The Negative Effects of Tobacco
The Negative Effects of Tobacco The nicotine can be consumed by chewing tobacco apart from
smoking and sniffing .The article provides insight into the hazards of chewing tobacco . If you believe
that only smoking is injurious, certainly not. Any form of nicotine consumption is injurious. Tobacco
is bad for health, no matter in what form you take it the ill effects are always there. Tobacco are leaves
of plant that are used in dried form, they are high in nicotine and consequently addictive in nature.

However, the American Heart Association (AHA) reports that cigarette smoking is responsible for
440,000 deaths each year. MedlinePlus reports that both cigarettes (smoking tobacco) and chewing
(smokeless) tobacco are bad for your health, and cause multiple and often fatal health problems.
Cardiovascular Disease
One negative effect that tobacco and nicotine addiction has on the health of the body is cardiovascular
disease. AHA reports that cigarette smokers are two to three times more likely to develop
cardiovascular disease than people who do not smoke. Also according to AHA, of the 440,000 deaths
each year caused by cigarette smoking, 135,000 are due to smoking related cardiovascular diseases.
Nicotine in tobacco products causes an increase in blood pressure and heart rate, and a narrowing of
the arteries. Carbon monoxide that is inhaled when tobacco is smoked decreases the amount of oxygen
carried by the blood to feed the body s tissues. The AHA reports that carbon monoxide and nicotine
damages the artery walls, which leads to the deposition of fat and narrowing of arteries, which further
increases blood pressure. Damaged vessels and high blood pressure are all risk factors for heart
failure. Furthermore, smoking tobacco causes the blood to clot more easily, which may cause a heart
attack or stroke. see survivor stories

The Issues Of Technology And Technology
Introduction
Within this essay the issues to be discussed are problems about technology. Information technology is
very important in today s world and is used daily by many people all across the continents.
Information technology has its pros and cons like other technology does, but one of the major
problems are security and privacy. The main issue of this topic would be cyber threats to computer
networks. Examples are threats involving denial of service attacks, malicious software, sniffers and
more.

The Midwife As Distinguished By Leap
The midwife as distinguished by Leap (2009) research of the women centred relationship and the
Australian College of Midwives (ACM) (2016a) defines the midwife role as meeting each woman s

Sullivan et al., (2011) maintain acknowledging the complexity of relationships with women,
colleagues and health care organisation leads to greater job satisfaction for midwives. Further to
Sullivan et al., (2011) research Freeney and Fellenz (2013a; 2013b) demonstrates that quality
midwifery care is promoted when midwives experienced their role as valuable to the health
organisation, those midwives that perceived their role as autonomous and having a prosocial impact
were further engaged in their work. The findings of Aiken et al., (2012) extensive hospital research of
patient safety and satisfaction associated an improvement in patient outcomes, including mortality and
patient satisfaction when hospitals have lower patient to nurse ratios with nurses involved in decision
making, this improved job satisfaction for nurses. In consideration of Aiken et al., (2012) findings and
Freeney et al., (2013a) research organisational support of midwives principals an increase in self
directed performance, superior job satisfaction for the midwife and potentially improving outcomes
for the woman.
The relationship between midwife and woman is identified as a collaborative partnership, avoiding
over or under involvement in the therapeutic relationship, it is advisable to work within the continuum

Alternative hypothesis Ha:
We conduct an independent sample t test using Excel, and obtain the following output (see t test

From the above output, we can see that the p value is 0.000186, which is smaller than 0.05 (if we
select a 0.05 significance level).
So, we should reject the null hypothesis H0. At a 0.05 level of significance level, we conclude that
there is a significant difference between the average height for females and the average height for the
males.
Conclusion:
According to above analysis, we have found that there is a strong positive correlation between the

Why I Want To Be An Assistant Superintendent
Career and Leadership Goals The ultimate career position that I would like to acquire is to become an
assistant superintendent. This position would allow me to have an immense impact on the lives of the
students who attend the school where I am employed. This is very important to me because I desire to
change the lives of as many teachers, principals, and students as I possibly can over the duration of my
career. Being an assistant superintendent gives me the opportunity to see this goal come to fruition.
There are steps that I need to take to obtain the position, assistant superintendent. First, I need to
complete the Educational Leadership Masters Degree Program in which I am currently enrolled. I am
scheduled to graduate on December 17, 2011. This is important to becoming an assistant
superintendent because I must first have a degree in the area of educational leadership. Second, I need
to gain some experience as a building principal. I have already taken and passed the School Leader s
Licensure Assessment for Building Principals. Therefore, I am already licensed to practice as a
building principal. I feel that after ample years as a building principal, at least ten years, I will be

education, to provide students with the skills they need to be successful in their lives. This goal often
becomes overshadowed with all of the other demands that are placed on teachers, students, and
administrators. I want to be innovative in finding ways to work smarter instead of harder to relieve
some of the stresses that are felt by the school s students, teachers, and other faculty

