The Creators Of Salt Of The Earth
The creators of Salt of the Earth had a consciousness of radical activism (Aptheker 2015). Paul
Jarrico, Michael Wilson, and Herbert J. Biberman made connections between the Cold War anti union
sentiment and what was happening in the lives of the community at Hanover, New Mexico (Balthasar
353). Salt fuses the antiracist, anti imperialist sensibility...with the central popular front icon and
narrative form the strike tale. In this sense Salt is not simply an expansion of a 1930s political
aesthetic; it is the fulfillment of it (Balthasar 356). This included thinking about how different forms
of oppression impact people. Their final film implicitly critiques the United States imperialist policies
and treatment of minority groups (Balthasar 355), a dangerous move in the era of high tensions due to
the red scare. This, along with affiliations with the Hollywood Anti Nazi League (HANL) made them
targets of the United States government (Balthasar 354). Their careers had been destroyed, since no
one wanted to make themselves a target of the U.S. by being friendly with people that were accused of
being communists, and their film was blacklisted. The leading actress, Rosaura Revualtas, who had
already radically starred in what is recognized as the first lesbian film (Aptheker), also faced
punishment for starring in Salt. Though she was here legally, participation in the film was grounds for
her deportation. Furthermore, she was banned from acting in Mexico (Aptheker). Clint

Cryptanalysis In World War II
Thesis: The application of Cryptanalysis in World War II was imperative to both Allied intelligence
efforts and success of Allied Powers during the Battle of the Atlantic.
Citation: Rielage, Dale C. 2002. Indirectly in Operational Signals . Naval History16, no. 6: 31. History
Reference Center, EBSCOhost (accessed November 16, 2016).
Annotation: Rielage argues that due to Ultra intelligence finally being used to allow for an offensive
front in the Atlantic in regards to U boats, much success was had. He backs up this statement citing
Admiral Karl Donitz, who stated that the U boat losses which were thirteen percent before the use of
Ultra for an offensive front in the Atlantic quickly rose to thirty to fifty percent. He also acknowledges

Deutsch reveals that both sides suffered failures and had successes and each had to face difficulties
with cryptanalysis. He explains that the German navy s Heimisch or Hydra, codenamed Dolphin by
Bletchley Park, broken from 1942 onwards, and Triton, codenamed Shark, broken periodically and
sometimes for protracted periods of time, were both harder to crack in comparison to the Enigma
cipher, and therefore were only as useful as the frequency to which they were broken. I will use this
source to further correlate cryptanalysis during the Battle of the Atlantic and the success the allies
encountered due to this. This source gives a great explanation as to what the capture of German code

How Did The Enlightenment Influence Today
The Age of Reason came after the baroque age, when the people started the believe knowledge lead to
power. The new idea that knowledge was the key to success, along with other new ideas started a
movement called the Enlightenment. All of the new ways of thinking that started the Enlightenment
are the base for the ideas we have today. The Enlightenment took place during the time America was
part of the British colonies and the French were having a Revolution. New religions were also
produced from the Age of Reason and influence the United States of America today. The
Enlightenment brought the idea that one needed to be educated about the world around them, and that
still stands today. The Enlightenment had other trends, such as the middle ... Show more content on

The King had trouble keeping power, even with his horrible threats the people wanted power and the
Enlightenment made it possible for them to have power. The young King was one of the many
problems in France. The Kings immaturity influenced his reign, he let his lovers decide what was best
for the country instead of making the decision himself. Salons were made to have dinner at while
conversing with respected individuals. Women who opinion usually did not matter was more respected
in the salons as they were run by women. France had a crippling government and other countries
wanted to take advantage of them, forcing them into The Seven Years War. The colonies in North
America were taken by the British, so when the colonies fought for freedom in the American
Revolutionary War, France aided the colonies. France had a Revolution after the country became
finically unstable from it efforts in the American Revolution. The Revolution was led by the middle,
and lower working class. The working class had them most success when they murdered the King and
restored Christianity. The French Revolution was different than the American because they gave the
right to vote the all males of all races. Great Britain was the ideal place for Philosophers to thrive
because it was more stable than France. Great Britain also had a young and inexperienced King and
one allowed parliament the power to rule the country. The

Legal Analysis Of Contract Case Study
CONTRACT ANALYSIS 8 Running Head: CONTRACT ANALYSIS 1 Legal Analysis of Contract
Case Study Rachelle Sepich Liberty University Summary of Contractual Issue Marshall and I have an
existing business relationship in that I manufacture and supply products that Marshall needs.
Generally, the relationship has gone well except for Marshall?s late payments from time to time.
Astoundingly, Marshall prepared a contract which was presented as a technicality intended for
documentation of commitment between our companies to continue doing business with one another
(Kubasek et al., 2016, p. 249). Marshall provided this substantive unconscionability contract to my
son with undue influence in his assertions (Kubasek et al., 2016, p. 251). It?s ... Show more content on

making the contract a ?binding agreement? (Kubasek et al., 2016, pp. 193 194). That said, what does
the law mean when that contract is signed by a minor? Or better yet, what does the Bible say about
honoring commitments for the believer and unbeliever? ?As a general rule, parents are not liable for
the contracts entered into by their minor children? (Kubasek et al., 2016, p. 226). Cercel and Scurtu
advised civil law regulates that there is limited legal capacity of minors between 14 and 18 years of
age given the assumed insufficient psychological magnitude to exercise legal rights (Cercel, S.,
Scurtu, S., 2015). Despite the fact that my son was turning 18 soon and irrespective of Marshall?s
awareness to my son?s age, my son was only 17 and was not authorized to act on my behalf. Marshall
misrepresented the importance and neglected to expound upon the legal ramifications before
executing an agreement with my son. First, grossly minimizing that his contract would be a formality
and implying that I was aware of the terms and conditions disclosed. As an unbeliever, I can only
assume that he either intended to deceive or has no appreciation for the impact his words would have
had on my son. Third, implementing such an agreement would force an unjustified and indefinite
reliance to work together. Lastly, an agreement of this nature would impede my ability to do business
(i.e. sell my company to avoid loss of customers and imminent

Children with Learning Disabilities Essay
Children with Learning Disabilities Do you know anyone who suffers from a learning disability?
There are several disabilities out there, so chances are you must know someone who battles with the
day to day hassles. But, are learning disabilities really a hassle? More often than not, this can be
considered a misconception. Learning disabilities (LD) affect the way a person of at least average
intelligence receives, stores, and processes information (NCLD 2001). This neurological disorder
prevents children especially from being able to perform well academically. Therefore more time and
special programs are fostered to them. Once one is educated about what the disability means, the
causes of LD, what programs are available to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Understanding a foreign language is also not one of their strong points. A child with a learning
disability does not perform well on tests, especially when they are timed, often refuses to do written
work, and has trouble decoding words. This usually means that they have trouble hearing and
understanding a person s directions since they cannot decode the message properly. (Silverman) Of the
three previously mentioned diseases, Dyslexia impairs a person s ability to read, write, and spell
(NINDS 2003). Although they are of normal intelligence, their reading level is below average. They
will usually have trouble with phonological processing (the manipulation of sounds) and/or rapid
visual verbal responding. (NINDS 2003). Children with dyslexia complain they cannot read their
textbooks, do not have enough time to finish tests, cannot take notes, and are unable to read their own
handwriting (GVSU 2000). Dyslexia does not affect every person the same way, and signs of the
disorder may not be prevalent until later, when grammar and more in depth writing skills are
introduced. Dyslexia can also create a difficulty in processing vocabulary and thoughts correctly when
speaking, and understanding what one says when they are spoken to. Dysgraphia is another
neurological disorder that focuses on writing. When a child with this disorder is first introduced to
writing, they will make unnecessary spaces between their letters, and some letters will be

Judging Young Goodman Brown
The short story Young Goodman Brown, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, accurately bestows all aspects of an
allegory. According to Merriam Webster, an allegory is a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted
to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one. Through this work, Hawthorne is able
to depict the apparent hypocrisy in today s world and especially in religion in America. The story is of
a man, Young Goodman Brown, who is highly tempted by the devil himself and in the end caves to
the pressure due to his lack of faith and even due to a little curiosity. Brown could not help but wonder
what this new world could potentially behold for him; unfortunately, his curiosity didn t change him
for the better, only for the worse. The ceremony and changing opened his eyes and made him see the
true colors of those around him. We see how Brown loses faith in the people in his community, his
family, and especially in himself. We first see Browns opinion on those around him when he shows up
to the ceremony in the woods and thinks that It was strange to see that the good shrank not from the
wicked, nor were the sinners abashed by the saints. (Hawthorne 1128). This is when Brown first
realizes that some of the people he believes complete saints truly weren t, but rather were sinners in
disguise. It was said that when Brown first came onto the streets after the ceremony, he

