What Does It Mean To Be Professional
In my opinion, to be professional means a litany of things. In specific, being professional means:
to take your work seriously, to be polite to others, to better yourself through feedback, to be
reliable, and to be trustworthy. These are just a few characteristics of a professional.
Teachers which excel in the profession of education are those who are continuous learners. At the
end of the day, teachers who continuously focus on bettering themselves, their classroom, and adapt
their learning environment to meet environmental changes, excel in the profession. A teacher
which strives to excel is critical of themselves. They work to improve their lesson plans even when
they feel they are perfect. A teacher which excels uses veteran teachers as

Power Of Sin In Lord Of The Flies
The Power of Sin
John F. Kennedy once said, forbidden fruit tastes sweet, but it s after taste is bitter . This means that
temptations and curiosity lead to sin, which has consequences. Although there was no fruit
involved, defiance of a higher being has always resulted in a drastic outcome.
The little red haired girl could not resist temptations. She went against her father s orders and got
carried away with the wind. A grizzly found her and took her in to be raised with his family. In these
times bears walked on two legs and communicated just as humans do. The eldest grizzly son even
had babies with the girl. When the Sky Chief was informed about the new race that he had not
created, he was furious. He put a curse on the grizzlies

The Importance Of Education In Public Schools
What would happen to society if everyone was the same? Thats easy, we would cease to be
human beings and become mindless robots. There would be no more art, music or literature
because everyone thinks and acts the same way. We can t allow ourselves to become mindless
husks we need to strive for more creative thinking to better expand our horizons for generations
to come. Taking away the ability to be creative and to think differently is a heinous crime with
one prime suspect, schools. Right now schools have failed in providing children the room and
support they need to bloom from students to an individual. Public schools were created during
the age industrial revolution a time. Schools were modeled after the same work systems of these
factories. Putting students in straight lines give them the same work and one correct way to
accomplish the work. do it any other way you are branded as a failure and that there is something
wrong with you.Its scary to say but these are still the standards set in most schools today. While I
agree there is something wrong with all of us. I highly disagree with the disgusting assumption of
one way thinking being forced on students. These arguments made that only one way of doing
things right is an effective way of preparing students has no solid evidence of working and the men
and women enforcing these unjust regulations on youth should be ashamed of their crimes of
censorship and subjugation. There are plenty of examples that prove

Gatsby and Daisy, Tom and Myrtle, and George
The relationship between Tom and Myrtle was different from Gatsby and Daisy s relationship.
Tom, described with physical strength, has his history, abilities, and sensuality that make him
right. On the other hand, his wife, Daisy comes out to be the weakest character from a reader s
point of view, because people ask her for a lot ( Great , Scott). Tom always claimed that he was
deeply in love with Daisy, but every chance he had to leave town he went and slept with Myrtle
Wilson. She knew Tom was married but that did not stop her from loving him. Tom left town
one day and decided to drag Nick along with him. He convinces Myrtle that he wants her to leave
with him and Nick on the train to the apartment on 158th Street (Baker). Myrtle is married to
Wilson. After Myrtle buys a puppy, Tom and her head back to their city apartment along with
Nick. The apartment began to flutter with people as Myrtle had decided to throw a party. Nick
was curious to know what their appearance would look like to an outside observer because the
party only merged to get drunker as the puppy sat in the smoky air ( Great , Novels). In the other
room, Tom was having his affair with Myrtle. It was loud enough that Nick and the women could
hear them repeatedly. Nick was shocked that Tom took his wife s cousin to such a place where he
cheated on his wife. That is part of the reason Nick encouraged Daisy to come to dinner with
Gatsby. After a few short drinks, Myrtle starts getting loud. She begins to

The Decline Of A Fall
A fall is defined as inadvertently coming to rest on the ground, floor or some lower level, excluding
intentional change in position to rest. Another definition states that a fall is an event reported either
by the faller or a witness, resulting in a person inadvertently coming to rest on the ground or
another lower level, with or without loss of consciousness or injury. The worldwide populationof the
older adult as reported by the World Health Organization (WHO) may grow to 1.5 billion by the
year 2050. The astounding fact is that approximately eighty percent (80%) will be living in
developing countries. A senior citizen or older adult is defined as a person aged 65 years and
older. This is the fastest growing population around... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Considering the magnitude of the ageing population and socio economic changes around the world,
measures to keep older people healthy and active are of utmost importance. (WHO, 2007). In most
developed countries, population aging is a gradual process and most of the older adults live
independently. Traditionally it was the responsibility of the family to care for older adults. We
find ourselves in a care giving crisis as roles are changing, employment of women taking a major
role, erosion of traditional family values, and an increasing trend for nuclear families. (Dsouza,
2014). The number of older adults living alone is increasing. Older adults are living both in
residential care facilities or nursing homes and most often on their own in communities for the
aged. It is estimated that more than 50% of those living in nursing homes and residential
facilities fall every year and about 50% of these fall repeatedly. (CMS, 2014). The actual
incidence is likely to be even higher, since many falls are not reported. Falls often lead to reduced
functioning, which increases morbidity and mortality. Around 20% of falls need medical attention,
5 10% result in fractures (with one in five of these being a hip fracture), severe head injuries and
joint distortions, and 5 10% in soft tissue contusions hcdxd lacerations. Fall induced injuries are the
fifth leading cause of death in elderly adults

Tesis Gender Roles
Gender representations in Tesis The 1996 Spanish horror film Tesis (dir. Alejandro Amenabar)
receives huge success in both domestic and international markets, and the film mixes the ideas
about masculinity and femininity in characters to distinguish itself from Hollywood films while
intimating them at the same time. The first seduction scene in Tesis happened in Angela s (Ana
Torrent) bedroom. Opening the door of her bedroom, Angel expressed her discomfort of being on
camera to Bosco (Eduardo Noriega) who showed up uninvited. Bosco replied with a flirtatious
comment about how beautiful Angela was. Angel quickly moved on to question Bosco about his
camera which he insisted that he got it second handed. The screen cut to Bosco s camera s blue...

Then she hurried him up, claiming she needed to have lunch. Suddenly, Angela mother called
from the hallway, asking Bosco to stay for lunch. Bosco stuck his head out to accept the offer,
looking exactly like the James Dean mannequin in the walkway. Bosco was so gorgeous that he
was almost not real. His representation of masculinity was so perfect that it seemed off. The
Bosco character was clearly one of the ways Tesis used to challenge Hollywood s hegemony by
co opting its methods and improving upon them (Buckley, 3). He had all the Hollywood star
quality, but he is also a psychopath. The camera panned right as Bosco returned to his position,
showing a creepy grim on his face. Accompanied by disturbing non diegetic music, he quickly
closed the bind and commanded Angela to sit on her bed for better lighting. Angela rushed
through her script, but Bosco wanted to record her closer and started to move closer to her
while she was protesting his action. The camera followed Bosco and stopped at a close up when
their faces are so close that they almost kissed. They just looked at each other, and through the
gap between them, there was a poster of an American queer cinema classic, My Own Private
Idaho. Angela s denim jacket and Bosco s yellow shirt looked similar to

Rider And The Rider Book Review
Dan Heath and Chip Heath in this book are addressing what should be done to make the needed
switch to accept the desired or needed change. The authors used a nice metaphor illustrating the
brain as the Rider and the emotions as the Elephant, while the Rider and the Elephant are in
consistent conflict to pick or acceptthe right direction for the change journey to make it to the final
destination. The battel between the two is mainly whether we can make the journey or it s not
worth the efforts and stay where you are just live with the status quobecause your team, the
community is unable to try the new journey. The authors are providing some guidance to mitigate
this vital conflict, to balance and compromise the needs and the fears of the Riders... Show more

In highly successful change efforts, people find ways to help others see the problems or solutions in
ways that influence emotions, not just thought (105). Most people think change happens in this
order: ANALYZE THINK CHANGE (106), which is normal when parameters are known,
assumptions are minimal, and the future is not fuzzy (106). But during the change situation with
the uncertain environment where the parameters is not well known and the future is fuzzy , in this
case, the change pattern is not ANALYZEВTHINK CHANGE, but rather SEE FEEL CHANG
(106). A second good way to motivate the Elephant is to Shrink the Change . It means breaking
the ultimate goal into small achievable objectives and building momentum to keep the Elephant
going towards the final destination. To get the Elephant off its duff, you need to reassure it that
the task won t be so bad. (131), so motivate actions that could generate small achievements and it
will spiral hope that change was possible. Furthermore, you need to Grow your People to accept a
new identity during change as no nobody was born with his professional identity as doctor,
engineer, scientist. It s the identity you seek and others cultivate in you such as your teachers,
supervisors, and leaders around you. To achieve change, you need to promote the growth mindset.
People with such mindset believe that abilities are like muscles they can be built up with practice.
That is, with concerted effort, you can make yourself better and you tend to accept more challenges
despite the risk of failure (164), by that the Elephant is not reluctant of the journey of change
anymore.
In the third part of the book Shape the Path, the authors are addressing what seen as people
problem is often a situational or environment problem. So what can you do to help the people
surrounding you to accept the required change and make it a little bit easier to embrace

Magic Mushrooms Research Papers
Magic mushrooms is the name given to Mushrooms that contain psilocybin a hallucinogenic
substance. You can eat these mushrooms, brew a tea with them, mix them with other foods or, as
some people do to mask their bitter taste, coat them with chocolate and then eat them. After 30
minutes you start feeling the effects. There are hundreds of different types of Mushrooms that
contain psilocybin. They grow across wide sections of Mexico, South America, Malaysia, India and
Indonesia. They also grow in the Southern US and Eastern Australia. The earliest record of people
using Mushrooms was from 7000 BC in cave paintings. They might have used mushrooms for
religious practices. The Aztecs referred to the mushrooms as divine mushroom. In 1955 Valentina...

