Dalzer Essay By Dave Pelzer
A Man Named Dave is the conclusion a series of autobiographical books by Dave Pelzer. To the
millions of readers of A Child Called It and The Lost Boy, Pelzer has become an inspirational figure. A
Child Called It is the gripping and harrowing account of Pelzer s abuse at the hands of his mother,
beginning when he was four years old and continuing on until teachers and neighbors were finally
able to intervene and he was placed in foster care at age the age of twelve. The Lost Boy picks up
where A Child Called It leaves off and details Pelzer s experiences in foster care and his difficulty
navigating in the normal world with the dark shadows of his abuse and of his mother s actual presence

Pelzer s characterization and detailing through the book is amazing and honestly why I feel in love
with the book. It one to to relate to the book but it s different when you can just understand where they
are coming from and have been in situations like the situation your reading and I myself can very
much relate to his experiences. Pelzer stated All those years you tried your best to break me, and I m
still here. One day you ll see, I m going to make something of myself. These words were Dave Pelzer
s declaration of independence to his mother, and they represented the ultimate act of self reliance.
These words truly stuck with me because no I wasn t beat or abused physically in any way but
mentally my mother tortured my mind with thoughts that I was unloved and unwanted because she
was never there. Never there to feed me, never there to make sure I woke up the next day. Pelzer was
taken away from his horrible abuse at twelve I didn t get my mother till a few years after he got his
new foster mother, I was 16. I don t hate her I thank her for making me who I am today. Its is truly
show n this book how the worst can be done to you but there is always room to grow and become a

Roosevelt And Wilson Compare And Contrast
asing off of Roosevelt and Wilson s different points of view, it seems as they are in disagreement. This
conflict did change the U.S. a lot, but at different times. When Roosevelt was in office, his Corollary
went into role. Then, when Wilson took his place, his annual message affected the nation greatly.
These opposing views caused problems not only in the United States, but in foreign countries also.
Roosevelt s Corollary shows that we could help Latin American countries (Cuba, Venezuela and
Panama) by backing them up and supporting them. No other countries were allowed to seize their
land, or else we could step in. If there was a conflict between a Latin American country and a
European country, again, we had the right to step in. Whether we stepped in or not was based off of
the degree of the atrocity and upon our power to remedy it, Roosevelt says. ... Show more content on

When the Maine, was blown up, we blamed it on Spaniards and took it as a hostile act. Then, Spain
started Reconcentrados and there were food shortages, and many deaths and outrages. We started to
feel sad towards Cuban rebels, and we wanted to protect them. Therefore, we blamed Spain for
blowing up the Maine and we declared war.
The Spanish American War started, and a lot was going on. Dewey sank warships at Manila Bay in the
Phillippines, Emilio Aguinaldo seized Manila, the U.S. gained control of the phillipine islands, and we
destroyed a spanish fleet in Santiago. After all of this chaos, 24,000 spanish soldiers surrendered. We
signed the Peace Treaty of Paris, and Cuba gained the independence they wanted. We took Puerto
Rico, the Phillippines, and wake. This calmed everything down.
The Spanish American War took place because we were allowed. Roosevelt s Corollary allowed us to

Different Abilities That Set Humans Apart From Other Lives...
One of the unique abilities that set humans apart from other life forms is the ability of speech
production. Although it occurs involuntarily the act of speaking can be traced back to neural level
even before the muscles are directed to move or before the first breathe is taken to supply the energy
source for speech. Most people may not realize it but the fact is saying a word or even a sound is quite
laboring on the body, especially when it must occur rapidly to even create a single sentence.
Before a word or even a sound is produced the respiratory and phonatory systems must be activated
and set into motion. Respiration which fuels the body is defined as the exchange of gas between an
organism and its environment (Seikel, page 35), while Phonation is defined to be the product of vocal
fold vibration which occurs within the larynx (Sekiel, page 165). In preparation to breathe, the
diaphragm must move inferiorly giving the lungs room to expand. This intake of air must travel a
great distance from either the nose or mouth, down through the larynx, and into the trachea, bronchi
and, finally, lungs. While simply breathing, the air will travel through the vocal folds which remain in
the abducted position. During speech production the vocal folds will adduct causing the air traveling
through them to create a rippling effect as the folds vibrate. It is important to note this is merely the
beginning stage at this point and that sounds produced at this point would resemble that off

The Importance Of Technology And Its Influence In Our Society
Is the humanity given the correct use to the technology? Nowadays, the advancement of technology
not only has brought numerous discoveries for our benefit but also has changed different aspects of
our culture. As R. Buckminster Fuller stated, Humanity is acquiring all the right technology for all the
wrong reasons . Technology is the main influence in our society; specifically, turning it into a
sedentary society, increasing the rate of violence, and losing the communication bond in families.
Most of the cases, technology represents a threat toward us; affecting aspects as our health, jobs, and
education, and making sedentary societies. First, it affects our health due to lack physical activities. To
illustrate, 13 percent of the population around the world suffers from obesity, and the country which
has the highest level of obesity is the United States of America that is also the main global power.
After that, machines have replaced the handwork that provokes unemployment. For instance, in the
recent decades, companies needed one thousand employees to make them work; in contrast, actual
companies only need one employee to make one thousand machines work. The last aspect belongs to
education because of technology makes field works and investigations easier. In most of the majors,
teachers prefer that students make a static research by looking for information on the internet instead
of making a field research doing experiments, analyzing diverse factors, and making their own
summarize from what they research. Technology not only changes the lifestyle of the mankind but
also modify the manner how its members behave themselves. The rate of violence has increased since
technology has become in the main pusher. To begin, violence has seized of our media motivating the
offensive attitudes. Presently, this is a reality because of the majority of TV shows, movies, and series
present topics such as drug trafficking, physical and physiological aggressions, and extortions. Next,
the yearning for everything is another point that changes the behavior of societies. As an imperfection
of every human, it always wants to stand out of the rest. This gives rise to discussions and
competitions to know who should

Essay Walking Dead and Game of Thrones
The two TV shows which I have chosen for this topic are The Walking dead and Game of thrones.
The Walking Dead:
The main protagonist in the film is the deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes who has been shot and when he
wakes up he finds himself in a post apocalyptic world in which zombies are everywhere. He gets out
on a search for his wife and son and reunites with them later. He finds out that there are many
survivors just like him who must fight each other and the zombies in order to survive.
It is a TV series and most of the locations shows in this series are out in the environment and
everything looks like a ruin. The roads have cracks in them and there are abandoned places. The
survivors take refuge in a camp outside the city. There are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The walking dead show that the survivors live in camps and have minimum necessities of life. The
portrayal that they live in camps is effective in revealing their socio economic status. The walking
dead is about survival and hence, socio economic status is not one of the dominant themes here.
Most of the characters in the TV show, The walking dead, are white and they speak with each other in
a way which is not unusual or out of norms. There is a completion within survivors to dominate each
other and be the head of the group. In the show, they even show that there is a dispute between the
main protagonist and his son when the son tells his father that he is not man enough to become the
leader of the group (BERRY, 2013). Also, there have been allegations on the show that it is racist but
the show producers have denied any such claim. The Asian American and black cast have been given
roles which are either too little or are killed off (BERRY, 2013). The claims that the show is racist
have even been condemned by the Danai Gurira who says that her show is not racist (Leon, 2013).
Issues of gender have also been raised by the critics and the viewers who claim that women are given
minor roles and their influence on men is not a strong one (BERRY, 2013). The show is not realistic at
all as it portrays zombies and an apocalyptic world. The show has several characters which are
likeable and several of them who are not likeable. The actors who play zombies

