Alice Cooper Contributions
Lorna was a very accomplished woman but her biggest accomplishments was in 1962. She received
the Phoenix Professional Woman of the Year; in 1965 she received the Southern Pacific Coast Region
of Hadassah Humanitarian Award. Lorna was a women who took matters into her own hands and
showed the people in Arizona that woman can do anything they set their mind too. Lorna is a woman
with lots of courage and respect here in Arizona. Another man who was artistically influential that was
in Arizona was a star named Alice Cooper. Alice moved to Arizona from Detroit in the 1960 s. He
went to Cortez High School, and he now currently lives in Paradise Valley. Alice Cooper was a hard
core Rock and Roll artist. Over the course of Cooper s career he has sold more than 50 million
records. One of Alice s most well known song is School s out and I m Eighteen . His music did not
skyrocket until the late 60 s early 70 s. He was famous because his music was indifferent from all of
the other stars that compete alongside him. There were many Rock and Roll stars that had concerts
and shows just as Alice did, but he did it a little more different. Alice s performance in his concerts
were scary and loud. He wanted to be an artist that sang Rock n Roll, but he wanted to put a more gore
spin on his style. He wanted to have gore and scare into his concerts. His music was a blend of
metallic style and pop blends. Many people went to see him because he was different and gorey. He

Essay On Moment Of Self Discovery
My moment of self discovery was a coincidence. It was August 13th and it occurred right after my
shift was over in Burger King. It started when I was going to Liberty bell gas station to hang out with
my friends Julia and Deanne. They were two liberty bell regulars because they always bought
cigarettes or loosies from liberty and they were pretty hard to miss. Julia was pale and had green hair
but a green that resembled the statue of liberty. I met her through Deanne around January of 2017 and
I liked how easy going she was. Deanne, on the other hand, was a brunette with a blonde highlight in
the front of her hair. I met Deanne through her ex boyfriend Aj, who was also a close friend. Deanne
was from the suburbs and she moved to Philadelphia in August of 2016. I resided in philadelphia for 8
years and I hated how everyone is connected to each other there. I did quite a good job removing my
ties from people I didn t want to be connected to. The day I had my moment of self discovery I ran
into a few people I cut ties with. When I met up with Deanne and Julia, I seen an old friend Jessica
and her cousin at Liberty bell. I was friends with her in 5th grade but I had to stop being her friend
because we were going opposite directions in life. Jessica came up to me and said, Moe are you down
to smoke with us . I went over to deanne and julia and I asked you down to do it . Deanne replied yea
we re down . We walked with Jessica and her cousin to an alleyway. It was kind of

Set in New York 1860s, Fame and Fortune or, The Progress of Richard Hunter by Horatio Alger is
about Richard Hunter, a boot black who, in the previous book, went from rags to riches by choosing to

best friend Henry finding a boarding house to live in. After they find a room, Richard starts his first

Prohibition Of Drugs And Alcohol
Popular belief holds that consumption of drugs and alcohol encourages violence and that the
appropriate response is prohibition of these goods. However, a different viewpoint is that prohibition
creates illegal underground markets, which require violence and crime to remedy in house disputes.
This paper examines the relationship between prohibition and violence using the historical data and
behavior following previous U.S. drug and alcohol laws, regulations, and enforcement on indicators of
violence, e.g. homicide rates, and government enforcement expenditures. The results show that an
increase in enforcement of drug and alcohol prohibition laws have been positively associated with
increases in the homicide rate. Furthermore, supplementary evidence suggests this strong positive
correlation prohibition enforcement on violence and the overall crime rate.
I. Introduction
Is Prohibition actually successful in reducing recreational drug consumption and drug related
violence? This is the question that will be analyzed in this paper. Drug enforcement officials
frequently cite drug related violence as a reason that drugs must be eliminated from our society. A
contrary belief is that the system of drug prohibition actually causes most of the violence. Just like
with alcohol prohibition in the 1920s and the rise of organized crime, drug prohibition inspires a
dangerous underground market that manifests itself with violent crime throughout the U.S. and, in
fact, the

Chaucer Satire Essay
Satire (The Analysis of Chaucer s Use of Satire to Reach His Intended Audience) The freedom of
speech was not fully recognized until the colonist wanted to be separate from Britain and their church;
however Chaucer was the one that introduced them to speaking out. The Canterbury Tales is a series
of stories told by an interacting group of characters in the course of a journey which is seen, in
accordance with a common medieval conception, as an image of human life in time. (Traversi, Derek
A) Chaucer wrote the tale using characters as his voice claiming that the people in the story said what
he had actually written himself. This is method is called satire. Chaucer wanted to use his stories as a
way to tell people his views of the world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is obvious that Chaucer had strong opinions against the church by the way he described the
pardoner. It is apparent that although he wanted to show this he did in the most subtle way possible, by
using someone else s voice. He does not come right out and say that the church is bad and that he
hates the church. No. He takes one of the foundational and influential people of the church and turns
him, the Pardoner, into the bearer of bad news. G. Sterling once wrote, He s a moral poet, but he s not
didactic, said Tuma. He doesn t tell you what to think; he just holds out these characterizations and
asks the audience to draw its own conclusions. (G. Sterling) Basically Chaucer gets a get out of jail
free card by using the prestige of echoing his thoughts into words with the mouths of others. By doing
so he is able to demonstrate his negative notions towards the Church. But do not discount that he did
allow for a protagonist in his tales, the Parson, who is in fact a good person. To set the record straight,
Chaucer s intentions using satire towards the church was to inform that sometimes the church takes
advantage of its loyal followers, but not all church folk are inclined to be so

The Hero Of Faith Based Social Justice
The ongoing war for social justice in all of its varying facets and regions throughout the globe
demands the relentless commitment of a select few individuals whom voluntarily endure
immeasurable trials to obtain justice and salvation for the afflicted individuals whom they represent.
The willingness to accept criticism and hatred from their peers, the willingness to spend years of their
lives in a cold, isolated prison, and the willingness to even sacrifice their own lives for these selfless
pursuits grants these individuals the title: hero of faith based social justice. The unyielding dedication
of these heroes to these endeavors of social justice is truly remarkable and can be attributed to one
common characteristic: an unusually devout faith in a higher power. I believe that faith can serve as a
powerful inspiration for individuals to pursue social justice, and the dedication to one s faith can
influence their commitment to accomplishing their specific goal or mission in the realm of social
justice. The acclaimed hero of faith based social justice: William Wilberforce clearly portrays this
relationship in his own life experiences as a converted Christian who dedicated his life to the work of
social justice.
Like a common thread intertwining the several heroes of social justice whom I have studied
throughout the semester, the devotion to their own respective faith has empowered these individuals to
dedicate their lives to the arduous task of representing the oppressed

bat for the movie Cool Hand Luke . Lukas Jackson, a man introduced to us by cutting the heads off
parking meters, is sent to a chain gang for two years as punishment. After watching the film, and
reading the reviews, it is obvious that there are several pertinent ideas that characterize the film s
central theme Luke s question of his faith, his keen smile that tells all, how he is neither a hero or an
anti hero, and how ironically he is a Christ like figure himself. From the very first minute in the
movie, Luke has already introduced us to his famous smile. The man grins foolishly and lifts a bottle

