Beauty Document Analysis
Beauty pageants show the positive of being thin, glamourous and what the perfect ideal beautiful
females should look like. Little Miss Sunshine shows that children also have a very competitive idea
of what is perfect and acceptable for children. Society and media along with parents and peers show
young children and young adults that being thin and beautiful is the only acceptable norm in the
world. Even though not all children or young adults are think and beautiful they are still very
beautiful. The world needs to show that all young children and young adults are beautiful, no matter if
they are think or not, parents and peers need to stop discouraging young children and young adults to
only be a certain way. All young children and young adults should have support and encouragement
regarding their bodies. Background The topic of young children and young adults having body image
issues is a topic that has been around for a few year. Society as a norm prompts being young and
beautiful. Personally myself as a young child and teenager my mother would tell us we could ... Show

Have we ever said this around a young child? Five to 8 year olds who think their moms are unhappy
with their bodies are more likely to feel dissatisfied with their own, according to Common Sense
Media s report (Wallace, 2015). I myself have never said something like this around a young child;
however, I know my sister did something similar and her then seven year old daughter started
criticizing her own body. My sister being the quick thinking hands on parent asked her why she
thought her body image was negative and my niece said because this make me look fat like you said

Gjb2 Protein In Gap Junction
Abstract Summary
Gap junctions are large channels which join two adjacent cells connecting their cytoplasm s allowing
direct cell to cell communication and interactions by the channeling of molecules. A gap junction is
composed of two hemichannels known as connexions, one located on the membrane of each of the
adjacent interacting cells. The binding of six connexin subunits is required for the formation of each of
the connexion hemichannels which then join together via hydrophobic interactions forming a pore
through which molecules such as metabolites, calcium and potassium ions as well as secondary
messengers (IP3, cAMP) are able to passively diffuse across between interacting cells. This mode of
cell to cell communication via the passage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Studies have been done on the crystal structure of the channel in particular structure of its pore
suggests its importance in the regulation of its size dependant permeability by trans junctional voltage
for specific ions and molecules between the connected adjacent cells. (Qu, Y., Dahl, G. , 2002 ; Maeda
et al. , 2009).The permeability is regulated at the funnel of the channels pores which is composed of 6
amino terminal alpha helices lining the channels walls. The funnel is located on the cytoplasmic side
of either cell which are narrower than the inside of the channel itself allowing for the selective
permeability of different sized molecules and ions by trans junctional voltage (Qu, Y., Dahl, G.). In the
case of deafness, some mutations resulting in abnormal connexin26 subunits result in a change in this
voltage of the gated channels which in turn alter the selective permeability of the formed connexion
gap channel. (Mese et al. ,

The Ups And Downs Of The Loman Family
The Ups and Downs of the Loman Family In Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman the main character
Willy Loman along with other characters Biff, Happy and Linda Loman all have their good and bad
times throughout the story. These good and bad times are relived through the flashbacks of the Willy
Loman. These flashbacks range from the days Willy spent time with Biff and Happy throwing around
the football, to Biffs big football game, and Willy s affair with the lady in Boston. Miller States many
themes throughout the play with three being Biff trying to impress Bill Oliver and his father Willy ,
Willy s confidence when meeting with his boss Howard and, Willy and Linda s achievements they had
living together and all of these themes lead to Willy s downfall at the end of the story.

In Act 2 the play states All the cement, the lumber, the reconstruction I put into this house. There aint a

makes sure it does not have anything wrong with it. He also wants to keep his in a good condition
because they have owned the house for so long and there mortgage is almost paid off. Even though he
does not like living in the city because the building were like walls and he couldn t plant his garden in
the back yard he still kept his house up neat and damage free. This is the third and final example that
presents the idea of the characters relationship in Act 2.

Warrior Women Oppression
Warrior Women: Oppression and Strength of Female Protagonists in Mrs. Dalloway, The Woman
Warrior, and The Handmaid s Tale In most history books, women get far fewer pages than men. This
is sometimes attributed to a lack of material left behind by women through time, but this and their
relative lack of coverage are both testaments to the limits placed on women in the male dominated
societies of the times discussed. An article on feminist literary criticism quotes Virginia Woolf saying,
woman pervaded poetry from cover to cover but was in fact the slave of any boy whose parents forced
a ring on her finger (Lanser 5). In more recent history, strong female voices abound in literature as
well as in social issues, or, as is common, in both. Like Virginia Woolf, other prolific authors of the
nineteenth century wrote of the plights of female protagonists in ... Show more content on

The novels Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, the Woman Warrior by Maxine Hong Kingston, and
The Handmaid s Tale by Margaret Atwood demonstrate the strength of female characters in the face of
oppression by the customs of patriarchal societies, cultural gender stereotypes, and psychological
factors manipulated against them. As mentioned in the quote above from Virginia Woolf s Jacob s
Room, in controlling societies, marriage can be utilized as a way of submitting women to the rule of a
man or limiting their options in society by confining them to the roles thought acceptable for a wife.
This theme is continued in Mrs. Dalloway, as marriage is displayed as a form of sacrifice in the name
of cultural values and causes suffering for multiple characters. After a visit from her idealistic and
romantic childhood friend, Peter Walsh, who has just returned from India, Carissa considers her life
following the suggestion of what could have been if she had married him instead of Mr.

The three main successors forged dynasties that lasted a couple of centuries until they all were
defeated or came under the sway of Rome.
Rome fought three wars with Carthage called the Punic wars, these wars were fought between
264B.C. and 146B.C. (First 264 241B.C., Second 218 202B.C., Third 149 146B.C.) The first two
Punic wars were essentially defensive wars for Rome especially the second where Hannibal in
command of the Carthaginian forces crossed the Alps and attacked mainland Italy, the Romans were
able to repel Hannibal and his army, Hannibal was eventually defeated by the famous General Publius
Cornelius Scipio and pushed back to North Africa and Carthage. The second war reduced Carthage to
nothing but a city state, but Rome still feared that Carthage could rise once again to its former military
might and with the third Punic war; Rome razed Carthage to the ground, slaughtering or enslaving its
inhabitants. At the sight of the city utterly perishing amidst the flames Scipio burst into tears, and
stood long reflecting on the inevitable change which awaits cities, nations, and dynasties.
Rome and the Hellenistic kingdoms fought four wars called the Macedonian wars between 215B.C.

