Character Analysis Of Louis Zamperini In Laura...
Louis Zamperini, the main character of Laura Hillenbrand s biography Unbroken, led a promising
running career in his life prior to his military service and captivity. In 1931, Louis was encouraged to
join the Torrance High School track team by his older brother, Pete. Running came easily to Louis,
and became a force to be reckoned with rapidly in the racing world, dropping his mile time to just
under five minutes by 1933. He gave some of the fastest men in the country a scare at the 1936
Olympic Trials when he nearly beat Don Lash, America s fastest runner of the 5,000 meter race, and
proceeded to compete in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Aside from the resounding fame that his running
career provided him, it also instilled discipline, dedication, and astounding willpower that followed
him through his life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many accounts of his activities involve him engaging in physical violence with one of his peers or, in
one particular instance, lobbing tomatoes at police officers. He was constantly being hounded by his
family and the police of Torrance, California, to end his mischievous ways and be more like his
brother, Pete Zamperini, who was believed to be an upstanding citizen. However, according to a
family account from Sylvia Zamperini, Pete and Louis were often engaged in similar activities with
the major difference being that Louie always got caught (Unbroken, page 8). Shortly before he
attended Torrance High School, Louis was caught allowing people into basketball games through a
rear entrance for free admission. This particular event earned him a ban from sports participation at

Russia s Peace Policy Essay examples
E.E.C. wrote a letter to the editor of The New York Times in 1899 to discuss their negative opinions
concerning the peace conference that Russia wished to set up between itself, England, and the United
States. They described how even though Russia s tsar might be sincere about wanting to hold this
international meeting, he also has a hidden agenda on his mind that he will not come right out and talk
about. The author thinks that Russia is being very deceitful, so other countries should pay close
attention and be weary of falling into their trap. The tsar might want world peace and prosperity like
he says, but he will do whatever it takes to increase Russia s power, status, and wealth.
E.E.C. acknowledges Russia s actions to be similar to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would be a huge problem for the entire world. As Sergei Witte, an advisor for both Alexander III
and Nicholas II, noted in his article, Program for a Commercial and Industrial Policy ,
Russia is an independent and strong power. She has the right and the strength not to want to be the
eternal handmaiden of states which are more developed economically...She is proud by her great
might, by which she jealously guards not only the political but also the economic independence of her
empire. She wants to be a metropolis herself. (Witte, 9)
Witte goes on to describe how Russia is starting to find their place in the domination of foreign
industry. He notes that even though the country is not running at its fullest potential right now, it will
be soon. Russians have a great capacity for work, along with the abundance of raw materials and
strong knowledge of agriculture. Now that Russia has disposed of the serfdom policies that have been
in place for many hundreds of years, it is on its way to becoming a foreign powerhouse. During the
time that E.E.C. wrote Russia s Peace Policy , Nicholas II was Russia s tsar. In 1905, he gave back
some of the Russian citizen s civil liberties when he was forced to sign the October Manifesto. Some
of these rights were included trial by jury

The And Its Effects On The Perception Of The External...
After washing away all prior beliefs of the external world about us, Descartes builds a system of doubt
that forces readers to question if they truly know anything about the external world around us. His
factors building this doubt include the possibility of madness, sensory deception, chance or the
continuous chain of events leading to our present state, omnipotent beings, or the idea that we may be
dreaming. Descartes claims that there is no way to indubitably know the truth of our external
environment, however it is indubitable that there is an internal being or self. Whether it is based on a
personal experience or someone else s, one can agree that all of the factors given could result in
skewed knowledge. Aristotle once said that, our senses can be trusted but they can be easily fooled.
Because our senses can be so easily deceived, trustworthiness is perhaps not the best trait to award it
with. The eyes and mind can always play tricks on you. One often comes by optical illusions in which
one line looks longer than another when they are both the same size, or circles appear to be spinning
when they are actually still, or numerous other kinds of these tests. Our eyes trick us constantly into
believing things to be happening when they are not. For example, young kids claim to see monsters or
ghosts in their rooms at night because their eyes and mind trick them into seeing these creatures. Once
on a ghost hunting TV show, one of the hosts addressed a common

Farrelly Brothers Theme
1. Subject/Theme Undoubtedly considered one of the most popular and successful romantic comedies
of all time, There s Something about Mary by the Farrelly Brothers, was, for the most part, acclaimed
by both critics and audiences. As a romantic comedy, the deepest and most underlying subject/theme
of the film has to be love, yet there are so many layers of lesser subjects and themes that collectively
contribute to the ultimate theme of love that it s a wonder how it all comes together so effortlessly.
The statement that the film makes about the subject of love is that it is both fickle and everlasting at
the same time; fickle, because one small injury like the one Ted experienced on the day of his high
school prom where his genitals got caught ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

standing up after she applied what she thought was hair gel to it, that does not mean any of the scenes

the end, because of all these separate elements of the film which came together effortlessly, viewers
are able to relate to Ted in a way that directors and producers wanted all along, allowing for maximum
emotional effect to take place, which subsequently allows viewers to relate to the film as a whole,

