Heteronormativity In Walt Disney Films
This essay will identify and discuss heteronormativity and how it exists in our society. By making
reference to relevant sources such as Steyn van Zyl, the ideals of a heteronormative society will be
explored and how they have been shaped by our social and cultural context. A recently produced Walt
Disney film will be identified which portrays these standards of heteronormative gender structures. By
analysing the film and making reference to an independent source, the background and history of this
example will also be explored to determine if and why Disney films continually perpetuate
heteronormative discourses of gender using the media.
Steyn and van Zyl (2009:3) define heteronormativity as the institutionalisation of heterosexuality and

Heteronormative discourses which exist in society can be seen in examples involving media.
Advertisements, films and television all carry some form of heteronormative construct in their content
which is exposed to large audiences of men and woman of all ages. Such heteronormativity and
gender constructs perpetuated by the media will be explored using an example of a recently released
Walt Disney film called Frozen (Buck Lee 2013). As evident in many other films created by the
Disney franchise, the film s characters are made to depict a rich and exclusive heterosexual landscape
(Martin Kazyak 2009:332).
The film Frozen (Buck Lee 2013) follows a plot about a princess who goes on a journey with the help
of companions to find her estranged sister, whose magical powers that control ice and snow have
confined the kingdom in an eternal winter. Although majority of the film s storyline does not make
reference to heteronormative discourses, there are many scenes and songs performed in the film which
appear to perpetuate heterosexual and ideal gender constructs. This is portrayed both by the creation of
specific body images of the male and

The Main Goal Of An Artist
Similar to all great writers and innovators, the main goal of an artist is to spark a creative perspective
in the audience. Sarah Ruhl s oddly blunt play, Eurydice, was meant to open up our minds and create
an outlook that has never been achieved before. Her intent was to keep us on our toes and read
between the lines in order to find the hidden truths in each line. The simplicity of the script was meant
to be a little strange and dull, but by doing this Ruhl entered a realm of playwriting that has not been
accomplished before. Usually, in the performances we watch we are bombarded with long, complex
sentences that leave the audience confused. The vocabulary used is always either outdated or too
complicated for many people to understand quickly. However, in this place Ruhl took the opposite
approach and chose short and simple sentences, leaving more room for interpretation. By making each
line somewhat awkward and dull, Ruhl engages the audiences attention in order to make sense of the
words. Many factors could have motivated Ruhl to write her play in such fashion. For example, when
I was reading the play I connected her style of writing to artists and poets of the 1960 s, like Bob
Dylan and Jim Morrison, who had such a beautiful yet simple play on words. Her outlandish sentences
probably made no sense to someone with a closed mind, this related directly to how the Dylan and
Morrison were perceived in their time as well. Many people didn t understand or allow

Blue Ridge Mill is a wood mill owned by Worldwide Paper Company and supplies wood pulp for the
company for use in paper production. Blue Ridge Mill bought its wood supply from Shenandoah Mill
s excess production of shortwood that was processed from its longwood supplies. In 2006, Bob

As a result, the cost of debt is 5.88% and is calculated as follows:
The cost of equity can be calculated by using the capital asset pricing model (CAPM). CAPM requires
that a market risk free rate, the market risk premium, and the beta for the company. The market risk
premium (6%) and the company beta (1.1) is given directly and can be seen in tables 2 and 3 below.
Government bonds are used for the risk free rate. Since 10 year corporate bonds are used for the cost
of debt, the 10 year Treasury Bond of 5.60% will be selected as the risk free rate. The 10 year bonds
are also a good match for the project duration, which is between 5 and 10 years. The cost of equity of
11.20% is than calculated as follows:
With the cost of debt and the cost of equity calculated, the WACC is calculated below. The cost of
debt is further discounted by one minus the tax rate since the interest paid on debt is treated as an
expense prior to being taxed.
Table 2: Interest Rates December 2006
Table 3: Company Financial Information
Using the calculated WACC and the company s hurdle rate for this project, under Bob Prescott s cost
savings and additional revenues assumption, the project s IRR is now greater than the hurdle rate.
Furthermore, the net present value (NPV), payback period and the additional value added to the
earnings per share (EPS) are shown in Table 4 below. Using just these figures, the project should be
accepted.

FISHER GENERAL MOTORS AND THE NATURE OF THE FIRM* BENJAMIN KLEIN
University of California, Los Angeles Abstract After working well for more than 5 years, the Fisher
Body General Motors (GM) contract for the supply of automobile bodies broke down when GM s
demand for Fisher s bodies unexpectedly increased dramatically. This pushed the imperfect
contractual arrangement between the parties outside the self enforcing range and led Fisher to take
advantage of the fact that GM was contractually obligated to purchase bodies on a cost plus basis.
Fisher increased its short term profit by failing to make the investments required by GM in a plant
located near GM production facilities in Flint, Michigan. Vertical integration, with an associated ...

Fisher then refused to make the necessary capital investments required to produce bodies efficiently
for GM, in particular refusing to build an important body plant close to a GM production facility in
Flint, Michigan. These contractual difficulties were the primary reason GM decided in 1926 to
vertically integrate with Fisher Body. The marked change in Fisher s behavior between the early 1919
24 period and the later 1925 26 period provides important insights into the basic economic forces at
work in contractual arrangements. Similar to a biologist 3 Surveys of these studies are provided in

Allusions In Dracula
Hidden in Bram Stoker s Dracula contains abundant amounts of allusions and social commentaries.
These rhetorical devices help connect the reader to the experience of the novel and allow them to have
a more in depth understanding of the characters, and usage of religious allusions abets the reader in
achieving that goal. In the worldwide masterpiece Dracula, Stoker uses religious, mythical, and
archetypical allusions to depict Dracula as a peculiar and distinct creature as well as providing social
commentary for current problems during the late Victorian era.
Dracula is seen as the evil mastermind and the villain in archetypal terms. He also has copious
amounts of vampire characteristics; Dracula is described as brute, and more than brute: ... Show more

