Psychiatric Institutions
After the Mental Health Institutions shut down, where do you think all their patents went? In the
New York Times, there is a discussion topic about why Psychiatric Institutions Are a Necessity, In
this article, professionals discuss why psychiatric institutions need to come back, and the reason is
to keep mentally ill people out of prisons, get them the care they deserve and for them to have
affordable housing once they leave the Institution. One of the biggest problems we are facing is not
enough government funding for mental healthservices and affordable housing. I fully support for
psychiatric institutions to come back, but not the kind that are shown in horror movies, but clean
and safe places for people. Bringing back psychiatric institutions... Show more content on

But others will leave at some point and live on their own. That is why affordable housing is so
important, it will keep them from becoming homeless. In New York City, congregate housing which
includes shared apartment buildings, scattered site supported housing and community residences is
supplemented with case management and treatment supports. It provides a holistic, systemic
approach to mental health service that sustains the dignity of the individuals and their families. It
keeps recovery central and protects public safety... Unfortunately, there is not enough housing to
address the need, and not enough support to get people out of inappropriate institutions and off the
streets and out of jails. With this special housing, it will keep the patients and the public safer. It
will keep mentally ill people off the streets and give them a safe environment. People with mental
illness can have full, healthy, and safe lives in the community with the right

Examples Of Greed In A Christmas Carol
In stave two of Charles Dickens novella, A Christmas Carol, the greedy and pessimistic Ebenezer
Scrooge meets the Ghost of Christmas Past and re experiences his Christmases both prior to
becoming a scrooge and at the onset of his pessimism and greed. Scrooge describes the Ghost of
Christmas Past in the phrase, that from the crown of its head there sprung a bright, clear jet of
light, (Dickens 30) and this light itself is the symbol of knowledge and truth from the spirits.
Scrooge, after spending a whole night with the Ghost of ChristmasPast will be enlightened and
shown the truth of what he has become, for he does not truly remember what the joys of Christmas
were prior to the development of his greed. Hints of this enlightenment appear throughout the stave,
however shines most clearly through a moment that Scrooge shares with the Ghost when he says,

I should like to have given him something that is all. (Dickens 36) This passage truly marks the
beginning of the metamorphosis and transformation that Scrooge will undergo throughout the
story, which also happens to be the overall theme of Dickens novella. The Ghost of Christmas
Past takes the greedy Scrooge and forces him to experience the Christmases of his past; when he
lived at school and never saw a Christmas, when his sister Fan told him he was coming home for
Christmas, and even the party thrown by Fezziwig. Even at this party the light of the Ghost of

and environment, and he even tells the reader this when he says, It isn t that, Spirit. He

insignificant that it is impossible to add and count em up: what

The Three Creation Myths
Question One
The signs of miracles and or Magic discussed in the creation myths
Each of the creation myths reveals some form of supernatural power beyond human understanding.
One common magic that is common is creation from nothing . It is believed that a supreme deity
who existed from the beginning of time solely participated in creation. With the emptiness that
existed, the Supreme Being creates through uttering words or body secretions
(Pinsent, 18). He then organizes the world into the form that it exists presently. It is also a common
belief that the supreme deity has power to give life to human through his breath. As much as he
could engage in physical creation, he also shared the life in them to humans. Certain creatures are

Sumerian myth describes how the gods created black headed people and provided conducive
environment for animals that encouraged procreation. Inupiat myth brings out the importance of
the condemnation of evil and pursuit for peace. It also reveals the value for humans by ensuring
that they get what they need for survival. Good conduct is also emphasized to ensure that peace and
order is maintained. Negritos myth brings out the ideas that creation took place through thoughts or
dreaming. It is believed that a divine couple, Pedn and Manoid existed in the sun that later created
the Earth. First, nature is valued as the source of the universe and all life forms. Relations are valued
as it is the source of human life (Powell, 34).
Question Three
Nature of cultures
The Sumerian culture portrays the importance of animals as compared to human beings.
This was evident when the gods failed to inform people of the impending floods (Pinsent, 21).
The Inupiat culture inculcates good human conduct among humans to ensure peace and
sustainability. Evils and evil spirits are greatly condemned as they disrupt peace and order in

Explain the nature, character and spatial distribution of world cities
Closely associated with the process of globalisation is the notion of World cities . World cities are
those such as London, New York and Tokyo where urban function has moved beyond the national
scale to become a part of the international and global system. They are centres of culture,
economics, employment, tourism, transport and communications and have been referred to as the
command centres of the World s borderless economy.

Personal Integrity And Personality
Integrity is defined in dictionary.com as adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of
moral character; honesty ( Integrity , n.d.), but what does it also mean be to have moral and ethical
principles? The apostle Paul wrote a personal letter to Titus encouraging him in his ministry and
shows him what integritylooks like. The letter that Paul wrote can be applied to both spiritual and
personal integrity. When one has personal growth it affects ones integrity because he or she can go
about their lives more boldly. In Titus chapter 2: 1 12 it states:
1 You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine. 2 Teach the older men to be
temperate, worthy of respect, self controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance. 3
Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or
addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can urge the younger women to
love their husbands and children, 5 to be self controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind,
and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. 6 Similarly,
encourage the young men to be self controlled. 7 In everything set them an example by doing what
is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness 8 and soundness of speech that cannot be
condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say
about us. 9 Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to

Fad Diets In Australia
Intro
Fad dieting is not an effective long term weight loss option, and in fact, it can be very harmful to
your health. The obesity in Australia is rising, with 63% of adults being classified overweight or
obese. In January, one of the leading New Year s Resolutions is to lose weight, and people often
embark on FAD diets in an attempt to lose weight quickly. Is this a good option for overall well
being and weight loss? The answer is no! The definition of a fad diet is a diet that promises quick
weight loss through what is usually an unhealthy and unbalanced diet.
Supporting Argument 1
FAD diets are harmful to your health because cutting out certain food groups results in a lack of
certain nutrients which are necessary for the body to function optimally. An example is the Paleo
diet, which excludes grains and dairy products. Grains are rich in fibre and protein, making them
good for digestion and keeping you feeling full. They also contain a variety of vitamins and
minerals in their bran, and a high supply of B vitamins and healthy fats. Grains are also thought to
help reduce the incidence of heart disease, diabetes and digestive issues. Dairy products are a
major source of calcium and vitamin D, which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The side effects described above, combined with getting bored of the same food, often result in
people giving up the diet and going back to old bad habits, and therefore regaining weight rapidly.
Feelings of failure often set in, new fad diets are started and a pattern of yo yo dieting becomes a
reality. Short term weight loss may occur but inevitably, weight gain occurs in the long term. The
better option is to make healthier sustainable lifestyle choices. How many FAD diets do people
need to try before they realize that they don t last? How much money do people have to spend on
diet books and expensive food before they realize that it doesn t make a huge

The Performance Of The Three Companies
After analyzing the performance of the three companies, located in the U.S., New Zealand, and
Argentina, I have discovered issues that need correction in each of the locations. First off, my
analysis shows that your company s performance in the U.S. is producing at 126% of the acceptable
upper limit. Although you can look at this as successful production, continuously operating at this
rate the company in this location is running the risk for saturating its market. Once the market
becomes saturated with your product, this will cause prices to drop, therefore continuing to
generate revenue will not be easy. Being that production is above standards I do not see a problem
within the structure or the operations within the organization at this location. However, maximizing
the profit margins would be the best strategy. I would recommend throttling back on production
quantity by lowering labor resources, which will help increase the unit profit margin. With the
information, I have gathered on this location my data shows me that with using fewer resources
you can still achieve the same production performance. With cutting back on labor resources, you
will be able to achieve the same goals using less human resources. As a result, the company is
saving desired time and money allowing your profits to increase. I would also like to recommend
utilizing the forecasting technique because this will enable managers to make the correct decisions
by providing valuable information to

Essay On Air Awareness
Currently there is a large amount of research based on the use of the system and its benefits,
although there is nothing in current research that shows the saturation of awareness in the aviation
community. Some of the current research highlights the great benefits of the system, including the
mass gathering of data to identify specific problems within the safety sector. Such as Cardosi,
Falzarano, Han (2008) researchbased on ASRS reports, where they analyzed 386 reports from the
program database and gathered data which yielded a lot of results on the contributing factors of
pilot controller communication errors. The data they gathered was directly based of the ASRS self
reports submitted both by pilots and Air Traffic Controllers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