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Multiplier
1.1 INTRODUCTION
Multipliers play a key role in many high performance systems. As the technology advances, the
demand of high speed digital systems increases or we can say the demand of high speed multiplier
increases because the multiplier is a main component in every digital system. Multipliers are used as
small blocks in large digital systems like FIR filters, microprocessors, digital signal processors,
communication systems etc. So to find performance of a large digital system is measured by the
performance of the multiplier because the multiplier is mainly the slowest element in the large
systems; consequently multiplication dominates the execution time of most DSP algorithms, so a high
speed multiplier is always required. As compared to other operations in an ALU, the multiplier also
uses more power. Thus scientists have always been trying to design a multiplier which utilizes less
power, time and area and increases speed. Multiplication is such a mathematical operation in which a
number i.e. multiplicand is added to itself a given number of times as indicated by another number i.e.
multiplier to form a result.
A digital circuit used to multiply two numbers is called a multiplier. Multiplication, as in mathematics,
consists of shifting and adding the partial products. The same concept is used here in digital
multipliers. For unsigned number multiplication, AND gates are utilized for ... Show more content on

Mental Illness Is A Serious Growing Issue
Introduction Mental illness is a serious growing issue, not only in the United States, but also around
the world. It is estimated approximately forty three million Americans suffer from a mental illness.
The concerning issue however, is that the forty three million estimated only represent those who have
sought diagnosis. Therefore, there may still be a large number of individuals who remain undiagnosed
(National Institute of Health, 2013). Although treatment may keep a disorder under control to a certain
extent, many psychological disorders cannot be cured and often persist throughout a person s lifetime.
Thus the goal of treatment is to help an individual live a healthy more normal lifestyle. In order to
develop additional medical treatment specifically medication in addition to psychotherapy the multiple
disorders need to be further researched. Of the treatment that does exist, many people suffering from
psychological disorders do not receive treatment at all; in fact, almost half of all diagnosed patients do
not seek treatment (National Institute of Health, 2013). The ongoing research on the mechanisms
behind most mental illnesses continues and although much progress has been made, there is still a
large gap of missing knowledge that remains unknown. There are many common mental disorders that
affect tens of millions of Americans every year. However, there are several mental disorders that are
more commonly seen in recent times among adolescents including

Christianity In The Middle East
Imagine being unable to pray or attend church without the risk of being murdered. Living in constant
fear that your whole way of life will be swept right from under you. Would you be willing to risk your
life for your religion? Middle Eastern Christians are not persecuted because they are criminals, but
because of what they believe. They simply want the freedom of faith and religion that Americans
experience every day. Each day, Christians in the Middle East are slaughtered, tortured, raped,
kidnapped, beheaded, and forced to flee the birthplace of Christianity. If these indignities continue,
Christianity in the Middle East could disappear. The persecution of Christians in the Middle East is
not new. In fact, it traces back to the Roman Empire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By the sixth century, Western churches were using Latin compared to Greek in Eastern Churches. In
addition to the language differences, they were also a number of religious practices that separated. For
example, leavened or raised bread was used for Eucharist in the East, but not in the West. The West
required celibacy while the East allowed some marriages for clergy. Theologically, the two groups
fought over a clause inserted into the Nicene Creed in 589 by a Western ecumenical council in Toledo.
The clause was known as the filioque. It indicated that Holy Spirit proceeded from the Father and the
Son; the Eastern Churches rejected the addition of and the Son (Bailey 52). When the Patriarch of
Constantinople and the Roman papal legate excommunicated each other in 1054, it only furthered the
growing schism between Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches. A few years after the major
schism, the Crusades began and completely tore apart the relationship. Catholic crusaders killed
Orthodox Christians along with Muslims. All hope of reconciliation was ended when the soldiers of
the Fourth Crusade raided the Church of the Holy Wisdom in Constantinople in 1204. Not only have
Christians had trouble with other Christians, but also conflicts with groups of other

Wierd Noises from Your Body Called Phonology
My research paper is about how your body can make different noises. A person can make weird noises
all day long, but when you add meaning to the sounds they create phonemes. The study of phonemes
is called phonology. Sounds start from the air that we inhale every day. Although we have all those
things that cause it we ,ourselves have to form the sounds that we make with our mouths.
All of those things start from your vocal cords. With your vocal cords you can create words and many
other different sounds. You can create other types of noises with the rest of your body to. The air
pressure comes from your lungs, diaphragm, ribcage, and abdominal muscles. Without enough air
pressure, the rest of the production system for the voice, it shuts down.
Singers and other famous voice users focus on a significant amount of training on control of your
breath support. The portion of vibratory voice production occurs in the voice box or larynx. The
larynx is an organ that is made of paired muscles and cartilages. The thyroid cartilage houses and
holds the vocal cords. It is a large cartilage with the most and superior aspect.
This is more prominent in the male larynx and is often called the Adams Apple. The thyroid cartilage
sits above the cricoid cartilage, which is a signet ring shaped cartilage. Below th cricoids cartilage is
the trachea or windpipe. The subglottis extends from just below the vocal cords to about 1 cm into the
trachea. The hyoid bone is superior to the