Many of the symbols in the novel are actually important social commentary during the late Victorian
period. For example, many religious objects Dracula shows weakness to shows the chasm between the
religions of Anglican and Catholic Church, as Crucifixes, communion wafers, and convents are not,
despite the bulk of critical attention reading them thusly, exclusively Catholic (Bowles 2). Stoker is
insinuating a possible mending of relations between the two religions. Also, the usage of religions
items shows that science that the West uses cannot usurp Dracula; instead, the hero has to look into
superstition for the cure. In this sense, science is portrayed as a dangerous entity and many old,
superstitious beliefs are reconsidered. Simultaneously, Harker is seen as having a sense of
condescending and untrustworthy attitude towards the east and their superstition, as shown a crucifix
he has been taught to regard such things as in some measure idolatrous (Stoker 9). Stoker also seems
ignorant of Eastern culture, as he does not know the meaning of eve of St. George s Day (Stoker 9).
Also, from the fact that Roman Catholic populations within Ireland simply do not function in London ,
it is understandable why Harker sees another religion in a negative light. (Bowles 1) In the real world,
Stoker is calling for reconciliation of religion, while in the novel, Stoker shows the reason Dracula
cannot die easily. By forcing to use other cultures and their teachings, Stoker shows how others could
have the answers and depict Dracula as an interesting

China And China Trade Agreement
Abstract Nowadays, China plays a more and more important role in world economy due to its large
population and rapid economy growth. Canada and China are both APEC member, Canada is one of
the most developed countries, and China is a developing country that is essential to the world
economy. Therefore, by investigating the impact of trade agreement on relationship between the two
countries could provide some insights of whether countries should join free trade agreement when
they have opportunity. At the same time, by reviewing the rate of GDP growth for Canada and China
could give us some information about how much each country gains from trade and who can benefit
more from free trade. Under the globalization, it is very rare and costly for a country to produce
everything she needs; the variations of productive factors allow countries to produce in their
comparative advantages and trade with each other. In this way, countries should know how to allocate
their resources efficiently to achieve optimal result during time in trade. Introduction Given the rapid
economic growth of China and its large population, along with globalization, China became the
second largest economy in the world and the second largest trading partner of Canada. With its
increasing importance and essential role in global economy, it is critical to understand that the trade
relationship between Canada and China and the factors that affect the trade volume. With this basic

In The Shadow Of Blackbirds
In The Shadow Of Blackbirds by Cat Winters is a compelling story about romance, and the afterlife.
This book review will cover the title significance, a summary, setting, main problem, main characters,
a memorable passage, and an evaluation. First, the title significance of the book. The title has two
meanings. One is that the blackbirds are Stephen s killers since he imagines them as blackbirds. It also
could be about how the soldiers in WWI saw dead people being eaten alive by blackbirds/crows. It
could also be a combination since Stephan did fight in WWI. Second, a summary of the book. The
main character is Mary Shelley Black. Her father was taken away from her after he was thought to be

The World Of Sports Arenas
Introduction
In the world of sports arenas there is one that stands as a pivotal high point above almost all other
stadiums. The University of Southern California s mammoth of a stadium, the Los Angeles Memorial
Coliseum is one of the biggest sports stadiums in college football, and has been a standard by which
others are judge. Being declared a land mark by the state of California after nearly 80 years of use, this
structure has had many different uses other than its current purpose of housing one of the most
dominate teams in college football, the Trojans. Since its opening day the stadium has set world record
in attendance and then beaten the same records hosting some of the most famous people in the world.
(Coliseum History) Throughout the 92 years of the stadiums existences many changes have taken
place and the facility has had to adapt to the new century. Advances in construction and design have
allowed the Trojans to stay current and competitive with the new stadiums. One thing remains, and
that is the fact that USC Trojan fans love the unique feel and history that has been made throughout
the walls of the stadium.
History of facility Erected in 1923 the Trojans did not waste time until the first footballs game was
played. On October 6th the team faced off against Pomona College finding their first home victory in
the new stadium. In the first opening game the Trojans played in front of a 12,836 people which was a
relatively small number of people considering they

MTSS Case Study
The lower leg consists of two bones: one large bone called the Tibia and one small bone called the
Fibula. The tibia is located on the anterior component of the leg and is the common place of pain for
individuals suffering Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome. Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (MTSS) also
referred to as Shin Splints (SS), is the most frequent overuse injury in the lower leg in endurance
running athletes and those of military personnel (Craig, 2008). MTSS, however, specifically refers to
the pain experienced on the posteromedial tibia border (inflammation of muscles, tendons, and bone
tissue around the tibia) while exercising. MTSS is the result of a repetitive action, especially in
individuals with overly pronated feet. Although, MTSS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because the specific etiology of MTSS is indefinable, it is difficult for health care professionals in
making treatment conclusions. There are five chief etiological theories for MTTS described in current
literature: fascial traction, tight and/or fatigued plantar flexors, tibial bending, lack of shock
absorption, and excessive pronation.
Bouche and Johnson investigated fascial traction, by inserting strain gauges in cadavers to measure
tension on the tibial fascial attachment at the medial tibial crest. The authors concluded that fascial
tension may play a role in the pathomechanics of MTSS, and circumferential taping did not dampen
this tension (Craig, 2009).
Milgrom et al investigated tight/fatigued plantar flexors by inserting strain gauge staples into the
medial aspect of 4 subjects midtibial diaphysis, then measured gastrocnemius isokinetic torque before
and after vigorous physical activity. The authors found a significant correlation between
gastrocnemius fatigue and an increase in bone strain. They concluded that a fatigued state of the
gastrocnemius increases bone strains in the tibia well above (26% 29%) those in rested individuals

Tool Use And Behavior Of Wild And Captive Capuchins
Tool Use and Behavior of Wild and Captive Capuchins
Introduction
The capuchin monkeys are known as one of, if not the most intelligent monkeys of all New World
species. They reside naturally in the forests of southern Mexico, the West Indies, and Central and
South America, but can be found in zoos and captivity around the globe. Capuchins regularly eat
fruits, insects, and nuts, and spend the majority of their day foraging for food. Capuchins travel and
live in groups, residing in the treetops and canopy of the forest; however, the monkeys will travel
along the forest floor as well. They have prehensile tails that are the same length as their body, have
opposable thumbs, and primarily range from light to dark brown with white facial markings.
Tool Use Among Wild Capuchins While reports of tool use in wild capuchins are moderately scarce,
there is no doubt that tools play an important role in the capuchin lifestyle. The most common tool
used amongst capuchins are stones, which predominantly aid in palm nut cracking and digging., Palm
nuts and other enclosed foods have protective coatings surrounding the sustenance held inside. To
break open and remove the outer shell, they place the palm nut onto a boulder or large flat stone,
called anvils, and bang a smaller stone against the nut until cracking occurs. The stone has a hammer
like effect and is sufficient in cracking open palm nuts. Each of the capuchins crack palm nuts through
various methods of efficiency, and is more

