Unemployment And The Rate Of Unemployment Essay
Rate of unemployment The definition of Unemployment is given by International Labour
Organisation (ILO) and adopted by Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) as A person aged 15 years
and over is considered as unemployed if he/she do not work at all during the preceding week of the
survey (even an hour in the reference week) and is actively looking for work or is available for work
but do not work due to temporary illness or because there is no work available . The rate of
unemployment increased in Bangladesh during the 10 year period (1999 2000 to 2010). According to
Labour Force Survey, 2010 the rate of unemployment stood at 4.5 percent in 2010 which was 4.3
percent in 1999 2000. Furthermore, one of the most crucial findings is that the rate of unemployment
for female has been decreasing; on the other hand, this rate has been increasing for male in the
mentioned period (Basak,2013). For the female, the rates of unemployment were 7.8 percent and 5.8
percent in 1999 2000 and 2010 respectively, whereas those were 3.4 percent and 4.1 percent for male
for the corresponding years. Moreover, this rate was significantly higher in urban areas compared to
rural areas in 2010. In rural areas, the rate of unemployment was only 4 percent, whereas at urban
areas, it was 6.5 percent. besides this, the rate of unemployment increased with the increase of
educational level up to Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or equivalent levels. After that, this rate

The Cost Of Information Driven Choice Making
The guarantee of information driven choice making is presently being perceived extensively, and there
is developing excitement for the thought of ``Big Data. While the guarantee of Big Data is genuine for
instance, it is assessed that Google alone contributed 54 billion dollars to the US economy in 2009
there is right now a wide crevice between its potential and its acknowledgment. Heterogeneity, scale,
convenience, intricacy, and protection issues with Big Data block progress at all periods of the
pipeline that can make esteem from information. The estimation of information blasts when it can be
connected with other information, subsequently information combination is a noteworthy maker of
quality. Since most information is directly produced in advance today, we have the open door and the
test both to impact the creation to encourage later linkage and to naturally interface already made
information. We trust that fitting interest in Big Data will prompt another rush of central mechanical
advances that will be epitomized in the following eras of Big Data administration and investigation
stages, items, and frameworks. The interest in Big Data, legitimately coordinated, can result in major
investigative advances, as well as establish the framework for the up and coming era of advances in

Summer 2012 Module 2: Case Assignment: The Management Function of Organization In this module
we look at organizing as a managerial function. As one of your readings indicted the purpose of the
organizing function is to make the best use of the organization s resources to achieve organizational
goals. One of the major resources of an organization is its staff to whom work must be assigned and
delegated. Case Study Assignment Expectations: After reading the background materials, conduct

Delegation vs. Empowerment To delegate means to choose or elect a person to act as a representative
for another. To empower someone means to give power or authority to someone else (Runn, 2010).
Delegating a task is essentially having someone do a task on your behalf; although someone else is
doing the work, you have all the responsibility. Empowering someone means to give them enough
power and authority to act on their own behalf. To truly empower someone you must grant them
authority, proper resources, and hold them accountable to organizational values and principles (Runn,
2010). Describe and analyze the potential dangers of delegation. A manager who neither delegates or
empowers, or does them poorly will seem disorganized and will spend a lot of time catching up on
work. This could cause dissention in the ranks that could affect the subordinate s view of authority in
the manager, and could cause problems in productivity, which would result in negative outcomes,
whatever the product. Delegation and empowerment work best when it is done in small increments.
Delegating too much could overburden others, and leads to perceptions that you are uninterested,
unavailable, detached, disinterested or that you d rather have someone else do the job while you sit
back and take the credit and the pay (Eikenberry, n.d.). Not delegating

Quotes From Stormbreaker
Although death is one option, we choose to choose other options to get our way out of it, even when
going through death threatening events. In the book, Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz, Alex s
Uncle dies to a Russian spy called, Yassen. Alex s uncle, Ian Rider lied about him working for a Bank,
but instead worked for an Agent corporation. Alex soon becomes a spy, working for the corporation
and goes into a life threatening mission, to stop Stormbreaker.
The novel is a life lesson for the children of our generation, especially in since everyone lies to get
their way through and hide the mocking truth. It makes us realise that we can t trust anyone, since
things such as lying or fake friends are becoming more and more popular. The author made me reflect

