My mom picked me up at four thirty on September 30th, a Thursday. Four Thirty, way earlier than
usual. Dressed in blue jeans and sweater, this was not her work attire. Perhaps she just had one of
those awful migraines she gets at least once a month. Walking through the burnt orange leaves my

3. What Is The Final Chapter Of Nickel And Dimed
The final chapter of Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich, Evaluation , states about low income
families being almost invisible to the mid to high income families. This observation is valid because
walking around places, Walmart, Kmart, etc., a person cannot distinguish what class the person is in.
Poorer families are also rarely portrayed on television or other forms of entertainment, unless the
show is about people getting arrested, since most people only find higher class, comfortable people
interesting. Also, everything in society is unequal, a person can sit at a desk and order people around
all day, without moving, and earn a salary of at least $60,000, while the individual or individuals who
get stuck with all of his work, are getting paid around $25,000 a year. Yes, everyone starts out at a low
on the totem pole job at a company and they work their way up the food chain to get to the job they
want, but the lower class gets deemed lazy and or a high school dropout if they are seen waiting tables
or working at a fast food place or retail store past the age of 25 30. Just because they are working
twice as hard as the executives and other people higher up in society, and get paid twice to three times
less than them, does not mean they lack normal human emotions. ... Show more content on

Walking around stores such as Walmart, people watching is a very common activity. Everyone has
participated in the activity at least once before, even subconsciously. Walmart is the type of store

Every business should have some unique features that constitute its aims. There are some features that
I think every company should have...
1.Good business skills: By this, I mean that shareholders, board of directors, CEOs, managers in the
company should have experience and knowledge on how to run a business. Not every person can run a

will benefit the business.

but on how to help society. Although making money is the motivation that keeps a company going but

Introduction A goal of President Barack Obama s Educate to Innovate initiative in 2008 was to
increase the contributions of underrepresented minority (URM) students in science, technology,
engineering, and mathematics (STEM) (White House, 2009). Notably, in the context of the United

Hispanics will comprise 30 percent of the U.S. population by 2040 and the majority demographic
group in several states (United States Census, 2008). Thus, the need to encourage and support
innovation and competitiveness in STEM participation is important, especially for Hispanic students,
who are significantly underrepresented. In 2009, Hispanics represented 16 percent of the U. S.
population and 26 percent of all undergraduate enrollments, but they earned just 11.9 percent of
STEM bachelor s degrees in that year (National Science Foundation (NSF), 2010). In terms of STEM

Tuning mechanical properties of graphene with Stone Thrower Wales defects A molecular dynamics
study
G. Rajasekaran and Avinash Parashar Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Indian
Institute of Technology, Roorkee 247667, India
HIGHLIGHTS
ABSTRACT
Structural defects which are inevitable during the production, chemical and heat treatment processes
can affect the mechanical properties of graphene and also defects can be deliberately introduced in
graphene by ion beam irradiation to get required properties for specific applications. So,
understanding the effect of defects on mechanical properties and failure behaviours of a graphene
sheet is important for its applications. In this work, the effects of linear and angular orientation of
different types of Stone Thrower Wales (STW 1 and STW 2) defects on the mechanical properties and
failure behaviour of graphene membrane have been investigated in the frame of molecular dynamics.
This work discussing about tuneable mechanical properties by amending the linear orientation of STW
1 and STW 2 defects at different angles in zigzag direction and armchair direction respectively. The
results obtained from the present work may provide the insights in tailoring the mechanical properties
by preparing defects in graphene, and give a full picture for the applications of graphene with defects
in flexible electronics and nanodevices.

16. The Influence Of Social Classes In Renaissance Europe
There were three social classes during the renaissance people are to be a part of; citizens, poor people
and government. Your class would be chosen by your job, money, and if you were under government
power. The only job poor people had were working on farms. They were not able to leave the area that
they worked on. They dressed simple, and ate lots of bread and other simple foods. The poor people
had very tiny homes with a maximum of four bedrooms. As long as they had a roof over their head
they were satisfied. Citizens were the ones who weren t farmers, they had tons of free time and loved
telling their friends stories. They had money to eat expensive foods, and they loved to go on family
trips together. They also loved bread and ate tons of bread. If you were considered a French citizen
you ate nothing but tons of soup. The government was filled with rich people; their houses were small
palaces. They would go to bug dinners and eat tons of food like soups, wines and meats. The most

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle utilizes many detail oriented literary elements to develop the many adventures
of the famous fictional British detective Sherlock Holmes and his partner, John Watson. Long winded
description and complex vocabulary are infused into Doyle s writing to accentuate Holmes s great
intelligence. By incorporating such a heavy, educated tone upon the mysteries, the tales of Sherlock
Holmes are expressed as very complicated stories that challenge readers in comprehension as well as
encourage curiosity through puzzling cases. One of the most important literary features of Doyle s
works is the use of dialogue and conversations held between characters, whether it be Holmes,