Letter To Romans
The doctrine of Justification presents a myriad of problems when taken out of the context of Scripture.
Therefore, in this paper, I will argue for a reformed perspective on Justification by way of Biblical
expostion. Needless to say, there has been countless of capable theologians who have treated the
doctrine of Justification through the past two thousand years. However, it is the apostle Paul, who,
inevitably, treats the doctrine of Justification with precision. Therefore, it seems logical to appeal to
the apostle, in order to fully understand the weight of what it means to be justified and made righteous
before a Holy God. First, we will address what some people call Paul s systematic theology in his
letter to the Romans. The book of Romans is perhaps the most precise exposition of the human
condition and the act of God whereby humanity is redeemed. Next, we will treat the letter to the
Galatians, where the apostle deals with the problem of the Law and the legal standing of the Believer.
Finally, the letter to the Philippians ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paul makes it very clear that salvation and the gospel is the whole purpose of his letter to the Romans.
Therefore, it is logical to begin with describing in depth, why it is that we, humans, are in such a dire
need for salvation. The apostle Paul asserts that all humanity is guilty and under God s wrath, because
we have rejected God as God and ceased to obey God s perfect commands. It is surprising that Paul
begins his letter with a positive notion that he was sent to preach the gospel (good news) of salvation
and suddenly reverts to exposing the human condition, and the negative notion that we are all under
God s wrath. Nevertheless, Paul is clearly teaching that only by fully understanding the bad news can
we appreciate the good

Queensland in 1988, that through its 18 centres was the largest single operator of early childhood
education services in Australia by 1997. Led by founder Eddy Groves, ABC Learning Ltd continued to
grow, through the opening of new centres and the acquisitions of rivals i.e. peppercorn Childcare in
2004 in which 450 centres were purchased for $340 million. By 2008, ABC Learning was the largest

Critics are focused on the mess of the books for ABC Learning Centres Ltd, specifically the complex
way in which revenue and profits were accounted for, particularly the way compensation payments
from centre developers were counted as revenue (Thompson 2008). The Financial position of ABC
Learning centres was misrepresented and projected a positive image of the financials, until Auditors
Ernst and Young were required to pour over the books after the collapse.
All of these issues are summed up in Thompsons (2008) assertion that Groves was the right man to

then the organization may have been able to turn its fortunes around.

Prostitutes In Ancient Athens
Prostitutes in Ancient Athens
Works Cited Missing
Ancient Athens was a highly polarized society in which citizenship meant everything. Citizenship
permitted individuals to not only participate in the democratic government but also gave them access
to all the rights and splendors of the city. A citizen controlled influence over slaves, foreigners and
most importantly women.
Athenian women were relegated to the status of child bearers and keepers of the household. There was
no room for personal expression or freedom and the strict moral code in many cases restricted these
women from even leaving their homes. There was a select group of women however who overcame
these obstacles to achieve greater sexual, economical, and social ... Show more content on

This is evident in the way that women were referred to in conversation as they were called aste (city
woman) rather than the feminine form of citizen which was politis (Just 1989: 21). Furthermore,
women s subservient status is also demonstrated in the common practice during formal speech of
specifying women by their relationships with men. Wives remained in the house for the majority of
the time and did not perform strenuous activity as the procreation of a son was all important
(http//:www.perseus.tufts.edu/classes/JKp.html). Another example of the inferior status of women is
the fact that adultery was a more serious crime than rape as it was an offense to the husband and put
into question the legitimacy of his sons (http://www.ucd.ie/~classics/94/Arkins94.html). Perhaps the
best description of the way in which wives were viewed by Athenian men is given by Ischomachos in
the Oikonomikos: Why, what knowledge could she have had, Sokrates, when I took her? She was not
yet fifteen years old when she came to me, and up until that time she had lived under the utmost care,
seeing as little as possible, hearing as little as possible, and saying as little as possible. If, when she
came to me, she knew no more than how to turn out a cloak when given the wool and had only seen
only how to the spinning had been given out to the maids, is that not as much as could be expected
(Xenophon: 7.5).

The increased size of the JLTV to the HMMV allows for increased utility and capacity to support the
sustainment brigade s forward elements within the battlespace. The JLTV s 15 inches higher than the

within the cabin of the vehicle for adequate room for C4ISR, additional equipment, and personnel.
The increased height required increases in the length and width adding 14 inches and 10 inches
accordingly. Unlike the HMMV the JLTV has a bolted A structured capsule within an integrated sub
frame that adds additional ballistic protections for the occupants. These attributes and characteristics
increase the movement, force protection, and C4ISR of Soldiers of the brigade as they execute their
mission throughout the battlespace. The brigade will execute its mission of providing mission control
of all its assigned, attached, and operational controlled units in order to provide sustainment
throughout its area of operation. In order for the brigade to meet this requirement ahead of and during
its upcoming deployment the replacement of one third of its HMMV with JLTV is intended to fill a

Film Analysis Of SinginIn The Rain
Singin in the Rain is a charming, film musical about two silent film actors, a pianist, and a chorus girl,
tackling the transition from silent films to talking films in 1920 s Hollywood. With talking films on
the rise, this group must conjure up a way to save their latest silent film before The Jazz Singer and
talkies take over and shut them down. This movie is one of the most beloved, classic films of all time.
This film, co directed by the leading male, Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen, follows the beloved and
famous silent actors and on screen couple, Don Lockwood (Gene Kelly) and Lina Lamont (Jean
Hagen). Don has worked exceptionally hard to become as successful as he is today with the help of his
lifetime friend and partner, Cosmo (Donald O Connor). When Don and Lina s latest film is
transformed into a musical in order to be saved, Don has the voice for it, however, his on screen love
interest, Lina does not. This gives Don the opportunity to bring in Kathy Seldon (Debbie Reynolds),
his off screen love interest and aspiring actress with a beautiful voice to replace Lina s horrid
croaking. The only problem is Lina, will she continue to climb her way up to the talking pictures
while taking everyone else down with her lack of talent, or will she step aside for the good of all and
let Kathy take her place both on the silver screen and in the heart of Don Lockwood? Now, because