Globalization has only exuburated the gap betweern the Western world and developing countries;
nations such as the US, and Britian continue to grow, while progress in these the third world are

African nations face are a result of Africa s long and corrupt history, starting with colonization of
Africa by the west. The colonization of Africa led to the formation of independent African states. This

Analysis Of The Road By Cormac Mccarthy
A man and a boy trudge along the road in a desolate, crumbling world. Everything that once was has
diminished, and hope for the future is bleak. All that s left to do in this dystopian world is to survive.
Cormac McCarthy s The Road, follows the journey of a father and son clinging to life after a series of
catastrophic events. Together they must salvage any remaining food and other necessities they need to
sustain themselves. Day in day out, the pair trek down the road, hoping to reach the sea and find some
beacon of life. However, their slim hopes vanquish when they reach their destination and find nothing
but traces of death and destruction. The Man and The Boy continue their aimless journey along the
road, emaciated and barely alive, but still unwilling to give up on life. McCarthy stripes down all the
traditional elements of literature and forms a simplistic novel, leaving the story naked, just like the
setting in his post apocalyptic, The Road. Despite numerous scholars who insist Cormac McCarthy s
pen richly doused The Road with symbolism and metaphors, McCarthy straightforwardly intended his
novel to simply be a story about a man and a boy traveling along a road. In fact, McCarthy carefully
constructed his novel in a bare, stripped down form to ...mirror the world it describes (Hobby). With
special attention to detail, Cormac McCarthy rebirthed the traditional novel and gave life to a creation
of his own. Despite over analyzers of The Road, his intentions were not to develop a probing novel,
but to take elaborate techniques and form a simple story. In a 2007 Book Club interview with Oprah
Winfrey, McCarthy disclosed, Oh it s just a boy and a man on the road. You can obviously draw
conclusions...depending on your taste. It s a pretty simple story I think (Lincoln 163).
In The Road, McCarthy utilizes basic sentence structure and phrasing to emphasize the simplicity of
the novel. Not only does he rely on his uncomplex style, but the use of fragmented sentences as well.
One example of the novel s plethora of fragments is, The segments of road down there among the
dead trees. Looking for anything of color. Any movement. Any trace of standing smoke (McCarthy 4).

Islamic Observation Paper
For this ritual project, I decided to observe the ritual of going to mosque and performing their prayers.
The reason I decided to choose an Islamic practice for this project was in part because of the recent
increase in Islamophobia both in the States and in Canada. I was also very interested to maybe observe
some of the differences and similarities in Islamic practices compared to Christian practices as I have
grown up in a very traditional Christian (Pentecostal) household and have never really had the
opportunity to experience, first hand, a religious ceremony foreign to my own. Additionally, when
going to the mosque for this ritual, I had my best friend, Kimia, come with me as she grew up in a
Muslim household and has attended mosque ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regarding performativity, the first thing in this ritual that I both observed and had to take part in was
the wearing of the scarf over my head. This could be seen as a costume required by this ritual which
was followed by only the women. There were also specific musical cues spoken that indicated what
position had to be assumed and when. In terms of performativity, this could possibly be referred to as
a performative speech act if the words have the power to change something in the current state. There
was almost a role that was taken on by all the people engaging in the ritual. As soon as they walked in
the room, and even after the ritual was over, there was a sense of solemnness and reverence that
people exhibited while in that space. When it comes to liminality, this whole ritual exhibited a process
that could be categorized under the three stages of liminality; separation, transition and incorporation.
From the very beginning the ritual began with two distinct forms of separation. As we entered the
building we were separating ourselves from society and entering a space in which people of a shared
community came to participate in a ritual. Not only were we separated from society by entering the
building, but we were also separated from the men that were a part of this ritual. Additionally, this
stage of separation was also seen and experienced physically through the process of putting on the
scarf on our heads. This scarf magnified the weight of the separation of sexes because now there was a
tangible marker of what we signified in this process. While the men resided in a larger room, the
women were kept in a much smaller room in the back. The process of transition is a bit harder to
solidify because there does not seem to be a set point in the ritual where a profound change occurs, but
rather the process of the movements itself works together as part of

today s people have the right mind set that luxury products are purposeful and well thought out. In
other words, they want to show off their wealth and personal status.
Main Forces The Macroenvironment Facing The Luxury Brand Industry
Analysing the macroenvironment facing the luxury brand industry, there are demographic forces,
economic forces, cultural forces and technological forces.
1) Demographic Forces

Everything we use nowadays exists because of the technology. Luxury Fashion Branding (Okonkwo,
2007, p.179) indicated the impact of the internet on the luxury brand industry is mind blogging and it
could change consumer behaviour and the way the company operated.
Technology introduced us with the internet, internet banking, credit card and online shopping. The
online shopping become very popular since the consumer only needs a few clicks and a few minutes
to buy the desire brands.
As a result, E retail has become the essential sales channel for the luxury brands to sell their products
online. Clearly, both the consumers and the luxury brands have a lot of benefits because of the
technology. Providing up to date information, customers can save time not to visit many outlets when
they want to get something, can make the products comparison at home and they also feel very
convenient and trustworthy to shop online are a few benefits consumers can enjoy because of the
technology.
Factors Influencing The Increase In Younger Consumers Interest In Luxury Products
The main factor that greatly influences young people s interest in luxury brands is Internet.
Nowadays most of the young people are wasting almost half day of their time on the internet. The first
thing they do in the morning is the checking their Facebook profile or email. That is the proved that

Policing in Regards to Race, Gender and Ethnicity
In the United States the issue of Policing in regards to race, gender and ethnicity has been an ongoing
reform in which state and local legislatures have been dealing with as of recent years. Although there
have been legislation on equal opportunity, the primary significance in promoting equality has been
the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The Civil Rights Act is a federal legislation, which in part bars
discrimination based on race or gender. Employers from local and state agencies are all affected by
this legislation. To enforce and see that the legislation is carried out accordingly, the government
created the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. However, prior to the Civil Rights Act, we
take a look back into the historical overview of policing within the United States. Policing in America
is a transplant of English heritage policing model. During the early colonial times, formal police
departments had yet to have been created. Over time outbreak social disorder and crime erupted
causing for a more formal police to model. Formal policing model began to arise in the late 1800 s and
leaders at the time attempted to reduce control of the police by politicians. As the 20th century rolled
in, the focus began to latch closely on the thought of policing to be an actual professional force.
Ultimately, as time progressed so did reforms to change the directive of police department policies.
The reforms came at a time where police officers

Cuvette Synthesis
Determining the concentration of an unknown dye and preparing an absorption spectrum for a known
substance.
Introduction
During this experiment the main equipment used was a spectrophotometer and a micropipette to
achieve relevant results. Selecting a specific wavelength of visible light (390 770nm) on the
spectrophotometer, the photons pass through the cuvette and are picked up by a photodetector which
calculates the absorbance of the substance which was transferred from the source to the cuvettes using
a micropipette. This is done using Beer Lambert law A=lc (A=absorbance absorption coefficient
l=path length c=concentration), from this I was able to draw a calibration curve and an absorption
spectrum which allowed me to achieve my aim ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The micropipettes possibly did not release the exact volume of solution into the cuvette that was
required this can influence the final results greatly as a higher/lower volume would mean a
higher/lower level of absorption. This limitation can be removed next time by using more
sophisticated pipettes. Moreover, another limitation was that the cuvettes were not cleaned properly
and possibly had finger prints on the surface. When inserting such a cuvette into the
spectrophotometer the light photons would get absorbed by the finger prints and not the solution
giving a lower final absorption for that specific concentration. In the future to remove this limitation
the surface of the cuvettes should be cleaned properly and to make sure to not hold the cuvette by the
cleaned surface when transferring it to the spectrophotometer.
In conclusion this investigation highly increased my knowledge on the use of spectrophotometer and
other lab techniques and as a first timer the final result of 39% which was 6% off the expected value
was not bad. I believe that for next time if all the limitations I stated are taken care off, then the value
of 45% is easily

Heart Of Darkness Cynicism
Heart of Cynicism Joseph Conrad adopts a realist perspective with focus on human purpose, greed,
and prejudice in the novella, Heart of Darkness. As Marlow sets off on his own personal odyssey deep
into the heart of darkness, encountering several different pessimistic characters, most notably Kurtz,
who are inherently flawed in personality or just off putting. Just like Nietzsche s comment about the
abyss, Conrad also shows that with exposure to the darkness, it s human nature to eventually embrace
that darkness and sacrifice your own humanity. First of all, as Marlow explains with his near death
experience, he assigns death the metaphor of stepping over a threshold (Conrad 415), essentially
describing that death is close and can come ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Firestone s An Civil War
Firestone, a tire production company, who owns a base in Liberia got into a predicament on morality
issues. The controversy was over whether or not it was right to continue deploying their workers to
Liberia after war crimes were committed there. During the time Firestone started up its operation of
rubber collecting in Liberia, an ongoing civil war between a rebel force led by Charles Taylor and the
Liberian president at the time, Samuel Doe, interfered with their operation. At first the company had
withdrawn from the crossfire of the war, but soon realized they needed to return due to Firestone s
financial decline. When returning, the tire company had to work under Taylor s stringent rules that
resulted in issues such as the safety of their workers at the Firestone plantation and the exploitation of
workers. The problem with this was that Firestone s primary intention was to return and make a profit,
not taking the lives and opinions of their workers into consideration. Firestone s action was immoral
leading to accepting the abuse and exploitation of their workers on the necessity of making a profit.
Firestone s decision to return back to Liberia after leaving it for the first time was an iniquitous move
on their behalf. Not only did they work under Taylor s imposed rules leading to cruel treatment of
their workers, but had also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Taylor. This agreement
allowed for Firestone to work in Liberia but in a secret business partnership