Harriet Beecher Stowe
Harriet Beecher Stowe is the person I choose for my civil war essay. I choose her for many reasons.
One of the reasons is her background is pretty interesting because she had ten siblings. Another reason
I choose her was because she wanted to end slavery which I think was very important back then. She
also wrote a book about slavery that opened the eyes of people to the problems involving slavery.
These are the reasons I choose Harriet Beecher Stowe. Harriet Beecher Stowe was born in Linchfiled,
1811 and died in 1896. She came from a family of seven brothers and three girls and her as the sixth
child. Her sister s names were Catharine Esther Beecher, Mary Foote Beecher Perkins, and Isabella
Holmes Beecher Hooker and her brother s names ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Harriet always loved to read. She read her favorite book, Sir Walter Scott s Lvanhoe seven times in
one month at age 12. She also loved to write. Harriet believed that the purpose in life was to write. In
1852, Harriet wrote the bestseller Uncle Tom s Cabin . This book was about the injustices of slavery. It
was first published in an antislavery newspaper in 40 installments. The first day it appeared in book
form, it sold 3,000 copies also in 1852. By the outbreak of the Civil War, Harriet s book sold over
$3,000,000. Still to this day she has been the most famous Beecher in her family. Some more
interesting facts I have about her family are that Harriet worked at her sister s school. It was there that
she met a handsome man named Calvin E. Stowe. He was a college professor and Harriet ended up
falling in love with him. They married and had seven children. Prior to her children she wrote short
stories to earn money for her and her husband. After the kids were born she still went on writing
novels, essays, children s books, biographies and more. When Harriet would write, she would write at
the kitchen table while the kids ran in and out of the

When people hear the label digital natives or millennials a typical shared though by many is that they,
the young people that these labels are referring to, are good with technology usually this assumed
technological gift is equated to something ridiculous such as they are born with a cell phone in their

assumptions are often made in jest, there does seem to be a bit of underlying belief to them; this belief

basic programing of a BB 8 droid (spl.org). The program was scheduled from noon to 2 pm, and when
I arrived at 11:30 am there was already a child and parent waiting for the program to begin. The
program was a part of teen service learning which is a partnership between the library and high
schools where students receive service learning credits while learning valuable skills. There were
seven high school students who were completely in charge of creating and running the program; they
were supervised by one of the Teen Services Librarians who only stepped in when one of the teens
requested she do so. I wanted to see how the children interacted with the droids were they excited to
learn to program, or were they more excited to just play with them. I also wanted to see how the
parents and teens interacted with the children while they were in control of the droids what kind of
instruction methods they would use, how much independence they would give the children, and how
they would react to the children who were uninterested in learning to program and just wanted to play

The Great Debaters Analysis
The movie, The Great Debaters, takes place in the 1930s and explores the struggles of three students
from Wiley College s debate team. The first character introduced is the youngest student from the
team, 14 year old, James Farmer Jr. He is an ambitious young man who strives to live up to his father
s expectations. James struggles with fear throughout the movie. He is sheltered and does not
understand the severity of the racial conflict of the time. This trait is evident in the film in two key
scenes. The first is when his family is out for a drive and his father accidently hits a white man s pig.
James s father is very cautious during this interaction and James witnesses the incident from the car.
This interaction has a major impact on James and gives him a greater understanding of the racial
conflict. The second incident occurs when James is unsuccessful in his first debate. When given other
opportunities to debate, he questions himself and fears failure. This fear plays a role in the debate team
s future competitions. James s fear can be linked to Bandura s observational learning theory. He
observes how his father cowers down to the white farmers and learns that he too should fear whites.
Bandura s learning theory comes into play because James is learning his behavior through
observation. This fear of whites is instilled in him and is evident through out the movie. The second
link that can be made to Bandura is his theory of self efficacy. James is not given the

Deception And Concealment By William Shakespeare s...
From physical disguise and elaborate ploys to the perplexing notion of love, deception and
concealment are both themes that drive the storyline of Shakespeare s Twelfth Night. Disguises and
mistaken identities allow the characters in this tangled play to obtain what they desire and forge a
more substantial path for themselves in life. Whether disguise is deceptive or deception is disguised,
concealment is employed by nearly every character. Duke Orsino asserts a fictitious love for the
countess Olivia, claiming it is real, Viola conceals her identity by assuming a disguise in order to
assure her safety, Feste acts as a fool to keep his place in Olivia s court and reveal truths about those
around him, while Malvolio acts as something he is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, instead of respecting her time of mourning and caring about her pain, Orsino twists this
tragedy into something that might benefit his courtship: O, she that hath a heart of that fine frame / To
pay this debt of love but to a brother, / How will she love, when the rich golden shaft / Hath killed the
flock of all affections else (1.1.32 35). Orsino s feelings for Olivia beg the question of whether or not
love has to do with the person who is loved or the lover s imagination: So full of shapes is fancy / That
it alone is high fantastical (1.1.14 15). Orsino often describes Olivia s beauty and the effect it has on
him, but he never provides persuasive reasons for why he loves her. He declares that he suffers
inescapable pain, yet he gives the impression that he enjoys it to an extent, that he cannot, doesn t
know how to be, without it. The authenticity of his love is even further invalidated at the end of the
play when he quickly shifts affections from Olivia to Viola.
Viola carries out, arguably, the most obvious deception in the play: a physical disguise. Viola emerges
in the story after a violent shipwreck has whisked away her brother, Sebastian, and left her stranded
ashore in a strange land. She quickly learns from the captain of the ship that she is in Illyria and,
making the connection, inquires about the wealthy bachelor Orsino. To assemble a new life for herself

