reported by the media. Army cuts. Top general warns over hollowed out armed forces The British
armed forces are due to be significantly reduced in numbers by thousands of personnel by 2020. The
Army will lose 20,000 soldiers, the Navy 6,000 personnel and the RAF 5,000. I found this news report

Once again this can cause a lot of stress on both the public services and the citizens. This can lead to
the stress of families for their children knowing there is a sex worker on the loose. The public services
will be spending a lot of money trying to track this man down. Money will also be used for the
forensics of the murder. The public services will also have to contact the border security, previous
employees, friends and family to see if they know anything and to report to the police if they hear
anything or see him. This media story also highlights the risks involved in working in the sex industry
in the UK. In other European Countries prostitutes are given protection by the public services, The
risk involved in this type of work means that the Police will be regularly involved in investigations of
this nature, this may be seen as a good thing by some people as it keeps the Police active and aware of
this type of activity and crime. There are others who feel this is a waste of Police time as they feel
prostitution is an immoral way of making a living and should not be associated with employment. UK

Creativity In Hip Hop
However the first music genre to be popular and based on the process of sampling was Hip Hop,
which first came to life in the 1970 s. DJ s would experiment with the manipulation of vynils using
turntables and audio mixers, creating a new revolutionary form of music. The steady gain of interest in
electronic music in the mid 1970s to early 1980 s contributed to making use of the art of sampling.
Extending from its early start in the Bronx, sampling has been a major influence and source of
creativity in Hip Hop. The genre has often been challenged by outsiders as it supposingly lacks
originality. However, sampling allows the genre to transcend boundaries others might not be able to
surpass. A few examples of sample based work are provided by

Napoleon And The French Revolution
With all the glory and the splendour that some countries may have experienced, never has history seen
how only only one man, Napoleon, brought up his country France from its most tormented status, to
the very pinnacle of its height in just a few years time. He was a military hero who won splendid land
based battles, which allowed him to dominate most of the European continent. He was a man with
ambition, great self control and calculation, a great strategist, a genius; whatever it was, he was simply
the best. But, even though how great this person was, something about how he governed France still
floats among people s minds. Did he abuse his power? Did Napoleon defeat the purpose of the ideals
of the French Revolution? After all of his success in his military campaigns, did he gratify the people s
needs regarding their ideals on the French Revolution? This is one of the many controversies that we
have to deal with when studying Napoleon and the French Revolution. In this essay, I will discuss my
opinion on whether or not was he a destroyer of the ideals of the French Revolution. Certain
individuals approved of Napoleon s reign as the saviour of France. He finished and completed the
Revolution by fulfilling the ideals the people of France demanded. A person such as one belonging to
the bourgeoisie, or even a peasant would be very satisfied with the way Napoleon ruled over the
country. He gave them equality, freedom, justice, and many rights. Such things never existed

My Experience At Dunkin Donuts
Everybody remembers his or her first job most likely not every detail, but definitely the experiences
one learned. My first job had its ups and downs similar to a roller coaster. Being a Dunkin Donuts
employee is a satisfying feeling because daily you re surrounded by not only coffee but delicious
donuts. My experience as a Dunkin Donuts employee taught me patience and the importance of being
a hard worker. First, I understood the importance of patience because a cup of coffee is made every
second. I started my first day at Dunkin Donuts on a Saturday and quickly learned how busy the
weekends can be. I woke up feeling real nervous that morning. I felt even more nervous knowing my
parents decided to wake up early as well. Mom why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

my name. Usually, every conversation at the cash register or drive through involved a discussion of
my name origin or pronunciation. Although, I learned more than the intentions at Dunkin Donuts
because I learned the importance of patience through learning. Yes, this includes having patience in
endless conversations customers usually like to have with me. In the time, I realized the importance of
being a hard worker. Several months into working at Dunkin Donuts, I decided to quit. I had in mind

Effective parental leave policy: a change in impact factors across three articles from 2008 2014.
Introduction
Traditional family model changed a lot these years, women have their own jobs and cannot pay all
their attention to their families as they used to. Therefore, parental leave policy is put forward for to
decrease work family conflict for both men and women. Parental leave is an employee benefit
available in almost all countries, including maternity, paternity, and adoption leave. During this
period, the policy supports new parents in two ways: offering job protected leave and offering
financial support.
In some countries, people believe that a good parental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was chosen because of its authority as demonstrated by the number of citations (189), and published
by the Center for Economic and Policy Research, which is one of the authority agencies. After
analyzed it, the older article (Hegewisch and Gornick,2008) was chosen from the reference of the
first one, which point out a new idea about the importance of flexible work place. Finally, after
reading and comparing the first two articles, I chose the recent article (Allen et al, 2014), which put
forward a new viewpoint about the attitude of employers, from the citing of the first one. These three
articles show the change of thinking and focus on different impact factors of the policy efficiency.
There are several limitations to the present study that should be acknowledged. Although these three
articles research from different aspects and analyzed the factors that influence and impact by this
policy, it not enough to comprehensive express the thesis and need more extra references.

