The Importance Of Pragmatic Language Processing
as Goodman Stuhlmuller (2013) claim that pragmatic language understanding is a social cognition.
Perhaps the complex systems involved in pragmatic language understanding are modules that
specifically process information about social context, and, it is likely that these interpretation.
Perhaps one might start by searching for data suggesting that semantic processing and pragmatic
processing involve different parts of the brain.
In a series of experiments, Rabagliati, Pylkkanen Marcus (2013) tested linguistic ambiguity
resolution in children compared to adults. They found that children processed language differently
than adults and that children had trouble integrating contextual cues (Rabagliati et al., 2013, p.
1085). And they suggested that this may be because children s executive function abilities are not
fully developed (Rabagliati et al. p. 1085, 2013). This notion is in alignment with previous
research by Khanna and Boland (2010) who studied lexical ambiguity resolution in 7 to 10 year old
s and in adults. They found that those who had more fully developed executive function abilities
also were more sensitive to context in their lexical interpretation (Khanna Boland, 2010).
These results are starting to paint a picture that the structures for analyzing and interpreting syntax
and semantics may be different than the structures that are involved in a pragmatic interpretation.
One might hypothesize that the modules for strict semantic understanding are in

Truman Capote s The Cold Blood
Truman Capote s In Cold Blood is a stupendously written book, regularly acclaimed for it s
unparalleled style. As needs be, readers mustn t look exceptionally far before they discover a
surplus of rhetoric. Capote is regularly credited with having made the first crime novel, and he
didn t get this praise by composing such as others. He utilized his fascinating composition style to
make his readers feel as if they were really in the book, rather than preserving the barrier between
the reader and the page. He permitted them to get inside the character s heads and truly know
them, seeing flickers into the character s pasts while, likewise, foretelling events to come. He wrote
with a very, for the time, eccentric style, but also one that ended up being incredibly powerful.
Capote was genuinely a craftsman with his words. His utilization of imagery throughout makes the
reader feel as if they are truly in Kansas, Nevada, Mexico or wherever else Capote put them. This
is evident as Capote paints the image, Mountains. A hawk wheeling in a white sky. A dusty road
winding into and out of a white and dusty village, (107) which permit the reader to feel like they,
themselves, are in Mexico. Capote rehashes the same technique merely a page after, emphasizing
the cruciality of the scene. At that point, Capote portrays Richard Hickock s cold, oily tortilla
leaving a greasy taste in the reader s mouth. Capote s capacity to paint an image out of words was
significant to In

Dangers Of Underage Drinking
Have you wondered why your health has been declining at a young age? Well perhaps the
answers could lie in underage drinking. Teenagers should not be allowed to drink alcohol because
it can cause health problems, behavior issues, and can cause brain damage. Many teenagers
continue to drink even though it is harmful to your health in so many ways. Some get sick and can
even die from excessive drinking.
One negative effect on Underage drinking is that it has an adverse effect on the development of
memory. A discovery was found that youngsters dependent on alcoholwas surely to have poor short
term memory. It has a negative effect on the person s thinking, planning skills, memory and more.

Michael Jackson s Influence On Pop Culture
Albert Einstein, Robin Williams, Shakespeare, every one of the people have greatly influenced the
world today. Among the list of extremely influential people lies, Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson
was born in 1958 in Gary, Indiana. Jackson was a man of many talents, an entertainer, a
philosopher, a recording artist, and the list goes on. With his extravagant personal life, his
contribution to music and fashion, and his widely known dance moves/skills, he turned out to be
the most influential person in popular culture for over forty years. Throughout his life, Michael
Jacksonheavily influenced today s top artists, the technological realm of music videos and the TV
industry, and heavily impacted charities.
Michael Jackson first truly emerged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first and most evident Jackson follower was Usher. For many years, Usher has been
depicted as the next Michael Jackson (Montgomery). Similarly to Michael Jackson s Thriller,
Usher s album, Confessions, contains an abundance of styles. Starting with an intense classic,
and ending with a deep, raw ballad. Like Jackson, Usher used his musical talent to move beyond
simple pop balladry and develop a pure, singular artistic vision (Keyes). Usher himself states, I
wouldn t be who I am today without Michael Jackson. Although Jackson s influence on pop
music artists was far more evident, one can still see his influence in hip hop artists such as,
Kanye West. Kanye portrays the superstar ambition, which is the desire to accomplish
everything bigger and better than anyone and everyone and the power to bring one unified
vision to a mass of people, that Jackson portrayed as well. Additionally, Justin Timberlake was
greatly influenced by Michael Jackson. Just like Michael, Timberlake outgrew the band he
started with and launched his solo career. Timberlake kick started his career with a music video
that was undeniably similar to Michael Jackson s video with the choreography to the costuming.
Another famous pop singer that uses Michael Jackson s methods is, Katy Perry. Jackson and
Katy Perry have been some of the only musicians to be able to oscillate between universal
anthems and personal ballads (Beaumont Thomas). Finally, considerably most influenced by
Michael Jackson is, Chris Brown. From his seemingly impossible dance skills to his Michael
Jackson inspired fedoras, Chris Brown dedicates almost his entire style for singing, dancing, and
fashion to his idol, Michael Jackson. Brown himself states, Michael Jackson is the reason why I do
music and why I am an entertainer. Although Michael Jackson died over seven years ago, he still

The making of a skateboard
Essay
Introduction
As an extreme sports lover and artist, I decided to make something that represents me as the
person that I am, so I thought, making a skateboard would be a good idea. I had to think a lot
about what shape I was going to do, because most of the shapes I thought of were already made
or just boring. One of my first thoughts was making a longboard but the process would have been
complicated or too complex to make. So after a long period of time I finally came up with the idea
to create a board with the unique shape of a fishtail.
Area of interaction
With this project I am trying to get people more interested in how skateboarding and the way of
making a skateboard works. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I luckily ordered wheels which are one size smaller so they wouldn t touch the wood as much as
the ones I was trying out before. Once the wheels I ordered had arrived I screwed them on, but
they were still touching the wood, but I had a spare spacer which is a piece of plastic to put
between the deck and the trucks so now the wheels don t touch the board anymore.
Reflection
Now that I am done with my project, I have learned that I should learn how to manage my time
better, because I did everything in the last few weeks even though I have had about four to five
months to work on it. For my next big project I will start preparing and organizing my essay once
I would be told about the task so I can work through out the weeks, to not finish it under time
pressure.
I am happy with my result as in my opinion I really have succeeded with the aim I had. There are a
couple of things to improve if I had done this project again. I should have been more accurate with
the planning of the deck as I could have actually done the whole process by myself so I won t have
to use an already pressed and shaped skateboard. I

Essay about Solar Energy and Storage
1. Introduction
As fast increase in energy depletion is nearly related to an increase in a population, people face
several environmental problems such as decreasing energy resources, global climate change and
greenhouse emission. The integrated systems for combined generation of useful outputs are
spreading around the world fast, since they offer diverse advantages, such as higher efficiency, low
operating cost. Energy application choices are restricted by thermodynamic principles.
Comprehension of exergy application methods can help identifying. An integrated system energy
manufacture process refers to a system more than three different purposes, including electricity,
cooling, heating, hot water, fresh water, hydrogen, oxygen and air,... Show more content on

