Alexander Fleming located penicillin in 1928
at St. Mary's Hospital London. This finding led
to the intro of antibiotics that significantly
reduced the number of deaths from infection.
27. DNA
The molecule, now understood as DNA, was first
recognized in the 1860s by a Swiss chemist Johann
Friedrich Miescher. Johann set to release to research
the key components of white blood cells. The primary
source of these cells? Part of our body's immune
system. Pus-coated bandages were collected from a
nearby medical clinic.

Insulin from cattle and pigs was utilized for many
years to treat diabetes and protected millions of lives,
but it stood perfect as it provoked allergic reactions
in many patients. The relatively genetically planned,
artificial "human" insulin was produced in 1978 using
E. coli bacteria to produce the insulin.

W.C. Rontgen reported the finding of X-rays
in December 1895 after seven weeks of diligent
work. He had learned the belongings of this new type
of radiation, able to go through screens of great
thickness. He named them X-rays to underline the
truth that their nature was unknown.