The Lake Tahoe Basin Ecosystem
During the last 140 years the ecosystem of the Lake Tahoe Basin has experienced multiple alterations.
Just as many areas have been depleted or implemented signs of struggle after initial European
settlement the Lake Tahoe basin s ecosystem has been vastly affected by man. The precedent
environment of Lake Tahoe s basin may never be restored to its original condition; however efforts are
being made toward its restoration.

Initially established in the lake as a food source for warm water fish the crawfish as well as mysid
shrimp have polluted the naturally clear waters of Tahoe, and restricted the zooplankton community.
The crawfish introduced into the lake may be thriving in the area for numerous reasons, and some
scientists suggest that the current rise in other food sources for the non native fish species has sparked
the incline in their population (www.tahoescience.org).
Crawfish naturally excrete phosphorous as well as nitrogen, and have enabled the lake to have a faster
turnover rate within its waters thanks to their large numbers (University of Davis Centers for Water
and Wildlife Resources, 1996). Warm water fish not native to the Lake Tahoe area have also begun to
thrive within the near shore environments because of the increase in water temperature, and continue
to intrude on native fish. The rise in water temperatures is most likely from an increase in algae
production within the near shore areas caused by the production of nutrients by the Asian clams,
which in turn then feeds the growing crawfish population.
Since the settlement of the Lake Tahoe Basin people have deforested mountain sides, and killed
almost all natural life within the waters. Just as the Lake Tahoe area has felt the

The Film M By Fritz Lang
We Are the Criminal
There are instances in life in which we must accept things that are beyond our control and
understanding. In the film M by Fritz Lang we are thrust into a situation of that exact caliber. The
story tells of a man named Hans Beckert, who appears to be an average man by day. We first meet the
character as a shadow and all that we hear is a whistle as he approaches a child which was left alone.
Once the news is out about the missing child the town erupts in chaos, everybody seems to have their
own theory about who this criminal is. Even the gangsters of the city have to participate in the
manhunt in order to restore their normal criminal activity, they even stage a court room in which they
plan on prosecuting Mr. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The interesting thing in this film is that it doesn t seem to bother the other citizens that these gangsters
are out doing whatever they please. The number of different crimes committed in the manhunt was
much larger than Mr. Beckert had committed himself. They first forced themselves into the premise of
the storage facility Mr. Beckert was hiding in. They then beat and bound the guards and destroyed a
huge amount of property in the process.
Foucault gives a fairly good explanation stating that these terrible crimes are crimes against nature
(pg. 5). These crimes are so heinous that something within ourselves knows that the crime is wrong.
These crimes carry with them an aura of disgust, instead of a feeling of sorrow. He goes on to say that
the individual in whom insanity and criminality met in such a way as to cause specialists to raise the
question of their relationship, was not the man of the little everyday disorder, the pale silhouette
moving about on the edges of law and morality, but rather the great monster (pg. 5). What he means
by this is that the criminals he describes as dangerous individuals are not the same as the everyday
criminals, these are somehow much worse.
There are certain characteristics that Foucault attributes to his idea of the dangerous individual. He
starts by stating Garofalo s principal in which he

Blistering Research Paper
Introduction
Experts believe that terrorist use of chemical agents is an event with low probability, but potentially
high consequences. While terrorist groups may or may not have an increased interest in chemical
agent acquisition and use, the domestic vulnerability of the United States to chemical attack remains
an issue. Both the United States and Russia have signed and ratified the Chemical Weapons
Convention (CWC), and are reducing, and eventually eliminating, their chemical weapon stockpiles.1
The possibility that terrorist groups might obtain insecure chemical weapons led to increased scrutiny
of declared Libyan chemical weapon stockpiles following the fall of the Qadhafi regime. Experts have

Some agents can penetrate through normal clothing material, causing burns even in cloth covered
areas. While blister agents react quickly upon skin contact, their symptoms may be delayed. In the
case of mustard agent, damage occurs within one to two minutes of exposure, but symptoms do not
manifest for several hours.18 As even low concentrations of vaporized blister agents quickly cause
damage, it is unlikely that exposed individuals can remove these agents from the skin prior to injury.
The initial symptoms of blister agent exposure are a reddening of the skin, resembling sunburn,
combined with pain in the affected area. Swollen skin, blisters, and lesions may then develop,
depending on the degree of exposure. Systemic symptoms, such as malaise, vomiting, and fever, may
also develop in extreme cases. Exposure to large amounts of liquid mustard agent may prove fatal.19
The eyes are also very sensitive to blister agents. Following exposure to high concentration vapor,
great pain, corneal damage, and scarring may occur. Liquid agent often causes the most severe eye
damage. This may come from contact with airborne droplets or by self contamination of the eyes from
contaminated clothing or body

The New Testament Gospel By Matthew, Mark, Luke And John Form
The four New Testament gospel books, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John form a conclusive and
powerful portrait of Jesus Christ as the sent son of God. The four books are not in any way explaining
the biography of Christ s complete life, but rather trying to give the fundamental truth of Christianity,
the great truths of the gospel and who Jesus really is. Each of the named gospel writers gives a clear
and personal perspective of Christ as guided by the Holy Ghost and the themes that correspond to
Jesus. With the exception of the gospel written by John, the other three give some considerable
presentation of well known and familiar accounts and teachings only to be underscored by the distinct
teachings and accounts that support their complete thoughts. These thoughts by the three writers are
brought to a conclusion by John the Apostle, who interprets the life of Jesus by emphasizing his
personhood. Though many writers describe Jesus differently, we will always come to the conclusion
that he is God in flesh.
In Matthew Jesus is portrayed as the Jewish light this is where Jesus was emphasizes the importance
of the Jewish law to his people. Also, Jesus is the authoritative teacher and the king of the Jews. Also,
Matthew clearly points to Jesus divinity since only God can change the laws that he had given to the
people. The gospel of Matthew, Matthew s gospel, is the first book of the four gospels and also the
first book of the New Testament. Matthew s writings are symbolized by an