A New Paradigm On The Open Market System Essay
Introduction
In this paper, we will analyze a new paradigm that is emerging recently around the religious
institutions, the whole crux of which lies in the fact that the organized religion thrives in the open
market system. The paper is further divided into six sections: literature, theory, hypothesis, method,
findings of the study, and the discussion.
Theory and Hypothesis
The sociology of the religion has been seen to be undergoing a period of change, or a paradigm shift.
Are the American kids growing up to have a different religious inclination than the kids a generation
or two ago? Religious inclination can include acknowledgement of belonging to a certain religion,
performing religious practices, attending the religious ceremonies and services, spirituality, religious
donations and charities, and approving of religious organizations (Pargament, 1997). Although the
religious affiliation for all is an important factor to be considered, the affiliation among the
adolescents particularly takes away a significant share of importance. Religious affiliation among kids
is believed to bring about a number of positive outcomes including better physical health, less drug
abuse, better social conditioning and functioning, and fewer risk related behaviors. The kids who are
more religiously inclined are also believed to have less signs of anxiety and depression and display a
strong character (Markstorm, 1999). However, if not handled properly, religion can also drive in the
feelings

Questioning the Reason of Human Existence on Earth in the...
In the play Waiting For Godot, Beckett questions the purpose of human existence on Earth and reflects
uncertainties in life through a series of meaninglessness events and acts played by the characters. The
play contains only two acts and involves Pozzo and Lucky, who meet Vladimir and Estragon while
they are waiting for Godot in both acts. Instead of evolving in a narratively structured order, the play
unfolds in anti theatre fashion. Through Beckett s use of language, set, and the diminishing spiral , he
presents the play in a way that one is not sure of what, if anything, happens or the significance of the
characters. Thus, Beckett seems to want his audiences to think and analyze the play in a way that they
normally would not.
As we already know, Beckett s play is anti theatre, which means that his play does not follow the
classical theatre format that unfolds in order from exposition, complication, crisis, climax to
resolution. In fact, Beckett designs the play in a diminishing spiral fashion, which means that the play
has no structure. It does not have a beginning, an end or a resolution. Besides a sense of time, which is
demonstrated through day and night and the leaves on the trees in both acts, the two aimless
characters, Vladimir and Estragon spend their time waiting and not knowing for whom. The play has
no plot and the characters do not develop over time. For example, the characters forget about act I
when they are in act II. This shows that the plot is not

Elastic Wave Filtering Properties Of Graded Undulated...
We investigate and experimentally demonstrate the elastic wave filtering properties of graded
undulated lattices. Square reticulates composed of curved beams are characterized by graded
mechanical properties which result from the spatial modulation of the curvature parameter. Among
such properties, the progressive formation of frequency bandgaps leads to strong wave attenuation
over a broad frequency range. The experimental investigation of wave transmission and the detection
of full wavefields effectively illustrate this behavior. Transmission measurements are conducted using
a scanning laser Doppler vibrometer, while a dedicated digital image correlation procedure is
implemented to capture in plane wave motion at selected frequencies. ... Show more content on

elements has been numerically explored in undulated configurations. Although it was theoretically

experimental validation is scarcely documented, with most of the tests performed to obtain
transmissibility measures through a small number of sensors. When a full wavefield measurement is

Background (Milde, R., 2001)
Common wisdom tells us that there are, in general, two kinds of writing: creative and expository.
Creative writing tells about feelings, opinions, points of view, things that originate inside the writer.
Expository essays tell about facts, things outside of the writer. Essays on literature examine a literary
text, a thing outside the writer. Lab reports describe experiments with chemicals and other stuff that
really exists and can be measured. Research is factual; fiction, poetry, and the personal story are
emotional.
Wrong. Writing is not that simple. The farther you go in your academic or professional career, the less
you are able to simply report what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What are its rituals, credos, myths, symbols, taboos, deities/higher powers? What are its origins? How
does it tie into/affect/is affected by the politics, law, economy, ethics, history, and gender of the
encompassing society? Be aware of ethnocentrism; describe and understand but do not judge. Study
what people believe, not whether or not what they believe is true. Guiding question
Guiding questions are aimed at the basic point of ethnography: gaining the world view of a group of
people.
A common format for a guiding questions might be:
How do members of a particular group perceive of or understand a certain social or cultural
phenomenon? (This is often seen through behavior of some kind.)
Thesis statement Your thesis statement should contain a mini outline of the paper; this outline consists
of several sub claims for which evidence must be provided. How do you know what you claimed to
know.
Observing and taking notes:
It s best to take notes during the observation. If that is impractical, take notes immediately afterward.
Summarizing your memories of an event is not what ethnographic observation calls for (though it s
okay in journalism or memoir). You want to get down detailed, specific, observations, on details such
as: * examples of speech (see the warning below about privacy) * clothing * ways of greeting,
initiating conversation, beginning and ending an event * body language, gestures * the physical

Hillary Clinton Women s Rights Are Human Rights Speech...
In the past, women didn t have as many rights as men. They were seen as men s possessions who were
only allowed to cook, clean, and make babies. Women weren t allowed as many privileges as men
such as voting. But as the years went by, changes were made. Women were granted many of the same
privileges as men, but they were still being mistreated in some perspectives. On September 5, 1995 in
Beijing, China, Hillary Clinton delivered a speech about this issue at the United Nations Fourth World
Conference for Women in front of 180 countries. Her speech was called Women s Rights are Human
Rights . She gave this speech to express her concern over the mistreatment women have been facing.
Clinton directed her speech to governments and other organizations to argue why they need to help
improve women s rights. Clinton uses ethos, pathos, and logos to persuade her audience that women
should be treated equally. Clinton uses ethos in her speech to persuade her audience by showing them
your credibility. Ethos is an effective way to persuade an audience. This helps to show the audience
that the speaker knows what they re talking about. As First Lady and Senator, Clinton shows she has
credibility on the topic by saying Over the past 25 years, I have worked persistently on issues relating
to women, children, and families. Over the past two and a half years. I ve has the opportunity to learn
more about the challenges facing women in my own country and around the world (Clinton 2).

