmon
Calcitonin showed lower numbers of c Fos immunoreactive nuclei in their lumbar spinal cord as
compared to rats pretreated by saline. These effects were reversed upon co administration of either of
the Amylin antagonists AC187 or rat amylin8 37, but not rat α CGRP8 37. Few cells with c Fos
immunreactivity were found in the lumbar spinal cord of rats two hours after i.t. injection of saline,
Amylin and/or Salmon Calcitonin. However, Fos like immunoreactivity was increased in the lumbar
spinal cord two hours after i.t. treatment of either of the antagonists AC187 and rat amylin8 37when
compared to saline treated rats.
Conclusion:
Both Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin inhibit formalin induced c Fos expression in the rat lumbar spinal
cord when

Essay on hannibal
From the middle of the 3rd century to the middle of the 2nd century BC, Carthage was engaged in a
series of wars with Rome (Dorey, P 57). These wars, known as the Punic Wars, ended in the complete
defeat of Carthage by Rome. The most prominent figure of the Punic wars was General Hannibal of
Pheonician Carthage. During these wars, it s likely that the colonizing expeditions of the
Carthaginians were supported by many emigrants from the Phoenician homeland. Hannibal was the
son of the great Carthaginian general Hamilcar Barca. According to Polybius and Livy, the main Latin
sources for his life, Hannibal was taken to Spain by his father and at an early ... Show more content on

Finally on the 15th day, after a journey of five months from Cartagena, with 20,000 infantry, 6,000
cavalry, and only a few of the original 38 elephants, Hannibal descended into Italy, having surmounted
the difficulties of climate and terrain, the guerrilla tactics of inaccessible tribes, and the major
difficulty of commanding a body of men diverse in race and language under conditions to which they
were ill fitted (wsu.edu). Hannibal s forces were now totally inadequate to match the army of Scipio,
who had rushed to the Po River to protect the recently founded Roman colonies of Placentia (modern
Piacenza) and Cremona. The first action between the two armies took place on the plains west of the
Ticino River, and Hannibal s Numidian cavalry prevailed. Scipio was severely wounded, and the
Romans withdrew to Placentia. After manoeuvres failed to lead to a second engagement, the combined
armies of Sempronius Longus and Scipio met Hannibal on the left bank of the Trebia River south of
Placentia and were soundly defeated (December 218). This victory brought both Gauls and Ligurians
to Hannibal s side, and his army was considerably augmented by Celtic recruits. After a severe winter
(in which he contracted an eye infection), he was able to advance in the spring of 217 as far as the
Arno River (wsu.edu). Although two Roman armies were now in the field against him, he was able to
outmanoeuvre that of Gaius Flaminius

DISCUSSION
The above graph depicts the average Rockwell C Hardness achieved by each sample. This average
disregards missing data or data that was noted as questionable. The graphed averages demonstrate the
general trends of the different types of steels that were subjected to a heat treatment and quench
media. Samples 1, 3, and 4 show a similar hardness after water quenching but differing characteristics
during the other quenching types.
Sample 3 achieved a higher Rockwell C rating than its initial As Received hardness with every type of
quench.. Whereas samples 1, 2, and 4 softened during the annealing process but increased in hardness
with the other quenching medias.

Although the exact carbon content cannot be definitively determined based solely off of this
experiment, it allows for a logical path to hypothesize on each samples characteristics.
1. Sample 1 demonstrated characteristics of a medium carbon steel. It softened during the annealing
process and progressively hardened with each increase in quench rate.
2. Sample 2 demonstrated characteristics of a low carbon steel. It softened drastically during the
annealing process and progressively hardened with each increase in quench rate, but never achieved a
very high rating.
3. Sample 3 demonstrated characteristics of a high carbon steel. It did not soften during the annealing
process, and rapidly hardened with quench media, plateuing in its RCh rating.
4. Sample 4 demonstrated characteristics of a medium high carbon steel. It softened during the
annealing process, did not achieve a high RCh during air quenching, but proceeded to achieve a high
RCh with oil and water quenches.

Radiation Threats Of Astronauts On A Long Journey Through...