Al Sulaiman et.al [Exergy modeling of a new solar driven trigeneration system] have used exergy
modeling in order to evaluate the exergetic performance of a novel trigeneration system utilizing
parabolic trough solar collector (PTSC).
Solar PDCs concentrate solar radiation to a single focal point by means of one or more parabolic
dishes. PDCs have concentration ratios in the range of 600 2000. As a result, they are rather
efficient at thermal energy absorption and power conversion processes. Thus, PDC is selected to be
the prime mover for the integrated system in this study.
Absorption chillers can make use of renewable energy resources, such as solar, geothermal and
biomass, in order to generate cooling. The other benefits of absorption refrigeration systems are
that they do not cause ozone layer retrenchment, they make use of natural refrigerants possibly
having less CO2 emissions and they are independent of electric grids. The most common
commercially suitable absorption refrigeration systems are single and double effect systems. In
double effect absorption refrigeration systems, a secondary fluid (absorbent) is used to circulate
and to absorb the primary fluid (refrigerant). The success of the absorption relies on the selection of
an appropriate combination of absorbent and refrigerant. The most widespread absorbent and
refrigerant combinations in absorption refrigeration systems have

be defined as two or more freely interacting individuals who share collective norms and have a
common identity (Kreitner, Kinicki, Cole, 2007). The team process is an important factor which
helps the team to attain success. The team process plays three critical roles which are: converts the
team s charter and work plan into actions, influences individuals and team behaviors and helps to
reveal the intent behind behaviors (Wong, 2010). Therefore team process is an activity when team
is performing tasks to attain the team goals. For example in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The team process happens in all the stages of team development and helps the team members to
complete their tasks in an effective way (Engleberg Wynn, 2012) Five Stages of Team
Development The team development takes place in five stages. Bruce Tuckman had conducted
research on various teams and given the five stages of team development. The team process can
be observed in all the five stages of team development. The five stages of Tuckman are: 1.
Forming: The forming stage of development is a period of orientation and getting acquainted.
Members break the ice and test one another for friendship possibilities and task orientation.
Uncertainty is high during this stage, and members usually accept whatever power or authority
is offered by either formal or informal leaders. During this initial stage, members are concerned
about such things as What is expected of me? What behavior is acceptable? Will I fit in? During
the forming stage, the team leader should provide time for members to get acquainted with one
another and encourage them to engage in informal social discussions (Engleberg Wynn, 2012). 2.
Storming: During the storming stage, individual personalities emerge. People become more
assertive in clarifying their roles and what is expected of them. This stage is marked by conflict
and disagreement. People may disagree over their perceptions of the team s goals or how to
achieve them. Members may jockey for position, and

The Federal Bureau Of Investigations
Matt Fox Mr. Huggins U.S. History 21 November, 2014 The FBI The Federal Bureau of
Investigations was initially a group of secret agents created in 1908 by Attorney General
Charles Bonaparte. Bonaparte created the FBI under direction of 26th president, Theodore
Roosevelt. For the first couple of years, the amount of federal crimes was very low. The Bureau
spent most of their time investigating things such as national banking, bankruptcy,
naturalization, antitrust, peonage, and land fraud. In June of 1910, the FBI grew larger
because the Mann Act. The Mann Act made it a crime to transport women to other states for
immoral reasons such as what would be labeled as prostitution in modern terms. The FBI could
now prosecute people who tried to flee over states lines. Because of its continued worth and
effectiveness, the FBI s number grew to over 300 special agents and 300 support employees
over the next few years. (FBI. FBI, 08 May 2013. Web. 02 Nov. 2014) When The FBI first
started, it required little to know specific training. However, it was a group of undercover agents
at the time so there weren t very many kids who wanted to grow up and become something that
they have never even heard about. Today, however, there are a series of long and challenging
tests to become an FBI Agent. In order to qualify for the FBI s Academy in Quantico, Virginia,

Women In Poverty In The United States
In the United States today, women are far more likely than men to have lived below the poverty
line at some point in their lives. One in seven women are living in poverty today, with the
number hovering right around 14.7% compared to 10.9% of men (NWLC, 2015). It is
undeniable that that is a serious wage gap in the United States with women making cents to
every dollar that a man makes for the same work, and on top of that women are often working
lower paying pink collar jobs in the first place; for women of color, wages are even lower.
Compound these problems with factors such as domestic violence, children, and lack of healthcare
and you can begin to see how dire of a situation women living below the povertyline find
themselves in. As an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Childcare would be a main concern, and affordable or even free childcare would be offered for
the residents children. This would allow for women to work outside of the home or go to school
without the added stress of worrying where there children are, who is taking care of them, and how
much that care is costing them. Childcare would also be beneficial to the children by giving them
structure and stability throughout their daily lives, something many of these children would be
lacking. Apart from childcare, the centers would also offer resources and programs such as GED
courses, job training, personal finance courses (for managing money, checkbooks, etc.), and even
low cost health care. GED courses are important for many women and could be instrumental in
allowing that woman to find a better job and eventually bettering her socioeconomic standing;
with education comes mobility, and women so desperately need some upward mobility to rise out
of poverty. Job training would also help address the lack of mobility that many women have.
Through job training programs, women could gain crucial skills such as how to dress and present
themselves during their job hunt and how to create a rГ©sumГ©, all of which could be helpful in
finding a better paying, non pink collar

Tony Montana is a very vulgar person, able to drop any manner of language that can offend a
person. Arrogant, violent and very frank, assuring to Sosa that the only thing he has in this
world is his word and his balls . Tony is the survivor that has no qualms on killing other people if
it can guarantee money and food. His ruthlessness will eventually land him a position in Frank
Lopez s drug cartel and will steadily make a name in the Miami underworld. He also developed a

character, and seems to embody the ice queen trope, though defrosting her will not do anything,
she is just cold to strangers. It is not known if she has any inner desire to make peace with her
habits, as she evidently sad at the life she is leading.
C.Comparison
The film has a notable distinction in its characters. The Godfather has the honor of having a more
refined set of characters in regards of execution and the distribution of traits, in comparison.
Scarface has characters that are spread thin, with the few having the most concentration of traits.
Tony, Manny, Gina, Elvira and Sosa are the only notable characters that have concentrated traits.
Michael and Tony s personalities are polar opposites. Michael is a law abiding citizen, aspiring
to live a normal life with his girlfriend, Kay. He was only dragged into family affairs after the
attempted hit on his father, Vito. He still strives to be normal even when he is now a criminal
yet the sequels suggest he failed. Tony is readily a criminal, since his background is easily
identified. He was keen on living the American Dream in any way possible. He dealt with drugs,
killed people and started to use his own products. A wise criminal once said that it was bad to use

Teagle 170 P.3d 266 (Ariz. Ct. App. 2007), defendant Teagle was pulled over after being
observed speeding down the highway. When the officer approached the vehicle, he noticed two
cellular phones on the dashboard, an open container of liquor, fast food wrappers, a box of
cookies, a map, and luggage and clothing in the backseat. The officer gave the defendant a
warning and then asked him if there was any contraband in the vehicle or whether there was a
chance anyone else could have placed any contraband in the vehicle. Although the defendant
answered in the negative, the officer returned to his patrol vehicle and asked if there was a canine
unit available. There was not and so the officer told the defendant that he was free to leave.
Shortly afterwards, the officer saw the defendant speeding once again down the road. The officer
proceeded to pull him over and gave him another warning. The officer again asked him if he could
search the vehicle and the defendant answered in the affirmative. The officer called a canine unit
which arrived an hour later. The canine, in proceeding to do an exterior sniff, circled around to the
trunk. The officers then opened the trunk to find 338 pounds of marijuana, a can of air freshener
under the driver s seat and several toilet bowl sanitizers in the compartment ofthe vehicle as well as
the trunk. These were all indicative of an attempt to mask the smell of marijuana. At trial, the
defendant argued that he had taken his vehicle to a repair shop, implying that someone else had
placed the drugs in the car. The court found that there was enough evidence, including the large
amount of drugs in the trunk of the vehicle, the air freshener, and the inconsistent statements to
determine that the defendant had sufficient knowledge of the marijuana in the