Marketing And Sales Being The Same Thing
Introduction
Numerous people believe the thought of marketing and sales being the same thing. Conversely, sales
are only one bit of the entire marketing process. In order to comprehend the idea, it is crucial to
understand the marketing mix. Prior to a business choosing to launch an item into the business sector
there are variables and components that should be considered. Variables in marketing are considered
part of the marketing mix that is set up before the advertising program begins which thus characterizes
the four factors known as the four Ps . The variables in advertising will decide the components of the
item and how the purchaser or client sees the item. The four Ps consist of product, price, promotion,
and place.
For instance, Victoria s Secret a very well known company covering a wide variety of products such
as women sleepwear, swimsuits, clothing, underwear and cosmetics uses the marketing mix to their
advantage. Their most recent inventive step that the company made was the presentation of a line
called PINK. The line was launched with the point of growing the essential target market which
included young women in their mid 20s. In the present day, the target market also involves women in
their teens with the most recent PINK line. PINK had to be capable of designing want satisfying
products, setting a correct price for the items based on their target audience, putting the products in
places where customers will purchase them, and lastly create promotions

Main reason of the success of this lies in the fact that it tackled the issues of local taxi industry which
were becoming unbearable by the common people. For example ordinary taxis charge on the basis of
time spend while using the taxi (by customer) while Uber charges on the basis of distance. In
populated cities it was hectic to find taxi on urgent basis, Uber tackled this issue and gave service
which is handled by a smart phone app and claims to provide taxi with in exact 10 minutes of ordering
the service. In the start prices of Uber taxi services were high due to their high quality services which
left the customer range un attended who prefer to pay less money to the taxi, but in 2012 Uber offered
a service with a name Uber X with comparatively less prices and a bit less quality service (in terms of
not providing first class taxis and a bit of delay in time), this service gained the attention of those
customers who were not in hurry while going somewhere (Brown 17). This much coverage of taxi
industry created a lot of issues in the local taxi industry where almost 80% of customers started using
Uber, because of many facilities like one can travel without cash on the spot, as all transactions are
through credit cards, safety reasons, quality service reasons, urgent service and etc.

Continuities In The Commerce Of The Indian Ocean
From 650 CE to 1750 CE, there were many changes and continuities in the commerce of the Indian
Ocean region. One major continuity in the commerce of the Indian Ocean was the emergence and use
of the same trade routes for both imports and exports of goods such as gold and ivory. One major
change was how the commerce of the Indian Ocean prospered economically. The commerce of the
Indian Ocean developed rapidly, and the trade incorporated places such as East Africa, the Persian
Gulf, Red Sea and India. Another major change was the increased involvement of the Europeans in the
Indian Ocean commerce shortly after discovering it.
One major continuity in the commerce of the Indian Ocean was the continued use of the same trade
routes and ports in the Indian Ocean for imports and exports. Trading ports in East Africa served as a
method of transporting goods from Africa. The goods being traded was another continuity. Gold,
ivory, and iron were constantly being exported from Africa due to their profitable values. These items
could be sold at a profit because they were scarce in Asian countries. Another continuity was the
tradition in the use of monsoon winds to help travel. The Indian Ocean trade was made easier by the
monsoon winds that circulated between Asia and the Eastern coast which reduced travel times, and
produced favorable wind currents.
However, there were also many changes in the commerce of the Indian Ocean. The commerce of the
Indian Ocean changed the eastern coast of

Man s Search For Meaning By Viktor Frankl
Introduction
Man s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl describes his therapeutic doctrine (pg. 97), logotherapy.
Frankl further developed his theory based on his experiences living in the concentration camps during
World War II. He shares how this philosophy enabled him to survive the toughest times and find
motivation in life. In this paper, I will describe how Man s Search for Meaning provided personal
insights for dealing with the stresses of professional school. I will also address the impact of the
concentration camps on the prisoners using a biopsychosocial spiritual perspective and how Frankl s
challenge to always have a purpose in life can benefit families that are facing a difficult health related
diagnosis.
Personal insights
In logotherapy, Frankl states there are three different ways to find meaning in life, (1) by creating
work or doing a deed; (2) by experiencing something or encountering someone; and (3) by the attitude
we take toward unavoidable suffering (pg. 111). I realized these three tactics could be relevant to my
own life as I take on the challenge of optometry school. Optometry school is a huge commitment and
it demands four years of heavy course loads with challenging material. There is evidence that almost
30% of medical students experience symptoms of depression and around 11% have had suicidal
thoughts (Rotenstein et al., 2016). I prefer not to become one of these statistics during my time in
optometry school. I feel one way to prevent this

What Is The Perpetuation Of Western Beauty
Every morning, countless girls and young women sit at their TV watching primarily thin, white
actresses playing the lead roe on whatever show they happen to be watching. During commercials,
more fit white people with straight white teeth, doe eyes, and thin noses are advertising any product
imaginable. These young children go to the store to pick from a variety and what they re met with has
the variation of a bowl of cheerios. Barbies, for example: you can choose from 10 white dolls with big
blue eyes, a waist the width of her neck, blonde hair, thin lips... or one black doll with the same
eurocentric features only with darker skin and brown hair. These standards are set at a young age and
follow women to their grave. The TV isn t the only place these expectations become clear; they re
everywhere. In magazines, every model is below a size 2 unless specifically targeting plus sized
women (it was recently determined that plus sized includes any woman size 8 or higher). In every
advertisement, these women pop up so often promoting not only a product but an expectation on how
to live in order to achieve the look deemed normal. Young women grow up believing that they need to
be beautiful in order to be accepted. Only the catch is, the idea of beauty beat into their heads is an
ideal impossible to achieve healthily and naturally by the majority of women. The perpetuation of
Western beauty standards is an ideal that causes harm to young women, and especially young women
of color.

By 2004, it was clear that Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were lethal and the weapon of choice

they produced. Standard thin skin HMMWVs did not provide ample protection, nor did up armored

Commanders requested safer vehicles suited for irregular warfare tactics, and received up armored
HMMWVs and add on armor kits, which did not provide sufficient protection in an irregular warfare
environment. Further, the services were slow to respond to Combatant Commanders requests for
MRAPs because their priority was to develop the JLTV, fueled by the assertion that MRAPs would be
obsolete beyond the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. This speaks to the tendency of the services to invest
in future capabilities, while failing to provide Combatant Commanders with a method to develop or
procure equipment necessary to fight present wars. The Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC)
oversees JCIDS and is often misaligned because it often defers to the services. Neither the Army nor
the Marines wanted to invest in MRAPs, so neither did the JROC . As a result, the requirement for
MRAPs was slow to validate and once valid remained an unfunded requirement until political
pressure and public opinion forced the Pentagon to reevaluate fielding MRAPs in large numbers.
The MRAP acquisition program employed a tailorable approach, whereas the traditional approach is
linear and rigid. This tailorable approach compressed the traditional process by permitting some
decision points and milestone processes to run in parallel with others, and to receive waivers for other
milestones, such as the technical assessment. This was due to the MRAP program already meeting