Radiation Threats to Astronauts on a Long Journey through Space Astronauts travelling to Mars or
another distant area of interest would face numerous challenges throughout their journey, one of which
is being exposed to radiation from space. There are two types of radiation: ionizing radiation and non
ionizing radiation. [1] Non ionizing radiation is radiation that cannot cause electrons to become
detached from the atom, like visible light and radio waves. [1] This type of radiation is not dangerous
for astronauts and is commonly found on Earth. Ionizing radiation, on the other hand, has enough
energy to remove electrons from their orbits around an atom, causing a charged particle. [1] ... Show

[1] This type of radiation would be dangerous for astronauts, and it would need to be shielded against
for long distance space travel to be viable. SPE are the ejection of very energetic protons, alpha
particles and heavier particles into space; these include solar flares and coronal mass ejections. [1]
Under normal conditions, astronauts would not be concerned about this, but occasionally, very large
SPEs occur that can produce radiation with energy levels high enough to be lethal in a very short
period of time. In fact, between Apollo missions 16 and 17, one of the largest SPEs ever recorded
occurred, and it produced radiation with energy levels that would be lethal to astronauts outside the
atmosphere in under 10 hours. [1] The health risks of radiation exposure can be described as either
acute or chronic. Acute exposure is short term and the severity of symptoms ranges from nausea to
central nervous system damage and even to death in large doses. [2] Chronic exposure is usually less
intense radiation but for a longer period of time, and the health risks include developing cataracts and
an increased risk of cancer. [2] This is the most pressing issue for astronaut safety. Normally, when
exposed to the low levels of radiation we encounter every day, cells are able to mend themselves very
quickly. When we are exposed to high doses, such as astronauts would encounter in space, cells may
not be able to repair themselves and can become mutated

Cold War Containment Strategy
During the beginning stages of the Cold War, the United States fought communism on two separate
fronts: Europe and Asia. After Stalin implemented communist governments in Eastern Europe and
banned free elections, the United States decided that it needed to start a strategy of containment. First
introduced by George Kennan in 1946, containment was a policy of preventing the spread of
communism in other parts of the world, including Eastern Europe, China, Vietnam, and Korea.
Though commonly associated with the Truman Doctrine and the Marshall Plan, early Cold War
containment affected more than just the Europeans. Containment took on a completely different role
in Asia, especially in the United State s stance towards China. Containment strategies ... Show more

Since the outbreak of the Second Sino Japanese War in 1937, the Americans had been supporting the
Chinese Nationalist Party, led by Chiang kai Shek. Despite the United States sending almost three
billion in aid, the Nationalists were too corrupt to defeat the Communist Party in the struggle for
power. By 1949, the Nationalists had fled to Taiwan, in in October, the People s Republic of China
was declared, led by communist ruler Mao Zedong. After this, communist China stated that it would
work with the Soviet Union against the imperialist Americans, causing tensions between communist
China and the United States to reach an all time high. In the United States, many were wondering who
lost China, and what could have been done to stop to Communists. The next encounter with
Communist China was during the Korean War. In 1950, the Soviet backed North Koreans invaded the
American backed South Koreans, leading to an outbreak of war between the two groups. The United
States immediately sent military help to the South Koreans, pushing the North Koreans back up, past
the 38th parallel. As the United States, pushed farther north, they advanced closer to the Chinese
border, causing the Chinese to enter the war against the United States. Fighting between the
Americans and the Chinese lasted until 1953, with approximately 55,000 Americans dead. In Asia,
containment had come

Flaws Of The Education System
Flaws in our Education Brent Staples wrote Why Colleges Shower Their Students with A s to show
the flaws in the education system with teachers giving unfair grades to students. Similarly, William
Zinsser wrote College Pressures to show how colleges are putting unnecessary stress on their students.
While it is important to draw attention to these problems, it is also necessary to find solutions as well.
Bringing the issues to the public knowledge is only the first step in correcting our flawed education
system. There are certain classes that are more common than others, specifically regarding the general
education classes such as English and math courses. However colleges also offer less common classes
that certain students may have an interest in. The problem with these smaller classes is that with the
poor attendance records, the classes could be cancelled as the college sees it as a waste of money; this
is one of many reasons why professors give out unearned A s (Staples 329). To fix this problem,
colleges should look not at the attendance sheet, but instead the overall GPA s of the students in the
class. This not only will show if the students who are going to the class are learning and
comprehending the material, but also can compare to the more popular classes with higher attendance
that may not have as good of grades. Another solution would be giving the class time to grow popular.