Documentary And Narrative Filmmaking
What makes documentary filmmaking distinct to narrative filmmaking? There are a few contrasting
objectives for both types of filmmaking that distinguishes them from each other. Simply put, narrative
filmmaking is a movie with a pre written script, actors and a story which is already crafted before they
start shooting. while documentaries are filmmaking where real life events are captured, and a script is
usually written afterwards. Narrative films rely on the three act structure which goes Setup,
Confrontation and Resolution or in other words, a beginning, middle and end. The main aim for the
three act structure is for the story to develop while the stakes get risker for our characters, so they
evolve as the movie goes on. Narrative film ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Focusing on the 9/11 terrorist attack and how the Bush administration handled it. Many believed
Moore had an agenda against President George W. Bush while making the film and edited the movie
to show the audience what he wanted them to see. The opening lines from Moore in the film are, We
worked hard on creating a work of cinema that would move people not just politically but on an
emotional and visceral level. I hope we have made a contribution to this art form we love so much.
Unfortunately for Moore, debate sparked over Moore s true intentions while making this film. Many
believed it was to attack Bush who was running for re election in 2004 as the movie was due for
release around the same time Bush began campaigning. The crux of the debate surrounding the film
involved Moore s satirical styling. Some argued Moore tried too hard to make his movie entertaining
and, in the process, would often distort pieces of information. (Bryd, 2017) This is yet another
possible example of filmmakers showing the audience what they want to see and not the complete
truth. While it is not proven that Moore did bend the truth, therefore it is nearly impossible to create a
comprehensive code of ethics when making a documentary because Filmmakers can and sometimes
will break the rules to show what they want to, be it to expose the truth or a personal

Changing The Music Industry As We Know It
As time continues to change, so does the music industry as we know it. Artists of different races,
genders, and differing music styles continue to emerge and create top hits on the charts. However,
some of these artists chose not to associate with major record labels, or sell any of their music to them.
These are the people bringing about the real changes that ought to be recognized and discussed. For
this paper, I decided to look at the group Postmodern Jukebox, their background as a group, their style
of music, and route they chose in this business. I believe groups like Postmodern Jukebox are
changing the music industry as we know it through their commitment to producing unique music, and
allowing for a diverse following that encourages living out your own true identity. According to the
group s official website, Postmodern Jukebox was founded by a young college drop out, Scott
Bradlee, who was struggling with ideas of how to pay off his student debt when he reached out to
former college friends and talented musicians Chris Anderson, Ben Golder Novick, Brandee Younger
and Emma Walker to record a song together (PostmodernJukebox.com, n.d.). From there, Postmodern
Jukebox began to remake many popular pop songs with their own unique twist, with the first song
they recorded together as a group being Lady Gaga s song Paparazzi, that was later posted on Youtube
to become a huge success for them (PostmodernJukebox.com, n.d.). Starting a Youtube channel seems
to be an up

Thesis Statement On Job Satisfaction
Pearson and Seiler (1983) found in their research on 336 faculty members from 24 universities in
Unites States, predictors for job satisfaction were tenure, teaching load, gender, institution type as in
private or public, and age. Salary and ranking on the other hand surprising did not play a big role in
influencing perceived job satisfaction. In comparison, it was found that those in professional colleges
reported higher job satisfaction than those in general college. Those who reported higher job
satisfaction were those with higher salaries, lower teaching loads, and speedier promotion rate. The
researchers further explain the possibilities to why lecturers from professional colleges reported higher
satisfaction was because of the job security ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Olsen, work stress or job related stress were related to time management conflicts,
compensation issues such as salary, feedback and job security. The level of job stress will play a role
in determining job satisfaction level as suggested by the research done by Usman and colleagues in
Punjab in 2011. The researchers posited that the higher work stress experienced by the faculty
members, the lower will be their satisfaction with their job. High job stress will also lead to lower
organizational commitment (Usman, Ahmed, Ahmed, Akbar, 2011). The researchers suggested that by
minimizing role ambiguity, it will directly reduce the role stress experience by the teaching members
and indirectly lower job stress as a whole. Thompson and Dey (1998) found that sources of stress for
African American college and university faculty were time constraints, promotion concerns, and
overall stress. Thompson and Dey also found that stress regardless of sources negatively affecting job
satisfaction. The most prominent evidence in the researchers finding was the negative effect of stress
in regarding of promotion towards the level of job satisfaction. In fact the researchers found that the
more stress the respondents were about promotion, the least satisfied they were about aspects such as

Trial of Temple Anneke Essay
Predetermined Justice
Witchcraft in early modern Europe was understood to be the combination of maleficium and
diabolism. The term maleficium refers to the actual act of witchcraft, which was believed to be
harmful magic or sorcery. Allegations of maleficium were simply the foundation for the crime of
witchcraft. Diabolism is what made witchcraft a crime because it involved trading oneself for magical
abilities from the Devil (xxv).
With regard to religion during early modern Europe, it was highly regarded. There was no direct
separation between church and state. Witchcraft was acknowledged as an act against God, as well as a
capital offense. The Carolina, which was the imperial criminal code....of Emperor Charles V , was