Public Key Encryption Essay
A Method for Obtaining Digital Signatures and Public Key Cryptosystems.
About the paper:
Public Key encryption system was first outlined by this paper. Public key encryption system is still in
wide use today, and known by the name (initials) of the paper s three authors i.e. RSA.
The paper presents an encryption method which is presented with the unusual property that publicly
revealing an encryption key does not result in revealing the corresponding decryption key. It has two
important consequences
Couriers or other secure means are not needed to transmit the keys.
By using a privately held decryption key, a message can be signed.
In the paper the theory of public key cryptosystems is introduced in the first 4 sections after which ...

If these numbers satisfy the conditions that 1 d is co prime to (p 1)*(q 1), and 2 e*d = 1 holds modulo
(p 1)*(q 1), it can be proven and stated that for any non negative integer M n the identity (M^e)^d =
(M^d)^e = M holds modulo n. Encryption then consists of a number exponentiated by e modulo n, and
decryption in exponentiation by d (again, modulo n).
Pros
The paper has proposed a method for implementing a public key crypto system whose security rests in
part on the difficulty of factoring large numbers. If the security of our method proves to be enough, it
allows secure communications to be established without the use of couriers to carry keys, and it also
permits one to sign digitised documents. Hence security plays an important role.
Cons
The Public key (e,n) is public, and using the genearlised Euclidian algorithm d can be derived from (e,
p, q), the security of the cryptosystem depends on large numbers being difficult to factor. There is no
efficient methods of factorising integers and the problem of factorising integers is a well studied
problem in number theory. Because of this, the authors argue that the system is likely to be broken any
time soon. The last sections of the paper briefly describe proposed algorithms on how to generate key
pairs efficeintly, as well as discuss why other methods of deriving d from (e,n) can be

Essay about Managed Care
Managed Care
There are so many problems with our society s health care. Everyone wants to find a
solution, but no one has been able to come up with one yet. Many different things have been
tried, but none have put a cease to the exorbitant costs, which most believe to be the main
problem. Out of everything tried, the most recent and popular system is known as managed care.
Managed care is the most common form of health insurance in the United States, and provides
more a cost efficient coverage than paying a fee for service charge. However, it is also a very
complicated system. Over the next few pages I am going to try and go over the main parts of the
managed care structure. In the end, I am going to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the goals have not yet been met, managed care has
continued to grow throughout the past four decades. At the end of 1996, there were over 600
HMO s in operation, enrolling around 65 million members, which is about 1/4 of the population
(Tufts 1998).
Before I get into the different types of managed care organizations, I am going to go over
some cost control methods in managed care. Managed care organizations are different methods
used to control utilization of services. Utilization management requires three things. First, you
have to have an expert evaluation of which services are medically necessary in a given case. This
ensures that unnecessary services are kept to a minimum. Secondly it requires a determination of
how those services can be provided most inexpensively, while maintaining a high level of
quality of care. It also requires a review of the process of care and changes in the patients
condition to revise the course of medical treatment if necessary. The methods that are most
commonly used for utilization monitoring and control are choice restriction, gatekeeping, case
management, utilization reviews, and practice profiling.
The first method I am going to talk about is choice restriction. Traditional health
insurance gave the insured open access to any provider. This led to an over use of services. Most
of the managed care plans have some sort of

Frederick Douglass And President Lincoln
Thesis:
Douglass and President Lincoln agreed that slavery needed to be abolished and the Nation needed to
be united as one. Lincoln realized that he needed to bring in Frederick Douglass; the combination of a
strong and influential black leader and the President of the United States could now create a cohesive
group of abolitionists and the Union. Frederick Douglass realized that President Lincoln s own
personality and political judgment would help him free slaves across the country. Realizing each other
s strengths, both men were able to be effective through the use strong actions and powerful words of
one another; their relationship played a key role in changing the nations views on slavery and race.
I. Introduction
a. Frederick Douglass and President Abraham Lincoln were the two most influential men during the
Civil War. Both had their struggles in life; Lincoln born into a poor white family in Kentucky and
Frederick Douglass born as a slave in Maryland.
b. Despite their disadvantages and slow start, both achieved spectacular accomplishments. Lincoln did
not have formal schooling or any type of help on political stages and still rose to become one of the
most influential and greatest presidents the world has ever seen. Douglass was a twenty year slave;
escaping in 1837. He was a self taught man who became educated and the most influential black man
in the world during that time.

Jane s Austen s Use of Realism in Persuasion Essay
Jane Austen only ever had six completed novels the last to be published being Persuasion (1818), all
of which were based around the realist and novel of manners genre. Persuasion which falls into both
these categories follows the tale of Anne Elliott, a character based upon the Cinderella archetype.
Romanticism and novels of manners still to this day serves the same purpose, it provides the reader
with a window in which to peer into someone else s life, some may have seen their reflections,
especially the landed gentry of the day, who were of course Austen s subject matter, for the poorer
classes, who were able to read or even afford a book, it revealed what was going on behind those close

Austen s talent for detailing real life, provided her with much praise, Sir Walter Scott was just one of
many who praised her methods writing in his journal; That young lady has a talent for describing the

met with. The big Bow wow strain I can do myself like any now going; but the exquisite touch, which
renders ordinary commonplace things and characters interesting, from the truth of description and
sentiment, is denied me. As Austen s narrative strategies are analysed, one is closer to revealing the
reasoning behind her immense success as a novelist. The use of realism offer s and insight into the
unknown for most readers, but by creating characters such as the heroine, Anne Elliott who the reader
can be most associated with, assists Austen in influencing the reader.
The novel uses an unknown third person omniscient narrator; this literary technique is regularly used
within Austen s novels. The narrator s judgements however are similar to those that we would expect
from the novel s protagonist Anne Elliott. The reader is persuaded to make judgments on the
characters within the novel by observing the behaviour and reactions of how they interact with the
novel s protagonist Anne. Hawthorne