`` Goodbye, Earl `` By Dennis Linde And Performed By The...
Set in the American South, the song Goodbye, Earl, written by Dennis Linde and performed by the
Dixie Chicks, is a comedic story of vengeance and retribution. Best friends throughout high school,
Wanda and Mary Anne part ways after graduation, but eventually meet back up to murder Earl, the
abusive husband of Wanda. Using double entendres, strong imagery, and a light tone, Linde and the
Dixie Chicks conveyed the strength of Southern women through their song, but also created
controversy with a divisive music video. By naming one of the characters Mary Anne, the writer
immediately evokes a sense of Southern lineage. Almost unheard of in other regions, double names
are incredibly popular in the American south. On the other hand, the name Wanda etymologically
means a Wend. While Mary Anne had been the one out of the two to physically leave after graduation
lookin for a bright new world, Wanda wends all around town and stumbles upon Earl. In this aspect,
Wanda does not choose to be in an abusive relationship she falls into it.
Additionally, the song mentions that both women were members of the 4H club and active members in
the FFA. Both of these organizations are well known youth development groups with academic
advancement and leadership goals. Placing a great importance on community activism, Southern
women are expected to be active participants in the community and at school. Differing in life goals,

Overcome such perceptions by sitting closer, leaning forward, giving a comforting pat on the shoulder,
or other gestures that indicate an interest in the patient.
Ask about their life (family, friends, and work) and share life stories and pictures. Converse with all of
the family members present, but be respectful of gender.
Do not give an impression of being too familiar, however. Make personal notes in medical records to
cue other providers of family names or special events to discuss during another visit.
Encourage the asking of questions
Out of a sense of respeto, many Hispanic patients will avoid disagreeing with or expressing doubts to
their health care provider about the treatment they are receiving. They may be reluctant to ask
questions or admit they are confused about instructions or treatment. There is a cultural taboo against
expressing negative feelings directly. This taboo may manifest itself in a patient s withholding
information, not following treatment orders, or terminating medical care.

Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra
On September 30th, I had the pleasure of attending the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at the Fisher
Auditorium. We walked in quietly to the back row of our section because the show had already
started, so it would have been rude to walk up to where our actual seats were. As we took our seats the
orchestra sat up there in the beautiful auditorium dressed in their all black formal attire holding their
various instruments including the woodwinds, strings, brass, and percussions. The orchestra was in the
middle of playing Symphony No. 8 in F major, Opus 93. This symphony included 5 compositions that
were all very similar to each other. In most of the compositions they took the audience on a roller
coaster ride. The rhythm of the compositions would

Vaccines Are Safe And Safe Today
In the world today, we are exposed to all kinds of germs and disease, these germs and disease can
cause all kind of harm on to humans. Throughout history there has been epidemic of deadly viruses all
around the world. As a species, we have developed a way to prevent disease and viruses though
vaccines or immunizations. The Idea of Vaccine have bee a major challenged to public health over the
last century. But like any type of medication, there are going to be both pros and cons. Recently there
has been cause for concern for vaccination children. The concern steams from the belief if vaccines
are safe today. There are also a great number of wonderful aspects to vaccines. The Question today is
whether vaccines are safe and if they way they are researched are the most effective. This paper will
be looking at the 21st Century Cure Act and how it could change the way vaccines are creates and
provided to the public.

Hitler Vs Mussolini
Another significant factor of the similarities that these two leaders shared was their desire of absolute
power. After the collapse of the democratic parliament which was soon replaced by Hitler and
Mussolini s dictatorships, both leaders thought that once gained power, the parties which helped them
obtain such power would not have taken control of it and especially that they would not have
surrendered to their own parties. They were determined that the power was only theirs and one way of
showing it was by expanding their territories throughout foreign countries. In 1930 Mussolini started
growing his power in North Africa, in the Balkan peninsula and throughout the Mediterranean
occupying places such as Greece, Malta, Nice and Tunisia. While ... Show more content on

He had the idea that women s only job was to have kids, cook and be dedicated to religion. For
instance, he defined women as Kinder, Küche and Kirche which means Children, Kitchen and

fact that many of Hitler s principles were not comparable to Mussolini s ones. The biggest difference
between them is the fact that most Italian fascists were against racism and against Hitler s anti Semitist
ideologies. Their main concentration was towards the supremacy of the State, while the Nazi s one
was the race. The Aryans, from Hitler s point of view, represented the highest form of human race.
Whereas Jews, Africans and people who had different human identities such as homosexuals and the
handicap were identified as a threat and as a dark and powerful human kind. Hitler thought that the
only way to dominate and destroy these races was through the strength of the three myths. The first
one known as the Reich regarded the Aryan race, the second myth identified as the Volk indicated
people of different social classes and the last one called Fuhrer was a nickname given to the leader of

The Importance Of The Viet Cong
Having witnessed the situation months before the evacuation of Saigon, It s hard to believe that
everything went pear shaped so quickly. But, the evidence is clear, the Viet Cong were in fact the
superior force in this war, and I suppose we should all be thankful that our forces were withdrawn
early.
However, I am not here to praise the Communist party of Vietnam. It is my firm belief that the
Americans should have won this war, and that Vietnam should never have been divided in the first
place, as this gave them the power to reclaim their land, piece by piece.
The people of Vietnam have become overconfident, and believe that they are entitled to claim their

Arguments Against Pseudonyms
The ever increasing amount of people utilizing the internet as a means of communication has led to
many interesting phenomena. One that can be easily observed on many online forums is the use of
pseudonyms instead of actual names. The ability to utilize pseudonyms when creating online profiles
allows people to protect their identities, enabling them to freely voice their opinions without fear of
retaliation. When browsing through online comment sections and social media, it is common to come
across people writing under pseudonyms. The reasons for using an alias can be many; while there are
people that utilize online anonymity as a way of shielding their personal life from internet backlash,
others choose to abuse anonymity in order to spew ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the article Online Anonymity Protects Marginalized Groups, the author argues that online
anonymity is used by marginalized groups to preserve their privacy. The venues the author refers to
are the social networks Facebook and Google Plus, which have real name policies that forbid the use
of pseudonyms (Boyd, par. 7). The author attempts to answer if said policies protect users or if they
increase user vulnerability. She states that the stakeholders in this issue are those most affected by
prohibiting pseudonyms and nicknames, the vulnerable and marginalized members of society such as
abuse survivors, activists, LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender] people, women, and young
people (Boyd, par. 3). The values attached to the issue are those of safety, as people often utilize
pseudonyms to preserve their physical and mental health, as well as that of their families (Boyd, par.
2). Boyd is against the enforcement of real name policies because it exposes those who need
protection, arguing that you don t guarantee safety by stopping people from using pseudonyms, but
you do undermine people s safety by doing so (Boyd, par. 11). The author concludes that enforcing
real names policies in online spaces is an abuse of power (Boyd, par. 12). The solution she presents is
simply not enforcing real name

We Both Reach For The Gun Analysis
In 1975, Chicago became a Broadway hit due to the work of Bob Fosse, John Kander and Fred Ebb.
Ebb created the lyrics and also worked with Fosse to write the book, while Kander created the music.
Chicago portrays a theme that celebrity statuses corrupt judicial system. The idea of celebrity
criminals appears throughout the musical as the girls fight for attention in press in order to help win
their trial. Mamma Morton clearly says (33 minutes into the movie) Murder is a form of entertainment
here and the musical proves that statement true. The most dominant example of celebrity criminals
gaining the favor of the public eye is when Roxie makes up her entire life story. Billy Flynn asks her
questions about her past, like where she was born or where her parents are, only to completely change
her answers. The song We Both Reached for the Gun showcases that Flynn acts more like a publicist
than a lawyer. Roxie s entire life was made up and told to the press so she could appeal innocent and
make the public take sympathy on her. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the start of the musical, all of the attention in the media is on Velma Kelly because she was a
celebrity before she was arrested. The attention then shifts to Roxie and leaves Velma feeling

the motive that maybe more attention will shift back to her. As soon as there is a new murder in the
city the attention of the media shifts, yet again, and this time away from Roxie and Velma. In pursuit
of attention, Roxie faints and then starts the rumor that she is pregnant in hopes the court could never
kill a pregnant woman. Mamma Morton understands the idea that fame benefits the girls on trial, so
she takes bribes in order to help them get publicity. As a jail supervisor, she is a representation of the