Connotation In The Lottery
There are many lively traditions attributed to the culture of the United States. An example of a
tradition is the holiday of the 4th of July, celebrating the independence of the United States. Another is
the holiday of Thanksgiving, where thanks is given to the Natives that provided the Pilgrims with
food. Then, there are lotteries, where people have a shot at winning thousands and millions of dollars.
Lotteries always bring a sense of happiness and eagerness to attendees and winners. Plenty of people
across the United States attend since a lot of money can be acquired from winning. This gives winning
the lottery a positive connotation. Although the lottery tradition of America is positive, others are not
so positive. In Shirley Jackson s short story, The Lottery, the tradition costs people their lives.
Therefore giving winning the lottery a negative connotation. Through depictions of the nervousness of
the adults and children as well as her descriptions of the objects associated with the lottery, Shirley
Jackson, in her short story, suggests the horror of violence that concludes the story.
Through depictions of the nervousness of the adults and children, Jackson suggests and gives hints
about the horror of violence that ends the story. In the beginning of her short story, she describes the
arrival of summer, but the children did not feel as relieved as the should be. Jackson states that the
feeling of liberty sat uneasily on them. The children found it hard to properly

Mending Wall Negative Barriers
Sadly, we often choose to conform to what people and society tells us we should be (Maggie Barrie
Gunter n.p.) Mending wall is a good example of the statement above. It shows that we all at times
compelled to do what the society expects from us no matter what we feel about it. In some situations,
having some strong foundation of self love can prevent us from being victims of societal expectations
of us thus decreasing the high levels of hypocrisy in the society. Living in the world today there are so
many people who aim to break our self esteem and bring us down (Maggie Barrie Gunter n.p.). The
best weapon to combat this type negative criticism is to have an abundance of self love. As longs we
have this we are always going get up time after time whenever we are brought down. Having a lot of
self love and self esteem is not a guarantee that we won t be brought downtime to time but as a way to
always bring us up after everytime we fall. These two pieces have a link between them that are very
different yet so similar. They both talk of relationships both at the individual level and at the society
level. They both show effects of low self love and how people are a bend do the will of others.
According to the song pretty hurts the persona narrates on how she goes to great pains and distress
trying to be pretty for others and so that they can see her as pretty and like her yet after all the pains
she has to go and face self criticism. What is the point of trying to earn

The Image Analysis Of Drakkar Nior
What more in the world is needed for you to buy my product? I, cooperate America, spend millions of
dollars a year in research and marketing to try to advertise my product directly to you by using a
variety of methods, the most prominent being Aristotle s ancient rhetorical appeals. In this image
analysis, I will be breaking down the thoughts of the marketing team at Drakkar Nior and explain who
their are targeting and what strategies they use to do so.
This brand Drakkar Nior was introduced in 1982 by by Guy Laroche. It is a part of the Pierre Wargnye
perfume company now manufactured by L Ore al. According to the New York Times is translates into
a flat bottomed Viking ship (Drakkar Nior Wikipedia). In July of 2014 the company created a new
advertisement.
The ad features a famous black muscular shirtless football, Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers,
player with a six pack and an intense facial expression. Cam is wearing shoulder pads in the
rectangular door shaped tunnel of what appears to be a sports facility, assuming it is a football
stadium, with a beam of light coming through. To the right there is a photo shopped bottle of the
product. The cologne is in a average, some could say manly, looking blue and black bottle in the shape
of a curved rectangle. The shade of blue and the black are the same colors as the Carolina Panthers
logo. Underneath the bottle there are words that say The new fragrance for men FEEL THE POWER .

Piggy s Spectacles In Lord Of The Flies
Piggy is described as an intellectually gifted boy as he possesses knowledge about different facts
largely unknown by others. His glasses, with the help of which the signal fire is started, represent the
scientific and intellectual power of the society he has been raised in. The meaning of the glasses
differs throughout the main characters of Jack, ralph, and Piggy himself, but as a generalization, the
glasses of Piggy portray advancement and innovation.
To Piggy, the owner of the spectacles, the glasses at first represented the basic ability to see. They
were thought no more of than a helpful accessory. His specs use them as burning glasses! (40,

He has a disagreeable attitude toward them and uses Piggy s glasses to his advantage. Piggy s glasses
flew off and tinkled on the rocks. (71, Golding) When Jack slapped Piggy and broke them, that
resembled the full disorder and chaos experienced on the island. It showed how far the group has
come from orderly civilization when the glasses are misused and not being used for smarts or reason
anymore. The glasses are also one of the last remaining tools from the outside world. The boys use
this tool, instead of more primitive means, to light the signal fire which shows the initial desire for
order. But the glasses, like the conch shell, are broken by savagery. When the glasses break, the last
link the boys had to their past society is broken.
The spectacles of Piggy are essential for the storyline and play a role in the knowing of the downfall
of order and the takeover of chaos. Although each character uses them differently and has a different
attitude towards them, the glasses give the correct insight of the scientific technological advancement
that is available in the surrounding world, but not on the

Theories Of Employee Retention
Here in the United States, there has been an emerging issue that has challenged management within
the workforce. That issue is simply put is employee retention. With so many at will employment
options out there, fierce competition amongst business and those businesses looking to operate more
efficiently with less staff, employee retention has become an issue. So we have to ask ourselves how
do we combat this issue? This issue is a very complex one here in America because of the melting pot
we are with cultures, beliefs, structures, restrictions, affirmative action and etc. Throughout our studies
the research has shown that thriving organizations will be the ones that adopt and emplace an

Fourth would be how to overcome low motivation. With these factors, ideas of how to communicate
the plan within the organization must be implemented. The Sheriff has hired an expert advisor in the
field of Effective law enforcement organizational planning when understaffed to achieve the
aforementioned. For the purpose of this paper let s say that I will be this expert.
One of the key factors for retention strategy and hiring of new employees goes far and beyond a
competitive benefits package and salary. However the latter is very much so important and would
need to be addressed. After brief study of surrounding law enforcement agencies I have come to the
conclusion that MCSO is behind a little when it comes to compensation and benefits. The neighboring
county of Palm Beach has a starting salary of $47,220 for law enforcement positions (Sentinel, A. R.
2014). This is approximately a full $7,000 more than MCSO s starting salary. Not to mention the Fire
Department within Martin County has a starting salary around $48,000. In my professional opinion
public service is public service and both the fire department and sheriff s office fall under this
umbrella. There needs to be more parity here because it seems to be a common complaint amongst the
employees of the sheriff s office which negatively affects motivation and morale.
Research suggest that employees rank recognition, flexibility and training as top priorities for

Texas Supreme Court Case Analysis
Texas consists of three branches of government; the executive, legislative, and judicial branch. Texas
government is modeled very similarly to The United States three branches. Specifically within the
judicial branch, there is a Supreme Court, which is the highest federal court of The United States
[National]. There is also a Supreme Court in Texas; which is the highest court in the state. A 5 4
decision by The United States Supreme Court on June 26th, 2015 ended all state bans on same sex
marriage and requires all fifty states to recognize marriages legally performed in other states.
Immediately after this historic decision was made, in disobedience of the Supreme Court, Texas
attorney general said, that county clerks can refuse to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples if
they object on religious grounds. This was Texas initial reaction to the ruling. Former Texas Gov. Rick
Perry, a presidential contender, said he was disappointed with the ruling and as president, I would
appoint strict constitutional conservatives who will apply the law as written.