In the text, it is the same. Ian Rider had told Alex that his job was at a bank but he was actually a spy.
Also, gaining glory was shown by Ian Rider skipping certain events that they arranged, just so he
could finish off his mission. Sayle lying to working England, about how his new invention would
change education but it was just a to poison the minds of the kids generation. Another example of
lying is when Alex s guardian, Jack Starbright lied about how she could live with Alex for the rest of
her life, but Mr Blunt told Alex that Jack s visa expired ten years ago. The author uncovers that killing
is also what some people only think about. Yassen kills Alex s Uncle, then later on, Yassen sat1ves
Alex but Alex says that he still wants to kill him due to what he did to his uncle. This can

Nursing Diagnosis
Nursing Diagnosis I Nursing Diagnosis I for Patient R.M. is ineffective airway clearance related to
retained secretions. This is evidenced by a weak unproductive cough and by both objective and
subjective data. Objective data includes diagnosis of pneumonia, functional decline, and dyspnea.
Subjective data include the patient s complaints of feeling short of breath, even with assistance with
basic ADLs. This is a crucial nursing diagnosis as pneumonia is a serious condition that is the eighth
leading cause of death in the United States and the number one cause of death from infectious diseases
(Lemon, Burke, 2011). It is vital to keep the airway clear of the mucus that may be produced from the
inflammatory response of pneumonia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This enhances the clearance of secretions from airways (Spark and Taylor, 2011). Also, to help the
patient have normal breath sounds the nurse should turn the patient every two hours for maximal
aeration of lung fields and mobilization of secretions. This repositioning of the patient prevents
pooling and stasis of respiratory secretions (Sparks and Taylor, 2011). R.M. was able to meet this goal;
he had clear lung sounds to auscultation by the end of the shift on 2/12/14. The final goal of this care
plan is for the patient to express feeling of comfort in maintaining air exchange and increased
knowledge by discharge. This nurse can implement this goal by teaching the patient relaxation
techniques, which reduce oxygen demand, as well as assessing the patients learning needs and
providing appropriate information to the patient about reducing their oxygen demands to help prevent
the reoccurrence of obstruction (Sparks and Taylor, 2011). Nursing Diagnosis II R.M. s second
nursing diagnosis imbalanced nutrition less than body requirements related to lack of nutrition as
evidenced by untouched food trays. This care plan is also evidenced by subjective and objective
evidence. In R.M. s patient chart, the previous nurses had noted subjectively that the patient does not
touch food trays and objectively that less than 50% of all meals since hospitalization had been
consumed. Patient R.M. needs to improve his nutritional intake so that he can provide his body with

Rachel Ruysch Research Paper
What would you consider today s most desired status symbols? A mansion or a beach side home? A
designer handbag or clothes? In Rachel Ruysch s day it was a simple tulip. Looking at her floral still
life paintings can reveal an entire hidden world. Rachel Ruysch was born in 1664 in the northern
Netherlands. She was born into a wealthy and prominent family; her father a scientist and her mother
the daughter of an architect. Her father was a professor of anatomy and botany and also an amateur
painter. From a young age Ruysch would draw and paint the insects and plants in her fathers
collection. At age fifteen, she was an apprentice to William van Aeist, who was a prominent flower
painter in Amsterdam at the time and she studied with him until ... Show more content on

The Netherlands became the largest importers of new and exotic plants and flowers from around the
world (Robinson). Once valued primarily for their use as herbs or medicine, flowers became newly
appreciated simply for their beauty and fragrance. They became prized luxuries and desirable status
symbols for the wealthy. Botanists and gardeners sought the rarest specimens imported from overseas
trade and the tulip was the most exotic.
Flowers In a Vase was a painting that Ruysch painted after 1700. This composition balances a swirl of
twisting blossoms along a diagonal axis (Chadwick 138). The variety of blooms and colors, and the
painter s subtle touch and impeccable surface treatment distinguish her work (Chadwick 138). Flowers
lavishly spill out of the vase, filling the entire picture space. Some are in full bloom, others droop and
wilt, as leaves and curving stems entwine throughout (Robinson). The lighting in this painting falls on
the flowers from the bottoms left to top right, leaving the closed peonies at the edge in shadow.
Complementary colors create harmony, as warm yellows and rose balance cool blues and greens.
Against the dark background, her sophisticated palette creates a flawless sense of depth and three
dimensionality (Wieseman). And looking more closely, the viewer and depict several insects in the