The Collection Of Oil Polluted Water Samples
2.1. Collection of oil polluted water samples
Red sea water samples polluted with Belayim Mix (BX) crude oil were collected from the
Advanced Petroleum Interceptor (API) of SUMED Cooperation (Suez governorate 29В°17 34.4
N 32В°36 37.0 E, Egypt). Two samples were collected, each in 250 mL screw capped sterile glass
bottle, which was then closed after the air bubbles were completely eliminated and transferred to
the laboratory within 3 4 h and stored at 4В°C. Seawater (3.5%) was collected from Ain Sokhna
beach, stored at 4В°C and filtered (0.45 Вµm) prior to use.
2.2. Isolation of crude oil degrading microbial strains
The microorganisms used in this study were isolated from oil contaminated seawater. The yeast
presented in the samples were enriched by cultivation in Wickerham broth medium (10 g
glucose, 5 g peptone, 3 g yeast extract, 3 g malt extract and distilled water up to 1 L; pH 6.2),
while the fungal strains were enriched in Sabouraud dextrose broth medium (20 g glucose, 10 g
peptone, 5 g yeast extract and distilled water up to 1 L; pH 5.6). Enriched cultures were incubated
in an orbital shaker (150 rpm) for 48 h. After this enrichment, suspensions in physiological saline
were used to inoculate duplicate modified Wickerham agar (supplemented with 100 mg/L
chloramphenicol) and modified Sabouraud dextrose agar plates with yeast and fungi, respectively.
All media were modified by using filtered seawater instead of distilled water to dissolve all
ingredients. The plates were

Oedipus As A Tragic Hero
Although not all who wander or deviate from the path are lost, some clearly are. When Oedipus,
the eponymous character of Sophocles tragedy Oedipus Rex, first learns that he is destined to kill
his father and marry his mother, he abandons his home intent on never returning in order to avoid
meeting his fate. Unbeknownst to the tragic hero, before the curtain s rise, the prophecy has already
been fulfilled. Consequently, due to the underlying corruption in Thebes, the people are perishing
of a plague that will not cease until the man responsible for the death of the previous Theban King,
King Laius, is identified and brought to justice. This urgency propels Oedipusto discover that his
biological father is not the King of Corinth who... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The significance of this theme is conveyed through Sophocles and Shakespeare s usage of dialog,
characterization, and symbolism. To start, Sophocles and Shakespeare utilize dialog to illustrate
the theme of exile within their respective works. Attempting to ease Oedipus s mind by
convincing him that he has nothing to fear in the predictions of the oracles, Jocasta gives the
ironic example of the plot to kill her own infant son to avoid a similar prophecy. Sophocles
dialog for Jocasta states, But Laius,/ so the report goes at least, was killed by strangers,/ thieves,
at a place where three roads meet ... [M]y son / he wasn t three days old and the boy s father
/ fastened his ankles, had a henchman fling him away on a barren, trackless mountain./ There, you
see? (787 793). Although exile, or at least the threat of exile, is prevalently addressed within the
dialog of both works, Jocasta s rashness to murder her child is jarring, even more so due to the
inappropriately comforting tone with which Jocasta retrospects on such a sinister deed. Likewise,
King Lear responds irrationally when he promptly arranges a marriage for Cordelia to the King
of France after Cordelia admits that she loves her father only to the extent that it is appropriate
for a daughter to love her father. Shakespeare s written dialog for Lear reads, Let her be thine, for
we/ Have no such daughter, nor shall ever see/That face of hers again (1.4.264 266). Like Jocasta,

Father Diego Dur An Advocate For The Aztecs Of The Aztec...
Father Diego DurГЎn was a Dominican priest in Mexico after the Spanish conquest of the Aztec
Empire. He was born in Selville, Spain in 1537 but moved to New Spain as a child. He
originally lived in Texcoco but eventually moved to Mexico City and became a priest in 1556. He
became fluent in the native language Nahuatl and gained the inhabitants trust with his
understanding nature and respect for their culture. He used his experiences and access to first
hand knowledge to write three books, The Ancient Calendar, The History of the Indies of New
Spain, and The Book of Gods and Rites, collectively known as the DurГЎn Codex.
DurГЎn was an advocate for the Aztecs living in New Spain, but he was still a Catholic priest
who saw everything he did through the lense of potential conversion. During his extensive study
of the local culture he came to see the parallels between his faith and indigenous religion as
evidence of Abrahamic religion having been brought to the New World and corrupted by the Devil.
The only way, according to DurГЎn, to truly root out the satanic practices of the Mesoamerican
religions was to understand them. He wrote the DurГЎn Codex to both help that missionary work
and satisfy his own curiosity.
The Book of Gods and Rites was written from 1574 to 1576. Fifty years before that, Hernan Cortez
had taken over the Aztec Empire and toppled it s capital city Tenochtitlan. After the Spanish took
over most of South and Mesoamerica, the remaining people who hadn t been

The Importance Of Voting In America
With the presidential election going on today I am baffled at how many of my friends care so
little about it. I was always taught in my family to vote in every election because my vote
mattered. I asked my roommate if she had voted and she answered back with well no I don t
really know who to vote for and my vote wouldn t matter anyways, so I m just not going to do
it... I was baffled at how little she cared and how she didn t want to try to understand more about
the people running in order for her to make an educated decision and vote. If we as citizens of the
US all thought this way and no one cared enough to try to understand what is going on around us in
our government then this could be dangerous. In a study conducted it shows just how... Show more

The fact that we know more about a cartoon than we do about our freedoms is terrifying. I feel as
though our younger generation has taken for granted the wonderful nation we live in that allows
them to post on social media, take selfies, say what they want, and even wear what they want.
They are so self consumed that things like politics are not even a blimp on their radar so why try
to learn more about it. I myself was not too sure on who I would be voting for a couple days before
the election, so I took the time educated myself on all the candidates and then was surer about my
vote. If we as a younger generation do not take the time to study an understand all of these
political matters then worse could come to worse and we could lose our freedom just by
allowing others who may not have the countries best interest make all the decisions for us.
Education is the key to success and without educating ourselves on what is going on in the world
we live in we are allowing others to take control of freedom. In conclusion some of our generation
is becoming self consumed with social media, technology, and being too lazy to care about what is
going on the political world around us and this is what is keeping us from being

The Awakening: 2014 Prompt
In The Awakening by Kate Chopin, Edna Pontellier is a housewife who spend her days chatting
with friends and going to the beach in Grand Isle, Louisiana. She feels empty, and almost like an
object, whose sole purpose is to satisfy the needs of her family. However, after a summer on Grand
Isle, she begins to express her feelings and desires with the help of her friends and the surrounding
Creole culture. Edna eventually undergoes a massive transformation during which she discovers
what she is really passionate about and begins to do what she wants, when she wants, without the
limitations of her husband or children. However during this ... Show more content on

However, all the time she spends listening to piano playing, is time she is not spending with her
children or husband and neglecting her social duties. They become so distanced around this time
that they are not even sleeping in the same bed and barely even see each other. This demonstrates
that all of Edna s creative ventures have come at a price, her marriage, but she values her self
expression so much that she does not seem to mind.
Edna s sacrifice of her family also illuminates one of her main values, freedom. In the beginning
of the novella, Edna is reserved and demure. However her friendship with Adele Ratignolle
encourages her to follow the creole style of expression and become more open and candid with
her actions and voice. The friendship helps her learn to value herself as a person with real
emotions, rather than a piece of property for her husband. This marks the beginning of her
awakening, as she becomes more open with her feelings, prompting her to further her relationship
with Robert. They begin to move past the level of innocent flirtation the Creoles are accustomed
to, against the advice of Adele, leading Edna to a new sexual freedom as she continuously chooses
to spend her time with Robert rather than her family. However, perhaps one of the most prominent
examples of Edna s high value of freedom comes at the very end

Moral Panic Examples
A moral panic is an event that has the potential to take place all over the world and is not
restricted by time, culture or a specific religion (Luce, 2012: 399). When these panics occur,
there are various players involved. For example there are those whose actions result in the
initiation of the panic, as well those who take advantage of these actions, such as the media in
various ways such as images so as to possibly benefit themselves or draw negative attention in the
direction of a certain group. In my essay I am going to discuss what a moral panicactually is and
carefully examine an example of a moral panic that has taken place in society such as the HIV

The people who initially knew about it were distressed as they did not know how it was
contracted or how to prevent themselves from falling victim to it and medical researchers had

HIV s existence, blame was almost immediately placed in the direction of the homosexual
community as they were the first ones to be discovered as having contracted the virus and a
large number of the reported cases were originally from homosexuals (Luce, 2013: 400). Soon
enough, an impression was given in many newspapers and by the press that the virus was
somehow a form of punishment cast upon that group by God for living the sort of lifestyle that
was considered as morally wrong by society as well as various religions, and this subsequently
also created a moral panic around homosexuality, even though the virus was soon discovered to
also be contracted by the use of infected needles as well as heterosexual unprotected intercourse
but that discovery was disregarded by the media. It was also revealed that most of the data that was

Political Frame In Healthcare
As mentioned in the textbook, the political frame describes the behind the scenes structure and
functioning of every organization. The political frame is essential to the functioning from an
organizational stand point, with things such as authority, power etc., because authority and power
are required so that employees can look up to someone in moments of distress and can the
authoritarian persons can also be responsible for the final outcomes and the main goals of the
organization they work for. However, the political frame comes with its own set of drawbacks with

Doctors can easily make money off of advertising drugs of certain pharmaceutical companies,
and this fact was proved by the investigating doctor. As Dr. Prasad followed developments on the
situation and tried to inquire, he discovered that those doctors had received thousands of dollars
worth incentives and bonuses from pharmaceutical companies, and hence were off to promote
their brands. When Dr. Prasad raised question on the issue, he was asked to stay off because the
other doctors claimed that medical doctors should stay off the topic of rising costs of drugs in
the medical industry. This conflict can have a drastic effect on the patients and the other people
in the organization. For one reason, the patients will be convinced to purchase the drugs that are
being advertised over other products that could better suit them and may take longer to heal and
will have to pay a lot more money thus affecting their financial stability, given that health care
costs are forever on the rise. In this way the conflict of interest can interfere with the ability of a