How Does Arthur Conan Doyle Use The Observant Character Of...
The basis of detective fictions is a well developed and observant character that is able to walk the
audience and outside perspectives through the case. In this case, Arthur Conan Doyle utilizes the
observant perspective of Watson to describe the actions of Sherlock Holmes. Doyle characterizes
Sherlock through underscoring vocabulary and the first person understanding of Watson. A series of
analytical language and descriptive literary devices such as juxtaposition to portray the effects of Irene
Adler on the near perfect character of Sherlock Holmes. Doyle begins the passage by emphasizing
THE woman to Sherlock Holmes in order to introduce an impacting character within the selective and
closed off life of Sherlock. The emphasis on THE resembles her as an overbearing character that has
establish a lasting impact on Sherlock as even he does not mention her under any other name. The lack
of emphasis on her name, but rather her mark on Sherlock, is utilized to present an ambivalent feeling
within Sherlock in which he can t identify her as a flaw or test of himself. Doyle proceeds by
clarifying the idea of her overbearing image by characterizing her as the dominant image for the
whole of his sex in order to reemphasize her presence in Sherlock s highly selective and egoistic
memory. Furthermore, Doyle utilizes the close relationship of Watson to clarify that it was not any
emotion akin to love in order to introduce the idea of reason rather than emotion, specifically love. In
addition, this is the first time THE woman [ s] name is mentioned to slowly introduce the character
and ease into the rest of the story and flashback of their encounter. Further on, Doyle continues the

The Importance Of Suspension In Education
The most frequently used discipline practice amongst schools in America, is out of school suspension
(Lee, Cornell, Gregory, Xitao, 2011). Suspension is used as a consequence to correct a student s
actions or behavior on school ground. Periodically, this is an effective approach depending on the
student s mindset about their education. Socioeconomic status, ethnicity, and the environment the
students are raised in also tends to play a role in the student s behavior. Based on where an adolescent
is raised can be a critical factor because of the impact it can have on their achievement in school. The
dropout rates for urban students tend to be higher than students living in rural areas. Suspension can
lead to negative academic outcomes for students individually.
According to Gregory Ripski (2008), high school teachers frequently refer students for discipline
problems. Students suspended from school are more likely to be retained, get suspended again, and
have low achievement. Majority of the referrals for defiance occur in the classroom. The study
addressed the gaps within the relation among trust in authority and cooperation between discipline
referred students and teachers. Researchers suggest that cooperative behavior is the key for well
functioning high school classrooms, in which youth trust their teachers and engage in their academic
success. This study conducted 40 minute semistructured interviews and surveys regarding students
behavior and disciplinary approaches

many individuals changed the world that we see today. One man helped shape the modern world that

109 years, and throughout that time, Ford changed the automotive industry forever. Ford introduced

While he was not at work he would spend most his free time in his shed working on different
inventions. The one that he worked on the most was his first horseless carriage the quadracycle. It was
just a single person vehicle that he built using bicycle parts. Just a frame, 4 bike tires, and a small
engine. This invention led to financial support from investors where he made his first company. The
Detroit Automobile Company, but it didn t last long because the investors didn t get their money back
fast enough. With the company failing he left it to the investors and he then started what we all know
as The Ford Motor Company in 1903. The first Ford vehicle was the model A. The process to two or
three workers an entire day to build the vehicle with parts that were made from other manufactures.
Ford thought that this process was entirely too long. This is when he finally brought the assembly line

In 1908 Ford created the Model T, the first affordable vehicle for the working class family, and the
first vehicle to be built using mass production and the assembly line. Ford s vehicles took entirely to

of an entire automobile. His innovation reduced the time it took to build a car from more than 12

Foil Characters In Romeo And Juliet
William Shakespeare is the greatest playwright in the history of the world, and one of his most famous
tragedy plays is Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is about two star crossed
lovers Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet. Their families are in a feud and brawls have taken place
between these two families. Romeo s personality can be viewed differently from different parts of the
play with the other characters he is around. At one point of the play he can be seen as a positive,
tranquil man and the next moment later he is a vicious, stubborn person. Using foils Romeo s
character is developed by contrasting through Friar Laurence s wise personality, Balthasar s loyal
personality, and Benvolio s peaceful personality. Friar Laurence develops Romeo s character through
his wise personality making Romeo look stubborn. Romeo demonstrates as being stubborn when he
finds out he is banished and is willing to kill himself by saying, Wert thought as young as I, Juliet thy
love, an hour but married, Tybalt murdered, doting like me and like me banished, then mightst thou

My Annual Salary For Five Years

Essay about Dante’s Version of Hell
In Dante s Inferno, we followed Dante as he narrates his decent and observations of hell. A wonderful
part of that depiction is his descriptions of the creative yet cruel punishments that each of the different
sinners receive. This story is an integral part of literary history, and even if I were to have the
imagination and ability of Dante Alighieri, I don t believe I would change this tried and true version
known universally.
Since I have the desire to maintain the validity of Dante s version of hell in its entirety, I will explain
the parts I found most intriguing, and why.
His use of incredible and descript wording was impressive. Dante narrates the vile stench in which
groups of men were chained to the hard floors, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes, the guards would throw a bucket of water over the stones to cleanse them; there were
however, prisoners underneath the other prisoners and the water would wash all of the excrement and
bodily fluids down through grates and drip onto the bodies of the standing prisoners who dare not lie
down and could not stand up because of the vile filth on them and around their feet (Cantor). These
are only a few descriptions of the various practices of cruelty.
The first sin that Dante describes is heresy. The penalty in the medieval era for heresy was often
public humiliation, imprisonment or to suffer death by burning. (Cantor). The punishment for the arch
heretics and those who followed them was that they be ensepulchered and to have some heated more,
some less. (Alighieri). These red hot sepulchers served as a punishment for the heretics, causing burns.
The archheretics firmly believed that everything died with the body therefore there was no soul. So,
they were punished with the hot and crowded pokers, but they were also punished with their beliefs
and they were allowed to feel what it s like to die eternally and lie and wait until the apocalypse. This
punishment is one in that was more focused on inflicting a physical and bodily pain rather than a
mental one.
Another sin whose punishment was administered with the full intention of causing great harm was
flattery.