The Plague by Albert Camus Essay
The Plague by Albert Camus
Albert Camus The Plague, takes place in the desert town of Oran, Algeria, in northern Africa. It is the
perfect setting for this story to take place. The ordinariness of Oran is contrasted with the
extraordinary business of the plague. Sprintzen points out that There is a mythic significance of Oran.
Given the previous description of the quality of Oranian life, the selection of Oran as the location for
the outbreak of plague should not come as a surprise (Sprintzen 38). In Oran, life for its inhabitants
has lost meaning. The plague offers them a chance to give meaning back to their lives. The plot of the
story is revealed in five parts, over which we see the characters undergo changes. Through ... Show

Vital living can be stifled by habits. Todd suggests that It is at this point that one should revolt against
his stultifying pattern of living. Recognition of bottomless death makes a habit bound life even more
absurd (Todd 165). Considering that they are completely unaware of anything around them, it is easy
to see that the disease captures the city completely by surprise; no one is prepared for it. Doctors
gather to discuss the matter. They have trouble naming the disease at first, and refuse to accept it for
what it is. This reflects the whole attitude of the town, as the citizens do they very same thing. Doctors
in particular are the first attempt to combat the disease. The individual efforts are valiant but have a
negligible effect. An epidemic is a problem, which belongs not to a person but to people. It becomes
apparent, however that it cannot merely be one who must oppose the plague. No matter what the
doctors do one their own, they cannot stop the dying. The number of victims lost to the plague climbs
higher and higher. Sprintzen writes The Plague does, beyond any possible discussion, represent the
transition from an attitude of solitary revolt to the recognition of a community whose struggles must
be shared (Sprintzen 103). Yet slowly at first, people begin to die, and the citizens of Oran take notice.
The residents of Oran do not need to worry about looking for society and

Deuteronomistic Themes In 1 Samuel
Secondly, Saul s home was most likely Gibea or some place close to it. Therefore, some have
concluded that the possibility of mixed marriages with new comers, since Gibeonites, who were from
Edomite territories, settled in the land of Benjamin. This is the possible reason why the genealogy of
Saul does not indicate where his father s home is; it was not known or it was deleted.
Summary
In this section historical information concerning the lives of Saul and Samuel have been discussed.
Such information will enlighten ones cultural and contextual study of 1 Samuel 8 15. Moreover, the
reader will have more insight into the referential world of the author, thereby allowing one to discern
their intended meaning.
Theological Overveiw
It is conceivable that Deuteronomistic themes exist within 1 Samuel since it is accepted to be part of
the Deuteronomistic History. Three main Deuteronomistic theological themes or concerns are evident
within 1 Samuel.
First, foreseeing the day that Israel would have a king, expressed in Deuteronomy are instructions for
such a time. At this point it should be noted that the idea of Israel having a king, began in the mind of
God. Contrary to what some believe about the idea of kinship and God s supposed disdain for it,
Howard mentions the fact that God has spoken of kings to Abraham from the beginning (Gen. 17:6,
16; 35:11) ; furthermore, he noted that the problem with anointing a king was intention of the people

Last 100 Years War
I. Introduction
Question, what was the100 Years War and did it really last 100 years?
II
The 100 Years War was an on and off war between France and England from 1337 to 1453 over who
was the rightful heir to the French throne, among other disputes. Small disputes had been going on for
years but the fight really escalated when King Charles IV of France died without a male heir. He did
have a sister Isabella the mother of Edward III. Therefore, Edward believed that because of this, he
should be king of France. The French however, decided that a cousin of Charles, Philip, should be
crowned king.1

The Impact of Childcare on Children s Social and Cognitive Development
Introduction
Over the years the long term effects of preschool childcare has been a topic of growing interest. The
use of these programs have grown dramatically over the years, and more than half of all three to five
year olds in the United States attend childcare centers prior to kindergarten (Peisner Feinberg et al.,
2001). Many questions have risen overtime on the quality of childcare centers, and the research on
these issues has been extremely inadequate. Do these early childcare centers have a long term impact
on a child s social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What seemed to have sparked interest in this topic were the inconsistent findings on the issue of social
outcomes. Although it has been found that children who attended childcare programs appeared to be
more socially competent than home reared peers, displays of aggression and resistance to adult
requests were also described among childcare children (Haskins et al., 1985, as cited in Phillips et al.,
1987). Phillips, McCartney and Scarr (1987) believed that these contradictory findings differed due to
the quality of the childcare programs. Because a high percentage of children were spending majority
of their time in a childcare setting, and with those programs ranging in quality, Bermuda was chosen
as the site to further this research (Phillips, McCartney, Scarr, 1987). Nine childcare centers that
accepted children from infancy through preschool agreed to participate in the study. These centers
were chosen in respect to the diversity of the children s family backgrounds and director s experiences
in childcare (Phillips, McCartney, Scarr, 1987). A total of 166 families participated in the study, with
criteria being that the child must be three years or older, and attending one of the target centers for six
months or longer. Of the 166 children, 130 were African American and 36 were Caucasian. Nineteen

As a result, the correlation between job satisfaction and job performance is also rather strong
(Robbins, 2007). However, George and Jones (2008, p93) pointed out: job satisfaction is not
meaningfully associated with job performance . A study that was conducted by Iaffaldano and
Muchinsky (1985) in the 1980s in this area concluded that job satisfaction only accounted for 2
percent of the difference in performance levels across employees. Another more recent review
indicated a very similar result that job satisfaction only accounted for 3 percent of the difference in
performance level across employees. (Judge, Thoresen, et al., 2001) George and Jones (2008) also
mentioned that work attitudes such as job satisfaction affect work behaviours only when employees
are free to vary their behaviours. The study suggested that most of the employees are not free to vary
their behaviours at work because organizations spend a considerable amount of time and effort to
ensure that members perform their assigned duties dependably regardless of whether they like their
jobs or not. However, it is worth mentioning that the hospitality industry might be an exception to this
rule simply because the work attitudes of the employees account for a very heavy portion of the level
of the service in delivering satisfaction to

The Adelphia Scandal
The Dawn of Adelphia Adelphia was founded in 1952 by John Rigas and his brother Gus Rigas in
Coudersport, Pennsylvania with the purchase of their first cable franchise for $300. After 20 years, the
Rigas brothers incorporated their company under the name Adelphia which derived its name from a
Greek word which means brothers, an apt corporate title for a business that would employ generations
of the Rigas family. Adelphia was a cable television company and built its success on a strong
commitment to customer care; and because of this commitment, a glorious growth spree would follow.