The Importance of Etiquette Etiquette has always been an important part of life, be it social or

How to Conduct Proper Introductions
Few people know how to conduct introductions in a proper fashion, yet they are an important aspect
of our daily life. In the social realm, men are introduced to women. In the business realm, the less
important person is introduced to the person of greater importance, regardless of either gender.
Though a key aspect to remember is that the name of the person being introduced is mentioned last,
and the person to whom the introduction is made is mentioned first. It is also critical to remember that
the client is the biggest priority, even if he/she holds a lesser title.
In the business world the handshake is the accepted physical greeting which accompanies the
introduction. With the entrance of women into the business world came kissing. This has caused
confusion in male female business etiquette, therefore, men and women should be treated equally by
using the handshake. In order to shake hands properly the thumbs are up and the webs touch before
wrapping the fingers around the other person s hand. Although, in social etiquette the woman is to
extend her hand first. In the business arena it is of no concern. Nametag placement is also important so
that it becomes easy to read while shaking hands. The nametag is to be placed

Health Information Technology For Economic And Clinical...
In the past, our healthcare distribution system predicated its payments solely on the number of
accommodations provided and not on the quality of care distributed to patients. As a result, patients
might receive redundant tests, medication errors, or accommodations that might not ameliorate their
health and may cost them more in copayments or coinsurance. As required by the Affordable Care Act,
Health and Human Services (HHS) launched several initiatives to link payments more proximately
with quality outcomes and promote value predicated care. These reforms promote value over volume
and ascertain that care is better coordinated across the healthcare distribution system (Health IT,
2013). As a result the government is looking to influence innovation and best practices to enhance
administration, quality and patient engagement, while securing protection and minimizing expenses
(Nir Menachemi and Taleah H. Collum, 2011). This influential innovation is in direct response to the
Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act of 2009. Therefore

Food Critic Criticism
As a food critic, you take great pleasure in tasting and exploring new foods.
You cannot afford to be picky about food.
If you love being judgemental and you are a very descriptive and detailed writer than this might be
perfect for you!
Food critics have to have great writing skills to be able to describe their experience in the most artistic
way possible.
On the other hand, if you re very bland and your writing is pretty boring, you probably won t be able
to find a job.
You must be comfortable working with others whether you re reviewing for a magazine, newspaper,
or website and be prepared for many deadlines!
As washingtonian.com explains, deadlines are strike, a job is a job so even if you have food poisoning,
you will still be expected to meet the deadline.
You must be okay with being away from home and family.
Although most of the time, food critics work on their own schedule, they are often away frequently,
especially if their job includes travel.
In an interview for the June 2014 issue of Harvard Business Review, Ruth Reichel talks about her
experience of having to be away from home.
She describes having to eat out for dinner every night, so often that her son confronted her by asking,
Why don t we ever have family dinner?,
And most interestingly, You have to be a spy and keep your identity secret when reviewing a
restaurant.
An example of this is of Pete Wells who told the New York Times on December 2016 that he uses a

Sexual Masochism Disorder
Sexual Masochism Disorder I found the inclusion of sexual masochism disorder (and sexual sadism

which is defined as recurrent, intense sexually arousing fantasies, sexual urges, or behaviors generally
involving i) non human objects, ii) the suffering or humiliation of oneself or one s partner, or iii)
children or other non consenting persons that occur over a period of at least 6 months with a proposed

improvement in the crediting procedures that have been developed within the company. The average
collection period has decreased significantly to an average of 42 days, which enables the company to

Poor sales and lower inventory balances in 2001 contributed to the inventory turnover dropping to
almost 3 times a year. This improved slightly in 2002 as sales picked up within the business. This does
affect the liquidity but does not have a real damaging effect to the products sold due to the nature of

Religion in Shakespeare
The religion of William Shakespeare is a subject about which very few people have a complete
understanding. His plays and poems contain an almost overwhelming number of biblical references
and allusions to biblical thinking, which can be seen as either Protestant or Catholic in understanding.
His concealment of various understandings and interpretations of religious ideology make it difficult
to ascertain his own religious beliefs, however, through further analysis of [insert names of plays],

allusions. Sandra Hole s The Background of Divine Action in King Lear comments on how the play is
a religious rather than a secular play in the sense that its real focus is not on the hero but on the
background of divine action. (Hole, 217) A lot of Shakespeare s plays are set in religious
environments were allusions to Protestant and Catholic doctrines reflect Britain s religious stance in
that period of time. The original source material for King Lear, The moste famous Chronicle historye
of Leire king of England and his Three Daughters, was abandoned, with Shakespeare s play being set
in pre Christian Britain. This may be indicative of Shakespeare s desire to reduce the characters to
basic states of religious or atheistic belief, so as to question religion itself. The characters in

Juliet s Growth Since the Start of William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet The play Romeo and Juliet
was written in approximately 1595, by William Shakespeare. It is set in Venice, Italy, in Venetian
society women played little role in anything other than to be a wife to their husband and a mother.
This is why many Venetian women married at such an early age. The play is about 2 families whom
are separated by a long forgotten ancient feud. Throughout the play of Romeo and Juliet we see Juliet

In this scene we see Juliet as a very naïve character, and in a later scene we see the complete antithesis
of her character, where she is no longer a naïve young girl, who does everything her parents command
her to do. We see her as an independent and sophisticated married woman. Act 1 Scene 5 is the scene
set at the party at the Capulet s household. Juliet s mother introduces her to the County Paris, but
before that, she sets eyes on Romeo, of the House of Montague. Romeo is not aware the Juliet is from
the house of Capulet, he thinks she is exceptionally beautiful. He describes her as a snowy dove,
trooping with crows , the dove symbolises purity, peace and is associated with the colour white,
however crows symbolise hatred and are usually associated with the colour black. This can be linked
to the theme of the feud which exists between the two households, Juliet is pure, but the rest of her
house is filled with hatred and distrust. We then see Juliet s first move to disobey her mother, she
leaves the hall of the ball with Romeo. We see the beginning of Juliet s journey from a child into an
independent woman. We are also made aware of her emerging sexuality. Romeo uses an extended
metaphor in an attempt to get Juliet to kiss him; he describes her as a saintly being and himself as a
sinner who needs his sins cleansing. Juliet knows

Controversy surrounding Native American mascots first came into the public eye during the 1960s

insulting. However, the people who conceived these teams did not acknowledge the prejudice and

under valued in society. The names used by professional sports teams are offensive and perpetuate a
blatant categorization of Native Americans that further Marginalizes them. Professional teams are the
highest level of sport and therefore set an example for the rest of the industry and Americans
themselves. By holding offensive names these teams are enabling a culture of racism in America that
people learn to idolize and thus overlook. Numerous Native American organizations including the
National Congress of American Indians (NCAI), United South and Eastern Tribes Inc. (USET), and
over 40 individual tribal governments across the country have spoken out about these professional
teams and the disrespect they generate. (Ending the Era) Redskins is a term defined in the dictionary