Analysis Of The Movie Monty Python And The Holy Grail
In class, we watched the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail . This movie is set in the time of the
middle ages (roughly 476 1453). It follows King Arthur and his knights as they search for the Holy
Grail. They look for the Holy Grail after they are told to by God. The movie at first may seem like
nonsense and a silly parody, but in reality, Monty Python and the Holy Grail demonstrates the truth of
the Middle Ages, feudal hierarchy, and other topics we have discussed in class.
In the Middle Ages, the Church was one of the most powerful forces. It was a very important part of
the people s culture and was a unifying force for them. It gave people a common belief, protection and
a sense of safety in a time of war. Many people relied on it to receive sacraments and go to heaven,
especially peasants because that was about all they had going for them. The Church and it s matters
were taken seriously and they maintained power throughout the Middle Ages. In the movie, the power
of the church is shown in many scenes. For example, in the scene where King Arthur and his knights
are trying to get into the cave but the rabbit is stopping them, they call in the priests to give them the
Holy Hand Grenade . The priests take it very seriously and tell Arthur very specific instructions for it.
He activates it and blows up the rabbit they are able to enter the cave. This shows that they believed
that the church and God had the most power and the power to do anything. In a time of need, they
turned to the Church.
The feudal system was the method of government that was used in the Middle Ages. The feudal
pyramid consisted of four levels, King at the top, Church Official and Nobles/Lords next, then
Knights, and peasants at the bottom. The King had the most power, the nobles were sometimes vassals
to the king, knights fought in the king s army, and peasants worked in the field all day and were very
poor. In one scene of the movie, peasants are seen working in the fields. They are very dirty and have
bad quality clothing which shows how little money and power they had compared to King Arthur, who
had fancy clothing and did not have to work. King Arthur then asks the peasants who their lord is,
which shows how lords or vassals

Comparing The Innocent Man By Ron Williamson And Dennis Fritz
Ron Williamson and Dennis Fritz were arrested for a rape and murder they didn t commit. The
Innocent Man covers almost every detail regarding the victims lives, the suspects lives, the backstories
of the families, the in depth details of mental health, the judicial system, and more you can probably
think of. I recommend The Innocent Man to anyone who loves to learn about Crime, Lawyers, and the
exposing of corruption and bad police work. The Innocent Man is about 2 men who were wrongly
convicted of a crime they obviously didn t commit. Debra Sue Carter, 22, was found murdered and
raped in her apartment. She died of asphyxiation. Hair and Semen was left behind by the killer. The
Detectives found Ron Williamson and accused him of the crime. Dennis Fritz was another suspect, the
cops assumed there were 2 murderers who both participated in the rape. The two men suspected of the
crime served 12 years in prison each. Ron was sent to death row and Dennis got life in prison. ... Show

Both characters had a history of crime and misconduct. Ron and Dennis were both friends, so the cops
obviously had found their killers. If the cops had actually had investigated the crime and other
suspects, it would have been obvious they were innocent.
The characters definitely ran into problems whether it be bad police work, false evidence, lying
jailhouse snitches, Depression, suicidal thoughts, false lab tests, or anything else you can think of.
My favorite character was Barney Ward because he reminds me of a Marvel superhero by the name of
Daredevil, who is also a blind lawyer. My least favorite was Bill Peterson. He was the opposing
lawyer of Ron, and did a bad job. I feel I could relate a lot to Ron Williamson. He was the only boy

jazz s growing popularity sparked a grave controversy, with many viewing the appeal of jazz as either

popularity in the United States in a time known as the Roaring Twenties, was a dramatic turning point

Not all whom listened to the music, will agree. The statement whereas jazz was a moral disaster to
young girls is inaccurate because teenagers will choose to do whatever they want if it is morally
wrong as a result of growing up and experiencing life. Regardless of what kind of music is playing,
young teens will go as they please. As for the origins issue, people need to stop believing everything
they hear. That issue was developed by a music critic of the New York Herald Tribune. How can
everyone be so sure what that critic is saying is entirely true? III. Conclusion d. Both arguments of this
catastrophic impact that jazz has had on all American people are very strong. Unfortunately, one side
being stronger than the other. Opponents that opposed this argument had some valid points. Their
strongest being a moral disaster on young women. When they say young girls and guys have been
spiraling out of their bodie s sexual or emotional control, they are correct. The love of the genre might
be pulling all types of different people together, that including of boys and girls. A girl and a boy find
that they both have the same interest in jazz music, so they might get to know each other and so on.
But, is that argument really an entire convincing explanation as to jazz being an annoyance or threat to
the American people? This time period being the Great Depression, people struggle

The Opinion Of The Newspaper Discourse Community
Joining the newspaper discourse community was one of the greatest achievements in my high school
career and that was only possible by gaining intellect about the community, securing my place on the
team by proving myself, and by continuing to learn from my experiences.
The first step to achieving my position in this discourse community included familiarizing myself with
the intellect and style of writing that was required for journalists. In my freshman year of high school,
I took Journalism as one of my electives. This course taught the basic knowledge that comes with
journalism that includes journalistic ethics, writing, and skills. I was able to logistically prove myself
to the members of the newspaper discourse community by abiding by the ethical values of journalism.
I was able to know the difference between slander, a spoken defamatory statement, and libel, a written
defamatory statement I was successfully able avoid it in my assignments. Similarly, I studied the
Associated Press Stylebook (AP) that is a required resource to know for journalistic writing. Through
this, I was able to effectively write my assignments knowing that instead of a thesis, I will have a lead
that is thirty five words or less. I knew that my writing would vary depending on the type of story I
was assigned. For example, a news story follows a certain quote transition format to emphasize the
sources while an editorial piece would follow a different format catering to its persuasive nature.