Negativity Bias In News And Media
News and media, specifically the language used by news and media outlets, has a very real effect on
our consciousnesses and therefore our actions as a society. Negativity bias is very real and has a
substantial effect on our overall world outlook. Similarly, how article titles are phrased drastically
sways what information we retain and which articles we choose to read. It has been shown in various
studies that subtle misinformation and so called, alternative facts lead to an overall shift in our
consciousness as a society. Therefore, both news and media have a significant impact on our beliefs
and mindset overall as a society through the employment of negativity bias, the specific phrasing of
articles and their titles, and deliberate subtle misinformation to the public.
Negativity bias is the concept that even when of equal intensity, things of a more negative nature have
a greater effect on our psychological state and process than do positive or neutral thoughts. Examples
of this include, unpleasant thought, harmful or traumatic experiences, and negative emotions,
especially fear. This concept can be seen on a variety of platforms but is most evident in combat
veterans, victims of violent or especially traumatic events, and, surprisingly, journalists. When we hear
of PTSD we expect an image of a veteran, or a victim or some violent event like rape, seeing their
parents die horribly, being a victim of a mass shooting, etc.. Yet, journalists are more likely to become

  • 3. Essay On Moment Of Self Discovery My moment of self discovery was a coincidence. It was August 13th and it occurred right after my shift was over in Burger King. It started when I was going to Liberty bell gas station to hang out with my friends Julia and Deanne. They were two liberty bell regulars because they always bought cigarettes or loosies from liberty and they were pretty hard to miss. Julia was pale and had green hair but a green that resembled the statue of liberty. I met her through Deanne around January of 2017 and I liked how easy going she was. Deanne, on the other hand, was a brunette with a blonde highlight in the front of her hair. I met Deanne through her ex boyfriend Aj, who was also a close friend. Deanne was from the suburbs and she moved to Philadelphia in August of 2016. I resided in philadelphia for 8 years and I hated how everyone is connected to each other there. I did quite a good job removing my ties from people I didn t want to be connected to. The day I had my moment of self discovery I ran into a few people I cut ties with. When I met up with Deanne and Julia, I seen an old friend Jessica and her cousin at Liberty bell. I was friends with her in 5th grade but I had to stop being her friend because we were going opposite directions in life. Jessica came up to me and said, Moe are you down to smoke with us . I went over to deanne and julia and I asked you down to do it . Deanne replied yea we re down . We walked with Jessica and her cousin to an alleyway. It was kind of ... • 5. Prohibition Of Drugs And Alcohol Popular belief holds that consumption of drugs and alcohol encourages violence and that the appropriate response is prohibition of these goods. However, a different viewpoint is that prohibition creates illegal underground markets, which require violence and crime to remedy in house disputes. This paper examines the relationship between prohibition and violence using the historical data and behavior following previous U.S. drug and alcohol laws, regulations, and enforcement on indicators of violence, e.g. homicide rates, and government enforcement expenditures. The results show that an increase in enforcement of drug and alcohol prohibition laws have been positively associated with increases in the homicide rate. Furthermore, supplementary evidence suggests this strong positive correlation prohibition enforcement on violence and the overall crime rate. I. Introduction Is Prohibition actually successful in reducing recreational drug consumption and drug related violence? This is the question that will be analyzed in this paper. Drug enforcement officials frequently cite drug related violence as a reason that drugs must be eliminated from our society. A contrary belief is that the system of drug prohibition actually causes most of the violence. Just like with alcohol prohibition in the 1920s and the rise of organized crime, drug prohibition inspires a dangerous underground market that manifests itself with violent crime throughout the U.S. and, in fact, the ... • 6. Chaucer Satire Essay Satire (The Analysis of Chaucer s Use of Satire to Reach His Intended Audience) The freedom of speech was not fully recognized until the colonist wanted to be separate from Britain and their church; however Chaucer was the one that introduced them to speaking out. The Canterbury Tales is a series of stories told by an interacting group of characters in the course of a journey which is seen, in accordance with a common medieval conception, as an image of human life in time. (Traversi, Derek A) Chaucer wrote the tale using characters as his voice claiming that the people in the story said what he had actually written himself. This is method is called satire. Chaucer wanted to use his stories as a way to tell people his views of the world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is obvious that Chaucer had strong opinions against the church by the way he described the pardoner. It is apparent that although he wanted to show this he did in the most subtle way possible, by using someone else s voice. He does not come right out and say that the church is bad and that he hates the church. No. He takes one of the foundational and influential people of the church and turns him, the Pardoner, into the bearer of bad news. G. Sterling once wrote, He s a moral poet, but he s not didactic, said Tuma. He doesn t tell you what to think; he just holds out these characterizations and asks the audience to draw its own conclusions. (G. Sterling) Basically Chaucer gets a get out of jail free card by using the prestige of echoing his thoughts into words with the mouths of others. By doing so he is able to demonstrate his negative notions towards the Church. But do not discount that he did allow for a protagonist in his tales, the Parson, who is in fact a good person. To set the record straight, Chaucer s intentions using satire towards the church was to inform that sometimes the church takes advantage of its loyal followers, but not all church folk are inclined to be so ... • 8. The Hero Of Faith Based Social Justice The ongoing war for social justice in all of its varying facets and regions throughout the globe demands the relentless commitment of a select few individuals whom voluntarily endure immeasurable trials to obtain justice and salvation for the afflicted individuals whom they represent. The willingness to accept criticism and hatred from their peers, the willingness to spend years of their lives in a cold, isolated prison, and the willingness to even sacrifice their own lives for these selfless pursuits grants these individuals the title: hero of faith based social justice. The unyielding dedication of these heroes to these endeavors of social justice is truly remarkable and can be attributed to one common characteristic: an unusually devout faith in a higher power. I believe that faith can serve as a powerful inspiration for individuals to pursue social justice, and the dedication to one s faith can influence their commitment to accomplishing their specific goal or mission in the realm of social justice. The acclaimed hero of faith based social justice: William Wilberforce clearly portrays this relationship in his own life experiences as a converted Christian who dedicated his life to the work of social justice. Like a common thread intertwining the several heroes of social justice whom I have studied throughout the semester, the devotion to their own respective faith has empowered these individuals to dedicate their lives to the arduous task of representing the oppressed ... Lukas Jackson, a man introduced to us by cutting the heads off parking meters, is sent to a chain gang for two years as punishment. After watching the film, and reading the reviews, it is obvious that there are several pertinent ideas that characterize the film s central theme Luke s question of his faith, his keen smile that tells all, how he is neither a hero or an anti hero, and how ironically he is a Christ like figure himself. From the very first minute in the movie, Luke has already introduced us to his famous smile. The man grins foolishly and lifts a bottle in salute (Champlin 3). This ... • 10. Letter To Romans The doctrine of Justification presents a myriad of problems when taken out of the context of Scripture. Therefore, in this paper, I will argue for a reformed perspective on Justification by way of Biblical expostion. Needless to say, there has been countless of capable theologians who have treated the doctrine of Justification through the past two thousand years. However, it is the