Another factor to consider is how Holmes is written to be asking Watson even though he understands
that Watson is not on the same page. This curious occurrence in the interactions between Holmes and
Watson may also elevate the status Holmes imposes on the text and to the readers.
Not only can the dialogue bring life to the story, but it can tell the story itself, as seen in many
instances in which Holmes has wrapped up another mystery. Most cases are concluded with a
recollection of events and revealing hints that only Holmes knew of, presented almost
conversationally from Holmes to Watson. With his first person account of the mystery, Doyle uses
Holmes to clarify any remaining confusion or questions that linger in readers minds as the chapter
ends. While it is repetitive after several cases, granting Holmes with such large chunks of dialogue
eliminates the need for boring, lengthy straight forward narration. A good example of the use of
retelling in dialogue in place for narration can be found in The Red Headed League. A combination of
complex writing and sophisticated vocabulary also follow the genius detectives mysteries and help to
represent his intelligence through Doyle s skillful work. Each story is written with extensive
vocabulary as well as depth, which also alludes/attributes to Holmes himself. Therefore, Doyle was
careful to ensure that the professional nature of Holmes was also conveyed

Project aims and significance
Intimate partner violence (IPV) has been recognised as an issue which needs to be addressed due to its
negative consequences on health of individuals. The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines
Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) as any act between intimate relations which results into physical,
emotional, sexual trauma or any other form of restriction or isolation from family and friends which
can lead to undesirable health outcomes (Organization, 2012). Violence do exists between intimate

In Victoria, it had accounted for 7.9% of overall disease burden among women of reproductive age

Tom Brady went to Michigan to play football and he was not the best. He got drafted by the New
England Patriots with the 199th pick of the 6th round for the 2000 NFL Draft. Tom Brady is easily the
best with that late of a pick. After that, Brady has had no season with a win percentage below 50%.
Tom Brady has dominated in the NFL ever since he has been drafted. When you look at Tom Brady s
career stats, you won t see any season that really pops out. This is because every season was a monster
season. Well, not in 2008 because he was injured but other than that, he is a very elite
22. The Waste Disposal Of The Chesapeake Bay
As humanity continues to prosper agriculturally, industrially, and in population, companies, as well as
local communities, have obsessively used the Ocean to toss their waste without consequences. The
formation of dead zones has been intensified by the increase runoff of fertilizers and the burning of
fossil fuels. Enhanced primary production causes algae to bloom at a constant rate creating a layer
near the surface. This layer acts as a roof to vegetation below resulting in a lack of oxygen which
organisms use to live. According to Robert Diaz and Rutger Rosenberg, Dead zones have now been
reported from more than 400 systems, affecting a total area of more than 245,000 square kilometers,
and are probably a key stressor on marine ecosystems. Specifically, the Chesapeake Bay has been
polluted to the point where areas have now been uninhabitable to marine life. Although waste disposal
is a difficult issue to solve, polluting bodies of water endangers the marine life, environment, and
health of organisms. While the Earth s surface is seventy percent covered in water, countries are
reliant on the Ocean s vegetation, marine life and resources. By eliminating those factors from coastal
countries, many communities will suffer economically and culturally. Specifically, countries that
catch, sell or eat seafood will have to exchange their lifestyle to meet their need for food and money in
order to survive. Ultimately, drinking water is not obtained through salt water from oceans

23. Diversity Paper
Diversity Behavior is best defined as the unique behaviors, emotions and thought processes of an
individual including the way that he or she interacts with others. While much of behavior may be
thought to be innate, there are also external factors that can impact an individual s behavior. These
factors have diversity and demographic characteristics; four of these factors will be discussed in this
paper and the impact each has on individuals will be shown. Religion, personality traits, age and
gender are thought to have the greatest impacts and therefore providing the best opportunity for
discussion.
Religion
Since the beginning of documented history individuals have held strong to their religious beliefs and

become the source of ridicule or even forced to live in separate communities where they can practice

Personality Traits Personality can be defined as patterns of a person s thoughts, feelings and behaviors
in various situations. In its most basic form personality is attitude, values and interests. Personality
traits can also be known as behavioral differences. Understanding and appreciating the diverse
personalities of others can help people to interact and know why one person might act or respond in a
certain way. This appreciation of personality diversity gives respect to the quirks and differences of
individuals therefore respecting these differences as strengths. A person s personality traits develop for
various reasons. These reasons can stem from the interactions of an individual with the environment
along with biological influences. These environmental influences can be living during segregated
times, being reared in a single parent family along with living in a household with an income below
the poverty level. Each of these environmental influences could lead an individual to harbor negative
feelings for those of other races or feel a sense of longing to fit in. Having a group consisting of
individuals from diverse backgrounds working