Keanu Reeves Research Paper
According to Mahatma Gandhi, Be the change you want to see in the world. Keanu Reeves is one of
the best well known actors, producers, and musicians in the United State. Reeves has been playing the
role of a hero, for he shares his wealth, time, and love with the world. Moreover, Reeves demonstrates
that he is a great man for making positive changes in other people s life. For me, Reeves is an
incomparable person whom I admire because he is a generous person and a role model: and, he is a
sturdy person.
When I first saw Reeves in the Matrix movies, I regarded him as an ordinary or typical actor.
However, while I was watching a video on YouTube about great and unique artists, some of the truths
about Reeves revealed itself to me. Since then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He begins with overcoming objections, such as drug and depression. Although he did not have a father
in his life while growing up, he turns out to be a father and provider for children who are in needs and
fatherless. Reeves demonstrates he is strong minded by moving forward throughout the challenges and
barriers he had to overcome. For example, he chose to make a different path in life after witnessing his
best friend die of an overdose. He also overcame depression, even though death follows him like
paparazzi in Hollywood. Reeves sister was killed by leukemia; therefore, he funds millions of dollars
to charities and hospital to help those who are diagnosed with the disease. Regardless of the Reeves
loss of his first born child and lover in a car accident, he chose to love again and helps making other
children s life better. In brief, I admire the Reeves role as a provider and giver to those in needs
despite his own life tragedies.
On the whole, I have many reasons for acknowledging Reeves as one of my most admire artists. When
I describe him as generous, model, and sturdy, I feel good because those words also resemble me. He
has motivated me, and others alike, to make positive change. Reeves moves me by playing the role I
dream of becoming. Keanu Reeves shows that one way we can make better changes in the world is by

The Battle Of War, And The City Of Parsis And Port City
Finding this information troubling since he had hoped to have more time to prepare before the conflict
would begin and immediately asked the next question directed at Balthazar. If Tresval and Holdrum
were to consider going to war, which nations would consider joining them?
Balthazar took another sip of Kabus and paused for a moment to organize his thoughts before
beginning as to how the alignments would go. Parsis is a heavily fortified nation, but rather weak
offensively. Cormyth, the capital city of Parsis and port city located on the Iron Sea, is the largest city

Her only city on the continent, the port city of Coreinum, heavily populated and well fortified against
attack. The rest of the continent is uninhabited, ravished by nature, split between desert and jungle.
They most likely will align with Holdrum and Parsis since they are close neighbors. Jenta has a
superior navy and basically would control the seas. The wild cards in this war would be the Elves and
the Dwarves, though I do not see that either party would become involved.
As for you, Lord Nightburn, I see you aligning yourself with Holdrum and Parsis. If Parsis considers
you an ally, it should make it easier for your spy to retrieve the amulet, and with the defeat of Tresval,
you would be able to retrieve the tome you have long sought. That is how I see it. Balthazar grabbed
his glass and took a long sip of Kabus to wet his parched throat after such a long soliloquy.
Well thought out, Balthazar. I have to agree that it would be the most beneficial to both parties.
Nightburn decided to keep the possibility of an agreement with the goblin General Zhousbek to
himself because if successful, it would definitely turn the tide in favor of Holdrum and Parsis and
make retrieval of the tome a certainty. Nightburn then turned to Sir Faine who had come to the table
late in the conversation.

Nuclear Power Plants and Safety
Nuclear Power Plants and Safety
Since the humans use energy sources such as wood, coal, and oil to produce electricity, people want to
use better energy sources to produce electricity more. By the mid twentieth century, scientists found
the method of making incredible energy by using uranium as nuclear fission. Today there are about
400 nuclear power plants around the world and more than 100 nuclear power plants in United States
(Howstuffworks). In addition, nuclear reactors produced a lot of energy and they affected quality life

Greek Culture and its Influences Today Essay
Greek civilization is alive; it moves in every breath of mind that we breathe; so much of it remains
that none of us in one lifetime could absorb it all. Ancient Greeks are known to be one of the greatest
and most advanced people and have left behind a legacy that helped define the Western civilization.
Cultural diffusion helped spread Greek culture all over the world, and its effects can still be felt today
in almost every aspect. Greek culture has greatly affected different parts of my daily life including
architecture, food, government, inventions, music, religion, and education. Modern day architecture in

justice to all in their private differences...if a man is able to serve the state; he is not hindered by the

There, far from exercising a jealous surveillance over each other, we do not feel called upon to be
angry with our neighbor for doing what he likes... Greek democracy helped inspire the creation of
modern democracy, including the government of America. The Greeks made several inventions, most
notably in the subject of math, which are still studied today and taught in school. Mathematician
Euclid is often credited as the Father of Geometry for all his work and studies in this subject, which

Moving Day Research Paper
Moving Day How will my young children feel about it? At some point in their lives, many families
face the prospect of moving to a new home. While a move may be stressful for adults, it can be even
more traumatic for children, as they are most likely not a part of the decision to move, and might not
understand it. Many children thrive on familiarity and routine, which a move severely disrupts.
Therefore, when considering a move, it is important to weigh the benefits against the comfort that
familiar surroundings provide a child. If your family has recently dealt with a major life change, such
as divorce or death, postponing a move to give young children time to adjust may be the best course of

A Father, A Self Portrait, Prophets Hair
In class, I read three Asian Middle Eastern literature stories and poems that gave me a strong willed
perspective on the life of being a father figure. Those poems were A Father , Self Portrait , and
Prophets Hair . The authors of those poems gave me a different opinion on what is a father figure. A
father figure is someone who is not related to a person in a family way but treats you like he was your
father with the way he cares and protects you. Father figures are one extraordinary people. They make
us feel good and loved. They give us there opinions and views of life. Some people who are without
fathers for various reasons, look up to these people for guidance. These people help out with making
us grow up and be mature. That s why these people are called father figures. A Father is by author
Bharati Mukherjee. Mukherjee wrote A Father from the third person point of view with informal
diction. This view has made the reader feel as though they are part of the story, watching, and
observing. This style allows the reader to feel as though they are physically present in the story. A
Father is about the Bhowmick family living in Detroit, Michigan. They are adjusting too America
from there Hindu culture. Mr. and Mrs. Bhowmick are mentioned as their titles Mr. and Mrs.
throughout the entire story to place emphasis on their marriage. They had an arranged marriage in

this group of internet users as further customer. The internet users among the world increase sharply as
the rapid popularity of PC and internet, thus, the great potential of the mass market can not been
ignored, otherwise, the market share of professional software will be reduced as the development of
competitors. b) Organization Changes. The company s value network, business model and particularly
the organization structure need to change to adapt to the new market. ESRI organization structure need
to be more decentralized, with fluid job responsibilities and extensive lateral communication

Policing in Kelsey: Budget Report
Professor Charles McClelland
Abstract
Working as the budget director for the mayor of the city of Kelsey, we have recently been getting
numerous complaints from the citizens about an increase in crime and also an issue of the public
demanding for more police officers. With the population of the city growing daily, the increase of
crime is continuing to progress as well. The mayor has informed us that this past year is the highest
increase in crime in the city s history, that the federal government has reduced the federal pass through
money for the state and that the budgeting group needs to revamp the budget for the coming year.