spiraling deeper and deeper into a scandal that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
eventually called, one of the most extensive financial frauds ever to take place at a public company .
The stock continued to fall and on May 15, 2002 John Rigas resigned as chairman and CEO. In the
Securities and Exchange Commission v Adelphia Communications Corporation 2002, the SEC
charged Adelphia of three specific acts. First, executives fraudulently excluded billions of dollars in
liabilities from its consolidated financial statements by hiding them in off balance sheet affiliates.
Adelphia management kept this liability off the books by allocating the co borrowing loans among its
unconsolidated subsidiaries. Debt of the subsidiary was increased and Adelphia s bank debt was
reduced by the same amount. It gave investors the false impression that the company was leveraging
and paying off debts. The company made additional misrepresentations in public statements and
filings to keep up this appearance as well as creating bogus transactions and fictitious documents to

Octavian Caesar Vs Marc Anthony
Octavian Caesar versus Marc Antony
Octavian Caesar, also known as Augustus, was the grandnephew of the dictator Julius Caesar. Marc
Antony was one of Caesar s friends and allies. The conflict between two powerful men who were
competing to succeed Caesar was the spark that transformed the Roman Republic into the Roman
Empire. For several reasons, these two Romans began a feud that changed their own lives and altered
the course of history. First, Octavian, who was acclaimed Caesar s heir, announced his claim to Caesar
s succession after Caesar was assassinated. Antony was displeased because he wanted to rule. Second,
Antony, who controlled the Roman legions, felt threatened when Octavian gathered troops of his own.
Third, Antony s involvement with Cleopatra started rumors that they were plotting against Octavian.

Republic. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Caesar was killed. Since he was Caesar s ally and close friend who had helped him rise to power,

assisted Caesar in defeating Gaul and other enemies, which led to his becoming Caesar s Second in

Essay on Karl Popper s Falsifiability
Karl Popper s Falsifiability
Sir Karl Popper s lecture was very thought provoking concerning where to draw the line. Unlike most
people, the validity of the theory was not his concern as much as how that validity is determined. This
is an issue that really does not get the attention that it deserves. Popper s claims concerning, When
should a theory be ranked as scientific? and Is there a criterion for the scientific character or status of a
theory? seems to be put together in the following summary.
At first Popper seems to just be criticizing the integrity of some sciences and/or scientists who
nebulously back their vague and general theories with references to observations that may be
inconclusive or scanty which they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first half of Popper s lecture seems to coincide with Thomas Kuhn s historical account of science.
Kuhn speaks of the old astronomical theories held and how they resemble many types of theories
today. They were believed for the same reasons: they provided plausible answers to the questions that
seemed important (Kuhn p.3). Kuhn, however, would agree with Popper that theories must go beyond
the content of observation; that it was psychological factors that led the early scientists to group up
observations into a systematic formula.
Basically, with every hypothesis, conjecture, observation, etc. I have read about in Kuhn goes to every
extreme to avoid any type of test that might refute their claims. The limited observations that they did
make could always be interpreted into the theory. What was worse was that those observations that did
not fit into the theory were viewed as only apparent observations (Kuhn p.39).
Maybe this is another factor involved as to why Copernicus was revolutionary. He did not follow this
precedent. Copernicus was not the only one. Many had also refuted Aristotle s views concerning laws
of motion (Kuhn p.83). When observable falsifying evidence is present Kuhn agrees that the
conceptual scheme must then be abandoned and replaced. However, a good distinction is made here.
Conceptual scheme is a much better rendering than theory. Much like what I would call a world view

What Is Strategy
Sarah Carpentier 2016_PG41_07 Strategic Management

Executive summary « What is strategy ? » Porter
Operational effectiveness is not strategy
First of all, we have to distinguish two concepts: operational effectiveness from strategy.
Operational effectiveness is of course necessary for a company, but it is not sufficient: each company
needs its own strategy.
A strategy is a plan for the company, which has to establish a difference with its competitors, and has
to preserve it in order to create a greater value. Strategy positioning is choosing different ways to
achieve similar activities from the competitors.
Operational effectiveness means performing similar activities better than the competitors can do.

Choosing a strategy is choosing a different set of activities from its competitors, it is trying to be
different from them. Strategic positions can be based on 3 sources :
variety based positioning in which the company produce a subset of an industry s products or services
needs based positioning in which the company satisfy all needs of a segment of customers
access based positioning in which the company satisfy different segment of customers according to
their customer geography or customer scale.
Strategy positioning can be define as a difference on the supply side, that is to say a difference in
activities. By choosing a strategy, the company chooses a unique and valuable position, with different
activities from its competitors.
A sustainable strategic position requires trade offs
Nonetheless, defining a unique position can t be sufficient, because the competitors can copy this
position (they can reposition themselves or they can straddle).
Each company has to take into consideration an important point: the risk of trade off. They occur
when a company tries to perform incompatible activities. Due to trade off, the companies have to

Social movements shed light to social issues present in communities and harvest social change in
political, religious, educational, health, government, and other institutional matters. Social movements

mostly through public protest and conversation, in order to promote social justice and democracy.
Throughout history, humans naturally ended up starting movements to simply improve their way of

Life of Ivan Denisovich by Alexander Solzhenitsyn? The word cold plays an important role in the
psychological mind set of a person and brings vivid imagery. It has both, a positive and a negative
aspect. People mostly perceive cold as an energising climate where they can enjoy themselves with