Michael, within the family, was able to develop interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships with the

school age, so he taught Michael to find beauty in the little things in life and to find the fun. Just as the
children taught Michael, so did Leigh Anne and her husband. They taught Michael the importance of
teamwork and that if he wanted to succeed in life that he could no longer go through life alone. He
would have to reach out to people and ask for help. Through these intrapersonal and interpersonal

I do not remember exactly when I first started watching Home Family on the Hallmark Channel, but
once I discovered the incredible and diverse content they produced on a daily basis, it quickly became
my favorite daytime talk show. From the first season, Orly Shani has been an essential part of this
show, and I had a splendid time chatting with her recently. As a fashion designer, a DIY expert, and a
mother of two active little ones, Orly is the epitome of the contemporary woman who can inherently
do it all! And do it thoroughly with her own flair!

many cast members on Home Family.

lessons to unlearn. DIY for me was a solution. I didn t have any technical ability to make something

work? Then I would make it, and I would be like, Holy cow, it does work! So a lot of these projects
were out of necessity. I had to figure out how to make these things because I didn t know the proper
technique, which I now think was a blessing. Maybe if I had gone to school, my mind wouldn t have
been as open to trying unconventional solutions. I might have just done it the way I was

27. Why Animals Die Is Vital For Understand The Population
Summary
Statistics regarding The time and place of when Animals die is vital to understand the population
pronouncement. During migratory periods like winter, breeding, and also during migratory, the when
and where animals die is important for us to understand population regulations. In migratory animals,
mortality may prevail not only during the stationary periods but can also happen during the
migrational seasons. But, the relative significance of population limiting factors during different
periods of the year remains poorly understood, and previous studies mainly relied on indirect
evidence.
Here, we provide direct evidence about when and where migrants die by identifying cases of
confirmed and probable deaths in three species of long distance migratory raptors tracked by satellite
telemetry.
We show that mortality rate was about six times higher during migration seasons than during
stationary periods. However, total mortality was surprisingly similar between periods, which can be
explained by the fact that risky migration periods are shorter than safer stationary periods.
Nevertheless, more than half of the annual mortality occurred during migration. We also found
spatiotemporal patterns in mortality: spring mortality occurred mainly in Africa in association with the
crossing of the Sahara desert, while most mortality during autumn took place in Europe.
Our results strongly suggest that events during the migration seasons have an important impact on the
population

28. MFA Thesis Exhibition
Last week I visited the George Caleb Bingham Gallery to see an artist s work. Her name was Mary
Margaret Sandbothe and her collection of art was at the MFA Thesis Exhibition. Now, I am not one for
looking at art and being able to interpret it easily, but when I arrived to see her work I was pleasantly
surprised. I was in awe of artwork at first glance.
First, what I noticed was that the main overlook of all her pieces included same sex relationships or
couples. Furthermore, it exemplified families with same sex parents. For example, there was one piece
that had presented two dads with an African American child. This shows the reality of what the world
is like today. People don t want to accept change, but she is putting it out there ... Show more content

One piece presents two men lying on a blanket in a park enjoying the day outside. Normally, all
couples do this. Now, the society we live in people would look at this like it was uncommon, but
slowly people are starting to accept this as the norm. The other piece shown is two men sitting at a
table with their son seemingly helping him with his homework like a happy family. Yes, she is
presenting how families do work with same sex marriages if you are open to it. At least that is what I
see in my opinion.
Lastly, she had another piece of two men looking marry while holding a newborn baby. This could
possibly mean that they had adopted or fostered a child. It s a beautiful sight because they are so
happy and blessed to have this baby in their life. Again, Sandbothe is prominently making a statement
here about our society and its view on same sex relationships.
Now, with that being said, she had many pieces presented in her work at this exhibit and I found it
very intriguing how bold she was. She is not only speaking for the LGBT community, but also
speaking to our society and how we should be more accepting of change. The world is continuously
evolving and we must not sit back and expect it to go back to the way it was. We must embrace

Pope Benedict XI Efforts to End War I
Pope Benedict XI must be one of the greatest Papal ever. At the time of his leadership it was a moment
great quest by Christians in Europe and the world to get someone with divine prophetic call to shape
the end of the war I. Pope Benedict XI is hailed as having had great desire to help Europe stop carnage
and destruction of innocent lives and property. He must have used his gifted voice to call for warring
nation to make peace by use of peaceful means such as diplomacy and treats that could define the
disputed boundaries and territories. Off course, war I was majorly caused by unlawful annexation of
territories and lack of humanity.