Symbolism In The Invisible Man
1. The chief difference between Wyeth s painting and Wall s photography is that the former acts as a
complement to aid the readers understanding of the general story, while the latter acts as that of the
protagonists life, in the point of view of the protagonist (in this case,) himself. As the text says, the
former, though more popular than the text itself, becomes less meaningful without the original
documents, because the synthesis of the Literature and the illustration is what provides the readers
with the full experience of the book to imagine and be entertained by a story that does not usually
happen (393). To go further, the reader cannot live in it; the reader can only use it as to help one s
imagination/experience of the said fiction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I generally agree with the comments of the MoMA s critique that Wall opened an entirely new way of
illustration, in that Wall s approach was so inviting to the audience. The focal point of the picture is to
the protagonist of the novel, the Invisible Man , and such emphasis does draw some eyes to the
protagonist. However, at the same time, the whole picture is overwhelmed by the number of the
lightbulbs above the man. Though everything is in real life sizes, the amount of the lightbulbs acts as a
hyperbole, as the text suggests (394). Such override of the focus provides the audiences with more
depth of cognition of the situation, and many times, it is not frequently possible in two dimensional
settings, such as (comparatively) plain illustrations like those of Wyeth. In that sense, I think Wall s
photography has opened a new way of the illustration. However, at the same time, I think his
brilliancy is solely due to his use of the medium of photography. In other words, I think his only
contribution to the illustration industry is the use of the film, which conveys different sets of images
and cognition. Films could always do that, and perhaps thousands of the photographers have used such
techniques in their work; there is nothing new about the technique itself. So the only difference Wall
made was his synthesis of the film and the Literature to illustrate that specific

The Strengths And Weaknesses Of Negotiation
Negotiation could be seen in any aspects, any activities of our real life. Negotiations happen when
there is a wide gap between two or more parties interests and targets. Hence, the goal of negotiation is
simply to close that gap by finding out a middle group for both parties. In order to do that, it is
required to develop a great deal of tactics to correctly evaluate ourselves and our counterparty, then
come up with a suitable negotiation strategy. Amongst these requirements, self assessment is the first
and the most important step to take. Hence, in this entry, my objective is exploring my past
experiences in negotiation and see what are my strengths and weakness in doing so. As mentioned
before, we negotiate quite often, much more often than we may think. We can negotiate at home, in
our office, with our friends, families, colleagues or business partners. The participants, the interests,
the motivations of each party vary from case to case. Sometimes we have time to prepare for the
negotiation, sometimes we are just pushed to do it. Sometimes you are totally aware that you are ...

the salary policy and was not transparent about it). Besides, I did not carefully consider timing of the

about this topic in effective manner. I just let my boss to decide my salary increase on his own and no

Evolution Of Flight Research Paper
Flight is a very complex function, and in order to develop into what we know now as birds, there are
several major evolutionary changes that needed to develop to maturity. In order for fly, the skeletal
structure, musculature, respiratory system, circulatory systems, and feathers must all be adapted to
allow for an organism to take flight. Many scientists have proposed theories about the origin of flight,
but the Arboreal and Cursorial theories have emerged as the strongest cases. Arboreal theories are
based around the idea that the organisms climbing into trees jump out of those trees and glide down,
eventually adapted to flap to increase drag. This theory is based in the skeletal similarities of gliding
animals to those of birds.1 This tree hopping evolution hypothesis is supported by Archaeopteryx, one
of the prime examples of a transitional animal for flight. Archaeopteryx presents with long unfused
claws that are adaptations for climbing and grasping.3 In addition, there are also presence of a furcula,

Land Degradation In Turkey Essay
In the past decades Turkey, like many neighboring countries, has faced a growth in population and an
expediential rise in migration from rural areas to urban cities. This rapid rise of population in urban
areas has brought with it a fear of environmental degradation and rise in risk exposure. The
government of Turkey has taken steps in order to lessen impacts on the environment by placing the
environmental law and the creation of National Ministry of Environment created in 1991(EIA, 2010).
However land degradation in Turkey is not solely due to population growth or human behavior in that
matter. Due to its geographic positioning the country has an extreme climate that can change in the
same area from extreme cold and snow to drought and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Acording to the report produced by Univeristy of Gothenburg the most significant form of land
degradation in turkey is erosion, 73% of agriculture land is prone to erosion and during the last decade
over 16,000ha has been lost mainly of the 17% prime agriculture land. Though 86% of turkey s
overall land is somewhat effected by erosion not all the damages are caused by human activities.
According to the Industry of Public Health in Turkey, even though floods accure more often than
landslides; it is the landslides that cause the greatest amount of damages to the structure and property
loss in turkey. According to the 2012 World Report it has been that the erosion of land causes more
landslides as does deforestation lead to more severe floods; thus it is easy to pinpoint effects of land
degradation in disasters and risk exposure. Another cause of risk explosion due to land degradation is
deforestation, exposing the country to more floods; also decrease of biodiversity due to rapid
urbanization which according to World Risk Report can affect the coping capability of a country
during a disaster (World Risk Report, 2012).
Emergency management and systematic response to disasters in Turkey are still in their infancy phase
and in the event of a catastrophic disaster will be in need of additional help to respond

