Analysis Of Pygmalion By George Bernard Shaw Essay
Pygmalion, by George Bernard Shaw, describes Shaw s viewpoint on social class distinctions in the
1900s by describing characters of the upper, middle, and lower classes in the play. Through the
characters descriptions, language, and actions, the distinction between classes becomes very
prominent. Similarly, Galileo, by Bertolt Brecht, describes Brecht s take on the social class structure
during Galileo s time and how the differences between classes affected Galileo s opportunity to do
scientific research. Both plays depict a society ruled by the upper class and a lack of coherence among
the upper, middle, and lower classes that leads to eventual conflict. In both Pygmalion and Galileo, the
authors highlight the advantages and disadvantages of the different social classes in order to critique
how the relationships between people from different classes affect their interactions with each other.
The different classes in both plays had their advantages and disadvantages; however, some classes had
more benefits than others. In Pygmalion, the upper class was the most privileged money wise. Henry
Higgins was an upper class educated man who had quite a reputation and enough money to take on the
challenge of transforming Eliza, a lower class woman, into an upper class citizen. As a member of the
upper class, Higgins had access to chocolates, and taxis, and gold, and diamonds that members of the
lower class didn t necessarily have (Shaw 19). These objects are associated with

Emily Dickinson Poetry Essay
Emily Dickinson s Poetry
There is a lot more to poetry than just the words themselves. What William Shakespeare called, the
mind s eye also plays a role (Borus34). What that means is that your experiences and thoughts will
add to your understanding. Dickinson had an active mind and a style so unique and unusual with her
writing. Something that was very unusual about her writing was that she never put a title to her poems.
Just like many poets, she used a wide assortment of literary devices such as, metaphor, simile,
alliteration, and symbolism. Unlike many writers of her time, Dickinson did not use conventional
rhyme, capitalization, or punctuation (Borus36). For example, she would put dashes not just at the end
of a line, but also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For that last Onset when the King/ Be witnessed in the Room (7 8), In the first part of this line, the
author uses an oxymoron by stating that last Onset . Last means an end, while the definition of onset is
a beginning. (Borus57). Dickinson s poems use a lot of symbols, things that represent other things.
When the speaker describes Onset when the King Be witnessed in the Room , (7 8). I feel like the king
is being targeted as a symbol of God and death. This is showing connection that the narrator must
have a strong belief in religion.
This poem is full of sadness, with the narrator stating, I Willed my Keepsakes (9). Making a will is the
last and final way of ensuring the narrator s previously owned possessions staying with loved ones
after death (Borus62). Most people fear death, the tone of the narrator is merely one of sad acceptance
(Borus62). At the moment of the revealing of the narrators will, There interposed a Fly , This is telling
us that the fly is again interrupting (12). The fly seems to come across as a noisy fly. Why is it
representing as a noisy fly? Why did the fly appear at the end of someone s life and at their last
breathe? The description of the fly changes in stanza thirteen as the narrator states, With Blue
uncertain stumbling Buzz , thus explaining the fly is no ordinary house fly but a metaphorical figure
representing death (Johnson173). The blue buzz in being

Chimney Sweep Research Paper
Proper chimney cleaning can go a long way in maintaining the look and health of your fireplace, and
the professionals at Alaska Chimney Sweep are the right people to get the job done. But when is the
best time to get a chimney cleaned?
Many mistakenly think that the best time to schedule a chimney cleaning is during the first few
months of fall. In fact, the spring and summer are the best seasons for chimney cleaning and here is
why:
Quick Appointments: Because so many chimney owners wait until the last minute to get their
chimneys cleaned, professionals like Alaska Chimney Sweep end up having a waiting list during the
autumn months that can sometimes last into the winter. Avoid the waiting list by making an
appointment during the summer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When a chimney is used over a period of time, creosote, a flammable substance, builds up in
fireplaces running the risk of causing a fire. It is best to get a chimney cleaning well before you intend
to use your fireplace again to prevent the possibility of causing a chimney fire.
Remove the Odor: The combination of creosote and the heat of the summer can make for a terrible
odor in your home. The down drafts coming down the chimney certainly won t fix the problem; in
fact, it ll only make it worse. Be sure to schedule your chimney cleaning well before the worst days of
summer hit to ensure you don t end up with a stink you can t un smell.
Manage Pests: Squirrels, raccoons, birds, and other small animals may have wandered into your
chimney! You don t want to leave them feeling welcome all summer long. Scheduling a professional
at Alaska Chimney Sweep for a chimney cleaning is the only way to ensure your home does not
become a nesting zone to pesky critters.
Catch It Early: Sometimes a routine cleaning can lead to something unexpected. You may need an
extensive repair. It s best to address these issues during the off season so that your chimney is up and

Faith Mustard Seed
Faith as Small as a Mustard Seed I believe in having faith, even if it is as small as a mustard seed. I
grew up in a Christian home. I was taught to always have faith, even when the situation seemed
terrible. Never did I understand what it was like to actually lean on faith in a situation until it was the
only option I had. In the fall of seventh grade I began to act different. I would come home every day
after school and sleep for hours until my mom made me get up. I was always getting sick, and weird
unexplainable bruises would show up on my body. My mom decided that something else was wrong
other than the common sickness kids get. So she made an appointment for me to see my pediatrician.
The nurses drew blood and I sat in anticipation hoping

her to be seemingly alone, eventually, she inherits a parrot named Loulou. Loulou becomes a bridge
for Félicité s feelings to be shown and provides her a bridge for her happiness to blossom while also

Legally Speaking Can Online Piracy Be Stopped By Laws
With how vast and expansive the internet is today, online censorship is a huge debate that will always
be ongoing. There are mainly two sides of this debate. One side says that online censorship is needed
no matter what, and the other side says that the internet is free and that the internet can never be
controlled by the on company or even the government. While both sides have a great point, there is
still a side to take.
The internet in today s day and age is a huge part of everyday life. Some people use it to make
business calls, or have their own website for their store, and even send important information to others
all around the globe. However, there are also websites such as piracy sites that allow users to