There are different types of budgeting that businesses typically use and those include Operating
budgets, Capital Budgets and there are many subtypes that exist because a budget can also be created
for special events, the recruitment and retention of new staff, and to manage the advertising expenses
and return on investments for a business (Demand Media, 1999 2012). According to Demand Media
(1999 2012), An operating budget outlines the total operating expenses and income for the
organization, typically for the period of a fiscal year. Capital budgets evaluate the investments and
assets of the business, and a cash budget shows the predicted cash flow in and out of the business over
a period of time (para.2 ). According to the Cost Benefit Analysis (2012), Capital budgeting has at its
core the tool of cost benefit analysis; it merely extends the basic form into a multi period analysis,
with consideration of the time value of money. In this context, a new product, venture, or investment
is evaluated on a start to finish basis, with care taken to capture all the impacts on the company, both
cost and benefits. When these inputs and outputs are quantified by year, they can then be discounted to
present value to determine the net present value of the opportunity at the time of the decision ( Cost
Benefit Analysis, 2012).

Sassanian Rock Relief Essay
The Sassanian rock relief of the Triumph of Shapur I at Naqsh e Rustam defines a major point in
Sassanid history in which Shapur I defeated the Emperor Valerian in 257 A.D. After the First Roman
War, Shapur I then went on to destroy the entire Roman Army in the Second Roman War during the
early 250s A.D. This major event forms the basis of this rock relief, which shows the surrender of
Emperor Valerian and Philip the Arab. This conquest is yet another example of the success of Shapur I
to defeat the Roman Empire, which became part of a public event showing the power of the king over
his enemies:

other in the face. In contrast, there is tension ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is, once again, a form of royal triumphalism that Shapur I emulates in this massive carving at this
location. Certainly, the interrelationship between the successions of Sassanid kings provides a context
for these public presentations of high relief stone carvings, which would have also been a public event
for those witnessing king Shapur I during this historical period.
The investiture relief at Naqsb i Rustam of Ardashir I is yet another aspect of the public ceremony of
royal triumphalism in the way that gods, such as Ahura Mazda, are shown giving the beribboned
investiture ring to Ardashir I. Ardashir I s coronation as the King of Sassanid Empire in 224 B.C.
reveals the god like qualities given to the king through the gift of kingship presented by Ahura Mazda.
Naturally, this iconographic presentation of investiture was most likely part of a much larger public
ceremony, which had become immortalized by this rock carving of the event:
The installment of Ardashir as king of Persis is the subject of the relief at Naqsh i Radjab. Such an
official ceremony would normally be a fairly public event (Overlaet, 2013,

Night-Time Vs The Wave Analysis

father in The Curious Incident of the Night time, or the secretive emotional and physical abuse Laurie

shape for the growing young life of the average teen, standing apart from the crowd and being a
unique voice with an equally unique perspective can feel like being inmured and being set free, at the
same time. The mind of a wise teen creates social and emotional strain by triggering an awareness of
right and wrong, as well as a desire to vocalize this approach. So, sitting back and being quiet about
the circumstances is no longer possible. Once the darkness of ones own fear is subdue, and the quiet
inner voice is heard by others, the challenges of facing the anger from others begins. Whether a boy is
telling his parents he is gay. Or a young woman tells her boyfriend, she is not ready to be intimate
with him. At some point, we are all faced with choices which we must make, whether we are prepared
to or not. Our inner voice will usually be too loud for us to disregard, and we will feel compelled to be
the distinctive individual we are, and say what we are thinking or feeling, reguardless of how we
believe others will reciprocate. This requires

There are differences between hearing and deaf cinema. When you watch a deaf movie, there is no
build up of tension, because there is no dramatic music, things just happen suddenly. The group of us
watching this movie actually screamed because we got caught off guard. The actors also use a lot
more expression, which adds more quality to the movie. Hearing actors usually have a dead face, no
matter what they are saying. On the other hand, deaf use their bodies more and their facial
expressions. I also caught a line where he Rex told Troy he better stop telling him what to do, or he
will cut off his hands. I found this extremely interesting, because this is the deaf equivalent to the
hearing line, Put a sock in it. They are both used to tell people to shut up; however, you cannot shove a

no longer communicate. I think it is important to catch small details like

Causes Of The Secession Crisis
Historians everywhere have many different ideas about why the Secession Crisis occurred. Moreover,
there are many debates about whether secession about slavery at all. Yet, the Secession Crisis was a
time in which many factors came into play.
The argument being made by McPherson in Antebellum Southern Exceptionalism is that even though
American Exceptionalism is a term that can be used loosely, such was not the case for Southern
Exceptionalism. Southern Exceptionalism is this idea that the period of time before, during, and after
the Civil War, the South managed to create another identity of itself, completely separate from that of
the North (McPherson 41). Furthermore, McPherson believes that the reason for the Secession Crisis

He gave many examples detailing why the bill was useless, one of them being that It is true that some
southerners cherished the hope of making Kansas the sixteeneth slave state, but even if they had
succeeded, it would have been a nominal and temporary triumph gained at excessive cost
(Fehrenbacher 90). Fehrenbacher explains how even if Kansas did become a slave state, by looking at
the whole picture, it was clear that ultimately the cons outweighed the pros. There was no point and in
the end it created even more anger. Overall, historians all over the world have many ideas as to why
the Secession Crisis occurred. McPherson believes that it is because of Southern Exceptionalism,
Gienapp believes it s because of the Slave Power, and Fehrenbacher believes it s because of the
Kansas Nebraska Act. However, though they all seem to have different ideas they all have one thing in
common: the trend. In his essay, McPherson does in fact bring up the subject of slavery. In this entire
essay, McPherson only speaks briefly about the effect that slavery had on secession, stating that The
fear that slavery was being hemmed in and threatened with destruction contributed to the defensive
aggressive style of Southern political behavior (McPherson 46). Furthermore, McPherson uses slavery
as a way to cement the idea of how the North and South had this difference in beliefs, rather than
bringing up the discussion of slavery