31. Renaissance Ideals of Humanism Are Expressed in the...
Discuss how Renaissance ideals of humanism are expressed in the Italian art of the period, referring to
specific works and artists. During the fourteenth century Italy witnessed notable changes, which
throughout the next couple of centuries extended towards northern Europe. This was later described as
the Renaissance , the cultural achievements through sixteenth centuries; those achievements rest on
the economic and political developments of earlier centuries . (Western Society, 413) This was an era
in which Europe emerged from the economic downfall of the Middle Ages and was followed by a time
of financial growth, later leading to the Renaissance. But also, most importantly, the Renaissance was

On the other hand, the creation of the Vitruvian man clearly shows humanists shifted intellectual
emphasis off of theology and logic to specifically human studies . The development of this figure is a
clear representation of the interest of architectures such as Da Vinci in exploring the human body
rather than educating based on theology. Another significantly important artist of the Italian
renaissance who expresses the ideals of humanism is Michelangelo Buonarroti in his piece The David
. The giant 17 feet tall sculpture, or contrapposto of David initially started by another artist who was
biblically intended to represent a young shepherd who defended the city from the Goliath. However,
abandoned and later rescued by Michelangelo, the sculpture s message innovated to represent the
strength and divinity of the man. The Renaissance ideals of humanism were expressed in the physical
and psychological balance of the piece. (en.wikipedia.org) The art piece of David shows the physical
strength of a man somehow by exaggerating some features such as the hands. However, his face
shows divinity and dignity of humanity, Michelangelo captures the human emotions of confidence,
determination, and hope in the face of David. (en.wikipedia.org) He demonstrates his own view of the
human form, Michelangelo s David seems to encapsulate his dualistic view, that however noble the
human body may be, it

32. Broken Voting System
The topic of the United States of America and the broken voting systems within is quite an extensive
one, as well as one that deserves to be covered in much more depth and detail than a simple
essay/speech can give. Although, on that note, I shall attempt to consolidate and deliver some of the
many details on why this system is so broken, as well as why it should be fixed, and some proposed
ways of doing so. First, I shall cover the topic of why the system doesn t work and the many flaws that
riddle the topic. Soon following, I shall describe to you some of the many proposed methods to fixing
the issues. The first of the many issues that I would like to bring attention to in our current voting
system is how little our individuals votes effect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gerrymandering comes in many forms, but does nothing except hurt the current voting system. The
best way to explain this is through example, so here goes. *In this image, the blue circles represent
party A voters, and the red squares represent party B voters. The bold lines represent districts, created
by the redistricting that occurs during every census, which are defined by the state legislative system.
These lines can be manipulated in many ways, often creating a result that does not reflect the vast
majority of citizen s views. In this example, there are a required three districts. They are manipulated
to cause a two to one victory, wasting all of the Party A votes and ensuring Party B a victory despite
them having two thirds as many supporters. This is just one of the many forms of Gerrymandering.
These two parameters alone tell us this: The population s voting and choices can be manipulated to the
point that, in a four way election, over 70% of the population can prefer one winner, but another can
still take the victory themselves. Our individual votes are very easily wasted and abused to make our
preferred winner lose. Our votes are combined and sent forward, and that is the first problem. We vote
within our states, not directly. If we voted directly to the final ballot, every single citizen s vote will
count fully and completely to the final result. Thus, this leads to the common propositions

33. Thank You For Being Expandable Essay
Do you think it s right for people who have PTSD to not be treated immediately? I think especially for
veterans, yes because making them wait hours and hours or even weeks and weeks just to see the
doctor is just too much. More should be done to improve current treatment for sufferers of PTSD. We
should be grateful for what the veterans have done for us. It s sad that veterans can t just walk into a
hospital and get treated.
To start off if a veteran calls the V.A. it s because that person is in bad condition. So therefore, when
they call to make an appointment or to come in to see the doctor they should get treated quickly. In the
story Thank You for Being Expandable a man had returned for the Iraq war and he started to have
thoughts of killing himself and so he tried to call the V.A. to get him some help. But all they did was
put him on hold. So he said, In my experience, the wait for an appointment was typically eight to ten
weeks, but sometimes as long as three to four months. Either way he tried he couldn t win because
whether he came in person or not he still had to wait a long time. But he also had to make sure that
when he did get to talk to the doctor he was really precise with what he said. So if for example the
doctor asked him how much pain he was in on a scale of 1 10 he would have to say at least a 10, so
that the doctor would take him in right away ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

INTRODUCTION1 4
Nifedipine is calcium channel blocker widely used clinically, in the treatment of cardiovascular
disorders, including hypertension and angina pectoris.1. It has poor aqueous solubility, resulting in

solubility and rapid absorption from the gastrointestinal tract leads to its classification into class II of

important factor responsible for the proliferation of pelletized products is the popularity of controlled

agent at a specific site within the GIT or to sustain the action of drugs over an extended period of time.
While these results have been traditionally achieved through the application of a functional coating
material, at times the core pellets themselves have been modified to provide the desired effect. This