If a professor is teaching a new class for the

According to Bolton (2014), the oil price reaches the highest price of almost $150 a barrel in July 2008 and felt in the second half of 2008 as the global financial crisis started. There are a many reasons why the price were so high until the first half of 2008. Since 2002, the high demand for fuels in rapidly developing countries, such as China and India increased. • 3. A Speech On The S Car Essay Today s your day, Ez. Get in the fuckin car. Abe shouted from the driver s seat, even though I was already making my way over to the car. I walked towards the passenger doors before he corrected me. Not in the back. I saved shotgun for ya. It was only a couple months since I became an official a part of the gang, and I already got to sit up front with Abe. I got in the small electric car and thought about the precious seat. Solo said he worked to impress Abe for five hundred forty seven days (or a year and a half) before he got shotgun, but now he was back sitting behind him. His blond curls were squished against the door to make room for Sus s gigantic arms. Took you long enough, kid. Cob greeted me as I closed the door. He called me kid , even though I was two years older. He was old enough to still be in high school, if he could afford that shit. Abe turned the key as the door slammed. The recorded rumble of a muscle car hummed from the speaker on the grill, which signaled the car was on. We drove from my apartment on the north bank of the river, across the bridge into South Side. You re gonna love this place, Ez, said Abe pointing to the overgrown skeleton of steel in front of us. We drove into the discarded shamble of concrete until the chaos gave way to weeds a few miles down. Without slowing down, Abe swerved into an abandoned construction site and skidded to a stop. We got out of the car and walked through the columns of rust, broken slabs of concrete, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Second module which is called managing suppliers includes ordering for raw materials like for instance cotton, denim and silk. It helped me understand how to optimize our order based on the factors like quality and lead time. The third module is known as forecasting and contracts, which showed the significance of the understanding the idea of forecasting the demand of the up coming seasons. Where are your manners? Grandma s words echoed in Riya s ears while she was looking at Preeti. Yes, there was a definite flicker of unguarded hunger before Preeti lowered her eyes and pretended otherwise. How did she know to do that? Did her grandmother also tell her the same thing? How to hide one s desires and hunger? Did these kids also get lessons in manners the same way? Riya normally was a very well mannered girl, also because she was given ... • 7. The Theories Presented By Tolstoy And Bell To categorize art by such vague criteria as expression and form would be difficult if it were not for the several prevailing theories presented by Tolstoy and Bell. According to Tolstoy s theory of expression, something is art only if it successfully does the following. First, it must have been created with the intention of being art and revealed to an audience through a publicly accessible medium, even if the audience is a single individual. These mediums must be physical things such as shapes, actions, or words in order to be available to its viewers. Second, the medium of art must be an individualized work that has not been replicated or mass produced. Third, he believes that the art must convey the feeling or emotion that the artist experienced while producing the art. This emotion must also be evoked within the audience. Lastly, the work must require self mediation or clarification in order to be interpreted by said audience as art. As a result, a work is not required to be about something in order to be art. On the other hand, Bell offered the theory of formalism in order to determine if a work was art or not. According to Bell, a work is art if it is an artifact that possesses significant form without referencing what it represents. In this context, the significant form is the artistic value of the work that the author intended for the audience to recognize. Additionally, the work does not have to be created solely with the purpose of possessing significant form. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The s Resistance Army By Joseph Kony Some of the basic human rights we see as children of the United States are not guaranteed everywhere. One example of this would be the oppressing of children in Uganda. As more and more children were enslaved by the Lord s Resistance Army, led by Joseph Kony, the Invisible Children was founded to raise awareness through their campaign of Kony 2012. After eight years of campaigning against the Lord s Resistance Army, the Invisible Children posted a video titled Kony 2012. Through the class discussion, I was able to realize that this principle is used in families, where the parents are the Prince and the children are The People. Battle Of Kadesh Essay First and foremost, the primary sources inform us on the different players involved in the ongoing conflict between Egypt and the Hittites, showing both empires with great armies, but more importantly, comprehensive awareness of the Hittite army of this time period is deeply indebted to Egyptian reliefs. Kadesh was a city located in Syria and was the site of the famous battle between Egypt s King Rameses II and the Hittite Empire s King Muwatalli II. This battle, known as the Battle of Kadesh, is thoroughly documented in primary sources like Rameses II s texts, letters, Seti I s reliefs, and Rameses II s reliefs at Ramesseum and Luxor. Rameses II was very vocal about the Battle of Kadesh. He depicted a great Egyptian victory at Kadesh and for many years, this depiction was believed to be true. Today, however, scholars of the battle have varied views regarding Rameses II s account of the battle and believe the battle itself was likely a draw, at best. Rameses II aimed to yield permanent measures against the Hittites and push them far away from Egypt s borders. A fundamental goal of Rameses campaign was to seize Kadesh, which was the central hub for trade at the time, and was controlled by the Hittites. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Impact of cloud computing in supply chain, 2015) The difference between distributed computing with individualized computing is that the cloud technology gives an extensive variety of capacities. The usage of cloud built solutions depends on different elements, for example, the division in which the business works; the practicality of porting existing parts on cloud, size of the organization, and the area of customers and so on. It helps in reducing the time required as well as minimize the fixed cost of the company. Therefore, it is not logistic to make a single explanation of implementation of cloud computing technology. For example, a newly started company can adopt the cloud based solution easily but it is difficult for existing firms to shift their supply chain to cloud technology. Let consider a business has both ERP and CRM solutions, as concern from security view the business may move their CRM to cloud while store ERP in house server. • 21. Analysis Of Blood On The Forge By William Attaway A Change of Culture Culture has the power of informing you of someone s identity. It is said that culture is the way of life a group of people follow, meaning their behaviors, beliefs, values, and symbols that identify them as where they came from, who they are, and who they can become. On the other hand, we know that culture is always changing and adapting to the lifestyle and advances of the present day. This can happen by the adaptation groups of people have suffered in order to achieve a better way of living other than the one they ve previously had. Examples of these changes can be seen with the Great Migration in the 1900s. A movement in which many African Americans moved to the North to work and settle in the steel mills in search of a better life. In Blood on the Forge by William Attaway, we are able to in fact prove that culture can change and adaptation plays a key role in our existence. The book portrays this change through the life and experiences of the Moss brothers and their lifestyle from Kentucky to Pennsylvania. With that of culture comes our identity through music. The death of the blues serves as an example in how culture is put up to the challenge of change. Melody, Chinatown, and Big Mat represent the loss of folk culture which accompanied the Great Migration of Black people from the rural South to the industrial North (Waldron 58). As we begin to read, we are able to interpret their lives and identity in the South through Melody s music. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a traditional point of view, humans are above animals, but the ability of the merchant to understand the animals defies the traditional hierarchy. This decentralization of the relationship between a human and an animal is significant in the fact that the words of a rooster end up influencing the actions of a person (the merchant). The rooster represents the traditional patriarchal concept of male superiority over female since he discusses a stern piece of advice with a dog, after he jumped on a hen and, finishing with her, jumped down and jumped on another (Haddawy, 19), displaying a behavior of control and disrespect over the opposite sex. The rooster indirectly advises the merchant, through his conversation with the dog, to fall on her (referring to the merchant´s wife) (19) and beat her with an oak branch until she has no desire to question her husband´s actions. The merchant heeds the words of the rooster, and reestablishes the hierarchy of male over female dominance by using impulsive and violent animal like brutality. Yet, the hierarchy of human reason dominance over animalistic behavior was diminished after the merchant followed the advice of his cock. The Tale of the Merchant and the Demon also explores changes of hierarchies related to the crossing of human animal border. Wittenberg, the city in which their university is located, is widely known as the birthplace of Protestantism and was made famous in part by Martin Luther s Protestant Reformation and the nailing of the 95 Theses to the door of the All Saints Church. The university itself also has significant ties to Protestantism; Martin Luther himself was a professor at the University of Wittenberg and it was during his tenure as Wittenberg s Doctor of Bible that Luther conceived of his famous 95 Theses. Instead Socrates believed that a person should constantly be looking inward. They should question their motives and better themselves by correcting any motives or actions that are not pure. Courage, Truth, Honor, Fidelity, Discipline, Hospitality, Self Reliance, and Perseverance are the Nine Noble Virtues. According to the Vikings, these