By providing the users with its benefits of confidentiality and partial immunity, it draws people in to
report the problems that will be used for future identifications and research. Several researchers have
already used the data provided by the system to create further safety information within the aviation
field, although the amount of data the gathered was rather limited and needed a further boost,
which the ASRS system can provide if the majority of personnel are aware of its existence.
Furthermore, a majority of the research literature so far has all been based on the data that the
ASRS has stored, but almost no research has been done on the ASRS awareness within the
aviation community. If the proper research is done on the ASRS and the knowledge of it of the
aviation sector, the field would view a greatly increased input of data and create a truly
preventative system that create an overall safer environment. The current state of awareness of the
ASRS system within the aviation community is severely inconspicuous and under used. Through
the proposed research, additional data will be collected to clearly identify a percentage of people
that are aware of the ASRS program and know how to utilize it.
The proposed hypothesis of this research project is that the ASRS reporting system has a large gap
in the awareness and identification of the current system. To identify

Hardware and Project Considerations When Implementing a...
Hardware and Project Considerations When Implementing A New CRM System The most
effective Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems are deliberately designed to align
and enhance the strategic initiatives and programs of a given business or enterprise. They must
take into account customer preferences, needs and wants as well, and strive to create a foundation
of shared information and insight over time There are a myriad of studies that show how effective
CRM systems are in transforming businesses and making them more customer centric, profitable
and responsive to rapidly changing market requirements. The level of adoption and continued use
of CRM systems also assures a company s culture stays agile enough to respond to changing market
conditions while also keeping the level of expertise and knowledge about customers continually
growing (Chen, Chiu, 2010). Having a single system of record pertaining to all customer
interactions give companies a competitive advantage in that they have greater insight into how
prospects make buying decisions (Wang, Feng, 2012). When implementing a CRM system there are
five critical success factors that are essential to its success and these include cost, risk, scope, time,
and quality. The most effective CRM implementations that deliver the greatest value balance all
five of these factors and synchronize them together to create strategies that deliver consistently
profitable results. These five critical success factors are essential

Jamaica Kincaid s Girl
Jamaica Kincaid s story of Girl, is a mind blowing experience between mother and daughter. This
Essay presents a plot summary of Jamaica Kincaid s Girl as well as providing historical,
societal, religious, scientific and biographical context for the short story. Kincaid s unusual land
difficult to classify piece of short fiction consists of a brief monologue by an Antiguan mother to
her adolescent daughter (Kim Bencel, 2) This is a story, not in verse or order that will remind

This is an Antiqua, British story where things are different, but really no different, than the
upbringing in rural United States. Born in the West Indian Island of Antigua, Kincaid admits
that her desire to write came while she was young, but it seemed like avocation that would elude
her because she knew so little about what it involved (ProQuest Learning, 1). Themes that
included things she had perhaps experienced personally. The poem stresses that the conditions
are so poor that mother must prepare her daughter for womanhood and to find a decent man. It
teaches her to cook certain baked goods and to be a good housekeeper. It alerts her to the not so
nice part of life, and that smiling at a person you dislike is not the same smile you render to a
person you really approve. Girl is rebellious and is reminded at every stop what to do and what
to not do. Mother thinks girl is hell bound and about to be a tramp, (slut). She feels that she may
never get one of the good boys if she acts in a certain way. Being a woman in poverty, her anger
seems to get the best of her in different ways. The voice of the poem gets harsh after a while. It

As a result, young men were being drafted to go and serve in the military. When Ali was noticed
for his fighting, political figures decided to draft him due to his useful fighting skills. Although, Ali
rejected. He rejected because he had just won his heavyweight boxing title and because he did not
want to go to war to kill people. Because of this decision, Ali s heavyweight boxing title was
taken away and he was put in a five year prison sentence. Coming out of prison was hard for Ali.
Because of his racial color, he would get rejected from places such as restaurants. A lot of people
turned him down and he wasn t allowed to fight back in the ring. But, Ali didn t give up and soon
found an opportunity that brought him to become the first person in history, to win the
heavyweight champion title three times. Muhammad Ali was not only the first person in history
to win the heavyweight champion title three times, but he was also a person who never gave up

The Play Our Town
The play Our Town was something so unique and simple, but it somehow found a way to relate
with everyone. Its simplicity seemed to be a hit or miss with many audience members. It was
one of those plays that you relate so much with it you enjoy its minimalistic nature, or you find it
too typical and boring. I happen to be among the group that found this play to be very appealing.
I feel that at many times, little to no scenery and props make it hard to visualize the scene of a
play. However, with Our Town the addition of a stage manager to give an explanation of each
scene made up for that entirely. The stage manager of the playhad to be my absolutely favorite
character. I found him witty and expressive. He made his voice emit the right type of sound
when articulating his point. Even his facial expressions matched the mood his character was
meant to be in. He fit his character so well that if it weren t for him, I wouldn t have enjoyed the
play as much as I did. As a whole he was a great actor. He did all the right gestures and made his
acting feel so natural. It was like he was having a conversation with the audience. I think the
element of his character is what created a connection with the play and myself. Another actor that
was suitable for his character was the one who played Howie Newsome, the milkman. His
character was very fascinating in how he managed to act along with the sound effects, and was on
time. He was very enthusiastic in his scenes. For example, every

Morbius Fatal Folly
As pointed out by Merrell Knighten in his essay called The Triple Paternity of Forbidden Planet,
the main difference between Shakespeare s The Tempest and the 1956 science fiction adaptation
Forbidden Planet (referred to as FP) is the use and control of power. In The Tempest, Prospero
knows what power he holds through the use of his books and spells, and ultimately uses these
powers to restore order to the island. However, in forbidden Planet, Morbius powers are unknown
to him and ultimately lead to his demise. This essay will show how Morbius may be considered a
more disastrous character than Prospero due to his lack of realization of the power which ... Show

For Miranda s lover Ferdinand, the film inserts Commander Adams who is in fact the leader of
the rescue expedition sent to relieve Dr. Morbius and his supposed companions. There are no
relations between the film and the play with regards to Morbius fellow colonizers of Altair 4,
but this has to do with the fact that the film was a sci fi adaptation. The drunken butler Stephano
is countered in the film with the Tennessee bourbon sloshing space cook. The character of
Caliban resonates in the film by use of the Id monster, and finally Ariel is engrossed through the
character of Robby the Robot. A closer reading of some of the characters in FP will reveal
parallels outlined by Campos. Campos shines light on the fact that [Prospero and Morbius] are
figures that, isolated from the rest of mankind, have devoted their lives to the study of some books
which have granted them an extraordinary, almost supernatural power (Campos, 285). The main
connections between the two are their utilization of science and magic. As pointed out by Campos,
the film gives a clear implication that science becomes the magic of the future (286). This statement
seems to be truthful as in Shakespeare s time magic would be thought to be no different from the
scientific breakthroughs of our time. For example a Shakespearean audience would marvel at the
strides science has taken in the modern day, such as the utilization of electricity.

Examples Of Persona Of The Masses In The Great Gatsby
Persona of the Masses On weekends his Rolls Royce became an omnibus bearing parties to and
from the city between nine in the morning and long past midnight, while his station wagon
scampered like a brisk yellow bug to meet all trains (39). Certainly, few knew the authentic Jay
Gatsby from the novel The Great Gatsbyby F. Scott Fitzgerald. People thought they could fathom
him, but countless were fabricated lies. Copious amounts of people in our society progress
through life like this also. Never showing who they genuinely are because of shame or even fear
of not being accepted by others. Gatsby represents in our society, how people put on a persona to
be likeable to the masses.
Gatsby was a household name around New York at the time of the era in the book. Everyone
knew of his extravagant parties and his mansion, of sorts. By midnight the hilarity had increased.
A celebrated tenor had sung in Italian, and a notorious contralto had sung in jazz, and between
the numbers people were doing stunts all over the garden, while happy, vacuous bursts of
laughter rose toward the summer sky (46). The parties threw by Gatsby were a rage, he threw all
theses flashy parties just so maybe, Daisy would come and she would notice how rich he is. In
society now people try to obtain all the new clothes, cars, the newest iPhone even. We ve been
taught if you don t have all theses things then you won t be accepted. An outcast, and you don t

Online vs Offline Distribution Strategies for Hotels
In order to set the context of the presentation, it is important to examine where the distribution
strategy takes place in the global marketing strategy. According to Meidan and Lee (1982), four
main stages constitute the global marketing strategy of hotels: identification of the target market
and the needs of these customers; formulation of the marketingobjectives; definition of the
constraints (mainly linked to the environment of the hotel); and finally, allocation of marketing
resources. This last stage can itself be divided in four components, following the Marketing Mix
model of McCarthy (1960): product, place (also called distribution), promotion and price.

