"A VISUAL COMMUNICATION SUPPORT
EMBODYING A FRAGMENT OF THE
UNIVERSE"
According to Prieto Castillo, (1994) the image is:
• Representation, because it shows a part of reality.
• Intentionality, because the author of the photo has
tried to show an idea, and your photo shows a
concrete form an idea.
• Construction, remembering that I can add, for
assembly or editing elements that totally change the
meaning of the depicted in the photo.
• Expression, because the image can communicate
information, emotions, feelings, etc.
We can say that any image is a copy of reality, there is
always intentions, communications and expressions.

16. THE VALUE OF THE IMAGE IN
THE CLASSROOM
• Levie and Lentz (1982), warn that despite the massive
presence of images, photographs and works of art in
school manuals, students do not have the tools to
understand and learn from them.
• In general, students do not recognize them as a source
of useful information.
• Some do not register the images and if they do they take
them as a hobby, or they look at them, but they do not
read them to obtain relevant information to complement
the written text.
17. WHY WORK WITH IMAGES IN
EDUCATION
• Students can present their vision of the world and the things around
them.
• It generates greater effect or motivation in the context of the class
• Promotes and develops the creativity of students
• The use of images to promote understanding and understanding.