traits are what make a hero noble. Grendel and Beowulf have some of these virtues. Grendel and Beowulf are similar in some ways through the virtues. Beowulf portrays the Nine Noble Virtues better than Grendel because of his Courage, to stand up against Grendel. Truth, he believes what is right is the right thing to do. Honor, he sticks to the idea that he is good, and that Grendel is and will always be evil. Fidelity, he will always fight for his kingdom and his friends. Industriousness, he fights hard against Grendel and works hard to defeat him. Self Reliance, he doesn t rely on weapons or other people to fight Grendel. The Mystery of the False Confession Noah White Ms. Maney American Literature 12/10/2017 In post 9/11 America, one of the most debated topics is the use of torture and unreliable interrogation techniques to extract information from suspects. Said use of torture is considered not only heinous but somewhat notorious for producing unreliable and false confessions. In Arthur Miller s The Crucible, a spotlight is shined on this topic by the situation of the Salem Witch Trials in which so called witches are forced to confess to their non existent offenses by threat of hanging. Considering these points, the question must be asked; why are false confessions so prevalent and why do they occur? One of the earliest recorded instances of a false confessions was the confession of Robert Hubert in 1666 after the Great London Fire. The London fire destroyed thousands of houses, businesses, 87 churches, and killed tens of thousands of people. And the man who confessed to starting it? Entomology is an important area in forensic science because it can prove the time and place of an incident and can also help in catching the killer. 3. What is the process of collecting insect samples? What challenges are there in collecting samples of insects from human remains? Ans. First of all, forensic entomologists get the temperature of the body, and then look for the presence of maggot mass. They also count in the weather outside the body. The body getting enough sunlight or none at all makes it a big challenge for them. It can affect the time of when insects usually tend to appear in the body. 4. • 39. In Breast Cancer, The Estrogen-Estrogen Receptor Complex In breast cancer, the estrogen estrogen receptor complex cause cell proliferation (Frank, 2013). Hormone therapies can target the effects of hormones in two ways: 1) by stopping the production of estrogen and testosterone, reducing their levels, and 2) by binding to the hormone receptor and blocking the hormone from binding (Frank, 2013). In breast cancer, drugs such as Lupron prevent the ovaries from making estrogen by blocking cues from the brain that regulate the ovaries (Frank, 2013). In prostate cancer, Lupron works the same way to prevent the testes from producing testosterone (Frank, 2013). Drugs such as tamoxifen (breast cancer) and flutamide (prostate cancer) bind to their respective hormone receptors and bloc the hormone from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To even have a chance at success, health education programs must be implemented before the age of 14 (Williams, 1987). Health education programs are being implemented in schools that will teach about the dangers of smoking and passive smoking (Williams, 1987). This is a preventative measure to decrease the amount of people in society who are smoking and prevent children from picking up this habit. Another health disparity is ethnic background. A study found that Asian women are referred for late treatment for a breast lump compared to Caucasian women (Winship, 1997). Part of this disparity is the disbelief that Asian women can/will develop breast cancer (Winship, 1997). Hospitals and medical professionals also contribute to this disparity with ignorance towards minority cultures and lack of interpreters (Winship, 1997). There must be changes implemented to medical and nursing training as well (Winship, 1997). Medical manufacturers have been delayed with responding to the needs of ethnic minorities such as a providing a variety of shades for prosthetics (Winship, 1997). There is a need for strategically targeted educational material that will educate Asian women and women of other ethnic backgrounds about the risks of breast cancer or even developing any form of cancer (Winship, 1997). In prostate cancer, there is a very high incidence and mortality rate seen in black Americans (Gilligan, 2005). There are major social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Use Of Media And Media During The French Revolution Media and propaganda have helped establish free societies, overthrow governments, and incite wars throughout history. Revolutionaries utilized each to inspire and unite the populace during the French Revolution. Persuasive newspapers and pamphlets featured opinion pieces that convinced commoners of the drastic economic, social, and political changes needed to improve their quality of life, role in society and potential for social advancement. Revolutionaries used art in museums and mass distributed prints as propaganda to rally the masses with nationalistic themes of heroism, martyrdom and the power of the people. Music and festivals also contributed by infusing the masses with passion to unite against the monarchy and fight for the revolution. The use of media and propaganda in the French Revolution systematically distributed revolutionary ideas to the people and drastically altered the