History And Traditions Of Ancient Egypt
The history and traditions of a people can be reflected in its compositions because the writing
often preserves the values, concerns, and characteristics of the era. While the canonical literature
of a civilization often reflects the most highly prized attributes of the society, more typical pieces
of writing tend to offer a unique and realistic perspective on the civilization s lifestyle. A
collection of ancient Egyptian love poems written by average citizens was uncovered in Deir el
Medina and, like all other works of literature, within the writing, there are details indicative of their
values. Because of their special nature, the poems offer an alternative viewpoint to the experiences
of commoners. The love reflected in the poetry of ordinary ancient Egyptians was affected by their
society s customs, family, and religion.
The social mores of ancient Egypt influenced love as indicated in the poetry. In I Devised to Drink
in Her Beauty, a common man is travelling to his lover but encounters Mehy, a well known and
fearsome warrior. Mehy is representative of ancient Egyptian traditions and obligations and so,
upon his encounter, the lover attempts to avoid the warrior. The power and influence that Mehy
retains, as illustrated by him being in his chariot, causes the boy to want to hide his wanton desires.
This reflects the social stigma attached to being in love in ancient Egyptian society. While in self
conflict, he considers crossing the Nile river. In ancient Egypt, the

The Multi Store Model And The Working Memory Model
Memory is our ability to encode, store, retain and subsequently recall information and past
experiences in the human brain (Luke Mastin,2010). In this review I am going to focus on the multi
store model and the working memory model, which explain in detail how memory works.
The multi store model (MSM) of memory by Atkinson and Shiffrin (1968), explains that the
memory is made up of three different stores. These are: sensory memory (SM), short term
memory(STM) and long term memory(LTM). This model explains how each store works in terms
of encoding, duration and capacity.
The SM obtains the information from environmental stimuli through our five senses which are
touch, sight, smell, taste and sound. In SM the encoding is either visual, auditory or haptic; duration
is Вј to ВЅ seconds and the capacity is all sensory experience(McLeod S.A,2007). Attention is
essential for the information to transfer to the STM, otherwise it is lost through decay. The
information in the STM is mostly encoded acoustically. The diagram below shows us how the
information is transferred from one store to another.
According to Miller s Magic number 7 (1956) most adults can store from 5 to 9 items, therefore
STM is known to have a capacity of 7+/ 2 items and a duration of up to 18 seconds. The
information in this store can be lost through displacement which is replacing the old information
with new ones or forgetting it (decay). There are two types of rehearsals. Maintenance rehearsal is
not effective

The University Of Southern Mississippi
Please accept this personal statement as a part of my application for the doctoral program in
criminal justice starting the fall semester of 2016. The University of Southern Mississippi is my
ideal location for the achievement of a doctoral degree. I would like to demonstrate my knowledge,
experience, and research ability in the field of criminal justiceand correctional studies. Having
majored in the discipline as a former graduate student, I want to further my education to assist and
promote future changes in criminal justice and correctional policy. I am looking forward to the
opportunities your program has to offer and I believe my background and perspective in criminal
justice will help enrich the program, as well.
A wide range of diversity in the field of criminal justice studies is of great importance. As a
second year graduate student, I was given an opportunity to work closely with U.S Probation and
Pretrial Services as an intern. This internship allowed me to further my knowledge in correctional
studies and provided the necessary resources to complete my master s thesis. I was also exposed
to various policies and procedures pertaining to probation practices while gaining a vast amount of
knowledge assisting with investigations, liaisons between state and local agencies, and the
intricacies of offender case management. Furthermore, I was able to form close relationships with
employees of the agency who have assisted in my current career endeavors.

Plum Point Park Essay
Issue Proposition Plum Point Park was once a place for sprouted overgrown weeds and rotting
piers. Through initiative and optimism, West Ghent Civic League proposed to transition the
bleak plot of land into a permanent park in the early 1990 s. 10 years and $1.5 million later, the
park is now considered an open natural refuge for local residents and home for various wildlife
living along the Elizabeth River. Granted Plum Point Park is an artificial park, there is still a lot of
potentials that the park can amount to. Due to the lack of green spaces and aesthetically appealing
areas throughout the park, the scenery can become very monotonous. In August of 2016, Global
Shapers Norfolk(GSN) produced a final report, titled #WeAre757Millenials, based on responses

made aware of what had happened to her husband, Louis went up stairs to let what had occurred

The way she took to her husband s death was very different compared to the way other wives
would have taken to the loss of their husbands. The mixed emotions she goes through shows the
kind of character she truly was, which would be a woman whose past has troubled her so much,
that selfish thoughts are beginning to arise in the her train of thoughts. Mrs. Millard s way of
showing emotion in a way showed that her relationship might not have been all that great, maybe
people don t know the whole story. Mrs. Mallard gave off the vibe that she was better off without
him, but at the same time she wasn t ok. With a weak heart and her husband gone, her family
couldn t help but watch Mrs. Mallard the whole time she had received the news to make sure
she wasn t going to suffer from severe heart problems. Mrs. Mallard sitting down in an arm chair
symbolizes that she has faced the realization that her husband is truly gone and there is no way
of bringing him back to her. She then realized that it was time to figure out what was to come

Electroconvulsive Therapy Argumentative Essay
Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), formerly known as electroshock therapy, is a treatment for
mental illnesses that runs small electric currents through the brain, with the intention of bringing
on a brief seizure. The goal is to change brain chemistry to reverse symptoms of certain mental
illnesses. During the 1940s 50s, ECT was the most effective way of treating certain mental
illnesses and was used frequently throughout many countries (Kendell, 1982). One of the main
illnesses ECT is used for is depression, but it is also used for other mental illnesses, such as mania
and some cases of schizophrenia. Patients undergo ECT about three times a week, totaling six to
twelve sessions. This is an important topic to research because ECT is known to... Show more

Although ECT is shown to be effective, it does not always mean that is a safe form of treatment. If
ECT causes patients to have severe brain damage and cognitive deficits, it would be considered
unethical to use, regardless if it an effective form of treatment for certain mental illnesses
(Reisner, 2003). There are limitations to ECT that doctors need to be aware of, such as patients
having existing medical conditions that could counteract with ECT treatment and cause damage to
the patient. Informed consent is an important process in undergoing ECT, it should let the patient
know all of the risks and all of the benefits of ECT. Many have suggested that although the risk of
brain damage is reported to be low, it is still an important deciding factor for a patient who is
eligible for undergoing ECT. Informed consent should include risks, benefits, acknowledge post
treatment risks and confusion, the possibility or uncertain effects of the treatment, as well as
alternative options (Reisner, 2003). Because a risk of a treatment is not always certain, it should
still be required to inform a patient of the possible effects of the treatment they are undergoing, due
to the minimal possibility that brain damage or death could still

Complications of IVF
About 16% of heterosexual couples ages 18 44 are experiencing infertility. Indeed, it is seen in
previous studies that the older the woman the higher the rate of infertility, but recent studies
have indicated that couples ages 19 29 the rate of infertility has increased in a range from 7% to
13.7%. In addition, infertility is defined as the inability to conceive after a whole year of
intercourse without the use of contraception. Infertility has a very high emotional impact on
couples. According to Sher, Davis and Stoess (2005) When asked what they considered to be a
primary problem in their lives, almost 80 percent of the couples replied that it was their inability
to conceive. It usually causes emotional pain amongst couples. Some methods usually used to treat
infertility include counseling, surgery to repair any anatomical damage and drugs to help with
ovulation and sperm function. (Sher et al., 2005)The last poplar method usually used in North
America is known as in vitro fertilization (IVF). IVF is a process whereas the egg(s) are fertilized
outside of a woman s body. When the procedure is successful, the zygote(s) are placed in the
uterus. IVF does have its advantages for woman under the maternal age but it also has a serious risk
associated with going through with the process. IVF increases the chance of multiple births,
ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome and ectopic pregnancy. Multiple births is a result of more than
one zygote being present in a woman s uterus