The absorption of light by normal bilirubin (4Z,15Z bilirubin) results in the creation of 2 isomeric
forms of bilirubin: structural isomer (Z lumirubin) and configurational isomer (4Z,15 E bilirubin).
Both these structural and configurational isomers of bilirubin have substantially different chemical
and light absorption properties than bilirubin, are less lipophilic than normal bilirubin and can be
excreted into bile without undergoing glucuronidation in the liver. The absorption of light by bilirubin
also results in the generation of excited state bilirubin molecules that react with oxygen to produce
colorless oxidation, or photooxidation products. The rate of formation of bilirubin photoproducts is
highly dependent on the intensity and wavelengths of the light used (13). The most efficient
wavelength for the isomerization of bilirubin is approximately 450 nm, whether applied to the fluid
samples for testing or the treatment of jaundice. Wavelengths that fall within the range of 400 nm 500
nm, and more specifically 445 nm 475 nm are known to effect isomerization (14). The blue lights are
chosen for light emission wavelengths of approximately 450 to 530 nm, which is the optimal range of
light absorption for bilirubin. In contrast, the optimal range of light absorption for

Analysis Of The Article One Hundred Years Of Solitude,...
The article One Hundred Years of Solitude, Indigenous Myth, and Meaning by Jay Corwin argues that
the key elements of the story are the parallels with Colombian mythologies and not the Old Testament,
which has been mostly exclusively Western (Corwin 112). Jay Corwin states Disambiguation of the
novel s re creation of authentic Colombian mythologies and rituals may lead to a clearer
understanding of the novel s themes and ultimately its meanings, thus clarifying its implicit criticism
of the rejection of identity (Corwin 112). To understand the novel, Corwin does an effective job on
explaining the parallels with Colombian myths, so that the readers could understand the criticism of
One Hundred Years of Solitude.
Corwin started his article by mentioning the initial critical reception of the suggested parallels
between the novel and the Old Testament which is obvious because the myths are widely known in the
West (Corwin 112). He continues with that the fixed devotion to the Biblical versions of creation,
flight, and destruction in other interpretations only talk about the parallels between the Old Testament
and One Hundred Years of Solitude were indirect and lengthy, also had unnecessary hidden messages
(Corwin 112 113). Corwin wants his audience to know that the novel is not similar to the Old
Testaments than first critically analyzed. The other interpretations are pointless and are not telling
everything upfront.

Unintended Consequences In The Bible And The Tower Of Babel
The Old Testament depicts sin and unintended consequences with stories, like The Tower of Bible and
the Golden Calf. Neither story illustrates direct sin or disobedience, however, they do show God s way
of punishment for sin and disobedience, with a touch of irony. The Old Testament utilizes these stories
as teachings that can be seen as rise and fall, or sin before punishment through the law of unintended
consequences. The Tower of Babel, a story in Genesis 11, is centered on a community that want to
become more unified and create a good name for themselves. The people in the community were very
smart and did not face many obstacles, and since they felt unmatched they want to create something
that would set them apart from all other men. Their scheme to accomplish this goal was to erect a

The Dance Rehearsal And Swing Class
When I observed the dance rehearsal and technique classes, I saw interesting and informative
keynotes. The technique class that I went to was a Beginning Lindy and Swing class. The rehearsal
class that I watched was a Choreography Three class. Even if the two types of dance classes were very
different, they still had little bits and pieces that were similar and incorporated important concepts that
coincided with both of the two classes. Before this class, I had never seen a Beginning Lindy and
Swing technique class before, nor a Choreography Three class. In general, I had never seen an
instructor so passionate about expressing and teaching their craft to their students.
I chose to observe the Beginning Lindy and Swing class first and foremost, because it was the only
class that I could watch that did not overlap with my personal and academic schedule. The second
reason why I chose this class was because, I had the notion that this genre of dance class would be
interesting and historical to watch. This dance is also bold and pungent to look at. This style of class is
interesting because the dance choreography has multiple kicks and jumps which are repeated
consecutively throughout the performance. The reason I choose to watch the choreography three class
is because I wanted to see the students design their own choreography, and observe how it presented
cohesively to the audience.
In the technique class I expected to see male and female students in Lindy shoes and wearing

A Report On Energy Efficiency
Abstract: Energy efficiency (EE) is an important objective in uplink wireless communications due to
the limited capacity of batteries in user equipment (UE). Consider the scenario in which the access
point (AP) serves a subset of UEs when available resources cannot support all of the UEs quality of
service (QoS) requirements. In this project, propose a scheduling metric to balance the tradeoff
between EE and fairness. Based on the scheduling metric, propose a suboptimal joint scheduling and
resource allocation algorithm and a power allocation algorithm that maximizes the system EE.
Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve a good tradeoff between the system
EE and fairness.
I.INTRODUCTION The booming demand for wireless applications and the relatively low battery
capacity in UE puts a premium on achieving high EE. With the growing popularity of green
communications, EE is becoming increasingly important. Previous work on energy efficient resource
allocation in OFDMA systems has mainly focused on downlink scenarios. Due to constraints on
individual UEs and the discrete nature of sub channel assignment uplink energy efficient resource
allocation is less tractable. In an uplink allocation algorithm is described to maximize the minimum
EE among all users.
In order to maximize the total EE of all UEs under individual power and rate constraints for the UEs
an efficient suboptimal algorithms are proposed.

Love, Care, And Treat People With Respect From A Very...
I was taught to love, care, and treat people with respect from a very young age. When I was a young
girl, my mom would take me with her to work. At the time, she worked at an assisted living center in
Rome, Georgia. You see, I was a very quiet and curious child who observed the world innocently with
bright, untainted eyes. I didn t care much to be around the other children who were usually loud and
somewhat bothersome, but I enjoyed being around adults. So when my mom would take me with her,
the elderly people living there found much joy in having my company. I would sit and listen to them
tell me all sorts of stories from their past for hours on end, but I loved to hear about them. In a way, I
somehow understood that these people were lonely and only had so much time left. They just wanted
someone who could appreciate them and what they had to say; they wanted to feel like they were of
some importance and had a sense of meaning. I cared greatly about what they had to say, even though
I didn t understand it that much. More importantly, I cared about their feelings and wellbeing. I can
still remember at least two of my mom s patients. One was a man named Lou, and I believe he wore a
prosthetic leg. He was a very sweet and dear old man who loved the outdoors. My mom would bring
him outside in the mornings to watch the birds and to get some fresh, crisp, morning air. He had

Douglas Rushkoff Time Ain T Money Analysis

that is straightforward to address the views of CEO s, and how they run their companies. Rushkoff
designed this essay with specific sections intentional written in a certain order to communicate his
message clearly. Throughout these ideas Rushkoff creates a key term to further express his idea. In the
essay, Rushkoff uses a word, presentism , which he made up to describe the process of how, society is

Stocks and trades also come into play with the idea of presentism, in how the investors in society are
focused on the quick and fast trades versus investments and waiting for a profit. They whined when a

the next hour (Rushkoff 115). Rushkoff has noticed how our society has become increasingly
impatient which is a drastic change from 10 or 20 years ago. Customers want their packages as soon

Health Insurance And The Health Care System
According to Martocchio (2014), health insurance covers the costs of a variety of services that
promote sound physical and mental health, including physical examinations, diagnostic testing,
surgery, dental treatments, and corrective prescription lenses for vision deficiencies. More than two
centuries ago, the presence of the health care system emerged when mining and railroad companies
hired doctors to provide medical services to their employees. As a result of the catastrophic World War
I, many health providers were left providing services with the prospect of not receiving payments for
the services being rendered and many Americans faced with the financial burdens of these escalating
health care costs. The essential for the development of a health care system was not established for no
apparent reason. The health care system was developed due to the staggering number of Americans
whom where unable to pay soaring medical bills.
With no government intervention, the private sector of health insurance was established as a means for
Americans to pay medical expenses. In 1927, the American Medical Association (AMA) formed a
Committee on the Costs of Medical Care to report on options for helping Americans pay for their
medical services. The Committee concluded that private insurance was the best solution ( HNN s
History of Healthcare Reform , 2012). This empirical succession is what commenced the evolution of
health care in the United States.

