Background: Cut and chip is a phenomena in tires that manifests itself primarily from prolonged
off road use. As the tires are used off road, the tread compound will be cut by rocks and eventually
large pieces of the tread rubber are chipped off. Current tests involve manufacturing a series of test
tires and sending them to a test track in Texas. The tires are then run on a controlled gravel road.
Each set of tires is run for 1000 miles, 500 each day for two days. In each set of 500 miles, 100
miles are on flint rock and 400 miles are on the highway. The tires are then ranked visually by
multiple engineers to determine which rubber compounds demonstrate the best cut and chip
resistance. Thus, current testing is expensive, time intensive, and subjective. Students at Ohio
Northern University therefore built a tester that can use a lab test for tread rubber compounds.
Cooper will be able to save time and money by testing much fewer compounds with the road test.
However, although this tester is a very successful design, the cut and chip lab test using this tester
is a brand new idea that has never been done by any engineers, as we know. Therefore, a summer

Why is is that athlete constantly put themselves through excruciating pain just or game that will
not matter in a year? Why do they continuously push themselves harder and harder just to be on

everything. Athletes struggle and fight to be the best just so they can prove that they are stronger,
faster, and ultimately better than their opponents. Winning gives one a rush that he or she cannot
feel in any other way. For me, this feeling does not come from scoring a goal or making a
touchdown or serving an ace. This feeling of pride and confidence comes from winning a debate
meet. Debate has become a part of my life that has taught me an abundance of valuable lessons. For

Being on the Worland Speech and Debate team, I have had to learn to balance my time between
multiple activities. Debate is the longest season compared to any sport at Worland High School

that I balance my school work, my daily chores, the objectives I have at work, while also making
time for practice. Practice generally starts at four o clock in the afternoon, and gets over no later

Ethical Issues In Omelas By Ursula Le Guin
The story of Omelas presented by Ursula Le Guin provides a simple, yet profound ethical
question. Is the misery of one person worth the ultimate happiness for everyone else? The story
of Omelas describes a city in which there is no guilt. The citizens enjoy life to its fullest,
partaking in pleasures without consequences and not dealing with complex social issues that are
burdensome in other places. There are few laws, no kings, no slaves, and the luxuries in life exist,
as long as they do not cause destruction. On the day of the story, Le Guin describes a summer
festival in which children race horses and everyone frolics through the streets merrily. Anything one

The author describes the arrangement in which the citizens of Omelas have made in exchange
for their city of sublime existence. With whom the agreement is made is irrelevant, but the
terms create the deep ethical dilemma. Within the city, in a basement, there lives a child. The
child is ten years old, and is described as malnourished, underdeveloped, and scared. The child is
in a closet, with dirt floors, and is fed a small amount of cornmeal and water every day. People
come into the closet occasionally, but never speak to the child, as is a strict term of the
agreement. This is the arrangement that allows Omelas to exist in the manner it does. This child
seemingly bears the entire burden of misery for every other citizen in the city. The child is not a
secret. Every citizen upon reaching a certain age is made aware of the child, and because of this,
they are able to achieve the level of happiness, and appreciation for their own lives. The justify the