How can this be? Well, from a business standpoint there may be some money loss, however, there are
other ways that this can also produce a significant amount of income. When someone pirates an
album, for example, if they listen to it and then like it, they are going to get more of the artist s work
or more of their albums. When this happens, they might tell all of their friends to check them out and
then they will want to go pirate, or even buy, an album that that band made. Most artists usually have
concerts that require payment to get in. When this group of friends go to a concert that the band is
having within the area, they are supporting this newly found band. Artists make most of their money
from the concerts and shows that they do, not the albums that they sell on iTunes or in the stores. That
money goes to the producers and the people who put out the

Beowulf And The Anglo Saxon Epic Poem, Beowulf
In the Anglo Saxon epic poem, Beowulf, a myriad of virtues define the warrior Beowulf. Coming
from his homeland, Geatland, he arrives in the land of the Danes resolute in helping King Hrothgar
defeat an evil monster, Grendel. Beowulf is an impressive, strong warrior who will triumphantly
defeat Grendel; moreover, he will demonstrate how one must seek glory before death, a legacy. A man
s reputation and his lineage is exceedingly important in the patriarchal society Beowulf lives in.
Consequently, through his code of honor, loyalty and pride, he leads in battle and conquers his
enemies, acquires fortunes, gains land and all the treasures imaginable. He will encounter three battles
that will depict his character and his worth. The rich manner with which the poem describes these
events demonstrate Beowulf s prowess. Beowulf is the epitome of what a hero should aspire to be, a
man of honor, loyalty and pride to leave a remarkable legacy. During the fifth and sixth centuries, the
Scandinavian feudal government exercised the honor system of comitatus. Comitatus consisted of
thanes pledging their lives to defend their king, in exchange for the king s rewards. These rewards
consisted of protection, land, treasure and perchance a title. Beowulf follows this code rigorously and
it is what allows him to carry himself with maturity and control when facing any obstacle. Although
many aspire to tangible rewards, Beowulf is greatly concerned about the prestige a victory will do to

Teen Drama Analysis
The Era of the Teen Drama (Part 1)
Picking a good television show to binge watch on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, or even ordering a DVD
boxed set (we re all guilty of it), everything. You know ten minutes in if you re going to like it or not
enough to fully make the commitment. Most binge watching begins and ends with none other than the
teen drama.
This concept of the teen drama is not a foreign one, and there is something about teens with insane,
over dramatic lives that has everyone hooked.
It all started in 1990, when the first show to ever be classified as a teen drama was put into our hearts
and television screens. That is Beverley Hills 90210. The show ran from
1990 to 2000, and it followed a group of friends, living in Beverley Hills and making the ... Show

Of course there was a maximum amount of drama. Between friends dating friends (and breaking up),
drugs, alcohol, jobs across the world, there was nothing that couldn t keep its viewers hooked into the
lives of these teens.
The next show that came about was basically set up to live onto the teen drama name
(or fame.) That show is none other than Dawson s Creek. Dawson s Creek is a show that if you are a
tv show/ teen drama junky, you have to have it under your belt.
It starts out as a classic coming of age, two best friends in high school, trying to make the transition
from best friends to lovers, without it being awkward. However, there are major twists and turns, the
girl next door who without intention mixes up the love interests, and the other boy friend who is just
trying to find himself but actually finds love. Dawson s Creek has pretty much everything you want in
a teen drama. Even though it is a few years old by now, and can seem a little dated, it is just like the
ones from current time that we tv junkies love, (One Tree Hill, and Gossip Girl, to name a few.) There
are long drawn out love speeches from your favorite characters, you trying to figure out

Hip Bursitis Research Paper
Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome
The medical definition of bursitis is an inflammation or irritation of the bursa, which is a small, fluid
filled sac found in articulation. Inflammation occurs from the decrease of friction of the bursa between
the bones, muscles, and skin. Bursitis can be an acute or chronic condition. Acute bursitis are often a
result from an infection or injury, while chronic bursitis are caused by long periods of repetitive
motion or use of the affected joint. The most common sites include the elbow, hip, shoulder, knee, heel
and even the base of the big toe.
Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome (formally known as Trochanteric Bursitis, or GTPS for short) is a
hip bursitis which distresses the superficial trochanteric bursa located over the greater trochanter of
the femur. Inflammation of the trochanteric bursa is due to muscles and tendons rubbing over the

Rest, cold therapy and non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS), such as aspirin and
ibuprofen, are most effective to reduce inflammation stemming from injury and overuse. Combination
of physical therapy and activity modification are recommended for proper stretching and

hip bursitis, an infection of the bursa, the doctor may perform an aspiration, in which a needle and
syringe is used to remove fluid from the bursa followed by a prescription of antibiotics to prevent the
spread of infection. If rest, physical therapy and NSAIDs are no longer effective in relieving the pain,
then corticosteroid injections are administered. Although surgery is rarely needed, it may be warranted
with some chronic hip bursitis. The three types of surgery most often used are tendon repair and

The way Jeff Corwin wrote it was a mix of scientific facts and journalistic approach. It was like
reading a story and learning more than you expect. It also differs from other books that present the
same types of facts because this book is more of a wakeup call. He specified human activity as the
root of all of it and has presented actual, hard, cold facts about its effects on our own species. Jeff
Corwin s experiences were the most engaging parts of the book. He has done so much to help save the
animals and the way he tells his stories shows his passion for these animals and his love for what he
does. There were intense moments in his stories and they were very exciting as he brought readers into
his adventure. It can be seen that his facts can be verified. His sources were specifically listed in over