A Balanced View Of Gaming And Social Behavior
A balanced view of Gaming and Social Behavior Video games are the single largest new source of
media consumption. 91% of children in the United States between the ages of 2 and 17 play video
games (NPD Group). Playing videogames is far more evenly distributed than portrayed in movies and
television. A nationally representative study of teenagers in the United States found that up to 99% of
boys and 94% of girls partake in some form of videogames (Lenhart et al, 2008). This massive new
trend has led many to speculate and analyze the effect videogames might have on their player s social
behavior. Many have studies have correlated gaming with short term aggression. However, almost no
one has looked for potential benefits that playing games might have. A small portion of gaming
behavior research has begun to bring to light several benefits of engaging in modern videogames. A
changing landscape of both content, and engagement requires that researches reevaluate their methods
of study regarding behavior and gaming. The clear majority of studies aimed at finding a relationship
between videogames and behavior have been focused on negative impacts. Media coverage of mass
shootings often highlight if the gunman played violent videogames. The fact that the Sandy Hook
shooter played video games was referenced when Congress allocated $10 million for research into
videogames and violence (Obama Biden, 2013). These studies have produced valuable findings, but

Betrayal In The Girl On The Train By Paula Hawkins
I woke feverish, panicky. Guilty. I do feel guilty. Just not guilty enough (Hawkins. 56). Betrayal, a
word defined as an act of deliberate disloyalty, can be found as being the central theme of the novel
The Girl on the Train written by Paula Hawkins. This novel creates a plotline nothing short of a
betrayal. The following will be an analysis of the novel, a story written about three women. Rachel,
the girl on the train. Megan, the girl who is being watched by the girl on the train, and Anna, the girl
who stole the girl on the train s life. This will show the events based on a betrayal and dishonesty
point of view and will be analyzed through the following literary devices: symbolism, tone, and mood
as well as, foreshadowing and flashbacks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of the acts of betrayal throughout the novel are based upon the subject of children. In fact, four
out of the seven characters in the novel have a plotline based upon the subject. To mention a few
examples: Tom left Rachel because of her inability to conceive a child. Megan lost her daughter at a
young age. Tom murdered Megan because she was pregnant with his child, and lastly, Rachel s hatred
for Anna is outraged because Anna was able to marry Tom and have his baby. For these characters,
babies symbolized something much greater than having the child, itself. Rather, having a child meant
that they had gotten validation from their relationships, and also that they could focus on someone
other than themselves. For many of the characters, having children allowed them to focus on the
future and no longer on their pasts. For lack of a better term, having a child was a clean slate for each
of the characters. I can t risk going backward, it s always a bad idea (Hawkins. 65). This quote touches
on how Megan is still grieving over the death of her daughter. When Megan was sixteen, she gave
birth to her baby girl, Livie. She was betrayed by the baby s father left because of the pregnancy. This
left Megan being a single mom, meaning she had to do everything on her own. One night, she decided
to take a bath, naturally, she brought Livie in the bathtub with her. Megan fell asleep and when she

Conclusions: The results of this study show that local infiltration with 300mg (150ml) ropivacaine
might be more effective for pain management than 150mg (75ml) ropivacaine. Furthermore, alteration
in the dose of gabapentin appears not to have influence on the course of pain after TKA. The

Key Theme Of Knowledge In Frankenstein
English essay
Knowledge is a key theme throughout much of literature. In a well developed essay, present how the
theme of knowledge is examined by an author that you have studied
Marry Shelly Modern Prometheus, Frankenstein
Mary Shell s novel, known as Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus; the story of the modern
Prometheus The Greek god Prometheus gave fire to humans, fire can symbolise knowledge;
knowledge that only the gods should have. By the Greek god bestowing fire to humanity, was then
severely punished for it. This draws a parallel to Victor s story in which he was also brutally punished
for finding out knowledge that only gods should possess; the secrets to life, bestowing animation upon
the dead.
Throughout the novel we find that knowledge is a key theme, from the beginning of victor s journey
where he is young boy with a thirst for knowledge; always reading and educating himself. Then at the
young age of seventeen with his parents resolved that he should become a student at the university of
Ingolstadt , goes to study natural philosophy and particularly chemistry which became nearly his sole
occupation , trying to surpass others before him; to find the secrets to life. The ability to bestow
animation upon lifeless matter . From this we can analyse that he is becoming obsessed with his work,
as a sole occupation he is continuously trying to gain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

monster s first experience with a still smouldering flame reveals the dual nature of fire: he discovers

This lesson can be also presented through Victor and how by creating this monstrosity has come to

Essay on Beauty of Giselle and the Beast of Lebron
The Beast of Lebron and the Beauty of Giselle
It has always been quoted from time to time that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. However, what
we see is not always necessarily beauty but sometimes just an individual perspective of the viewer s
sense of the images they see. You see all of these different types of mainstream media that heavily
influence and criticize our culture so negatively by the creators and executives who sometimes put
there spin on the way we see and view things. Advertisements, movies, internet, radio and TV are
sometimes with their images convey hate, racism, and inequality. For example, take Gisele a world s
top model, and a NBA star athlete Lebron James and you put them on the front cover of Vogue s April
2008 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A good deal of racist propaganda has rested on those images, and they re a deeply ingrained part of
our cultural history. That s why this Vogue cover, which plays on racist facial expression and imagery,
is troubling and that just because you don t see racism of this stereotype of black males; it doesn t
mean that it isn t there. Lebron James is one of the most famous sports stars alive, and his image and
endorsement are worth tens of millions of dollars a year. He s got a carefully maintained public
persona as a squeaky clean, family friendly, playful person, and his substantial personal interests as
well as the interest of his top tier agents and PR team, as well as the interest of several large
multinational corporations with whom he has long term endorsement deals that are all centered on
maintaining that image. When looking at this cover, it is LeBron who grabs your attention. On the
Contrary, Gisele is a mere after thought; a beautiful after thought, but an after thought nonetheless.
Similarly, Giselle a world s top model has a facial expression that is calm, refreshing, and pleasant.
Gisele looks elated with her partner, not terrified despite Lebron s exaggerated snarl. Some feel it
plays to the stereotypes about the dangerous criminal minded black man and his desire

The Effects Of Fitness Programs On The Workplace
It is very true that if one works and does not refresh, that person will be ineffective. Just as the saying
suggests that jack becomes dull out of working without any break of playing. It is very true and
applies to each and every person in the society more so those who are productive and are indulged in
business activities. Therefore even companies should allow the employees to be exercising during
work time so as to avoid workers who are dull as well. For a company to be productive and
prosperous, it has to spare some little work time to incorporate fitness programs in its operations.
Fitness programs in a workplace are very effective since with exercise the employees are less likely to
become sick. It has been established that individuals who are physically fit are more resistant to
diseases associated with poor health lifestyles. A workforce which falls sick less often will always be
at work and thus will increase on the productivity of the business (Bird et al. 20). Through regular
exercise the employees will be able to sustain and increase their energy throughout the day. The
revived energy will enable them to stay focused on the operations of the company as they try to bring
the best out of themselves. Allowing the employees to exercise in the workplace is very mandatory
because it will help them to develop self confidence. Individuals who exercise regularly are able to
become physically fit and this boosts their confidence and self esteem (Kerr, Griffiths and Cox

The Giant Panda and the Polar Bear
According to a reliable website The giant panda is a well known and well loved species that is being
driven to extinction by habitat loss. It has become one of the most endangered mammals in the world,
with only 1,600 of them left (Exploring nature education). Also According to another credible website
about polar bears, Polar bears might not be endangered but they are one category off of becoming
endangered, there are 20,000 25,000 left worldwide (animalpawnation). As you can see the Giant
panda is classified as endangered. There are only about 1,600 left in the world. 1,600 may be a lot but
surprisingly not to many scientists and researchers. On the other hand polar bears are classified as
threatened one step away from becoming endangered. There are only about 20,000 25,000 left
worldwide.Other than being endangered and threatened they also share many similar characteristics.
The giant panda and polar bear are both similar and different in their physical qualities, habitat, and
diet. As members of the mammal family, the giant panda and the polar bear share many of the same
physical characteristics. On the other hand their appearances set them apart from one another in many
ways. To start with pandas and polar bears are well alike and different in many ways. When being
born pandas are about 15 17 centimeters long. Polar bears on the other hand though are born about 30
35 centimeters long. Pandas over the time grow and are white with big black spots around their body.