Tempel Anneke was accused of crimes that were, for the most part, uncontrollable events.
Unfortunately for Tempel Anneke, during this time people were quick to assume witchcraft as the
source of their problems or any negative unexplainable event. There was very little knowledge about
healthcare at this time so it was a common practice to just blame it on the witch.
The initial questions Tempel Anneke was asked pointed out the similarities between her and what
were thought to be the characteristics of a witch. When the interrogator questioned her age and means
of personal finance, she did not state her age but did say that she was a widow and lived with her son
on his farm but did perform healings when needed. She was then questioned about her education and
religious practices. She responded by saying she had learned how to heal people from observing her
mother. Also, she testified that she knew the commandments but had not been to the table of the Lord
or the Holy Communion in two years (15). It did not help that she was not looked up to in the
community but was part of the lower class. According some of the testimony by her accusers, most
people thought that Tempel Anneke was a crazy, old drunk.
As questioning continued, she was asked about specific crimes that she had been accused of
committing. After the testimony had been taken from

First Death In Nova Scotia, Sestina, And In The Waiting Room
Childhood memories serve as significant elements within Elizabeth Bishop s poetry. Elizabeth Bishop
illustrates childhood as an innocent and cherished entity. External factors, such as death and loss,
jeopardize the fragility, or naiveté, of childhood. Bishop s poetry highlights the brevity of life through
the reappearing subject of mortality and loss. The reoccurring themes of childhood, grief, and
transience are prevalent within the poems First Death in Nova Scotia, Sestina, and In the Waiting
Room. Childhood represents a fundamental theme within the poems First Death in Nova Scotia,
Sestina, and In the Waiting Room. Each poem depicts the delicate nature of childhood and its state of
innate virtuousness. Bishop conveys the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Sestina, Bishop describes the sorrowful tale of a grandmother and child suffering through a painful
loss. Although the grandmother attempts to remain joyful and resilient to shelter the child, the woman
s tears uncover her anguish. Noticing the grandmother s tears, the child paints a picture for her in
order to make her feel happier and proud. With its storybook tone, Sestina relays wondering and
otherworldly details brought on by the child s imagination (Paul). Towards the end of the poem, the
buttons become little moons and fall down like tears and into the flower bed within the child s
painting (Axelrod). The child utilizes their creativity to initiate other fanciful images. Of course, this
goes unnoticed by the grandmother as these fairy tale occurrences transpired from the child s own
mind and creativity. The inclusion of playful and innocent representations in Sestina bolsters the
theme of youth and the righteousness that accompanies it. Additionally, the setting of the poem
maintains a crucial element to relay the theme of childhood to the reader. According to Jay Paul,
Bishop arranged the poem so that it occurs during a turning point a liminal moment. Also, objects
placed in the setting, such as the stove, are reminiscent of fairy tales

The Rover Analysis
In Aphra Behn s The Rover, characters define relationships as a type of economy where value and use
are key. This time period commodified love and sexuality, valuing financial success over meaningful
relationships. The dowry system made rich women with a high status most desirable for marriage and
their value was increased by their honor. Typical of seventeenth century literature, Behn plays with
this ideology as the language of love in Restoration comedies frequently draws on the language of
commerce. 1 She expresses her beliefs on the interest, credit, and value 2 associated with love and
sexuality through the different prices placed on her characters. Where Behn differs from other
seventeenth century writers is that she does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Upon realizing Moretta is unwilling to donate Angellica to him, Willmore attempts to give Moretta a
pistole in exchange for a pistoles worth of this vain, gay [thing]. (Behn, 243). He believes his charm is
enough to haggle down Angellica s price. But this is another transaction Moretta is unwilling to make,
and the conventionally constructed male, vigorous and over powering, has failed. (Munns 181). She
asserts her authority over him by affirming that she will only sell Angellica by the whole piece. (Behn,
243). She continues to display the power she gained by ignoring love by rejecting Willmore s offers in
an attempt to reinforce to Angellica that power is everywhere; it can belong to someone who
commands and give orders to a subject, or one who obeys or gives the impression of obeying. 6
However, this attempt is futile; Angellica gives up the power given to her by prostitution when she
gives Willmore the five hundred crowns. Previously, Angellica had the power in her sexual
relationships because she set the price. The power shifts once Willmore sets his own price, and even
more so when he still refuses to love Angellica. Before falling in love, Angellica has a position of
power over the male characters in The Rover. She believes men are of an humor so uneasy and
inconstant that the victory over his heart is as soon lost as won. [He

The Endangered Species Act President Nixon
When signing the Endangered Species Act President Nixon said, Nothing is more priceless and more
worthy of preservation than the rich array of animal life with which our country has been blessed. The
Endangered Species Act was enforced in 1973 providing protection for species that are being
threatened in their habitats. Making a point to save endangered animals, not only allows people to see
the protected animals living in a free and serene environment, but it invokes a sense of happiness.
An endangered species is a plant or an animal at risk of becoming extinct. Scientists have estimated
that up to one third of species in the U.S. are at a high risk of extinction. In addition to donating
millions of acres of land, this is essential to the recovery and survival of the endangered; the Act has
shown a ninety percent recovery rate for species in the U.S. The main causes of endangerment include
loss of habitat, excessive hunting, and pollution.
Within the Endangered Species Act, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service helps watch over and
investigate the health of different species. Then, local and national scientist collects data to determine
if a species gets put on the Endangered Species list. The main factor to determine the endangerment of
a species is if a large percentage of the species habitat has been destroyed. Next, note if the animal s
population has been excessively decreasing, threatened by disease, or any terrorized by any predators.
Also, record any man made

