The Spread And Continued Reproduction Of The Northern...
The Problem Domain
The spread and continued reproduction of the Northern Snakehead in the Potomac river has been and
will continue to be a threat to the integrity of the local ecosystem. The Northern Snakehead is causing
a disturbance in the local ecosystem. These fish need to either be removed from the ecosystem or their
spread halted. Since their discovery in Crofton, Maryland, drastic measures have been taken in the
past to rapidly eradicate this species regardless of lasting effects. Most of the previous solutions
include dumping large quantities of poison, draining bodies of water, and encouraging fishing. In
many cases this has caused bodies of water to be unuseable for extended periods of time. It is for these
reasons we would like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of this, Rayner Creese suggest removing native fish, draining when possible, and clearing
vegetation, to ensure maximum effectiveness. They also suggest ensuring that there is sufficient
poison such that the final amount in the water is enough to kill the fish [1].
The diminishing amounts of poison in the local waterway, by the river flowing, is something that must
be carefully considered. The article is promising in that it suggests that the poison flowing down river
will be in a low enough concentration so as to not cause much harm. This also suggests that a
controlled, continuous release will need to occur to maintain a lethal amount of poison on the targeted
portion of the river.
Potency of Rotenone on Other Species
The Public Library of Science, PLOS, published a research article in 2015 in PLOS|One, which covers
experiments done with rotenone and its effect at different concentrations over a period of 18 hours.
This article, titled An Assessment of the Effect of Rotenone on Non Target Aquatic Fauna, was
authored by Dalu, Wasserman, Jordaan, Froneman, and Weyl. These people are members of the
Department of Zoology and Entomology of Rhodes University, South African Institute for Aquatic
Biodiversity, Centre for Invasion Biology, and Scientific Services Department in South Africa. Dalu et
al. performed a experiments in water systems that were isolated from other waterways. They

The Role Of The Great Power Involvement In The Middle East
Introduction The Great Power involvement in the Middle East politics often creates and contributes to
more conflicts and wars. The Middle East, a region described by Victor Israelyan as one of sharp
confrontation between the two superpowers unavoidably fell victim to such pressures. As forms of
involvement, the great powers support each respected ally with weapons, troops and even intelligence
report, as demonstrated in 1967 war. History has provided us a lesson about great power involvement
in the Middle East. It is that, when superpowers drift away, peace, progress, moderation and stability
do not necessarily follow in their position. While the result pattern of Great power intervention is
familiar, we never fail to be shocked by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This paper will be using historical analysis to observe and analyze the changes of great power
intervention in the Middle East politics over time. To understand how their involvement, seem to
create more conflicts and wars in the region. It is important to look closely at the great power s
incentives to get involved. To elaborate more on the central argument, the paper will start with the
heating up of 1956 war of attrition and ends with the explosion of the 1973 Yom Kippur Ramadan
war. As evidence to support my claims, I will provide the consequences of each of these wars due to
great power intervention. Then, you should expect counter arguments followed by refutations. Lastly,
I will conclude my paper with critical analysis. Developing my argument The key questions that
motivate my paper are: In what ways did the great powers got involved and what were the
consequences? In this paper, great powers mainly referring to the Unites States and the Soviet Union.
Before we start, the definition of a great power that will be used in the rest of the paper. Per the
definition, a great power is a sovereign state that is recognized as having the ability and expertise to
exert its influence on a global scale. They characteristically possess military and economic strength as
well as diplomatic and soft power influence, which may cause middle or small powers to consider the

Ethical and Legal Debates on Assisted Suicide and...
One of the greatest miracles in life, is life itself, but where is life there s death. So as unexpected as
life is shall death be the same, or can we choose on how we leave this earth. Over the years, the laws
and ethical consternation regarding the debatable subject of euthanasia and assisted suicide, have been
questioned frequently by society. Though the question may never be answered between euthanasia and
assisted suicide being right or wrong, the fact of the matter is that people are still choosing their fate.
In America, euthanasia refers to a person knowingly, and purposely taking another persons life, or in a
more factual meaning killing someone who in fact couldn t kill himself. Euthanasia also known as
mercy killing is in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Which would grant the patient death by natural causes.
Whether your for or against euthanasia or assisted suicide, one major part between life and death is the
cost of living. The price for End of Life care and life support has skyrocket over the past few years
because of technology. Although technology has improved over the years on sustaining life, it has not
been proving to cure certain illness, and the cost of certain machines can well but medical bills in the
thousands. In the United States alone, millions of people have no medical insurance, and the elderly,
the poor and minorities are often denied adequate treatment thats needed. Even doctors are being
forced by HMOs to lower the care for patients who can t afford it. Drugs for assisted suicide cost on
an average of $75 to $100, which makes them far less expensive than supplying medical care.
However, it s the patient that makes the ultimate decision between suffering with disease, or accepting
euthanasia/ assisted suicide. A person has the right to die with dignity, and since there is many
successful cases of assisted suicide a patient can only feel confident on making a big decision. For
example the death of P. Matheny was widely known as a successful assisted suicide. P. Matheny was
43 and had suffered Lou Gehrig s disease. For several months, Matheny struggled with a decision on
ending his life using a lethal

Galactic Inheritors
Prepare For Corporate Wars
Galactic Inheritors is a 4X Space Strategy game that is more about the space and less about
exploration. The player will find a deep and rich story within this game. However, is it the story or the
gameplay that dictates what makes a 4X Strategy game successful?
Choose your race wisely.Choose your race wisely.
First and foremost, Galactic Inheritors should not be the first game anyone plays within the 4X
Strategy genre the player will become easily frustrated. When the game is started, it throws you into
the game without any helpful advice, details, or hints. However, it is unhelpful and counter productive.
Also I managed to make the game stop responding while trying to use the tutorials, which resulted in a

If a player is looking for a place to start within the genre, then I d recommend StarDrive, the tutorials
in that game take you step by step and covers everything that will appear within the 4X Strategy
genre.
As far as story lines go within this genre, Galactic Inheritors shines and sets itself apart from other
titles when it comes to story. If a player is seeking for depth with a story, then Galactic Inheritors is
designed with that in mind. It s a lore filled universe that is telling a story and that will warrant
multiple playthroughs if someone wants to experience everything that the story has to offer.
If story isn t your main concern and are more interested in the UI, gameplay, features, and ships, then
Galactic Civilizations III is probably more what you are looking for. Even though Galactic Inheritors
is a turn based game, I quickly discovered that if you Alt Tab between turns to do some work or take
care of something online, that when you come back to the game, it will no longer be responding and
you ll actually have to crash it to desktop. Turn based games are made to enable the user the ability to
walk away from them. That is not the case for this

What Is The Purpose Of Electromyography
Electromyography and Nerve Conduction Studies
An electromyogram (EMG) gauges the electrical activity of muscles at rest and during contraction.
Nerve conduction studies (NCS) measure how well and how fast the nerves can send electrical
signals.
The nervous system is a complex, sophisticated system that regulates and coordinates body activities.
It is made up of two major divisions: the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) and the
peripheral nervous system (all other neural elements). The brain sends out signals through electrical
signals called impulses that control the muscles of the body. Unfortunately, nerve and muscle
problems cause the muscles to react in abnormal ways.
The purpose of EMG/NCS is to localize where your symptoms are coming from. That can be pain,
any kind of numbness and tingling, and/or weakness and the test is also good at assessing the severity
of your symptoms. Typically, these studies are ordered when a patient is having some type of nerve
symptom: pain, numbness and tingling or a burning sensation, and/or any type of weakness where a
person can feel a change in muscle strength. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

muscle twitching. Problems in a muscle, the nerves supplying a muscle, the spinal cord, or the area of
the brain that controls a muscle can all be the source of these symptoms. However, the EMG does not

Summary Of When Theodore Roosevelt Saved Football
Bruce Watson, author of When Theodore Roosevelt Saved Football, writes in chronological order the
events in which he describes how football was saved from the notorious brutality the sport was once
known for. The intervention and involvement by President Theodore Roosevelt would become a key
element in the restructuring of football. While Roosevelt had never taken an interest to playing
football during his time at Harvard, he had great respect for the game. Furthermore, Roosevelt
believed the roughness nature of the game was necessary. Because of this, injuries ranging from
severe to fatal became standard. However, as stated in the reading by Watson, pressure on Roosevelt
built rapidly to take action as death tolls among players continued