course of the movement. The French Revolution officially began in 1789, but the monarchy made a series of disastrous earlier decisions which created the perfect conditions for the movement to thrive and engulf the country in chaos. King Louis XVI dedicated funds to assist the American colonists in their fight for independence against the British. While the French succeeded in their goal, the war left France with a depleted treasury. Peasants became dissatisfied with the government after a series of droughts and poor harvests. Tensions were further inflamed by the high taxes the monarchy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Environmental Pollution Introduction: Our planet relies on vegetation as a source of oxygen and cutting it down takes away that source. This creates an unstable balance where civilization needs to rely on something else for that missing part of oxygen. To what extent should humans prevent deforestation in major forests worldwide? Forests cover about 30% of our entire planet and scientists are predicting that within the next 50 100 years, deforestation will cause all non protected forests to be cut down (National Geographic). As stated by the NASA Earth Observatory author and editor Rachel Lindsey, In the Amazon alone, scientists estimate that the trees contain more carbon than ten years of human produced greenhouse gases (Lindsey). As people cut down trees on a daily basis, the carbon that is held in the tree is released into the atmosphere, adding to the already present global warming problem. As the trees are cleared, people tend to replace this previously forested area with pastures and fields to grow crops on. This is not only bad for the environment, it additionally creates a hotter climate. Meanwhile, Science News author and previous writer/editor for the Chicago Adler Planetarium Janet Raloff shows readers that nitrous oxide has a large impact on the ozone of our planet, contributing to global warming and climate change. The ozone absorbs most of the radiation coming from the sun to the earth. As trees are cut down, it increases the rate of nitrous oxide released into the atmosphere ... • 42. Characterizing Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin Receptors in... Background Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin belong to the calcitonin family of peptides and have high affinity binding sites in the rat spinal cord. The aim of this study was to functionally characterize receptors for Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin in the spinal cord of rats. We assessed the expression of c fos in response to intraplantar formalin in the lumbar regions of spinal cord in conscious rats. Methods: Amylin (0.05nmoles) or Salmon Calcitonin (0.005nmoles) were administrated intrathecally) 10 min before the start of formalin test. Antagonists were injected intrathecally 10min before the administration of either of the peptides. Results: Two hours after formalin stimulation, rats pretreated intrathecally by either Amylin or Salmon Calcitonin showed lower numbers of c Fos immunoreactive nuclei in their lumbar spinal cord as compared to rats pretreated by saline. These effects were reversed upon co administration of either of the Amylin antagonists AC187 or rat amylin8 37, but not rat α CGRP8 37. Few cells with c Fos immunreactivity were found in the lumbar spinal cord of rats two hours after i.t. injection of saline, Amylin and/or Salmon Calcitonin. However, Fos like immunoreactivity was increased in the lumbar spinal cord two hours after i.t. treatment of either of the antagonists AC187 and rat amylin8 37when compared to saline treated rats. Conclusion: Both Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin inhibit formalin induced c Fos expression in the rat lumbar spinal cord when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Essay on hannibal From the middle of the 3rd century to the middle of the 2nd century BC, Carthage was engaged in a series of wars with Rome (Dorey, P 57). These wars, known as the Punic Wars, ended in the complete defeat of Carthage by Rome. The most prominent figure of the Punic wars was General Hannibal of Pheonician Carthage. During these wars, it s likely that the colonizing expeditions of the Carthaginians were supported by many emigrants from the Phoenician homeland. Hannibal was the son of the great Carthaginian general Hamilcar Barca. Finally on the 15th day, after a journey of five months from Cartagena, with 20,000 infantry, 6,000 cavalry, and only a few of the original 38 elephants, Hannibal descended into Italy, having surmounted the difficulties of climate and terrain, the guerrilla tactics of inaccessible tribes, and the major difficulty of commanding a body of men diverse in race and language under conditions to which they were ill fitted (wsu.edu). Hannibal s forces were now totally inadequate to match the army of Scipio, who had rushed to the Po River to protect the recently founded Roman colonies of Placentia (modern Piacenza) and Cremona. The first action between the two armies took place on the plains west of the Ticino River, and Hannibal s Numidian cavalry prevailed. Scipio was severely wounded, and the Romans withdrew to Placentia. After manoeuvres failed to lead to a second engagement, the combined armies of Sempronius Longus and Scipio met Hannibal on the left bank of the Trebia River south of Placentia and were soundly defeated (December 218). This victory brought both Gauls and Ligurians to Hannibal s side, and