Why Is Beowulf So Famous
The story Beowulf takes place of some interesting things. In this story you will meet many different
and interesting people. This book is very fun to read. Scyld of Scefing the first king of the Danes and
great grandfather to Hrothgar. Scefing was a very brave king. Hrothgar was also a really barve king.
He has been giving to the people since his dad was alive. The main reason Hrothgar was so famous is
because he built a mead hall. He named that mead hall Heorot. This mead hall attracted so many
people. Grendel was the beast that attacked the mead hall. One night while everyone was celebrating
the mead hall and singing about God and how God created the world, Grendel got mad. Grendel is

Louis Zamperini, the main character of Laura Hillenbrand s biography Unbroken, led a promising running career in his life prior to his military service and captivity. In 1931, Louis was encouraged to join the Torrance High School track team by his older brother, Pete. Running came easily to Louis, and became a force to be reckoned with rapidly in the racing world, dropping his mile time to just under five minutes by 1933. He gave some of the fastest men in the country a scare at the 1936 Olympic Trials when he nearly beat Don Lash, America s fastest runner of the 5,000 meter race, and proceeded to compete in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Aside from the resounding fame that his running career provided him, it also instilled discipline, dedication, and astounding willpower that followed him through his life. ... However, according to a family account from Sylvia Zamperini, Pete and Louis were often engaged in similar activities with the major difference being that Louie always got caught (Unbroken, page 8). • 3. Russia s Peace Policy Essay examples E.E.C. wrote a letter to the editor of The New York Times in 1899 to discuss their negative opinions concerning the peace conference that Russia wished to set up between itself, England, and the United States. They described how even though Russia s tsar might be sincere about wanting to hold this international meeting, he also has a hidden agenda on his mind that he will not come right out and talk about. The author thinks that Russia is being very deceitful, so other countries should pay close attention and be weary of falling into their trap. • 4. The And Its Effects On The Perception Of The External... After washing away all prior beliefs of the external world about us, Descartes builds a system of doubt that forces readers to question if they truly know anything about the external world around us. His factors building this doubt include the possibility of madness, sensory deception, chance or the continuous chain of events leading to our present state, omnipotent beings, or the idea that we may be dreaming. Descartes claims that there is no way to indubitably know the truth of our external environment, however it is indubitable that there is an internal being or self. Whether it is based on a personal experience or someone else s, one can agree that all of the factors given could result in skewed knowledge. Aristotle once said that, our senses can be trusted but they can be easily fooled. Because our senses can be so easily deceived, trustworthiness is perhaps not the best trait to award it with. The eyes and mind can always play tricks on you. One often comes by optical illusions in which one line looks longer than another when they are both the same size, or circles appear to be spinning when they are actually still, or numerous other kinds of these tests. Our eyes trick us constantly into believing things to be happening when they are not. For example, young kids claim to see monsters or ghosts in their rooms at night because their eyes and mind trick them into seeing these creatures. • 7. Advantage And Disadvantage Of Multiplier 1.1 INTRODUCTION Multipliers play a key role in many high performance systems. As the technology advances, the demand of high speed digital systems increases or we can say the demand of high speed multiplier increases because the multiplier is a main component in every digital system. Multipliers are used as small blocks in large digital systems like FIR filters, microprocessors, digital signal processors, communication systems etc. So to find performance of a large digital system is measured by the performance of the multiplier because the multiplier is mainly the slowest element in the large systems; consequently multiplication dominates the execution time of most DSP algorithms, so a high speed multiplier is always required. As compared to other operations in an ALU, the multiplier also uses more power. Thus scientists have always been trying to design a multiplier which utilizes less power, time and area and increases speed. Multiplication is such a mathematical operation in which a number i.e. multiplicand is added to itself a given number of times as indicated by another number i.e. multiplier to form a result. A digital circuit used to multiply two numbers is called a multiplier. Multiplication, as in mathematics, consists of shifting and adding the partial products. It is estimated approximately forty three million Americans suffer from a mental illness. The concerning issue however, is that the forty three million estimated only represent those who have sought diagnosis. Therefore, there may still be a large number of individuals who remain undiagnosed (National Institute of Health, 2013). Although treatment may keep a disorder under control to a certain extent, many psychological disorders cannot be cured and often persist throughout a person s lifetime. Thus the goal of treatment is to help an individual live a healthy more normal lifestyle. In order to develop additional medical treatment specifically medication in addition to psychotherapy the multiple disorders need to be further researched. Of the treatment that does exist, many people suffering from psychological disorders do not receive treatment at all; in fact, almost half of all diagnosed patients do not seek treatment (National Institute of Health, 2013). The ongoing research on the mechanisms behind most mental illnesses continues and although much progress has been made, there is still a large gap of missing knowledge that remains unknown. Sounds start from the air that we inhale every day. Although we have all those things that cause it we ,ourselves have to form the sounds that we make with our mouths. All of those things start from your vocal cords. With your vocal cords you can create words and many other different sounds. You can create other types of noises with the rest of your body to. • 17. A New Paradigm On The Open Market System Essay Introduction In this paper, we will analyze a new paradigm that is emerging recently around the religious institutions, the whole crux of which lies in the fact that the organized religion thrives in the open market system. The