Film Analysis Of The Film The Scarlett Letter
The Scarlett Letter 1995 Film Analysis
The Scarlett Letter, is about a young mistress named Hester Prynne. In 1666, after moving to the
Massachusetts Bay Colony from England to await her husbands arrival, Hester beings to fall in
love with the town s pastor, Arthur Dimmesdale. Roger Prynne, Hester s husband, and all other
passengers of an English ship are presumed dead in the aftermath of an attack. After she and
Arthur consummate their love, Hester finds herself pregnant. Hester soon becomes the subject
of idle gossip among the colonists after she shares her radical thoughts and views on the Bible
and the Puritan way of life. Two of the other mistresses in the colony also witnessed Hester
become ill on two separate occasions during the morning hours, so she is called to appear before
the Elders of the colony to be accused of Heresy, Fornication, and Adultery. Hester is then
arrested and imprisoned for her indiscretion. On the day of giving birth to her bastard child,
Pearl, Hester is humiliated in front of the entire town and made to wear a red A for adulterer on
her chest and to also followed around by a drummer boy that bangs his drum wherever she goes in
public. Roger Prynne resurfaces and was never actually killed by the Indians, but was captured and
held prisoner. After learning about the scandal of his wife, Roger joins the colony under an alias,
Dr. Roger Chillingworth . Roger eventually scalps and kills a male colonist that he thought was
Arthur, and blames the murder on the Algonquian Indians, which prompts the declaration of war on
the Indians by the colonists. Roger commits suicide for his wrong doings, Hester and Arthur
abandon the Massachusetts Bay Colony, and the scarlet letter to set out for Carolina to start a new
life. I do believe that The Scarlett Letter is historically accurate. I think the writers and directors
accurately communicated the sense of historic time and place, it really felt like I left the 21st
century and stepped back in time. There are several pieces of evidence within the film that are
historically accurate. In one of the first scenes of the film, the narrator describes Hester Prynne as
she comes from England to the New World, My name is Pearl. This is the story

Ancient Roman Times Research Paper
Reading in the ancient roman times was different and similar from reading in the US today. The
ancient romans read from scrolls made out of sheets of papyrus or wooden tablets covered with
wax. We read from stacks of printed paper fastened together at one side. But there are also
similarities between the two. The first difference between reading in the ancient roman times and
reading in the US today is that the ancient romans would have public reading sessions. Public
reading became the central pillar of Roman literary life. People would recite epics, tragedies,
comedies, and lyrics, but mostly poetry. They d regale crowds, at dinner parties, in plazas/forums,
and during the Games (gladiator fights, fights between animals). This lust for readings did, at least,
begin with a love of words.
To the romans, reciting one s own words was self promoting and egotistical. It was only acceptable
to read the works of dead authors. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

John Harwood Hick was born on 20th January, 1922 to Aileen Hick and Mark Hick in
Scarborough, England. Hick s ancestors were owners of successful shipping firm. However, his
grandfather abandoned the shipping business to become an attorney. John Hick was arguably
among the most influential and important philosophers of religion of the 2nd half of the 20th
century. It is worth noting that as a British Philosophical thinker in the Anglo analytic tradition,
John Hick did ground breaking work in philosophical theology, religious pluralism and religious
epistemology (Hick and Sharma 89).
As a young student of law, John Hick went through a strong religious experience which led him to
accept the evangelical Christianity and to alter the direction of his career to philosophy and
theology. At the beginning of his career, john Hick argued that the Christian faith is mainly based
on religious experience rather than propositional evidence. Therefore, he defended Christianity faith
against criticisms by evidentialist, who were by then dominant logical positivists ( Professor John
Hick Telegraph ). The most influential works by John Hick include: Evil and the Godof Love; A
Christian Theology of Religions; An Interpretation of Religion; and many others

One year my uncle bought me a game named Shadow of the Colossus. This game was completely
different from the other ones I played previously. In this game, the player starts out with the
character on a horse and his only weapon is a powerful sword, that when exposed to sunlight
will lead the player in the general direction of the next enemy. These enemies are giant, ancient
creatures that roam in various places around the world, each one having unique weaknesses and
strengths. To find the Colossus, the player had to ride across the landscape in solitude,
identifying small clues that would lead them to where the creature was hiding. Once the player
arrived, they would have to evaluate the situation and find its weaknesses. When the player
decided that they were ready to attack something unexpected always came up and made the
situation even more difficult than expected resulting in quick and accurate decision making. To
me, this game is a prime example of how video games aid in the development of the decision
making process. Throughout this game players were presented with problems that required them
to think very critically in order to even finish the first battle. As the game progresses the enemies
only get harder and the solutions to the problems get harder as well. Attention to detail in this
game was very important. The more that this game was played, the more I started to look into
every possible approach and the very fine details. Games like

Proposed Comprehensive Immigration Reform In The United...
Immigration reform is a term used in political discussion regarding changes to current immigration
policy of a country. In its strict definition, reform means to change into an improved form or
condition, by amending or removing faults or abuses. In the political sense, immigration reform
may include promoted, expanded, or open immigration, as well as reduced or eliminated
immigration.
Immigration reform in the United States of America is a term widely used to describe proposals to
maintain or increase legal immigration while decreasing illegal immigration, such as the guest
worker proposal supported by President George W. Bush, and the Border Security, Economic
Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization or Gang of Eight bill which passed the U.S. Senate
in June 2013. Illegal immigration is a controversial issue in the United States. Proponents of greater
immigration enforcement argue that illegal immigrants tarnish the public image of immigrants,
cost taxpayers an estimated $338.3 billion, and jeopardize the safety of law enforcement officials
and citizens, especially along the Mexican border. Since early 2013, the term immigration ... Show

Essay On When Cutting Access To Health Care

There has been little progress on funding research programs that aim at necessitating on preventive
measures in preventing the chronic diseases. Most are sponsored by private organizations that
promote healthcare. Therefore, there is the need for a change in the budget to promote good health
of the citizens.
Impacts on the Possible Amendment of the Constitution I believe amending the constitution so
that it meets a balanced federal budget would bring positive effects. For instance, it would help
in solving the persistent problem of the increasing deficits and federal debt. Otherwise, the future
generation would suffer the repercussions since they would have to take part in paying the debt.
This could also limit the chances of the future policymakers to engage in corrupt malpractices
and irresponsible fiscal policies which would instead ensure that there is accountability. The
federal government would also be forced to take quick actions to respond to emergencies and
economic recessions (Brazier, et al., 2017). I also believe that the opposing parties would have to
comply with the passed legislation to meet the Constitution s requirement. However, the only set
back in my view would be the political pressure that would be exerted on the lawmakers especially
the opponents. They would be forced to gimmick the budget to meet the balanced expectation. This
would make them work because the law requires them to do so and not because of their willingness

It is difficult for the witness to recall the details of the time, speed, and distance for a car accident,
therefore in 1974 a group of experimenters from University of Washington conducted two related
experiments based on this issue (Loftus Plamer, 1974). First, they questioned whether the changing
verb in a questionabout speed would effect people s estimation adding on to the first question they
asked does the leading question produces a demand characteristic or the question actually causes a

one week, the participants returned and without re watching the film they were asked to fill out
series of a questionnaire, and among these questions, the critical question is did you see any
broken glass? The participants were asked to answer either yes or no (Loftus Plamer, 1974). In this
experiment, the verb in the critical question is the independent variable and the answer of broken is
the dependent variable.
As the result of the experiment, it appears there is an effect of the verb in estimating whether there
is a broken glass or not. Experimenters explained that when two pieces of information are
integrated, the subject has a memory of an accident that will be more severe than in fact it was
(Loftus Plamer, 1974).