How Did Myths Influence Ancient Greek Society
Introduction Mythology in Ancient Greek society was extremely important. Myths are traditional,
socially powerful stories, usually about life, death, the afterlife, the world, humans, good and evil and
the gods. Greek myths had many purposes in ancient Greek society that still hold value in today s
society. Myths did shock and entertain their audience but they also explained phenomena, taught
lessons and values and allowed a connected between humans and the gods they worshipped. Myths
were used to explain phenomena as ancient Greeks had no scientific knowledge of the world and
wanted an understanding. Ancient Greeks were religious and felt a need to worship their gods is many
ways. Ancient Greeks felt strongly attached to their myths and held them at high value. Paragraph 1
Shock and entertain Myths entertained audiences and shocked them into believing certain things. As
there was no written record of stories, making their stories shocking and entertaining created ease in
remembering. The logic of the stories was accepted for entertainment purposes no matter how illogical
it was. Story telling was their form of entertainment. To entertain their audiences to the greatest extent
the stories were shocking. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The stories told to children were adjusted to suit the adults needs. As there was no written record
anyone could adjust the myths however they wanted. The myth of Pandoras box is an example of a
myth teaching a lesson. Pandora, a tempter to mankind disobeyed the instructions to not open the box
that she was given. Her disobeying her instructions lead to all evil being released to harm humans
(Donn, 2016). This story clearly teaches the lesson to listen to the instructions that you are given or
else harm will occur. Many gods in ancient mythology are half man, half best this displays that there
are two sides to humans and not to trust everyone freely as there is likely to be a side to them that isn t

Rackable Systems (SGI) was founded in 1999 as a specialist server company. At that time, all the

Themes Of The American Dream In A Raisin In The Sun
In Lorraine Hansberry s play, A Raisin in the Sun, she addresses the American dream as obtainable if
you work hard and fight for it. The three main Characters have different views of the American dream,
which is a conflict between them all. The Character Mama a new home of her own, Beneatha wants to
go to medical school and Walter Lee sees owning business his American dream. Mama, Walter Lee
and Beneatha are three strong characters in conflict, all trying to define the American dream. In the
end despite Walter losing most of the money they must come together to ensure that all dreams of a
better life does not die. Realizing that respect and pride for self and family is the true American
Dream. What happens to a dream deferred? (Hughes) Ruth Younger says to Mama, Well, Lord knows,
we ve put enough rent into this here rat trap to pay for four houses by now... Mama looks around with
a smile and sarcastically agrees. Mama explains to Ruth about the day her and Big Walter moved in.
They had only planned to stay in the small apartment for a year. They had dreams of saving for and
buying a home of their own. Lena Younger (Mama) gives an account of the dreams that her and Big
Walter had when they where a newly married couple. She is saddened by the reality that she and Big
Walter s dreams never happen. Hansberry changes the mood to one of regret. Mama gives a gripping
account of the kind of person Big Walter was. He was a hard working, hard headed mean man that
was wild with woman. He loved his children and wanted them to do something and be something.
With his dreams never coming true and him realizing they would never come true he had hopes that
his children were the key to making all his dreams worthwhile. Seems like God didn t see fit to give
the black man nothing but dreams But he did give us children to make then dreams seem worthwhile.
Mama quoting Big Walter s view on dreams in this scene show how important it is to Mama to buy the
home that her and Big Walter wanted to buy. Does it dry up? Like a Raisin in the Sun? (Hughes) Or
fester like a sore And then run? Does it stink like rotten meat?(Hughes) Hansberry shows the character
Walter Lee as a misogynist dreamer with no real plan of his own to

French American Dream Essay
Traveling has always been a guilty pleasure of mine. Imagine strolling down a sidewalk being
surrounded by the twinkling lights of world famous monuments and chapels. Hearing an elegant, but
virgin language from inside the cafe serving cultural cuisine. As an American it is natural to feel so out
of place, but so comfortable with the surroundings in the stylish environment. Being 5000 miles from
home has never felt so native.
France to me has always been a country I would love to visit. French is the language of love and the
way the pronunciation of the simplest words rolls off the tongue is so fascinating. To able to study the
language at such an up front and personal point of view would be an honor and humble experience.
The delectable French food, however would be the best part in my opinion. One of my main points of
traveling around is to be able to indulge in the different meals one wouldn t normally find or prepare
in my kitchen. It is well known for the French chefs to care a lot about their food and prepare every
meal with delicacy and perfectionism. The country is known for its rich history in culinary arts and
offer a wide spectrum of types of food there. Like me, this is every food lover s dream.

an animal lover, this sounds like paradise to me. The cars and streets are also smaller in size and
jaywalking isn t much of a big deal. Another small difference is taken in the homes, the bathrooms are

Commentary On Fear And Loathing By Hunter S. Thompson
Unit 5 Written Assignment
The article I read was called Fear and Loathing by Hunter S. Thompson. It was his response on about
the attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001 here in America. He explains how this incident
changed us. As Hunter S. Thompson said, We are At War now with somebody and we will stay at war
with that mysterious enemy for the rest of our lives. (Thompson, 2001, para. 6). His main focus was
that the Americans will always be at war because of this.
Americans still don t know who the actual enemy was, all they knew at the time was that someone
from the other side of the world started this. The source I chose which relates to the article I read was
called Silence to descend on America as 911 victims remembered.