Analyzing The Studio System In Hollywood In The 1920 s
The studio system was an arrangement of craft services and talent that made movies dictated by
contractual terms. Through this system, studios could easily move from project to project, producing
like that of a factory. Creating movies in this arrangement eliminated the need to raise money or
finances; directors usually created movies in the style of the studio which lessened artistic creativity
(Lewis, p 104). The studio system was dominant in Hollywood through the 1920 s well into the 1950
s. Analyzing the studio system simplistically we see basic capitalism. In the 1920 s movies became
more popular, so fulfilling the rules of basic supply and demand, studios were formed to profit from
the insatiable public desire to see more films (in

Polly Beach Narrative
On one warm summers day my family went on a vacation to Beverly beach. As we got closer to
Newport the ocean was to the right of the highway as we drove to the camp ground we rented for a
week. My sister squished in the back of the car like sardines in a can. And to be honest if was staring
to smell from four people and two and half dogs in on car. We rolled the windows down to let some
fresh air in and we knew we were close to the camp ground. We could smell of salt water rushing into
the car and fill up our lungs. As we got closer to Beverly beach we could look to the right and see the
waves of the ocean crashing in to the golden brown beach. The camp ground was a half a mile way
and we were getting antsy. Once we got there it was like

Malaysian National Art Gallery
MALAYSIA NATIONAL ART GALLERY National Art Gallery was designed by a Dutch architect in
1932 and was Kuala Lumpur last major colonial hotel. Today, the hotel has been converted into a
pyramid shaped block art gallery showcasing the work of Malaysian artists located between Jalan
Tunk Razak and Lake TItiwangsa. National Art Gallery was founded in the late 1950s, boasting fine
Malay art with long ridge roof concept adapted from traditional Malays house and a very unusual
modern structure, built with a combination of glass, metal and slate. National Art Gallery aims to
display to the world some of the local artwork, hosts seminars, workshops and competitions in the
local and international arena to promote the appreciation of the arts by the younger generation. Each
building has its own concept which defines what kind of design it used. The roof design of the
National Art Gallery adopted the combination of aluminium rainscreen cladding with curtain wall
system. The following will briefly discuss on the system used: â–ºAluminium Rainscreen Cladding
Rainscreen cladding is a lightweight and durable panelling system that consists of an outer leaf with
air gaps, a ventilated cavity and an inner wall. The cavity is to generate pressure to impede the ingress
of water through the open joints. The open joints between is to permit air movement for drying out the
moisture that gets through the joints. It consist different finishes like cladding panels, brick, ceramic

Clare Gay Rights
In recent years, there has been a surge of queer representation in popular media. Whether or not this
representation accurate and positive is another question, but the fact that queer visibility has increased
is inarguable. According to this Salon article, supporting gay rights is good for business (Kelley). In
the article, Kelley discusses the move by companies to publicly show their support for LGBT rights,
and how this motion is not brave, as much as it is financially beneficial. As we progress further along
in the movement for queer rights, more and more companies hop on the bandwagon, because being
progressive is profitable. For many of these companies, to say anything unsupportive about the LGBT
community will cause an outcry from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Should straight authors stop writing queer characters and relationships for fear of misrepresenting
them? While that may be effective in stopping the misrepresentation, that line of thinking will not
solve the problem. Queer authors will still lack a voice in the writing community, and the issue will be
taken back to square one. One solution would be to further educate straight writers on how to write
queer characters, and the dangers of mishandling them. Most non queer authors have wonderful
intentions of being inclusive, but their works fall short because of the unfamiliarity with the subject
matter. A better solution would be to provide an efficient platform for queer voices to write about their
own experiences and communities. Queer authors should be promoted better so their work is seen
rather than cast off to the side for what straight audiences find appealing in terms of seeing onscreen
gay characters. And this includes queer women and trans people who are so often overlooked, even
within the queer literature community. Gay male characters have a grip on the queer scene, largely
influenced by straight female audiences who have no idea of the harm they cause to actual gay