Bolshevik Party Essay
The Bolshevik party was based on Marxist ideals, ideals which sought to rid society of class conflict
and create an egalitarian society. After the fall of the provisional government, the Bolsheviks were
now able to implement an economic policy of their own, introducing a form of communism called
War Communism . It was a form of strict communism that, amongst many things, took money out of
circulation and banned private enterprise. It should, therefore, seem surprising that the Bolshevik
government got rid of this policy, a policy which espoused many Marxist principles of destroying
interclass conflict through the abolition of private enterprise, and replacing it with the NEP, a policy
which at first glance, may resemble something much more capitalist orientated than would one expect
of a party based on communist ideals. The NEP was a policy that reintroduced a free market and
capitalism, both subject to state control . This may have therefore have been a step back from
achieving a Marxist utopia in the Russian State but it can be argued that the continuance of war
communism would have ultimately led to the utter economic collapse of the Russian state and the
NEP prevented this from occurring.
A major criticism of the NEP was that it simply was not a policy ... Show more content on

Finding Meaning In Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha
While writing about finding meaning in life, James Van Praagh said, We have all been placed on this
earth to discover our own path, and we will never be happy if we live in someone else s idea of life. In
Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha, a man goes on a quest to figure out who he wants to be and what he
wants to believe in. He meets up with old friends and encounters new people throughout the novel.
With that said, Siddhartha could not have found meaning in his life without separating from his
friends at some point. Hermann Hesse suggests that friendships need to be suspended in order to find
the right path in life, as shown by Siddhartha s friendships with Govinda and Kamala.

living with her many possessions. Once Siddhartha realized that they wanted different things from

leaving. She allows the bird to fly away just like she lets Siddhartha leave without going after him.

Toyotomi Hideyoshi s Life In Medieval Japan
In the sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries, Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa

society as those who had the power to resolve conflicts and keep the peace. Himself a samurai, and
successful military leader and administrator, Hideyoshi also brought his power onto the social prestige
of the high nobility, eventually legitimating himself through the title of kampaku, or imperial regent.
Just over four hundred years earlier, at the height of samurai power, amidst the chaos and uncertainty
of civil war, the populace of medieval Japan lived under the samurai regime. For more than seven
centuries Japan was dominated by this military caste, and today it still greatly influences social moral
and spirit. Therefore, it is necessary to some degree to study and understand the actions of the samurai,
as it is from this position that Hideyoshi ultimately succeeded in winning the tenka (the realm) and
thereby serving as its ruling

Slumdog Millionaire Film Techniques
Danny Boyles film Slumdog Millionaire follows two brothers from the Juhu slum in Mumbai as they
face the trials and tributes of growing up in poverty. Although Salim, the elder brother, is given the
same childhood experiences and trauma as his younger brother Jamal, his drive and hunger for power
lead him to a life of crime, corruption and misconduct. These actions later have a detrimental effect on
his relationship with Jamal, which in turn, becomes his demise. Boyle uses a range of effective film
techniques to develop Salim s growth as a character which helps to communicate the idea that
ambition can enhance an individual or be the reason for their downfall. Throughout the film, Boyle
uses the varying stages of Salim s life through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This in itself begins to twist and corrupt Salim as he is trying to become powerful by acting
controlling and aggressive to the other children, which, in turn, detaches him for their group as they
consider him, controlling and greedy almost like he s Maman s pet . Boyle s use of these film
techniques to show how Salim s ambition is being used against him. Maman see s this hunger for
power and control in such a young child and uses it to harness control over Salim, moulding Salim
into a replica of himself. Boyle continues to develop these ideas in Salim s adolescents as his childish
naivety is replaced by the defiance and neglect for others that is brought about by the denial of his
childhood trauma. At this point in his life, Salim has changed a lot due to the effects of the tough life
he has had. His childhood trauma has simply been pushed to the back of his mind, but these forgotten
memories are constantly biting at the back of his thoughts further corrupting his ideas of morality and
his hunger for power. Salim is face to face with his idol again. When Maman first enters the room a
dutch angle is used to show the confusion and shock from both parties. Salim and Maman have not
seen each other for years and Salim has changed a lot in that time. Maman and Salim are seen in a mid
shot together. Salim is no longer looking up to Maman as he now

Tramadol and suddenly find themselves suffering with the withdrawal symptoms. It is actually a
central nervous system sedative that should not be used with other drugs that can weaken the central

this drug and in fact, like any medications, if used while drinking can actually overwhelm a person s

constipation and even seizures. These side effects can generate a very unfriendly occurrence if this
medication is physically abused. This fact actually places it very low on the lists of prescription drugs

Sylvia Plath Daddy
Relationships can be hard to manage, especially when it comes to family. The poem Daddy by Sylvia
Plath is about a cynical father who died and left his daughter a wreck. Although the father was a bad
man, his daughter thought the world of him. The speaker of the poem hates her father because she
wants to be like him even though he was not a good man. At a few different places throughout the
poem, the speaker states that her father was anything but a good man. She describes a photo she has of
him in front of a blackboard with, A cleft in your chin instead of your foot/But no less a devil for that,
no not (53 54) which implies that her father had a cleft, much like the cleft foot the devil is commonly
pictured with, and it didn t make him any less of a devil due to its improper location. ... Show more

Summer Break Research Paper
Why should schools summer vacation stay the same? Some educators believe that summer break is
too long and we won t remember what we have been taught. Unlike them most students enjoy summer
break and do not want it to end. Long summers provide us with relaxation, more sleep, and extra time
to go to different places. Therefore, why should summer break be shortened?
With all these hot summer days, it lets us have time to sit down and watch a movie. Relaxation is one
of the best factors about long summer breaks. You re able to go out and get a facial without having to
schedule it on a certain day and certain time. You work on your time not anyone else s. You re able to

The African-American Odyssey Essay
The African American Odyssey
The Promise of Reconstruction, 1865 1868
The emancipation of the African slave who was now disconnected from their traditions and way of life
after nearly 300 years, is seemingly a great gush from the dam to the ebbs and flows of the struggle.
The end of slavery as we know it, presented a ball of mixed emotions among the nation; North and
SOUTH. Some slaves were grossly ecstatic to be free. For example, when a slave girl named Caddy,
from Goodman, Mississippi found she was free, went to her mistress, flipped up her dress and told her
Kiss my ass! On the contrary, some slaves were apprehensive of being free. For example, one elderly
slave woman reportedly said, I ain no free nigger! I is got a marster ... Show more content on