The Holocaust And The Rwanda Genocide
The mind of a survivor of genocide can be various, violent, confused, or blank, it can scar the mind
indefinitely or not. Not only are the conductors of the kill spree are scary, but even the victims can be
just as terrifying. Two examples of genocide are the Holocaust and the Rwanda Genocide, both of
which gives off long ranges of psychological effects on the mind of those who survive. Survivors
struggle through the tragic events with the hope they would soon find and be with their loved ones. So
how does a survivor survive the experience of genocide? Although survival is key during the event of
a mass genocide, the experience victims go through can wreak havoc upon the mindset, go into
depression or even sometimes to help them strive to a better future. The experience of a mass genocide
can change a person, for the better or for the worse, many go under much stress, go through symptoms
such as PTSD and become scarred mentally and/or physically. At the end of the Holocaust in World
War II, survivors contained poor psychological well being, mental scars for which they experience
PTSD or post traumatic symptoms. After having to go through the experience of genocide, survivors
go through many phases, and mental and physical symptoms and PTSD is one of many symptoms
survivors can go through. (Holocaust) ( Psychological Pain of Survivors par.8) One way survivors
coped with the prolonged horrors of the Holocaust was to sustain the hope of reuniting with their
families. As

Tragedy And The Common Man
According to Aristotle s theory of tragedy, tragedies are best equipped to be based on a protagonist
that is renowned and prosperous, so his good fortune can be dramatically changed. In contrast, Arthur
Miller s essay Tragedy and the Common Man states that the common man is as apt a subject for
tragedy in its highest sense as kings ever were. He proves in his modern essay that the characteristics
and emotions of the common man and the highly placed are entitled to be similar. Miller even
identifies emotions of a average person and how they result in a better tragedy than those who are
highly ranked. In his play Death of Salesman he demonstrates that the normal life of a sales man can
still make for a great tragedy and that his protagonist, Willy Loman, is worthy of a tragedy. One of the
central themes related to his essay and play is that the presence of fear in a common man s life is more
prevalent and perhaps draws us closer the character. Willy Loman s fear of not meeting the standards
to the successful people around him, such as his brother and neighbor, and the failure in his job as a
father that correlates with his children s failures is the storyline Miller presents in his play that weights

The day before the publication of Nature, Emerson gathered with Frederic Henry Hedge, George

Article Analysis Of Camille Paglia s On Date Rape
On Date Rape is an article written by Camille Raglia, which argues the young women of today pay not
much attention about their safety while they re enjoying the freedom they deserve. (Paglia) According
to the author of this article, who also is a humanities professor and a cultural critic, a woman should
pay more attention to their safety while they pursuit the freedom as man does. Because a woman is
likely become a victim in a rape case. In this article, the author also implies that even the law should
protect women from the rape, but women themselves still should build up a self protection awareness
to keep them away from the rape crime. (Paglia) However, even this article points out a main
argument about self protection awareness is necessary for a woman, but some of its point didn t
support the main argument of this article. In additional, the focus of my article is about to analysis the
article of Camille Paglia, On Date Rape. Also, I ll point out some misconceptions about her work.
The first point I recognized in Paglia s article is the third paragraph of the article, which explains that
because of the young feminists come from a white, middle class world, so that they expect everything
should be safe as they think. On the other side, because the black or Hispanic women grow up in a
different environment, where full of sexual culture, therefore they will pay more attention of their
safety (Paglia). In my opinion, the rape crime is not only existing in black and

Ethical Concerns Of Stem Cell Research Essay
Steven Weinberg, a famous theoretical physicist, once said, It does not help that some politicians and
journalists assume the public is interested only in those aspects of science that promise immediate
practical applications to technology or medicine (Doc, 2016, p. 1). Though this refers to many, if not
all, fields of science when there are new technological advances, there is one in particular that falls
under this assumption. There are two basic fields within stem cell research and the one under the most
scrutiny is embryonic stem cell research. To be able to use their stem cells without killing them has
not been developed yet, so many articles on ethical concerns of stem cell research are focused on this
specific topic. Many areas of science are treated as unethical, but stem cell research, which is
considered the worst, could single handedly reshape the world as we know it.
Description of Stem Cells
Unlike the other cells that make up living organisms, stem cells are very different from the others by
two distinguishing characteristics. First, they can be used to become tissue or other specific cells,
mainly organs, with special functions. Second, they are generalized cells capable of restoring
themselves through cell division (NIH, 2015). In some organs, including bone marrow, stem cells
regularly divide to repair and replace worn out or damaged tissues. In other organs, however, such as
the pancreas and the heart, stem cells only divide under special conditions

Characteristics Of Coyote Ecology
The coyote has very distinctive features and is classified as a member of the canine family. They live
in packs and typically mate for life. They are relatively small predators and their ability to adapt well
to the environment around them allows them to live almost anywhere. The coyote s population size
and habitat range has increased over the years. There have been spotting s of coyotes within
residential communities because of human expansion into their territories as well. They shift their diet
depending on the environment they are in. They are susceptible to a few diseases that specifically
affect the dog family. Coyotes typically do not bother people or domesticated pets; however, there
have been rare cases where they have attacked and killed a person. Coyote ecology is important to
understand in order to get a better sense of the environments they live in and how they affect other
wildlife around them. The coyote is a member of the canine family which also includes foxes and
wolves ( Urban Coyote Research ). They are medium in size ( Urban Coyote Research ). Coyotes have
a long, slender muzzle, pointed ears, and a bushy tail resembling a German Shepard ( Urban Coyote
Research ). Their coloration can vary from gray to black, but most are usually a grayish brown with
reddish coloring behind the ears and around the face ( Urban Coyote Research ). Coyotes have yellow
eyes rather than the typical black eyes of domesticated dogs ( Urban Coyote Research ). Most adults