Reasons For The French Revolution
There were many causes that led to the French Revolution. Class, money, and philosophes were three
major factors that contributed to the French Revolution. The most important cause was money. These
factors resulted in Louis The Sixteenth and Marie Antoinette being executed, and the reign of
Napoleon to begin.
Class conflicts are a huge component of the French Revolution. The French Revolution began as a
result of the lack of the people s happiness over how they were told to live their lives. There were
three estates. The first estate being the clergy, the second estate being the nobility, and the third estate
being the bourgeoisie (commoners). The first and second estate consisted of very few people, but was
given most of the money, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the first and second estate voted that the bourgeoisie should pay all the taxes, the bourgeoisies was
outvoted and was forced to keep paying all of the taxes. The nobility and clergy were very greedy,
especially the clergy. Their morals were supposed to be more focused on the word of god, instead of
being focused on the material aspects of life on Earth. The clergy was supposed to be kind and helpful,
instead of selfish. Since the clergy was greedy, it lead France to be in even more debt and have more
conflicts. There were many privileges only given to the upper classes, which made it unfair. At the
beginning of the French Revolution, the bourgeoisie became very fed up with the inequalities within
the classes. To deal with the inequalities, the estates decided to gather in the tennis courts and take an
oath called the Tennis court Oath. The Tennis court Oath stated that they would not leave until a new
constitution was created. In the end, a new constitution was created and a new form of government
was put into place. The new government was called the national assembly. The national assembly
lasted from 1789 1799 but was then abolished as it upset many people in France because the priorities
of the National Assemblies decisions did not meet the people s needs.
Money was also a major factor to the French Revolution. Once Louis The Sixteenth and Marie
Antoinette became absolute monarchs in 1774, they lavishly spent money. The couple

personal appearance and one s financial situation that is brought to my attention in this section. I was
bothered by the author s findings that Wal Mart caters to the lower income families. They offer
inexpensive food items loaded with calories and very little nutritional value and clothes that are
cheaply made and designed to fit overweight people. Much of the food available to low income people
is loaded with empty calories, which leads to obesity, however, their physical appearance become less

customers. The working class often uses Wal Mart as a place to escape, if only for a little while, and

The Bombing Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki
Bombing of Hiroshima On August 8th 1945 the first atomic weapon, a fission bomb, was dropped on
the city of Hiroshima in an attempt to force the Japanese to surrender in World War II (Bombing of
Hiroshima and Nagasaki, 2009). This event exposed the danger of nuclear energy. This massive
explosion demolished 90 percent of the city and immediately killed 80,000 people. This was only the
beginning though, tens of thousands of innocent people died due to the aftermath of radiation
exposure for another generation (Rosenberg, n.d). This day marks one of the most controversial in
history. While some argue that Truman s decision to drop the bomb was in America s best interest,
others question the ethics of dropping the most destructive weapon in the history of war on a city
filled with innocent civilians (Pavlik 1995). In 1939, President Franklin D. Roosevelt received a letter
from Albert Einstein. In this letter, Einstein outlined a new field of physics in which the element
uranium could undergo nuclear fission, releasing an incredible amount of energy (Katayma, n.d).
Einstein stressed the military importance of this new field of study, as Germany seemed to be on the
verge of similar discoveries. He described the probability that a sustained nuclear reaction could be
produced and the possibility of the construction of extremely powerful bombs (The Manhattan
Project, 2014). Upon hearing this information, Roosevelt created a committee of American scientists

Essay On Plutarch s Ides Of March
This essay will examine the events of the Ides of March, recreated within Shakespeare s modern play
Julius Caesar. The Ides of March in this essay refers to the day of Caesar s death 15th March 44 BCE.
Shakespeare depicts this event in depth, and over the course of multiple scenes within Julius Caesar.
This essay will primarily focus on Plutarch s Lives of the Noble Greeks and Romans: The Life of
Julius Caesar as an ancient source, as it was the primary text which Shakespeare drew from, as well as
being prominent in the Elizabethan public consciousness at the time of performance Plutarch s Lives
had only been recently translated in 1579 by Sir Thomas North. (Honigmann 1959, p.25)

In Plutarch s Brutus, Plutarch states that although the conspirators were fond of Cicero they feared that
the caution... combined with his natural timidity... and his habit of calculating all the details of every
enterprise... would blunt the edge of their ardour at a crisis which demanded speed. (Plutarch Life of
Brutus, 12.2) The conspirators leave Cicero out because they believe that he will slow their time
sensitive plans down and thus they leave him out of their plans. However, in Shakespeare s recreation,
Cicero is first suggested by Cassius and vouched for by Caska, Cinna, and Metellus. It is Brutus who
disagrees, stating that ...he will never follow any thing that other men begin. (Shakespeare Julius
Caesar, 2.1.151 2). This change is a prominent one, especially as Shakespeare often follows Plutarch s
works diligently. Honigmann suggests that Shakespeare wanted to highlight the determination of
Brutus to be the sole, undisputed leader of the conspirators (Honigmann 1959, p.30). It also
establishes the conspirators as a younger group, as Cicero is the only one described with silver hairs
(Shakespeare Julius Caesar, 2.1.145). By excluding Cicero they also exclude a potentially valuable
member Cicero is said to be wise and of good opinion (Shakespeare Julius Caesar, 2.1.146) his skills
as an orator will help sway the people to their cause. Nevertheless, Brutus refuses, and the others