Evaluating Scientific Paradigms And Predict The...
Evaluating Scientific Paradigms to Predict the Credibility of Medieval Science
Abstract
Science is the fundamental backbone to understanding how the world works. From the start of historic
civilizations to modern era, science has evolved drastically and continues to change based off of pre
existing notions formulated by pre existing notions to those. This cycle of taking ideas that have been
previously established and creating new and falsifiable hypotheses revolve around scientific
paradigms. These scientific paradigms provide accepted models that give scientists a starting point,
per se, for further research and progression beyond that point. Scientists understand that everything
they know now can later be proven false or altered to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using the scientific method helps prove previous ideas to be true by creating falsifiable hypotheses,
and not being able to prove them false. Thusly, allowing scientists to accept the Null Hypothesis ,
which states that there is no correlation between your results and hypothesis. Furthermore, referring to
the Null Hypothesis attempts to give experimental data meaning. If experimental results cannot prove
something false, and correlates with the subject at hand, you would reject the Null Hypothesis .
Methods
We can test the fallacy of folk magic by executing the following experiment. We hypothesized that,
because there are five total cards, each representing one different symbol, the participant will correctly
guess five of the twenty five cards, about twenty percent by chance. Below this number says the
student has no psychic ability, above says otherwise . To test this hypothesis, we collected data from
twenty five different students and correlated the data to folk magic s consistency. We had students
draw twenty five cards, one card at a time, and gave them the chance to correctly name each drawn
card. Not only did we test the credibility of folk magic, but we conducted a similar experiment with
respect to Astrology s fallacy. We obtained data from a wide variety of students with different
backgrounds and cultures, but analyzed one individuals results. The student obtained 8 journal entries

Island bay and Owhiro bay, Wellington to collect data on the species of the rocky shore. This area
showed a clear pattern of the low tide, mid tide, high tide and splash zone. The area had a variety of
rocky shore species which were distributed in a zonation pattern. The two species I have chosen to
investigate are the Cellana radians and the Cellana denticulata. Cellana radians commonly known as
the Golden/radiate limpet has an outer shell that is smooth and very flat and usually has a darker
colour with dark coloured lines. The Cellana radians is found in the lower intertidal zone and the mid
intertidal zone and none in the high tide zone at sirens rocks. The Cellana radians are herbivores and
feed on microalgae. The Cellana denticulata commonly known as the denticulate limpet has an outer
cap shaped shell that tends to have brown lines, this protects their muscular foot, and the Cellana
denticulata is an herbivore feeding on microalgae. It is found in the upper lower intertidal zone, mid
tide zone and very few in the high tide zone at sirens rock. The Cellana denticulata and the Cellana
radians showed that at sirens rocks the community pattern of distribution was zonation. I will also be
investigating the adaptations, tolerance levels for abiotic factors for each species and the biotic factors
such as their interspecific relationship of competition for food and space on the rocky shore surface
relating to their distribution along the rocky shoreline at sirens rocks.

Communication Between Nurses And Nurses Essay
The hand over process of communication between nurses to nurses is done with the intention of
transferring essential information for safe, and patient centered care. Traditionally, this shift report has
been done away from the patient s bedside, at the nurse s station, or other place like staff s room. In
addition, the shift report used to be delivered through audio recording of the patient s information.
These reporting mechanisms did not include face to face reporting of the patient information, nor
involvement of patient. Therefore, information regarding the patient s care was not shared with the
patient, leaving them out of his/her own care plan. Recent studies and development of Patient
Centered Care Philosophy have challenged this belief of giving a report away from the patient. Tan
(2015) said, Shift report must not only be restricted in nurse to nurse communication, but it must
involve patients as the recipients of care (p. 1). Incorporating the patient into the end of shift report is
essential for providing patient centered care and patient satisfaction. Nurses at the St Jude Medical
center in the acute in patient rehabilitation unit are not exceptional. Most of the end of the shift report
between nurses are still done away from the patient. Aim of this paper is to make a change in the work
place, which is the process of giving end of shift report at the bedside incorporating patient and
families in the acute in patient rehabilitation unit at St Jude Medical

The Surveillance Operations of the National Security Agency
The United States is founded on the concept of freedom freedom from the control of a government
that the people have no participation in or control over and freedom from tyranny. Throughout its
history the United States has often been forced to walk a difficult line and since the terrorist attacks of
September 11, 2001 that line has become increasingly blurred. The government must take certain
actions in order to provide security from those who seek to harm its citizens. But to what extent do the
citizens of the United States knowingly authorize the actions that are necessary for their protection,
and to what extent are they unaware or even purposefully deluded about the nature of such actions?
The leaking of documents by Edward Snowden beginning in June 2013 that revealed the surveillance
operations of the National Security Agency, or NSA, drew international attention to the question of
what governments can do in the name of protection and what crosses the line into unauthorized spying
on citizens. It also drew many comparisons to George Orwell s dystopian classic Nineteen Eighty
Four. After careful analysis of the novel it becomes clear that the NSA s actions bear some similarity
to the Big Brother of Nineteen Eighty Four, but there are some crucial differences that prevent the
United States from becoming the totalitarian society that Orwell warned against. Even though the
mass surveillance that the NSA performs is more encompassing than what the Party was capable of,

The Truth In Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven
In today s world, the news is constantly shrouded in controversy. Stories of violence and crime are
everywhere. Hidden amongst the plethora of articles, there s bound to be a report without a shred of
truth in it. As smart as people like to think they are, mistakes in judgement do occur from time to time.
A mere glimpse of a shocking headline is enough to throw someone off. Given enough intimidating
and persuasive words, it can be quite easy to mislead someone. When a person is overcome with
emotion, it can be even more difficult to distinguish what is real or not. Edgar Allan Poe s most
prominent poem, The Raven, gives an example. In The Raven, the Raven is not actually real, but
rather, it is a manifestation of the speaker s built up vexation; this is relevant to 2017, since people are
easily deceived when they are frustrated.
The first implication that the Raven is not real is in the beginning of the poem when the bird appears
spontaneously. At first, the speaker only hears a tapping at his door. Logically, he assumes that the
noise is that of a random visitor. Upon opening the door, however, he sees [darkness] there and
nothing more (Poe 24). The speaker returns to his chamber, but the sound continues, this time coming
from his window. Instead of finding nothing once more, he is surprised to find a raven fly in and
[perch] upon a bust of Pallas just above [his] chamber door (Poe 41). It is hard to explain how the
Raven changes its position so quickly. Because

Eugene Gladstone O Neill was born in a New York City hotel room on 16th October, 1888,he son of
famous actor James O Neill and Ella O Neill, spent the first seven years of his life touring with his

Summary Of The Crazy Cat Lady Might Be Crazy
The crazy cat lady might be crazy, but she sure does have some fuzzy socks. Okay, the socks come
later in the story. Let s start from the beginning. Since childhood, Alex had an intense love for her
numerous cats. As she was incredibly awkward, she was much more comfortable around cats than she
was people and often secluded herself in the fortress that was her room. However, as of right now her
room seemed more like a prison than a home. All she really wanted to do at that moment was to get
some fresh air. Clad in only her cat pajamas and armed with nothing but a cellphone and her keys, she
took a step into the treacherous outdoors and braved nature for the first time in what seemed like
months. However, as soon as she opened up the door her Turkish Angora, Missy, bolted into her
neighbor s yard. Alex, being the epitome of mature adults, started shouting at the bushes where Missy
had disappeared.
BETRAYAL! I FEED YOU AND THIS IS HOW YOU REPAY ME? YOU
She s alive! A thick Irish accent drifted over from the porch next door. Caught acting like a total idiot,
Alex was left temporarily speechless. Attempting to regain her dignity, she spoke up. Uhh... Well, you
uh, you see... Wait, are you Irish?
I migrated over here from Ireland a few months ago.
Oh, that s...swag. She responded while violently flailing her hands around in a horrible attempt to act
cool.
So, what did my shrubs do to offend you? He asked, completely unfazed by her awkwardness.