A Young Age
Tatum explains how white individuals, at a young age are taught by the American culture that they
have superiority over people of color. These assumptions can be made based on social media and
institutions such as school. Parents also plays a huge role on influencing their children on what to
think about on certain groups. For examples, children at a young age watches cartoons and based off
of those images, they grow up thinking that those assumptions are accurate. Due to this, they make
assumptions on others race based on what they learned from the media, school, and also from parents.
As a result of this, their mentality has set to only one specific path without challenging it. Omission

Prejudice. Prejudice is a preconceived judgement or opinion, usually based on limited information
(32). People in generally all have at some point in their life has prejudice towards one another. This is
the assumption that people make towards one another because of their upbringings, social media, or
school institutions. This assumptions is what Tatum referred to as Cultural racism ; which is the
cultural images and messages that affirm the assumed superiority of whites and the assumed inferiorty
of people of color (32). These are the assumptions that people have inernalize because of the daily
surroundings and environment they are exposed to. The American culture is set up in a way that
divides people in a way that they are constantly exposed to ethnic jokes of friends and family
memebers, and are rarely informed of the accomplisments of oppressed groups, we will develope the
negative categorization of those groups that form the basis of prejudice (32). Some people in general

previous people thought it was funny. People have internalized these concepts for so long

Every school must produce a range of policies which formally set out guidelines and procedures for
ensuring equality. These policies must take account the rights of all children and young people. The
policies in place work to ensure equality and inclusion; this can be conducted through the teaching and
learning that occurs in the setting. However, the policies must also pay regard to the values and
practice which are part of all aspects of school life.
All work with children should be underpinned by the principles and values as stated in the National
Occupational Standards in Children s Core Learning and Development. These principles and values

including schools, to provide equality of opportunity for all citizens. This brings together nine equality
laws. | Sex Discrimination Act 1986 | This Act makes it unlawful for educational establishments to
discriminate against a person on the grounds of sex. |
There are a number of statutory frameworks, codes of practice and guidelines in which helps to
support schools in their duty to implement the above legislation. Some of the statutory frameworks,
codes of practice and guidelines are stated below:
The Special Educational Needs Code of Practice 2001 outlines the statutory guidance for policy and
the procedures and responsibilities towards children and special educational needs. It includes the
levels of support which should be provided to children depending upon their individual needs.

public authorities (including schools) to meet their duty set out in the Race Relations Act. It requires
all schools to produce a written race equality policy which includes information on practical ways in
which schools will work to promote race equality. School policies must demonstrate that they are

The Total Cost Of Ownership
Total Cost of Ownership (TCO, or total ownership cost TOC), is a concept that is progressively used
in business worldwide. The principle of the concept is that the full costs of a conclusion should be
assessed, rather than concentrating on the original purchase price of software and hardware, for
instance. The Total Cost of Ownership term is somewhat new but the methodology is comparable to
concepts of life cycle costs and other valid economic principles for appropriately evaluating business
decisions. Total Cost of Ownership is at times used to define the full costs of one choice. In other
occasions, Total Cost of Ownership is used to label the contrast of full costs of two contending
alternatives. With whichever practice, the approach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Let us consider the present value, there are numerous ways to contemplate organizing or categorizing
the relevant costs.
Some analysts acclaim ascertaining direct costs such as things like: software and hardware purchase
price v. indirect costs such as: training and relocation costs. One could see it beneficial to also
contemplate about costs the initial costs equally obvious direct in addition to indirect costs. Some of
the reason this discrepancy is important is that a conclusion should not depend on the nominal sum of
the costs, but instead on the present value of the costs. A dollar now has more value than a dollar one
year from now; revenue today is more imperative revenue one year in the future. The pertinent interest
rate or discount rate is the businesses marginal cost of capital conforming to a level of risk
corresponding with the venture.
Consider a small business is planning on applying a new billing system. The key components of the
system will be: software, hardware, preliminary training, additional transition costs, successive
software upgrades, subsequent training, constant operations and maintenance. It has zero salvage. The
billing system is anticipated to last 3 years. The businesses investment company advises that the
forward thinking cost of principal is 15%. The calculations in the table assume initial purchase at time