Monty Python And The Holy Grail Satire
In Monty Python and the Holy Grail satire is used quite often to make fun of the Catholic faith. One of
the most noteworthy moments is near the beginning of the movie when the monks are walking
through the town chanting. Monty Python may use rather ludicrous humor to get their point across;
however, they do a good job conveying the faults in the Catholic Church and display them on film.
The movie does this through setting, characters costumes, and music. Near the beginning of the movie
there is a group of monks seen walking through an impoverished town. Unlike what one would expect
from people of God, the monks do not stop to help anyone or even look at them. When there are
people lying on the ground half dead, most people would think that the monks would be there to heal
and give food to the poor and dying; however, they are seen passing by with their neat robes on. This
represents the complete lack of caring that the upper class religious leaders show for the common
person. In the middle ages, the church had complete power over the peasants. They had the peasants
farm land for them and even pay taxes. The church influenced peasants to pay tithes, otherwise known
as taxes, by threatening them. The church convinced the peasants that if they did not pay taxes then
their souls would go to Hell in the afterlife. The poor had to pay ten percent of their earnings to the
vastly rich church every year. All of the peasants are too scared to stand against the church

Advantages Of Indian Reservation System
There arrives a time when almost everything overstays its welcome and needs changes to survive.
India s reservation system is one of those systems which has overstayed its due and has been a failure
in meeting its initial objectives. It was introduced to erase the caste discrimination and the divisions in
the Indian society. What it has done is that it has etched these caste lines even deeper into the society
setting up the general castes against the lower castes. The reservation system was thought to promote
the weaker and the backward classes but it ended up making them tools of vote bank politics. The
reservation system of India has not been successful in eradicating as well as introducing all what it
stood for at the time of its introduction.
The Mandal Commission was introduced in 1979 to identify the socially backward classes and to set
up reservation seats to eliminate caste discrimination in the country. It used social, economic and
education factors to decide on the backwardness of the classes. But if we look at the present scenario,
reservations are determined on the basis of solely caste and nothing else. The OBCs, also called the

Similarities Between The Wanderer And The Dream Of The Rood
Comitatus in The Wanderer and The Dream of the Rood The Wanderer and The Dream of the Rood
are two Old English poems that demonstrate the link between lord and thane. This bond, also known
as the comitatus, is highlighted with imagery to effectively portray the physical intimacy involved.
The idea that everything is fleeting is emphasized to show the significance of the comitatus.
Furthermore, the beauty of the relationship is shown by contrasting the shame that the Wanderer feels
at the end of the poem to the honour and glory that is thrown upon the cross after it willingly suffers
along with Christ. In all, the ideals of the comitatus during the Medieval Times are clearly advocated
through the illustration of the physical intimacy, shame and honour involved in the two poems. To
start off, the two poems of interest both share the central idea that everything in life is fleeting. The
Wanderer is a lament on the lost ways of life. The Wanderer thinks back to the times he was free from
exile. He nostalgically compares his life then to the one he has now and comes to realize how quickly
the time has gone by. From lines 73 to 77, it says The wise man must realize how ghastly it will be
when all the wealth of this world stands waste, as now here and there throughout this middle earth
walls stand blasted by the wind, beaten by frost, the buildings crumpling. There is a lack of hope in
this passage. The idea that things that seem concrete are very temporary is emphasized when

Examples Of Suffering By Desperatio Victor Frankl
Anne and the others are able to find hope and enjoyment amidst their suffering by celebrating
Hanukkah and exchanging gifts, even in their miserable and dreary conditions. Even though they are
indefinitely confined to a small attic, Anne finds ways to brighten the lives of everyone around her by
decorating the stark living space and lightening the somber mood in the attic with her cheer and
exuberance. An example of this is shown when Anne distributes her thoughtful gifts to everyone,
lighting up their Hanukkah. In the scene, everyone (except Mr. Dussel) reminisces on how they used
to celebrate Hanukkah by exchanging gifts. Suddenly, Anne comes wearing a lampshade and bestows
everyone with a gift she made specially for them. Afterwards, Anne sings the Hanukkah song, and the
other praise Anne s kindness, which gives the group something to be thankful about and gives them a

the most distressing situations. Even though Frankl s group was living in dreary and miserable
conditions, they created meaning in their minds as a mechanism for hope and survival in order to

Prelude and The Wasteland by T.S. Elliot
In our daily lives, we are too busy to do the things that we always want to do. So, we live lives of
boring repetition. However, we have become adjusted to it so almost none of us complain. T.S. Eliot
was born in St. Louis, Missouri and eventually moved to London, England. Extremely well educated,
Eliot wrote many highly praised poems. For example, The Waste Land was assembled out of dramatic
vignettes based on Eliot s London life. Another poem, Preludes, talks about the daily lives of people
where it starts off simple, but leads into something deeper than everyday life. Three reasons why I
relate to Preludes by T.S. Eliot are evenings, mornings, and spiritually. In Preludes by T.S Eliot, a city
is being described by all the things that happen in the evening. The smell of steaks is everywhere.
When this poem was composed, steaks were inexpensive and were commonly eaten by members of
the lower class. I can relate to this part of the poem because my family cooks steaks and my town
calms down in the way that the city being described does. The poem then goes on to describe how a
gusty shower wraps the grimy scraps of withered leaves about your feet and newspapers from vacant
lots. The streets are gross and unattractive and the street lights flicker on and off. Parts of Worland
have grimy looking streets and houses like this city does. A lonely cab horse chugs along the darkened
streets. I believe that part of the poem is telling us that life is empty at night and everything

Mid Term Break by Seamus Heaney and Report to Wordsworth by Boey Kim Cheng present a
situation of crisis and both convey the significance of life and death to the reader through real life
examples. Heaney s autobiographical Mid Term Break highlights the childhood trauma in
experiencing a death, whilst in Report to Wordsworth Cheng presents a pessimistic view on Nature s

progression towards death due to human negligence is expressed and comparisons to the beauty of the

