This power point presentation consist of how internet of things have it's application in smart cities, and various components which are required for it's application in smart cities.
4. Smart Parking
IOT 4
Smart parking are
powered by IOT
systems
It detects number
of empty parking
slots
Send the
information over
internet to smart
parking application
back end
These applications
are accessed by
the drivers from
the smart phones,
tablets, and in car
navigation systems
5. Smart Parking…
IOT 5
Sensors are used for each parking slot to detect whether the
slot is empty or occupied
This information is aggregated by a local controller and then
sent over the internet to the database
9. IOT 9
•Smart lighting allows lighting to be dynamically
controlled
It is also adaptive to ambient conditions
Smart lights connected to the internet can be
controlled remotely to configure lighting intensity
Custom lighting conditions can be set for different
situations such as foggy day, a festival, etc
Smart Lighting
10. Smart Lighting
IOT 10
• Smart lights equipped with sensors can communicate with other lights and
exchange information on the sensed ambient conditions to adapt the lighting
12. Smart Roads
IOT 12
• Smart roads are equipped with sensors
• They provide information on driving
conditions, travel time estimates and alerts in
case of poor driving conditions, traffic
congestions and accidents
• This information makes road safer and helps
in reducing traffic jams
13. Smart Roads
IOT 13
• Information sensed from roads can be communicated to via internet to the
cloud based applications and social media and disseminated to the drivers
wh subscribe to such applications
15. Structural Health Monitoring
IOT 15
• This system use a network of sensors to monitor the vibration levels in the
structures such as bridges and buildings
• Data from these sensors is analysed to assess the health of the structures
17. Structural Health Monitoring
IOT 17
• Using analysis, it is possible to detect the cracks and mechanical breakdowns,
locate the damages to a structure, and also estimate remaining life of the
structure
• Advance warning can be given in case of imminent failure of the system
18. Surveillance
IOT 18
• Surveillance of infrastructure, public transport, and event in the cities is
required to ensure safety and security
• City wide surveillance infrastructure can be created
19. Emergency Response
IOT 19
• These systems uses critical infrastructures in the cities such as
Buildings
Gas and water pipelines
Public transport
Power substations
20. Emergency Response
IOT 20
• These systems are used for
• Fire detections
• Gas and water leakage detection
• They use cloud based architectures, multi-modal information such as sensor
data, audio-video feeds
• These alerts are sent to public, re-routing of traffic, evacuations of the
affected areas
This system aims at planning a smart street lighting system for energy saving of street lights. It controls the street lights supported by the detection of vehicles or the other obstacles on the street. It is able to control the lights wirelessly and additionally vary its intensity depending on the darkness level. Whenever the obstacle is detected on the street within the desired time the light can get automatically ON/OFF in line with the obstacle detection.
To implement this proposed scheme a low-cost Espressif wi-fi module ESP-32, Flame detection sensor, Smoke detection sensor (MQ-5), Flammable gas detection sensor and one GPS module are used. The sensors detects the hazard and alerts the local emergency rescue organizations like fire departments and police by sending the hazard location to the cloud-service through which all are connected. The overall network utilizes a light weighted data oriented publish-subscribe message protocol MQTT services for fast and reliable communication. Thus, an intelligent integrated system is designed with the help of IoT.