  • 2. Dalzer Essay By Dave Pelzer A Man Named Dave is the conclusion a series of autobiographical books by Dave Pelzer. To the millions of readers of A Child Called It and The Lost Boy, Pelzer has become an inspirational figure. A Child Called It is the gripping and harrowing account of Pelzer s abuse at the hands of his mother, beginning when he was four years old and continuing on until teachers and neighbors were finally able to intervene and he was placed in foster care at age the age of twelve. The Lost Boy picks up where A Child Called It leaves off and details Pelzer s experiences in foster care and his difficulty navigating in the normal world with the dark shadows of his abuse and of his mother s actual presence in his life looming over him Imagine growing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pelzer s characterization and detailing through the book is amazing and honestly why I feel in love with the book. It one to to relate to the book but it s different when you can just understand where they are coming from and have been in situations like the situation your reading and I myself can very much relate to his experiences. Pelzer stated All those years you tried your best to break me, and I m still here. One day you ll see, I m going to make something of myself. These words were Dave Pelzer s declaration of independence to his mother, and they represented the ultimate act of self reliance. These words truly stuck with me because no I wasn t beat or abused physically in any way but mentally my mother tortured my mind with thoughts that I was unloved and unwanted because she was never there. Never there to feed me, never there to make sure I woke up the next day. Pelzer was taken away from his horrible abuse at twelve I didn t get my mother till a few years after he got his new foster mother, I was 16. I don t hate her I thank her for making me who I am today. Its is truly show n this book how the worst can be done to you but there is always room to grow and become a stronger and even better you than you d ever thought you d ... • 3. Roosevelt And Wilson Compare And Contrast asing off of Roosevelt and Wilson s different points of view, it seems as they are in disagreement. This conflict did change the U.S. a lot, but at different times. When Roosevelt was in office, his Corollary went into role. Then, when Wilson took his place, his annual message affected the nation greatly. These opposing views caused problems not only in the United States, but in foreign countries also. Roosevelt s Corollary shows that we could help Latin American countries (Cuba, Venezuela and Panama) by backing them up and supporting them. No other countries were allowed to seize their land, or else we could step in. If there was a conflict between a Latin American country and a European country, again, we had the right to step in. Whether we stepped in or not was based off of the degree of the atrocity and upon our power to remedy it, Roosevelt says. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the Maine, was blown up, we blamed it on Spaniards and took it as a hostile act. Then, Spain started Reconcentrados and there were food shortages, and many deaths and outrages. We started to feel sad towards Cuban rebels, and we wanted to protect them. Therefore, we blamed Spain for blowing up the Maine and we declared war. The Spanish American War started, and a lot was going on. Dewey sank warships at Manila Bay in the Phillippines, Emilio Aguinaldo seized Manila, the U.S. gained control of the phillipine islands, and we destroyed a spanish fleet in Santiago. After all of this chaos, 24,000 spanish soldiers surrendered. We signed the Peace Treaty of Paris, and Cuba gained the independence they wanted. We took Puerto Rico, the Phillippines, and wake. This calmed everything down. The Spanish American War took place because we were allowed. Roosevelt s Corollary allowed us to intervene with Cuban conflict, so we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Different Abilities That Set Humans Apart From Other Lives... One of the unique abilities that set humans apart from other life forms is the ability of speech production. Although it occurs involuntarily the act of speaking can be traced back to neural level even before the muscles are directed to move or before the first breathe is taken to supply the energy source for speech. Most people may not realize it but the fact is saying a word or even a sound is quite laboring on the body, especially when it must occur rapidly to even create a single sentence. Before a word or even a sound is produced the respiratory and phonatory systems must be activated and set into motion. Respiration which fuels the body is defined as the exchange of gas between an organism and its environment (Seikel, page 35), while Phonation is defined to be the product of vocal fold vibration which occurs within the larynx (Sekiel, page 165). In preparation to breathe, the diaphragm must move inferiorly giving the lungs room to expand. This intake of air must travel a great distance from either the nose or mouth, down through the larynx, and into the trachea, bronchi and, finally, lungs. While simply breathing, the air will travel through the vocal folds which remain in the abducted position. During speech production the vocal folds will adduct causing the air traveling through them to create a rippling effect as the folds vibrate. It is important to note this is merely the beginning stage at this point and that sounds produced at this point would resemble that off ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Importance Of Technology And Its Influence In Our Society Is the humanity given the correct use to the technology? Nowadays, the advancement of technology not only has brought numerous discoveries for our benefit but also has changed different aspects of our culture. As R. Buckminster Fuller stated, Humanity is acquiring all the right technology for all the wrong reasons . Technology is the main influence in our society; specifically, turning it into a sedentary society, increasing the rate of violence, and losing the communication bond in families. Most of the cases, technology represents a threat toward us; affecting aspects as our health, jobs, and education, and making sedentary societies. First, it affects our health due to lack physical activities. To illustrate, 13 percent of the population around the world suffers from obesity, and the country which has the highest level of obesity is the United States of America that is also the main global power. After that, machines have replaced the handwork that provokes unemployment. For instance, in the recent decades, companies needed one thousand employees to make them work; in contrast, actual companies only need one employee to make one thousand machines work. The last aspect belongs to education because of technology makes field works and investigations easier. In most of the majors, teachers prefer that students make a static research by looking for information on the internet instead of making a field research doing experiments, analyzing diverse factors, and making their own summarize from what they research. Technology not only changes the lifestyle of the mankind but also modify the manner how its members behave themselves. The rate of violence has increased since technology has become in the main pusher. To begin, violence has seized of our media motivating the offensive attitudes. Presently, this is a reality because of the majority of TV shows, movies, and series present topics such as drug trafficking, physical and physiological aggressions, and extortions. Next, the yearning for everything is another point that changes the behavior of societies. As an imperfection of every human, it always wants to stand out of the rest. This gives rise to discussions and competitions to know who should ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Walking Dead: The main protagonist in the film is the deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes who has been shot and when he wakes up he finds himself in a post apocalyptic world in which zombies are everywhere. He gets out on a search for his wife and son and reunites with them later. He finds out that there are many survivors just like him who must fight each other and the zombies in order to survive. It is a TV series and most of the locations shows in this series are out in the environment and everything looks like a ruin. The roads have cracks in them and there are abandoned places. The survivors take refuge in a camp outside the city. There are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The walking dead show that the survivors live in camps and have minimum necessities of life. The portrayal that they live in camps is effective in revealing their socio economic status. The walking dead is about survival and hence, socio economic status is not one of the dominant themes here. Most of the characters in the TV show, The walking dead, are white and they speak with each other in a way which is not unusual or out of norms. There is a completion within survivors to dominate each other and be the head of the group. In the