Innovative distribution strategies such as IVR Hotel Reservation System and Promoted Hotels on
Google Hotel Finder are the future, where it will be easier for Hoteliers to promote themselves

Various innovations in social media can eventually lead to the death of Online Travel Agencies. But
on the other hand, search engines will have nothing to worry about as there is hardly anything
better than search.
There has been a rapid increase in mobile bookings in recent years. More and more people have
started using their mobile devices to make various reservations. Hence, Hoteliers should also focus
more on developing their mobile websites, enhancing the user experience and making their website

ensure that all the content on the site is multi lingual because information is accessed by a global
market. In today s world, travellers are exposed to so much information coming via different
platforms that they no longer keep track of the source of information or even the format. They do
not know the difference between media channels and content formats. In other words, the coming

Genetic Disease Is An Autosomal Dominant Neurodegenerative...
Genetic diseases are diseases that are passed on from parents to their offspring. An example of a
genetic disease which can be inherited is Huntington Disease. Huntington Disease is an autosomal
dominant neurodegenerative disorder with midlife onset characterised by psychiatric, cognitive and
motor symptoms (G. Vonsattel and DiFiglia, 1998). The statistics for HD blah blah blah Like all
genetic diseases, huntington s disease has a specific inheritance pattern.
Huntington disease is an autosomal disease this means that the defective gene does not occur on
one of the sex chromosomes but instead it occurs on one of the other 22 chromosomes (known
as autosomes). It is a also a dominant disorder so therefore only one copy of the altered gene,
passed on from a parent who has it, is necessary to cause their offspring to inherit the disease. If
one of the parents has the defective gene their offspring will have a 50/50 chance of inheriting that
gene. (See Figure 1).
If the offspring inherits the gene it is guaranteed that they will develop Huntington s disease at
some point in their life time, the disease does not skip generations. The defective gene is not
present on either of the sex chromosomes resulting in the disease being independent of gender. This
means that male and female offspring will have an equal risk of inheriting the disease. The faulty
gene (the HD gene) that is to blame for the development of huntington s disease is located on
chromosome 4 (See Figure 2), it

Fidel and the Soviet Union then saw that their relationship could be very beneficial and this
incident helped lead to their decision to place nuclear missiles in Cuba.
Only a few months after the United States sponsored Cuban invasion at the Bay of Pigs, Fidel
Castro had declared himself to be Marxist Leninist, obligating the Soviet Union to protect his
vulnerable communist nation. After Fidel asked the Soviet Union for weapons, trade alliances,
and even Soviet soldiers, the Soviets suggested a different approach medium range ballistic
missiles. Castro agreed, and in 1962, Cuba was the center of world focus when the United States
discovered the construction sites of Soviet nuclear missiles on Cuban soil. Posing an obvious
threat to American safety, the Cuban Missile Crisis, brought the world the closest it ever came to
nuclear war. As the tensions of the Missile Crisis grew, Castro wrote Soviet leader Nikita
Khrushchev urging him to use the missiles and to sacrifice Cuba if necessary. Being only 90 miles

Descriptive Essay About Mya
Mya and I always had this sort of tradition when the first of October settled upon us. Ever since
freshman year of high school, we placed it upon ourselves to find a restaurant of cafГ© of some
sort here in Haynes and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa. The air by that time was generally beginning to
feel frigid, and to the two of us, that meant it was about time we break out the savory drinks,
mini marshmallows, and of course, the sweet and frothy whipped cream. Thus, this year, we
met at the Cabin, a small restaurant which sat on the border of Haynes and the Foxborough
Woods. Large windows replaced the western wall of the quaint restaurant so the patrons of the
Cabin may watch the Autumn trees and their leaves sway back and forth in the gentle breeze of
this mid afternoon. I ran my finger along the rim of the porcelain cup which sat in front of me,
half empty of the chocolate beverage and completely drained of what whipped cream that had
arrived with it. Compared to some of the other hot cocoa s Mya and I had tasted over the
previous years, this one was rather a letdown. Between its more watered down taste and the lack
of marshmallows, I was sorely disappointed. Nonetheless, hot cocoa was hot cocoa, so I
continued to sip away as did my friend. I watched as Mya sat upright in her chair and ran her
fingers, whose nails were glossed over with a vibrant pink, through her blonde, bobbed hair. That
was the signal that she was interested in starting a conversation, but if I knew one

Tom Stoppard and the Crime-Writing Genre
Mankind has perpetually maintained a fascination with what constitutes a crime and enjoyed
piecing together the clues that authors of the crime genre provide us in solving their mysteries, thus
appealing to our curiosity in the darker side of our humanity. The crime writing genre embodies
humankind in its fullest, revealing our potential for both good and evil, a notion that is responsible
for the genres cross contextual survival and universal appeal. It is due to this undying interest that
writers of crime texts have the ability to subvert conventions and thereby deconstruct the
philosophical and psychological assumptions that crime fiction is constructed upon. By subverting
the conventions of the crime writing genre, composers are able to more freely explore issues
concerning their respective contexts, a significant factor that has contributed to the genre s
endurance. Tom Stoppard s play The Real Inspector Hound is a post modern text which utilises its
absurdist nature to reflect the nihilistic philosophy of crime. The text simultaneously adheres to and
discards the conventions of the crime genre through its employment of parody and its satirical
characteristics.
Tom Stoppard s The Real Inspector Hound , first performed in 1968, is a one act play and dual
satire of Agatha Christie s conventional Golden Age, cosy locked room mystery The Mousetrap and
the crime writing genre itself. Though the setting of the action is in a theatre, the play within a play

Vietnamese Families Experience Essay
As a little girl born in Vietnam and having grown up in poverty, I can understand the struggles
that many other unprivileged Vietnamese families experience. At a young age my family and I

Analysis Of The Poem Hawai I
Hawai i is known by the rest of the world primarily for its tropical weather, exquisite scenery, and
luxurious resorts. Millions of tourists visit Hawai i annually to forget their worries within this
universally perceived paradise.
For the indigenous people of Hawai i, whose ancestors have cultivated this land for generations, the
idea of paradise only conceals the enduring oppression that dictates their reality.
The oppression of native Hawaiians emerged during the 18th century with the attempts of western
settlers to colonize the archipelago and impose their beliefs on to the natives. Along with them
came diseases that collapsed the native population, while introduced plant and animal species
devastated the archipelago s delicate ecosystem.
On January 17th, 1893, the Hawaiian Monarchy was illegally overthrown by American
businessmen who called themselves the Republic of Hawai i. Since then, the native Hawaiian
population has been marginalized within their own homelands, while their lands were desecrated
by the imperialists of the United States.
In 1896, the Hawaiian language is prohibited by the United States federal government from all
public schools. Students who could only speak Hawaiian were either silenced or punished
severely under this law. In 1929, the military occupies Makua valley on the island of O ahu and
uses the land for training. From 1941 to 1990, the entire island of Kaho olawe was used as an
arena for military bombing practice.

Similarities Between Catt And Susan B Anthony
Woodrow Wilson, Carrie Chapman Catt, and Susan B. Anthony share a common purpose in their
addresses advocating women s suffrage.Wilson s Address to the Senate on the Nineteenth
Amendment expresses the opinion he holds about the lack of control over women being able to
vote; he prioritizes the use of logos to create an argument consisting of present fact and his own
belief of how the rest of the world will see them as a nation if they do not ratify the Nineteenth
Amendment. Catt s The Crisis analyzes her present issue of the acknowledgement of women s
suffrage. Catt explains that through the acknowledgement of women s suffrage, women have been
given more freedom, yet not the same equality as men. Catt wants more than just exceptions to
social rules, she wants people to understand that a woman is not only an imperative cog in the
societal machine, but equality should never be a crisis again. Susan B. Anthonywastes no time
getting to the point in On Women s Right to Vote; she instantly begins her speech with a strong
denial of allegations thrown her way and moves right in to speak about the government basing a
law off the sex of a person and how the government is not treated as a democracy. Through each of
these addresses Wilson, Catt, and Anthony are divided by their point of view and united by their
cause, yet only Carrie Chapman Catts address holds the most effective reasoning.