Cuba in the Cold War Essay
On April 17, 1961 one of the greatest foreign policy mistakes of the Cold War was made, the
attempted invasion of the Bay of Pigs, Cuba. The failed invasion happened under the administration of
John F. Kennedy and caused the deaths and imprisonment of over 1500 Cuban exiles fighting to over
throw the rule of Fidel Castro. The aftermath caused much larger impacts towards United States
foreign policy. The invasion made the United States look imperialistic to the rest of the world and
allowed the Soviet Union to portray America as an aggressive and hostile country to its neighbors,
which in turn allowed the Soviet Union to aid Cuba even more for future affairs. The Bay of Pigs also
caused President Kennedy to distrust many of his advisers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The United States attempted to assassinate Castro eight times between 1960 and 1965. These attempts
involved putting chemicals in his cigars to get him sick, poison pills, even using thallium salts to make
his beard fall out. These attempts made relations with Castro even worse, he became even more anti
capitalist and resulted in his alliance with the USSR to strengthen. Only two months after Kennedy
took office in 1961 the CIA, specifically Allen Dulles the CIA s director, came to him with the plan to
train hundreds of Cuban exiles to invade Cuba and occupy the capitol Havana. This plan was already
approved by Kennedy s predecessor Eisenhower. The exiles had already been training in Florida in
guerilla warfare for months and over thirteen million dollars had already been allocated for the
mission. The plan according to a report by the CIA s director, Allen Dulles, was to bring about the
replacement of the Castro regime with one more devoted to the true interests of the Cuban people and
more acceptable to the U.S. in such a manner to avoid any appearance of U.S. intervention . It was
important at the time that the U.S would not be known behind any attacks on Cuba. One of the main
downfalls of the attack was the failure to execute the pre invasion plans. The United States painted old

Black Men And Public Spaces Analysis
Staples, Black Men and Public Spaces, and Ivan s, Get a Knife Get a Dog but Get Rid of Guns, are
two different stories who barely share any of the same information except for people being in harm.
Staple s story about his life experiences of being a man who is feared when walking into a jewelry
store seemed different from a woman trying to get pro gun people to switch to knives instead for their
safety. From the two stories, I pulled out one thing in my mind that could pull them together as far as
their topics go. Ivan says that if you have a knife, you need to be near the person to be able to stab
them. Staples says that being seen as dangerous can be a hazard for him. I view this as if someone
were to have a gun, and Staples were to turn a corner, would they shoot him out of fear? If they had a
knife, they would only being able to stab him if Staples were actually up close to them causing harm.
Will having knives help people like Staples not to be harmed just because someone thought he looked
harmful? In Black Men and Public Spaces, I think Staples is talking to the people who fear black men,
especially in public spaces. When walking down a road at night, it is easy to be afraid of the black
man walking your way, and Staples is trying to explain that they are not all dangerous. I also think that
Staples is talking to other men who can relate to his stories. I feel he is sharing his so that they know
that they are not alone. Staples gives a short explanation of how he grew

How McCabe and Mrs Miller and Blade Runner Subvert Their Genres and Defy Audience

Two genres which have always been Hollywood staples are science fiction and the western. The
genres can be seen in films made as early as Le Voyage Dans la lune (Georges Melies 1902) and The
Great Train Robbery (Edwin S. Porter 1903). On the surface the two genres are very different,
however if one looks closely at them they are similar in many ways. Both genres usually feature
uncharted frontiers, strong silent protagonists, frightening savages (played by either space aliens or
Native Americans) and damsels in distress. The formula for these two genres was established many

One important change from traditional western is the cold, the film is set in winter in a cold climate
and Beatty goes around bundled up like a bear in a thick fur coat. The viewer can almost feel the wind
whipping through the poorly built houses and the residents shivering. Altman features the snow and
the weather prominently in his film, this is in stark contrast to a traditional western which takes place
in a warm state and in which the climate is rarely an issue. Another difference is the way in which
Altman peoples his film with realistic characters whose flaws he makes clear to the audience. This is
not an idealized west peopled by beautiful looking movie stars, even Beatty, sporting a thick beard,
and Christie are willing to look less attractive than usual for their parts. The people who live in Altman
s West have had difficult lives. They have poor hygiene and poor social skills. These realistic
characters include the workers McCabe uses to build his whorehouse as well as the whores he first
brings to town, while Altman treats these people sympathetically and their appearance and actions are
realistic it is clear that they are not prime examples of human beauty, intelligence and cleanliness. This
use of realistic characters is not always the case in idealized westerns such as High Noon (Fred
Zinneman 1952) starring the movie star lawman Gary Cooper (Will

Slaves Reaction To The Haitian Revolution
The Haitian Revolution is known to be one of the main focal points in the history of slave. It is known
for being the biggest and triumphant slave revolution in the Western Hemisphere. The Haitian
Revolution was the only revolt that led to the creation of a state free from slavery. Past the struggling,
the people of Haiti eventually, after this whole situation, won their independence from the mother
country France. This event in American history is crucial to teaching about the lives of slaves and the
struggle of slavery.
In around 1791, slaves started to defy authority and revolt against the government. These revolts did
not stop until early 1804. The Haitian Revolution, nevertheless, was significantly more mind boggling,
comprising of a few transformations going on at the same time. Slaves reaction to the French
Revolution in a way that sort of jump started the revolution and got it going.
Saint Dominigue, which is what Haiti is now known, blossomed with wealth during the 18th century.
It simply thrived off of crops such as indigo, sugar, coffee and cotton. The French Revolution played a
big part in the slaves just having enough of their rulers. However, by the time the French Revolution
started settling down in 1789, there were five particular social classes of people, if you will. It started
off with the plantation owners, also known as the white growers, who obviously owned the slaves and
the land. The other group was known as petit blancs. They had tasks such as being a craftsman, or as
they called it an artisan, a business specialist, and some even became teachers. The petit blancs were
free slaves, but some of them eventually had slaves further down their life. Those groups combined
equaled to 40,000 people. A considerable lot of the whites on Saint Dominigue started to help a
freedom development that started when France forced tariffs on the things brought into the state. The
grower did not as France s decision to prohibit trade with another country. In spite of their calls for
freedom, both the grower and petit blancs stayed focused on the establishment of servitude.
The three residual gatherings were of African plummet: the individuals who were free, the individuals
who were slaves, and the

The terms religion and spirituality can have both similarities and differences. Religion can be
explained as a set of beliefs that has structure and is practiced within a group or community. It
involves worshipping of superhuman beings, and often contains certain teachings in which its
believers/followers abide by and practice in everyday society. Although not all religions incorporate a
God , the Catholic Church is centred around the Triune God (God, Jesus, Holy Spirit). Catholic
teachings reflect the actions that God/Jesus displayed for the sake of humanity. Religious art, is
significant within a religion as it is considered to be a sacred material, in which provides proper
guidance and hope. Religious art provides many purposes such ... Show more content on

This art pictures Jesus as the Miracle Worker . This is explained in full in Matthew 12:22 33. This
story explains how Jesus sent the disciples by ship back to the other side of the Sea of Galilee after
they became caught in a wind storm. When the first saw Jesus on the water they were frightened. They
believed he was a ghost. Jesus said to them not to be afraid. In the Gospel of Matthew, Peter walked
on the water towards Jesus, but doubted himself and began to sink. Jesus reached out and caught him.
After Jesus entered the ship, the storm settled, and they arrived at land. Christian teachings consider
the story a miracle and displays the importance of faith. Peter didn t believe he could achieve what he
set out to do, and ultimately due to this he didn t succeed. This sacred story is another example of how
religion provides certain ways to live to benefit yourself and others. This interacts with spirituality as
these teachings allow people to develop personally and have a better state of mind. The main symbol
evident is the light that appears out of the darkness when Jesus appears on the surface of the water.
This symbol represents hope as Jesus has come to rescue them from the storm. The light also appeared
as Jesus calmed the storm and so the light would be perceived as a symbol for life and happiness as

Fog In Apocalypse Now
An ominous feeling can be evoked in novels and films alike when fog approaches. The encroaching
fog constraints mankind by physically limiting visibility and trapping men within their own minds
causing their behavior to be irrational. Fog is symbolic of misery. Heart of Darkness uses thick fog as
an obstacle to halt the crew s expedition to find Kurtz. Marlow, the crew s captain, does not allow the
fog to stop his devotion to Kurtz and pushes forward on his mission to rescue him. In Apocalypse
Now, Willard feels the same devotion towards Kurtz as Marlow does. But Willard has a different
mission; Willard must remove Kurtz from operating as a rogue officer in Vietnam. As the fog