All The Shah s Men
All the Shah s Men by Stephen Kinzer details the 1953 American orchestrated coup in Iran. Iran
was under British economic control, but as it modernized, Iranians began fighting for their own
control. Their fledgling democracy was working to modernize, until the UK and the US decided to
interfere to protect Britain s colonial holdings from Soviet influence. Because the US was not
interested in protecting a British business, British politicians emphasized the threat the USSR held
to Iran, leading to Americans inserting themselves into a nation s politics in which they had no
place. They successfully orchestrated a coup, however, the negative, long term, anti Western results
overwhelm any positive effect. All the Shah s Men by Stephen Kinzer paints a picture of the results
of action without adequate attention to future results.
All the Shah s Men details the Iranian coup of 1953. The British, as a colonial power, ran the Anglo
Iranian Oil Company, which provided much of the oil Britain needed during World War II. Not only
that, but it provided large amounts of revenue for the nation. Meanwhile, the Iranians were not
benefiting from the arrangement, as the British mistreated the Iranian workers and paid only a
minute amount of the profits to the Iranian government. A politician, Mossadegh, arose who would
work to nationalize Iranian oil production, taking away economic and political power from the
British. Obviously, the British were unwilling to accept this, and, incensed at

I Heard A Fly Buzz-When I Died
Emily Dickinson was fascinated by death and immortality; in her poem I Heard a Fly Buzz When
I Died she reveals her insight on a shared but unknown experience. A speaker, who is describing
his or her death from beyond the grave, narrates the poem, which can be interpreted with either
heavily Christian in its symbolism, or as the literal description of the dying experience. Dickinson
uses the poetryelements of symbolism, imagery and point of view to give us an ironic poem, about
dying and the afterlife, which leaves the reader unsure of what s on the other side of death. There is
a disagreement in the literary world over the meaning of the fly, its symbolism and relationship
to the speaker in the poem (Ruby 139). Dickinson might have used the fly in order to showcase
that the dying speaker was still aware of the physical world but his or her senses were fading as
the body surrenders to death With Blue uncertain stumbling Buzz (Line 13). The fly could also
have been used as an ironic symbol of death, decay, and human mortality. Since the fly is a
creature that feeds and lays its eggs in dead flesh. Some critics think that the fly has a more sinister
and dark meaning. They believe that the fly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Oliver Cromwell is and has always been one of the most controversial characters in British and
Irish history. There are few people in Great Britain and Ireland today who have not yet heard of
Oliver Cromwell and either loathe him or see him as a hero. Yet, the world is not black and white
and so is the truth about Cromwell. In order to understand his role in both countries as a whole,
one has to look at the perspective of both nations, Cromwell s beliefs and his motives.
Oliver Cromwell s religious belief was one of the most important influences on his doings and
shaped his way of thinking immensely. Cromwell was a highly religious man and member of
Puritans. Basically, the word Puritan means that its followers had a pure soul and ... Show more

Throughout history, Cromwell has been portrayed in very different lights, especially in Great
Britain. It is an undeniable fact that Cromwell contributed some good to his country. For instance,
numerous laws were made less severe and politics as well as justice less corrupt. In matters of
religion, he granted freedom of worship. Yet, after his death Cromwell was seen as a tyrant and a
king slayer and the people were tired of living under such strict rules. Regarding politics, debates
arose about what effect he had on the political system after his death. It is incontrovertible that his
rule was one of the turning points in British history, as Cromwell ensured that a king would never
be able to rule on his own.
However, nowhere is Cromwell more associated with fevered anti Catholicism and murder than in
Ireland. Cromwell came to Ireland in 1649 pursuing two objectives: to place the island firmly
under the control of British leaders and to suppress those Royalists who wanted to return to the
status quo, in which English monarchy ruled. Those Loyalists and also Irish Catholics were
especially a thorn in the side of Cromwell, as he believed they were all potential traitors and willing
to help any Catholic uprising that wanted to attack England. Cromwell personified the anti
Catholicism of his time and he believed he was carrying out the orders from God by taming the
Irish. His first target was Drogheda, a town in which he slaughtered thousands of Irish people.

Surrogacy And The Adoption Of The Surrogate
Q1) As a doctor how would you deconstruct the concept of surrogacy for our readers who may
want to go in for the option? Please elucidate with two different types of surrogacy etc
A1) Surrogacy is a process in which a woman carries and delivers a baby for someone else
because of some problems involving the intended parents. The women who delivers is the
gestational surrogate or carrier. The parents are called as intended parents . They are fully involved
in the pregnancy, present at birth and become the child s parents after its birth. There are two types

When would you suggest a couple to opt for surrogacy?
A2.) Surrogacy is an arrangement when a woman agrees to carry a pregnancy for another couple
who will become the newborn s parents after birth of the baby.
The couple is asked to opt for surrogacy if the patient does not have a uterus, she has problems in
uterus, she is unable to carry pregnancy safely, pregnancy is medically impossible, serious
medical condition that could be exacerbated by pregnancy or cause significant risk to fetus,
biological inability to conceive( homosexual couple). It is also an option if the couple has had
multiple failures in IVF.
If the surrogate receives monetary compensation, it is called commercial surrogacy. If no payment
is done except for medical reimbursement and basic pregnancy expenses, it is called as altruistic
surrogacy.
Q3) What kind of medical, emotional and legal/paperwork preparations that a couple requires to
undergo before opting for surrogacy?
A3) Decision to use surrogacy is very complicated and psychosocial education and counselling by a
qualified mental health professional should be given to all intended parents. Genetic parents should
undergo genetic evaluation, complete medical and physical evaluation. Before acceptance and
within six months of creating the embryos to be transferred, genetic parents undergo the following
tests and if found positive, the genetic

Cabaret Play Analysis
Cabaret (1998) by Joe Masteroff, John Kander and Fred Ebb is a thrilling tale set in pre WWI
Berlin. The first showing of Cabaret on Broadway was in 1966, but an earlier rendition of the
play, entitled I Am a Camera premiered in 1951, in London, England (Smith). Each version of
Cabaret has differences, the 1998 version specifically has a darker edge than the earlier versions.
Cabaret has long been one of my favorite musicals and I felt very honored to get to be a part of
CMC s production. The main theme of the play is adaptation. This is a main theme because the
story of Cabaret highlights a very tumultuous time in history and the characters were forced to
adapt to the changes; a skill that everyone in the world must learn to do. Sopris Theatre... Show

One of the most important dances in the entire show is If You Could See Her . Sung by the
Emcee, If You Could See Her is the last comedic scene of the show, mainly because the Emcee s

the show. I made the decision while choregraphing to play off the initial humor of the Gorilla,
making my movements very grounded and jerky. The song however is not truly happy and the
Emcee states at the end that if you could see her through my eyes, referring to the Gorilla, she
wouldn t look Jewish at all . I wanted this line to have impact with the audience. To achieve this,
I choreographed the Emcee and myself not moving, fist looking at each other and then looking
to the audience, almost accusingly when he refers to the Gorilla as being Jewish. In dance some
of most powerful moments are when there is no movement, and I used this idea to my advantage
in this dance. I was very satisfied with the gasps and reactions of shock that we were able to
achieve in that moment. I believe that the use of dance in Cabaret help make the messages so
impactful and was so excited to help create the dances for CMC s

In a diverse work environment the management of a company or firm is a crucial role. With firms

a lens for looking at, identifying, developing, and advancing talent. So when they think about

to relate to the diversity of the population that they recruit from.
Leaders need to know that they have to build accountability into their systems with regard to their
managers taking responsibility for creating a diverse and inclusive work environment. We often see
the people at the very top saying all the right things relative to diversity, but their middle

Analysis Of Alive And Robinson Crusoe
The theme of perseverance is prominently featured through both Alive and Robinson Crusoe, as
well as the focus on characters who have been unexpectedly marooned. The way the authors present
these themes, develop characters and setting is how my chosen extracts link to each other.
Both novels are based on adventures and describe the life of the characters as they survive after
being marooned in a remote place; however they are two different genres. Alive is a creative
nonfiction novel written in 1974 by Piers Paul Read, which documents the events in 1972 when a
plane carrying 45 passengers crashed in the Andes. The genre allows Read to recount the survivor s
events in the most detailed, accurate way while also using literary techniques associated with fiction
to create an interesting novel. In the extract (page 213 214), Read exhibits the conventions of
creative nonfiction, for example Parrado , and Canessa are characters but they are based on and
represent the survivors and their emotions, attitudes and values. The extract focuses on the physical
and mental perseverance of Canessa and Parrado, who despite difficulties, manage to climb the
mountain after three days. Religion and hope are also themes present in the extract.
Robinson Crusoe is an adventure fiction novel written by Daniel Defoe, published in 1719.

some of the most disciplined people on the face of the earth because they are the ones that are
responsible for educating future generations. They shape the lives of students by passing on
values and beliefs, passion, and a better understanding of their subject matter. In the elementary
grades, students are often asked, What would you like to be when you grow up? I can
remember a time in fourth grade when most of my classmates had responses like astronaut,
rapper, and professional athlete, but our teacher asked, What career could you choose that
would make a difference? Most answers revolved around doctor, nurse, lawyer, and president,
but I raised my hand and responded with teacher. My teacher gave me a look that made me feel
that I was in trouble. She then asked me to explain why I said teacher and I told her that I had
really good teachers that made me realize that there are individuals that have to educate the
doctors, lawyers, and professional athletes and I wanted to be able to be one of those teachers
because I would be able to make a difference. She told me that I was headed in the right direction