Descriptive Essay On The Spider
The Spider(s)
I woke up like any other day from my deep sleep when my alarm clock started blasting after
repeatedly hitting snooze ten times. Looking up at it I realize it s my day off and curse at it for waking
me up. After stretching I recall the dream I had. It was the most bizarre thing ever. It felt real, to real
for my comfort zone. I was slowly getting ready for work, when I tripped over my feet trying to put
my shoes on. My focus lands on this medium brownish black dot in the middle of the wooden floor.
Realizing what it is I let the fear begin to consume my whole being. It s as if all those eight eyes are
staring at me, waiting to chase me at the right moment when my guard is down. I can see it twitching,
focusing all of it s energy to jump on my face. But before it can do that I begin to get up. Hoping that I
was going fast enough but slow enough but I wouldn t trigger it to pounce on me. Once I got on my
feet I dashed to the kitchen feeling relieved to get away from it. As I m looking for something that
could squish the eight legged creature from existence I feel this tickle on the back of my leg slowly
moving upwards. Knowing what it is, out of instinct I quickly reach down and flick it off me. With A
rolled up newspaper I turn around and see that the spider is nowhere to be seen. I go to the spot I saw
it land but it s as if it just upped and poofed it s way into hiding. I can t just leave it to roam around, it

Hustle As The Strategy Summary
The strategy as one of the factors that are essential for sustainable success of the Organization, is hot
disputes with the passage of time. The most varied range of topics, concepts and theories is around the
strategies. The objective of the essay is a critical review of the article Hustle as the strategy by Amar
Bhide. First of all, it will look into the position of the article in the broader debate on strategies.
Secondly, it will examine the suppositions and theoretical bases of the article.
It will then assess the strengths and weaknesses of the viewpoints presented in this article. And lastly,
author s personal thoughts on strategy will be terminated alongside the conclusion of the entire essay.
Position in the broader strategy of the debate
Amar Bhide applies hustle as a strategy for the organisation to succeed in the market. He contradicts
the role of the strategic planning or long term development strategy and at the same time puts
emphasise on the role of the operation and super execution (Bhide, 1984). This position is in the wider
debates on the competition verses Performance view, Prescriptive verses Emergent view and
Positioning approach verses Resource based View (RBV). Amar Bhide has his viewpoints on the side
of the performance, to comply with the mandatory requirements or the organisation led approach.
From the perspective of performance view, organisation is internally self focused rather than obsessive
preoccupation with rivals and making

Four Contemporary Approaches To Management Analysis
Management is a leadership role of someone who works with resources and people to set and achieve
goals to make an organization successful. There are many different approaches to management that a
manager might use to help discover any problems and make proper decisions to solve anything that
might go wrong. When it comes to contemporary methods there are four ways that a manager might
utilize working with people, technology, resources, and the internal and external environments. These
include sociotechnical theory, quantitative management, organizational behavior, and systems theory.
Also, there are parts of an organizations internal and external environments that may alter the
effectiveness of these four contemporary approaches and how a manager might makes decisions. To
begin, using the sociotechnical theory approach to management, a manager will recognize the
interaction between technology and employees in an internal work environment. When giving the
correct knowledge, training, and tools, an employee will effectively produce goods and services that
are valued by the consumer. Ultimately, using this type of management creates great teamwork and
will give an organization a competitive advantage. Another approach that managers might use is the
quantitative management approach. It is not quite as effective when using it alone and should be used
as a supplemental tool. This approach uses technology and mathematical models such as forecasting,
simulations, and analysis and

Abstract
Much like the telephone or the automobile, the internet has dramatically changed the way people work
and live. Unlike the telephone or the automobile, though, the internet has single handedly led to the
creation of a relatively free space, where people around the world gather to share ideas, collaborate,
mingle, and invent a future with new possibilities that no one knew they needed today. From its
humble beginning as a relatively inexpensive lab project aimed at improving workflows to its rise
against tyranny in world affairs, a worldwide obsession with the internet has gone viral and will likely
sweep non discriminatorily to all parts of the globe. As this loosely regulated environment, also known
as Cyberspace, the Net or the Web , matures; it is the civic duty of its users to ensure that the door to
the information gateway remains open and accessible as it continues to disrupt all industry and
influence all aspects of human conditions. Introduction
The worldwide use of the internet is practically indispensible. Yet, its origin only dates back to the
early 1950s. No invention in history has grown so fast to touch so many lives. In fact, neither the

Dramatic Development Of New Technologies And Media Content...
Dramatic development of new technologies and media content diversity, which gained a major boost
in recent years, entitled the audiences to power, which they never had before. People want to
participate in the process of creation and influence the form of provided entertainment and
information more than ever before. This statement relates to all media sectors. This power is an effect
of the tools that are being published by the contemporary cultural industry. Not only the audiences are
being given the technology, but also encouraged to make an innovative use of it. With growing
amounts of passionate individuals, who are willing to discover the techniques of professional
production, the prospect for innovations is greater than ever. Social media services are the core point
of auto promotion and a chance for being recognized by the industry. This helps in the process of
fostering a sense of the consumers and the servers and blurring the line between them. It also affects
the oligopolistic practices of major media corporations, changing the market and relations between the
big companies and small teams.

The Leadership Practice Of A Nursing Student
As a nursing student, I have had great success forming therapeutic relationships with my clients and
have received positive feedback from clinical instructors about my patient communication. However, I
experience uncertainty when interacting with peers or colleagues. My lack of confidence translates
into difficulty forming effective professional relationships. This assessment is reflected in my Clinical
Leadership Survey as a deficit in the leadership practice of Encouraging the Heart. This practice
includes behaviors such as recognizing contributions, celebrating accomplishments, and providing
feedback (Patrick, Laschinger, Finegan, and Wong, 2011).
The results of my baseline survey support the theory that my weakness is in interprofessional
communication. Alternatively however, I recorded equal strength of fourteen out of fifteen in the other
four leadership practices. Each of these four practices incorporates an element of Emotional
Intelligence and reflective practice. Based on my clinical experiences and feedback from instructors, I
agree with these results and can identify that interprofessional communication is the skill I must
develop to become an effective leader.