show, they even show that there is a dispute between the main protagonist and his son when the son tells his father that he is not man enough to become the leader of the group (BERRY, 2013). Also, there have been allegations on the show that it is racist but the show producers have denied any such claim. The Asian American and black cast have been given roles which are either too little or are killed off (BERRY, 2013). The claims that the show is racist have even been condemned by the Danai Gurira who says that her show is not racist (Leon, 2013). Issues of gender have also been raised by the critics and the viewers who claim that women are given minor roles and their influence on men is not a strong one (BERRY, 2013). The show is not realistic at all as it portrays zombies and an apocalyptic world. The show has several characters which are likeable and several of them who are not likeable. The actors who play zombies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Lake Tahoe Ecosystem The Lake Tahoe Basin Ecosystem Alexis Goski SCI/256 Sep 10, 2012 Shameema Sarker The Lake Tahoe Basin Ecosystem During the last 140 years the ecosystem of the Lake Tahoe Basin has experienced multiple alterations. Just as many areas have been depleted or implemented signs of struggle after initial European settlement the Lake Tahoe basin s ecosystem has been vastly affected by man. The precedent environment of Lake Tahoe s basin may never be restored to its original condition; however efforts are being made toward its restoration. The annual rate of precipitation, and elevational range once generated a strong foundation for a wide diversity of vegetation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Initially established in the lake as a food source for warm water fish the crawfish as well as mysid shrimp have polluted the naturally clear waters of Tahoe, and restricted the zooplankton community. The crawfish introduced into the lake may be thriving in the area for numerous reasons, and some scientists suggest that the current rise in other food sources for the non native fish species has sparked the incline in their population (www.tahoescience.org). Crawfish naturally excrete phosphorous as well as nitrogen, and have enabled the lake to have a faster turnover rate within its waters thanks to their large numbers (University of Davis Centers for Water and Wildlife Resources, 1996). Warm water fish not native to the Lake Tahoe area have also begun to thrive within the near shore environments because of the increase in water temperature, and continue to intrude on native fish. The rise in water temperatures is most likely from an increase in algae production within the near shore areas caused by the production of nutrients by the Asian clams, which in turn then feeds the growing crawfish population. Since the settlement of the Lake Tahoe Basin people have deforested mountain sides, and killed almost all natural life within the waters. Just as the Lake Tahoe area has felt the ... • 8. The Film M By Fritz Lang We Are the Criminal There are instances in life in which we must accept things that are beyond our control and understanding. In the film M by Fritz Lang we are thrust into a situation of that exact caliber. The story tells of a man named Hans Beckert, who appears to be an average man by day. We first meet the character as a shadow and all that we hear is a whistle as he approaches a child which was left alone. Once the news is out about the missing child the town erupts in chaos, everybody seems to have their own theory about who this criminal is. Even the gangsters of the city have to participate in the manhunt in order to restore their normal criminal activity, they even stage a court room in which they plan on prosecuting Mr. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The interesting thing in this film is that it doesn t seem to bother the other citizens that these gangsters are out doing whatever they please. The number of different crimes committed in the manhunt was much larger than Mr. Beckert had committed himself. They first forced themselves into the premise of the storage facility Mr. Beckert was hiding in. They then beat and bound the guards and destroyed a huge amount of property in the process. Foucault gives a fairly good explanation stating that these terrible crimes are crimes against nature (pg. 5). These crimes are so heinous that something within ourselves knows that the crime is wrong. These crimes carry with them an aura of disgust, instead of a feeling of sorrow. He goes on to say that the individual in whom insanity and criminality met in such a way as to cause specialists to raise the question of their relationship, was not the man of the little everyday disorder, the pale silhouette moving about on the edges of law and morality, but rather the great monster (pg. 5). What he means by this is that the criminals he describes as dangerous individuals are not the same as the everyday criminals, these are somehow much worse. There are certain characteristics that Foucault attributes to his idea of the dangerous individual. He starts by stating Garofalo s principal in which he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Blistering Research Paper Introduction Experts believe that terrorist use of chemical agents is an event with low probability, but potentially high consequences. While terrorist groups may or may not have an increased interest in chemical agent acquisition and use, the domestic vulnerability of the United States to chemical attack remains an issue. Both the United States and Russia have signed and ratified the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), and are reducing, and eventually eliminating, their chemical weapon stockpiles.1 The possibility that terrorist groups might obtain insecure chemical weapons led to increased scrutiny of declared Libyan chemical weapon stockpiles following the fall of the Qadhafi regime. Experts have expressed similar concerns regarding the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some agents can penetrate through normal clothing material, causing burns even in cloth covered areas. While blister agents react quickly upon skin contact, their symptoms may be delayed. In the case of mustard agent, damage occurs within one to two minutes of exposure, but symptoms do not manifest for several hours.18 As even low concentrations of vaporized blister agents quickly cause damage, it is unlikely that exposed individuals can remove these agents from the skin prior to injury. • 10. The New Testament Gospel By Matthew, Mark, Luke And John Form The four New Testament gospel books, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John form a conclusive and powerful portrait of Jesus Christ as the sent son of God. The four books are not in any way explaining the biography of Christ s complete life, but rather trying to give the fundamental truth of Christianity, the great truths of the gospel and who Jesus really is. Each of the named gospel writers gives a clear and personal perspective of Christ as guided by the Holy Ghost and the themes that correspond to Jesus. With the exception of the gospel written by John, the other three give some considerable presentation of well known and familiar accounts and teachings only to be underscored by the distinct teachings and accounts that support their complete thoughts. These thoughts by the three writers are brought to a conclusion by John the Apostle, who interprets the life of Jesus by emphasizing his personhood. Though many writers describe Jesus differently, we will always come to the conclusion that he is God in flesh. In Matthew Jesus is portrayed as the Jewish light this is where Jesus was emphasizes the importance of the Jewish law to his people. Also, Jesus is the authoritative teacher and the king of the Jews. As a result, patients might receive redundant tests, medication errors, or accommodations that might not ameliorate their health and may cost them more in copayments or coinsurance. As required by the Affordable Care Act, Health and Human Services (HHS) launched several initiatives to link payments more proximately with quality outcomes and promote value predicated care. These reforms promote value over volume and ascertain that care is better coordinated across the healthcare distribution system (Health IT, 2013). With the population of the city growing daily, the increase of crime is continuing to progress as well. The mayor has informed us that this past year is the highest increase in crime in the city s history, that the federal government has reduced the federal pass through money for the state and that the budgeting group needs to revamp the budget for the coming year. There are different types of budgeting that businesses typically use and those include Operating budgets, Capital Budgets and there are many subtypes that exist because a budget can also be created for special events, the recruitment and retention of new staff, and to manage the advertising expenses and return on investments for a business (Demand Media, 1999 2012). According to Demand Media (1999 2012), An operating budget outlines the total operating expenses and