Hyperion And Keats Comparison
Hyperion, Keats shows a remarkable development of his thought about the art of writing and also
about the poet who is just like a type of healer to humankind. Keats begins to write Hyperion after
returning from Scotland to nurse his dying brother Tom who is suffering from painful tubercular. Tom
died on December 1818 and after this shocking event Keats is unable to make any appreciable
progress on Hyperion. So due to the emotional disturbance he isn t quite ready to write his epic. He
tries to continue the poem but he only gives the reason in his letters of not writing about it. He writes

challenges and its environment. Putting this into perspective seems to be an appropriate approach. For
instance, an OTA can help figure out a plan of action for a group of preschoolers who have a sensory
processing disorder and are oversensitive to sight, sound or even smell. Practitioners who demonstrate
the predictive value of the occupational therapy process help improve the quality and effectiveness of
health care which are key goals of the ACA (Persch, 2013, p.384). Ultimately, my interest in a
pediatric setting originated from working at a preschool. Seeing kids with a sensory processing
disorder (SPD), birth defect or a physical/mental disadvantage really opened my eyes, and before I
thought I didn t have much to offer, but now knowing that becoming an OTA meets these needs is very
incentive for me to pursue this career so that I can really have a chance to help

A Brief History of Yellow Fever Essay examples
You woke up a week ago feeling odd. You were not sure what was wrong, but your body was full of
aches, you felt hot to the touch, and you kept vomiting. Your mother told you to lay down and rest,
hoping it was just a cold. After a few days, you began to feel better, well enough that you wanted to
return to the river to watch the trade ships come in. Now, unfortunately, your symptoms have come
back with a vengeance your fever is back along with intense abdominal pain, your mouth is bleeding
without being wounded, and every time you vomit, it appears black in color. Also, when you look in
the mirror, your skin has changed from the sun kissed color you have always been to a dull yellow
hue. The doctor comes in to examine you; he makes many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The symptoms documented from that outbreak are the first recorded that best match those of Yellow
Fever, then termed black vomit, because the infection would cause bloody vomit. Later, it was deemed
Yellow Jack due to the typical jaundice the infection would cause: a yellowing of the skin, eyes, and
other mucous membranes. For the next few centuries, outbreaks would occur near ship trade routes,
further showing that the disease was probably brought from Africa on ships. The fictional story of the
Flying Dutchman was based on stories of Yellow Fever because wherever the Dutchman went, all
would perish. Likewise, when an infected ship would come to in port, citizens of that town or city
quickly began to take ill and many would die (Dickerson 48). Many times, a town would refuse to let
ships port in fear that they would bring sickness with them. In the late 1700s, the city of Philadelphia,
then the capital of the newly formed United States of America, lost nearly one tenth of its population
due to an outbreak of Yellow Fever. Because of the outbreak, many well known political figures fled
the city and the country moved the capital from to Washington D.C. where it has stayed ever since.
During the same time, Yellow Fever also attacked Europe and Central America, presumably still being
spread by trade and slave ships. It is believed that in the early 1800s, Napoleon desired to sell
Louisiana to the United States after Yellow Fever drastically reduced his army

The Passion Of The Christ
Passion of the Christ
In this film Passion of the Christ the scene begins with Jesus being brought into a Roman court yard
bound in shackles and chains, limping and visibly beaten from the night before. Jesus was arrested in
the early am hours so that any protest of the Pharisees behaviors would not be made. The elders of the
Synagogue want to be in full control of what happens to Jesus. In this analysis I will explain my
viewpoint of Why it was so vital for bad things to happen to this man and What good can come from
violence being displayed in this manner?
Jesus is brought in to stand trial before Pilate a Roman governor. Pilate clearly does not want to
condemn this man; this was partly because he sees no real crime committed and partly because of a
vision his wife had in a dream. Pilate first asks the Jewish High Priests Do you always punish your
prisoners before they re judged? Pilate questions Caiaphas and Jesus and finds no merit worthy of
death and tries to pass the decision of Jesus fate off to King Herod. However, King Herod gets
nowhere with his line of questioning towards Jesus so he sends the decision back to Pilate. Pilate
undeniably does not wish to crucify this man and attempts to free him by allowing a choice for a
prisoner to be freed. Yet, to his surprise the people decide to free Barabbas, a murder, over freeing
Jesus, a non violent man. This decision was thanks to the persuasion of Caiaphas and the other men of
the cloth. Once again, Pilate

Psychoanalytic Personality In Lord Of The Flies
Psychoanalytic Personality Essay William Golding is a very strange man. The types of stories that he
wrote are very demonic, strange, and very insane to the reader. His demonic ways of life all lead to
him writing the novel, Lord of the Flies. Throughout the book, William Golding shows examples of
Freud s characteristics of the three different types of personality. The three characters that show these
examples are stranded on an island and showing whether or not they will have the civilized side of
them left. ( Id, Ego and Super ego ) The three characters on the island are Jack, Ralph, and Piggy.
The first personality is ID. ID operates on the pleasure principle which is the idea that every impulse
should be satisfied immediately, regardless of the consequences. When the ID achieves its demands,
they then experience pleasure. When it is denied, they then experience unpleasure or tension.
(McLeod) The best character from Lord of the Flies that fits this personality is Jack. Jack is willing to
do anything for his clan of wild hooligans and that even means killing anything to protect them, for
example killing the beast before it kills them all. Also, he is eager to make rules and punish those who
break them, he makes others follow them but he doesn t follow those same rules that he creates.
(Golding ) The other two characters are nothing like Jack but they do care about the others like Jack
does.
The next personality of the three is Ego. Freud s famous motto for

Mike Rezendes Corruption In The Film Spotlight
Society relates corruption due to possession of power with the government or other politicians. People
rarely think of those they trust, such as family members or closest friends. Despite that, some
individuals use their positions to take advantage of that trust.
In Spotlight, a team within the Boston Globe called Spotlight investigates claims that priests are
molesting children. The film follows the journalists gathering evidence of the corrupted system
(Spotlight).
The characters in Spotlight each act base on moral, journalistic, or legal ethics.
Journalistic and legal ethics describe what individual can and cannot do due to the nature of their

Mike Rezendes is biased against the church, wanting to show the public what they have done so that
no more children would have to suffer. Rezendes wanted to quickly print the article because he was
afraid that in another newspaper s hands, the article would only be swept under the rug.
This shows the audience that Rezendes places value in the journalistic ethic of completeness.
Rezendes was scared that another newspaper would print the article ahead of them and not investigate
the full story. However, by rushing the story the team will cut down on investigating and exclude
valuable information. Rezendes, did not care for both sides of the story, which went against the
journalistic ethic of fairness (Ethics Handbook). Although it may not be preferred to report the priests
perspective, the story must be impartial (Spotlight).