In modern times, the emergence of Anglo Catholic traditions have widely been attributed to the
general emphasis of formal worship and resistance to modernisation . Father Dane Elsworth, an
Anglican priest in Durban, stated in an interview that the Anglican church has largely been effected by
liberal minded people , which he asserts has lead to many losses in terms of liturgical practice. The
modern day Anglo Catholic movement can be traced back to the Oxford Movement of the Victorian
era. One of the main objectives of the Oxford Movement was the assertion that the Church of England
was a divinely founded institution, which adheres to the Apostolic Succession and of the Book of
Common Prayer acting as its rule of faith . The prime idea was that Anglicanism was not at all a
Protestant denomination, but rather an off shoot of the Catholic Church, together with the Roman
Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox churches. It was argued by the

What Is Good And Evil In The Prophet
Some people believe that poetry is written only by mournful men and women with hate filled and evil
behaviors. Khalil Gibran shows us that many other uses of poetry can be used to express ideas on a
widely debated topic on good and evil. In William Golding s, Lord of the Flies, and Khalil Gibran,
The Prophet, their extremely different views of good and evil are apparent. Golding proclaims that
evil is in everyone, and that they are born with it from the beginning. On the other hand, Gibran
suggests that everyone is inherently good and born pure, and evil is just being lost or uninspired.
First, Golding seems to imply that when the group of boys are evil to begin with. For instance they
abandon their civilized ways, they start acting according ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gibran shows that everyone is inherently good, but Describes evil as lost and uninspired. Gibran
writes For what is evil but good tortured by its own hunger and thirst? (2) Gibran challenges and
raises a new question of whether evil is actually the goodness in you but in a different form. The
author of the poem also states that everyone is inherently good from the beginning, and that we should
be compassionate to those who are selfish and cruel, for they suffer from greater poverty than the
homeless. The author shows us that maybe that good in others it is a flat stream that loses itself in
angles and bends and lingers before it reaches the shore. (). This helps people realize not judge when
one does what may appear to be wrong or evil , it s just that you re divided and living in your blind
world and can t see clear, and not to judge someone too soon.On the other hand, Golding views human
nature completely opposite, since the desire to kill and hunt is in all of us rooted in our genome.
Maybe [...] there is a beast [...]What I mean is... maybe it s only us. (90 91). There is a large difference
between Gibran s view on evil and Golding s view on evil. Golding thinks that evil is in everyone
from the very beginning, and are born with it. However, Gibran thinks that evil comes from good
already inside of

The Good Life Of Andrew Carnegie
Human nature dictates the necessity of being successful and happy, and to find internal contentment,
but what truly defines the good life? Everyone makes decisions about the person they want to be and
what is most important to them: Which do you value more, your wealth or your friendships? Do you
want to be famous or truly loved? Do you care what people think or are you just trying to please
yourself? I think the good life is a combination of everything, and is a fine line that everyone must
walk if they want to be truly content. Some people consider freedom the meaning of the good life.
Thoreau teaches that the good life is freedom from desire. To have a good life people must be free to
make their own choices and mistakes. However, other people have a different opinion about the good
life Andrew Carnegie believes people can find the good life through success and wealth. Yet still,
others want neither of these, choosing instead to stay innocent with no responsibilities like Adam and
Eve, free from decisions and the stresses of everyday life. Another view is Freud s Pleasure Principle
that suggests people are interested only in fun and doing whatever they want all the time. Moreover,
these people don t want to worry about anything else. I believe the definition of a good life can be
described in three simple words, freedom, love, and happiness. Freedom: we should be able to choose
where we live, work and what we do with our lives. Love: everyone should know what it feels

literature review of Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC). It discusses past years advances made so as to
provide progress that has been accomplished in this area of research. There are some challenges in this
area which have to be overcome. One of the important challenges is security over cloud network.
There are two major categories: security issues faced by cloud providers and security issues faced by
customers. The providers must ensure that their infrastructure is secure and clients also ensure that
their data and applications are protected over the cloud. The main objective of the review paper is to
enhance both the performance as well as the security of mobile cloud computing. This paper presents
a review on the background of MCC with characteristics and recent research work. It then analyses the
challenges regarding the security of MCC and overcome them by providing an extra layer of
encryption which also improves the reliability and privacy. The rest of the paper collects the results
and points out some more challenges which are yet to be

Prairie Dog Research Paper
The Black Tailed Prairie Dog is common to the Great Plains, all the way from Canada to the northern
parts of Mexico. The loss of prairie throughout the years has led to a loss in numbers, but they still are
around in the Great Plains. The prairie dog lives in areas with short grassland, and they burrow into
holes. They dig the holes themselves and leave a big pile of dirt that surrounds their hole. The pile of
dirt protects the hole from flooding, and helps them keep a lookout for predators. Their holes range
from three to ten feet deep, and about ten feet wide depending on the prairie dog. They make nesting
chambers throughout their dens and have a separate spot for the bathroom (Nature Works 1). Prairie
dogs have a great burrow system with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Privately owned lands west of the standing rock and Cheyenne River have very few prairie dogs
compared to other areas of South Dakota (sidle 6). Prairie dogs have declined a lot over the years. In
the 1800 s there were 283 million ha of land occupied by prairie dogs. By 1971 the numbers had
declined to 600,000 ha of land used by prairie dogs. Habit loss, plague, and control programs are all
part of the reason for the decrease in numbers in South Dakota. So prairie dog numbers throughout
South Dakota have gone down substantially over the years (Hof

Sam Warner s Influence On The Film Industry
Sam Warner
Sam Warner s influence on cinematography brought the movie industry to where it is now. His story is
both inspiring and tragic. As a boy born in hard times to poor parents, Sam Warner overcame all that
was working against him. From nothing, he built the foundation for the 127 billion dollar company
that Warner Brothers is today. In Baltimore, Maryland, Polish immigrant parents Benjamin and Pearl
Warner gave birth to 5 children: Albert, Henry, Samuel, Rose and Fanny. Times were hard for the
Warner family and money was scarce. Fanny and Henry both died during childhood. Benjamin created
a novel shoe repair while you wait shop which proved to be quite successful for a time. Sending his
kids out to run shoe shine stands and ride paper routes, the Warners were starting to get their foot in
America s doorway. Benjamin, being the entrepreneur that he was, became a part time traveling
salesman for kitchenware and eventually moved to Canada to start a fur trapping business. Things
went south after being screwed over by a business partner, and two more children were born in
Canada: Jack and David. Now in poverty, the Warners moved back to Baltimore and successfully ...