Geysers Spout Research Paper
Carbon Dioxide Could Explain How Geysers Spout Scientists have been researching the background
of geysers for about hundred fifty years, and now they were able to find a clue that could aid them in
getting closer to their answer. The findings of their discovery was printed in the Geology paper online
on March 7. Finding a geyser on this planet is arduous and most of the geysers that we have found are
located in Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone National Park is comprised of about 500 geysers,
the largest amount from any other location, and sits atop of a primitive volcanic hot spot. The spot
once erupted magma, a substance similar to lava. Old Faithful is a geyser in the national park that
erupts frequently. Due to this, scientists decided ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, it will help us understand geysers better, which can lead to more individuals finding more of
these rare structures. If humans are able to find more geysers, especially non acidic ones, researchers
and scientists will be able to perform more experiments. If they conduct more experiments on
questions and hypotheses the world will be able to make gain more knowledge on them. This
discovery is large for scientists have been researching and doing experiments for 150 years, and they
were able to find something now. Maybe, now with enhanced technology, researchers and scientists
will be able to find different of more resources that can be beneficial to environment in the geysers.
Depending of the resource, there might be a large impact. For example, if they learn that there is gold
in the geysers, construction in order to take it out. The gold will sell for lots of money, in which people
can earn their way up to wealth. The discovery of CO2 involved in the action of the geysers spouting
can help save people. In September of 2014, in Japan, there was a steam eruption causing a nearby
volcano erupt. The sudden explosion took the lives of fifty seven people. Understanding that CO2 can
cause eruptions, people can monitor the gas levels from underground, can give a warning. A negative
implication on this article is the amount of money that will be spent in order to conduct more
experiments. They would need money for the materials that will be used, such as chemicals and such,
and the money to go visit a place in which the experiment will be done at. However, if the money is
payed off, we will get a better understanding of geysers work. If humans get a better understanding of
geysers, we can use that knowledge for other similar structures. Then, if we find something new about
them, we can make more predictions and interpretations. During the discovery of new things, we will
also enhance our