Battle Of Troy Research Paper
The battle of troy started when Paris (Trojan prince) kidnapped Helen (queen of Sparta). The battle
was basically about getting back Helen so they could kill her for betrayal. They would not give her
back and so the battle would rage for 10 years with a lot of death. The battle with Hector and Achilles
was kind of funny because when Achilles called out Hector and they fought they fought for their
respective countries with the winner claiming victory for their side. This was done to save the lives of
many. Achilles was invincible and killed hector easily. He then dragged his dead body around the
entire building and they were upset about that. Then the father of hector came to the house of Achilles

The Persian military had greater numbers but they wouldn t back down from a fight. The Greeks
agreed that Sparta would lead them. They chose to defend a narrow pass between the mountains of
Greece and the sea. (Thermopylae). The Greeks only had 300 soldiers lead by Leonidas (king of

When the Persians got to Greek, they sent a scout to check it out. In front of the wall there was 300
Spartans combing their hair and exercising. The king was warned not to misread the information. The
Spartans were going to fight to the death with honor and bravery. They finally attacked after a nerve

pretended to retreat so they would chase him but then they would turn on the Persians and in
confusion kill a lot of them. In two days the bigger Persians were not able to defeat the army of

Airport Construction Has A Major Effect On The Community
Airport construction has a major effect on everyone involved and also the community around the
airport. When an airport begins to make plans for expansion or repairs a whole list of things are
researched and planned years in advance. The airport manager is responsible for overseeing the
project and confirming that everything goes as planned and everyone stays safe in the process. There
are multiple regulations to abide by not only from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), but by
the city and the Occupational Safety and Health Association (0SHA). All of these regulations are
enforced to help mitigate the risk involved in airport construction. Airport construction is normally
short term but whiles it s being performed everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So with that being an issue the airport is faced with the decision of buying new land which usually
results in buying whole neighborhoods and businesses. By doing this the airport personnel has to
make it right for the people living in these neighborhoods and offer them good compensation to move
away from the airport. They also have to think about the businesses around there and how the
economy will be effected if those around forced to move. But if the economy will benefit from the
construction at the airport in the long run the homeowners and businesses will not have a choice to
stay, but once again they will be takin care of. Communities that use roads and highways by airports
can be burdened by airport construction because of the increased traffic from construction vehicles
hauling equipment and supplies to the airport. A lot of times construction companies have to travel
through neighborhoods and other main roads that causes huge headaches for the community.
Airport construction also poses a short term but substantial threat to the environment with all the
different jobs being done, there are a lot of different construction equipment such as cranes, dozers,
excavators, concrete equipment, etc. that can cause problems with the environment. The main
environmental issues affected by include air, water, and noise pollution. Air pollution has always been

Figurative Language In The Alchemist
The Alchemist Figurative Language Coelho uses a simile in the sentence; The Alchemist fell as silent

Present sales of the Paramount in razor industry come to $170 million and Paramount Pro contributes
to this significantly. By introducing Clean Edge in the mainstream sector a 60% fall in the sales of Pro
is predicted and the revenue generated by it will come down to $68 million. But it is expected that
clean edge will generate a revenue of $147.8 million* and in turn Paramount can achieve a net sales of
$215.8 million. Marketing cost is approximated to $42 million and Paramount will be able to generate
a profit of $173.8 million. If they had positioned it in the niche segment they would lose only 35%
sales of Pro. But at the same time, due to the constraints in the market clean edge can raise sales of
only $52.8 million and the net sales will total to $163.3 million. Here the marketing cost is
approximated to $15 million and the revenue generated will amount to $148.3 million. Thus the
figures clearly indicate that concentrating the mainstream would be more beneficial. Also Paramount
will be able to achieve a profit margin of $3.09 per unit even after providing distributors a margin of
$3.36 per unit.

The Effects Of Psychological Counseling On Pregnant Women...
The Poster session was very informative, it had various topics that had information on relevant health
issues. One the posters that caught my attention was To explore the impact of psychological

Fatima Riaz. The aim of that study was to research the impact of psychological counseling on
pregnant women who were 35 years old or above which are at a high risk of having a child born with
Down syndrome. The objective was to minimize the anxiety and psychological stress mothers endure
after receiving those abnormal test results. One of the things I personally learned was that its an issue
that is indeed relevant, I was told by the presenter that 95% of pregnant women terminate their
pregnancy once they are informed through screening that their child will be born with Down

The Man, The Myth, The Legend
A man by the name of Walt Disney, is the ideal symbol of an American hero. Disney is known to bring
inspiration and imagination into many of his productions. Disneyland, the happiest place on earth, was
built by Disney in the late forties. As the founder of Walt Disney Company, and a producer, he has
collected a record of fifty nine nominations as an Academy Award winner, winning thirty two awards,
and still holding the record. At sixty five, Disney died of lung cancer, leaving behind the Florida

Understanding GDPR Regulations What it Means for Cyber Security
On May 25, 2018 the European Union will begin enforcing the new General Data Protection
Regulations (GDPR) that will create one data protection standard throughout the EU. These
regulations were designed to create a unified standard for personal data privacy and to simplify the
enforcement of data privacy laws throughout all EU countries. What some organizations are surprised
to learn, is that these regulations go beyond the physical confines of the EU and apply to any
organization that collects or holds information on EU citizens. This means that companies throughout
the world need to understand and ensure compliance with GDRP guidelines if they ... Show more