Completely delusional, Kurtz exclaims the horror! The horror! and passes away naturally (Conrad
112). Marlow keeps his loyalty to Kurtz after his death to honor the devotion he felt for Kurtz when he
was alive (Conrad 112). Willard felt a similar devotion to Kurtz, but faced a different decision. Kurtz
was not in the best state of health, but he wasn t actively dying. Kurtz spared Willard s life when he
arrived at his camp unannounced, however, Willard did not spare Kurtz s life and had to follow the
instructions of his mission. Willard murders Kurtz. Willard opted to kill Kurtz rather than take him
back because of the devotion he felt. Kurtz had nothing to go home to and would have been
imprisoned for acting as a rogue officer. By killing Kurtz, Willard saves him from the horrors he
would have been greeted with from the punishment of the military. The cutting of the film limits Kurtz
s murder scene. Instead, a ceremonial cow s sacrifice by the natives is shown. The ceremonial, sacred
cow was valued greatly by the natives, like Kurtz was by Willard, who remained loyal to Kurtz to the

Windows Server Advantages There are many administration advantages for Windows Servers. One
aspect is domain operations which are an important resource available on the network through
Window Server. Making Window Server a domain controller adds security and the ability to add local

disadvantage is that the lack of graphical user inters faces, or the absence of free tools and software

Windows Server Advantages Windows server offers anywhere access with great flexibility, which
allows a company to build, deploy, and manage applications and websites on premises, in the cloud, or

frameworks, services, and tools to help increase scalability. (Microsoft, 2012). Disadvantages
Windows servers are notorious for being vulnerable to worms while there have been basically no
worms affecting UNIX in the past ten years. Any server running on windows should really have anti

Busy adults should enjoy nature with the abandon that a child would. Like an innocent child, he points
out that nature never wears a mean appearance (241). When Emersonexplains, The sun illuminates

as to how they are alike. Children are not in a rush, and neither is nature. People need to remember
their inner child and stop trying to hurry and accomplish and worry about everything all the time.
They should stop and really pay attention. Emerson makes the point that if people will look at nature
through the eyes of a child once again, and really see it as if they are looking through a transparent
eyeball, then they will get back in touch with their own thoughts and feelings. Children are not caught
up in society s politics, rules, and social problems the way adults are. Instead they are focused on the
joys of nature such as picking flowers and climbing trees. Everyone should try to look at the world in

Birmingham, Alabama was described by King to be probably the most thoroughly segregated city in
the United States and was heavily impacted by racial discrimination. The city was in need for change,

Lenin vs Stalin
Both Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin were horrible leaders of the USSR but each do have their
positives and negatives. For instance, Lenin started off by giving proletarians (workers in general)

Stalin, on the other hand, made Russia into an industrialized nation. However, this did cost lives of
millions of people by going to corrective labour camps. In my opinion, I believe that Vladimir Lenin
was the better leader.
I feel this because Lenin did have an intent to create a true communist state by having a classless
society while with Stalin, he wanted the USSR to make more money and get further industrialized. In

The first accounts of the Ancient Olympic games trace back to the year 776 BC. Held at Olympia, the
games were thought to have been dedicated to the Olympian gods , Hera, Athena, Apollo and most
prodimately, Zeus, the god of the sky and the ruler of the Olympian gods. Ancient myths associated
with the beginning games stated that Zeus, the father of humanity, have fought and defeated Cronus in
a battle for the throne of the gods. Others predicted demigod Herakles staged the games in Zeus s
honour, as he had assisted him in conquering Elis. Olympia, the site in which the games were held,

Why The Book Of Job Is Not A Punishment For Sin
The Bible is a book of many purposes, one of which is to provide us with wisdom from those who
came long before us. One of these books is the book of Job; a story about a man who s been faithful to
God and was blessed with many children and possessions. Then one day, all of his livestock and
children died, and he lost his property. Job was a loyal follower of God, not known to have committed
any wrong doing, or so he claims. His friends insist that he must have done something to deserve his
suffering. The whole book focuses on one question, is suffering a punishment for sin? Traditionally,
yes, suffering is a punishment for sin. It s God s way of disciplining His people the same way you
would put your child in a time out or take away their toys if they misbehaved. However, Job insists
that he has done nothing. God Himself says to Satan there is none like him(Job) on the earth, a
blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil. [Job 1:8] So why would God
punish a man who He Himself claims is blameless ? This must mean that suffering is not just a
punishment, but also something else. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Call Of The Wild Fittest Analysis
Some people and animals just weren t fit for the Klondike. In the adventure story The Call of the Wild
by Jack London, there is a dog named Buck that goes from domesticated in Santa Clara Valley,
California to the Klondike during the Yukon gold rush. Buck quickly learns the ways of the North land
like the Law of Club and Fang. Not all the dogs and people that Buck traveled with were fit for the
Klondike. In the The Call of the Wild the theme of survival of the fittest shines through from the dogs
to the people. One of the first ways the theme of survival of the fittest is shown is when one of the
dogs on Bucks sled dog team named Curly was attacked by other dogs and killed. On the sled dog s
journey they stop to sleep and rest, but one of the times that they stopped they got something they didn
t expect. One of the dogs named Curly was really friendly and went over to see the other dogs that
weren t on her sled dog s team. Curly then got attacked by dogs that she had never met. But she lay
there limp and lifeless in the bloody, trampled snow, almost literally torn to pieces, the Swart half
breed standing over her and cursing horribly (London 17). This proves that survival of the fittest was
in The Call of the Wild because some dogs just weren t fit for the Klondike. Like Curly and many
other dogs and some people were just not fit for the Yukon. Some dogs and people just didn t have the
characteristics to survive in the Yukon, some changed their characteristics like Buck did and some like
Curly thought that all the dogs were nice like she had known before. Another reason to show survival
of the fittest is in The Call of the Wild is when one of the other dogs on the sled team named Dolly got
rabbis by starving huskies that tried to raid their camp for food. When the starving huskies tried to raid
Buck s sled teams camp for their food they ended up giving Dolly rabies. Once Dolly got the rabbis
she started to chase Buck but when they got back around by where the sled dog owners then took an
ax to Dolly s head. The dog driver held the ax poised in his hand, and as Buck shot past him the ax
crashed down upon mad Dolly s head (London 34). This shows that during this scene, Dolly was not

Judaism And Christianity During The Roman Empire Summary
Judaism and Christianity During The Roman Empire

In order to decorously portray the evolution of Judaism and Christianity the reader needs to know how
Israel was conquered by the Roman Empire. The reader also needs to know how Christianity
developed from the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Even though Christianity developed out of the
Jewish religion both religions have their differences. Both religions also faced bigotry, discrimination,
and hostility due to the Roman Empire. Christian and Judaic history is different in many ways. The
development, persecution, and characteristics of each religion are significant.

After branching out and away from Judaism, Christianity created the New Testament. This is very
different compared to what Judaism follows in the Old Testament. Christians veritably created their
own version of the Old Testament that utilizes their own theologies and ethical ideas. Christians

original ways from the Old Testament. This created different types of Christianity such as Roman

them from Judaism. Judaism does not recognize that their Messiah has come, and would not recognize

Persuasion By Jane Austen
Jane Austen is perhaps the most popular and widely read English novelists, whose books have been
adapted and parodied countless times. On that note, what is there that I can say which has not already
been said regarding this major author. With this in mind, I will try explore her work in a manner that
would do her justice. For my essay I will look to analyze Austen s heroines and the Thorpe s that seem
to be present in her novels. The heroines of Austen s tales often come to enjoy a distinctive
relationship with the man she eventually marries. This idea differs from novel to novel but the
outcome regularly changes.
Persuasion is one of Austen s last major novels and the foundations for my essay. Persuasion along
with most of Austen s work focuses on marriage plots and happy ever after s. Austen s own social
position in society was a daughter of a clergyman, placing her family comfortably in middle class
English society. Her writing often reflects her views as she satirically criticizes certain gentry of
society as prudent. Evidently this can be seen through her description of the vain Sir Walter Elliot,
who is forced to leave their family home because of his ignorance and imprudent disregard for wealth.