Creation And The Persistence Of Evil By Levenson
In Creation and the Persistence of Evil , Levenson asserts that God s divine omnipotence
originates from his battle with rather than banishment of evil. There are a few textual facts to
consider in analysis of this statement. In an initial class discussion, we examined the fact that
God did not create evil. He created what was and what had the potential to be good (e.g. light,
man), separating it from what is deemed as evil (e.g. darkness). For instance, he did not create the
tree of knowledge of good and evil, but instead drew boundaries. Yet this concept from Genesis
conflicts with one that arises in Psalms 104:26. This verse states that Godcreated the Leviathan, a

in a happy environment. This is shown through different shots and techniques such as; a medium
shot showing Daytone riding the horse; a close up on Bambi s face to show his facial expressions
and actors performance; lighting and colour ; and a long shotto show Bambi paying the man who
owned the horse, money for the horse ride. All these help to show happiness in Bambi and Daytone.
Malik Booth uses a medium shot to show happiness. Happiness is shown on Daytone s face
when he is seen riding the horse. The medium shot shows Daytone with a big grin on his face,
brightening up his whole face while sitting on top of the horse. Earlier in the film, we see
Daytone playing with a toy horse, which normally means he likes it. He also doesn t recognize
Bambi which means that Day didn t know his own father. But now Day stays with his father and
having him ride an actual horse is like a big present that is given to us on our birthday or
Christmas. Which normally feels exciting and ecstatic. For Bambi to give this gift to Daytone
which symbolizes the horse, shows the audience how much he cares for him and that he shows it
through this scene.
Malik also uses a close up shot on Bambi s face to show

The Controversy Between Pro-Life And Pro Life
The issue of Abortions has been a controversy for years now. There are two main groups for this
problem, Pro Life, and Pro Choice. Pro Life supports the human rights of life should be
embraced, by religion and ethics. Pro choice is when someone wants to make this choice
without no remorse of human life, but because someone wants no part of it raising one. First up
for discussion is the root of a problem is a feminist. A feminist is the Pro choice in abortions,
meaning that one believes that is the woman s choice and right to have. Also, a feminist is
someone who believes that a woman should not mess up her body and should be worrying about
her health. Pro choice believes that a fetus does not have any right to life until twenty four weeks
(Gupta, 2014). For example, someone that the writer know has had four abortions and told her
that she was not able to have another child because of having so many procedures done. Next up
for discussion the pro life. The pro life comes from those with religion; these individuals believe
that aborting something or someone is a sin. The writer thought and understood as well, that this is
an endangerment not just for the health of someone doing so, but anyone who wants a child later

The two groups have always been one of the main controversies in the world today. Pro life deals
with religion and pro choice is when a woman has her choice of what to do with herself.
Nevertheless, the approach that the writer has chosen will have a better strategy for women today,
instead of what others may think. The approach will also be better by talking to these women and
young adults before even doing the procedure, meaning most of these procedures are not
successful. To conclude, if on would want children in the future may not be able to have or carry a
child, compared to those who had a successful

Coercive Power And Its Effects On Society
In terms of social sciences and politics, power is the ability to influence or outright control people s
behavior. Power may be viewed as evil or unjust, but the exercise of power is generally accepted as
pervasive to humans as social beings. Never the less, power comes in many forms and each form
has its own implications. One of these forms is coercion, and it is usually called Coercive Power .
Coercive power termed as the ability to create fear in people with the possibility of inflicting pain
or punishment. People react to this power out of a fear of negative results or repercussions that
may occur if they fail to comply. Coercive power depends on the application, or threat, of physical
sanctions as inflicting pain, restriction of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A large part of organizational behavior could be explained in terms of coercive power rather
than reward power. In a 1959 study, social psychologists John R. P. French and Bertram Raven
developed a schema of sources of power in order to analyze how power plays function, or fail, in
specific relationships. According to them, the concept of power is fundamentally relative,
depending on specific understandings developed into relationships, and recognition of a quality
that motivates the influence of the power holder, and carries out his or her intentions via the
affected. It was French and Raven, who argued and established five significant categories of
power, in addition to other minor categories. Coercive power is among the five significant
categories, and the duo has noted that coercive power tends to be the most obvious, but at the
same time least effective form of power. This, according to them, is because coercive power
builds resentment and resistance from the people who are subjected to it. As threats,
punishments and force are common means of exerting coercive power, relying on this type of
power can result in a deficient leadership style. When viewed in a political context, coercive
power is applied, and even tolerable, when applied with the justification of social and legal norms.
It can also be tolerated when the leadership group is viewed as successful.
Coercive methods are

Libraries Are The Center Of Academic Life
University libraries are the center of academic life. Undergraduates spend most of their time in the
library: studying, researching, collaborating with other students and hanging out with friends. It is
important that students have a place that they feel comfortable in. Undergraduates students
consider the librarythe most important place during their four years of study. The relationship
between the library and students has been investigated by many librarians and information
professionals from different perspectives. Scholars have researched if there is a direct correlation
between library services and students success rates. Some of the questions librarians and
information professionals have asked are: are the library services and programs adequately
supporting students academic needs? (Zhong Alexander, 2007). Are library programs supporting
faculties learning objectives and enhancing students learning?(Zhong Alexander, 2007). Do library
services (interlibrary loan, course reserves, group study rooms, and library workshops) support
students academic and professional needs? (Zhong Alexander, 2007). Is there a direct correlation?
What is the impact? (Emmons Wilkinson, 2011). What programs and services directly assist
students academically? (Mix, 2013). To what degree is students academic success a result of
library services and programs? (Mix, 2013).These are a few questions that are currently being
investigated. Moreover, many universities have incorporated an

Nigeria s Strong Economic Track Record Burden Of Disease
Nigeria is the largest Sub Saharan country in Africa and has a population of around 173 million
people. The population is very diverse. It has over 200 ethnic groups, with three tribes known as the
Yoruba (West), Ibo (East), and the Hausa (North). These tribes speak nearly 500 different
indigenous languages (World Health Organization, 2015).
Nigeria has the largest natural gas reserves in Africa and is also the biggest oil exporter on the
continent. What this means in terms of global health is that Nigeria has the largest economy in
Africa with an estimated GDP of 510 billion USD, which surpasses South Africa s economy by
over 200 billion (World Health Organization, 2015). This type of economic growth can reduce
poverty, improve standards of living by offering proper education, provide quality healthcare, and
repair infrastructure, which will help reduce injuries related deaths. This paper will attempt to
explain that despite Nigeria s strong economic track record their burden of disease is still running
rampant, also there are many leading health indicators that need to be readdressed, and finally the
steps Nigeria is taking to combat these issues.
The burden of disease can be measured using the disability adjusted life year scale (DALY). This
scale was developed in the 1990 s to assess the burden of disease across regions, risk factors and
different diseases. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is a measure of the
years of life lost due to premature

Pros And Cons Of Harry Parr
Gas or Electricity Forward looking and keen to acquire one of the new electric fired kilns, Harry
Parr often discussed with Charles Vyse the pros and cons of kiln firing. Vyse was of the opinion
that gas was best, and Parr was one of the first potters to bring electricity to the Cheyne Row
studios. Vyse however, continued to fire his figures using the gas fuelled kiln he had acquired
when Bertha White became his assistant in 1919. From 1920, Vyse and Parr consistently showed
their work at the Royal Academy. Parr organised one or two Christmas shows at his studio, but
most of his work he sold through James Connell of Bond Street. His figures retailed at 25 guineas
with Parr receiving his just portion of the selling price. Unlike Vyse, who by... Show more content

At Charles Noke s invitation, Leslie Harradine had designed the figure HN479 Balloon Seller,
sometimes referred to as the Balloon Woman. Harradine, consummate artist that he was, could
not in good faith model a facsimile of the Vyse original, and an unacceptable practice and against
the law of industrial plagiarism. The Harradine figure may be c0nstrued the amalgamation of
two Vyse designs, the Balloon Woman of 1920, and the current design, Tulip Woman, 1921. It is
conceivable that Harradine took the essential elements from both designs by Vyse, and
amalgamated them into a new and cohesive whole, cleverly modelling a vendor figure of which
the Doulton studio wholeheartedly approved. The first version of Doultons HN479 Balloon
Seller had a Black shawl and grey dress with white spots, withdrawn in 1938 (Fig. 35a). A
additional version HN486 had a blue dress, but was modelled without a black hat, this too was
withdrawn by 1938. The version numbered HN548, introduced in 1922, had a black shawl and
blue dress, also withdrawn by 1938. The Doulton figure illustrated with green shawl and cream
dress (Fig. 35b), and numbered HN583, introduced in 1932, withdrawn by 1949. Finally, Doulton
introduced a further version HN697 Balloon Seller in 1925, decorated with a striped red shawl and
blue dress, and by 1938, it too has since been

Disadvantages Of Ultrathin Models
During the presentations there was to presentations that really opened my eyes to the issues we
have today in our society. These two presentations were on models in the United States versus
other countries and there other presentation was on homeschooling. The modeling one stuck out
to me because I have always struggled with being under weight. The magical number that
countries had imposed was that all models had to have a BMI of no less than 18%. Since we are
surrounded by these images all over the place countries are taking initiative to ban ultrathin
models. They set unrealistic expectations that people want to be like them. Since the BMI was so
important I thought I would do some research after class and I found out that I have a BMI of...