Sam returned home to Youngstown and started his film venture in a line of empty store fronts, and he
only had one film to show with his brother and mother accompanying it with music and vocals. Seeing
that it was a big hit, Sam and his brothers spread the movie theater business all across the East Coast.
Later, Edison created the Trust, a motion picture company that intimidated the Warners out of the
business. A few months after, Sam convinced his brothers to bring the company back up and move to
California, where they wouldn t have to deal with the Trust as much. But instead of just showing
films, now they were going to create the movies

Plate Geology
Structural Geology and Plate Tectonics
Geology is an overall study of planet Earth its composition, structure, process, and history (Shipman,
Todd, Wilson 602). Geology also plays a role in the study of the Moon and other solar system objects
is primarily the province of astronomy. None of the remarkable scientific advances of the twentieth
century revealed with certainty the composition and structure of the Earth s interior (603). Present
ideas presently rest on indirect evidence provided by earthquake body waves, their speed and direction
identifying the types of materials through which they move, meteorites whose composition is believed
to be similar to the Earth s, spacecraft measurements of gravity and magnetic variations, and

However, it was not until this century that nuclear age technology was developed that uses
measurements of radioactivity in certain types of rocks to give us ages in numbers of years. These
ages, usually called radiometric ages, are used in conjunction with relative dating principles to
determine at least an approximate age for most of the world s major rock formations (USGS).
Radiometric dating is the determination of age by using radioactivity, has become geology s best tool
for establishing absolute geologic time (Shipman, Todd, Wilson 704). The atomic nuclei that decay of
their own accord are said to be radioactive. The decay product or daughter nucleus, as it is commonly
called may be stable. If so, the transformation reaches completion in a single step. However, the
daughter nuclei of many naturally occurring isotopes are themselves radioactive and hence undergo
further decay

Critical Challenges Facing Black Studies Essay
One of the most critical challenges facing Black Studies today is the need to rescue and exercise its
right to self definition and self determination with scholarship and vision and to reassess with rigor its
original paradigm in both theory and practice (Karenga, p.356). This statement by Maulana Karenga
in Black Studies and The Problematic of Paradigm: The Philosophical Dimension brings forth the
question from class, how do students and scholars of Africana Studies go about identifying and
making sense of their intellectual project? One way we see this being answered is through media, or
more specifically film. Living in a society where there is different forms of technology accessible to
people in every direction, people become less likely to research and read books about Africana
Studies. This form of Method in Africana Studies through film is one of many different ways to go
about understanding the complexity of Africana Studies but will come to find out later is still not
necessarily being taken seriously or seen by blacks at all. Ava DuVernay, an African American Woman
Filmmaker, makes short films featuring black people and different life situations. Her film The Door
depicts the power of sisterhood in times of struggle and sadness. Though these are situations women
of all different races experience, she chose to use black women and black people in this film and her
other films as well, while highlighting the many layers black people have. In an interview

Increase of Unemployment in the United Kingdom
A political issue that the United Kingdom is currently facing is the increase of unemployment which is
positively helping the economy, as a result. The number of citizens not working in the UK decreased
by 63,000 to 2.33 million in only three months to January 2014, according to official figures. (BBC)
This is clearly a significant current event in UK at the moment because 7.2% of their population is
without a job. The unemployment rate in Scotland fell to 6.9%, in Wales it was 6.7% while in
Northern Ireland it was 7.5%. (BBC) Interestingly, I found that the Prime Minister David Cameron
tweeted: Another significant fall in unemployment is a sign our long term economic plan is working,
providing security and chances for hard working people. (BBC) In other words, the rising rate of
unemployment is not necessarily a clear indicator of a shattered economy. A large portion of the
unemployed are self employed businessmen or entrepreneurs working on their own ventures and have
found new ways of producing a steady income within the British economy. Ultimately, the economic
history and politics of this nation have been originated by Parliament and are the primary cause for the
rapid growth in the business market right now.
The United Kingdom was founded in 1707. This is a region which is united from three nations. These
nations are England, Wales, and Scotland. By the nineteenth century, there was speedy economic
change that heightened and secured

Transcendence and Technology in William Gibson s Neuromancer
Transcendence and Technology in Neuromancer
Where do we go from here? Case asks near the conclusion of William Gibson s novel Neuromancer
(259). One answer suggested throughout most of the narrative is nowhere. True, geographically we are
whisked around the urban centers of Earth in the near future, Chiba City, the Sprawl, Istanbul, and
then to the orbital pleasure domes and corporate stronghold of Freeside and Straylight. The kind of
movement to which I am referring is not overtly physical, though. Neuromancer articulates a motion
inward, its attention focused upon subtle interiors; it is implosive rather than expansive, choosing to
examine how technology affects the universe of self, individual consciousness, rather than ... Show