Analyse the effects on citizens and public services of the way that three current affairs examples have been reported by the media. Army cuts. Top general warns over hollowed out armed forces The British armed forces are due to be significantly reduced in numbers by thousands of personnel by 2020. The Army will lose 20,000 soldiers, the Navy 6,000 personnel and the RAF 5,000. I found this news report on BBC news. Once again this can cause a lot of stress on both the public services and the citizens. This can lead to the stress of families for their children knowing there is a sex worker on the loose. The public services will be spending a lot of money trying to track this man down. Money will also be used for the forensics of the murder. The public services will also have to contact the border security, previous employees, friends and family to see if they know anything and to report to the police if they hear anything or see him. This media story also highlights the risks involved in working in the sex industry in the UK. In other European Countries prostitutes are given protection by the public services, The risk involved in this type of work means that the Police will be regularly involved in investigations of this nature, this may be seen as a good thing by some people as it keeps the Police active and aware of this type of activity and crime. There are others who feel this is a waste of Police time as they feel prostitution is an immoral way of making a living and should not be associated with employment. • 3. Creativity In Hip Hop However the first music genre to be popular and based on the process of sampling was Hip Hop, which first came to life in the 1970 s. DJ s would experiment with the manipulation of vynils using turntables and audio mixers, creating a new revolutionary form of music. The steady gain of interest in electronic music in the mid 1970s to early 1980 s contributed to making use of the art of sampling. Extending from its early start in the Bronx, sampling has been a major influence and source of creativity in Hip Hop. The genre has often been challenged by outsiders as it supposingly lacks originality. However, sampling allows the genre to transcend boundaries others might not be able to surpass. • 4. Napoleon And The French Revolution With all the glory and the splendour that some countries may have experienced, never has history seen how only only one man, Napoleon, brought up his country France from its most tormented status, to the very pinnacle of its height in just a few years time. He was a military hero who won splendid land based battles, which allowed him to dominate most of the European continent. He was a man with ambition, great self control and calculation, a great strategist, a genius; whatever it was, he was simply the best. But, even though how great this person was, something about how he governed France still floats among people s minds. Did he abuse his power? Did Napoleon defeat the purpose of the ideals of the French Revolution? After all of his success in his military campaigns, did he gratify the people s needs regarding their ideals on the French Revolution? This is one of the many controversies that we have to deal with when studying Napoleon and the French Revolution. In this essay, I will discuss my opinion on whether or not was he a destroyer of the ideals of the French Revolution. Certain individuals approved of Napoleon s reign as the saviour of France. He finished and completed the Revolution by fulfilling the ideals the people of France demanded. A person such as one belonging to the bourgeoisie, or even a peasant would be very satisfied with the way Napoleon ruled over the country. He gave them equality, freedom, justice, and many rights. Such things never existed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My first job had its ups and downs similar to a roller coaster. Being a Dunkin Donuts employee is a satisfying feeling because daily you re surrounded by not only coffee but delicious donuts. My experience as a Dunkin Donuts employee taught me patience and the importance of being a hard worker. First, I understood the importance of patience because a cup of coffee is made every second. Several days, into working I forgot to turn the burner on for Decaf coffee and I had to remake several drinks. Luckily the customer didn t mind waiting. Instead, he asked How do you pronounce your name? Honestly, every customer asked about my name. Usually, every conversation at the cash register or drive through involved a discussion of my name origin or pronunciation. Although, I learned more than the intentions at Dunkin Donuts because I learned the importance of patience through learning. Yes, this includes having patience in endless conversations customers usually like to have with me. In the time, I realized the importance of being a hard worker. Several months into working at Dunkin Donuts, I decided to quit. I had in mind working several months until I started college in the Spring. James I need to tell you something. Introduction Traditional family model changed a lot these years, women have their own jobs and cannot pay all their attention to their families as they used to. Therefore, parental leave policy is put forward for to decrease work family conflict for both men and women. Parental leave is an employee benefit available in almost all countries, including maternity, paternity, and adoption leave. After analyzed it, the older article (Hegewisch and Gornick,2008) was chosen from the reference of the first one, which point out a new idea about the importance of flexible work place. Finally, after reading and comparing the first two articles, I chose the recent article (Allen et al, 2014), which put forward a new viewpoint about the attitude of employers, from the citing of the first one. These three articles show the change of thinking and focus on different impact factors of the policy efficiency. There are several limitations to the present study that should be acknowledged. • 7. The Plague by Albert Camus Essay The Plague by Albert Camus Albert Camus The Plague, takes place in the desert town of Oran, Algeria, in northern Africa. It is the perfect setting for this story to take place. The ordinariness of Oran is contrasted with the extraordinary business of the plague. Sprintzen points out that There is a mythic significance of Oran. Given the previous description of the quality of Oranian life, the selection of Oran as the location for the outbreak of plague should not come as a surprise (Sprintzen 38). In Oran, life for its inhabitants has lost meaning. The plague offers them a chance to give meaning back to their lives. The plot of the story is revealed in five parts, over which we see the characters undergo changes. Through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Vital living can be stifled by habits. Todd suggests that It is at this point that one should revolt against his stultifying pattern of living. Recognition of bottomless death makes a habit bound life even more absurd (Todd 165). Considering that they are completely unaware of anything around them, it is easy to see that the disease captures the city completely by surprise; no one is prepared for it. Doctors gather to discuss the matter. They have trouble naming the disease at first, and refuse to accept it for what it is. This reflects the whole attitude of the town, as the citizens do they very same thing. Doctors in particular are the first attempt to combat the disease. The individual efforts are valiant but have a negligible effect. An epidemic is a problem, which belongs not to a person but to people. It becomes apparent, however that it cannot merely be one who must oppose the plague. No matter what the doctors do one their own, they cannot stop the dying. The number of victims lost to the plague climbs higher and higher. Sprintzen writes The Plague does, beyond any possible discussion, represent the transition from an attitude of solitary revolt to the recognition of a community whose struggles must be shared (Sprintzen 103). Yet slowly at first, people begin to die, and the citizens of Oran take notice. The residents of Oran do not need to worry about looking for society and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Deuteronomistic Themes In 1 Samuel Secondly, Saul s home was most likely Gibea or some place close to it. Therefore, some have concluded that the possibility of mixed marriages with new comers, since Gibeonites, who were from Edomite territories, settled in the land of Benjamin. This is the possible reason why the genealogy of Saul does not indicate where his father s home is; it was not known or it was deleted. Summary In this section historical information concerning the lives of Saul and Samuel have been discussed. Such information will enlighten ones cultural and contextual study of 1 Samuel 8 15. Moreover, the reader will have more insight into the referential world of the author, thereby allowing one to discern their intended meaning. Theological Overveiw It is conceivable that Deuteronomistic themes exist within 1 Samuel since it is accepted to be part of the Deuteronomistic History. Three main Deuteronomistic theological themes or concerns are evident within 1 Samuel. First, foreseeing the day that Israel would have a king, expressed in Deuteronomy are instructions for such a time. At this point it should be noted that the idea of Israel having a king, began in the mind of God. Contrary to what some believe about the idea of kinship and God s supposed disdain for it, Howard mentions the fact that God has spoken of kings to Abraham from the beginning (Gen. 17:6, 16; 35:11) ; furthermore, he noted that the problem with anointing a king was intention of the people to be like the nations ... II The 100 Years War was an on and off war between France and England from 1337 to 1453 over who was the rightful heir to the French throne, among other disputes. Small disputes had been going on for years but the fight really escalated when King Charles IV of France died without a male heir. He did have a sister Isabella the mother of Edward III. Therefore, Edward believed that because of this, he should be king of France. The French however, decided that a cousin of Charles, Philip, should be crowned king.1 III There were several battles during the 100 Year War but, some of the most significant battles included: Battle of Crecy led by Edward III, ... The Impact of Childcare on Children s Social and Cognitive Development Kaitlyn Fillmore The Pennsylvania State University The Impact of Childcare on Children s Social and Cognitive Development Introduction Over the