The Beauty Of The Garment Essay
Cool in Costume
The definition of cool is dependent on unique characteristics that allows something to stand out from
the mainstream fads of modern society. Characteristics, including the novelty, the design, the function,
and the overall appeal, are what makes something cool to us, the consumers, and it is these
characteristics that are most evident in trends related to clothing and fashion. Clothing functions as not
only a social necessity, but also a versatile mean of self expression and cultural identity. The beauty of
the garment has caught the eye of many modern designers who incorporate the traditional aspects of
the Cheongsam, also known as the qipao , into contemporary designs. Designers have created works
art with the Cheongsam that have caught the attention of individuals in Shanghai and Hong Kong who
are fascinated by contemporary stylistic aspect of Chinese fashion in the 21st century, revitalizing the
Cheongsam into a garment that has both cultural significance and artistic relevance for its wearer and
beholder. Therefore, the purpose of this rhetorical analysis is to discuss and analyze how the people in
21st century Shanghai and Hong Kong regard Chinese garment as cool and the characteristics that
make it cool . There were many traditional fashion styles established during the dynasties eras in
Chinese history, but the Cheongsam is the only garment that is still prominently worn in modern
society in Shanghai and Hong Kong. The Cheongsam was first

three and nine months, Greek Orthodox infants are baptized. This means that the infant is dipped in

the ceremony, the child is also given a baptismal name. If they already have the name of a Greek saint

way that spread Christianity was the practice of Evangelism; created by Paul, one of Jesus followers,

Paul also spread his teachings to Gentiles, who are non Jews. These strategies helped spread

It all started back in the fifties when James Watson and Francis Crick discovered the structure of DNA

and basically impossible, but in 1997 that all changed when a sheep, named Dolly, was the first ever

The subject of animal cloning has provoked debate about the ethics of interfering with nature as well
as about the danger of using laboratory means to accomplish what habitat preservation and other
conservation measures cannot (Gugliotta A3). Now there is talk that they are going to start cloning
animals that have been extinct from ten to thousands of years ago. Scientists are contemplating the
possibility of cloning a 20,000 year old woolly mammoth from a block of ice in northern Siberia and
are planning to use an elephant for it is surrogate mother (Gugliotta A3). This is just crazy, I don t
think that I need to remind every one of the movie Jurassic Park. Do we want to move into a world of
genetically engineered animals? I definitely do not; these animals became extinct for a reason and who
are we to say that it is time for them to roam to earth again?
Another type of cloning that is now being investigated is the use of biotechnology to help infertile
couples have children. Even Ian Wilmut, the scientist who cloned Dolly and has come out publicly
against human cloning, was not trying to help sheep have genetically related children (Thomas 47).
This technique to impregnate infertile couples is basically the same that they are using on the animals.

The Strengths and Weaknesses of the Sociocultural Perspective
Psychology is one of the newest sciences. Because it is the science of the mind and behavior, it is also
less concrete than some of the other sciences. Over the years, social scientists have developed theories
or perspectives based off of their observations, research, and the perspectives of other scientists.
Although there is some overlap, each of the major perspectives of psychology is unique. As a result,
they each have strengths and weaknesses and explain psychology in a different way. One theory, the
sociocultural perspective, is exactly what its name suggests. It s the idea that the society and groups
that an individual belongs to are what influences development, thoughts, and behavior. The
sociocultural perspective was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Language is one of the most recognizable tools but some tools are more subtle. For example,
technology is a tool in western society that less industrialized societies aren t exposed to. An
individual that has grown up with complete access to all the latest technology is going to think

ways of thinking can only be caused by exposer to specific social and cultural contexts, as this
perspective explains. A second strength of the sociocultural perspective is the emphasis on the role of
adults in childhood cognitive development through guided participation. Vygotsky introduced the idea
that children learn in a zone of proximal development. Meaning the distance between what an
individual can do alone and what they can do with guidance and assistance from a capable member of
society (Mcleod, 2010). Any skills outside the zone would be already mastered or still too difficult to

Essay about Production Report on Thriller Film
Production Report on Thriller Film
For my production unit, I chose Brief 1: Thriller Film. This is due to my interest in them and the
confidence I have in producing my own, which I found from GCSE television advertising work and in
my ability to deconstruct existing films.
In order to fulfil my brief successfully, I had to perform several areas of research, which will make the
product look like products in real life and show that I know and can use the appropriate codes and
conventions. I also watched a non Hollywood film, the French film La Haine . Comparing the two
different sorts of films, emphasised the codes and conventions that I needed to use for my classic
Hollywood film. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was done by putting key objects or people in the vanishing point and a lot of use of doors to show
the many possibilities.
Another method of research was to find an audience s opinion, by creating and distributing a
questionnaire. The questions were based on thriller film viewing and possibilities for a new thriller
film. I asked ten people to fill it in and collated the results in order to find out what film viewers want
from a film. I found out that people enjoy thriller films because they are very different to other film
genres and they enjoy the suspense, that psychological thriller films are popular, that completely
original narratives are preferred, which are realistic. That a fast editing pace and limited action and
violence is important in a thriller film. A film on child abduction, as this is a particularly topical
subject in the news at the moment, with a male and female hero/ine team would be popular. This
means that my idea for the narrative of the film would be popular if it was made and released and that
the film would have lots of suspense but little action or violence.
This gives me a firm idea of what my film must contain in order to fulfil the genre and be popular.
Planning
My film is about a divorced father who has his child taken away from him by its mother. His love for
this girl and his despair at