Horseflesh Trial
Myself, being a good judge of horseflesh, kept my part in the Southern Hemisphere s greatest crime of
all time hush hush, as I was not handed a punishment by the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court,
though many of my partners in crime did receive one.
I did not know my acquaintances personally, being that we all met through the employment registers
at Centerlink. The punishments for my confrères were meticulously, and unnecessarily sinister. One
was sentenced to death by mutilation, that being Ruben Monfils, which I didn t mind as he had a large
izzard on his forehead. Two others, the masked banditos, Lawrence and Mr. Découpage, had been
given hemlock. The intention of the Grenadian jury was for them to die by the cicutoxin in the plant.
They achieved death, but not how the quietus intended: Lawrence contracted an allergic reaction and
choked to death, whereas Mr. Découpage refused the drink, and after leaving the courtroom, was hit
by a Stout Scarab. Another of the helpless accused, Myron, acquiesced in partaking in the

as scarce resources were in Australia, in Britain the economy was horrific. Therefore, Australia sent

A Report On Unhappy Triad
Madison Kruse
Athletic Training II
Spring 2015
Alternative Paper
Unhappy Triad The unhappy triad is an injury involving three major ligaments, hence triad , being
completely or partially torn. As imagined, the pain felt from this is excruciating, therefore earning the
name unhappy or terrible triad. Being a very common injury in contact sports, the background,
characteristics, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of the unhappy triad are all essential to
understanding this injury.
The unhappy triad, also known as blown knee , terrible triad , or O Donoghue triad , is named after Dr
DH O Donoghue, an American orthopaedic surgeon who described this injury back in 1950. This
injury includes full or partial tears of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), the Medial Collateral
Ligament (MCL), and a meniscus. The unhappy triad happens to about 25% of athlete s knee injuries.
The unhappy triad is a very common sports injury, especially in contact sports where the knee can
often be hit. It is thought to be the most common knee injury in football and can occur when the knee
is clipped during a tackle.
Normally, the unhappy triad occurs when the foot is planted and the knee is hit and pushed in another
direction. This causes the ligaments and tendons to tear and rip, thus causing the terrible or unhappy
triad. The most common and serious thing that happens to cause a unhappy triad starts with the ACL.
The ACL provides stability to the entire knee and it can be difficult to

Pros And Cons Of Texting On Writing
In the academic article Does Texting Affect Writing? Michaela Cullington weighs the pros and mostly
cons on texting hindering your formal writing. A college level paper is to be considered the first step
in writing at a scholarly level by experts. In high school we write for the recreation with genres like
short stories or poems. In college we are expected to write more for rhetorical analysis or things that
don t include your personal point of view. Texting hasn t been around and as trendy as it is now as the
average person doesn t start texting until their freshman year of high school. Texting use to be frowned
upon as a sort of childish thing but as Cullington states ...and is even becoming popular in the business
world because it allows quick messages to be sent without people having to commit to a telephone
conversation.
Early on Cullington gave us all the contrary implications of texting s effect. Things like Textspeak or
abbreviations and acronyms used in student s formal writing are some of the many negative
connotations of texting. For example teachers we finding that student were using slang like GTG
which is short for the phrase got to go peppered through writing samples. Another disagreement she
had was with the student s misuse of or lack thereof punctuation in their writing. Because texting
doesn t emphasize the importance of the correct punctuation in writing students overlook the simple
things in writing formally. She also feels, like many others, that

However, Mexico was not my country, it was always busy with people shouting and the school was
not helping either. The school was far from accepting, everyone knew each other since kindergarten

but at the end, we all found our way, after all, intelligence is the ability to adapt. We stayed in Mexico

exactly what it was instead of trying to manipulate it into what I believe it should be. However
wonderful or substandard the situation was I would always find the solution. The traffic was

5 28. Consider a project that requires an initial investment of $100,000 and will produce a single cash
flow of $150,000 in five years.
a. What is the NPV of this project if the five year interest rate is 5% (EAR)?
b. What is the NPV of this project if the five year interest rate is 10% (EAR)?
c. What is the highest five year interest rate such that this project is still profitable?
Sol:
a. NPV = 100,000 + 150,000 / 1.055 = $17,529.
b. NPV = 100,000 + 150,000 / 1.105 = $6862.
Here we need to calculate the IRR.
Therefore,
IRR = (150,000 / 100,000)1/5 1 = 8.45%.