Isis Nursing Horus Essay
Tommy Adeosun
ART2700
November 20, 2014
Mrs. King
Isis Nursing Horus After learning so much about ancient Greece and many other ancient cultures from
different parts of the world in class. In this essay I will analyze the artwork by giving a full 360 degree
description of the work and every detail. I will also relate it to work we have studied in class. The
work I will analyze is found at the Walters Art Museum, in Baltimore, Maryland. The title of the work
is Isis Nursing Horus, an Egyptian artwork dated between 680 640 BCE. This is a three dimensional
volume statuette bronze seated statue of Isis nursing Horus. The statuette currently sits at Walters
Museum, Baltimore, Maryland. The measurement of this artwork is 215/8x 57/8x 91/4. The ... Show

The artwork is simplified, not too many extreme details included compared to some of the work with
complex details of the Vikings in early medieval times. The artist makes the sculpture simple. The
artwork is very rounded, no jagged or edgy parts of the sculpture, almost a smooth transition all
around and smooth. Proportions of the sculpture seems about right, with regard to length of Isis and
Horus. The sculptor gives Isis full feminine shapes, giving her curves at the right place and proper
recognizable feminine organs.
The artwork is unrealistic for two major reasons, its highly simplified and non representational for of
art. The reason the artwork is highly simplified is that, there are not a lot of details on the sculpture of
Isis nursing Horus, her hands are simple for texture of any sorts. The reason it is non representational
for of art is because, the clothing she is wearing, is plain, secondly Horus looks too stiff to be
considered a representation of a toddler, who are often chubby with soft skin. For the reminder of the
essay I will analyze and discuss the iconography in the sculpture and how some of the work in this
object relates to several works studied in

Red October Case Study
Sleek and modern are just two of the words that the Soviet leadership would use to describe Red
October, the submarine that the Soviet Navy has been looking forward to owning for years.
Furthermore, it is something that Soviet Navy Captain, First Rank Marko Ramius has been looking
forward to commanding for years, albeit for a different reason: he intends to use it as the vehicle of his
defection. Therefore, I predict that the Russians will go to any extreme necessary: deploying their
entire navy, even conducting special black operations against the U.S., to get or destroy Red October.
With the Soviet government and military now aware of Marko s intent, the largest search in modern
naval history commences. Thus it goes without saying: the Soviets ... Show more content on

Dallas have reported that no less than twenty eight attack submarines have been suddenly and
mysteriously deployed, it seems, to the North Atlantic. In addition, other satellites report that the
Soviets newest missile cruisers, destroyers, and frigates are currently in or heading towards the
Norwegian Sea, the entrance of the North Atlantic from the Arctic Ocean. Finally, the National
Security Agency (NSA) has intercepted multiple HF/VHF (high/very high frequency) messages,
indicative of military communications. Upon deciphering them, the analysts find out that the Russian
high command has issued a mysterious order deploying all warships and attack submarines in the
Arctic, Baltic, and Mediterranean fleets, and recalling all strategic missile submarines back to base.
Even the Americans, who are clueless about Ramius intent, can very clearly tell that something has
gone wrong for the Soviets, big time. Conversely, the Soviets understand the threat to its full extent. If
Red October falls, there is the loss of equipment and computers on board, plus the loss of the
submarine itself, as previously