his army was considerably augmented by Celtic recruits. After a severe winter (in which he contracted an eye infection), he was able to advance in the spring of 217 as far as the Arno River (wsu.edu). Although two Roman armies were now in the field against him, he was able to outmanoeuvre that of Gaius Flaminius ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Radiation Threats Of Astronauts On A Long Journey Through... Samantha Stickles ESS102 Section AD Due: 10/23/15 Radiation Threats to Astronauts on a Long Journey through Space Astronauts travelling to Mars or another distant area of interest would face numerous challenges throughout their journey, one of which is being exposed to radiation from space. There are two types of radiation: ionizing radiation and non ionizing radiation. [1] Non ionizing radiation is radiation that cannot cause electrons to become detached from the atom, like visible light and radio waves. [1] This type of radiation is not dangerous for astronauts and is commonly found on Earth. Ionizing radiation, on the other hand, has enough energy to remove electrons from their orbits around an atom, causing a charged particle. [1] ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [1] This type of radiation would be dangerous for astronauts, and it would need to be shielded against for long distance space travel to be viable. SPE are the ejection of very energetic protons, alpha particles and heavier particles into space; these include solar flares and coronal mass ejections. [1] Under normal conditions, astronauts would not be concerned about this, but occasionally, very large SPEs occur that can produce radiation with energy levels high enough to be lethal in a very short period of time. In fact, between Apollo missions 16 and 17, one of the largest SPEs ever recorded occurred, and it produced radiation with energy levels that would be lethal to astronauts outside the atmosphere in under 10 hours. [1] The health risks of radiation exposure can be described as either acute or chronic. Acute exposure is short term and the severity of symptoms ranges from nausea to central nervous system damage and even to death in large doses. [2] Chronic exposure is usually less intense radiation but for a longer period of time, and the health risks include developing cataracts and an increased risk of cancer. [2] This is the most pressing issue for astronaut safety. Normally, when exposed to the low levels of radiation we encounter every day, cells are able to mend themselves very quickly. When we are exposed to high doses, such as astronauts would encounter in space, cells may not be able to repair themselves and can become mutated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Cold War Containment Strategy During the beginning stages of the Cold War, the United States fought communism on two separate fronts: Europe and Asia. After Stalin implemented communist governments in Eastern Europe and banned free elections, the United States decided that it needed to start a strategy of containment. First introduced by George Kennan in 1946, containment was a policy of preventing the spread of communism in other parts of the world, including Eastern Europe, China, Vietnam, and Korea. Though commonly associated with the Truman Doctrine and the Marshall Plan, early Cold War containment affected more than just the Europeans. Containment took on a completely different role in Asia, especially in the United State s stance towards China. Containment strategies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1950, the Soviet backed North Koreans invaded the American backed South Koreans, leading to an outbreak of war between the two groups. The United States immediately sent military help to the South Koreans, pushing the North Koreans back up, past the 38th parallel. As the United States, pushed farther north, they advanced closer to the Chinese border, causing the Chinese to enter the war against the United States. • 47. Flaws Of The Education System Flaws in our Education Brent Staples wrote Why Colleges Shower Their Students with A s to show the flaws in the education system with teachers giving unfair grades to students. Similarly, William Zinsser wrote College Pressures to show how colleges are putting unnecessary stress on their students. While it is important to draw attention to these problems, it is also necessary to find solutions as well. Bringing the issues to the public knowledge is only the first step in correcting our flawed education system. There are certain classes that are more common than others, specifically regarding the general education classes such as English and math courses. However colleges also offer less common classes that certain students may have an interest in. The problem with these smaller classes is that with the poor attendance records, the classes could be cancelled as the college sees it as a waste of money; this is one of many reasons why professors give out unearned A s (Staples 329). To fix this problem, colleges should look not at the attendance sheet, but instead the overall GPA s of the students in the class. This not only will show if the students who are going to the class are learning and comprehending the material, but also can compare to the more popular classes with higher attendance that may not have as good of grades. Another solution would be giving the class time to grow popular. If a professor is teaching a new class for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