Enforcing School Uniforms
On the other side, there are many issues that arise when the thought of enforcing school uniforms into
public schools come to light. There are people who think that school uniforms should not be required
to wear in schools; thinking school uniforms take away student s individuality and freedoms without
letting them become their own person.
First, the main argument against school uniforms is how it violates the student s first s amendment
rights of their freedom of expression. Many students claim that requiring them to wear particular
clothing deprives them of the ability to freely express themselves through their choice of dress. For
example, I can see where students are coming from, but at the same time I don t see how it can violate

The Implementation Of The New Standard Rule
As many know revenue is the amount of money that a company receives during a specific period/time.
However revenue recognition is slightly different, it is an accounting principle under GAAP that
determines the specific conditions of when revenue is recognized or accounted for. Since many
believe that the standard was in need for improvement, on August 12, 2015 the FASB issued an
Accounting Standards Update. The update based on the board s decision decided that public
organizations should apply the new revenue recognition to annual reports beginning after December
15, 2017. It is said that the new standard is major achievement for the Boards in improving this
financial standard. The purpose of the new standard is to establish principles ... Show more content on

By being able to cut down on paperwork and build up a proper support beam would be able to help the
companies in numerous ways. From removing the inconsistencies and weaknesses it would make it
easier for their accountant to look at the financial statements as well an auditor when going through
the company s financials to make sure it s up to par. Therefore, by making a strong framework for
revenue issues then you would be allowed to fix any errors that you may have missed when trying to
eliminate the inconsistencies and weaknesses so that you are able to make adjusting entries for the
revenue issues. More new rules include that it will improve comparability of revenue recognition
practices across entities, industries, jurisdictions, and capital markets, and provide more useful
information to users of financial statements through improved disclosure requirements, For the new
standard to improve the comparability of the revenue recognition is a huge help to numerous
organizations. With being able to compare the revenue documents with other areas in the financial

Transverse Colon Volvulus
Volvulus is rotation of part of the intestine around its mesentry, causing a intestinal obstruction.
Colonic volvulus is not common cause of intestinal obstruction in the developed world. However
much more common in the developing world (6,7). High prevalence of volvulus are reported in the
Volvulus Belt of Africa, the Middle East, India, and Russia. In these regions, the average age is
younger than Western countries, ranging from 40 to 50 years and in generally better health (8). In the
United States, colonic volvulus accounts for 10 to 15% of all colon obstructions(9). The sigmoid colon

Twisting of bowel commonly occurs along the mesenteric axis , resulting in venous obstruction and
eventually arterial compromise. Redundancy and non fixation of bowel are essential to form any type
of volvulus. The ascending and descending segments of the colon are not mobile , but the sigmoid
colon, caecum, and transverse colon are not fixed within the peritoneum, tethered by their mesentery.
This mobility contributes volvulus to occur at these locations. Thirty three to thirty five percent of
patients with volvulus of the transverse colon appear to have had a history of chronic constipation
which is either idiopathic or secondary to autonomic dysfunction (5) . In our patient chronic
constipations , laxative abuse and high fibre diet may be contributing for the transverse colon volvulus
. These conditions may predispose the elongation and chronic redundancy of the colon and its
mesentry, which favoure it to rotation. In our part of world , most of people are farmer and they eat
high fibre content diet, that may be reason for high incidence of volvulus. Honestely , it is difficult to
conclude the broad conclusions regarding the incidence of transverse colon volvulus in the adult
population due to the relatively small number of reported cases. Therefore, surgeon should be aware