paper is further divided into six sections: literature, theory, hypothesis, method, findings of the study, and the discussion. Theory and Hypothesis The sociology of the religion has been seen to be undergoing a period of change, or a paradigm shift. Are the American kids growing up to have a different religious inclination than the kids a generation or two ago? Religious inclination can include acknowledgement of belonging to a certain religion, performing religious practices, attending the religious ceremonies and services, spirituality, religious donations and charities, and approving of religious organizations (Pargament, 1997). Although the religious affiliation for all is an important factor to be considered, the affiliation among the adolescents particularly takes away a significant share of importance. Religious affiliation among kids is believed to bring about a number of positive outcomes including better physical health, less drug abuse, better social conditioning and functioning, and fewer risk related behaviors. The kids who are more religiously inclined are also believed to have less signs of anxiety and depression and display a strong character (Markstorm, 1999). • 20. Questioning the Reason of Human Existence on Earth in the... In the play Waiting For Godot, Beckett questions the purpose of human existence on Earth and reflects uncertainties in life through a series of meaninglessness events and acts played by the characters. The play contains only two acts and involves Pozzo and Lucky, who meet Vladimir and Estragon while they are waiting for Godot in both acts. Instead of evolving in a narratively structured order, the play unfolds in anti theatre fashion. Through Beckett s use of language, set, and the diminishing spiral , he presents the play in a way that one is not sure of what, if anything, happens or the significance of the characters. Thus, Beckett seems to want his audiences to think and analyze the play in a way that they normally would not. As we already know, Beckett s play is anti theatre, which means that his play does not follow the classical theatre format that unfolds in order from exposition, complication, crisis, climax to resolution. In fact, Beckett designs the play in a diminishing spiral fashion, which means that the play has no structure. It does not have a beginning, an end or a resolution. Besides a sense of time, which is demonstrated through day and night and the leaves on the trees in both acts, the two aimless characters, Vladimir and Estragon spend their time waiting and not knowing for whom. The play has no plot and the characters do not develop over time. For example, the characters forget about act I when they are in act II. This shows that the plot is not ... Square reticulates composed of curved beams are characterized by graded mechanical properties which result from the spatial modulation of the curvature parameter. Among such properties, the progressive formation of frequency bandgaps leads to strong wave attenuation over a broad frequency range. The experimental investigation of wave transmission and the detection of full wavefields effectively illustrate this behavior. Transmission measurements are conducted using a scanning laser Doppler vibrometer, while a dedicated digital image correlation procedure is implemented to capture in plane wave motion at selected frequencies. ... • 25. Hillary Clinton Women s Rights Are Human Rights Speech... In the past, women didn t have as many rights as men. They were seen as men s possessions who were only allowed to cook, clean, and make babies. Women weren t allowed as many privileges as men such as voting. But as the years went by, changes were made. Women were granted many of the same privileges as men, but they were still being mistreated in some perspectives. On September 5, 1995 in Beijing, China, Hillary Clinton delivered a speech about this issue at the United Nations Fourth World Conference for Women in front of 180 countries. Her speech was called Women s Rights are Human Rights . She gave this speech to express her concern over the mistreatment women have been facing. Clinton directed her speech to governments and other organizations to argue why they need to help improve women s rights. Clinton uses ethos, pathos, and logos to persuade her audience that women should be treated equally. Clinton uses ethos in her speech to persuade her audience by showing them your credibility. Ethos is an effective way to persuade an audience. This helps to show the audience that the speaker knows what they re talking about. As First Lady and Senator, Clinton shows she has credibility on the topic by saying Over the past 25 years, I have worked persistently on issues relating to women, children, and families. Over the past two and a half years. I ve has the opportunity to learn more about the challenges facing women in my own country and around the world (Clinton 2). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Documentary And Narrative Filmmaking What makes documentary filmmaking distinct to narrative filmmaking? There are a few contrasting objectives for both types of filmmaking that distinguishes them from each other. Simply put, narrative filmmaking is a movie with a pre written script, actors and a story which is already crafted before they start shooting. while documentaries are filmmaking where real life events are captured, and a script is usually written afterwards. Narrative films rely on the three act structure which goes Setup, Confrontation and Resolution or in other words, a beginning, middle and end. The main aim for the three act structure is for the story to develop while the stakes get risker for our characters, so they evolve as the movie goes on. Narrative film ... Bush while making the film and edited the movie to show the audience what he wanted them to see. The opening lines from Moore in the film are, We worked hard on creating a work of cinema that would move people not just politically but on an emotional and visceral level. I hope we have made a contribution to this art form we love so much. Unfortunately for Moore, debate sparked over Moore s true intentions while making this film. Many believed it was to attack Bush who was running for re election in 2004 as the movie was due for release around the same time Bush began campaigning. The crux of the debate surrounding the film involved Moore s satirical styling. Some argued Moore tried too hard to make his movie entertaining and, in the process, would often distort pieces of information. (Bryd, 2017) This is yet another possible example of filmmakers showing the audience what they want to see and not the complete truth. While it is not proven that Moore did bend the truth, therefore it is nearly impossible to create a comprehensive code of ethics when making a documentary because Filmmakers can and sometimes will break the rules to show what they want to, be it to