Sharecropping became a sort of ebb in the river of the African American progression as far as freedom
was concerned. Presented as labor contracts by white land owners, the institution of slavery was
extended under a cloud of debt. In which, the black family, oft times became debtors due to the lack of
honesty on the account of their white lender. Aside from family, among African Americans, the black
church became the most important institution. Not only did it fill deep spiritual and inspirational
needs, it offered enriching music, provided charity and compassion to those in need, developed
community and political leaders, and was free of white supervision. With the end of slavery, blacks
who then had to attend services with white parishioners who treated them as second class Christians,
could now organize and attend their own churches. The advent of the black church definitely brought
about a flow in the river of struggle for African Americans. Education was another flow in the river of
struggle and a critical means of survival amongst people of color. It coincided alongside freedom. All
who were versed in education of all sorts were summoned to teach the freedmen and their children.
Teachers from all walks showed. Classes were held in churches, old slave markets, stables, taverns,
homes, and former slave cabins. Funding came from various religious and political organizations and
the Freedmen s Bureau. Although white teachers helped a

Death And The King s Horseman Analysis
Sarah Goodson
Dr. Babcock
ENG 239
28 September 2017
Prompt 1
In Wole Soyinka s play, Death and the King s Horseman, the English presence in Nigeria is well
established. As each scene goes by the audience can feel European colonialism lurking heavily in the
background. With this English influence on the Yoruba people the community is swept with
unsteadiness and conflict. The dominant events in Soyinka s play symbolize a larger conflict; although
the English believe they are shedding light and bringing progress to the Nigerians, the Nigerians don t
welcome these foreigners and only wish to continue their cultural ways in peace. Soyinka argues that
although the English believe what they are doing is necessary, they are the ones who are intruding on
someone else s culture and they should respect that, no matter how uncivilized or odd it may seem.
Not accepting and misunderstanding one another s culture is a leading conflict in this play. The Yoruba
community has very different beliefs on death compared to the English. When speaking of death,
Elesin states: When the hour comes watch me dance along the narrowing path gazed by the soles of
my great precursors. My soul is eager (Soyinka, 10). In contrast, Jane believes that this view is
nonsense. Life should never be thrown away deliberately (Soyinka, 42) The Yoruba community
celebrates death and welcomes the afterlife. While the English fear death. This misunderstanding and
lack of acceptance of cultural differences leads Pilkings to act on what he thinks is best, when it is not
what is best for the community.
Throughout the novel the Yoruba culture continually is disrespected by the colonists who invade their
community. In the play Pilkings and his wife Jane are dressed in egungun costumes which they
confiscated from cult leaders. Amusa pleads with Pilkings and Jane to take them off. They respond
saying You don t believe this nonsense do you? I thought you were a good Muslim. ( Soyinka, 19)
Jane and Pilkings are surprised that Amusa can still respect the Yoruba culture while believing in
something different. Amusa can t stand it any longer and leaves saying I treat egungun with respect
before running off ( Soyinka, 20). Amusa represents what Soyinka is

What Was The Revolt Of 1857 Essay
Introduction In the beginning of the nineteenth century, British claimed the title and position as the
world s greatest imperial power. It had convinced itself, after its victory in the Napoleonic wars, that
the British were the chosen race to rule the world and bring about the western civilizations to the back.
This belief of possessing supreme authority is what led British to conquer its remaining colonies, one
of which was the great India. Its quest to conquer India under the workings of the title of the East
India Company is what led to one of the greatest battles in the world history. This battle is termed as
the patriotic national war of independence by the Indians, whereas the British call it as the single

Philosophers During The Age Of Enlightenment
Today s society would be different if it weren t for the four French philosophers for the individual
freedom, freedom in government, religion, economy, and gender equality. The four great philosophers
were John Locke, Voltaire, Adam Smith, and Mary Wollstonecraft who changed our society and
shaped the capitalistic democratic world that we live in today. These philosophers lived in a time of
new ideas, known as the Age of Enlightenment. These are the main ideas of the enlightenment.
John Locke (1632 1704) was the main of the philosophers. At the time that time, he lived in an
absolute monarchy. That was when the king or queen ruled and sometimes asked for advice. When the

As I ve watched this city grow old, I ve also seen how this community has built me piece by piece to

quality of life. It s important to the person who serves as well as the recipient. It s the way in which we

Informative Essay Courage
Informative Essay: Courage What feeling emerges in our hearts when we hear the word Courage ?
Profound respect, fear, regards or may be...nothing. This word has a long history and its starting point
is from the Latin word coraticum. The root cor signifies heart . Recently, after the world entered

speaking it is a respectable action. The topic of this essay is the explanation of the contemporary

explanation of the use of this term is to portray individuals who have a quality of thinking that permits
them to face risk without apprehension, which is likewise alluded to as fearlessness or daring. The
definitions of this word are various; however since the world around us changes, the definitions

Ring Contraction Of A Ring
RING CONTRACTION
All the carbons of a ring are equivalent (a ring has no ends like an open chain compound does),1 ring
compounds can be classified as either monocyclic or polycyclic compounds.
As the word contraction means shrinking, ring contraction can be defined as the process of shrinking
larger ring compounds which are less strained into a more strained smaller ring structures. Instead of
making small strained ring by chemical reaction which is very strenuous to do, ring contraction is a
process of easing the stress of forming smaller strained ring on their own.
A ring contraction reaction is a type of organic reaction in which usually a hydrocarbon ring is
reduced in size.2 Ring contraction reactions are an important method to increase molecular
complexity in a single step, because, in many cases, the reorganization of the bonds occurs with a high
level of selectivity, affording products not easily accessible by other synthetic approaches.2. and 3.
The smallest ring compound possible is cyclopropane, this is so because we need at least three carbon
atoms to form a ring structure. Cyclopropane is the most strained ring compound due to the fact that
its carbon atoms are sp3 hybridized, sp3 carbon have an angle of 1090, but the carbon atoms in
cyclopropane are strained in an angle of 600. Scheme 1: Mechanism of a typical ring contraction

In The Veldt by Ray Bradbury, the parents, George and Lydia are at fault for their own death because
they didn t decrease the screen time for their kids Wendy, and Peter earlier in their lives. Which could
have gotten them addicted over time. I also found this website named Limiting screen time for kids.
And that website tells me that as a child grows a parent will need to decide how much media to let
your child use each day, also, what websites are appropriate for them. In the story it states that the
children were sobbing and screaming when their parents took away their technology, this caused the
kids to get mad. This other website Technology Addiction states that Technology addiction, sometimes
called internet addiction, or Internet Use Disorder is a fairly new phenomenon in the world. Peter told
his dad to call a psychologist to fix the nursery room when they don t need it. Usually kids don t call a
psychiatrist so this proves that the kids were addicted to technology.

