Being Sugar Ray by Kenneth Shropshire is a fantastic book for sport fans and especially fans of
boxing. If you are not into sports, much less boxing, then this book may be hard to get into and may
drag on throughout. This book is a biography about Sugar Ray. It explains his life from beginning to
end. I loved Being Sugar Ray and think it is an absolute great book because of it being motivational
and inspiring throughout.

When he was young, many people tried to stop him from boxing, but Robinson did not listen to them.
When Robinson started fighting top tier boxers, many people started doubting him and thought he
wouldn t make it. He overcame this and fought to the top. I loved it because it was an inspirational
story. It explained how he grew up from living in poverty in Detroit, to making millions and being
known from all over the world. In the book Shropshire said, Robinson dreamed of being a champ, but
most black men of the day were simply striving to make life better (Shropshire 24). This shows how
he was discriminated against for being an African American and couldn t get the privileges he wanted.
Despite the racial discrimination against him, he set out to follow his dreams. He was introduced to
boxing when he was 7 years old, and he started boxing by 1936 when he was 15. By the time he was
19, he had a professional record. He retired in 1952, only to come back three years later and regain his
title. By the time he died from diabetes, he had a record of 128 1 2. He had the best record of anyone
in the league.
Sugar Ray Robinson was the best boxer in history. Robinson won the Golden Glove Award in 1939
and 1940 and also won the world middleweight title 5 times, all within 7 years. He didn t just box, he

The catalyst of this whole story was when Catherine got bitten by a dog at Thrushcross Grove and was
forced to remain there. She returned home to Wuthering Heights a changed woman. No longer the
mischievous little girl that loved to get in trouble with Heathcliff, she was a polite young lady

Catherine go to Thrushcross Grange, the time immediately after she returns, and life after she marries

formed a tight bond only days after Heathcliff arrived at Wuthering Heights, much to the dismay of
Catherine s brother Hindley. Heathcliff found a way into both Catherine and Mr. Earnshaw s hearts, a
relationship that only grew stronger after the death of Mr. Earnshaw. It got to be that Hindley, his wife
Frances, and the staff at Wuthering Heights would purposefully keep the two young children separated
to lessen their shenanigans. One colorful story recounted by Nelly was when they were punished and
forced to read classical books. Both Heathcliff and Catherine refused to do as they were told and
disrespectfully threw the books to the ground. No matter how harsh their punishment was, as soon as
they were together they were once again plainning some other devious plot.

good of my country, by advancing our trade, providing for infant s, relieving the poor, and giving

family has to be obedient, respectful, and mindful of the head of the home, which is played by the