An alternative is to use air as the cooling medium but their performance drops in hot weather
conditions. Maximization of overall efficiency is as vital as the cost and availability of water.
Therefore there is a need to integrate the technologies of air cooled and water cooled condensers.
This paper will focus on parallel condensing where steam from the turbine is ducted in parallel to
both air cooled and water cooled condensers. To optimize the parallel condensing capacities of air
cooled and water cooled condensers considering parameters such as ambient temperature, pressure,
availability of water, fan power, pumping costs.
Keywords: Optimization; Enhancement; Hybrid Cooling System;
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Exhaust steam from the steam turbine is separated into two streams. One stream flows into a water
cooled surface condenser while the other is directed to an air cooled condenser. The heated
cooling water is cooled as it flows through a cooling tower, where air is forced through the tower
by mechanical or natural draft. Fig .1

Thomas Jefferson s Ragtime
Thomas Jefferson once said, Every generation needs a new revolution. Thomas Jefferson indicates
that every generation needs a group of motivated people hoping to fix the broken pieces in soceity.
E.L Doctorow uses Thomas Jefferson s imperative thought as an occurring theme in the novel
Ragtime. E.L Doctorow does so by using three distinct revolutionaries, each with different qualities;
the youngster, Mother s Younger Brother, the significant anarchist, Emma Goldman, and the
infamous menace to society, Coalhouse Walker. Although the revolutionaries of Ragtime

Coalhouse Walker, plays his tune on the piano, Ragtime, which is like a change in society. It
represents how history changes continually and it changes like a tune in dynamics. Coalhouse is
a part of the very own tune he plays when he sets out to become a revolutionary. The actions
leading to Coalhouse s crude and violent plans were his hope to set to create fire and burn down
American ideals, to change them for the better. Coalhouse was totally valid in performing the
actions that he did. He did not intend to do them, but was forced to fire the trigger so he could
give his people the rights that they deserved. The breaking down of his car only represented a
start to a revolutionary. When he meets, Booker T. Washington, he responds with pride and
respect as a revolutionary. For instance, Coalhouse spoke softly. It is a great honor for me to
meet you, sir, he said. I have always stood in admiration for you. He looked at the marble floor. It
is true that I am a musician and a man of year. But I would hope this might suggest to you the

demands, Coalhouse talks to Booker T Washington and tries to show him from his sharp words
that by just standing and hoping for manhood, our people won t achieve their rights, but by
fighting and rebelling, we demand America to redefine equality. Coalhouse is deeply sliced by
the death of Sarah, and his decision for demanding equality is on the verge to his death. He

My Teaching Philosophy Of Teaching For Physical Education
EPE 100 has not only taught me so much about becoming a teacher but a ton about myself. Prior
to EPE 100, I felt as though I had a solid understanding of what it meant to be a physical education
teacher. Do a quick warm up, Rally the students, put them into teams, explain the rules and let them
go at it. Man oh man was I wrong. Throughout readings, assignments, and practice I now believe to
have a much better understanding of what it means to be a physical educationteacher. There has
been three major ideas that have begun to influence my teachingphilosophy; Teaching for physical
literacy and skill development not just sports, embracing physical activity as a lifelong journey
and challenging all students inside and outside of the classroom. These three concepts are very
important to me as I begin my teaching career and are the three highlights in which I took out of
EPE 100. It took me a very poor micro teaching experience to finally understand that physical
education is truly about more than just sports. You learn more from failure, than you do from
success this is a quote that I hear very often from various coaches and teachers. I think this
perfectly sums up my micro teaching experience, while it was not a completely failure it served
as a very important lesson to me. It was not until I was placed into a teaching situation that I fully
realised not everyone is going to excell, and that one cannot expect the whole class to be able to
pick up a sport in one lesson. Nick

The Inherent Ethical Dilemma Of A Company
The inherent ethical dilemma that presents itself in this case is whether or not it is ethical to cut
corners to make a profit. The management is aware of the issue, yet continues to allow the
defective drives to be sold in order to attempt to appease the company s new CEO. Is it ethical for a
company to sell a defective product in order to avoid loss?
The obvious IT component that lends itself to the circumstances of this case takes the form of the
defective Hard Drives. However, there are many other possible IT components playing a role in the
background. Such components would include an inventory management system and a defect
management system, alongside App and Database servers respectively to allow these systems to
function properly. Other IT components at work may include a CRM system for ensuring
customer satisfaction, a POS system, possibly including hardware such as scanners for sales and
returns. Desktops and laptops may also be in use by employees of the company, as well as an
Intranet and Extranet to share and access information on those machines.
One critical stakeholder in the case is the CEO of PrimeDrive, Mr. Stokes. An important right for
him as the head of the company is the right to use his business to generate a profit and run the
business as he sees fit. Another stakeholder are the managers of PrimeDrive, who have the right to
manage their departments as they envisioned. The consumers are also a critical stakeholder who

Anorexia And Bulimia Outline
1.) Eating disorders are self critical, negative thoughts and feelings about body weight and food.
This results in eating habits that disrupts normal body function. There are two types of eating
disorders, anorexia and bulimia. Anorexia gives an extreme fear of weight gain and a distorted
view of their body size and shape. Bulimia gives people habitual binge eating and will make them
purge. 2.) It is unsure of what causes eating disorders, but it is suspected that psychological,
genetic, social, and family factors are thought to be a cause. Eating disorders can be prevented by
constantly saying I m fat, complain about exercise, and practice yo yo dieting. This might make

Inequality Discrimination On The Workplace
Nowadays, with increasing variety in organizations, several inequalities in the workplace have
happened. In spite of the regulation policies which have limited inequalities on the workplace, it
still exists, because of personal characteristics, such as gender, age and different race (Allan, C
Mcphail, R Wilkinson, A 2008, p. 225). Inequality in the workplaces can be defined as the unfair
discriminationrelating to things, such as wage differentials between men and women, unfair
practices and unfairness opportunities, particularly with regard to employment of people of
different ethnic origins (Grainge, 2007, online). C2E TODAY (Committed 2 Equality) shows that
in spite of large UK companies declaring that they have eliminated inequalities in the workplace
around 77 per cent of them have little or no equality practices. Even though small companies
situation is more serious, 97.5 per cent of them have no equality practices in place (Committed 2
Equality, 2008, online). This paper will analyze several inequalities exist on the workplace with the
use of real facts for concentrating on gender, age and race, and demonstrate the role of the
participants within employments relations by discussing the responses from the state, employers
and unions.

F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby Essay
Man dreams of living the life of the elite social class and of the power and admiration inherent
within. F. Scott Fitzgerald comes to terms with this American dream in The Great Gatsby, a novel
about social life in the 1920 s. The social hierarchy of the times plays a very important role in this
novel. Here Fitzgerald illustrates three specific social classes: old money, new money, and lower
class, with old money and new money taking center stage. Gatsby himself personifies new money;
he made himself into a rich man through shady dealings. Tom Buchanan, on the other hand,
represents old money. He received everything he has on a silver platter. He earned nothing but his
inheritance. At the time, it was extremely desirable to be old money,... Show more content on

Tom refuses because marrying into a lower social class would develop into even more of a scandal
than having a mistress. This corrupted American dream prevents Tom from openly allowing
Myrtle into his life. Old money s highly discriminating nature allows its members to attain
superiority, while this self serving superiority further enhances their American dream. The
attempts of new money to imitate old money remain futile. For example, although Daisy truly
loves Gatsby, he represents new money. Despite his attempts to become old money, the old rich
have never embraced him. Daisy cannot be with him because he is not and never will be of her
class. Gatsby even offers to take the blame for a murder she committed, yet she will nott even
leave her husband for him. quot; Was Daisy driving? Yes, he said after a moment. but of course I
ll say I was. quot; (p. 151). Daisy allows Gatsby to take the blame for her without showing either
remorse or gratitude. In this way, Fitzgerald shows that although old money people count
themselves rich monetarily, they show a lack of morality and accountability. Daisy s carelessness
and irresponsibility cause her to need others to clean up after her without caring who takes the fall.
Old money s arrogance and haughtiness make their misguided American dream more of an
American nightmare. The elite created the American dream in order to make themselves and others
think they are superior. They are not, in fact, above all others, but have

Abnormal Intracellular Zinc Metabolism Caused by Disruption of the TRPL1 TMEM163 Protein
Interaction
Keywords: Zinc, TRP ion channel, Lysosomes, TMEM163, MLIV
Mucolipidosis type IV (MLIV) is a human lysosomal storage disorder characterized early in life by
neurodegeneration, visual impairment, low muscle tone, and impaired secretion of gastric acid1.
MLIV is caused by loss of function mutations or deletions in the Mucolipin 1 gene2 resulting in the
absence or a dysfunctional protein product called transient receptor potential mucolipin 1
(TRPML1) ion channel. TRPML1 consists of six predicted transmembrane (TM) domains with
channel features showing inward rectification, and non selective permeability to calcium (Ca2+),
zinc (Zn2+), iron (Fe2+), and manganese (Mn2+) 3. Some of the cellular phenotypic
characteristics of TRPML1 dysfunction include hyperacidic lysosomes, lysosomal swelling, and
lipid accumulation. More recently, irregular levels of specific trace metals have been suggested to
contribute to the abnormal cellular phenotype, as well as the progressive cell degeneration
associated with TRPML1 dysfunction4.
The permeability of Zn2+ to TRPML1 suggests that this ion channel may play a role in Zn2+
regulation. A recent investigation of cytoplasmic Zn2+ accumulation in TRPML1 dysfunctional
cells suggests the possibility that this protein may normally function to transfer Zn2+ from the
lysosome to the cytoplasm5. Other studies suggest a significant increase of Zn2+ in the