Lottery Is Good or Not
Is lottery a good idea?
These days, a lot of people play lottery and spend a certain amount of money on it while few of them
earn back what they spend. Someone says lottery is a kind of tax collected by the government on
peoples luck and desire to be rich. In another aspect, lottery is also gambling, and it could make
people to be a millionaire in a night if the person is lucky enough, however, it has a negative effect
that it causes inequality, crimes and so on. So lottery is not a positive idea to most of the lottery
players and to the stabilization of the whole society.

It takes out that spending time on lottery is useless and a waste of time and human energy. Lottery can
cause a negative atmosphere, or say, mind in the society. However, there exists some opponents who
think that lottery has little influence on people s daily life and it makes no sense.
On explaining this point in detail, I want to define the negative atmosphere at first. The atmosphere is
the laziness and workless of the society. As a human being, we all have known that human has its
natural characteristics and weakness and playing lottery will develop the weakness and promote it to
be a social issue. Laziness is one of the biggest weaknesses of human, and people enjoy using the
leisure on entertainment or relax themselves. In addition, everyone prefers to get what one wants
without doing effort. The atmosphere here refers to the laziness among workers and the social
members would prefer to wait at home for their big fortune. By playing lottery, one can be a
millionaire in a night even one does nothing at all. Then the natural weakness of laziness begins to
develop, people tend to lazy at work and a negative atmosphere is formed.
Lottery is basically not a private thing; it has side effect to other persons. There is a belief in most
peoples mind that lottery is the person s own business and has nothing to do with other persons.
If so, we can point out that smoking, drinking and using drugs are all the persons own business, but
the social effects and

Why We Still Need Affirmitive Action
Why we still need affirmative action
Because of the complex nature of the discussion on affirmative action and the controversies and the
emotion surrounding it, it is imperative to first recap on the causes of race and inequality in the United
States of America. The policies on affirmative action were proposed as a fractional remedy for the
socio economic impacts of past and present disadvantage faced by certain groups in the population,
especially with regard to biases on gender and race. Such disadvantages ought to be addressed, in a
society that has built its international pedestal on justice and equality, for proportionality to be existent
within its borders. This needs demonstration that the sharing of certain advantages in the United States
is not consistent with the principles underlying just distribution( Anderson, 2004).
It often seems that such determination depends greatly on divergent views on principles that build
occurrence of justice and less about the etiology of the inequalities. Those who advocate for
affirmative action are considered to champion for equality of outcome whereas those who disfavor this
policy are deemed as supporting equality of opportunity. The latter, argued further, is seen to translate
into discrimination within the private enterprise in the atmosphere of a free market society(Crosby,
2000).
Nonetheless, the impact of the divergent views on the debate on affirmative action is much less than
assumed. First, it is important to acknowledge

Bank Of Americ An Ethical Dilemma
An ethical dilemma plays an important role in business. Ethical dilemma moral situation where a
choice have to be made between two equally unwanted alternatives. While a business dilemma
according to Fernando (2009) is when the decision maker of organization meets a choice between two
or more variants that will have a different influence on income, competitiveness and shareholders of
organization. As the chairman and CEO of Bank of America, Lewis takes a responsibility to instruct
the shareholders about the adverse conditions with Merrill Lynch merger. The same applies goes to
Thain who deluded shareholders about financial problems in Merrill Lynch and the bonuses paid.
Another point is that Thain and Lewis pay out bonuses before acquisition of the deal. On the other
point of view, Lewis had responsibility to the overall well being of the U.S and global financial
system. Another major crisis will affect Bank of America shareholders and customers. No matter what
Lewis chooses, anyway it will influence to a lot of people. The best choice was to choose one that will
minimize the damages. Obviously, Lewis and Thain should not pay out bonuses before acquisition.
They acted unethically, but if Thain reveal the bonuses before the acquisition, it will impact on his
employees who might have lose their jobs, shareholders who might have lose money ... Show more