apostle Paul, who, inevitably, treats the doctrine of Justification with precision. Therefore, it seems logical to appeal to the apostle, in order to fully understand the weight of what it means to be justified and made righteous before a Holy God. First, we will address what some people call Paul s systematic theology in his letter to the Romans. The book of Romans is perhaps the most precise exposition of the human condition and the act of God whereby humanity is redeemed. Next, we will treat the letter to the Galatians, where the apostle deals with the problem of the Law and the legal standing of the Believer. Finally, the letter to the Philippians ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Paul makes it very clear that salvation and the gospel is the whole purpose of his letter to the Romans. Therefore, it is logical to begin with describing in depth, why it is that we, humans, are in such a dire need for salvation. The apostle Paul asserts that all humanity is guilty and under God s wrath, because we have rejected God as God and ceased to obey God s perfect commands. It is surprising that Paul begins his letter with a positive notion that he was sent to preach the gospel (good news) of salvation and suddenly reverts to exposing the human condition, and the negative notion that we are all under God s wrath. Nevertheless, Paul is clearly teaching that only by fully understanding the bad news can we appreciate the good ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Financial position of ABC Learning centres was misrepresented and projected a positive image of the financials, until Auditors Ernst and Young were required to pour over the books after the collapse. Citizenship permitted individuals to not only participate in the democratic government but also gave them access to all the rights and splendors of the city. A citizen controlled influence over slaves, foreigners and most importantly women. Athenian women were relegated to the status of child bearers and keepers of the household. This is evident in the way that women were referred to in conversation as they were called aste (city woman) rather than the feminine form of citizen which was politis (Just 1989: 21). Furthermore, women s subservient status is also demonstrated in the common practice during formal speech of specifying women by their relationships with men. Wives remained in the house for the majority of the time and did not perform strenuous activity as the procreation of a son was all important (http//:www.perseus.tufts.edu/classes/JKp.html). Another example of the inferior status of women is the fact that adultery was a more serious crime than rape as it was an offense to the husband and put into question the legitimacy of his sons (http://www.ucd.ie/~classics/94/Arkins94.html). Perhaps the best description of the way in which wives were viewed by Athenian men is given by Ischomachos in the Oikonomikos: Why, what knowledge could she have had, Sokrates, when I took her? She was not yet fifteen years old when she came to me, and up until that time she had lived under the utmost care, seeing as little as possible, hearing as little as possible, and saying as little as possible. If, when she came to me, she knew no more than how to turn out a cloak when given the wool and had only seen only how to the spinning had been given out to the maids, is that not as much as could be expected (Xenophon: 7.5). • 15. Marketing And Sales Being The Same Thing Introduction Numerous people believe the thought of marketing and sales being the same thing. Conversely, sales are only one bit of the entire marketing process. In order to comprehend the idea, it is crucial to understand the marketing mix. Prior to a business choosing to launch an item into the business sector there are variables and components that should be considered. Variables in marketing are considered part of the marketing mix that is set up before the advertising program begins which thus characterizes the four factors known as the four Ps . The variables in advertising will decide the components of the item and how the purchaser or client sees the item. The four Ps consist of product, price, promotion, and place. For instance, Victoria s Secret a very well known company covering a wide variety of products such as women sleepwear, swimsuits, clothing, underwear and cosmetics uses the marketing mix to their advantage. Their most recent inventive step that the company made was the presentation of a line called PINK. The line was launched with the point of growing the essential target market which included young women in their mid 20s. Frankl further developed his theory based on his experiences living in the concentration camps during World War II. He shares how this philosophy enabled him to survive the toughest times and find motivation in life. In this paper, I will describe how Man s Search for Meaning provided personal insights for dealing with the stresses of professional school. I will also address the impact of the concentration camps on the prisoners using a biopsychosocial spiritual perspective and how Frankl s challenge to always have a purpose in life can benefit families that are facing a difficult health related diagnosis. I realized these three tactics could be relevant to my own life as I take on the challenge of optometry school. Optometry school is a huge commitment and it demands four years of heavy course loads with challenging material. What Is The Perpetuation Of Western Beauty Every morning, countless girls and young women sit at their TV watching primarily thin, white actresses playing the lead roe on whatever show they happen to be watching. Barbies, for example: you can choose from 10 white dolls with big blue eyes, a waist the width of her neck, blonde hair, thin lips... or one black doll with the same eurocentric features only with darker skin and brown hair. These standards are set at a young age and follow women to their grave. The TV isn t the only place these expectations become clear; they re everywhere. In magazines, every model is below a size 2 unless specifically targeting plus sized women (it was recently determined that plus sized includes any woman size 8 or higher). In every advertisement, these women pop up so often promoting not only a product but an expectation on how to live in order to achieve the look deemed normal. Young women grow up believing that they need to be beautiful in order to be accepted. Further, the services were slow to respond to Combatant Commanders requests for MRAPs because their priority was to develop the JLTV, fueled by the assertion that MRAPs would be obsolete beyond the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. This speaks to the tendency of the services to invest in future capabilities, while failing to provide Combatant Commanders with a method to develop or procure equipment necessary to fight present wars. The Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC) oversees JCIDS and is often misaligned because it often defers to the services. The MRAP acquisition program employed a tailorable approach, whereas the traditional approach is linear and rigid. Suspension is used as a consequence to correct a student s actions or behavior on school ground. Periodically, this is an effective approach depending on the student s mindset about their education. Socioeconomic status, ethnicity, and the environment the students are raised in also tends to play a role in the student s behavior. Students suspended from school are more likely to be retained, get suspended again, and have low achievement. Majority of the referrals for defiance occur in the classroom. The study addressed the gaps within the relation among trust in authority and cooperation between discipline referred students and teachers. Researchers suggest that cooperative behavior is the key for well functioning high school classrooms, in which youth trust their teachers and engage in their academic success. This study conducted 40 minute semistructured interviews and surveys regarding students behavior and disciplinary approaches ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Ford Motor Company Changed The Auto World Be ready to revise any system, scrap any method, abandon any theory, if the success of the job requires it. This is a quote from the famous innovator Henry Ford. Throughout the history of mankind, many individuals changed the world that we see today. One man helped shape the modern world that we live in today. That man s name is Henry Ford. The Ford Motor Company has been in business for 109 years, and throughout that time, Ford changed the automotive industry forever. Ford introduced the Model T, and that was just the beginning of how the Ford Motor Company changed the auto world. If you look back at the early life of Ford, you can see how the failure of his first automobile company led to the success of his second business, The Ford ... The one that he worked on the most was his first horseless carriage the quadracycle. It was just a single person vehicle that he built using bicycle parts. Just a frame, 