Scientific Management
Critically discuss the notion that Scientific Management was a good idea in the history of management
thinking.
Since the thousands of years, people use the management in the great projects such as the Egyptian
pyramids and the Great Wall of China. According to Robbins, et al. (2006), Henri Fayol said that all
managers perform five functions: planning, organizing, commanding, coordinating and controlling in
the early part of the twentieth century. Robbins stated that, in the mid 1950s, management functions
changed to planning, organizing staffing, directing and controlling. However, management functions
have been reduced to four such as planning, organizing, leading and controlling.
There are six major approaches to management: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cole (2004, p 20) stated that Gantt introduced a payment system that although the employee s
performance was below on the individual s instruction card, he still qualified for the day rate but
performance of all the work allocated on the card qualified the individual for bonus. Gantt found that
when one worker found that he could achieve the task, the rest quickly followed. As a result,
supervision improved, breakdowns were minimized. Gantt s bonus system also allowed for the
employee to challenge the time allocated for a particular task.
There are a lot of benefits from scientific management. First, the productivity increases dramatically
by improving the working method. Second, the supervisors can measure the performance base on the
working methods. Third, it motivates the employees by incentive payments base on the results on the
performance. Finally, the physical working conditions for employees also improved because of
scientific management. (Cole, 2004)
Although scientific management has a lot of benefits, it also has some disadvantages. Firstly, the
worker s role is reduced by the rigid methods and procedures. Another drawback is the employees will
be bore because of same steps of procedures. Next one is scientific management generates a carrot and
stick approach to the motivation of employees by enabling pay to be geared tightly to output (Cole,
2004). As stated by Buren (2008), proponents of

Passionate about Piano
Some people have different roles that they play every day. The majority use certain roles as a daily
bases and improve these roles to become powerful needed skills. By enhancing those skills, they turn
those skills to professional roles that change the course of their lives. Since some of the people are full
with passion, they have become great musicians as pianist. People say that pianists became successful
because of their skills and talents. Others disagree and say that pianists became professional because
of their passion for piano. A professional pianist, like Hieu Tri, is passionate about playing piano. Hieu

Professional pianists release their emotions only because their passion for piano. Great pianists must

Bloody Hell Rhetorical Analysis
It is evidently true that human beings communicate through more than one medium. When
communicating people express ideas as well as emotions through facial expressions, tone and pitch,

Biodegradable Nanoparticles for Drug Delivery
Review: Biodegradable Nanoparticles for Drug Delivery
Introduction
With the many innovations in the disciplines of nanotechnology and drug delivery their merger is a
very advantages strategy transport of small molecular weight drugs and macromolecules for localized
or targeted delivery to the tissue of interest [1]. Nanotechnology will provided an outlet for conveying
therapeutic agents in biocompatible nanocomposites such as nanoparticles, nanocapsules, micellar
systems, and conjugates. With the rewards of the nano scale and interactions of these delivery
systems, remedies can be used to provide targeted delivery of drugs, to improve oral bioavailability, to
sustain drug/gene effect in target tissue, to solubilize drugs for intravascular delivery, and to improve
the stability of therapeutic agents against enzymatic degradation, especially of protein, peptide, and
nucleic acids drugs [1]. By tailoring polymer qualities, on can specify design factors that can control
the release of therapeutic agents to provide excellent targeting for optimal efficacy. The ability to
theses distant destinations, nanoparticles are led by bio specific ligand which could direct them to the
target tissue. The prime emphasis on the review will be the mechanism of their intracellular uptake,
different pathways of their uptake, intracellular trafficking and sorting into different intracellular
compartments, and the mechanism of enhanced therapeutic efficacy of the nanoparticle encapsulated

Pros And Cons Of Corn
It was in 1826 when French physician and dietitian Anthelme Brillat Savarin wrote, Dis moi ce que tu
manges, je te dirai ce que to es, Tell me what you eat, and I will tell you what you are. (Brillat Savarin
1825) If this idea that we are what we eat is true when what we are as Americans living in the United
States is corn. Corn is the largest commodity crop grown in the U.S., it is turned into the cheapest and
most consumed sweetener, high fructose corn syrup, it finds its way into 75% of the products in the
average grocery store, and unlike its ancestor from southern Mexico the corn we grow today has close
to zero nutritional value. It is estimated by the National Corn Growers Association that the average
American consumes 25 pounds of corn each year. When one thinks about corn consumption, they tend
to think about products such as sweet corn, corn flakes, popcorn, or corn oil. (National Corn Growers
Association) However corn is found in many more products such as, soda, candy, breakfast cereals,
yogurt, sauces, beef, chips and pretty much anything else you can find that is both sweet and cheap.
The hidden corn in our diet leaves the uniformed consumer at risk of serious health issues. The large
scale of corn production in the United States directly correlates with the unhealthy eating habits and
the alarming percentage of obesity in America. Corn is in nearly everything we eat and we don t even