  • 2. Heteronormativity In Walt Disney Films This essay will identify and discuss heteronormativity and how it exists in our society. By making reference to relevant sources such as Steyn van Zyl, the ideals of a heteronormative society will be explored and how they have been shaped by our social and cultural context. A recently produced Walt Disney film will be identified which portrays these standards of heteronormative gender structures. By analysing the film and making reference to an independent source, the background and history of this example will also be explored to determine if and why Disney films continually perpetuate heteronormative discourses of gender using the media. Steyn and van Zyl (2009:3) define heteronormativity as the institutionalisation of heterosexuality and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Heteronormative discourses which exist in society can be seen in examples involving media. Advertisements, films and television all carry some form of heteronormative construct in their content which is exposed to large audiences of men and woman of all ages. Such heteronormativity and gender constructs perpetuated by the media will be explored using an example of a recently released Walt Disney film called Frozen (Buck Lee 2013). As evident in many other films created by the Disney franchise, the film s characters are made to depict a rich and exclusive heterosexual landscape (Martin Kazyak 2009:332). The film Frozen (Buck Lee 2013) follows a plot about a princess who goes on a journey with the help of companions to find her estranged sister, whose magical powers that control ice and snow have confined the kingdom in an eternal winter. Although majority of the film s storyline does not make reference to heteronormative discourses, there are many scenes and songs performed in the film which appear to perpetuate heterosexual and ideal gender constructs. This is portrayed both by the creation of specific body images of the male and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Main Goal Of An Artist Similar to all great writers and innovators, the main goal of an artist is to spark a creative perspective in the audience. Sarah Ruhl s oddly blunt play, Eurydice, was meant to open up our minds and create an outlook that has never been achieved before. Her intent was to keep us on our toes and read between the lines in order to find the hidden truths in each line. The simplicity of the script was meant to be a little strange and dull, but by doing this Ruhl entered a realm of playwriting that has not been accomplished before. Usually, in the performances we watch we are bombarded with long, complex sentences that leave the audience confused. The vocabulary used is always either outdated or too complicated for many people to understand quickly. However, in this place Ruhl took the opposite approach and chose short and simple sentences, leaving more room for interpretation. By making each line somewhat awkward and dull, Ruhl engages the audiences attention in order to make sense of the words. Many factors could have motivated Ruhl to write her play in such fashion. For example, when I was reading the play I connected her style of writing to artists and poets of the 1960 s, like Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison, who had such a beautiful yet simple play on words. Her outlandish sentences probably made no sense to someone with a closed mind, this related directly to how the Dylan and Morrison were perceived in their time as well. The market risk premium (6%) and the company beta (1.1) is given directly and can be seen in tables 2 and 3 below. Government bonds are used for the risk free rate. Since 10 year corporate bonds are used for the cost of debt, the 10 year Treasury Bond of 5.60% will be selected as the risk free rate. The 10 year bonds are also a good match for the project duration, which is between 5 and 10 years. This pushed the imperfect contractual arrangement between the parties outside the self enforcing range and led Fisher to take advantage of the fact that GM was contractually obligated to purchase bodies on a cost plus basis. These rhetorical devices help connect the reader to the experience of the novel and allow them to have a more in depth understanding of the characters, and usage of religious allusions abets the reader in achieving that goal. In the worldwide masterpiece Dracula, Stoker uses religious, mythical, and archetypical allusions to depict Dracula as a peculiar and distinct creature as well as providing social commentary for current problems during the late Victorian era. Dracula is seen as the evil mastermind and the villain in archetypal terms. He also has copious amounts of vampire characteristics; Dracula is described as brute, and more than brute: ... For example, many religious objects Dracula shows weakness to shows the chasm between the religions of Anglican and Catholic Church, as Crucifixes, communion wafers, and convents are not, despite the bulk of critical attention reading them thusly, exclusively Catholic (Bowles 2). Stoker is insinuating a possible mending of relations between the two religions. Also, the usage of religions items shows that science that the West uses cannot usurp Dracula; instead, the hero has to look into superstition for the cure. In this sense, science is portrayed as a dangerous entity and many old, superstitious beliefs are reconsidered. Simultaneously, Harker is seen as having a sense of condescending and untrustworthy attitude towards the east and their superstition, as shown a crucifix he has been taught to regard such things as in some measure idolatrous (Stoker 9). Stoker also seems ignorant of Eastern culture, as he does not know the meaning of eve of St. George s Day (Stoker 9). Also, from the fact that Roman Catholic populations within Ireland simply do not function in London , it is understandable why Harker sees another religion in a negative light. Canada and China are both APEC member, Canada is one of the most developed countries, and China is a developing country that is essential to the world economy. Therefore, by investigating the impact of trade agreement on relationship between the two countries could provide some insights of whether countries should join free trade agreement when they have opportunity. Because the specific etiology of MTSS is indefinable, it is difficult for health care professionals in making treatment conclusions. There are five chief etiological theories for MTTS described in current literature: fascial traction, tight and/or fatigued plantar flexors, tibial bending, lack of shock absorption, and excessive pronation. Bouche and Johnson investigated fascial traction, by inserting strain gauges in cadavers to measure tension on the tibial fascial attachment at the medial tibial crest. The authors concluded that fascial tension may play a role in the pathomechanics of MTSS, and circumferential taping did not dampen this tension (Craig, 2009). Milgrom et al investigated tight/fatigued plantar flexors by inserting strain gauge staples into the medial aspect of 4 subjects midtibial diaphysis, then measured gastrocnemius isokinetic torque before and after vigorous physical activity. Tool Use And Behavior Of Wild And Captive Capuchins Tool Use and Behavior of Wild and Captive Capuchins Introduction The capuchin monkeys are known as one of, if not the most intelligent monkeys of all New World species. They reside naturally in the forests of southern Mexico, the West Indies, and Central and South America, but can be found in zoos and captivity around the globe. Capuchins regularly eat fruits, insects, and nuts, and spend the majority of their day foraging for food. Capuchins travel and live in groups, residing in the treetops and canopy of the forest; however, the monkeys will travel along the forest floor as well. They have prehensile tails that are the same length as their body, have opposable thumbs, and primarily range from light to dark brown with white facial markings. Tool Use Among Wild Capuchins While reports of tool use in wild capuchins are moderately scarce, there is no doubt that tools play an important role in the capuchin lifestyle. The most common tool used amongst capuchins are stones, which predominantly aid in palm nut cracking and digging., Palm nuts and other enclosed foods have protective coatings surrounding the sustenance held inside. To break open and remove the outer shell, they place the palm nut onto a boulder or large flat stone, called anvils, and bang a smaller stone against the nut until cracking occurs. The first character introduced is the youngest student from the team, 14 year old, James Farmer Jr. He is an ambitious young man who strives to live up to his father s expectations. James struggles with fear throughout the movie. He is sheltered and does not understand the severity of the racial conflict of the time. This trait is evident in the film in two key scenes. The first is when his family is out for a drive and his father accidently hits a white man s pig. James s father is very cautious during this interaction and James witnesses the incident from the car. This interaction has a major impact on James and gives him a greater understanding of the racial conflict. The second incident occurs when James is unsuccessful in his first debate. When given other opportunities to debate, he questions himself and fears failure. This fear plays a role in the debate team s future competitions. James s fear can be linked to Bandura s observational learning theory. He observes how his father cowers down to the white farmers and learns that he too should fear whites. Disguises and mistaken identities allow the characters