The Representation of Miss Emily as an Extended Metaphor...
The Representation of Miss Emily as an Extended Metaphor in Faulkner s A Rose for Emily
The short story, A Rose for Emily, took place in the southern town of Jefferson sometime in the
beginning of the twentieth century. One could say that Miss Emily lived and died under certain
circumstances that could compare to how the Confederacy lived and died as a result of the Civil
War. Miss Emily could represent an extended metaphor for the Old South and its traditions and
customs. Faulkner wrote her character and her appearance, the town, her relationship with the
world, and even her home, to reflect the social background of the Old South, as defined as the time
period between the Colonial Era and Reconstruction.
Emily is a person that with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example that furthers this conclusion is the concept of Emily having to pay taxes, and her refusal
to do so; the North imposed taxes that the South did not wish to have to pay just like Miss Emily
and the town of Jefferson.
Emily s appearance somewhat fell from over the years. She used to be a beautiful woman in her
prime, but when the deputy went to her house to ask her about paying taxes, she looked much
different than before she closed herself up into her house. In that aspect, Emily could be a
metaphor for the appearance of the South during its decline. During war, the North started total
warfare; the total destruction of the South. In events such as Sherman s March to the sea, the
Union Soldiers destroyed a lot of the South. Emily appears to be a ruin of what she once was, just
as the South looked beautiful before war and messy during the Reconstruction period. The same
unkemptness and change from magnificent to unsightly could be said about her house as well.
Miss Emily stays in the confines of her own home for a number of years after her father s death.
The only contact she has is with her servant who takes care of her by getting groceries and
helping her around the house. Her isolation from the world is due to the fact that she cannot accept
the fact that her father is dead, for he was all she had in the first place. This reflects

Swatch and the Global Watch Industry
1. How did Timex succeed the Swiss as world volume leader in the 1950s and 1960s?
Timex toppled the world dominance of the Swiss by streamlining the watch making process
therefore also making the process very scaleable. The Swiss had dominated in an era where very
little competition existed. This paved the way for the Swiss and their high cost watch producers to
remain dominant as consumers really had no alternative to turn to.
Timex introduced watches using a combination of automation, precision tooling, and simpler design
then their Swiss rivals. The Timex movements also incorporated new hard alloy bearings rather

Swatch slashed the number of individual parts that a watch required from 91 to 51 and began

Marketing was also a key area which had to be looked at for Swatch to fully resuscitate the overall
Swiss watch industry. To do this for them, Swatch decided that to do it right, marketing should be
outsourced to specialists. Franz Sprecher, an independent consultant, helped to transition the image

How could Magnetar have lost money? Using information from the rest of the case, describe how
you think they came to the conclusion that the risk of losing money was remote. (Hint: Though this

The risk of losing money lies in the correlation with the asset. Magnetar could lose money if a high

senior tranches of CDO s get impaired. If Magnetar contained securities related to the housing

Changes The Rules Of The Game
Contrary to common wisdom, the absence of traditional leadership does not necessarily lead to
chaos. In fact, powerful groups seem to emerge filling the vacuum and changing the landscape of
industry and society. Decentralization has changes the rules of the game. What once was
considered weakness due to lack of structure and defined leadership and organization, has become
a major force to reckon with, often dealing major blows and defeating traditional centralized
organization. Brafman and Beckstrom likens the centralized organization to a spider that has eight
legs and eight eyes. Cut off the head and the whole organism dies. Similarly in centralized
organization, do away with the leader/leadership and such organization would languish and
collapse. However, this is not the case with decentralized organizations that are likened to a
starfish. There are no heads or leaders to go after. If you cut off one arm of the starfish, the
organism can regenerate the lost arm and the severed arm can also regenerate the whole organism
as well. Like a starfish, attacking a decentralized organization can lead to a magnified opposing
push back. The authors dig into past anthropogenic history and current economic phenomena for
examples to shed light on the immense power that such decentralized organizations wield. They
also address how to spot and distinguish starfish organizations, the importance of their core
components, and strategies to defeat these organizations. In late March 2005,

The Civil War And The 19th Century Essay
The 19th century was one of the most troubling times in human history. Things like the civil war,
child labor and even slavery helped shape the literary culture from 1850 1900. The civil war was a
war fought between the Northern and Southern States in the United States of America. Among the
34 states in January 1861, seven Southern slave states individually declared their secession from the
United Statesof America and formed the Confederate States of America. The first state to secede
was south carolina after the election of president lincoln in 1860. After South Carolina seceded, the
cotton states of Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas followed, seceding in
January and February 1861. Union and Confederate leadership and fighting soldiers on both sides
believed that slavery caused the Civil War. Union men mainly believed the war was to emancipate
the slaves. Confederates fought to protect southern society, and slavery as a part of it. Sectionalism
refers to the different economies, social structure, culture and customs and values of the North and
South. While the south based their economy off of slave labor and plantation agriculture, the North
was urbanizing, industrializing and had feigned slavery out of existence. Southern slaveholding
states, because of their low cost labor, had little need for industrialization. While the North highly
invested in its industrialization, could not compete with the industries of Europe in offering high

Graham et al makes us aware that there remain problems with the way students have been
historically expected to engage in theological reflection and they cite 3 problems. For the purposes
of this paper I will emphasise one with a view of introducing a theological reflection model that is
designed to bring about transformation. According to Graham et al (Graham, Walton, amp; Ward,
2005, p. 7) one of the problems are that pastoral care, contextual analysis and patterns of theological
reflection are often divorced from the study of systematic/historical/biblical disciplines on the
curriculum in theological colleges, courses and seminaries.
Here I wish to offer a theological reflection model that does well to integrate pastoral care, biblical
study and theological reflection and it is also an effective tool for bringing about transformation in
a community. In fact this model is taught at the College of The Transfiguration Grahamstown as
part of the course titled Implementing transformation in a community using Christian principles. It
is also an interdisciplinary model in the sense that it can also be applied in Christian ethics courses.
This model is called SEE JUDGE ACT. I will return to this model later in this paper.
To return to the views of Graham et al, they argue that the history of doctrine should be

Compare And Contrast Classical Conditioning And Learning
Conditioning and Learning The two major types of conditioning along with the two types of
learning have some similarities, but are also unique in several ways. Classical conditioning is the
pairing of two stimuli, whereas operant conditioning is the process which involves changing the
probability that a response will be repeated (Hockenbury, et al., 183). Observational learning occurs
through observing the actions of others. Cognitive learning is a behavioral change based on the
acquisition of problem solving abilities along with intelligence and conscious thoughts
(Hockenbury, et al., 183) . Different forms of conditioning and learning may be grouped together,
but there are different branches which cover different theories and perspectives. Classical
conditioningis formally defined as the basic learning process that involves repeatedly pairing a
neutral stimulus with a response producing stimulus until the neutral stimulus elicits the same
response (Hockenbury, et al., 183). Brought about by Russian scientist, Ivan Pavlov, classical
conditioning (also known as Pavlovian conditioning) deals with behaviors that are elicited
automatically by some stimulus (Hockenbury, et al., 183). A famous example of this is Pavlov s
experiment with salivating dogs. Unconditioned stimulus, unconditioned responses, conditioned
stimulus, and conditioned responses are the four principles of this theory. The unconditioned
stimulus is the natural stimulus that reflexively brings forth a

Zapata Class Divide
The Mexican muralist movement produced artwork on walls that defined the social and
political atmosphere of Mexico. Diego Rivera was an innovator in the muralist movement that
helped depict the Mexican Revolution for its violence and demand for equality among the
lower class (Gonzales 240 45). Rivera s painting, Agrarian Leader Zapata, exemplifies the
hardships of the revolution through a group of rebel, lower class farmers led by Emiliano Zapata
who is standing over a dead, elite soldier. Agrarian Leader Zapata, utilizes the contrast of the
soldiers, the focus on Zapata, and symbolism to convey the idea that the class divide was the root
of violence and the outbreak of the Mexican Revolution. Rivera uses aesthetic disparities the
farmers and the soldier to illustrate the class divide present in Mexico. Rivera exhibits class divide,
notably through the clothing and weaponry of the figures. Rivera uses clothing to convey the
motivations of the farmers. The farmers wear white while the soldier wears a traditional dark,
military uniform. The contrast of the white clothing of the farmers and dark clothing of the soldier

Expectancy Theory Of Motivation
The Expectancy Theory illustrates the mental process that employees endure when making
decisions while doing voluntary things. The theory describes that the effort will determine the
performance and the performance will help indicate the overall outcome. Expectancy represents
the belief that exerting a high level of effort will result in the successful performance of some task,
(Dr. Creasy PowerPoint). There are some advantages of the expectancy theory. One advantage is
that it emphasizes on rewards or pay offs, (Expectancy Theory of Motivation, n.d., para. 5). In
Remember the Titans, Coach Herman Boone, portrayed by Denzel Washington, expects big things
out of his high school football team. As the newly appointed head coach and a black man, Coach
Boone was faced with big expectations or else he would have to face the consequences. Coach
Boone established that his team would show tremendous effort in the fall football camp at
Gettysburg College. He set ground rules as he told all of his players that they would leave the
school by 7:29 AM and made them all wear dress shirts, ties, and a jacket. Coaches appreciate the
athletes that display the expectancy theory because they want more out of their team. At Gettysburg
College, All American linebacker Gerry Bertier, confronted fellow starting linebacker, Julius
Campbell and wanted him to put in more effort during practice and play the right assignment. As
captain of the team, Gerry needed to assert himself and expect more from

Later, while on the shore with his family, Dick decides to attempt a foolish trick involving a
speed boat, inspired by the closeness of Rosemary s exciting youth (282). This desperately insecure
need for external validation is characteristic of a prepubescent level of maturity which Dick surely
should have overcome long ago.
As his descent continues, Dick is even less convincingly able to act like the mature professional.
He gets drunk more frequently and is involved in a violent fight with some taxi drivers, and later
he inadvertently insults Mary North s in laws, showing he has lost some of his previously
impeccable manners. Even his mentally ill wife can see the results of his behavior, telling him,
You re a coward! You ve made a failure of your life and you want to blame it on me (301). Dick has
seemingly given up on acting like a grown up and all of its difficulties in favor of a more
immature, morally ignorant lifestyle.
Not only does Dick Diver s longing for youthful innocence show in his own youthful behavior, but