  • 11. Analysis Of The Movie Monty Python And The Holy Grail In class, we watched the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail . This movie is set in the time of the middle ages (roughly 476 1453). It follows King Arthur and his knights as they search for the Holy Grail. They look for the Holy Grail after they are told to by God. The movie at first may seem like nonsense and a silly parody, but in reality, Monty Python and the Holy Grail demonstrates the truth of the Middle Ages, feudal hierarchy, and other topics we have discussed in class. In the Middle Ages, the Church was one of the most powerful forces. It was a very important part of the people s culture and was a unifying force for them. It gave people a common belief, protection and a sense of safety in a time of war. Many people relied on it to receive sacraments and go to heaven, especially peasants because that was about all they had going for them. The Church and it s matters were taken seriously and they maintained power throughout the Middle Ages. In the movie, the power of the church is shown in many scenes. For example, in the scene where King Arthur and his knights are trying to get into the cave but the rabbit is stopping them, they call in the priests to give them the Holy Hand Grenade . The priests take it very seriously and tell Arthur very specific instructions for it. He activates it and blows up the rabbit they are able to enter the cave. This shows that they believed that the church and God had the most power and the power to do anything. In a time of need, they turned to the Church. The feudal system was the method of government that was used in the Middle Ages. The feudal pyramid consisted of four levels, King at the top, Church Official and Nobles/Lords next, then Knights, and peasants at the bottom. The King had the most power, the nobles were sometimes vassals to the king, knights fought in the king s army, and peasants worked in the field all day and were very poor. In one scene of the movie, peasants are seen working in the fields. They are very dirty and have bad quality clothing which shows how little money and power they had compared to King Arthur, who had fancy clothing and did not have to work. King Arthur then asks the peasants who their lord is, which shows how lords or vassals ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Innocent Man covers almost every detail regarding the victims lives, the suspects lives, the backstories of the families, the in depth details of mental health, the judicial system, and more you can probably think of. I recommend The Innocent Man to anyone who loves to learn about Crime, Lawyers, and the exposing of corruption and bad police work. The Innocent Man is about 2 men who were wrongly convicted of a crime they obviously didn t commit. Debra Sue Carter, 22, was found murdered and raped in her apartment. She died of asphyxiation. Hair and Semen was left behind by the killer. The Detectives found Ron Williamson and accused him of the crime. • 18. Symbolism In The Invisible Man 1. The chief difference between Wyeth s painting and Wall s photography is that the former acts as a complement to aid the readers understanding of the general story, while the latter acts as that of the protagonists life, in the point of view of the protagonist (in this case,) himself. As the text says, the former, though more popular than the text itself, becomes less meaningful without the original documents, because the synthesis of the Literature and the illustration is what provides the readers with the full experience of the book to imagine and be entertained by a story that does not usually happen (393). To go further, the reader cannot live in it; the reader can only use it as to help one s imagination/experience of the said fiction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I generally agree with the comments of the MoMA s critique that Wall opened an entirely new way of illustration, in that Wall s approach was so inviting to the audience. The focal point of the picture is to the protagonist of the novel, the Invisible Man , and such emphasis does draw some eyes to the protagonist. However, at the same time, the whole picture is overwhelmed by the number of the lightbulbs above the man. Though everything is in real life sizes, the amount of the lightbulbs acts as a hyperbole, as the text suggests (394). Such override of the focus provides the audiences with more depth of cognition of the situation, and many times, it is not frequently possible in two dimensional settings, such as (comparatively) plain illustrations like those of Wyeth. In that sense, I think Wall s photography has opened a new way of the illustration. However, at the same time, I think his brilliancy is solely due to his use of the medium of photography. In other words, I think his only contribution to the illustration industry is the use of the film, which conveys different sets of images and cognition. Films could always do that, and perhaps thousands of the photographers have used such techniques in their work; there is nothing new about the technique itself. So the only difference Wall made was his synthesis of the film and the Literature to illustrate that specific ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Negotiations happen when there is a wide gap between two or more parties interests and targets. Evolution Of Flight Research Paper Flight is a very complex function, and in order to develop into what we know now as birds, there are several major evolutionary changes that needed to develop to maturity. In order for fly, the skeletal structure, musculature, respiratory system, circulatory systems, and feathers must all be adapted to allow for an organism to take flight. Many scientists have proposed theories about the origin of flight, but the Arboreal and Cursorial theories have emerged as the strongest cases. Arboreal theories are based around the idea that the organisms climbing into trees jump out of those trees and glide down, eventually adapted to flap to increase drag. This theory is based in the skeletal similarities of gliding animals to those of birds.1 This tree hopping evolution hypothesis is supported by Archaeopteryx, one of the prime examples of a transitional animal for flight. While that may be effective in stopping the misrepresentation, that line of thinking will not solve the problem. One solution would be to further educate straight writers on how to write queer characters, and the dangers of mishandling them. Most