The two things that stuck out to me was that there is no financial support for individuals who
chose to homeschool their children, and there are more benefits than I thought about
homeschooling. Firstly, when you opt to homeschool you child you are not given money to
help with the cost. This makes it very difficult for families who are in poverty to homeschool a
child. It costs more money for a child to be homeschooled versus going to a public school, but it
does cost less than attending a private school. A child who is homeschooled can do online
schooling, but most of the time it is a parent or other older individual teaching a child during the
day. If a family is financially challenged it is hard for a parent to stay home to teach their
children. It was said that children might not be receiving homeschooling education from someone
who is not fully capable of teaching a student. In addition, there are also many positives that
come from homeschooling. Homeschooled children do well on standardized tests, and are
known to be self directed learners. They also have the educational freedom to choose or for their
instructor to choose what they want to learn. They can learn at their own pace so they can spend
more time on things that are difficult and move quickly on things that are easy. The children doesn
t need to be held back by others if they want to move on. It is a much more

What Are The Positive Effects Of Industrialization On...
In the first place there were many positive and negative effects on Industrialization. However,
Industrialization had a greater positive effect on society, although some might argue that
Industrialization had a primarily negative effect on society because of a bad work environment
and unhealthy working conditions. However it was actually a positive effect on society because
of a ready workforce, faster production of goods, increase of trade, and better financial
opportunities. However due to a ready workforce, this showed a positive impact on businesses
and society. For example in document 1 a 16 year old girl, Mary Paul, explains how Lowell is
the best place of her, and that if any girl wants employment, I advise them to come to Lowell . I
perceive from this statement the she was very happy to work there, therefore it must be a good
working environment, which means that the company must prosper thu bring in a ready
workforce because she even advise others to come and work there. Another example would be in
document 2, document 2 has a poem that explains how a parent never gets to see their child
because of long working hours. Although this is a negative effect on Industrialization, it also has
many positive effect to, for example even though the parents have to work long hours, the family
still has money to support themselves and their family. Thus another example of a ready workforce
would be in document 3, this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Application of Nash Equilibrium in Macroeconomics
Arjun Pahwa Math Research Paper The Application of the Nash Equilibrium in Game Theory to
Microeconomics ! One of the most challenging problems a business owner comes across is the
amount of a certain item he or she should stock and the price at which to sell it. Many factors play
into п¬Ѓnding this appropriate price. These include the cost of stocking the item, the projected
demand, and what the competition is pricing the same item at. The latter of the three factors is
considered to be the most challenging to consider. When attempting to tackle this problem we must
consider three factors. First, we must be able to accurately predict the outcome of our decisions.
Second, we must be able to accurately predict our competitionКјs decisions. ... Show more content

our opponent and act accordingly. This is known as solving the game. A dominant strategy is a
strategy that will reward one player more than any other player regardless of any other playerКјs
actions. To п¬Ѓnd the dominant strategy you must eliminate layers on the Strategic Form diagram.
The following tables will be used to describe how to identify the dominant strategy for each player.
Table 2.2: The table above follows the same rules as Table 2.1
Player 1
Top Middle Down
Left 45 35 25
Player 2 Center 16 25 20
Right 56 54 70
!
For Player 2, right is dominated by center. This is because all of the outcomes in
the right column for Player 2 are worse than all of the outcomes in the center column. Because the
right column is out of the picture, the middle row dominates the down row for Player 1. With this
we are left with a 2 x 2 table shown bellow.
Player 2 Player 1 Top Middle Left 45 35 Center 16 25
!
In this table it is easy to see that the dominant choice for Player 1 is middle and
for Player 2 the dominant choice is center. ! The next way of solving games is through the
identification of Nash equilibrium.
This method has its advantages over п¬Ѓnding the dominant strategy in many scenarios. For
example, if Strategy 1 dominates Strategy 2 then using the dominant strategy

Nineteenth Century Egypt
Nineteenth century Egypt held a pivotal stance in European politics and sparked high interest in the
Great European Powers. A dynasty of slave soldiers referred to as the Mamluks were of the earliest
rulers of Egypt. The French, Ottomans, and British all affirmed their intent on seizing the country s
bustling city capital of Cairo, with some conquests being more successful than others. France and
Britain stood as worthy leaders, but it was the basic political, social, and economical foundations
created by the Ottomans that most influenced nineteenth century Egypt. Nevertheless, each of these
world powers played a significant role in modernizing Egypt and shaping the course of its
history. The Mamluks held control of large parts of Egypt in the early eighteenth century.
However, they were not a unified force. Several Mamluk families fought for control for over a
decade, and the final years of Mamluk rule were absolutely catastrophic for Egypt. The endless
fighting alongside the extremely high taxes destroyed Egypt s trade, which was one of the first
triggers of the French invasion. Napoleon Bonaparte intended on protecting French trade interests
and also using Egypt to weaken Britain s access to India. With pride and arrogance he believed that
Egypt was to benefit from the new developments and institutions made possible by the French, just
as had happened in their own revolution. He expected the Egyptian population, who was suffering
under Mamluk rule, to welcome them as

Rupi Kaur As A Hero Essay
People paint heroes in colors and words seemingly out of nowhere; however, these heroes are real
in their own way. They may not have the superpowers, if they do have them, as described and
shown, but there are qualities that were admired enough for them to be created. Heroes are very
much real, not just something in a book. They are also human with human designs and faults. This
makes them likable because not everyone is perfect and heroesacknowledge that themselves, no
matter how much they are idolized. Examples of heroes are your parents, other relatives, people in
the military, firefighters, policemen, musicians, characters, and authors. They are everywhere in
your daily life if you just look around, real or not. Such as author Rupi Kaur and character Gabi
Hernandez. Rupi Kaur is a regular womancurrently living in Canada. Before she came to Canada,
she lived in India and emigrated to Canada with her family at the age of four. She has said that
ever since she was young, she loved painting and writing because it was the way her mother
encouraged her when she had no friends and could not speak English. When she finally could
speak English, she took to making short poems for her friends. This furthered her love for words
and drawings as she grew and eventually she took to social media platforms such as Tumblr and
Instagram. It was on Instagram where she gained popularity for series of photos presenting