The Issue Of Anthropogenic Climate Change
Is mankind going to willingly make life on Earth miserable for the next generation? Our climate is
changing due to humanity s irresponsible actions, and many are just living their lives as if nothing
is going on. The issue of anthropogenic, or human caused climate change has arose due to the
increase in carbon dioxideand other greenhouse gasses in our atmosphere. Of these, Carbon dioxide
is a huge culprit in anthropogenic climate change, as humans produce incredible amounts of it
through environmentally irresponsible machines. Also, the issue of anthropogenic climate change
is becoming a political issue, with the main argument being over regulation of businesses to
reduce carbon output. Whether humans are politically active or not, they need to realize that
anthropogenic climate change is a real issue and begin to fix it. To realize that the issue of
anthropogenic climate change is true and begin to fix it, the population of Earth must understand
the evidence of the crisis, the effects of the crisis, and how it can be fixed. There is undeniable
proof of anthropogenic climate change. We are only contributing to the issue, despite having
known about the issue of anthropogenic climate change for years. According to the Carbon
Dioxide Information Analysis Center, The atmospheric carbon dioxide levels are rising, causing
climate change to worsen. According to NASA, the levels of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere
were at 400.57 Parts Per Million in August, with the level in

Jfk Assassination Conclusion
The assassination of John F Kennedy
Dear readers,
This week I would write about one of the greatest conspiracies that the world has seen, and this is
the assassination of John F Kennedy. The 35th President of the United States was shot the
November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas at 12.30pm . He was fatally shot in his wife s car. The ten
month investigation concluded that the President had been assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald that
was founded dead while he was in police custody by Jack Ruby.
The official explanation and the conclusion that Oswald was the lone gunman firing from the Texas
Book Depository overlooking Dealey Plaza where Kennedy was hit surfaced soon after the
commission report. The moments of impact recorded on the film also

Muhammad And The Insistent Adulterer
One question about Muhammad s leadership that some people take for granted is, Was
Muhammad the natural leader for his group? On a surface level it does make sense to nominate
the guy who s actually talking to God to be the person in charge of the affairs of your tribe.
However, there are situations where it would just be practical to have both Muhammadas a spiritual
leader or adviser, as well as a leader in charge of making the big decisions for the group. For
instance, we discussed heavily in class the classic bedtime story: Muhammad and the Insistent
Adulterer. The class was split on the issue of how Muhammad handled the confession. Some argued
that the eleven lifelines Muhammad gave showed his human mercy. Others argued that giving

Mary Kay Concealer Essay
Your appearance, beauty, and what you wear are what make a first impression on others. When
you show up with tired, under eye circles, it may appear that you are overtired. It is important
that you are able to cover up these shadows in order to appear more awake. The Mary Kay
Concealer is designed to help combat the problem of under eyecircles. The colorof the formula is
able to conceal the purple bluish shadows on the face. Mary Kay concealer can help you achieve
the illusion of perfection by brightening the under eye area.
The Mary Kay concealer is used for combating the problem of dark shadows underneath the eyes.
In color correcting, opposite colors on the color wheel are used to counteract the tone on the skin.
For example, green is able to diffuse redness or red spots, like blemishes. Just like green, yellow is a
color corrector and can be used to neutralize bluish purple shadows on the face. The formula of
the concealer is a variance of red, orange and yellow tones. This color is opposite of blues and
purples on the color wheel, making it neutralize the colors. The Mary Kay makeup comes in six
shades: light ivory, light beige, deep ivory, deep beige, light bonze, deep bronze. Each shade
matches a specific type of skin pigment, and spans from light to dark. ... Show more content on

Along with that, it also has several other benefits. For example, it is able to cover up blemishes,
age spots, and any other dark marks on the skin. The makeup also blurs any fine lines so you can

sulky for the complexion. It also is long lasting in order to offer complete coverage for the full
day. It has been dermatologist tested to ensure it s fine for sensitive skin. It won t clog the pores or

Izanami Creation Story
One creation story says that long ago, two gods named Izanagi and Izanami were commanded
by the primal gods to make and solidify the land of Japan. The two gods then threw a spear into
the sea. The mud that dripped from the spear became an island, and there, Izanagi and Izanami
built a palace and married each other. Over time, Izanami gave birth to the islands of Japan and
many deities, but she died giving birth to her last one, who was a fire god. Angry, Izanagi
beheaded his son and followed Izanami to Yomi, the Land of the Dead, urging her to return back
with him. Izanami warned him not to look at her, and went to consult with the gods of Yomi.
Growing impatient after waiting, Izanagi entered into the palace of the gods of Yomi, and saw
Izanami. Izanagi fled from Izanami, only escaping by covering the entrance to Yomi with a large
boulder. After, he went to river to purify himself. When... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This germ began to mix things around until the heavier part sank and the lighter part rose. A muddy
sea that covered the earth was created, and from the sea grew a single green shoot, growing until
it reached the clouds and transformed into a god. This one god created many other gods, two
being Izanagi and Izanami, the most remarkable of them all. One day, Izanagi thrust his staff into
the waters to see what was beneath. When he pulled it up, muddy clumps fell back into the ocean.
These clumps hardened until they became the islands of Japan. Izanagi and Izanami got married
there later. The first child that Izanami bore had radiant beauty. The gods decided that she was too
pretty to live in Japan, so they sent her to the sky where she became the sun. Their second
daughter, Tsuki yami, became the moon, and their third and unruly son, Sosano wo, was sentenced
to sea where he created storms. Later, their first child, Amaterasu, gave birth to a son who became

The Effects Of Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors
Introduction
Feeling empty, hopeless and pessimistic, overwhelmed with guilt and irritability, a loss of
interest in activities and fatigue, these are all symptoms of being a teenager, or perhaps an
indication of a greater issue; childhood depression (Kazdin, 2006). Childhood depression has
estimates of a 1 year prevalence as high as 2.5% in children and 8.3% in adolescence (Valnuck,
Libby, Sills, Giese, Allen, 2004). This is a tragic suffering experienced by many youths, but in
1987 there was the introduction of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI s). At first glance,
antidepressants may seem to be the answer to a parent of a depressed child s prayers, however
they are accompanied by a terrifying potential side effect (Isacsson, Holmgren, Ahlner, 2005). In
2004 the US FDA issued an advisory warning stating that antidepressant use in youth patients may
be linked to an increase in suicidal behavior (US Food and Drug Administration, 2004). Following
this warning there have been many studies conducted to examine the validity of this black box
caution, and mixed findings have arose. When taking this possibility into consideration, and
remembering that not all pharmacotherapy will result in suicide in adolescence, an important
question to evaluate is whether or not there is sufficient evidence to support the increased
prevalence of suicide among adolescence who use SSRI s, and if this risk is outweighed by the
potential benefits for the use of antidepressants,

How Did Langston Hughes Contribute To The Harlem Renaissance
The Harlem Renaissance stands as one of the greatest cultural, social and artistic movements in U.S.
history. This time period consisted of a migration of black Americans from rural Southern states
such as Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana to urban Harlem, New York. Originally called, the New
Negro Movement meaning, many believed this brought a new black cultural identity to an almost
all white culture. At this time, Langston Hughes, famous Harlem Renaissanceauthor, wrote many
controversial pieces about slavery, he mentions that they send him to eat in the kitchen (Hughes 1)
which describes how many slaves suffered in these days. For America, this movement helped
redefine how America saw the African Americancommunity, and it helped set the stage for the
Civil Rights Movement of 1950 1960. For Langston Hughes, his works reflected his love for jazz
music but also told the story of what he saw and heard back in the 1920 s to the 1930 s, what most
call, the Harlem Renaissance.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With whites standing as the more dominant race back then, many of them became curious of what
actually occurred in the daily life of a black man in Harlem. This curiosity lit the match for the
Harlem Renaissance to occur. Many African American poets, singers, and painters, like Langston
Hughes, came into the light at this time and joined in on the cultural tradition of African American
humor, music, and song; their work thus accords a privileged place for the many and varied sounds
of laughter in black America at this time (Chasar 58). The culture these African Americans brought
to an almost white country in every way other than color, deems worthy of more praise than it
received. The Harlem Renaissance brought a cultural explosion to a predominantly white nation.
The effects of this cultural blend became far reaching even though it gained far less recognition than

Silky Sifaka Research Paper
The silky sifaka (Propithecus candidus), or silky simpona, is a large lemur characterized by
long, silky white fur. It has a very restricted range in northeastern Madagascar, where it is known
locally as the simpona. It is one of the rarest mammals on Earth, and is listed by the International
Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as one of the world s 25 most critically endangered
primates. The silky sifaka is one of nine sifaka species (genus Propithecus), and one of four
former subspecies of diademed sifaka (P. diadema). Studies in 2004 and 2007 compared external
proportions, genetics, and cranio dental anatomy supporting full species status, which has
generally been accepted. The silky sifaka has a variable social structure, and lives in groups of
two to nine individuals. It spends most of its day feeding and resting, though it also devotes a
considerable amount of time to social behaviors, such as playing and grooming, as well as
traveling. Females occasionally take priority over males during feeding. Like other eastern
sifakas, it consumes mainly leaves and seeds, but also fruit, flowers, and even soil on occasion.
It is a seasonal breeder and only mates one day a year during the start of the rainy season. As with
other sifaka species, non maternal infant care is common. Group members of all ages and both
sexes will... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A few groups have also been found in the Makira Forest Protected Area, the Betaolana Corridor,
and some unprotected forest fragments. The silky sifaka is hunted throughout its range as there is
no local fady (taboo) against eating this species. Habitat disturbance, such as slash and burn
agriculture (tavy), illegal logging of precious woods (particularly, rosewood) and fuel wood, also
occurs within the protected areas where it is

What Are The Strengths And Weaknesses Of Breadtalk
Introduction
Founded in July 2000 in Singapore by George Quek and his wife, Katherine Lee, BreadTalk
Group Limited ( BreadTalk or the Group ) started off as a promising company specialised in the
bakery business that was best known for its signature floss buns. Three years later, it had rapidly
expanded into a major food retailer and was listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange in 2003. With
the goal of becoming a global, trend setting and lifestyle brand that focuses on food and beverage,
BreadTalk started venturing and introducing new food culture and flavours to the market.
Supported by over 7000 global staff base to date, the Group operates 917 outlets of boutique

Unlike Food Republic, these chains have discount cards to build on customer loyalty and they have
a broader reach to consumers as they operate more outlets in Singapore. Its largest competitors,
Kopitiam, have even catered to the Muslin community by opening Banquet, a full fledged Halal
food court (scribd). On the other hand, the closest competitors of its restaurant business segment are
Crystal Jade and Imperial Treasure restaurants, both of which offer a similar dining concept at
comparable prices. Meantime, new entrants and existing bread firms like Four Leaves, Prima Deli
Bakery and Bangawan Solo are also competing with BreadTalk directly to offer more bread
selections. Similar product offerings are easily imitated at highly competitive prices which will
significantly affect BreadTalk s revenue of the sales of bread. Lastly, threat of product substitutes
is present for the Group as customers face low switching cost for takeaway snacks from joints such
as Old Change Kee and Mr.