non queer authors have wonderful intentions of being inclusive, but their works fall short because of the unfamiliarity with the subject matter. A better solution would be to provide an efficient platform for queer voices to write about their own experiences and communities. Queer authors should be promoted better so their work is seen rather than cast off to the side for what straight audiences find appealing in terms of seeing onscreen gay characters. And this includes queer women and trans people who are so often overlooked, even within the queer literature community. Gay male characters have a grip on the queer scene, largely influenced by straight female audiences who have no idea of the harm they cause to actual gay ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Reasons For The French Revolution There were many causes that led to the French Revolution. Class, money, and philosophes were three major factors that contributed to the French Revolution. The most important cause was money. These factors resulted in Louis The Sixteenth and Marie Antoinette being executed, and the reign of Napoleon to begin. Class conflicts are a huge component of the French Revolution. The French Revolution began as a result of the lack of the people s happiness over how they were told to live their lives. There were three estates. The first estate being the clergy, the second estate being the nobility, and the third estate being the bourgeoisie (commoners). The first and second estate consisted of very few people, but was given most of the money, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the first and second estate voted that the bourgeoisie should pay all the taxes, the bourgeoisies was outvoted and was forced to keep paying all of the taxes. The nobility and clergy were very greedy, especially the clergy. Their morals were supposed to be more focused on the word of god, instead of being focused on the material aspects of life on Earth. The clergy was supposed to be kind and helpful, instead of selfish. Since the clergy was greedy, it lead France to be in even more debt and have more conflicts. There were many privileges only given to the upper classes, which made it unfair. At the beginning of the French Revolution, the bourgeoisie became very fed up with the inequalities within the classes. To deal with the inequalities, the estates decided to gather in the tennis courts and take an oath called the Tennis court Oath. The Tennis court Oath stated that they would not leave until a new constitution was created. In the end, a new constitution was created and a new form of government was put into place. The new government was called the national assembly. The national assembly lasted from 1789 1799 but was then abolished as it upset many people in France because the priorities of the National Assemblies decisions did not meet the people s needs. Money was also a major factor to the French Revolution. Once Louis The Sixteenth and Marie Antoinette became absolute monarchs in 1774, they lavishly spent money. The couple ... I was bothered by the author s findings that Wal Mart caters to the lower income families. They offer inexpensive food items loaded with calories and very little nutritional value and clothes that are cheaply made and designed to fit overweight people. Much of the food available to low income people is loaded with empty calories, which leads to obesity, however, their physical appearance become less important than food in their belly and a roof over their head. Even Barbara, making 7 dollars an hour at Wal Mart, seeks help from a charitable agency. They prove unable to help her yet they load her up with a stack of sugary and unhealthy food items. People who have limited budgets and are in poor health still require their needs to be met. I think it is wonderful that Wal Mart caters to these customers. The Bombing Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki Bombing of Hiroshima On August 8th 1945 the first atomic weapon, a fission bomb, was dropped on the city of Hiroshima in an attempt to force the Japanese to surrender in World War II (Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, 2009). This event exposed the danger of nuclear energy. This massive explosion demolished 90 percent of the city and immediately killed 80,000 people. This was only the beginning though, tens of thousands of innocent people died due to the aftermath of radiation exposure for another generation (Rosenberg, n.d). This day marks one of the most controversial in history. While some argue that Truman s decision to drop the bomb was in America s best interest, others question the ethics of dropping the most destructive weapon in the history of war on a city filled with innocent civilians (Pavlik 1995). In 1939, President Franklin D. Roosevelt received a letter from Albert Einstein. In this letter, Einstein outlined a new field of physics in which the element uranium could undergo nuclear fission, releasing an incredible amount of energy (Katayma, n.d). Einstein stressed the military importance of this new field of study, as Germany seemed to be on the verge of similar discoveries. He described the probability that a sustained nuclear reaction could be produced and the possibility of the construction of extremely powerful bombs (The Manhattan Project, 2014). (Plutarch Life of Brutus, 12.2) The conspirators leave Cicero out because they believe that he will slow their time sensitive plans down and thus they leave him out of their plans. However, in Shakespeare s recreation, Cicero is first suggested by Cassius and vouched for by Caska, Cinna, and Metellus. It is Brutus who disagrees, stating that ...he will never follow any thing that other men begin. (Shakespeare Julius Caesar, 2.1.151 2). This change is a prominent one, especially as Shakespeare often follows Plutarch s works diligently. Honigmann suggests that Shakespeare wanted to highlight the determination of Brutus to be the sole, undisputed leader of the conspirators (Honigmann 1959, p.30). It also establishes the conspirators as a younger group, as Cicero is the only one described with silver hairs (Shakespeare Julius Caesar, 2.1.145). Characteristics, including the novelty, the design, the function, and the overall appeal, are what makes something cool to us, the consumers, and it is these characteristics that are most evident in trends related to clothing and fashion. Clothing functions as not only a social necessity, but also a versatile mean of self expression and cultural identity.