4 bike tires, and a small engine. This invention led to financial support from investors where he made his first company. The Detroit Automobile Company, but it didn t last long because the investors didn t get their money back fast enough. With the company failing he left it to the investors and he then started what we all know as The Ford Motor Company in 1903. The first Ford vehicle was the model A. The process to two or three workers an entire day to build the vehicle with parts that were made from other manufactures. Ford thought that this process was entirely too long. This is when he finally brought the assembly line and mass production into the automobile industry. In 1908 Ford created the Model T, the first affordable vehicle for the working class family, and the first vehicle to be built using mass production and the assembly line. Ford s vehicles took entirely to long from start to finish. In 1913, Ford installs the first moving assembly line for the mass production of an entire automobile. His innovation reduced the time it took to build a car from more than 12 hours to two hours and 30 minutes. When the process of building a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Foil Characters In Romeo And Juliet William Shakespeare is the greatest playwright in the history of the world, and one of his most famous tragedy plays is Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is about two star crossed lovers Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet. Their families are in a feud and brawls have taken place between these two families. Romeo s personality can be viewed differently from different parts of the play with the other characters he is around. At one point of the play he can be seen as a positive, tranquil man and the next moment later he is a vicious, stubborn person. Using foils Romeo s character is developed by contrasting through Friar Laurence s wise personality, Balthasar s loyal personality, and Benvolio s peaceful personality. Friar Laurence develops Romeo s character through his wise personality making Romeo look stubborn. Romeo demonstrates as being stubborn when he finds out he is banished and is willing to kill himself by saying, Wert thought as young as I, Juliet thy love, an hour but married, Tybalt murdered, doting like me and like me banished, then mightst thou speak, then mightst thou tear thy hair, and fall upon the ground, as I do now, taking the measure of an unmade grave man (3.3.65 70). Tybalt would have died either way, but Romeo killed him and now he would be punished. Furthermore, Romeo let anger get to him to make him kill Tybalt. It was created in 1919 from what they call the parent counties of Gooding, Minidoka and Lincoln counties. In the 1880 s Jerome county was actually known as Alturas County, one which no longer exists. As for the name of Jerome, there is a difference of option as to where that came from. Some believe Jerome was named after the son of W. S. Kuhn whose name was Jerome Kuhn. It was amazing to see kids that were in the second grade not knowing there sounds or being able to add and subtract math correctly. They were in second grade on a first grade reading/math levels. I also worked in schools that had the highest level of kids in reading and math. Why such a split? The way the school are set up, you would actually think that the location of the schools verses the issues within the school would be flipped. Our neighboring Twin Falls county school district runs at a 55% with their charter school runs as low as 28% for free lunches. It is hard to figure out the reasons behind why the poverty levels are so high. This is a farming community and we have a lot of migrants that come in and work. • 35. My Annual Salary For Five Years The hospital would allow me to have a deferred sabbatical leave and I would receive eighty percent of my annual salary for five years. Daniel did not have a job offer because there was no available position in the whole province of Quebec. We would have to wait for an opening while we were in California. We were not too much concerned about the fact that he did not have a job opportunity in Quebec because we were very busy with the wedding, selling our condo and moving all our belongings to Los Angeles. We were just trying to do one thing at the time so we would not be overwhelmed. It was now the time for us to enjoy our trip to our new home for the year. Our Los Angeles condo was rather small. It contained a bedroom, a narrow bathroom, a kitchen and a shared dining/living room. It was recently renovated and everything was in the white and grey tones. The kitchen had a white and grey granite counter top with stainless steel appliances and all the cabinets were painted in white. The floor was the only thing that brought character to the place as it was made of stained dark oak wood. The only closet was so tiny that I tried pushing on the walls hoping it was hiding a secret space. I already got rid of half of my clothes just before leaving and now I was about to get rid of the other half. I could not believe how much we were paying for renting such a small apartment. It was cozy but too pricy for its size. At least our front door led to a beautiful garden that had a fountain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Essay about Dante’s Version of Hell In Dante s Inferno, we followed Dante as he narrates his decent and observations of hell. A wonderful part of that depiction is his descriptions of the creative yet cruel punishments that each of the different sinners receive. This story is an integral part of literary history, and even if I were to have the imagination and ability of Dante Alighieri, I don t believe I would change this tried and true version known universally. Since I have the desire to maintain the validity of Dante s version of hell in its entirety, I will explain the parts I found most intriguing, and why. His use of incredible and descript wording was impressive. Dante narrates the vile stench in which groups of men were chained to the hard floors, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sometimes, the guards would throw a bucket of water over the stones to cleanse them; there were however, prisoners underneath the other prisoners and the water would wash all of the excrement and bodily fluids down through grates and drip onto the bodies of the standing prisoners who dare not lie down and could not stand up because of the vile filth on them and around their feet (Cantor). These are only a few descriptions of the various practices of cruelty. The first sin that Dante describes is heresy. The penalty in the medieval era for heresy was often public humiliation, imprisonment or to suffer death by burning. (Cantor). The punishment for the arch heretics and those who followed them was that they be ensepulchered and to have some heated more, some less. (Alighieri). These red hot sepulchers served as a punishment for the heretics, causing burns. The archheretics firmly believed that everything died with the body therefore there was no soul. So, they were punished with the hot and crowded pokers, but they were also punished with their beliefs and they were allowed to feel what it s like to die eternally and lie and wait until the apocalypse. This punishment is one in that was more focused on inflicting a physical and bodily pain rather than a mental one. Another sin whose punishment was administered with the full intention of causing great harm was flattery. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Negativity Bias In News And Media News and media, specifically the language used by news and media outlets, has a very real effect on our consciousnesses and therefore our actions as a society. Negativity bias is very real and has a substantial effect on our overall world outlook. Similarly, how article titles are phrased drastically sways what information we retain and which articles we choose to read. It has been shown in various studies that subtle misinformation and so called, alternative facts lead to an overall shift in our consciousness as a society. Therefore, both news and media have a significant impact on our beliefs and mindset overall as a society through the employment of negativity bias, the specific phrasing of articles and their titles, and deliberate subtle misinformation to the public. Negativity bias is the concept that even when of equal intensity, things of a more negative nature have a greater effect on our psychological state and process than do positive or neutral thoughts. Examples of this include, unpleasant thought, harmful or traumatic experiences, and negative emotions, especially fear. This concept can be seen on a variety of platforms but is most evident in combat veterans, victims of violent or especially traumatic events, and, surprisingly, journalists. When we hear of PTSD we expect an image of a veteran, or a victim or some violent event like rape, seeing their parents die horribly, being a victim of a mass shooting, etc.. Yet, journalists are more likely to become ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
