DEHUMANISATION IS A DENIAL OF HUMANITY

three mechanisms central to understanding the social
death of the victim in cases of mass killing and
genocide:
• us-them thinking
• dehumanization of the victims
• blaming the victims

donkeys”. This appears to be an implicit call for
genocide. It crops up several times in this list including

In this memo, it shows that embassy staff recognise

of civilian casualties for granted”. The embassy also
takes seriously the threat of ethnic cleansing stating: “In
Israel several people - including members of parliament,
advisers and the military - do not dismiss this option as

responsibility, it is clear that Dutch Embassy officials
have spoken with those with such authority before
releasing this memo.

their bones”. Another states: “Exterminating the
roaches ... exterminating the Hamas rats. ... Share this
beauty”. Yet another shows a vehicle repeatedly
running over a Palestinian titled: “Run him over run him
over!”. This is listed in this section rather than in the
‘militants’ section as this is an official IDF channel. It
appears to encourage and celebrate violence by regular
IDF soldiers.