  • 2. The Importance Of Pragmatic Language Processing as Goodman Stuhlmuller (2013) claim that pragmatic language understanding is a social cognition. Perhaps the complex systems involved in pragmatic language understanding are modules that specifically process information about social context, and, it is likely that these interpretation. Perhaps one might start by searching for data suggesting that semantic processing and pragmatic processing involve different parts of the brain. In a series of experiments, Rabagliati, Pylkkanen Marcus (2013) tested linguistic ambiguity resolution in children compared to adults. They found that children processed language differently than adults and that children had trouble integrating contextual cues (Rabagliati et al., 2013, p. 1085). And they suggested that this may be because children s executive function abilities are not fully developed (Rabagliati et al. p. 1085, 2013). This notion is in alignment with previous research by Khanna and Boland (2010) who studied lexical ambiguity resolution in 7 to 10 year old s and in adults. They found that those who had more fully developed executive function abilities also were more sensitive to context in their lexical interpretation (Khanna Boland, 2010). These results are starting to paint a picture that the structures for analyzing and interpreting syntax and semantics may be different than the structures that are involved in a pragmatic interpretation. One might hypothesize that the modules for strict semantic understanding are in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Truman Capote s The Cold Blood Truman Capote s In Cold Blood is a stupendously written book, regularly acclaimed for it s unparalleled style. As needs be, readers mustn t look exceptionally far before they discover a surplus of rhetoric. Capote is regularly credited with having made the first crime novel, and he didn t get this praise by composing such as others. He utilized his fascinating composition style to make his readers feel as if they were really in the book, rather than preserving the barrier between the reader and the page. He permitted them to get inside the character s heads and truly know them, seeing flickers into the character s pasts while, likewise, foretelling events to come. He wrote with a very, for the time, eccentric style, but also one that ended up being incredibly powerful. Capote was genuinely a craftsman with his words. His utilization of imagery throughout makes the reader feel as if they are truly in Kansas, Nevada, Mexico or wherever else Capote put them. This is evident as Capote paints the image, Mountains. A hawk wheeling in a white sky. A dusty road winding into and out of a white and dusty village, (107) which permit the reader to feel like they, themselves, are in Mexico. Capote rehashes the same technique merely a page after, emphasizing the cruciality of the scene. At that point, Capote portrays Richard Hickock s cold, oily tortilla leaving a greasy taste in the reader s mouth. Capote s capacity to paint an image out of words was significant to In ... • 5. Michael Jackson s Influence On Pop Culture Albert Einstein, Robin Williams, Shakespeare, every one of the people have greatly influenced the world today. Among the list of extremely influential people lies, Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson was born in 1958 in Gary, Indiana. Jackson was a man of many talents, an entertainer, a philosopher, a recording artist, and the list goes on. With his extravagant personal life, his contribution to music and fashion, and his widely known dance moves/skills, he turned out to be the most influential person in popular culture for over forty years. Throughout his life, Michael Jacksonheavily influenced today s top artists, the technological realm of music videos and the TV industry, and heavily impacted charities. Michael Jackson first truly emerged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first and most evident Jackson follower was Usher. For many years, Usher has been depicted as the next Michael Jackson (Montgomery). Similarly to Michael Jackson s Thriller, Usher s album, Confessions, contains an abundance of styles. Starting with an intense classic, and ending with a deep, raw ballad. Like Jackson, Usher used his musical talent to move beyond simple pop balladry and develop a pure, singular artistic vision (Keyes). Usher himself states, I wouldn t be who I am today without Michael Jackson. Although Jackson s influence on pop music artists was far more evident, one can still see his influence in hip hop artists such as, Kanye West. Kanye portrays the superstar ambition, which is the desire to accomplish everything bigger and better than anyone and everyone and the power to bring one unified vision to a mass of people, that Jackson portrayed as well. Additionally, Justin Timberlake was greatly influenced by Michael Jackson. Just like Michael, Timberlake outgrew the band he started with and launched his solo career. Timberlake kick started his career with a music video that was undeniably similar to Michael Jackson s video with the choreography to the costuming. Another famous pop singer that uses Michael Jackson s methods is, Katy Perry. Jackson and Katy Perry have been some of the only musicians to be able to oscillate between universal anthems and personal ballads (Beaumont Thomas). Finally, considerably most influenced by Michael Jackson is, Chris Brown. From his seemingly impossible dance skills to his Michael Jackson inspired fedoras, Chris Brown dedicates almost his entire style for singing, dancing, and fashion to his idol, Michael Jackson. Brown himself states, Michael Jackson is the reason why I do music and why I am an entertainer. Although Michael Jackson died over seven years ago, he still lives on through ... • 6. Research Paper On Skateboarding Bibliography Charles Gingras The making of a skateboard Essay Introduction As an extreme sports lover and artist, I decided to make something that represents me as the person that I am, so I thought, making a skateboard would be a good idea. I had to think a lot about what shape I was going to do, because most of the shapes I thought of were already made or just boring. One of my first thoughts was making a longboard but the process would have been complicated or too complex to make. So after a long period of time I finally came up with the idea to create a board with the unique shape of a fishtail. I luckily ordered wheels which are one size smaller so they wouldn t touch the wood as much as the ones I was trying out before. Once the wheels I ordered had arrived I screwed them on, but they were still touching the wood, but I had a spare spacer which is a piece of plastic to put between the deck and the trucks so now the wheels don t touch the board anymore. Reflection Now that I am done with my project, I have learned that I should learn how to manage my time better, because I did everything in the last few weeks even though I have had about four to five months to work on it. For my next big project I will start preparing and organizing my essay once I would be told about the task so I can work through out the weeks, to not finish it under time pressure. I am happy with my result as in my opinion I really have succeeded with the aim I had. There are a couple of things to improve if I had done this project again. I should have been more accurate with the planning of the deck as I could have actually done the whole process by myself so I won t have to use an already pressed and shaped skateboard. I ... Introduction As fast increase in energy depletion is nearly related to an increase in a population, people face several environmental problems such as decreasing energy resources, global climate change and greenhouse emission. The integrated systems for combined generation of useful outputs are spreading around the world fast, since they offer diverse advantages, such as higher efficiency, low operating cost. Energy application choices are restricted by thermodynamic principles. Comprehension of exergy application methods can help identifying. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Al Sulaiman et.al [Exergy modeling of a new solar driven trigeneration system] have used exergy modeling in order to evaluate the exergetic performance of a novel trigeneration system utilizing parabolic trough solar collector (PTSC). Solar PDCs concentrate solar radiation to a single focal point by means of one or more parabolic dishes. PDCs have concentration ratios in the range of 600 2000. As a result, they are rather efficient at thermal energy absorption and power conversion processes. Thus, PDC is selected to be the prime mover for the integrated system in this study. Absorption chillers can make use of renewable energy resources, such as solar, geothermal and biomass, in order to generate cooling. The other benefits of absorption refrigeration systems are that they do not cause ozone layer retrenchment, they make use of natural refrigerants possibly having less CO2 emissions and they are independent of electric grids. The most common commercially suitable absorption refrigeration systems are single and double effect systems. In double effect absorption refrigeration systems, a secondary fluid (absorbent) is used to circulate and to absorb the primary fluid (refrigerant). The success of the absorption relies on the selection of an appropriate combination of absorbent and refrigerant. The most widespread absorbent and refrigerant combinations in absorption refrigeration systems have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The team process is an important factor which helps the team to attain success. The team process plays three critical roles which are: converts the team s charter and work plan into actions, influences individuals and team behaviors and helps to reveal the intent behind behaviors (Wong, 2010). Bruce Tuckman had conducted research on various teams and given the five stages of team development. The team process can be observed in all the five stages of team development. The five stages of Tuckman are: 1. Forming: The forming stage of development is a period of orientation and getting acquainted. Members break the ice and test one another for friendship possibilities and task orientation. Uncertainty is high during this stage, and members usually accept whatever power or authority is offered by either formal or informal leaders. During this initial stage, members are concerned about such things as What is expected of me? What behavior is acceptable? Will I fit in? During the forming stage, the team leader should provide time for members to get acquainted with one another and encourage them to engage in informal social discussions (Engleberg Wynn, 2012). 