  • 2. The Creators Of Salt Of The Earth The creators of Salt of the Earth had a consciousness of radical activism (Aptheker 2015). Paul Jarrico, Michael Wilson, and Herbert J. Biberman made connections between the Cold War anti union sentiment and what was happening in the lives of the community at Hanover, New Mexico (Balthasar 353). Salt fuses the antiracist, anti imperialist sensibility...with the central popular front icon and narrative form the strike tale. In this sense Salt is not simply an expansion of a 1930s political aesthetic; it is the fulfillment of it (Balthasar 356). This included thinking about how different forms of oppression impact people. Their final film implicitly critiques the United States imperialist policies and treatment of minority groups (Balthasar 355), a dangerous move in the era of high tensions due to the red scare. This, along with affiliations with the Hollywood Anti Nazi League (HANL) made them targets of the United States government (Balthasar 354). Their careers had been destroyed, since no one wanted to make themselves a target of the U.S. by being friendly with people that were accused of being communists, and their film was blacklisted. The leading actress, Rosaura Revualtas, who had already radically starred in what is recognized as the first lesbian film (Aptheker), also faced punishment for starring in Salt. Though she was here legally, participation in the film was grounds for her deportation. Furthermore, she was banned from acting in Mexico (Aptheker). Clint ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cryptanalysis In World War II Thesis: The application of Cryptanalysis in World War II was imperative to both Allied intelligence efforts and success of Allied Powers during the Battle of the Atlantic. Citation: Rielage, Dale C. 2002. Indirectly in Operational Signals . Naval History16, no. 6: 31. History Reference Center, EBSCOhost (accessed November 16, 2016). Annotation: Rielage argues that due to Ultra intelligence finally being used to allow for an offensive front in the Atlantic in regards to U boats, much success was had. He backs up this statement citing Admiral Karl Donitz, who stated that the U boat losses which were thirteen percent before the use of Ultra for an offensive front in the Atlantic quickly rose to thirty to fifty percent. The new idea that knowledge was the key to success, along with other new ideas started a movement called the Enlightenment. All of the new ways of thinking that started the Enlightenment are the base for the ideas we have today. The Enlightenment took place during the time America was part of the British colonies and the French were having a Revolution. Legal Analysis Of Contract Case Study CONTRACT ANALYSIS 8 Running Head: CONTRACT ANALYSIS 1 Legal Analysis of Contract Case Study Rachelle Sepich Liberty University Summary of Contractual Issue Marshall and I have an existing business relationship in that I manufacture and supply products that Marshall needs. Generally, the relationship has gone well except for Marshall?s late payments from time to time. Astoundingly, Marshall prepared a contract which was presented as a technicality intended for documentation of commitment between our companies to continue doing business with one another (Kubasek et al., 2016, p. 249). Marshall provided this substantive unconscionability contract to my son with undue influence in his assertions (Kubasek et al., 2016, p. 251). It?s ... Or better yet, what does the Bible say about honoring commitments for the believer and unbeliever? ?As a general rule, parents are not liable for the contracts entered into by their minor children? (Kubasek et al., 2016, p. 226). Cercel and Scurtu advised civil law regulates that there is limited legal capacity of minors between 14 and 18 years of age given the assumed insufficient psychological magnitude to exercise legal rights (Cercel, S., Scurtu, S., 2015). Despite the fact that my son was turning 18 soon and irrespective of Marshall?s awareness to my son?s age, my son was only 17 and was not authorized to act on my behalf. Marshall misrepresented the importance and neglected to expound upon the legal ramifications before executing an agreement with my son. First, grossly minimizing that his contract would be a formality and implying that I was aware of the terms and conditions disclosed. As an unbeliever, I can only assume that he either intended to deceive or has no appreciation for the impact his words would have had on my son. Third, implementing such an agreement would force an unjustified and indefinite reliance to work together. There are several disabilities out there, so chances are you must know someone who battles with the day to day hassles. But, are learning disabilities really a hassle? More often than not, this can be considered a misconception. Learning disabilities (LD) affect the way a person of at least average intelligence receives, stores, and processes information (NCLD 2001). This neurological disorder prevents children especially from being able to perform well academically. Therefore more time and special programs are fostered to them. This usually means that they have trouble hearing and understanding a person s directions since they cannot decode the message properly. (Silverman) Of the three previously mentioned diseases, Dyslexia impairs a person s ability to read, write, and spell (NINDS 2003). Although they are of normal intelligence, their reading level is below average. They will usually have trouble with phonological processing (the manipulation of sounds) and/or rapid visual verbal responding. (NINDS 2003). Children with dyslexia complain they cannot read their textbooks, do not have enough time to finish tests, cannot take notes, and are unable to read their own handwriting (GVSU 2000). Dyslexia does not affect every person the same way, and signs of the disorder may not be prevalent until later, when grammar and more in depth writing skills are introduced. Dyslexia can also create a difficulty in processing vocabulary and thoughts correctly when speaking, and understanding what one says when they are spoken to. • 7. Judging Young Goodman Brown By Nathaniel Hawthorne Emy Gore : 1444769 Professor Sharp English 1033 18 23 September 2013 Judging Young Goodman Brown The short story Young Goodman Brown, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, accurately bestows all aspects of an allegory. According to Merriam Webster, an allegory is a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one. Through this work, Hawthorne is able to depict the apparent hypocrisy in today s world and especially in religion in America. The story is of a man, Young Goodman Brown, who is highly tempted by the devil himself and in the end caves to the pressure due to his lack of faith and even due to a little curiosity. Brown could not help but wonder what this new world could potentially behold for him; unfortunately, his curiosity didn t change him for the better, only for the worse. The ceremony and changing opened his eyes and made him see the true colors of those around him. We see how Brown loses faith in the people in his community, his family, and especially in himself. We first see Browns opinion on those around him when he shows up to the ceremony in the woods and thinks that It was strange to see that the good shrank not from the wicked, nor were the sinners abashed by the saints. (Hawthorne 1128). This is when Brown first realizes that some of the people he believes complete saints truly weren t, but rather were sinners in disguise. • 9. Analysis Of The Road By Cormac Mccarthy A man and a boy trudge along the road in a desolate, crumbling world. Everything that once was has diminished, and hope for the future is bleak. All that s left to do in this dystopian world is to survive. Cormac McCarthy s The Road, follows the journey of a father and son clinging to life after a series of catastrophic events. Together they must salvage any remaining food and other necessities they need to sustain themselves. Day in day out, the pair trek down the road, hoping to reach the sea and find some beacon of life. However, their slim hopes vanquish when they reach their destination and find nothing but traces of death and destruction. The Man and The Boy continue their aimless journey along the road, emaciated and barely alive, but still unwilling to give up on life. McCarthy stripes down all the traditional elements of literature and forms a simplistic novel, leaving the story naked, just like the setting in his post apocalyptic, The Road. Despite numerous scholars who insist Cormac McCarthy s pen richly doused The Road with symbolism and metaphors, McCarthy straightforwardly intended his novel to simply be a story about a man and a boy traveling along a road. In fact, McCarthy carefully constructed his novel in a bare, stripped down form to ...mirror the world it describes (Hobby). With special attention to detail, Cormac McCarthy rebirthed the traditional novel and gave life to a creation of his own. Despite over analyzers of The Road, his intentions were not to develop a probing novel, but to take elaborate techniques and form a simple story. In a 2007 Book Club interview with Oprah Winfrey, McCarthy disclosed, Oh it s just a boy and a man on the road. You can obviously draw conclusions...depending on your taste. It s a pretty simple story I think (Lincoln 163). In The Road, McCarthy utilizes basic sentence structure and phrasing to emphasize the simplicity of the novel. Not only does he rely on his uncomplex style, but the use of fragmented sentences as well. One example of the novel s plethora of fragments is, The segments of road down there among the dead trees. Looking for anything of color. Any movement. Any trace of standing smoke (McCarthy 4). In a world ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Islamic Observation Paper For this ritual project, I decided to observe the ritual of going to mosque and performing their prayers. The reason I decided to choose an Islamic practice for this project was in part because of the recent increase in Islamophobia both in the States and in Canada. I was also very interested to maybe observe some of the differences and similarities in Islamic practices compared to Christian practices as I have grown up in a very traditional Christian (Pentecostal) household and have never really had the opportunity to experience, first hand, a religious ceremony foreign to my own. This could be seen as a costume required by this ritual which was followed by only the women. There were also specific musical cues spoken that indicated what position had to be assumed and when. In terms of performativity, this could possibly be referred to as a performative speech act if the words have the power to change something in the current state. There was almost a role that was taken on by all the people engaging in the ritual. As soon as they walked in the room, and even after the ritual was over, there was a sense of solemnness and reverence that people exhibited while in that space. When it comes to liminality, this whole ritual exhibited a process that could be categorized under the three stages of liminality; separation, transition and incorporation. From the very beginning the ritual began with two distinct forms of separation. As we entered the building we were separating ourselves from society and entering a space in which people of a shared community came to participate in a ritual. Not only were we separated from society by entering the building, but we were also separated from the men that were a part of this ritual. Additionally, this stage of separation was also seen and experienced physically through the process of putting on the scarf on our heads. This scarf magnified the weight of the separation of sexes because now there was a tangible marker of what we signified in this process. While the men resided in a larger room, the women were kept in a much smaller room in the back. The process of transition is a bit harder to solidify because there does not seem to be a set point in the ritual where a profound change occurs, but rather the process of the movements itself works together as part of ... Policing in Regards to Race, Gender and Ethnicity In the United States the issue of Policing in regards to race, gender and ethnicity has been an ongoing reform in which state and local legislatures have been dealing with as of recent years. Although there have been legislation on equal opportunity, the primary significance in promoting equality has been the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The Civil Rights Act is a federal legislation, which in part bars discrimination based on race or gender. Employers from local and state agencies are all affected by this legislation. To enforce and see that the legislation is carried out accordingly, the government created the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Introduction During this experiment the main equipment used was a spectrophotometer and a micropipette to achieve relevant results. Selecting a specific wavelength of visible light (390 770nm) on the spectrophotometer, the photons pass through the cuvette and are picked up by a photodetector which calculates the absorbance of the substance which was transferred from the source to the cuvettes using a micropipette. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The micropipettes possibly did not release the exact volume of solution into the cuvette that was required this can influence the final results greatly as a higher/lower volume would mean a higher/lower level of absorption. This limitation can be removed next time by using more sophisticated pipettes. Moreover, another limitation was that the cuvettes were not cleaned properly and possibly had finger prints on the surface. When inserting such a cuvette into the spectrophotometer the light photons would get absorbed by the finger prints and not the solution giving a lower final absorption for that specific concentration. In the future to remove this limitation the surface of the cuvettes should be cleaned properly and to make sure to not hold the cuvette by the cleaned surface when transferring it to the spectrophotometer. In conclusion this investigation highly increased my knowledge on the use of spectrophotometer and other lab techniques and as a first timer the final result of 39% which was 6% off the expected value was not bad. • 18. Firestone s An Civil War Firestone, a tire production company, who owns a base in Liberia got into a predicament on morality issues. The controversy was over whether or not it was right to continue deploying their workers to Liberia after war crimes were committed there. During the time Firestone started up its operation of rubber collecting in Liberia, an ongoing civil war between a rebel force led by Charles Taylor and the Liberian president at the time, Samuel Doe, interfered with their operation. At first the company had withdrawn from the crossfire of the war, but soon realized they needed to return due to Firestone s financial decline. When returning, the tire company had to work under Taylor s stringent rules that resulted in issues such as the safety of their workers at the Firestone plantation and the exploitation of workers. The problem with this was that Firestone s primary intention was to return and make a profit, not taking the lives and opinions of their workers into consideration. Firestone s action was immoral leading to accepting the abuse and exploitation of their workers on the necessity of making a profit. Firestone s decision to return back to Liberia after leaving it for the first time was an iniquitous move on their behalf. Set in the American South, the song