A Consequentialist Action Is The Moral Worth Of An Act
A consequentialist action is a utilitarian theory. The utilitarian theory is a choice between two acts that
can maximize utility for the greatest amount of happiness for the greatest number of people.
Utilitarianism is the moral worth of an act. Utilitarian takes the right proportion of utilities to promote
happiness and prevent pain. Utilities is the expressed quality of happiness or satisfaction one gets from
something (Mossier, 2013). Happiness comes in many levels of preference. However, the downside to
utilitarianism is identifying different levels of pleasure. Identifying different levels of pleasure can be
counteracted by an irrespective feelings to a moral obligation making the pleasure more desirable

happiness altogether. One of the most important social roles is conscious gratification in convey what
is gendered equality on jobs, in health care, and with education utilizing the utilitarian theory. Acts
like changing policies to promote gender equality that utilize skills and knowledge of women for the

The Grand Nursing Theory Chosen By The Future Apn Is Roy...
The grand nursing theory chosen by the future APN is Roy s Model of Adaptation. In 1970, Sister
Callista Roy identified the need for conceptual frameworks to be developed in order to have a
foundation from which to build nursing knowledge. She developed the Model of Adaptation based on
her theory that all patients must adapt to his/her given situations; we as nurses must guide and
encourage positive adaptation for our patients (Roy, 1970). Roy s grand theory addressed all four of
Fawcett s concepts identified in her meta paradigm of nursing, adding an additional concept,
adaptation. Roy referred to the concept of person as man, identifying man as a biopsychosocial being
who received a nurse s services. Roy identified the environment as any and all focal, contextual, and
residual stimuli (1970). She addressed the concept of health as an aspect of a man s life, lying
somewhere along the health sickness continuum (Roy, 1971). In regards to the concept of nursing,
Roy identified nursing as a duty that helps and encourages man s response to environmental stimuli
(1970). The additional concept, adaptation, was identified by Roy as man s encounter and reply to any
given stimuli. This reply can be positive or negative (Roy, 1970). In addressing all the concepts
identified by Fawcett as nursing s meta paradigm, Roy strengthened her grand theory s foundation
thus adding strength to the foundation of nursing. In using Roy s framework as a model with which to
view the chosen

Persuasive Essay About Firefighters
There are situations that impact your everyday life that s when we call the Firefighters . Their lifestyle
is risky, they serve the people. Firefighters truly deserve the respect and honor from the community, at
the same time, this is a way of showing gratitude for their courage. The firefighter station that I visited
was the fire department in San Fernando called Station 98 , and their agency is Los Angeles Fire
Department, it has been around since 1886. The history of fires goes back to the 17th century. They
were called, Fire buckets . They came into existence because there was no fireman. Fire buckets were
people organizing themselves like a human chain with buckets passing around. There was at least two
to three buckets full of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According the agency of the Department of Homeland Security states that motor vehicles crashes are
the leading cause of death for an on line duty fireman. Other significant causes of death are:
caught/trapped (10%), fall (5%), collapse (3%), and other (7%). Intentions of firefighters are to make
the community safe as possible, but we the people need to think twice before we do anything else
when dealing with fire. The other things that it s a national problem for firefighters is not wearing their
seat belts when driving out to an emergency. They are so focused on saving our lives when first it s
supposed to be the opposite, their safety is first, but firemen put their lives at risk. In fact the society
make it very dangerous for every fireman, traffic is a major hazard, highways, social media and their
lack of sleep. This show an everyday the situation of a fireman because it s been argued that the
schedules in the fire department does not fit to the distance that they need to travel from home to
work. In that regard, social media is becoming an hinderance when they get film and goes viral to the
point that the firefighters personal privacy is exposed in the internet. Firefighters have been exposed
more than usual when they are on duty, working or even just being out their work. While exploring
into their field they seemed frustrate when every person that use the media to laugh at them when they

Statue Of Liberty
I will be writing my essay about a painting by Zineb Trifi Sjahsam named America. What is the
symbolic meaning of the Statue of Liberty? What is the interpretation of the Constitution? Of course, I
learned about the Statue of Liberty and the Constitution in grade school and what it is supposed to
mean. But, when we take a step back and look at the world today is freedom what we really see? Now
sure, people aren t walking around still referring to their boss as masta or being put into concentration
camps because of their beliefs, but sure enough people are being targeted because of their beliefs in
different forms now days. I choose this painting because in the mist of the horrible events going on in
today s world this painting still tells ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The artist uses the vertical and horizontal line to create a border which focuses the audience attention
on the Statue of Liberty. The artist uses implied lines all throughout the painting. The implied lines are
not lines at all but actually letters and words used to be lines. vertical and implied lines are both used
at the bottom of the Statue of Liberty to communicate the stability of the Statue of Liberty. Irregular
lines and directional line are also used in the painting to express freedom and draw the audience
attention to different areas of the painting. I believe the simple color of black paint and the tan
cannabis resembles the famous tan paper and black ink used to write the constitution. The constitution
paper is old and wrinkled the artist used a combination of white and tan brush strokes to create a
similar wrinkled paper. In the painting the artist uses shapes by creating a rectangular border around
the focal point. Lastly, I believe the artist uses passage of time to remind us of our founding fathers
values. The artist uses the constitution to communicate the beliefs of our founding fathers but writes it
in Arabic to symbolize the modern day treatment of Arabic

The Government s Political And Economic Tactics
Grande was most definitely a practicing Liberation theologian. However, he did not employ Marxists
concepts, and while he believed in the importance of political action, he focused on transforming the
lives of the poor through Biblical instruction, not political revolution. (Brackley) Grande s sermons
were addressed to three audiences: the wealthy class, the government, and the church. He admonished
the wealthy in their treatment and disdain of the poor. He challenged them to remember their
struggling brothers and provide relief and support when possible. He opposed the government s
political and economic tactics that continued to take advantage of the working class, and disapproved
of the government s actions against clergy members. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So that if Jesus crosses the border at Chalatenango, they will not allow him to enter. They would
accuse him, the man God ... of being an agitator, of being a Jewish foreigner, who confuses the people
with exotic and foreign ideas, anti democratic ideas, and i.e., against the minorities. Ideas against God,
because this is a clan of Cain s. Brothers, they would undoubtedly crucify him again. And they have
said so. (Grande)
The last group to experience Grande s controversial speeches was the church itself. The church in El
Salvador had historically united itself with the wealthy of the country, further alienating and devaluing
the poor (Status Quo 183). Grande fiercely defended the poor and argued against their maltreatment.
He also strongly advocated for social change, which he believed should start with pastoral renewal
(Brackley). All in all, Grande was more concerned with imparting Christian principles, and thus while
his speeches were built on Liberation theology, his emphasis was on the Bible and its inherent ability
to change the situation in El Salvador.
In addition to his fiery sermons, Grande fought social oppression by cultivating and nurturing
Christian base communities, or Comunidades Eclesiales de Base CEB s (Gospel 147). Grande did this
during his evangelical mission work in Aguilares, El Salvador. CEB s developed as priests moved to
poorer communities and towns. While there, they lived and worked alongside those suffering from
poverty

Comparing the Messages of Animal Dreams and The Bean...
Political and Social Messages of Animal Dreams and The Bean Trees
Perhaps The Poisonwood Bible is Barbara Kingsolver s best work. It was while reading this book
(which centers around The Congo and what the western world has done to this country) that I began to
make the connection that all of Kingsolver s books contain a political and social message. She uses
her stance as an author to illuminate her readers to situations and issues that she feels are important.
Kingsolver s voice can be heard in Animal Dreams when the main character, Codi talks about what
happened to her sister, Hallie in Nicaragua, and how unaware Americans were to what was happening
in that country. It made the news in Tucson, at least for a day. You ... Show more content on

I wanted to see how much Kingsolver has twisted real life for her stories sakes. While the stories and
characters are all spun from Kingsolver s imagination, the political issues she raises are realistic
enough to make one wonder if she hasn t taken them straight from news headlines. Because of this, I
would like to look into the reality of these issues outside of Kingsolver s novels and compare them to
how she presents them fictionally.
The second topic I chose to pursue was whether Barbara Kingsolver approaches her writing with an
agenda and if so, if that is a good or bad thing. Critics and reviewers alike have characterized Barbara
Kingsolver as a political writer and this label is not one that she denies, in fact it seems a badge that
she wears rather proudly. In an interview with Donna Perry for her book, Backtalk; Women Writer s
Speak Out, Kingsolver gives her reasons why most writers avoid this label:
It surprises me constantly that almost everybody else in the United States of
America who writes books hates to be called a political writer. As if that demeans
them...in the United States art and politics got this divorce in the fifties and there s
never been a reconciliation. Artists working in the United States remain, by and
large afraid of being labeled political, even though they re no longer afraid that
they ll lose their jobs or lose their readership. They re afraid that they ll lose there