Example Of My Greatest Achievement
Some of the greatest successes I have experienced during my school year were being in Honor
Society, being awarded a 4.0 G.P.A medal and being awarded the Spirit of Chelan certificate.
Ever since I was in elementary school I strived to be a good student. My father was my main
motivator I wanted him to feel proud of me. After my father passed away I made him a promise
to always give my best and get straight A s. When I was awarded a 4.0 medal I felt the happiest
girl alive. Not because I had gotten good grades , but because I was keeping my dad the promise
I made him . I still mark this as the greatest success in my life. The second greatest achievement
was being part of Honor Society. Through Honor Society I was able to bond with my community
and meet various people. I was able to help in the Chelan Valley Hope and provide food and
resources to low income families. Lastly, being nominated and awarded for the Spirit of Chelan
award. Spirit of Chelan award is awarded to a person who shows outstanding leadership.
Someone who represents the Chelan Valley responsibly and respectfully. This meant a lot to me
because I felt like I was contributing to my community in a positive way. I felt proud that all my
hard work was all worth it. Some of the struggles I experience is being able to manage my
homework with helping my family financially. Currently I struggle with managing my time
efficiently. After college I go and babysit 4 kids until 10 pm. I find myself often doing my

  • 2. What Does It Mean To Be Professional In my opinion, to be professional means a litany of things. In specific, being professional means: to take your work seriously, to be polite to others, to better yourself through feedback, to be reliable, and to be trustworthy. These are just a few characteristics of a professional. Teachers which excel in the profession of education are those who are continuous learners. At the end of the day, teachers who continuously focus on bettering themselves, their classroom, and adapt their learning environment to meet environmental changes, excel in the profession. A teacher which strives to excel is critical of themselves. They work to improve their lesson plans even when they feel they are perfect. A teacher which excels uses veteran teachers as ... • 3. Power Of Sin In Lord Of The Flies The Power of Sin John F. Kennedy once said, forbidden fruit tastes sweet, but it s after taste is bitter . This means that temptations and curiosity lead to sin, which has consequences. Although there was no fruit involved, defiance of a higher being has always resulted in a drastic outcome. The little red haired girl could not resist temptations. She went against her father s orders and got carried away with the wind. A grizzly found her and took her in to be raised with his family. In these times bears walked on two legs and communicated just as humans do. The eldest grizzly son even had babies with the girl. When the Sky Chief was informed about the new race that he had not created, he was furious. He put a curse on the grizzlies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Importance Of Education In Public Schools What would happen to society if everyone was the same? Thats easy, we would cease to be human beings and become mindless robots. There would be no more art, music or literature because everyone thinks and acts the same way. We can t allow ourselves to become mindless husks we need to strive for more creative thinking to better expand our horizons for generations to come. Taking away the ability to be creative and to think differently is a heinous crime with one prime suspect, schools. Right now schools have failed in providing children the room and support they need to bloom from students to an individual. Public schools were created during the age industrial revolution a time. Schools were modeled after the same work systems of these factories. Putting students in straight lines give them the same work and one correct way to accomplish the work. do it any other way you are branded as a failure and that there is something wrong with you.Its scary to say but these are still the standards set in most schools today. While I agree there is something wrong with all of us. I highly disagree with the disgusting assumption of one way thinking being forced on students. These arguments made that only one way of doing things right is an effective way of preparing students has no solid evidence of working and the men and women enforcing these unjust regulations on youth should be ashamed of their crimes of censorship and subjugation. There are plenty of examples that prove ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Gatsby and Daisy, Tom and Myrtle, and George The relationship between Tom and Myrtle was different from Gatsby and Daisy s relationship. Tom, described with physical strength, has his history, abilities, and sensuality that make him right. On the other hand, his wife, Daisy comes out to be the weakest character from a reader s point of view, because people ask her for a lot ( Great , Scott). Tom always claimed that he was deeply in love with Daisy, but every chance he had to leave town he went and slept with Myrtle Wilson. She knew Tom was married but that did not stop her from loving him. Tom left town one day and decided to drag Nick along with him. He convinces Myrtle that he wants her to leave with him and Nick on the train to the apartment on 158th Street (Baker). Myrtle is married to Wilson. After Myrtle buys a puppy, Tom and her head back to their city apartment along with Nick. The apartment began to flutter with people as Myrtle had decided to throw a party. Nick was curious to know what their appearance would look like to an outside observer because the party only merged to get drunker as the puppy sat in the smoky air ( Great , Novels). In the other room, Tom was having his affair with Myrtle. It was loud enough that Nick and the women could hear them repeatedly. Nick was shocked that Tom took his wife s cousin to such a place where he cheated on his wife. That is part of the reason Nick encouraged Daisy to come to dinner with Gatsby. After a few short drinks, Myrtle starts getting loud. She begins to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Decline Of A Fall A fall is defined as inadvertently coming to rest on the ground, floor or some lower level, excluding intentional change in position to rest. Another definition states that a fall is an event reported either by the faller or a witness, resulting in a person inadvertently coming to rest on the ground or another lower level, with or without loss of consciousness or injury. The worldwide populationof the older adult as reported by the World Health Organization (WHO) may grow to 1.5 billion by the year 2050. The astounding fact is that approximately eighty percent (80%) will be living in developing countries. A senior citizen or older adult is defined as a person aged 65 years and older. This is the fastest growing population around... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Considering the magnitude of the ageing population and socio economic changes around the world, measures to keep older people healthy and active are of utmost importance. (WHO, 2007). In most developed countries, population aging is a gradual process and most of the older adults live independently. Traditionally it was the responsibility of the family to care for older adults. We find ourselves in a care giving crisis as roles are changing, employment of women taking a major role, erosion of traditional family values, and an increasing trend for nuclear families. (Dsouza, 2014). The number of older adults living alone is increasing. Older adults are living both in residential care facilities or nursing homes and most often on their own in communities for the aged. It is estimated that more than 50% of those living in nursing homes and residential facilities fall every year and about 50% of these fall repeatedly. (CMS, 2014). The actual incidence is likely to be even higher, since many falls are not reported. Falls often lead to reduced functioning, which increases morbidity and mortality. Around 20% of falls need medical attention, 5 10% result in fractures (with one in five of these being a hip fracture), severe head injuries and joint distortions, and 5 10% in soft tissue contusions hcdxd lacerations. Fall induced injuries are the fifth leading cause of death in elderly adults ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Tesis Gender Roles Gender representations in Tesis The 1996 Spanish horror film Tesis (dir. Alejandro Amenabar) receives huge success in both domestic and international markets, and the film mixes the ideas about masculinity and femininity in characters to distinguish itself from Hollywood films while intimating them at the same time. The first seduction scene in Tesis happened in Angela s (Ana Torrent) bedroom. Opening the door of her bedroom, Angel expressed her discomfort of being on camera to Bosco (Eduardo Noriega) who showed up uninvited. Bosco replied with a flirtatious comment about how beautiful Angela was. Angel quickly moved on to question Bosco about his camera which he insisted that he got it second handed. Suddenly, Angela mother called from the hallway, asking Bosco to stay for lunch. Bosco stuck his head out to accept the offer, looking exactly like the James Dean mannequin in the walkway. Bosco was so gorgeous that he was almost not real. His representation of masculinity was so perfect that it seemed off. The Bosco character was clearly one of the ways Tesis used to challenge Hollywood s hegemony by co opting its methods and improving upon them (Buckley, 3). He had all the Hollywood star quality, but he is also a psychopath. The camera panned right as Bosco returned to his position, showing a creepy grim on his face. Accompanied by disturbing non diegetic music, he quickly closed the bind and commanded Angela to sit on her bed for better lighting. Angela rushed through her script, but Bosco wanted to record her closer and started to move closer to her while she was protesting his action. The camera followed Bosco and stopped at a close up when their faces are so close that they almost kissed. They just looked at each other, and through the gap between them, there was a poster of an American queer cinema classic, My Own Private Idaho. • 8. Rider And The Rider Book Review Dan Heath and Chip Heath in this book are addressing what should be done to make the needed switch to accept the desired or needed change. The authors used a nice metaphor illustrating the brain as the Rider and the emotions as the Elephant, while the Rider and the Elephant are in consistent conflict to pick or acceptthe right direction for the change journey to make it to the final destination. The battel between the two is mainly whether we can make the journey or it s not worth the efforts and stay where you are just live with the status quobecause your team, the community is unable to try the new journey. The authors are providing some guidance to mitigate this vital conflict, to balance and compromise the needs and the fears of the Riders... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In highly successful change efforts, people find ways to help others see the problems or solutions in ways that influence emotions, not just thought (105). Most people think change happens in this order: ANALYZE THINK CHANGE (106), which is normal when parameters are known, assumptions are minimal, and the future is not fuzzy (106). But during the change situation with the uncertain environment where the parameters is not well known and the future is fuzzy , in this case, the change pattern is not ANALYZEВTHINK CHANGE, but rather SEE FEEL CHANG (106). A second good way to motivate the Elephant is to Shrink the Change . It means breaking the ultimate goal into small achievable objectives and building momentum to keep the Elephant going towards the final destination. To get the Elephant off its duff, you need to reassure it that the task won t be so bad. (131), so motivate actions that could generate small achievements and it will spiral hope that change was possible. Furthermore, you need to Grow your People to accept a new identity during change as no nobody was born with his professional identity as doctor, engineer, scientist. It s the identity you seek and others cultivate in you such as your teachers, supervisors, and leaders around you. To achieve change, you need to promote the growth mindset. People with such mindset believe that abilities are like muscles they can be built up with practice. That is, with concerted effort, you can make yourself better and you tend to accept more challenges despite the risk of failure (164), by that the Elephant is not reluctant of the journey of change anymore. In the third part of the book Shape the Path, the authors are addressing what seen as people problem is often a situational or environment problem. So what can you do to help the people surrounding you to accept the required change and make it a little bit easier to embrace ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When Oedipus, the eponymous character of Sophocles tragedy Oedipus Rex, first learns that he is destined to kill his father and marry his mother, he abandons his home intent on never returning in order to avoid meeting his fate. Unbeknownst to the tragic hero, before the curtain s rise, the prophecy has already been fulfilled. Consequently, due to the underlying corruption in Thebes, the people are perishing of a plague that will not cease until the man responsible for the death of the previous Theban King, King Laius, is identified and brought to justice. The significance of this theme is conveyed through Sophocles and Shakespeare s usage of dialog, characterization, and symbolism. To start, Sophocles and Shakespeare utilize dialog to illustrate the theme of exile within their respective works. Attempting to ease Oedipus s mind by convincing him that he has nothing to fear in the predictions of the oracles, Jocasta gives the ironic example of the plot to kill her own infant son to avoid a similar prophecy. Sophocles dialog for Jocasta states, But Laius,/ so the report goes at least, was killed by strangers,/ thieves, at a place where three roads meet ... [M]y son / he wasn t three days old and the boy s father / fastened his ankles, had a henchman fling him away on a barren, trackless mountain./ There, you see? (787 793). Although exile, or at least the threat of exile, is prevalently addressed within the dialog of both works, Jocasta s rashness to murder her child is jarring, even more so due to the inappropriately comforting tone with which Jocasta retrospects on such a sinister deed. Likewise, King Lear responds irrationally when he promptly arranges a marriage for Cordelia to the King of France after Cordelia admits that she loves her father only to the extent that it is appropriate for a daughter to love her father. Shakespeare s written dialog for Lear reads, Let her be thine, for we/ Have no such daughter, nor shall ever see/That face of hers again (1.4.264 266). Like Jocasta, who indicated by the ... • 12. Father Diego Dur An Advocate For The Aztecs Of The Aztec... Father Diego DurГЎn was a Dominican priest in Mexico after the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire. He was born in Selville, Spain in 1537 but moved to New Spain as a child. He originally lived in Texcoco but eventually moved to Mexico City and became a priest in 1556. He became fluent in the native language Nahuatl and gained the inhabitants trust with his understanding nature and respect for their culture. He used his experiences and access to first hand knowledge to write three books, The Ancient Calendar, The History of the Indies of New Spain, and The Book of Gods and Rites, collectively known as the DurГЎn Codex. DurГЎn was an advocate for the Aztecs living in New Spain, but he was still a Catholic priest who saw everything he did through the lense of potential conversion. During his extensive study of the local culture he came to see the parallels between his faith and indigenous religion as evidence of Abrahamic religion having been brought to the New World and corrupted by the Devil. The only way, according to DurГЎn, to truly root out the satanic practices of the Mesoamerican religions was to understand them. He wrote the DurГЎn Codex to both help that missionary work and satisfy his own curiosity. The Book of Gods and Rites was written from 1574 to 1576. Fifty years before that, Hernan Cortez had taken over the Aztec Empire and toppled it s capital city Tenochtitlan. • 13. The Importance Of Voting In America With the presidential election going on today I am baffled at how many of my friends care so little about it. I was always taught in my family to vote in every election because my vote mattered. I asked my roommate if she had voted and she answered back with well no I don t really know who to vote for and my vote wouldn t matter anyways, so I m just not going to do it... I was baffled at how little she cared and how she didn t want to try to understand more about the people running in order for her to make an educated decision and vote. I feel as though our younger generation has taken for granted the wonderful nation we live in that allows them to post on social media, take selfies, say what they want, and even wear what they want. They are so self consumed that things like politics are not even a blimp on their radar so why try to learn more about it. I myself was not too sure on who I would be voting for a couple days before the election, so I took the time educated myself on all the candidates and then was surer about my vote. If we as a younger generation do not take the time to study an understand all of these political matters then worse could come to worse and we could lose our freedom just by allowing others who may not have the countries best interest make all the decisions for us. Education is the key to success and without educating ourselves on what is going on in the world we live in we are allowing others to take control of freedom. In conclusion some of our generation is becoming self consumed with social media, technology, and being too lazy to care about what is going on the political world around us and this is what is keeping us from being ... Grace Millan Mrs. Schroeder AP Literature and Composition January 3 2017 The Awakening: 2014 Prompt In The Awakening by Kate Chopin, Edna Pontellier is a housewife who spend her days chatting with friends and going to the beach in Grand Isle, Louisiana. She feels empty, and almost like an object, whose sole purpose is to satisfy the needs of her family. However, after a summer on Grand Isle, she begins to express her feelings and desires with the help of her friends and the surrounding Creole culture. However, all the time she spends listening to piano playing, is time she is not spending with her children or husband and neglecting her social duties. They become so distanced around this time that they are not even sleeping in the same bed and barely even see each other. This demonstrates that all of Edna s creative ventures have come at a price, her marriage, but she values her self expression so much that she does not seem to mind. Edna s sacrifice of her family also illuminates one of her main values, freedom. In the beginning of the novella, Edna is reserved and demure. However her friendship with Adele Ratignolle encourages her to follow the creole style of expression and become more open and candid with her actions and voice. The friendship helps her learn to value herself as a person with real emotions, rather than a piece of property for her husband. This marks the beginning of her awakening, as she becomes more open with her feelings, prompting her to further her relationship with Robert. They begin to move past the level of innocent flirtation the Creoles are accustomed to, against the advice of Adele, leading Edna to a new sexual freedom as she continuously chooses to spend her time with Robert rather than her family. When these panics occur, there are various players involved. For example there are those whose actions result in the initiation of the panic, as well those who take advantage of these actions, such as the media in various ways such as images so as to possibly benefit themselves or draw negative attention in the direction of a certain group. Soon enough, an impression was given in many newspapers and by the press that the virus was somehow a form of punishment cast upon that group by God for living the sort of lifestyle that was considered as morally wrong by society as well as various religions, and this subsequently also created a moral panic around homosexuality, even though the virus was soon discovered to also be contracted by the use of infected needles as well as heterosexual unprotected intercourse but that discovery was disregarded by the media. • 18. All The Shah s Men All the Shah s Men by Stephen Kinzer details the 1953 American orchestrated coup in Iran. Iran was under British economic control, but as it modernized, Iranians began fighting for their own control. Their fledgling democracy was working to modernize, until the UK and the US decided to interfere to protect Britain s colonial holdings from Soviet influence. Because the US was not interested in protecting a British business, British politicians emphasized the threat the USSR held to Iran, leading to Americans inserting themselves into a nation s politics in which they had no place. They successfully orchestrated a coup, however, the negative, long term, anti Western results overwhelm any positive effect. All the Shah s Men by Stephen Kinzer paints a picture of the results of action without adequate attention to future results. All the Shah s Men details the Iranian coup of 1953. The British, as a colonial power, ran the Anglo Iranian Oil Company, which provided much of the oil Britain needed during World War II. Not only that, but it provided large amounts of revenue for the nation. Meanwhile, the Iranians were not benefiting from the arrangement, as the British mistreated the Iranian workers and paid only a minute amount of the profits to the Iranian government. A speaker, who is describing his or her death from beyond the grave, narrates the poem, which can be interpreted with either heavily Christian in its symbolism, or as the literal description of the dying experience. Dickinson uses the poetryelements of symbolism, imagery and point of view to give us an ironic poem, about dying and the afterlife, which leaves the reader unsure of what s on the other side of death. There is a disagreement in the literary world over the meaning of the fly, its symbolism and relationship to the speaker in the poem (Ruby 139). Dickinson might have used the fly in order to showcase that the dying speaker was still aware of the physical world but his or her senses were fading as the body surrenders to death With Blue uncertain stumbling Buzz (Line 13). The fly could also have been used as an ironic symbol of death, decay, and human mortality. Since the fly is a creature that feeds and lays its eggs in dead flesh. Throughout history, Cromwell has been portrayed in very different lights, especially in Great Britain. It is an undeniable fact that Cromwell contributed some good to his country. For instance, numerous laws were made less severe and politics as well as justice less corrupt. In matters of religion, he granted freedom of worship. Yet, after his death Cromwell was seen as a tyrant and a king slayer and the people were tired of living under such strict rules. Regarding politics, debates arose about what effect he had on the political system after his death. It is incontrovertible that his rule was one of the turning points in British history, as Cromwell ensured that a king would never be able to rule on his own. However, nowhere is Cromwell more associated with fevered anti Catholicism and murder than in Ireland. Cromwell came to Ireland in 1649 pursuing two objectives: to place the island firmly under the control of British leaders and to suppress those Royalists who wanted to return to the status quo, in which English monarchy ruled. Those Loyalists and also Irish Catholics were especially a thorn in the side of Cromwell, as he believed they were all potential traitors and willing to help any Catholic uprising that wanted to attack England. Cromwell personified the anti Catholicism of his time and he believed he was carrying out the orders from God by taming the Irish. His first target was Drogheda, a town in which he slaughtered thousands of Irish people. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Representation of Miss Emily as an Extended Metaphor in Faulkner s A Rose for Emily The short story, A Rose for Emily, took place in the southern town of Jefferson sometime in the beginning of the twentieth century. One could say that Miss Emily lived and died under certain circumstances that could compare to how the Confederacy lived and died as a result of the Civil War. Miss Emily could represent an extended metaphor for the Old South and its traditions and customs. She used to be a beautiful woman in her prime, but when the deputy went to her house to ask her about paying taxes, she looked much different than before she closed herself up into her house. In that aspect, Emily could be a metaphor for the appearance of the South during its decline. During war, the North started total warfare; the total destruction of the South. In events such as Sherman s March to the sea, the Union Soldiers destroyed a lot of the South. What once was considered weakness due to lack of structure and defined leadership and organization, has become a major force to reckon with, often dealing major blows and defeating traditional centralized organization. Brafman and Beckstrom likens the centralized organization to a spider that has eight legs and eight eyes. Cut off the head and the whole organism dies. Similarly in centralized organization, do away with the leader/leadership and such organization would languish and collapse. If you cut off one arm of the starfish, the organism can regenerate the lost arm and the severed arm can also regenerate the whole organism as well. Things like the civil war, child labor and even slavery helped shape the literary culture from 1850 1900. The civil war was a war fought between the Northern and Southern States in the United States of America. Among the 34 states in January 1861, seven Southern slave states individually declared their secession from the United Statesof America and formed the Confederate States of America. The first state to secede was south carolina after the election of president lincoln in 1860. After South Carolina seceded, the cotton states of Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas followed, seceding in January and February 1861. Union and Confederate leadership and fighting soldiers on both sides believed that slavery caused the Civil War. Union men mainly believed the war was to emancipate the slaves. Confederates fought to protect southern society, and slavery as a part of it. Sectionalism refers to the different economies, social structure, culture and customs and values of the North and South. While the south based their economy off of slave labor and plantation agriculture, the North was urbanizing, industrializing and had feigned slavery out of existence. Compare And Contrast Classical Conditioning And Learning Conditioning and Learning The two major types of conditioning along with the two types of learning have some similarities, but are also unique in several ways. Classical conditioning is the pairing of two stimuli, whereas operant conditioning is the process which involves changing the probability that a response will be repeated (Hockenbury, et al., 183). Observational learning occurs through observing the actions of others. Cognitive learning is a behavioral change based on the acquisition of problem solving abilities along with intelligence and conscious thoughts (Hockenbury, et al., 183) . Different forms of conditioning and learning may be grouped together, but there are different branches which cover different theories and perspectives. Classical conditioningis formally defined as the basic learning process that involves repeatedly pairing a neutral stimulus with a response producing stimulus until the neutral stimulus elicits the same response (Hockenbury, et al., 183). Brought about by Russian scientist, Ivan Pavlov, classical conditioning (also known as Pavlovian conditioning) deals with behaviors that are elicited automatically by some stimulus (Hockenbury, et al., 183). A famous example of this is Pavlov s experiment with salivating dogs. Unconditioned stimulus, unconditioned responses, conditioned stimulus, and conditioned responses are the four principles of this theory. The unconditioned stimulus is the natural stimulus that reflexively brings forth a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Zapata Class Divide The Mexican muralist movement produced artwork on walls that defined the social and political atmosphere of Mexico. Diego Rivera was an innovator in the muralist movement that helped depict the Mexican Revolution for its violence and demand for equality among the lower class (Gonzales 240 45). Rivera s painting, Agrarian Leader Zapata, exemplifies the hardships of the revolution through a group of rebel, lower class farmers led by Emiliano Zapata who is standing over a dead, elite soldier. Agrarian Leader Zapata, utilizes the contrast of the soldiers, the focus on Zapata, and symbolism to convey the idea that the class divide was the root of violence and the outbreak of the Mexican Revolution. Rivera uses aesthetic disparities the farmers and the soldier to illustrate the class divide present in Mexico. Rivera exhibits class divide, notably through the clothing and weaponry of the figures. Rivera uses clothing to convey the motivations of the farmers. The farmers wear white while the soldier wears a traditional dark, military uniform. The contrast of the white clothing of the farmers and dark clothing of the soldier shows the farmers were pure and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite symbolizing freedom, the horse raises the question; is the horse the soldier s or Zapata s? This then questions the integrity of the farmers because is killing and stealing justifiable if it is the name of equality? These questions expand the symbolism of the horse to a symbol for the bridge of equality between the elite and the poor. This emphasizes that equality in Mexico will be violent if not given and implies that the sharing of material items and social status will aid in reaching an egalitarian society. The horse in the painting is important to the class divide in the Mexican Revolution because it reveals the violence and the societal gap between the upper and lower ... • 38. Expectancy Theory Of Motivation The Expectancy Theory illustrates the mental process that employees endure when making decisions while doing voluntary things. The theory describes that the effort will determine the performance and the performance will help indicate the overall outcome. Expectancy represents the belief that exerting a high level of effort will result in the successful performance of some task, (Dr. Creasy PowerPoint). There are some advantages of the expectancy theory. One advantage is that it emphasizes on rewards or pay offs, (Expectancy Theory of Motivation, n.d., para. 5). In Remember the Titans, Coach Herman Boone, portrayed by Denzel Washington, expects big things out of his high school football team. As the newly appointed head coach and a black man, Coach Boone was faced with big expectations or else he would have to face the consequences. Coach Boone established that his team would show tremendous effort in the fall football camp at Gettysburg College. He set ground rules as he told all of his players that they would leave the school by 7:29 AM and made them all wear dress shirts, ties, and a jacket. Coaches appreciate the athletes that display the expectancy theory because they want more out of their team. At Gettysburg College, All American linebacker Gerry Bertier, confronted fellow starting linebacker, Julius Campbell and wanted him to put in more effort during practice and play the right assignment. As captain of the team, Gerry needed to assert himself and expect more from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Scott Fitzgerald s Tender is the Night Any visitor to the French Riviera in the mid 1920s, the setting of F. Scott Fitzgerald s Tender is the Night, would describe Dr. Richard Diver as a charming, respected, well mannered physician. Dick is a noble man who has dedicated his life to the health and protection of his beloved wife without thought to himself. Furthermore, he gives wonderful parties and is a reliable source of help to any friend in need. Later, while on the shore with his family, Dick decides to attempt a foolish trick involving a speed boat, inspired by the closeness of Rosemary s exciting youth (282). This desperately insecure need for external validation is characteristic of a prepubescent level of maturity which Dick surely should have overcome long ago. As his descent continues, Dick is even less convincingly able to act like the mature professional. He gets drunk more frequently and is involved in a violent fight with some taxi drivers, and later he inadvertently insults Mary North s in laws, showing he has lost some of his previously impeccable manners. Even his mentally ill wife can see the results of his behavior, telling him, You re a coward! You ve made a failure of your life and you want to blame it on me (301). Dick has seemingly given up on acting like a grown up and all of its difficulties in favor of a more immature, morally ignorant lifestyle. Not only does Dick Diver s longing for youthful innocence show in his own youthful behavior, but also in his attraction to much younger women, both paternally and sensually. His relationships with Rosemary, his children, Nicole, and others reflect almost incestuous motives, a result of Dick s fascination with immaturity (Stanton, 118). However, there are situations where it would just be practical to have both Muhammadas a spiritual leader or adviser, as well as a leader in charge of making the big decisions for the group. The two gods then threw a spear into the sea. The mud that dripped from the spear became an island, and there, Izanagi and Izanami built a palace and married each other. Over time, Izanami gave birth to the islands of Japan and many deities, but she died giving birth to her last one, who was a fire god. • 45. The Effects Of Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors Introduction Feeling empty, hopeless and pessimistic, overwhelmed with guilt and irritability, a loss of interest in activities and fatigue, these are all symptoms of being a teenager, or perhaps an indication of a greater issue; childhood depression (Kazdin, 2006). Childhood depression has estimates of a 1 year prevalence as high as 2.5% in children and 8.3% in adolescence (Valnuck, Libby, Sills, Giese, Allen, 2004). This is a tragic suffering experienced by many youths, but in 1987 there was the introduction of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI s). At first glance, antidepressants may seem to be the answer to a parent of a depressed child s prayers, however they are accompanied by a terrifying potential side effect (Isacsson, Holmgren, Ahlner, 2005). In 2004 the US FDA issued an advisory warning stating that antidepressant use in youth patients may be linked to an increase in suicidal behavior (US Food and Drug Administration, 2004). Following this warning there have been many studies conducted to examine the validity of this black box caution, and mixed findings have arose. When taking this possibility into consideration, and remembering that not all pharmacotherapy will result in suicide in adolescence, an important question to evaluate is whether or not there is sufficient evidence to support the increased prevalence of suicide among adolescence who use SSRI s, and if this risk is outweighed by the potential benefits for the use of antidepressants, ... • 46. How Did Langston Hughes Contribute To The Harlem Renaissance The Harlem Renaissance stands as one of the greatest cultural, social and artistic movements in U.S. history. This time period consisted of a migration of black Americans from rural Southern states such as Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana to urban Harlem, New York. Originally called, the New Negro Movement meaning, many believed this brought a new black cultural identity to an almost all white culture. At this time, Langston Hughes, famous Harlem Renaissanceauthor, wrote many controversial pieces about slavery, he mentions that they send him to eat in the kitchen (Hughes 1) which describes how many slaves suffered in these days. For America, this movement helped redefine how America saw the African Americancommunity, and it helped set the stage for the Civil Rights Movement of 1950 1960. For Langston Hughes, his works reflected his love for jazz music but also told the story of what he saw and heard back in the 1920 s to the 1930 s, what most call, the Harlem Renaissance.... It has a very restricted range in northeastern Madagascar, where it is known locally as the simpona. It is one of the rarest mammals on Earth, and is listed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as one of the world s 25 most critically endangered primates. The silky sifaka is one of nine sifaka species (genus Propithecus), and one of four former subspecies of diademed sifaka (P. diadema). Studies in 2004 and 2007 compared external proportions, genetics, and cranio dental anatomy supporting full species status, which has generally been accepted. The silky sifaka has a variable social structure, and lives in groups of two to nine individuals. It spends most of its day feeding and resting, though it also devotes a considerable amount of time to social behaviors, such as playing and grooming, as well as traveling. Females occasionally take priority over males during feeding. Like other eastern sifakas, it consumes mainly leaves and seeds, but also fruit, flowers, and even soil on occasion.