Goodbye, Earl, written by Dennis Linde and performed by the Dixie Chicks, is a comedic story of vengeance and retribution. Best friends throughout high school, Wanda and Mary Anne part ways after graduation, but eventually meet back up to murder Earl, the abusive husband of Wanda. Using double entendres, strong imagery, and a light tone, Linde and the Dixie Chicks conveyed the strength of Southern women through their song, but also created controversy with a divisive music video. By naming one of the characters Mary Anne, the writer immediately evokes a sense of Southern lineage. Almost unheard of in other regions, double names are incredibly popular in the American south. On the other hand, the name Wanda etymologically means a Wend. While Mary Anne had been the one out of the two to physically leave after graduation lookin for a bright new world, Wanda wends all around town and stumbles upon Earl. In this aspect, Wanda does not choose to be in an abusive relationship she falls into it. Additionally, the song mentions that both women were members of the 4H club and active members in the FFA. After the collapse of the democratic parliament which was soon replaced by Hitler and Mussolini s dictatorships, both leaders thought that once gained power, the parties which helped them obtain such power would not have taken control of it and especially that they would not have surrendered to their own parties. They were determined that the power was only theirs and one way of showing it was by expanding their territories throughout foreign countries. The biggest difference between them is the fact that most Italian fascists were against racism and against Hitler s anti Semitist ideologies. Their main concentration was towards the supremacy of the State, while the Nazi s one was the race. The Aryans, from Hitler s point of view, represented the highest form of human race. One that can be easily observed on many online forums is the use of pseudonyms instead of actual names. When browsing through online comment sections and social media, it is common to come across people writing under pseudonyms. The venues the author refers to are the social networks Facebook and Google Plus, which have real name policies that forbid the use of pseudonyms (Boyd, par. 7). The author attempts to answer if said policies protect users or if they increase user vulnerability. She states that the stakeholders in this issue are those most affected by prohibiting pseudonyms and nicknames, the vulnerable and marginalized members of society such as abuse survivors, activists, LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender] people, women, and young people (Boyd, par. 3). The values attached to the issue are those of safety, as people often utilize pseudonyms to preserve their physical and mental health, as well as that of their families (Boyd, par. 2). Boyd is against the enforcement of real name policies because it exposes those who need protection, arguing that you don t guarantee safety by stopping people from using pseudonyms, but you do undermine people s safety by doing so (Boyd, par. 11). The author concludes that enforcing real names policies in online spaces is an abuse of power (Boyd, par. 12). The solution she presents is simply not enforcing real name ... Ebb created the lyrics and also worked with Fosse to write the book, while Kander created the music. Chicago portrays a theme that celebrity statuses corrupt judicial system. The idea of celebrity criminals appears throughout the musical as the girls fight for attention in press in order to help win their trial. Mamma Morton clearly says (33 minutes into the movie) Murder is a form of entertainment here and the musical proves that statement true. The absorption of light by normal bilirubin (4Z,15Z bilirubin) results in the creation of 2 isomeric forms of bilirubin: structural isomer (Z lumirubin) and configurational isomer (4Z,15 E bilirubin). Both these structural and configurational isomers of bilirubin have substantially different chemical and light absorption properties than bilirubin, are less lipophilic than normal bilirubin and can be excreted into bile without undergoing glucuronidation in the liver. The absorption of light by bilirubin also results in the generation of excited state bilirubin molecules that react with oxygen to produce colorless oxidation, or photooxidation products. The rate of formation of bilirubin photoproducts is highly dependent on the intensity and wavelengths of the light used (13). The most efficient wavelength for the isomerization of bilirubin is approximately 450 nm, whether applied to the fluid samples for testing or the treatment of jaundice. Wavelengths that fall within the range of 400 nm 500 nm, and more specifically 445 nm 475 nm are known to effect isomerization (14). The article One Hundred Years of Solitude, Indigenous Myth, and Meaning by Jay Corwin argues that the key elements of the story are the parallels with Colombian mythologies and not the Old Testament, which has been mostly exclusively Western (Corwin 112). Jay Corwin states Disambiguation of the novel s re creation of authentic Colombian mythologies and rituals may lead to a clearer understanding of the novel s themes and ultimately its meanings, thus clarifying its implicit criticism of the rejection of identity (Corwin 112). To understand the novel, Corwin does an effective job on explaining the parallels with Colombian myths, so that the readers could understand the criticism of One Hundred Years of Solitude. Corwin started his article by mentioning the initial critical reception of the suggested parallels between the novel and the Old Testament which is obvious because the myths are widely known in the West (Corwin 112). He continues with that the fixed devotion to the Biblical versions of creation, flight, and destruction in other interpretations only talk about the parallels between the Old Testament and One Hundred Years of Solitude were indirect and lengthy, also had unnecessary hidden messages (Corwin 112 113). Consider the scenario in which the access point (AP) serves a subset of UEs when available resources cannot support all of the UEs quality of service (QoS) requirements. In this project, propose a scheduling metric to balance the tradeoff between EE and fairness. Based on the scheduling metric, propose a suboptimal joint scheduling and resource allocation algorithm and a power allocation algorithm that maximizes the system EE. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve a good tradeoff between the system EE and fairness. I.INTRODUCTION The booming demand for wireless applications and the relatively low battery capacity in UE puts a premium on achieving high EE. With the growing popularity of green communications, EE is becoming increasingly important. Previous work on energy efficient resource allocation in OFDMA systems has mainly focused on downlink scenarios. Due to constraints on individual UEs and the discrete nature of sub channel assignment uplink energy efficient resource allocation is less tractable. In an uplink allocation algorithm is described to maximize the minimum EE among all users. When I was a young girl, my mom would take me with her to work. At the time, she worked at an assisted living center in Rome, Georgia. You see, I was a very quiet and curious child who observed the world innocently with bright, untainted eyes. I didn t care much to be around the other children who were usually loud and somewhat bothersome, but I enjoyed being around adults. So when my mom would take me with her, the elderly people living there found much joy in having my company. I would sit and listen to them tell me all sorts of stories from their past for hours on end, but I loved to hear about them. In a way, I somehow understood that these people were lonely and only had so much time left. They just wanted someone who could appreciate them and what they had to say; they wanted to feel like they were of some importance and had a sense of meaning. I cared greatly about what they had to say, even though I didn t understand it that much. More importantly, I cared about their feelings and wellbeing. I can still remember at least two of my mom s patients. One was a man named Lou, and I believe he wore a prosthetic leg. He was a very sweet and dear old man who loved the outdoors. Health Insurance And The Health Care System According to Martocchio (2014), health insurance covers the costs of a variety of services that promote sound physical and mental health, including physical examinations, diagnostic testing, surgery, dental treatments, and corrective prescription lenses for vision deficiencies. More than two centuries ago, the presence of the health care system emerged when mining and railroad companies hired doctors to provide medical services to their employees. As a result of the catastrophic World War I, many health providers were left providing services with the prospect of not receiving payments for the services being rendered and many Americans faced with the financial burdens of these escalating health care costs. The essential for the development of a health care system was not established for no apparent reason. The health care system was developed due to the staggering number of Americans whom where unable to pay soaring medical bills. With no government intervention, the private sector of health insurance was established as a means for Americans to pay medical expenses. In 1927, the American Medical Association (AMA) formed a Committee on the Costs of Medical Care to report on options for helping Americans pay for their medical services. Megan lost her daughter at a young age. Tom murdered Megan because she was pregnant with his child, and lastly, Rachel s hatred for Anna is outraged because Anna was able to marry Tom and have his baby. For these characters, babies symbolized something much greater than having the child, itself. Rather, having a child meant that they had gotten validation from their relationships, and also that they could focus on someone other than themselves. For many of the characters, having children allowed them to focus on the future and no longer on their pasts. For lack of a better term, having a child was a clean slate for each of the characters. However, what we see is not always necessarily beauty but sometimes just an individual perspective of the viewer s sense of the images they see. You see all of these different types of mainstream media that heavily influence and criticize our culture so negatively by the creators and executives who sometimes put there spin on the way we see and view things. Advertisements, movies, internet, radio and TV are sometimes with their images convey hate, racism, and inequality. A good deal of racist propaganda has rested on those images, and they re a deeply ingrained part of our cultural history. That s why this Vogue cover, which plays on racist facial expression and imagery, is troubling and that just because you don t see racism of this stereotype of black males; it doesn t mean that it isn t there. Lebron James is one of the most famous sports stars alive, and his image and endorsement are worth tens of millions of dollars a year. He s got a carefully maintained public persona as a squeaky clean, family friendly, playful person, and his substantial personal interests as well as the interest of his top tier agents and PR team, as well as the interest of several large multinational corporations with whom he has long term endorsement deals that are all centered on maintaining that image. When looking at this cover, it is LeBron who grabs your attention. On the Contrary, Gisele is a mere after thought; a beautiful after thought, but an after thought nonetheless. Similarly, Giselle a world s top model has a facial expression that is calm, refreshing, and pleasant. Gisele looks elated with her partner, not terrified despite Lebron s exaggerated snarl. Some feel it plays to the stereotypes about the dangerous criminal minded black man and his desire ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Isis Nursing Horus Essay Tommy Adeosun ART2700 November 20, 2014 Mrs. King Isis Nursing Horus After learning so much about ancient Greece and many other ancient cultures from different parts of the world in class. In this essay I will analyze the artwork by giving a full 360 degree description of the work and every detail. I will also relate it to work we have studied in class. The work I will analyze is found at the Walters Art Museum, in Baltimore, Maryland. The title of the work is Isis Nursing Horus, an Egyptian artwork dated between 680 640 BCE. The artwork is simplified, not too many extreme details included compared to some of the work with complex details of the Vikings in early medieval times. The artist makes the sculpture simple. The artwork is very rounded, no jagged or edgy parts of the sculpture, almost a smooth transition all around and smooth. Proportions of the sculpture seems about right, with regard to length of Isis and Horus. The sculptor gives Isis full feminine shapes, giving her curves at the right place and proper recognizable feminine organs. The artwork is unrealistic for two major reasons, its highly simplified and non representational for of art. The reason the artwork is highly simplified is that, there are not a lot of details on the sculpture of Isis nursing Horus, her hands are simple for texture of any sorts. The reason it is non representational for of art is because, the clothing she is wearing, is plain, secondly Horus looks too stiff to be considered a representation of a toddler, who are often chubby with soft skin. For the reminder of the essay I will analyze and discuss the iconography in the sculpture and how some of the work in this object relates to several works studied in ... • 50. Red October Case Study Sleek and modern are just two of the words that the Soviet leadership would use to describe Red October, the submarine that the Soviet Navy has been looking forward to owning for years. Furthermore, it is something that Soviet Navy Captain, First Rank Marko Ramius has been looking forward to commanding for years, albeit for a different reason: he intends to use it as the vehicle of his defection. Therefore, I predict that the Russians will go to any extreme necessary: deploying their entire navy, even conducting special black operations against the U.S., to get or destroy Red October. With the Soviet government and military now aware of Marko s intent, the largest search in modern naval history commences. Thus it goes without saying: the Soviets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dallas have reported that no less than twenty eight attack submarines have been suddenly and mysteriously deployed, it seems, to the North Atlantic. In addition, other satellites report that the Soviets newest missile cruisers, destroyers, and frigates are currently in or heading towards the Norwegian Sea, the entrance of the North Atlantic from the Arctic Ocean. Finally, the National Security Agency (NSA) has intercepted multiple HF/VHF (high/very high frequency) messages, indicative of military communications. Upon deciphering them, the analysts find out that the Russian high command has issued a mysterious order deploying all warships and attack submarines in the Arctic, Baltic, and Mediterranean fleets, and recalling all strategic missile submarines back to base. Even the Americans, who are clueless about Ramius intent, can very clearly tell that something has gone wrong for the Soviets, big time. Conversely, the Soviets understand the threat to its full extent. If Red October falls, there is the loss of equipment and computers on board, plus the loss of the submarine itself, as previously ...