Organizations in control of the data must provide a free electronic copy of the data.
Right to be forgotten: Covered data subjects have the right to have the organization in control of
his/her personal data erase and stop using that data if they withdraw consent. When this happens, the
organization s data controller must weigh the subjects rights vs. the public interest in the availability
of the data.
As you can see, GDPR creates a lot of new regulations surrounding data use. This is a short list of
examples, but GDPR also includes rules for data portability, legitimate use of data for direct
marketing, data profiling and more.
How does this impact an organization s cyber security approach?
While every company should always be considering the safety and security of information, GDPR is
looking to ensure that organizations are taking data security seriously and incorporating it into the
initial design of any new systems, as well as securing all existing systems. Many large companies
collecting data on EU citizens will be required to employ a Data Protection Officer to ensure
compliance and proper reporting.
Similar to US HIPAA requirements, GDPR calls for organizations to limit personal data access to only
those users that requires the specific data to perform his/her job. Organizations must also prove that
appropriate network safeguards are in place to protect the privacy of the data. With the

The polarity between Auschenbach s stiff cultural environment and his resulting lifestyle and the

the novella (Mann, Death in Venice). The importance of Venice, Italy being chosen as the second
setting is that Venice is everything Auschenbach and his accustomed cultural environment are not.
And it is this very contrast that temps and leads Auschenbach down the rabbit hole. As Hannelore

As stated in Professor Raymond Gray s lecture notes for Death in Venice . Mann was profoundly

Emma Burke s point of view of the earthquake in Comprehending the Calamity was that it was

The Therapeutic Potential of Genistein for Obesity Linked Cancer First Author1, Second Author2 (14)

University Name, Country Name) (10 Italic) Abstract: With obesity and cancer being a global issue,
this review will be focused on linking genistein s ability to simultaneously treat both related diseases.
Extensive studies have been done on genistein as a therapy for diabetes and obesity, but not enough
has been researched in its effect on obesity associated cancer. Obesity linked cancer arises at a cellular
level due to adipocytes ability to release hormones and growth factors (adipocytokines) inducing
carcinogenesis. Varying levels of adipocytokines, including leptin and adiponectin, can promote the
development of metabolic disorders such as cancer and diabetes. Therefore the most effective
treatment is to target the molecular pathways that link obesity to cancer. Genistein is known for its anti
cancer effects and inhibition of adipocyte enlargement and differentiation. This can serve as a targeted
therapeutic drug that can concurrently treat cancer and obesity. This review will cover four parts to
support the promising effects of genistein: obesity and cancer, dietary anticancer agents, clinical
significance, and future directions. Keywords genistein, adipocytes, carcinogenesis, hormones,
treatment (10 Italic) I. INTRODUCTION (11 BOLD) Industrialized societies have witnessed

What Predictive Modeling Situations Would The Aic...
3 In what predictive modelling situations would the AIC statistic be the most appropriate choice, and
why?
Akaike (1973) adopted the Kullback Leibler definition of information, I(f;g) , as a natural measure of
discrepancy, or asymmetrical distance, between a true model, f(y), and a proposed model, g(y|β),
where β is a vector of parameters. Based on large sample theory, Akaike derived an estimator for of
the I(f;g) general form 〖AIC〗_m = 2 Ln (L_m ) + 2 〖.k〗_m where Lm is the sample log
likelihood for the mth of M alternative models and km is the number of independent parameters
estimated for the mth model. The term, , may be viewed as a penalty for over parameterization. A
min(AIC) strategy is used for selecting among two or more competing models. In a general sense, the
model for which AICm is smallest represents the best approximation to the true model. That is, it is
the model with the smallest expected loss of information when MLE s replace true parametric values
in the model. In practice, the model satisfying the min(AIC) criterion may or may not be (and
probably is not) the true model since there is no way of knowing whether the true model is included
among those being compared. Thus, for example, in comparing four hierarchic linear regression
models, AIC is computed for each model and the min(AIC) criterion is applied to select the single best
model.
The choices for the selection criterion have several model fit statistics that are useful for model

Miley Cyrus s Brand Identity Essay
Miley Cyrus s brand identity and start text was configured through her years on her hit sitcom. She

Healthy Fast Food
It is nearly impossible to turn on the television or radio and not be hit with advertisements introducing
the latest fast food trend – fresh and healthy food options. More often, the media bombards us with
slogans such as Subway s common pitch to eat fresh or McDonald s million dollar advertisement
campaign to try the new fruit and walnut salad. Attention has made an abrupt turn from the greasy,
deep fried originals at the fast food chains to more health conscious food choices. Even a documentary
of a man named Morgan Spurlock made headlines and won awards when he ate McDonald s three
times a day for a month and publicized the effects through a movie called Super Size Me. Shortly after
Super Size Me caught high publicity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Obesity and the desire for freshness are the two focal reasons fast food chains have gone healthy. A
high percentage of Americans are over weight, and those same individuals supply the profit for the
fast food industry. Close to one hundred percent of the items on a fast food menu contain excess
amounts of fats, sugars, and carbohydrates – leaving people full with empty calories. Many
individuals today, however, are recognizing the side effects fast food has on their lifestyle. The
demand for fresh products that meet dietary food guidelines is forcing the fast food industry to create
salads, fruits, yogurts, and grilled entrees. Arguing that the new healthy food choices are due to a
desire to expand the market has its valid points, however, are not the causes for the change – it just
happens to fit in perfectly with the scenario. Obesity and freshness have provoked a new health trend
in fast food, and it is no secret with all the advertisements. So dare to super size an order of healthy
fast food – a once considered oxymoron now becoming more of a reality.

Impact On Andy Warhol

called pop art. He became a controversial artist because of this. Warhol changed the way people saw
art and created an artistic revolution. Andrew Warhol was often sick. He had a nervous system disease
called chorea, which only got worse after he became a hypochondriac (scared of doctors and
hospitals). This had a great impact on Warhol because he was bedridden and missed a lot of school.
He spent much of his time at home collecting pictures of famous movie stars and listening to the radio.