With this increasingly sophisticated technology, with the ability to remake the world and ourselves,
Case s question resonates self consciously: where do we go from here? Neuromancer presents
technology in an accelerating culture as a potent force capable of facilitating escape, immersion,
destruction, and even transcendence of self without glamorizing or demonizing technology itself.
Perhaps, in this manner, Gibson is able to posit more than one viable answer to this paralyzing
(peculiarly postmodern) question.
As the gap between present and future grows smaller and becomes difficult to discern, people and
machines overlap and, in some cases, are indistinct or interchangeable. If we move even twenty
minutes into the future (a la Max Headroom [1985]), as Larry McCaffrey states, we will encounter a
world...unimaginably transformed... (9). In this environment, where whole bodies of technique are
supplanted monthly , the soft flesh of the human body becomes a deliberately unsupervised
playground for technology itself (Neuromancer 4,11). Some cybernetic implants, Molly s
mirrorshaded eyes, her retractable razor claws, the brain sockets built to accept microsofts, software
allowing instant access to and mastery of entire worlds of knowledge and skills, offer the promise of
heightened, seemingly superhuman, physical and/or mental abilities. Such prosthetics seek to exploit
or enhance a

  • 2. Analysis Of Pygmalion By George Bernard Shaw Essay Pygmalion, by George Bernard Shaw, describes Shaw s viewpoint on social class distinctions in the 1900s by describing characters of the upper, middle, and lower classes in the play. Through the characters descriptions, language, and actions, the distinction between classes becomes very prominent. Similarly, Galileo, by Bertolt Brecht, describes Brecht s take on the social class structure during Galileo s time and how the differences between classes affected Galileo s opportunity to do scientific research. Both plays depict a society ruled by the upper class and a lack of coherence among the upper, middle, and lower classes that leads to eventual conflict. In both Pygmalion and Galileo, the authors highlight the advantages and disadvantages of the different social classes in order to critique how the relationships between people from different classes affect their interactions with each other. The different classes in both plays had their advantages and disadvantages; however, some classes had more benefits than others. In Pygmalion, the upper class was the most privileged money wise. Henry Higgins was an upper class educated man who had quite a reputation and enough money to take on the challenge of transforming Eliza, a lower class woman, into an upper class citizen. As a member of the upper class, Higgins had access to chocolates, and taxis, and gold, and diamonds that members of the lower class didn t necessarily have (Shaw 19). • 3. Emily Dickinson Poetry Essay Emily Dickinson s Poetry There is a lot more to poetry than just the words themselves. What William Shakespeare called, the mind s eye also plays a role (Borus34). What that means is that your experiences and thoughts will add to your understanding. Dickinson had an active mind and a style so unique and unusual with her writing. Something that was very unusual about her writing was that she never put a title to her poems. Just like many poets, she used a wide assortment of literary devices such as, metaphor, simile, alliteration, and symbolism. Unlike many writers of her time, Dickinson did not use conventional rhyme, capitalization, or punctuation (Borus36). For example, she would put dashes not just at the end of a line, but also ... When the speaker describes Onset when the King Be witnessed in the Room , (7 8). I feel like the king is being targeted as a symbol of God and death. This is showing connection that the narrator must have a strong belief in religion. This poem is full of sadness, with the narrator stating, I Willed my Keepsakes (9). Making a will is the last and final way of ensuring the narrator s previously owned possessions staying with loved ones after death (Borus62). Most people fear death, the tone of the narrator is merely one of sad acceptance (Borus62). At the moment of the revealing of the narrators will, There interposed a Fly , This is telling us that the fly is again interrupting (12). The fly seems to come across as a noisy fly. Why is it representing as a noisy fly? Why did the fly appear at the end of someone s life and at their last breathe? The description of the fly changes in stanza thirteen as the narrator states, With Blue uncertain stumbling Buzz , thus explaining the fly is no ordinary house fly but a metaphorical figure representing death (Johnson173). I was taught to always have faith, even when the situation seemed terrible. Never did I understand what it was like to actually lean on faith in a situation until it was the only option I had. In the fall of seventh grade I began to act different. I would come home every day after school and sleep for hours until my mom made me get up. Coming from his homeland, Geatland, he arrives in the land of the Danes resolute in helping King Hrothgar defeat an evil monster, Grendel. Beowulf is an impressive, strong warrior who will triumphantly defeat Grendel; moreover, he will demonstrate how one must seek glory before death, a legacy. During the fifth and sixth centuries, the Scandinavian feudal government exercised the honor system of comitatus. Comitatus consisted of thanes pledging their lives to defend their king, in exchange for the king s rewards. These rewards consisted of protection, land, treasure and perchance a title. Beowulf follows this code rigorously and it is what allows him to carry himself with maturity and control when facing any obstacle. As I m looking for something that could squish the eight legged creature from existence I feel this tickle on the back of my leg slowly moving upwards. Knowing what it is, out of instinct I quickly reach down and flick it off me. With A rolled up newspaper I turn around and see that the spider is nowhere to be seen. There are many different approaches to management that a manager might use to help discover any problems and make proper decisions to solve anything that might go wrong. When it comes to contemporary methods there are four ways that a manager might utilize working with people, technology, resources, and the internal and external environments. These include sociotechnical theory, quantitative management, organizational behavior, and systems theory. Also, there are parts of an organizations internal and external environments that may alter the effectiveness of these four contemporary approaches and how a manager might makes decisions. To begin, using the sociotechnical theory approach to management, a manager will recognize the interaction between technology and employees in an internal work environment. When giving the correct knowledge, training, and tools, an employee will effectively produce goods and services that are valued by the consumer. Ultimately, using this type of management creates great teamwork and will give an organization a competitive advantage. The Internet Of Things The Revolutionary Creation The Liberation Of The World Wide Web Gary Kwong 8/11/2014 Dr. Michael Jones CIS 206 Business Software Applications Abstract Much like the telephone or the automobile, the internet has dramatically changed the way people work and live. Unlike the telephone or the automobile, though, the internet has single handedly led to the creation of a relatively free space, where people around the world gather to share ideas, collaborate, mingle, and invent a future with new possibilities that no one knew they needed today. The Leadership Practice Of A Nursing Student As a nursing student, I have had great success forming therapeutic relationships with my clients and have received positive feedback from clinical