The third type includes omnivorous insects also including specific types of ants, wasps, and some
beetles. They feed on the other insects as well as the body. Wasps will eat other adult flies, and also
feed on the fluids from the body. By eating the adult flies it can disrupt decaying for up to a day. The
last species are hunting spiders. They make webs in and around the body to catch insects. The body
provides an ideal habitat for the spiders to catch their prey. Although these are the insects that use the
body as a source of food they are not the only insects that gain food from the body. There are also soil
dwellers that obtain food from the fluids from the body that seep into the ground. They are usually
mites, springtails, roundworms, and nematodes. The fluids that seep into the soil usually stay there for
several years after the death.
By determining what insects are on the body, and what stage of development they are in can help
determine postmortem intervals, especially in the cases of flies. There are a few factors that do play
into delaying or speeding up the decaying process with insects. A few aspects that will delay insect
activity are burying a body which also delays decomposition, covering the corpse especially tightly,
being in the water, cold weather, and the height of the body from the ground, for example in a
hanging. Only insects that can fly can reach the body, so it delays activity, but insects do feed off of

Socrate and the Examined Life
The significance of the Examined life

The Trial and Death of Socrates takes place during a time in Socrates life where he becomes most
reflective. During these final moments of Socrates life a theme arises, that of the unexamined life.
Socrates claims that the unexamined life is not worth living (Apology 38a). Profound as the statement
may seem it creates many questions; what is the unexamined life? And why is the idea of an examined
life so dear to Socrates? It s clear throughout the dialogues of The Trial and Death of Socrates has a

Socrates uses his apology to to attack the wealthy and those who chase after positions of power
Wealth does not bring about excellence, but excellence makes wealth and everything else good for
men, both individually and collectively (apology 30b). This quote provides two insightful pieces of
knowledge about Socrates. The first is that it shows his perception of wealth and what it is to be truly
wealthy, to Socrates quality of life is wealth. The second is it shows that Socrates believes that doing
the right thing will lead to a better quality of life, or what he considers to be wealth.
Above all Socrates greatest interest is the state of ones soul. While Socrates is accused and put to
death for being an atheist it is clear that Socrates does believe in the gods and in fact believes them to
be all powerful. Socrates seems aware that he is destined to be put to death from the start of the
dialogues as his main focus is always on right and wrong, pious and impious. After spending what

Why? Because people usually chose not to vote because they don t believe that their votes matter or

Technology did threaten to end the two nations at once. Historical records show the simulations of
attacks and the resulting defense measures for both sides and how at the end, not one of either country
would be victorious. Therefore both the United States and the Soviet Union continued to explore
science to come up with better ways of defeating their enemies. Technology and science went as far as
to render basic weapons useless and instead moved to improve efficiency in operational and functional
systems. Therefore, you could hear about a new detonation system that could work with any bomb or
even a better and small explosive that could be used to launched nuclear or other mass destruction
weapon components.
As the cold war progressed and with every minute being closer to war than the previous, attention
began to shift to other unexploited fields in science (Hanhimäki 673 683). Nuclear bomb technology
began to be a primary feature in military functions with sites sprouting up in equal measure for both

All Is Fair in Love and War
Joshua Anderson Professor Sarada Conaway Art History 105 November 17, 2012 All is Fair in Love
and War There is a saying that is passed around within the military community that states, For those
who have never served, freedom has a taste the protected will never know. Freedom has been

his facial expression is calm, but intimidating at the same time. The motto of the Marine Corps League
is, Once a Marine, always a Marine (http://www.usmcpress.com/heritage/usmc slogans.htm). This is a
true statement. Once a person has earned the title of a Marine, almost like earning the title of
Imperator, they will always be included in an elite group of men and women, whether they are retired,
active duty, or reserve. Precision Pride is a