income for the organization, typically for the period of a fiscal year. Capital budgets evaluate the investments and assets of the business, and a cash budget shows the predicted cash flow in and out of the business over a period of time (para.2 ). According to the Cost Benefit Analysis (2012), Capital budgeting has at its core the tool of cost benefit analysis; it merely extends the basic form into a multi period analysis, with consideration of the time value of money. In this context, a new product, venture, or investment is evaluated on a start to finish basis, with care taken to capture all the impacts on the company, both cost and benefits. When these inputs and outputs are quantified by year, they can then be discounted to present value to determine the net present value of the opportunity at the time of the decision ( Cost Benefit Analysis, 2012). • 30. Sassanian Rock Relief Essay The Sassanian rock relief of the Triumph of Shapur I at Naqsh e Rustam defines a major point in Sassanid history in which Shapur I defeated the Emperor Valerian in 257 A.D. After the First Roman War, Shapur I then went on to destroy the entire Roman Army in the Second Roman War during the early 250s A.D. This major event forms the basis of this rock relief, which shows the surrender of Emperor Valerian and Philip the Arab. This conquest is yet another example of the success of Shapur I to defeat the Roman Empire, which became part of a public event showing the power of the king over his enemies: The mood between them is calm: the Roman stands straight, the king sits straight and they look each other in the face. In contrast, there is tension ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is, once again, a form of royal triumphalism that Shapur I emulates in this massive carving at this location. Certainly, the interrelationship between the successions of Sassanid kings provides a context for these public presentations of high relief stone carvings, which would have also been a public event for those witnessing king Shapur I during this historical period. The investiture relief at Naqsb i Rustam of Ardashir I is yet another aspect of the public ceremony of royal triumphalism in the way that gods, such as Ahura Mazda, are shown giving the beribboned investiture ring to Ardashir I. Ardashir I s coronation as the King of Sassanid Empire in 224 B.C. reveals the god like qualities given to the king through the gift of kingship presented by Ahura Mazda. Naturally, this iconographic presentation of investiture was most likely part of a much larger public ceremony, which had become immortalized by this rock carving of the event: The installment of Ardashir as king of Persis is the subject of the relief at Naqsh i Radjab. Such an official ceremony would normally be a fairly public event (Overlaet, 2013, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Night-Time Vs The Wave Analysis Has it ever been difficult for you to make a choice? Especially if you are not certain which choice is the correct one to make? You are not alone. The two books, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time and The Wave, contain two main characters under pressure to make decisions neither one felt was right. In The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time, Christopher decided to leave his unintentionally abusive father and live with his mother in London. And in The Wave, Laurie, a senior at Gordon High, decided not to perform the inhumane tasks which being part of a popular group, called The Wave, required of its members, despite the threat of iron fisted violence. Sometimes, other people create compelling arguments in support ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of course, many teens will never experience the level of nighttime terror Christopher faced from his father in The Curious Incident of the Night time, or the secretive emotional and physical abuse Laurie faced from her ex boyfriend in The Wave. But regardless of how learning to do the right thing takes shape for the growing young life of the average teen, standing apart from the crowd and being a unique voice with an equally unique perspective can feel like being inmured and being set free, at the same time. The mind of a wise teen creates social and emotional strain by triggering an awareness of right and wrong, as well as a desire to vocalize this approach. So, sitting back and being quiet about the circumstances is no longer possible. Once the darkness of ones own fear is subdue, and the quiet inner voice is heard by others, the challenges of facing the anger from others begins. Whether a boy is telling his parents he is gay. Or a young woman tells her boyfriend, she is not ready to be intimate with him. At some point, we are all faced with choices which we must make, whether we are prepared to or not. Our inner voice will usually be too loud for us to disregard, and we will feel compelled to be the distinctive individual we are, and say what we are thinking or feeling, reguardless of how we believe others will reciprocate. This requires ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Black Sand Analysis Black Sand is a horror film, featuring all deaf cast members. This movie lacks linear plot, as the movie consists of multiple plot twist that needs flashbacks to explain the ending. Movies that are all American Sign Language differ from that of hearing movies, and it affects the plot. This is my first movie with all Deaf actors, but I enjoyed it more than movies with hearing actors. So in the beginning of the movie, we meet the characters: Aunt Beth; Cathy, Aunt Beth s niece; Troy, Beth s son; Tim, the boyfriend of Cathy; Joy, Cathy s friend; Rex the boyfriend of Joy. The group arrives in Costa Rica to find that Aunt Beth is not too excited about them coming, and said she sent a letter to Cathy telling her not to come. This is because weird ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are differences between hearing and deaf cinema. When you watch a deaf movie, there is no build up of tension, because there is no dramatic music, things just happen suddenly. The group of us watching this movie actually screamed because we got caught off guard. The actors also use a lot more expression, which adds more quality to the movie. Hearing actors usually have a dead face, no matter what they are saying. On the other hand, deaf use their bodies more and their facial expressions. I also caught a line where he Rex told Troy he better stop telling him what to do, or he will cut off his hands. I found this extremely interesting, because this is the deaf equivalent to the hearing line, Put a sock in it. They are both used to tell people to shut up; however, you cannot shove a sock in a deaf person s mouth because they can still sign. If you cut off a deaf person s hands, they can no longer communicate. I think it is important to catch small details like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Causes Of The Secession Crisis Historians everywhere have many different ideas about why the Secession Crisis occurred. Moreover, there are many debates about whether secession about slavery at all. Yet, the Secession Crisis was a time in which many factors came into play. The argument being made by McPherson in Antebellum Southern Exceptionalism is that even though American Exceptionalism is a term that can be used loosely, such was not the case for Southern Exceptionalism. Southern Exceptionalism is this idea that the period of time before, during, and after the Civil War, the South managed to create another identity of itself, completely separate from that of the North (McPherson 41). Furthermore, McPherson believes that the reason for the Secession Crisis is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He gave many examples detailing why the bill was useless, one of them being that It is true that some southerners cherished the hope of making Kansas the sixteeneth slave state, but even if they had succeeded, it would have been a nominal and temporary triumph gained at excessive cost (Fehrenbacher 90). Fehrenbacher explains how even if Kansas did become a slave state, by looking at the whole picture, it was clear that ultimately the cons outweighed the pros. There was no point and in the end it created even more anger. Overall, historians all over the world have many ideas as to why the Secession Crisis occurred. McPherson believes that it is because of Southern Exceptionalism, Gienapp believes it s because of the Slave Power, and Fehrenbacher believes it s because of the Kansas Nebraska Act. However, though they all seem to have different ideas they all have one thing in common: the trend. In his essay, McPherson does in fact bring up the subject of slavery. In this entire essay, McPherson only speaks briefly about the effect that slavery had on secession, stating that The fear that slavery was being hemmed in and threatened with destruction contributed to the defensive aggressive style of Southern political behavior (McPherson 46). Furthermore, McPherson uses slavery as a way to cement the idea of how the North and South had this difference in beliefs, rather than bringing up the discussion of slavery ...