in this tangled play to obtain what they desire and forge a more substantial path for themselves in life. Whether disguise is deceptive or deception is disguised, concealment is employed by nearly every character. Duke Orsino asserts a fictitious love for the countess Olivia, claiming it is real, Viola conceals her identity by assuming a disguise in order to assure her safety, Feste acts as a fool to keep his place in Olivia s court and reveal truths about those around him, while Malvolio acts as something he is ... Orsino s feelings for Olivia beg the question of whether or not love has to do with the person who is loved or the lover s imagination: So full of shapes is fancy / That it alone is high fantastical (1.1.14 15). Orsino often describes Olivia s beauty and the effect it has on him, but he never provides persuasive reasons for why he loves her. He declares that he suffers inescapable pain, yet he gives the impression that he enjoys it to an extent, that he cannot, doesn t know how to be, without it. The authenticity of his love is even further invalidated at the end of the play when he quickly shifts affections from Olivia to Viola. Viola carries out, arguably, the most obvious deception in the play: a physical disguise. Viola emerges in the story after a violent shipwreck has whisked away her brother, Sebastian, and left her stranded ashore in a strange land. After the fall of the provisional government, the Bolsheviks were now able to implement an economic policy of their own, introducing a form of communism called War Communism . It was a form of strict communism that, amongst many things, took money out of circulation and banned private enterprise. It should, therefore, seem surprising that the Bolshevik government got rid of this policy, a policy which espoused many Marxist principles of destroying interclass conflict through the abolition of private enterprise, and replacing it with the NEP, a policy which at first glance, may resemble something much more capitalist orientated than would one expect of a party based on communist ideals. The NEP was a policy that reintroduced a free market and capitalism, both subject to state control . This may have therefore have been a step back from achieving a Marxist utopia in the Russian State but it can be argued that the continuance of war communism would have ultimately led to the utter economic collapse of the Russian state and the NEP prevented this from occurring. She describes a photo she has of him in front of a blackboard with, A cleft in your chin instead of your foot/But no less a devil for that, no not (53 54) which implies that her father had a cleft, much like the cleft foot the devil is commonly pictured with, and it didn t make him any less of a devil due to its improper location. ... The African-American Odyssey Essay The African American Odyssey The Promise of Reconstruction, 1865 1868 The emancipation of the African slave who was now disconnected from their traditions and way of life after nearly 300 years, is seemingly a great gush from the dam to the ebbs and flows of the struggle. The end of slavery as we know it, presented a ball of mixed emotions among the nation; North and SOUTH. Some slaves were grossly ecstatic to be free. For example, when a slave girl named Caddy, from Goodman, Mississippi found she was free, went to her mistress, flipped up her dress and told her Kiss my ass! Presented as labor contracts by white land owners, the institution of slavery was extended under a cloud of debt. In which, the black family, oft times became debtors due to the lack of honesty on the account of their white lender. Aside from family, among African Americans, the black church became the most important institution. Not only did it fill deep spiritual and inspirational needs, it offered enriching music, provided charity and compassion to those in need, developed community and political leaders, and was free of white supervision. With the end of slavery, blacks who then had to attend services with white parishioners who treated them as second class Christians, could now organize and attend their own churches. The advent of the black church definitely brought about a flow in the river of struggle for African Americans. Education was another flow in the river of struggle and a critical means of survival amongst people of color. It coincided alongside freedom. All who were versed in education of all sorts were summoned to teach the freedmen and their children. Teachers from all walks showed. • 27. Death And The King s Horseman Analysis Sarah Goodson Dr. Babcock ENG 239 28 September 2017 Prompt 1 In Wole Soyinka s play, Death and the King s Horseman, the English presence in Nigeria is well established. As each scene goes by the audience can feel European colonialism lurking heavily in the background. With this English influence on the Yoruba people the community is swept with unsteadiness and conflict. The dominant events in Soyinka s play symbolize a larger conflict; although the English believe they are shedding light and bringing progress to the Nigerians, the Nigerians don t welcome these foreigners and only wish to continue their cultural ways in peace. Soyinka argues that although the English believe what they are doing is necessary, they are the ones who are intruding on someone else s culture and they should respect that, no matter how uncivilized or odd it may seem. Not accepting and misunderstanding one another s culture is a leading conflict in this play. The Yoruba community has very different beliefs on death compared to the English. When speaking of death, Elesin states: When the hour comes watch me dance along the narrowing path gazed by the soles of my great precursors. My soul is eager (Soyinka, 10). In contrast, Jane believes that this view is nonsense. Life should never be thrown away deliberately (Soyinka, 42) The Yoruba community celebrates death and welcomes the afterlife. While the English fear death. This misunderstanding and lack of acceptance of cultural differences leads Pilkings to act on what he thinks is best, when it is not what is best for the community. Throughout the novel the Yoruba culture continually is disrespected by the colonists who invade their community. In the play Pilkings and his wife Jane are dressed in egungun costumes which they confiscated from cult leaders. Amusa pleads with Pilkings and Jane to take them off. They respond saying You don t believe this nonsense do you? I thought you were a good Muslim. ( Soyinka, 19) Jane and Pilkings are surprised that Amusa can still respect the Yoruba culture while believing in something different. Amusa can t stand it any longer and leaves saying I treat egungun with respect before running off ( Soyinka, 20). Amusa represents what Soyinka is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ring Contraction Of A Ring RING CONTRACTION All the carbons of a ring are equivalent (a ring has no ends like an open chain compound does),1 ring compounds can be classified as either monocyclic or polycyclic compounds. As the word contraction means shrinking, ring contraction can be defined as the process of shrinking larger ring compounds which are less strained into a more strained smaller ring structures. Instead of making small strained ring by chemical reaction which is very strenuous to do, ring contraction is a process of easing the stress of forming smaller strained ring on their own. A ring contraction reaction is a type of organic reaction in which usually a hydrocarbon ring is reduced in size.2 Ring contraction reactions are an important method to increase molecular complexity in a single step, because, in many cases, the reorganization of the bonds occurs with a high level of selectivity, affording products not easily accessible by other synthetic approaches.2. and 3. On explaining this point in detail, I want to define the negative atmosphere at first. The atmosphere is the laziness and workless of the society. As a human being, we all have known that human has its natural characteristics and weakness and playing lottery will develop the weakness and promote it to be a social issue. Laziness is one of the biggest weaknesses of human, and people enjoy using the leisure on entertainment or relax themselves. In addition, everyone prefers to get what one wants without doing effort. Why We Still Need Affirmitive Action Why we still need affirmative action Because of the complex nature of the discussion on affirmative action and the controversies and the emotion surrounding it, it is imperative to first recap on the causes of race and inequality in the United States of America. The policies on affirmative action were proposed as a fractional remedy for the socio economic impacts of past and present disadvantage faced by certain groups in the population, especially with regard to biases on gender and race. Such disadvantages ought to be addressed, in a society that has built its international pedestal on justice and equality, for proportionality to be existent within its borders. This needs demonstration that the sharing of certain advantages in the United States is not consistent with the principles underlying just distribution( Anderson, 2004). It often seems that such determination depends greatly on divergent views on principles that build occurrence of justice and less about the etiology of the inequalities. Those who advocate for affirmative action are considered to champion for equality of outcome whereas those who disfavor this policy are deemed as supporting equality of opportunity. The latter, argued further, is seen to translate into discrimination within the private enterprise in the atmosphere of a free market society(Crosby, 2000).