Delegation vs. Empowerment To delegate means to choose or elect a person to act as a representative for another. To empower someone means to give power or authority to someone else (Runn, 2010). Delegating a task is essentially having someone do a task on your behalf; although someone else is doing the work, you have all the responsibility. Empowering someone means to give them enough power and authority to act on their own behalf. To truly empower someone you must grant them authority, proper resources, and hold them accountable to organizational values and principles (Runn, 2010). Describe and analyze the potential dangers of delegation. A manager who neither delegates or empowers, or does them poorly will seem disorganized and will spend a lot of time catching up on work. This could cause dissention in the ranks that could affect the subordinate s view of authority in the manager, and could cause problems in productivity, which would result in negative outcomes, whatever the product. Delegation and empowerment work best when it is done in small increments. Delegating too much could overburden others, and leads to perceptions that you are uninterested, unavailable, detached, disinterested or that you d rather have someone else do the job while you sit back and take the credit and the pay (Eikenberry, n.d.). This is evidenced by a weak unproductive cough and by both objective and subjective data. Objective data includes diagnosis of pneumonia, functional decline, and dyspnea. Subjective data include the patient s complaints of feeling short of breath, even with assistance with basic ADLs. This is a crucial nursing diagnosis as pneumonia is a serious condition that is the eighth leading cause of death in the United States and the number one cause of death from infectious diseases (Lemon, Burke, 2011). This enhances the clearance of secretions from airways (Spark and Taylor, 2011). Also, to help the patient have normal breath sounds the nurse should turn the patient every two hours for maximal aeration of lung fields and mobilization of secretions. This repositioning of the patient prevents pooling and stasis of respiratory secretions (Sparks and Taylor, 2011). R.M. was able to meet this goal; he had clear lung sounds to auscultation by the end of the shift on 2/12/14. The final goal of this care plan is for the patient to express feeling of comfort in maintaining air exchange and increased knowledge by discharge. This nurse can implement this goal by teaching the patient relaxation techniques, which reduce oxygen demand, as well as assessing the patients learning needs and providing appropriate information to the patient about reducing their oxygen demands to help prevent the reoccurrence of obstruction (Sparks and Taylor, 2011). Nursing Diagnosis II R.M. s second nursing diagnosis imbalanced nutrition less than body requirements related to lack of nutrition as evidenced by untouched food trays. This care plan is also evidenced by subjective and objective evidence. In R.M. s patient chart, the previous nurses had noted subjectively that the patient does not touch food trays and objectively that less than 50% of all meals since hospitalization had been consumed. Twisting of bowel commonly occurs along the mesenteric axis , resulting in venous obstruction and eventually arterial compromise. Redundancy and non fixation of bowel are essential to form any type of volvulus. The ascending and descending segments of the colon are not mobile , but the sigmoid colon, caecum, and transverse colon are not fixed within the peritoneum, tethered by their mesentery. This mobility contributes volvulus to occur at these locations. Thirty three to thirty five percent of patients with volvulus of the transverse colon appear to have had a history of chronic constipation which is either idiopathic or secondary to autonomic dysfunction (5) . In our patient chronic constipations , laxative abuse and high fibre diet may be contributing for the transverse colon volvulus . These conditions may predispose the elongation and chronic redundancy of the colon and its mesentry, which favoure it to rotation. Gantt found that when one worker found that he could achieve the task, the rest quickly followed. As a result, supervision improved, breakdowns were minimized. Gantt s bonus system also allowed for the employee to challenge the time allocated for a particular task. There are a lot of benefits from scientific management. First, the productivity increases dramatically by improving the working method. Second, the supervisors can measure the performance base on the working methods. Third, it motivates the employees by incentive payments base on the results on the performance. Finally, the physical working conditions for employees also improved because of scientific management. (Cole, 2004) Although scientific management has a lot of benefits, it also has some disadvantages. Firstly, the worker s role is reduced by the rigid methods and procedures. Another drawback is the employees will be bore because of same steps of procedures.