Fodor s Functionalism Essay
Fodor s Functionalism
Fodor begins his article on the mind body problem with a review of the current theories of dualism
and materialism. According to dualism, the mind and body are two separate entities with the body
being physical and the mind being nonphysical. If this is the case, though, then there can be no
interaction between the two. The mind could not influence anything physical without violating the
laws of physics. The materialist theory, on the other hand, states that the mind is not distinct from
the physical. In fact, supporters of the materialist theory believe that behavior does not have mental

certain results. Thus, if the same symbols yielded the same results in two separate systems, then the
mental states can be seen as similar, or even identical. Along this vein, consider a computer
programmed with the same reasoning process as a mind. When the input B is entered, the output
depends both upon B and upon the state of the system resulting from the computation of A. If the
computer was programmed with the exact same reasoning process as a mind, then the result would
be the same. Thus, the mental state of the mind would be indistinguishable from the systemic state
of the computer. The computer metaphor upholds the theory of functionalism because the output is
the result of interaction between the input and the current state of the system. The metaphor also
demonstrates the insignificance of the physical state of the system when determining whether two
mental states are alike. Thus, it shows that the processes, rather than the composition, of the system
determine the mental state.
Searle disagrees with the view that the physical composition of the system does not influence the
mental state of the

Gingival Stereotypes In Syria
There are several differences among the male and female populations of Syria. In Syria, the
average height of males is five feet, eight inches and females are generally five feet, one and a
half inches ( Average , 2016). Syrians are stereotyped as having olive toned skin, black eyes, and
black hair, but in fact, many have very light skin, brown or blonde hair, and blue or green eyes
(Das, 2017). A native group, the Kurds, have light skin, green eyes, and blonde hair (Das, 2017). A
majority of this population have almond shaped eyes. Gingival biotypes may affect dental treatment
success. Females have thin gingival biotypes with triangular shaped teeth and males have thick
biotypes with square teeth (Barakat Dayoub, 2016, p. 141 ). The people... Show more content on

Salmonella Of Salmonella And Enteritidis
Salmonella is a communicable disease that is caused by the salmonella enterica bacterium. There
are many types of this bacteria including salmonella Typhimurium and Enteritidis. Salmonella is
most common in young children and elderly who have impaired immune systems meaning they are
more likely to contract infections. Salmonellais one of the most reported causes of food poisoning
in the UK.
Types:
All types of salmonella come from the genus Salmonella, the bacteria then gets divided up into
categories. The majority of the components in each bacteria are about 95% identical for example
E. coli and Salmonella are around 60% identical at the DNA level.
There are 3 main serovars of salmonella; Typhimurium, Typhi and Enteritidis. A serovar is a distinct
variation of a bacteria and are classed together based upon their similarities. The distinct types help
the scientists create effective treatment to target the certain type of salmonella, which makes the
treatment more effective because it distinguishes the exact strain of salmonella to cure it.
Biological structure:
This biological structure of a salmonella bacteria contains; ribosomes, cytoplasm, bacterial
flagellum, mesosome, cell wall, and a plasma membrane.
Ribosomes This is a tiny particle made up from RNA and a large number of proteins found in the
cytoplasm. Ribosomes bind to messenger RNA and then synthesises proteins.
Cytoplasm This is the fluid found within the cell.
Bacterial Flagellum It is a long hair like

Role Of Gods In The Odyssey
The Odyssey details Odysseus arduous return to his homeland. Ten years have passed since the
end of the Trojan war and Odysseus, the most cursed man alive , has been missing and presumed
dead by many. (10.79). Throughout the novel, gods play a significant role in the fate of
Odysseus and other characters. The extent of the gods role though is not unqualified, contrary to
Telemachus suggestion that, Zeus is to blame./He deals to each and every/ laborer on this earth
whatever doom he pleases (1.401 403). While Zeus does have this power, his description of how
humans meet their fate is more accurately depicted throughout the novel. As he aptly points out,
from us alone, the say, come all their miseries, yes,/ but they themselves, with their own reckless
ways,/ compound their pain beyond their proper share (1.38 52). While the gods do doom certain
mortals, many of these mortals exacerbate their ill fate by making rash decisions and ignoring the
gods warnings. The gods are also not always disrupting mortals lives; they often aid mortals in
need. In fact, mortals who effectively court the favor of the gods often benefit greatly. While the
gods powers are unquestionable, no one god s power is insurmountable. Gods can be outsmarted
and their wrath escaped. The Odyssey, in congruence with Zeus statement, ultimately, portrays
human freedom as existent, but limited.
While mortals do not unjustly complain about their fates, they fail to acknowledge that they are
also responsible for their ill fate, as mortals themselves, possess a sizable degree of control. There
is little doubt that Odysseus and his crew are unlucky, but had it not been for their brash decisions
they would have reached Ithaca much sooner. After Odysseus cunningly escapes the Cyclops,
Polyphemos, his pride gets the best of him, as taunts the Polyphemos proclaiming, if any man on
the face of the earth should ask you/ who blinded you, shamed you so say Odysseus/ raider of
cities, he gouged out your eye (9.559 561). Odysseus arrogance furthers his misfortune, since
Polyphemos is Poseidon s son. Polyphemos proceeds to ask his father to never allow Odysseus to
return and if Odysseus returns home that it be well over due and without his crew;

Socialism
Today, more than ever, there is great debate over politics and which economic system works the
best. How needs and wants should be allocated, and who should do the allocating, is one of the
most highly debated topics in our current society. Be it communist dictators defending a command
economy, free market conservatives defending a market economy, or European liberals defending
socialism, everyone has an opinion. While all systems have flaws and merits, it must be decided
which system is the best for all citizens. When looking at both the financial well being of all
citizens, it is clear that market economies fall short on ensuring that the basic needs of all citizens
are met. If one looks at liberty and individual freedom, it is evident... Show more content on

The population of unemployed and underemployed explodes. There is a vicious circle here.
Because so many seek work, wages are very low. Because one wage cannot support even a small
family, more and more family members must seek employment. This move adds to the pool of
labor and further depresses wages. (Syracuse U. Press) Further, if wages begin to rise in one
country, other countries seize the opportunity and lower their wages even further. With this cycle
of falling wages and more and more people needing jobs, poverty increases drastically. With
wages so low, the owners of these large companies get richer and richer the vast majority of wealth
in a country becomes concentrated in one small group of people. While this is good for those few,
the vast majority of citizens are shorthanded. Capitalism is an excellent system for the elite and for
increasing efficiency, but as far as providing for the needs of all of its citizens, it falls short.
Thus, capitalism is a system that causes and perpetuates poverty, and exploits its lower class.
Capitalism, or market economies in general, are systems of greed, and therefore support and
commend corruption. In a capitalistic society, everything is based off of greed and self interest.
People are forced to provide their own means, because no one else is going to do it for them.

Identify and evaluate the key factors which influence the effectiveness and strength of a mentoring
relationship.|
This essay will start by defining mentoring, and giving a brief understanding of mentoring. This
essay will then go on to identify and evaluate a number of key factors that may influence the
effectiveness of a mentoring relationship. This essay will focus on the example of mentoring within
schools and a learning mentor to be more specific.
Firstly this essay will look at the difference between coaching and mentoring. Both coaching and
mentoring are processes that allow both individual and schools to achieve their full potential.