  • 2. The Spread And Continued Reproduction Of The Northern... The Problem Domain The spread and continued reproduction of the Northern Snakehead in the Potomac river has been and will continue to be a threat to the integrity of the local ecosystem. The Northern Snakehead is causing a disturbance in the local ecosystem. These fish need to either be removed from the ecosystem or their spread halted. Since their discovery in Crofton, Maryland, drastic measures have been taken in the past to rapidly eradicate this species regardless of lasting effects. Most of the previous solutions include dumping large quantities of poison, draining bodies of water, and encouraging fishing. In many cases this has caused bodies of water to be unuseable for extended periods of time. It is for these reasons we would like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of this, Rayner Creese suggest removing native fish, draining when possible, and clearing vegetation, to ensure maximum effectiveness. They also suggest ensuring that there is sufficient poison such that the final amount in the water is enough to kill the fish [1]. The diminishing amounts of poison in the local waterway, by the river flowing, is something that must be carefully considered. The article is promising in that it suggests that the poison flowing down river will be in a low enough concentration so as to not cause much harm. This also suggests that a controlled, continuous release will need to occur to maintain a lethal amount of poison on the targeted portion of the river. Potency of Rotenone on Other Species The Public Library of Science, PLOS, published a research article in 2015 in PLOS|One, which covers experiments done with rotenone and its effect at different concentrations over a period of 18 hours. These people are members of the Department of Zoology and Entomology of Rhodes University, South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity, Centre for Invasion Biology, and Scientific Services Department in South Africa. • 3. The Role Of The Great Power Involvement In The Middle East Introduction The Great Power involvement in the Middle East politics often creates and contributes to more conflicts and wars. The Middle East, a region described by Victor Israelyan as one of sharp confrontation between the two superpowers unavoidably fell victim to such pressures. As forms of involvement, the great powers support each respected ally with weapons, troops and even intelligence report, as demonstrated in 1967 war. History has provided us a lesson about great power involvement in the Middle East. It is that, when superpowers drift away, peace, progress, moderation and stability do not necessarily follow in their position. To understand how their involvement, seem to create more conflicts and wars in the region. It is important to look closely at the great power s incentives to get involved. To elaborate more on the central argument, the paper will start with the heating up of 1956 war of attrition and ends with the explosion of the 1973 Yom Kippur Ramadan war. As evidence to support my claims, I will provide the consequences of each of these wars due to great power intervention. Then, you should expect counter arguments followed by refutations. Lastly, I will conclude my paper with critical analysis. So as unexpected as life is shall death be the same, or can we choose on how we leave this earth. Over the years, the laws and ethical consternation regarding the debatable subject of euthanasia and assisted suicide, have been questioned frequently by society. Though the question may never be answered between euthanasia and assisted suicide being right or wrong, the fact of the matter is that people are still choosing their fate. Whether your for or against euthanasia or assisted suicide, one major part between life and death is the cost of living. The price for End of Life care and life support has skyrocket over the past few years because of technology. Although technology has improved over the years on sustaining life, it has not been proving to cure certain illness, and the cost of certain machines can well but medical bills in the thousands. In the United States alone, millions of people have no medical insurance, and the elderly, the poor and minorities are often denied adequate treatment thats needed. Even doctors are being forced by HMOs to lower the care for patients who can t afford it. Drugs for assisted suicide cost on an average of $75 to $100, which makes them far less expensive than supplying medical care. However, it s the patient that makes the ultimate decision between suffering with disease, or accepting euthanasia/ assisted suicide. A person has the right to die with dignity, and since there is many successful cases of assisted suicide a patient can only feel confident on making a big decision. For example the death of P. • 7. What Is The Purpose Of Electromyography Electromyography and Nerve Conduction Studies An electromyogram (EMG) gauges the electrical activity of muscles at rest and during contraction. Nerve conduction studies (NCS) measure how well and how fast the nerves can send electrical signals. The nervous system is a complex, sophisticated system that regulates and coordinates body activities. It is made up of two major divisions: the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) and the peripheral nervous system (all other neural elements). The brain sends out signals through electrical signals called impulses that control the muscles of the body. Unfortunately, nerve and muscle problems cause the muscles to react in abnormal ways. The purpose of EMG/NCS is to localize where your symptoms are coming from. That can be pain, any kind of numbness and tingling, and/or weakness and the test is also good at assessing the severity of your symptoms. Typically, these studies are ordered when a patient is having some type of nerve symptom: pain, numbness and tingling or a burning sensation, and/or any type of weakness where a person can feel a change in muscle strength. ... Evaluating Scientific Paradigms to Predict the Credibility of Medieval Science Abstract Science is the fundamental backbone to understanding how the world works. From the start of historic civilizations to modern era, science has evolved drastically and continues to change based off of pre existing notions formulated by pre existing notions to those. This cycle of taking ideas that have been previously established and creating new and falsifiable hypotheses revolve around scientific paradigms. These scientific paradigms provide accepted models that give scientists a starting point, per se, for further research and progression beyond that point. Furthermore, referring to the Null Hypothesis attempts to give experimental data meaning. If experimental results cannot prove something false, and correlates with the subject at hand, you would reject the Null Hypothesis . Methods We can test the fallacy of folk magic by executing the following experiment. We hypothesized that, because there are five total cards, each representing one different symbol, the participant will correctly guess five of the twenty five cards, about twenty percent by chance. Below this number says the student has no psychic ability, above says otherwise . To test this hypothesis, we collected data from twenty five different students and correlated the data to folk magic s consistency. We had students draw twenty five cards, one card at a time, and gave them the chance to correctly name each drawn card. Not only did we test the credibility of folk magic, but we conducted a similar experiment with respect to Astrology s fallacy. This area showed a clear pattern of the low tide, mid tide, high tide and splash zone. The area had a variety of rocky shore species which were distributed in a zonation pattern. The two species I have chosen to investigate are the Cellana radians and the Cellana denticulata. Cellana radians commonly known as the Golden/radiate limpet has an outer shell that is smooth and very flat and usually has a darker colour with dark coloured lines. The Cellana radians is found in the lower intertidal zone and the mid intertidal zone and none in the high tide zone at sirens rocks. The Cellana radians are herbivores and feed on microalgae. The Cellana denticulata commonly known as the denticulate limpet has an outer cap shaped shell that tends to have brown lines, this protects their muscular foot, and the Cellana denticulata is an herbivore feeding on microalgae. It is found in the upper lower intertidal zone, mid tide zone and very few in the high tide zone at sirens rock. The Cellana denticulata and the Cellana radians showed that at sirens rocks the community pattern of distribution was zonation. I will also be investigating the adaptations, tolerance levels for abiotic factors for each species and the biotic factors such as their interspecific relationship of competition for food and space on the rocky shore surface relating to their distribution along the rocky shoreline at sirens rocks. ... • 11. Communication Between Nurses And Nurses Essay The hand over process of communication between nurses to nurses is done with the intention of transferring essential information for safe, and patient centered care. Traditionally, this shift report has been done away from the patient s bedside, at the nurse s station, or other place like staff s room. In addition, the shift report used to be delivered through audio recording of the patient s information. These reporting mechanisms did not include face to face reporting of the patient information, nor involvement of patient. Therefore, information regarding the patient s care was not shared with the patient, leaving them out of his/her own care plan. Recent studies and development of Patient Centered Care Philosophy have challenged this belief of giving a report away from the patient. Tan (2015) said, Shift report must not only be restricted in nurse to nurse communication, but it must involve patients as the recipients of care (p. 1). Incorporating the patient into the end of shift report is essential for providing patient centered care and patient satisfaction. Nurses at the St Jude Medical center in the acute in patient rehabilitation unit are not exceptional. Most of the end of the shift report between nurses are still done away from the patient. • 13. The Surveillance Operations of the National Security Agency The United States is founded on the concept of freedom freedom from the control of a government that the people have no participation in or control over and freedom from tyranny. Throughout its history the United States has often been forced to walk a difficult line and since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 that line has become increasingly blurred. The government must take certain actions in order to provide security from those who seek to harm its citizens. But to what extent do the citizens of the United States knowingly authorize the actions that are necessary for their protection, and to what extent are they unaware or even purposefully deluded about the nature of such actions? The leaking of documents by Edward Snowden beginning in June 2013 that revealed the