instructors about my patient communication. However, I experience uncertainty when interacting with peers or colleagues. My lack of confidence translates into difficulty forming effective professional relationships. This assessment is reflected in my Clinical Leadership Survey as a deficit in the leadership practice of Encouraging the Heart. This practice includes behaviors such as recognizing contributions, celebrating accomplishments, and providing feedback (Patrick, Laschinger, Finegan, and Wong, 2011). The results of my baseline survey support the theory that my weakness is in interprofessional communication. Alternatively however, I recorded equal strength of fourteen out of fifteen in the other four leadership practices. Each of these four practices incorporates an element of Emotional Intelligence and reflective practice. Based on my clinical experiences and feedback from instructors, I agree with these results and can identify that interprofessional communication is the skill I must develop to become an effective leader. Personal Strategies Over the Term Throughout this semester, I worked through the Unfreeze and Move stages of Lewin s Force Field Model for change. Similar to the Assessment and Planning steps of the Nursing Process, the Unfreezing stage occurs when the individual identifies a need for change (Kelly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Essay on The Anglican Communion Church Anglicanism is a denomination within Christianity comprising the Church of England and churches which are historically tied to it or have similar beliefs, worship practices and church structures. Anglicans base their faith on the Bible, traditions of the apostolic the concept of apostolic succession, and writings of the Church Fathers. Anglicanism forms one of the branches of Western Christianity, having fully declared its independence from the Holy See at the time of the Elizabethan Religious Settlement. In modern times, the emergence of Anglo Catholic traditions have widely been attributed to the general emphasis of formal worship and resistance to modernisation . Father Dane Elsworth, an Anglican priest in Durban, stated in an interview that the Anglican church has largely been effected by liberal minded people , which he asserts has lead to many losses in terms of liturgical practice. The modern day Anglo Catholic movement can be traced back to the Oxford Movement of the Victorian era. One of the main objectives of the Oxford Movement was the assertion that the Church of England was a divinely founded institution, which adheres to the Apostolic Succession and of the Book of Common Prayer acting as its rule of faith . The prime idea was that Anglicanism was not at all a Protestant denomination, but rather an off shoot of the Catholic Church, together with the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox churches. It was argued by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. What Is Good And Evil In The Prophet Some people believe that poetry is written only by mournful men and women with hate filled and evil behaviors. Khalil Gibran shows us that many other uses of poetry can be used to express ideas on a widely debated topic on good and evil. In William Golding s, Lord of the Flies, and Khalil Gibran, The Prophet, their extremely different views of good and evil are apparent. Golding proclaims that evil is in everyone, and that they are born with it from the beginning. On the other hand, Gibran suggests that everyone is inherently good and born pure, and evil is just being lost or uninspired. First, Golding seems to imply that when the group of boys are evil to begin with. For instance they abandon their civilized ways, they start acting according ... Gibran writes For what is evil but good tortured by its own hunger and thirst? (2) Gibran challenges and raises a new question of whether evil is actually the goodness in you but in a different form. The author of the poem also states that everyone is inherently good from the beginning, and that we should be compassionate to those who are selfish and cruel, for they suffer from greater poverty than the homeless. The author shows us that maybe that good in others it is a flat stream that loses itself in angles and bends and lingers before it reaches the shore. (). This helps people realize not judge when one does what may appear to be wrong or evil , it s just that you re divided and living in your blind world and can t see clear, and not to judge someone too soon.On the other hand, Golding views human nature completely opposite, since the desire to kill and hunt is in all of us rooted in our genome. Maybe [...] there is a beast [...]What I mean is... maybe it s only us. (90 91). There is a large difference between Gibran s view on evil and Golding s view on evil. • 25. The Good Life Of Andrew Carnegie Human nature dictates the necessity of being successful and happy, and to find internal contentment, but what truly defines the good life? Everyone makes decisions about the person they want to be and what is most important to them: Which do you value more, your wealth or your friendships? Do you want to be famous or truly loved? Do you care what people think or are you just trying to please yourself? I think the good life is a combination of everything, and is a fine line that everyone must walk if they want to be truly content. Some people consider freedom the meaning of the good life. Thoreau teaches that the good life is freedom from desire. To have a good life people must be free to make their own choices and mistakes. However, other people have a different opinion about the good life Andrew Carnegie believes people can find the good life through success and wealth. Yet still, others want neither of these, choosing instead to stay innocent with no responsibilities like Adam and Eve, free from decisions and the stresses of everyday life. Another view is Freud s Pleasure Principle that suggests people are interested only in fun and doing whatever they want all the time. Moreover, these people don t want to worry about anything else. I believe the definition of a good life can be described in three simple words, freedom, love, and happiness. Freedom: we should be able to choose where we live, work and what we do with our lives. Love: everyone should know what it feels ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It discusses past years advances made so as to provide progress that has been accomplished in this area of research. There are some challenges in this area which have to be overcome. One of the important challenges is security over cloud network. There are two major categories: security issues faced by cloud providers and security issues faced by customers. The providers must ensure that their infrastructure is secure and clients also ensure that their data and applications are protected over the cloud. The main objective of the review paper is to enhance both the performance as well as the security of mobile cloud computing. This paper presents a review on the background of MCC with characteristics and recent research work. It then analyses the challenges regarding the security of MCC and overcome them by providing an extra layer of encryption which also improves the reliability and privacy. The rest of the paper collects the results and points out some more challenges which are yet to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Prairie Dog Research Paper The Black Tailed Prairie Dog is common to the Great Plains, all the way from Canada to the northern parts of Mexico. The loss of prairie throughout the years has led to a loss in numbers, but they still are around in the Great Plains. The prairie dog lives in areas with short grassland, and they burrow into holes. They dig the holes themselves and leave a big pile of dirt that surrounds their hole. The pile of dirt protects the hole from flooding, and helps them keep a lookout for