2. Storming: During the storming stage, individual personalities emerge. People become more assertive in clarifying their roles and what is expected of them. This stage is marked by conflict and disagreement. People may disagree over their perceptions of the team s goals or how to achieve them. Members may jockey for position, and ... He was only dragged into family affairs after the attempted hit on his father, Vito. He still strives to be normal even when he is now a criminal yet the sequels suggest he failed. Tony is readily a criminal, since his background is easily identified. He was keen on living the American Dream in any way possible. When the officer approached the vehicle, he noticed two cellular phones on the dashboard, an open container of liquor, fast food wrappers, a box of cookies, a map, and luggage and clothing in the backseat. The officer gave the defendant a warning and then asked him if there was any contraband in the vehicle or whether there was a chance anyone else could have placed any contraband in the vehicle. Although the defendant answered in the negative, the officer returned to his patrol vehicle and asked if there was a canine unit available. There was not and so the officer told the defendant that he was free to leave. Shortly afterwards, the officer saw the defendant speeding once again down the road. The officer proceeded to pull him over and gave him another warning. The officer again asked him if he could search the vehicle and the defendant answered in the affirmative. The officer called a canine unit which arrived an hour later. The canine, in proceeding to do an exterior sniff, circled around to the trunk. The officers then opened the trunk to find 338 pounds of marijuana, a can of air freshener under the driver s seat and several toilet bowl sanitizers in the compartment ofthe vehicle as well as the trunk. These were all indicative of an attempt to mask the smell of marijuana. At trial, the defendant argued that he had taken his vehicle to a repair shop, implying that someone else had placed the drugs in the car. The court found that there was enough evidence, including the large amount of drugs in the trunk of the vehicle, the air freshener, and the inconsistent statements to determine that the defendant had sufficient knowledge of the marijuana in the ... • 15. History And Traditions Of Ancient Egypt The history and traditions of a people can be reflected in its compositions because the writing often preserves the values, concerns, and characteristics of the era. While the canonical literature of a civilization often reflects the most highly prized attributes of the society, more typical pieces of writing tend to offer a unique and realistic perspective on the civilization s lifestyle. A collection of ancient Egyptian love poems written by average citizens was uncovered in Deir el Medina and, like all other works of literature, within the writing, there are details indicative of their values. Because of their special nature, the poems offer an alternative viewpoint to the experiences of commoners. The love reflected in the poetry of ordinary ancient Egyptians was affected by their society s customs, family, and religion. The social mores of ancient Egypt influenced love as indicated in the poetry. In I Devised to Drink in Her Beauty, a common man is travelling to his lover but encounters Mehy, a well known and fearsome warrior. Mehy is representative of ancient Egyptian traditions and obligations and so, upon his encounter, the lover attempts to avoid the warrior. The power and influence that Mehy retains, as illustrated by him being in his chariot, causes the boy to want to hide his wanton desires. This reflects the social stigma attached to being in love in ancient Egyptian society. While in self conflict, he considers crossing the Nile river. In ancient Egypt, the ... • 16. The Multi Store Model And The Working Memory Model Memory is our ability to encode, store, retain and subsequently recall information and past experiences in the human brain (Luke Mastin,2010). In this review I am going to focus on the multi store model and the working memory model, which explain in detail how memory works. The multi store model (MSM) of memory by Atkinson and Shiffrin (1968), explains that the memory is made up of three different stores. These are: sensory memory (SM), short term memory(STM) and long term memory(LTM). This model explains how each store works in terms of encoding, duration and capacity. The SM obtains the information from environmental stimuli through our five senses which are touch, sight, smell, taste and sound. In SM the encoding is either visual, auditory or haptic; duration is Вј to ВЅ seconds and the capacity is all sensory experience(McLeod S.A,2007). Attention is essential for the information to transfer to the STM, otherwise it is lost through decay. The information in the STM is mostly encoded acoustically. The diagram below shows us how the information is transferred from one store to another. According to Miller s Magic number 7 (1956) most adults can store from 5 to 9 items, therefore STM is known to have a capacity of 7+/ 2 items and a duration of up to 18 seconds. The information in this store can be lost through displacement which is replacing the old information with new ones or forgetting it (decay). There are two types of rehearsals. Maintenance rehearsal is not effective ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the 1940s 50s, ECT was the most effective way of treating certain mental illnesses and was used frequently throughout many countries (Kendell, 1982). In 1666, after moving to the Massachusetts Bay Colony from England to await her husbands arrival, Hester beings to fall in love with the town s pastor, Arthur Dimmesdale. Roger Prynne, Hester s husband, and all other passengers of an English ship are presumed dead in the aftermath of an attack. After she and Arthur consummate their love, Hester finds herself pregnant. Hester soon becomes the subject of idle gossip among the colonists after she shares her radical thoughts and views on the Bible and the Puritan way of life. Two of the other mistresses in the colony also witnessed Hester become ill on two separate occasions during the morning hours, so she is called to appear before the Elders of the colony to be accused of Heresy, Fornication, and Adultery. On the day of giving birth to her bastard child, Pearl, Hester is humiliated in front of the entire town and made to wear a red A for adulterer on her chest and to also followed around by a drummer boy that bangs his drum wherever she goes in public. Roger Prynne resurfaces and was never actually killed by the Indians, but was captured and held prisoner. After learning about the scandal of his wife, Roger joins the colony under an alias, Dr. Roger Chillingworth . Immigration reform in the United States of America is a term widely used to describe proposals to maintain or increase legal immigration while decreasing illegal immigration, such as the guest worker proposal supported by President George W. Bush, and the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization or Gang of Eight bill which passed the U.S. Senate in June 2013. Illegal immigration is a controversial issue in the United States. Proponents of greater immigration enforcement argue that illegal immigrants tarnish the public image of immigrants, cost taxpayers an estimated $338.3 billion, and jeopardize the safety of law enforcement officials and citizens, especially along the Mexican border. Impacts on the Possible Amendment of the Constitution I believe amending the constitution so that it meets a balanced federal budget would bring positive effects. For instance, it would help in solving the persistent problem of the increasing deficits and federal debt. Otherwise, the future generation would suffer the repercussions since they would have to take part in paying the debt. This could also limit the chances of the future policymakers to engage in corrupt malpractices and irresponsible fiscal policies which would instead ensure that there is accountability. The federal government would also be forced to take quick actions to respond to emergencies and economic recessions (Brazier, et al., 2017). I also believe that the opposing parties would have to comply with the passed legislation to meet the Constitution s requirement. However, the only set back in my view would be the political pressure that would be exerted on the lawmakers especially the opponents. They would be forced to gimmick the budget to meet the balanced expectation. This would make them work because the law requires them to do so and not because of their willingness in doing ... Creation And The Persistence Of Evil By Levenson In Creation and the Persistence of Evil , Levenson asserts that God s divine omnipotence originates from his battle with rather than banishment of evil. There are a few textual facts to consider in analysis of this statement. In an initial class discussion, we examined the fact that God did not create evil. He created what was and what had the potential to be good (e.g. light, man), separating it from what is deemed as evil (e.g. darkness). For instance, he did not create the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but instead drew boundaries. Yet this concept from Genesis conflicts with one that arises in Psalms 104:26. A large part of organizational behavior could be explained in terms of coercive power rather than reward power. In a 1959 study, social psychologists John R. P. French and Bertram Raven developed a schema of sources of power in order to analyze how power plays function, or fail, in specific relationships. According to them, the concept of power is fundamentally relative, depending on specific understandings developed into relationships, and recognition of a quality that motivates the influence of the power holder, and carries out his or her intentions via the affected. It was French and Raven, who argued and established five significant categories of power, in addition to other minor categories. Coercive power is among the five significant categories, and the duo has noted that coercive power tends to be the most obvious, but at the same time least effective form of power. This, according to them, is because coercive power builds resentment and resistance from the people who are subjected to it. As threats, punishments and force are common means of exerting coercive power, relying on this type of power can result in a deficient leadership style. When viewed in a political context, coercive power is applied, and even tolerable, when applied with the justification of social and legal norms. It can also be tolerated when the leadership group is viewed as successful. Coercive methods are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It costs more money for a child to be homeschooled versus going to a public school, but it does cost less than attending a private school. However it was actually a positive effect on society because of a ready workforce, faster production of goods, increase of trade, and better financial opportunities. A dynasty of slave soldiers referred to as the Mamluks were of the earliest rulers of Egypt. The French, Ottomans, and British all affirmed their intent on seizing the country s bustling city capital of Cairo, with some conquests being more successful than others. France and Britain stood as worthy leaders, but it was the basic political, social, and economical foundations created by the Ottomans that most influenced nineteenth century Egypt. Nevertheless, each of these world powers played a significant role in modernizing Egypt and shaping the course of its history. The Mamluks held control of large parts of Egypt in the early eighteenth century. However, they were not a unified force. Several Mamluk families fought for control for over a decade, and the final years of Mamluk rule were absolutely catastrophic for Egypt.