  • 3. Gjb2 Protein In Gap Junction Abstract Summary Gap junctions are large channels which join two adjacent cells connecting their cytoplasm s allowing direct cell to cell communication and interactions by the channeling of molecules. A gap junction is composed of two hemichannels known as connexions, one located on the membrane of each of the adjacent interacting cells. The binding of six connexin subunits is required for the formation of each of the connexion hemichannels which then join together via hydrophobic interactions forming a pore through which molecules such as metabolites, calcium and potassium ions as well as secondary messengers (IP3, cAMP) are able to passively diffuse across between interacting cells. This mode of cell to cell communication via the passage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Studies have been done on the crystal structure of the channel in particular structure of its pore suggests its importance in the regulation of its size dependant permeability by trans junctional voltage for specific ions and molecules between the connected adjacent cells. The funnel is located on the cytoplasmic side of either cell which are narrower than the inside of the channel itself allowing for the selective permeability of different sized molecules and ions by trans junctional voltage (Qu, Y., Dahl, G.). In the case of deafness, some mutations resulting in abnormal connexin26 subunits result in a change in this voltage of the gated channels which in turn alter the selective permeability of the formed connexion gap channel. Warrior Women Oppression Warrior Women: Oppression and Strength of Female Protagonists in Mrs. Dalloway, The Woman Warrior, and The Handmaid s Tale In most history books, women get far fewer pages than men. This is sometimes attributed to a lack of material left behind by women through time, but this and their relative lack of coverage are both testaments to the limits placed on women in the male dominated societies of the times discussed. An article on feminist literary criticism quotes Virginia Woolf saying, woman pervaded poetry from cover to cover but was in fact the slave of any boy whose parents forced a ring on her finger (Lanser 5). As mentioned in the quote above from Virginia Woolf s Jacob s Room, in controlling societies, marriage can be utilized as a way of submitting women to the rule of a man or limiting their options in society by confining them to the roles thought acceptable for a wife. This theme is continued in Mrs. Dalloway, as marriage is displayed as a form of sacrifice in the name of cultural values and causes suffering for multiple characters. Public key encryption system is still in wide use today, and known by the name (initials) of the paper s three authors i.e. RSA. The paper presents an encryption method which is presented with the unusual property that publicly revealing an encryption key does not result in revealing the corresponding decryption key. It has two important consequences Couriers or other secure means are not needed to transmit the keys. By using a privately held decryption key, a message can be signed. In the paper the theory of public key cryptosystems is introduced in the first 4 sections after which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If these numbers satisfy the conditions that 1 d is co prime to (p 1)*(q 1), and 2 e*d = 1 holds modulo (p 1)*(q 1), it can be proven and stated that for any non negative integer M n the identity (M^e)^d = (M^d)^e = M holds modulo n. Encryption then consists of a number exponentiated by e modulo n, and decryption in exponentiation by d (again, modulo n). Pros The paper has proposed a method for implementing a public key crypto system whose security rests in part on the difficulty of factoring large numbers. If the security of our method proves to be enough, it allows secure communications to be established without the use of couriers to carry keys, and it also permits one to sign digitised documents. Hence security plays an important role. Cons The Public key (e,n) is public, and using the genearlised Euclidian algorithm d can be derived from (e, p, q), the security of the cryptosystem depends on large numbers being difficult to factor. There is no efficient methods of factorising integers and the problem of factorising integers is a well studied problem in number theory. Before I get into the different types of managed care organizations, I am going to go over some cost control methods in managed care. One of the most noteworthy moments is near the beginning of the movie when the monks are walking through the town chanting. Monty Python may use rather ludicrous humor to get their point across; however, they do a good job conveying the faults in the Catholic Church and display them on film. The movie does this through setting, characters costumes, and music. Near the beginning of the movie there is a group of monks seen walking through an impoverished town. Unlike what one would expect from people of God, the monks do not stop to help anyone or even look at them. When there are people lying on the ground half dead, most people would think that the monks would be there to heal and give food to the poor and dying; however, they are seen passing by with their neat robes on. This represents the complete lack of caring that the upper class religious leaders show for the common person. In the middle ages, the church had complete power over the peasants. They had the peasants farm land for them and even pay taxes. The church influenced peasants to pay tithes, otherwise known as taxes, by threatening them. India s reservation system is one of those systems which has overstayed its due and has been a failure in meeting its initial objectives. It was introduced to erase the caste discrimination and the divisions in the Indian society. What it has done is that it has etched these caste lines even deeper into the society setting up the general castes against the lower castes. The reservation system was thought to promote the weaker and the backward classes but it ended up making them tools of vote bank politics. Similarities Between The Wanderer And The Dream Of The Rood Comitatus in The Wanderer and The Dream of the Rood The Wanderer and The Dream of the Rood are two Old English poems that demonstrate the link between lord and thane. This bond, also known as the comitatus, is highlighted with imagery to effectively portray the physical intimacy involved. The idea that everything is fleeting is emphasized to show the significance of the comitatus. Furthermore, the beauty of the relationship is shown by contrasting the shame that the Wanderer feels at the end of the poem to the honour and glory that is thrown upon the cross after it willingly suffers along with Christ. In all, the ideals of the comitatus during the Medieval Times are clearly advocated through the illustration of the physical intimacy, shame and honour involved in the two poems. To start off, the two poems of interest both share the central idea that everything in life is fleeting. The Wanderer is a lament on the lost ways of life. The Wanderer thinks back to the times he was free from exile. He nostalgically compares his life then to the one he has now and comes to realize how quickly the time has gone by. From lines 73 to 77, it says The wise man must realize how ghastly it will be when all the wealth of this world stands waste, as now here and there throughout this middle earth walls stand blasted by the wind, beaten by frost, the buildings crumpling. • 18. Prelude and The Wasteland by T.S. Elliot In our daily lives, we are too busy to do the things that we always want to do. So, we live lives of boring repetition. However, we have become adjusted to it so almost none of us complain. T.S. Eliot was born in St. Louis, Missouri and eventually moved to London, England. Extremely well educated, Eliot wrote many highly praised poems. For example, The Waste Land was assembled out of dramatic vignettes based on Eliot s London life. Another poem, Preludes, talks about the daily lives of people where it starts off simple, but leads into something deeper than everyday life. Three reasons why I relate to Preludes by T.S. Eliot are evenings, mornings, and spiritually. In Preludes by T.S Eliot, a city is being described by all the things that happen in the evening. The smell of