years the long term effects of preschool childcare has been a topic of growing interest. The use of these programs have grown dramatically over the years, and more than half of all three to five year olds in the United States attend childcare centers prior to kindergarten (Peisner Feinberg et al., 2001). Many questions have risen overtime on the quality of childcare centers, and the research on these issues has been extremely inadequate. Do these early childcare centers have a long term impact on a child s social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What seemed to have sparked interest in this topic were the inconsistent findings on the issue of social outcomes. Although it has been found that children who attended childcare programs appeared to be more socially competent than home reared peers, displays of aggression and resistance to adult requests were also described among childcare children (Haskins et al., 1985, as cited in Phillips et al., 1987). Phillips, McCartney and Scarr (1987) believed that these contradictory findings differed due to the quality of the childcare programs. Because a high percentage of children were spending majority of their time in a childcare setting, and with those programs ranging in quality, Bermuda was chosen as the site to further this research (Phillips, McCartney, Scarr, 1987). Nine childcare centers that accepted children from infancy through preschool agreed to participate in the study. These centers were chosen in respect to the diversity of the children s family backgrounds and director s experiences in childcare (Phillips, McCartney, Scarr, 1987). A total of 166 families participated in the study, with criteria being that the child must be three years or older, and attending one of the target centers for six months or longer. However, George and Jones (2008, p93) pointed out: job satisfaction is not meaningfully associated with job performance . A study that was conducted by Iaffaldano and Muchinsky (1985) in the 1980s in this area concluded that job satisfaction only accounted for 2 percent of the difference in performance levels across employees. Another more recent review indicated a very similar result that job satisfaction only accounted for 3 percent of the difference in performance level across employees. (Judge, Thoresen, et al., 2001) George and Jones (2008) also mentioned that work attitudes such as job satisfaction affect work behaviours only when employees are free to vary their behaviours. The study suggested that most of the employees are not free to vary their behaviours at work because organizations spend a considerable amount of time and effort to ensure that members perform their assigned duties dependably regardless of whether they like their jobs or not. However, it is worth mentioning that the hospitality industry might be an exception to this rule simply because the work attitudes of the employees account for a very heavy portion of the level of the service in delivering satisfaction to ... Marc Antony was one of Caesar s friends and allies. The conflict between two powerful men who were competing to succeed Caesar was the spark that transformed the Roman Republic into the Roman Empire. For several reasons, these two Romans began a feud that changed their own lives and altered the course of history. First, Octavian, who was acclaimed Caesar s heir, announced his claim to Caesar s succession after Caesar was assassinated. Antony was displeased because he wanted to rule. Second, Antony, who controlled the Roman legions, felt threatened when Octavian gathered troops of his own. Unlike most people, the validity of the theory was not his concern as much as how that validity is determined. This is an issue that really does not get the attention that it deserves. Popper s claims concerning, When should a theory be ranked as scientific? and Is there a criterion for the scientific character or status of a theory? seems to be put together in the following summary. Kuhn speaks of the old astronomical theories held and how they resemble many types of theories today. They were believed for the same reasons: they provided plausible answers to the questions that seemed important (Kuhn p.3). Kuhn, however, would agree with Popper that theories must go beyond the content of observation; that it was psychological factors that led the early scientists to group up observations into a systematic formula. Basically, with every hypothesis, conjecture, observation, etc. I have read about in Kuhn goes to every extreme to avoid any type of test that might refute their claims. The limited observations that they did make could always be interpreted into the theory. What was worse was that those observations that did not fit into the theory were viewed as only apparent observations (Kuhn p.39). Maybe this is another factor involved as to why Copernicus was revolutionary. He did not follow this precedent. Copernicus was not the only one. Many had also refuted Aristotle s views concerning laws of motion (Kuhn p.83). When observable falsifying evidence is present Kuhn agrees that the conceptual scheme must then be abandoned and replaced. However, a good distinction is made here. There are two basic fields within stem cell research and the one under the most scrutiny is embryonic stem cell research. To be able to use their stem cells without killing them has not been developed yet, so many articles on ethical concerns of stem cell research are focused on this specific topic. Many areas of science are treated as unethical, but stem cell research, which is considered the worst, could single handedly reshape the world as we know it. Description of Stem Cells Unlike the other cells that make up living organisms, stem cells are very different from the others by two distinguishing characteristics. First, they can be used to become tissue or other specific cells, mainly organs, with special functions. Second, they are generalized cells capable of restoring themselves through cell division (NIH, 2015). In some organs, including bone marrow, stem cells regularly divide to repair and replace worn out or damaged tissues. In other organs, however, such as the pancreas and the heart, stem cells only divide under special conditions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Characteristics Of Coyote Ecology The coyote has very distinctive features and is classified as a member of the canine family. They live in packs and typically mate for life. They are relatively small predators and their ability to adapt well to the environment around them allows them to live almost anywhere. The coyote s population size and habitat range has increased over the years. There have been spotting s of coyotes within residential communities because of human expansion into their territories as well. They shift their diet depending on the environment they are in. They are susceptible to a few diseases that specifically affect the dog family. Coyotes typically do not bother people or domesticated pets; however, there have been rare cases where they have attacked and killed a person. Coyote ecology is important to understand in order to get a better sense of the environments they live in and how they affect other wildlife around them. The coyote is a member of the canine family which also includes foxes and wolves ( Urban Coyote Research ). They are medium in size ( Urban Coyote Research ). Coyotes have a long, slender muzzle, pointed ears, and a bushy tail resembling a German Shepard ( Urban Coyote Research ). Their coloration can vary from gray to black, but most are usually a grayish brown with reddish coloring behind the ears and around the face ( Urban Coyote Research ). Coyotes have yellow eyes rather than the typical black eyes of domesticated dogs ( Urban Coyote Research ). Most adults ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Geysers Spout Research Paper Carbon Dioxide Could Explain How Geysers Spout Scientists have been researching the background of geysers for about hundred fifty years, and now they were able to find a clue that could aid them in getting closer to their answer. The findings of their discovery was printed in the Geology paper online on March 7. Finding a geyser on this planet is arduous and most of the geysers that we have found are located in Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone National Park is comprised of about 500 geysers, the largest amount from any other location, and sits atop of a primitive volcanic hot spot. The spot once erupted magma, a substance similar to lava. Old Faithful is a geyser in the national park that erupts frequently. Due to this, scientists decided ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, it will help us understand geysers better, which can lead to more individuals finding more of these rare structures. If humans are able to find more geysers, especially non acidic ones, researchers and scientists will be able to perform more experiments. If they conduct more experiments on questions and hypotheses the world will be able to make gain more knowledge on them. This discovery is large for scientists have been researching and doing experiments for 150 years, and they were able to find something now. Maybe, now with enhanced technology, researchers and scientists will be able to find different of more resources that can be beneficial to environment in the geysers. Depending of the resource, there might be a large impact. For example, if they learn that there is gold in the geysers, construction in order to take it out. The gold will sell for lots of money, in which people can earn their way up to wealth. The discovery of CO2 involved in the action of the geysers spouting can help save people. In September of 2014, in Japan, there was a steam eruption causing a nearby volcano erupt. The sudden explosion took the lives of fifty seven people. Understanding that CO2 can cause eruptions, people can monitor the gas levels from underground, can give a warning. A negative implication on this article is the amount of money that will be spent in order to conduct more experiments. They would need money for the materials that will be used, such as chemicals and such, and the money to go visit a place in which the experiment will be done at. However, if the money is payed off, we will get a better understanding of geysers work. If humans get a better understanding of geysers, we can use that knowledge for other similar structures. Then, if we find something new about them, we can make more predictions and interpretations. During the discovery of new things, we will also enhance our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