expose the truth or a personal ... • 27. Changing The Music Industry As We Know It As time continues to change, so does the music industry as we know it. Artists of different races, genders, and differing music styles continue to emerge and create top hits on the charts. However, some of these artists chose not to associate with major record labels, or sell any of their music to them. These are the people bringing about the real changes that ought to be recognized and discussed. For this paper, I decided to look at the group Postmodern Jukebox, their background as a group, their style of music, and route they chose in this business. I believe groups like Postmodern Jukebox are changing the music industry as we know it through their commitment to producing unique music, and allowing for a diverse following that encourages living out your own true identity. According to the group s official website, Postmodern Jukebox was founded by a young college drop out, Scott Bradlee, who was struggling with ideas of how to pay off his student debt when he reached out to former college friends and talented musicians Chris Anderson, Ben Golder Novick, Brandee Younger and Emma Walker to record a song together (PostmodernJukebox.com, n.d.). From there, Postmodern Jukebox began to remake many popular pop songs with their own unique twist, with the first song they recorded together as a group being Lady Gaga s song Paparazzi, that was later posted on Youtube to become a huge success for them (PostmodernJukebox.com, n.d.). According to Olsen, work stress or job related stress were related to time management conflicts, compensation issues such as salary, feedback and job security. The level of job stress will play a role in determining job satisfaction level as suggested by the research done by Usman and colleagues in Punjab in 2011. The researchers posited that the higher work stress experienced by the faculty members, the lower will be their satisfaction with their job. High job stress will also lead to lower organizational commitment (Usman, Ahmed, Ahmed, Akbar, 2011). The researchers suggested that by minimizing role ambiguity, it will directly reduce the role stress experience by the teaching members and indirectly lower job stress as a whole. Thompson and Dey (1998) found that sources of stress for African American college and university faculty were time constraints, promotion concerns, and overall stress. Thompson and Dey also found that stress regardless of sources negatively affecting job satisfaction. The most prominent evidence in the researchers finding was the negative effect of stress in regarding of promotion towards the level of job satisfaction. In Sestina, Bishop describes the sorrowful tale of a grandmother and child suffering through a painful loss. Although the grandmother attempts to remain joyful and resilient to shelter the child, the woman s tears uncover her anguish. With its storybook tone, Sestina relays wondering and otherworldly details brought on by the child s imagination (Paul). Towards the end of the poem, the buttons become little moons and fall down like tears and into the flower bed within the child s painting (Axelrod). The child utilizes their creativity to initiate other fanciful images. Of course, this goes unnoticed by the grandmother as these fairy tale occurrences transpired from the child s own mind and creativity. The inclusion of playful and innocent representations in Sestina bolsters the theme of youth and the righteousness that accompanies it. Additionally, the setting of the poem maintains a crucial element to relay the theme of childhood to the reader. • 32. The Rover Analysis In Aphra Behn s The Rover, characters define relationships as a type of economy where value and use are key. This time period commodified love and sexuality, valuing financial success over meaningful relationships. The dowry system made rich women with a high status most desirable for marriage and their value was increased by their honor. Typical of seventeenth century literature, Behn plays with this ideology as the language of love in Restoration comedies frequently draws on the language of commerce. 1 She expresses her beliefs on the interest, credit, and value 2 associated with love and sexuality through the different prices placed on her characters. Where Behn differs from other seventeenth century writers is that she does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But this is another transaction Moretta is unwilling to make, and the conventionally constructed male, vigorous and over powering, has failed. (Munns 181). She asserts her authority over him by affirming that she will only sell Angellica by the whole piece. (Behn, 243). She continues to display the power she gained by ignoring love by rejecting Willmore s offers in an attempt to reinforce to Angellica that power is everywhere; it can belong to someone who commands and give orders to a subject, or one who obeys or gives the impression of obeying. 6 However, this attempt is futile; Angellica gives up the power given to her by prostitution when she gives Willmore the five hundred crowns. Previously, Angellica had the power in her sexual relationships because she set the price. The power shifts once Willmore sets his own price, and even more so when he still refuses to love Angellica. • 33. The Endangered Species Act President Nixon When signing the Endangered Species Act President Nixon said, Nothing is more priceless and more worthy of preservation than the rich array of animal life with which our country has been blessed. The Endangered Species Act was enforced in 1973 providing protection for species that are being threatened in their habitats. Making a point to save endangered animals, not only allows people to see the protected animals living in a free and serene environment, but it invokes a sense of happiness. An endangered species is a plant or an animal at risk of becoming extinct. Scientists have estimated that up to one third of species in the U.S. are at a high risk of extinction. In addition to donating millions of acres of land, this is essential to the recovery and survival of the endangered; the Act has shown a ninety percent recovery rate for species in the U.S. The main causes of endangerment include loss of habitat, excessive hunting, and pollution. Within the Endangered Species Act, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service helps watch over and investigate the health of different species. Then, local and national scientist collects data to determine if a species gets put on the Endangered Species list. The main factor to determine the endangerment of a species is if a large percentage of the species habitat has been destroyed. Next, note if the animal s population has been excessively decreasing, threatened by disease, or any terrorized by any predators. Also, record any man made ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