surveillance operations of the National Security Agency, or NSA, drew international attention to the question of what governments can do in the name of protection and what crosses the line into unauthorized spying on citizens. It also drew many comparisons to George Orwell s dystopian classic Nineteen Eighty Four. After careful analysis of the novel it becomes clear that the NSA s actions bear some similarity to the Big Brother of Nineteen Eighty Four, but there are some crucial differences that prevent the United States from becoming the totalitarian society that Orwell warned against. Even though the mass surveillance that the NSA performs is more encompassing than what the Party was capable of, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The Truth In Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven In today s world, the news is constantly shrouded in controversy. Stories of violence and crime are everywhere. Hidden amongst the plethora of articles, there s bound to be a report without a shred of truth in it. As smart as people like to think they are, mistakes in judgement do occur from time to time. A mere glimpse of a shocking headline is enough to throw someone off. Given enough intimidating and persuasive words, it can be quite easy to mislead someone. When a person is overcome with emotion, it can be even more difficult to distinguish what is real or not. Edgar Allan Poe s most prominent poem, The Raven, gives an example. In The Raven, the Raven is not actually real, but rather, it is a manifestation of the speaker s built up vexation; this is relevant to 2017, since people are easily deceived when they are frustrated. The first implication that the Raven is not real is in the beginning of the poem when the bird appears spontaneously. At first, the speaker only hears a tapping at his door. Logically, he assumes that the noise is that of a random visitor. Upon opening the door, however, he sees [darkness] there and nothing more (Poe 24). The speaker returns to his chamber, but the sound continues, this time coming from his window. Instead of finding nothing once more, he is surprised to find a raven fly in and [perch] upon a bust of Pallas just above [his] chamber door (Poe 41). It is hard to explain how the Raven changes its position so quickly. Because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The failed invasion happened under the administration of John F. Kennedy and caused the deaths and imprisonment of over 1500 Cuban exiles fighting to over throw the rule of Fidel Castro. The aftermath caused much larger impacts towards United States foreign policy. The invasion made the United States look imperialistic to the rest of the world and allowed the Soviet Union to portray America as an aggressive and hostile country to its neighbors, which in turn allowed the Soviet Union to aid Cuba even more for future affairs. Only two months after Kennedy took office in 1961 the CIA, specifically Allen Dulles the CIA s director, came to him with the plan to train hundreds of Cuban exiles to invade Cuba and occupy the capitol Havana. This plan was already approved by Kennedy s predecessor Eisenhower. The exiles had already been training in Florida in guerilla warfare for months and over thirteen million dollars had already been allocated for the mission. The plan according to a report by the CIA s director, Allen Dulles, was to bring about the replacement of the Castro regime with one more devoted to the true interests of the Cuban people and more acceptable to the U.S. in such a manner to avoid any appearance of U.S. intervention . It was important at the time that the U.S would not be known behind any attacks on Cuba. One of the main downfalls of the attack was the failure to execute the pre invasion plans. Staple s story about his life experiences of being a man who is feared when walking into a jewelry store seemed different from a woman trying to get pro gun people to switch to knives instead for their safety. From the two stories, I pulled out one thing in my mind that could pull them together as far as their topics go. Ivan says that if you have a knife, you need to be near the person to be able to stab them. Staples says that being seen as dangerous can be a hazard for him. I view this as if someone were to have a gun, and Staples were to turn a corner, would they shoot him out of fear? If they had a knife, they would only being able to stab him if Staples were actually up close to them causing harm. Will having knives help people like Staples not to be harmed just because someone thought he looked harmful? In Black Men and Public Spaces, I think Staples is talking to the people who fear black men, especially in public spaces. When walking down a road at night, it is easy to be afraid of the black man walking your way, and Staples is trying to explain that they are not all dangerous. On the surface the two genres are very different, however if one looks closely at them they are similar in many ways. One important change from traditional western is the cold, the film is set in winter in a cold climate and Beatty goes around bundled up like a bear in a thick fur coat. Altman features the snow and the weather prominently in his film, this is in stark contrast to a traditional western which takes place in a warm state and in which the climate is rarely an issue. Another difference is the way in which Altman peoples his film with realistic characters whose flaws he makes clear to the audience. This is not an idealized west peopled by beautiful looking movie stars, even Beatty, sporting a thick beard, and Christie are willing to look less attractive than usual for their parts. The people who live in Altman s West have had difficult lives. They have poor hygiene and poor social skills. These realistic characters include the workers McCabe uses to build his whorehouse as well as the whores he first brings to town, while Altman treats these people sympathetically and their appearance and actions are realistic it is clear that they are not prime examples of human beauty, intelligence and cleanliness. • 20. Slaves Reaction To The Haitian Revolution The Haitian Revolution is known to be one of the main focal points in the history of slave. It is known for being the biggest and triumphant slave revolution in the Western Hemisphere. The Haitian Revolution was the only revolt that led to the creation of a state free from slavery. Past the struggling, the people of Haiti eventually, after this whole situation, won their independence from the mother country France. This event in American history is crucial to teaching about the lives of slaves and the struggle of slavery. In around 1791, slaves started to defy authority and revolt against the government. These revolts did not stop until early 1804. The Haitian Revolution, nevertheless, was significantly more mind boggling, comprising of a few transformations going on at the same time. Slaves reaction to the French Revolution in a way that sort of jump started the revolution and got it going. Saint Dominigue, which is what Haiti is now known, blossomed with wealth during the 18th century. It simply thrived off of crops such as indigo, sugar, coffee and cotton. The French Revolution played a big part in the slaves just having enough of their rulers. However, by the time the French Revolution started settling down in 1789, there were five particular social classes of people, if you will. It started off with the plantation owners, also known as the white growers, who obviously owned the slaves and the land. The other group was known as petit blancs. They had tasks such as being a craftsman, or as they called it an artisan, a business specialist, and some even became teachers. The petit blancs were free slaves, but some of them eventually had slaves further down their life. Those groups combined equaled to 40,000 people. A considerable lot of the whites on Saint Dominigue started to help a freedom development that started when France forced tariffs on the things brought into the state. The grower did not as France s decision to prohibit trade with another country. In spite of their calls for freedom, both the grower and petit blancs stayed focused on the establishment of servitude. • 21. Spirituality And Religion The terms religion and spirituality can have both similarities and differences. Religion can be explained as a set of beliefs that has structure and is practiced within a group or community. It involves worshipping of superhuman beings, and often contains certain teachings in which its believers/followers abide by and practice in everyday society. Although not all religions incorporate a God , the Catholic Church is centred around the Triune God (God, Jesus, Holy Spirit). Catholic teachings reflect the actions that God/Jesus displayed for the sake of humanity. This story explains how Jesus sent the disciples by ship back to the other side of the Sea of Galilee after they became caught in a wind storm. When the first saw Jesus on the water they were frightened. They believed he was a ghost. Jesus said to them not to be afraid. In the Gospel of Matthew, Peter walked on the water towards Jesus, but doubted himself and began to sink. Jesus reached out and caught him. After Jesus entered the ship, the storm settled, and they arrived at land. Christian teachings consider the story a miracle and displays the importance of faith. Peter didn t believe he could achieve what he set out to do, and ultimately due to this he didn t succeed. This sacred story is another example of how religion provides certain ways to live to benefit yourself and others. This interacts with spirituality as these teachings allow people to develop personally and have a better state of mind. The main symbol evident is the light that appears out of the darkness when Jesus appears on the surface of the water. This symbol represents hope as Jesus has come to rescue them from the storm. The light also appeared as Jesus calmed the storm and so the light would be perceived as a symbol for life and happiness as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the adventure story The Call of the Wild by Jack London, there is a dog named Buck that goes from domesticated in Santa Clara Valley, California to the Klondike during the Yukon gold rush. Buck quickly learns the ways of the North land like the Law of Club and Fang. Not all the dogs and people that Buck traveled with were fit for the Klondike. In the The Call of the Wild the theme of survival of the fittest shines through from the dogs to the people. One of the first ways the theme of survival of the fittest is shown is when one of the dogs on Bucks sled dog team named Curly was attacked by other dogs and killed. On the sled dog s journey they stop to sleep and rest, but one of the times that they stopped they got something they didn t expect. One of the dogs named Curly was really friendly and went over to see the other dogs that weren t on her sled dog s team. Curly then got attacked by dogs that she had never met. But she lay there limp and lifeless in the bloody, trampled snow, almost literally torn to pieces, the Swart half breed standing over her and cursing horribly (London 17). This proves that survival of