A Learning Mentor is a relatively new concept in the field of education and is used within schools
to support them in raising standards.
Specifically Learning mentors are placed in schools to raise pupils attainment, improve attendance
and to reduce permanent and fixed term exclusions. Many schools have successfully implemented
the Learning Mentor programme and assessed that the impact is evident on individuals and groups
of pupils (George, 2010)
Learning mentors tend to work on a one to one level or in small numbered groups, a learning
mentor must be a good listener, be able to encourage and motivate and act as a role model and
encourage the build up of a mutually respectful relationship (Hayward, 2001).
According to Hayward (2001), Learning Mentors have had an incredible impact on individual
pupils lives, in some cases transforming low achieving and unfocused students with minimal self
esteem and a lack of commitment into more confident pupils with higher grades, improved
motivation and a sense of direction. What all Learning Mentors have in common is their aim to
break down barriers to learning , unlocking education opportunities for school students and releasing
hitherto untapped potential (Hayward,

Cmsgt Colon-Lopez s Carnivore Leadership
CMSgt Colon Lopez displays the characteristics of a visionary leader by charging leaders to set
the example for our airmen and by creating a need for change in people s minds. In his article
titled Carnivore Leadership, he uses full range leadership, specifically, the application of idealized
influence in order to lead airmen through tough times. He does this by charging leaders with setting
the example for our airmen, which is part of what the full range leadershiplesson discuses by
portraying the leader as a role model. According to the Thomas N. Barnes Center for Enlisted
Education [BCEE] (2016d), idealized influence is the component of transformational behavior that

Additionally, he applies part of the change management process, specifically the unfreezing stage,
by initially creating a felt need for change. Chief Colon Lopez (2013) discusses being always
physically ready and displaying a proper military image as well as donning the uniform right,
including the physical training uniform as a symbol of loyalty and commitment to service.
These are all principles that display what a leader with idealized influenced should do. In other
words as it is also known talk the talk and walk the walk or actually doing what we preach. Chief
Colon Lopez (2013) notes, Let your expectations be known, all while leading from the front and
setting the pace (p. 6). He is charging the leaders to make sure that the airmen know what is
expected of them as well as to go out and be the example for them by setting the pace and let
them emulate you. This reflects what an idealized influenced leader should do. Chief Colon
Lopez is trying to change the way our culture thinks and looks at our standards of physical
training and dress and appearance. To do this one of the first processes that we must take is to
unfreeze which is the fist step to apply change. This is intended to motivate subordinates and help
them get ready for change by creating a felt need for such

The Legal And Social Implications Of Prostitution
The legal and social implications of prostitution have been a topic of much concern over the past
few decades. Although the issue has been heavily debated, a proper answer to its legalization or
criminalization has not yet been defined in many countries throughout the world. While some view
that sex work is a justifiable occupation that should be protected under human rights, others argue
that it s legalization would do more harm than good. According to the Health and Human Rights
Journal (2014), the Russian Federation has little justification for its criminalization of sex work,
and the vulnerability of sex workers demand for their protection under Human Rights. Although,
both New York Times articles agree with the model for criminalizing the purchasing of sex services
rather than the selling, Thrupkaew focuses on the need to provide basic social services for sex
workers first (Thrupkaew 2012), while Flanagin argues to ensure that women and young girls do
not become victims of this criminalization. Throughout the Health and Human Rights Journal, the
author develops a premise against the Russian Federations criminalization of prostitution, more
commonly referred to as sex work. It is crucially noted for full understanding that sex workers are
female, male and transgender adults and young people who receive money or goods in exchange
for sexual services (Arps and Golichenko 2014). Arps and Golichenko declare that the vulnerable
condition and discrimination of sex

him and now I m really glad I do. His life has been so interesting to learn about that I think instead
of just being mentioned in a show, there should be a show made about him! Ralph Laurenwas born
on October 14, 1939 in the Bronx, New York City. His family included his parents (Frank and

hit the TV screen in movies such as, The Great Gatsby and Annie Hall. It was around this time that
Ralph said something truly inspirational to all people interested in fashion. He said, I m interested
in longevity, timelessness, style not fashion. His work really expressed what he said as he
focused on classic American clothing. Ralph s business eventually grew to have things such as,
children s clothing, footwear, colognes, home products, and others. He now has hundreds of
international stores and even factories that make his merchandise. Ralph has even designed the
uniforms for the Olympics for Team USA. I think that is really cool. Like everybody, Ralph has
had many hardships. In the mid 1980 s Ralph discovered he had a brain tumor and had to have
surgery. Ever since then he has funded many cancer research places to look for a cure. His
amazing contributions led to the creation of the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Prevention and

Analysis Of Big Two Hearted River By Ernest Hemingway
Big Two Hearted River , a semi autobiographical short story by Ernest Hemingway, is a story
about the main character, Nick, returning to Big Two Hearted River in order to recover from his
inner wounds. Nick Adams goes on a journey alone in nature for a therapeutic purpose as he
suffers from PTSD. However, Hemingway purposely avoided any direct discussion regarding to
Nick s mental wounds. The absence of the discussion is contributed by Hemingway s writing style,
the Iceberg principle. Hemingway focuses explicitly on what occurs on the surface without
mentioning actual theme. This indicates that the theme of self healing cannot be uncovered by
simply looking at the text itself. In order to comprehend the actual theme of the story, the character
development of Nick must be examined. This is possible since Nick Adamsis a recurring character
of Hemingway s stories. The two preceding stories of Big Two Hearted River , Now I lay me and
A Way you ll Never Be , directly discusses Nick s suffering from shell shock and how he comforts
himself by returning to Big Two Hearted river in his mind. The two short stories will be analyzed
and connected to Big Two Hearted River in the essay first. This will provide a strong
understanding of Nick s psyche and the reason behind his return to nature. Then, Big Two Hearted
River the short storyitself will be carefully analyzed. The dozen of the Nick Adams stories allowed
Nick to develop his character from a child to an adult. The