predators. Their holes range from three to ten feet deep, and about ten feet wide depending on the prairie dog. They make nesting chambers throughout their dens and have a separate spot for the bathroom (Nature Works 1). Prairie dogs have a great burrow system with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 28. Sam Warner s Influence On The Film Industry Sam Warner Sam Warner s influence on cinematography brought the movie industry to where it is now. His story is both inspiring and tragic. As a boy born in hard times to poor parents, Sam Warner overcame all that was working against him. From nothing, he built the foundation for the 127 billion dollar company that Warner Brothers is today. In Baltimore, Maryland, Polish immigrant parents Benjamin and Pearl Warner gave birth to 5 children: Albert, Henry, Samuel, Rose and Fanny. Times were hard for the Warner family and money was scarce. Fanny and Henry both died during childhood. Benjamin created a novel shoe repair while you wait shop which proved to be quite successful for a time. Sending his kids out to run shoe shine stands and ride paper routes, the Warners were starting to get their foot in America s doorway. Benjamin, being the entrepreneur that he was, became a part time traveling salesman for kitchenware and eventually moved to Canada to start a fur trapping business. Things went south after being screwed over by a business partner, and two more children were born in Canada: Jack and David. Now in poverty, the Warners moved back to Baltimore and successfully ... Later, Edison created the Trust, a motion picture company that intimidated the Warners out of the business. Geology also plays a role in the study of the Moon and other solar system objects is primarily the province of astronomy. None of the remarkable scientific advances of the twentieth century revealed with certainty the composition and structure of the Earth s interior (603). However, it was not until this century that nuclear age technology was developed that uses measurements of radioactivity in certain types of rocks to give us ages in numbers of years. These ages, usually called radiometric ages, are used in conjunction with relative dating principles to determine at least an approximate age for most of the world s major rock formations (USGS). Radiometric dating is the determination of age by using radioactivity, has become geology s best tool for establishing absolute geologic time (Shipman, Todd, Wilson 704). The atomic nuclei that decay of their own accord are said to be radioactive. The decay product or daughter nucleus, as it is commonly called may be stable. If so, the transformation reaches completion in a single step. However, the daughter nuclei of many naturally occurring isotopes are themselves radioactive and hence undergo further decay ... • 30. Critical Challenges Facing Black Studies Essay One of the most critical challenges facing Black Studies today is the need to rescue and exercise its right to self definition and self determination with scholarship and vision and to reassess with rigor its original paradigm in both theory and practice (Karenga, p.356). This statement by Maulana Karenga in Black Studies and The Problematic of Paradigm: The Philosophical Dimension brings forth the question from class, how do students and scholars of Africana Studies go about identifying and making sense of their intellectual project? One way we see this being answered is through media, or more specifically film. Living in a society where there is different forms of technology accessible to people in every direction, people become less likely to research and read books about Africana Studies. This form of Method in Africana Studies through film is one of many different ways to go about understanding the complexity of Africana Studies but will come to find out later is still not necessarily being taken seriously or seen by blacks at all. Ava DuVernay, an African American Woman Filmmaker, makes short films featuring black people and different life situations. Her film The Door depicts the power of sisterhood in times of struggle and sadness. Though these are situations women of all different races experience, she chose to use black women and black people in this film and her other films as well, while highlighting the many layers black people have. • 31. Increase of Unemployment in the United Kingdom A political issue that the United Kingdom is currently facing is the increase of unemployment which is positively helping the economy, as a result. The number of citizens not working in the UK decreased by 63,000 to 2.33 million in only three months to January 2014, according to official figures. (BBC) This is clearly a significant current event in UK at the moment because 7.2% of their population is without a job. The unemployment rate in Scotland fell to 6.9%, in Wales it was 6.7% while in Northern Ireland it was 7.5%. (BBC) Interestingly, I found that the Prime Minister David Cameron tweeted: Another significant fall in unemployment is a sign our long term economic plan is working, providing security and chances for hard working people. (BBC) In other words, the rising rate of unemployment is not necessarily a clear indicator of a shattered economy. A large portion of the unemployed are self employed businessmen or entrepreneurs working on their own ventures and have found new ways of producing a steady income within the British economy. Ultimately, the economic history and politics of this nation have been originated by Parliament and are the primary cause for the rapid growth in the business market right now. The United Kingdom was founded in 1707. This is a region which is united from three nations. These nations are England, Wales, and Scotland. • 32. Transcendence and Technology in William Gibson s Neuromancer Transcendence and Technology in Neuromancer Where do we go from here? Case asks near the conclusion of William Gibson s novel Neuromancer (259). One answer suggested throughout most of the narrative is nowhere. True, geographically we are whisked around the urban centers of Earth in the near future, Chiba City, the Sprawl, Istanbul, and then to the orbital pleasure domes and corporate stronghold of Freeside and Straylight. The kind of movement to which I am referring is not overtly physical, though. Neuromancer articulates a motion inward, its attention focused upon subtle interiors; it is implosive rather than expansive, choosing to examine how technology affects the universe of self, individual consciousness, rather than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With this increasingly sophisticated technology, with the ability to remake the world and ourselves, Case s question resonates self consciously: where do we go from here? Neuromancer presents technology in an accelerating culture as a potent force capable of facilitating escape, immersion, destruction, and even transcendence of self without glamorizing or demonizing technology itself. Perhaps, in this manner, Gibson is able to posit more than one viable answer to this paralyzing (peculiarly postmodern) question. As the gap between present and future grows smaller and becomes difficult to discern, people and machines overlap and, in some cases, are indistinct or interchangeable. If we move even twenty minutes into the future (a la Max Headroom [1985]), as Larry McCaffrey states, we will encounter a world...unimaginably transformed... (9). In this environment, where whole bodies of technique are supplanted monthly , the soft flesh of the human body becomes a deliberately unsupervised playground for technology itself (Neuromancer 4,11). Some cybernetic implants, Molly s mirrorshaded eyes, her retractable razor claws, the brain sockets built to accept microsofts, software allowing instant access to and mastery of entire worlds of knowledge and skills, offer the promise of heightened, seemingly superhuman, physical and/or mental abilities.