the fittest was in The Call of the Wild because some dogs just weren t fit for the Klondike. Like Curly and many other dogs and some people were just not fit for the Yukon. Some dogs and people just didn t have the characteristics to survive in the Yukon, some changed their characteristics like Buck did and some like Curly thought that all the dogs were nice like she had known before. When the starving huskies tried to raid Buck s sled teams camp for their food they ended up giving Dolly rabies. Jessica Rose pointed out, The perception of women are either weak victims in a male dominated society or evil and corrupt when in a position of equal or higher status (Prezie). The story of Cinderella has many different versions, from all dissimilar cultures. As we know our Cinderella, the story contains many females. The stepmother, stepsistes, the fairygod mother, and herself. Cinderella only gets her happily ever after due to her natural beuty and being able to stomp over the ones who tried to conceal her. This demonstrates that females compete with each other to have the marital status they want. Cinderella wins, because she pretends to be something she is truly not. • 43. The Grand Nursing Theory Chosen By The Future Apn Is Roy... The grand nursing theory chosen by the future APN is Roy s Model of Adaptation. In 1970, Sister Callista Roy identified the need for conceptual frameworks to be developed in order to have a foundation from which to build nursing knowledge. She developed the Model of Adaptation based on her theory that all patients must adapt to his/her given situations; we as nurses must guide and encourage positive adaptation for our patients (Roy, 1970). Roy s grand theory addressed all four of Fawcett s concepts identified in her meta paradigm of nursing, adding an additional concept, adaptation. Roy referred to the concept of person as man, identifying man as a biopsychosocial being who received a nurse s services. Roy identified the environment as any and all focal, contextual, and residual stimuli (1970). She addressed the concept of health as an aspect of a man s life, lying somewhere along the health sickness continuum (Roy, 1971). In regards to the concept of nursing, Roy identified nursing as a duty that helps and encourages man s response to environmental stimuli (1970). The additional concept, adaptation, was identified by Roy as man s encounter and reply to any given stimuli. This reply can be positive or negative (Roy, 1970). In addressing all the concepts identified by Fawcett as nursing s meta paradigm, Roy strengthened her grand theory s foundation thus adding strength to the foundation of nursing. • 44. Persuasive Essay About Firefighters There are situations that impact your everyday life that s when we call the Firefighters . Their lifestyle is risky, they serve the people. Firefighters truly deserve the respect and honor from the community, at the same time, this is a way of showing gratitude for their courage. The firefighter station that I visited was the fire department in San Fernando called Station 98 , and their agency is Los Angeles Fire Department, it has been around since 1886. The history of fires goes back to the 17th century. They were called, Fire buckets . They came into existence because there was no fireman. Fire buckets were people organizing themselves like a human chain with buckets passing around. There was at least two to three buckets full of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According the agency of the Department of Homeland Security states that motor vehicles crashes are the leading cause of death for an on line duty fireman. Other significant causes of death are: caught/trapped (10%), fall (5%), collapse (3%), and other (7%). Intentions of firefighters are to make the community safe as possible, but we the people need to think twice before we do anything else when dealing with fire. The other things that it s a national problem for firefighters is not wearing their seat belts when driving out to an emergency. They are so focused on saving our lives when first it s supposed to be the opposite, their safety is first, but firemen put their lives at risk. In fact the society make it very dangerous for every fireman, traffic is a major hazard, highways, social media and their lack of sleep. This show an everyday the situation of a fireman because it s been argued that the schedules in the fire department does not fit to the distance that they need to travel from home to work. In that regard, social media is becoming an hinderance when they get film and goes viral to the point that the firefighters personal privacy is exposed in the internet. Firefighters have been exposed more than usual when they are on duty, working or even just being out their work. While exploring into their field they seemed frustrate when every person that use the media to laugh at them when they try to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Statue Of Liberty I will be writing my essay about a painting by Zineb Trifi Sjahsam named America. What is the symbolic meaning of the Statue of Liberty? What is the interpretation of the Constitution? Of course, I learned about the Statue of Liberty and the Constitution in grade school and what it is supposed to mean. But, when we take a step back and look at the world today is freedom what we really see? Now sure, people aren t walking around still referring to their boss as masta or being put into concentration camps because of their beliefs, but sure enough people are being targeted because of their beliefs in different forms now days. I choose this painting because in the mist of the horrible events going on in today s world this painting still tells ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The artist uses the vertical and horizontal line to create a border which focuses the audience attention on the Statue of Liberty. The artist uses implied lines all throughout the painting. The implied lines are not lines at all but actually letters and words used to be lines. vertical and implied lines are both used at the bottom of the Statue of Liberty to communicate the stability of the Statue of Liberty. Irregular lines and directional line are also used in the painting to express freedom and draw the audience attention to different areas of the painting. I believe the simple color of black paint and the tan cannabis resembles the famous tan paper and black ink used to write the constitution. The constitution paper is old and wrinkled the artist used a combination of white and tan brush strokes to create a similar wrinkled paper. In the painting the artist uses shapes by creating a rectangular border around the focal point. Lastly, I believe the artist uses passage of time to remind us of our founding fathers values. • 46. The Government s Political And Economic Tactics Grande was most definitely a practicing Liberation theologian. However, he did not employ Marxists concepts, and while he believed in the importance of political action, he focused on transforming the lives of the poor through Biblical instruction, not political revolution. (Brackley) Grande s sermons were addressed to three audiences: the wealthy class, the government, and the church. He admonished the wealthy in their treatment and disdain of the poor. He challenged them to remember their struggling brothers and provide relief and support when possible. He opposed the government s political and economic tactics that continued to take advantage of the working class, and disapproved of the government s actions against clergy members. ... They would accuse him, the man God ... of being an agitator, of being a Jewish foreigner, who confuses the people with exotic and foreign ideas, anti democratic ideas, and i.e., against the minorities. Ideas against God, because this is a clan of Cain s. Brothers, they would undoubtedly crucify him again. And they have said so. (Grande) The last group to experience Grande s controversial speeches was the church itself. The church in El Salvador had historically united itself with the wealthy of the country, further alienating and devaluing the poor (Status Quo 183). Grande fiercely defended the poor and argued against their maltreatment. He also strongly advocated for social change, which he believed should start with pastoral renewal (Brackley). All in all, Grande was more concerned with imparting Christian principles, and thus while his speeches were built on Liberation theology, his emphasis was on the Bible and its inherent ability to change the situation in El Salvador. In addition to his fiery sermons, Grande fought social oppression by cultivating and nurturing Christian base communities, or Comunidades Eclesiales de Base CEB s (Gospel 147). Grande did this during his evangelical mission work in Aguilares, El Salvador. CEB s developed as priests moved to poorer communities and towns. While there, they lived and worked alongside those suffering from poverty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Comparing the Messages of Animal Dreams and The Bean... Political and Social Messages of Animal Dreams and The Bean Trees Perhaps The Poisonwood Bible is Barbara Kingsolver s best work. It was while reading this book (which centers around The Congo and what the western world has done to this country) that I began to make the connection that all of Kingsolver s books contain a political and social message. She uses her stance as an author to illuminate her readers to situations and issues that she feels are important. Kingsolver s voice can be heard in Animal Dreams when the main character, Codi talks about what happened to her sister, Hallie in Nicaragua, and how unaware Americans were to what was happening in that country. It made the news in Tucson, at least for a day. You ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I wanted to see how much Kingsolver has twisted real life for her stories sakes. While the stories and characters are all spun from Kingsolver s imagination, the political issues she raises are realistic enough to make one wonder if she hasn t taken them straight from news headlines. Because of this, I would like to look into the reality of these issues outside of Kingsolver s novels and compare them to how she presents them fictionally. The second topic I chose to pursue was whether Barbara Kingsolver approaches her writing with an agenda and if so, if that is a good or bad thing. Critics and reviewers alike have characterized Barbara Kingsolver as a political writer and this label is not one that she denies, in fact it seems a badge that she wears rather proudly. In an interview with Donna Perry for her book, Backtalk; Women Writer s Speak Out, Kingsolver gives her reasons why most writers avoid this label: It surprises me constantly that almost everybody else in the United States of America who writes books hates to be called a political writer. As if that demeans them...in the United States art and politics got this divorce in the fifties and there s never been a reconciliation. Artists working in the United States remain, by and large afraid of being labeled political, even though they re no longer afraid that they ll lose their jobs or lose their readership.