  • 2. Psychiatric Institutions After the Mental Health Institutions shut down, where do you think all their patents went? In the New York Times, there is a discussion topic about why Psychiatric Institutions Are a Necessity, In this article, professionals discuss why psychiatric institutions need to come back, and the reason is to keep mentally ill people out of prisons, get them the care they deserve and for them to have affordable housing once they leave the Institution. One of the biggest problems we are facing is not enough government funding for mental healthservices and affordable housing. I fully support for psychiatric institutions to come back, but not the kind that are shown in horror movies, but clean and safe places for people. Bringing back psychiatric institutions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But others will leave at some point and live on their own. That is why affordable housing is so important, it will keep them from becoming homeless. In New York City, congregate housing which includes shared apartment buildings, scattered site supported housing and community residences is supplemented with case management and treatment supports. It provides a holistic, systemic approach to mental health service that sustains the dignity of the individuals and their families. It keeps recovery central and protects public safety... Unfortunately, there is not enough housing to address the need, and not enough support to get people out of inappropriate institutions and off the streets and out of jails. With this special housing, it will keep the patients and the public safer. It will keep mentally ill people off the streets and give them a safe environment. People with mental illness can have full, healthy, and safe lives in the community with the right ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Examples Of Greed In A Christmas Carol In stave two of Charles Dickens novella, A Christmas Carol, the greedy and pessimistic Ebenezer Scrooge meets the Ghost of Christmas Past and re experiences his Christmases both prior to becoming a scrooge and at the onset of his pessimism and greed. Scrooge describes the Ghost of Christmas Past in the phrase, that from the crown of its head there sprung a bright, clear jet of light, (Dickens 30) and this light itself is the symbol of knowledge and truth from the spirits. Scrooge, after spending a whole night with the Ghost of ChristmasPast will be enlightened and shown the truth of what he has become, for he does not truly remember what the joys of Christmas were prior to the development of his greed. The Three Creation Myths Question One The signs of miracles and or Magic discussed in the creation myths Each of the creation myths reveals some form of supernatural power beyond human understanding. One common magic that is common is creation from nothing . It is believed that a supreme deity who existed from the beginning of time solely participated in creation. With the emptiness that existed, the Supreme Being creates through uttering words or body secretions (Pinsent, 18). He then organizes the world into the form that it exists presently. It is also a common belief that the supreme deity has power to give life to human through his breath. As much as he could engage in physical creation, he also shared the life in them to humans. • 6. Personal Integrity And Personality Integrity is defined in dictionary.com as adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty ( Integrity , n.d.), but what does it also mean be to have moral and ethical principles? The apostle Paul wrote a personal letter to Titus encouraging him in his ministry and shows him what integritylooks like. The letter that Paul wrote can be applied to both spiritual and personal integrity. When one has personal growth it affects ones integrity because he or she can go about their lives more boldly. In Titus chapter 2: 1 12 it states: 1 You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine. 2 Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance. 3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. 6 Similarly, encourage the young men to be self controlled. 7 In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness 8 and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us. 9 Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to ... • 7. Fad Diets In Australia Intro Fad dieting is not an effective long term weight loss option, and in fact, it can be very harmful to your health. The obesity in Australia is rising, with 63% of adults being classified overweight or obese. In January, one of the leading New Year s Resolutions is to lose weight, and people often embark on FAD diets in an attempt to lose weight quickly. Is this a good option for overall well being and weight loss? The answer is no! The definition of a fad diet is a diet that promises quick weight loss through what is usually an unhealthy and unbalanced diet. Supporting Argument 1 FAD diets are harmful to your health because cutting out certain food groups results in a lack of certain nutrients which are necessary for the body to function optimally. An example is the Paleo diet, which excludes grains and dairy products. Grains are rich in fibre and protein, making them good for digestion and keeping you feeling full. They also contain a variety of vitamins and minerals in their bran, and a high supply of B vitamins and healthy fats. Grains are also thought to help reduce the incidence of heart disease, diabetes and digestive issues. Dairy products are a major source of calcium and vitamin D, which is ... The side effects described above, combined with getting bored of the same food, often result in people giving up the diet and going back to old bad habits, and therefore regaining weight rapidly. Feelings of failure often set in, new fad diets are started and a pattern of yo yo dieting becomes a reality. Short term weight loss may occur but inevitably, weight gain occurs in the long term. The better option is to make healthier sustainable lifestyle choices. How many FAD diets do people need to try before they realize that they don t last? How much money do people have to spend on diet books and expensive food before they realize that it doesn t make a huge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Performance Of The Three Companies After analyzing the performance of the three companies, located in the U.S., New Zealand, and Argentina, I have discovered issues that need correction in each of the locations. First off, my analysis shows that your company s performance in the U.S. is producing at 126% of the acceptable upper limit. Although you can look at this as successful production, continuously operating at this rate the company in this location is running the risk for saturating its market. Once the market becomes saturated with your product, this will cause prices to drop, therefore continuing to generate revenue will not be easy. Being that production is above standards I do not see a problem within the structure or the operations within the organization at this location. However, maximizing the profit margins would be the best strategy. I would recommend throttling back on production quantity by lowering labor resources, which will help increase the unit profit margin. With the information, I have gathered on this location my data shows me that with using fewer resources you can still achieve the same production performance. With cutting back on labor resources, you will be able to achieve the same goals using less human resources. As a result, the company is saving desired time and money allowing your profits to increase. I would also like to recommend utilizing the forecasting technique because this will enable managers to make the correct decisions by providing valuable information to ... Essay On Air Awareness Currently there is a large amount of research based on the use of the system and its benefits, although there is nothing in current research that shows the saturation of awareness in the aviation community. Some of the current research highlights the great benefits of the system, including the mass gathering of data to identify specific problems within the safety sector. Such as Cardosi, Falzarano, Han (2008) researchbased on ASRS reports, where they analyzed 386 reports from the program database and gathered data which yielded a lot of results on the contributing factors of pilot controller communication errors. The data they gathered was directly based of the ASRS self reports submitted both by pilots and Air Traffic Controllers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By providing the users with its benefits of confidentiality and partial immunity, it draws people in to report the problems that will be used for future identifications and research. Several researchers have already used the data provided by the system to create further safety information within the aviation field, although the amount of data the gathered was rather limited and needed a further boost, which the ASRS system can provide if the majority of personnel are aware of its existence. Furthermore, a majority of the research literature so far has all been based on the data that the ASRS has stored, but almost no research has been done on the ASRS awareness within the aviation community. If the proper research is done on the ASRS and the knowledge of it of the aviation sector, the field would view a greatly increased input of data and create a truly preventative system that create an overall safer environment. The current state of awareness of the ASRS system within the aviation community is severely inconspicuous and under used. Through the proposed research, additional data will be collected to clearly identify a percentage of people that are aware of the ASRS program and know how to utilize it. The proposed hypothesis of this research project is that the ASRS reporting system has a large gap in the awareness and identification of the current system. To identify ... Hardware and Project Considerations When Implementing A New CRM System The most effective Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems are deliberately designed to align and enhance the strategic initiatives and programs of a given business or enterprise. They must take into account customer preferences, needs and wants as well, and strive to create a foundation of shared information and insight over time There are a myriad of studies that show how effective CRM systems are in transforming businesses and making them more customer centric, profitable and responsive to rapidly changing market requirements. The level of adoption and continued use of CRM systems also assures a company s culture stays agile enough to respond to changing market conditions while also keeping the level of expertise and knowledge about customers continually growing (Chen, Chiu, 2010). Having a single system of record pertaining to all customer interactions give companies a competitive advantage in that they have greater insight into how prospects make buying decisions (Wang, Feng, 2012). When implementing a CRM system there are five critical success factors that are essential to its success and these include cost, risk, scope, time, and quality. The most effective CRM implementations that deliver the greatest value balance all five of these factors and synchronize them together to create strategies that deliver consistently profitable results. Born in the West Indian Island of Antigua, Kincaid admits that her desire to write came while she was young, but it seemed like avocation that would elude her because she knew so little about what it involved (ProQuest Learning, 1). Themes that included things she had perhaps experienced personally. The poem stresses that the conditions are so poor that mother must prepare her daughter for womanhood and to find a decent man. It teaches her to cook certain baked goods and to be a good housekeeper. It alerts her to the not so nice part of life, and that smiling at a person you dislike is not the same smile you render to a person you really approve. Its simplicity seemed to be a hit or miss with many audience members. It was one of those plays that you relate so much with it you enjoy its minimalistic nature, or you find it too typical and boring. I happen to be among the group that found this play to be very appealing. I feel that at many times, little to no scenery and props make it hard to visualize the scene of a play. However, with Our Town the addition of a stage manager to give an explanation of each scene made up for that entirely. The stage manager of the playhad to be my absolutely favorite character. I found him witty and expressive. He made his voice emit the right type of sound when articulating his point. Even his facial expressions matched the mood his character was meant to be in. He fit his character so well that if it weren t for him, I wouldn t have enjoyed the play as much as I did. As a whole he was a great actor. He did all the right gestures and made his acting feel so natural. It was like he was having a conversation with the audience. I think the element of his character is what created a connection with the play and myself. Another actor that was suitable for his character was the one who played Howie Newsome, the milkman. Johnson 8 February, 2010 Morbius Fatal Folly As pointed out by Merrell Knighten in his essay called The Triple Paternity of Forbidden Planet, the main difference between Shakespeare s The Tempest and the 1956 science fiction adaptation Forbidden Planet (referred to as FP) is the use and control of power. In The Tempest, Prospero knows what power he holds through the use of his books and spells, and ultimately uses these powers to restore order to the island. However, in forbidden Planet, Morbius powers are unknown to him and ultimately lead to his demise. For Miranda s lover Ferdinand, the film inserts Commander Adams who is in fact the leader of the rescue expedition sent to relieve Dr. Morbius and his supposed companions. There are no relations between the film and the play with regards to Morbius fellow colonizers of Altair 4, but this has to do with the fact that the film was a sci fi adaptation. The drunken butler Stephano is countered in the film with the Tennessee bourbon sloshing space cook. The character of Caliban resonates in the film by use of the Id monster, and finally Ariel is engrossed through the character of Robby the Robot. A closer reading of some of the characters in FP will reveal parallels outlined by Campos. Campos shines light on the fact that [Prospero and Morbius] are figures that, isolated from the rest of mankind, have devoted their lives to the study of some books which have granted them an extraordinary, almost supernatural power (Campos, 285). The main connections between the two are their utilization of science and magic. As pointed out by Campos, the film gives a clear implication that science becomes the magic of the future (286). This statement seems to be truthful as in Shakespeare s time magic would be thought to be no different from the scientific breakthroughs of our time. For example a Shakespearean audience would marvel at the strides science has taken in the modern day, such as the utilization of electricity. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Genetic Disease Is An Autosomal Dominant Neurodegenerative... Genetic diseases are diseases that are passed on from parents to their offspring. An example of a genetic disease which can be inherited is Huntington Disease. Huntington Disease is an autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disorder with midlife onset characterised by psychiatric, cognitive and motor symptoms (G. Vonsattel and DiFiglia, 1998). The statistics for HD blah blah blah Like all genetic diseases, huntington s disease has a specific inheritance pattern. Huntington disease is an autosomal disease this means that the defective gene does not occur on one of the sex chromosomes but instead it occurs on one of the other 22 chromosomes (known as autosomes). It is a also a dominant disorder so therefore only one copy of the altered gene, passed on from a parent who has it, is necessary to cause their offspring to inherit the disease. If one of the parents has the defective gene their offspring will have a 50/50 chance of inheriting that gene. (See Figure 1). If the offspring inherits the gene it is guaranteed that they will develop Huntington s disease at some point in their life time, the disease does not skip generations. The defective gene is not present on either of the sex chromosomes resulting in the disease being independent of gender. This means that male and female offspring will have an equal risk of inheriting the disease. The faulty gene (the HD gene) that is to blame for the development of huntington s disease is located on chromosome 4 (See Figure 2), it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ever since freshman year of high school, we placed it upon ourselves to find a restaurant of cafГ© of some sort here in Haynes and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa. The air by that time was generally beginning to feel frigid, and to the two of us, that meant it was about time we break out the savory drinks, mini marshmallows, and of course, the sweet and frothy whipped cream. Thus, this year, we met at the Cabin, a small restaurant which sat on the border of Haynes and the Foxborough Woods. Large windows replaced the western wall of the quaint restaurant so the patrons of the Cabin may watch the Autumn trees and their leaves sway back and forth in the gentle breeze of this mid afternoon. I ran my finger along the rim of the porcelain cup which sat in front of me, half empty of the chocolate beverage and completely drained of what whipped cream that had arrived with it. Compared to some of the other hot cocoa s Mya and I had tasted over the previous years, this one was rather a letdown. Between its more watered down taste and the lack of marshmallows, I was sorely disappointed. Nonetheless, hot cocoa was hot cocoa, so I continued to sip away as did my friend. • 21. Tom Stoppard and the Crime-Writing Genre Mankind has perpetually maintained a fascination with what constitutes a crime and enjoyed piecing together the clues that authors of the crime genre provide us in solving their mysteries, thus appealing to our curiosity in the darker side of our humanity. The crime writing genre embodies humankind in its fullest, revealing our potential for both good and evil, a notion that is responsible for the genres cross contextual survival and universal appeal. It is due to this undying interest that writers of crime texts have the ability to subvert conventions and thereby deconstruct the philosophical and psychological assumptions that crime fiction is constructed upon. By subverting the conventions of the crime writing genre, composers are able to more freely explore issues concerning their respective contexts, a significant factor that has contributed to the genre s endurance. Tom Stoppard s play The Real Inspector Hound is a post modern text which utilises its absurdist nature to reflect the nihilistic philosophy of crime. The text simultaneously adheres to and discards the conventions of the crime genre through its employment of parody and its satirical characteristics. Tom Stoppard s The Real Inspector Hound , first performed in 1968, is a one act play and dual satire of Agatha Christie s conventional Golden Age, cosy locked room mystery The Mousetrap and the crime writing genre itself. Millions of tourists visit Hawai i annually to forget their worries within this universally perceived paradise. For the indigenous people of Hawai i, whose ancestors have cultivated this land for generations, the idea of paradise only conceals the enduring oppression that dictates their reality. • 33. F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby Essay Man dreams of living the life of the elite social class and of the power and admiration inherent within. F. Scott Fitzgerald comes to terms with this American dream in The Great Gatsby, a novel about social life in the 1920 s. The social hierarchy of the times plays a very important role in this novel. Here Fitzgerald illustrates three specific social classes: old money, new money, and lower class, with old money and new money taking center stage. Gatsby himself personifies new money; he made himself into a rich man through shady dealings. Tom Buchanan, on the other hand, represents old money. He received everything he has on a silver platter. He earned nothing but his inheritance. At the time, it was extremely desirable to be old money,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tom refuses because marrying into a lower social class would develop into even more of a scandal than having a mistress. This corrupted American dream prevents Tom from openly allowing Myrtle into his life. Old money s highly discriminating nature allows its members to attain superiority, while this self serving superiority further enhances their American dream. The attempts of new money to imitate old money remain futile. For example, although Daisy truly loves Gatsby, he represents new money. Despite his attempts to become old money, the old rich have never embraced him. Daisy cannot be with him because he is not and never will be of her class. Gatsby even offers to take the blame for a murder she committed, yet she will nott even leave her husband for him. quot; Was Daisy driving? Yes, he said after a moment. but of course I ll say I was. quot; (p. 151). Daisy allows Gatsby to take the blame for her without showing either remorse or gratitude. In this way, Fitzgerald shows that although old money people count themselves rich monetarily, they show a lack of morality and accountability. Daisy s carelessness and irresponsibility cause her to need others to clean up after her without caring who takes the fall. Old money s arrogance and haughtiness make their misguided American dream more of an American nightmare. The elite created the American dream in order to make themselves and others think they are superior. They are not, in fact, above all others, but have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Abnormal Intracellular Zinc Metabolism Caused by Disruption of the TRPL1 TMEM163 Protein Interaction Keywords: Zinc, TRP ion channel, Lysosomes, TMEM163, MLIV Mucolipidosis type IV (MLIV) is a human lysosomal storage disorder characterized early in life by neurodegeneration, visual impairment, low muscle tone, and impaired secretion of gastric acid1. MLIV is caused by loss of function mutations or deletions in the Mucolipin 1 gene2 resulting in the absence or a dysfunctional protein product called transient receptor potential mucolipin 1 (TRPML1) ion channel. TRPML1 consists of six predicted transmembrane (TM) domains with channel features showing inward rectification, and non selective permeability to calcium (Ca2+), zinc (Zn2+), iron (Fe2+), and manganese (Mn2+) 3. Some of the cellular phenotypic characteristics of TRPML1 dysfunction include hyperacidic lysosomes, lysosomal swelling, and lipid accumulation. More recently, irregular levels of specific trace metals have been suggested to contribute to the abnormal cellular phenotype, as well as the progressive cell degeneration associated with TRPML1 dysfunction4. The permeability of Zn2+ to TRPML1 suggests that this ion channel may play a role in Zn2+ regulation. A recent investigation of cytoplasmic Zn2+ accumulation in TRPML1 dysfunctional cells suggests the possibility that this protein may normally function to transfer Zn2+ from the lysosome to the cytoplasm5. Other studies suggest a significant increase of Zn2+ in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to dualism, the mind and body are two separate entities with the body being physical and the mind being nonphysical. If this is the case, though, then there can be no interaction between the two. The mind could not influence anything physical without violating the laws of physics. The materialist theory, on the other hand, states that the mind is not distinct from the physical. In fact, supporters of the materialist theory believe that behavior does not have mental causes. When the materialist theory is split into logical behaviorism and the central state identity theory, the foundation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Functionalism also states that the output of the system is related to both the input and the internal status of the system at a given time. Based on the definition of functionalism, the mental processes of a human are not distinct from the systemic processes of a machine. Mental processes are defined as an operation on symbols to yield certain results. Thus, if the same symbols yielded the same results in two separate systems, then the mental states can be seen as similar, or even identical. Along this vein, consider a computer programmed with the same reasoning process as a mind. When the input B is entered, the output depends both upon B and upon the state of the system resulting from the computation of A. If the computer was programmed with the exact same reasoning process as a mind, then the result would be the same. Thus, the mental state of the mind would be indistinguishable from the systemic state of the computer. The computer metaphor upholds the theory of functionalism because the output is the result of interaction between the input and the current state of the system. The metaphor also demonstrates the insignificance of the physical state of the system when determining whether two mental states are alike. Thus, it shows that the processes, rather than the composition, of the system determine the mental state. Searle disagrees with the view that the physical composition of the system does not influence the mental state of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Role Of Gods In The Odyssey The Odyssey details Odysseus arduous return to his homeland. Ten years have passed since the end of the Trojan war and Odysseus, the most cursed man alive , has been missing and presumed dead by many. (10.79). Throughout the novel, gods play a significant role in the fate of Odysseus and other characters. The extent of the gods role though is not unqualified, contrary to Telemachus suggestion that, Zeus is to blame./He deals to each and every/ laborer on this earth whatever doom he pleases (1.401 403). While Zeus does have this power, his description of how humans meet their fate is more accurately depicted throughout the novel. As he aptly points out, from us alone, the say, come all their miseries, yes,/ but they themselves, with their own reckless ways,/ compound their pain beyond their proper share (1.38 52). While the gods do doom certain mortals, many of these mortals exacerbate their ill fate by making rash decisions and ignoring the gods warnings. The gods are also not always disrupting mortals lives; they often aid mortals in need. In fact, mortals who effectively court the favor of the gods often benefit greatly. While the gods powers are unquestionable, no one god s power is insurmountable. Gods can be outsmarted and their wrath escaped. The Odyssey, in congruence with Zeus statement, ultimately, portrays human freedom as existent, but limited. While mortals do not unjustly complain about their fates, they fail to acknowledge that they are also responsible for their ill fate, as mortals themselves, possess a sizable degree of control. There is little doubt that Odysseus and his crew are unlucky, but had it not been for their brash decisions they would have reached Ithaca much sooner. After Odysseus cunningly escapes the Cyclops, Polyphemos, his pride gets the best of him, as taunts the Polyphemos proclaiming, if any man on the face of the earth should ask you/ who blinded you, shamed you so say Odysseus/ raider of cities, he gouged out your eye (9.559 561). Analysis Of Big Two Hearted River By Ernest Hemingway Big Two Hearted River , a semi autobiographical short story by Ernest Hemingway, is a story about the main character, Nick, returning to Big Two Hearted River in order to recover from his inner wounds. Nick Adams goes on a journey alone in nature for a therapeutic purpose as he suffers from PTSD. However, Hemingway purposely avoided any direct discussion regarding to Nick s mental wounds. The absence of the discussion is contributed by Hemingway s writing style, the Iceberg principle. Hemingway focuses explicitly on what occurs on the surface without mentioning actual theme. This indicates that the theme of self healing cannot be uncovered by simply looking at the text itself. In order to comprehend the actual theme of the story, the character development of Nick must be examined. This is possible since Nick Adamsis a recurring character of Hemingway s stories.