steaks is everywhere. When this poem was composed, steaks were inexpensive and were commonly eaten by members of the lower class. I can relate to this part of the poem because my family cooks steaks and my town calms down in the way that the city being described does. The poem then goes on to describe how a gusty shower wraps the grimy scraps of withered leaves about your feet and newspapers from vacant lots. The streets are gross and unattractive and the street lights flicker on and off. Parts of Worland have grimy looking streets and houses like this city does. A lonely cab horse chugs along the darkened streets. I believe that part of the poem is telling us that life is empty at night and everything ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For the next few centuries, outbreaks would occur near ship trade routes, further showing that the disease was probably brought from Africa on ships. The fictional story of the Flying Dutchman was based on stories of Yellow Fever because wherever the Dutchman went, all would perish. Pilate clearly does not want to condemn this man; this was partly because he sees no real crime committed and partly because of a vision his wife had in a dream. Pilate first asks the Jewish High Priests Do you always punish your prisoners before they re judged? Pilate questions Caiaphas and Jesus and finds no merit worthy of death and tries to pass the decision of Jesus fate off to King Herod. However, King Herod gets nowhere with his line of questioning towards Jesus so he sends the decision back to Pilate. Pilate undeniably does not wish to crucify this man and attempts to free him by allowing a choice for a prisoner to be freed. Yet, to his surprise the people decide to free Barabbas, a murder, over freeing Jesus, a non violent man. This decision was thanks to the persuasion of Caiaphas and the other men of the cloth. • 24. Psychoanalytic Personality In Lord Of The Flies Psychoanalytic Personality Essay William Golding is a very strange man. The types of stories that he wrote are very demonic, strange, and very insane to the reader. His demonic ways of life all lead to him writing the novel, Lord of the Flies. Throughout the book, William Golding shows examples of Freud s characteristics of the three different types of personality. The three characters that show these examples are stranded on an island and showing whether or not they will have the civilized side of them left. ( Id, Ego and Super ego ) The three characters on the island are Jack, Ralph, and Piggy. The first personality is ID. ID operates on the pleasure principle which is the idea that every impulse should be satisfied immediately, regardless of the consequences. When the ID achieves its demands, they then experience pleasure. When it is denied, they then experience unpleasure or tension. (McLeod) The best character from Lord of the Flies that fits this personality is Jack. Jack is willing to do anything for his clan of wild hooligans and that even means killing anything to protect them, for example killing the beast before it kills them all. Also, he is eager to make rules and punish those who break them, he makes others follow them but he doesn t follow those same rules that he creates. (Golding ) The other two characters are nothing like Jack but they do care about the others like Jack does. The next personality of the three is Ego. Freud s famous motto for ... The battle was basically about getting back Helen so they could kill her for betrayal. They would not give her back and so the battle would rage for 10 years with a lot of death. The battle with Hector and Achilles was kind of funny because when Achilles called out Hector and they fought they fought for their respective countries with the winner claiming victory for their side. When an airport begins to make plans for expansion or repairs a whole list of things are researched and planned years in advance. The airport manager is responsible for overseeing the project and confirming that everything goes as planned and everyone stays safe in the process. There are multiple regulations to abide by not only from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), but by the city and the Occupational Safety and Health Association (0SHA). Right to be forgotten: Covered data subjects have the right to have the organization in control of his/her personal data erase and stop using that data if they withdraw consent. When this happens, the organization s data controller must weigh the subjects rights vs. the public interest in the availability of the data. As you can see, GDPR creates a lot of new regulations surrounding data use. This is a short list of examples, but GDPR also includes rules for data portability, legitimate use of data for direct marketing, data profiling and more. How does this impact an organization s cyber security approach? While every company should always be considering the safety and security of information, GDPR is looking to ensure that organizations are taking data security seriously and incorporating it into the initial design of any new systems, as well as securing all existing systems. Many large companies collecting data on EU citizens will be required to employ a Data Protection Officer to ensure compliance and proper reporting. Similar to US HIPAA requirements, GDPR calls for organizations to limit personal data access to only those users that requires the specific data to perform his/her job. Organizations must also prove that appropriate network safeguards are in place to protect the privacy of the data. With the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Therapeutic Potential of Genistein for Obesity Linked Cancer First Author1, Second Author2 (14) 1(Department, College/ University Name, Country Name) (10 Italic) 2(Department, College/ University Name, Country Name) (10 Italic) Abstract: With obesity and cancer being a global issue, this review will be focused on linking genistein s ability to simultaneously treat both related diseases. Extensive studies have been done on genistein as a therapy for diabetes and obesity, but not enough has been researched in its effect on obesity associated cancer. Obesity linked cancer arises at a cellular level due to adipocytes ability to release hormones and growth factors (adipocytokines) inducing carcinogenesis. Varying levels of adipocytokines, including leptin and adiponectin, can promote the development of metabolic disorders such as cancer and diabetes. Therefore the most effective treatment is to target the molecular pathways that link obesity to cancer. Genistein is known for its anti cancer effects and inhibition of adipocyte enlargement and differentiation. This can serve as a targeted therapeutic drug that can concurrently treat cancer and obesity. This review will cover four parts to support the promising effects of genistein: obesity and cancer, dietary anticancer agents, clinical significance, and future directions. Akaike (1973) adopted the Kullback Leibler definition of information, I(f;g) , as a natural measure of discrepancy, or asymmetrical distance, between a true model, f(y), and a proposed model, g(y|β), where β is a vector of parameters. Based on large sample theory, Akaike derived an estimator for of the I(f;g) general form 〖AIC〗_m = 2 Ln (L_m ) + 2 〖.k〗_m where Lm is the sample log likelihood for the mth of M alternative models and km is the number of independent parameters estimated for the mth model. The term, , may be viewed as a penalty for over parameterization. A min(AIC) strategy is used for selecting among two or more competing models. In a general sense, the model for which AICm is smallest represents the best approximation to the true model. That is, it is the model with the smallest expected loss of information when MLE s replace true parametric values in the model. In practice, the model satisfying the min(AIC) criterion may or may not be (and probably is not) the true model since there is no way of knowing whether the true model is included among those being compared. Thus, for example, in comparing four hierarchic linear regression models, AIC is computed for each model and the min(AIC) criterion is applied to select the single best model. The choices for the selection criterion have several model fit statistics that are useful for model ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
